The True Nature Of The Canadian Charter
The True Nature of the Canadian Charter
As Canada continues to socially progress, the Charter has made Canada struggle to
become a more just society. The Charter as part of the evolution of the constitution does
not suddenly place Canada in a brighter light where justice is eminent and achieved
easily for society as a whole. Likewise, the method of appointing judges to the Supreme
Court of Canada (SCC) has forced the judicial interpretation of the Charter to be
perceived negatively by the rest of Canada.
While some might argue that the living tree doctrine of constitutional interpretation is
essential when interpreting the Charter, this principle can be contrasted with a doctrine
known as originalism (Solum, 2011). Supporters of ... Show more content on

Since prime ministers often select judges based on the ideals their political party
represents, constant evolution of the constitution would allow free reign for judges to
impose their own subjective values, particularly ones that are quite similar to the
political party in parliament (The Globe And Mail, Simpson 2016). Therefore, while
the country might be satisfied with the judges in place during that certain time period;
when it is time for a new election and a new political party is elected into office,
Canadians would be dissatisfied with the judges that are on the bench of The SCC. As a
result, while society s government, morals, and social values change and progress , the
law and its interpretations/interpreters persist to stand their grounds on various
controversial issues. Proceedings in all notorious issues must be handled with neutrality
and objective criteria in order to conclude to justifiable decisions (The Globe And Mail,
Simpson 2016).
On the other hand, the appointment of judges shapes Charter interpretation, forcing
Canadians to reconsider the people they have given power to and to rethink the Charter s
interpreters authority in creating a more just society. Hence, while Canada may claim to
be progressing in legal thought, the lack of Supreme Court checks and balances proves
otherwise. Unlike the politicians

Essay On Mark Twain
Mark Twain once stated, Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry and narrow mindedness.
This quote should let us all know how much travel actually meant to him. In his life, he
did a lot of traveling and exploring. From a newspaper apprentice to a pilot Mark Twain
lived a rather adventurous life .
First, most people think that your childhood can have a pleasant or unpleasant effect on
your adulthood. Mark Twainwas born Samuel Clemens on November 30, 1835 in the
frontier village of Florida, Missouri ( Mark Twain Biography.com ). He spent his
boyhood in nearby Hannibal, on the bank of the Mississippi River, observing its busy
life, fascinated by its romance, but chilled by the violence and bloodshed it bred.(28
Cox) During his childhood he became exposed to slavery, at one point he actually
discovered a body of a drowned slave. At 12, Twain would actually have to drop out of
school due to the sudden death of his father John Clemens; he would become a young
apprentice ( MarkTwainBiograpgy.com ). Twain wasn t even a teen and basically had to
become the man of the house not by choice but basically by force, this more than likely
made Twain the hard worker that he was.
Next, one could say you should treat every job as if it is actually your career, as if you
would be doing it for the rest of your life. Mark Twain had several different jobs. He
began work as an apprentice then a compositor with local printers, contributing occasional
squibs.(125 MacArthur) At 17 his comic sketch The Dandy ... Show more content on

The Landscape Of A Karst Landscape
A karst landscape is an area composed of soluble rock conventionally composed of
limestone, which is withal kenned as calcium carbonate or simply chalk (dolomite, and
gypsum are other types of rock featured in karst landscapes). Limestone is a
sedimentary rock which is made from the remains of micro skeletons and shells
compressed together into a solid. Since limestone is composed in layers kenned as
bedding planes, these layers have cracks sanctioning dihydrogen monoxide to seep in.
When rainwater seeps into the limestone cracks, it gradually erodes it due to its carbonic
acid which reacts with the limestone.
Karst landscapes feature underground drainage systems, underground caves,
underground streams, caves and sinkholes on the surface ... Show more content on

Of California s 7,000 plant species, about 50% occur in the Sierra Nevada and more than
20% within Yosemite. There is a congruous habitat for more than 160 recherchГ© plants
in the park, with recherchГ© local geologic formations and unique soils characterizing
the restricted ranges many of these plants occupy.
The geology of the Yosemite area is characterized by granitic rocks and remnants of
older rock. About 10 million years ago, the Sierra Nevada was uplifted and then tilted to
compose its relatively gentle western slopes and the more dramatic eastern slopes. The
uplift incremented the steepness of stream and river beds, resulting in formation of deep,
narrow canyons. About 1 million years ago, snow and frozen dihydrogen monoxide
accumulated, composing glaciers at the higher alpine meadows that moved down the
river valleys. Frozen dihydrogen monoxide thickness in Yosemite Valleymay have
reached 4,000 feet (1,200 m) during the early glacial episode. The downslope kinetics of
the frozen dihydrogen monoxide masses cut and sculpted the U shaped valley that
magnetizes so many visitors to its scenic vistas today.
The Xiaozhai Tiankeng, additionally kenned as the Heavenly Pit, is the world s deepest
sinkhole. It is located in Fengjie County in Chongqing Municipality. The Xiaozhai
Tiankeng is considered as a karst landscape because it has been composed by erosion of
rock which caused a massive sinkhole to occur from the ground
Peter Pan And Anne Of Green Gables Comparison
In today s society, there is a persistent belief that children and adults are fundamentally
different. Society has placed a gap between these generations that is evident
throughout movies and children s literature. In J.M. Barrie s Peter Pan and L.M.
Montgomery s Anne of Green Gables, binary oppositions come into play regarding
childhood and adulthood, specifically the difference in imagination and reality. This
binary opposition is expressed greatly among the characters in both novels. The
children were introduced as possessing a wide range of imagination, however as the
novel progressed, as do their age, their imagination gradually diminished to a more
realistic view of life. The adults are focused on the reality of life, so much so, that they
do not have any room for imagination. These adults always conform to social standards
in which they live a basic life from work to home and back. They don t have any time to
ponder their imagination due to a number of responsibilities and... Show more content on

American Gender Roles
The social and cultural meanings attached to women and men refers to gender. In a
way of organizing social life, gender has been a way to divide labor and assign roles in
our social and economic society. Gender divisions make women and men unequal (Zinn,
2011: 173).
Gender roles and associated stereotypes describe differences between men and women,
and prescribe how they should behave in social and occupational settings (Eagly and
Mitchell 2004) (Reilly and Neumann 2013).
In a family, traditional gender roles view men as the breadwinner as the women played
the domestic role. Patriarchy is the term used for forms of social organization in which
men are dominate over women (Zinn, 2011: 175). In a private patriarchy, there is a male
dominance role in the interpersonal relation with a woman whereas in larger institutions,
public patriarchy is seen.
Colonial America and the Emerging Modern Family Gender Roles.
In Colonial America, the godly family was seen as a patriarchal institution ruled by the
father (Zinn, 2011: 37) and marriages were based on social and economic
considerations, a more public patriarchy. We have discussed our observations in our
class sessions that men were the sole authority figures in the family. They were
responsible for the welfare of the family. Women were expected to help their husbands
and their majority of labor work was inside the home. The household was the basic
economic agricultural setting where goods were created, owned, and
Severe Acne Vulgaris
In today s day and age, many people, from infants to young children to middle aged
adults, suffer from acne. According to the Canadian Dermatology Association, acne is
the most common skincare problem addressed by doctors (2016). Generally speaking,
acne comes in many different forms such as white heads, black heads, cysts, pimples,
and different bumps on the skin affecting people of all ages.
Acne Vulgaris, otherwise understood as the medical name of acne, is a well known
chronic disorder that is associated with increased sebum secretion, according to the
National Library of Medicine (2013).
Obstruction of the sebaceous follicle is the primary pathologic event in acne, giving rise

This finally leads to an inflammatory response seen as papules, pustules, and nodules.
The bacterium also causes the formation of free fatty acids, which are irritants, increasing
the inflammatory process in the follicle (EFPIA, 2016)
Severe acne with associated systemic signs and symptoms, such as fever, is referred to
as acne fulminans. Severe acne, characterized by multiple comedones, without the
presence of systemic symptoms, is known as acne conglobata. This severe form of acne
typically heals with lasting scars. Local symptoms of acne vulgaris may include pain,
tenderness, or even erythema (Informed Health, 2013).
Although acne is seen to only affect the main organ, the skin, different systems of the
body are affected in unison, including the endocrine system, immune system, circulatory
system, nervous system and the digestive system. The long term complications of acne
remain as psychological damage. Many can develop lasting scarring from the skin
irritations including atrophic scars, hypertrophic scars, and keloid scars. While the
experience of acne may not be deemed as life threatening, it does carry with it significant
psychological disability (Rubin, Kim, Logan, 2008). The psychological aspect of acne
includes higher rates
Wildlife Photography Research Paper
Yanagi Soetsu defines crafts as things made to be used by people in daily life that have
a beauty born of use (Soetsu). At first glance, this definition seems to remove most
mediums of art from the set of crafts, as often art has no use outside of beauty; Soetsu
implies that all crafts are art, but not all arts are craft. I believe that, despite typically
being considered an art, photography, specifically wildlife photography, fits Soetsu s
definition of a craft. Wildlife photography from the viewers perspective is simply pictures
of animals in their natural habitat. To the photographer, these images mean so much
more: hours spent not moving, long treks to diverse locations, tiny changes to exposure
and white balance, often only a split

group is based. It s not 100 percent that it is Noah s ark, but we think it is 99.9 percent

In response to this, people ask why the land is shaped the way it is. Nature does not

Afghanistan National Reconciliation and Peace Process
Summary:
After decades of war in Afghanistan in late 2001, first attempts have already been made
by Afghans and international organizations to consult the Afghan people on how to build
capacities in pace building which was an encouraging sign. However, the people in
general are still too reluctant to speak about their suffering during the war. Instead, their
current priority is to struggle for economic survival in the highly competitive post conflict
reconstruction business with its emerging social injustice. This pragmatic attitude causes
a basic problem. If the past is not addressed, efforts to build a lasting peace are
endangered. As lessons from other post conflict societies have shown, national

Thus, the new government shall sit policies for a nation wide reconciliation to allow all

According to peace conflict resolution studies the strategies for managing potential
spoilers of a peace agreement are necessary. Spoilers are groups that aim to disrupt any
peace agreement either because their interests were not represented or included in the
negotiations or because they perceive themselves to benefit more from ongoing violent
conflict. Peace processes often exclude spoilers because they do indeed aim to disrupt
efforts toward peace. The dilemma in any high level negotiation is whether to include
potential and manifest spoilers. If the process includes both spoilers, they may make it
impossible for moderates to make progress in areas where they find common ground
across the lines of conflict. On the other hand, a peace process that excludes all potential
spoilers may not have anyone around the table. If so called spoilers are left out of the
process because they are more difficult to work with, then they often come back later to
disrupt the implementation of an agreement. Excluding potential spoilers can increase
their commitment to violence by removing viable political alternatives (Schirch, Rafiee,
Sakhi, 2013).
Conflict issues: A military victory leading to a durable peace in Afghanistanis extremely
unlikely. Current negotiations to end the war in Afghanistanfail to build on lessons

The State of Georgia s Provision Unit
PROVISION UNIT The state of Georgia s provision unit that has helped become a
deciding factor in putting certain statues in place is the Georgia General Assembly.
The Georgia General Assembly has existed in Georgia since January of 1751 it is one
of the largest state legislatures in the nation. Under the General Assembly there are
two chambers, the House of Representatives and the senate. The House of
Representatives, which is one provision unit, has a total of 180 members who
represent many districts across the state of Georgia. The Speaker is one who presides
over the House of Representatives. The House of Representatives duties include
handing legislation dealing with Georgia s Department of Transportation and their
operations, in addition, they deal with legislation regarding Georgia s roads and
infrastructure (HOUSE.GA.GOV). The senate, which is the second provision unit, is
similar to the house; however they consist of about 56 members who also represent
districts from around the state. The senate s main responsibilities include legislation
relating to highway safety and regulation of intrastate common carriers
(SENATE.GOV). MEMBERS The Georgia General Assembly has officials who have
been elected to hold their position. Within the House of Representatives the Speaker is
said to be the leader and Georgia s current Speaker is David Ralston who was elected in
January 2010. Speaker Ralston was elected by the members of the House. Speaker

plants that has had to adapt is the Epiphytes. They have to be over other plants to be able

to be able to collect the right amount of water to grow. Some plants have leaves that help
catch the water.
What Caused The Crusades Dbq Analysis
How Desire for Personal Gain Caused the Crusades
With total autonomy to kill and plunder as they please alongside a godly, miracle like
victory in their first ever attempt in a series of holy wars, the Crusades stand out as a
key point in the history of both Christianity and the medieval world as a whole. It is
undeniable that religious devotion played a factor in the Crusades; in an era where Europe
was a land of chaotic violence, a quick chance to absolve oneself from any sin was
immensely appealing. Yet from the wars very origin to their ways of recruiting and
actions on the battlefield, this apparent devotion that is the heart of the Crusades is
repetitively contradicted. The holy wars would never have reached the height they did or

Though it was not their key goal, protecting the Christian people, monuments, etc. still
was something the Crusaders stuck by. Yet, as the wars continued, faith seemed to be
ever more forgotten than it was when they first prioritized material gain. Mesarites, a
church official in Constantinople recounts their takeover in the Fourth Crusade. As the
proclaimed protectors of Christianity invaded, their actions seemed driven by a brutal
desire to simply take; whether that be gold ornaments or lives. The church official
describes the Crusaders as barking like Cerberus and exhaling like Charon (Document
6). These comparisons to the creatures of Greece s underworld are something you d
expect to hear about the Muslim Turks, their original enemies . In this holy city,
seemingly precious to Christians Orthodox or not the Crusaders actions are again
something expected of some other warring faith. Whether it was trampling divine
buildings and artifacts, killing without care, raping women, or tearing children away
from their parents, it was clear that the Crusaders were maddened by war and
murderous in spirit [...] fearing neither God s anger or man s vengeance (Document 6).
Even if some had started waging in the holy wars out of pure religious devotion to God,
by now the thrill of war had overtaken even the most God fearing
Theme Of Everyday Use
The story Everyday Uses begins with a Mother talking about her daughters, Maggie
and Dee. Dee is outgoing, beautiful, and judgmental; she searches for things that may
give her life purpose. Family values are of very little importance to Dee. She finds her
significance more in her appearance than in endearment to the people of with whom
she has shared her life, due to her insecurities. Then, there is her little sister Maggie, a
small, shy girl, who has large insecurities due to her appearance. She also walks with a
limp, due to a fire that occurred at her old house when she was younger. Maggie maylack
external beauty but, she has internal beauty; a caring heart and she loves her Mother.

In every way shape and form, you would think that they were nothing alike unless you
looked at their hearts. By appearance, they are different. Dee is beautiful and very
much into fashion, unlike her sister who is said to be unattractive. Their level of
education levels are different. Dee was able to go to the Augusta school after her
mother raised the money, whereas Maggie has very little education. Their personalities
are a world apart. Dee is outgoing, spunky, and not afraid to say what she is thinking.
Maggie is shy and jealous of her sister, but she has a generous heart. All though the
sisters are different, their insecurities link them together in a unique way. In conclusion I
can say in Alice Walker s story Everyday Uses, the two sisters Dee and Maggie differ in
appearance, education, and attitude, but they both have deep down

Racial oppression and ethnic prejudice made the South Africa in unrest in the past. In

Taking a Look at DNA Supercoiling
DNA supercoiling is the over winding or under winding of a DNA strand. In general,
most organisms DNA is negatively supercoiled. There are two types of supercoiling:
positive and negative. Positive supercoiling means that the DNA strands are twisted in
the right direction; whereas negative supercoiling means that the DNAstrands are twisted
in the left direction. The laws of Physics govern everything that happens in the world,
including DNA coiling in living beings. Some of the concepts in Physics that are
involved in DNA coiling are quantum mechanics and statistical mechanics.
Quantum physics is a branch of physics that explores certain units of energy, which are
called quanta. These units of energy are described by the Quantum Theory. The
dictionary definition of the Quantum Theory is: Any theory predating quantum
mechanics that encompassed Planck s radiation formula and a scheme for obtaining
discrete energy states for atoms, as Bohr theory. This definition means that Quantum
Theory deals with Planck s radiation formula, Bohr theory and indivisible units of energy.
A great deal of research has been conducted in the field of quantum mechanics and its
connection with DNA supercoiling. Some Physicists have formed a theory, which states
that quantum entanglement holds DNA molecules together and prevents the DNA from
falling apart. Quantum entanglement is the relationship between any objects that deal
with quantum mechanics. A Physicist named Elisabeth Rieper, from the
Green Burial In America
Green Burial: Fixing America s Funerary Landscape
Breathtaking landscapes, beautiful moss covered headstones, and a scenic way to spend
the day around the dead this describes London s Highgate Cemetery. However, Highgate
and the other iconic Magnificent Seven graveyards arose out of Victorian London s
desperate need for more burial space to fit an overpopulated necropolis. Now, in modern
America, we re facing a similar issue, except instead of mass plague pits, we have
wasteful lawn cemeteries filled with metal lines caskets. concrete vaults, and gallons of
toxic embalming fluid.
Conventional American funeral services have led to an unsustainable funerary
landscape. With a population of over 300 million as of 2016, people dying every hour, ...

Aside from fueling the funeral industry s monetary greed, each component of a
conventional burial serves one main purpose: to give the illusion of immortality.
Embalming fluids slow down the process of decay, cushioned caskets almost serve as
a bed for the deceased, and concrete vaults keep decomposers and microorganisms
from reaching the corpse. However, all of these things also lead to overcrowding.
Rather than taking up only as much space as a human body does, a burial plot is now
91.5 x 30 . Furthermore, that same plot often cannot be used again. Reusing a plot
requires digging up the casket and placing the remains somewhere else, often in a
mass storage unit or grave. Even then, many cemeteries don t allow for one site to be
reused. A natural burial alleviates these problems. Natural burial cemeteries do away
with heavy preservative measures, opting instead to allow the body to decompose. All
the materials used in a natural burial are biodegradable, meaning they can easily and
safely decompose in the soil. Because the body eventually fully decomposes, that same
plot of land can be reused after a specified number of years. This opens up space for
future generations to be buried
Effects Of Cultural Imperialism In Nepal
The fact of the culture of a large and powerful country, organization, etc. having a great
influence on another less powerful country, etc: is known as cultural
imperialism.(Cambridge) .There are many ways in which a stronger country can have
power over a weaker one, however, in the 21st century, cultural imperialism is the most
effective and easily applicable. Spreading one s own influence over other s takes time.
For the past many years, the U.S. has had a very powerful influence on many countries
of North America, Europe and Asia, including Nepal. There are many factors that
contribute to the ever so definite cultural imperialism of the U.S seen in Nepal. The
expansion of media, which includes Hollywood and television, preference to American...

going abroad to pursue higher educatio, especially to the U.S, are (1) the absorptive

the complementarity of Asian demand and American supply and (4) the opportunities

1750 to 1820, this article is about the broad span of time from roughly the 11th century

central norms of this tradition became codified between 1550 and 1900, which is

difference is that whereas most popular styles adopt the song form, classical music has

as the concerto, symphony, sonata, and mixed vocal and instrumental styles such as

age. The earliest reference to classical music recorded by the

The material and financial resources, which are the economic foundation of local

Budget expenditures funds allocated from the budget for non repayable basis within the
approved budget. As already mentioned, depending on the program (state, local)
expenditure of funds for their implementation is made from the relevant budget.
Expenditures of local budgets are carried out in areas identified by the Budget Code.
The budget as the organization of financial relations coexist two trends:
1. The centralization of the system of forms and methods of traffic management of
financial resources as a reflection of a more general process of centralization in
managing the economy to overcome the crisis and stabilize;
2. Decentralization of finance with the increased functions of local government and
administrative bodies in the formation and use of financial funds. The second trend is
justified by the approximate nature of local authorities to local conditions, their greater
interest in the socio economic development of territories. The principle of the
administration of financial relationships is the ability to exercise control of finance: the
less specific financial terms amenable to formal verification, the more desirable its
assignment to a decentralized management, and vice versa, with well controlled for
centralized management. Global financial theory and practice specify that the local

Essay on Accounting Communications between Males and
Females
Communication can be a daunting task in today society. The forms of communication
are constantly changing and evolving. In the beginning stages of humanity talking was
irrelevant. The actions of a human spoke louder than words. However, the age of
technology is slowly destroying not only the communication but also the society itself.
In the current age humans are living in a life created for them. The people will have
been trained to focus more on the outside world rather than the inside world. Studies
show that the inside world actually produces the physical world. Nothing can be
manifested unless the inside world agrees. So, not only is commutating transforming it s

The attitude of either male or female is a major component of communicating. Attitudes
can change in the blink of an eye. For instances, the wrong choice of words can quickly
tick off the opposite set. Either male or female has the power to say the wrong words
and hostile actions become available.
Arguments are the main focus within a distraught couple. Honestly, words carry an
abundance of power. A select word can be associated with a tragedy and will spark
different attitudes instantly. For example, couples will argue all the time. However, it
isn t until one strike a nerve with a word that meant a lot growing up. Cultures and the
surroundings when growing up is involved. Anything can trigger a past experience and
it will take the person back to that unfortunate event. Nowadays, with the lack of
communications relationships are running off of trial and error. Which means
relationships will go down the drain due to the lack of attention from either side. When
humans come together they re unaware of one s pass until its brought about. In some
cases, it s hard for both men and women to open up to the partners. The trust in one
another has to be evident before opening up the doors to the heart. The current society
has the ability to create fake feelings for relationships. So many movies, television
shows and even the music is making hard for couples to stay together. Reason being is

The Collapse of Lehman Brothers
On September 15, 2008, Lehman Brothers filed for bankruptcy. With $639 billion in
assets and $619 billion in debt, Lehman s bankruptcy filing was the largest in history, as
its assets far surpassed those of previous bankrupt giants such as WorldCom and Enron.
Lehman was the fourth largest U.S. investment bank at the time of its collapse, with
25,000 employees worldwide. Lehman s demise also made it the largest victim, of the
U.S. subprime mortgageinduced financial crisis that swept through global financial
markets in 2008. Lehman s collapse was a seminal event that greatly intensified the 2008

Lehman s so called countercyclical strategy was terminated by mid 2007, as its losses
and illiquid assets were beginning to get out of control. Neither during the last quarter
of 2007 nor during the first quarter of 2008, however, did Lehman attempt to raise
equity or sell of assets. During this period, it also used an accounting trick to remove
some $50 billion from its books
( Repo lOS ). By this time, Lehman s dependence on the short term repo market had also
increased dramatically and was nearly 26% of its liabilities or twice that of peer banks
(Valukas, 2010, p. 1407).
Despite all of these failures, Fuld insists that it was rumors and short selling that brought
down Lehman, not its huge losses in a deteriorating economy and his own failure to deal
with this. Ultimately what happened to Lehman Brothers, Fuld (2008b, p. 8) would later
say when he testified at
Congress, was caused by a lack of confidence.
While it seems that Fuld believed that Lehman could weather any storms it faced during
the spring and summer of 2008, investors were getting increasingly nervous. While many
banks had declared heavy losses and write downs, Lehman was not one of them. In fact,
The Story Of Bram Stoker
The story of Dracula consists of many genres that it can be classified as, some of them
being adventure, fantasy, horror and gothic fiction. The writing style of Bram Stoker
is unique and he uses any word to his advantage, describing the novel and painting a
picture for the reader. The graphic description helps readers to imagine the place and
make it seem as if they were there in person. The time period of which this story was
written and based upon, was in the mid Victorian era (1850 1870). In the novel, the
setting changes a lot over the course of the story, but it is predominantly set in
Transylvania, which is now inside the country of Romania.
Transylvania is portrayed as a rustic, primitive and virtually medieval. Bram Stoker

Science As A Nano Scientist
A Nano scientist specializes in areas of science such as chemistry, physics, mathematics,
and molecular biology. Becoming a Nano scientist can take up to nine years of schooling
depending on what degree is desired. Whether it be two years of college for an associate
s degree, four years for a bachelor s degree, six years for a master s degree, or nine years
for a doctorates degree. Once all is said and done the wage of a Nano scientist is very
beneficial ranging anywhere from $40,000 to $100,000 right out of college, and there is
a very high demand for people graduating into this field. As a result, graduating directly
into a career as a Nano scientist is very promising.
Introduction
The evolution of society has always been clear, and even more so that science
contributed to this evolution. As a result, many people strive to be scientists, and in this
study I will educate the reader on the requirements to become: what I believe to be the
future, a Nano scientist. By the simplest of definitions, Nano science can be described as
a convergence of physics, chemistry, materials science and biology, which deals with the
manipulation and characterization of matter on length scales between the molecular and
the micron size. Nano scientists are expected to perform research related to formations at
the atomic and subatomic levels. In addition, they must have excellent hand eye
coordination as well as persistence and patience. Above all, the reader must first decide if

Childhood Somatization Essay
Somatization is the manifestation of psychological distress as physical symptoms such as
headaches, stomachaches, body aches, dizziness, and fatigue (Mai, 2004; Taylor,
Szatmari, Boyle, Offord, 1996). These somatic complaints generally cannot be traced to
any diagnosable medical conditions, however they are not fictitious and may be
explained by biological mechanisms involved in the stress response as well as by changes
in individuals perception of pain (Garber, Walker, Zeman, 1991; Mai, 2004; Rief,
Hennings, Riemer, Euteneuer, 2010). Somatic disorders account for more productivity
loss, unemployment, and healthcare usage than any other psychiatric disorder, indicating
the need for further research into its many predictors and causes (Mai, 2004; Poikolainen,

Somatic symptom disorders among children are especially common in low
socioeconomic status (SES) communities, non White ethnicities, and victims of
childhood trauma or victimization, (Bailey, 2005; Reynolds, O Koon, Papademetriou,
Szczygiel, Grant, 2001; White Farrell, 2006), though there may be important differences
in the types of symptoms reported by different racial and ethnic groups (Kingery,
Ginsburg, Alfano, 2007). For example, Rhee (2003) notes that rates of headache, body
ache, and dizziness are higher in Caucasian populations, whereas urinary dysfunction,
cold sweat, overheating, and chest pain are more common among African Americans.
Rhee (2005) proposes that the ethnic disparity associated with these symptoms can, at
least in part, be attributed to lower SES and higher rates of depressive symptoms among
racial minorities, whereas, other symptoms may occur regardless of SES or comorbid
Essay on Testing Aerodynamic Structures for Our Science...
First, aerodynamics is the study of the motion of the air. Aerodynamics consists of 4
variables, which is thrust, gravity, lift, and drag. (Tennekes,H, 2009) Aerodynamics has
to do with almost everything dealing with air of course.(Tennekes,H ,2009) For example,
it can be air crafts, it can be wings, it can be birds, it can be a race car. Birds need
aerodynamicsso they can glide in the air so they can also gain enough speed to catch
prey. Like a hawk swooping down 70 miles an hour to get a mouse to eat. Race cars
need aerodynamics so that the car structure can have the most air resistance it wont
apply as much pressure onto the car. Like birds air crafts also need aerodynamics for the

They have to deal with aerodynamics everyday since they are the scientists who works
everyday trying to make aerodynamic rockets to study space, they have to be very
precise when ever they make a rocket, it can take years, because one time NASA sent a
rocket but as soon it hit a certain altitude it exploded because of on of the cables inside
wasn t connected. (NASA,2013) Plus NASA is also creating aircraft for the future so
they can send regular people into space to experience how it would feel like to go into
space, but the trip would cost over 3 million dollars, so you would only be allowed to get
on if you are a millionaire or higher. (NASA,2013) Lift is a force pushes the object up
ward. Drag is related to air resistance, drag is like friction but like in the air. Drag is a
force that causes to pull the object the opposite way, for example if you put your hand
out a window of a car and the car is on the high way, and if you make your hand like a
wall and put it out in the air it would pull your hand back wards. (Paper Airplanes HQ
2013) But if you put your hand flat down it would just let your hand pass through since
its allows air to go around the hand causing little drag. Thrust is a forward force which
allows the object to go into the air, for example when you have a paper airplane and
throw it, that throw with your arm is the thrust for the airplane to launch.(Auld,D.J.

Revenge In Oresteia Research Paper
2017In the Greek play Oresteia, the theme of the intersection between past, present, and
future can be seen in the instances of revenge and justice that occur between various
characters. Also, the play can teach us many aspects about how to improve our life in
the future in order to become better people, by learning and deviating from our actions
and forgiving others for what they have done instead of retaliating. In Oresteia, the
reoccurring theme of revenge can be seen in all three acts in the play, producing much of
the tragedy in it. Revenge can first be seen when Clytemnestrakills Agamemnonand
Cassandra at the plaice, however, there are many layers to this revenge that is
committed. Iphigenia, Agamemnon s daughter, was sacrificed by her father so that the

  • 2. The True Nature Of The Canadian Charter The True Nature of the Canadian Charter As Canada continues to socially progress, the Charter has made Canada struggle to become a more just society. The Charter as part of the evolution of the constitution does not suddenly place Canada in a brighter light where justice is eminent and achieved easily for society as a whole. Likewise, the method of appointing judges to the Supreme Court of Canada (SCC) has forced the judicial interpretation of the Charter to be perceived negatively by the rest of Canada. While some might argue that the living tree doctrine of constitutional interpretation is essential when interpreting the Charter, this principle can be contrasted with a doctrine known as originalism (Solum, 2011). Supporters of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Since prime ministers often select judges based on the ideals their political party represents, constant evolution of the constitution would allow free reign for judges to impose their own subjective values, particularly ones that are quite similar to the political party in parliament (The Globe And Mail, Simpson 2016). Therefore, while the country might be satisfied with the judges in place during that certain time period; when it is time for a new election and a new political party is elected into office, Canadians would be dissatisfied with the judges that are on the bench of The SCC. As a result, while society s government, morals, and social values change and progress , the law and its interpretations/interpreters persist to stand their grounds on various controversial issues. Proceedings in all notorious issues must be handled with neutrality and objective criteria in order to conclude to justifiable decisions (The Globe And Mail, Simpson 2016). On the other hand, the appointment of judges shapes Charter interpretation, forcing Canadians to reconsider the people they have given power to and to rethink the Charter s interpreters authority in creating a more just society. Hence, while Canada may claim to be progressing in legal thought, the lack of Supreme Court checks and balances proves otherwise. Unlike the politicians

  • 7. Peter Pan And Anne Of Green Gables Comparison In today s society, there is a persistent belief that children and adults are fundamentally different. Society has placed a gap between these generations that is evident throughout movies and children s literature. In J.M. Barrie s Peter Pan and L.M. Montgomery s Anne of Green Gables, binary oppositions come into play regarding childhood and adulthood, specifically the difference in imagination and reality. This binary opposition is expressed greatly among the characters in both novels. The children were introduced as possessing a wide range of imagination, however as the novel progressed, as do their age, their imagination gradually diminished to a more realistic view of life. The adults are focused on the reality of life, so much so, that they do not have any room for imagination. • 10. American Gender Roles The social and cultural meanings attached to women and men refers to gender. In a way of organizing social life, gender has been a way to divide labor and assign roles in our social and economic society. Gender divisions make women and men unequal (Zinn, 2011: 173). Gender roles and associated stereotypes describe differences between men and women, and prescribe how they should behave in social and occupational settings (Eagly and Mitchell 2004) (Reilly and Neumann 2013). In a family, traditional gender roles view men as the breadwinner as the women played the domestic role. Patriarchy is the term used for forms of social organization in which men are dominate over women (Zinn, 2011: 175). In a private patriarchy, there is a male dominance role in the interpersonal relation with a woman whereas in larger institutions, public patriarchy is seen. Colonial America and the Emerging Modern Family Gender Roles. In Colonial America, the godly family was seen as a patriarchal institution ruled by the father (Zinn, 2011: 37) and marriages were based on social and economic considerations, a more public patriarchy. We have discussed our observations in our class sessions that men were the sole authority figures in the family. They were responsible for the welfare of the family. Women were expected to help their husbands and their majority of labor work was inside the home. The household was the basic economic agricultural setting where goods were created, owned, and

At first glance, this definition seems to remove most mediums of art from the set of crafts, as often art has no use outside of beauty; Soetsu implies that all crafts are art, but not all arts are craft. I believe that, despite typically being considered an art, photography, specifically wildlife photography, fits Soetsu s definition of a craft. Wildlife photography from the viewers perspective is simply pictures of animals in their natural habitat. To the photographer, these images mean so much more: hours spent not moving, long treks to diverse locations, tiny changes to exposure and white balance, often only a split

Thus, the new government shall sit policies for a nation wide reconciliation to allow all Afghans take part in the government. According to peace conflict resolution studies the strategies for managing potential spoilers of a peace agreement are necessary. Spoilers are groups that aim to disrupt any peace agreement either because their interests were not represented or included in the negotiations or because they perceive themselves to benefit more from ongoing violent conflict. Peace processes often exclude spoilers because they do indeed aim to disrupt efforts toward peace. The dilemma in any high level negotiation is whether to include potential and manifest spoilers. If the process includes both spoilers, they may make it impossible for moderates to make progress in areas where they find common ground across the lines of conflict. On the other hand, a peace process that excludes all potential spoilers may not have anyone around the table. If so called spoilers are left out of the process because they are more difficult to work with, then they often come back later to disrupt the implementation of an agreement. Excluding potential spoilers can increase their commitment to violence by removing viable political alternatives (Schirch, Rafiee, Sakhi, 2013). There are two types of supercoiling: positive and negative. Positive supercoiling means that the DNA strands are twisted in the right direction; whereas negative supercoiling means that the DNAstrands are twisted in the left direction. The laws of Physics govern everything that happens in the world, including DNA coiling in living beings. Some of the concepts in Physics that are involved in DNA coiling are quantum mechanics and statistical mechanics. Quantum physics is a branch of physics that explores certain units of energy, which are called quanta. These units of energy are described by the Quantum Theory. The dictionary definition of the Quantum Theory is: Any theory predating quantum mechanics that encompassed Planck s radiation formula and a scheme for obtaining discrete energy states for atoms, as Bohr theory. This definition means that Quantum Theory deals with Planck s radiation formula, Bohr theory and indivisible units of energy. A great deal of research has been conducted in the field of quantum mechanics and its connection with DNA supercoiling. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Aside from fueling the funeral industry s monetary greed, each component of a conventional burial serves one main purpose: to give the illusion of immortality. Embalming fluids slow down the process of decay, cushioned caskets almost serve as a bed for the deceased, and concrete vaults keep decomposers and microorganisms from reaching the corpse. However, all of these things also lead to overcrowding. Rather than taking up only as much space as a human body does, a burial plot is now 91.5 x 30 . Furthermore, that same plot often cannot be used again. Reusing a plot requires digging up the casket and placing the remains somewhere else, often in a mass storage unit or grave. Even then, many cemeteries don t allow for one site to be reused. A natural burial alleviates these problems. Natural burial cemeteries do away with heavy preservative measures, opting instead to allow the body to decompose. All the materials used in a natural burial are biodegradable, meaning they can easily and safely decompose in the soil. Because the body eventually fully decomposes, that same plot of land can be reused after a specified number of years. This opens up space for future generations to be buried

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Lehman s so called countercyclical strategy was terminated by mid 2007, as its losses and illiquid assets were beginning to get out of control. Neither during the last quarter of 2007 nor during the first quarter of 2008, however, did Lehman attempt to raise equity or sell of assets. During this period, it also used an accounting trick to remove some $50 billion from its books ( Repo lOS ). By this time, Lehman s dependence on the short term repo market had also increased dramatically and was nearly 26% of its liabilities or twice that of peer banks (Valukas, 2010, p. 1407). Despite all of these failures, Fuld insists that it was rumors and short selling that brought down Lehman, not its huge losses in a deteriorating economy and his own failure to deal with this. Ultimately what happened to Lehman Brothers, Fuld (2008b, p. 8) would later say when he testified at Congress, was caused by a lack of confidence. While it seems that Fuld believed that Lehman could weather any storms it faced during the spring and summer of 2008, investors were getting increasingly nervous. While many banks had declared heavy losses and write downs, Lehman was not one of them. In fact,
  • 31. The Story Of Bram Stoker The story of Dracula consists of many genres that it can be classified as, some of them being adventure, fantasy, horror and gothic fiction. The writing style of Bram Stoker is unique and he uses any word to his advantage, describing the novel and painting a picture for the reader. The graphic description helps readers to imagine the place and make it seem as if they were there in person. The time period of which this story was written and based upon, was in the mid Victorian era (1850 1870). In the novel, the setting changes a lot over the course of the story, but it is predominantly set in Transylvania, which is now inside the country of Romania. Transylvania is portrayed as a rustic, primitive and virtually medieval. Bram Stoker describes
  • 32. Science As A Nano Scientist A Nano scientist specializes in areas of science such as chemistry, physics, mathematics, and molecular biology. Becoming a Nano scientist can take up to nine years of schooling depending on what degree is desired. Whether it be two years of college for an associate s degree, four years for a bachelor s degree, six years for a master s degree, or nine years for a doctorates degree. Once all is said and done the wage of a Nano scientist is very beneficial ranging anywhere from $40,000 to $100,000 right out of college, and there is a very high demand for people graduating into this field. As a result, graduating directly into a career as a Nano scientist is very promising. Introduction The evolution of society has always been clear, and even more so that science contributed to this evolution. As a result, many people strive to be scientists, and in this study I will educate the reader on the requirements to become: what I believe to be the future, a Nano scientist. By the simplest of definitions, Nano science can be described as a convergence of physics, chemistry, materials science and biology, which deals with the manipulation and characterization of matter on length scales between the molecular and the micron size. Nano scientists are expected to perform research related to formations at the atomic and subatomic levels. In addition, they must have excellent hand eye coordination as well as persistence and patience. Above all, the reader must first decide if this seems
  • 33. Childhood Somatization Essay Somatization is the manifestation of psychological distress as physical symptoms such as headaches, stomachaches, body aches, dizziness, and fatigue (Mai, 2004; Taylor, Szatmari, Boyle, Offord, 1996). These somatic complaints generally cannot be traced to any diagnosable medical conditions, however they are not fictitious and may be explained by biological mechanisms involved in the stress response as well as by changes in individuals perception of pain (Garber, Walker, Zeman, 1991; Mai, 2004; Rief, Hennings, Riemer, Euteneuer, 2010). Somatic disorders account for more productivity loss, unemployment, and healthcare usage than any other psychiatric disorder, indicating the need for further research into its many predictors and causes (Mai, 2004; Poikolainen, Aalto Setala, Marttunen, Tuulio Henricksson, Lonnqvist, 2000; Rief Auer, 2000). Among ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Somatic symptom disorders among children are especially common in low socioeconomic status (SES) communities, non White ethnicities, and victims of childhood trauma or victimization, (Bailey, 2005; Reynolds, O Koon, Papademetriou, Szczygiel, Grant, 2001; White Farrell, 2006), though there may be important differences in the types of symptoms reported by different racial and ethnic groups (Kingery, Ginsburg, Alfano, 2007). For example, Rhee (2003) notes that rates of headache, body ache, and dizziness are higher in Caucasian populations, whereas urinary dysfunction, cold sweat, overheating, and chest pain are more common among African Americans. Rhee (2005) proposes that the ethnic disparity associated with these symptoms can, at least in part, be attributed to lower SES and higher rates of depressive symptoms among racial minorities, whereas, other symptoms may occur regardless of SES or comorbid
  • 34. Essay on Testing Aerodynamic Structures for Our Science... First, aerodynamics is the study of the motion of the air. Aerodynamics consists of 4 variables, which is thrust, gravity, lift, and drag. (Tennekes,H, 2009) Aerodynamics has to do with almost everything dealing with air of course.(Tennekes,H ,2009) For example, it can be air crafts, it can be wings, it can be birds, it can be a race car. Birds need aerodynamicsso they can glide in the air so they can also gain enough speed to catch prey. Like a hawk swooping down 70 miles an hour to get a mouse to eat. Race cars need aerodynamics so that the car structure can have the most air resistance it wont apply as much pressure onto the car. Like birds air crafts also need aerodynamics for the wings on the aircraft or the weight of the aircraft.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They have to deal with aerodynamics everyday since they are the scientists who works everyday trying to make aerodynamic rockets to study space, they have to be very precise when ever they make a rocket, it can take years, because one time NASA sent a rocket but as soon it hit a certain altitude it exploded because of on of the cables inside wasn t connected. (NASA,2013) Plus NASA is also creating aircraft for the future so they can send regular people into space to experience how it would feel like to go into space, but the trip would cost over 3 million dollars, so you would only be allowed to get on if you are a millionaire or higher. (NASA,2013) Lift is a force pushes the object up ward. Drag is related to air resistance, drag is like friction but like in the air. Drag is a force that causes to pull the object the opposite way, for example if you put your hand out a window of a car and the car is on the high way, and if you make your hand like a wall and put it out in the air it would pull your hand back wards. (Paper Airplanes HQ 2013) But if you put your hand flat down it would just let your hand pass through since its allows air to go around the hand causing little drag. Thrust is a forward force which allows the object to go into the air, for example when you have a paper airplane and throw it, that throw with your arm is the thrust for the airplane to launch.(Auld,D.J. K.Srinivas ,2013) Gravity
  • 35. Revenge In Oresteia Research Paper 2017In the Greek play Oresteia, the theme of the intersection between past, present, and future can be seen in the instances of revenge and justice that occur between various characters. Also, the play can teach us many aspects about how to improve our life in the future in order to become better people, by learning and deviating from our actions and forgiving others for what they have done instead of retaliating. In Oresteia, the reoccurring theme of revenge can be seen in all three acts in the play, producing much of the tragedy in it. Revenge can first be seen when Clytemnestrakills Agamemnonand Cassandra at the plaice, however, there are many layers to this revenge that is committed. Iphigenia, Agamemnon s daughter, was sacrificed by her father so that the god Artemis would be appeased and the Greek ships could reach troy. By killing Agamemnon, Iphegenia s death would be avenged and the blood crime of familial murder be resolved. Clytemnestra could be seen as... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, the revenge from death and infidelity are repeated by both Clytemnestra and Orestes showing how the motives intersect from one life to another. Both Clytemnestra, Orestes also use the form of vengeful justice created by The Furies to rationalize their murders. The Furies believe in the blood for blood justice used that was handed to them at their time of creation, that The mother killer must not escape, he must be punished... blood must pay for blood! (Furies 256,264). Clytemnestra states Here is Agamemnon, my husband made a corpse by this right hand a masterpiece of justice. Done is done, (Agamemnon 1429 1431). Thus stating, Clytemnestra believes that since she killed Agamemnon, she brought justice to herself, her daughter, and her city. Orestes believes that to obtain justice for his father and himself, he needs to reenact the vengeful justice that his mother took on his

I will worry about eating food later on. I don t have an appetite at all. I never really do in all honestly. What time is it? I look down at my watch. 11pm. That leaves me with plenty of time until the next lecture at 1pm. Luckily it is with Miss Brandy again. I am terrified to meet the other tutors, what if they don t like me the same way as Miss Brandy does? I m sure it will be fine. I can feel someone staring into the back of me, it is very unnerving... Why do I feel like I know who it is? Infact I know who it is, Chakotay Coal. My heart is begging to race again, I cannot
