2. Essay On Academic Dismissal
This is in regards to getting my academic dismissal. I am aware of my dismissal from
the program due to failure of two courses in level 2. I take full responsibility of the
failure from those two courses. I am writing this appeal letter to explain the cause and to
ask you to please consider my reinstatement back into the nursing program for the fall of
2017.
Level two in the nursing program is no joke. I definitely struggled with it and the
testing as displayed by my grades. In NU 386 Nursing of Older Adult I ended with a
78% in the class, but my test average was a 74.9%. The same scenario happened in NU
356 Maternal/Women/Newborn nursing, I had a 79% in the class but a 74% test average.
With both test averages below the minimum of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

As to continuing the program, I believe that going to clinical and being able to be out in
the field to help people has proven to me that nursing is what I want to do. I enjoyed
going to clinical and all my clinical instructors have thought with my shining attitude and
smile that they always thought the patient s enjoyed having me as their student nurse. As
far as class goes, the only class I ever missed was from work orientation. Other than
that I showed up to every single class and I personally know a lot of classmates that
can not say the same. To me that shows that I want to be in the program. I think that
nursing is the field that I belong in and that is why I am committed to writing this
letter. I want to be in the program and I already know what I am going to do next to
ensure that my grades are not in jeopardy for the rest of nursing school.
My plan of action for the future of my academic success has multiple actions to it. First
off my commitment to each class has to increase. I need to read both the online book
and my ATI book more. In the summer I have already said that I am
3. Analysis Of A Steatistician To His Love By Peter Goldsworthy
Whether their passion is love, hate or a deep dissatisfaction with their world, poets use
their writing as a medium to express themselves, using various literary techniques to
convey these passions to their audience. A Statistician to His Love, by Peter Goldsworthy
and Sonnet by Diana Hendry express passion for their lovers and present situations that
challenge social conventions while Mangoes by Richard Tipping and Constantly Risking
Absurdity by Lawrence Ferlinghetti capture the essence of writing poetrythrough
analogies. E.E Cummings and Brian Turner desire that the government stops sending
American soldiers to war in their poems Next to of course god america and Ashbah,
through the manipulation of tone.
As has been done for centuries before them, Goldsworthy and Hendry use poetry as an
avenue to describe ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Instead of simply conveying their passion for their lover, the poets adopt the persona of
a lover to present realities that undermine social situations. Goldsworthy captures his
audience s attention through humour to challenge the tendencies of statisticians to
ignore emotion. He removes feeling and uses hard/ and bony facts to create the irony
that in the case of love, the appeal to logic seems so illogical. While Goldsworthy
avoids the traditional form of a love poem, Sonnet is structured as a Shakespearean
sonnet, the most traditional form of a love poem, often written by males to express their
wit to their female lovers. As the title of the poem the form highlights male dominance,
especially in love. Hendry rebels against social constructs that determine the way a
woman should act in a relationship, and uses the speaker s innocence to allow the
audience to empathise
4. Piracy In The Music Industry
There are $12.5 billion in economic losses each year due to Piracy in the music
industry. This shows how people are not taking piracy seriously and treating it not as a
crime. Piracy is a crime and people should be able to use it against people in their cases.
Based on the evidence in this article, companies involved in legal action should use
emotionally charged language such as piracy to win their cases because if they seem to
be copying an artist s piece without permission and selling it for free, it is piracy and
piracy is a crimethat they can use. The person who made their work must have spent a
lot of time on it so they would be able to accuse it s as piracy if someone were to steal it.
According to the article, People who work hard to produce creative works are entitled
to enjoy legal protection to reap the benefits of their labors. And if others want to enjoy
those creative works, it s reasonable to make them pay for the privilege. This proves
that people generally want to be able to be proud of their work by putting a cost with...

The text states, It would no longer matter whether the property misappropriated was
tangible or intangible, real or personal, a good or a service. All of these things were
now to be treated uniformly. This shows that the emotionally charged language should be
used because it is appropriate for this matter that these things are truly being stolen.
Piracy is an ongoing problem that many people do not take seriously. Just because
something is intangible does not mean that it does not have any value. In conclusion,
organizations should use emotionally charged language such as piracy because stealing
these intangible things are counted as a crime so it is only fair to use
5. The Crossing Cormac Mccarthy
The Crossing by Cormac McCarthy takes the reader on a journey through Mexico and
South Western United States through the eyes of the protagonist Billy Parham, a
young cowboy who began the story as young and naive, wishing for an adventure. He
finds it when Billy captures the wolf that he and his father were hunting and, instead
of killing the animal, he instead decides to take her back to the Mexican Mountains.
Along the way, he began to deeply care for it and believe that it s a being of great order
that knew what men do not, willing to risk his own life to guarantee her safety
(McCarthy 59 60). However, on his trip, Billy and the wolf get caught by Mexican
authorities who decide to give the wolf to a circus. When Billy is released,... Show more

From the literary criticism Borders and Boundaries of Religion and the Mind in Cormac
McCarthy s The Crossing by Susan Rojas, the ex priest was seen to exemplify
characteristics that made him both a foundation of the novel s spiritual core and an
example of how crossing a border of the mind can lead to negative effects. While Billy
crossing one of his mental boundaries made him harsher, it allowed him to survive in
the harsh environments he was in. However, for the ex priest, the mental boundaries
was what kept him sane and with purpose. Rojas states how the ex priest illustrates the
paradox of the boundaries and borders of the mind as these mental boundaries are
necessary evils because they provide the rigidity needed for a seeking mind and can
liberate and free the mind through containment (Rojas 2). The ex priest continuously
crosses these borders and boundaries which allow him to become more and more
aware of his own life and the actions he takes (7). The ex priest realized that he had
conflicts over which religion he belonged to, Catholic or Mormonism, as he states that
I am a Mormon. Or I was, showing that he was not sure where he belonged, and
continuously phasing from a religion to another, crossing mental borders continuously
(Rojas 8, McCarthy 140). These continuous mental crosses between two boundaries
made him lose sanity as his religious life was boundless, unmanaged, making it hard for
him to understand his true purpose, as seen in the literary criticism by Peter Mundik,
The Illusion of Proximity: The Ex:Priest and the Heretic in Cormac McCarthy s THE
CROSSING: Book II (Mundik). This proves the idea that crossing mental boundaries
leads to unchangeable mental alterations that may benefit or hurt a person. While Billy s
crossing of his mental boundary was only temporary
6. Essay On The Han Dynasty
The Qin Dynasty ended with the death of Shihuangdi and was followed by the Han
Dynasty after Lui Bang s army conquered the Qin Dynasty.. The Han Dynasty is known
as one of the greatest eras recognized in China. Lui Bang founded the Han dynasty in
206 BCE; it was the second dynasty of China. He started a bureaucracy founded on
intellect (Gill). Confucianismwas the main philosophy at this time, confucianism deals
primarily with moral conduct and ethical living and is often categorized as an ethical
system. It emphasizes the earthly, not the heavenly (What). Once paper was invented
literature became very popular. This prompted Sima Olan to write the Book of History.
This book contains the first record of Chinese history. Porcelain was also new at this
time and became a very popular (Western).
Fifth Century BCE is commonly referred to as the Golden Age of Athens. Athens culture
strongly revolved around trade. The Athenians traded all throughout the Aegean and
Mediterranean (Athens). Athens has provided more narratives, plays, and other literature
than any other Grecian State, such as the Iliad by Homer. Because of the ample amount
of writings Ancient Athens is typically studied from the Athenian point of view (The

The Romans were heavily influenced by Grecian culture, using Greek culture as a model
of which to build their own. The Romans have also heavily influenced modern life
throughout the world, for example the use of aqueduct water systems and sewers. Life
seemed to revolve around the Flavian Amphitheatre ,also known as the Roman Coliseum
in classical Rome (Culture). The main entertainment took place within the walls of the
coliseum. Gods and Goddesses like in Athens also play a massive role in the Roman
culture. Although they possess different names the deities shared very similar attributes
7. Dangers Of Loneliness And Social Isolation
As the UK population rapidly ages, one of the biggest challenges faced by the society
is that of loneliness and social isolation consequently the issue must be addressed in
the interest of the wider population and community. Loneliness is a subjective feeling
of a loss of meaningful social relationships, while social isolation is an objective
measurement indicating a lack of social interaction and relationships which could be
caused by deterioration in health (Biordi and Nicholson 2008). By responding to the
issues of loneliness and social isolation, it is possible that the quality of life for older
people could be improved thereby increasing the level of independence towards
expensive services (Ollonqvist et al 2008). Evidently it is estimated of those aged 65
and over between 5 and 6% of individuals expressed feelings of loneliness and 12% feel
isolated. Having said that, these numbers are likely to increase due to demographic
developments including family dispersal and the ageing in population as Greaves and
Farbus (2006) discussed in their study. In addition reiterating acute loneliness and social
isolation could have an impact on an individual s quality of life more so creating
detrimental health effects.
Loneliness and social isolation is a public health issue supported by researchers
highlighting the impact of social relationships on the risk of death as opposed to risks
which have already been established for example smoking and alcoholism (Greaves and

8. Causes Of The American Revolutionary War
The American Revolution also known as the American Revolutionary war and war of
independence. This war arose from conflict in 1776 between the residents of Great
Britain and the colonial Government, which represented British Crown. The
Intolerable Acts where one of the events that led to war. The Intolerable Acts, also
called Coercive Acts started in 1774 when these harsh laws were passed by the British
Parlements. These Acts were just meant to punish the colonists for the Boston Tea
party and other protests. The Intolerable acts were all bad but they did bring everyone
together. They brought everyone together so the colonists joined in a group and fought
the british because enough is enough and as one we had a great victory. (Appleby 119)
Another incident that occurred leading up to the war was the boston massacre. The
boston massacre happened on March 5, 1770 with a small argument between british
private Hugh White and a few colonists outside the custom house in Boston on King
Street. The argument began to escalate as more colonists gathered and began to harass
and throw sticks and snowballs at private white. Soon there was over 50 colonists at the
scene. Local British officer, Captain Thomas Preston, sent a number of soldiers to the
custom house to maintain order. After a few seconds the sight of british soldiers armed
with bayonets just aggravated the crowd further. They began to shout at the soldiers,
daring them to fire. Captain Preston later arrived and tried to

10. Masculinity In The Film Ripley s Aliens
While Ripley manages to use the technology, machinery and weaponry to defeat the
aliens, she tries to be as inventive and resourceful as possible to distinguish herself
from the militarised approach of the marines. And so when the marines start to be
wiped out one by one by the aliens, Ripley decides to take on a leadership role because
no one would listen to her at first and doesn t want to feel responsible for any more
deaths. At this point in the film, she destroys any fantasy version or perception of what
men want in women. We fully now know how Ripley is a person. She is pushy,
aggressive, rude, injured, suffering from PTSD, doesn t wear makeup, tired, smart,
motherly, angry, empathetic, and determined to save others, even at great cost to herself
which makes her character all the more heroic and masculine as a majority of these
attributes hold connotations with masculinity.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During the Reagan era in American society of the 1980s, there were more
opportunities for middle class college graduates and women for work as there was a

industry made it hard for men to find high paid full time work in industry, in which so
many working class men joined the military. Yet Ripley with all these male attributes
can relate more to men in the Reagan era. James Cameron rewrites Ripley as an action
hero, as Aliens (1986) is a military expedition/combat film. At the same time, the
political climate of the Reagan era informed the film s conservative revision of Ripley
into a socially authorized female role: the mother Ellen Ripley . (Gallardo C. Smith,

JJessica Goulet Mrs. Christian 1213.1915 04/12/13 Jonathan Swift s Writing Style
According to critics, Jonathan Swift s writing style has three characteristics, which
are mockery, details and panegyric writing. Harold Weber explains, Swift s verse
technique and the way in which he achieves his poetic effects, the disagreement over
the value of Swift s varied satiric masks (448). Weber defines Swift s use of mockery
as a satiric mask recurring in as self amusement in his literary works. Thomas Gilmore

A final example of his writing style in this poem is, A wicked rat her plaster stole
/ Half eat, and dragged it to his hole (59 60). Jonathan Swift qualifies the rat as wicked
detailing his actions, and further detailing the rat s actions by describing the plaster as
half eat and dragged. Clearly, Thomas B. Gilmore rightly critiqued Jonathan Swift s
writing style by pointing to the use of details. To pursue this further, all three works by
Jonathan Swift demonstrate Donald C. Mell s critique of his panegyric, praise writing
style. The first poem, The Lady s Dressing Room has three examples of Jonathan Swift
s writing style. This work states, By haughty Celia spent in dressing/ The goddess
from her chamber issues (2 3). The qualities haughty and goddess are assigned to
Celia; this is a form of praise. Jonathan Swift explains, When Celia in her glory shows
(135). The word glory exemplifies Celia to praise; this evidently illustrates his
panegyric writing style. Found within the title, The Lady s Dressing Room (?) is
Jonathan Swifts writing style. Jonathan Swift uses Lady which contributes to his
panegyric form of writing because the word lady is attributed to a woman respected
and held in higher esteem of others socially (definition from dictionary??). Similarly, A
Satirical Elegy of the Death of a Late General has three examples of panegyric writing.
This poem exclaims, His Grace!

culturally superfluous environment. This allowed me and my circle of friends to
express our tastes and partake in activities that we genuinely enjoyed: weekends at the
SFMOMA, brunching at La Note, watching ballets at the Opera House and so on. All
of these interests, in order to truly enjoy, requires a level of cultural capital but it also
demands economic capital. But habitus shapes more than just weekend interests. We
all received good grades, which then paved way to a four year university. Our tastes in
clothing were mostly identical. Even our tastes in boys aligned. But a humorous
indicator of our shared habitus is that we are all obsessively thin. If I didn t have money

In Berkeley, cultural capital is an indicator of social class; however, modern times have
created a new symbolic struggle ... one that works in reverse. Symbolic struggle is the
fight for social dominance. It is a game reflective of the higher class opinions; the middle
class attempts to join in, acknowledging the standards set by those above them as best ,
while the lowest class pushes back through affirming their own identity. Currently there is

and pop of dirty records, then you need to realize this can be causing damage to your
valuable albums. This paper will discuss cleaning records and storage of records
properly. The purpose is to help keep vinyl records preserved and sounding
magnificent for many years. First, what needs to be understood is that repeated plays of
dirty records which can include mold, dust, and grime in the grooves can cause
permanent damage to the record. The needle rides into the grooves and the soiled record
debris can wear down and ruin the grooves. So, the soundwill suffer causing distortion,
surface noise, and skipping of the record. The needle causes friction... Show more content

The main issues and concerns with storing records are preventing warping, mold, and
unexpected disaster such as a flood. To keep warping from becoming an issue, store
the albums vertically not laying on the side like a pancake. The huge amounts of
weight will compromise the integrity of the vinyl causing bowing and warping. The
area you store the albums in should be dry and have low humidity because extreme
heat and dampness can perpetuate mold and of course warping. The aspect of using
shelving and new record sleeves will keep excess dust and foreign material off the
records. Using a shelving system helps keep the records off the ground. Also, if you
are using the basement for storage, there s a potential for flooding or water damage and
the shelves can offer another layer of protection. Because, if the albums get wet, then
there could be irreversible damage to the covers and the mold spores can spread on the
vinyl which causes extreme surface noise and render
19. The Destruction Of The Sennacherib
Research Paper
Lord Byron, one of the major poets of England during the Romantic Period (1785 1830),
epitomized the essence of this movement of literature because Romanticism was
flourishing in the arts. In painting, literature, and music, one of the great Romantic
obsessions was the ancient past ( The Destruction of the Sennacherib ). Some of the
characteristics of Romanticism are belief in the common man, reverence for nature,
interest in the past, and optimism. All of Byron s poetry reflects most of the
characteristics, such as She Walks in Beauty and The Destruction of the Sennacherib.
Lord Byron acted as the model of the Romantic period by not only reflecting most of or
all of the Romantic ideals in just those two pieces, but he ... Show more content on

describes its subject as being possessed by beauty ( She Walks in Beauty ). This porem
describes her internal, external, spiritual, and intellectual beauty. In lines 16,17 Byron
describes Lady Wilmot Horton s internal beauty: But tell of days in goodness spent, a
mind at peace with all below (Byron 16,17). Because of her goodness and peace of
mind, this is exhibited through her external beauty, which he describes her beautiful hair
and soft face: Which waves in every raven
20. Cause of Homosexuality Essay
What exactly is a homosexual? It is a person sexually attracted to a person of their
own sex. Why do people become homosexuals? This is a question that has been asked
ever since the first homosexual person came out of the closet. People do not choose to
become homosexuals. There has never been a proven theory of why people become
homosexuals. There are three theories that try to explain why people become
homosexuals, they are: the Biological theory, Psychiatric theory, and the Sociological
theory.(Thio, 211) The Biological theory is broken down into three different parts. The
first one is the hormone theory which states that homosexual men have a low level of
male sex hormones and a homosexual female have a low level of female... Show more

Homosexuality is a very controversial subject. Some people do not accept it as well as
do others. Things that affect a society are the 5 institutions: religion, family, education,
politics, and economy. Religion is one institution that has strong influence on
homosexuality. Two religions used in this research paper are Mormon and Christian.
Mormons consider homosexuality very sinful. They believe that one should love the
sinner hate the sin.(www1) In the Bible, read by Christians, it considers homosexual
actions wrong.(Bender, 204) In the New Testament of the Bible, Paul says that
homosexuality is way for people to turn their backs away from God. It also says that
this is leading away from what is natural .(IBID) Christian parents have said that child
having a homosexual relationship is a painful problem to face.(IBID, 199)
If a teen is having feelings that he might be gay and is trying to cope with those
feelings, they see that they will have to deal with the society s hostile attitudes about
homosexuals. (Nardo, 65) Parents often hope and pray that their child will grow up to
be normal . This does not always happen and causes frustration in the family.(Bender,

21. King Lear Vs A Thousand Acres Analysis
King Lear vs A Thousand Acres
While it may appear that Jane Smiley s A Thousand Acres is nothing but a modernized
interpretation of Shakespeare s King Lear, one can see that below the surface these two
tales are anything but alike. Through Smiley s characters Larry, Caroline, Ginny and
Rose, it is easy to conclude that they contrast their parallels, Lear, Cordelia, Goneril and
Rose, greatly from Shakespeare s play. Among the multiple themes that make this
conclusion possible, the most prominent are the contrasting themes of relationships,
outcomes, character development and motivations.
At first, Shakespeare portrays King Lear as an arrogant man whose only concern is
himself; Lear has no problem relishing in his title and power as ruler, but has trouble
carrying out the responsibilities of a king and doing good for his people. ... Show more

Caroline is portrayed as an intelligent, successful and well put together daughter, which
is more than Cordelia was perceived as. While Caroline was in fact pushed away due
to her not agreeing with her fathers ideas, instead of being seen as the good daughter,
she is envied by her sisters. As for her relationship with her father Larry, she was more
or less forced into caring for him. Due to her ignorance towards his molestation of
Ginny and Rose, Caroline takes in her father and attempts to protect him from her
sisters who she believes are trying to hurt him. While Rose tries to convince Caroline
that Ginny and her are in fact trying to help, We did everything for you! We saved you
from Daddy! (Smiley 244), Caroline disagrees saying, Did I really have to be saved
from Daddy? From my own father? (Smiley 244). While Caroline is forced to care for
her father because her sisters would not, Cordelia willingly forgave and went with her
father. This difference in relationships only further aid the reader to conclude that
Shakespeare and Smiley s work are not

After reviewing the Seven Habits of Highly Effective People jump start program by
Stephen R. Covey, I have discovered a few areas of self improvement that would
positively affect my leadership style. The Seven Habits Profile worksheet suggests
that I have great strengths in areas of being aware of others and a few weaknesses in
the areas of beginning with the end in mind, putting first things first, and work/life
balance. These weaknesses mostly fall within the personal victory of achieving higher
effectiveness. Reflecting on the program and the results of the Seven Habits Profile, I
recognize my own personal weaknesses of being able to stay focused and organizing my

A2. Scholarly Leadership Theory Servant leadership has been around for thousands of
years. Though more notably within religious context, the subject of servant leadership
and the traits associated with success have blossomed greatly since the 1970 s when
Robert Greenleaf published his insights on the subject. Greenleaf expresses how
servant leaders exist in many areas, including business. Servant leadership, unlike
transactional, is focused on serving the individual needs of others before the needs of
the organization. The theory is that organizations will function at higher levels when
the personal needs of others are being met. Greenleaf also suggests, The servant leader
is a servant first (Greenleaf, 1977/2002, The Servant as Leader section, Who Is the
Servant Leader? para. 1). Evaluating my own management abilities and research in
leadership, I have taken great interest in the servant leadership theory. A few of my
greatest leadership strengths and weaknesses are related to my strong desire to see the
growth and success of others. Robert K. Greenleaf, author of, Servant Leadership: A

23. Electronic Health Record ( Ehr )
As computers, digital devices, and electronic health record (EHR) have become a
significant part in delivering health care, health informatics ethics has emerged as a
new set of standards in addition to existing codes of medical ethics (Hoyt and
Yoshihasi, 2014, p. 219). It is comprised of medicine, ethics, and informatics in health
care. As the International Medical Informatics Association s (IMIA) Code of Ethics
states, one of the general principles of information ethics pertains to information
privacy and security (Hoyt and Yoshihasi, 2014, p. 220). In response to a rapid
advancement in technologies, a concern for security has also grown. A drawback of a
significant increase in adoption of EHR would be the vulnerability of patients sensitive
information as frequently seen in cases of identity theft and breach in the retail industry
as of late. As of January 1, 2013, the Department of Health and Human Services
reported a staggering number of 81, 790 breaches of patient information in healthcare
(McDavid, 2013). The Maryland Developmental Disabilities Administration (DDA)
reported a case of a major breach for 9,700 patients protected health information (PHI)
between October 20 and 3 in 2014(Freeman, 2014). Names and social security numbers
of approximately 9,700 Marylanders with disabilities were hacked from its case
management provider Service Coordination Inc. s (SCI) computer systems. The hacked
documents included the clients medical assistance numbers, Medicaid

last 4,000 years China has been the oldest continuous civilization on Earth? The
Sumerians, Egyptians, and Chinese created flourishing civilizations filled with many
achievements in writing, architecture, and technology that made lasting contributions to
humankind.

Only a small, educated elite had the time to master this system. Despite some changes
made through the years, the fundamental principles of the Chinese system still endures
today. As a result, the legacy of the Chinese system is that people speaking essentially
different languages, such as Mandarin and Cantonese, can read and understand the same
text. The Chinese had a very unique form of architecture. A Chinese structure is based
on the principle of balance and symmetry. Office buildings, residences, temples, and
palaces all follow the principle that the main structure is the axis. Other structures are
positioned as two wings on either side to form the main room and the yard. The
distribution of interior space reflects Chinese social and ethical values. China had a very
advanced technology development. Bronze and iron played a major role. Weapons,
chariot fittings, musical instruments, and religious ritual vessels were made from it. One
of the most important contributions China made to humankind was its writing system
that united all parts of China. Other contributions include paper making, printing,
gunpowder, and the mariner s compass. Small inventions like these have made a huge
difference in our society today. Ancient civilizations all around have contributed
something to the world we live in today. Sumer, Egypt and China have had many

My family has several values such as religion and education. Education is something
my family has valued for many years and this is because of my grandfather Bishop
Leach Jr. Bishop Leach was born on September 17, 1924. When he was a young child he
joined Mt. Sinai A.M.E. Church in Pittsboro, NC. This church has been very important to
my family because we have been attending this church for generations. Bishop Leach
attended and graduated from Horton High School, which later became Horton Middle
School. He graduated at the shocking age of 15. Bishop served in the United States Army
once he finished high school. After serving in the Army, he then attended North Carolina
College, now North Carolina Central University (NCCU) where he graduated within
three years and obtained his B.S degree in social studies in 1952. While in college, he
married Myrtle Alston. The couple were married for forty nine years and had two sons
Bishop Bernard Leach and James Benjamin Leach.
Bishop s career in the Chatham County School System began as a teacher at Horton
High School. He taught there for many years and he touched a lot of people s lives to
the point where they tell me countless stories about him. After his tenure at Horton he got
promoted to assistant principal at Northwood High School after they integrated. He
eventually retired from the Chatham County School System after 33 years of dedicated
service. Bishop also
28. Fossil Fuels And Their Impact On The Environment
Fossil Fuels and Their Impact on the Environment The amount of fossil fuels being
deposited into the air should be controlled. Not only do fossil fuels pose a threat to the
environment, but also to human health. The problem is not only noticeable in the
depletion of human health, but also in the air, water, and land. Emissions are a
concerning contribution to other problems such as global warming and greenhouse
gases as well. One of the major factors of fossil fuels are vehicles. Vehicles emit
harmful gases into the air such as particulate matter, hydrocarbons, sulfur dioxide,
carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxides, greenhouse gases, carbon monoxide, and sulfur
dioxide. Emissions from vehicles are dangerous to the elderly, people who have asthma,
small children such as infants, and anyone who may have a different disease such as
cancer. When these aforementioned subjects breathe in the emissions from vehicles it
may cause health problems, or even worse death. In order to minimize the health risks
and problems, individuals can conserve energy and minimize the miles by doing tasks
such as carpooling or walking (Nutrient Pollution). There are many sources as well as
solutions to the effects of fossil fuels. Major contributors to emissions include cars and
trucks, coalfired power plants, large industrial operation, and ships and airplanes (Nutrient
Pollution). By limiting and keeping a close eye on these factors, it may save the
environment. Emissions include ammonia and
29. Safety Management System Essay
Safety Management Systems (SMS) have been presented as the future state of
commercial aviation. The objective of this capstone is to have a better understanding of
the SMS role in aviation. At United Airlines for example, SMS Corrective Action is used
as a reporting tool during the performance of the safety risk management. SMS is
characterized by four key elements also known as the four pillars (icao.int). They are,
safety risk management, safety policy, safety assurance and safety promotion. Those
pillars are the foundation of SMS, therefore, regroup all the main factors that affect the
commercial and general aviation industry safety. Safety Management System (SMS),
according to the International Civil Aviation Organization(ICAO) is a systematic
approach to managing safety, such as organizational structures, accountabilities, policies,
and procedures (icao.int). Unfortunately, couple years ago, as the aviation industry was
getting more and more attention from people, airline owners did not pay attention to
safety, it was the race for profit not safety. Customer well being came before employee s
satisfaction or health. Consequently, there were more employees injured while working
due to the lack of safety; aircraft accidents occurred more frequently and caused the
death of hundreds of people, and the loss of equipment. To resolve these problems,
airlines and aviation professionals around the world, with the help of the ICAO felt the
need to improve safety and maintenance
30. The Singer Of This Song Is Oli Sykes
Furthermore, I will use three secondary sources in this paragraph to further elaborate
the interpretation of this songs. I will begin first with the commentary by the actual
artist. The singer of this song is Oli Sykes. Oli Sykes is the lead singer of the band
called, Bring Me the Horizon. According from the site songfacts , Oli wrote these
lyrics as a tribute to his wife Hannah. Oli speaks about going through a rough time with
his wife. Oli says that the outcome was not looking so great. He claims this situation
was a realization for him. Oli states, no matter how bad being together can sometimes
get, the alternative is so much worse . What Oli is saying is that no matter the obstacle
they face together, it could always be much worse if they did not have each other.
When someone is accustomed to having someone else s support through hardships, it is
natural to feel worse when that person is no longer there to help. Therefore, losing
someone significant can only make the trials of life more difficult. He goes on to state
that this is a beautiful realizations that can only come from something really ugly . In
other words, trials and tribulations in a relationship are normal and appreciation derives
from this. I truly believe that people appreciate and value the smallest things when
horrible tragedies strike. The online book, Interpreting Music by Lawrence Kramer is
book which helps better understand why people interpret music differently. After these
studies, it is clear
