The Differences Between Native Americans And American...
When thinking about what the difference between how the Native American families
lived versus what families look like in 2016. There is a big gap in years to start off with
from 1776 to 2016 that is more than 240 years of a difference. Over that gap of years
many things have changed in what people look as a standard family. Families dynamics
are very different from how the Native Americans lived with their tribes and how
people live now. Native Americans were very close with family and lived in a very tight
community or also known as tribes. There are a couple things that Native Americans did
because it was a culture thing that they had done for years.
If you were a child, your father was a guest in your mother s home. Although strong
bonds existed between wives and husbands, a woman s ties to her maternal kin her
mother, her mother s brothers, her maternal cousins were generally stronger (Cherlin,
pg.46).
For boys when they hit puberty they had to move out of their parents house and into
men s ceremonial houses and were married soon after. Men never really went back to
living with their parents because women were supposed to be closer with their parents.
Also most of the men got married to women in a different tribe. But for girls they lived
with their parents tell they got married and when they got married they either lived in
the same house with the parents or on the parent s land. Also most of the marriages were
arranged by elders in the tribe to help gain better
Essay on Ty Cobb
Ty Cobb
Although often overshadowed in baseball history by Babe Ruth, Ty Cobb is
considered by many sports enthusiasts to be the greatest player to ever play the game
of baseball. Tyrus Raymond Cobb, was born December 18, 1886 in Banks County in
Narrows, Georgia. He quickly gained much notoriety for his great skill in baseball and
eventually earned a position with the Detroit Tigers at the age of nineteen, after
playing for several semi pro and Sally league teams. Cobb compiled twelve batting
titles, a .367 career average, and totaled 4191 hits (second all time) in a career that
spanned twenty two years (1905 1928). With these and other superb achievements, Ty
was inducted as the first member of the National Baseball Hall of Fame ... Show more

Young Ty decided to defy his father s future plans for him and try his luck at becoming a
professional baseball player.
There really was no doubt that the unrefined boy could accomplish his dreams because
he was such a hard worker. Cobb had to call up his resolute father and convince him of
leaving Georgia to try out for a semi pro team in Anniston, Alabama.
With this approval and ultimatum for success from a man that Ty admired so greatly, he
seemingly needed no more motivation and determination to achieve his dream of playing
in the major leagues. But, Ty Cobbwould receive much more cause to excel.
Unfortunately, the motivation would stem from the murder of his role model, W.H.
Worsening the fact that Ty lost a great friend and role model was that his mother was
accused of committing the crime. As the story goes, rumors spread around town about
the infidelity of Amanda Cobb. W.H. devised a plan to spy on Amanda during one night
when he said he would be out of town on business. W.H. climbed on the roof of the
house and through an upper level window into Amanda s bedroom. Supposedly, it was
there where Amanda shot Mr. Cobb.
Nevertheless, Amanda was later acquited, but the loss of his father formed in Cobb a
sense of urgency and purpose to his life. After this tragic misfortune, Cobb began playing
baseball with a hellbent attitude. Cobb would not take no for an
Social Action At The Lower East Side Tenement Museum
Case study 3: Social action at the Lower East Side Tenement Museum
Ruth J. Abram, who wanted to create a museum centered upon an experience common to
the majority of Americans, founded the Lower East Side Tenement Museum. Abram
believed that the immigrant experience was something that diverse groups of people
could relate to and unite together on, moving Americans to participate in a national
conversation with similarly situated, contemporary immigrants and other outsiders
(Abram 2005:21). As we can see, Abram has been dedicated from the start to civic
engagement through community collaboration.
Abram continually ensures that the museum has the resources and insight needed for
community engagement. This is done in several ways. For instance, Abram and the
Board of Trustees are committed to ensuring that there is funding for not only the various
programs the museum engage in, but also for the staff s needs. They are committed to
having a diverse and inclusive team, comprised of individuals from multiple
backgrounds. Furthermore, they have 32 full time staff positions and 30 part time
docents (Abram 2005). It is this kind of commitment that has contributed to successful
and sustainable community collaboration. Staff members often speak more than one
language and have experienced many of the same issues that past and present
immigrants have faced such as welfare (Abram 2005). This brings in diverse experiences
and stories into the museum space.
As Abram has pointed out The
Essay On Outsourcing
No matter what type of business you investigate, they all have the same bottom line.
They are all in business to make a profit. Sometimes those profit margins can be slim.
And sometimes it can be certain aspects of the business that cause such slim margins.
They have higher costs that cause some companies to second guess whether a department
is worth having. Higher costs in some departments may cause cuts in other departments
to help fund the activities. Sometimes businesses don t have an option when it comes to
having a certain department, most businesses only have departments that are crucial to
the business and just cutting those departments out would ruin the business entirely. No

For as popular as outsourcing is, the benefits of this practice should be outstanding. So,
what are some of these benefits that companies are taking advantage of? Well for each
business the benefits that they receive would vary based on the different aspects of each
company. Some companies would gain from cheaper labor costs that you could get by
outsourcing to a different company that takes place in a different country. These other
countries may not have to worry about a minimum wage requirement or competing
wages from other companies. They may also have a high population that would provide
for the possibility of a quicker production process or the ability to produce at a higher
volume in a shorter amount of time. Another benefit that a company could gain from
outsourcing would be that they could save a large amount of set up or investment
money. If a company wanted to open and employ their own call center or help desk, they
would have to come up with and spend a ton of money and resources. First, they would
have to invest into buying a building, or even just land and then the cost of building a
building. They would then have to invest in all of the furniture and computer systems
that it would take to run such a function. Let alone the cost of employing enough people
to staff the entire function of the company which would be a lot of people to employ right
Vard The Evolution Of The Film Genre
Films are divided by different genres a French word meaning type or kind (Neale
Stephen, 7), including melodrama, comedy, and tragedy. Genre has occupied an
important place in the study of the cinema for over thirty years. One of the biggest
genres that has been evolved over the years and has many implications is melodrama.
As a theatrical genre, melodrama came into existence in the late eighteenth century in
France and Germany (Neale Stephen, 184). In the following century melodrama genre
has spread and developed quick from France to Britain, America, and the rest of Europe.
The melodrama initial definition was both formal and specific: melodrama was a

Differences Between Modern Liberalism And Modern Politics
The moment the founding fathers of the United States officially declared separation from
the monarchy of England several policies and ideologies were thought of to be the future
of the country. Today we have centralistic ideologies of both Modern liberalism and
modern conservatism which are rooted into the path the founding fathers chose. These
roots date back to the 17th century up to the early 20th century yet our nation in modern
times is rooted into two different political majority parties which carry different
ideologies yet similar interests (within themselves). We have to understand these parties
and dominant ideologies to even comprehend American politics and understand the
similarities and differences of ideologies of parties. Both ideologies of modern
conservatismand modern liberalismare rooted within classical liberalism/conservatism
and how it has evolved into our modern day versions according to factors of present
and past day along with how it evolved in other countries (England). Along with that we
see how our majority parties have adopted ideologies of these beliefs and how our
politics have been influenced by these ideals.
First we must look at the root of classical conservatism to understand how our modern
ideologies rooted from this ideology. Classical Conservatism (also known as traditional
conservatism) was mainly around the 17th to 19th century in which the adapters of this
ideal Sought to defend the status quo against the challenges of modernity,

Pre Selection Or Deliberate Election
Pre selection or Deliberate Election: Village Election in China
By Kuo LIAO
Intro
The village is the most basic administrative unit in China, whose administrative units
range from basic to advance is village, country, city and province. Village self
governing has been viewed as a very democratic field in China and democratization in
Chinese villages is stable and rapid, which impresses the world and raise scholars
research interests. Researches have been declared in almost every field of village election
in China, from election, decision, government to supervision.
In 1987, village elections began nationally. This essay would not illustrate and evaluate

It would be example of good governance and democratization than the mask of monopoly.
Organic Law of Villager Committees
Village Election Law was pursued in the 1980s, enacted nationally since 1987 and after
further extended and revised. It becomes Organic Law of Villager Committees in the
1998. Village election is part of village self governing, which appears in the 1982
revision of Article 111 of the Chinese Constitution Law. Organic Law of Villager
Committees confirms the absolute, multi candidate election of village committees and is
the milestone in the democratisation of China.
According to Article 11 of Organic Law of Villager Committees, villager committees
are elected for a term of three years and consist of committees director, committee s
associate director and committee s member. General elections are held every three
years and the former Villager Committees would be replaced. Organic Law of Villager
Committees specifies the qualification of candidates. Production of candidates requires
three steps. First, the candidates should be nominated directly by the voters. Second,
candidates should be reviewed for qualification by villager election committees. Last, all
candidates would be published in the official list of candidates to inform the voters.
These three steps are under the organizing of the villager election committees. According
to Article 121 of Organic Law of Villager Committees, villager

Socialization Is The Process By Which Someone Is Becomes...
Socialization is the process by which someone becomes human . This is a process
where people acquire essential behaviors to adequately participate in society. People
become human , there are no in bred or innate instincts to guide development.
Sociological concepts in this field include, ferals and isolates, marasmus, Looking
Glass Self, Game and Play Stages as well as the dramaturgical approach. These
theories have contributed to the foundations of socialization. George Herbert Mead
developed the Game and Play Stages theory, according to Mead, children pass through
three stages while developing a sense of selfhood. The three stages are the Preparatory
stage, this is children from birth to three years old. In this stage children interact by
means of imitation. According to the website, The Concept of Play and Child
Development. They learn to employ gestures, objects, and eventually words and other
symbols to communicate and interact with significant others. The next stage is the
Play stage this includes children that are three to five years old. Children learn self
development and interaction through play in this stage. This stage is critical because
the children learn to behave in a certain way through role play only when they have
had similar experiences such as going to school, going to the doctor for medical
checkup or to the dentist or to learn more about how the world works. Playing helps
children to develop a sense of what s appropriate and expected. Game
Drug Testing Welfare Recipients Essay
Is it fair that in order to obtain a job, some people go through drug testing while drug
and alcohol abusers receive free, no strings attached, financial assistance (see appendix
A)? Food stamps and Medicaid are provided to low and no income Americans who
would otherwise do without. According to heritage.org, a majority of the illegal drug use
in American adults is tied to unemployed citizens. While there are many people who
disagree with testing welfarerecipients, the truth is that the pros greatly outweigh the
cons. The long term improvements that drug testing will have on the country are
substantial. The wellbeing and stability of America s children, unemployment, fairness
across the board for all Americans and the economy; all play... Show more content on

Furthermore, the concern is directed to the wellbeing of the children of the recipients
who do not fulfill program requirements. Thankfully, the NCSL also explains that
those who are deemed ineligible for not completely the programs can designate a
protective payee to receive benefits on behalf of the child(ren) (National Conference
of State Legislatures, 2014). In summary, drug testing welfare recipients will enable
families to do two things: feed their children and get help for the parent or guardian
who is abusing substances. Another issue that is greatly affected by the abused welfare
programs is unemployment. The unemployment rate goes beyond the lack of available
jobs in the U.S.; unemployment also falls back on the individuals without jobs. While
there are many unemployed Americans who do everything in their power to find a job,
there are also several who abuse the system. Heritage.org reports that of the adults
reported to be using illegal drugs, a majority of the users were unemployed. As seen in
Appendix 3, 17.5% of adults using illegal drugs in 2010 were also unemployed.
Additionally, according to the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism,
severe barriers to unemployment were experienced by substance abusing women by
more than double of those who do not abuse substances. Not only would tax payers and

All Human Beings Possess A Basic Understanding Of Love
All human beings possess a basic understanding of love and are able to express love
through verbalizations, emotions, gestures, or other acts of kindness; however, the
condition of the human heart is tainted by sin and so is love in terms of humanity. Thus,
human beings are unable to understand and comprehend love s truest form which is
found in the embodiment God s being. God s love is communicated to mankind through
the covenants, the wonders of creation, the personhood of JesusChrist, and the power of
the Holy Spiritwho subsequently seals God s offer of salvation through the atoning death
of Jesus Christ. Furthermore, those whom God allows Himself to be known can also
know God s love through God s providential care and sustainment... Show more content

Hence, with all the confusion and mystery that surrounds the Trinity, it becomes difficult
to understand how each member of the Trinity shares in the attribute of God s love.
Without the Trinity, human beings cannot appreciate the attribute of God s love.
Thus, God reveals His attribute of love through Jesus Christ (John 3:16) while Jesus
displays the attribute of God s love through the crucifixion (John 15:13), and the Holy
Spirit makes the attribute known through the regeneration (Titus 3:5) of the believer
(Dockery, 1992). Furthermore, love itself is in triunity; hence, there must be the
lover, the love, and the loved (Conner, 1980, p. 53). In the Godhead, the attribute of
God s love finds a perfect expression (Matthew 3:16; John 14:31) in the triunity of the
Father who is the lover, the Son who is the loved, and the Holy Spirit who is love
(Conner, 1980, p. 53). Thus, the Father who so loved (John 3:16) gave the Son his love
(Colossians 1:13) and the love of the Spirit (Romans 15:30; Galatians 5:22) which is
expressed to mankind not only in creation but in redemption where the invisible is made
visible (Conner, 1980).
Adding to the complexity of God s love is the fact that the attribute of God s love is not
easily seen in the Holy Spirit as the Holy Spirit never truly reveals Himself to human
consciousness; hence, the

this will have a big impact on what they can do in all areas of development including

Essay on The Benefits of High Quality Child Care
It is common knowledge that a parent is considered the most efficient caregiver for
their children. It s also known that with daily responsibilities of caring for a child
financially, parents partake in full time and/or part time employment. While needing to
do so, many children attend daycare/preschool facilities. Granted, it is the parent s
responsibility to cautiously select where they decide to take their children. This is
because parents know that while they are away for numerous hours of the day, their
children are in the hands of another care provider and that their care would have an
enormous impact on their children. At a young age, a child s social and cognitive skills
are continuing to take shape and the amount of time spent in... Show more content on

While daycare/ childcare centers provide a safe haven for young children and left in the
care of licensed caregivers, there is more to daycare then just temporary relief for parents.
These facilities offer a nurturing and fun learning environment to promote curiosity,
innovation, and continuous growth in developmental abilities and positivity in children,
and they also have the ability to provide encouraging and engaging activities that
endorse emotional, social, and academic development (Phillips 1987). Within these
facilities, high quality care calls for each child reach greater levels of learning and can
develop skills at their own pace under supervision.
Along with knowing the purpose of quality daycare/child care facilities, the next
important factor is to be aware of what generates a high quality daycare/child care
facility. It is vital to know the characteristics because these prime objectives are the
driving forces influenced by what children need in order to succeed and grow in their
developmental skills. Fundamentally, High quality [preschool] education can support
early development in ways that yield long term social, cognitive and emotional benefits
(Barnett 2005, p1). The most essential aspect of a high quality facility are the trained,
certified and attentive teachers hired to support children s developmental needs. They
ensure this by respectful interaction,
Persuasive Essay On Motor Learning
Last year as a 2nd bachelor degree seeking student, I volunteered to participate in a
motor learning study about putting golf balls that aimed to replicate previous studies
[my basis for my proposal] that revealed learners studying and practicing a motor skill
with the expectation of having to teach the skillcould experience enhanced motor learning
compared to learners expecting to be tested on the skill. One idea for future research was
to conduct a similar study with novice, student pilots who had never received flight
instruction to attempt a replication of similar findings in the development of motor
learning theory, specifically the development of theory regarding the acquisition phase of
learning a new skill (Daou, Lohse, Miller, 2016).
What key suggestion for future research did the authors address in their study?
The study addressed a shortcoming in the small body of literature indicating that
expecting to teach may enhance the learning of declarative knowledge, such as academic
information. Previous research had not investigated the effects of expecting to teach on
motor learning [such as putting a golf ball], which relies heavily on procedural
knowledge. They sought to determine if the participant s [expecting to teach] learning
was indirectly enhanced by motivation to spend more time studying and practicing or if
the participant s learning was directly [as revealed in a previous study] improved after
statistically controlling the quantity of studying and
Sample Community Health Risk Paper
Vulnerable individuals are those who are incapable to resist or cope with certain
circumstances in life. Exposure to negative physical, economic, social, and political
factors may lead individuals to prolong suffering in life. I am currently working
approximately close to the Little Haiti community situated in Miami Dade, Florida. This
community is seen as one of the poorest communities in Miami Dade. Povertyis one of
the most common issue that impacts certain individuals life and negatively influencing
their health(Jones Smith, 2014).Thus, people living in poverty, people with poor social
status, people of color, people with immigration issues, people marginalized by their
sexual preference, children, people with disabilities etc., are at risk to get sick, therefore
they become greatly vulnerable (Jones Smith, 2014).The information that I had collected
from the windshield survey about the Little Haiti community led me to identify several
groups of vulnerable people within their population. Among these groups, I will pay a
particular attention to the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As stated above elderly are at risk of vulnerability due to mental, physical, economic,
and social issues. These issues influence their lives predisposing them of developing
several health problems. Health risk factors increase with age, the U.S Centers for
Disease control and Prevention (CDC) identified heart disease as the leading killer
among individuals older than 65 years old. The (CDC) described that 37 percent of
men including 26 percent women age 65 and older are affected by this chronic disease
(Vann, M. R., 2015). This study demonstrates that elderly are one of the vulnerable
category, they are challenged by many health conditions, resources are available to
provide them with adequate assistance, and healthy people 2020 objectives meet their
Positive Influence On Middle School Life
I believe I`m a very influential person to be around. So I put in a lot of time and
dedication to help others in the community or my school. What made me want to get
involved was my Freshmen year of High School, I was involved in AVID and SOAR but
my mentors didn t talk to me, no one was really there too show me what to do or how to
do it. So, I figured I would change that and be a positive influence in someone else s life.
Recently I have helped the local Middle Schoolwith their Step Team. Not only have I
been a coach and showed them a few skills to better themselves, but I hope they can see
me as a big sister that they can come to for anything. In school i m a mentor in the Avid
Club and SOAR Program along with many other of my classmates.
Imagination And Symbolism In Finding Neverland
Trust, love, and loyalty; thrown out the door to fulfill the needs of a widowed mother
and her children. When James Barrie meets the Davie family in the park one evening,
his life takes a hit in order to bring back the imagination of a child, and his own. In the
movie Finding Neverland, James Barrie, an intelligent, open minded, play writer,
pushes away the tedious people in his life that were once important to him, in order to
save his own career, and the Davie boys childhood. James Barrie comes off as a very
mysterious man within the first scenes of the movie. His dark slicked back hair and
well tailored suits give off this impression. James always seems to be dressed in formal
attire. His wife, Mary, seems to be dressed well throughout the movie as well, which tells
the viewer that they are a wealthy... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As James struggles to write a play that will be fancied by the critics, the conflict dwells
into a much larger picture. Society begins to think that James is cheating on his wife,
and possibly molesting the children. He remains very positive and calm, despite the
wicked thoughts of his own wife, and the rest of the community. James continues to be
there for the family and does not change his aspects in the making. James Barrie seems
to symbolize the idea of imagination throughout the entire movie. When times get tough,
he quickly comes up with an idea to solve the problem. James constantly tries to get
Peter s imagination flowing and convince his mind into the idea of being a child. James
is the protagonist in this film, or hero. He constantly shows compassion and does
anything in his power to help those in need. The antagonist, or bad guy, in this film is
Sylvia s unidentified illness. It continually threatens her life throughout the majority of
the movie, until it eventually takes the last parent of the Davie boys. James tries to take
Sylvia to the doctor multiple times, but she
SES Mission Statement
Organization and Administration Final Exam: Question 2
According to researchers, the experiences of students in higher education have been
examined through a variety of lenses. These include race, ethnicity, gender, and sexual
orientation. Low socioeconomic status (SES) students are outside the mainstream and
arguably equally disadvantaged in higher education. SES, however, has received little
attention in comparison to the aforementioned special interest groups (Walpole, 2003).
Scholars who have worked to address this gap in the literature, found low SES and high
SES students exhibit different behaviors in college choice, matriculation, persistence,
and post secondary enrollment (Walpole, 2003; John and Paulsen, 2002). These
variances demonstrate that students with greater financial concerns are more at risk in
terms of access to and success in college. This essay will address the impact of SES on
college access and success. In addition, this essay will analyze the mission statement of
The University of Texas at Austin (UT Austin) for connections to issues of SES in
college access and/or success. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This, along with pressures from policymakers, led to practices that emphasized SES as a
measure of academic success that negatively impacted the matriculation of
underrepresented students. These practices rewarded higher SES students and penalized
lower SES, resulting in misaligned financial packages that impacted their access to the
institution and ability persist. Aligning of institutional scholarship to inform institutional
policy is one example that would better represent the university s mission of advancing
society through research, creative activity, and scholarly inquiry. When combined with
its pledge to public service, the institution has a greater ability to frame its work and
positively impact issues of access and success for low SES
A Social Web Laced With Poison
A Social Web Laced With Poison Mark Mckinnon, vice president of an international
communications consulting firm stated, Technology and social media have brought
power back to the people. It makes sense that he would possess such a positive view of
social media, because his job more or less depends on it. However, the reality is a little
less sunshine and rainbows. Social media has undoubtedly changed the way humans can
communicate with each other, even making it possible to contact people in a far off
country. There is a bit of a catch though. For all of its perks, social media is creating a
profoundly negative effect on those that use it. Through social media s constant influence
on lives, millions are left with the desire to change... Show more content on

The Pew Research Center reports that, As of January 2014, 74% of online adults use
social networking sites. ( Social Networking Factsheet ) These networking sites are
convenient, well known, and almost essential nowadays. Because of this, social
media cannot be ignored or turned off, so whatever message it has for the world is
going to be heard by millions. Unfortunately for the world, that message happens to be
one of self hatred and thirst for fame. One of the key features of social media sites is
also a significant source of the problems. The sharing and viewing of images is a
staple of any social media site, and some are even comprised of nothing else. Selfie
generation indeed. However, what most people never realize is that everyone of those
images is a devastating attack on fragile self images. Nearly all the images of
celebrities and supermodels have been altered in order to be more perfect , resulting
on an idolization of body type that not even the supermodels truly have. This trickery
is not a well keep secret, and many people are fully aware of the falseness, but after
seeing it day after day, it start to get into one s head. An inquiry by the All Party
Parliamentary Group on Body Image heard evidence that girls as young as five were
worrying about their size and their appearance. Adults were not immune from these
negative attitudes either, with about 60% of the public feeling ashamed of the way they
looked (Roxby)

company had another offer and the contract was not successful and Teamster refused

Biography of Wyatt Earp Essay
Biography of Wyatt Earp
Wyatt Earp, born Wyatt Berry Stapp Earp, was born on March 19, 1848 in
Manmouth, Illinois to Nicholas and Virginia Earp. When Wyatt was two, his parents
moved him across the Mississippi River to Pella, Iowa. He was considered a great
western lawman. His first experience as a lawman was as a constable of Lamar,
Missouri for four months in the year 1870. In April, 1875, he was appointed to the
Wichita Kansas police force only to be released from that job on April 2, 1876 for
insubordination. After that, Wyatt moved to Dodge City, Kansas where he served as a
police man three separate times. The first time he served from May 17 until September
9, 1876; the second time he served was from July 6 until ... Show more content on

A very historical event occurred soon after Wyatt took the detective job with
Wells, Fargo Company; the Gunfight at the O.K. Corral. This event is very controversial
even today. According to the name of the event, the shutout occurred in the back
entrance of the O.K. Corral. Yet, according to the research that I have done, the
shootout actually occurred about half a block over from the O.K. Corral in the side
yard of ex mayor William A. Harwood and from there it spread out into the middle of
Fremont
Street. Of course, the Gunfight at the O.K. Corral sounds much better than the
Gunfight in Harwood s Yard and Fremont Street so I guess someone decided to change
it. O.K. Corral has much more of a Western ring to it. Personally, I think the
Gunfight in Tombstone sounds pretty good, but there s no point trying to change it now.
Virgil, Wyatt s older brother, was Tombstone s city marshal at the time of the shootout.
He was also a deputy U.S. marshal. At the time of the gunfight, Wyatt considered himself
a saloonkeeper, since he had a piece of the gambling winnings at the Oriental
Saloon. This event included four of the Old West s best known law enforcers and also
some of the Old West s best known villains . The three Earp brothers; Virgil, Wyatt and
Morgan all participated in the gunfight with Doc Holliday at their side. John Doc
Holliday was a good friend of Wyatt s plus he had a

  • 2. The Differences Between Native Americans And American... When thinking about what the difference between how the Native American families lived versus what families look like in 2016. There is a big gap in years to start off with from 1776 to 2016 that is more than 240 years of a difference. Over that gap of years many things have changed in what people look as a standard family. Families dynamics are very different from how the Native Americans lived with their tribes and how people live now. Native Americans were very close with family and lived in a very tight community or also known as tribes. There are a couple things that Native Americans did because it was a culture thing that they had done for years. If you were a child, your father was a guest in your mother s home. Although strong bonds existed between wives and husbands, a woman s ties to her maternal kin her mother, her mother s brothers, her maternal cousins were generally stronger (Cherlin, pg.46). For boys when they hit puberty they had to move out of their parents house and into men s ceremonial houses and were married soon after. Men never really went back to living with their parents because women were supposed to be closer with their parents. Also most of the men got married to women in a different tribe. But for girls they lived with their parents tell they got married and when they got married they either lived in the same house with the parents or on the parent s land. Also most of the marriages were arranged by elders in the tribe to help gain better
  • 3. Essay on Ty Cobb Ty Cobb Although often overshadowed in baseball history by Babe Ruth, Ty Cobb is considered by many sports enthusiasts to be the greatest player to ever play the game of baseball. Tyrus Raymond Cobb, was born December 18, 1886 in Banks County in Narrows, Georgia. He quickly gained much notoriety for his great skill in baseball and eventually earned a position with the Detroit Tigers at the age of nineteen, after playing for several semi pro and Sally league teams. Cobb compiled twelve batting titles, a .367 career average, and totaled 4191 hits (second all time) in a career that spanned twenty two years (1905 1928). With these and other superb achievements, Ty was inducted as the first member of the National Baseball Hall of Fame ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Young Ty decided to defy his father s future plans for him and try his luck at becoming a professional baseball player. There really was no doubt that the unrefined boy could accomplish his dreams because he was such a hard worker. Cobb had to call up his resolute father and convince him of leaving Georgia to try out for a semi pro team in Anniston, Alabama. With this approval and ultimatum for success from a man that Ty admired so greatly, he seemingly needed no more motivation and determination to achieve his dream of playing in the major leagues. But, Ty Cobbwould receive much more cause to excel. Unfortunately, the motivation would stem from the murder of his role model, W.H. Worsening the fact that Ty lost a great friend and role model was that his mother was accused of committing the crime. As the story goes, rumors spread around town about the infidelity of Amanda Cobb. W.H. devised a plan to spy on Amanda during one night when he said he would be out of town on business. W.H. climbed on the roof of the house and through an upper level window into Amanda s bedroom. Supposedly, it was there where Amanda shot Mr. Cobb. Nevertheless, Amanda was later acquited, but the loss of his father formed in Cobb a sense of urgency and purpose to his life. After this tragic misfortune, Cobb began playing baseball with a hellbent attitude. Cobb would not take no for an

Abram, who wanted to create a museum centered upon an experience common to the majority of Americans, founded the Lower East Side Tenement Museum. Abram believed that the immigrant experience was something that diverse groups of people could relate to and unite together on, moving Americans to participate in a national conversation with similarly situated, contemporary immigrants and other outsiders (Abram 2005:21). As we can see, Abram has been dedicated from the start to civic engagement through community collaboration. Abram continually ensures that the museum has the resources and insight needed for community engagement. This is done in several ways. For instance, Abram and the Board of Trustees are committed to ensuring that there is funding for not only the various programs the museum engage in, but also for the staff s needs. They are committed to having a diverse and inclusive team, comprised of individuals from multiple backgrounds. Furthermore, they have 32 full time staff positions and 30 part time docents (Abram 2005). It is this kind of commitment that has contributed to successful and sustainable community collaboration. Staff members often speak more than one language and have experienced many of the same issues that past and present immigrants have faced such as welfare (Abram 2005). This brings in diverse experiences and stories into the museum space. As Abram has pointed out The
  • 5. Essay On Outsourcing No matter what type of business you investigate, they all have the same bottom line. They are all in business to make a profit. Sometimes those profit margins can be slim. And sometimes it can be certain aspects of the business that cause such slim margins. They have higher costs that cause some companies to second guess whether a department is worth having. Higher costs in some departments may cause cuts in other departments to help fund the activities. Sometimes businesses don t have an option when it comes to having a certain department, most businesses only have departments that are crucial to the business and just cutting those departments out would ruin the business entirely. No one will ever show up to work if the part of the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For as popular as outsourcing is, the benefits of this practice should be outstanding. So, what are some of these benefits that companies are taking advantage of? Well for each business the benefits that they receive would vary based on the different aspects of each company. Some companies would gain from cheaper labor costs that you could get by outsourcing to a different company that takes place in a different country. These other countries may not have to worry about a minimum wage requirement or competing wages from other companies. They may also have a high population that would provide for the possibility of a quicker production process or the ability to produce at a higher volume in a shorter amount of time. Another benefit that a company could gain from outsourcing would be that they could save a large amount of set up or investment money. If a company wanted to open and employ their own call center or help desk, they would have to come up with and spend a ton of money and resources. First, they would have to invest into buying a building, or even just land and then the cost of building a building. They would then have to invest in all of the furniture and computer systems that it would take to run such a function. Let alone the cost of employing enough people to staff the entire function of the company which would be a lot of people to employ right

Differences Between Modern Liberalism And Modern Politics The moment the founding fathers of the United States officially declared separation from the monarchy of England several policies and ideologies were thought of to be the future of the country. Today we have centralistic ideologies of both Modern liberalism and modern conservatism which are rooted into the path the founding fathers chose. These roots date back to the 17th century up to the early 20th century yet our nation in modern times is rooted into two different political majority parties which carry different ideologies yet similar interests (within themselves). • 11. Socialization Is The Process By Which Someone Is Becomes... Socialization is the process by which someone becomes human . This is a process where people acquire essential behaviors to adequately participate in society. People become human , there are no in bred or innate instincts to guide development. Sociological concepts in this field include, ferals and isolates, marasmus, Looking Glass Self, Game and Play Stages as well as the dramaturgical approach. These theories have contributed to the foundations of socialization. George Herbert Mead developed the Game and Play Stages theory, according to Mead, children pass through three stages while developing a sense of selfhood. The three stages are the Preparatory stage, this is children from birth to three years old. In this stage children interact by means of imitation. According to the website, The Concept of Play and Child Development. They learn to employ gestures, objects, and eventually words and other symbols to communicate and interact with significant others. The next stage is the Play stage this includes children that are three to five years old. Children learn self development and interaction through play in this stage. This stage is critical because the children learn to behave in a certain way through role play only when they have had similar experiences such as going to school, going to the doctor for medical checkup or to the dentist or to learn more about how the world works. Playing helps children to develop a sense of what s appropriate and expected. Game
  • 12. Drug Testing Welfare Recipients Essay Is it fair that in order to obtain a job, some people go through drug testing while drug and alcohol abusers receive free, no strings attached, financial assistance (see appendix A)? Food stamps and Medicaid are provided to low and no income Americans who would otherwise do without. According to heritage.org, a majority of the illegal drug use in American adults is tied to unemployed citizens. While there are many people who disagree with testing welfarerecipients, the truth is that the pros greatly outweigh the cons. The long term improvements that drug testing will have on the country are substantial. Furthermore, the concern is directed to the wellbeing of the children of the recipients who do not fulfill program requirements. Thankfully, the NCSL also explains that those who are deemed ineligible for not completely the programs can designate a protective payee to receive benefits on behalf of the child(ren) (National Conference of State Legislatures, 2014). In summary, drug testing welfare recipients will enable families to do two things: feed their children and get help for the parent or guardian who is abusing substances. Another issue that is greatly affected by the abused welfare programs is unemployment. The unemployment rate goes beyond the lack of available jobs in the U.S.; unemployment also falls back on the individuals without jobs. While there are many unemployed Americans who do everything in their power to find a job, there are also several who abuse the system. Heritage.org reports that of the adults reported to be using illegal drugs, a majority of the users were unemployed. As seen in Appendix 3, 17.5% of adults using illegal drugs in 2010 were also unemployed. Additionally, according to the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism, severe barriers to unemployment were experienced by substance abusing women by more than double of those who do not abuse substances. Not only would tax payers and the
  • 13. All Human Beings Possess A Basic Understanding Of Love All human beings possess a basic understanding of love and are able to express love through verbalizations, emotions, gestures, or other acts of kindness; however, the condition of the human heart is tainted by sin and so is love in terms of humanity. Thus, human beings are unable to understand and comprehend love s truest form which is found in the embodiment God s being. God s love is communicated to mankind through the covenants, the wonders of creation, the personhood of JesusChrist, and the power of the Holy Spiritwho subsequently seals God s offer of salvation through the atoning death of Jesus Christ. Furthermore, those whom God allows Himself to be known can also know God s love through God s providential care and sustainment... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Hence, with all the confusion and mystery that surrounds the Trinity, it becomes difficult to understand how each member of the Trinity shares in the attribute of God s love. Without the Trinity, human beings cannot appreciate the attribute of God s love. Thus, God reveals His attribute of love through Jesus Christ (John 3:16) while Jesus displays the attribute of God s love through the crucifixion (John 15:13), and the Holy Spirit makes the attribute known through the regeneration (Titus 3:5) of the believer (Dockery, 1992). Furthermore, love itself is in triunity; hence, there must be the lover, the love, and the loved (Conner, 1980, p. 53). In the Godhead, the attribute of God s love finds a perfect expression (Matthew 3:16; John 14:31) in the triunity of the Father who is the lover, the Son who is the loved, and the Holy Spirit who is love (Conner, 1980, p. 53). Thus, the Father who so loved (John 3:16) gave the Son his love (Colossians 1:13) and the love of the Spirit (Romans 15:30; Galatians 5:22) which is expressed to mankind not only in creation but in redemption where the invisible is made visible (Conner, 1980). Adding to the complexity of God s love is the fact that the attribute of God s love is not easily seen in the Holy Spirit as the Holy Spirit never truly reveals Himself to human consciousness; hence, the

Then, Victor and Thomas get in a car accident with a drunk man and Victor sees the similarities of his father and the drunken man but also with himself. He doesn t want to lie like his father did, and not tell anyone the true cause of the fire, or like the drunken man did when he said the crash wasn t his fault. • 22. Essay on The Benefits of High Quality Child Care It is common knowledge that a parent is considered the most efficient caregiver for their children. It s also known that with daily responsibilities of caring for a child financially, parents partake in full time and/or part time employment. While needing to do so, many children attend daycare/preschool facilities. Granted, it is the parent s responsibility to cautiously select where they decide to take their children. This is because parents know that while they are away for numerous hours of the day, their children are in the hands of another care provider and that their care would have an enormous impact on their children. At a young age, a child s social and cognitive skills are continuing to take shape and the amount of time spent in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While daycare/ childcare centers provide a safe haven for young children and left in the care of licensed caregivers, there is more to daycare then just temporary relief for parents. These facilities offer a nurturing and fun learning environment to promote curiosity, innovation, and continuous growth in developmental abilities and positivity in children, and they also have the ability to provide encouraging and engaging activities that endorse emotional, social, and academic development (Phillips 1987). Within these facilities, high quality care calls for each child reach greater levels of learning and can develop skills at their own pace under supervision. Along with knowing the purpose of quality daycare/child care facilities, the next important factor is to be aware of what generates a high quality daycare/child care facility. It is vital to know the characteristics because these prime objectives are the driving forces influenced by what children need in order to succeed and grow in their developmental skills. Fundamentally, High quality [preschool] education can support early development in ways that yield long term social, cognitive and emotional benefits (Barnett 2005, p1). The most essential aspect of a high quality facility are the trained, certified and attentive teachers hired to support children s developmental needs. They ensure this by respectful interaction,
  • 23. Persuasive Essay On Motor Learning Last year as a 2nd bachelor degree seeking student, I volunteered to participate in a motor learning study about putting golf balls that aimed to replicate previous studies [my basis for my proposal] that revealed learners studying and practicing a motor skill with the expectation of having to teach the skillcould experience enhanced motor learning compared to learners expecting to be tested on the skill. One idea for future research was to conduct a similar study with novice, student pilots who had never received flight instruction to attempt a replication of similar findings in the development of motor learning theory, specifically the development of theory regarding the acquisition phase of learning a new skill (Daou, Lohse, Miller, 2016). What key suggestion for future research did the authors address in their study? The study addressed a shortcoming in the small body of literature indicating that expecting to teach may enhance the learning of declarative knowledge, such as academic information. Previous research had not investigated the effects of expecting to teach on motor learning [such as putting a golf ball], which relies heavily on procedural knowledge. They sought to determine if the participant s [expecting to teach] learning was indirectly enhanced by motivation to spend more time studying and practicing or if the participant s learning was directly [as revealed in a previous study] improved after statistically controlling the quantity of studying and

  • 27. SES Mission Statement Organization and Administration Final Exam: Question 2 According to researchers, the experiences of students in higher education have been examined through a variety of lenses. These include race, ethnicity, gender, and sexual orientation. Low socioeconomic status (SES) students are outside the mainstream and arguably equally disadvantaged in higher education. SES, however, has received little attention in comparison to the aforementioned special interest groups (Walpole, 2003). Scholars who have worked to address this gap in the literature, found low SES and high SES students exhibit different behaviors in college choice, matriculation, persistence, and post secondary enrollment (Walpole, 2003; John and Paulsen, 2002). These variances demonstrate that students with greater financial concerns are more at risk in terms of access to and success in college. In addition, this essay will analyze the mission statement of The University of Texas at Austin (UT Austin) for connections to issues of SES in college access and/or success. ... Aligning of institutional scholarship to inform institutional policy is one example that would better represent the university s mission of advancing society through research, creative activity, and scholarly inquiry. When combined with its pledge to public service, the institution has a greater ability to frame its work and positively impact issues of access and success for low SES

  • 31. Biography of Wyatt Earp Essay Biography of Wyatt Earp Wyatt Earp, born Wyatt Berry Stapp Earp, was born on March 19, 1848 in Manmouth, Illinois to Nicholas and Virginia Earp. When Wyatt was two, his parents moved him across the Mississippi River to Pella, Iowa. He was considered a great western lawman. His first experience as a lawman was as a constable of Lamar, Missouri for four months in the year 1870. In April, 1875, he was appointed to the Wichita Kansas police force only to be released from that job on April 2, 1876 for insubordination. A very historical event occurred soon after Wyatt took the detective job with Wells, Fargo Company; the Gunfight at the O.K. Corral. This event is very controversial even today. According to the name of the event, the shutout occurred in the back entrance of the O.K. Corral. Yet, according to the research that I have done, the shootout actually occurred about half a block over from the O.K. Corral in the side yard of ex mayor William A. Harwood and from there it spread out into the middle of Fremont Street. Of course, the Gunfight at the O.K. Corral sounds much better than the Gunfight in Harwood s Yard and Fremont Street so I guess someone decided to change it. O.K. Corral has much more of a Western ring to it. Personally, I think the Gunfight in Tombstone sounds pretty good, but there s no point trying to change it now. Virgil, Wyatt s older brother, was Tombstone s city marshal at the time of the shootout. He was also a deputy U.S. marshal. At the time of the gunfight, Wyatt considered himself a saloonkeeper, since he had a piece of the gambling winnings at the Oriental Saloon. This event included four of the Old West s best known law enforcers and also some of the Old West s best known villains . The three Earp brothers; Virgil, Wyatt and Morgan all participated in the gunfight with Doc Holliday at their side. John Doc Holliday was a good friend of Wyatt s plus he had a
