Organizational Change Plan
Organizational Change Plan: CrysTel XXXXXXXXXX University of Phoenix Organizational Change
Plan: CrysTel Introduction Change comes at a fast or slow rate it all depends on whom is watching
and what they are looking for, one thing is for sure change will happen. It will happen because we
make it happen or it happens because someone else forces us. Either way we have to be ready to make
the change, we do this by studying and learning, the business, the business environment, the
competitors, and the industry. Watching for the signs that change is in the wind and watching which
way the change is blowing. Change is described as ... something that presses us out of our comfort

Since the marketing department is spread, cross country training is lax along with a lack of job
descriptions. (Building a Culture, 2007) Sales and Delivery: the sales team calls on Customers to
explain the products and to ensure compatibility of products. They also track sales and inventory to
ensure product availability and timely delivery of orders. Senior Staff set job responsibilities and do
not encourage the raising of issues at any other time then during performance reviews. (Building a
Culture, 2007) There are many factors at CrysTel that will be affected by changes; one of the basic
tenets of physics is that for every action there is an opposite and equal reaction. In this case, changes
in one department will ultimately affect the other departments. However, this is also conversely true
when one department is doing a sub par job it will affect in a likely manner. Two surveys were
commissioned, an employee satisfaction survey and a climate survey from these two surveys we were
able to ascertain where some of the problems can occur within the ranks of CrysTel. Using a six factor
parameter, we are able to determine where the strongest and weakest departments lie; the six factors
taken into consideration are leading by example, employee in senior communications, empowering
teams, risk taking, resolving conflicts, and mentoring sessions. When looking at the results the human

Tension And Suspense In Antigone And The Handmaid s Tale
Taboos and forbidden behaviors within novels and pieces of literature help the authors capture the
audience s attention by creating tension and a sense of suspense. Novels and plays both portray the
same ideas through this creation of suspense. Antigone, an ancient Greek play written by Greek
tragedian Sophocles and the famous dystopian novel, The Handmaid s Tale by Margaret Atwood are
both forms of literature that use tension and suspense in this context. Their messages of oppression of
communities captivate and engage the reader into reading further. In both an engaging topic includes
the moral behaviors, ethics and morality in Greece one and a half millennia. In Antigonon the whole
burial issue becomes a big deal and the consequences many different conflicts making audiences feels
suspense and keep them on the edge of their seats. In the Handmaid s Tale a core issue revolves
around strong ethics on use of a sex slave to satisfy the sex drive of an individual, and the expected
role of a handmaid in the time that they lived. Even today sex slavery is a serious issue in the middle
east, Europe and in Africa and often still remain as a taboo subject.
Moral behaviors, including taboos that are even are priority conflict areas in the modern world are
highlighted in Margaret Atwood s created society. For example Gilead behaves in ways to increase
tensions in the stories. Readers are therefore captivated by drawing them in to see the morals and the
ethical values that they hold

Nurse s Role In The Tuskegee Syphilis Trial
Tuskegee Syphilis Trial Introduction
In 1932 the U.S. Public Health Service (USPHS), in conjunction with the Tuskegee Institute, of
Macon County Alabama, initiated a study to record the natural course of untreated syphilis in black
males. According to the Center for Disease Control, the study involved 600 black men, among whom
399 had the disease, and 201 did not, but were used as controls. Participants were under the
impression that they were being treated for bad blood , which was how researchers described their
condition. To the uneducated, impoverished, and vulnerable black men, this appeared to be ideal,
given that their participation earned them, free meals, medical examinations, and burial insurance.
Unfortunately, what they did not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As a nurse, she had an obligation to provide the best medical care for the sick, while minimizing all
potential harms, but her participation in the study gained her the reputation of a nurse who betrayed
her profession. From another point of view, Nurse Rivers has also been as much of a victim as the
participants of the study, due to both gender and race. In a patriarchal society dominated by whites, to
an extent, she was powerless. There would have been dire consequences for a negro, especially a
woman to challenge the doctor with whom she worked. According the Darlene Clark Hines, the doctor
not only worked for the government, but was also a white male, which made him superior by virtue of
race and gender. As a loyal employee, Nurse River always did as she was told, and knew that a nurse
should not question orders given by doctors. Nurse Rivers was described as an upwardly mobile
woman, who had adopted the values and attitudes of middle class culture, which suggests that class
identity shaped her professional life. At the time, it was difficult to find a job, given the great
economic depression in America. Moreover, having lost her job with the Alabama State health
department, Nurse Rivers was more than happy work as a public health nurse. Through hard work, she
achieved her goal of entering the middle class arena and having a job helped her to maintain her
position. It was crucial as a black nurse struggling for a place in a profession dominated by whites, to
cooperate with her superiors. Similarly, by forging relations with her white colleagues, she improved
her status as a black professional working in the world of white medicine. Clearly, hard times,
economic austerity and upward mobility were influential factors, and as stated by James Jones, race,
professional hierarchies, class, and gender all played distinct and

Bacchus And The Pieta By Michelangelo
Because of his genius, the work of art was chosen as the symbol of the Republic of Florence. It was
carved in a huge block of marble that remained abandoned for more than forty years after suffering
damage just in its basis in a previous attempt (Michelangelo took advantage of that just creating an
empty espace between Davi s feet). Several artists had fought for the honor of doing that, including
Leonardo da Vinci and Andrea Sansovino. Michelangelo was responsible for the task due to its already
established reputation for brilliant sculptor because of his Bacchus and the Pieta. Michelangelo got
one of the most beautiful representations of the human body in the history of art. The sculpture
represents a colossal teenager, 16.9 feet in height.

Bone Physiology Essay
1. Bone physiology
There are two types of bone tissue: cancellous bone and cortical bone, whereas there are four main
types of bone cells (Table 1). Bones serve multiple functions; mainly protecting various organs within
the body and assisting mobility. Due to their rigidity, they support and maintain the shape of the body.
Also, bones are essential in hematopoiesis and for physiological processes. Their calcium and
phosphate containing crystals regulate mineral homeostasis and metabolic processes (Webb and
Tricker, 2000).

Application of micro particles
Micro particle systems have been exploited in the pharmaceutical industry for the development of
novel drug delivery systems. Sustained release of therapeutic protein drugs have been considered and
discussed for more than a decade. They can be designed as biodegradable (Lee and Shin, 2007) to
avoid minimal invasive surgical procedures and have been used in the delivery of growth factors to the
bone. Micro particles consist of a polymer and cross linker. The advantages of using an alginate
polymer to formulate micro particles are: they can be sterilised without altering their molecular
weight; they have hemostatic properties causing controlled release of the encapsulated drug and are
cost effective (Iannuccellia et al., 1996). They can encapsulate proteins and control their release. Also,
they are biodegradable systems which are mechanically stable and easy to control; biocompatible and
can have variable residence times (Lee and Shin,

Financial Ratios Of Pepsico Inc Essay
The calculation of ratios is the calculation technique for analyzing a company s financial performance
that divides or standardize one accounting measure by another economically relevant measure.
Financial ratios can be used as a tool to demonstrate financial statement users for making valid
comparisons of firm operating performance, over time for the same firm and between comparable
companies. External investors are mostly interested in gaining insights about a firm s profitability,
asset management, liquidity, and solvency. Table 1, below, will show financial ratios of PepsiCo Inc.
The table consists of 5 major elements. Profitability refers to how much income was generated by
PepsiCo Inc. Then, asset management refers to how effectively the invested assets were used in the
business by PepsiCo s management team. Liquidity and solvency are the related conception of
analyzing financial risk. Liquidity refers to the ability of PepsiCo Inc. to generate cash and is often
considered a good indication of the company s ability to pay its short term obligations; while,
solvency generally refers to the ability of company to repay its outstanding long term obligation.
Lastly, ROE Model Framework is the return on equity and reveals that a firm s ROE can be
decomposed into the three component ratios of return on sales, asset turnover, and financial leverage
which will be used for sustainable growth rate later. Google s financial ratios are showed in table 2.

Othello’s Themeland
Othello s Themeland
Built on a broad base of multiple themes, Othello is one of William Shakespeare s most popular
tragedies. Let s sift through the themes and try to rank them in significance.
In the Introduction to The Folger Library General Reader s Shakespeare, Louis B. Wright and Virginia
A. LaMar consider the arch villainy of the ancient to be the most potent theme:
Othello has been described as Shakespeare s most perfect play. Critics of dramatic structure have
praised it for its attention to the main theme without irrelevant distractions. Many Elizabethan plays
had rambling subplots and much extraneous detail to amuse the groundlings. Othello avoids all
irrelevancies and the action moves swiftly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Heilman discusses the ancient s instinctive reaction to the love theme of the play:
Before coming directly to the forming of the love theme that differentiates Othello from other
Shakespeare plays that utilize the same theme, I turn arbitrarily to Iago to inspect a distinguishing
mark of his of which the relevance to thematic form in the play will appear a little later. When Iago
with unperceived scoffing reminds Roderigo, who is drawn with merciless attraction to the
unreachable Desdemona, that love effects an unwonted nobility in men, he states a doctrine which he
knows is true but in which he may not believe. Ennoblement by love is a real possibility in men, but
Iago has to view it with bitterness and to try to undermine it. (333 34)
The theme of hate is the theme on which the play opens. Lily B. Campbell in Shakespeare s Tragic
Heroes indicates this hate in the opening scene:
It is then on a theme of hate that the play opens. It is a hate of inveterate anger. It is a hate that is
bound up with envy. Othello has preferred to be his lieutenant a military theorist, one Michael Cassio,
over the experienced soldier Iago, to whom has fallen instead the post of his Moorship s ancient .
Roderigo questions Iago:
Thou told st me thou didst hold him in thy hate.
And the reply is a torrent of proof of the hatred for Othello that has almost exceeded the envy of

Colorimetric Assay Lab Report
Creatinine is a waste product filtered by the kidneys into the blood (serum) and urine. High serum,
and/or urine creatinine levels are indicative of kidney dysfunction. A colorimetric assay can be used to
determine the creatinine concentration in the urine and serum samples from patients who are
suspected to have kidney dysfunction.
In the creatinine colorimetric assay the absorbance of the yellow creatinine picric complex, which is
formed from the reaction between creatinine and picric acid, is read spectrophotometrically. Using
spectrophotometric data one can determine the relationship between creatinine concentration and
absorbance by fitting an equation to the creatinine and absorbance data. The equation sets a standard
which can be used to determine the concentration of creatinine in solutions, such as blood and urine,
which contain creatinine.
The colorimetric assay is useful in so far as finding the concentration of creatinine. However, a
diagnosis of kidney dysfunction requires the creatinine concentration in both serum and urine to be
analysed. This is because serum and urine creatinine concentration can vary as function of the patient
s gender, age, size (i.e., body obesity, muscle mass, or malnutrition). This can lead to creatinine
concentration appearing normal when there is an underlying kidney dysfunction, or ... Show more

Descriptive Essay On Six Flags
I was bouncing up and down in my car seat my seat belt trying to keep a hold of me. I was so excited
to finally get to go to six flags. As we pulled up to get into the parking lot, they wind rushed through
my hair, I stuck my head out the window to get a better view of six flags. The rides going back in forth
and the people eagerly waiting in line to get in. we pulled up to a parking. The car came to a stopped,
everyone jolted forward and then back in their seats. I opened the door stepping out and letting the rest
of the people come out. The door slammed behind me and echoed through the parking lot. We made
our way getting closer and closer to the amusement park, my older cousins were walking behind me
and the young ones who were running across the street playing, my uncle screamed at them to not play
in the street.
We had finally arrived at the front of the amusement park. We all waited anxiously to get our tickets.
Finally we had reached the front of the line and we entered the park we walked past all of the stores.
We all rushed to get in line but were stopped by my uncle, who said we must have lunch before we did
anything else. So I gobbled down my food, that greased my hands and filled the plate with ketchup.
Afterwards, when everyone was done with their food, we got up but was stopped again and was
warned by our uncle to wait for our food to settle. But my ignorant self just kept running into the line.
My stomach had butterflies flying left and right. After all of

The Issue Of Elderly Abuse
Every year an estimated 5 million older Americans are victims of elder abuse, neglect, or exploitation.
And that s only part of the picture: Experts believe that for every case of elder abuse or neglect
reported, as many as 23 cases go unreported ( World Elder Abuse Awareness Day ). The issue of
elderly abuse is a growing topic in our country because it violates three specific articles in the
Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Elderly abuse and neglect is an increasing age discrimination
issue in the United States and violates the human rights to an adequate standard of living, equal
protection under the law, and the right to be free from degrading treatment. The often neglectful and

The caregivers of the victims may not feel that the elderly diagnosed with any type of dementia can
effectively communicate their abuse to family or loved ones, making it easier to manipulate them.
This is violating the right to an adequate standard of living because these people were being drugged
in the nursing home which they considered home. The residents no longer felt safe in their living
space and this is taking away the human right established in Article 25 of the Universal Declaration of
Human Rights. In a study by the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences, Dr. Harruff evaluated this
correlation, In an elderly individual, invariably there s a combination of processes if there s neglect,
there s usually disease and neglect, he said. For patients in nursing homes, sores can mean that staffers
aren t turning or moving them enough, a serious violation of accepted standards of health care. Federal
data show that more than 7 percent of long term nursing home residents have pressure ulcers (Lee and
Thompson). If the elderly were able to defend themselves and express this abuse to others effectively,
caregivers would not treat them this way because they know that they are inadequately providing care
and this is illegal. The Alzheimer s Association also recognizes that dementia can affect
communication, People with dementia are especially vulnerable because the disease

My Native Costume By Gentileschi
Once, there was a woman who claimed that her identity is like the spirit of Caesar. She was raped
when she was nineteen, and public condemned her of losing her virtue, even though virtue is not a
woman s consumable good that can be achieved by purity or lost by accident. This reaction is similar
to that of school teacher in the poem of Martín Espada, My Native Costume. In the poem, the teacher
asks the writer to wear traditional costume for the students even though the writer defines himself as a
lawyer. She is full of prejudice that Puerto Rican people will always wear traditional clothes, but she
rather thinks that she is doing a good job for her students while saying the children want to see a
native costume (Espada). Probably the public ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Judith Slaying Holofernes is one of her masterpieces that has been acknowledged as a proper piece to
understand the main characteristics of her painting style. Carol Strickland, an American art historian,
explains that this painting shows how Gentileschi depicted her subject into the style of Caravaggio,
who was her father s teacher and famous for dramatic lightning (Strickland, 47). Based on these facts,
some critics conjecture that Gentileschi may just have borrowed the dramatic story from the Book of
Judith to express her technique that resembled that of Caravaggio. They argue that it is unreasonable
and too subjective to relate Judith Slaying Holofernes with the identity of Gentileschi. Identity of
Gentileschi, however, cannot be separated with the story of Judith and the painting Judith Slaying
Holofernes because Gentileschi s identity severely resembles that of Judith. Their struggle, success
leaded by their capacity, and destruction of the gender stereotypes are main common aspects that
Judith and Gentileschi share. These qualities further prove how Artemisia Gentileschi was an ideal
feminist who asserted her freedom inside an unfair

The Parallels Of Japanese Internees And American Pows
The Parallels of Japanese Internees and American POWs War can be loud and visible or quiet and
remote. It affects the individual and entire societies, the soldier, and the civilian. Both U.S. prisoners
of war in Japan and Japanese American citizens in the United States during WWII undergo efforts to
make them invisible. Laura Hillenbrand s Unbroken hero, Louie Zamperini, like so many other
POWs, is imprisoned, beaten, and denied basic human rights in POW camps throughout Japan. Miné
Okubo, a U.S. citizen by birth, is removed from society and interned in a protective custody camp for
Japanese American citizens. She is one of the many Japanese Americans who were interned for the
duration of the war. Louie Zamperini, as a POW in Japan, and Miné Okubo, as a Japanese American
Internee both experience efforts to make them invisible through dehumanization and isolation in the
camps of WWII, and both resist these efforts. From a very early age, Louie Zamperini was a visible
young man. His charismatic/rebellious ways, and his athletic accomplishments continually put him in
the spotlight, but years in Japanese POWs camps slowly eroded his visibility. He, like so many others
in captivity, experienced efforts to make him invisible. During WWII, POWs were systematically
stripped of their dignity in the camps of Japan, and as Hillenbrand writes, without dignity, identity is
erased (189). Dehumanizing tactics by Japanese guards deny prisoners of their dignity and humanity.

We recently watched the film Paris is Burning, a documentary about black drag queens in Harlem and
their culture surrounding balls. Directly related we also read two feminist critiques, Gender is

audience and drag queens and how they participate to reinforce a heterosexual racist patriarchy.

simultaneously dismissing any agency or valid desire of the stars themselves. Not only does
Livingston provide them this particular opportunity to reach a larger audience, but they very
conscientiously want and take it. The audience may exploit the stars by viewing the film with a
dominant or condescending curiosity but the black drag queens featured choose to be documented.
Is every interaction involving pleasure, creation, observation or any other form of existence between

this is also an uninteresting approach to take and does not allow for appreciation of the insight,

creation itself.

Strengths And Weaknesses Of Feedback In Education
My job as an educator is to meet the needs of the students in my class. The chapters I read reminded
me of the importance of differentiating for the wide variety of needs in my classroom. It is essential
that I differentiate the content, process, and product on a regular basis. Sometimes I overthink
differentiated instruction, making it too complicated in my head. Carol Ann Tomlinson (2001)
specifically reminded me that differentiation can be successfully accomplished by all teachers through
both low preparation methods and high preparation methods. When a classroom s instruction is
differentiated, teachers sometimes have questions about how grading may be different than a
traditional classroom. Because of reading the above mentioned literature, I now have a greater
awareness of formative assessments, rubrics, and building mutual understandings of grading practices
among teachers. Formative assessment is meant to be used regularly to provide students with feedback
about how they can continue to improve and grow as a learner and to inform a teacher s next step
instructionally. The most valuable idea I took away from the literature was the importance of timely
and actionable feedback. First, students need to receive feedback about their learning throughout the
learning process, soon after the work or assignment has been turned in, so that ... Show more content

Procedural Rhetoric
Procedural Rhetoric and Video Games

5th June 2018
When one is playing a video game, they are never focused on the composition of the game but on the
content. Procedural rhetoric concept explains how people learn through the composition of rules and
processes. It argues that games can be used to make a strong claim on how the world works. This is
not done through the conventional means of words or visuals but through some processes and models.
It further argues that video games have a unique persuasive power that goes beyond other forms of
computational persuasion. Not only can video games support existing social and cultural positions, but
they can also disrupt and change those positions, leading to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Additionally, the growing culture of societal impatience is like an addiction, it makes people crave
more and more, and they want it now and right now. Ian Bogost article The Rhetoric of video games
describes a situation where players unknowingly face the dilemma of wanting more and more. The
argument is that for instance, if someone wants a bigger house, meaning an increase in mortgage, it
has to be complemented by buying more other goods to fill the extra space hence a vicious cycle
(Bogost, 2008). The same analogy is used by business models of freemium games to complement
procedural rhetoric to foster an impatient society. Freemium models business offers certain aspects of
the games free, while other parts have to be paid for. When a player engages in a freemium game, it
will reach a point that the player cannot move to the next process before purchasing the whole game.
Additionally, the players would use every other means necessary to achieve their goals. Some of these
means are not right and thus would bring along rhetorical

The Ramayana Is Not Just A Story
The Ramayana is a Sanskrit epic poem ascribed to the Hindu sage and Sanskrit poet Valmiki. The
Ramayana also plays an important role in Hindu literature . It depicts the duties of relationships,
portraying ideal characters like the ideal father, the ideal servant, the ideal brother, the ideal wife, and
the ideal king. The name Ramayana is a tatpurusha compound of and , translating to Rama s Journey .
The Ramayana consists of 24,000 verses in seven books and 500 cantos, and tells the story of Rama,
whose wife Sita is abducted by Ravana, the king of Lanka . Incidentally the first letter of every 1000
verses make the Gayatri mantra. Thematically, the Ramayana explores human values and the concept
of dharma.
Verses in the Ramayana are written in a 32 syllable meter called . The Ramayana was an important
influence on later Sanskrit poetry and Hindu life and culture. Like the Mahabharata, the Ramayana is
not just a story: it presents the teachings of ancient Hindu sages in narrative allegory, interspersing
philosophical and devotional elements. The characters Rama, Sita, Lakshman, Bharata, Hanuman, and
Ravana are all fundamental to the cultural consciousness of India, Nepal, and many south east Asian
countries such as Thailand and Indonesia.
There are other versions of the Ramayana in Indian languages, besides Buddhist and Jain adaptations;
and also Cambodian, Indonesian, Filipino, Thai, Lao, Burmese, and Malaysian versions of the tale.

Truth Manipulation In Maus
I solemnly swear to tell the truth and nothing but the truth. But what is truth? No possible way exists
for there to be a completely unfiltered recollection of the past. Whether consciously or not, events can
be warped and distorted into stories with exaggerated details, fragmented incidents, and whatever
specifics keep the self image we feel the need to maintain. All of these elements are seen throughout
Maus, with both Art, the author, and Vladek Spiegelman exemplifying complications of truth. The
subtle and not so subtle instances of truth manipulation can consistently be seen throughout the books,
which cause the questioning of what can be considered reality in all literature. Whether consciously or
not, truth is manipulated in literature, since perfect memories cannot be recalled, as seen in Maus.
Maus displays numerous events where the line between reality and falsified details become blurred, a
problem that is seen repeatedly in our own lives. Spiegelman, like all authors has the power to control

The Spatial Distribution Of Temperature Essay
The spatial distribution of temperature, pH , salinity , Dissolved Oxygen (D.O) , Biological Oxygen
Demand (BOD), micronutrients (phosphate , nitrate and silicate ) and chlorophyll pigments were
pronounced as shown in fig : 3 .The surface water temperature were homogenous within the studied
area ,varying within the range 25 32° C . Generally, the temperature is influenced by the freshwater
influx intensity of solar radiation, and cooling and mix up with ebb , evaporation and flow from
adjoining neritic waters (Prabu et al. 2008). The estuarine water was slightly alkaline in nature
throughout the study period in all the respective stations with pH value ranging from 7.7 to 8.33. The
pH value was within the safe limit for drinking purpose (WHO, 1973) as well as for crop production
(FAO, 1975).This pH range was the combine effects of the tides of the Bay of Bengal and fairly high
buffering capacity of the water (Huang et.al;2008). The neutral sub alkaline environment at this pH
substantially limits the mobility of trace metals in marine water (Manta et al., 2002). The maximum
salinity (14.5 p.s.u) at Sagar (S8) and the minimum (0.17 p.s.u.) at Babughat (S3) were recorded
which is attributed to higher rate of evaporation than that of precipitation and the neritic water
dominance (Rajasekar; 2003). The turbidity showed a wide range of variation (1 13 NTU) being
lowest at Tribeni (S1) which is the fresh water zone and highest at Lot 8 (S7), near the coastal water.

Esterification Of 3-Methylbutyl Ethanoate Lab Report
Esterification of 3 MethylButyl Ethanoate Results Distillation range: 97 102°C Ester has a fruity odor,
smells very much like banana. Discussion Results table: Observations Process Observations Reflux
When adding 3 methyl 1 butanol, sulphuric acid and ethanoic acid heat were produced by the
colourless mixture, which pertained a smell of sulphuric acid. Once heating began, the solution
quickly changed to orange and continued to rapidly change to a darker colour. After approximately six
minutes, it began to bubble and the colour was now a dark red colour, very similar to the shade of a
cherry. At this point, the liquid began to vaporise, rising up to the condenser about a third way before
it was condensed to a liquid which ran back down the condenser to the pear shaped flask. The strong
smell of the sulphuric smell began to fade, the smell it was replaced with still smelt strong and bad but
to a less extent. The mixture remained a dark red colour for the remaining duration of the reflux
process, continually bubbling. Separation/Purification The initial substance was a dark red colour,
similar to the colour of a cherry. When added to approximately 20mL of water, the mixture changed to
a yellow colour, forming an insoluble layer. The bottom layer, which was soluble was predominately
clear but pertained the original colour of the mixture at the bottom. There was a clear distinction
between the two layers. When the Sodium Carbonate was added to the organic mixture, it appeared

Rape And Sexual Assault In Game Of Thrones
The use of rape and sexual assault as a dramatic plot device in contemporary film and television can
turn out to be either highly successful or highly problematic for those involved and their viewers.
In many television shows of the 2010 s, most notably American Horror Story, these unspeakable acts
seem to employed as a form of light entertainment. A plot device, if you will. With seemingly no
direct link to the story being told or effect on what follows after. Similarly, Game of Thrones has
suffered mass criticism since it s premier back in 2011. However, the writers of GOT still vehemently
defend their choice of representation of rape and sexual assault crimes, stating that it is, and was, a
part of everyday life back in medieval times.
Comparing these small screen representations to those on the silver screen, it could be surmised that
rape and sexual assault in film is a more thought out process. Television writers are expected to turn
out numerous storylines throughout series and never seem to dwell on the one plotline for too long.
This very well may be why its representations of rape and sexual assault are so heavily criticised, as

example the rape of Lana in American Horror Story: Asylum, although dealt with delicately and is

Another reason for late entrance was a low rate of internet penetration. Despite of a huge population,

Discussing The First World War
When discussing the First World War, there are a myriad of topics, theories and debates that can be
brought up, especially when its regarding to its breakout and and what lead to it. There are multiple
direct and indirect causes that all are interconnected with one another, making it very difficult to just
discuss about one topic without it overlapping with another completely different topic. One of the
most unquestionable causes that lead to the outbreak of the war was the alliance system that was
active in the early twentieth century and that was however set into motion well before in the mid
nineteenth century. The alliance system can be viewed as major causes from two main different
perspectives; it can be considered as a immediate cause or as a indirect background cause. However,
the existence of the alliances is crucial to the bringing about of the first world war from both
perspectives The existence of the multiple alliances and treaties is considered as a major immediate
and direct cause to the bringing about of the First World War because it turned a conflict between two
countries that could ve been easily contained into a full scale world war that involved multiple
countries. To fully understand how and why this series of chain events were set into motion, one must
know and comprehend all the past alliances, treaties and accords that were created in the past and that
in time would bring to the two major European alliances, the Triple Entente and the Triple

A Short Note On Oxidation Lagoon Treatment System Essay
3.1 REPSA I Inspection Findings
On July 7, 2015 the EPA and MARN inspected the REPSA I facility, including the oxidation lagoon
treatment system. This wastewater treatment system treats the wastewater generated from REPSA I
palm tree oil processing. The system consists of five oxidation lagoons, which included cooling
stabilization lagoons, anaerobic (an anaerobic lagoon is a deep impoundment, essentially free of
dissolved oxygen that promotes anaerobic conditions (USEPA 2002)), and facultative lagoons, with
each lagoon having a volume of approximately 3,500 m3 (925,000 gallons). A facultative lagoon is
earthen impoundment that the layer of water near the surface contains dissolved oxygen due to
atmospheric reaeration and algal respiration, a condition that supports aerobic and facultative
organisms, and the bottom layer of the lagoon includes sludge deposits and supports anaerobic
organisms (USEPA, 2002). EPA observed that all lagoons were not sealed (no concrete, liner, clay,
etc.), which may create suitable conditions for groundwater contamination.
During the EPA visit, it was observed that the REPSA I lagoons were almost full to capacity, with a
free board of approximately one foot (0.3 meters) (See photo 1, page 17). Typically, lagoons should
have a minimum freeboard of 0.9 meters (3 feet) (USEPA, 2002). The minimum freeboard design
criteria is recommended in an effort to avoid or minimize overflow during rain events of significant
magnitude. In addition, EPA and

Career Path For Certified Tumor Registrars
With a great passion for healthcare and helping others, I started my healthcare career by enrolling in
the Paramedic Certification Program through Johnston Community College after I graduated high

Organizational Data And Management System Essay
Abstract
Organizational data is increasingly prevalent due to the ease of collecting data from several sources.
Because so much data is now available and gathered, organizations must set a data management
system to clean then consolidate the data to give users clear insight into the organization s behavior.
To implement such a system requires the collaboration of both the business manager and the business
s IT organization. The IT organization must have a clear understanding of the data standards and data
model that the manager requests to correctly implement it. Furthermore, the IT organization must
determine how the system should be designed to match the data needs of the organization. Alongside
the IT team, the business manager must address several issues concerning the system, including how
the data should be organized, collected, and distributed. The business manager is also responsible for
ensuring the quality of the data gathered and how to address any technical issues that arise, as well as
oversee the support for any transitions to updated software, so that data is not lost. Keywords: data

Methicillin-Resistant Mythoiccus Aureus (MRSA)
Antibiotic resistance which can be defined as the ability of bacteria and other microorganisms to resist
the effects of an antibiotic to which they were once sensitive.8 Antibiotic resistance mainly results
from misuse of antibiotics which can be categorized as intensive and extended use of antibiotics in
human and veterinary treatments where antibiotics were not required and improper disposal of
antibiotics in both hospital environment and community which in turn results an environmental impact
too.
Among the resistant bacterial strains Methicillin resistant Staphylococcus Aureus (MRSA) is the
major resistant pathological strain which is resistant to almost all antibiotics available in the world in

Intrinsic resistance is achieved by spontaneous gene mutation through replication where acquired
resistance results as an adaptation technique when bacteria in contact with antibiotic. Pathogenic
bacteria can gain resistance through several mechanisms such as acquire modification of active site of
the bacteria in turn results in reduction in the efficacy of binding of the drug, direct modification or
destruction of antibiotic by enzymes produced by bacteria or efflux of antibiotic from the bacterial cell
through efflux pumps. Bacterial species accomplish spreading the resistance through horizontal gene
transfer mechanisms such as transformation, transduction and conjugation via plasmids.
Antibiotic resistance has evolved as a result of the interactions between bacteria and antibiotic after an
antibiotic exposure. Bacterial species are capable of adapting to new antibiotic as simply as they adapt
to new environments due to their amazing genomic plasticity. This in turn results antibiotic resistance
to be very dynamic and unpredictable. Every year, almost 100,000 Americans die from antibiotic
resistant infections acquired from hospitals, largely because of the reduced effectiveness of existing
drugs, due to the development and propagation of drug resistance

The Twilight Zone By Rod Serling

Why The University Of Iowa Essay
Over the past few weeks, I ve had the chance to talk with individual faculty, students, staff, and others
about what drew me to the University of Iowa, my approach to the role of president, and the need to
work together. I d like to take this opportunity to start a broader conversation.
Why the University of Iowa?
I ve been asked this question by both supporters and detractors in recent weeks. If you belong to the
University of Iowa community, you ve probably asked yourself, or been asked, this same question.
Let me offer my answer. You may find that I came to the University of Iowa for much the same reason
you did.
I am a graduate of a public research institution, and I believe these institutions are the foundation of
our future. Through their mission of teaching, research, and service, they promise to make our
individual and collective lives better.
The University of Iowa addresses these missions with a balanced commitment to the sciences, arts,
and humanities; a culture that sincerely wants every student to succeed; and a deep sense of obligation
to the people of its state. It s a unique place with an essential purpose.
This is why I was interested.
We need to remember why so many of us have chosen Iowa as a place to study, work, and live. We are
creative and collaborative, inspired by this place and its history. We re pragmatic but not afraid to
think big. We value hard work, we speak forthrightly, and we honor our promises. That s why we are

Deception In Greek
The Royal House of Athens is broken down into five distinct and unique myths all surrounding a
single mythological family in the city of Athens. Throughout the different myths, parallels of jealousy,
regret, and deception can be drawn from each of the separate pieces. Jealousy and/or lust is usually the
main cause of the tragedy, with one character falling in love or pursuing another and the other not
accepting it. In an effort to get revenge, deception is often used to fool another character into doing
something or believing something in order to benefit the other character. Following deception is
regret, and the myth typically ends on a distressed note. In this collection of myths, each of these
themes plays a major role in the tragedy of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

(2013, 83). While creative work and symbolic creation may be glamorous for some, Hesmondhalgh
reminds us that a greater percentage of individuals wanting to work professionally in the cultural
industries have failed in comparison to those who have succeeded (2013, 83). That being said, prior to
embarking on a career in the lucrative cultural industries, it is important to research the conditions
shaping work in the complex professional era. This essay will analyze the positive and negative
aspects of working as a digital journalist to demonstrate how workplace flexibility, stress, precarious
labor, limited creativity autonomy, and future job insecurity are defining factors of work for
journalists. As ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Of primary importance to me is that a job s outputs are directly involved with influencing social
change. Moreover, as someone who is critical of the meaning and importance of capitalist work, I
believe that for a job to be considered good , its goal must not be monetary, but rather philanthropic.
Additionally, I require a job where my personality and creativity can flourish. Having the ability to
produce unique work and not be constrained by rigid guidelines is very important to me. In regards to
salary, I value a stable pay and thus an income that is not in flux or contingent on the work I produce,
current economy, or company s success. I also believe that good work is employment with an
adequate work life balance whereby when you leave the office, there is no pressure to continue
working. As such, a philanthropic job that allows for creativity, minimum stress, and stability are
important aspects to me when considering a future career

Cannabis Has Been Proven to Have Therapeutic Benefits
Marijuana has been successfully used in pain management due to its analgesic and anti nausea
properties. Due to this reason, medical practitioners have in the past prescribed it to terminally ill
cancer or AIDS patients and muscle spasms victims. Currently, 15 states have legalized marijuana for
medical use making it easily available too not only terminally ill but others who report chronic pain or
severe nausea . This trend is likely to give rise to substance abuse with socioeconomic impact on the
society.
What is Cannabis? Cannabis occurs naturally as dried flowering of cannabis sativa plant.[1]
Commonly known as marijuana, It is either consumed by smoking or as an infused edible form.
Cannabinoids are the active compounds extracted from cannabis. Currently, marijuana may be
obtained at registered pharmacies over the counter in many states only on the recommendation of
physician. As it is not classified as medicine, prescription cannot be dispensed in measurable quantity.
Not only is it available in raw form but is also sold as a constituent of other edible products such as
muffins, lemon bars, lollipops and gummy bears! This availability of the product in such infused
forms gives the users a false sense of harmlessness associated with its use. The two proven indications
for the use of the synthetic cannabinoid (dronabinol) are chemotherapy induced nausea and vomiting
and AIDS related anorexia. Other possible effects that may prove beneficial in the oncology include

Japanese Picture Brides
The Japanese picture brides American born children who rejected their mothers culture and language
remind me of myself and my own failed efforts to suppress my cultural identity at Marin Academy as
a way to fit in with my peers, invoking a great feeling of empathy within me because I understand
what it is like to want to feel included within a greater community. Julie Otsuka reveals the stark
change that begins to occur in the mother s children when she writes, They preferred their own
company to ours and pretended not to understand a word that we said... They insisted on eating bacon
and eggs every morning for breakfast instead of bean paste soup (74 75). By pretend[ing] not to
understand what their mothers are saying, the children are breaking the only form of communication

At school, I would find a quiet, empty space to talk to my parents instead of doing so out in the open. I
knew that unlike most of my peers, English is not the primary language spoken at my home, and I
thought I would be criticized for that. Furthermore, the children s choice to eat a more traditional
American breakfast plate can also be seen as a simple act of moving away from their own culture,
adopting a food that less visibly alienates them from the group of classmates they want to feel similar
to. Specifically, the phrase instead of implies that the children have broken a previous routine of eating
bean paste soup, a custom that was clearly established within the family because the mothers expected
them to continue to eat the Japanese dish. Like these children, I have also seen how the food I eat is a
way that makes me noticeably different from my peers. Getting weird glances from some of my peers
for the homemade foods I brought to school Freshman year, I quickly opted for school cafeteria food
instead of Chile Rellenos and Albondigas because it was what everyone else was

Moveable Feast Hemingway
Ernest Hemingway is one of the greatest American 20th century novelists. Born in a Chicago suburb,
he emerged as a writer quite early, starting his career immediately after high school. He served in
World War I as an ambulance driver. After the war, wounded, Hemingway returned to the U.S. for a
short time before settling in Paris with his first wife, Hadley Richardson. In his memoir A Moveable
Feast, he describes his years in Paris as a young writer, his relationship with his wife and their infant
son, as well as his circle of friends and acquaintances. However, it all seems but a background setting
for his work. Throughout A Moveable Feast, Ernest Hemingway proves to be a dedicated writer.
As a young writer, Hemingway worked hard on improving ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Everything else he did was but means so he could be more productive. His wife, his friends and
acquaintances, his hobbies were just a distraction, something he had to do. In the chapter Une
Génération Perdue , Hemingway emphasizes that his particular writing process required times of rest,
lest his well of... writing dries up. The only time that he was not working was when he could not work,
for he had to stop when there was still something there in the deep part of the well. Eating, drinking,
reading, and even having sex with his wife were only something necessary to him after he had written
(12).
For any talented writer, writing opens up a new world, a new reality to live in. Hemingway was not an
exception: For him, writing was indeed an escape from objective reality. The way he describes his
writing process in the chapter A Good Café on the Place St. Michel suggests how deep he would
wander far into the story and get lost in it. When he was writing, the whole world around him would
fade from existence; he did not look up nor know anything about the time (5). Hemingway s ability to
be so submerged in work emphasizes the role writing played in his

‘Countries at Very Low Levels of Economic Development Face...
Countries at very low levels of economic development face such a huge challenge that they cannot
hope to address them without the assistance from the rest of the world To what extent do you agree
with this view? [40]
In this essay I shall try and explore if countries of low levels of economic development; LICs, can
only develop if they receive aid from already developed countries; HICs. I shall be weighing up both
the benefits of aid and it downfalls, as well as the possibilities presented through trade alone. Is it
easier for an LIC to develop through aid or by letting itself trade its way forward?
With two thirds of the world being made up by LICs, economic growth, the increase in output of
goods and services that a country produces ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
LICs fail to act upon the aid in order to develop but instead many see it as a way to keep afloat. Why
put the time, resources and effort into developing when you will always be bailed out by these HICs.
Another problem associated with aid is the idea that an LIC can receive too much of it. As free aid
such as food and clothing comes in, LICs citizens, instead of purchasing these commodities, simply
pick them up for free. This dumping of goods leads to unemployment as markets are forced to close
down due to the option of getting their produce for free instead.
With failures such as these it s clear to see why many opted instead to trade with LICs in order to
cause some sort of knock on effect. LICs are often provided with trade rather then aid due to
modernization. Essentially this consists of two key elements, the first being an increase in
international trade and the second being a process of intensive industrialization to help provide goods
for export. In effect, the developing countries were being encouraged to use the same kind of model
that Western HICs had used to develop many decades ago. These modern socialist ideas of trade and
economic growth took hold and became known as neoliberalism. This concept consisted of the idea
that free trade is essential for economic growth, so markets should be as open as possible. This
economic

Essay On Exotic Animals
People Shouldn t Be Able To Have Exotic Animals
There are many exotic animals all over the world that live in the wild. There are many species and
some are extinct. Exotic animals are very expensive that require more than what people realize. These
animals belong in their natural habitats. It is wrong and cruel for the animals that have to live in
captivity when they are meant to live in the wild. Taking exotic animals out of the wild disrupts the
natural food chain and negatively affects natural selection. Exotic animals belong in the wild because
the reason they are exotic is because they cannot be tamed like any other pet, and if they can t be
tamed, they can become a harm to the owner and to others that the animal feel threatened by. Injury
and possibly death is likely to happen under such circumstances of the animals being neglected.
Another reason why I believe that exotic animals do not belong under human captivity as pets is
because it is harmful to the pets and the nature of them. Some animals need their families to survive
and they also need to learn to hunt in order for them to survive. Once an exotic animal becomes the
pet of someone, it becomes dependent which is unhealthy for the animal, especially if they are brought
under captivity at such an early age. Owning exotic animals as keeping them as pets should be illegal
is what I believe is right. Exotic animals kept as house pets are a hazard to the pet owners and any
other people around the

Senior Staff set job responsibilities and do not encourage the raising of issues at any other time then during performance reviews. (Building a Culture, 2007) There are many factors at CrysTel that will be affected by changes; one of the basic tenets of physics is that for every action there is an opposite and equal reaction. In this case, changes in one department will ultimately affect the other departments. However, this is also conversely true when one department is doing a sub par job it will affect in a likely manner. Two surveys were commissioned, an employee satisfaction survey and a climate survey from these two surveys we were able to ascertain where some of the problems can occur within the ranks of CrysTel. Using a six factor parameter, we are able to determine where the strongest and weakest departments lie; the six factors taken into consideration are leading by example, employee in senior communications, empowering teams, risk taking, resolving conflicts, and mentoring sessions. • 3. Tension And Suspense In Antigone And The Handmaid s Tale Taboos and forbidden behaviors within novels and pieces of literature help the authors capture the audience s attention by creating tension and a sense of suspense. Novels and plays both portray the same ideas through this creation of suspense. Antigone, an ancient Greek play written by Greek tragedian Sophocles and the famous dystopian novel, The Handmaid s Tale by Margaret Atwood are both forms of literature that use tension and suspense in this context. Their messages of oppression of communities captivate and engage the reader into reading further. In both an engaging topic includes the moral behaviors, ethics and morality in Greece one and a half millennia. In Antigonon the whole burial issue becomes a big deal and the consequences many different conflicts making audiences feels suspense and keep them on the edge of their seats. In the Handmaid s Tale a core issue revolves around strong ethics on use of a sex slave to satisfy the sex drive of an individual, and the expected role of a handmaid in the time that they lived. Even today sex slavery is a serious issue in the middle east, Europe and in Africa and often still remain as a taboo subject. Moral behaviors, including taboos that are even are priority conflict areas in the modern world are highlighted in Margaret Atwood s created society. For example Gilead behaves in ways to increase tensions in the stories. Readers are therefore captivated by drawing them in to see the morals and the ethical values that they hold ... Nurse s Role In The Tuskegee Syphilis Trial Tuskegee Syphilis Trial Introduction In 1932 the U.S. Public Health Service (USPHS), in conjunction with the Tuskegee Institute, of Macon County Alabama, initiated a study to record the natural course of untreated syphilis in black males. According to the Center for Disease Control, the study involved 600 black men, among whom 399 had the disease, and 201 did not, but were used as controls. Participants were under the impression that they were being treated for bad blood , which was how researchers described their condition. To the uneducated, impoverished, and vulnerable black men, this appeared to be ideal, given that their participation earned them, free meals, medical examinations, and burial insurance. As a nurse, she had an obligation to provide the best medical care for the sick, while minimizing all potential harms, but her participation in the study gained her the reputation of a nurse who betrayed her profession. From another point of view, Nurse Rivers has also been as much of a victim as the participants of the study, due to both gender and race. In a patriarchal society dominated by whites, to an extent, she was powerless. There would have been dire consequences for a negro, especially a woman to challenge the doctor with whom she worked. According the Darlene Clark Hines, the doctor not only worked for the government, but was also a white male, which made him superior by virtue of race and gender. As a loyal employee, Nurse River always did as she was told, and knew that a nurse should not question orders given by doctors. Nurse Rivers was described as an upwardly mobile woman, who had adopted the values and attitudes of middle class culture, which suggests that class identity shaped her professional life. At the time, it was difficult to find a job, given the great economic depression in America. Moreover, having lost her job with the Alabama State health department, Nurse Rivers was more than happy work as a public health nurse. Through hard work, she achieved her goal of entering the middle class arena and having a job helped her to maintain her position. It was crucial as a black nurse struggling for a place in a profession dominated by whites, to cooperate with her superiors. Similarly, by forging relations with her white colleagues, she improved her status as a black professional working in the world of white medicine. Clearly, hard times, economic austerity and upward mobility were influential factors, and as stated by James Jones, race, professional hierarchies, class, and gender all played distinct and ... Several artists had fought for the honor of doing that, including Leonardo da Vinci and Andrea Sansovino. Financial Ratios Of Pepsico Inc Essay The calculation of ratios is the calculation technique for analyzing a company s financial performance that divides or standardize one accounting measure by another economically relevant measure. Financial ratios can be used as a tool to demonstrate financial statement users for making valid comparisons of firm operating performance, over time for the same firm and between comparable companies. External investors are mostly interested in gaining insights about a firm s profitability, asset management, liquidity, and solvency. Table 1, below, will show financial ratios of PepsiCo Inc. The table consists of 5 major elements. Profitability refers to how much income was generated by PepsiCo Inc. Then, asset management refers to how effectively the invested assets were used in the business by PepsiCo s management team. Liquidity and solvency are the related conception of analyzing financial risk. Liquidity refers to the ability of PepsiCo Inc. to generate cash and is often considered a good indication of the company s ability to pay its short term obligations; while, solvency generally refers to the ability of company to repay its outstanding long term obligation. LaMar consider the arch villainy of the ancient to be the most potent theme: Othello has been described as Shakespeare s most perfect play. Heilman discusses the ancient s instinctive reaction to the love theme of the play: Before coming directly to the forming of the love theme that differentiates Othello from other Shakespeare plays that utilize the same theme, I turn arbitrarily to Iago to inspect a distinguishing mark of his of which the relevance to thematic form in the play will appear a little later. When Iago with unperceived scoffing reminds Roderigo, who is drawn with merciless attraction to the unreachable Desdemona, that love effects an unwonted nobility in men, he states a doctrine which he knows is true but in which he may not believe. Ennoblement by love is a real possibility in men, but Iago has to view it with bitterness and to try to undermine it. (333 34) The theme of hate is the theme on which the play opens. Lily B. Campbell in Shakespeare s Tragic Heroes indicates this hate in the opening scene: It is then on a theme of hate that the play opens. It is a hate of inveterate anger. It is a hate that is bound up with envy. • 10. Colorimetric Assay Lab Report Creatinine is a waste product filtered by the kidneys into the blood (serum) and urine. High serum, and/or urine creatinine levels are indicative of kidney dysfunction. A colorimetric assay can be used to determine the creatinine concentration in the urine and serum samples from patients who are suspected to have kidney dysfunction. In the creatinine colorimetric assay the absorbance of the yellow creatinine picric complex, which is formed from the reaction between creatinine and picric acid, is read spectrophotometrically. Using spectrophotometric data one can determine the relationship between creatinine concentration and absorbance by fitting an equation to the creatinine and absorbance data. The equation sets a standard which can be used to determine the concentration of creatinine in solutions, such as blood and urine, which contain creatinine. The colorimetric assay is useful in so far as finding the concentration of creatinine. However, a diagnosis of kidney dysfunction requires the creatinine concentration in both serum and urine to be analysed. This is because serum and urine creatinine concentration can vary as function of the patient s gender, age, size (i.e., body obesity, muscle mass, or malnutrition). This can lead to creatinine concentration appearing normal when there is an underlying kidney dysfunction, or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The issue of elderly abuse is a growing topic in our country because it violates three specific articles in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. She was raped when she was nineteen, and public condemned her of losing her virtue, even though virtue is not a woman s consumable good that can be achieved by purity or lost by accident. This reaction is similar to that of school teacher in the poem of Martín Espada, My Native Costume. In the poem, the teacher asks the writer to wear traditional costume for the students even though the writer defines himself as a lawyer. Judith Slaying Holofernes is one of her masterpieces that has been acknowledged as a proper piece to understand the main characteristics of her painting style. Carol Strickland, an American art historian, explains that this painting shows how Gentileschi depicted her subject into the style of Caravaggio, who was her father s teacher and famous for dramatic lightning (Strickland, 47). Based on these facts, some critics conjecture that Gentileschi may just have borrowed the dramatic story from the Book of Judith to express her technique that resembled that of Caravaggio. They argue that it is unreasonable and too subjective to relate Judith Slaying Holofernes with the identity of Gentileschi. Identity of Gentileschi, however, cannot be separated with the story of Judith and the painting Judith Slaying Holofernes because Gentileschi s identity severely resembles that of Judith. Their struggle, success leaded by their capacity, and destruction of the gender stereotypes are main common aspects that Judith and Gentileschi share. It affects the individual and entire societies, the soldier, and the civilian. Both U.S. prisoners of war in Japan and Japanese American citizens in the United States during WWII undergo efforts to make them invisible. Laura Hillenbrand s Unbroken hero, Louie Zamperini, like so many other POWs, is imprisoned, beaten, and denied basic human rights in POW camps throughout Japan. Miné Okubo, a U.S. citizen by birth, is removed from society and interned in a protective custody camp for Japanese American citizens. She is one of the many Japanese Americans who were interned for the duration of the war. Louie Zamperini, as a POW in Japan, and Miné Okubo, as a Japanese American Internee both experience efforts to make them invisible through dehumanization and isolation in the camps of WWII, and both resist these efforts. From a very early age, Louie Zamperini was a visible young man. His charismatic/rebellious ways, and his athletic accomplishments continually put him in the spotlight, but years in Japanese POWs camps slowly eroded his visibility. He, like so many others in captivity, experienced efforts to make him invisible. During WWII, POWs were systematically stripped of their dignity in the camps of Japan, and as Hillenbrand writes, without dignity, identity is erased (189). Dehumanizing tactics by Japanese guards deny prisoners of their dignity and humanity. In ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The chapters I read reminded me of the importance of differentiating for the wide variety of needs in my classroom. It is essential that I differentiate the content, process, and product on a regular basis. Sometimes I overthink differentiated instruction, making it too complicated in my head. Carol Ann Tomlinson (2001) specifically reminded me that differentiation can be successfully accomplished by all teachers through both low preparation methods and high preparation methods. When a classroom s instruction is differentiated, teachers sometimes have questions about how grading may be different than a traditional classroom. Because of reading the above mentioned literature, I now have a greater awareness of formative assessments, rubrics, and building mutual understandings of grading practices among teachers. Formative assessment is meant to be used regularly to provide students with feedback about how they can continue to improve and grow as a learner and to inform a teacher s next step instructionally. • 21. Truth Manipulation In Maus I solemnly swear to tell the truth and nothing but the truth. But what is truth? No possible way exists for there to be a completely unfiltered recollection of the past. Whether consciously or not, events can be warped and distorted into stories with exaggerated details, fragmented incidents, and whatever specifics keep the self image we feel the need to maintain. All of these elements are seen throughout Maus, with both Art, the author, and Vladek Spiegelman exemplifying complications of truth. The subtle and not so subtle instances of truth manipulation can consistently be seen throughout the books, which cause the questioning of what can be considered reality in all literature. Whether consciously or not, truth is manipulated in literature, since perfect memories cannot be recalled, as seen in Maus. Maus displays numerous events where the line between reality and falsified details become blurred, a problem that is seen repeatedly in our own lives. Spiegelman, like all authors has the power to control what the book is conveying to the reader, either to be persuasive or manipulate of the story itself. Entire scenes were invented in Maus for Spiegelman to communicate his philosophy about truth to his readers. As said in a conversation between Art and Françoise, See what I mean, in real life you d never have let me talk this long without interrupting. The Spatial Distribution Of Temperature Essay The spatial distribution of temperature, pH , salinity , Dissolved Oxygen (D.O) , Biological Oxygen Demand (BOD), micronutrients (phosphate , nitrate and silicate ) and chlorophyll pigments were pronounced as shown in fig : 3 .The surface water temperature were homogenous within the studied area ,varying within the range 25 32° C . Generally, the temperature is influenced by the freshwater influx intensity of solar radiation, and cooling and mix up with ebb , evaporation and flow from adjoining neritic waters (Prabu et al. 2008). The estuarine water was slightly alkaline in nature throughout the study period in all the respective stations with pH value ranging from 7.7 to 8.33. The pH value was within the safe limit for drinking purpose (WHO, 1973) as well as for crop production (FAO, 1975).This pH range was the combine effects of the tides of the Bay of Bengal and fairly high buffering capacity of the water (Huang et.al;2008). The neutral sub alkaline environment at this pH substantially limits the mobility of trace metals in marine water (Manta et al., 2002). The maximum salinity (14.5 p.s.u) at Sagar (S8) and the minimum (0.17 p.s.u.) at Babughat (S3) were recorded which is attributed to higher rate of evaporation than that of precipitation and the neritic water dominance (Rajasekar; 2003). The turbidity showed a wide range of variation (1 13 NTU) being lowest at Tribeni (S1) which is the fresh water zone and highest at Lot 8 (S7), near the coastal water. The high ... Discussion Results table: Observations Process Observations Reflux When adding 3 methyl 1 butanol, sulphuric acid and ethanoic acid heat were produced by the colourless mixture, which pertained a smell of sulphuric acid. Once heating began, the solution quickly changed to orange and continued to rapidly change to a darker colour. After approximately six minutes, it began to bubble and the colour was now a dark red colour, very similar to the shade of a cherry. At this point, the liquid began to vaporise, rising up to the condenser about a third way before it was condensed to a liquid which ran back down the condenser to the pear shaped flask. The strong smell of the sulphuric smell began to fade, the smell it was replaced with still smelt strong and bad but to a less extent. The mixture remained a dark red colour for the remaining duration of the reflux process, continually bubbling. Separation/Purification The initial substance was a dark red colour, similar to the colour of a cherry. When added to approximately 20mL of water, the mixture changed to a yellow colour, forming an insoluble layer. The bottom layer, which was soluble was predominately clear but pertained the original colour of the mixture at the bottom. There was a clear distinction between the two layers. • 24. Rape And Sexual Assault In Game Of Thrones The use of rape and sexual assault as a dramatic plot device in contemporary film and television can turn out to be either highly successful or highly problematic for those involved and their viewers. In many television shows of the 2010 s, most notably American Horror Story, these unspeakable acts seem to employed as a form of light entertainment. A plot device, if you will. With seemingly no direct link to the story being told or effect on what follows after. Similarly, Game of Thrones has suffered mass criticism since it s premier back in 2011. However, the writers of GOT still vehemently defend their choice of representation of rape and sexual assault crimes, stating that it is, and was, a part of everyday life back in medieval times. Comparing these small screen representations to those on the silver screen, it could be surmised that rape and sexual assault in film is a more thought out process. Television writers are expected to turn out numerous storylines throughout series and never seem to dwell on the one plotline for too long. There are multiple direct and indirect causes that all are interconnected with one another, making it very difficult to just discuss about one topic without it overlapping with another completely different topic. One of the most unquestionable causes that lead to the outbreak of the war was the alliance system that was active in the early twentieth century and that was however set into motion well before in the mid nineteenth century. The alliance system can be viewed as major causes from two main different perspectives; it can be considered as a immediate cause or as a indirect background cause. However, the existence of the alliances is crucial to the bringing about of the first world war from both perspectives The existence of the multiple alliances and treaties is considered as a major immediate and direct cause to the bringing about of the First World War because it turned a conflict between two countries that could ve been easily contained into a full scale world war that involved multiple countries. • 28. A Short Note On Oxidation Lagoon Treatment System Essay 3.1 REPSA I Inspection Findings On July 7, 2015 the EPA and MARN inspected the REPSA I facility, including the oxidation lagoon treatment system. This wastewater treatment system treats the wastewater generated from REPSA I palm tree oil processing. The system consists of five oxidation lagoons, which included cooling stabilization lagoons, anaerobic (an anaerobic lagoon is a deep impoundment, essentially free of dissolved oxygen that promotes anaerobic conditions (USEPA 2002)), and facultative lagoons, with each lagoon having a volume of approximately 3,500 m3 (925,000 gallons). A facultative lagoon is earthen impoundment that the layer of water near the surface contains dissolved oxygen due to atmospheric reaeration and algal respiration, a condition that supports aerobic and facultative organisms, and the bottom layer of the lagoon includes sludge deposits and supports anaerobic organisms (USEPA, 2002). EPA observed that all lagoons were not sealed (no concrete, liner, clay, etc.), which may create suitable conditions for groundwater contamination. During the EPA visit, it was observed that the REPSA I lagoons were almost full to capacity, with a free board of approximately one foot (0.3 meters) (See photo 1, page 17). Typically, lagoons should have a minimum freeboard of 0.9 meters (3 feet) (USEPA, 2002). The minimum freeboard design criteria is recommended in an effort to avoid or minimize overflow during rain events of significant magnitude. In addition, EPA and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Once she found out, she was incredibly angry and left him, but he pursued her and found her. Once discovered, she eventually forgave him and for a long time they continued to live contently until one day while hunting Cephalus accidentally struck Procris with his spear. Leading from the third myth, the short myth of Orithyia and Boreas introduces one of Procris sisters, Orithyia. It is said that the North Wind Boreas fell in love with Orithyia, but the family and the people of Athens opposed the marriage because of the previous tragedies that had been inflicted upon their lives. Relentless, the North Wind swept Orithyia away one day, and they had two sons, Zetes and Calais, who would go on the Quest of the Golden Fleece. The final myth surrounds the sister of both Procris and Orithyia, Creusa, who also faced a life of misfortune. When she was young, Apollo found her and abducted her, and she bore a son that she promptly left him to die. • 42. David Hesmondhalgh David Hesmondhalgh claims that, as the media came to dominate symbol making in the twentieth century, more and more people have aspired to work in the supposed glamour of the cultural industries (2013, 83). While creative work and symbolic creation may be glamorous for some, Hesmondhalgh reminds us that a greater percentage of individuals wanting to work professionally in the cultural industries have failed in comparison to those who have succeeded (2013, 83). That being said, prior to embarking on a career in the lucrative cultural industries, it is important to research the conditions shaping work in the complex professional era. This essay will analyze the positive and negative aspects of working as a digital journalist to demonstrate how workplace flexibility, stress, precarious labor, limited creativity autonomy, and future job insecurity are defining factors of work for journalists. Moreover, as someone who is critical of the meaning and importance of capitalist work, I believe that for a job to be considered good , its goal must not be monetary, but rather philanthropic. Additionally, I require a job where my personality and creativity can flourish. Having the ability to produce unique work and not be constrained by rigid guidelines is very important to me. In regards to salary, I value a stable pay and thus an income that is not in flux or contingent on the work I produce, current economy, or company s success. I also believe that good work is employment with an adequate work life balance whereby when you leave the office, there is no pressure to continue working. As such, a philanthropic job that allows for creativity, minimum stress, and stability are important aspects to me when considering a future career ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Japanese Picture Brides The Japanese picture brides American born children who rejected their mothers culture and language remind me of myself and my own failed efforts to suppress my cultural identity at Marin Academy as a way to fit in with my peers, invoking a great feeling of empathy within me because I understand what it is like to want to feel included within a greater community. Julie Otsuka reveals the stark change that begins to occur in the mother s children when she writes, They preferred their own company to ours and pretended not to understand a word that we said... At school, I would find a quiet, empty space to talk to my parents instead of doing so out in the open. I knew that unlike most of my peers, English is not the primary language spoken at my home, and I thought I would be criticized for that. Furthermore, the children s choice to eat a more traditional American breakfast plate can also be seen as a simple act of moving away from their own culture, adopting a food that less visibly alienates them from the group of classmates they want to feel similar to. Specifically, the phrase instead of implies that the children have broken a previous routine of eating bean paste soup, a custom that was clearly established within the family because the mothers expected them to continue to eat the Japanese dish. Like these children, I have also seen how the food I eat is a way that makes me noticeably different from my peers. • 45. Moveable Feast Hemingway Ernest Hemingway is one of the greatest American 20th century novelists. Born in a Chicago suburb, he emerged as a writer quite early, starting his career immediately after high school. He served in World War I as an ambulance driver. After the war, wounded, Hemingway returned to the U.S. for a short time before settling in Paris with his first wife, Hadley Richardson. In his memoir A Moveable Feast, he describes his years in Paris as a young writer, his relationship with his wife and their infant son, as well as his circle of friends and acquaintances. However, it all seems but a background setting for his work. Throughout A Moveable Feast, Ernest Hemingway proves to be a dedicated writer. As a young writer, Hemingway worked hard on improving ... In the chapter Une Génération Perdue , Hemingway emphasizes that his particular writing process required times of rest, lest his well of... writing dries up. The only time that he was not working was when he could not work, for he had to stop when there was still something there in the deep part of the well. Eating, drinking, reading, and even having sex with his wife were only something necessary to him after he had written (12). For any talented writer, writing opens up a new world, a new reality to live in. Hemingway was not an exception: For him, writing was indeed an escape from objective reality. The way he describes his writing process in the chapter A Good Café on the Place St. Michel suggests how deep he would wander far into the story and get lost in it. When he was writing, the whole world around him would fade from existence; he did not look up nor know anything about the time (5). Countries at very low levels of economic development face such a huge challenge that they cannot hope to address them without the assistance from the rest of the world To what extent do you agree with this view? [40] In this essay I shall try and explore if countries of low levels of economic development; LICs, can only develop if they receive aid from already developed countries; HICs. I shall be weighing up both the benefits of aid and it downfalls, as well as the possibilities presented through trade alone. Is it easier for an LIC to develop through aid or by letting itself trade its way forward? With two thirds of the world being made up by LICs, economic growth, the increase in output of goods and services that a country produces ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... LICs fail to act upon the aid in order to develop but instead many see it as a way to keep afloat. Why put the time, resources and effort into developing when you will always be bailed out by these HICs. Another problem associated with aid is the idea that an LIC can receive too much of it. As free aid such as food and clothing comes in, LICs citizens, instead of purchasing these commodities, simply pick them up for free. This dumping of goods leads to unemployment as markets are forced to close down due to the option of getting their produce for free instead. With failures such as these it s clear to see why many opted instead to trade with LICs in order to cause some sort of knock on effect. LICs are often provided with trade rather then aid due to modernization. Essentially this consists of two key elements, the first being an increase in international trade and the second being a process of intensive industrialization to help provide goods for export. In effect, the developing countries were being encouraged to use the same kind of model that Western HICs had used to develop many decades ago. These modern socialist ideas of trade and economic growth took hold and became known as neoliberalism. This concept consisted of the idea that free trade is essential for economic growth, so markets should be as open as possible. This economic ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 47. Essay On Exotic Animals People Shouldn t Be Able To Have Exotic Animals There are many exotic animals all over the world that live in the wild. There are many species and some are extinct. Exotic animals are very expensive that require more than what people realize. These animals belong in their natural habitats. It is wrong and cruel for the animals that have to live in captivity when they are meant to live in the wild. Taking exotic animals out of the wild disrupts the natural food chain and negatively affects natural selection. Exotic animals belong in the wild because the reason they are exotic is because they cannot be tamed like any other pet, and if they can t be tamed, they can become a harm to the owner and to others that the animal feel threatened by. Injury and possibly death is likely to happen under such circumstances of the animals being neglected. Another reason why I believe that exotic animals do not belong under human captivity as pets is because it is harmful to the pets and the nature of them. Some animals need their families to survive and they also need to learn to hunt in order for them to survive. Once an exotic animal becomes the pet of someone, it becomes dependent which is unhealthy for the animal, especially if they are brought under captivity at such an early age. Owning exotic animals as keeping them as pets should be illegal is what I believe is right. Exotic animals kept as house pets are a hazard to the pet owners and any other people around the ...
