Privacy Vs Government Surveillance
Like every debate or dilemma there are two sides, the positive and the negative; the
advocates and the opponents. In the dilemma of privacy verses surveillance, those in
favour of government surveillance believe the government should be allowed to monitor
and observe all public and private matters in order to gather security data, because they
believe in the primacy of security over privacy(McNeil, 2016). Advocates also favour
more government surveillancetechnologies and systems in order to target and prevent
terrorist attacks, as many governments say that their surveillance technology can be used
to counter espionage efforts, hinder the spread of weapons of mass destruction and
attacks through terrorism(McNeil, 2016). However those

Milkman to be disgusted of Ruth because of Ruth s supposed affair with her father and
Ruth s nature as a sexual deviant. One day, Milkman follows Ruth to see with his own

Milkman confronts Ruth whom reveals that she did not have an affair with her father.
Ruth says, No. But I did kneel there in my slip at his bedside and kiss his beautiful

This passage from the Song of Solomon describes Lena s confrontation with Milkman
after Milkman ratted out Corinthian s relationship with Porter to Macon which led to
Macon breaking up the relationship and evicting Porter from the apartments. The passage
says, When you slept, we were quiet; when you were hungry, we cooked; when you
wanted to play, we entertained you. Lena has had enough of catering to Milkman and
Milkman pissing on everyone. Lena and Corinthian has slaved away for Milkman s
comfort without a single thank you, and they developed a strong sisterly bond as a
result. So, when Milkman ruined Corinthian s relationship, it was the last straw for
Lena and she wanted Milkman out of the house. Milkman was trying to be a better

How Human Beings Can Conserve Primate As Valuable
Species
Animals and human beings come into contact with each other in the different
environment across the world. This has been fostered by human settlement in most
regions that were delegated for animals. Whenever there is a contact between human and
animals, there is a chance for the development of a relationship. Although human beings
are familiar with the interaction of companion animals like cats, human animal
interaction also occurs in the context of farms, laboratories and in the wilderness (Davis,
Schaffner, Smith 2005). Repeated relationship can lead to developing long term friendly
relationship between animals and human beings involved. Various studies have been
developed in an attempt of developing the most critical and rational measures that can be
utilized to enhance and develop a human animal relationship (Campbell, Shideler, Todd,
Lasley 2001). These research studies have in majority concentrated on domesticated
species. This research paper is developed to critically analyze the human primate
relationship. The study critically is developed to show how human beings can conserve
primate as valuable species. The primate is used to refer to the group of mammals that
are intelligent and most developed in comparison to other animals. In the animal
kingdom they are the beings that are closest related to humans. Primate conservation has
been one of the major concerns of animal experts. The animals are intelligent and
required great attention with a critical understanding

B1: BUDGETS
The Marketplace simulation helped me realize how complicated and difficult decision
making can be when trying to build a company. Among the most important simulation
results were utilizing the budgets and pro forma statements. Budgets are beneficial as a
financial plan by listing all planned expenses and income. The purpose is to be able to
forecast revenues and expenses and create a business model that operates effectively to
make sure overhead can be paid.

I was then felt more confident to move a little more aggressively into Quarter 4.
PRO FORMA STATEMENTS
Pro forma is similar in many ways to a historical income statement; however, it projects
the future rather than tracking the past. I used the pro forma statements a lot in
determining growth decisions to see what the financial effects would be in the future. In
Quarter 4 they were very useful because I wanted to increase my sales force from 14 sales
people to 24 sales people.
I was pretty confident that our sales would justify the additional office and salary
expense. However, as I looked at the pro forma statements it became very apparent that
the sales force would sell more unit than the plant could produce. In hindsight, I should
have increase production in Quarter 2 so I could keep up with future sales in Quarter
4. As a result, I did not hire new sales people but I fine tuned my advertising by copying
my competitors and increased the advertising budget from $198,598 to $311,897. The
pro forma income statement showed total revenues at $8,280,065 which was jump from
$6,888,870. My operating profit also increased from $1,104,794 to $1,658,769. I was
content with the slow but steady growth.

Online Enlistment, Clearance, and Classroom Management...
Chapter 1
The Problem and Its Background
Introduction
In the past, pre enrollment systems took a lot of time to accomplish, from securing plenty
of forms, to getting cleared, enlisting subjects, and scheduling. Some schools even have
subject advisement before and after the enlistment phase. All these processes were done
manually and were very time consuming. Now however, with the option of porting all
these operations over the internet, they have become faster to do, more convenient, and
easily scalable. This chapter will cover the current systems for clearance, enlistment, and
classroom management of Cosmopoint International Institute of Technology (CIIT) and
propose an online system to manage these tasks. It will discuss the ... Show more content

Executive Summary
The Enlistment and Clearance System will allow students of CIIT to check online if they
are eligible to take the subjects that they need for the upcoming trimester. Students will
login to the website and they can view all the subjects they have already taken, their
grades on these subjects, subjects that they are eligible to take for the next trimester, the
schedule and classroom assignments for the said subjects, and the student s clearance
status. When a student enlists online, he picks the subjects that he is eligible to take
for the next trimester. He will also be able to choose the schedule of the said subjects
if there is more than one class being offered. After picking the subjects and schedule,
he will be shown a completed assessment form that he can print out. He will then bring
this form to the school registrar where he can pay the necessary fees and be officially
enrolled. Professors of CIIT will be able to upload their students grades online. School
administrators can change a student s clearance status online for any reason that they
see fit. Actions done will be logged. All these processes are currently being done
manually by CIIT. It is tedious and time consuming for a lot of the students and the
school s registrar office. The Online Enlistment and Clearance System aims to replace
these with an easier and speedier

Is Penis Envy Real?
Penis enlargement is the cornerstone of male enhancement. As the concept grows in
popularity, scientists, researchers, and physicians have begun to explore the reasons
behind the popularity. Most often, men wish to improve their confidence, especially in
the bedroom. Current studies are now finding that men may be seeking to improve their
penis size because of a subconscious factor that is not widely recognized.
Is Penis Envy Really the Cause of Penis Enlargement Popularity?
Before that question can be answered, we must first acknowledge that penis envy not
only exists, but it is natural and common. Whether they wish to admit it or not, men are
constantly comparing themselves to others. It is an inherent ... Show more content on

In truth, the urge to continue to measure ourselves against others remains just as strong,
but there is a stigma associated with staring at another persons manhood.
Is Penis Envy at Fault for You?
If you are a man who is seriously considering penis enlargement, do you understand your
own motivations? Many men simply jump into the procedure without truly knowing
themselves and what their subconscious desires are. It is normally in these instances that
penis enlargement goes awry, and is not as effective. If you are not sure why you wish to
enlarge your penis, you need to spend some time being honest with yourself and your
needs. Penis enlargement is a real commitment, a lengthy procedure, and something
which cannot be taken lightly.
The Most Common Reasons for Penis Enlargement
Size is not the only issue men deal with, but also shape. The condition known as
Peyrione s Disease is not incredibly common, but still affects many men. Those who
suffer from this disease often have a penis that is misshapen. Men tend to view this as
the equivalent of a deformity, and want to correct the issue to improve their sexual

Brutus is the Tragic Hero of Julius Caesar Essay
Brutus is the Tragic Hero of Julius Caesar
Shakespeare s play Julius Caesar is a tragic play, where the renowned Julius Caesar is
on the brink of achieving total control and power by becoming emperor of the Roman
Empire. Ironically enough, when he thinks he is one step away from pulling it off, his
friends (most from the senate) decide to overthrow him, with Caesar s most trusted
friend, Marcus Brutus, acting as leader of the conspirators. Though the fall of Caesar
from the most powerful man in the world to a man who s been betrayed and stabbed 30
times is a great downfall, he is not the tragic hero. Shakespeare s main focus is Marcus
Brutus, a noble man who brings upon himself a great misfortune by his own actions, ...

Moreover, Brutus is a high powered man who holds great prestige before all Romans
because of his nobility.
As noble and great as Brutus might be, all tragic heroes have some tragic flaws and
make some errors of judgment, which leads them to their downfall. In this case Brutus s
great flaw is that he is too honorable, and he s too naГЇve when he is dealing with
people. An example of an error of judgment is when Brutus underestimates Antony, and
thinks him incapable of being dangerous after Caesar s death, For Antony is but a limb
of Caesar...he can do no more than Caesar s arm When Caesar s head is off. This turns
out not to be the case. One example of Brutus s excessive honor being damaging to him,
is when he decides that only Caesar should die and no one else even if they seem to
threaten his cause, as Cassius warns repeatedly that Antony does.
Brutus s poor decision making and faults bring about his downfall, though they alone are
not totally responsible. Brutus decision to exempt Antony and let him make a speech in
Caesar s funeral incites the crowd to go against the conspirators. This brings Antony to
great power, which he then uses to pursue all the conspirators. Brutus s dire decisions
bring about many misfortunes for Brutus. The first tragedy Brutus encounters is the
disturbing death of his beloved wife, Portia,
Symbolism And Imagery In Raymond Chandler s The Big
Sleep
In this essay, I will focus on Raymond Chandler s The Big Sleep. I will try to analyze
the symbolism and imagery of Los Angels in this Raymond Chandler s fiction. The Big
Sleep talks about a dying millionaire General Sternwood hires Philip Marlowe (private
detective) to handle the blackmailer of Carmen Sternwood, one of his wild daughters.
With further investigationпјЊ Marlowe finds himself involved with more than extortion.
The Big Sleepis Raymond Chandlers first novel. It has been recognized as a landmark in
the history of the American hard boiled detective novel. It was published in 1939. At that
time, the Great Depressionwas raging and World War II was coming. The Big Sleep is
set in 1930s Los Angeles and Hollywood. Los Angeles serves as the setting for most of
Chandler s novels. Probably no writer has evoked images of Los Angeles for more
readers than Raymond Chandler. David Fine points out Raymond Chandler makes Los
Angeles becomes the permanent home of hard boiled detective fiction (1). In this novel,...

He treats the city as a living character, capturing its smells, sights, and sounds. In The
Big Sleep , we can find jam packed with corrupt policemen, double crossing women,
shady blackmailers, and gunmen for hire. Chandler uses these figures to show us some
facts from different side. Frederic Jameson points out that Chandler uses the plot
device of Marlowe waiting in his office as a monadic window from which something of
the deeper truth of Los Angeles is able to be disclosed (3). Los Angeles is about to be
seen through a perceptual window, the consciousness of Marlowe, whose sensitivity
indicates the nature of the world around him. Marlowe s retreat into his shabby office
also contains symbolic significance:he takes shelter from the chaotic society outside.
However, his office is also loaded with the endemic nothingness. He discloses a profound
truth about American life around the
The Concept Of Gasification
2. I consider these activities work because they are all things that have to get done. If I
don t, they will just pile up and overwhelm me. I have to do house chores and
homework in order to live a sane life. I could walk around in filth , but I would be
utterly disgusted by myself. I could also not do my homework, but then I would fail
my classes and I will have spent all of this money for nothing. They have to get done,
so as much as I hate it, I will do them. 3. The only challenge I that I can predict, is the
lack of time that I have to get things done. There are only twenty four hours in a day, and
all of them are pretty much jam packed with something. If one activity runs long, it will
cut in to another activities time slot. This means... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

I. will try to overcome these challenges bypassing close attention to the time. I will also
try to multitask. I can do my laundry at the same time as my homework. All I need to do
is put a load on and forget about it. I don t have to focus on a single task at once. Some
things are easier than others, so I can do a few easy things at the same time. As long as
pay attention to the clock and stick to my schedule, I should be fine. 5. The concept of
gasification really stuck out to me. I really liked the idea that if an activity is fun you are
more likely to do it for the reward of winning. No one likes to clean, but if I test myself
to see how far I can get in a room before a song ends I m not cleaning. Instead, I am
playing a game that just happens to have an outcome that will make my living space
look nicer. I will also want to beat myself. I will always think, Maybe I can get farther
with this song. 6. I can use the concept of gasification to make boring old tasks more
exciting. If I give myself goals , and more specifically rewards when I reach those goals, I
will be more likely to do the activity. If I give myself challenges to complete it won t
even feel like work at all. Instead, it will feel like I am just having a good time. It just
so happens that I will also be getting things done in the

Adaptations Are Much More Than A Mere Visual Illustration
Contrary to the general public s belief, adaptations are much more than a mere visual
illustration of a novel. When adapting a literary work, the screenwriter s integrity
towards the author is highly crucial to prevent a disagreement, which could lead to a
copyright infringement. This will also ensure the audience s approval because the
screenplay s plot is less likely to deviate from the author s fundamental storyline in the
original work. Furthermore, adapting a literary work into a screenplay consist of a very
rigorous filtering process that is often challenging for the screenwriter. The screenwriter
often faces dilemmas in which the decisions to omit or heighten certain aspects could
either ensure the movie s success or its failure.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At the beginning of the movie, although it is clear that Gordie is far more reliable than
his friends, it is made apparent that he has quite a significant amount of personal
growth to acquire. In the start of the movie, Gordie Lachance is a timid twelve year
old aspiring writer struggling with psychological abuse from his father, low self
esteem and emotional abuse by Ace the town bully. Furthermore, due to the recent
tragic death of his elder brother, Gordie is unable to mourn this loss and overcome his
personal regrets, such as his lack of desire to follow in his brother s footsteps. Thus, he
remains pessimistic about his aspirations, and substantially allows his own dreams of
becoming a writer to fester. However, the trials that he faces throughout the journey,
after taking the decision to ignore his father s authority, allows him to overcome the
harsh pessimistic views that he has of himself. Towards the end of the movie, there is
a noticeable growth that can be seen in Gordie s personality. Gordie finally realizes that
solely he can control his own destiny and as he begins to process his newly gained
optimism, he is able to gain courage and maturity, which conveys a clear sense of
progress in the protagonist s personal journey. Thus, allowing him to stand up to Ace and
his gang, disregard his oppressive father s judgments, encourage his friends to make
better life decisions, which consequently
The Day Of My Sixteenth Birthday
The day of my sixteenth birthday was boring and uneventful. Living with my Aunt and
Uncle in a farm on the outside of town, I was used to being friendless and lonely, but
waking up on my special day and realising everyone had forgotten was and all time low.
Goodmorning, I said to my Aunt, walking into the kitchen. The only reply I received
was a slight grunt and the door banging closed as she headed out to the barn. After
getting ready for school, I packed my bag and started the walk to the bus stop. The day
was beautiful, no sign of the foretold hurricane that was expected and as I whistled I
couldn t help but think that today might be an actually pleasant day.
Man was I wrong, school was a disaster. I guess that when you forget about the football
game in the next town, which the whole school is attending you will be the only one
there that day. THe sign on the locked front doors stated that classes would resume as
usual on Monday. Great. My day just went from bad to worse. The bus didn t even
come until 3, if it was still running. Feeling completely alone but not ready to give up
just yet, I treated myself to a cheesy, store bought cake, if Molly Ringwald had her own
pity cake, so would I. Approaching the grocery store I felt the eerie quiet, as crisp fall
leaves blew across the vacant street, a silence seemed to ring through the emptiness of the
town.
Finding the doors locked, typical, I contemplated what to do next, no one was in sight.

Federico Lorca s The House of Bernarda Alba and Isabel...
Federico Lorca s The House of Bernarda Alba and Isabel Allende s The House of the
Spirits
Society, and its influences upon the characters, plays a pivotal role in the development
of the story in Federico Lorca s The House of
Bernarda Alba and Isabel Allende s The House of the Spirits. Though the characters in
each literary work were influenced by a range of societal pressures, three major
influences dominate both works. The
Church, male dominance over women, and socio economic status (in other words, one s
social class) are all sources of the greatest societal pressures upon the characters. In order
to understand why these societal pressures had such a great influence upon the
characters, it is important to understand the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As a result, society plays an important role by influencing the characters and their
actions and eventually leading to a tragic finale. Though The House of The Spirits is set
in rural South America (no particular country is specified) and not rural Spain, the
society described in the novel is very similar to that in The House of
Bernarda Alba. Again, the characters live in a society dominated and controlled by men
with distinctive social class separations and with the Catholic Church wielding great
power and influence over the people. The story spans three generations of the Trueba
family who are all greatly affected by the societal influences. As society changes, the
characters also change as old pressures disappear and new pressures emerge.
As was characteristic of rural societies throughout Europe and Latin
America at the time of these literary works, the Catholic Church played a profound role
in the lives of people. Its influence was so prevalent because it was the common link
between people of all social classes. In The House of Bernarda Alba, there are many
examples of religion s great influence and significant role in the lives of the characters.
However, it must be pointed out that the Church, an institution dominated by males,
heavily repressed women and thus solidified male dominance over women in society.
At the end of Act II we see a young woman in the village that had had a child
Essay Exploring John Mill s Harm Principle
Freedom is a necessary principle to abide by in order for the human race to function. On
the other hand, freedom can be taken advantage of, thus resulting in harmful
consequences to those directly and indirectly involved. The article, On Liberty by John S.
Mills, places emphasis on the functioning of individual libertyand its co existence with
society. Mills stresses the limits of individual liberty through what is famously known
as his Harm Principle: the only purpose for which power may be rightfully exercised
over any member of a civilized community, against his will, is to prevent harm to others.
His own good, either physical or moral, is not a sufficient warrant (Cahn). With special
consideration placed on drug use and free... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This leads to an increase in criminal activity such as neglect of familial duties, robberies
to fund their dependency, and violence to defend their habits. The drugee becomes a
nuisance to society. Some become homeless and exhibit poor health habits such as
malnutrition and tooth decay. Other negative effects include the transference of diseases
because of needle sharing. Though drug use is a personal choice, the effects on the rest
of society are undeniable. The best intentions are formulated on a personal level, but this
is overcastted by its negative effects. This argument, however, is a bit one sided because
the reason for using and dependency varies between users.
In pre modern times, drugs took on a role of medicinal use. As they were distributed in a
free market without any constraints, Opium was recommended for sleepless nights,
Cocaine for anesthesia, Hashish for relaxation (Hart, Ksir Ray). These drugs were not
dubbed as harmful, therefore, under the appropriate circumstances, provided beneficial
effects to its users. More recently, individuals are more inclined to use drugs as an
escape . Stimulants provide a sort of alternate existence which tends to reduce mental
tension, increase energy, or induce euphoria (Hart, Ksir Ray). Argumentatively speaking,
drug use only affects the user, so there is no valid reasoning for impairing the freedom of
citizens by prohibiting them. Individuals benefit by having the freedom to use

The drugstore area itself is laid out in orderly rows. The shelves are lower than in the
main part of the store; my guess is that they were created to ease the look out for
shoplifters. Ads featuring smiling, multiracial, families adorn the ends of the aisles.
Each of which contains a carefully ordered section of items that go together; each of
these sections is then arranged by brand. This creates uniform blocks of brand names
and logos; the toothbrush section is, at first glance, a display of Colgate and Oral
logos. The drugstore has a wood, or fake wood, floor in contrast to the shiny, white
industrial tile that floors the rest of the store. The shelves are wood look alikes. The store
seems to have made an effort to create a more natural looking environment for the
drugstore, or health and beauty, section. This natural tone is meant to convey a feeling of
health, freshness, and cleanliness.

Essay On Roswell New Mexico
Roswell, New Mexico
To many people, Roswell is a small, lousy city with not very much to do. To others,
Roswell is a great community, the perfect place to retire, to me Roswell is home.
Throughout my life, I have traveled to many places. I have been to Sin City (Las
Vegas, NV), Denver, Colorado, Lubbock, Texas, and Chihuahua, Mexico. I love
traveling; it s fun to explore new sights and places. But no matter where I roam, Roswell,
New Mexico will always be home. I was born and raised in this quiet and peaceful city.
However, Roswell, hasn t always been a quiet place. In July of 1947, an unidentified
object crashed on a ranch near Roswell, New Mexico. According to the story, a local
rancher discovered the object and drove to Roswell to report it. The crash site was
eventually closed and the wreckage was handled by the ... Show more content on

Rumor has it, the object was a saucer, but according to the military, the object was a
weather balloon. There has been witnesses that claim they saw pieces of the object
firsthand and they described them as unusual and never before seen . Many people
think the weather balloon story was a cover up for what really happened, but to this
day, no one really knows what actually happened. Ever since then, this conspiracy has
attracted, and keeps attracting many tourists to visit the UFO Museum here in
Roswell. However, the UFO Museum is not the only impressive thing this town has to
offer. Roswell is also home to one of the most unexpected McDonald s you will ever
see. This McDonald s is actually shaped to look like an open flying saucer that has a
space theme inside. It was made to impress and represent what Roswell is most known
for, the UFO crash of 47 . In addition to the alien conspiracy, Roswell is also known for
its great state park. Bottomless Lakes State Park is a great place to visit with family in
the summer. According to the legend, the lake is supposedly bottomless, but it actually

Toowoomba City is located 125km from Brisbane in Queensland on the Western side of
the Great Dividing Range. It consists of two main creek catchments, east creek and west
creek catchments. In January 2011 there was a main flooding event which caused a large
flood event that is described as an Inland Tsunami . Figure 1 Catchment map of
Toowoomba identifying major hydraulic features. Source [1]
The factors that contributed to the major storm was:
There was an initial rainfall even of 90mm which occurred over 24 hours before which
caused the catchments to be fully saturated. As a result any major rainfall events would
be converted directly into surface water runoff
Most of the catchments depicted in Figure 1 where fully urbanised which caused surfaces
in the catchment to be impervious; that is very little runoff would infiltrate into the ground
There were intense rainfall events that occurred over the Gowrie creek catchment; with
an event greater than a 100 year ARI storm experienced at the rainfall gauges
Due to the large intensities of rainfalls caused both East and West creeks to fill up. Due
to both creeks flowing in the same direction no drainage could occur to Gworiee creek
causing inundation shown in Appendix Figure 2 Recorded Maximum rainfall intensities

OBJECTIVE
The objective of this report is to delve into the importance and study the major features
of the Vedic Age and its contribution to today s world.
INTRODUCTION
The Vedic periodalso referred to as the vedic age was that period in the Indian History
during which the Vedas, the oldest scriptures of Hinduism were composed. The Indo
Aryans, settled in North India were very closely related to the Vedic Age and its
inception. They played a key role in bringing in specific religious traditions and
customs which is commonly referred to as the Vedic Civilization. In the civilizations
early days, it was a tribal and pastoral society based in the northwestern parts of the
Indian Subcontinent. It spread to the Ganges Plain after 1200 BCE shaped by the
increasing settled agriculture, a hierarchy of four social classes and the unfolding of
monarchial, state level polities.
ORIGIN AND HOME OF THE ARYANS
The first rays of the sun pierced through and the Sun of Vedic Culture rose on the
horizon of Indian History. Who were their ancestors and where do they become apparent
in our cultural view. Questions like this have
Bigger Thomas In Native Son Essay
Is Bigger Thomas from Native Son really guilty of his crimes? This novel is today
heavily regarded as an important book that sent out a very important message. Bigger
is a african american man in the 1940 s and is faced with racism and discrimination his
entire life. Bigger experienced extreme fear and paranoia, and the crimes he
committed were a result of his vicious environment. Bigger is troubled and has become
violent due to the conditions in which he grew up in. There are many examples of
Bigger having a violent outburst, such as, Bigger aimed and let the skillet with a heavy
grunt. There was a shattering of wood as the box caved in. The woman screamed and
hid her face in her hands. Bigger tiptoed forward and peered, I got im, he... Show more

I ll help just like I always help just like I always help. But I ll be Goddamn if I m taking
orders from you, Bigger! You just a scared coward! You calling me a coward so
nobody ll see how scared you is! (Wright 27) When people like Gus point out Bigger s
fear, he goes through one of his huge outburst. This is the only way in which Bigger
can cope with his emotions despite the trouble it causes him constant trouble. There
are also allusions to Bigger s thoughts of violence: He felt suddenly that he wanted
something in his hand, something solid and heavy: his gun, a knife, a brick. Such
pervasive violence has disturbed many readers. Wright conveyed, in How Bigger was
Born, his belief that placing a group of oppressed people in a savage environment, like
the ghetto, is an invitation for more Bigger Thomases. ( Native Son ) Richard Wright
created Bigger to represent african americans that live in these hostile environments.
The story Native Son illustrates how the mistreatment of a group of people can become
a serious issue and potentially lead to serious crimes, such as murder. The crimes
committed by Bigger Thomas were a result of the environment he had been exposed to
his entire life. The long term effects of this vicious environment mixed have birthed a

Mary Rowlandson Vs Panther Captivity
The captivity narratives of Mary Rowlandson and Hannah Dustan, as well as the
fictional Panther Captivity , are all about a woman getting captured by Native
Americans (which were called Indians at the time), and they each feature her struggles
to survive and escape. The women, or protagonists, of each story fight against their
captors in vastly different ways, with some being more violent than others, but society
accepts every one of them at the end. There is one characteristic that they all had in
common, and it s that they all remained civil in some form or another, either by not
becoming hostile and savage or by maintaining a faith in God. Considering that the texts
also refer to the Indians as dreadful beings, it seems that the... Show more content on

In fact, Rowlandson was surprised when she realized that God was watching over
them as much as he does with the Christians. [S]trangely did the Lord provide for
them; that I did not see (all the time I was among them) one man, woman, or child, die
with hunger (138). She didn t expect God to provide for the Indians because she saw
them all as unholy and undeserving of it. The video game will use a simple sprite
based art style (as in everything is made with pixels) as opposed to a complex detailed
art style to reflect this narrow minded idea. All the characters are displayed through
basic human sprites, but the Indian sprites are red while the non Indian (or Christian)
sprites aren t. All the sprites look like humans, because all the characters are human,
and God is providing for all of them. However, the difference in color is enough of a
distinction for players to determine who is an enemy and who is an ally , in the same
way that the Christians overgeneralized the Indians as these sinful enemies at the time.
Rowlandson s approach to escaping is unique in that she doesn t actually try to escape.
Even when a couple offers to help her, she declines, saying I was not willing to run
away, but desired to wait in God s time, that I
Comparing Thrymskvitha And Pentheus
When comparing the Thrymskvitha text with the Pentheus text, one is able to take note
of similarities in the circumstances of each passage, as well as similarities between the
characters involved. If one is familiar with the Thrymskvitha , then they know that Loki,
the god of mischief, steals Mjolnir, the hammer which belongs to the god of thunder, Thor
, and gives it to Thrym, the Jotunn king. The giant king, in turn, wants Freyja, the
goddess of love, to give him her hand in marriage. Freyja refuses to do this, and in a
twist of fate for the god of thunder, he is convinced by Heimdall to adorn Freyja s bridal
gown and travel to the hall of the Jotunn king to reclaim his stolen hammer. Once the
Jotunn king brings out the hammer to
The Importance Of Gender Pronouns
Introduce the issue
Gender pronouns are an ever growing issue in our world, developing into an
exceptionally hot
topic in today s society. There are some citizens out there who prefer the use of non
binary pronouns
such as they/their instead of him/her, because they feel as though their gender should not
be assumed.
Even though some people may not agree with banning gender pronouns, it would protect
transgender
and other non binary people from discrimination, expand the possibilities for gender
identity and
expression, and reduce the impact that gender has on our educational system.
Explain why it is compelling to you
Gender pronouns make me curious because most humans do not have to worry about
harassment due to their gender or how they portray themselves. This is bothersome to me
because we
are all human beings and in my opinion, deserve the same rights as everyone else. There
are many
obstacles that trans and non binary people have to face, such as harassment,
discrimination, and they
may not get the same opportunities within the job market or colleges because of their
personal gender
choices. A national Transgender Discrimination Survey showed that 26% of trans people
lost their jobs
due to bias, 50% were harassed on the job, 20% were evicted or denied housing, and 78%
of trans
students were harassed or assaulted (Transequality.org. 2017.) From the web article Non
Discrimination Laws they state,
Risk Taking Behaviors
Over 70% of adolescent deaths each year are caused by risk taking behaviors, such as
reckless driving. Even though parents allow their adolescent to be more independent,
adolescents tend to engage in more maladaptive, risky behaviors when unsupervised. Due
to the immaturity of their prefrontal cortex, adolescents may not yet have the cognitive
resources to effectively avoid risky behaviors and so parents may play an important role,
helping their children to regulate their behaviors and engage in more adaptive decision
making. Each adolescent took a simulated drivingcourse with stoplights had to decide
on either to stop or go by pressing one of two buttons. The goal was to get through the
course as fast as they could, which resulted in more... Show more content on

All participants provided written assent. The data was collected by using an MRI
scanner. They used quantitative data, but taking all of the participants data and
comparing it to the others.
They found out that adolescents make significantly more risky decisions when alone than
when their mothers were present. The analysis they used correlation of alone vs. mother.
The approach of the research was developmental. They are trying to figure out what
parts of the brain are reacting when the adolescents make a decision and why they take
more risk when their parents are not around.
The book states how adolescents drive depends on who is in the car; adolescents drive
much more safely when their parents are passengers than when they are driving alone or
with their friends (Steinburg 66). I believe this is true, because from the study they found
out that all of the participants took more risk when they were alone than when their
mother was watching them.
Risk taking is a big problem for adolescents. They tend to take more risk because of
their peer groups to impress them instead of thinking of the consequences their decision
may cause. From this article I learned what parts of the brain react to their decision on
just deciding to stop or go at a traffic
Kinnaman s Analysis
Kinnaman s assessment of how Christians are perceived by non Christians should
motivate us to go back to the drawing board, analyze ourselves, and put a new plan of
action together. Christians should care what outsiders think about them because we are
Christ s ambassadors (Kinnaman, 2007). As noted by Kinnaman (2007), when outsiders
question our motives, it neutralizes their interest in Christianity(p. 69). Christians should
embody love, compassion, patience, forgiveness, and service, among other things and if
this is not the case, then, we are clearly misrepresenting the love and the grace of the
Father (Kinnaman, 2007). Therefore, we cannot stand aloof from these negative
perceptions and pretend there s nothing wrong.
According to Kinnaman
Managing Change Within The Organization
Managing change in organization is quite challenging especially to the workers since
they have to start working on areas they not familiar with. Faced with inadequate
knowledge and experience in these unfamiliar areas, most of the workers will tend to
assume that change is unachievable even in a short period of time. This makes it a very
uncomfortable area to venture for most of the workers in the different organisations.
With change being one of the most import and critical areas that any organization
striving to attain success has to consider, a lot needs to be invested in order to keep it
thriving despite the ever increasing levels of competition that exist.

Being coupled with the fear of unknown on the part of workers it usually results to loss
of control in the organization and the unavoidable inability to attain the organization set

Change management defined by Weiss (2001) as cited in Hughes 2006 P: 11) involves
the transfer of information, status, influence, authority and power as described by some
researchers. Over the years, Lewin (1952) has suggested one of the various management
strategies for ensuring effective change in an organization. The management strategies
are usually classified into a three staged process which is: Moving, Unfreezing and
Refreezing (Senior Swailes 2010). In the Moving stage, the opinions of the organization
are heavily emphasized and implemented while on the unfreezing stage change appears
to be integral and encompasses the opinions of different people in the organization
involved in its daily operations. Lastly, the refreezing state is all about ensuring stability
by issuing training systems and support groups to enhance the new and desired behaviors
among the employees. (Burns 2004 cited in Hayes 2007)
Innovation among the employees of keen in an organization as it enables them to
perform at their maximum potential. This is achieved by involving the employees on the
daily running of the organization will giving them total freedom of creating,
implementing and following up on their very own ideas. This will
Tiffany Writing Development Essay
In Tiffany Writing Development case study, it is learned that Tiffany s writing
development began very early on. The key features of children s development as
writers are evident in Tiffany s case. In assessing her early forms of writing, it is evident
that Tiffany s writing progression is similar to the Children s WritingProgression Sample
and Sulzby s categories of emergent writing illustrated in the class textbook.
According to the case study, Tiffany s early form of writing began at 36 months old
during a visit to the bank with her mom. While her mom was being attended to, Tiffany
occupied herself by filling out a handful of blank bank forms with many squiggly lines
and some picture like forms. The initial use of pictographs and scribble ... Show more

Tiffany s kindergarten teacher had her and her classmates write journal entries at their
own developmental level. It was at this point that Tiffany began to separate her words
and wrote her first invented spelling journal entries. Her writing sample is similar to
the one illustrated in the Children s Writing Progression Sample. According to Sulzby
s categories of emergent writing, invented spelling is defined as spelling using letter
sound relationships that can range from using one letter per word to using a letter for
several sounds in each word (Vukelich, Christie Enz, 2012, p. 174). When she finally
entered first grade, she was able to identify all uppercase and lowercase alphabet
symbols, distinguish and label all single consonant and vowel sounds, express her
thoughts in written form by using invented spelling, and could read familiar predictable
Animalistic Impulses Research Paper
Animalistic impulses in humans do exist. Not only do they exist, but they exist as a
part of your everyday life. When you hear animalistic impulses, you think of negative
reactions that were ingrained into you over many generations. The wild instincts and
reactions we have can be positive. One example of this is fight or flight. Another is
laughing while you re being tickled. You might think these have no connection, but they
are more similar than you think. Fight or flight is a response to adrenaline. Adrenaline
is a protein created in your cells as a reaction to a stimulant. This stimulant can be
someone jumping at you from behind a door, or it can be quick decision making. Your
brainresponds accordingly to the stimulus. If

Joseph Turner Slave Ship Essay
My Initial Reaction to the Work
Out of the choices I had to pick from for my analysis. I chose the painting, Slave Ship
by Joseph Turner, due to the chaos I see in the painting. Not only is the event being
portrayed very chaotic, but the painting itself is full of turmoil as well. The painting has
vigorous brush strokes and the colors seem to melt together in areas, leaving the sky and
the sea hard to distinguish in the middle portion of the painting. The artist also uses bright
and dark colors, allowing the creation of pandemonium that I feel when I see this work.
You can see the beginning of a storm on the left of the painting along with a boat
heading into the rougher waters caused by the weather, resulting in the bow to be
propelled upward.
The bottom portion of the painting is topsy turvy as well, showing shackled hands and
chains raised from the turbulent seas. With close inspection, you can see fish within the
thrashing waves on the bottom left portion of the painting. There are fish seen
swarming a shackled hand in the bottom right portion of the work as well. One could
possibly argue that the fish are sea monsters. I also see something that s hard for me to
make out, but I think it may be an emergency boat partially emerged from the waters.
Lastly, I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Due to his focus on color and lighting, often found in the Romantic period art work,
Joseph s work went on to influence the Impressionist movement. Throughout Turner s
career, he remained highly sought after and he acquired a very large fortune from his
commissions. Museum of Fine Arts in Boston (2015, May 25) mentions one of the
most notable critiques of the work is from the first owner of the Slave Ship , known as
John Ruskin, who stated If I were reduced to rest Turner s immortality upon any single
work, I should choose this. The Slave Ship was considered one of the most noble art
pieces in the landscape
The Importance Of The NBA
The NBA is one of the most entertaining sports known to man. The NBA consists of a
lot of highlights, most of the highlights have nothing to do with actually playing
basketball. The NBA provides various organizations to help the less fortunate, they
also do a lot of camps and gatherings to make better players out of younger kids. Also,
the NBA brings so many eye catching aspects to the game, such as special uniforms
for holidays, expensive tennis shoes and amazing in games moves only the best of the
best can master. But just like everyone else the NBA isn t perfect, it s a game of
favoritism and personal agendas. The NBA is getting bigger and bigger every year it
continues.
The NBA gives back to the community regularly. Not necessarily the NBA but the
players in the NBA. Oklahoma City, Thunder s point guard Russell Westbrook has his
own charity called the Why Not? Foundation. In December on Christmas Russell and his
Why Not? Foundation got together with others to give gifts to about 10,000 or more
children in foster care. Los Angeles Lakers center Pau Gasol has gave $10,000 to
UNICEF to help build safe schools in Africa. He has also pledged to give $1,000 for
every shoot he has made in a specific game, to help the Philippines after a hard hitting
typhoon. Back in 2005 the now Huston Rockets point guard Chris Paul was in New
Orleans when it was hit by hurricane Katrina. The superstar has help with repairs
tremendously, he now has five charities and seven causes he regularly
The Iron Cage By Sociologist Max Weber
Have you ever felt trapped within the daily responsibilities and tasks that make up your
daily agenda or planner? Have you ever felt as an individual who s not living his or her
own life, but rather living by the standards and norms opposed and followed by the
members of our modern day society? If your answer is yes to any of the two questions
above, then you are experiencing and living what is known today as the Iron Cage . The
Iron Cage refers to a very simple, yet complex theory developed by sociologist Max
Weber. In his theory which addresses a sociological problem regarding standards of
living; Dr. Alana Bibeau further deliberated on how Weber argues, that an individual s
life is being transformed not only by the ideas of efficiency, but shaped by the
increasing means of rationality and calculability. Though it can be argued by some that
the increasing means of efficiency, rationality, and calculability have no impact on the
identity and development of a person, I stand strong to the belief that the increasing
means of these three factors, contribute to an individual s loss of identity; at the same
time these three factors also contribute and shape an individual s life, this of course,
going in accordance with what society has been idealized with within the context of
Weber s theory of the Iron Cage .
For my first experimental project, my group and I focused on how wellness centers are

The site makes a point that no matter who you are, you can be a hero. The site does not
only focus on Patch however, he is an example of how acts of heroism will be honored
by many people, the site also focused on every person that participated in WW1. The
overall goal of the website was to demonstrate that no matter where you come from or
what you have been through you can be a hero, you can be the bigger person and make a
change. In a war you have to work together and watch each other s backs. You have to
be able to trust the people are your side and be there for them as well. All you need to
do is be brave and be able to take a stand. Everyone in life as the chance to be a hero,
when you get that chance you should take it and show the people around you that it is
possible to make a difference. It does not matter if you are a man or a women, it matters
if you are brave and take the initiative. You can be the one to inspire others to do the

1. Discuss the role of leadership and how it can impact organizational performance.
Leadership can be defined as the process where those given the role of directing are to

As CEO, Alan Mulally created a plastic cards with four goals on the side (В« Expected
Behaviors В») and a revised definition of the company (В« One Ford В») on the
other(Hellriegel/Slocum, 2011, page 544).
Mulally as leader have focused on the customer, have a compelling vision, relentless
implementation, great team. Mulally has a plan and goal for Ford and the believes that
the biggest part is to change the Ford organization culture as well.
3. Discuss how goal setting helped Ford improve its performance.
According to Hellriegel/Slocum, 2011, p 202 203, five conditions are needed in order to
have an effective goal setting process in place: вќ– The employee must have the
knowledge and ability to attain the goal. вќ– The employee must be committed to the
goal, especially if the goal is difficult. вќ– People need feedback on their progress
towards the goal. вќ– Tasks that are complex need to be broke down so that employee
can set subgoals that can be attained. вќ– One of the primary roles of a manager is to
ensure that employee have the resources necessary to attain their goals and to remove
obstacles in the way of accomplishing those goals
Let s see if Ford goal setting met all the above criteria:
1) Ford s employees are trained.
2) The challenge for the new leader of Ford was rather to motivate them in

  • 2. Privacy Vs Government Surveillance Like every debate or dilemma there are two sides, the positive and the negative; the advocates and the opponents. In the dilemma of privacy verses surveillance, those in favour of government surveillance believe the government should be allowed to monitor and observe all public and private matters in order to gather security data, because they believe in the primacy of security over privacy(McNeil, 2016). Advocates also favour more government surveillancetechnologies and systems in order to target and prevent terrorist attacks, as many governments say that their surveillance technology can be used to counter espionage efforts, hinder the spread of weapons of mass destruction and attacks through terrorism(McNeil, 2016). However those
  • 3. Song Of Solomon Rhetorical Analysis Song of Solomon Quotation Explication Test 3.The passage from Song of Solomon by Toni Morrison describes Milkman s confrontation with his mother, Ruth, at the cemetery. Before, Macon has convinced Milkman to be disgusted of Ruth because of Ruth s supposed affair with her father and Ruth s nature as a sexual deviant. One day, Milkman follows Ruth to see with his own eyes the proof that Ruth is a sexual deviant, and Milkman is led to the cemetery. Milkman confronts Ruth whom reveals that she did not have an affair with her father. Ruth says, No. But I did kneel there in my slip at his bedside and kiss his beautiful fingers, which contradicts Macon s account of what happened. Ruth, fully clothed, only kissed the hands of her mother. Ruth did not strip naked and kiss her father on the mouth like Macon said. Then, Milkman points out Ruth s nursing of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This passage from the Song of Solomon describes Lena s confrontation with Milkman after Milkman ratted out Corinthian s relationship with Porter to Macon which led to Macon breaking up the relationship and evicting Porter from the apartments. The passage says, When you slept, we were quiet; when you were hungry, we cooked; when you wanted to play, we entertained you. Lena has had enough of catering to Milkman and Milkman pissing on everyone. Lena and Corinthian has slaved away for Milkman s comfort without a single thank you, and they developed a strong sisterly bond as a result. So, when Milkman ruined Corinthian s relationship, it was the last straw for Lena and she wanted Milkman out of the house. Milkman was trying to be a better persona and calmly said, Lena, cool it. I don t want to hear it. However, Milkman came out as apathetic and uncaring to Lena who replies that the only reason Milkman has the right to decide our lives is due to the that hog s gut that hangs down between your legs. Proving that while Milkman is starting to realize his faults and is trying to change, Milkman still has a lot of
  • 4. How Human Beings Can Conserve Primate As Valuable Species Animals and human beings come into contact with each other in the different environment across the world. This has been fostered by human settlement in most regions that were delegated for animals. Whenever there is a contact between human and animals, there is a chance for the development of a relationship. Although human beings are familiar with the interaction of companion animals like cats, human animal interaction also occurs in the context of farms, laboratories and in the wilderness (Davis, Schaffner, Smith 2005). Repeated relationship can lead to developing long term friendly relationship between animals and human beings involved. Various studies have been developed in an attempt of developing the most critical and rational measures that can be utilized to enhance and develop a human animal relationship (Campbell, Shideler, Todd, Lasley 2001). These research studies have in majority concentrated on domesticated species. This research paper is developed to critically analyze the human primate relationship. The study critically is developed to show how human beings can conserve primate as valuable species. The primate is used to refer to the group of mammals that are intelligent and most developed in comparison to other animals. In the animal kingdom they are the beings that are closest related to humans. Primate conservation has been one of the major concerns of animal experts. The animals are intelligent and required great attention with a critical understanding
  • 5. Supply Chain Task 1 B1: BUDGETS The Marketplace simulation helped me realize how complicated and difficult decision making can be when trying to build a company. Among the most important simulation results were utilizing the budgets and pro forma statements. Budgets are beneficial as a financial plan by listing all planned expenses and income. The purpose is to be able to forecast revenues and expenses and create a business model that operates effectively to make sure overhead can be paid. Top of Form Income Statement| | Quarter 1| Quarter 2| Quarter 3| Quarter 4| Gross Profit| Revenues| 0| 2,073,055| 6,888,870| 8,280,065| Rebates| 0| 63,375| 204,750| 238,875| Cost of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I was then felt more confident to move a little more aggressively into Quarter 4. PRO FORMA STATEMENTS Pro forma is similar in many ways to a historical income statement; however, it projects the future rather than tracking the past. I used the pro forma statements a lot in determining growth decisions to see what the financial effects would be in the future. In Quarter 4 they were very useful because I wanted to increase my sales force from 14 sales people to 24 sales people. I was pretty confident that our sales would justify the additional office and salary expense. However, as I looked at the pro forma statements it became very apparent that the sales force would sell more unit than the plant could produce. In hindsight, I should have increase production in Quarter 2 so I could keep up with future sales in Quarter 4. As a result, I did not hire new sales people but I fine tuned my advertising by copying my competitors and increased the advertising budget from $198,598 to $311,897. The pro forma income statement showed total revenues at $8,280,065 which was jump from $6,888,870. My operating profit also increased from $1,104,794 to $1,658,769. I was content with the slow but steady growth. • 6. Online Enlistment, Clearance, and Classroom Management... Chapter 1 The Problem and Its Background Introduction In the past, pre enrollment systems took a lot of time to accomplish, from securing plenty of forms, to getting cleared, enlisting subjects, and scheduling. Some schools even have subject advisement before and after the enlistment phase. All these processes were done manually and were very time consuming. Now however, with the option of porting all these operations over the internet, they have become faster to do, more convenient, and easily scalable. This chapter will cover the current systems for clearance, enlistment, and classroom management of Cosmopoint International Institute of Technology (CIIT) and propose an online system to manage these tasks. It will discuss the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... ( http://www.ciit ph.com/ About Us page) Executive Summary The Enlistment and Clearance System will allow students of CIIT to check online if they are eligible to take the subjects that they need for the upcoming trimester. Students will login to the website and they can view all the subjects they have already taken, their grades on these subjects, subjects that they are eligible to take for the next trimester, the schedule and classroom assignments for the said subjects, and the student s clearance status. When a student enlists online, he picks the subjects that he is eligible to take for the next trimester. Brutus is the Tragic Hero of Julius Caesar Essay Brutus is the Tragic Hero of Julius Caesar Shakespeare s play Julius Caesar is a tragic play, where the renowned Julius Caesar is on the brink of achieving total control and power by becoming emperor of the Roman Empire. Ironically enough, when he thinks he is one step away from pulling it off, his friends (most from the senate) decide to overthrow him, with Caesar s most trusted friend, Marcus Brutus, acting as leader of the conspirators. Though the fall of Caesar from the most powerful man in the world to a man who s been betrayed and stabbed 30 times is a great downfall, he is not the tragic hero. Moreover, Brutus is a high powered man who holds great prestige before all Romans because of his nobility. As noble and great as Brutus might be, all tragic heroes have some tragic flaws and make some errors of judgment, which leads them to their downfall. In this case Brutus s great flaw is that he is too honorable, and he s too naГЇve when he is dealing with people. An example of an error of judgment is when Brutus underestimates Antony, and thinks him incapable of being dangerous after Caesar s death, For Antony is but a limb of Caesar...he can do no more than Caesar s arm When Caesar s head is off. This turns out not to be the case. One example of Brutus s excessive honor being damaging to him, is when he decides that only Caesar should die and no one else even if they seem to threaten his cause, as Cassius warns repeatedly that Antony does. Brutus s poor decision making and faults bring about his downfall, though they alone are not totally responsible. Brutus decision to exempt Antony and let him make a speech in Caesar s funeral incites the crowd to go against the conspirators. This brings Antony to great power, which he then uses to pursue all the conspirators. Brutus s dire decisions bring about many misfortunes for Brutus. The first tragedy Brutus encounters is the disturbing death of his beloved wife, Portia,

I will try to analyze the symbolism and imagery of Los Angels in this Raymond Chandler s fiction. The Big Sleep talks about a dying millionaire General Sternwood hires Philip Marlowe (private detective) to handle the blackmailer of Carmen Sternwood, one of his wild daughters. With further investigationпјЊ Marlowe finds himself involved with more than extortion. The Big Sleepis Raymond Chandlers first novel. It has been recognized as a landmark in the history of the American hard boiled detective novel. It was published in 1939. At that time, the Great Depressionwas raging and World War II was coming. The Big Sleep is set in 1930s Los Angeles and Hollywood. Los Angeles serves as the setting for most of Chandler s novels. Probably no writer has evoked images of Los Angeles for more readers than Raymond Chandler. David Fine points out Raymond Chandler makes Los Angeles becomes the permanent home of hard boiled detective fiction (1). In this novel,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Frederic Jameson points out that Chandler uses the plot device of Marlowe waiting in his office as a monadic window from which something of the deeper truth of Los Angeles is able to be disclosed (3). Los Angeles is about to be seen through a perceptual window, the consciousness of Marlowe, whose sensitivity indicates the nature of the world around him. Marlowe s retreat into his shabby office also contains symbolic significance:he takes shelter from the chaotic society outside. However, his office is also loaded with the endemic nothingness. He discloses a profound truth about American life around the

Goodmorning, I said to my Aunt, walking into the kitchen. The only reply I received was a slight grunt and the door banging closed as she headed out to the barn. After getting ready for school, I packed my bag and started the walk to the bus stop. The day was beautiful, no sign of the foretold hurricane that was expected and as I whistled I couldn t help but think that today might be an actually pleasant day. Though The House of The Spirits is set in rural South America (no particular country is specified) and not rural Spain, the society described in the novel is very similar to that in The House of Bernarda Alba. Again, the characters live in a society dominated and controlled by men with distinctive social class separations and with the Catholic Church wielding great power and influence over the people. The story spans three generations of the Trueba family who are all greatly affected by the societal influences. As society changes, the characters also change as old pressures disappear and new pressures emerge. As was characteristic of rural societies throughout Europe and Latin America at the time of these literary works, the Catholic Church played a profound role in the lives of people. Its influence was so prevalent because it was the common link between people of all social classes. In The House of Bernarda Alba, there are many examples of religion s great influence and significant role in the lives of the characters. However, it must be pointed out that the Church, an institution dominated by males, heavily repressed women and thus solidified male dominance over women in society. At the end of Act II we see a young woman in the village that had had a child

Mills stresses the limits of individual liberty through what is famously known as his Harm Principle: the only purpose for which power may be rightfully exercised over any member of a civilized community, against his will, is to prevent harm to others. Some become homeless and exhibit poor health habits such as malnutrition and tooth decay. Other negative effects include the transference of diseases because of needle sharing. Though drug use is a personal choice, the effects on the rest of society are undeniable. The best intentions are formulated on a personal level, but this is overcastted by its negative effects. This argument, however, is a bit one sided because the reason for using and dependency varies between users. In pre modern times, drugs took on a role of medicinal use. As they were distributed in a free market without any constraints, Opium was recommended for sleepless nights, Cocaine for anesthesia, Hashish for relaxation (Hart, Ksir Ray). These drugs were not dubbed as harmful, therefore, under the appropriate circumstances, provided beneficial effects to its users. More recently, individuals are more inclined to use drugs as an escape . Stimulants provide a sort of alternate existence which tends to reduce mental tension, increase energy, or induce euphoria (Hart, Ksir Ray). Argumentatively speaking, drug use only affects the user, so there is no valid reasoning for impairing the freedom of citizens by prohibiting them. Individuals benefit by having the freedom to use

There are many obstacles that trans and non binary people have to face, such as harassment, discrimination, and they may not get the same opportunities within the job market or colleges because of their personal gender choices. A national Transgender Discrimination Survey showed that 26% of trans people lost their jobs due to bias, 50% were harassed on the job, 20% were evicted or denied housing, and 78% of trans students were harassed or assaulted (Transequality.org. 2017.) From the web article Non Discrimination Laws they state,
  • 27. Risk Taking Behaviors Over 70% of adolescent deaths each year are caused by risk taking behaviors, such as reckless driving. Even though parents allow their adolescent to be more independent, adolescents tend to engage in more maladaptive, risky behaviors when unsupervised. Due to the immaturity of their prefrontal cortex, adolescents may not yet have the cognitive resources to effectively avoid risky behaviors and so parents may play an important role, helping their children to regulate their behaviors and engage in more adaptive decision making. Each adolescent took a simulated drivingcourse with stoplights had to decide on either to stop or go by pressing one of two buttons. The goal was to get through the course as fast as they could, which resulted in more... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... All participants provided written assent. The data was collected by using an MRI scanner. They used quantitative data, but taking all of the participants data and comparing it to the others. They found out that adolescents make significantly more risky decisions when alone than when their mothers were present. The analysis they used correlation of alone vs. mother. The approach of the research was developmental. They are trying to figure out what parts of the brain are reacting when the adolescents make a decision and why they take more risk when their parents are not around. The book states how adolescents drive depends on who is in the car; adolescents drive much more safely when their parents are passengers than when they are driving alone or with their friends (Steinburg 66). I believe this is true, because from the study they found out that all of the participants took more risk when they were alone than when their mother was watching them. Risk taking is a big problem for adolescents. They tend to take more risk because of their peer groups to impress them instead of thinking of the consequences their decision may cause. From this article I learned what parts of the brain react to their decision on just deciding to stop or go at a traffic
  • 28. Kinnaman s Analysis Kinnaman s assessment of how Christians are perceived by non Christians should motivate us to go back to the drawing board, analyze ourselves, and put a new plan of action together. Christians should care what outsiders think about them because we are Christ s ambassadors (Kinnaman, 2007). As noted by Kinnaman (2007), when outsiders question our motives, it neutralizes their interest in Christianity(p. 69). Christians should embody love, compassion, patience, forgiveness, and service, among other things and if this is not the case, then, we are clearly misrepresenting the love and the grace of the Father (Kinnaman, 2007). Therefore, we cannot stand aloof from these negative perceptions and pretend there s nothing wrong. According to Kinnaman

The management strategies are usually classified into a three staged process which is: Moving, Unfreezing and Refreezing (Senior Swailes 2010). • 31. Animalistic Impulses Research Paper Animalistic impulses in humans do exist. Not only do they exist, but they exist as a part of your everyday life. When you hear animalistic impulses, you think of negative reactions that were ingrained into you over many generations. The wild instincts and reactions we have can be positive. One example of this is fight or flight. Another is laughing while you re being tickled. You might think these have no connection, but they are more similar than you think. Fight or flight is a response to adrenaline. Adrenaline is a protein created in your cells as a reaction to a stimulant. This stimulant can be someone jumping at you from behind a door, or it can be quick decision making. Your brainresponds accordingly to the stimulus. If

  • 33. Joseph Turner Slave Ship Essay My Initial Reaction to the Work Out of the choices I had to pick from for my analysis. I chose the painting, Slave Ship by Joseph Turner, due to the chaos I see in the painting. Not only is the event being portrayed very chaotic, but the painting itself is full of turmoil as well. The painting has vigorous brush strokes and the colors seem to melt together in areas, leaving the sky and the sea hard to distinguish in the middle portion of the painting. The artist also uses bright and dark colors, allowing the creation of pandemonium that I feel when I see this work. You can see the beginning of a storm on the left of the painting along with a boat heading into the rougher waters caused by the weather, resulting in the bow to be propelled upward. The bottom portion of the painting is topsy turvy as well, showing shackled hands and chains raised from the turbulent seas. With close inspection, you can see fish within the thrashing waves on the bottom left portion of the painting. There are fish seen swarming a shackled hand in the bottom right portion of the work as well. One could possibly argue that the fish are sea monsters. I also see something that s hard for me to make out, but I think it may be an emergency boat partially emerged from the waters. Lastly, I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Also, the NBA brings so many eye catching aspects to the game, such as special uniforms for holidays, expensive tennis shoes and amazing in games moves only the best of the best can master. But just like everyone else the NBA isn t perfect, it s a game of favoritism and personal agendas. The NBA is getting bigger and bigger every year it continues. The NBA gives back to the community regularly. Not necessarily the NBA but the players in the NBA. Oklahoma City, Thunder s point guard Russell Westbrook has his own charity called the Why Not? Have you ever felt as an individual who s not living his or her own life, but rather living by the standards and norms opposed and followed by the members of our modern day society? If your answer is yes to any of the two questions above, then you are experiencing and living what is known today as the Iron Cage . The Iron Cage refers to a very simple, yet complex theory developed by sociologist Max Weber. In his theory which addresses a sociological problem regarding standards of living; Dr. Alana Bibeau further deliberated on how Weber argues, that an individual s life is being transformed not only by the ideas of efficiency, but shaped by the increasing means of rationality and calculability. Though it can be argued by some that the increasing means of efficiency, rationality, and calculability have no impact on the identity and development of a person, I stand strong to the belief that the increasing means of these three factors, contribute to an individual s loss of identity; at the same time these three factors also contribute and shape an individual s life, this of course, going in accordance with what society has been idealized with within the context of Weber s theory of the Iron Cage . For my first experimental project, my group and I focused on how wellness centers are Iron Caged into the belief of Women to the cardio machines , and Men to the
