The Importance of Non-Verbal Communication
Introduction
Non verbal communication has been a major factor contributing towards our day to day lives. In
terms of design and workplace as well as cultural variations non verbal communication plays an
important role in these places. It includes the usage of the human s subconscious mind to construct
a series of facial expressions, hand gestures as well as the usage of the human s vocal tones which
indeed causes a form of effective communication if used in the right manner. For example, when
parents use non verbal communication to infant children who are not yet familiar with verbal
communication itself when effective this might create a form of assurance to those infants who
may in turn respond to the message in a much positive manner. ... Show more content on

Meanwhile, Interpersonal communication deals with an exchange of communication between two
or more individuals. Non verbal communication is classified into three languages sign, action,
and object languages. (Wang,2009) And these languages can cause a greater effect on
interpersonal if utilized in both ways. The zoning of individuals also do affect the form of
interpersonal communication used for example intimate, personal, social and public zones. These
form of distance based can be of much significance. According to Wang s research the nearer the
person the more open the person is in terms of communication such as his ability to transfer secret
messages are much improved if he s close to another individual or a group of people than of he s
on a much longer distance. Interpersonal communication plays a great deal in our lives especially
when it comes to workforce planning therefore it is important for us to assume that if humans are
more expert in the field of non verbal communication we would actually get better results especially
with interpersonal communication.
Conclusion
Communication has been a major player in our lives that it somehow became a globalized
phenomenon. An effective communication leads to better results when talking with people
colleagues and therefore this change of communication is leading the world to change their way of
thinking. In my opinion, I

The Dangers Of Inclusion In The Classroom
What is inclusion? Inclusion is part of a much larger picture then just placement in regular class
within school. It is being included in life and participating using one s abilities in day to day
activities as a member of the community (Colleen, F. Tomko). By providing the opportunity to
children to learn and experience the sense of community that says, Here everybody belongs, plays,
and helps each other learn in her or his own time and way (Derman Sparks, Lousise, Julie Olsen,
Edwards) as a result, it enables a child to feel nurtured, respected as an individual and thrive in that
environment. I personally believe that inclusionof infants, toddlers, and preschoolers with
disabilities in early care is very important. I believe inclusion... Show more content on

Some schools find it hard to balance inclusion when they are faced with serious behavior issues
join school. Some children might bite, hit, and spit staff and peers, which makes it challenging
to meet a child with disability needs, while providing a safe nurturing learning environment for
the rest of the class. Another challenge I have personally seen is when the school is not
properly equipped, and teachers are not educated/knowledgeable to provide and support children
with disabilities. The current school I work at, unfortunately, is not properly equipped to support
children with disabilities, thought, they don t refuse admission to them. As a result, we are not
properly supporting their needs, other children are not in liberty to share feelings or thoughts of
children with disabilities, and nobody knows how to address with families, the thoughts,
progress, or concerns they have about their child. The proper way to address this challenges is
by providing the adequate knowledge and training to all staff. It is imperative to be educated in
the subject, to properly support children and their families reach their goals, as well as, meet their
individual needs. In addition, I am only hopeful that one day classes like this CD 140, are
mandated to all staff that works with children, regardless of disability or

Cindy Sherman, Simone De Beauvior, And Andy Warhol
Students are required to take Humanities 201 because it teaches us about the modern world and the
themes and issues that are happening in society. However, as time continues, students taking this
same course fifty years from now will not be studying the same material, since it will no longer be
considered modern. Throughout the current contemporary world that was taught this past semester,
many themes and ideas have lead me to sum up the class in one word: diverse. One theme in
particular to expand on the idea equality amongst race and gender. Many artists and writers such as
Cindy Sherman, Robert Mapplethorpe, Simone de Beauvior, and Andy Warholhave expressed this
theme within their works in a way that was both bold and shocking. These... Show more content on

Society fifty years from now would not have been very accepting to homosexual and gender
equalities. Although there is still not a full acceptance of these topics, society has come a very
long way from viewing others with limited perception. There will always be problems of
stereotyping in the world. However, I would say that the perception of our world today has a
more open mind set and has strayed away from the conservative and religious ideas within
society. Many unique and shocking pictures, like the ones from Robert Mapplethorpe and Cindy
Sherman, have become a normal way of art in today s world, which makes this course much
more diverse compared to the works that were seen in pre modern. While many people in the
world still refuse to accept the contemporary views on gender and equality, there are still an
amazing number of people that have accepted to be open to these views and have pushed these
views further towards

The Impact Of Organizational Culture On Enron s...
The tale of Enron presents a unique perspective on success. In the short span of 24 months, Enron
transformed from being the top firm in its industry to one that filed for bankruptcy. The reflection
about how the tides changed in such a short period uncovers many surprising truths. In its glory
days Enronbeamed billion dollar profits each quarter, however this success was all a part of an
elaborate scheme. Behind the veil of smoke and mirrors was a series of deceptive and unethical
accounting practices. For Jeff Skilling and Kenneth Layit was always about outward perception and
to them this revolved around the stock price. If the stock price kept rising, as far as they were
concerned Enron was doing just fine. The case of Enron is the... Show more content on

The company did not consider whether the candidate would be a proper fit in the part of the

for the company. Thus, highlighting the low people and team orientation culture of Enron.
Although Enron rated poorly on people and team orientation, they rated very highly on risk taking,
aggressiveness and outcome orientation. The most salient aspect of Enron s organizational culture
is their risk taking proclivity. Enron throughout the span of 24 months transformed from being the
Forbes most innovative company to a company that was forced to file for bankruptcy and lay off
almost 20,000 employees in part due to the risks they took. The corporation encouraged its
employees to take risks at all costs as long it either improved the balance sheet or could be treated
as a profit. The Darwinian culture at Enron cultivate a fiercely competitive environment. Employees
saw one another as competition that they must beat to earn promotion and lucrative bonus. Due to
this the traders at the company took numerous ill advised risks and eventually gambled the
company s reserves away. The company s emphasis on outcomes regardless of the steps taken
presented a unique conundrum. Per one scholar, If corporate leaders encourage rule breaking and
foster an intimidating, aggressive environment, it is not surprising that the

Real Estate Market Analysis
Ch.1. Real estate space and asset markets.
Space market ( the market for the usage of (or right to use) real property (land and built space);
also referred to as the real estate usage market or rental market. Demand side: individuals,
households and firms that want to use space for either consumption of production purposes. Supply
side: real estate owners who rent space to tenants. 1. Segmentation of space markets.
Both the demand and supply side are location and type specific. Therefore, real estate markets are
highly segmented ( Space markets are local rather than national, and specialized around building

The southeast quadrant links the rate of construction to the total stock of built space available in the
usage market. The line relates the average rate of space construction per year to the total stock of
space that can be indefinitely maintained in the market.
On average over the long run, a certain amount of new construction per year is necessary just to
maintain a given stock of space available in the market.
The 4Q picture depicts a long run steady state equilibrium.
Property prices in the real estate asset markets, along with liquidity and volume of sales
transactions in that market, often appear to go through extended periods of rise and fall, related to
the ups and downs in the space market.
Chapter 6: Real Estate Market Analysis.
Objective:
The goal of market analysis is to characterize (both qualitative and quantitative) the supply and
demand of a specific space market.
6.1General Features.
Practical market analysis needs to be simple and based upon realistic data so that it can be used
quickly and inexpensively. Also, this way it can be easily communicated and understood in
business. Thus, most analysis stems from direct and common sense procedures. There are
different kinds of analysis; whereas some market analysis focuses on specific micro level
decisions, others focus on a broader and more general characterization of a broader market. The
first type focuses mainly on

Comparison Of J. Abrams And Star Trek
I am a sap for movies and television shows that involve action and science fiction. This started
when I was seven years old when I was shown my first episode of Star Trek, The Trouble with
Tribbles , which quickly led to me seeing all of Star Trek, Star Wars, Harry Potter and Lord of
the Rings. These movies have shaped who I am and have instilled in me an instant fondness for
anyone who pays homage to any of these selections. J. J. Abrams is becoming an idol for bringing
both Star Warsand Star Trek to this century. When I saw this film I was stunned by its beauty and
imagination, yet they are not perfect. This leads me to a definite conclusion. Although J. J. Abrams

J. Abrams most recent and most successful film to date which shows all of his strengths
including a fast paced action movie with well chosen actors and several other unique touches.
The first of his great decision was to give this movie a realistic atmosphere and he did this by
abandon[ing] CGI in favor of models and practical effects, and green screens in favor of actual
sets and physical locations. I wanted to feel that thing I d felt when I was a kid watching this
movie, which was that this was actually happening. . . . (Grossman 62 63). This was a well
thought out decision that not only makes it real, but also helps to blend the original three Star
Wars movies seamlessly with this one. As a result of these decisions he was able to . . .

he set the scene 30 years in the future. This allows him to change little things however he wants
to. For instance, he was able to make the . . . Stormtrooper helmets form a seal when you put
them on . . . which did not exist in the original episodes of Star Wars (Grossman 58). He also
modernized the droids, X Wings, Tie Fighters, and hierarchy through chrome plated
Stormtroopers. Another major attribute he had at his disposal was . . . key members of the
original cast on board which also helps to introduce new ones (Grossman 63). For Example in
Super 8 he chose unknown actors which was based on how he felt when he was watching for Star

Aryan Nazi Injustices
Under the Nazi regime in Germany those who did not fit the Aryan ideal experienced enormous
amounts of mistreatment and injustice, for they were were stripped of their rights, harshly
overpowered as a result of Hitler s beliefs and treated unfairly within concentration camps. Due to
Hitler s beliefs, those under the NAZI regime in Germany, who did not fit the Aryanideal,
experienced many forms of injustice as Hitler attempted to create a fully pure society. The NAZI
regime, also restricted many peoples rights, specifically those who did not fit the Aryan ideal and
other people who were considered social outsiders. In addition, many people who did not fit the
Aryan ideal were forced into concentration camps and experienced enormous injustice as a result of
the NAZI regime in Germany. The aforementioned topics all had many significant impacts on the
Aryan race, in particular Hitler s beliefs which lead to many different forms of injustice.
As a result of Hitler s beliefs, those under the NAZI regime in Germany, who did not fit the Aryan
ideal, experienced many forms of injustice which had drastic effects on both the physical and
mental state of the population, in addition to the social aspects of the country. During this time
period, Hitler s main beliefs were centered towards achieving racial purity and the superiority of
the Aryan race. In order to fulfil this goal Hitler spread his beliefs to his army and the public

Essay about How the Media Uses an Ideal Victim in...
In recent years, the subject of crime has become an increasingly important theme of political,
academic, and public debate. In particular, the media today is more focused on victims than it has
ever been before. Through media representations of the ideal victim , this essay will subsequently
show how the media are able to construct and re affirm pre existing traditional ideologies within the
public realm. In effect, this assignment will critically assess the concept of an ideal victimand show
how the media have used this when describing crime. In reference to the media s role, they have
been highlighted for playing a part in maintaining these views by portraying victims in a certain
way according to the newsworthiness of each story... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The term is often related with negative meanings of powerlessness, passivity, and some victims
could be even perceived as inferiors. It is also important to note that when the word victim is
gendered, it is biased towards the female sex. Therefore, assumptions that females are passive and
weak also coincide with the assumptions of victims. The alternative term survivor is sometimes
preferred, particularly by feminists, as it places emphasis on their strength and the severity of the
experience with crime. In addition, groups may also be victims; usually involving a type of hate
crime such as racism or homophobia.
In victimology, there are still many unanswered questions and difficulties to find patterns that
would easily classify victims, because nobody is exempt from becoming a victim. Nevertheless,
some clichГ©d views about victims are embedded in our society. For example, Christie (1986)
describes the idea of the ideal victim, which is, in fact a person who is easily given the status of
being a victim. Ideal victims are perceived as blameless, law abiding, usually female, vulnerable
and worthy of help, sympathy and attention. Walklate (2005) used the fairytale of little red riding
hood to illustrate the ideal victim ; young, innocent, female out doing good deeds only to be
attacked by

The Advantages And Disadvantages Of Field Oriented Control
FIELD ORIENTED CONTROL The main drawback of sinusoidal commutation is that the motor
currents are controlled which are time variant and thus PI controllers have to operate on limited
bandwidth. Hence using field oriented control the currents in a, b, c reference frame are
transformed to d q reference frame. Thus controllers are not subjected from time variant currents
and voltages and limitation of controller frequency response and phase shift on motor speed and
torque is eliminated. Using Field Oriented Control, current control is largely unaffected by speed of
rotation of the motor[6].In the scheme of filed oriented control motor currents and voltages
obtained from the motor are transformed into d q reference frame. Measured currents from three
stator phases these currents which are now in the stator reference frame are converted into two
phase using Clarke transformations which are further converted into the corresponding rotor
reference frame using Park transformation. The resultant current obtained is dc which is easier for
the PI controllers to operate.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Is Guatemala A Developing Country
A developing country is an impoverished country that is seeking to become more advanced
economically and socially. Guatemala is very much so in the position of a developing country. As
one who lives in the United States of America, it is often times hard to understand what this exactly
means. The majority of people born and raised in America will never experience the same situations
that those from a developing country will experience. The cultural lifestyle of Guatemalans is much
different than Americans because of the experiences they observe or participate in each day.
Although Guatemalahas not been successful in the aspects of society or economics, they are in
the process of ameliorating. Guatemala is a particularly large country in South America. The
country s terrain is dominated by mountains with narrow coastal plains, limestone plateaus, and
volcanoes and jungles. The current population of Guatemala is 17,033,253 as of November
2017, according to the latest United Nations estimates (Guatemala Population (LIVE), 2017).
The capital of the country is Guatemala City. For the past years, the politicians have been
extremely corrupt. In 2016, Jimmy Morales had won the Guatemalan election to become the
new president. His campaign slogan was neither corrupt not a thief . Because the people of
Guatemala were beyond ready for a change in leadership, he won by a landslide. At the start of his
term, people loved him and he seemed to be a great guy. He was a former comedian

United States Debt to GDP ratio In the last year the United States has painfully reached the net
public debt to GDP ratio of 100 percent. This would be the federal government s accumulated
debt that is equal or has actually surpassed the United States Gross Domestic Product in 2010.
After the debt ceiling limit was passed, the Treasury borrowed $238 billion in 2010. This brought
public debt to $14.58 trillion dollars, slightly higher than the United States GDP in 2010, which

The analysis of Germany, past their stated GDP and their stated debt to GDP ratio is really a
study of the EU/ECB themselves to determine the size and the liabilities that are born by their
largest economic member so that we can fully assess the financial condition of Germany.
Historically, from 1995 until 2011, Germany Government Debt to GDP averaged 65.3 Percent
reaching an all time high of 83.0 Percent in December of 2010 and a record low of 55.6 Percent
in December of 1995. A chart with historical data for Germany Government Debt to GDP is on
page 5. When compared to the United States, Germany by far has a lower debt to GDP ratio.
One reason alone is that Germany is only the size of Oregon, therefore, the population is
nowhere near that of the United States. Germany which has the third largest economy in the
world, currently owes around 65% of their GDP, whereas the United States is at 100 percent. Some
facts why the United States has a higher Debt to GDP ratio are: public debt as percent of GDP the
U.S. has 9.4% larger gross debt as expressed in % of GDP, Government Surplus/Deficit as percent
of GDP USA has 5.1percent greater deficit as expressed in percent of GDP, GDP Growth Rate
USA GDP is growing 0.7percent more over a 10 year period and GDP by Sector the U.S. has a
slightly more industry based economy

Incarnations Of The Human Evolution Of Homosapien Culture
Introduction
Background
Historical alternations of the human evolution are depicted as an enhancement of a variety of
aspects that assist the homosapien culture, health and lifestyle. Once these enhancements are
implicated the primitive instincts that humans originally owned, now is slowly diminishing to a
new technological and scientific approach. In more forms than one, medicine has been documented
and practiced from periods of time that date back to prehistorical stages. Medicine since then has
revolutionized to a further scientific based practice. A majority of society depends on the high
technological medicine to assist in their well being. Cancer is a destructive disease that slowly
destroys its occupant and extremely difficult to cure. Cancer is broken down into sub type
categories; for example: testicular, breast, lung, bowel and brain. The treatments for cancer have
improved immensely over the period of the 21st century.

The Theory Of Perception Of The Existence Of God
In Principles of Human Knowledge, Berkeley posits the doctrine of idealism largely in response to
the theory of perception connected to representationalism. While the representationalist would
agree that only sensory ideas can be immediately perceived, Berkeley s view dramatically differs
from representationalism in that he denies the existence of material objects and, consequently, the
causal role they are presumed to hold in producing sensations (Heide 15 Sept). Berkeley takes this
immaterialist position to undoubtedly prove the existence of God while attributing to him a
properly significant causal relationship to sensible ideas. It will be appropriate to assume that
immaterialism is true, as his argument for God s role in the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

An idea is dependent on the mind of the perceiver, meaning that all components of that idea must
be perceivable by nature. The idea, the perceived, is distinct from the perceiver in that there is no
power or agency existing in it. Since it is impossible for an idea to do anything, or, strictly
speaking, to be the cause of anything: neither can it be the resemblance or pattern of any active
being (34; sec. 25). Berkeley s argument here is simple, yet highly intuitive. It makes little sense to
claim that something mind dependent could contain anything, like agency, that could escape the
perception of the mind! If there was agency in an idea, it would be a clearly perceivable aspect of
it, and surely ideas cannot do anything and perform actions, being fundamentally different than
minds.
Evidently something causes sensations, as Berkeley points out they are constantly appearing,
altering and ceasing to be. If physical objects are nonexistent, and ideas cannot be causally
active, he insists that incorporeal active substance or spirit is all that remains (35; sec. 26). Spirit
is defined as unified, possessing two powers: the understanding and the will, the first which
perceives ideas while the second produces and otherwise operates about them (35; sec. 27).
Berkeley examines his own spirit as the next contender for the cause of his sensible ideas, rejecting
this proposal on the basis that he does not bring about

The Case Of Japan With Saigo Takamori
The world is full of government, each one with people who believe that it should be changed in
order to progress. This is the case of Japan with Saigo Takamori in 1877and Nazi Germany with
Claus von Stauffenberg in 1944. Both were respectable warriors who believed that the current
government was damaging their country s honor and a transformation was needed, and because of
this they decided to betray their countries. The difference between this to men comes to the origin
of why they betrayed their country, the society of the time, who they were against, and the
aftermath of their actions. When such factors are taken into consideration, Claus von Stauffenberg s
actions of disloyalty for his government for the greater good should be held in higher regard in
public memory. Japan in at the end of the nineteenth century was going through a change in
government. The old system, the shogunate, had been toppled by a group of intellectual, Saigo
included, and the power returned to the Emperor. Japan s new government was becoming starting
to go through a process of westernization, and the samurais were paying the price. In 1877 samurai
stipends were eliminated and the carrying of weapons prohibited. Saigo believed that the samurai
class represented the epitome of honor and self valor, so he decided to confront the government
over their actions and on September 24, 1887 he died in battle. Honor and courage were very
important for Saigo, because of this he believed that a true warrior

Criticism Of Praise Praise
Praise is an action that parents, teachers, and adults overly use when they desire an action from
students and children. Most of the time, adults say phrases such as Good Job or Fantastic to boost
the moral of students or children. But praise doesn t always lead to positive growth of an
individual in the long run. There is, however, a stronger alternative to praisethat many 21st century
Western societies haven t quite accepted. This is known as criticism. We see criticism everywhere
in our daily lives; from the workplace, to sporting events and competitions, and even in schools
across America. It s a lot stronger than praise because it provides students with a basis of
comparison, and truth and honesty. Therefore, criticism has a betterlong term effect on feedback
and growth and should be balanced with praise because it allows students to learn from previous
mistakes or issues, forcing them to make a positive change about themselves that could potentially
help in the future. There are many problems that appear with the use of general praise on its own.
For one, praise feeds into the ego of a student, forcing them into a lazy mindset from the overflow
of approval. Carol Dweck, a theorist of human motivation, believes that praising traits feed the
belief that talent is fixed, which makes kids less willing to take on new challenges that might
expose them as less naturally able (Kamenetz). With praise, the child will be less determined to
take risks and complete

Bna Thesis
BNA practice intro paragraph
The British North America Act (BNA) is known as The Act that created Canada. In this thesis
statement I will thoroughly explain the Manifest Destiny, and how colonists feared the United
States. In 1864 the BNA Act was drafted by the Quebec Conference on Canadian confederation.
Counter argument
The Manifest Destiny showed the hatred of the United States (US) for every other terrain that was
not their own. The US used the 19th century period of American Expansion that was destined to
stretch from coast to coast. The preowned way of the attitude prevalent fired up disasters, War with
Mexico broke out and harsh removal of the Native Americans. O Sullivan declared, Our manifest
destiny to overspread the continent allotted by Providence for the free development of our yearly
multiplying millions. This recitation guided many Republican supporters. Manifest destiny is an
extensively held faith mainly by the United States that it was their own found destiny to expand and
own the territory of North America.
My argument
The Manifest Destiny was superior for the Americans, paved the way for Americans to share

Major Challenges of Organizational Management
MAJOR CHALLENGES OF ORGANIZATIONAL MANAGEMENT
There are a number of differences between FMC s Aberdeen and Green River, the two facilities
of discussion. One may assume, therefore, that managerial styles, business practices, and other
aspects of business and the employees involved, would be very different from one another. On the
other hand, it is quite possible to use very similar styles of doing business and managing a
company, despite differences in the company, as a good style of managing, and good practices
would assist any business in succeeding. Management, employees and productivity being the main
focus s at hand, one may first want to review these differences between the two facilities. To begin
with, the facility in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Good communication between all management levels and employees is also necessary in keeping
any business running efficiently. Again, seeing as how the Aberdeen facility has already
established these practices, and has them running smoothly, they need only to maintain them and
increase innovation with the times.
If I were to use an analogy to describe these two types of managerial styles, I would state that the
original style of managing was like a pyramid, and this new style of managing was a linked
chain. The pyramid is dependent on all of its members, but there is a definite sense of
superiority, as the higher management levels shrink down in numbers, but tower over all else.
This pyramid, upon producing positive results, is viewed by others as having produced them due
to the excellence of the peak of the pyramid, with very little or no recognition at the bottom of
said pyramid. The linked chain on the other hand, though still managed with upper and lower
levels, reacts more as a team, giving those involved more recognition for their accomplishments.
People who are recognized as such, and appreciated for their individual strengths, may be more
likely to utilize these strengths and feel that they are a part of the company, rather than a pawn of
the company. There is something very positive to be said for this type of thinking, if everyone on
the Earth felt

Jesuits Conversion
Jesuits and their Methods of Conversion The first Catholic missionaries, also know as Jesuits,
came to New France in 1634 to spread Christianity and European values. In 1639, the Jesuits
established Sainte Marie aux Hurons by the St. Lawrence River, creating a central base for all
missionary work. By 1672, there had been over 16,000 baptisms of the native population in New
France. Father Jean de BrГ©beuf wrote about the Huron confederacy extensively. These writings
included his thoughts on how to convert the Huron according to their traits and virtues, and how
both groups found common ground within both of their different spiritualities. This paper will
examine how the Jesuits feelings of superiority over the Huron people led to conversion... Show

In addition to the drought, sickness and death began to plague the Hurons, with the increasing death
toll having no end in sight. This made many start casting doubts on the recent arrival of the Jesuits.
Nevertheless, their shaman s prayers and rituals seemed to be useless against this new plague, and
many became desperate for any alternatives. De BrГ©beuf blamed the Huron people and their sins,
stating their lust and gluttony, among other things, were causing the drought and sickness. He
stated that in order for their sins to be cleansed, they must participate in novena, a nine day
procession, to show God the their repentance. The novena was a promise to to the Huron; once they
had accepted Christianity, their sins would be washed away, bringing rain and good health for all in
Huronia. On the final day of the procession, rain finally came. This caused many of the Huron, who
had not already done so, to convert to Christianity. This event made the Jesuits the most powerful
and covered shamans within the Huron people. Missionaries spread across the area, bringing
Christianity throughout Huronia and baptizing many in the confederacy. In 1635, the Huron
invited the Jesuits to engage in the Huron Feast of the Dead, which was an important learning
opportunity for the Jesuits. The missionaries wanted to use this event to evaluate how they could
incorporate Christianity into the Huron tradition; the Feast could be admired, participated in, and
built upon, to make up Huron Christianity. A mixture of both the Huron culture and spirituality and
European Catholicism, Huron Christianity was the Jesuits way of making the converting process of
the Hurons easier. Instead of trying to bully their way through with ideas that the Huron people
would never completely comprehend or want to embrace, the Jesuits integrated Huron traditions,
like the Feast of the Dead, to match stories and

Symbolism In The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo
November TDA
On the outer layer The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo is a shocking mystery, but on an underground
level, the book is almost an investigation of the brutal, inhuman abuse of different women in
Sweden. Also the book is about the corrupt viewpoints and actions of the antagonists. They are not
even considering concentrating on how women deserve to be treated as equals. This theme is
illustrated in chapters 11 13 when Salander gets savagely raped. Larsson uses motifs, different
themes, and symbolism to create the beautifully written, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. In The

Salander, the protagonist who exploits technology, uses computers to protect herself and her
friends. She uses computers to find out information that will increase her chances to have a
successful career and she uses computers to satisfy her ability to financially support herself. On a
more essential note, all throughout the novel, computers deliver the ability to level the playing
field of different people s power. By using computers Salander figures out a way to destroy both
Bjurman and Wennerstroöms reputation. Salander also gives Blomkvist the power to destroy
anyone who he dislikes and anyone who hurt him in the past. The authors symbolism of computers
illustrates her theme by saying, In Armanskys eyes, Salander was (...) the most able investigator he

women because Harriet and Janne (women) are fighting two men (violence) by using computers.
Luckily, this time, women won the fight. Later in the novel, Millennium s staff blatently disproves
letting Janne Dahlmann and Salander to use unprotected computers or to email. Unfortunately that
leaves their strategy fruitless because they no longer have the ability to go through with their plans
to completely obliterate the men that mentally and physically left bruises on them. In all accounts,
computers symbolize power, knowledge and the ability not just to live but to thrive. Symbolizing

Essay Cloning Madness
Cloning Madness
Cloning, a topic that has recently caused mayhem all over the world, is possible, but will it be here
to stay? The astonishing news that scientists had cloned a sheep a couple of years ago sent people
into panic at the thought that humans might be next. Cloning is a radical challenge to the most
fundamental laws of biology, so it s not unreasonable to be concerned that it might threaten human
society and dignity (Macklin 64). Since most of the opposition is coming from the pure disgust of
actually being able to clone species, it makes it difficult for people to get away from the emotional
side of the issue and analyze the major implications cloning would have for society. To better

Society should not rush to make up its mind about cloning; it should wait and see if the good
outweighs the bad. It is obvious that cloning raises many serious issues that will be hotly debated
all over the world.
Scientists Urge Senators Not to Rush to Ban Human Cloning by Gina Kolata, is another interesting
article that lets us see what the politicians are doing concerning the cloning issue. The article
discusses how scientists and ethicists urged congress not to ban research on the cloning of human
beings because society might rush to the wrong decision.
There is no immediate crisis...since...methods...would need to be made more efficient before they
could be tried on humans. Cloning research holds glittering promises for medicine, and many
scientists fear that a hastily enacted ban might inadvertently halt research that could cure disease
and save lives. ...Society should not lose the opportunity to develop new treatments based on
cloning techniques. (Kolata)
The scientists in this article bring up many good points. This article made me wonder, would
society be protecting itself from future cures to disease, as well as the possibility of many lives
being saved? I agree with the scientists in saying that we should wait until enough evidence is
available to see if cloning will be beneficial or detrimental in our society.

Taking a Look at Ellen Degenres
Ellen DeGeneres, beloved media icon and entertainment pioneer, have reached deep into the
audiences hearts since her first comedy stand up appearances in the eighties through her works on
television today. While many Americans now know DeGeneres for her syndicated talk show, The
Ellen DeGeneres Show, and her countless awards, such as the Emmy Awards, American Comedy

and off screen, Ellen DeGeneresplays a vital role in various humanitarian efforts and in a civil right
movement throughout the course of her career.
One issue that Ellen DeGeneres fights against is adolescence bullying cases in America. In the past
years, DeGeneres and her show have partnered with Trevor Project and Pacer Center to raise
funding and awareness for the anti bullying movement in the United States. DeGeneres even
launched the PSA titled Be Kind in her effort to spread awareness. Although she might just be one
of many advocators against bullying, her popularity greatly contributed to the spread of the
movement. With Ellen DeGeneres s effort, America is one step closer to eradicating bullying.
During national crisis, Ellen DeGeneres reaches out to many Americans to comfort and relieve

The Oversexualization Of Women In Japanese Anime And Manga
WMST/PHIL 346
The Oversexualizing of
Women in Japanese Anime and Manga The Japanese are a very creative culture which have
produced several fantastic science fiction movies such as Gojira, which was an allegory for the use
of atomic bombs in war to the animated cartoons, known as anime in America, like Space Battleship
Yamato which portrayed the story of all the nations of the planet Earth joining forces to defeat an
alien invasion. Yamato and other animelike Mach A Go Go had female characters in the shows that
were both allies and sometimes love interest to the main characters, but still were depicted as
strong female role models and were drawn with normal features and body types. However, as
time has passed, women in anime have been more and more sexualized and this has had an
effect on how young people look at Japanese culture and women in particular. In this paper, the
effects of this practice will be observed. With the anime boom of the last few years, the way
women have been portrayed in these animated cartoons has been more and more sexualized.
Shows such as Fairy Tale depict the female leads as scantily clad fighters with rather large breast.
Even the youngest girl on the show that is around the age of 11 to 12 is depicted with larger than
normal breast. One of the main reasons for this is the rather strong patriarchal view of women in
Japan that is still there to this day. The article titled A Look at Japanese Feminism and Japanese

The Great Wave Book Review
The Great Wave by Christopher Benfey shows a glimpse of Old Japan and its fascinating

U.S. and Japan by looking at topics like cultural and social aspects faced by both countries.
Towards the latter half of the book, Benfey really keys into aspects like Jiujutsu and martial arts
along with forms of Japanese art and the idea of expressing ones spirit. The first portion of the
latter half of the book discusses a key question in identifying who is Lafcadio Hearn? The first
idea that comes to mind after reading about Hearn is that he is old fashioned. He liked the
crumbling wooden houses, the Spanish relics and French architecture (Pg. 214). From how I
understood reading about Mr. Hearn is that he is a very old fashioned man who loves the old

Voter Suppression And Its Effects On African Americans
Wonder who s been a victim of voter suppression? Voter suppression has been a problem since
the act of voting came into play. Politicians have schemed since the very beginning to get their

Sometimes what we see and what we hear are not the truth. With the voter literacy test and laws
that dis proportionally affect African Americans it s only human nature to be discouraged. What
is going on in society isn t right to us citizens who do up ide by the law. Even with it being un
lawful, Voter suppression is still practiced because some politicians are crooked and the voter
literacy test and laws that disproportionately affect African Americans are a prime example. The
voter literacy occurred when blacks in the south were going through hard times. The literacy test
supposedly applicable to both white and black prospective voters who couldn t prove a certain
level of education, but in actuality disproportionately administered to black voters was a classic
example of one of these barriers ( Onion). The test was designed so the person grading the test

The complexity and memory requirements of the algorithm are in the order of

The Lack Of Affordable Housing
The lack of affordable housing in the United States is a problem that doesn t receive nearly the
attention that it necessitates. This absence of affordable housing became especially prevalent
following World War II when suburbanization spread across the country like wildfire. Although the
sheer number of homes increased, Jim Crow segregation influenced housing policy, meaning that
white institutions prevented blacks from obtaining the mortgages needed to afford such homes.
Therefore, rather than accept subprime loans, which often result in foreclosure, many black people
have been pigeonholed into paying exorbitant rates for dilapidated rental properties located in inner
cities, thereby creating the affordable housingproblem. Although the situation seems bleak, with
careful planning and execution, we can solve the affordable housing problem. Specifically, my
proposal involves the following two components: the government must first revise and draft three
forms of legislation that create strict yet concise standards that landlords must follow, and then
allocate federal funding to health and wellness programs within poor communities. By examining
the contributing societal factors to the lack of affordable housing in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and
then implementing the proposal mentioned above, one could potentially solve the affordable
housing problem there and transpose the plan to other impoverished cities across the country.

My Passion For Cooking Essay
I ve always had a passion for cooking. When I was a little girl I loved to cook and enjoyed learning
about all sort of cuisines. Today, I am still in the kitchen and every chance I get, I cook. Some days
it isn t even fancy or a hard recipe. Some days it s a classic, but something that I ve created. Cooking
is my time to be me. It s the art form I pride myself at being good at and I don t have to try (unlike
drawing...not so good at that!). Like a child getting a new toy, I get excited when I discover new
foods and ingredients. My mind feels at home when it s in the process of creating in the kitchen.
It s fun getting the ingredients, piling them all on the counter, then chopping, stirring, adding a
pinch of this and a splash of that. Then I have to wait for everything to cook. Finally the reward
of my creativity is taken out of the oven and placed on a plate. The creative work I ve done is fully
realized when I can share my work with others.
Cooking is pure joy and fun for me. I cook as a way to ground myself, to think clearly and to relax
for a change. I enjoy researching ingredients I ve never heard of before, what pairs best with this
spice or that vegetable. When someone strikes up a conversation with me about cooking, I could
go on for hours, so be prepared! Through cuts, burns, failed recipes, forgotten ingredients, I still
find joy in the art of cooking. Losing this passion would surely be like losing myself.

My Adulthood Memories And Memories Of A Childhood Home
Places are more than less often full of memories. Rooms have narratives that can be told through the
items and furniture they contain. These narratives are often overlooked and not thought about,
especially in places where one does not want to spend a particularly large amount of time. Rooms
speak, even though we often don t want to listen, or don t want to know. Basements are often like
this, full of broken thing and memories, knee deep castaways, childhood toys and holiday lights.
The basementin my childhood home is this way, completely divided into then and now; simply,
entirely, depressing. This room is split into two distinct halves. The stairs are creaky and off
white, stained grey and black from soda spills, muddy shoes, snow slush and dirty dog feet.
Clumps of dog hair sit in the corners of each step, wrapped up into dust balls. At the bottom, to
the immediate left, is where a playroom used to be. There are drawings and old bits of paper
stuck up on the walls, hinting as to what this space used to contain. Now, a large, professional
grade ping pong table sits in the middle of the room. Once loved, the table is now stacked high
with towels and laundry. On the wallparallel to the length of the table is a child s growth chart,

Being A Dove Is An Omen Of Evil
Everyone is born with wings. There s never been someone who hasn t been born with them. Only

Peggy McIntosh s White Privilege And Male Privilege Essay
Privileges are things that a person receives that gives them an advantage over most people
(Merriam Webster). These are benefits that only certain people receive for being in a certain
group or discourse. Peggy McIntosh, director of the Wellesley College Center for Research on
Women, wrote White Privilege and Male Privilege and states I think whites are carefully taught
not to recognize white privileges, as males are taught not to recognize male privilege (605). She
argues that whites and males receive certain privileges, yet they do not even notice them. This
shows that different races and women are still put at a disadvantage, but the people who receive
the benefits are blind to the problem. Many people will argue that she is correct... Show more

They also shelter it by keeping it a secret from their own so they never see it as an advantage.
Shannon Sullivan wrote the book Revealing Whiteness: The Unconscious Habits of Racial
Privilege . She does agree with McIntosh that whites do in fact receive these hidden privileges. In
her book she wrote Blithely wrapped up in a white world, white people often do not see their own
ignorance and cannot be faulted for not addressing it... (18). Sullivan explains that white people
do not realize that they are receiving these certain benefits for just being white. They also can t
fix this problem until they realize that they are privileged. The privileges that they receive are
mainly social benefits, which probably why they are hard to see. McIntosh give an example by
saying, I can go shopping alone most of the time, pretty well assured that I will not be followed
or harassed (607). This is one of the many over looked privileges that people don t seem to
notice. In the book White Teachers/Diverse Classrooms , written by Landsman, Julie, and Lewis,
they also support this idea by giving an example of this certain privilege not applying to a person
of color, even to the president of Brown University, Ruth Simmons. Simmons was followed and
question as she walk the aisles of a major department store (11). Despite the fact that she was
president of Brown University, she was stilled harassed at clothing store

WHAT CAUSES A TORNADO AND THE EFFECT THEY HAVE
ABSTRACT
Reading this paper will give you a better understanding of what causes a tornado and the shear
destructive power of tornadoes. It will also touch on some of the safety precaution involved in a
tornado from sirens to getting to safety. So what does cause a tornado and the effect they have?

WHAT CAUSES A TORNADO AND THE EFFECT THEY HAVE
First the public is taught to recognize the environmental clues such as dark, often greenish sky,
wall clouds, large hail, and loud roaring sound like a train. The National Weather Service
broadcasts watches and warnings for tornadoes as well as for thunderstorms. The civil defense
sirens are sounded at night in conjuction with the warnings when everyone is asleep because they
may not aware of the watches or warnings, if the town has them.
Some other effects of these monsters are that people loose their houses and properties and for some
without insurance it is total devastation. There are many effects due to tornadoes and way too
many to go into on this short paper.
WHAT CAUSES A TORNADO AND THE EFFECT THEY HAVE
CONCLUSION
The effects of tornadoes are slight to major destruction and the cost can be very high up to the
loss of life. Prepare yourself, have a plan to escape to safety. If you are in a tornado prone area
then you might want to get a weather radio that has a siren to warn of impending activity.

George Washington Code Of Honor Essay
George Washington towered over men with decorum. Men followed him, not out of fear but out of
respect and admiration. Washington was not a loquacious orator, but his silence spoke volumes.
When he spoke, briefly but authoritatively, others listened. They knew he meant what he said
because of his code of honor both on and off the battlefield. It was this code of honor that made
him a successful general and an even more successful President of the United States.
On February 22, 1732 (February 11, 1732 in the British defective calendar ), George Washington
inconspicuously entered the world in Westmoreland County, Virginia (Alden 2). Not part of the
British elite, his ancestors settled in the colonies from Britain and prospered with farming and
tobacco plantations. George Washington was just eleven years old when his father died. He
received only local and brief schooling... [and became fascinated with] a set of Rules of Civility
and Decent Behavior (Alden 5) diligently writing down 110 of those rules which would form his
code of conduct and civility. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

political event (Larson 247). In his Farewell Address in 1796, after serving two terms, he denounced
partisanship, embraced economic nationalism, and discouraged permanent foreign alliances
(Larson 301). His admonition against partisanship were not heeded; consequently, he is the only
nonpartisan President of the United States. His advice resonates today as the divisiveness of the

The Pros And Cons Of Gun Laws
In the United States, the gun laws need to be tightened, the laws that are in place now are too
loose. If the United States tighten the gun laws we could cut down on deaths. It would also cut
down on people acquiring firearms illegally like through families and friends, and legally but in
unsafe ways like the Charleston Loophole. If the United Statespasses tighter gunlaws the deaths
would decrease and the United States will be a bit of a nicer place.
The Charleston Loophole is a big example of the reason the United States needs tighter Gun
Laws. From the years 2010 through 2016, the loophole allowed about 23,000 guns to be sold to
dangerous people (source 1). To buy a gun you had to go through a three business day
background check. If that check could not be completed within the three business day time
period, by federal law the stores were allowed to sell people the guns without the background
check completed. If there was a larger time period for the background check the problem of
dangerous people getting firearms, would diminish. All the background checks that have been
completed have blocked more than two million dangerous people from getting firearms (also
source 1). Also, most likely saved many lives which could have been taken if the people whose
background checks were blocked.
Another reason we should place tighter gun laws is that of how easy it is to acquire a gun. An
article from the New York Times reviews a documentary called The New Radical . That
documentary talked about a person named Cody Wilson, who released the first known 3D
printer plans to create a gun. He named the gun The Liberator, and it is a single shot pistol made
in a 3D printer. His gun plans had people questioning the boundaries of the 2nd amendment. Most
other people would use the easier way like Daniel Webster said: When criminals get guns, they
get them from friends, family, or from an underground market source. (source 1 article 2)
Meaning that criminals and dangerous people could have a friend who is not convicted of a
crime or clean buy the gun they use to kill or hurt a lot of people. This just shows how easy it is to
obtain a working gun or gun substitute. The people who disagree with the statement We should

If Syed Does Not Kill Lee Essay
If Syed is indeed not guilty of murdering Lee, then it is very much possible for him to have
difficulty recalling his memories on that exact time on that exact day of the incident. From what I
heard from Syed s statements, he was able to easily recall his memories the early morning when
he was concerned of his friend, Jay, not giving his friend, Stef, a gift for her birthday on January
13th. We learned in psychologythat we most remember events that are significant, happy, and
terrifying. Syed easily recalled the memory of him and Jay discussing about the gifts because of

Even I can t remember what I was doing on that exact time yesterday or the day before that and

having great significance. My point is, if Syed did not kill Lee then it is perfectly normal for
him to not recall any memories of that exact time of that day. There was nothing significant
about what he said he was doing after school. His afternoon from what he described seem
mundane and showed n significance. The ones who can remember seems to be his classmates
and all of their statements connect. He was at the library checking his email during that time of
the day. Even the vendor by the gym where Lee regularly buys her snack dismissed the
accusation that Syed was with her in her car in that time period. I am no detective nor a
professional but someone either Jay or Syed is lying. And I think it s Jay who is lying. Syed
may not be able to recall a time period but Jay s statement seems to be inconsistent. And the
whole trial was about he said she said. There was no tangible evidence of the crime scene that can
point to anyone. The State s case was purely derived from the possible motive of a heartbroken,

Political Leadership And The President Of The United...
Introduction There is a mind boggling question that has been floating around the American
people here lately. And the question is, What are the qualifications to construct a good political
leader? When you think about this, other careers such as law enforcement, health professionals,
educators, and even city transit drivers all have a more clear cut job depiction on how to be
successful in that career, but when it comes to the criteria for political leadership, one will find a
vague description on how and what to do, and the various loop holes in certain areas in politics.
So this creates an even more challenging task for people to define if a political leader is good or
bad; and could possibly create a divide across the nation. I personally feel that it would be a
phenomenal notion to observe Mr. Barack Hussein Obama II, our 44th President of The United
Statesof America, without having any biased views or opinions, to analyze the pros and cons of
his 2 terms as our political leader and commander in Chief. I would say that he is a strong
transformational leader hands down just by assessing his years in congress and his 2 terms as
president. I can personally say that because I have a lot of areas under his leadership that I agree
with, and there some other areas that I do not agree with when viewing some of his viewpoints.
One accomplishment has gone unnoticed but is commendable. That s Obama s flawless personal
record. President Barack Obamahas served longer than any

Arms Control (Nuclear Disarmament)
Arms Control (Nuclear Disarmament) Arms control refers to any international limitation or
regulation where developing, testing, producing, deploying, or even using weapons is concerned
on the basis that it is inevitable for some national military establishments to continue existing. This
concept points to some type of collaboration between states that are antagonistic or competitive in
general when it comes to military policy, in a bid to lower the chances of war and in the event of
such, to limit its damage (Jones 4). From a broader perspective, arms control is a product of
historical state practices involving disarmament that has seen many successes and challenges since

Water is an endless cycle that repeats itself but doesn t necessarily remain drinkable. Rain feeds
vegetation, evaporation occurs, and then returns to rivers, streams, and lakes and may seep into
rocks and caves underground through limestone and into aquifers. It may take many years before
it reaches the surface. Water is a valuable resource that people tend to mishandle and take for
granted. Explorers have dove into the paths underground to trace paths of water that flow deep
under homes, streets, cities, and pastures only to surface a dirty and contaminated pond. Inside

  • 2. The Importance of Non-Verbal Communication Introduction Non verbal communication has been a major factor contributing towards our day to day lives. In terms of design and workplace as well as cultural variations non verbal communication plays an important role in these places. It includes the usage of the human s subconscious mind to construct a series of facial expressions, hand gestures as well as the usage of the human s vocal tones which indeed causes a form of effective communication if used in the right manner. For example, when parents use non verbal communication to infant children who are not yet familiar with verbal communication itself when effective this might create a form of assurance to those infants who may in turn respond to the message in a much positive manner. ... Non verbal communication is classified into three languages sign, action, and object languages. (Wang,2009) And these languages can cause a greater effect on interpersonal if utilized in both ways. The zoning of individuals also do affect the form of interpersonal communication used for example intimate, personal, social and public zones. According to Wang s research the nearer the person the more open the person is in terms of communication such as his ability to transfer secret messages are much improved if he s close to another individual or a group of people than of he s on a much longer distance. • 3. The Dangers Of Inclusion In The Classroom What is inclusion? Inclusion is part of a much larger picture then just placement in regular class within school. It is being included in life and participating using one s abilities in day to day activities as a member of the community (Colleen, F. Tomko). By providing the opportunity to children to learn and experience the sense of community that says, Here everybody belongs, plays, and helps each other learn in her or his own time and way (Derman Sparks, Lousise, Julie Olsen, Edwards) as a result, it enables a child to feel nurtured, respected as an individual and thrive in that environment. I personally believe that inclusionof infants, toddlers, and preschoolers with disabilities in early care is very important. I believe inclusion... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Some schools find it hard to balance inclusion when they are faced with serious behavior issues join school. Some children might bite, hit, and spit staff and peers, which makes it challenging to meet a child with disability needs, while providing a safe nurturing learning environment for the rest of the class. Another challenge I have personally seen is when the school is not properly equipped, and teachers are not educated/knowledgeable to provide and support children with disabilities. The current school I work at, unfortunately, is not properly equipped to support children with disabilities, thought, they don t refuse admission to them. As a result, we are not properly supporting their needs, other children are not in liberty to share feelings or thoughts of children with disabilities, and nobody knows how to address with families, the thoughts, progress, or concerns they have about their child. The proper way to address this challenges is by providing the adequate knowledge and training to all staff. It is imperative to be educated in the subject, to properly support children and their families reach their goals, as well as, meet their individual needs. In addition, I am only hopeful that one day classes like this CD 140, are mandated to all staff that works with children, regardless of disability or ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Cindy Sherman, Simone De Beauvior, And Andy Warhol Students are required to take Humanities 201 because it teaches us about the modern world and the themes and issues that are happening in society. However, as time continues, students taking this same course fifty years from now will not be studying the same material, since it will no longer be considered modern. Throughout the current contemporary world that was taught this past semester, many themes and ideas have lead me to sum up the class in one word: diverse. One theme in particular to expand on the idea equality amongst race and gender. Many artists and writers such as Cindy Sherman, Robert Mapplethorpe, Simone de Beauvior, and Andy Warholhave expressed this theme within their works in a way that was both bold and shocking. These... Although there is still not a full acceptance of these topics, society has come a very long way from viewing others with limited perception. There will always be problems of stereotyping in the world. However, I would say that the perception of our world today has a more open mind set and has strayed away from the conservative and religious ideas within society. Many unique and shocking pictures, like the ones from Robert Mapplethorpe and Cindy Sherman, have become a normal way of art in today s world, which makes this course much more diverse compared to the works that were seen in pre modern. While many people in the world still refuse to accept the contemporary views on gender and equality, there are still an amazing number of people that have accepted to be open to these views and have pushed these views further towards ... • 5. The Impact Of Organizational Culture On Enron s... The tale of Enron presents a unique perspective on success. In the short span of 24 months, Enron transformed from being the top firm in its industry to one that filed for bankruptcy. The reflection about how the tides changed in such a short period uncovers many surprising truths. In its glory days Enronbeamed billion dollar profits each quarter, however this success was all a part of an elaborate scheme. Behind the veil of smoke and mirrors was a series of deceptive and unethical accounting practices. For Jeff Skilling and Kenneth Layit was always about outward perception and to them this revolved around the stock price. Although Enron rated poorly on people and team orientation, they rated very highly on risk taking, aggressiveness and outcome orientation. The most salient aspect of Enron s organizational culture is their risk taking proclivity. Enron throughout the span of 24 months transformed from being the Forbes most innovative company to a company that was forced to file for bankruptcy and lay off almost 20,000 employees in part due to the risks they took. The corporation encouraged its employees to take risks at all costs as long it either improved the balance sheet or could be treated as a profit. The Darwinian culture at Enron cultivate a fiercely competitive environment. Employees saw one another as competition that they must beat to earn promotion and lucrative bonus. Due to this the traders at the company took numerous ill advised risks and eventually gambled the company s reserves away. The company s emphasis on outcomes regardless of the steps taken presented a unique conundrum. This started when I was seven years old when I was shown my first episode of Star Trek, The Trouble with Tribbles , which quickly led to me seeing all of Star Trek, Star Wars, Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings. These movies have shaped who I am and have instilled in me an instant fondness for anyone who pays homage to any of these selections. J. J. I wanted to feel that thing I d felt when I was a kid watching this movie, which was that this was actually happening. . . . (Grossman 62 63). It is also important to note that when the word victim is gendered, it is biased towards the female sex. The alternative term survivor is sometimes preferred, particularly by feminists, as it places emphasis on their strength and the severity of the experience with crime. In addition, groups may also be victims; usually involving a type of hate crime such as racism or homophobia. In victimology, there are still many unanswered questions and difficulties to find patterns that would easily classify victims, because nobody is exempt from becoming a victim. The Theory Of Perception Of The Existence Of God In Principles of Human Knowledge, Berkeley posits the doctrine of idealism largely in response to the theory of perception connected to representationalism. While the representationalist would agree that only sensory ideas can be immediately perceived, Berkeley s view dramatically differs from representationalism in that he denies the existence of material objects and, consequently, the causal role they are presumed to hold in producing sensations (Heide 15 Sept). Berkeley takes this immaterialist position to undoubtedly prove the existence of God while attributing to him a properly significant causal relationship to sensible ideas. It will be appropriate to assume that immaterialism is true, as his argument for God s role in the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... An idea is dependent on the mind of the perceiver, meaning that all components of that idea must be perceivable by nature. The idea, the perceived, is distinct from the perceiver in that there is no power or agency existing in it. Since it is impossible for an idea to do anything, or, strictly speaking, to be the cause of anything: neither can it be the resemblance or pattern of any active being (34; sec. 25). Berkeley s argument here is simple, yet highly intuitive. It makes little sense to claim that something mind dependent could contain anything, like agency, that could escape the perception of the mind! If there was agency in an idea, it would be a clearly perceivable aspect of it, and surely ideas cannot do anything and perform actions, being fundamentally different than minds. Evidently something causes sensations, as Berkeley points out they are constantly appearing, altering and ceasing to be. If physical objects are nonexistent, and ideas cannot be causally active, he insists that incorporeal active substance or spirit is all that remains (35; sec. 26). Spirit is defined as unified, possessing two powers: the understanding and the will, the first which perceives ideas while the second produces and otherwise operates about them (35; sec. 27). This is the case of Japan with Saigo Takamori in 1877and Nazi Germany with Claus von Stauffenberg in 1944. Both were respectable warriors who believed that the current government was damaging their country s honor and a transformation was needed, and because of this they decided to betray their countries. The difference between this to men comes to the origin of why they betrayed their country, the society of the time, who they were against, and the aftermath of their actions. When such factors are taken into consideration, Claus von Stauffenberg s actions of disloyalty for his government for the greater good should be held in higher regard in public memory. Most of the time, adults say phrases such as Good Job or Fantastic to boost the moral of students or children. But praise doesn t always lead to positive growth of an individual in the long run. There is, however, a stronger alternative to praisethat many 21st century Western societies haven t quite accepted. This is known as criticism. We see criticism everywhere in our daily lives; from the workplace, to sporting events and competitions, and even in schools across America. It s a lot stronger than praise because it provides students with a basis of comparison, and truth and honesty. Therefore, criticism has a betterlong term effect on feedback and growth and should be balanced with praise because it allows students to learn from previous mistakes or issues, forcing them to make a positive change about themselves that could potentially help in the future. There are many problems that appear with the use of general praise on its own. For one, praise feeds into the ego of a student, forcing them into a lazy mindset from the overflow of approval. If I were to use an analogy to describe these two types of managerial styles, I would state that the original style of managing was like a pyramid, and this new style of managing was a linked chain. The pyramid is dependent on all of its members, but there is a definite sense of superiority, as the higher management levels shrink down in numbers, but tower over all else. This pyramid, upon producing positive results, is viewed by others as having produced them due to the excellence of the peak of the pyramid, with very little or no recognition at the bottom of said pyramid. The linked chain on the other hand, though still managed with upper and lower levels, reacts more as a team, giving those involved more recognition for their accomplishments. People who are recognized as such, and appreciated for their individual strengths, may be more likely to utilize these strengths and feel that they are a part of the company, rather than a pawn of the company. De BrГ©beuf blamed the Huron people and their sins, stating their lust and gluttony, among other things, were causing the drought and sickness. He stated that in order for their sins to be cleansed, they must participate in novena, a nine day procession, to show God the their repentance. The novena was a promise to to the Huron; once they had accepted Christianity, their sins would be washed away, bringing rain and good health for all in Huronia. On the final day of the procession, rain finally came. This caused many of the Huron, who had not already done so, to convert to Christianity. This event made the Jesuits the most powerful and covered shamans within the Huron people. Missionaries spread across the area, bringing Christianity throughout Huronia and baptizing many in the confederacy. In 1635, the Huron invited the Jesuits to engage in the Huron Feast of the Dead, which was an important learning opportunity for the Jesuits. The missionaries wanted to use this event to evaluate how they could incorporate Christianity into the Huron tradition; the Feast could be admired, participated in, and built upon, to make up Huron Christianity. • 32. The Oversexualization Of Women In Japanese Anime And Manga WMST/PHIL 346 The Oversexualizing of Women in Japanese Anime and Manga The Japanese are a very creative culture which have produced several fantastic science fiction movies such as Gojira, which was an allegory for the use of atomic bombs in war to the animated cartoons, known as anime in America, like Space Battleship Yamato which portrayed the story of all the nations of the planet Earth joining forces to defeat an alien invasion. Yamato and other animelike Mach A Go Go had female characters in the shows that were both allies and sometimes love interest to the main characters, but still were depicted as strong female role models and were drawn with normal features and body types. However, as time has passed, women in anime have been more and more sexualized and this has had an effect on how young people look at Japanese culture and women in particular. In this paper, the effects of this practice will be observed. With the anime boom of the last few years, the way women have been portrayed in these animated cartoons has been more and more sexualized. Shows such as Fairy Tale depict the female leads as scantily clad fighters with rather large breast. Even the youngest girl on the show that is around the age of 11 to 12 is depicted with larger than normal breast. One of the main reasons for this is the rather strong patriarchal view of women in Japan that is still there to this day. The first portion of the latter half of the book discusses a key question in identifying who is Lafcadio Hearn? This absence of affordable housing became especially prevalent following World War II when suburbanization spread across the country like wildfire. Although the sheer number of homes increased, Jim Crow segregation influenced housing policy, meaning that white institutions prevented blacks from obtaining the mortgages needed to afford such homes. Therefore, rather than accept subprime loans, which often result in foreclosure, many black people have been pigeonholed into paying exorbitant rates for dilapidated rental properties located in inner cities, thereby creating the affordable housingproblem. Although the situation seems bleak, with careful planning and execution, we can solve the affordable housing problem. Specifically, my proposal involves the following two components: the government must first revise and draft three forms of legislation that create strict yet concise standards that landlords must follow, and then allocate federal funding to health and wellness programs within poor communities. By examining the contributing societal factors to the lack of affordable housing in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and then implementing the proposal mentioned above, one could potentially solve the affordable housing problem there and transpose the plan to other impoverished cities across the country. In her book she wrote Blithely wrapped up in a white world, white people often do not see their own ignorance and cannot be faulted for not addressing it... (18). Sullivan explains that white people do not realize that they are receiving these certain benefits for just being white. They also can t fix this problem until they realize that they are privileged. The privileges that they receive are mainly social benefits, which probably why they are hard to see. McIntosh give an example by saying, I can go shopping alone most of the time, pretty well assured that I will not be followed or harassed (607). This is one of the many over looked privileges that people don t seem to notice. • 48. The Pros And Cons Of Gun Laws In the United States, the gun laws need to be tightened, the laws that are in place now are too loose. If the United States tighten the gun laws we could cut down on deaths. It would also cut down on people acquiring firearms illegally like through families and friends, and legally but in unsafe ways like the Charleston Loophole. If the United Statespasses tighter gunlaws the deaths would decrease and the United States will be a bit of a nicer place. The Charleston Loophole is a big example of the reason the United States needs tighter Gun Laws. From the years 2010 through 2016, the loophole allowed about 23,000 guns to be sold to dangerous people (source 1). To buy a gun you had to go through a three business day background check. If that check could not be completed within the three business day time period, by federal law the stores were allowed to sell people the guns without the background check completed. If there was a larger time period for the background check the problem of dangerous people getting firearms, would diminish. All the background checks that have been completed have blocked more than two million dangerous people from getting firearms (also source 1). Also, most likely saved many lives which could have been taken if the people whose background checks were blocked. Another reason we should place tighter gun laws is that of how easy it is to acquire a gun. An article from the New York Times reviews a documentary called The New Radical . That documentary talked about a person named Cody Wilson, who released the first known 3D printer plans to create a gun. He named the gun The Liberator, and it is a single shot pistol made in a 3D printer. His gun plans had people questioning the boundaries of the 2nd amendment. Most other people would use the easier way like Daniel Webster said: When criminals get guns, they get them from friends, family, or from an underground market source. (source 1 article 2) Meaning that criminals and dangerous people could have a friend who is not convicted of a crime or clean buy the gun they use to kill or hurt a lot of people. So this creates an even more challenging task for people to define if a political leader is good or bad; and could possibly create a divide across the nation. One accomplishment has gone unnoticed but is commendable. That s Obama s flawless personal record. President Barack Obamahas served longer than any ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the four decades following its entry into force, the NPT has ensured massive growth in the peaceful employment of nuclear energy. Nuclear applications in water resources, medicine, environmental management, disease prevention, and food security contribute to improvement of people s lives around the world on a daily basis. Today, the benefits outlined in NPT s Article IV have seen widespread acceptance by worldwide nations with the U.S. leading in commitment to ensuring that benefits accruing from peaceful application of nuclear energy get to be shared equitably amongst states exhibiting commitment to their NPT responsibilities (Browne, Shetty and Somerville 385). Moreover, the NPT has proved an important and integral part of sustaining progress in line with disarmament. This arises from the fact that NPT is the principal legal barrier to proliferation of nuclear weapons and its party states have vowed to have good faith in pursuing negotiations regarding effective measures as related to quickest possible cessation of the nuclear arms race and nuclear disarmament (Jones 11). Rain feeds vegetation, evaporation occurs, and then returns to rivers, streams, and lakes and may seep into rocks and caves underground through limestone and into aquifers. It may take many years before it reaches the surface. Water is a valuable resource that people tend to mishandle and take for granted.
