A Poison Tree Poem Analysis
A woman frustrated with a friend for betraying her. She doesn t know whether or not to confront her
or hold it in. The rage builds up as she has been holding it in for weeks now. This anger grows and
grows until she snaps and their friendship comes to an end. Holding in that rage and devastation will
cause it to grow more. This is shown throughout many different poems. A Poison Tree by William
Blake and A total stranger one black day by e.e. cummings both convey the message that keeping in
anger can make it grow more than it was before.
Through A Poison Tree, William Blake conveys that burying anger, rather than exposing it, will
develop an anger seed that grows with the continuous wrath that is constantly being added to it. The
use of an extended metaphor in stanza two that compares a nurtured plant to anger expresses this
theme because it shows how the anger is building up. William Blake writes, And I waterd it in fears/
Night Morning with my tears (Blake 5 6). Here, the speaker says that his tears are watering the anger
seed, and goes on saying that this seed grows into a well nurtured plant. The author compared it to a
tree because water makes a tree grow and his tears is making his anger grow, which is the best way to
show us an image of his continuously growing anger. This is saying that the speaker s anger keeps
building up as time goes on. Another device William Blake uses is diction to show the strength of
anger that is needed to express how the speaker

The Role of Music in Forming and Transforming Identities
Write an essay of 2,500 words on the following topic: With reference to two contrasting musical forms
and cultural traditions, discuss the role of music in forming and transforming identities. Introduction
This essay will explore the role of music with regards to the formation and transformation of identities
within the emo subculture contrasting it to the dance music tradition. The subculture of emo music
engulfed many young adults of today s generation including myself and those who were drawn to its
spectrum and their affiliation to the music will allow for an in depth analysis of points made by
scholars which will allow me to contrast the emo subculture to that of dance music. Dance music has
become increasingly popular in the current popular music scene and it offers a distinct contrast to emo
music. Therefore, this provides a genuine contrast that can be anaylsed and by exploring the
contrasting features of these two music forms and their cultural traditions, it will be possible to
conclude the role of music in how it forms and transforms identities today.
Before delving into the meaning of emo I will first explore the definitions of culture and in particular,
youth subculture, to which emo is linked with. A culture as Stuart Hall describes is a way in which
groups of people handle the raw material of their social and material existence and also notes Marx in
saying that culture is the practice of realising group life in meaningful shape and form (Marx,

Temperament As An Explanation Of Adolescent Risk
1.Temperament Temperament is defined as a characteristic mode of behaviour or reaction of a person
or an animal (Coleman 2009). Temperament effects many aspects of life and is a broad concept that
cannot be directly measured, so many researchers have attempted to measure indirectly e.g. in
gambling behaviour (Caspi 2001). Although considered innate, it has been shown that it can change to
some degree (Moffet et. al 2011). An important aspect of temperament in relation to risk taking
behaviour is that of self control. Temperament as an explanation of adolescent risk taking has some
evidence to support it. To look at risk taking behaviours, Caspi (2011) studied the temperament s
effect on gambling. They observed a sample of three year olds to classify them into five temperament
categories. They later conducted face to face interviews with the same group at 21 and 32 years old.
They found that children who were classified as under controlled at age 3 were two times more likely
to display disorganised gambling behaviour compared to the well adjusted group. These findings were
independent of intelligence and socio economic status. Moffet et al. (2011) did a longitudinal
observational study on children from birth until 32 years old, looking at self control . This was to
assess whether children s self control levels predicted health issues, wealth outcomes, and criminal
convictions. They found that the differences in level of self control did predict these outcomes, and

Protests Riots Of The United States
Protests riots in the United States has proven to an issue for both the country s financial strength and
the unity of the nation. With the presence of social injustices, combined with the increased impact of
social media propaganda, protests riots are beginning to reach an all time high. Protest riots destroy
individual communities and businesses, jeopardizes the safety of others and taints the protest s cause
by resorting to civil disobedience. Action must be done in order to prevent these random acts of
violence from continuing after every social hot topic. The goal is not to prevent citizens from
protesting; in fact, this should be encouraged. The goal is to change the way the protests are handled
from both the citizens and authority perspectives, in order to prevent these protests from escalating
into something dangerous. There are three solutions that need to be introduced in order to correct the
problems caused by protest riots. If police officers change their approach when dealing with protests,
there is a smaller chance that a protest will escalate into a riot. Also if there are hidden cameras
implanted around the community and inside policer officer uniforms more people will be caught for
their actions. If rioters embrace a more peaceful approach toward social injustices, they will be higher
regarded by the general public. Purvi Shah, a demonstrator in the 2014 Ferguson protest, described her
first account experience in the middle of the Ferguson riot. I close my

Building and Using Good Teams in the Workplace Essay
At the MIT Human Dynamics Laboratory a research study was conducted in an attempt to find out
what factors make an effective team. Researcher Alex Sandy Pentland (2012) first sought out
companies with multiple teams that were comparable, but had fluctuating performance. He then
outfitted these teams with socio metric badges. These badges, which are also known as sociometers,
automatically measure face to face interaction, body motion, and vocal features among other things.
Through multiple studies and the analysis of this data Pentland suggests that communication is the
single most important factor of an effective team.
The study goes on to detail some of the observable communicative characteristics of these successful
teams. Active ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Inevitably these efforts will cost an organization money and time. The monetary cost range from
teambuilding exercises to bringing in a speaker. Time costs could include anything from planning the
engagement to the potential time employees may be away from working. Company leaders want to
know what will be the return on investment of these exercises.
Currently as much as 70% of workers in the United States are not engaged in their jobs,
(EHStoday.com). This staggering statistic indicates that without teambuilding activities, which help
employees to buy into the company s focus and directives as well as work more productively with one
another, workers are typically performing less effectively than they are truly capable of.
Teambuilding activities, as evidenced from the info graphic below, are one tool that employers can use
in order to increase collaboration, help to build trust within the team, and reduce conflict in the work
place. All of these factors will help to improve employee productivity within any given workplace.
Using Teams
Building a team and using a team are uniquely different from one another. Team building focuses on
the formation of the team, while team use concentrates on the function of the team. Perhaps the most
difficult aspect of using a team is first developing a culture of teamwork within the team. From
childhood to adults, Americans have been pushed to be the best, to compete against one another for

Pushing Syndrome Research Paper
Choice E is the best answer. Cushing syndrome is a clinical syndrome associated with an excess of
glucocorticoids(GCs), due either to elevated levels of endogenous cortisol or exogenous use of
glucocorticoid medications such as prednisone, prednisolone, hydrocortisone, and betamethasone.
Common signs and symptoms include altered fat deposition (including moon facies and buffalo hump
, referring to fat deposition in the face and the upper back), weight gain, hypertension, striae, acne,
hyperglycemia, and central muscle weakness. Treatment involves cessation of glucocorticoid therapy,
though a taper is crucial, as abrupt withdrawal can lead to acute adrenal insufficiency and shock. In
non endocrine disorders, GCs are commonly given in pharmacologic (therapeutic) doses to suppress
inflammation. In endocrine disorders, however, corticosteroid doses are often given at or close to
physiologic doses (rather than in therapeutic ranges). GC associated toxicity appears to be related to
both the average dose and cumulative duration of GC use. However, for most GC related adverse
events, threshold dose or treatment duration has not been established. Choice A is not the best answer.

conditions. In patients with endocrinopathies, pancreatic and adrenal lesions may be identified that
could relate to their condition. In this patient, it is theoretically possible for the Cushing syndrome to
be caused by a cortisol secreting adrenal tumor. However, Cushing syndrome is much more commonly
secondary to exogenous glucocorticoids rather than endogenous glucocorticoids; therefore, stopping
the patient s prednisone use should be the first step. If the symptoms of steroid excess persist, then a

Pros And Cons Of Dependence On Technology Essay
Technology surround us. Like water in the cream, people are swimming in technology each and every
day. From the radio playing a favourite song to a text received about the results of a game, people use
technology constantly. However, there is a point at which people are overtaken by technology; when
he wave engulfs us and there is no way out. People are becoming more and dependent on technology.
Ever since technology began heavily integrating itself into society, many major uses have developed,
but at a cost that brings on dangerous side effects, both mental and physical, as shown by the potential
Y2k bug, that will continue unless active measures are sought out by those so dependent on
technology. Outside of the classroom and the office, technology is still omnipresent. The internet, like
most advancements and perhaps the best known example of modern technology, began at a military
level ( Information Technology 2) and wound up eventually landing in the laps of businesses and the
common person. With this, the normal way of conducting business changed dramatically. Instead of

The Aspects Of The Pueblo Revolt Of 1680
The Pueblo Revolt of 1680 Throughout the period of colonization, several aspects of genocide can be
identified. From the Genocide Convention of 1948, genocide was lawfully defined as any of the
following committed with the intent to destroy in whole or part a national ethnical, racial, or religious
group as such: killing members of the group, causing serious bodily or mental harm to members of the
group, deliberately inflicting on the group conditions to bring about its destruction, imposing measures
intended to prevent births within the group, and/or forcibly transferring children of the group to
another group. In what is modern day North America, European settlers began colonizing the area in
hopes of achieving their goals of expanding Christianity, acquiring wealth for their countries, and/or
gaining personal wealth and power. The European settlers had little care about the indigenous people
of the areas they were colonizing, leading to the American Indian Wars (Lasting from 1622 1924) and
the genocide of Native Americans. During this time period, the Native American population decreased
dramatically as a result of brutal war, disease, and torture. The modern day New Mexico area in
particular was home to Indian Pueblos, who showed an extreme act of resistance against their Spanish
conquerors. What later became known as the Pueblo Revolt of 1680 showed how resistance to
genocide can be achievable and the impacts it may have. Genocide is impossible to overcome

Aristotle s Pre-Islamic Theory
The theory of how common illnesses were sent from the gods as a form of punishment along with how
healing as a gift used to be a common theory in the Ancient Greek times. Little by little this theory
changed over time with the help of Greek philosophers Empedocles, Aristotle, and Hippocates. The
hurmoral theory developed in Ancient Greese around 470 400 B.C, by a Greek Physician Hippocates.
This theory developed as time passed and our understanding of how the world worked. It also had a
significant influence on modern day medicine. By this theory developing throughout the ages it can
easily be described as the bench mark of human anatomy and the medical profession that we now
know today. The influence and development in Greek and Islamic Medicine and the culture was
amazing.
The Greek Philosopher Empedocles is a part of the Pre Socratic (philosophers before Socrates). He is
best recognized for describing the four building blocks that construct the universe. His way of
explaining elements were depending on the mixture and the combination of fire, air, earth, and water
(page 128) all matter was made from these four building blocks. Aristotle developed the 4 building

The Acts Of The Apostles
The Acts of the Apostles is the name given to the second part of a two volume work traditionally
identified as having been written by Luke, a companion of the Apostle Paul. Luke presumably a
Gentile Christian, helps his communities to know how to remain faithful to tradition while
reinterpreting it for their new circumstances. In this pericope of Acts 2:41 47, the portrait of a group of
believers who have a community spirit and is filled with the Holy Spirit, who becomes the church is
depicted. In verse forty one, at the annual feast of Pentecost, as a result of the sermon Peter preached
that mirrored the behavior of the people to themselves concerning their treatment of Jesus, there was a

Wait in this context connotes an appointed time was coming. They should not depart Jerusalem
connotes the appointed place for the out pouring of the Holy Spirit. Should anyone of them had gone
against his command to stay in Jerusalem, that person would have missed the mighty move of God.
They were to begin their witness about the Lord in Jerusalem and expand their territory. One of the
wonders and signs Jesus said he would show was manifested in the people being able to hear one
another in their own native tongue. As Peter spoke to them, he pointed out that Jesus was sitting at the
right hand of God. And God the Father had filled Jesus with the Holy Ghost and now Jesus was
shedding forth the Holy Ghost upon them. This made them all the more glad. They were also amazed
and marveled and were glad about the national racial barrier being broken down through the power of
Holy Spirit. People from every nation was there and on one accord. This answered the declaration God
made: It shall come, that I will gather all nations and tongues; and they shall come, and see my glory
(Is 66:18). And according to (2:1) at least three thousand were glad enough to be baptized in to the
believers fellowship. And as Joel the prophet had spoken, they began to prophesy even to each other.

through strategy and innovation. The main focus is for an airline industry to stand out and attract
customers. The customers are the reason why companies such as Virgin, Jet Blue, AirTran, Delta and

The diversity remains a major challenge for majority of airlines seeking to achieve best level customer
experience and satisfaction. Different people have different reasons behind them using air transport.
The various reasons may be categorised into three main groups (Atilgan, Akinci, S. Aksoy, 2008).
First category involves those travelling for pleasure and status. Travellers in this group always use air
transport as way of achieving personal pleasures. The second group involves individuals who travel
for business or work related activities. This group of travellers have unique preferences that airline
organizations must meet so as to make them fully satisfied.
The last group of individuals are those seeking medical services and emergency service. This group of
people have unique needs that must be met so as to make them have great experience that would yield
best satisfaction. The strategies embraced must consider how the service is felt at individual level.
Failure to ensure that the majority of travellers if not all travel preferences and needs are at most met,
the organization risks losing customer to other airline organizations with better customer satisfaction
strategies (Huang Feng, 2009).
In airline customer satisfaction strategies
Regardless of diversity or not every airline organizations must ensure that their aeroplanes are offers

Confusion in Cultures
The perception of foreign cultures can at times be quite peculiar. The article Eating Christmas in
Kalahari by Richard Borshay Lee, foretells a classic example of cross culture misunderstanding when
people from different cultures operate in a culturally unfamiliar environment. Richard Lee, a social
anthropologist, explains what he learned living with the !Kung Bushmen, a South African tribe, for
three years. This Gemeinschaft community of hunters gatherers worked together to teach the
anthropologist something important to their people, even though he was unaware of their intentions in
the beginning. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He felt like he had ruined their holiday traditions and his own holiday by supplying the people with
little to feast upon. Why were they being so ungrateful to Lee s gesture? On Christmas morning it was
time to start the slaughter of the ox. Richard soon came to realize that his ox would be more than
enough for everyone to have all the meat they desired. He also found out that they were kidding the
whole time. After the feast and celebration were successful, he was bewildered about the whole ordeal
and how they acted towards him. It said in the article that this was the point when he felt that
something important had happened in his relationship with the Bushmen and that the clue lay in the
meaning of the joke. As Lee occasionally showed a bit of arrogance in his mannerisms and actions, he
is viewed in a negative manner by the bushmen. After talking to several members of the Bushmen, he
found the true meaning of the joke. The Bushmen people were trying to teach him a lesson of
arrogance. They would not accept a person who would boast upon his hunt because they feared that
his pride would make a person kill someone one day. Tomazo, a member of the Bushmen, told him
that it was to cool his heart and make him gentle. He originally was not trying to see their culture from
the viewpoint of a native; he was using the eyes of an outsider to try to a put a meaning to their
dissimilar practices.

Cause And Effect Of Natural Disasters
The unexpected is something that can not be prevented. Natural disasters destroy everything in their
way. With the help of technology and how fast it is growing, communities know a natural disaster is
happening within hours or days of its starting. The people that live in that area often know what there
is to come before it actually arrives. They often are encouraged to evacuate as soon as possible. But
how could someone leave behind all their belongings, memories and cherishable items to be swept
away in a storm just like trash? People are too stubborn to listen to the news or weather reports
because they are skeptical. They sometimes may be right however, most of the time they are in the
wrong. These are the types of people who normally ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Yearly costs make countries go into deep financial debt due to their inability to recover what they lost.
They never recover financially because once they are done recovering from one disaster another one
hits and it becomes a never ending cycle of trying to help one another recover. In the same article,
Tudor points out that, One of the major negative effects is that there is a reduction of tourism (Tudor).
People are too frightened to visit because they are constantly in fear that another natural disaster may
hit. Many countries rely on tourism to help their economy because of the money they spend in hotels
and food and etc. Tourism also helps to bring in other people into the country to thus help the national
government and the population as a whole. Without tourism the future generations are afflicted down
to a personal level with which the people already living there are going to most likely stay there,
keeping the gross domestic product at a progressively decreasing rate. After the Thai floods, there was
a significant shortage of computer hard drives that sent consumer prices skyrocketing until factories
were able to come back online ( The Impact of Natural Disasters on the Global Economy ). The
damage from the disaster is not only local countries from a far feel the effects of the disaster as well.

Studies show that a common thread amongst criminals is neglected and abusive childhoods. Being
maltreated in the early years of development approximately doubles the probability of engaging in
many types of crimes. The effects are worst for children from low socio economic status backgrounds;
lower class youth commit four times more violent crimes than middle class youth. Beyond the obvious

The Statement Of Financial Statements
FIN 48 Summary
At the beginning of November in 2007, the Statement of Financial Statements (SFAS) board decided
to postpone the enactment of FIN 48 financial reporting and accounting and income taxes until later
that year on December 15, 2007. The purpose of FIN 48 is to force public companies to analyze
company s tax positions and evaluate the probability that their tax position will require them to be
audited and if they are audited will their records be sufficient and accurate. If an organization finds
that their tax position is likely to not be sustained a liability is created and the tax benefit of their
position decreases. Some tax positions that organizations should think about include the choice not to
file a return in a certain location, a shift of revenue between tax jurisdictions, the characterization of
revenue or a choice to not include reporting taxable income in tax documents. Additionally, a choice
to classify a transaction, organization, or other position in a tax return as tax exempt, extra
compensation in a C Corporation, international transfer pricing, Inventory capitalization, and
unrelated business income (Feeley Driscoll, P.C, 2008) Summary

How Did Marcel Duchamp s Use Of Imagery In Pop Art
Pop Art c. 1952 1970
Pop art began to emerge in the early 1950s as a result of a booming, capitalist American economy that
followed the Second World War. A sense of optimism arose nationwide with new job security, healthy
incomes and an absence of military obligations. Post war marriage and baby booms yielded the largest
generation in the nations history . The American dream was born and idealized in the media through
advertising. Research undertaken by sociologists into consumer habits and behavior became a
marketing strategy and corporations adapted their production by tapping into what was fashionable
and desirable among the masses.
The exponentially growing population gave way to a social group that had never before been
established in its own right, teenagers. Now that families could afford to give their children a
wholesome education, this age group no longer had to spend their days contributing to the family
income at work, which left more time and freedom for leisure activities. As adolescents began to
follow popular music and culture, the concept of popular culture exploded in America. This in turn is
from where the movement of Pop art was derived. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Marcel Duchamp s concept of the objet trouvé or ready made as subject matter and material for his
work inspired the use of popular imagery in Pop art. The use of trivial imagery in his work brought art
into the every day world and made the every day world into art. In his book Pop Art, Tilman
Osterwold declares Dada combined advertising, images and texts, slogans, revolutionary films,
assemblages, theatre and performances in its art. It was this idea of reality dubbed as art that later
inspired Andy Warhol in his Campbell s Soup

Otariid Rearing Behavior Case Study
Otariid Rearing Behavior
In all otariid species, the male ignores young pups. There is no parental care. Often, the males are even
overly aggressive towards young pups. After parturition, the mother immediately smells the newborn
and vocalizes. The pup can vocalize within minutes of birth. Through these actions, a mother pup
bond is formed. They can then recognize each other and reestablish connections based on smell and
vocalizations (textbook). It is thought that hearing is the more efficient so that vocalizations are better
at distinguishing between individuals (3). This is beneficial in reuniting pup and mother after she
returns from her foraging trip. The female will attack females at risk of endangering their pup. They
will move the pup out of harms way if necessary by way of mouth (3). Pups are rejected by non
maternal females (4). Pups often aggregate with other pups in the same age group normally in areas
away disturbances. Pups receive no instruction in feeding and swimming from the mother. They learn
from their social ties with other pups (3).

The Battle Of Pearl Harbor
The Pacific Campaign was a series of relentless, ongoing amphibious landings and campaigns that
took place among several surrounding islands where naval and air power, rather than large and heavy
ground forces, were of utmost importance. In the Pacific Campaign, the Japanese primary targets were
the United States Navy and US Marine Corps. The United Kingdom, New Zealand, Australia, Canada
and other Allied nations also committed many forces. The Second World War was the largest war that
America had ever taken part. America first entered the war in 1941 due to a Japanese attack on the
naval base, Pearl Harbor. The Japanese eventually surrendered to the Allied forces on September 2,
1945. The invasion of Pearl Harbor was not specifically the start of the Pacific War; there were many
campaigns that took place simultaneously. However, the invasion of Pearl Harbor was the reason the
United States entered the war on December 7, 1941. The attack, which was a complete surprise to the
United States, lasted only two hours, but it was very destructive. Since the American military leaders
never imagined an attack so close to home, most of the naval facilities at Pearl Harbor were
undefended. The Japanese destroyed almost twenty American naval ships, including 8 large warships
and nearly 200 aircraft. Over 2,000 American soldiers and sailors were killed during the attack on
Pearl Harbor. Out of 184 Japanese planes, only 29 were taken down. The day after the attack on Pearl

The Burden Of St. Paul Essay
The Burden of St. Paul Today: Us vs Them
Christianity has over 2.1 billion followers throughout the world and is known to be a universal,
monotheistic belief system that has been developed since the life, death and resurrection of Jesus
Christ. The apostle Paul is a man, which is known for his mission to spread Christianity. He was raised
as a jew, and ironically, during his youth he was persecuted by Christians. Paul, known as Saul during
this time, was born in Tarsus. Saul, during his years as a Jewish Pharisee in Tarsus, would militantly
persecute anything that involved Christianity. He was so much opposed to Christianity that he was
given authority by the chief priest to destroy these followers of Christianity. Saul decided that he
would extend his persecution to other cities such as Damascus. It was this walk on the road to
Damascus that would serve as a major turning point in his life. Jesus appeared to Saul, saying Saul,
Saul! Why do you persecute me? (Acts 9:1 6) Paul was blinded, yet his mind became clear. He knew
then that Jesus was calling him to spread the salvation brought by faith through Jesus Christ. These
renewed eyes of Paul were now determined to seek out individuals that needed to hear about salvation
through Jesus, specifically, his people the Jews. The Christian Church of today consists of
approximately 38,000 Christian denominations spread out across the globe. Many of which actively
send missionaries to foreign countries. Would Paul, or even

To some, Picasso s WOMAN WITH FISH HAT painting may look like a beginner s attempt, but to an

looks like haphazard splatters of paint. In the crime thriller CONTRABAND a seemingly tarp full of

Amateurs consider many famous artworks as junk but connoisseur valuable them as treasures. Who is

America graffiti acquired its bad rap from the hippie era. Protesters of the Vietnam War and other

increase of immigrants and their need to integrate. Many youths in large cities such as Los Angeles

preparing offering for the gods and sometime they place the offering on the step of the ziggurat. They

Life Lesson By The Holocaust Analysis

Princess Alice and Miep Gies risked their lives through good will to protect the important Jewish
people in their lives. This proves they were not bystanders. A bystander is defined as a person who
witnesses an incident taking place but does not get involved or take action. Both took action to do
what was right. Not to mention, each ignored the common belief that one practicing Judaism or those
of Jewish grandparents were threats to the population. Because Anne Frank was locked in the annex
and deprived of her original lifestyle, her young personality changed and she began to lose ambition.
This is also a downside that relates to bullying. Similarly, in modern bullying, victims become
depressed and their personalities change because they are treated variously and with little respect.
Moreover, when Sonia was recapping her past life and comparing it to the nightmare situations she

how far away each Cepheid laid as well as how far to each nebula and discovered they were too

the Milky Way. Lastly, Hubble discovered the Big Bang Theory. He studied ancient light and
concluded about 13.7 billion years ago nothing existed. All matter and energy in the universe was
compressed into an extremely small volume. 13 years ago it exploded and expanded in all directions.
The support to back this up is light from other galaxies and how the spectral lines almost shifted
towards the red end of the spectrum as red shift galaxies are moving away, making Earth expand.

Overcrowding Prisons And The Prisons Essay

Overcrowding Prisons Prisons were essentially built to accommodate a number of prisoners, but over
the years, it has reached over capacity. Today in the United States, there are approximately 193,468
federal inmates that consist of the Bureau of Prisons Custody, private managed facilities and other
facilities. The inmates ages range from 18 65 with the median age being in their late 30 s. This number
is counting both male and female population with a male being 93.3% of inmates and females being
6.7%. The number of inmates has steadily increased since 1980 with only having approximately less
than 50,000 but today the number has gone more up. Drug offenses are the highest number of inmate s
imprisonment, the next higher offense would be weapons, explosives and arson; immigration and
miscellaneous fall next in lines. The number of the other offenses, such as robbery, extortion, fraud,
bribery, burglary, larceny, property offenses and other offenses are lower. Overcrowding prisons have
become problematic as the prisons population continues to increase, leading to proper care and
attention to prisoners.

  • 2. A Poison Tree Poem Analysis A woman frustrated with a friend for betraying her. She doesn t know whether or not to confront her or hold it in. The rage builds up as she has been holding it in for weeks now. This anger grows and grows until she snaps and their friendship comes to an end. Holding in that rage and devastation will cause it to grow more. This is shown throughout many different poems. A Poison Tree by William Blake and A total stranger one black day by e.e. cummings both convey the message that keeping in anger can make it grow more than it was before. Through A Poison Tree, William Blake conveys that burying anger, rather than exposing it, will develop an anger seed that grows with the continuous wrath that is constantly being added to it. The use of an extended metaphor in stanza two that compares a nurtured plant to anger expresses this theme because it shows how the anger is building up. William Blake writes, And I waterd it in fears/ Night Morning with my tears (Blake 5 6). Here, the speaker says that his tears are watering the anger seed, and goes on saying that this seed grows into a well nurtured plant. The author compared it to a tree because water makes a tree grow and his tears is making his anger grow, which is the best way to show us an image of his continuously growing anger. This is saying that the speaker s anger keeps building up as time goes on. Another device William Blake uses is diction to show the strength of anger that is needed to express how the speaker ... • 3. The Role of Music in Forming and Transforming Identities Write an essay of 2,500 words on the following topic: With reference to two contrasting musical forms and cultural traditions, discuss the role of music in forming and transforming identities. Introduction This essay will explore the role of music with regards to the formation and transformation of identities within the emo subculture contrasting it to the dance music tradition. The subculture of emo music engulfed many young adults of today s generation including myself and those who were drawn to its spectrum and their affiliation to the music will allow for an in depth analysis of points made by scholars which will allow me to contrast the emo subculture to that of dance music. Dance music has become increasingly popular in the current popular music scene and it offers a distinct contrast to emo music. Therefore, this provides a genuine contrast that can be anaylsed and by exploring the contrasting features of these two music forms and their cultural traditions, it will be possible to conclude the role of music in how it forms and transforms identities today. Before delving into the meaning of emo I will first explore the definitions of culture and in particular, youth subculture, to which emo is linked with. A culture as Stuart Hall describes is a way in which groups of people handle the raw material of their social and material existence and also notes Marx in saying that culture is the practice of realising group life in meaningful shape and form (Marx, ... • 4. Temperament As An Explanation Of Adolescent Risk 1.Temperament Temperament is defined as a characteristic mode of behaviour or reaction of a person or an animal (Coleman 2009). Temperament effects many aspects of life and is a broad concept that cannot be directly measured, so many researchers have attempted to measure indirectly e.g. in gambling behaviour (Caspi 2001). Although considered innate, it has been shown that it can change to some degree (Moffet et. al 2011). An important aspect of temperament in relation to risk taking behaviour is that of self control. Temperament as an explanation of adolescent risk taking has some evidence to support it. To look at risk taking behaviours, Caspi (2011) studied the temperament s effect on gambling. They observed a sample of three year olds to classify them into five temperament categories. They later conducted face to face interviews with the same group at 21 and 32 years old. They found that children who were classified as under controlled at age 3 were two times more likely to display disorganised gambling behaviour compared to the well adjusted group. These findings were independent of intelligence and socio economic status. Moffet et al. (2011) did a longitudinal observational study on children from birth until 32 years old, looking at self control . This was to assess whether children s self control levels predicted health issues, wealth outcomes, and criminal convictions. They found that the differences in level of self control did predict these outcomes, and that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Protests Riots Of The United States Protests riots in the United States has proven to an issue for both the country s financial strength and the unity of the nation. With the presence of social injustices, combined with the increased impact of social media propaganda, protests riots are beginning to reach an all time high. Protest riots destroy individual communities and businesses, jeopardizes the safety of others and taints the protest s cause by resorting to civil disobedience. Action must be done in order to prevent these random acts of violence from continuing after every social hot topic. The goal is not to prevent citizens from protesting; in fact, this should be encouraged. The goal is to change the way the protests are handled from both the citizens and authority perspectives, in order to prevent these protests from escalating into something dangerous. There are three solutions that need to be introduced in order to correct the problems caused by protest riots. If police officers change their approach when dealing with protests, there is a smaller chance that a protest will escalate into a riot. Also if there are hidden cameras implanted around the community and inside policer officer uniforms more people will be caught for their actions. If rioters embrace a more peaceful approach toward social injustices, they will be higher regarded by the general public. Purvi Shah, a demonstrator in the 2014 Ferguson protest, described her first account experience in the middle of the Ferguson riot. I close my ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Building and Using Good Teams in the Workplace Essay At the MIT Human Dynamics Laboratory a research study was conducted in an attempt to find out what factors make an effective team. Researcher Alex Sandy Pentland (2012) first sought out companies with multiple teams that were comparable, but had fluctuating performance. He then outfitted these teams with socio metric badges. These badges, which are also known as sociometers, automatically measure face to face interaction, body motion, and vocal features among other things. Through multiple studies and the analysis of this data Pentland suggests that communication is the single most important factor of an effective team. The study goes on to detail some of the observable communicative characteristics of these successful teams. Active ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Inevitably these efforts will cost an organization money and time. The monetary cost range from teambuilding exercises to bringing in a speaker. Time costs could include anything from planning the engagement to the potential time employees may be away from working. Company leaders want to know what will be the return on investment of these exercises. Currently as much as 70% of workers in the United States are not engaged in their jobs, (EHStoday.com). This staggering statistic indicates that without teambuilding activities, which help employees to buy into the company s focus and directives as well as work more productively with one another, workers are typically performing less effectively than they are truly capable of. Teambuilding activities, as evidenced from the info graphic below, are one tool that employers can use in order to increase collaboration, help to build trust within the team, and reduce conflict in the work place. All of these factors will help to improve employee productivity within any given workplace. Using Teams Building a team and using a team are uniquely different from one another. Team building focuses on the formation of the team, while team use concentrates on the function of the team. Perhaps the most difficult aspect of using a team is first developing a culture of teamwork within the team. From childhood to adults, Americans have been pushed to be the best, to compete against one another for the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Pushing Syndrome Research Paper Choice E is the best answer. Cushing syndrome is a clinical syndrome associated with an excess of glucocorticoids(GCs), due either to elevated levels of endogenous cortisol or exogenous use of glucocorticoid medications such as prednisone, prednisolone, hydrocortisone, and betamethasone. Common signs and symptoms include altered fat deposition (including moon facies and buffalo hump , referring to fat deposition in the face and the upper back), weight gain, hypertension, striae, acne, hyperglycemia, and central muscle weakness. Treatment involves cessation of glucocorticoid therapy, though a taper is crucial, as abrupt withdrawal can lead to acute adrenal insufficiency and shock. In non endocrine disorders, GCs are commonly given in pharmacologic (therapeutic) doses to suppress inflammation. In endocrine disorders, however, corticosteroid doses are often given at or close to physiologic doses (rather than in therapeutic ranges). GC associated toxicity appears to be related to both the average dose and cumulative duration of GC use. However, for most GC related adverse events, threshold dose or treatment duration has not been established. Choice A is not the best answer. While a proper diet and exercise program is ... In patients with endocrinopathies, pancreatic and adrenal lesions may be identified that could relate to their condition. In this patient, it is theoretically possible for the Cushing syndrome to be caused by a cortisol secreting adrenal tumor. However, Cushing syndrome is much more commonly secondary to exogenous glucocorticoids rather than endogenous glucocorticoids; therefore, stopping the patient s prednisone use should be the first step. If the symptoms of steroid excess persist, then a CT of the abdomen with a three phase adrenal protocol could be performed to identify a potential adrenal ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Pros And Cons Of Dependence On Technology Essay Technology surround us. Like water in the cream, people are swimming in technology each and every day. From the radio playing a favourite song to a text received about the results of a game, people use technology constantly. However, there is a point at which people are overtaken by technology; when he wave engulfs us and there is no way out. People are becoming more and dependent on technology. Ever since technology began heavily integrating itself into society, many major uses have developed, but at a cost that brings on dangerous side effects, both mental and physical, as shown by the potential Y2k bug, that will continue unless active measures are sought out by those so dependent on technology. Outside of the classroom and the office, technology is still omnipresent. The internet, like most advancements and perhaps the best known example of modern technology, began at a military level ( Information Technology 2) and wound up eventually landing in the laps of businesses and the common person. With this, the normal way of conducting business changed dramatically. Instead of physically exchanging ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 9. The Aspects Of The Pueblo Revolt Of 1680 The Pueblo Revolt of 1680 Throughout the period of colonization, several aspects of genocide can be identified. From the Genocide Convention of 1948, genocide was lawfully defined as any of the following committed with the intent to destroy in whole or part a national ethnical, racial, or religious group as such: killing members of the group, causing serious bodily or mental harm to members of the group, deliberately inflicting on the group conditions to bring about its destruction, imposing measures intended to prevent births within the group, and/or forcibly transferring children of the group to another group. In what is modern day North America, European settlers began colonizing the area in hopes of achieving their goals of expanding Christianity, acquiring wealth for their countries, and/or gaining personal wealth and power. The European settlers had little care about the indigenous people of the areas they were colonizing, leading to the American Indian Wars (Lasting from 1622 1924) and the genocide of Native Americans. During this time period, the Native American population decreased dramatically as a result of brutal war, disease, and torture. The modern day New Mexico area in particular was home to Indian Pueblos, who showed an extreme act of resistance against their Spanish conquerors. What later became known as the Pueblo Revolt of 1680 showed how resistance to genocide can be achievable and the impacts it may have. Genocide is impossible to overcome ... • 10. Aristotle s Pre-Islamic Theory The theory of how common illnesses were sent from the gods as a form of punishment along with how healing as a gift used to be a common theory in the Ancient Greek times. Little by little this theory changed over time with the help of Greek philosophers Empedocles, Aristotle, and Hippocates. The hurmoral theory developed in Ancient Greese around 470 400 B.C, by a Greek Physician Hippocates. This theory developed as time passed and our understanding of how the world worked. It also had a significant influence on modern day medicine. By this theory developing throughout the ages it can easily be described as the bench mark of human anatomy and the medical profession that we now know today. The influence and development in Greek and Islamic Medicine and the culture was amazing. The Greek Philosopher Empedocles is a part of the Pre Socratic (philosophers before Socrates). Luke presumably a Gentile Christian, helps his communities to know how to remain faithful to tradition while reinterpreting it for their new circumstances. In this pericope of Acts 2:41 47, the portrait of a group of believers who have a community spirit and is filled with the Holy Spirit, who becomes the church is depicted. One of the wonders and signs Jesus said he would show was manifested in the people being able to hear one another in their own native tongue. As Peter spoke to them, he pointed out that Jesus was sitting at the right hand of God. And God the Father had filled Jesus with the Holy Ghost and now Jesus was shedding forth the Holy Ghost upon them. This made them all the more glad. They were also amazed and marveled and were glad about the national racial barrier being broken down through the power of Holy Spirit. People from every nation was there and on one accord. This answered the declaration God made: It shall come, that I will gather all nations and tongues; and they shall come, and see my glory (Is 66:18). As Lee occasionally showed a bit of arrogance in his mannerisms and actions, he is viewed in a negative manner by the bushmen. After talking to several members of the Bushmen, he found the true meaning of the joke. The Bushmen people were trying to teach him a lesson of arrogance. How Did Marcel Duchamp s Use Of Imagery In Pop Art Pop Art c. 1952 1970 Pop art began to emerge in the early 1950s as a result of a booming, capitalist American economy that followed the Second World War. A sense of optimism arose nationwide with new job security, healthy incomes and an absence of military obligations. Post war marriage and baby booms yielded the largest generation in the nations history . The American dream was born and idealized in the media through advertising. Research undertaken by sociologists into consumer habits and behavior became a marketing strategy and corporations adapted their production by tapping into what was fashionable and desirable among the masses. The exponentially growing population gave way to a social group that had never before been established in its own right, teenagers. Now that families could afford to give their children a wholesome education, this age group no longer had to spend their days contributing to the family income at work, which left more time and freedom for leisure activities. The Burden Of St. Paul Essay The Burden of St. Paul Today: Us vs Them Christianity has over 2.1 billion followers throughout the world and is known to be a universal, monotheistic belief system that has been developed since the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. The apostle Paul is a man, which is known for his mission to spread Christianity. He was raised as a jew, and ironically, during his youth he was persecuted by Christians. Paul, known as Saul during this time, was born in Tarsus. Saul, during his years as a Jewish Pharisee in Tarsus, would militantly persecute anything that involved Christianity. He was so much opposed to Christianity that he was given authority by the chief priest to destroy these followers of Christianity. Saul decided that he would extend his persecution to other cities such as Damascus. It was this walk on the road to Damascus that would serve as a major turning point in his life. Jesus appeared to Saul, saying Saul, Saul! Why do you persecute me? (Acts 9:1 6) Paul was blinded, yet his mind became clear. He knew then that Jesus was calling him to spread the salvation brought by faith through Jesus Christ. He distinguishes the wrong that was committed, and because of it, he has lost his blissful thinking.
