Summary Of The Death And Life Of Great American Cities By...
In the introduction of The Death and life of Great American Cities, Jane Jacobs acknowledges city
planning and the need for a reform by addressing the effects of beautification and the lack of
resources and support.
In her introduction of The Death and life of Great American Cities, Jane Jacobs introduces city
planning and presents the reader with real life view. She also explains the principles of planning
and the effects it contains on social and economic issues. Jacobs highlights the theory of
beautification and the lack of city planners understanding the needs of the general people. She
continues by acknowledging the Decentrists and the common disciplines with modern city planners
such as Ebenezer Howard s Garden City plan, Nathan Glazer s ... Show more content on

Jacobs addresses the most common idea of city planning as beautification and questions the
effect it has on restoring a neighborhood. Jacobs states Handsome is as Handsome does. All that
glitters are not gold (Jacobs 15). As much as the city can be beautified and full of parks and land
it does not make up for the needs of the people. Jacob provides the example of a housing project
and a lawn; Everyone in the housing project was upset and seem to have an opinion on having a
lawn, when someone finally asked why and bothered to listen to the people, they realized that the
people wanted a space to come together but unfortunately no one had bothered to ask. (15)
Unfortunately, due to the lack of resources it is house projects like this that are often referred to as
slums. Jacobs explains that ideally tax money would be used to fix the communities and allow for
beautification. However due to economical stance of many neighborhoods and the city planning
ideology it seems close to impossible. Jacobs writes Bankers, like planers have theories about cities
on which they act... They are enlightened

The Battle Of The Punic Wars
Joel Medero
History Western Civilization
Professor Smail
THE PUNIC WARS
During the 3rd and 2nd centuries B.C., three wars were fought between Rome and Carthage. The
name given to describe the wars Punic, is a divided word from the Latin and Greek words for
Phoenician. The city of Carthage, situated in what is now Tunisia in North Africa, was founded in
814 B.C. by the Phoenicians. The first two wars were the longest 23 years and 17 years, separated
by an interval of 23 years. The last and third war lasted only three years. It started 52 years after
the end of the second Punic War. All three wars were won by Rome, which automatically emerged
as the greatest military power in the Mediterranean Sea. The hostility of Carthage impelled
Rome to build up its large army and create a strong navy just like the one Carthage had. Strong
military leaders of the war for Carthage and his sons Hasdrubal and Hannibal. Rome s
outstanding leaders were Scipio Africanus. Belief holds that Phoenician settlers from the
Mediterranean port of Tyre discovered the city state of Carthage on the northern coast of Africa.
By 265 B.C., Carthage was the richest and the most advanced city in the region, as well as its
prominent naval power. Through Carthage had clashed forcefully with several other powers in the
region, notably Greece, its relations with Rome were historically friendly, and its cities had signed
several treaties defining trading rights over the years. By 275 B.C. Rome had brought

AESOP AND ITS HISTORY
Aesop was established in Melbourne in 1987 with a quest to create a range of superlative products
for the skin, hair and body. The company is committed to using both plant based and laboratory
made ingredients of the highest quality and proven efficacy particularly those with the greatest anti
oxidant properties.
The company was started by a hairdresser Dennis Paphitis who used to work in a salon. Product
wise he started adding essential oils to the commercial hair color, as the smell of ammonia is quiet
overwhelming his clients responded well to these less aggressive aromas. He then took this up as a
passion and started understanding these ingredients and started working with a chemist on a small
range of hair products. Eventually the hair product extended to a hand and body product category
and finally skin care.
Dennis felt this was an opportunity that was approaching his way. Finally in 1996 he quit the salon
and began his extensive research and development in the field of cosmetics. He felt that the
marketing of his product was limited just to the salon.
The next few years he along with the chemist intensely spent time setting up a foundation for a
product line and development. All this was done

Essay about The Battle of Vicksburg
The Battle of Vicksburg
The Civil war cut our nation in two, Americans fighting Americans, brother against brother. A key
battle fought westward was the turning point in the war: the Battle of Vicksburg.
(Williams 3)
Grant began to make plans for a campaign against Vicksburg. The campaign in the American Civil
War culminating in the surrender of Vicksburg, Mississippi. The Union forces under General
Ulysses S. Grant on July 4, 1863. General Ulysses S. Grant with the largest force, about 67, 000

To its proud citizens, Vicksburg was the Queen City of the Bluff and center, as one f them wrote, of
them wrote, of culture, education and luxury . All this to change with coming of the war. (Brann 81)
By early 1862 the peaceful town had become one of the most stregically important spots in the
entire confederacy. From the beginning of the war in 1861, to protect their most prized possession,
the Confederacy but up fortifications at strategic points along the river. Federal forces eventually
captured post after post.
After fighting their way southward from Illinois and northward from Gulf of Mexico. Until by
late summer of 1862, only Vicksburg and Port Hudson appeared to be major constraints to the
Union of the two posts, Vicksburg was by far the strongest and most important. Setting high over
looking a bend in the river, protected by artillery and dangerous swamps. So far the city had
defined Union efforts to force into submission. (Williams 1)
In order to protect the Mississippi Valley, Confederates established a line of defense, which ran
from Columbus, Kentucky, overlooking the Mississippi River through Bowling Green to
Cumberland Gap where the bright flank was secure on the mountains. On the Mississippi River,
south of Columbus, fortifications were also placed on island number 10 and on the Chickasaw

Essay On Bipa Exposure
We set out to determine the extent of dental material related BPA exposure comparing the urinary
BPA concentrations before and after dental treatment among patients receiving BisGMA based
composites and sealants. Our findings suggest that there is a transient lasting up to 14 days to 6
months increase in BPA concentrations following treatment [35, 38], whether negative health
effects can result from this exposure is yet to be determined.
Dental composite restorations and dental sealants have revolutionized the field of esthetic and
preventive dentistry. Many of these products use BisGMA as an ingredient and BPA exposure
related to these products has only recently begun to be rigorously explored. When BisGMA was
developed in 1962, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(2005) and Kang et al. (2011) observed sustained increases of BPA levels at 14 days and one month
respectively, while Maserejian et al. (2016) and Moreira et al. (2017) reported that BPA levels were
back to baseline by 14 days and one month respectively. Martin et al. (2005), Kang et al. (2011) and
Moreira et al. (2017) had small sample sizes of 19, 22, 20 respectively, compared with Maserejian
et al. (2016) who used a sample size of 91 patients. The different results could be due to the
difference in the composition of dental material, the sample sizes, the amount of material applied,
differences in application/polymerization of the materials, laboratory methodologies or limits of
detection.
Martin et al. (2005) and Kang et al. (2011) studies were conducted 6 12 years ago when
environmental exposures to BPA from other sources were high and when the assays for measuring
BPA were not as robust/accurate. Maserejian et al. (2016) was the only study that followed
participants for over one month. This study found minimal differences from baseline and 6 months,
suggesting that BPA exposure from dental treatment results in a transient increase in urinary BPA
concentrations.
Two studies, Maserejian et al. (2016) and Kingman et al. (2012), reported no association between
the number of pre existing resin based restorations and concentrations of BPA in urine. This
suggests that BPA concentrations are not due to release of BPA from degradation BisGMA based

The Function Of Thyroid Gland
The thyroid gland is butterfly shaped organ located in the front of the neck just above the trachea
connected by an isthmus [1]. the major function of thyroid gland is the Production of the T3, T4

thyroid hormones. Thyroiddisorders related to dyshormonogenesis e.g. (Goiter, Thyroiditis,

Essay On Magnetic Field
Summer of 2017 saw UT Southwestern Medical Center make considerable strides in biotech with
the development of high frequency alternating magnetic fields to destroy bacterial films on the
surfaces of artificial joints in the body simply by heating the joints themselves. These bacterial
infections tend to be of great detriment to patients, and they prove impeccably resilient to
antibiotics. Since then, that same research has been furthered to prove itself on human test subjects.
Now, the U.S. Energy Department illustrates the ability to see bacterial cells magnetic fields via
electron microscopy, which marks a milestone both for microscopy and for scientific rendering of

When we look at samples prepared in the conventional way, we have to make many assumptions
about their properties based on their final state, but with the new technique, we can now observe
these processes first hand, Prozorov explains. It can help us understand the dynamics of
macromolecule aggregation, nanoparticle self assembly, and the effects of electric and magnetic
fields on that process. This bears significant implications for biotechnological applications,
especially in light of recent research regarding the use of magnetic heating to eradicate bacteria
from surfaces within the human body.
People get metal parts implanted all the time to compensate for injuries or very old body parts.
These pieces range from metal plates to pins to artificial joints, but they all serve relatively similar
purposes holding bones together. The problem that comes from this from time to time is that
bacteria inside a patient s body eventually find these metal surfaces and seek refuge on or in them.
Ordinarily, physicians recommend surgery to get rid of those bacteria, but new research suggests
that surgery may no longer be necessary; rather, it may be possible to get the same result with the
non invasive alternative of magnetic heating.
These bacteria can be very difficult to remove because they form biofilms thin sheets that form a
viscous, protective membrane of sorts like plaque on enamel. Even though this only happens to

Serial Killers Serial killers have struck fear in the hearts of people, yet the public remains

Furthermore, by indentifying the behaviors that are exhibited by serial killers, law enforcement
professionals are able to gather information about these serial killers that will assist in the

Michael H. Stone in The Anatomy of Evil states that there are several factors that influence a serial
killer s behavior. The factors that may influence behavior are presented in a nature versus nurture
model with occasional factors falling into a category of mixed and/or unknown origins (201). The
factors that Stone considers to pertain to an individual s natural environment include mental illness
that is coupled with psychosis, schizophrenia, manic depression, autism, and Aspergers Syndrome.
Also included in the list of natural factors are mental illnesses without psychosis such as ADD and
ADHD, alcoholism, epilepsy, and an inordinate sexual drive (201). Personality disorders are
considered to be inherent to an individual and are therefore considered to be a part of an individual
s natural environment; personality disorders include being antisocial, psychopathic, schizoid,
sadistic, paranoid, and/or impulsive aggressive (201). Stone identifies nurture factors as parental
physical/sexual/verbal abuse, parental abandonment and/or neglect, the loss of a parent, absence of
a father, separation and/or divorce of the parental unit before the child is 16, and brain disease or
damage (201). The factors that Stone considers to be attributed to mixed or unknown origins
include paraphilia, juvenile delinquency, substance abuse, alcoholism, conduct disorders that are

Relativism And Moral Nihilism
As the weed of secularization continues to spread its roots through the belly of western
civilization, its critical that Christians properly discern its damaging effects on our society s
sexual moral compass. As a culture, it seems what is acceptable changes every few months with
little reasoning or clear logic. Confused, disoriented, and unable to draw a straight line between
wrong and right, our culture s moral compass is spinning. We are drifting off to sea in a ship
commanded by drunk captain, name Moral Relativism.
Moral relativism, collateral damage from secularization and postmodernism, looks past Christianity
s objectivism and appeals to the culture to govern its own sexual morality. Acknowledging the
failures of past generations, it demands that we are smarter, and wiser, than our religious
ancestors. Empirically, we have grown and evolved into a superior version of our species. Even
biology is incompetent and no longer able to accurately define our sexual identities and genders.
The doors are open wide for any interpretations of sexual expressions and identities to stroll inside.
Our inclusivity is now breeding with moral relativism to create a new monster, moral nihilism.
Whereas you might have once been able to explain away how relativism and nihilism are
entirely different philosophical categories, that doesn t work now. The lines between them are
now extremely blurry; our drunk moral ship captain is unable to see where one begins and other
ends. Without an objective moral anchor, our society will be carried by every wave of worldly
sinful passion. What began as an attempt to be kind and coexist has malformed into an inclusivity
that has no choice but to allow whatever perversions may come. Without some level of sexual
exclusivity, it loses meaning and purpose; nihilism is born. We need to moral boundaries to
preserve substance.
Humanity has always used exclusivity as way to maintain value and integrity. Something must be
rare for it to be of great worth. This is true for currency, jewelry, athletes, and consumer products.
Its simple supply and demand. If we have lots of something in a restrained fashion is becomes a
commodity and possess little intrinsic value. However, if an item is rare,

When Saturday Comes Along One Can Only Hope Hope For A
When Saturday comes along one can only hope hope for a lazy morning filled with back to back
episodes of cartoons. However, only in a perfect world can we watch back to back episodes
without commercial breaks. For children that world is non existent at the moment. Many times
the commercials that come after Phineas and ferb or Spongebob are as enjoyable as the show
itself. It seems like children enjoy keeping their eyes glued to the television screen more than they
should. According to Jennifer Pomeranz, , mentions that the FCT (Federal Trade Commision)

This can be problematic because the ads children see after shows can shape all sorts of habits
into them : food preferences, norms, tastes, behaviors, and preferred portion sizes are
established during childhood and adolescence and are very difficult to change (Pomeranz). That
is to say that the ads that children see after shows can have profound impacts in a child s life.
Watching a repetition of a sugary cereal commercial can influence a child into buying that
product when grocery shopping. Children are power holders and can shape the buying habits of
a family: two to fourteen year olds have sway over 500 billion a year in household purchasings
(Calvert). Children really do hold power in a family. They can become targets and fall under the
influence of advertisers. In return, advertisers can make children want needs that they don t
really need. Therefore, conflict can arise when a child is denied a product by a parent. There are
some ads that can influence a child s buying habit while others can hammer in trends into a child,
influence certain actions or habits. Some commercials can become problematic for children. For
instance, the Pakistan Observer mentions that a television commercial of a biscuit manufacturing
company shows a youth jumping off an apartment to force his girlfriend to marry him (Pakistan
Observer). Imagine if a child or adolescent were exposed to this commercial on a daily basis. This
type of ad can have a

The Supreme Court Ruling On Gay Marriages

marriages. Forewarning, this post will be long because I have more than just an opinion to

my true perspective and opinion regarding gaymarriages. (and gay people in general as a Christian)
A few months ago I faced a difficult time in my life. I was homeless and I had nowhere to stay
with my newborn baby. To my dismay, there was no family who would have the ability to take me
in. They had helped me enough in their eyes regarding sheltering me, so I was abruptly kicked out
of my grandmothers house I was staying in and face the option to find shelter in a homeless shelter.
But let me back up a second. A couple weeks before my life made a turn for the worse, I met a
girl on Facebook who was a photographer. We collaborated together on eventually meeting up to
take pictures of my newborn, however, at that time I did not have any money because I was on
maternity leave and not working.
Looking at her beautiful work as a photographer, I knew one day I would have her take pictures of
my baby I just did not know when.
Then suddenly one day she messaged me and offered me free pictures of my newborn in exchange
of being able to build her newborn portfolio.
Thrilled at her offer, I jumped at the opportunity, literally jumping in my car the same day she made
the offer.

We Can Then Continue For Graphing
We can then continue to graphing: Even though we can see that the damage multiplier goes
down as you acquire more Armor or MR. From the Effective Health formula we can see that EH
increases linearly with Resistances, because even though there is a fraction, it still fits with the
y = mx + b format, where in the example, the y intercept is 500 and the slope is 5, if we expand
the equation. Additionally, the domain is x 0 because it is impossible to have less than 0
Resistances in the game and the range is y 500, because that is what I set the base to be. We can
see that there is a 1% increase in EH per point of Resistance, a linear increase in EH. In the instance
of the example graph, I used 500 Health and 0 Resistances as a base. At... Show more content on

We can convert those values into terms of Gold per stat point to get: 1 Gold per 0.05 Armor 1
Gold per 0.056 Magic Resist 1 Gold per 0.375 Health Using that we can then generate an
equation to find the values of when the cost of a Resistance is equal to the cost of Health.
Therefore telling us when to buy more Health versus when to buy more Resistances, depending
on the value of the other. Since 1 Gold of HP grants a person EH equal to 0.375 + (0.375
Resistances100), and 1 Gold of Armor grants EH equivalent to 0.05100Health Points, equating
these two will allow us to find out when they are of equal value, like so: 0.375 + (0.375
Resistances100) = 0.05100Health Points We can then rearrange this equation in terms of HP to
become: Health Points = 750 + (7.5Resistances) Then create a table of values: Resistances Health
0 750 100 1500 200 2250 300 3000 400 3750 And graph to become: The line produced by the
linear graph represents when the cost of HP and Resistances are equal, telling us that when one
s HP is above the line, buying HP grants less EH for the same cost, compared to buying a
Resistance, and when a player s HP is below the line, buying HP would be grant more EH per
Gold than buying Resistances. With all characters in the game having a starting maximum HP of
between 478 and 626, and starting Resistance values between 16 and 31, it is clear that because all
characters have statistics that can be plotted under the line, at

involved patients and families in monthly interdisciplinary meetings to promote self efficacy and
quality of life. With the help of the interdisciplinary team Deirdre has worked collaboratively to
address and reinforce nutritional needs, social/family issues, barriers to care, and safety concerns.
All of her primary care patients have maintained a goal of 100% for dialysisadequacy (benchmark is

Deirdre noted a downward trend of a veteran pts access. With quick intervention the access resulted
in a patent access with better clearances for this patient, and the preservation of the dialysis access.
During the transitioning process to the new hemodialysis unit, Ms. Conlon anticipated the
challenges acquired by learning to set up and use new water equipment in an acute situation. In
response to this, Ms. Conlon created and implemented a reverse osmosis flow sheet to assist her
colleagues with the quick set up of the portable RO in the ICU care setting. This tool resulted in a
smoother transition for her colleagues, improvement in the delivery of care to the acute dialysis

generation s teenagers have changed. We can say that this generation became corrupted. Filipino
teenagers before doesn t act this way. They were polite and respectful. Most of the teenagers
before are really well trained and disciplined.
The main reason that made the teenagers today different from before is the influence of
technology. Back then there were no high tech gadgets. Not like today that we are exposed to
many things good or bad. We have the internet, media, and technology. They don t have that
before. We can say that everything they did was through hard work. We teenager grew up in this
generation and we got used to it, so if we try to imagine that we lived in the same way they did
before, it would be hard. No cellphone, no internet, no computers? We might think that it would be a
disaster. The influence of technology is

Lagoon 620 Catamaran Review
Overview:
The Lagoon 620 Catamaran was designed for the ultimate luxury experience. The vessel is
simply big with an emphasis on space and comfort. The comfort extends far beyond the interior
and makes itself known in how the boat sails. For a catamaran of such an impressive scale, the
vessel was engineered to remain stable and perform well in any sea conditions. This Lagoon 620
Catamaran Review will focus on each aspect of the 620 and how it measures up to the expectations
of a sailor.
Accommodation:
The main draw of the 620 is its incredible capacity for everything. The vessel was built on a large
scale that can house all passengers in comfort. The boat is almost a hotel room that can maneuver
over water. The cockpit, galley, and saloon... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is 62 feet long and 31 feet wide, making it decidedly bigger than your traditional catamaran.
The size shouldn t fool you, however. The vessel is stable and the size probably works in its
favor in this capacity. The motion of the boat is not as obvious as with a smaller vessel, creating a
smoother ride. Weather conditions also have a lesser impact onboard the 620, so controlling the
vessel is practically unaffected by moderate seas or rain.
Under Sail:
The advantage of a vessel of this size is that it is more difficult to displace by waves and weather.
The design is sold and massive, so the boat is almost like a boulder in the water in relation to the
seas. The 620 can cut a swath through the water cleanly and efficiently with almost no effort. The
vessel creates the illusion that you are in command of not only the vessel, but the sea as well. This
boat certainly makes you feel like royalty!
Interior:
Luxuriousness bordering on opulence is the best way to describe the interior of the 620. The
cabins are huge and can accommodate more people without piling everyone on top of each
other. The saloon and galley have enough space to allow passengers to spread out and relax or
entertain each other. The cook can also communicate with passengers due to open design that
increases the space and lends itself to socializing. Storage space is ample and there is no worry that
comfort or personal items will need to be sacrificed to make room for

Sharpen The Saw Analysis
Sharpen the saw . I know for me I forget a lot of the time that in order to be successful I should take
care of myself first. Remembering to take care of myself has never been a leadership habit I have
been good at. My previous supervisor who was also a good friend of mine was good at trying to
remind me to do things for me.
It is apparent that not only should it be to take care of myself physically and emotionally, but also
to keep up with the times. A lot of the timeshe would make sure to send me on housing
conferences, and leadership conferences because there is always something new to learn in an ever
changing world. The idea is to keep up with those changes, especially since every year was a

I am still working with the college volleyball program, and I have started working with the local
club volleyball as I always do every season. Things now are a little chaotic, and less organized,
but I am starting to have to make myself understand what is most important and what is not. It
has become a lot easier lately because I know working with the college volleyball program it is
more for experience, and not so much a job especially since it is a volunteer basis, and not a paid
position. This takes a lot of stress off each day because it is not a true responsibility unless I want
it to be.
The third and final weakness is Begin with the end in mind . The ability to envision in your
mind what you cannot at present see with your eyes. It is based on the principle that all things
are created twice . (Covey 1989) I am person who tends to do things in the moment. I forget a lot
of the time what the end product is supposed to be. I know what I must do to get to the end
product, but during the process I have a habit of looking at what needs to be done in order to move
on to whatever is next. This habit can sometimes be detrimental to the success of the project I am

Neuropathic Pain Case Study
Many clinical conditions require bone or tissue regeneration and current therapeutic options
(pharmacotherapy, neurosurgical lesioning, and anesthetic blocks) do not provide effective long
term relief associated with the accompanied neuropathic pain. Regenerative therapy uses a patient s
own tissues to initiate the healing process. Two regenerative treatments currently being offered are
stem celland platelet rich plasma therapy. The use of adult stem cells for bone and tissue
regeneration has gained much focus. This unique population of pluripotent cells has been isolated

2015). The goal of regenerative medicine is to restore function through therapy at levels such as
the gene, cell, tissue, or organ. For stem cells, physicians will obtain a patient s own stem cells by
aspirating tissue from the patient s hip bone or from their fat cells. These cells are centrifuged down
to identify and separate specific primitive cells that will help heal tissues (Alessandri et al., 2004).
For PRP, a patient s own blood is used and centrifuged down to obtain healing growth factors and
the platelets (Pantou et al., 2012). These are rich in protein to help stimulate healing. Once these
products are obtained, doctors are able to re introduce them into the patient s injured tissues.
Regeneration of tissues and ligaments have accomplished significant improvement in patient
outcomes without surgical intervention.
Discussion
Stem Cells Stem cells are unique cells that have self renewing properties and are able to
differentiate into one or many different specialized cell types. Pluripotent stem cells are
generally abundant in embryonic or fetal tissues, but the use of discarded embryos as sources of
these cells raises many ethical problems. Thus, adult stem cells are commonly used because they
can differentiate into a wider variety of cell types: bone marrow, adipose tissue, and skin tissue
cells (Alessandri et al., 2004). The use of adult stem cells has resulted in several advantages
including a low

Mcdonald s Organizational Behavior
McDonald s and Its Crisis
What should a company do when its core product is considered unhealthy or even harmful by the
public? Is it even possible for such a company survive and thrive; or will it have to shut down its
business? McDonald s fast food has for a long time been considered unhealthy by the public. In
recent years, the health conscious trends have become increasingly popular. Moreover, many
scientific studies and findings have surfaced and successfully confirmed that children s increasing
intake of fast food, which often contains high sodium content, sugars, saturated fats, and calories,
for a long period of time would lead to childhood obesity. Moreover, obese children have a much

Furthermore, the corporation was heavily condemned by the public for exploiting children market
and causing childhood obesity. Indeed, McDonald s has been using advertising which mainly
targeted children. As a result, according to the survey to American school student in 1996, 96
percent of all children could identify Ronald McDonald (Cohen, 2011, p8 5). How was McDonald
s able to achieve the above result? McDonald s children marketing strategies were very simple but
extremely effective to give small toys as a treatment to children in order to appeal to their interests.
With the repeated uses of this psychological influencing tactic, children would subconsciously make
a connection between McDonald s and toys. Therefore, children, who were under the influences of
McDonald s marketing strategies, could not help to think of McDonald s whenever thinking of toys.
The plaintiff, Monet Parham, a California mother of two, sued McDonald s overly exploiting
children market on Oct 2010 (Dan, 2011).She claimed that McDonald s gave out alluring toys that
come with the meals in order to lure kids into unhealthy diet. The mother also stated that
McDonald s make it so much harder to say no to her kids when they are really want those toys

the cognitive maturity to understand the persuasive intent of advertising (York, 2010). Later on, the

U.s. Immigration Policy Policies Essay
U.S. immigration policy has always been an important topic debated by Presidential candidates for
decades. Immigration reform has been ignored by Congress, leaving decisions up to the President
and Supreme Court. In the meantime, the hopes of about eleven million illegal immigrants in the
U.S., as well as future rules for legal immigration, rest on the shoulders of those decision makers.
Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump both agree that changes to U.S. immigration policy are needed;
however, Donald Trump is taking a radical approach suggesting mass deportation and completely
revamping U.S. immigration policy, whereas, Hillary Clinton is overlooking some issues and wants
to continue to support the policy set forth by the Obama Administration. Regardless of who
becomes President, they will have a hard time getting these issues passed through Congress.
Deportation
Donald Trump s signature topic during his presidential campaign has been illegal immigration. He
has generated headlines and controversial remarks during his plans for change. In 2015, when he
announced he was running for president, Donald Trump claimed Mexico was sending all their
rapist and violent criminals into the U.S. (Gabbatt, 2015). He also called for the deportation of an
estimated eleven million illegal immigrants. Donald Trump has built his campaign on his
willingness to deport a projected eleven million illegal immigrants; however, most recently his
stance has changed. In a recent interview, Fox News

What Is Infrared Pading
When it comes to repairing asphalt pavement, timing is critical. The longer that a break in the
pavement is allowed to go without proper repair, the more likely it becomes that you will incur
extensive damage that will be costly to resolve. Once a pothole develops, it can allow a substantial
amount of water to reach the pavement s supporting foundation. The foundation becomes eroded,
additional potholes form and existing potholes turn into craters that can cause serious damage to
vehicles and painful injuries to pedestrians. What Causes Potholes? Although potholes can
potentially result from improper installation of the asphalt pavement, most of the time, they are
weather related. If cracks are not filled, water can leak underneath the pavement. Sand and gravel
may collect in the crack as... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To understand why infrared paving is an ideal choice for repairing potholes, it might be helpful
to review how traditional repairs are typically made. In most cases, the contractor would remove
the damaged area by cutting it out with a saw before installing new asphalt. This method leaves
a seam where the new asphalt meets the existing pavement, and this seam is a weak point that
could fail, allowing water penetration to occur. Furthermore, if the weather is quite cold, the
contractor might have to resort to a temporary patch using a cold mix material, requiring a
second repair once conditions permit. Infrared paving eliminates cold seams and can be
performed in cooler weather than most hot mix repairs. In fact, infrared paving can often be
performed in the middle of winter in the Connecticut area. Infrared technology is used to heat and
soften the area needing repair as well as a small part of the surrounding pavement. Once the area
has been softened enough, the asphalt is worked and new asphalt is mixed in if it is needed. The
repaired area is seamlessly fused to the existing pavement for a strong, durable repair that is often
virtually

is La Segunda DivisionВёbut peoples main focus is La Primera Division because the best of the
best play in this division. As well this is where most of the fuel to the fire is, especially with the
rivalry between Real Madrid and Barcelona. The game becomes much more intense when these two
teams are even mentioned.
In order to grasp a full understanding of the phenomenon with Spanish futbol and La Liga we
need to have some back ground knowledge of how it came to be. A man by the name of Jose
Maria Acha first proposed the idea of Spain having a national futbol team. After much debate of
how many teams there were going to be in La Liga, they came to the agreement that there would
be ten, and in 1929 the Primera Division was established. La Primera Liga is like royalty in
futbol, they are the best of the best futbolistas, and not anyone can be a part of this division. The
success of La Liga is all due to the biggest rivals in soccer history, Real Madrid and F.C.
Barcelona who are basically the biggest and most successful teams in La Primera Division. Both
these teams were founding members and have never been de ranked to Segunda Division. Due to
the fact that these teams have been at war for over eighty years shows us that the spirit of futbol

Disability Discrimination And Americans With Disability...
1. Introduction In the field of legal research and practices, it is against the law to discriminate any
person against his/her disability in various areas of their lives. Today, discrimination against
disability has become a complete law by which a person can sue the other party for being
discriminated on any impairment. In the United States, the law is covered by Americans with
DisabilityAct (ADA). The law prevents one party (specifically employers) to discriminate other
party (particularly employees) on the basis of their physical impairments. The purpose of this
paper is to discuss and analyze disability discrimination. The paper will include detail description
and history of disability discrimination and Americans with Disability Act (ADA). The paper will
also include three cases showing background, issues, questions and holdings of each case. Finally,
opinion will be provided for the paper and conclusion will be drawn on the basis of discussion.

The Herpes Simplex Virus
Herpes simplex virus (HSV) is a virus that affects many people in the world. This paper will discuss
the history, taxonomy, structure, and replication of the virus. The common symptoms, treatments,
and vaccinations will also be discussed.
The herpes simplex virus was first mentioned as far back as 400 BC. Hippocrates wrote about
symptoms of lesions. He used the word heparin which means to creep or to crawl. Between 14AD
and 37AD Emperor Tiberius banned kissing from public festivals and ceremonies because he
understood that the disease was passed from person to person. In 1893 Emile Vidal proved that the
herpes simplex virus is transmitted from person to person. The virus was first isolated in 1925 by
Frederic Parker and Robert N. Nye by growing the virus in vive using rabbit s testis cells. The
Herpes simplex virus is commonly known as just herpes.
HSV is part of the family herpetoviridae and the genus simplexvirus. There are two strains of this
virus: HSV1 known as the oral infection and HSV2 known as the genital infection. The structure of
the virus is an enveloped, icosahedral capsid, and single linear double stranded DNA. The capsid
contains dsDNA, О± and ОІ proteins. The О± proteins regulate the reproductive cycle and block
the presentation of antigenic peptides on the host membrane. The ОІ proteins are in charge of the
viral nucleic acid metabolism and capsid proteins. The glycoprotein spikes are gB, gC, and gD.
There are many modes of transmission of the virus like

Comparing Medieval Chants and 20th Century Rap Essay
Comparing Medieval Chants and 20th Century Rap
Medieval chants and Twentieth Century rap are both musical forms that have many similarities and
differences. There are many aspects to these two musical forms.
These aspects include creation, development and history. In both their purpose and audience, chants
and rap can be both similar, but at the same time, completely different.
The way that they are performed and set up, or structured, is where the most evident differences
occur. The Medieval chant, also known as the Gregorian chant, has been credited to
Pope Gregory I. Medieval chants originated around the year 600 A.D. The purpose behind the
creation of chant was to fight the political, and somewhat social, stress ... Show more content on

Medieval Period, there was hardly any division between sacred and secular music. Even though
the chants were known by all the people, there were still not considered the music of the people

Political Trends Of The Affordable Care Act
1.Identify political trends in your area (city, county, or state) that have contributed to or could
contribute to a crisis in a particular industry.
Several regulations imposed by governments can have an impact on organizations. Some
regulations have more effect on certain types of industries than others. The Affordable Care Act
does not necessarily affect a particular industry, but it does have consequences that could potentially
affect business owners and their employees. Under this health reform, employers with 50
employees or more are required to pay health insurance for their employees or face a penalty. The
Affordable Care Act limits the employer s options in choosing low cost insurance plans; this may
cause businesses to raise costs and reduce the hours of work and/or the wages paid to their
employees.
2.How do political and economic events comingle to create a crisis?
Both political and economic events can trigger a crisis. Political trends and laws are standards that
affect the way businesses operate. How a political trend affect business depends on the type of
industry that we are looking at; since some legislations are only directed to a certain type of
industry. Economic forces can also cause a crisis in an organization. Some factors such as the
unemployment rate, interest rate health care costs and others can definitely affect the economic
stability of any organization. Top management must consider political and economic trends that

Women In Euripides Greek Tragedy, Hippolytus
In Euripides Greek Tragedy, Hippolytus, he tells the familiar myth of a young man whose
stepmother falls in love with him. The female characters of Euripides are often nuanced with
dualistic characterizations. While Euripides may present Phaedra as noble for fighting her lustful
urges, he ultimately exposes her to the same petty nature as the very goddesses who inflict these
desires on her. All of the women in Hippolytusare viewed Eve like figures who lead men astray,
despite their intentions.
Greek mythology would have been widely known by Euripides audience and Phaedra s lineage is
no exception. Her mother, Paciphae, had slept with a bull and bore the Minotaur. The same
Minotaur Theseus would slay in the labyrinth. Her mother s monstrous sexual appetite taints
Phaedra s family. Phaedra s sister is also unlucky in romantic affairs as she is married to
Dionysius. In other versions of the Phaedra story, such as the Seneca play Phaedra; this ancestry is
the key reason for her unnatural attraction to her stepson. Nevertheless, even though Phaedra s
desire is derived from Aphrodite and she never acts upon it, her characterization is less favorable
than the womanizer Theseus. Christian theology often talks of the original sin in the Garden of
Eden. While both Adam and Eve eat of the fruit, it is Eve who offers the temptation to Adam. This

Origin Of Creation Myths
I have learned from the textbook that there are essentially two different ways that people have
sought to understand their origins. The first has to with storytelling in the creation (or origin)
myths. These myths are explanations of how a group of people decided their moral principles that
allowed them to establish a set of rules for their relationships with each other, nature, and the
supernatural world. The explanation of how these relationships worked and came to be further
created distinct cultural and societal structures that each member of that community would follow

ignored it. However, we have accomplished it, and who knows what advancement is coming.
Artificial intelligence, although nascent, is very popular and as Ray Kurtzweil suggests might be
possible within the next thirty year. Kurtzweil further... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The development of artificial intelligence, therefore, will benefit many, bringing about the
common good. Artificial intelligence applications are numerous. Schools can buy interactive
AI, which will never be bored or angry, to teach. Businesses can also benefit by hiring workers
who are never bored, complain, or strike. However, there are many obvious ethical issues
involved when dealing with artificial intelligence. First and most apparent, is that if we allow
artificial research to continue, many workers, especially labor workers, will lose their jobs due
directly to the development of artificial intelligence. This is absolutely unfair for these workers.
What are they going to do? How will they support their families? Many will become homeless or
turn to crime. The balance between the poor and the rich will be tipped. There will be few who
will enjoy this development, namely the business owners, who have control of the AI and are
independent of the lower class labor force. The rest will be in destitute. As we know, if only a
small portion of society does productive work, the economy will be in chaos. According to Tom
Shanks, a doctor for Applied Ethics at Markkula Center, when companies move toward robotics, it
is the company s responsibility to retrain employees who lost their jobs. (Machines)

The Many Languages of Australia and New Zealand
As of 2013, there are many languages spoken both in Australia and New Zealand. Having a history
dating as far as the 18th century, both countries constitute the Austral realm. Within its many
aspects, one of the most notorious is its language. Known by the humorous effect some of its
sentences and words provoke in people, the languageof the Austral realm has helped shape the
identity of Australia as well as New Zealandand has become an essential spectrum of their culture.
In spite of its variations and the reasons behind its current status, this research paper will be
focusing upon the four main languages of the Austral realm: English, New Zealand s and Australia
s sign language, Australian Indigenous language and the Maori language in New Zealand. Each
language has impacted the Austral realm in its own way and will be viewed both individually and
in comparison within the realm s two states. English s history, what constitutes the signs in New
Zealand s sign language, Australian accent... all of them are part of a culture both beautiful and
unique and should, therefore, be treated with the same care as one would treat any relic.
The Austral realm s languages are viewed by its people as more than only an idiom. Its evolution
throughout decades of history has transformed both Australia and New Zealand into a unique
society, filled with a mixture of words and idioms such as go for a burn and dog s breakfast, both of
which exemplifies some of the reasons of the worldwide

Claude Mckay Enslaved
Have you ever thought about how life would be like if you were a slave? Getting tired of
people controlling your life and wanting to seek your revenge? In Enslaved by Claude McKay,
it talks about a hatred world where white men treated African Americans unkind. African
Americans rarely had any time to spend with their families, couldn t afford to give them a variety
of foods. They felt oppressed, angry, denied; they wanted to seek revenge. Feeling the urge to
have equal rights with every race in the world. In contrast, they hated slavery; felt racial
prejudice against the world; wanted to seek revenge for their own freedom.
In this poem he uses an abundance of rhyme. Which means, a sound between words or at

my long suffering race, For weary centuries despised, oppressed, Enslaved and lynched, denied a
human place In the great life line of the Christian West. (Mckay). He uses rhyme to get his point
across that, everyone was mistreated during slavery and disinherited. The long suffering race
(McKay). refers to his own reference. Mckays life was a disaster during the 1800 s. Not only did
he wish to have a better life but others did as well.
Mckay also uses simile in his poem. A figure of speech using like or as . African
Americans compared their lives to a different issue to get their point across. My heart grows
sick with hate, becomes as lead. (Mckay). He is explaining that his heart turned soft while being
destroyed; never had enough money to feed himself or to support his family. Imagine living life
under someone s dictate all day everyday.
Another literary device he uses is metaphor. A figure of speech in which a word is
applied to an object or action which is not literally applicable. He describes his heart turning into
hate when the heart can t physically or emotionally do that. My heart grows sick

The Odyssey By Homer s Odyssey
Homer s Odyssey is the only surviving poem from a cycle of poems called the Nostoi ( the
Returns ), which told of the returns home of the various Greek heroes at Troy (Norcott, 2012).
The Odyssey is one of many accounts of the Greek heroes that took part in the Trojan War.
Odysseus story was just one that survived after all of these years. The story came out as an Epic
only because of how the people revered the heroes as they started many trends, such as Odysseus
Trojan horse. These epics lie at the beginning of the Western canon of literature, and have had an
enormous influence on the history of literature. (Homer, 2015). These writings were the beginning
of understanding and getting information across many nations. Among many translations, the basis
of the epithet is that the underlying message is important. The said message will be gone into
depth later on. Homer s works, which are about fifty percent speeches, provided models in
persuasive speaking and writing... (Homer, 2015). His works seemed too real. ...that were emulated
throughout the ancient and medieval Greek worlds. (Homer, 2015). You can say that The Odyssey
has influenced many generations. The style has been copied for many, many years and was at one
point the only way of writing or telling of monumental journeys like Odysseus . Odysseus
adventures and growth are much more prevalent in the Odyssey than those of any other character
(Lower, 2015). He begins on Calypso s island, where he has everything,

The Desperation On Johnny s Face
Stopping at the frightened and confused look John was giving him, Roy trailed off, I m sorry.
Too much, Johnny tried explaining.
I was talking too fast? And I was talking about too many subjects? Roy asked slowly.
Nodding, Johnny yawned and gasped.
Shhh, it s okay, Roy soothed, rubbing his arm. You have a lot of wounds on different parts of your
body.
Confused about why he had them, but unable to figure out how to ask, John just looked towards
Roy.
Not able to know words, tell me, clear up why, Johnny pleaded in his head, frustrated to feel as
though his mind was trying to think while being encased in mud.
Do you want to know what happened? Why you are hurting now? asked Roy, reading the
desperation on Johnny s face.
Nodding, John groaned as it set off a round of nauseous and increased the thumping inside his head.
Don t worry, you can t get sick, Roy assured him. The doctors have a tube going in your nose that
makes sure that it doesn t happen. I know it s not fun and itches, but it s better than getting sick.
Sighing, John leaned back on the bed and waited for Roy to begin explaining. Starting with the
shortened version of being caught in a fire that caused him to be thrown a bit, Roy then moved on
to let John know the various injuries that were caused by that. Once he went through that, Roy
pointed out each tube and what it was for, hoping that at some level Johnny was understanding it.
Considering how he looked however, Roy figured that most of the

The representation of the property being a duplex residence was made. (2)The representation of
the property being a duplex was false; Although the residence for sale had been listed as a
duplex, the property itself did not comply with the space necessary to fulfill a duplex standard.
Therefore, with this lack of space, the home did not uphold to the municipal code, which would
legally accept it as a duplex. (3)The representation was made recklessly without knowledge of its
truth. From the advertisement and information given by the sellers, we find that there are several
factors when it comes to the question of whether or not the representation was made recklessly
without the knowledge of its truth and as a positive assertion. The sellers disclosed the
information that the home had been previously divided and rented into a two family dwelling
which would lead one to think that it was in fact a duplex. Despite the layout of the home and

A Report On Child Care
A mother picks up her three year old son early from child care after concerns of a sudden onset
of a fever upon waking up from naptime. She was informed that he was fine in the morning
playing as usual and did not appear to be out of sorts as far as how he was acting. Diet was normal
and nothing different was giving to him for lunch or morning snack After the set naptime was up
the child seemed to have felt hotter than normal with a temperature of ninety nine point seven
degrees Fahrenheit and some sweating concerned the sitter. Initially she believed he might just
have early signs of the flu or strep and decided to give acetaminophen (Tylenol) to reduce the fever
and see in the morning how he feels. Through the course of the night the child wakes up with
aches and pains and small bumps on his face. First thing in the morning a call is made to the child
s pediatrician for the first available appointment. An initial assessment was taken by the nurse
revealing more information. The mother said the child care is out of a neighbor s house where
they watch around five kids ranging in age from six months four years old. Immunization records
are not required by her and mom admits she has neglected staying with the recommended schedule
and does not know the exact shots her son has received. The mother also noted that the week prior
she noticed one of the children had bumps on their arms and legs, however she thought they might
just be insect bites. The nurse then takes vitals

Longoria Character Analysis
I think Longoria s character shows a lot of discipline for doing what is enforced to do. We see
how violence has affected his life and other people s perspective of him. He started out in the
Army at a very young age and carried out the harsh tasks that he was given, no matter how cruel
they were. Longoria is a strong minded person. For him to carry out some of the assignments he
was given, it takes a different kind of person. For example, the incident with the people in the
village. He murdered a whole village of innocent people. To me, this shows that Longoria is
ruthless. In a sense, I would almost say that he has lost his mind. After years of killing like he did,
how does he not have Post Traumatic Stress Disorder? Most people that must go through and
witness the things like Longoria are scarred for the rest of their life. For example, my grandfather
was in the military during Vietnam. He would wake up screaming in the middle of the night,
fireworks and loud noises bothered him, among other little things that would trigger his PTSD.
Violenceeventually takes its toll and I think it got the best of Longoria. The first altercation between
Antonio and Longoria happens about half way through the book. Antonio travels to the park where
Longoria usually plays chess and sets out to killhim. He arrives and asks for Longoria but he hasn t
arrived yet. After waiting, Longoria finally arrives. Antonio, so full of hate and vengeance, attacks
Longoria with a pipe. Longoria was

Gastroenterology
Gastroenterology or GI is the study of the digestive system and disorders of the digestive system.
The digestive system consists of the mouth, pharynx, esophagus, stomach, small intestine and large
intestine, salivary glands, liver, gallbladder, and pancreas. Two common procedures of the
gastroenterology field include; Nissen Fundoplication or Nissen Fundoplasty and Gastrostomy Tube
Placement. Another procedure that will be covered is the Caesarean section, which is not a
procedure of the digestive system, but of the female reproductive system. The Nissen
Fundoplication has the CPT code of 43327 and is described as esophagogastic fundoplasty partial
or complete, laparotomy . This procedure is used to treat severe gastroesophageal reflux disease
(GERD) and can be used on patients who are at a high risk for aspiration, due to swallowing
difficulty or dysphagia. In cases of GERD, the muscular value, sphincter, which is at the junction of
the esophagus and stomachshould prevent acid from flowing upwards, however, in patients that
need this procedure the value does not stop stomach acid from entering the esophagus. This causes
burning pain or heart burn, in many cases heart burn can be treated with medication, but in extreme

Force Lab Results
During this lab, my partner and I had to figure out what our variables were in order to start the
tests. Our independent variables were mass, surface area, height, and the force applied. Our
dependent variable was the amount of time it took the object took to reach the ground. Lastly,
our control variables were the type of object, height, planet, force, temperature, and air
resistance. We then began our experiment by gathering all our materials for each factor that
was being tested. We did our tests several times to get an accurate answer. For some of the tests,
we could not figure out which object hit the ground first, so we used an app that recorded the
object falling. The app slowed the video down, so that we could see which object fell first. We
then recorded our results on a piece of paper. The purpose of this lab was to test the different
factors that affected a falling object. The factors that were being tested were mass, surface area,
height and force applied. We achieved this purpose by doing all of the different tests successfully.
I learned that the heavier an object or the more force you apply, that is how much faster the object
drops to the ground. I also learned the smaller the height of an object or the lesser the surface area,
that is how much faster the object drops to the ground.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

that occurred during this experiment was figuring out what objects would fit the criteria for the
certain factors that were being tested. We overcame this problem by choosing two objects and
visually judging which one would work best and used the one that we thought would work the best

Diversity As A Common And Ordinary Individual
Everyone is told at some point in their life that it is okay to be different, and should not be ashamed
of who they are. They are told that being unique should be encouraged and that they should not hide
from it. For this reason, diversity is exceptional. But what happens when excessive diversity divides
citizens, causing contentions? Who then can decide what diversity is and whether it is convenient,
especially after it may have caused a war? Entirely for this instance, diversity only matters to an
extent. It is fair enough to be different, but over emphasizing diversity can divide communities,
citizens, and students rather than unify them. There should be a balance between diversity and
uniformity, and one should not overpower another. In essence, a common and ordinary individual
should have the freedom to decide what diversity is and whether he or she wishes to exercise it or
not. Children, teens, and adults are constantly being told that diversity should be promoted, usually
by teachers, leaders, parents, and other acquaintances. Especially in the 21st century where being
different is progressively becoming acceptable, it seems as if people expect, or pressure them to
differentiate themselves among others. Be different, because everyone hates the same, boring person
, has become a threatening phrase to those who only wantto be themselves, but can t because they
fear of being that same, boring person. Instead of convincing others to be different and unique, it

Literary Theories on Marxism
The three analytic paragraphs on the song Zombie, the essay entitled The Closing of the (North)
American Mind, and the documentary film Born Into Brothels showcase the literary theories on
Marxism, Post colonial criticism, and feminism. The paragraphs show how people struggle in their
own societies in different aspects, politically and socially. Because all three pieces show struggle in
all texts, the unifying theme is how people react and overcome the struggles that they face.

Another post colonial issue seen in the text was the issue of power dynamics. Being a colony of
a powerful empire, the colonized are subjects of the colonizers. Because of rising tensions
between the colonized and the colonizers, both are struggling to gain power and influence over
the people. The IRA, being the colonized, prevents the colonizers from gaining any more power
in their land. The colonizers, on the other hand, lose its influence and power over the colonized as
the people became more aware and active in the independence movement. The independence
movement in Ireland started in the 1920s, a period when the British Empire was starting to fall
apart. The conflict between the two warring factions had resulted into a bloodbath since the start of
their resistance to the colonizers. Because of the hatred against the colonizers, the oppressed
colonized people fought back in order to remove them physically and mentally out of their land.
The power struggle between the two belligerent nations had disrupted peace in the country, which
resulted to many innocent deaths. This is evident in the text when the resistance fighters and the
colonizers are fighting with their tanks and their bombs, and their bombs and their guns (O
Riordan). War for power and influence had made Ireland into a dangerous society where its people
use force as a means of expressing their sentiments against colonial rule. Issues in

The Fear Of Zombies By Franklin D. Roosevelt
Kinemortophobia: The Fear of Zombies Franklin D. Roosevelt said one of the most
recognizable quotes in history during his first Inaugural Address: The Only Thing We Have to
Fear is Fear Itself! (Roosevelt) Fear is one of the most uncomfortable emotions that humans can
experience and it occurs all throughout a person s lifetime. Terror can also be a very powerful
tool to influence society and their decision making. Fear can drive a population to purchase a
product that they deem a necessity or advocate war. The existing fear of death and destruction in
Max Brook s World War Z led to influence survival choices of characters in order to prevent the
spread of the infection. Similar circumstances can be observed during World War I and II
through the use of propaganda encouraging US citizens to take part in the war effort. When
comparing the two scenarios, one is able to understand that both World War Z and the World
Wars were able to use the existing fear to influence society and society s decisions. Fear is an
existing emotion that begins in childhood and progresses into adulthood. Children ages zero to
two fear separation of parents, loud noises, and strangers while three to six year olds fear
imaginary beings such as ghost and monsters (Smith). It is understandable that fear progresses in
one s lifetime, morphing from childish fears into more real like scenarios. Propaganda, especially
during wartime, appealed more to the fears of adults, as artists were targeting that

Embracing Death:
A Rhetorical Look at Clendinen s The Good Short Life How does one want to die? That might be
a question too harsh for some to think about. So, maybe the correct question would be, how can one
embrace death? Everyone s answer to this question is more than likely going to be very diverse.
Do people embrace death and live every moment to the fullest until it is their time to go? One
man, Dudley Clendinen, a writer for the New York Times, did just that. His article is about his
intentions to end his own life at the young age of 66 rather than having his daughter and friends

extreme measure, but most people will have to make a decision for a family member who is no

readers should walk away from this article recognizing exactly what Clendinen s beliefs are on
death, and it ought to make them curious about their own thoughts and beliefs. At the very least,

In her introduction of The Death and life of Great American Cities, Jane Jacobs introduces city planning and presents the reader with real life view. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Jacobs addresses the most common idea of city planning as beautification and questions the effect it has on restoring a neighborhood. Jacobs states Handsome is as Handsome does. All that glitters are not gold (Jacobs 15). As much as the city can be beautified and full of parks and land it does not make up for the needs of the people. Jacob provides the example of a housing project and a lawn; Everyone in the housing project was upset and seem to have an opinion on having a lawn, when someone finally asked why and bothered to listen to the people, they realized that the people wanted a space to come together but unfortunately no one had bothered to ask. (15) Unfortunately, due to the lack of resources it is house projects like this that are often referred to as slums. Jacobs explains that ideally tax money would be used to fix the communities and allow for beautification. However due to economical stance of many neighborhoods and the city planning ideology it seems close to impossible. Jacobs writes Bankers, like planers have theories about cities on which they act... • 3. The Battle Of The Punic Wars Joel Medero History Western Civilization Professor Smail THE PUNIC WARS During the 3rd and 2nd centuries B.C., three wars were fought between Rome and Carthage. The name given to describe the wars Punic, is a divided word from the Latin and Greek words for Phoenician. The city of Carthage, situated in what is now Tunisia in North Africa, was founded in 814 B.C. by the Phoenicians. The first two wars were the longest 23 years and 17 years, separated by an interval of 23 years. The last and third war lasted only three years. It started 52 years after the end of the second Punic War. All three wars were won by Rome, which automatically emerged as the greatest military power in the Mediterranean Sea. The hostility of Carthage impelled Rome to build up its large army and create a strong navy just like the one Carthage had. Strong military leaders of the war for Carthage and his sons Hasdrubal and Hannibal. Rome s outstanding leaders were Scipio Africanus. Belief holds that Phoenician settlers from the Mediterranean port of Tyre discovered the city state of Carthage on the northern coast of Africa. By 265 B.C., Carthage was the richest and the most advanced city in the region, as well as its prominent naval power. Through Carthage had clashed forcefully with several other powers in the region, notably Greece, its relations with Rome were historically friendly, and its cities had signed several treaties defining trading rights over the years. The company was started by a hairdresser Dennis Paphitis who used to work in a salon. Product wise he started adding essential oils to the commercial hair color, as the smell of ammonia is quiet overwhelming his clients responded well to these less aggressive aromas. He then took this up as a passion and started understanding these ingredients and started working with a chemist on a small range of hair products. Eventually the hair product extended to a hand and body product category and finally skin care. Dennis felt this was an opportunity that was approaching his way. Finally in 1996 he quit the salon and began his extensive research and development in the field of cosmetics. He felt that the marketing of his product was limited just to the salon. The next few years he along with the chemist intensely spent time setting up a foundation for a product line and development. All this was done ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Essay On Bipa Exposure We set out to determine the extent of dental material related BPA exposure comparing the urinary BPA concentrations before and after dental treatment among patients receiving BisGMA based composites and sealants. Our findings suggest that there is a transient lasting up to 14 days to 6 months increase in BPA concentrations following treatment [35, 38], whether negative health effects can result from this exposure is yet to be determined. Dental composite restorations and dental sealants have revolutionized the field of esthetic and preventive dentistry. (2016) and Moreira et al. (2017) reported that BPA levels were back to baseline by 14 days and one month respectively. Martin et al. (2005), Kang et al. (2011) and Moreira et al. (2017) had small sample sizes of 19, 22, 20 respectively, compared with Maserejian et al. (2016) who used a sample size of 91 patients. The different results could be due to the difference in the composition of dental material, the sample sizes, the amount of material applied, differences in application/polymerization of the materials, laboratory methodologies or limits of detection. Martin et al. (2005) and Kang et al. (2011) studies were conducted 6 12 years ago when environmental exposures to BPA from other sources were high and when the assays for measuring BPA were not as robust/accurate. Maserejian et al. (2016) was the only study that followed participants for over one month. This study found minimal differences from baseline and 6 months, suggesting that BPA exposure from dental treatment results in a transient increase in urinary BPA concentrations. Two studies, Maserejian et al. (2016) and Kingman et al. (2012), reported no association between the number of pre existing resin based restorations and concentrations of BPA in urine. This suggests that BPA concentrations are not due to release of BPA from degradation BisGMA based dental ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Essay On Magnetic Field Summer of 2017 saw UT Southwestern Medical Center make considerable strides in biotech with the development of high frequency alternating magnetic fields to destroy bacterial films on the surfaces of artificial joints in the body simply by heating the joints themselves. These bacterial infections tend to be of great detriment to patients, and they prove impeccably resilient to antibiotics. Since then, that same research has been furthered to prove itself on human test subjects. Now, the U.S. Energy Department illustrates the ability to see bacterial cells magnetic fields via electron microscopy, which marks a milestone both for microscopy and for scientific rendering of magnetic nano objects in liquid and bacterial cell magnetic fields... When we look at samples prepared in the conventional way, we have to make many assumptions about their properties based on their final state, but with the new technique, we can now observe these processes first hand, Prozorov explains. It can help us understand the dynamics of macromolecule aggregation, nanoparticle self assembly, and the effects of electric and magnetic fields on that process. This bears significant implications for biotechnological applications, especially in light of recent research regarding the use of magnetic heating to eradicate bacteria from surfaces within the human body. People get metal parts implanted all the time to compensate for injuries or very old body parts. These pieces range from metal plates to pins to artificial joints, but they all serve relatively similar purposes holding bones together. The problem that comes from this from time to time is that bacteria inside a patient s body eventually find these metal surfaces and seek refuge on or in them. Ordinarily, physicians recommend surgery to get rid of those bacteria, but new research suggests that surgery may no longer be necessary; rather, it may be possible to get the same result with the non invasive alternative of magnetic heating. These bacteria can be very difficult to remove because they form biofilms thin sheets that form a viscous, protective membrane of sorts like plaque on enamel. Even though this only happens to ... The factors that may influence behavior are presented in a nature versus nurture model with occasional factors falling into a category of mixed and/or unknown origins (201). The factors that Stone considers to pertain to an individual s natural environment include mental illness that is coupled with psychosis, schizophrenia, manic depression, autism, and Aspergers Syndrome. Also included in the list of natural factors are mental illnesses without psychosis such as ADD and ADHD, alcoholism, epilepsy, and an inordinate sexual drive (201). Personality disorders are considered to be inherent to an individual and are therefore considered to be a part of an individual s natural environment; personality disorders include being antisocial, psychopathic, schizoid, sadistic, paranoid, and/or impulsive aggressive (201). Relativism And Moral Nihilism As the weed of secularization continues to spread its roots through the belly of western civilization, its critical that Christians properly discern its damaging effects on our society s sexual moral compass. As a culture, it seems what is acceptable changes every few months with little reasoning or clear logic. Confused, disoriented, and unable to draw a straight line between wrong and right, our culture s moral compass is spinning. We are drifting off to sea in a ship commanded by drunk captain, name Moral Relativism. Moral relativism, collateral damage from secularization and postmodernism, looks past Christianity s objectivism and appeals to the culture to govern its own sexual morality. Acknowledging the failures of past generations, it demands that we are smarter, and wiser, than our religious ancestors. Empirically, we have grown and evolved into a superior version of our species. Even biology is incompetent and no longer able to accurately define our sexual identities and genders. The doors are open wide for any interpretations of sexual expressions and identities to stroll inside. Our inclusivity is now breeding with moral relativism to create a new monster, moral nihilism. Whereas you might have once been able to explain away how relativism and nihilism are entirely different philosophical categories, that doesn t work now. The lines between them are now extremely blurry; our drunk moral ship captain is unable to see where one begins and other ends. Without an objective moral anchor, our society will be carried by every wave of worldly sinful passion. What began as an attempt to be kind and coexist has malformed into an inclusivity that has no choice but to allow whatever perversions may come. Without some level of sexual exclusivity, it loses meaning and purpose; nihilism is born. We need to moral boundaries to preserve substance. Humanity has always used exclusivity as way to maintain value and integrity. Something must be rare for it to be of great worth. This is true for currency, jewelry, athletes, and consumer products. Watching a repetition of a sugary cereal commercial can influence a child into buying that product when grocery shopping. Additionally, the domain is x 0 because it is impossible to have less than 0 Resistances in the game and the range is y 500, because that is what I set the base to be. Therefore telling us when to buy more Health versus when to buy more Resistances, depending on the value of the other. Since 1 Gold of HP grants a person EH equal to 0.375 + (0.375 Resistances100), and 1 Gold of Armor grants EH equivalent to 0.05100Health Points, equating these two will allow us to find out when they are of equal value, like so: 0.375 + (0.375 Resistances100) = 0.05100Health Points We can then rearrange this equation in terms of HP to become: Health Points = 750 + (7.5Resistances) Then create a table of values: Resistances Health 0 750 100 1500 200 2250 300 3000 400 3750 And graph to become: The line produced by the linear graph represents when the cost of HP and Resistances are equal, telling us that when one s HP is above the line, buying HP grants less EH for the same cost, compared to buying a Resistance, and when a player s HP is below the line, buying HP would be grant more EH per Gold than buying Resistances. With quick intervention the access resulted in a patent access with better clearances for this patient, and the preservation of the dialysis access. During the transitioning process to the new hemodialysis unit, Ms. Conlon anticipated the challenges acquired by learning to set up and use new water equipment in an acute situation. In response to this, Ms. Conlon created and implemented a reverse osmosis flow sheet to assist her colleagues with the quick set up of the portable RO in the ICU care setting. How was McDonald s able to achieve the above result? McDonald s children marketing strategies were very simple but extremely effective to give small toys as a treatment to children in order to appeal to their interests. With the repeated uses of this psychological influencing tactic, children would subconsciously make a connection between McDonald s and toys. The foundation becomes eroded, additional potholes form and existing potholes turn into craters that can cause serious damage to vehicles and painful injuries to pedestrians. What Causes Potholes? Although potholes can potentially result from improper installation of the asphalt pavement, most of the time, they are weather related. If cracks are not filled, water can leak underneath the pavement. Sand and gravel may collect in the crack as... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To understand why infrared paving is an ideal choice for repairing potholes, it might be helpful to review how traditional repairs are typically made. In most cases, the contractor would remove the damaged area by cutting it out with a saw before installing new asphalt. This method leaves a seam where the new asphalt meets the existing pavement, and this seam is a weak point that could fail, allowing water penetration to occur. Furthermore, if the weather is quite cold, the contractor might have to resort to a temporary patch using a cold mix material, requiring a second repair once conditions permit. Infrared paving eliminates cold seams and can be performed in cooler weather than most hot mix repairs. In fact, infrared paving can often be performed in the middle of winter in the Connecticut area. Infrared technology is used to heat and soften the area needing repair as well as a small part of the surrounding pavement. Once the area has been softened enough, the asphalt is worked and new asphalt is mixed in if it is needed. The repaired area is seamlessly fused to the existing pavement for a strong, durable repair that is often virtually ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A man by the name of Jose Maria Acha first proposed the idea of Spain having a national futbol team. After much debate of how many teams there were going to be in La Liga, they came to the agreement that there would be ten, and in 1929 the Primera Division was established. La Primera Liga is like royalty in futbol, they are the best of the best futbolistas, and not anyone can be a part of this division. The success of La Liga is all due to the biggest rivals in soccer history, Real Madrid and F.C. Barcelona who are basically the biggest and most successful teams in La Primera Division. The common symptoms, treatments, and vaccinations will also be discussed. The herpes simplex virus was first mentioned as far back as 400 BC. Hippocrates wrote about symptoms of lesions. He used the word heparin which means to creep or to crawl. Between 14AD and 37AD Emperor Tiberius banned kissing from public festivals and ceremonies because he understood that the disease was passed from person to person. In 1893 Emile Vidal proved that the herpes simplex virus is transmitted from person to person. The virus was first isolated in 1925 by Frederic Parker and Robert N. Nye by growing the virus in vive using rabbit s testis cells. The Herpes simplex virus is commonly known as just herpes. HSV is part of the family herpetoviridae and the genus simplexvirus. There are two strains of this virus: HSV1 known as the oral infection and HSV2 known as the genital infection. The structure of the virus is an enveloped, icosahedral capsid, and single linear double stranded DNA. The capsid contains dsDNA, О± and ОІ proteins. The О± proteins regulate the reproductive cycle and block the presentation of antigenic peptides on the host membrane. The ОІ proteins are in charge of the viral nucleic acid metabolism and capsid proteins. The glycoprotein spikes are gB, gC, and gD. There are many modes of transmission of the virus like ... The Affordable Care Act does not necessarily affect a particular industry, but it does have consequences that could potentially affect business owners and their employees. Under this health reform, employers with 50 employees or more are required to pay health insurance for their employees or face a penalty. The female characters of Euripides are often nuanced with dualistic characterizations. While Euripides may present Phaedra as noble for fighting her lustful urges, he ultimately exposes her to the same petty nature as the very goddesses who inflict these desires on her. All of the women in Hippolytusare viewed Eve like figures who lead men astray, despite their intentions. Phaedra s sister is also unlucky in romantic affairs as she is married to Dionysius. In other versions of the Phaedra story, such as the Seneca play Phaedra; this ancestry is the key reason for her unnatural attraction to her stepson. Nevertheless, even though Phaedra s desire is derived from Aphrodite and she never acts upon it, her characterization is less favorable than the womanizer Theseus. • 50. Force Lab Results During this lab, my partner and I had to figure out what our variables were in order to start the tests. Our independent variables were mass, surface area, height, and the force applied. Our dependent variable was the amount of time it took the object took to reach the ground. Lastly, our control variables were the type of object, height, planet, force, temperature, and air resistance. We then began our experiment by gathering all our materials for each factor that was being tested. We did our tests several times to get an accurate answer. For some of the tests, we could not figure out which object hit the ground first, so we used an app that recorded the object falling. The app slowed the video down, so that we could see which object fell first. We then recorded our results on a piece of paper. The purpose of this lab was to test the different factors that affected a falling object. The factors that were being tested were mass, surface area, height and force applied. We achieved this purpose by doing all of the different tests successfully. I learned that the heavier an object or the more force you apply, that is how much faster the object drops to the ground. I also learned the smaller the height of an object or the lesser the surface area, that is how much faster the object drops to the ground.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For the surface area of the two papers, the one that was crumpled and had less surface area fell first. For the height of the two highlighters, the one that had smaller height fell first. Finally, for the force applied to the two Sharpies, the one that had more force applied to fell first. The problem that occurred during this experiment was figuring out what objects would fit the criteria for the certain factors that were being tested. We overcame this problem by choosing two objects and visually judging which one would work best and used the one that we thought would work the best for the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 51. Diversity As A Common And Ordinary Individual Everyone is told at some point in their life that it is okay to be different, and should not be ashamed of who they are. They are told that being unique should be encouraged and that they should not hide from it. For this reason, diversity is exceptional. But what happens when excessive diversity divides citizens, causing contentions? Who then can decide what diversity is and whether it is convenient, especially after it may have caused a war? Entirely for this instance, diversity only matters to an extent. It is fair enough to be different, but over emphasizing diversity can divide communities, citizens, and students rather than unify them. There should be a balance between diversity and uniformity, and one should not overpower another. In essence, a common and ordinary individual should have the freedom to decide what diversity is and whether he or she wishes to exercise it or not. Children, teens, and adults are constantly being told that diversity should be promoted, usually by teachers, leaders, parents, and other acquaintances. Especially in the 21st century where being different is progressively becoming acceptable, it seems as if people expect, or pressure them to differentiate themselves among others. Be different, because everyone hates the same, boring person , has become a threatening phrase to those who only wantto be themselves, but can t because they fear of being that same, boring person. Instead of convincing others to be different and unique, it would ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 52. Literary Theories on Marxism The three analytic paragraphs on the song Zombie, the essay entitled The Closing of the (North) American Mind, and the documentary film Born Into Brothels showcase the literary theories on Marxism, Post colonial criticism, and feminism. The paragraphs show how people struggle in their own societies in different aspects, politically and socially. Because all three pieces show struggle in all texts, the unifying theme is how people react and overcome the struggles that they face. ANALYTIC PARAGRAPH # 1: ZOMBIE BY THE CRANBERRIESThe song Zombie by Irish band The Cranberries expresses the theory of post colonial criticism as it explicitly shows the struggle between the resistance movement and the colonizing power. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another post colonial issue seen in the text was the issue of power dynamics. Being a colony of a powerful empire, the colonized are subjects of the colonizers. Because of rising tensions between the colonized and the colonizers, both are struggling to gain power and influence over the people. The IRA, being the colonized, prevents the colonizers from gaining any more power in their land. The colonizers, on the other hand, lose its influence and power over the colonized as the people became more aware and active in the independence movement. The independence movement in Ireland started in the 1920s, a period when the British Empire was starting to fall apart. The conflict between the two warring factions had resulted into a bloodbath since the start of their resistance to the colonizers. Because of the hatred against the colonizers, the oppressed colonized people fought back in order to remove them physically and mentally out of their land. The power struggle between the two belligerent nations had disrupted peace in the country, which resulted to many innocent deaths. This is evident in the text when the resistance fighters and the colonizers are fighting with their tanks and their bombs, and their bombs and their guns (O Riordan). War for power and influence had made Ireland into a dangerous society where its people use force as a means of expressing their sentiments against colonial rule. Issues in ... • 53. The Fear Of Zombies By Franklin D. Roosevelt Kinemortophobia: The Fear of Zombies Franklin D. Roosevelt said one of the most recognizable quotes in history during his first Inaugural Address: The Only Thing We Have to Fear is Fear Itself! (Roosevelt) Fear is one of the most uncomfortable emotions that humans can experience and it occurs all throughout a person s lifetime. Terror can also be a very powerful tool to influence society and their decision making. Fear can drive a population to purchase a product that they deem a necessity or advocate war. The existing fear of death and destruction in Max Brook s World War Z led to influence survival choices of characters in order to prevent the spread of the infection. Similar circumstances can be observed during World War I and II through the use of propaganda encouraging US citizens to take part in the war effort. When comparing the two scenarios, one is able to understand that both World War Z and the World Wars were able to use the existing fear to influence society and society s decisions. Fear is an existing emotion that begins in childhood and progresses into adulthood. Children ages zero to two fear separation of parents, loud noises, and strangers while three to six year olds fear imaginary beings such as ghost and monsters (Smith). It is understandable that fear progresses in one s lifetime, morphing from childish fears into more real like scenarios. Propaganda, especially during wartime, appealed more to the fears of adults, as artists were targeting that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
