Essay On Future Goals
Writing an essay on the topic of "Future Goals" can be quite challenging for several reasons.
Firstly, defining one's future goals requires deep introspection and thoughtful consideration of
personal ambitions, passions, and aspirations. This introspective process can be daunting and
time-consuming as it involves contemplating one's long-term objectives and the steps needed to
achieve them.
Secondly, articulating these goals in a coherent and compelling manner requires effective
communication skills. It's not just about listing aspirations but also about conveying why these
goals are meaningful and how they align with one's values and interests. This requires clarity of
thought and the ability to express oneself eloquently.
Moreover, crafting an essay on future goals involves projecting oneself into the future and
envisioning potential challenges and opportunities. This speculative aspect adds another layer of
complexity to the writing process, as it requires balancing optimism with realism and considering
potential obstacles and alternative pathways.
Furthermore, the essay should not only focus on personal goals but also address how these goals
contribute to broader societal or professional objectives. This requires research and an
understanding of relevant trends and developments in one's field of interest.
Overall, writing an essay on future goals demands a combination of self-reflection,
communication skills, forward-thinking, and research. It's a task that requires careful planning,
drafting, and revising to ensure that the final product effectively captures one's aspirations and
motivations.
In conclusion, while challenging, writing an essay on future goals can be a rewarding exercise in
self-discovery and personal development.

Why Australia Joined Vietnam War
The reason why Australia joined the Vietnam War was to support South Korea in
stopping communism from spreading to Europe and Asia. The French defeat at the
Dien Bien Phu was followed by a peace conference in Geneva. As a result of the
conference, Laos, Cambodia, and Vietnam received their independence, and Vietnam
was temporarily divided between an anti Communist South and a Communist North.
Koreas national conflict had rapidly become one of the global significance the us
president called to stop North Korea from invading South Korea and spreading
communism. North Korea refused which led to the USA to start a military
intervention to stop communism spreading to South Korea. From the 29th of June to
the 27th 1953 1700 Australian sailors, soldiers and airmen served in the Korean War.
After World War II, the United Statesand the Soviet Union were the world s
strongest nations. They were called superpowers. They had different ideas about
economics and government. They fought a war of ideas called the Cold War. The cold
war had started in 1947 during 1989 and 1990, the Berlin Wall came down, and
borders opened, and free elections. In late 1991 the Soviet Union itself ... Show more

Australia responded with 30 military advisers. Their arrival in South Vietnam in July
1962 was the beginning of Australia s involvement in the Vietnam War. According to
the Australian war memorial website the arrival of the Australian Army Training
Team Vietnam (AATTV) in South Vietnam during July and August 1962 was the
beginning of Australia s involvement in the Vietnam War. Australia s participation in
the war was formally declared at an end when the Governor General issued a
proclamation on 11 January 1973. The only combat troops remaining in Vietnam
were a platoon guarding the Australian embassy in Saigon, which was withdrawn in

Allusions In A Tale Of Two Cities
In Robert Alter s literary analysis of A Tale of Two Cities, The Demons of History
in Dickens s Tale, his central emphasis converges with the ideal that the novel tends
to stray from his preceding works. Alter essentially deems A Tale of Two Cities as an
uncharacteristic expression of his genius (94), which he believes is a result of his
distinctive writing style, deviating from his jollyness, humor, and warmth. He
primarily believes that Dickens attempts to convey a strong sense of emotion by
means of melodramatic storytelling to persist in a kind of splendid, self transcending
unevenness (94). Additionally, Alter claims Dickens utilizes a distinguishable
contrast between the elements of picturesque and dramatic immediacy to enhance

During the mayhem of the revolutionaries, there were explicitly four incendiaries
(98), setting fires across the homes of aristocrats. According to Robert Alter, this
scene represents an excerpt from the Old Testament of the Four Horsemen of the
Apocalypse causing pandemonium. Alter also states the presence of religion is
transparent through the anti Christian behavior of the French revolutionaries. The
spilled wine at Defarge s shop displays The Blood of Christ and the grindstone later
in the novel takes form of The Body of Christ, exhibiting new beginnings for
slaughter and redemption. Alter as well claims the Carmagnole dance as a satanic
ritual. The guillotine is also supposedly a religious symbol to the revolutionaries,
replacing the cross. This ideal is exhibited through Sydney Carton dying for his
friends on the guillotine, similarly to Jesus Christ dying on the cross. Sydney Carton,
simultaneously in his execution, even mutters, I am the resurrection and the life (99),
establishing a sense of divinity for himself, similar to Jesus
Red Cabbage Ph Indicator Lab
Science Essay:
Red Cabbage PH Indicator
Did you know that, instead having to buy expensive PH indicators, you can just
use the juice from red cabbages? In this experiment, I will see how red cabbage can
go from side dish to science. My hypothesis is that the color of red cabbage will
change color based on a reaction with different substances to indicate whether it is an
acid or base. According to the page madsci.org, red cabbage contains a pigment called
anthocyanin. this pigment changes its structure and its reaction to light depending on
the acidity of its environment. For this experiment, I only needed a few typical
household items. This is a list of everything I used:
One small, red cabbage

It is important that the liquid is allowed to cool to room temperature so that residual
heat doesn t affect the PH readings. Now I have a homemade PH Indicator!
Using an eyedropper, I added a few drops of the indicator into each of my substances
and viewed the color changes through the clear plastic cups. I used the chart below
to determine each substances PH level by matching its colour to the chart below. The
lower the PH level the more acidic, so a violet red color is highly acidic; whereas a
yellow color is highly basic.
I tested a few of the most common substances used in daily life: milk, soda, lemon
juice and bleach. My results are the following: In my first test, I tried testing the PH
level of milk. I first thought that milk would be basic, but after dripping some of the
cabbage mixture into it, I discovered that it was light blue, which means that it was
actually slightly acidic! After researching this, I found that this is true because milk
contains lactic acid, which is responsible for the sour flavor of sourdough breads.
Caregiving Is Area Agency On Aging
Caregiving is a responsibility best managed with plenty of help. Being a caregiver
is very hard and tough work. It is very important that caregivers are taking care of
just like their patients. Many caregivers give everything they have and do not rest
when they really should take time to breathe and have time for themselves. That is
why there are many organizations for caregivers and their patients. These
organizations are made for the caregivers to teach them to be the best that they can
be at their job and also making sure that their mental state is doing well. One of the
organizations that help caregivers is Area Agency on Aging. Area Agency on Aging
gets basic information about eldercare and referrals to aging related services and

Cocaine Addiction Research
Low income, crack cocaine addicted African American mothers face many challenges
as they seek addiction treatment. Limited research suggests that women who seek
addiction treatment can potentially lose custody of their children to Child Protective
Services Intervention. Ironically however, women in need of treatment for any other
illness face no such threat of losing their children. Unfortunately, women with
substance use histories often encounter criminal penalties or the lost of their children
to Child Protective Services. Consequently, many of these women are afraid to seek
treatment. Due to the social injustices faced by women with substance addictions,
elected officials and policymakers should consider enacting legislation that provide...

How the USSR Was Able to Defeat Germany by 1945,
Despite...
During the duration of The Second World War, the USSR lost 27 Million Soviets
to the ravages of war, despite this huge loss the USSR was still able to come out on
top of the 3rd Reich. Before the start of WW2 we see a series of purges,
Implemented by Stalin in hope of getting rid of political opposition. These affected
the Red Armyduring the War. We can also look at the 5 year plans and we will also
look at how the Germans could have caused their own downfall by spreading their
troops to thin, trying to fight a war on two fronts and how unprepared they were to
face the Soviets during winter.
Moving to the purges, Stalin s Purges resulted in the death of many of the Red Army

Again we see that even the leader of Nazi Germany would underestimate the Soviets.
Another factor was that the use of German Allied troops to support critical positions
within the east, these reserves were used as the German s didn t have enough troops
to support their war effort and had essentially spread themselves too thin. Due to this
it enabled the Soviet forces to break through the German lines during the winter of
1942 and destroy the 6th and 4th Panzer Armies. This was a loss that the Germans
could not fully recover from. Relating this back to the question, the loss of two major
divisions would impact on both the morality of the Soviet and German forces, it
would also stop the Germans from advancing in that route.
A second point to consider is the lack of Air superiority within the German forces,
due to the fact that the Luftwaffe did not have long range bomber, this stopped them
from attacking the Russian sources of production and as a result we can see that the
Soviets were able to out produce the Germans in weapons. The fact that the Germans
could not keep up with the Russian production numbers is due to the Allied forces
and their relentless bombing of the German industrial complexes, this slowed the
The Was The Messiah A Little Differently Than Jesus
The Jews pictured the Messiah a little differently than Jesus. Some Jews could have
missed Jesus if you had picture painted of what you thought the Messiah would be
like, you might end up passing them by. the Jews had already made up their minds
of who the Messiah was going to be, therefore, they missed who He actually was,
along with the message that He brought. Now knowing this, it s easier to understand
the reasoning behind why the Jews may have denied Jesusas the Messiah. The
Messiah the jew were looking for, was the anointed one, similar to the Messiah.

7:14). He will be a Nazarene(general OT prophecy) , the Son of God(Matt. 3:17),
and also be a prophet like Moses(Deut. 18:15 19). He will be all knowing, a king,
(anointed by perfume Matt. 26: 6 7)as well as Lord of the Sabbath(Matt. 12:14 15,
9:4). He will be called the ultimate sacrifice, the light of the world, the New
Covenant, greater than the prophets, law, and angels, yet few will recognize Him
when He comes. He will be the sinless, perfect sacrificial lamb, who dies for our
sake, even though we don t deserve it. He will be a servant, teacher, and mentor for
many to follow. He will be the chosen seed through the line of David, the anointed
one, Christ, and the Messiah. Even after all of this the Jewish people back in that
time period still have no clue who this man is. He even tells them that He is the
Messiah, the Son of Man, yet everyone seems to believe that He is just some
prophet who showed up to do good things, or a blasphemer that should be put to
death. Even the demons know who the Son of Man is(Matt.8:28 29). Although the
people see and hear all of these things that He has done, and know in the back of their
minds that this man s coming and character has been prophesied in the Old Testament
and now fulfilled right before their eyes, they still do not see who He really is, or
their hearts are just too hard to take in the truth. Just like the people in this time
period are numb to who the Messiah is, they also don t understand the way He was
Saint Thomas Aquinas A Saint
Saint Thomas Aquinas was a great saint who was born in 1225, Roccasecca Italy
and died on March 7, 1274 in Fossanova Abbey, Italy. He was an Italian Dominican
friar, a catholic priest, doctor of the church a great influential philosopher and
theologian. Saint Thomas was a great saint and inspiration and originally was
supposed to take place in a monastery where he would work. Instead saint Thomas
decided to something else when he went into school.
Saint Thomas went to the school of the Monte Cassino to learn everything that he
needed to know. Through his time there, he decided that it would be best if were to
join the Dominican Order. The Dominican Order is a mendicant religious order that
would help saint Thomas become a doctor of the church. They would help him to
become a priest and learn to believe in God in all ways that he could. Although
Thomas was totally on board with becoming part of the Dominican Order there were
others that were not happy for him to be part of this order. Thomas Aquinass parents
were Theodora Rossi, his mother, and Landulf of Aquino, his father. Though
Thomas was ready for him to be part of the Dominican Order his parents and his
family wanted him to go another direction. His family did not want him to go so
much so that they had kept him captive in a castle for a whole entire year before
they finally released him. The only reason that they had let him go was because they
had now known that he was not able to be persuaded. So with that he
Shakespeare Twelfth Night
William Shakespeare s play, Twelfth Night, focuses on identity, love, and comedy.
While we made our adaptation to this play, we chose to have a more modern
approach. Because we decided on a modern adaptation, we had to come up with a
modern storyline; therefore, there is still love and confusion about identity. Taking
place in 2015 in Los Angeles, Orsino is the number one modeling agency in the state.
Along with a new setting, we have also changed some actions with the characters,
meaning some things that take place in the playare not a part of our storyline (for
example Feste as the Clown). Our adaptation has the potential to be a real movie
because it is realistic. The main purpose behind Shakespeare s Twelfth Nightwas to
entertain, and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In order to achieve this literary device that is major to our movie, we decided to
use dramatic irony. For example, Maria makes a comment about Viola saying that
she has a soft looking feminine face. Since Maria has not yet figured out that Viola
is in fact a man, it adds to the irony. Another example is when Felix is talking to
Viola, who he believes is Caesar, about how Duke Orsino was only hiring men for
the internship. Viola talks about how she was willing to do anything about it (29
30). This works as dramatic irony as well because only Viola and the audience
know what Viola meant by her statement. Viola s willingness to do anything meant
that she was willing to disguise herself as a man. The ironic part is that none of the
characters know that Caesar is actually Viola actually pretending to be a man. Our
adaptation of this play can work as a movie because of the way we decided to set it
up. Since we decided to modernize the play, our version of it can easily translate to
screen. It works especially when specific stage directions are added to the script.
For example, one of the stage directions describes that Viola flashes her I.D. She
waits a while before Maria lifts her eyes from the screen and looks at the I.D. ,
which is found right under line 4. Simple, yet straight forward commands like that
make it easy for whom ever is reading the script to know exactly what to do when it
comes to acting out a part of the play. But also, because our adaptation is much
more modern, it would make it easy for the play to work as a

Shakespeare And Emerson Comparison
These two poems are by William Shakespeare and Ralph Waldo Emerson. The
poems talk about the idea of friendship and what it means to them separately. These
poems are kind of different in nature. One poem talks about how great it is to have
a friend and that friend will care for you for eternity. The other poem is talking
about a friend that he has lost and this makes him so sad that he cannot take it
anymore. In these two poems they use a different type of imagery in them and it
makes them unique in their own way. These two works use different types of
imagery and writing styles to describe the theme of friendship throughout these two
poems. In this paragraph I am going to talk about the summary of this poem and what
it means. In Friendship ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the Friendship Sonnet by William Shakespeare he talks about the hardship he has
with a friend and that a loss of that friend could hurt so much. In this poem he is
saying that he has wasted a lot of time with a friend and he feels depressed about
that. In the first quatrain he is talking about a man sweetly and silently reminiscing
the experiences of the past. Also, he is experiencing fierce pain for the wasted
time and is hurting a lot. In the second quatrain of the sonnet the pain is much
more as he thinks about the people that will never be in his life ever again. This
makes him cry because the pain he experiences is relived again. In the third
quatrain the debt of pain is reopened and he must pay the entire amount again. In
this poem he is basically crying about all the friends that he has lost and this
saddens him. In the end of the poem it is saying that if I just think about you all my
pain will end and I will be okay. This is the meaning of friendship because
everything will be alright in your life if you just think about the good times you have
had with your
Trust in Business Is a Means for Greater Business Efficiency
All businesses strive to be effective and efficient. Whilst the hallmark of a capitalist
economy is self interest and competition, cooperation is also necessary in order to
further efficiency and productivity. For a business to be successful, the people within
need to develop relationships amongst each other as well as outside the organization
in order to be able to work with one another. These relationships are a function of
trust. Trust is the reliance on the integrity, ability, or character of a person or thing.
Therefore building trust is a vital step towards maintaining and promoting business
efficiency. However, in terms of business ethics, the sole purpose of the use of trust is
to promote business efficiency.

While loyalty is not easily quantifiable, and thus does not show up in a corporate
ledger, it will affect the company s overall performance. Because trust is a vital part
of loyalty, it follows that creating trust amongst employees by treating them
respectfully is likely to result in improved company performance and efficiency. This
once again provides a quantifiable measure for trust in a capitalist economy.
Trust is also dependent upon not lying. Companies that lie about their product are
in essence diminishing the trust established among their customers and the
community. This can be anything from providing misleading information about
their products in advertisements or stating obvious falsehoods . For example, an
obvious falsehood would be a deodorant company that claims that the user of the
product is likely to attract women as a result of the product itself. Lying is always
wrong because it undermines the trust that makes telling the truth useful. If no one
could be trusted , and everyone lied about what they did, the business world would
fall apart quickly as a business could not be assured of any one else s services. A
business would not be able to do something as simple as take a loan out of a bank
to afford its various activities. This is because banks would not trusting a business
to repay the loan as in a capitalist economy paying back a loan would not be in a
business self interest. Thus in such an environment, all of business comes to a

The Economics Of Human Gene Editing. Human Gene

The Economics of Human Gene Editing Human gene editing has long been
controversial topic; however, precise techniques that accomplish this feat have only
recently been discovered. According to the Welcome Genome Campus in the UK, the
most versatile and simplest technique, called CRISPR Cas9, allows scientists to cut,
alter, or add to sections of the DNAsequence of living organisms ( What Is CRISPR
Cas9? ). This astonishing technology has nearly endless applications, including the
potential to eradicate genetic diseases in humans that currently have no cure. This
could have vast implications for people who suffer with disease and the economy of

The ease of reprogramming allows researchers to evaluate the effects of genetic
alterations without using large amounts of their funding. David Warmflash, an
astrobiologist and science writer, explained that instead of having to alter the design
or setup, the guide RNA can easily be switched out or changed to target an
alternative DNA sequence, all while using the same equipment. This saves money
both in the initial editing of the sequence and in tests to evaluate the alteration s
precision since money doesn t have to be spent on additional machines and time is
saved on experimental design. This decreased cost of usage greatly influences gene
therapies that could be researched and potentially offered in the future. Since it
costs less to use, the amount companies would charge patients would be less. This
could result in an increase of insurance companies willing to cover CRISPR
therapies, increasing attainability for patients and potential profit for companies if
CRISPR gene therapies are commercialized. Due to CRISPR Cas9 s low cost, global
scientific research on genetic editing has flourished. The power of CRISPR is so
easily accessible by labs you don t need a very expensive piece of equipment and
people don t need to get many years of training to do this (Ledford). Because of this,
CRISPR technology has spread to labs across the globe. There are two main economic

The Road to Freedom the Underground Railroad

where the bloody lash was not buried in the quivering flesh of a slave.... (7,p.i).
Such were the conditions of the Underground Railroad. It was a fictitous railroad but
served the same purpose: to transport people from one place to another. This
railroad, however, was not sanctioned by any government, in fact if it had been

If the whites had not enslaved the blacks for two hundred years there wouldn t have

Knowing and understanding the characteristics, distribution, and migrations of
people is another key factor. The people who travelled on the underground railroad
were migrants, though not legally. Moving from one area to another defines thema s
migrants. When they got to the desired place, there was an economic interdepence
was set up. Lastly, two more standards that apply are about applying geography.
Using the information we know now about the time of slavery can help us to interpret
the past, however, it can also help us to interpret the future and the present.
History The Underground Railroad developed in a section of the country rid of
slavery, and situated between two regions (6, p.17). The two regions were the
southern half of what was then the United States, and Canada: the land without any
hint of slavery or threat of extradition. The Underground Railroad, therefore,
developed in the land between these two factors, which would be the northern half of
what was then the U.S.
Slavery was outlawed early on in New England, New Jersey, New York and
Pennsylvania. The Ordinance of 1787 that created many of the mid western states

different types of characters. Usually, these characters are faced with situations that

this charecter or man as he is known in the story performs in order to stop his fear

Every night he would watch the old man sleep. He found comfort in knowing that
the eye was not watching him, that it could not see the true evil in him. While the
eye was closed, so was the idea of killing the old man. It is not until the old man
awakens each day that the struggle within him is apparent. This may be the reason
why the narrator is so obsessed with watching the old man sleep. The actual act of
murder, which the man believes was premeditated, was in fact a spur of the
moment action. He toiled with the idea while the man was awake, that is, while he
could see the evil eye . However, while the eye was closed, the man was at peace.
One night, during one of the man s stalking sessions, the old man awakens. The
man goes into a paranoid frenzy, mistaking the beating of his heart for the beating
of the old man s heart. During this frenzy, the man is afraid that neighbors will hear
the beating of the old man s heart. This causes the man to take action. He quickly
subdues the old man and kills him. He then takes extreme steps in disposing of the
body, dismembering it and burying it under the planks in the floorboard. These
extreme actions can be used as evidence to the paranoia that is taking over him. The
fear of getting caught would be a normal reaction to someone who has committed a
murder. However, the dismemberment of the body was not necessary since the man
had ample resources to dispose of
Cathedral (by Raymond Carver)
Cathedral: A Lesson for the Ages
Raymond Carver s short story, Cathedral, portrays a story in which many in today s
society can relate. We are introduced from the first sentence of the story to a man
that seems to be perturbed and agitated. As readers, we are initially unsure to the
reasoning s behind the man s discomfort. The man, who seems to be a direct
portrayal of Raymond Carver himself, shows his ignorance by stereotyping a blind
man by the name of Robert, who has come to stay with he and his wife. From the
very beginning, Carver shows his detest for Robert but over the course of the story
eases into comfort with him and in the end is taught a lesson from the very one he
despised.
The story begins with a description of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
That s alright, he says, I m glad for the company. The two then focus their attention to
the television and some middle age show about cathedrals. It is this show from which
the author gets the name of this short story, Cathedral . It also is relevant because it
gives the blind man the opportunity to share with Carver his state of mind.
The blind man sees the TV show as a way for him to express his views to Carver.
After inquiring into the show, Robert asks Carver to simply explain what the
Cathedral s look like. Carver does this but soon realizes that he is not doing a very
good job. I m not doing so good am I. This doesn t work so Robert then asks the
author if would mind drawing one with him. Carver agrees and leaves to gather
supplies. Before long, he returns and they begin their project. We at this point the
strong change in interaction between the two characters. The blind man diligently
places his hand on that of Carver and they draw, together. The two are intently

The Importance Of Reconciliation In Canada
The concept of reconciliation is well known amongst Aboriginal peoples living in
Canada. For many Aboriginal peoples, it means the wiping out of seven generations
of tradition, culture, trust and a way of life. The Encarta Dictionary defines
Reconciliation as The reconciling of People; the ending of conflict or renewing of a
friendly relationship between disputing people or groups. Reconciliation in Canadais
about healing. Injustices inflicted to Aboriginal peoples in Canada have been cited by
the Truth and Reconciliation commission of Canada (TRC) to cover the past seven
generations.
As a leading union and voice of workers employed in 26 sectors of the Canadian
economy, at UFCW Canada we believe that respecting each other s cultural traditions
and ethnic identities is pivotal to supporting the rights and freedoms of all workers in
Canada. By taking a stand to support the human rights of all workers in the
workplace, we support diversity through inclusion. By better understanding the
historical injustices endured by First Nations, MГ©tis and Inuit peoples in Canada
today and supporting Aboriginal issues locally, provincially and federally, we support
the human rights of all Canadians. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

questions have been, Why did this happen? What caused these kids to become

Many people still have several questions they want answered, such as, is media
violence actually affecting children or are children already prone to violence drawn
to media violence? Some experts have shown short and long term negative effects
occur in children from watching violent media; however another group of experts
have shown that media violence is only one of many risk factors leading to aggression
developed in children. These two groups need to continue more research and go
beyond that to find true solutions. Nevertheless, no sources were found to say that
media violence has no influence on the increase in modern culture s violent actions.
The key to discovering the true correlation between violence in children and media
violence is to continue research until a solution is

With the economy being vastly poor in the United States it has caused many
places to either cut back on businesses or even to close some doors that they can
not afford to run anymore. With the cost of fuel, it cost the restaurant more money
to pay the truck drivers to deliver their supplies to their restaurants. So by the
owners having to increase this pay, they have to compensate other areas to adjust
the cost and usually they end up cutting back on employees or shutting down some
companies and this is the action Perkins took in order to keep their bills paid and
to keep most of their restaurants open for business. According to the news release

Is Global Warming True Or False
Global warning has been a highly debated issue over the years. It has come to the
forefront during the presidential debates as to whether global warning was true or
false. There is conflicting evidence to both sides of the argument but what remains to
be seen is who has the most accurate information and is it true? What is global
warming? It is described as a steady increase of the earths atmosphereusually
associated with the greenhouse effect which is caused by an increase in pollutants in
the atmosphere. One thing that is clear is that there is a problem with that climate.
The consensus is not sure as to whether it is caused by human influence or by
environmental influences has yet to be seen. The recent debates have stated that the

In 2050, after over 50,000 people colonize Mars, Do Not Go Gentle, a private
space company on Earth is planning to have its first human exploration of Saturn s
satellite, Titan. However, the dangers of radiation and the length of the trip from
Earth jeopardize the mission for the humans on this mission to explore Titan. The
mission will be using robotic AI s and space ship that uses ion thrusters for
propulsion. One of the topics that will be talked about in the sci fi story of the
mission to Titan is radiation. In space, radiation is one of many problems humans
face when they travel beyond Earth s atmosphere. There are two types of radiation,
ionizing and non ionizing radiation. Ionizing ... Show more content on

[1] [2] There are two ways to measure radiation, an US unit and a SI unit. The first
unit used to measure radiation is radiation absorbed dose (rad) and it is use mostly
in United States. The more commonly used measuring unit in the International
Systems of Unit or SI is gray (Gy); 1 rad is equivalent to 0.01 Gy. Gray is also
equivalent to one Joules per kilogram; however, radiation is measured in mGy or 1
/1000 of a Gy when measuring absorption of a biological entity. [2] On Earth, the
layers of atmosphere shield us from most of the radiation that could ever reach us
but not all radiation is filtered like UV radiation. If there was no atmosphere, the
high energy particles can rip through the DNA s links and cause mutations (usually
in the form of cancer). When a high energy particle affects the DNA/RNA or
molecules, it can rip apart links or chains in the DNA/molecules. [3] The links that
ripped apart a DNA can cause cancer and can affect chromosomes in the process.
This process eventually leads to death if the DNA/RNA or cell is unable to repair
the damage bonds. Exposure radiation can cause either an acute or chronic radiation
poisoning. [3] Acute radiation is simply one large exposure to radiation either from
high energy/ionized or cosmic rays. Instead of having one large exposure of
radiation, chronic radiation is having small doses over time, hence the
Identifying The Patterns Of Social Acceptance
In the context of parties of people, I was particularly interested in finding the
patterns of social acceptance, and the ways that people incorporate themselves
into groups. An example of such acceptance can be the pattern of individuals who
completely ignore groups around them by staring at their phone; compared to
those who strike conversations with people they haven t met before. Addressed,
also, are ways that people use more passive technique to identify themselves and
how this resembles their social circle. Note taking was taken in two spots with the
overall time of note taking to roughly 1 hour. The first area was the quad. This area
was where the majority of notes were written. I selected this area in particular
because of the traffic during lunch hours. In order to get a good viewing angle of
the quad, I sat under in the southwest corner of the quad and began taking notes.
The other part of my notes were written in a more progressive manner. I
specifically took notes of group patterns during lecture, and regularly would ask
questions focused on such. Finding a correlation between the different questions
asked, and a behavioral response is how I drew my conclusions. I am always
fascinated between how people socialize. This topic is close to my heart because I
was an extreme introvert before my final years of high school. Not being able to just
start a simple conversationbecause of social anxiety is one of the worst feelings
anybody can have, and it takes a lot

Bemister Boyz N the Hood (1991) tells the story of three young African American
boys, Trey, Ricky and Doughboy, growing up in a lower class neighborhood in
South Central Los Angeles. The movie is based off the life o a young black man
living with his mom and moving to Watts, California to live with his dad. The
movie brings friendship, parenthood, violence, and revenge into one concept of how
parts of the country are. This paper will mainly discuss two theories, Anomie/Strain

And at the end, it is revealed that Doughboy is murdered two weeks later in
retaliation. All these scenes bring out Anomie/Strain Theory, which espresses that
Anomie is a state of deregulation, breakdown, or normlessness in society, usually
attributed to decreased homogeneity , especially fit one of Durkheim s thesis
where social order breaks down and social norms lose their influence, anomie
develops and crime increases significantly (John A. Winterdyk, 2015, p175). In this
movie, Trey has walked on the edge of crime many times, but he always made the
right decisions in the end. Trey could walk on the right path of his life is mainly
because of his father. Trey s father, is a financial adviser, and a persuasive dispenser
of advice to his son. He makes Trey a right outlook on life. His strict, but loving
discipline, stands in stark contrast to that in the home of Ricky and Doughboy. It is
through morals and values that people such as Trey don t become strained by
society because his father guides him. Make a contrast that when Doughboy and

continue, Trey has realized that it s not worth risking his life and stay in jail in his
last life. Unfortunately for Doughboy, he has made the decision to continue with the

The Personal Effects Of Plastic Surgery
The Personal Effects of Plastic Surgery
Plastic surgery dates back to somewhere around 2000 B.C. and has only advanced
since that time. Today people all over the world get these procedures done for many
reasons. Some reasoning behind individuals getting plastic surgery is to fix a birth
defect, deformability, or for cosmetic purposes. In today s society, getting plastic
surgery for cosmetics purposes is very popular but with that comes many negative
comments or thoughts towards that person getting these surgeries. Cosmetic
surgery impact not just the person receiving it but everyone that sees those new
features or changes. In the world we now live in I think body image is a big factor
in many people s lives. A lot of people do not always feel comfortable in their own
skin because of the different models and actresses or actors seen on television. I
think when we see those different people on television or on the internet, we think
that s how we should be able to look, this can make people have negative thoughts
about their own body. In all reality, most of those people we see on television,
magazines and social networks; almost all of those people have had some sort of
plastic surgery to change their appearance. While these people change themselves
they can send thousands of dollars on just one procedure. When someone has had
over ten procedure done to themselves that dollar amount really starts to add up and
that s just of the negative effects of getting plastic surgery.
Exploring The Meaning Of Psalm One
Psalm one begins with the first word blessed. It is a word that describes the state of
a righteous man. The word is first used as a negative statement; Blessed is the man
who walks not... In it s original Hebrew the word is КѕashrГЄ, and functions as an
adjective and affirms the blessed state of all those who submit themselves to Godin
obedient devotion to him. It occurs around forty times in the Old Testament . The
word can also function as happy or The happiness of...! It is a word also found in

In this passage, God wants His children to learn in the same manner by giving wise
counsel on what not to do and telling them they are blessed when they do not do
something. Even when they are mature in faith He looks at them as His children.
The Psalm 1:1 word blessed is similar to the word used in Matthew 5:3¬¬ 12 the
Beatitudes. The word used there is makarios, and also communicates the meaning
as happy, happier, or favored.9 In several of the verses, it also implies a negative
tone in order to receive blessing. Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the

The Apartheid Of South Africa
Apartheid in South Africa was the main cause of the 1981 Springbok Tour Protests
causing international resentment. The Apartheid soon became a major controversy
within New Zealand, as many people prefered boycotting in opposition to it, instead
of continued sporting contact. Following the Sharpeville Massacre, the international
opposition towards apartheid increased dramatically, as the United Nations
conservative stance changed to strongly oppose it. The massacre and the system
itself caused many nations to institute sporting and trade boycotts onto the South
African government. In 1968, the United Nations called for a sporting boycott
against South African teams as a way to put pressure in the government there to ease
apartheid laws. Many New Zealanders were opposed on a brobdingnagian scale
towards apartheid, and the arrival of the Springbok Team in 1981 forced the nation to
confront apartheid head on, as the government has been previously reluctant to
impose sanctions. Apartheid had a lasting effect on New Zealand, and was the major
cause of the Springbok Tour Protests and the debate still rages on today as people
question the most effective way to end regimes around the world, through isolation,
or providing governments political, economic and social incentives to end systems.
New Zealand had previously engaged in a significant amount of sporting contact,
especially with the South African Springbok Rugby Team. The relationship between
apartheid and the Springbok Team
Advantages Of Teaching English Language
English language teaching is an art that requires artistic sensibility and well trained
perfectibility. Each stage of English language acquisition will present unique
challenges and require unique strategies. It cannot be mastered within a particular
period of time. Learning English language will take some years to be mastered.
Teaching the international languageinside the classroom is very difficult indeed,
especially for non native speakers of the language. Various strategies have to be
applied for teaching English inside the classroom and to make students use the
language outside the classroom. Teaching vocabulary requires more attention.
Effective ways of teaching words will enhance learning capability. Mere learning of
vocabulary will not make the learning process complete. For an effective mode of
communication learners should be taught to use vocabulary in authentic situation.

Descriptive Essay About Snow Angel
Snow Angel
Once upon a time, there lived a girl named Angelina whose dream was to have a
chance at seeing the world and the seven wonders it held. Perhaps, someday, she
sighed, looking out her bedroom window. For now, the one room apartment her
family shared with her and someday were enough. For years, it seemed it would
always be.
But, one day, on her way back home from buying salt from the market, a goblin

malicious intent. Using his charisma, he proposed a bargain. Suddenly, enough was
insufficient.
Goblins were not to be trusted, especially those that made deals . . . but, a world of
infinite wonders for a morsel of salt seemed generous too generous. That s what she
said when he asked, but his wild tales about the ecstasy of joy he could gift to her
intrigued her.
The goblin began to bounce around, and the grin on his face made Angelina envious.

The Los Riots, The Oklahoma Bombing, Vietnam Essay
On April 20th 1999, Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris committed a planned mass
murder at their high school killing 13 people and injuring 20 in just an hour
(XxSlenderMotorX, 2012). They planted bombs throughout the school, but they
did not detonate. Sadly, they also took guns to kill people, so even when the
bombs did not go off they were able to go through with their act. There original
goal was to kill plenty more people than they did. They wrote journals and claimed
to want to be like the LA Riots, the Oklahoma Bombing, Vietnam, etc
(XxSlenderMotorX, 2012).. They named there desired massacre after a movie
called Named Born Killer or NBK, they felt like they related to these boys in the
movie and felt superior to their other students (XxSlenderMotorX, 2012). Sadly, a
lot of their problem stemmed from kids not letting the boys participate in social
events. These boys felt shut out and unwanted, but also felt better than anyone
else. In the end, Dylan and Eric also ended up killing themselves. So, who were these
boys and what potentially caused them to attack their school? Dylan Klebold seemed
to be more calm and held together than Eric. No one would of expected Dylan to be a
cold blood killer because he had such great parents and seemingly great life. Dylan
was a gifted student in school, but very shy and did not have many friends at

Effects Of Alcohol Dependence On Family Relationship
Alcohol dependence is on the rise throughout the United States, and effects a plethora
of interpersonal relationships. This was exemplified in Under the Influence, by Scott
Russell Sanders. Through much research and reading, I have learned more about how
alcohol dependence effects family relationships, romantic relationships, and friend
relationships. The negative effects of alcohol dependence on interpersonal
relationships is very prevalent for all age groups, and is a problem that must be
addressed. While many cannot tell the symptoms of alcoholismas easily as others,
many studies have found that alcohol dependence is more prevalent than those
would assume. Although many believe that alcohol only causes harm to the body,
alcohol is the root cause of many problems throughout many interpersonal
relationships across the globe. Alcohol dependence is sometimes known as
alcoholism, and occurs when an individual relies on alcoholic substances to get
through everyday life. A recent study by the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse
and Alcoholism found that 26.9 percent of people ages 18 or older have engaged in
binge drinking in the past month, and 15.1 million adults age 18 and older have an
alcohol use disorder in the United States. More than 10 percent of U.S. children live
with a parent with alcohol problems (Grant et al, 2004). Alcohol dependence has the
capability to severely hurt children and spouses mentally emotionally, as well as
family dynamics. Often times, families blame themselves for a loved one s alcohol
dependence, which causes tension and puts strain on the interpersonal relationships
within the families. Children often times feel as though they are to blame, and when
they notice a parent drinking heavily and frequently, they often assume that they are
the cause. Children with an alcoholic parent are more susceptible to depression,
anxiety, and alcohol abuse themselves. According to the Polish Journal of Public
Health, children raised by alcohol addicted parent are influenced by some destructive
biological, psychological and social factors. The greater number of stressors and time
of their action, and the weaker developmental predispositions, the greater probability
that mental problems appear
Peline De Nascimento Research Paper
Edson Arantes de Nascimento (otherwise known as Pele), was born into a family in
poverty in Brazil on September 23, 1940. The reason I chose to do Pele is because he
is a great inspiration because of everything he has done in his life. His father was a
soccer player. Pele s first soccer ball was a sock full rags and he and his friends would
boot it around all day. He dropped out of school in the 4th grade because the school
master had caught him playing soccer during the school day. Pele was first

brought him into a local youth club team and Pele rapidly became the star of the
team. The first pro team he ever played for was Santos in 1956. On that team scored
his first ever professional goal. That first pro goal was on September 7, 1956. Pele led
the league he was in with Santos for most goals for his first full season. At age 17 he

Regarding the behavioral explaination, Post (1998) stated that if terrorism was

The Lanyard, Forgetfulness, Hangover And Schoolsville
Billy Collins is an American poet writer that is renowned for finding humor in
many situations. Whether it be a poem about a hangover or the forgetfulness of an
older man, he can always find a way to introduce humor to his readers. It is almost
like he plans out every word of his poems to strike the reader just the way he wants
to with his expert craft. The poems that I have found and analyzed and found the
most humourin are The Lanyard, Forgetfulness, Hangover and Schoolsville.
The first poem I analyzed was The Lanyard. The speaker of The lanyard is a boy
who tries to offer his lanyard that he made at camp to make up for all the loving
care that his mother has gave him in his life. The boy addresses his mother as a
very loving mother that has always taken care of him and done what is best for
him. He talks up all the great things that his mother has given him and all he can
give her is a lanyard. She gave me life and milk from her breasts, and I gave her a
lanyard. Here is a breathing body and a beating heart, strong legs, bones and teeth,
and two clear eyes to see the world to read the world with, she whispered, and here,
I said, is the lanyard I made at camp. These lines from the poem are metaphors of
not being able to give your mother what she deserves at a young age for all that
she has done for you. No matter what you get her it will never scale to the amount
to what she has done for you. The humour in this poem is sarcastic in a way because
the speaker always

Substance(s) added| 1.0moldm 3 HCl| 1.0moldm 3 HCl and 1.0moldm 3 NaOH|
1.0moldm 3 NaOH| 1.0moldm 3 NaOH and 1.0moldm 3 HCl| First Color Change|
Orange| Orange| Yellow| Yellow| Second Color Change| Orange| Yellow| Yellow|
Orange|
Conclusion:
To conclude, the data we have collected from both experiments suggests that Le
Chatelier s principles are applicable and correct. When different substances were
added to different solutions, the equilibrium shifted appropriately in order to gain
a balance. The shifting of equilibrium resulted in different color changes in
different mixtures. In part 2 of the experiment we the aforementioned changes
were more easily spotted. We saw the relationship between forward and reverse
reactions. When NaOH was added to tube #8 we saw that the color changed from
orange into yellow, in order to gain balance but when we added HCl back, the color
again changed to orange. Which clearly proved Le Chatelier s
Pinky The Dolphin Research Paper
Pinky the Dolphin
Pinky is a bottlenose dolphin. It is completely normal, except for the fact that it s
pink. The social media has been going crazy since Pinky s last sighting on
September 9th, 2015. Pinky isn t the first pink dolphin, and probably won t be the
last. Nevertheless, it is a rare type, and scarcity creates value, or in Pinky s case, fame.
Pinky was first sighted in June 2007 in Louisiana waters as a dolphin calf following
its mother. This time, it has been accompanied by another grey bottlenose dolphin.
This means that they are mating, and leads to the speculation that Pinky is a female.
Because its colour is so rare, Pinky and its mate s descendants have a small chance of
having pink dolphin calves. We just have to wait and ... Show more content on

Some people claim that it has a rare genetic disorder, and not albinism. That isn t
proved. Others say that it is an Amazon River Dolphin, but its skin is smooth and
splotch free, unlike the Amazon River Dolphin. Albinism is rare in animals, but
possible. It occurs when the cells responsible of making the pigment melanin fail
to produce enough, or at all. This is usually because of a deformation in a gene(s).
Pinky s dolphin might have both been normal, gray bottlenose dolphins, but each
carrying a gene with this deformation, and that probably led to Pinky s unusual
colour. This isn t the first time an albino dolphin was sighted. Carolina Snowball
was a popular albino bottlenose dolphin displayed at the Miami Seaquarium in the
early 1960 s. During the summer of 1994 in Little Lake near New Orleans,
Louisiana an all white dolphin was spotted in a group of 4 5 individuals, but was
only seen for 20 to 30 minutes and never seen again. Another all white dolphin calf
was first observed in a group of more than 40 dolphins south of Galveston, Texas in
September 2003. Albinism in marine animals is extremely rare; there have been only
14 recorded sightings of albino bottlenose dolphins since
Hitomi Cinderellana Alternate Ending
Konoha was in bloom. And Hitomi Hane hadn t seen anything so beautiful in a
long time like this village. From the banners waving slowly in the summer breeze
to the decorations and tender feeling of love radiating from every citizen, Hitomi
couldn t imagine anywhere she would rather be. Not even her homelands. Her eyes
were wide behind the fabric that covered half of the genin s face, a small smile
appearing on her face as she walked through the streets alone. She would have to
fly up later and get a better view, before they did the fireworks, since she couldn t
remember what the village looked like from the air. Every village was different and
if she wanted to train and become a scouting shinobi, a kanchi taipu, practicing now
wouldn t hurt.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She could buy Kiyoshi some flowers, maybe one of those wreaths she saw people
wear? Would he like that? Maybe...but if she got one for herself and then some for
Kiyoshi? Or if she got one for herself, found him, asked if he wanted one and then
got him one? That way she could spend more time with him. The teenager s face lit
up as she jogged over to the flower shop s door, tugging it open. Hitomi s senses
were bombarded from all the blossoms and plants that filled the store. This is so
beautiful... Hi there, can I help you, sir? Too engrossed by the colors and scents of
the flower shop, Hitomi didn t realize that the employee was addressing her. It
wasn t till the shop worker spoke again, looking directly at Hitomi with a smile that
the genin figured it all out. Sir. Suddenly Hitomi was painfully aware of her brown
robes, short hair, and...well her body. She knew she looked like a young boy but
she hadn t been called a guy in a long time as most in Kumokagure knew who she
was as heiress to the Hane Clan. But Konoha didn t know that. Hitomi s face
flushed as she looked down at her feet, shifting nervously, feeling confined in the
shop, too stuck without the sky above her. But to correct the shop worker would be
even more embaressing, for both of them, so Hitomi said nothing to the other
woman. I m...I m looking to buy one of the flower crowns that people are wearing
for the festival... she muttered, trying to make her voice low,
Narnia Biblical Allusions Essay
C.S. Lewis The Chronicles of Narnia is a series of books that contain a countless
amount of biblical allusions. In each of the seven total books of the series, there are
references to both characters and major themes in the Bible. For example, in the Lion
the Witch and the Wardrobe, there are many allusions to the Biblesuch as when
Edmund betrays not only his brother, Peter, and two sisters, Susan and Lucy, but
also Aslan in order to stay with the Wicked Witch in her palace. This is similar to
the story of Judas and the way that he leaves the disciples and betrays Jesus.
Furthermore, in the same book, Aslan is killed by the Wicked Witch for the sake of
Narnia similar to how Jesus is crucified for the sins of his people. Additionally, both...

This shows parallels to how Jesus and the Holy Spirit bring new life to those who
believe in Him and the promise that Christ will come back one day to reclaim His
people. Another book in the series that includes many references to the Bible is
The Last Battle. This is the last book in the series and shows many similarities to
the book of Revelation in the Bible and to the end of time. Not only does Aslan
have a false Aslan who is trying to deceive and overtake Narnia similar to Jesus
having an Anti Christ, Satan, who tries to tempt and deceive God s people, but
this last book also shows many parallels to the Judgement and last days on earth.
Both the Anti Christ and the Anti Aslan speak lies about the true Jesus and Aslan
and it is ultimately up to the Narnians and the people on Earth to accept or decline
the real Jesus and the real Aslan. Lastly, both the Bible and The Last Battle show
the struggles between good and evil in this book and offer hope in the return of the
real Aslan and the real Christ. Even The Magician s Nephew, the first book in the
series, shows allusions to the book of Genesis in the Bible and the world s

neuropsychological indices. It was discovered that neuropathology was criminals

in sex offenders. In the past, researchers discovered a link between neurologic and sex

History and Origin of the Vatican City
History of Vatican and Vatican City:
Vatican is regarded as the most ancient religious and political institution that exists in
the modern world because of its antique history. In addition to being the most ancient
political and religious institution, Vatican is the seat of independent, sovereign, and
Free State of Catholic Church s Government. Actually, this institution is the
shrewdest diplomatic political power across the globe with its diplomatic quality
being the most important worldwide. The shrewdness of its diplomatic political
power originates from its inclusion of the three major aspects of the Catholic Church
i.e. sovereignty, independence, and freedom. While it s diplomatic quality is
significant around the globe, its independence as a State is regarded as one of the
newest (Manhattan, 1949, p.11). Notably, the diplomatic and political power of
Vatican can be understood through tracing its history and the history of the Vatican
City.
Origin of the Vatican City:
Vatican City was formed on February 11, 1929 following the signing of the Treaty
of Conciliation by Benito Mussolini and the cardinal Pietro Gasparri, the State
Secretary of Pius XI. While the signing of the Lateran Pacts between Italy and the
Holy See paved way for the formation of this city, the pacts were ratified on June 7,
1929 ( Vatican City in the Past , n.d.). Since then, the nature of the Vatican City as a
sovereign State that is different from the Holy See is widely recognized under
The Future Is Bright with Fusion
With the world s supply of fossil fuels declining, alternative sources of power are
an important issue in the minds of scientists and world leaders alike. While
everyone scrambles to find the most effective way to harness solar, wind, and
water power, they forget about a form of producing energy that has been researched
for 70 years and is only a hair s breadth from being usable(26). Fusion, the same
power that fuels the sun, could fuel the world s homes and cars. A 1000 megawatt coal
fired power plant requires 2.7 million tons of coal per year(21) whereas proposed
fusion powerplant designs only require 250 kilos of fuel per year to produce more
power(22).That s 1/10800000 of the fuel required to run a coal fired plant. Even with
all fusion could accomplish, funding for it has been cut dramatically in the past few
years because of the inability of scientists to attain sustained fusion. Fusion is the key
to ending our dependence on coal, oil, and natural gas because sustained fusion would
produce 4 million times the energy that current methods produce and the fuel is
harmless and readily available.(thesis statement)
Producing electricity in almost any power plant is a very similar process. In each, a
fuel heats water into steam, which then flows through pipes to spin turbines. When
the turbines spin they produce usable power. The main difference between the
power plants are the form of fuel used and how it is used. In a coal fired, wood, or
natural gas power plant the fuel

The story begins with a black and white flashback of the moment when Derek
commits the murder of the two young Afro American s. Danny wakes up to see
one of the men standing by the front door but can t see whether he is armed or not.
He goes to tell his brother Derek who is in bed with Stacy, his girlfriend. Derek
takes a semi automatic pistol and sees two blacks and one in the car ready for a
getaway. Derek plunges out of the front door and shoots the first Afro American
several times and spots the other trying to run away. He takes aim and fires again
mortally wounding the second. The car driver speeds off with Derek firing several
shots at the car, emptying the magazine. In slow motion he goes back to the wounded

Danny looks over the same basketball park now and sees that the blacks are back on
it with Little Henry the black gang member that confronted Danny earlier on.
Derek didn t allow his family to visit or write to him for the three years while he
was in prison. Now he is released and Danny comes home to meet him after school.
They lost their original home after Derek had lost his job and Doris Vineyard.
Their mother is also unwell, coughing and lying on the couch suffering probably
from lung cancer. When Danny gets home, Derek notices the tattoo on Danny s
arm with the letters DOC underneath the logo. Danny tells Derek that it was
Cameron that had persuaded Danny to have it done. Derek is not impressed but
doesn t say anything. Seth arrives with his video camera to welcome back Derek.
Derek, meanwhile, is on the phone to Dr Sweeney who tells him about Danny s
assignment and Derek agrees to help Danny in his own way. Seth videotapes Danny
reciting right wing and skinhead ideology about hating that it is cool to be black and
the hip hop influence on the suburbs. Derek finishes his phone call and is listening to
Danny s views while shaking his head.
Derek assembles the family in the room while Seth is left outside waiting to get
something to eat. He tells them that he is planning to move them out of the area so
they can make a new start. Derek
Rhetorical Analysis Of Jane Addams Speech
The rhetorical devices found in the speech that Jane Addams wrote are hypophora,
metaphor, conduplicatio, enumeratio, and personification. Each of these devices has
a purpose in the passage, with the author combining all of the devices to strengthen
her essay. The most frequent rhetorical device in the passage is Hypophora, which is
when the author asks and answers a question. The author first mentioned hypophora
at the beginning of the passage to ask what makes a great man. She later shifts
toward an example of a great man, George Washington. The author then asks what
makes George Washington a great man, while also asking how he would handle
today s conflicts. The author chooses to use hypophora to emphasize what the
United States is missing in today s society. She uses George Washington s life as a
soldier, statesman, and a Virginia planter to show what parts of his personality are
missing in today s society. Addams asks questions such as What is it that we admire
about the soldier? (Addams 1) What was it he did, during those days when they were
framing a constitution, when they were meeting together night after night, and trying
to adjust the rights and privileges of every class in the community (Addams 1)
Would he not have foreboded evil if he had know that among us were groups and
hordes of professional politicians... not using our forsight and our conscience in order
to find out this great wrong which was snapping the foundations of self
government.(Addams 2) The
Incident Command System Vs Ics
For my Emergency Support Function assignment, I choose to research, and discuss
the Incident Command System ICS and the National Management Incident System
NMICS . In this paper I will compare the similarities, and differences the advantages
and disadvantages of each system, as it pertains to the Emergency Management
System.
The ICS system is a personnel management structure through which disaster response
is controlled. ICS was developed by the State of California as a method by which
earthquakes and other emergencies could be handled efficiently. Flexibility is a main
tenet of ICS. When properly implemented, the system allows the development of a
command chain of any size that can include government agencies and non
government organizations alike. Catlin Tidwell University of Washington

Span of control. Submits are established to limit the number of personnel directly
supervised by each unit manager. This is usually five subordinates, but the number
can range from three to seven.
Unit integrity. Personnel from a given professional discipline (e.g., police or fire) are
assigned to the same unit in the emergency response organization to facilitate
teamwork and also to simplify record keeping.
Unified command. Most incidents are managed by a single Incident Commander
(IC), but a Unified Command team manages the emergency response when multiple
agencies have statutory authority and responsibility for a specific type of incident.
Management of objectives. Senior incident managers develop actions plans that
include specific, measurable objectives and evaluate their effectiveness by monitoring
the achievement of these objectives.
Comprehensive resource management. The IC or Unified Command team direct the

Essay On Future Goals.pdf

  • 1. Essay On Future Goals Writing an essay on the topic of "Future Goals" can be quite challenging for several reasons. Firstly, defining one's future goals requires deep introspection and thoughtful consideration of personal ambitions, passions, and aspirations. This introspective process can be daunting and time-consuming as it involves contemplating one's long-term objectives and the steps needed to achieve them. Secondly, articulating these goals in a coherent and compelling manner requires effective communication skills. It's not just about listing aspirations but also about conveying why these goals are meaningful and how they align with one's values and interests. This requires clarity of thought and the ability to express oneself eloquently. Moreover, crafting an essay on future goals involves projecting oneself into the future and envisioning potential challenges and opportunities. This speculative aspect adds another layer of complexity to the writing process, as it requires balancing optimism with realism and considering potential obstacles and alternative pathways. Furthermore, the essay should not only focus on personal goals but also address how these goals contribute to broader societal or professional objectives. This requires research and an understanding of relevant trends and developments in one's field of interest. Overall, writing an essay on future goals demands a combination of self-reflection, communication skills, forward-thinking, and research. It's a task that requires careful planning, drafting, and revising to ensure that the final product effectively captures one's aspirations and motivations. In conclusion, while challenging, writing an essay on future goals can be a rewarding exercise in self-discovery and personal development. Allusions In A Tale Of Two Cities In Robert Alter s literary analysis of A Tale of Two Cities, The Demons of History in Dickens s Tale, his central emphasis converges with the ideal that the novel tends to stray from his preceding works. Alter essentially deems A Tale of Two Cities as an uncharacteristic expression of his genius (94), which he believes is a result of his distinctive writing style, deviating from his jollyness, humor, and warmth. He primarily believes that Dickens attempts to convey a strong sense of emotion by means of melodramatic storytelling to persist in a kind of splendid, self transcending unevenness (94). Alter also states the presence of religion is transparent through the anti Christian behavior of the French revolutionaries. The spilled wine at Defarge s shop displays The Blood of Christ and the grindstone later in the novel takes form of The Body of Christ, exhibiting new beginnings for slaughter and redemption. Alter as well claims the Carmagnole dance as a satanic ritual. The guillotine is also supposedly a religious symbol to the revolutionaries, replacing the cross. This ideal is exhibited through Sydney Carton dying for his friends on the guillotine, similarly to Jesus Christ dying on the cross. Sydney Carton, simultaneously in his execution, even mutters, I am the resurrection and the life (99), establishing a sense of divinity for himself, similar to Jesus

In this experiment, I will see how red cabbage can go from side dish to science. I used the chart below to determine each substances PH level by matching its colour to the chart below. The lower the PH level the more acidic, so a violet red color is highly acidic; whereas a yellow color is highly basic. I tested a few of the most common substances used in daily life: milk, soda, lemon juice and bleach. My results are the following: In my first test, I tried testing the PH level of milk. I first thought that milk would be basic, but after dripping some of the cabbage mixture into it, I discovered that it was light blue, which means that it was actually slightly acidic! After researching this, I found that this is true because milk contains lactic acid, which is responsible for the sour flavor of sourdough breads.

Before the start of WW2 we see a series of purges, Implemented by Stalin in hope of getting rid of political opposition. These affected the Red Armyduring the War. Due to this it enabled the Soviet forces to break through the German lines during the winter of 1942 and destroy the 6th and 4th Panzer Armies. Relating this back to the question, the loss of two major divisions would impact on both the morality of the Soviet and German forces, it would also stop the Germans from advancing in that route. In order to achieve this literary device that is major to our movie, we decided to use dramatic irony. For example, Maria makes a comment about Viola saying that she has a soft looking feminine face. Since Maria has not yet figured out that Viola is in fact a man, it adds to the irony. Another example is when Felix is talking to Viola, who he believes is Caesar, about how Duke Orsino was only hiring men for the internship. Viola talks about how she was willing to do anything about it (29 30). This works as dramatic irony as well because only Viola and the audience know what Viola meant by her statement. Viola s willingness to do anything meant that she was willing to disguise herself as a man. The ironic part is that none of the characters know that Caesar is actually Viola actually pretending to be a man. Our adaptation of this play can work as a movie because of the way we decided to set it up. Since we decided to modernize the play, our version of it can easily translate to screen. It works especially when specific stage directions are added to the script. For example, one of the stage directions describes that Viola flashes her I.D. She waits a while before Maria lifts her eyes from the screen and looks at the I.D. , which is found right under line 4. Simple, yet straight forward commands like that make it easy for whom ever is reading the script to know exactly what to do when it comes to acting out a part of the play. Because trust is a vital part of loyalty, it follows that creating trust amongst employees by treating them respectfully is likely to result in improved company performance and efficiency. This once again provides a quantifiable measure for trust in a capitalist economy. Trust is also dependent upon not lying. Companies that lie about their product are in essence diminishing the trust established among their customers and the community. This can be anything from providing misleading information about their products in advertisements or stating obvious falsehoods . For example, an obvious falsehood would be a deodorant company that claims that the user of the product is likely to attract women as a result of the product itself. Lying is always wrong because it undermines the trust that makes telling the truth useful. If no one could be trusted , and everyone lied about what they did, the business world would fall apart quickly as a business could not be assured of any one else s services. A business would not be able to do something as simple as take a loan out of a bank to afford its various activities. However, the dangers of radiation and the length of the trip from Earth jeopardize the mission for the humans on this mission to explore Titan. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... [1] [2] There are two ways to measure radiation, an US unit and a SI unit. The first unit used to measure radiation is radiation absorbed dose (rad) and it is use mostly in United States. The more commonly used measuring unit in the International Systems of Unit or SI is gray (Gy); 1 rad is equivalent to 0.01 Gy. Gray is also equivalent to one Joules per kilogram; however, radiation is measured in mGy or 1 /1000 of a Gy when measuring absorption of a biological entity. [2] On Earth, the layers of atmosphere shield us from most of the radiation that could ever reach us but not all radiation is filtered like UV radiation. If there was no atmosphere, the high energy particles can rip through the DNA s links and cause mutations (usually in the form of cancer). When a high energy particle affects the DNA/RNA or molecules, it can rip apart links or chains in the DNA/molecules. [3] The links that ripped apart a DNA can cause cancer and can affect chromosomes in the process. This process eventually leads to death if the DNA/RNA or cell is unable to repair the damage bonds. Exposure radiation can cause either an acute or chronic radiation poisoning. [3] Acute radiation is simply one large exposure to radiation either from high energy/ionized or cosmic rays. Instead of having one large exposure of radiation, chronic radiation is having small doses over time, hence the

Identifying The Patterns Of Social Acceptance In the context of parties of people, I was particularly interested in finding the patterns of social acceptance, and the ways that people incorporate themselves into groups. An example of such acceptance can be the pattern of individuals who completely ignore groups around them by staring at their phone; compared to those who strike conversations with people they haven t met before. Addressed, also, are ways that people use more passive technique to identify themselves and how this resembles their social circle. Note taking was taken in two spots with the overall time of note taking to roughly 1 hour. The first area was the quad. This area was where the majority of notes were written. I selected this area in particular because of the traffic during lunch hours. In order to get a good viewing angle of the quad, I sat under in the southwest corner of the quad and began taking notes. The other part of my notes were written in a more progressive manner. I specifically took notes of group patterns during lecture, and regularly would ask questions focused on such. Finding a correlation between the different questions asked, and a behavioral response is how I drew my conclusions. I am always fascinated between how people socialize. All these scenes bring out Anomie/Strain Theory, which espresses that Anomie is a state of deregulation, breakdown, or normlessness in society, usually attributed to decreased homogeneity , especially fit one of Durkheim s thesis where social order breaks down and social norms lose their influence, anomie develops and crime increases significantly (John A. Trey could walk on the right path of his life is mainly because of his father. Trey s father, is a financial adviser, and a persuasive dispenser of advice to his son. He makes Trey a right outlook on life. His strict, but loving discipline, stands in stark contrast to that in the home of Ricky and Doughboy. It is through morals and values that people such as Trey don t become strained by society because his father guides him. Make a contrast that when Doughboy and Trey, deciding to take revenge on the local gang who killed Ricky (Boyz N the Hood, 1991). Today people all over the world get these procedures done for many reasons. Some reasoning behind individuals getting plastic surgery is to fix a birth defect, deformability, or for cosmetic purposes. In today s society, getting plastic surgery for cosmetics purposes is very popular but with that comes many negative comments or thoughts towards that person getting these surgeries. Cosmetic surgery impact not just the person receiving it but everyone that sees those new features or changes. In the world we now live in I think body image is a big factor in many people s lives. A lot of people do not always feel comfortable in their own skin because of the different models and actresses or actors seen on television. I think when we see those different people on television or on the internet, we think that s how we should be able to look, this can make people have negative thoughts about their own body. In all reality, most of those people we see on television, magazines and social networks; almost all of those people have had some sort of plastic surgery to change their appearance. While these people change themselves they can send thousands of dollars on just one procedure. When someone has had over ten procedure done to themselves that dollar amount really starts to add up and that s just of the negative effects of getting plastic surgery.

The Apartheid soon became a major controversy within New Zealand, as many people prefered boycotting in opposition to it, instead of continued sporting contact. Following the Sharpeville Massacre, the international opposition towards apartheid increased dramatically, as the United Nations conservative stance changed to strongly oppose it. The massacre and the system itself caused many nations to institute sporting and trade boycotts onto the South African government. In 1968, the United Nations called for a sporting boycott against South African teams as a way to put pressure in the government there to ease apartheid laws. Many New Zealanders were opposed on a brobdingnagian scale towards apartheid, and the arrival of the Springbok Team in 1981 forced the nation to confront apartheid head on, as the government has been previously reluctant to impose sanctions. Apartheid had a lasting effect on New Zealand, and was the major cause of the Springbok Tour Protests and the debate still rages on today as people question the most effective way to end regimes around the world, through isolation, or providing governments political, economic and social incentives to end systems. The Los Riots, The Oklahoma Bombing, Vietnam Essay On April 20th 1999, Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris committed a planned mass murder at their high school killing 13 people and injuring 20 in just an hour (XxSlenderMotorX, 2012). They planted bombs throughout the school, but they did not detonate. Sadly, they also took guns to kill people, so even when the bombs did not go off they were able to go through with their act. • 34. Effects Of Alcohol Dependence On Family Relationship Alcohol dependence is on the rise throughout the United States, and effects a plethora of interpersonal relationships. This was exemplified in Under the Influence, by Scott Russell Sanders. Through much research and reading, I have learned more about how alcohol dependence effects family relationships, romantic relationships, and friend relationships. The negative effects of alcohol dependence on interpersonal relationships is very prevalent for all age groups, and is a problem that must be addressed. While many cannot tell the symptoms of alcoholismas easily as others, many studies have found that alcohol dependence is more prevalent than those would assume. Although many believe that alcohol only causes harm to the body, alcohol is the root cause of many problems throughout many interpersonal relationships across the globe. Alcohol dependence is sometimes known as alcoholism, and occurs when an individual relies on alcoholic substances to get through everyday life. A recent study by the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism found that 26.9 percent of people ages 18 or older have engaged in binge drinking in the past month, and 15.1 million adults age 18 and older have an alcohol use disorder in the United States. More than 10 percent of U.S. children live with a parent with alcohol problems (Grant et al, 2004). Alcohol dependence has the capability to severely hurt children and spouses mentally emotionally, as well as family dynamics. Often times, families blame themselves for a loved one s alcohol dependence, which causes tension and puts strain on the interpersonal relationships within the families. Children often times feel as though they are to blame, and when they notice a parent drinking heavily and frequently, they often assume that they are the cause. Children with an alcoholic parent are more susceptible to depression, anxiety, and alcohol abuse themselves. According to the Polish Journal of Public Health, children raised by alcohol addicted parent are influenced by some destructive biological, psychological and social factors. The greater number of stressors and time of their action, and the weaker developmental predispositions, the greater probability that mental problems appear

The poems that I have found and analyzed and found the most humourin are The Lanyard, Forgetfulness, Hangover and Schoolsville. The first poem I analyzed was The Lanyard. The speaker of The lanyard is a boy who tries to offer his lanyard that he made at camp to make up for all the loving care that his mother has gave him in his life. The boy addresses his mother as a very loving mother that has always taken care of him and done what is best for him. He talks up all the great things that his mother has given him and all he can give her is a lanyard. She gave me life and milk from her breasts, and I gave her a lanyard. Here is a breathing body and a beating heart, strong legs, bones and teeth, and two clear eyes to see the world to read the world with, she whispered, and here, I said, is the lanyard I made at camp. These lines from the poem are metaphors of not being able to give your mother what she deserves at a young age for all that she has done for you. No matter what you get her it will never scale to the amount to what she has done for you. The humour in this poem is sarcastic in a way because the speaker always

The shifting of equilibrium resulted in different color changes in different mixtures. In part 2 of the experiment we the aforementioned changes were more easily spotted. We saw the relationship between forward and reverse reactions. When NaOH was added to tube #8 we saw that the color changed from orange into yellow, in order to gain balance but when we added HCl back, the color again changed to orange. The teenager s face lit up as she jogged over to the flower shop s door, tugging it open. Hitomi s senses were bombarded from all the blossoms and plants that filled the store. This is so beautiful... Hi there, can I help you, sir? Too engrossed by the colors and scents of the flower shop, Hitomi didn t realize that the employee was addressing her. It wasn t till the shop worker spoke again, looking directly at Hitomi with a smile that the genin figured it all out. Sir. Suddenly Hitomi was painfully aware of her brown robes, short hair, and...well her body. She knew she looked like a young boy but she hadn t been called a guy in a long time as most in Kumokagure knew who she was as heiress to the Hane Clan. But Konoha didn t know that. Hitomi s face flushed as she looked down at her feet, shifting nervously, feeling confined in the shop, too stuck without the sky above her. But to correct the shop worker would be even more embaressing, for both of them, so Hitomi said nothing to the other woman. I m...I m looking to buy one of the flower crowns that people are wearing for the festival... she muttered, trying to make her voice low,
  • 43. Narnia Biblical Allusions Essay C.S. Lewis The Chronicles of Narnia is a series of books that contain a countless amount of biblical allusions. In each of the seven total books of the series, there are references to both characters and major themes in the Bible. For example, in the Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe, there are many allusions to the Biblesuch as when Edmund betrays not only his brother, Peter, and two sisters, Susan and Lucy, but also Aslan in order to stay with the Wicked Witch in her palace. This is similar to the story of Judas and the way that he leaves the disciples and betrays Jesus. Furthermore, in the same book, Aslan is killed by the Wicked Witch for the sake of Narnia similar to how Jesus is crucified for the sins of his people. Additionally, both... This shows parallels to how Jesus and the Holy Spirit bring new life to those who believe in Him and the promise that Christ will come back one day to reclaim His people. Another book in the series that includes many references to the Bible is The Last Battle. This is the last book in the series and shows many similarities to the book of Revelation in the Bible and to the end of time. Not only does Aslan have a false Aslan who is trying to deceive and overtake Narnia similar to Jesus having an Anti Christ, Satan, who tries to tempt and deceive God s people, but this last book also shows many parallels to the Judgement and last days on earth. Both the Anti Christ and the Anti Aslan speak lies about the true Jesus and Aslan and it is ultimately up to the Narnians and the people on Earth to accept or decline the real Jesus and the real Aslan. Lastly, both the Bible and The Last Battle show the struggles between good and evil in this book and offer hope in the return of the real Aslan and the real Christ. Even The Magician s Nephew, the first book in the series, shows allusions to the book of Genesis in the Bible and the world s

History and Origin of the Vatican City History of Vatican and Vatican City: Vatican is regarded as the most ancient religious and political institution that exists in the modern world because of its antique history. In addition to being the most ancient political and religious institution, Vatican is the seat of independent, sovereign, and Free State of Catholic Church s Government. Actually, this institution is the shrewdest diplomatic political power across the globe with its diplomatic quality being the most important worldwide. The shrewdness of its diplomatic political power originates from its inclusion of the three major aspects of the Catholic Church i.e. sovereignty, independence, and freedom. While it s diplomatic quality is significant around the globe, its independence as a State is regarded as one of the newest (Manhattan, 1949, p.11). Notably, the diplomatic and political power of Vatican can be understood through tracing its history and the history of the Vatican City. Origin of the Vatican City: Vatican City was formed on February 11, 1929 following the signing of the Treaty of Conciliation by Benito Mussolini and the cardinal Pietro Gasparri, the State Secretary of Pius XI. While the signing of the Lateran Pacts between Italy and the Holy See paved way for the formation of this city, the pacts were ratified on June 7, 1929 ( Vatican City in the Past , n.d.). Since then, the nature of the Vatican City as a sovereign State that is different from the Holy See is widely recognized under
  • 47. The Future Is Bright with Fusion With the world s supply of fossil fuels declining, alternative sources of power are an important issue in the minds of scientists and world leaders alike. While everyone scrambles to find the most effective way to harness solar, wind, and water power, they forget about a form of producing energy that has been researched for 70 years and is only a hair s breadth from being usable(26). Fusion, the same power that fuels the sun, could fuel the world s homes and cars. A 1000 megawatt coal fired power plant requires 2.7 million tons of coal per year(21) whereas proposed fusion powerplant designs only require 250 kilos of fuel per year to produce more power(22).That s 1/10800000 of the fuel required to run a coal fired plant. Even with all fusion could accomplish, funding for it has been cut dramatically in the past few years because of the inability of scientists to attain sustained fusion. Fusion is the key to ending our dependence on coal, oil, and natural gas because sustained fusion would produce 4 million times the energy that current methods produce and the fuel is harmless and readily available.(thesis statement) Producing electricity in almost any power plant is a very similar process. In each, a fuel heats water into steam, which then flows through pipes to spin turbines. When the turbines spin they produce usable power. The main difference between the power plants are the form of fuel used and how it is used. In a coal fired, wood, or natural gas power plant the fuel

  • 49. Rhetorical Analysis Of Jane Addams Speech The rhetorical devices found in the speech that Jane Addams wrote are hypophora, metaphor, conduplicatio, enumeratio, and personification. Each of these devices has a purpose in the passage, with the author combining all of the devices to strengthen her essay. The most frequent rhetorical device in the passage is Hypophora, which is when the author asks and answers a question. The author first mentioned hypophora at the beginning of the passage to ask what makes a great man. She later shifts toward an example of a great man, George Washington. The author then asks what makes George Washington a great man, while also asking how he would handle today s conflicts. The author chooses to use hypophora to emphasize what the United States is missing in today s society. She uses George Washington s life as a soldier, statesman, and a Virginia planter to show what parts of his personality are missing in today s society. Addams asks questions such as What is it that we admire about the soldier? (Addams 1) What was it he did, during those days when they were framing a constitution, when they were meeting together night after night, and trying to adjust the rights and privileges of every class in the community (Addams 1) Would he not have foreboded evil if he had know that among us were groups and hordes of professional politicians... not using our forsight and our conscience in order to find out this great wrong which was snapping the foundations of self government.(Addams 2) The
