Stigmas, judgments, and misconceptions surround the newest generation of today s
society, cleverly named the millennials, like a virus. This particular generation is
often subject to criticism and even mockery, both justified and not justified. Similarly,
the generation that is focused on in the events of the novel Lucky Jim by Kingsley
Amis has been given the title of entitled. This conception is shown through various
characters and their respective developments, such as Jim, Dixon, and Bertrand. As
Amis develops these characters, we begin to see why their reputation is both justified
and not justified, and Amis leaves most of that interpretation open to the reader.
Rather than forcing character traits by explicitly telling the audience how each
character thinks, he uses point of view to open up major character decisions to the
reader.
In order to look at the general feelings and actions of characters through the lens of
entitlement, it is important to define such a vague and often overused term. A TIME
Magazine article, titled The Me Me Me Generation, focuses on why millennials are
the most narcissistic, self centered generation in the history of western civilization.

Choice of language is one of the many ways one character can be distinguished
from another. If all the novel s characters speak in the same manner, there won t be
many ways to tell them apart. The way a person speaks can give insight on their
personality, upbringing and, even something as simple as age. Shelley s
characters all seem to speak with the same manner of speech. They all sound like
they are from upper class families. It s hard to distinguish one from the other
without indicators. The perfect example in this is found with Frankenstein s
monster. He learned to speak from books and listening to the people who lived in
the cottage he hid behind. This family would certainly would not have spoken in
the same fashion the Frankenstein family did. Yet, when the monster speaks he
sounds like Victor Frankenstein, an upper class gentleman. You also find this
issue with William Frankenstein, Victor s younger brother. William is supposed to
be six years old. His speech, however, is that of someone three times his age.
William Frankenstein talks like everyone else in the book. Thus, it s hard to
imagine him as a child. This is what makes novels so unique and a character s
speech so important. The only image the reader has of these people is that which is
created in their minds. When a young boy talks like a man, it s hard to see him as a
young boy. The image is distorted. Authors who have been writing for a long time
know this and try to match their writing to their character s personality to provide a

As a child growing up you meet many people that you like. Everyone tends to make
your day from the kind stranger whom gave you a dollar at the grocery store to

Pensive Bodhisattva and Korean Buddhist Art Our lives are closely connected
with an art. People easily regard an artwork as something that is far from our lives,
but it is always around us. Now, I would like to introduce one of Buddhist artworks
of Korea. The title is Pensive Bodhisattva. The artist is unknown. However, it was
made in mid 7th century during the Three Kingdom Period. The dimension of this
artwork is 8 7/8 inch and the medium is gilt bronze. It is located in Gallery 233
among other Korean artworks at the Metropolitan Museum of Art now. Pensive
Bodhisattvahas typical features of the Buddhist artworks. Also, the interesting
aspect is we can see the unique features of the Three Kingdom Period s artwork
through this sculpture. When we see this sculpture at first, the most noticeable
point is the bodhisattva s posture. He sits on the dais and he puts his right leg over
his left leg. The right leg also props his right elbow and his fingers especially the
forefinger and the middle finger touch his right chin and he rests his left hand
neatly on his right ankle. The description of his fingers and toes are very realistic.
When we see the fingers and toes, we can feel how the artist put his or her blood
into sculpting each fingers and toes. However, his posture seems agonizing. When
we take a closer look his face, his eyes are closed and he puts gentle smile on his

Another intrinsic sleep disorder is sleep apnea. While narcoleptics suffer from
sleep seizures, sleep apnea patients have difficulty breathing while they sleep.
Some sleep apnea patients become so relaxed it that their throat collapses and their
airways close. As was the case with a man name John. John would relax and go
into a deep sleep. His airway passage would close because his tongue had fallen to

His Social Contract begins with the renowned sentence Man is born free and he is

but it is the institutions that make him evil and that the alienation of man could

Carol Woodard, Guy Haskins, Grace Schaefer, and Linda Smolen address the issue
of bridging the gap between fluent speakers and non fluent speakers of English in
classrooms in the United States. The article explains how an urban school had tested
the children in kindergarten and the results of the test showed a nearly two year lag
in oral language development (2004, p.92). The large gap in oral language
development of the less fluent speakers can be detrimental to their education. The
school has to try to bridge the gap quickly in the early years of the student s
education; in order to catch the students up to the developmentally appropriate level
of oral language before it s too late. If the school is unable to bridge the gap the less
fluent speakers may be delayed in their reading and writing skills.
The school implemented a talk table to bridge the gap in oral language development

the American anti lynching crusade. Working closely with both African American
community leaders and American suffragists, Wells worked to raise gender issues

she wrote for the Conservator, published an expose of lynching, The Red Record,
and organized Chicago women regarding several causes, from anti lynching to
suffrage. From 1898 to 1902, Wells served as secretary of the National Afro
American Council, and in 1910 she founded and became the first president of the
Negro Fellowship League.
Throughout her life, Wells was militant in her demands for equality and justice for
