William Wordsworth s The Preface
Throughout history, at least until the late 1700s, poetry had always been centered on specific
guidelines that one must follow when expressing their feelings. However, once the late 1700s came
around in Europe, there was a sudden shift in the idealized poetry construction. The main reason for
this revolution was the publication of William Wordsworth s The Preface, which was a part of the
Lyrical Ballads, in which he stated his exact intentions for the Romantic Period of literature. This
period exemplified the radical changes that were beginning to occur in Europe, as well as other places
around the world.
In general, writers of this period expressed themselves through the use of imagination and emotion
instead of scholarly thoughts. In other words, they sought to use their inner eye in order to see the
world around them more clearly and accurately. Also, they believed all good aspects of life came
directly from nature, including the inherent good of humans as well as divine intervention. The writers
believed that by isolating oneself in nature, he or she would be able to become more self aware and
dependent. Due to this belief, the authors considered an important part of this period of literature to be
favoring the individual self over society as a whole. Various parts of life could be included in this, but
mostly just politics and social reform. Many poets were a part of this radical change in literature:
Samuel Taylor Coleridge, William Wordsworth, Jane Austen, and

Japanese American Detainment Camps
Although World War Two began in 1939, the United States did not enter the conflict until 1941. The
country s entrance into the war was caused by the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. After the
attack the government had suspicion that the Japanese Americans were spies. So, congress passed the
Executive order 9066, stating all Japanese Americans would be relocated to detainment camps. They
remained in these camps for two years. Japanese Americans faced many difficulties in the detainment
camps. After the bombing America saw the west Coast as the most vulnerable for more attacks
because they had such a high population of citizens with Japanese descent. Due to the high population,
rumors and fear spread like wildfire that the Japanese Americans

Theme Of Family In The String Of Pearls
Another issue it caught my attention is the fact that family is assumed to be the only one who is
always there for helping you, however, in this novel, family is everyone s only enemy. In Victorian
period, the idea of family as sacred was expanded through cultural media, social or political discourses
and education. Novels like this which included marriage and domesticity contained debates of love
and family either principal or secondary story. These kinds of work made people see family as a
source of real happiness, despite the fact that abhorrent mistreatment happened in many households. It
would be interesting considering what Marry Strauss, a domestic violence expert, says about this
issue; With the exception of the police and military, the family is perhaps the most violent social
group, and the home is the most violent social setting. (15) Even ... Show more content on

The working class was so unable to reach a proper style of life that had to try anything to achieve
success, even if that implicated to harm other people.
As Rosalind Crone points out in her book; In The String of Pearls , the social evil of anonymity is
successfully encapsulated in the character of the villain, Sweeney Todd, who, under the dark cloak of
the metropolis, and by taking advantage of the fragility of modern urban communities, could continue
to operate his murder machine for years without raising the suspicious of his neighbours. Although
some thought the barber was a little cracked , the people in the local community genuinely respected
this seemingly well to do businessman. His portrait on the first number of the 1850 novelette further
emphasises his external normality. (Crone

The Effects Of Tension In South Korea
Tension on the Korean Peninsula is almost tangible due to the North Korean threats of nuclear war.
Additionally, many in South Korea reportedly lament the state of socioeconomic inequality in the
country, a broad assortment of barriers. With all these and other pressures on Koreans today, citizens
have been finding innovative ways to channel their frustration and relieve some of their stress. It s
called the Seoul Rage Room, and it s a place people come simply to smash mostly household items
with other household items.
Customers at Seoul Rage Room wear protective gear, and that usually means a plastic poncho of sorts
with a safety helmet. They occasionally or, perhaps, upon request provide earplugs as well. The room

I feel refreshed after breaking the ceramics and bashing things up. This continually draws on data
from a 2015 study conducted by the Neuro Psychiatric Association. It found that nearly half of Korean
adults show signs of anger management issues, and it added that about ten percent were in need of
professional therapy. The youth in South Korea are actually every bit the poster boys and girls that the
elders are according to the Korea Health Promotion Institute who reported that twice as many Korean
students are discontent with life as what the OECD average indicates.
To some degree, it s partly attributable to ongoing tensions with North Korea. On Jan. 6, 2018, in fact,
negotiators from both ends of the peninsula met in a building on the border for the first time in two
years. It was a meeting that many watching the world stage and events unfolding in the Pacific theater

The Heart Of A Human
The heart of a human is a vital internal organ consists of cardiac muscles, which pump and circulate
blood contained oxygen, hormones and necessary nutrients throughout the body. Heart rate is the
amount of poundings of the heart per unit of time, usually in beats per minute (bpm). The heart rate
can change due to the body s physical needs including oxygen absorption and carbon dioxide
excretion. The normal resting heart rate of an adult human ranges from 60 to100 beats per minute.
During sleep, the heart can beat slower in the range of 40 50 beats per minute, which considered
normal. (Wikipedia, 2015)
From the initial observations, heart rates tend to vary from times to times especially with different
activities such as standing, running and lying down. The purpose of this experiment is to identify
what, if any, relationship exists between human s heart rates with the different intensity levels of any
physical exertion.
If a subject is exposed to different physical activity intensity levels for the same amount of time with
the heart rate recorded in beats per one minute. Then, the subject s heart rate will significantly increase
in relation to the higher intensity degrees of any physical exertion.
The exercises and even the anticipations of increasing physical activities can trigger the response of
autonomic nervous system to produce a more appropriate suite of physiological changes that prompt
the body for the exercise.
The systems that support muscular

Summary Of The White Man s Burden
According to William Easterly, the accomplishments of planned development are not impressive. In an
overly simplified process, governments invest capital to provide aid to developing countries (in this
case food aid), it then does not yield a specific result or target, and the aid goes somewhere unintended
(Easterly, 2006). In The White Man s Burden, Easterly discusses the notion that aid aims to please the
donor instead of their electorate, by focusing on the wrong projects, and project impacts are often not
measured scientifically (Easterly, 2006). In other words, development aid does more harm by fostering
a dependency in recipient governments (Diriye, et al., 2014). For developments sake, positive effects
are tarnished by the politicization ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In The Gambia, the government received foreign aid to develop rice projects for the purpose to
increase food security from 1966 to 1984 (Carney, 2008). It is important to note that this period from
1966 to 1984 is a period that evolved from the Second World War. As a result, the justification for aid
and development was to uplift nations from poverty. Furthermore, development was justified as a
moral obligation and as something that advances national interest (Eyoh, 2015). However,
development for the strict purpose of morality or poverty has unintended consequences. According to
Carney, the Gambian government utilized 25,000 hectares of land to facilitate food aid for rice
production. Today, only 10 percent of the initial irrigated land for food aid and food security purposes
remains in production by farmers (Carney, 2008). As these operations emerged, different labour
arrangements (human, mechanical and political) needed to develop in unison. Before the processes
were complete, changes in policy favoured the importation of rice instead of local production (Carney,

Reality is merely an illusion, albeit a very persistent one . Or should I say there are more sides to a
picture. I strongly believe that seeing is not believing. I believe this because of the 3 story s that I have

Now I will stop talking and tell you about my first story. In the story Magic in the brain it explains

Introduction
The need for cheap and efficient means of travel coupled with the development of motor vehicles has
seen a rapid growth in the automotive industry. The automotive industry encompasses all the
companies and activities involved in the manufacture of motor vehicles, including most components,
such as engines and bodies (EncyclopĂŠdia Britannica, 2014). Even though much of the manufacturing
nowadays is done by robots, computers and machines, the strongest and most luxurious vehicles are
still considered to be the ones that have had the most human involvement and effort applied on them.
This makes simple tools such as the cordless hand drill necessitous in the entire process because of
their wide range of uses and applications which will be further discussed in this report. Hand drills
today, are used in almost every industry that involves assembling individual components to make a
complete structure however, this report will focus on the design of a cordless hand drill specifically
for the automotive industry.

F Class Reflection
The past two and a half weeks have been an adventure for me, with Spies...Like Us: Cold War
Literature being perhaps my most engaging and interesting class this term. Each day I ve learned
something new, and I ve observed from a distance our F period class evolve. Through watching others
receive criticism and ridicule, and experiencing such ridicule myself on certain occasions, I hold the
firm belief that this course has succeeded, and far surpassed my expectations, in its experiential
learning aspect. On Wednesday, November 29, the first day of English for the winter term, I remember
walking into the classroom and being told to push my chair away from the Harkness table for not
wearing red. That day, we watched a documentary on the Iron Curtain, and I had taken notes with my
notebook in my lap quite an uncomfortable experience. After classes that day, I had assumed that the
wear red policy was a practical joke an introductory activity and I left my calendar for the next day
blank. When I walked into the classroom on Thursday, I immediately knew I had made a mistake. For
a second day in a row, I was exiled from the Harkness table. As I stared at the chalk board that class
period, I vowed to myself never to make the same mistake again. From then on, I have had a calendar
entry for every English day that reminded me to wear red. That Thursday was the last time I neglected
to wear red to English class this past Turkey Term. Although I only had a few pieces of red clothing,

Persuasive Essay On How To Stop Bullying
Bullies can be found in every school. However, they can be hard to spot. That is why teachers and
students should always be on the lookout for bullying, and not hesitate to stop it if they discover a
bully. In this situation, Martha is being teased by people that seem to be her friends. What is said
doesn t seem to be teasing, though. The jokes hit too close to home and are extremely hurtful.
However, we are not positive this is a case of bullying. If I were one of the bystanders in this type of
situation, I would try to stop the bullying, because the teasing could get worse as time goes on, Martha
might not be able to stop the bullies on her own, and I would want someone to help me if I was being
bullied. The first reason I would try to stop Martha s bullies is because the teasing could get worse as
time passes. The comments are already hurtful, but they could become something even more serious if
no one intervenes. For example, when you first get clothes, they are not usually very comfortable,
because they re tight and haven t been worn. But the more you wear them, the more comfortable they
get, and eventually you ve worn them so much you need new clothes. This could be the case with
Martha s bullying. The more the girls bully Martha, the more comfortable they get with teasing her.
Eventually, they ll buy new clothes , which represents them adopting a harsher form of bullying. Then,
the process will start all over again, and the bullying will get worse and worse.

School Programs For Empowering The Youth
After School Programs for Empowering the Youth
The wide spectrum of Los Angeles County has as much variety as tourist sites, as told by the media on
one end. However, on the other end, unfortunately Los Angeles County also consists of highly
disorganized cities and high crime areas. Cities like Huntington Park and Compton are considered
deviant places as described by Siegel (2011) because they are poor, densely populated, and highly
transient neighborhoods (p. 71). Therefore, making these communities at higher risk for engaging in
crime. Also, since the majority of parents living in these communities are working parents, in which
most of them leave their children without parental or guardian supervision during the danger zone,
which consist of after school hours from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. During this time children are unsafe and
have a high possibility to engage in drugs and/ or participate in gang activity. Thus, it is important for
local schools to provide the community with quality after school programs since they deliver a safe
environment where the youth have the ability to learn a variety of skills and more importantly stay out
of trouble. However, there is greater availability of after school programs for K 8 students, leaving
high school students at a disadvantage. Thus, there is a greater need for after school programs to be
implemented in high schools since this is the age group that is most vulnerable to crime activity,
especially teenage males. Youth males are

become one of the world s most influential counties. Brazil is one of the BRICS countries. BRICS
refers to Brazil Russia India China and South Africa becoming economic figures due to their newly
advanced economic development. Much of brazil s increase in wealth comes down to the vast amount
of natural resources in the country such as Iron ore a resource craved by many large manufacturing

Originally intended to combat the 2008 recession, however since the large boom of brazil s economy,
public spending has continued to grow, with public spending at high levels and inflation currently at
6% a full 1.5% above the target level of 4.5%, the fiscal policy has the potential to create major issues
for Brazils long term growth and sustainability. With the need to cut around 2.5% of Government
spending in order to continue to have a surplus whilst re paying loans and interest on its loans Brazil
could see its decrease in unequal wealth distribution reversed and actually cause further polarisation
by being unable to fund the least wealthiest. Brazil s need to reduce its spending comes at a difficult
with more expenses than usual to deal with, such as the world cup in 2014 and The Olympics in 2016,
meaning public money needs to be invested increasing infrastructure such as sport venues, roads and
airports. This could cause problems to Brazil s continued development and success, however if done
to success Brazil could benefit from these great sporting events with possible increased trade,
exposure and tourism.
On the whole Brazil is a country continuing to grow and achieve both economically and socially this
can be seen in a variety of ways from its inclusion in the BRICS to its higher levels of GDP in recent
years.

Anti-Aging Benefits Of The Mediterranean Diet
Anti Aging Benefits of Mediterranean Diet
September 15, 2016
Jonathan Swift said, Everybody wants to live forever, but nobody wants to grow old.
Wouldn t it be nice? If we could stay healthy and young, living as long as possible would be great.
Because that is a deep down desire of the majority, many people are always on a quest to slow down
the aging process.
So, our question for today is: What are the Anti Aging Benefits of the Mediterranean Diet?
First, we must acknowledge that no diet in the world can halt or slow the aging process. Aging is
inevitable and food is not the elixir of life although the type of food you choose can lengthen or
shorten your life.
What has been proven by numerous studies is that the Mediterranean diet ... Show more content on

There is a wide assumption that healthy food is not delicious. They believe that they must live on a

much rather have a fast food burger and cheese fries instead it s easier and tastier.
What they don t know is that the Mediterranean Diet is filled with DELICIOUS AND HEALTHY

Americans.
The foundation of the Med Diet is fresh vegetables. In the US, vegetables are typically an
afterthought, with unhealthy choices like fried potatoes being classified as vegetables.
When you make vegetables the center of your meals, you will get your daily dose of antioxidants to
fight the free radicals in your body; plus give your body necessary nutrients and keep your skin

explores the beyond budgeting approach and looks at the alternative flexible methods available. In
Summary, although the managing director could continue to use the incremental system, it is
recommended that an Activity Based Costing strategy is adopted. Although the current incremental
method is simple and easy to understand, it has many drawbacks making it unsuitable for today s
economic environment. 1.2 Objectives Taking into consideration the current economic climate, to

The promotion of formula and follow on milk is designed to increase sales not to provide accurate
information to mothers.
This now means that formula manufactures cannot promote their product to a mother before the
government s guidelines of breastfeeding exclusively for six months. Manufactures now discuss their
products as follow on milk referring to the end of the breastfeeding process.
Low levels of breastfeeding as a threat is also recognised at a local level, using the Child Health
Profile for Derbyshire, (CHIMAT 2014), it indicates that breastfeeding initiation and breastfeeding
prevalence at 6 8 weeks after birth were significantly worse than England average . Within Derbyshire
promotion is helped through The Breastfeeding Welcome Here Award, this allows companies to
promote breastfeeding by allowing and encouraging mothers to feed their baby within their
establishment. This award is free to sign up for and the implications would mean the business, such a
cafés, libraries and schools, would welcome women to breastfeed in their establishment which reduces
the stigma related to breastfeeding in public and increases the confidence of the mother. Bradshaw
(1972), cited in Steinbach (2009), complied a taxonomy of needs in relation to children s

The Dyson Air Multiplier Essay
1. The Dyson Air Multiplier
1.1. Introduction
In October 2009, the british designer and innovator, Sir James Dyson best known for his line of
vacuum cleaners with cyclone technology launched a new product onto the market, a desktop fan
called the Dyson Air Multiplier, (Financial Times, 2009). This report gives a short description of this
innovation and explains in what way it is innovative. Next, its position in the product/service/system
spectrum will be explained and finally the potential for the widespread diffusion of this innovation
will be discussed.
1.2. A short description of the innovation, and its innovative aspects
The first electric fan was invented by wheeler in 1886, consisting of two blades, without the protective
cage, run by an electric motor (Carmack, 2009). Over the years, with the advancement in technology,
fans have become much lighter, safer, and more efficient. However, even though there are many styles
and sizes to choose from, the product s architecture has not changed significantly (figure 1 and 2 ).
According to James Dyson, the problem with design as such is that the fan chops the air and produce
an uneven air flow, causing buffeting which people usually do not find pleasant; in addition,
conventional fans are unsafe for young children and difficult to clean (Etherington, 2009). Unsatisfied
with these flaws, along with the inspiration from another of his innovations, the Airblade hand dryer,
Dyson created the Air

Why The Longview Drug Education Program Should Have A...
The researcher will use the population of Longview, Missouri to collect the data for this program
evaluation. The current population will be pulled from seven public schools and three private schools.
The population will be approximately 4,000 students from public and private schools on the Longview
area. The methods that will be used to collect this data will be the use of a survey, focus groups, and
historical data collected from local law enforcement and the board of education. The data will be
collected pre program implementation and post implementation for comparison purposes. The
researcher s direction of this study is to develop sample sizes that will represent the population of
students in grades K 12th grades. The methodology used to identify this population will be purposive
sampling. Purposive sampling is when a researcher picks the participants on purpose, as they are
considered the most appropriate for the study. As noted earlier, the purpose of this study is to
determine whether the Longview Drug Education program will have a positive or negative impact on
students drug use. Therefore, participants must be in the city of Longview school system and be in
grades K 12th grade. Due to the time restraints and cost issue, the survey will be only distributed to
the children meeting the earlier criteria. The survey will include question pertaining the objectives of
the program. For the purpose of this evaluation, the researcher elected to do web based survey.

Freedom In George Orwell s Nineteen Eighty-Four
Ludwig von Mises once stated, Freedom can only be won by men unconditionally committed to the
principles of freedom (Mises 95). Throughout George Orwell s novel, Nineteen Eighty Four, the
protagonist, Winston Smith, is caught between the bounds of his individual perception of freedom and
society s contrasting reality. While much of the society around him mindlessly follows the Party and
Big Brother, Winston finds himself stopping to question what makes mankind free. As he begins to see
the truths in the world around him, he is placed in a conflict with the Party s interests and with Big
Brother. The propaganda that surrounds the capitulation towards Big Brother and his absolute power is
the basis of Orwell s theme regarding the dangers of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Through this means, The Party has under its control a whole population who has been taught not to
question what is presented to them. They instead adopt Newspeak the language of The Party which
removes the most basic of freedoms slowly from the human language. Winston eventually realizes that
if there is any hope of defeating The Party, it must be a widespread revolution that starts with the
average citizens of Oceania, also known as the proles. He finds, however, that any rebellion of the
proles is unlikely, as Winston writes in his own journal, Until they become conscious they will never
rebel, and until after they have rebelled they cannot become conscious (Orwell, Nineteen Eighty Four
62). The Party in this case has absolute control of every thought and action of the majority. This fuels
the conflict between Winston and The Party, because he feels that he needs to work to help rebel
against this oppression and to do his part in order to take down Big

The Jilting Of Granny Weatherall
Common among classic literature, the theme of mortality engages readers on a quest of coping with
one of the certainties of life. Katherine Anne Porter masterfully embraces the theme of mortality both
directly and indirectly in her story, The Jilting of Granny Weatherall. Understanding that all mankind
ultimately becomes subject to death unleashes feelings of dread and anxiety in most people; however,
Granny Weatherall transitions from rushing to meet her demise in her sixties to completely denying
she is on her deathbed when she is eithty. Readers have seen this theme of mortality reverberated over
and over in literature, but what makes this story stand the test of time is the author s complexity. In
Katherine Anne Porter s The Jilting of Granny Weatherall, the important and overarching theme of
mortality can be found throughout the story s many complex characters, detailed plot, and surprising
plot points.
Porter utilizes several characters to driving her theme of mortality; such as Granny Weatherall, Dr.
Harry, and Cornelia. The most interesting ideas on mortality surround the main character, Granny
Weatherall. Her character stops living life to the fullest at a young age when she is jilted at the altar by
her lover. This tragic event kills something inside her, though she is determined to prove she is not
affected by the event. A state of denial becomes her strongest characteristic as she denies her mortality
throughout most of the story by talking about and

Supplemental Childcare Program Essay examples
Supplemental Childcare Program
Families reliance on childcare has risen significantly over the past 30 years. In 1993, 9.9 million
children under age 5, needed care while their mothers worked (Bureau of the Census, 1995). More
than two thirds of all infants receive nonparental child care during their first year of life, with most
enrolled for about 30 hours each week (National Institute of Child Health and Human Development,
1995).
There are many different programs in the United States that provide extended day childcare for
working parents. Programs such as the 6 to 6, YMCA, etc are available in the morning before school
and in the evening after school. Although these programs provide parents the much needed care of

Needs of the Agency . The daycare and child development business is booming and profits are
soaring. With more people looking at the child care field from different angles, these type of programs
have more opportunities for more allies and partners, for funding and positive public relations, for
improving, and professionalizing the programs that we offer to our children in our communities. Non
profit groups and higher education have increasingly partnered with schools, often including after
school hours.
There have already been so many agencies, such as Harmonium Inc., that have stepped up to the plate
to support child care programs such as the 6 to 6, that gaining support from other agencies, as well as
big business, would not be a great challenge.
Research
Many businesses pride themselves on productivity. They promise to deliver a high quality product
with expediency and efficiency. But how will all this be accomplished, if many employees are out,
taking care of their sick children? How will the product be delivered? Is the incentive of higher
productivity and greater profits enough, for big business to back this idea? Would the employees

Theme Of Ode On The Death Of Goldfishes By Thomas Gray
The ultimate goal many desire is material wealth, chasing fortune in their careers, relationships, or
recreation. Morals and intellect sometimes deteriorate in pursuit of this goal, as the coveted wealthy
status takes precedence over the weight of virtue. Thomas Gray, in his Ode on the Death of a
Favourite Cat Drowned in a Tub of Goldfishes , pokes satiric fun at the use of the ode while
simultaneously constructing a cautionary moral about materialism. Crafting the story of the archetypal
tragic hero, the poet idolizes the muse of his piece only to watch her collapse into the inevitable fate of
her flaws. Gray s tone begins quite reverent and melodramatic, building up the beloved cat, then later
shifts to a satiric and cautionary tone, warning readers against the dangers of pursuing empty wealth.
Gray establishes the idolization common in an ode, taking on a reverent tone to open the piece by
building upon the beauty and character of the cat. Employing imagery, the poet compares the cat and
her surroundings to beauty and riches, establishing her worth and her vanity. He notes the velvet of her
paws and emerald eyes , depicting the luxurious beauty of the cat and indicating that she appears
expensive in all of her splendor. The use of velvet and emerald associate the feline with expensive
items, increasing her worth in the reader s eyes. Coupled with purring of applause , a depiction in
which Selima celebrates her own appearance, these expensive comparisons also

  • 2. William Wordsworth s The Preface Throughout history, at least until the late 1700s, poetry had always been centered on specific guidelines that one must follow when expressing their feelings. However, once the late 1700s came around in Europe, there was a sudden shift in the idealized poetry construction. The main reason for this revolution was the publication of William Wordsworth s The Preface, which was a part of the Lyrical Ballads, in which he stated his exact intentions for the Romantic Period of literature. This period exemplified the radical changes that were beginning to occur in Europe, as well as other places around the world. In general, writers of this period expressed themselves through the use of imagination and emotion instead of scholarly thoughts. In other words, they sought to use their inner eye in order to see the world around them more clearly and accurately. Also, they believed all good aspects of life came directly from nature, including the inherent good of humans as well as divine intervention. The writers believed that by isolating oneself in nature, he or she would be able to become more self aware and dependent. Due to this belief, the authors considered an important part of this period of literature to be favoring the individual self over society as a whole. Various parts of life could be included in this, but mostly just politics and social reform. Many poets were a part of this radical change in literature: Samuel Taylor Coleridge, William Wordsworth, Jane Austen, and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The country s entrance into the war was caused by the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. After the attack the government had suspicion that the Japanese Americans were spies. So, congress passed the Executive order 9066, stating all Japanese Americans would be relocated to detainment camps. They remained in these camps for two years. Japanese Americans faced many difficulties in the detainment camps. After the bombing America saw the west Coast as the most vulnerable for more attacks because they had such a high population of citizens with Japanese descent. • 4. Theme Of Family In The String Of Pearls Another issue it caught my attention is the fact that family is assumed to be the only one who is always there for helping you, however, in this novel, family is everyone s only enemy. In Victorian period, the idea of family as sacred was expanded through cultural media, social or political discourses and education. Novels like this which included marriage and domesticity contained debates of love and family either principal or secondary story. These kinds of work made people see family as a source of real happiness, despite the fact that abhorrent mistreatment happened in many households. It would be interesting considering what Marry Strauss, a domestic violence expert, says about this issue; With the exception of the police and military, the family is perhaps the most violent social group, and the home is the most violent social setting. The working class was so unable to reach a proper style of life that had to try anything to achieve success, even if that implicated to harm other people. As Rosalind Crone points out in her book; In The String of Pearls , the social evil of anonymity is successfully encapsulated in the character of the villain, Sweeney Todd, who, under the dark cloak of the metropolis, and by taking advantage of the fragility of modern urban communities, could continue to operate his murder machine for years without raising the suspicious of his neighbours. Although some thought the barber was a little cracked , the people in the local community genuinely respected this seemingly well to do businessman. His portrait on the first number of the 1850 novelette further emphasises his external normality. (Crone ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Additionally, many in South Korea reportedly lament the state of socioeconomic inequality in the country, a broad assortment of barriers. • 6. The Heart Of A Human The heart of a human is a vital internal organ consists of cardiac muscles, which pump and circulate blood contained oxygen, hormones and necessary nutrients throughout the body. Heart rate is the amount of poundings of the heart per unit of time, usually in beats per minute (bpm). The heart rate can change due to the body s physical needs including oxygen absorption and carbon dioxide excretion. The normal resting heart rate of an adult human ranges from 60 to100 beats per minute. During sleep, the heart can beat slower in the range of 40 50 beats per minute, which considered normal. (Wikipedia, 2015) From the initial observations, heart rates tend to vary from times to times especially with different activities such as standing, running and lying down. The purpose of this experiment is to identify what, if any, relationship exists between human s heart rates with the different intensity levels of any physical exertion. If a subject is exposed to different physical activity intensity levels for the same amount of time with the heart rate recorded in beats per one minute. Then, the subject s heart rate will significantly increase in relation to the higher intensity degrees of any physical exertion. The exercises and even the anticipations of increasing physical activities can trigger the response of autonomic nervous system to produce a more appropriate suite of physiological changes that prompt the body for the exercise. • 7. Summary Of The White Man s Burden According to William Easterly, the accomplishments of planned development are not impressive. In an overly simplified process, governments invest capital to provide aid to developing countries (in this case food aid), it then does not yield a specific result or target, and the aid goes somewhere unintended (Easterly, 2006). In The White Man s Burden, Easterly discusses the notion that aid aims to please the donor instead of their electorate, by focusing on the wrong projects, and project impacts are often not measured scientifically (Easterly, 2006). In other words, development aid does more harm by fostering a dependency in recipient governments (Diriye, et al., 2014). For developments sake, positive effects are tarnished by the politicization ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In The Gambia, the government received foreign aid to develop rice projects for the purpose to increase food security from 1966 to 1984 (Carney, 2008). It is important to note that this period from 1966 to 1984 is a period that evolved from the Second World War. As a result, the justification for aid and development was to uplift nations from poverty. Furthermore, development was justified as a moral obligation and as something that advances national interest (Eyoh, 2015). However, development for the strict purpose of morality or poverty has unintended consequences. According to Carney, the Gambian government utilized 25,000 hectares of land to facilitate food aid for rice production. Today, only 10 percent of the initial irrigated land for food aid and food security purposes remains in production by farmers (Carney, 2008). As these operations emerged, different labour arrangements (human, mechanical and political) needed to develop in unison. Before the processes were complete, changes in policy favoured the importation of rice instead of local production (Carney, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 10. F Class Reflection The past two and a half weeks have been an adventure for me, with Spies...Like Us: Cold War Literature being perhaps my most engaging and interesting class this term. Each day I ve learned something new, and I ve observed from a distance our F period class evolve. Through watching others receive criticism and ridicule, and experiencing such ridicule myself on certain occasions, I hold the firm belief that this course has succeeded, and far surpassed my expectations, in its experiential learning aspect. On Wednesday, November 29, the first day of English for the winter term, I remember walking into the classroom and being told to push my chair away from the Harkness table for not wearing red. That day, we watched a documentary on the Iron Curtain, and I had taken notes with my notebook in my lap quite an uncomfortable experience. After classes that day, I had assumed that the wear red policy was a practical joke an introductory activity and I left my calendar for the next day blank. When I walked into the classroom on Thursday, I immediately knew I had made a mistake. For a second day in a row, I was exiled from the Harkness table. As I stared at the chalk board that class period, I vowed to myself never to make the same mistake again. From then on, I have had a calendar entry for every English day that reminded me to wear red. That Thursday was the last time I neglected to wear red to English class this past Turkey Term. Although I only had a few pieces of red clothing, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. Persuasive Essay On How To Stop Bullying Bullies can be found in every school. However, they can be hard to spot. That is why teachers and students should always be on the lookout for bullying, and not hesitate to stop it if they discover a bully. In this situation, Martha is being teased by people that seem to be her friends. What is said doesn t seem to be teasing, though. The jokes hit too close to home and are extremely hurtful. However, we are not positive this is a case of bullying. If I were one of the bystanders in this type of situation, I would try to stop the bullying, because the teasing could get worse as time goes on, Martha might not be able to stop the bullies on her own, and I would want someone to help me if I was being bullied. The first reason I would try to stop Martha s bullies is because the teasing could get worse as time passes. The comments are already hurtful, but they could become something even more serious if no one intervenes. For example, when you first get clothes, they are not usually very comfortable, because they re tight and haven t been worn. But the more you wear them, the more comfortable they get, and eventually you ve worn them so much you need new clothes. This could be the case with Martha s bullying. The more the girls bully Martha, the more comfortable they get with teasing her. Eventually, they ll buy new clothes , which represents them adopting a harsher form of bullying. Then, the process will start all over again, and the bullying will get worse and worse. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. School Programs For Empowering The Youth After School Programs for Empowering the Youth The wide spectrum of Los Angeles County has as much variety as tourist sites, as told by the media on one end. However, on the other end, unfortunately Los Angeles County also consists of highly disorganized cities and high crime areas. Cities like Huntington Park and Compton are considered deviant places as described by Siegel (2011) because they are poor, densely populated, and highly transient neighborhoods (p. 71). Therefore, making these communities at higher risk for engaging in crime. Also, since the majority of parents living in these communities are working parents, in which most of them leave their children without parental or guardian supervision during the danger zone, which consist of after school hours from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. During this time children are unsafe and have a high possibility to engage in drugs and/ or participate in gang activity. Thus, it is important for local schools to provide the community with quality after school programs since they deliver a safe environment where the youth have the ability to learn a variety of skills and more importantly stay out of trouble. However, there is greater availability of after school programs for K 8 students, leaving high school students at a disadvantage. Thus, there is a greater need for after school programs to be implemented in high schools since this is the age group that is most vulnerable to crime activity, especially teenage males. Evaluating The Current Incremental Budgeting System 1.1 Executive Summary This report reviews the company s current incremental budgeting system, explores the beyond budgeting approach and looks at the alternative flexible methods available. In Summary, although the managing director could continue to use the incremental system, it is recommended that an Activity Based Costing strategy is adopted. Although the current incremental method is simple and easy to understand, it has many drawbacks making it unsuitable for today s economic environment. 1.2 Objectives Taking into consideration the current economic climate, to investigate how beneficial a beyond budgeting approach would be, in regards to flexibility and financial control of the business. According to conceptcarz.com, the Runabout AND Tonneau both ran on a single cylinder engine that ran on only about 6.5 horsepower, but could likely go up to 10 horsepower. At the time, the engine that Cadillac ran on was nicknamed The Little Hercules About 2,400 models of the Runabout and Tonneau were sold in 1903, giving Cadillac a very good start in the automobile industry. I think the reason for Cadillac s huge early success was that the car was truly one of a kind. It came with the newest technology of it s age, and offered a look and feel of luxury like no other car on the market could ve possibly offered. According to the Runabout and Tonneau official Wikipedia page, the one cylinder engine that Cadillac produced for the two debut models were only offered from 1903 1908. This is interesting because 1908 was still before the first Chevrolet was made. So just think about this, Cadillac was already moving on from single cylinder engines while Chevrolet still hadn t been founded or produced their debut vehicle. To me that is just insane, considering the fact that Chevrolet who is owned by General Motors are now partners, and basically own the Cadillac brand! Oh how the roles have flipped over the ... • 26. The Dyson Air Multiplier Essay 1. The Dyson Air Multiplier 1.1. Introduction In October 2009, the british designer and innovator, Sir James Dyson best known for his line of vacuum cleaners with cyclone technology launched a new product onto the market, a desktop fan called the Dyson Air Multiplier, (Financial Times, 2009). This report gives a short description of this innovation and explains in what way it is innovative. Next, its position in the product/service/system spectrum will be explained and finally the potential for the widespread diffusion of this innovation will be discussed. 1.2. A short description of the innovation, and its innovative aspects The first electric fan was invented by wheeler in 1886, consisting of two blades, without the protective cage, run by an electric motor (Carmack, 2009). Over the years, with the advancement in technology, fans have become much lighter, safer, and more efficient. However, even though there are many styles and sizes to choose from, the product s architecture has not changed significantly (figure 1 and 2 ). According to James Dyson, the problem with design as such is that the fan chops the air and produce an uneven air flow, causing buffeting which people usually do not find pleasant; in addition, conventional fans are unsafe for young children and difficult to clean (Etherington, 2009). • 29. The Jilting Of Granny Weatherall Common among classic literature, the theme of mortality engages readers on a quest of coping with one of the certainties of life. Katherine Anne Porter masterfully embraces the theme of mortality both directly and indirectly in her story, The Jilting of Granny Weatherall. Understanding that all mankind ultimately becomes subject to death unleashes feelings of dread and anxiety in most people; however, Granny Weatherall transitions from rushing to meet her demise in her sixties to completely denying she is on her deathbed when she is eithty. Readers have seen this theme of mortality reverberated over and over in literature, but what makes this story stand the test of time is the author s complexity. In Katherine Anne Porter s The Jilting of Granny Weatherall, the important and overarching theme of mortality can be found throughout the story s many complex characters, detailed plot, and surprising plot points. Porter utilizes several characters to driving her theme of mortality; such as Granny Weatherall, Dr. Harry, and Cornelia. The most interesting ideas on mortality surround the main character, Granny Weatherall. Her character stops living life to the fullest at a young age when she is jilted at the altar by her lover. • 31. Theme Of Ode On The Death Of Goldfishes By Thomas Gray The ultimate goal many desire is material wealth, chasing fortune in their careers, relationships, or recreation. Morals and intellect sometimes deteriorate in pursuit of this goal, as the coveted wealthy status takes precedence over the weight of virtue. Thomas Gray, in his Ode on the Death of a Favourite Cat Drowned in a Tub of Goldfishes , pokes satiric fun at the use of the ode while simultaneously constructing a cautionary moral about materialism. Crafting the story of the archetypal tragic hero, the poet idolizes the muse of his piece only to watch her collapse into the inevitable fate of her flaws. Gray s tone begins quite reverent and melodramatic, building up the beloved cat, then later shifts to a satiric and cautionary tone, warning readers against the dangers of pursuing empty wealth. Gray establishes the idolization common in an ode, taking on a reverent tone to open the piece by building upon the beauty and character of the cat. Employing imagery, the poet compares the cat and her surroundings to beauty and riches, establishing her worth and her vanity. He notes the velvet of her paws and emerald eyes , depicting the luxurious beauty of the cat and indicating that she appears expensive in all of her splendor. The use of velvet and emerald associate the feline with expensive items, increasing her worth in the reader s eyes. Coupled with purring of applause , a depiction in which Selima celebrates her own appearance, these expensive comparisons also ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
