Compare And Contrast New England And Southern Colonies
New England consisted of Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, and New Hampshire. While
the southern colonies were Maryland, Virginia, South Carolina and Georgia. Even though both of
them were in the New World they differ religiously, economically, socially and politically. Both,
New England and Southern colonies, made an impact on the development of culture. New England
s motive to settle there was for freedom of religion due to being in England if they worshiped other
religions not been the Church of England, consequences would be imprisonment, fees,
discrimination, and even execution. They had two main religious established, Pilgrims and
Puritans, been two different religions. Pilgrims were the first permanent settlers on New England.1

Comparing Christian Beliefs In Islam And Christianity
Muslims and Christians share the belief that both God and Jesus exist or have existed. Although
the two religions accept this, their view points are quite different. Muslims believe that Jesus was a
prophet, while Christians believe Jesus was not only the son of God, but also the messiah. Both
religions believe in the same God, but Christians believe that God is part of the holy trinity.
Muslims do not accept this as part of their faith. Despite how similar these two religions are,
Muslims and Christians continue to argue about their beliefs. Christians believe that Jesuswas the
son of God, given birth from the virgin Mary, and was sent to save us from our sins. Part of the
Christian faith is after Jesus spread his message and performed various miracles, he was crucified,
died, and then was resurrected three days later. This belief creates the Christian religion in a sense,
because without Jesus resurrecting with fulfillment of the scriptures, he could not come back to his
disciples and more thoroughly prove that he is the son of God. Christians see God and Jesus as
being part of the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Muslims believe God as being one almighty power, who does not share his divinity. This directly
goes against the Christian belief of God being part of the holy trinity, where God shares his
divinity with Jesus and the Holy Spirit. Jesus plays an important role in both religions. In Islam,
Jesus is a crucial prophet who performs miracles and delivers God s message, while Christians
believe Jesus was the messiah. As the messiah, Christians believe Jesus freed them of their sins by
dying on the cross. Muslims disregard this completely, and instead believe that Jesus never actually
died and that Muhammad was the prophet to end all prophets. Although these religions are very
similar in their beliefs, Muslims and Christians do not agree on who Jesus was and the oneness of

What Is Ralph Ellison s Perception Of Invisible Man
Ralph Ellison is an American Author who wrote influential literature, essays, and literary criticism,
such as the renowned and highly recommended Invisible Man. Since Ellison s death editors and
friends Callahan and Bradley dedicated themselves to seeing Ellsions work through, sifting through
thousands of pages of unfinished manuscripts, the two composed Juneteenth and Three Days before
the Shooting. Each of Ellison s novel are connected by one common thread, Ellison s desire to
portray a realistic depiction of American culture. While readers must settle for a murky and
shadowy view of Ellison s perception of American life, some theories are more clear and consistent
than others. For instance, In the formation of his literary endeavors, Ellison... Show more content on

Where Men Win Glory, by Jon Krakauer
Where Men Win Glory is an ironic euphemism for war. The title is ironic because there is nothing
glorious about war or the way it ended Pat Tillman s beautiful life. Jon Krakauer orchestrates this
masterpiece with his diligently, articulated descriptions and with a timeline sewn together from the
threads of two worlds. The author s style can best be characterized by his challenging, precise
diction and his ability to fluently intervene pertinent quotes and facts that further persuade the
reader toward his cause. Throughout the book, the author s tone harnesses resentment towards the
militant hierarchy; for through its ingenuousness, deceit, and manipulation, the military uses Pat s
death as propaganda to bolster the war s support.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Where Men Win Glory epitomizes the ideal environment for a family to thrive and advance. As
a child, Pat and his brother were left to their own devices when playing in their expansive
backyard. With few TV channels and an infinitesimal media presence, Pat and Kevin
experienced a nurturing home that instilled positive virtues and allowed them to grow as human
beings from an early age. This enabled them to be who they were mature, sophisticated, and
virtuous human beings. Even with that being said, sometimes one must undergo a momentous
change to hasten the learning curve Pat was no exception. Change is a hackneyed clichГ© for
what can truly be a life altering metamorphosis into something special. Perhaps the greatest
contributor to a great man, change solidified Pat s resolve, aided him in reevaluating his
priorities, and humbled his reckless demeanor. This was completed in a month s work a month
Pat spent in a juvenile detention center. When he finally emerged from the bleak confines of
seclusion with people much worse than him, he realized who he was and that this was not him.
If such an experience would affect more people in this manner, crime and terrible people would
be a thing of the past; however, the world is not a perfect place which makes people like Pat even
more respectable. For, beneath the polite façade of so many, few are half the man Pat Tillmanwas.

God calls his people to obedient. In return for obedience, God promises to provide. During the
time of Solomon the people of Israel lacked obedience. God as king was no longer good enough.
Israel s lack of obedience caused them to anoint a king that also lacked faith in the Lord. Man is
broken and even great leaders have flaws. Israel s demand for a king ultimately resulted in the
division of the kingdom.
During the time of Samuel, the people of Israel desire a king. God had promised to provide for
the Israelites and in return God asked for obedience and love. Throughout the Old Testament God
always provided for the Israelites yet God s people regularly rejected him. ... Show more content on

Although Saul met all qualifications of what the ideal king should resemble, he lacked the most
important trait, obedience to God. Saul was identical to the rest of the people of Israel and
wanted to reign his way. Saul s disobedience caused his fall, For example, his usurpation of
priestly functions while awaiting Samuel to offer the sacrifices at Gilgal before the battle with
the Philistines caused God to vow that he would remove the kingdom from Saul (Hindson 165).
God rejected Saul as king because of his blatant disobedience of God s commands, and God chose
David as the forthcoming king.
Saul was the ideal king the Israelites desired. David was the king Israel needed. David was not
tall or handsome but he was a man of God. When David defeated Goliath, not only did he fully
trust God, David gave all the glory of his victory to God. David possessed the vital attribute that
Saul never had, obedience to God. David trusted in God s timing and plan. Despite David having
the opportunity to kill Saul and reign over Israel , David continued to follow God s commands.
In 1 Samuel 24:19 20 Saul said to David after spearing his life, When a man finds his enemy,
does he let him get away unharmed? May the Lord reward you well for the way you treated me
today. I know that you will surely be king and that the kingdom of Israel will be established in your
hands (NIV). Unlike Saul David was obedient to God. God rewarded David for his obedience by
anointing him King and later

What Foreign Aid Is Essay
What Foreign Aid Is
There are two words that many politicians like to shy away from, and those two words are,
foreign aid. Taking a firm stand on either side of this topic is usually side stepped by decision
makers. Their opinions are usually based on a case by case analysis. This extremely controversial
topic involves whether or not to support the policy of foreign aid to needy or sometimes not so
needy countries. What benefits does foreign aid have for the countries that receive it, and does it
have any benefits for the countries who give? Some may say that instead of spending money on
foreign aid, money should be spent on domestic aid.

Some people would still be against this type of aid, and their argument would be that if money
that goes to Mexico was invested in helping small business get started, America would be less
dependent on other countries for their goods or services. In this case the nay sayers were proven
wrong because Mexico recently repaid the United States in full, plus interest, and a year in advance.
Another form of foreign aid is a certain amount of credit is given to the receiving country in order
to buy American made goods only. This form of aid not only helps the country in need, but it also
pumps money into the US economy. Still some may wonder why should we care about a country
such as
Russia, to whom the U.S. has recently given aid to recently. The U.S. can t afford to have an ex
superpower unstable economically because of their nuclear capabilities. Because Russia is in the
unstable beginnings of a democracy the
U.S. wants to keep Russia on the right track. If that includes giving them aid in order to help feed
their people, then that is what the U.S must do. Because reinstatement of the old regime would
result in turmoil throughout the world.
After communism was overthrown in the former Soviet Union the world went through big
changes. There was no longer two world super powers, and all of a sudden a
40 year cold war ended. As stated the U.S. uses foreign aid as a tool to implement their political
views in other countries.

Ottoman Domes
The dome is considered one of the most important architectural elements in Islamic culture and the
dome became a very important architectural element during the Ottoman time period and many of
these domes drew from earlier Islamic and the Hellenistic Roman world. The dome is one of the
most important elements of the Ottoman time period and they were known for being one of the
main cultures in history to incorporate domes as a main component in their architecture. Ottomans
used domes in mosques (the largest domes were reserved for mosques), madrasas, and tГјrbes.
Monumental domes began to appear in the 14th century in the Ottoman capital Bursa, in the 15th
century in Edirne and after the conquest of Constantinople in Istanbul. This paper will address the
domes built under the Ottomans from the late 1300s to the 1600s. However, it is important to note
that early Ottoman architecture was heavily influenced by both Seljuks and the Byzantines their
immediate predecessors. The dome itself, as built by the Ottomans are almost all hemispherical in
shape. Theresa Grupico explains that Domes and tent canopies were associated with the heavens in
Ancient Persia and the Hellenistic Roman world. A dome over a square base reflected the
geometric symbolism of those shapes. The circle represented perfection, eternity, and the heavens.
The square represented the Earth. An octagon was intermediate between the two.
The Ottoman empire began modestly, as a principality of the western vanguard

Using Signing Statements
Ramification of Using Signing Statements
According to Strauss (2006), the presidential signing statements have come out of obscurity and
into the headlines. Along with salutary attention to an interesting issue, the new public visibility of
signing statements have generated much overblown commentary. The desire to make these little
known documents interesting to the public and to score points in the inevitable political battles
over any practice engaged in by a sitting President has produced a lot of discussion that misleads the
public. Signing statements constitute a striking official power that has recently caught insightful
and political consideration. Earlier writing recommends that presidents utilization signing
statements to increase extra strategy concessions from Congress. Confirmation of approach
inspirations are, nonetheless, hard to exhibit and arrangement thought processes neglect to clarify a
wide range of existing statements.
Evans (2007) infers that the affluent antiquity of the U.S. presidency is confused with illustrations
of presidents endeavoring to practice their influence through this apparatus. The initially archived
utilization of the signing statement is when President Monroe issued an announcement to ensure
his presidential privilege. Be that as it may, the instrument did not turn into a generally utilized vital
weapon until the Reagan organization had the capacity to get it included into the administrative
history (Kelley 2007). Kelley

The Rhetorical Analysis Of The Blackbird
The song, Blackbird, was written by the iconic British boy band The Beatles in 1968. During this
time period, the civil rights movement was on the rise and people had very conflicted views about
racism and how they should cope with it. Innocent lives were lost and people were struggling both
physically and emotionally. Blackbirds lyrics and melody gives you a taste of that struggle and pain
those individuals went through in their lives. The song is expressing about having perseverance
and faith in the midst of trials that come your way.
Therefore, the song starts itself off with a calm melody and the following lyrics, Blackbird
singing in the dead of night. With these lyrics, the listener can easily be thinking of a bird literally
singing in the night. However, when further explored in the context, there is actually more
meaning to these lyrics that set the mood for the rest of the song. For example, this particular line
is actually referring to the loneliness a person is going through in their life. Since the person is all
alone in the night, singing to themselves, it is clear they are lonely and have nobody to be around
with. When The Beatles singer, Paul McCartney, sang this song he also put a lot of emphasis on the
word night. Which is why, when further explored in the lyrics, it could represent the constant
darkness the person is going through when they are trying to live their life, but cannot escape
because they have no one to help them along in their journey.

Essay on How Social Tensions Led To Wit
The history of witchcraft during seventeenth century New England is inherently a history of direct
confrontations within communities where relationships become tainted with suspicion, revenge
and anger. The documents in Witch Hunting in Seventeenth Century New England have retold the
events and stories of Puritan New England to give the modern reader an understanding of the
repressive social institutions of religion and family structurewhich were controlling factors that lay
behind the particular cases discussed in the book. However, in order to really interpret the structure
of witchcraft, it is important to consider that social tensions(most likely a dispute or argument)

A situation that demonstrates this is the case of Blanche Bedortha and her painful fits. Blanche
blamed her ailments on Hugh based on an argument between him and Rice Bedortha, her husband.
When having her fits, Blanche distinctly recalled the dispute and at once suspected that Hugh had
used witchcraft on her (Hall 36). This demonstrates that Hugh was considered troublesome, and to
accuse him of witchcraft would be the perfect punishment or reprisal.
Actions of a person can also cause social tension among the town. The way a person behaves,
acts, and responds can differentiate from the ordinary to the weird. In Puritan society, anything out
of the normal is very suspicious, especially when someone does not react to a situation they way
society would. Many people were accused of witchcraft because they behaved abnormally to a
death of a family member or a neighbor. When Moxon s child died, Hugh did not have any emotions
or sympathy. This attitude combined with the past argument that they had, Moxon immediately
accused Hugh of witchcraft. Again, this case happened again when his wife Mary accused him of
witchcraft. This was due to the fact that Hugh once more had no emotions when his kids died.
When accusations were released, the accused would in no way regain their social standing ever
again, even if they were found innocent after a trial. Magnified suspicions and distrust increased the
social tension between the accused

The Social And Social Problems And Effects Of Smartphones
Nearly all of today s society has a smartphone in hand. As a whole, we depend on this phone in
the same aspect as we did a baby blanket in our childhood. Major mental health issues, such as
lack of social skills, memory problems, and stress are due to this technology. These are some of the
biggest concerns when it comes to owning a phone, unfortunately, the effects are not fully realized.
These devices have brought several problems in user s lives, despite supposedly making it easier.
Everyday human social interactions are suffering due to the part smartphonesplay. Furthermore,
being connected through this technology is something that is bragged upon, but users are not as
connected as they would like to think. Unfortunately this constant communication gives a false
sense of connection, because when they are faceto face there is little interaction. Turkle states that
communication between family members when Parents text and do email...while children complain
about not having their parents full attention ( 3.) Parents are no longer paying attention to what
their child is doing whether it be a baseball game or dance competition they are overwhelmed with
demands on their time. Walsh et al. says that the behavioral reaction is a needto compulsively check
their device[s] for any messages or updates (qtd. In Hardwood et al. 268). It is not just parents that
have this problem. All of society is too busy looking at their smartphone to notice what is going on
around them.

The Rendlesham Forest incident, or better known as it s nickname Britain s Roswell, occurred

Mother To Son Tone
Mother to Son is by Langston Hughes and was published December 1922, in Crisis Magazine.
Mother to Son also reappeared in Hughes s first collection of poems called The Weary Blue in
1926. This monologue is delivering a message of hope through imagery. A mother was explaining
to her son that she has faced many challenges in life but she was still set on never giving up and
succeeding in life. The mom wanted to give her son the same advice that although things may get
hard and he may face many challenges and setbacks in life, she proclaimed that he should never
give up.
This poem is based on the idea of hope and reassurance to move on in life, regardless of all the
challenges that may come your way, or no matter how tough life may become. The mother displays
her love for her. The force behind her love is best stated through the idea of never giving up in
life period. The mother is constantly giving guidance and encouragement to her beloved son. The
mother has been faced with many challenges of life, and she wants her son to be brave and
confident in the face of these challenges that may occur and to also succeed in life. The poem
gives insight to the mother past experiences. The poems tone can be one that is best described as
moralizing, heartening, and hopeful. The message is relayed in this poem to the reader through the
conversation between the mother and her son. The mother states, Life for me ain t been no crystal

Like McMurphy, Luke makes terrible choices that eventually leads to his death. Luke is a war
hero, a man who should be celebrated and saluted wherever he goes, and yet, he chooses to
drunkenly cut the heads off of parking meters, winding up in work farm instead. Luke becomes
a hero to his fellow inmates, much like McMurphy with the patients, emboldening them with his
carefree smiles and jests. It is evident that Luke regrets his choices when he talks to his dying
mother; he laments that he tries but can never stay on the right path (Cool Hand Luke). It is not
difficult to discern Luke s American Dream. He also wants the ideal life of freedom, wealth, and
happiness, but, as with McMurphy, he makes choices that prevent him from achieving said
Dream. It is easier to pretend that fictional characters like McMurphy and Luke are inhumane,
much like the murderers and rapists, and should not be considered as possible paths of life for
ourselves or those around us. This is where the concept of anti hero is relevant, for these
characters, however psychopathic or criminal they may be, are human flawed but still human. No
one on this world can to be perfect, for humanity is unique for its imperfections, its flaws. These
characteristics are our strengths but are also our weaknesses. To declare that we are better than
those who have made mistakes, is irresponsible and dangerous. It is imperative to admit to

The Brown V. Board Of Education Essay
The Brown v. Board of Education was a case that was initiated by members of the local NAACP
(National association Advancement of Colored People) organization in Topeka, Kansas where
thirteen parents volunteered to participate of the segregation during school. Parents took their
children to schools in their neighborhoods in the summer of 1950 and attempted to enroll them
for the upcoming school year. All students were refused admission and were forced to attend one
of the four schools in the city for African Americans. For most parents and students, this involved
traveling some distance from their homes. These parents filed suit against the Topeka Board of
Education on behalf of their twenty children. Oliver Brown who was a minister, was the first
parent to suit against the problem, so the case came to be named after his last name. Three local
lawyers, Charles Bledsoe, Charles Scott and John Scott, were assisted by Robert Carter and Jack
Greenberg from the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund. Oliver Brown had declared that
Topeka s racial segregation violated the Constitution s Equal Protection Clause because the city s
black and white schools were not equal to each other and never could be due to the way things
were. The federal district court dismissed his claim, ruling that the segregated public schools were
substantially equal enough to be constitutional under the Plessy case doctrine. Brown appealed to
the Supreme Court, which made it more effective and then

Stricter Dress Code
Dress codes have always been taken into great consideration, but now they are becoming an
immense part of school requirements. For years, some schools have created stricter dress code
rules, while others have made more accessible rules. Part of the administration considers shaping a
stricter dress code, but others disagree. Yes, students should continue to make smart choices about
their clothing, but a stricter dress codewould only result in more problems. We should have our
original dress code remain and not make any changes to it because it would restrict students from
expressing their feelings, and some dress code rules can be sexist toward girls.

A Review Of A Literature Review On Bullying
Literature Review
Introduction
Bullying is a very negative offense that is described as repetitive behavior that harms or hurts
another person physically, socially or emotionally; and is an imbalance of power in which the target
cannot stop the behavior and defend themselves (National Bullying Prevention Center, 2016e,
para, 2). Additionally, it creates major problems for everyone in general, and all those who are
involved, principals, social workers, teachers, and the schools. According to NBPC, research and
statistics have proven that bullying tends to change, if not ruin the lives of many people in a
harmful or tragic manner. Many long or everlasting detrimental effects occur as a result of bullying.
Poor mental health, behavior disorders, and loss of academic interest or skills have been associated
to bullying. Additionally, there is a strong correlation between school violence and suicide. It is
crucially important for students and their families to understand that there are many resources and
help available. According to research, the effects of bullying can distort or destroy the lives or
future of many innocent victims. To broaden the perspectives and knowledge on bullying, this
paper will focus on its definitions, roles of bullying, characteristics and environmental factors that
influence and develop bullying. Finally, I hope to describe prevention or intervention resources and
programs, which have been effective in teaching parents and students how to

The Application Of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles
Nowadays, new technology is rapidly shaping the way how construction projects are delivered. The
application of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) is one of these examples. Unlike conventional
aerial measurement by aircraft, it doesn t require expensive aeronautical facility and trivial
procedure. Comparing to other surveying approaches like using the GPS navigation, the UAV
systems can outperform in many large scale projects by saving cost and time. There many
explorations to potential applications of UAVs budget and schedule control, construction
innovation, and safety practices. However, in the United States, the Federal Aviation
Administration (FAA) regulations and many state regulations often prevent or limit the wide use of

To fulfill that goal, the booming technology like point cloud technology can be utilized with the
UAVs. In construction aspect, the point cloud data is a set of coordinates produced by 3D scanning
process which executed by the UAVs. By software like Geomagic Studio, the point cloud data for
the job site can be converted into 3D topographic, or the sections inside the building can be
transformed into 3D models. By the year 2018, the domestic UAV industry is expected to grow to
be a $13.6 billion market (Hanna, 2014). Due to the small payload of the UAVs and the movement
attributions in the flight, the most of unmanned aerial vehicles utilized in the construction site
cannot be equipped with professional cameras. However, the data collected by UAVs still meets the
accuracy requirements for the construction. Comparing to other surveying options like using
measure station or GPS equipment, the data collected by UAV systems can still outperform the data
measured by traditional equipment and techniques in cost and time. Therefore, with proper
construction strategy, the UAV systems with point cloud can be a promising tool for construction.
It is important for construction managers to consider value engineering which means balancing
three elements: quality, cost, and schedule in the construction process. Basically, applying UAV
system with point cloud technology can improve the overall construction efficiency through three
aspects: improving the

Biography Of Shirin Neshat, The Third Religious City Of Iran
Born in Qazvin, the third religious city in Iran, in 1957, Shirin Neshat was sent to the United States
at the age of 17, to study art at the UC Berkley. Her father was a physician, who under the influence
of the westernization the fashionable idea of the era and rejecting all the traditional values, sent his
children abroad to continue their studies.
After receiving her MFA in painting, willing to learn more about the western art, Neshat moved to
New York, attended many art classes and artists meetings, and that was when she met her future
husband, a Korean curator Kyong Park, who was the director and founder of Storefront for Art and
Architecture. She calls that time as a good opportunity to get exposed to different artistic ideas and
events.
Stranded in America by the 1979 Islamic revolution in Iran, Neshat returned to her country in 1990
for the first time. She found this journey extremely shocking, due to the huge amount of difference
in Iranian costumes and social behavior, between the after revolution time, and what she could
remember. I had never been in a country that was so ideologically based . She could remember that

dictatorship and the influences of the Western beauty industry, was adopted by educated feminists
in the 1960s and 1970s, and now many women treated the chador as a captive uniform.

Educational Implications for Heidegger s Views On Poetry And Thinking
ABSTRACT: I discuss some of the educational implications emerging from Heidegger s views on
poetry, thinking, and language. Specifically, Heidegger s views on the neighborhood between
poetry and thinking suggest that most accepted methods of teaching poetry are in error, because
they ignore this neighboring relation. The importance of this relation is presented and clarified. I
then discuss the implications of Heidegger s view for teaching poetry. Heidegger s series of three
lectures, later published as The Nature of Language has some very significant implications for
education. (1) In this paper I focus on the second lecture. In opening his second lecture, ... Show

Thinking about language means entering a region where method does not reign. It means following
a specific path in that region. But in thinking about the nature of language we encounter specific
problems. When we speak of the nature of language, we are already using language to discuss its
nature. Furthermore, we are already acquainted with the nature of language as people who use it,
even if we cannot clearly articulate and define this nature. In short, we are entangled in a lagging
behind the topic of our inquiry. There is a way out of our predicament. If we look around the region
of thought, without taking the entanglement lightly, we will note that what Heidegger calls the
country of thinking is open in all directions to the neighborhood of poetry. Thus, today, when
scientific method tends to suffocate thinking, we can return to thinking through reading and
listening to poetry.
To be specific, the fact that the country of thinking is open in all directions to the neighborhood of
poetry, can often help a person follow those paths of thinking that concern him or her. How? Quite
often if you read and listen to great poetry with an openness to the language and to the thoughts and
experiences expressed in the poem, and with a comportment to think about what you heard, with

Advanced Care Paramedic (ACP)
A recently graduated working paramedic is referred to as an Advanced Care Paramedic, or an
ACP. An ACP follows a clinical structure, the first aspect of the format is called a primary survey
which collects all emergency patient information. This compulsory technique aims to identify and
control catastrophic medical events to ensure patients have the best outcome possible (Hodegetts et
al., 2011). When conducting a primary survey of a patient an ACP would follow the basic structure
of danger, response, airway, breathing and circulation; usually shortened into the acronym DRABC
(Woo, 2000).
To begin the primary survey, DRABC should be started as soon as possible (QAS reference). It is

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Standardization Of Language
Talking about dialects , a term often mentioned along is standard language . When being brought
into comparison with dialect , standard language usually serves as a legitimate variant with the
highest level of excellence (Bex Watts, 1999). Though positive in nature, standardization the
procedure of standardizing a language often raises heated controversy because of its consequences
on not only linguistics field but also the society. In the second part of the essay, I will focus on the
disadvantages of language standardization.

Non standard dialects are regarded with contempt, mistreated as improper forms of a language.
Linguists and researchers reported that speakers of minor varieties seem to form negative
attitudes towards their culture, rating their own varieties badly and lacking respect for them
(Lambert et al., 1960; Genesee Holobow, 1989, as cited in Campbell Kibler, 2011). With the fear
of being prejudged, speakers of other dialects begin to feel inferior about their vernacular dialect
and start to use the variety with higher status when they are surrounded by outsiders and they
would employ their dialect again only if they are with their tribes (Petyt,

Paper On Conflict Theory
Conflict Theory is a social and economic factor. It is seen as inequality in gender, race, crime and
wealth. Conflict Theory was developed by the theorist Karl Marx, who believed that conflict
theory is split into two groups: the wealthy and the poor. Marx labels the wealthy as those who
control and the poor are labeled as those who are controlled by the government, law or other
authority.
Conflict theory means you are labeled based on who you are. Karl Marx states that someone will
be labeled based on the social class they belong to. He also states that the society that you belong to
gives you the power in making laws. Those who are not privileged, are poor or are in a lower social
class suffer the consequences of being treated differently. Gender as defined by conflicttheory
implies that men manipulate the power and privileges given to women. Conflict theorist argue that
the only reason these roles are persists is because the dominate group naturally works to maintain
their power and status (Boundless.com). In many cultures men have control over power and wealth
and the woman is forced to depend on man. That is why gender has caused conflict ... Show more

neglected by politics. Whites think they are more superior than anyone else. They think that only
whites should be allowed to have power. They also think they should be wealthier than any other

in shaping an individual s identity.
In the short story The Glass Roses by Alden Nowlan. Nowlan portrays the idea that adversity is
part of our lives, and this adversity shapes us as individuals. But in the face of adversity an
individual must either strive to fulfill their individual self interests and ideas or abandon them to

Theme Of Eyes In Nawal El Saadawi
It is said that the eyes are the gateway to the soul. This holds true in a myrid of places, from a
poker table, to a relationship to our eye movements while we sleep. Books and other artistic
enterprises are no exception to this. Perhaps this is because of eyes inherent attraction to us.
regardless, In Nawal El Saadawis woman at point zero, eyes are used by the author to illustrate and
emphasize ferdos relationships with others. Using the avenue of eyes, Firdaus makes connections
with many other people in the book. One of the few characters in the novelthat was depicted
positively by Firdaus was her former teacher, Miss Iqbal. Ferdaus s affection is transmitted and
expressed by the author in the description of Miss Iqbal s eyes, two rings of pure white,
surrounding two circles of intense black...the white seemed to turn even whiter, and the black
even blacker, as though light flowed through them from some unknown magical source, (El
Saadawi 29). Words such as pure and intense powerfully express the respect and love she has for
her kind teacher, rather than the oppression that she faced from the violence and brutality of the
other characters in the novel. This quote appears again on page 87 when Firdaus is describing
Ibrahim, the only other character in the novel that she ever fell in love with, who also disillusions
her and takes advantage of her. Firdaus intensely misjudged Ibrahim, proving that eyes can be
deceiving. Firdaus relies on the eyes to determine who

Dr. Hart As A Guest
The podcast I chose to write about was the one with Dr. Carl Hart as a guest. I chose this podcast
because it was the one that I found most relevant and interesting. Dr. Hart is a professor of
psychology and psychiatry at Columbia University. His field of interest is that of drug abuse
and addiction, he recently wrote a book about these topics titled High Price . Dr. Hart has a very
interesting point of view when it comes to drugs in society, for example one of his beliefs is that
all drugs should be decriminalized in America, another one of his controversial opinions is that
drug users can be fully functioning members of society as opposed to how they are regularly
viewed. Dr. Hart s research and opinion are very valuable in the nation s current debate on
drugs; this is not only due to the fact that he represents a very prestigious university, but also
because of his more than 20 years of experience in the matter. As aforementioned, one of Dr. Hart
s views is that all drugs should be decriminalized in our country. He explains in the podcast the
difference between decriminalization and legalization. In a coun try where drugs are
decriminalized, drug possessors may be fined; adversely in a country where all drugs are legal,
their use for recreational purposes carries no legal penalty. I do not completely agree with his
views on this matter, I believe that drugs such as cocaine, heroin, meth amphetamines, and similar

The Conflict Between The Middle East Region
Modern political discourse in the United States, particularly in the realm of foreign policy (whether
it occurs in the academic community, political institutions, or in the press), has increasingly
become more focused on the Middle East region. The United States continues view the Middle
East as an area of instability in which the country s economic interests, particularly oil, are often
threatened and at risk. The on going Israeli Palestinian conflict, which has lasted over sixty years, is
a prime opportunity for the United States to take initiative in both protecting its interests in the
Middle East region as well as forming stronger alliances with Arab states through the process of
cooperation via negotiation. Careful analysis of the history and strategies utilized in the ongoing
conflict between the Israelis and the Palestinians reveals that Israels policy of deterrence and military
dominance over Palestinians is in fact oppressive and unjust at times (and that Palestinian
resentment is a rational response). The United States decision to continually support Israel with
substantial aid (backed by public opinion and taxpayers) severely damages the United States
reputation with Arab countries in the region; limiting the United States effectiveness in foreign
policy in the region as a whole. In order to protect United States interests, bring more stability to the
area, and encourage more cooperation between Arab states and the United States in the Middle

Analysis Of The Movie Evicted
Evicted is a novel that follows the story of families who struggle with losing their homes, and the
hurdles they have to jump to survive. The events that take place in this novel take place in
Milwaukee, Wisconsin. According the American Housing Survey, 1991 2013, a majority of poor
renting families spend at least half their income on housing. Poverty is a major problem in
America and the price of housing doesn t help. The first family the novel introduces is the family
of Arleen and her sons. Their story starts with one of Arleen s sons, Jori, throwing a snowball at a
car. The driver retaliated by kicking down the door in their apartment. This led the evictionof Arleen
and her family. As winter was setting in, Arleen found an available room in Sherrena s building.
Landlords have their own share of troubles and the previous tenant had called a building
inspector, which would have costed Sherrena a lot of money. The only financially sound choice
was to evict the tenant. The next person to come in play is Lamar. Lamar is a 51 year old black
Vietnam veteran who lives under the same landlordas Arleen. He has prosthetics on both legs and

Use Of Ethos In Any Given Sunday
Using Rhetoric on Any Given Sunday One of the most inspirational speeches from the movie
Any Given Sunday, directed by Oliver Stone, occurs during a football team s pre game warm up.
In the movie, there is a fictional professional football team who is struggling to bring home any
wins for their home town. The speech is delivered by the head coach who is played by Al Pacino.
At the end of his speech, the team s coach has proven how effective the use of ethos, pathos, and
logos can be.
The method in which the coach uses to deliver his message really came from the heart. He uses
ethos, pathos, and logos to persuade the football team that they have the ability to win the game.
The coach s speech begins with ethos by creating a strategy for the ... Show more content on

This ultimatum could be included in all three methods of persuasion, ethos, logos, and pathos.
Ethos is a miniscule role in this particular phrase. The team s coach has been in their shoes in the
past and knows what they have to face, ergo his credibility. The logos plays into the ultimate
decision: whether or not to admit defeat. In the quote Inch by inch, play by play. Until we re
finished, (Pacino, Any Given Sunday) we see a coach telling his team what they must do in
order to be successful. Lastly, pathos is the largest player of the game. The men on this football
team, including their coach, all are very passionate about the game they play. It is an emotional
experience for them all because of how much they care for football and for each other. The mere
thought of the season being over because of a loss is not the way these men want their season to
end, and they are going to fight for it, We claw with our fingernails for that inch. Because we know
when add up all those inches, that s gonna make the fucking difference between winning and
losing! (Pacino, Any Given Sunday). Finally, this quote shows the amount of emotion that the
speakers put into some of his last few words to his team. That quote is similar to the final punch in
a boxing match; this quote is what got the football team riled up the

Morality In Sir Gawain And The Green Knight
Sir Gawain and The Green Knight is a piece of literature that was written in the time of the middle
ages during the Fourteenth century. Like many works written during the middle ages, the definitive
author of sir Gawain and the green knight. Although the author of this piece is unknown, it can be
derived from the text that he had a geographical understanding of the northwest midlands between
Cheshire and Staffordshire, and that he was also highly sophisticated and well acquainted with the
culture of the middle ages (183) . Although this poem does deal with the subject of romance, it can
primarily be considered as a morality play due to the moral tests that Sir Gawainwas put through by

Gawain s visit just as he did the first. Only on this day instead of deer, the king wrestled a boar to
the ground and ends his life with the stab of his sword. That evening the king returns and gives
Sir Gawain the boar s head in exchange for two kisses. On the third day, the queen again visits

The queen then offers him a green girdle, which she claims has the ability to shield the wearer

takes the girdle. That day the king hunts a sneaky fox. That evening the king and Sir Gawain

How The Quantity Of Carbohydrate Could Determine The...
The quantity of carbohydrate could determine the overall scale of process. Increase in the process
scale could enhance total production, but it would also increase the cost of facility and operation.
High concentration of carbohydrate does not promise high production of CPC in the fermentation
step. A. chrysogenum is proper for the CPC production, but A. chrysogenum grows slowly in
comparison to other microorganisms. The fermentation time could be reduced by fermentation
engineering. The process of conversion to 7 ACA from CPC is also important to increase the
productivity of 7 ACA. The economics of P ACA process for 7 ACA from waste carbohydrate
showed the possibility of industrialization. Then, various factors of the process, governing the
efficiency of process, were investigated to maximize the economics.
3.2. Factorial design of process and evaluation of economics
Full factorial analysis was performed to investigate the major factors concerned with the
economics. The major key factors were listed, and the values of factors were coded. The center
points of coded values were set as follows: feedstock (carbohydrates) quantity, 2,407.0 kg per
batch; carbohydrates, 16.0% (w/v); CPC yield 12.7%; fermentation time, 120 h; and 7 ACA yield,
87.0%. The maximum fermentation vessel volume was designed to be 35,000 L, accommodating
all the values of variance for factorial experimental factors. The FFD of five factors for three levels
was designed and is equal to 243 (= 35)

Los Rancho Los Cerritos House
On Friday I had the honor to visit the historical Rancho Los Cerritos House; also known as
Rancho Los Cerritos or Casa de los Cerritos, in Long Beach, California, it was the largest and
most impressive adobe residence raised in southern California during the Mexican period. The
structure of the house was built in 1844 by merchant Jonathan Temple, a Yankee pioneer who
became a Mexican citizen. Los Cerritos means the little hills in English. It was declared a
National Historic Landmark in 1970. I wasn t lucky enough to visit this phenomenal and historical
place until I took advantage of my history assignment and I decided to visit Rancho Los Cerritos

In 1929, Llewellyn Bixby (Jotham s nephew) bought the property, and made broad redesigns to the
house, including mortar bond covering, another red tiled rooftop, power, plumbing, chimneys, a
sun patio, new floors and a significant part of the landscaping. Llewellyn Bixby passed on in 1942,
and the family sold the house to the City of Long Beach in 1955. The City transformed the house
into an exhibition hall devoted to teaching the general population about California s rancho period,
so that the public can get the chance of exploring this phenomenal and historical site.
After watching the 15 minute video we moved outside of the building and we signed up to visit
the house. During this 5 minutes wait I saw Jean Bixby wedding dress, which she donated; it
was a very beautiful and unique wedding dress, it grabbed my attention, and I kept looking at it
figuring its style. Then we went to see the house. We entered from a big door where there was a

which there where two servants that do the laundry once a week, it takes two full days; one day
they do the laundry and then the next full day they do the ironing. A thing that was really very

The Citizen On The Rainy River Essay
EleXis Palmer

Ap Lang and Comp 5
Thesis Essay
What is the relationship between the citizen and the state? We are not citizens but subjects, being
subjected to the ruling of one power. We claim that we despise the government and that the
government is out to get us, but if you think of what our society would be without a government we
would be in total chaos. Sometimes we try to free ourselves from the state, and run, just as Tim O
Brien did in On the Rainy River. O Brien didn t want to be drafted out to a war in which he didn
t believe in, so instead he dropped his life and ran away; just ran away from facing the
government. My conscience told me to run, but some irrational and powerful force was ... Show

much power as we give to ourselves. The government wouldn t house nearly as much power as it
does if we didn t give it such authority. We, as citizens are responsible for the power the
government is capable of. The state relies on this allegiance by the citizen. It s just like the reliance
between the press and the government. The press too is made up solely of citizens. The press
influences what the public thinks about that government by the stories and editorials that they
publish, and the government influences what the press publishes by giving out press releases. They
depend on each other in a complex manner. The state has control over citizens but no real
connection with these citizens. The majority rule cannot determine justice. Thoreau had said in On
the Duty of Civil Disobedience , I think that we should be men first, and subjects afterwards.

Workplace Harassment
An Analysis of Workplace Harassment and Bullying in Today s Society
Introduction
Workplace harassment and bullying occurs when an employee subjects another employee to
degrading behaviour, whether verbal abuse and threats or actual physical violence. It is an
inappropriate expression of power that affects workers and their productivity in an unfavourable
way (Spry, 1998). Management, and other types of employees, who occupy high status roles
sometimes believe that harassing their subordinates is within their rights and make demands of the
lower status employees (Langton, Robbins, Judge, 2010, p. 313).
Harassment is often a result of stress, power, differences of opinion, undefined expectations of
management, absent policies, and tasks ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(Johns amp; Saks, 2008, p. 135)
It has typically been thought of as a type of harassment that only women experience in the
workplace; however, men can be victims of sexual harassment as well. Sexual harassment demeans
its victims, whether female or male.
A victim of sexual harassment can be anyone within an organization, although some individuals
are more prone to victimization. For example, women within an organization who are highly
educated, young, and seeking to move up within the ranks of the organization can be perceived
by men as a threat and so are targeted (Mueller, De Coster, amp; Estes, 2001). The corporate
culture in which individuals work can also influence who becomes a victim of sexual harassment.
Women who work in male dominated occupations or work groups are more likely to be harassed
than women who work in female dominated or gender integrated occupations or work groups
(Mueller et al., 2001). Corporate cultures that are more open about sexual matters may become too
lenient regarding this topic which can potentially lead to increased sexual harassment cases. It has

Nature s laws represent that, in the ghetto, you re not expected to make it out and make
something good of yourself. It s the law. When Shakur says he learned to walk without feet, it
symbolizes how he is self made, and got through the struggle on his own. While he doesn t
specifically mention it, I attribute him being able to make it out of the ghetto to his education,
as he was more privileged than most of the kids in his surroundings. Growing up, Shakur
attended the Baltimore School for the Arts, where he studied poetry, music, and acting. I believe
this gave him the skills to rise above his surroundings, because his art skills gave him a way to
express himself, which lead to his success. Next, Shakur says, Funny it seems, but by keeping its
dreams, it learned to breathe fresh air (5 6) The dream or goal of a rose is to live, as with any
plant. Also, the dreams mentioned here could serve as a double entendre. Shakur, as the rose, could
be stating that he just wants to live, as thats the goal of many urban youth enduring the hardships of
living in the projects. Fresh air in this context could be a new

of ecosystems and surrounding villages to perish overtime. The following will analysis the
perspectives of three major stake holders, the Australian government, PTT Exploration and

good is of relevance to this issue. The principle off the common good is littered throughout
history. One prominent description of the common good is the social conditions that permit
people to be able to reach their full potential as well as realizing their human dignity (William J.
Byron, 1998). Another describes the common good as the moral formula for the greatest good
for all (Kelly Jones, 1996). Pope Paul VI described the common good slightly differently as
where every social group must take account of the needs and appropriate aspirations of other
groups, and even of the over all welfare of the entire human family (Pope Paul VI, 1965). The
issue of the Montara oil spill is of great relevance to the common good because various
stakeholders were involved and negatively affected. To reach a solution that results in the greatest

911 Dispatching Research Paper
Emergency telecommunications otherwise known as 911 dispatching is a fast paced and exciting
work environment. During a twelve hour shift, the dispatchers never know what is going to occur,
nor do they know when it is going to occur. Hours of boredom can be followed by minutes of
sheer panic and terror. They deal with everything from domestic violence to medical calls, traffic
stops to house fires. A 911 dispatcher doubles as a communications liaison for police officers,
deputies, medical personnel, and fire fighters. Emergency telecommunications often known as

will allow fire fighters to respond with the appropriate personnel and apparatus. When seconds

  • 3. Comparing Christian Beliefs In Islam And Christianity Muslims and Christians share the belief that both God and Jesus exist or have existed. Although the two religions accept this, their view points are quite different. Muslims believe that Jesus was a prophet, while Christians believe Jesus was not only the son of God, but also the messiah. Both religions believe in the same God, but Christians believe that God is part of the holy trinity. Muslims do not accept this as part of their faith. Despite how similar these two religions are, Muslims and Christians continue to argue about their beliefs. Christians believe that Jesuswas the son of God, given birth from the virgin Mary, and was sent to save us from our sins. Part of the Christian faith is after Jesus spread his message and performed various miracles, he was crucified, died, and then was resurrected three days later. This belief creates the Christian religion in a sense, because without Jesus resurrecting with fulfillment of the scriptures, he could not come back to his disciples and more thoroughly prove that he is the son of God. Christians see God and Jesus as being part of the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Muslims believe God as being one almighty power, who does not share his divinity. This directly goes against the Christian belief of God being part of the holy trinity, where God shares his divinity with Jesus and the Holy Spirit. Jesus plays an important role in both religions. In Islam, Jesus is a crucial prophet who performs miracles and delivers God s message, while Christians believe Jesus was the messiah. As the messiah, Christians believe Jesus freed them of their sins by dying on the cross. Muslims disregard this completely, and instead believe that Jesus never actually died and that Muhammad was the prophet to end all prophets. • 8. Where Men Win Glory, by Jon Krakauer Where Men Win Glory is an ironic euphemism for war. The title is ironic because there is nothing glorious about war or the way it ended Pat Tillman s beautiful life. Jon Krakauer orchestrates this masterpiece with his diligently, articulated descriptions and with a timeline sewn together from the threads of two worlds. The author s style can best be characterized by his challenging, precise diction and his ability to fluently intervene pertinent quotes and facts that further persuade the reader toward his cause. Throughout the book, the author s tone harnesses resentment towards the militant hierarchy; for through its ingenuousness, deceit, and manipulation, the military uses Pat s death as propaganda to bolster the war s support.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Where Men Win Glory epitomizes the ideal environment for a family to thrive and advance. As a child, Pat and his brother were left to their own devices when playing in their expansive backyard. With few TV channels and an infinitesimal media presence, Pat and Kevin experienced a nurturing home that instilled positive virtues and allowed them to grow as human beings from an early age. This enabled them to be who they were mature, sophisticated, and virtuous human beings. Even with that being said, sometimes one must undergo a momentous change to hasten the learning curve Pat was no exception. Change is a hackneyed clichГ© for what can truly be a life altering metamorphosis into something special. Perhaps the greatest contributor to a great man, change solidified Pat s resolve, aided him in reevaluating his priorities, and humbled his reckless demeanor. This was completed in a month s work a month Pat spent in a juvenile detention center. When he finally emerged from the bleak confines of seclusion with people much worse than him, he realized who he was and that this was not him. If such an experience would affect more people in this manner, crime and terrible people would be a thing of the past; however, the world is not a perfect place which makes people like Pat even more respectable. For, beneath the polite faГ§ade of so many, few are half the man Pat Tillmanwas. He stood for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

During the time of Solomon the people of Israel lacked obedience. God as king was no longer good enough. Israel s lack of obedience caused them to anoint a king that also lacked faith in the Lord. Man is broken and even great leaders have flaws. Israel s demand for a king ultimately resulted in the division of the kingdom. During the time of Samuel, the people of Israel desire a king. God had promised to provide for the Israelites and in return God asked for obedience and love. Throughout the Old Testament God always provided for the Israelites yet God s people regularly rejected him. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although Saul met all qualifications of what the ideal king should resemble, he lacked the most important trait, obedience to God. Saul was identical to the rest of the people of Israel and wanted to reign his way. Saul s disobedience caused his fall, For example, his usurpation of priestly functions while awaiting Samuel to offer the sacrifices at Gilgal before the battle with the Philistines caused God to vow that he would remove the kingdom from Saul (Hindson 165). God rejected Saul as king because of his blatant disobedience of God s commands, and God chose David as the forthcoming king. Saul was the ideal king the Israelites desired. David was the king Israel needed. David was not tall or handsome but he was a man of God. When David defeated Goliath, not only did he fully trust God, David gave all the glory of his victory to God. David possessed the vital attribute that Saul never had, obedience to God. David trusted in God s timing and plan. Despite David having the opportunity to kill Saul and reign over Israel , David continued to follow God s commands. In 1 Samuel 24:19 20 Saul said to David after spearing his life, When a man finds his enemy, does he let him get away unharmed? May the Lord reward you well for the way you treated me today. Taking a firm stand on either side of this topic is usually side stepped by decision makers. Their opinions are usually based on a case by case analysis. This extremely controversial topic involves whether or not to support the policy of foreign aid to needy or sometimes not so needy countries. What benefits does foreign aid have for the countries that receive it, and does it have any benefits for the countries who give? Another form of foreign aid is a certain amount of credit is given to the receiving country in order to buy American made goods only. This form of aid not only helps the country in need, but it also pumps money into the US economy. Still some may wonder why should we care about a country such as Russia, to whom the U.S. has recently given aid to recently. The U.S. can t afford to have an ex superpower unstable economically because of their nuclear capabilities. Because Russia is in the unstable beginnings of a democracy the U.S. wants to keep Russia on the right track. If that includes giving them aid in order to help feed their people, then that is what the U.S must do. Because reinstatement of the old regime would result in turmoil throughout the world. After communism was overthrown in the former Soviet Union the world went through big changes. There was no longer two world super powers, and all of a sudden a 40 year cold war ended. • 11. Ottoman Domes The dome is considered one of the most important architectural elements in Islamic culture and the dome became a very important architectural element during the Ottoman time period and many of these domes drew from earlier Islamic and the Hellenistic Roman world. The dome is one of the most important elements of the Ottoman time period and they were known for being one of the main cultures in history to incorporate domes as a main component in their architecture. Ottomans used domes in mosques (the largest domes were reserved for mosques), madrasas, and tГјrbes. Monumental domes began to appear in the 14th century in the Ottoman capital Bursa, in the 15th century in Edirne and after the conquest of Constantinople in Istanbul. This paper will address the domes built under the Ottomans from the late 1300s to the 1600s. However, it is important to note that early Ottoman architecture was heavily influenced by both Seljuks and the Byzantines their immediate predecessors. The dome itself, as built by the Ottomans are almost all hemispherical in shape. Theresa Grupico explains that Domes and tent canopies were associated with the heavens in Ancient Persia and the Hellenistic Roman world. A dome over a square base reflected the geometric symbolism of those shapes. The circle represented perfection, eternity, and the heavens. The square represented the Earth. • 12. Using Signing Statements Ramification of Using Signing Statements According to Strauss (2006), the presidential signing statements have come out of obscurity and into the headlines. Along with salutary attention to an interesting issue, the new public visibility of signing statements have generated much overblown commentary. The desire to make these little known documents interesting to the public and to score points in the inevitable political battles over any practice engaged in by a sitting President has produced a lot of discussion that misleads the public. Signing statements constitute a striking official power that has recently caught insightful and political consideration. Earlier writing recommends that presidents utilization signing statements to increase extra strategy concessions from Congress. Confirmation of approach inspirations are, nonetheless, hard to exhibit and arrangement thought processes neglect to clarify a wide range of existing statements. • 14. The Rhetorical Analysis Of The Blackbird The song, Blackbird, was written by the iconic British boy band The Beatles in 1968. During this time period, the civil rights movement was on the rise and people had very conflicted views about racism and how they should cope with it. Innocent lives were lost and people were struggling both physically and emotionally. Blackbirds lyrics and melody gives you a taste of that struggle and pain those individuals went through in their lives. The song is expressing about having perseverance and faith in the midst of trials that come your way. Therefore, the song starts itself off with a calm melody and the following lyrics, Blackbird singing in the dead of night. With these lyrics, the listener can easily be thinking of a bird literally singing in the night. However, when further explored in the context, there is actually more meaning to these lyrics that set the mood for the rest of the song. For example, this particular line is actually referring to the loneliness a person is going through in their life. Since the person is all alone in the night, singing to themselves, it is clear they are lonely and have nobody to be around with. When The Beatles singer, Paul McCartney, sang this song he also put a lot of emphasis on the word night. Which is why, when further explored in the lyrics, it could represent the constant darkness the person is going through when they are trying to live their life, but cannot escape because they have no one to help them along in their journey. ... Essay on How Social Tensions Led To Wit The history of witchcraft during seventeenth century New England is inherently a history of direct confrontations within communities where relationships become tainted with suspicion, revenge and anger. The documents in Witch Hunting in Seventeenth Century New England have retold the events and stories of Puritan New England to give the modern reader an understanding of the repressive social institutions of religion and family structurewhich were controlling factors that lay behind the particular cases discussed in the book. However, in order to really interpret the structure of witchcraft, it is important to consider that social tensions(most likely a dispute or argument) combined with personal or familial bad luck, were the root of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A situation that demonstrates this is the case of Blanche Bedortha and her painful fits. Blanche blamed her ailments on Hugh based on an argument between him and Rice Bedortha, her husband. When having her fits, Blanche distinctly recalled the dispute and at once suspected that Hugh had used witchcraft on her (Hall 36). This demonstrates that Hugh was considered troublesome, and to accuse him of witchcraft would be the perfect punishment or reprisal. Actions of a person can also cause social tension among the town. The way a person behaves, acts, and responds can differentiate from the ordinary to the weird. In Puritan society, anything out of the normal is very suspicious, especially when someone does not react to a situation they way society would. Many people were accused of witchcraft because they behaved abnormally to a death of a family member or a neighbor. When Moxon s child died, Hugh did not have any emotions or sympathy. This attitude combined with the past argument that they had, Moxon immediately accused Hugh of witchcraft. Again, this case happened again when his wife Mary accused him of witchcraft. This was due to the fact that Hugh once more had no emotions when his kids died. When accusations were released, the accused would in no way regain their social standing ever again, even if they were found innocent after a trial. Magnified suspicions and distrust increased the social tension between the accused ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As a whole, we depend on this phone in the same aspect as we did a baby blanket in our childhood. Major mental health issues, such as lack of social skills, memory problems, and stress are due to this technology. These are some of the biggest concerns when it comes to owning a phone, unfortunately, the effects are not fully realized. These devices have brought several problems in user s lives, despite supposedly making it easier. Everyday human social interactions are suffering due to the part smartphonesplay. Furthermore, being connected through this technology is something that is bragged upon, but users are not as connected as they would like to think. Unfortunately this constant communication gives a false sense of connection, because when they are faceto face there is little interaction. Board of Education was a case that was initiated by members of the local NAACP (National association Advancement of Colored People) organization in Topeka, Kansas where thirteen parents volunteered to participate of the segregation during school. Parents took their children to schools in their neighborhoods in the summer of 1950 and attempted to enroll them for the upcoming school year. All students were refused admission and were forced to attend one of the four schools in the city for African Americans. For most parents and students, this involved traveling some distance from their homes. These parents filed suit against the Topeka Board of Education on behalf of their twenty children. Oliver Brown who was a minister, was the first parent to suit against the problem, so the case came to be named after his last name. Three local lawyers, Charles Bledsoe, Charles Scott and John Scott, were assisted by Robert Carter and Jack Greenberg from the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund. Oliver Brown had declared that Topeka s racial segregation violated the Constitution s Equal Protection Clause because the city s black and white schools were not equal to each other and never could be due to the way things were. The federal district court dismissed his claim, ruling that the segregated public schools were substantially equal enough to be constitutional under the Plessy case doctrine. The importance of this relation is presented and clarified. I then discuss the implications of Heidegger s view for teaching poetry. • 38. Theme Of Eyes In Nawal El Saadawi It is said that the eyes are the gateway to the soul. This holds true in a myrid of places, from a poker table, to a relationship to our eye movements while we sleep. Books and other artistic enterprises are no exception to this. Perhaps this is because of eyes inherent attraction to us. regardless, In Nawal El Saadawis woman at point zero, eyes are used by the author to illustrate and emphasize ferdos relationships with others. Using the avenue of eyes, Firdaus makes connections with many other people in the book. One of the few characters in the novelthat was depicted positively by Firdaus was her former teacher, Miss Iqbal. Ferdaus s affection is transmitted and expressed by the author in the description of Miss Iqbal s eyes, two rings of pure white, surrounding two circles of intense black...the white seemed to turn even whiter, and the black even blacker, as though light flowed through them from some unknown magical source, (El Saadawi 29). Words such as pure and intense powerfully express the respect and love she has for her kind teacher, rather than the oppression that she faced from the violence and brutality of the other characters in the novel. This quote appears again on page 87 when Firdaus is describing Ibrahim, the only other character in the novel that she ever fell in love with, who also disillusions her and takes advantage of her. Firdaus intensely misjudged Ibrahim, proving that eyes can be deceiving. Firdaus relies on the eyes to determine who ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 40. Dr. Hart As A Guest The podcast I chose to write about was the one with Dr. Carl Hart as a guest. I chose this podcast because it was the one that I found most relevant and interesting. Dr. Hart is a professor of psychology and psychiatry at Columbia University. His field of interest is that of drug abuse and addiction, he recently wrote a book about these topics titled High Price . Dr. Hart has a very interesting point of view when it comes to drugs in society, for example one of his beliefs is that all drugs should be decriminalized in America, another one of his controversial opinions is that drug users can be fully functioning members of society as opposed to how they are regularly viewed. Dr. Hart s research and opinion are very valuable in the nation s current debate on drugs; this is not only due to the fact that he represents a very prestigious university, but also because of his more than 20 years of experience in the matter. As aforementioned, one of Dr. Hart s views is that all drugs should be decriminalized in our country. He explains in the podcast the difference between decriminalization and legalization. In a coun try where drugs are decriminalized, drug possessors may be fined; adversely in a country where all drugs are legal, their use for recreational purposes carries no legal penalty. I do not completely agree with his views on this matter, I believe that drugs such as cocaine, heroin, meth amphetamines, and similar hard core drugs are too dangerous to not have their ... • 41. The Conflict Between The Middle East Region Modern political discourse in the United States, particularly in the realm of foreign policy (whether it occurs in the academic community, political institutions, or in the press), has increasingly become more focused on the Middle East region. The United States continues view the Middle East as an area of instability in which the country s economic interests, particularly oil, are often threatened and at risk. The on going Israeli Palestinian conflict, which has lasted over sixty years, is a prime opportunity for the United States to take initiative in both protecting its interests in the Middle East region as well as forming stronger alliances with Arab states through the process of cooperation via negotiation. Careful analysis of the history and strategies utilized in the ongoing conflict between the Israelis and the Palestinians reveals that Israels policy of deterrence and military dominance over Palestinians is in fact oppressive and unjust at times (and that Palestinian resentment is a rational response). The United States decision to continually support Israel with substantial aid (backed by public opinion and taxpayers) severely damages the United States reputation with Arab countries in the region; limiting the United States effectiveness in foreign policy in the region as a whole. In order to protect United States interests, bring more stability to the area, and encourage more cooperation between Arab states and the United States in the Middle East, the ... As winter was setting in, Arleen found an available room in Sherrena s building. Landlords have their own share of troubles and the previous tenant had called a building inspector, which would have costed Sherrena a lot of money. In the movie, there is a fictional professional football team who is struggling to bring home any wins for their home town. The speech is delivered by the head coach who is played by Al Pacino. At the end of his speech, the team s coach has proven how effective the use of ethos, pathos, and logos can be. The method in which the coach uses to deliver his message really came from the heart. In the quote Inch by inch, play by play. Until we re finished, (Pacino, Any Given Sunday) we see a coach telling his team what they must do in order to be successful. Lastly, pathos is the largest player of the game. The men on this football team, including their coach, all are very passionate about the game they play. It is an emotional experience for them all because of how much they care for football and for each other. The mere thought of the season being over because of a loss is not the way these men want their season to end, and they are going to fight for it, We claw with our fingernails for that inch. Increase in the process scale could enhance total production, but it would also increase the cost of facility and operation. High concentration of carbohydrate does not promise high production of CPC in the fermentation step. A. chrysogenum is proper for the CPC production, but A. chrysogenum grows slowly in comparison to other microorganisms. The fermentation time could be reduced by fermentation engineering. The process of conversion to 7 ACA from CPC is also important to increase the productivity of 7 ACA. The economics of P ACA process for 7 ACA from waste carbohydrate showed the possibility of industrialization. Then, various factors of the process, governing the efficiency of process, were investigated to maximize the economics. 3.2. Factorial design of process and evaluation of economics Full factorial analysis was performed to investigate the major factors concerned with the economics. The major key factors were listed, and the values of factors were coded. The center points of coded values were set as follows: feedstock (carbohydrates) quantity, 2,407.0 kg per batch; carbohydrates, 16.0% (w/v); CPC yield 12.7%; fermentation time, 120 h; and 7 ACA yield, 87.0%.
