First, when paper isn t recycled, 80% of it is placed in landfills. Decomposition of
the paper in landfills produces methane, a greenhouse gas with twenty one times
the power of carbon dioxide. U.S. EPA has identified landfills as the largest

prepackaged food, and has limited them to purchase only food staples. These food
staples included foods such as rice, bread, fruits, etc. While the desired new rules
for SNAP are similar to the current rules of WIC, the bill will also attempt to allow
members of WIC to purchase white potatoes in addition to their food staples. Multiple
commodities economic standing will experience larger impacts on supply and demand
from this proposed bill s changes and implications. As SNAP shifts to strictly
staple foods, the economic impacts will implement changes on the supply and
demand of rice. In the short run the price of rice will rise and the demand curve of
rice will shift outward. This effect will take place because of SNAP s proposed
limitations. If the members of SNAP are limited to only food staples they will find
themselves demanding more rice than before. This shift will cause an upward

Oppression is perpetuated in our society through supremacy and discrimination.
Women of color have been subjected to the justifications of unfair treatment from
their oppressors both male and female for generations and are expected to identify
with misconceived definitions that have been externally attributed to their own

of the cycle of this socioeconomic imprisonment to maintain their standing within

will and thrive under circumstances of her own creation. However, Rodrick takes on
an underlying tone of critical commentary whereas Rankine uses one of comradery
and empowerment. Throughout his writing, Rodrick makes Williams out to be
someone who has completely bought into materialism and has a knack for self
indulging gluttony. Zeroing in on irrelevant comments about her lifestyle (such as her
excitement to get her nails done and her unenthusiastic response to being reminded
about morning practice) Rodrick writes, No athlete alive dominates a sport like
Serena Williams does tennis. But on the whole, she d rather be eating a cinnamon roll

well versed) Jay Heinrichs. Although the title is indeed a mouthful, it serves its
purpose in drawing the reader in. Also; the extremely long title is a little hint of what
Heinrichs entails in his book, an endless supply of information on how to correctly
and influentially utilize rhetoric, the art of persuasion.

hard to write. I beg your patience and hope you read through to the end. What I
would like to convey to you is my recent shift in world view. That is to say that I

Rather, I identify as an atheist as a way to convey that I seem to have lost Faith
that there is a God. Over the last year I have studied and ponder in depth to
discover as best I could truth. Before I get there I want to be clear as to the
perspective in which I am coming from.
I was raised in a very active and loving family of the LDS Church. My family is
still very active, my father and my mother have served in leadership roles. They
are both full of faith and charity and am grateful for their love and support
throughout my life. I, myself have served in leadership roles in the church both as a
young man and as a missionary for the church. I served a 2 year mission in west
Texas spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ as I understood it. I was married in an LDS
temple to my wonderful wife. My in laws are also very devout members of the LDS
church.

Rx For Survival
The second installment of the video series Rx for Survival, concerned itself with
implications pertaining to bacteria that have become antibiotic resistant and was
titled Rise of the Superbugs. The video presented the cases of individuals who were
afflicted with maladies resulting from bacterial infections that were not being
impeded by the normative pharmaceutical care that we have used for many decades
and take for granted.

following through on their full course of antibiotic therapy as they begin to feel

Further, it was relayed that multiple drug resistant tuberculosis is being seen in
impoverished areas, which are prime disease transmission vectors owing to people
living in close proximity, and this is complicated by the ease at which the bacteria
pass through the air (Rx for Survival, 2005). With this in mind, I think that our lives
would be significantly altered if most disease causing bacteria developed resistance to
drug treatments. It seems highly likely that initially, there would be a significant
mortality in the world s human populous due to our proximal living conditions and
travel proclivities. Aside from this, humanity would be forced to regard every
individual as a potential untreatable disease carrier, which by necessity, would
preclude unprotected contact with people whose health status is unknown.
This video provided a stark look at a serious problem that faces us on the disease
front, and it also lent a glimpse into a real possibility that looms over mankind:
being thrust back to the time when we were powerless to stop bacterial infections.
Scientific research may be our best hope to find new antibiotics capable of warding
off pathogenic bacteria for a number of decades, until once again, they become
resistant. Or perhaps, as in the case presented in the video of Fleming s initial
