2. Heritage Minutes By Terry Fox Essay
The one minute heritage video titled Heritage Minutes: Terry Fox goes on to talk
about Fox s journey through Canada with an amputated leg while raising money for
cancer research. The video shows not only Fox but many people supporting his
journey which not only included Canadians watching his marathon but also family
members who came along during the journey and assisting with keeping track of
funds, his length and also his health. It is evident that this had taken place in Canada
as there were many Canadian symbols throughout the film and was also mentioned.
However, it is hard to tell the exact location as to where everything took place. We
can notice the various weather conditions that were seen throughout the film which
ranged from rainy to sunny days. We can also note that the video had been filmed
during many times of the day. In the beginning, we see Fox running on an empty
road before sunrise and then we progress into a busier time period... Show more

Important parts to Fox story such as when he says I take one mile at a time, 26
miles a day It is possible to go through Fox s history, which there is not a ton of
information on in the video, in more details and how he came up to the moment in
his life where he would take one mile at a time, 26 miles a day. Information such as
his background and what his life was like before being diagnosed was a key
feature that was definitely left out. Although the film does mention how cancer
happens to people all the time and how Fox wasn t special, the video could have
mentioned how he considered himself as not special by saying that he was a man
who loved playing basketball and played for Simon Fraser University. 2 We also
are not told about how in 1970, he penned a letter to the Canadian Cancer Society
telling them how he believed in miracles and that he had intended to run across
Canada. This led to Fox being able to receive many partnerships
3. Secondary Hypertension
Hypertension is a common condition where the long term force of blood against
your artery walls is high enough it may cause health problems, like heart disease
(Mayoclinic, 2015). It is also known as high blood pressure. Your blood pressure is
the amount of blood your heart pumps and the amount of resistance to bloodflow in
your arteries. The more blood your heartpumps it will narrower your arteries making
your blood pressure higher (Mayoclinic, 2015). High blood pressure generally
develops over many years. It will nearly effect everyone eventually (Mayoclinic,
2015). You can work with your doctor to control it once you know you have
hypertension. You can have high blood pressure for years and not have any
symptoms. Without symptoms damage... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
High blood pressure is common in adults, but children are also at risk. Most
children have high blood pressure that is caused by a problem with the kidneys or
heart. Some times for kids with high blood pressure it could also be from an
unhealthy diet, lack of exercise (Mayoclinic, 2015). High blood pressure will cause
damage to organs and blood vessels. You are at a risk for a heart attack or stroke
since the hardening and thickening of the
4. Cultural Plunge
Cultural Plunge at an Asian Market
As I contemplated on what my cultural plunge was going to be, it made me realize
that I am lucky to say that I have been exposed and acquainted with maybe more
than the usual. My ex husband is Middle Eastern, I am Mexican, and I have homo
sexual friends, and have and had friends that are African American, Caucasian,
Japanese, Filipino, Jewish, and Korean. I finally chose to explore more of the Asian
culture because although I have friends that are Asian I liked to know more about
their culture. Being that I love to cook, I decided to go to an Asian market. As I
searched the internet for suggestions on where to go, I found 99 Ranch Market to have
the highest ratings. 99 Ranch Market is an Asian ... Show more content on

Although not sold in its original form at our common grocery stores, we normally see
the flavor being used in teas and smoothies. Then there was the mangosteen. It is
another purple fruit. It is creamy and citrusy with a hint of peach. Second to last is
the Lychee. This is a common Asian fruit that is small and white in the inside and
has a grape like texture when eaten. Lastly was the Durian, sadly the worst one of
them. It has hard spiky husk that needed to be cracked opened. I was warned about
this one but didn t think it was going to be as bad as it was. It smelled like skunk
spray/ sewage. I tried to taste it but didn t. We immediately threw it away. The smell
was horrible. A lady who I spoke to at the store prior to buying the fruit just told me
that it was an acquired taste and smell, but I didn t expect what we experienced.
Nonetheless, I enjoyed going through and tasting each fruit. It definitely was an
experience and an eye opener to the different types of fruit out there besides your
usual bananas, strawberries, and oranges.
Ultimately I have to say that I enjoyed this overall experience. It has opened up my
eyes to many different cultures and definitely different way of eating. Since my
visit, I have bought and Asian inspired cook book and plan to make a few dishes
with ingredients that are only found at Asian markets. Oh and next time I decided to
go; I ll make sure not to take my big
5. Dividend Theory And Growth Model
Dividend is that part of earning which is distributed among the shareholders. The
decisions about when and how much earnings should be paid as dividends is part of
the firm s dividend policy. It is irrefutable that dividend policy is controversial issue
as some people opine that dividends are relevant for the valuation of company and
others think that dividenddoes not effect the market price of shares and valuation of
firm. Besides this, the market where long term investment like share bonds are
traded is capital market. In the following paragraphs, i will put my emphasis on both
issues the dividend relevance theory along with roles and importance of capital
market.
Dividend relevance theory and Growth model
Overview of dividend policy
The term dividends indicates to the distribution of earnings to shareholders,
primarily in the form of cash and after a company has distributed dividends to
preferred shareholders, the firm may keep the net earnings as retained earnings to
fund investment projects or distribute residual net earnings to common shareholders
or pay a part as dividends and keep the remainder for investment purposes. The
dividend payout ratio is the proportion of earnings that is available to common
shareholders that the firm pays out in the form of dividends. The up comings factors
are important to the decision of what proportion of a firm s earnings should be
retained and what proportion it should return to its shareholders.

violent government assaults on strikers, Russia entered WWI in August, 1914. with
the world s largest army. Poorly trained and equipped, they quickly went from early
success to catastrophic defeat. The disastrous fortunes of the Russian army
undermined the authority of the government. There were conscription (draft) riots in
the cities. There were food shortages. Russialost territory. People who did not

The Bolsheviks agreed to help but made it clear they were fighting against
Kornilov s troops and not in support of the government. In just a few days, they
raised an armed militia of 25,000 and fortified the city. Kornilov s soldiers refused
to try to take Petrograd by force. Kornilov was arrested, his general commited
suicide, and Kerensky had a new problem on his hands.
The Bolsheviks now had control of the Soviets and the Red Guard, control of
Petrograd, and a small but well organized and armed militia. The Mensheviks had
allied themselves with Kerensky, Kerensky had tried to broker a deal with the
landowners, and had sent the Cossacks out to subdue the revolutionaries in the
countryside. None of this was well received by the workers. At the urging of Trotsky,
the Red Guards stormed the Winter Palace, Kerensky ran to France, and the
Bolsheviks were now in control.
But wasn t Trotsky on the side of the Mensheviks?
He had been, but he was one of many who were greatly angered by the Mensheviks
support of Kerensky. He was by now a pacifist as far as the war was concerned, a
believer in permanent revolution, and totally opposed to Kerensky s alliances with
the propertied classes. So he joined with the Bolsheviks when he returned to Russia
from his long and turbulent exile abroad. He was instrumental in
7. Essay on censorship
Censorship is the act of suppressing publications, movies, television programs, plays,
letters, and so on that are considered to be obscene, blasphemous, or politically
unacceptable (MccGwire 4). Censorship should be enforced because it is needed
into today s society. Censorship needs to be used in media, hate speech, and obscene
material.
To begin with, the media has very negative effect on society as a whole. The mass
media movies, television, and recordings need to be regulated, and not only because
of appeals to irresponsible lust (Lowenthal 19). They have immersed us in violence as
well, habituated us to the most extreme brutality, held it up as a model and
surrounded us by images of hateful human ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

It corrupts taste and poisons the imagination (Kimball 20). Violent video games,
movies, and music lyrics influence people to retaliate against those people that hurt
them. In the past few years there have been a great number of school shootings. Many
of these shootings were copied off of famous movie scenes and video games. These
obscene aspects of the media need to be banned from children. Children are still
learning the difference between rights and wrong, therefore adults need to take on
this responsibility of censoring what children watch, read, play with, and listen to.
Hate speech should also be banned. Free speech has a class line. It also has a class
responsibility. One person s beliefs cannot cross the line into threats of violence. Free
speech does not cover that (Albano 31). Those institutions most concerned with social
fairness have proven to be the ones most likely to promulgate anti hate speech rules
(Albano 30). Part of the reason seems to be recognition that hate speech can easily
silence and demoralize its victims, discouraging them from participating in the life of
the institution (Albano 30). If so, enacting hate speech rules may be evidence of a
commitment to democratic dialogue, rather than the opposite, as some their
opponents maintain (Albano 30). People should not have to put up with harassment
by others. People should not have to constantly live in the state of fear because others
are threatening them;

9. Deism In The 17th Century
Deism is a belief based solely on reason and nature, acknowledging the existence of
a god, but denying any involvement in the human world beyond creation. Deism
rejects the ideas of faith based and revealed religions (those who claim to have
received a special revelation from God) such as Christianity, Islam and Judaism. It
also rejects any religious knowledge found in sacred texts such as the Bible and the
Quran ( Deism94). Instead of having faith and believing that Godis in control, Deists
only believe in reason and use that as their guide to truth ( Deism 94). Deism is
considered a natural religion, accepting what God has created and applying human
knowledge and reason as a way to exist and thrive within the natural laws of the
universe.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Before this time, those who opposed Christianity were labeled as Atheists. Atheism
was the most common false perception of Deism. This new branch of Philosophy
lacked leaders and organization making it hard to understand and often
misinterpreted. Many, of great intellect and perseverance, worked to establish and
justify this new movement. In the 17th century, many different politician,
philosophers and scientists were coming on stage with ideas that questioned faith
and focused on reason and science. It was not until Lord Edward Herbert of
Cherbury published his writings about the five innate religious ideas ( Edward
Herbert, 1st Baron Herbert ). Herbert inspired other philosophers, such as Voltaire,
Jean Jacques Rousseau, and Immanuel Kant of Germany, who picked up and
expanded on his ideas of Deism. Finally, Deism had established core beliefs,
identifying it as neither Christian nor Atheist, and focused on reason and nature.
Large numbers of individuals began to separate themselves from Christian beliefs and

10. Impact Of Globalization On The Economy
Introduction Globalisation is the process in which economies from around the world
become linked through financial integration. Indonesia is located in South East Asia
and is emerging into the global economy as an economic powerhouse. Globalisation
has had profound impacts on the Indonesian economy and has sparked great change
within it. The essence of globalisation means that all economic activity effects and
impacts on other economies, e.g. the GFC in America effected all economies
throughout the world. To develop its economy, Indonesia has had to make use of
macroeconomic policies and trading blocs. During this process, Indonesia has reeked
many advantages associated with globalisation, however it has also felt negative

in Indonesia, the quality for life still remains sub par, with around 12% of
Indonesians still living in poverty. As Indonesia becomes a more prominent figure
in the globalisation, it seems that its GDP becomes less evenly spread, as the
majority of its wealth is gained through exporting which is then shared among only
a select few. Indonesia s uneven distribution of income reflects its HDI of around

When quantity supplied do not equal quantity demanded the outcome is either excess
supply or excess demand, and a tendency for price to change. As this happen the
consumers will increase their quantity demanded, and the movement toward
equilibrium caused by excess supply is both the supply and demand sides. When the
excess supply occur quantity supplied is greater than quantity demanded. While the
reverse of excess demand quantity demanded is greater than quantity supplied. The
excess demand pushes prices upwards in decreasing the quantity demanded and

12. Character Makes Fate
Introduction
Macbeth is the last of the four tragedies written by Shakespeare. Shakespeare depicts
how Macbeth, who was once a powerful hero, sinks into a tyrant bringing calamity to
the country and people. That reflected his individual ambition and lust for power,
which destroyed human nature and showed us the essence of anti humanity caused
by the extreme individualism. There exists inner certainty in Macbeth s tragedy, which
is the ambitious desire, the sense of guilty for vicious circle and unfounded
persistence and confidence. Macbeth s tragedy was not only the tragedy of
disposition, but also that of the society.
This paper structurally consists of six parts: a brief introduction to the play; a tragic
character; Macbeth s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

2.3 Tragic community
It s a tragedy community, which is full of enticement, authority and the
deconstruction of human nature. After Macbeth has killed London, he says that:
Blood hath been shed ere now, I the olden time, ere human statute purged the gentle
weal; Ay, and since too, murders have been perform d. Too terrible for the ear: the
times have been, that, when the brains were out, the man would die, And there an
end; but now they rise again, With twenty mortal murders on their crowns, And push
us from our stools: this is more strange Than such a murder is. (Act 1, Scene 5)
The current event accomplishes the hero. In Macbeth s society, he cannot revolt
against the reality, which leads to his fate.
3. Macbeth s individuality
Macbeth is a unique person. His individuality is real and living. He used to be a
brave hero filling with determination. However, there are lots of minds to go beyond
his bounds.
3.1 Three qualities most defining Macbeth
If three qualities most define Shakespeare s Macbeth, they arguably are ambition,
greed, and the supernatural.
3.1.1 Ambition
Ambition is often the driving force in one s life. It is supposed to be the motivating
factor that drives one towards success. It can be said that
13. The Process Of Ancient Egyptian Embalming
Ancient Egyptian embalming was a very sacred process performed by experienced
embalmers. Ancient Egyptians used to bury the deceased underground, but
because of that they decayed faster in a coffin when they aren t exposed to the hot
sand of the desert. That is how they developed the process of embalming to
preserve the bodies. The process begins where the body is taken into an ibu , a tent
also known as the place of purification . That is where the embalmers wash the
body in palm wine and rinse it off with water from the Nile. The next step is when
one of the men makes a small cut in the left side of the body and removes the liver,
lungs, stomach and also intestines. It is important to remove these internal organs
because they are one of the fastest to decompose. These internal organs are then
washed and packed in natron, a mineral salt that contains hydrated sodium
carbonate. The natron will dry out the organs. The heart is not taken out because
Egyptians believed that the heart was the center of intelligence and feeling and the
body will need it in the afterlife. Then, a long hook is inserted into the nose to
smash the brain and pull it out the same way. The body will now be covered and
stuffed with natron to dry it out. All of the rags and fluids that were used in the
process are buried with the body. After forty more days, the body is then washed
again and covered in oils to keep the skin elastic. The organs that are dehydrated are
wrapped in linen then returned to
14. Gender Bias On The Classroom
Gender Bias In The Classroom Gender roles are widely accepted societal
expectations about how males and females should behave (Rathus, 2010, pg. 447).
Gender roles create a difference in the way that masculine and feminine behaviors
are accepted among society. Gender roles are often depicted as just a part of who a
person is and help better define the difference between male and female. When
society begins to use these genderroles as norms we often see those who don t fit
into the correct role become ostracized by society. When these gender roles
become rigid they can become gender stereotypes. These stereotypes are fixed and
oversimplified beliefs about the way in which men and women ought to behave
(Rathus, 2010, pg. 447). One of the most common gender stereotypes is that men
are the breadwinners and women are the homemakers. These stereotypes also carry
into emotions as well, women being more likely to feel sadness, fear and
sympathy, while men are more likely to feel anger and pride. Another area where
gender stereotypes can be observed is in the work place with women taking jobs
such as nursing and teaching, and men holding jobs in fields like medicine and law.
(Rathus, 2010, pg. 447). There are many physical, cognitive, personality, and
behavioral differences between genders. Physically men and women have different
primary and secondary sex characteristics. The primary sex characteristics are the
organs of the reproductive system where women have ovaries and men
15. Who Is Zeena A Villain
Upon reading Ethan Frome, it was difficult to immediately identify a character that
caused the majority of the conflict throughout the novel. After considering all of the
story s main problems, Zeena appeared to be the villain who caused most of them.
She should be considered the most villainous character due to the fact that she
directly inhibits her husband s happiness on various accounts, contributes to and
indirectly encourages his destructive and rash decisions, and has the stereotypical
villainous attribute of an intimidating presence, even when she is physically
elsewhere. Without Zeena in his life, Ethan dfound himself in very different
circumstances. She is the one direct cause of him not pursuing his relationship with
Mattie, not only because of their marriageand the fact that she does not like Mattie
and is constantly telling Ethan that she should be fired. While this comes across as
harsh and unjust, her point of view is understandable because no woman would want
to watch her husband cheat with their housekeeper that also happens to be her cousin.
However, she has a very strong personality that conveys that she allows no fun or
happiness in her presence, therefore directly contributing to her husband s depressed
mood and lack of motivation. The fact that she has this power over Ethan proves that
her personality is that of a powerful villain. Another quality Zeena possesses that
proves her villain status is that she is constantly influencing her husband to make
16. Matthew Shepard Case Study
Introduction
Twenty one year old, University of Wyoming college gay student, Matthew
Shepard, was found tied to a fence on the Wyoming prairie, barely alive, his skull
fractured and his brain stem crushed On October 7th, 1998. Comatose, he was taken
first to a Laramie hospital, then to a better equipped one in Fort Collins, Colo.,
where he died five days later. Two Laramiemen, Russell Henderson (21 years old)
and Aaron McKinney (22 years old), were convicted of murder and serving for two
life sentencing.
Issues
1.Aaron James McKinney seemed to believe that his allegation that Shepard had
made a pass at him was sufficient grounds to justify joining with friend Russell
Henderson in savagely beating Shepard, clubbing him with a handgun, lashing him to
a wooden fence and leaving him to die. McKinney s attorney wanted the jury to
accept that because McKinney has a homosexual encounter when he was younger
and that he was under the influence of both drugs and alcohol when he alleges
Shepard made a pass at him, that he was therefore not responsible for his actions.

17. Manifestation Of Ageism
The second consideration for the selection of this population pertains to the less
explored albeit equally important concept of productivity among aging people. It
cannot be emphasized enough that alarmist discourse on the possible effects of an
aging population tends to discount the potential of aging people as resources.
Undeniably, there is an overwhelming belief that the age of 65 signifies an end to
productivity. However, this is not necessarily true, considering that associating aging
people with notions of feebleness and unproductivity is stereotypical and a distinct
manifestation of ageism. To note, aging people are cast in cultural stereotypes such as
being senile, feeble, frail, financially distressed, lonely, non productive members
18. The Effect Of Abundance Of Nutrients On Plant
Morphology...
All plants rely on nutrients to help them repair damaged cells and grow, each nutrient
with its own benefit. For example, selenium increases plant resilience within harsh
climates. Plant morphology and growth is especially important for crops that are in
high demand such as winter wheat grain which has one of the highest worldwide
production rates. The effect of the abundance of nutrients on plantmorphology is
further investigated in this study. This study entails winter wheatseeds being placed in
treatments of different concentrations of nutrients and observed and measured after
two weeks have passed. By keeping the environment constant, the effect of each
treatment was measured exclusively. The plants in the treatment without nutrients
were noticeable shorter than those in the treatments which contained nutrients. The
results found suggest that the concentration of nutrients is not as important so long
as nutrients are included in the treatment.
Nutrients are an essential resource needed for plants to grow and replenish. They can
be divided into two main subgroups macronutrients and micronutrients. Most
nutrients are absorbed through the root hairs and can be used to repair tissues as well
as run important processes such as photosynthesis (Rush et al. 2016). For example,
the nutrient Selenium is known to increase the resilience of plants in harsh
environments. In an experiment completed to see the effects of selenium on wheat
growth, it was noted that the Selenium
19. The Aging Process And Key Diseases Associated With Aging
This paper will discuss the relationship between the aging process and key diseases
associated with aging. Examples of aging associated diseases include cancer,
diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and neurodegenerative diseases (LГіpez OtГn,
Blasco, Partridge, Serrano, Kroemer, 2013, p. 1194). Of these, we will discuss in
depth recent studies that have linked aging with Alzheimer s disease,
cardiovascular disease, and diabetes. These diseases affect a significant proportion
of the population over the age of 65 and place a considerable burden on the
American health care system. Therefore, a better understanding of how they are
related to aging and each other can result in the adoption of innovative treatments
and declined risk for older adults. In order to better understand aging associated
diseases, it is first necessary to define what aging is. Aging is a complex,
multifactorial process of harmful mutations in cells and tissues that are accumulated
over time and result in an increased risk of disease and, eventually, death(Tosato,
Zamboni, Ferrini, Cesari, 2007, p. 401). Contrary to the belief that aging can be
cured through medical advances, it is scientifically accepted that, while human life
expectancy has increased, the human life span has remained largely unchanged for
the past 100,000 years (Tosato et al., p. 401). Therefore, future developments in aging
research ought to focus on addressing treatment and prevention of major aging
associated diseases that will
20. The Characteristics Of Cultural Diversity In Culture And...
The complexity of a cultural identity is often underestimated. The groups we identify
ourselves with, have crafted the hearts of our character. So, a cultural identity is
unique to one person because of these groups varying from one s ethnicity to the
music they favor. Having been greatly influenced by my nationality, race, and
generation, my cultural identity is that I am a Generation Z, Hmong American. To
begin, from the moment I was born, I was labeled as an American. Growing up in
a country most famous for equality and the American Dream, I realize how
privileged I am to call this place my home. However, being an American means
more than being born in this country. Being American is about taking advantage of
opportunities and always striving to be your best self. So, I appreciate the trait of
working hard to better my life, especially through my education. It has been drilled
into me and made part of my daily routine that my education will help me become
successful so that when I grow up, I can contribute to my society with my career. I
have also accepted the value that everyone has unalienable rights, such as the
freedom to be whoever they want. Everyone should treat others with respect, no
matter how they identify or what they believe. Since America is so diverse in culture,
ideas, and values, I have gained tolerance, which drives my value to be kind to
people different from me. Given these points, the American culture has shaped my
beliefs and moralities that of which are also affected by my ethnicity. In addition, I
am Hmong. The language, clothing, and social bonds reflect the beauty of this way
of life, but since the mid twentieth century, it evolved due to war. Many Hmong
peoplefled their homeland Laos and immigrated to America to seek refuge. In the
newer generations, tradition is not being upheld because of cultural assimilation.
Through my experience with my Hmong culture, I have grown up being conscious
of how I portray myself to others, because of reputation and pride being highly
valued. I was taught manners and rules to be a good Hmong daughter. However, I do
not agree with many of these traditional views. There is a distinct hierarchy that
declares men as the dominant figures,

The topics dealt with in both writings 1984 by George Orwell (1949), and Little
Brother by Cory Doctorow (2008), are inextricably related. In the books, the idea
of freedom is belittled. As seen through the eyes of fatalistic protagonists who rose
to place challenges to the oppressive regime, both writings serve as a warning of the
devastating consequences a totalitarian regime poses to society. The novels, 1984 ,
and Little Brother , depict two different societies where people who are controlled by
a totalitarian regime that uses the fear of authorities, the fear of fictitious terror acts,
and scrutinizes human actions, are being lured to willingly comply with the
government demands, and give away their freedom at the expense of fictitious
security state of mind. Regardless of the outcome of... Show more content on

I know that you will fail. There is something in the universe I don t know, some
spirit, some principle that you will never overcome (Orwell 269 70). In other
words, the writer is telling us, the readers, that we should not let the government
take too much control and invade our privacy, because they will somehow make our
lives miserable. They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary
safety deserve neither liberty nor safety (Benjamin Franklin, Memoirs of the life
writings of Benjamin Franklin, 3). Freedom is a cornerstone in every successful
nation. It is a crucial condition, and the solely reason for progress within either the
state or the individuals. Freedom is something we have to cherish and protect. Both
authors, George Orwell and Cory Doctorow, confer the notions of civil rights and
freedoms that are pulverized and vanish under those governments. As well as, they go
great lengths to raise concerns about the ethics of security and protection measures
established by such regimes. From Marcus point of view, the oppression endured led
him to contempt the true meaning of freedom and establish a goal to achieve

The world has been bombarded by stories of how governments keep secret
weapons, secret experiments, and the everlasting conspiracies about them. But how
many stories have people heard about chemical weapons til a few weeks ago.
Chemical weapons are one of the most dangerous threats that not just soldiers but
everyone face today, But the publicity they get is so minimal it s scary. But just
how much people know about them? Chemical weapons are an issue because
chemical weapons can cause so much harm that they should be banned. They are
weapons of mass destruction. Look at napalm, it sticks to your skin and feels like
your on fire. Chemical weapon agents, are organized into several categories according
to the physiological manner in which they
24. Huckleberry Finn Morality Analysis
The Choice of Morality
In Michael Lackey s essay, Beyond Good and Evil: Huckleberry Finn on Human
Intimacy , Lackey argues that Mark Twain s novel, Adventures of Huckleberry Finn,
seeks to destroy and abolish morality and considers morality socially, psychology,
and politically destructive. I agree with Lackey s points that in the case of Adventures
of Huckleberry Finn accepting morality means rejecting friendship and accepting
friendship means rejecting morality. However, I don t believe such an argument
adequately addresses the base of morality and human culture. In the course of this
essay, I will argue that morality is not evil and acts as a good force more often than a
bad. I believe that morality has to be determined by each person ... Show more

Lackey says that, without the culture s valorization of morality, Tom could not
effectively justify his systematic abuse of Jim. (498) I disagree with Lackey s
statement. I believe that even though the culture during this time period had an
obstructed view of morality, I predict that Tom wouldn t have been able to get
away with Jim s abuse. I believe that Aunt Sally or another character (if they knew),
would have stepped in and stopped Tom s antics. I do not think the way Tom acted
reflects the morals, per say, of a majority of people in this era, rather the game of a
child. With that being said, I do think that the view of morality that most people had
during this time, allowed them to have and control slaves without feeling guilty.
Their view between right and wrong was obstructed. Rather than binding everyone as
a culture under common ground, they split apart, alienating humans from each other
based on skin color.
One of Lackeys major points in his essay is that Huck ultimately has to make the
choice between friendship and morality. If Huck wants to be moral, he can t free
Jim, and if Huck want s to have a friendship with Jim, he will suffer a loss of
morality. We witness Huck s inner turmoil throughout the novel, especially when Jim
is talking about his family and how he s going to work his way to free them, and if
that doesn t work, steal them. (Twain __)

Usually when you go to the movies it doesn t end with you sitting in a parking lot
past midnight listening to your mother tell you the story about how you almost
never existed. That s exactly what happened to me three years ago. After this
experience I ve seen every day with brand new eyes. The color blueis deeper, the
sound of laughter is sweeter, the stars in the sky are brighter, the world is bigger
and every moment I spend alive feels so much longer. Here s why. This life altering
event started as any typical day does. My motherand my 15 year old self were bored
and she decided to treat me to a movie. I typed movies into the google search bar on
my phone and the showings popped up onto my screen. We were stuck between
two movies but we ended up deciding on Life of Pi. I m so glad we did because the
movie really moved my mother and me. As we were sitting in the cold theatre, we
were blown away by the film. The story took place in India and the visuals were
stunning; a young boy and a Bengal tiger stuck on a raft in an endless ocean,
humpback whales, tycoons, a tropical island and so much more. On top of the
visuals, the message was very powerful. The whole movie was a philosophical story
told to an atheist reporter by an Indian man debating whether God was real or not.
Once the movie was over I felt so enlightened and judging by what my mother was
about to tell me, so did she. It was dark outside and the parking lot was mostly
empty. We got in the car, clicked on

Fathers and sons have special bonds that connect them in a different way from other
individuals. Although they may not expose much emotion, respect and honor are key
factors that link their relationships. Siddhartha and his father had a certain
understanding towards each other. Siddhartha loved, feared, respected and was
patient towards his father; an equal amount of these traits were reciprocated with the
addition of understanding.
Siddhartha was a proactive, self sufficient young man. He quickly absorbed the
Brahmin s doctrine and decided he wanted to learn even more; he had to become a
Samana. Of course, in order to make such a step he needed his father s permission.
When he first requested, his father rejected the idea and said ... Show more content on

It was then that his father understood that Siddhartha must leave, even if it pained
him.
Siddhartha, however, did not understand his father s perspective until he became a
father. Siddhartha s son was eleven when they first met and therefore they were
unable to establish a strong relationship. His child was arrogant, hateful and
spoiled; the exact opposite of himself. Siddhartha chose to counter this behavior
only with love, and not with punishment or rebuke. His son quickly grew tired of
this and fled from his father, hoping never to return. This left Siddhartha upset and
wounded. Nevertheless, it was necessary for Siddhartha to experience such extreme
loss to realize how he had affected his father. When he left his father, Siddhartha
also instilled pain without realizing the result of his actions. Although this did not
completely heal his wound, Siddhartha was able to chuckle at the irony of how his
son acted exactly as he had; how events had a manner of working in circles.
Siddhartha s son s actions revealed to him the pain he inflicted on his own father.
They also made him remember the immense love and fear he has towards his father.
Siddhartha s relationship with his father was one that should be cherished. Fathers
and son of the present should strive to have open, understanding relationships. Sons
should show a deep respect for their fathers, both directly and by all of their actions.
Both the father s and son s reputations can be judged by how the son

reconstruction, slaves became freedmen. America took on new territory of the

The materials that usually used for construction such as reinforced concrete, timber,

construction of electric tower, industrial building (factory), roof truss, bridge and
more. However, the usage of steel for residential is limited because their usage
depends on the accompany with the other material. Steel framed structures are
designed with the connections between the separate members treated as either non

The erection of the steel is carried out by skilled labour. In situ cast concrete
structures all work, except possibly the cutting and bending of reinforcement is
carried out on the site, the erection of formwork and placing of reinforcement by
skilled and unskilled labour and usually the making and placing concrete by semi
skilled or unskilled labour. Much site space is needed for the storage and mixing of
materials, although in some districts this problems can be overcome when the site
is restricted in area by the use of truck mixed concrete . The type of formwork used,
the nature and size of building will have an effect upon the actual method of work
and the speed at which it progresses.
3.1.2 Cost and speed of erection Reinforced concrete is likely cheaper in cost but in
situ, generally longer in construction than steel although construction can be rapid
with a disciplined design approach, careful and detailed and planning of the site
work, good site organization and properly trained operatives and good supervision.
To some extent cost and speed of erection are dependent upon the availability of
materials and labour. On expensive sites speed of erection to permit early occupation
of the completed building is a most important consideration and is sometimes the
decisive factor in the choice of the framing material. In

One of the hardest pieces of meat to cook is the Tri tip steak roast, because most
are three pounds and many tend to burn the outside of the meat while the middle is
stone cold raw. I like my meat cooked to a nice medium temperature, I feel the best
way to cook a Tri tip steak is on an outdoor briquette barbeque, anything other than
this is just not doing this piece of meatany justice.
Let s start with the grocery store, to have the best meat that will melt in your mouth,
always start with a nice piece of raw beef. Meat is graded on a scale according to
marbling effects. Nice Restaurants only used USDA Prime. You and I can t buy
Prime meat in the grocery store. The USDA grades meat, and Prime is young, well
fed cattle and has an abundant marbling. Most grocery stores can carry USDA
Choice meat, and this is my recommendation of what to buy; it is less marbling but
is still very tender and juicy. You have to be careful, some stores don t carry this and
try to sell the lowest grade which is USDA Select. Select is fairly less tender, less
marbling , less on flavor and juiciness. Stay away from USDA Select. Vons carries a
nice USDA Choice meat, so I recommend it.
Seasoning the meat is a crucial element of this process. I like to bring my roast out of
the refrigerator and season it, letting it sit on the counter so it comes to room
temperature, while my briquettes are getting ready on the barbeque. Allowing the
meat come fully up to temperature will help the meat

By: Mark Daugherty
In Dr. Faustus, Christopher Marlowe uses the resolution of the conflict between Dr.
Faustus and the beliefs of his time to explore the idea of man s place in the universe.
In Faustus time, it was believed that man had a place in the universe, and man must
stay within his boundaries. It can be shown that Dr. Faustus stepped out of his place,
failed in his attempt repent his actions, and ultimately caused his own end. The
conflict between Dr. Faustus and the belief system of the age of discovery is
established when Faustus makes a pact with the devil to sell his soul. Faustus, a top
scholar and doctor in many fields, feels as though he has reached the pinnacle of
human achievement. Yet, he desires further knowledge... Show more content on

He is later approached by the old man, who begs Faustus to consider the mercy of
God, for Faustus has retained his human soul and can be forgiven by God. Here the
conflict between Faustus and the belief system of his time escalates even further
when he fails to repent his sins against God. The conflict is finally resolved, or
ended, when Dr. Faustus twenty four year pact ends, and he is carried away to hell by
demons. Marlowe uses this action as a means to show that if man steps out his
place in the universe, he will indeed fall as far as his aspirations were high. It is
proved that Dr. Faustus did indeed cause his own end. Christopher Marlowe s Dr.
Faustus attempts to prove that man must not step out of his place, or he will meet
his demise. Through Faustus, Marlowe succeeds at this attempt on many levels. The
clash between Faustus and the beliefs of the times is resolved when Faustus fails to
repent his sins and meets his demise at the hand of Lucifer. Marlowe makes it clear
here that he his against Faustus high ambitions and believes those with god like
ambitions will fall to their demise. Faustus here becomes representative of man s
desire for unattainable knowledge and power, albeit on an exaggerated level.
Marlowe s Dr. Faustus uses the conflicts of the main character and the resolution of
these conflicts to establish and further his ideas throughout the novel.

Sadly, the quantity of how to discretize a continual attribute is infinite. Discretization

When someone is captured by the enemy in war, they are more than likely going to
die. Escaping and running thousands of miles back home where family is does not
happen like one might see in the movies. In war, people die. Ambrose Bierce tried
to express that heavily when he wrote An Occurrence At Owl Creek Bridge.
Looking into it through a New Historicism criticism, Ambrose Bierce s background,
the background on the Civil War, and how the plot more specifically the war is
portrayed can back up the idea that Ambrose Bierce wrote An Occurrence At Owl

Ambrose Bierce does what a lot of writers do not, which is portray the war how it
actually might have been. It is portrayed very violently and there is a real feeling
of fear throughout the story when Peyton is trying to escape from the enemy
soldiers. This helps portray the message because war is a scary thing, but
romanticizing it makes it sound a lot more bearable, when in reality it is not. The
imagery also helps because it brings the story to life by instilling in the reader s
head how Peyton Farquhar was feeling moments before his death. Bierce uses the
image of water quite a bit in the story to explain the surroundings, which were not
ideal, but it can also work as a way to show how his mind was flowing before he
was hung. Peyton s mind was flowing very rapidly through what he thought was his
last moments alive, and that is similar to the rapid flowing of the water. Overall,
there are a lot of elements that can help express Ambrose Bierce s message while
writing An Occurrence At Owl Creek Bridge, which was: War is not something that
should be romanticized. Some of those elements are Ambrose Bierce s background,
why Ambrose Bierce had such a strong disliking for the war, the background of the

The automobile industry is the fastest growing sector in India. Growth in
consumption patterns has encouraged tremendous improvement in manufacturing
sector and the auto industry has been growing at a rapid pace recording over 2.06

vehicles, multi utility vehicles such as jeeps), and over 9 million two and three

It was this promising outlook for Indian auto industry that forced Fiat into a
collaboration with Tata Corporation India in 2007. However within few months,
troubles were reported and by 2010, it was officially considered an unfortunate
venture since Fiat was losing in terms of sales and profits so rapidly that it made Fiat
and Tata rethink their Joint venture. In 2011, the two companies decide to reorganize
their distribution channels to allow separate distribution facilities.
Fiat Motors had initially planned to sell through Tata dealers but the channel tie up
did not prove profitable as evidenced by sagging sales and in 2011 it was decided that
separate dealerships might work better.
The joint venture agreement with Tata Motorsstands. We are altering our marketing
strategy. We have identified 20 cities where Fiat cars will now be sold separately and

During the observationthere were two teachers, and 7 infants. The room that the
observation took place in had many toys such as: balls, bouncers, walkers, rattles,
and soft plush books. There was also a play mat where all the toys were, and two
rocking chairs in the room. During this observation I focused on 6 different
developmental domains. In my paper I am going to discuss perception, motor skills,
cognitive ability, communication/language, social skills, and emotions.
Perception is how the infant incorporates his/her 5 senses into what they are
exploring, and reacting too. During my observation Baby M reacted to sights,
sounds, and touching. According to the book haptic perception is perception of the
properties of an object using touch (Fogel, 2011. PG 152). Baby M placed the balls
and teethers directly in her mouth to get a better idea or perception of what the toy
was. Although she is at the age where she knew what each toy was she still explored
it using her mouth. Baby M also showed signs of auditory development by listening
to what the caregiver was saying to her and responding with positive emotions when
told to do something.

In chapter four of Practices of Looking, it discusses the concept of realism and
perspective . In the history of visual culture, many realisms, motives and meanings
are put together in familiar conversations (for example linear perspectives). Many
art movements have incorporated, in some way, components of realism. But
sometimes ignoring other components that strongly went with realism sometime
labeled as trickery or illusionism (for example, perspective). Also, in visual
culture, realism makes the viewer see any image in anyway we portray it. Art is
used to devote the making of things and event all around the world, so it is an idea
that, us as viewers, can read/see art and it s history and see the relationship
between the ways we see it and how it s form is represented and taken throughout it s
history. Realism helped us as viewers depict the new art in today s world and

dissonance caused by the incident escalates as Grace starts to face social
discrimination and social obligations. She starts to feel the weight of the
unprecedented accident her stubbornness caused. In here, the sense of guilt is very
impregnable. However, the addition of the strong guilt Grace feels, adds more spice
to the story and continues to dig further the readers hearts and minds. With the mind

42. Youth Environmental Stewardship Paper
Introduction Youth Environmental Stewardship (YES), one of the major programs in
Rural Action, provides an exceptionable opportunity for all kids to learn about the
forest and the ecology system in Ohio. In addition, those activities will not only help
children to learn some survival skills and how to communicate with others, but also
offer an effective occasion to promote the relationship between youth and their
parents. However, our team found the flaws and the areas can be improved. The
strength, weakness, opportunity and threat will be illustrated in the next four
sections. Strength First of all, the strength of the Youth Environmental Stewardship is
assisting youth to start to build the ability of teamwork and leadership. In fact,... Show

The schools that majority of youth have spent more than ten years to study in, are
wonderful places to educate them the knowledge of the ecology and environment and
expand YES services widely. In the article Environmental Stewardship and
Sustainability , Tulipane (2009) introduces that we should build more facilities,
programs and associate with local schools, even systems in order to help children and
teenagers to invest in our future. Furthermore, Clean Annapolis River Project
(CARP), non governmental organization, has already worked with school to engage
youth to participate to the environment. There is a short video on YouTube that calls
Youth Leading Environmental Change which was uploaded by CARP. There are two
groups of young boys and girls which evaluate their experience in this program.
Several young girls mentioned that they do not learn much about environment in
class, and their teachers said that they need to spend more time on math and self
ability instead of on the environment; they actually learn a lot from the program, such
as group work and protect the environment. Thus, those information indicates that it
is a wonderful chance to expand the service of Rural
43. Natural History Of Us Essay
I received an e arc of The Natural History of Us by Rachel Harris from Spencer Hill
Press via Inkslinger PR in conjunction with The Natural History of Us Blog Tour.
This has in no way influenced my thoughts and feelings about the book.
This is the first YA book from Rachel Harris that I have read, which is totally wired
because I love her stuff. I have only read her NA books before this one. So when I
received this for review, I was very excited and I loved it.
The Natural History of Us was a fun, emotional read that is sweet and adorable. You
want to find out what happened? What is going to happen? And how everything is
going to be fixed?

I am not saying that his friends are horrible, because they are not. But he needs
someone to be there for me, for him to tell everything. He had that in Peyton, until
everything went south.
I liked that setting of The Natural History of Us. I don t know what it s like to live
on a farm, but the way that it s presented in the book, let me use my imagination and
it was really fun.
Nevertheless, there were also some really amazing things that happened in The
Natural History of Us. That made you want to cry. They weren t the amazing that is
the best thing in the world, but the amazing, that I am glad that Rachel Harris used
them in her book.
I love Rachel Harris writing style, it s easy to read and you know that when you start
her books, you are going to finish them pretty quickly because you want to know
what is going to happen next.
Overall, The Natural History of Us tells us a story of how two people that have
been torn apart can be brought back together. With writing that is captivating, a story
line that is intriguing and characters that you want to be friends with, The Natural
History of Us is a book for every contemporary fan or

However, as some of the concepts in social psychology state, the seemingly unatural
behaviours of the cult members are inevitable under the influence of various factors.
Firstly, status of group members share a similarity towards each other which people
with low esteem are extremely likely to be found among the cult members. A great
number of Jones followers were drug addicted, homeless or having terrible
relationship with their family. While they were abandoned, ignored or even hated by
the society and their loved ones, Jones gave every member unconditional love and
protection.
Therefore, when people with low esteem and lack of social identity finally found
the place they d been searching for which was a group they were welcomed to, they
would appreciate the warm welcome of the group and would do anything to stay in
it, feeling the sense of belonging and connection. Jones used the dependency and

45. The Presentation Of The Portrait Of Jesus
Discuss the purpose behind the portrait of Jesus presented in one of the four gospels.
Use the gospel text as your starting point.
The opening verse of The Gospel According to Mark states, The beginning of the
good news of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. (Mark 1:1, NRSV) From the outset of
Mark s Gospel Jesus is portrayed as the Messiah who has come to the world in God
s favour (Mark 1:1 11). Mark s Gospel proclaims the good news of Jesus which
would have helped to reaffirm the faith of Christian followers across the ancient
world. By examining the rhetoric within Mark s Gospel, readers are able to gain an
insight into the meaning of the text as well as an understanding of the purpose for
which it was written. As the audience reads the ... Show more content on

Whilst all of the gospels are proclaiming the good news of Jesus Christ, the genre
behind each of these texts has a significant impact on how they are each viewed by
the readers in antiquity.
Strictly speaking, the author of Mark s Gospel is anonymous . However, there is
strong evidence that support the theory that John Mark was the author and that he
wrote as a result of his immediate association with the preaching and eyewitness
accounts of the Apostle Peter. Numerous scholars accept the theory that Peter was
martyred in Rome under the rule of Nero in approximately 65 CE. In line with the
date of Peter s martyrdom and along with the school of thought that accepts the
theory that Mark was inspired by Peter, The Gospel According to Mark was most
likely written approximately 65 to 70 CE in the Roman Empire.
Mark is part of the Synoptic Gospels due to the overwhelming similarities between
Matthew, Mark and Luke. Within the synoptic narrative framework, many scholars
believe that the gospels were all derived from the same original text. A commonly
accepted contemporary theory is that Mark was the earliest of the gospels written,
and as such, was the primary literacy source for the other synoptic gospels. As the
earliest of the Gospels written, Mark would have played a fundamental role in
developing one of the earliest portraits of Jesus for the Christian
46. The Philosophy Of Teaching And Teaching
Teaching is among the most intricate, eternal and beautiful professions and as a
visionary and cultural leader I know that education transcends time and place,
deriving much from both social, cultural context and individual style. I am committed
to continuously improve my practices with the desire that my leading example instills
in my students and colleagues the passion and enthusiasm for learningand teaching. I
am a dedicated, resourceful educational professional who consistently take part in
training opportunities designed to strength and improve educator s pedagogical skills,
monitor policies and practices that promote a safe learning environment.
As a managerial leader, collaboration and good communication in the school setting
is very important to me because Effective principals are effective managers. They
must communicate, develop relationships, and coordinate efforts of teachers,
assistant principals, custodians, secretaries, counselors, librarians (Alby Robbins,
1998, P. 16). In my district I lead for two years the Language Acquisition PLC for
middle schools and became an active member of the Building Leadership Team,
Standards Reference Grading Building Implementation Team, Educational Equity
Committee. State wide, I am a member of the Collaboration for Kids Oversight Team,
World Languages Culture Team, IowaState University STEM Equity Team and
Outstanding Educators of Iowa Committee. All these opportunities enabled me to

47. Romeo And Julia Vail
Avery had once thought that taking up the cross was a vehicle that religious
fanatics drove to church. But now that she had a synergistic blending of the
meanings of symbols and the flow of life, she found herself with a hint of
enlightenment. Once she understood that the cross is a simple symbol that
represents the way, she finally had a glimpse of this light. Her evolution so far had
been painful and rushed, only thirty years, and now she was back where she had
started, a childlike place of loveand forgiveness. She realized that the tiny seed she
had always been would continue to thrive through trials and flourish eternally as the
love of the universe. She was sure that she would forget her part again and again, but
occasionally... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In her adolescence she called up ghosts of dead musicians to visit the bedrooms of
her friends and leave behind token gifts for the young fans. More than half the
time, Avery didn t know if the stories were really happening or if she was making
them up. And she was adept at adding proof with props like the silver bracelet her
friend found under her bed.
The one and only Jim Morrison left behind a beautiful silver and turquoise bracelet
for one such friend who had a spiritual evolution when she found it under her bed.
This friend of Avery s, a teenaged girl in great want of approval, gained love and
approval from a dead rock icon. This girl s life went from bad to worse. So many
girls think of only the love of men; that familiar once upon a time story of a
princess deserving true love. Many girls forget themselves and lose their way to
God. And then way too late in life they find out that they have taken their beauty for
granted and become despairing victims of themselves seeking approval from one
man to man. The search for love and approval from lost souls is the unraveling of
dreams.
What Avery hadn t realized as she spent her power in schemes of disillusionment was
that while she thought she might be giving others some form of fulfillment and
pleasure, she was really drifting in her lack of direction. She had no defined purpose
and so much to learn.
The tales always took on a life of their own,
48. Effects Of The Stock Market Crash Of 1929
The 1920s went into American History as the most controversial decade (Geisst,
2012 p. 146). Nobody could have foreseen at the beginning of 1929 what importance
this year would have for the financial market (Wigmore, 1975 p. 4).
The booming 20s were drastically ended by the Stock Market crash of 1929. It went
down in history as one of the worst economic downturns (Termin, 1976 p. xi). The
panic at the stock market which led to many people trying to sell their stocks started
on Wednesday, October 23 (Geisst, 2012 p. 185). Thursday, October 24, 1929 has
gone into history as Black Thursday (Geisst, 2012 p. 185). The whole stock market
lost 30 percent of its value before the end of the year 1929 (McGrattan Prescott,

179). De Long and Shleifer (1990 p. 3) estimate that the stock market in 1929 was
one third overvalued. Common stocks seemed to be running out in 1929
(Galbraith, 1977 p. 69). Therefore because of the shortage of stocks, prices rose to
sky high levels (Galbraith, 1977 p 69). It cannot be proven that stocks were
overrated at the time of the crash. Yet there is prove that speculative gamblers are
not to be blamed for the crash. Knowledgeable investors were just too optimistic in
the stocks and therefore this led to the burst (Bierman, 1991 p 175). Laura Agadoni
supports this cause in her research paper (Agadoni, n.d). It was not seen at first hand
in October 1929 if stocks were overvalued. The market functioned well; investors and
speculators were buying stocks (Bierman, 1997 p.
49. Impact of Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) Programs
on...
Preparing students for life success, requires a balanced education that includes social
and emotional education. It is important that families, schools and communities come
together to achieve this. This article is researching the positive effects, of social and
emotional learning of students in kindergarten to eighth grade. This article
summarizes three reviews of research on the impact of social and emotional learning
(SEL) programs on elementary school and middle age school students. These
programs promote social and emotional skills (Weissberg, Taylor, Schellinger,
Payton, Pachan, Dymcicki and Durlak, 2008). The SEL programs showed many
benefits in both school and after school settings for students with and without

This study was done again to see if social and emotional learning still had positive
effects on children. The study asked these questions; (a)What skills, attitudes,
behaviors and academic outcomes do SEL programs achieve for elementary and
middle school (K 8) students? (b) Do SEL program effects endure over time? (c)
Are SEL programs effective in school and after school and for students with
problems and without problems and (d) What features are associated with highly
effective SEL programs? (Weissberg, Taylor, Schellinger, Payton, Pachan, Dymicki
and Durlak, 2008). The study used a meta analytic approach. The study was broken
down into three reviews; The Universal Review, The Indicated Review and The After
School Review (Weissberg, Taylor, Schellinger, Payton, Pachan and Durlak, 2008) .
The Universal Review included 180 school based studies involving 277,977 students.
The strategy involved classroom programming, which were a set of lessons that
sought to develop social and emotional skills such as problem and feeling
identification, goal setting, conflict resolution strategies and interpersonal problem
solving skills (Weissberg, Taylor, Schellinger, Payton, Pachan, Dymicki and Durlak,
2008).
The Indicated Review had 80 studies involving 11,337 students (Weissberg, Taylor,
Schellinger, Payton, Pachan, Dymicki and Durlak,
