An Age Of Informational Starvation
We are living in an age of informational starvation. People are seeking for something that is
attractive and glowing to see on their screens. Advertisers found that possibility as an opportunity
to shine and they had created many different works that promote their products. However, it is
possible to stop on one commercial, which is called Cristiano Ronaldo vs. Rafael Nadal, which is
the commercial by Nike, to understand the way they appeal to the audience. First of all, like any
other piece of art, the narrator creates the specific theme that addresses the human eye. That theme
provokes a specific response in human mind, and their thinking provokes the profit if the advertiser
was successful. However, the ethos of the current commercial is obvious Nike Company is one of
the leading industries that deliver sports equipment. Nike represents one of the main players in the
sports equipment market. They create rules, and they create trends. Their credibility is outstanding
due to the fact that they are constantly doing different market examinations that concentrate on
trend analysis. That is their profit that is why their researches show them evident details about
marketing trends and they have enough money to adjust. Speaking of the logos of the article, it is
important to mention that this commercial used the paradox as the rhetorical device so that it is
complex to talk about the logical flow of arguments that they present. Their paradoxical choice

Quality Management in Current Business Management and Issues
Quality Management in Current Business Management Issues
Objective
The objective of this study is to examine quality management in business and to apply
contemporary theory.
Introduction
The U.S. Small Business Administration reports that effective management is the key to the
establishment and growth of the business and states as well that the key to successful management
is examination of the marketplace environment and create employment and profit opportunities that
provide the potential growth and financial viability of the business. (2009) Management, while
being of primary importance is reported as an area [that] is often misunderstood and poorly
implemented, primarily because people focus on the output rather than the process of management.
(U.S. Small Business Administration, 2009)
I. Socio Technical Systems Theory
The work of Zu (2009) entitled Infrastructure and Core Quality Management Practices: How Do
They Affect Quality? reports a study that sought to find a resolution to the findings in the quality
management literature that were conflicting about various quality management practices, and
specific to the infrastructure of quality management practices and core quality management
practices that impact quality performance. The study used the Socio Technical Systems theory and
research regarding quality management implementation and performance. Zu states in the findings
that the structural model contains two integrated factors used in

Comparing A Raisin In The Sun And Death Of A Salesman
What happens to a dream deferred? Is a question from Langston Hughes, A Dream Deferred asks
one what happens to a forgotten dream. This idea connects two well known American plays, A
Raisin in the Sun, by Lorraine Hansberry and Death of a Salesman, by Arthur Miller, in the sense
that each character has a dream deferred. A dream deferred is a forgotten dream or one that has
been left behind. The two father figures, Walter and Willy, share many comparisons such as
having a big dream reaching for success in business, leaving them behind, and their reactions.
Walter Younger and Willy Loman both have big dreams to pursue big careers in business. In A
Raisin in the Sun, Walter says You see, this little liquor store we got in mind cost seventy five
thousand and we figured the initial... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
. In A Raisin in the Sun, Bobo, one of Walter s business partners, says, Yessss! All of it... It s all
gone... Walter has just found out here that the money he gave to Willy for the liquor store was
stolen by Willy, his other business partner. The money was supposed to be deposited into a
savings account for Beneatha s school, and the rest was expected to be saved for the future. This
contributes to the idea of a dream deferred because this is where Walter finds out it is over for
him. He no longer has the ability to invest money in the business because the money is gone. This
is where Walter learns his dream is dead. Similarly, in Death of a Salesman, Howard Wagner, Willy
s boss, tells Willy, I don t want you to represent us. I ve been meaning to tell you for a long time
now. In this scene, Willy is fired from his job as a salesman because Howard believes he is too old
and tired. This contributes to the bigger picture of Willy no longer being able to pursue the dream
of being a salesman. Like Walter, Willy s dream is taken away from him and has no option but to
leave it

A Study With Immense Determination And Motivation For...
I began this mini study with immense determination and motivation in hearing personal experiences
from female superintendents regarding the barriers and challenges they faced along their journeys.
Selfishly, I sought to better understand what I may face later down the road, as I personally aspire
to be a superintendentone day. Additionally, I have always had a strong interest in challenges that
marginalized groups often face. Therefore, it seemed like this topic would be natural fit. During my
very first interview, I was quite nervous. Although I had mulled over my questions repeatedly
and had practiced my questions with my husband, classmates, and in the mirror, I wanted to
sound like a competent researcher who was authentically invested in this process. I did not want
to misrepresent myself or the university. I giggled as I listened to the recording of the first
interview. I kept saying good! and okay... for a conversation filler, occasionally even when the
participant was still talking! During this interview, I quickly realized that my questions were out of
order. While I intended to open with easier, less personal questions, I found that stalled deep
conversations regarding gender barriers in the profession. Therefore, I abandoned my specific
conversation order with the two other participants and let the conversationflow more freely. I
believe I was stifling the responses and myself by being too rigid. While that rigidity potentially
came out of fear

Summary Of The Way Of A Cherokee By Foxxy
The Way of a Cherokee by Foxxy is about her memories and experiences growing up as a young
child with her sister, Sierra, and grandpa. She is a Native American that has lived in a world that
is different from the world her grandpa grew up in. In addition, she learned to love and appreciate
nature just like her grandpa did. I can relate to her relationship with her grandpa because I have
created many memories with my grandpa. My grandpa told me stories about his childhood. In
Foxxy s essay she explores the relationship between identity and cultural history through physical
location, family relationships, and language differences. Foxxy experiences things in her physical
location that helps her recognize her identity and culture. For example,... Show more content on

Foxxy s grandpa helped her learn about the Cherokee people by telling her stories. My grandpa
liked to tell me stories about his childhood when I was a little girl. He told me when he was a
boy his family did not have much money, so he had to get a job as a paper boy to help buy
groceries. He explained how he would throw the paper at the front door from his bicycle. He
taught me that I have to work for the things in life that I want and to not expect a handout. Also,
from the essay I learned that Foxxy s grandpa did not have to go out on the prairie with her
because his stories helped her identify with her culture. For example, Foxxy stated that her
grandpa was a cowboy. He was a chief. He was a Cherokee. Grandpa was a wise man (par. 14). I
believe this showed that Foxxy was impacted by her grandpa because she described him as a
very important man. He helped her identify her culture by telling her stories about the wild
prairie deer. My grandpa is a person that I look up to and respect because he started out with
nothing. He taught me values and morals. Also, when Foxxy got stuck in the bog, her grandpa
did not yell or belittle her. Instead her grandpa very gracefully helped her out. This showed that
her grandpa allowed her to explore her identity and culture. I can relate to this because my grandpa
is very kind and patient just like Foxxy s

In the article, The Onion writes an article about a product called MagnaSoles that they advertise
as a good product with statements from scientists. The Onion uses satire to show how easy it is to
sell a product by putting science behind its name. First, in the second paragraph they say ... It
harnesses the power of magnetism to properly align the biomagnetic field around your foot. which
was told by a pseudoscientist, or fake scientist. They use a big word like biomagnetic to make it
seem like it s useful just by saying a scientist who is actually a fake scientist describe it with big
words. Next, they counter argue themselves by calling the product semi plausible calling it a
product that can only get half the credit which it deserves.

Genentech Biotechnology
The birthplace of Biotechnology is located in South San Francisco, CA, where Genentech was
started in 1976. Biochemist Dr. Herbert Boyer and Robert A. Swanson were the founders of
Genentech, and from 1995 2009 Arthur Levinson had become the CEO of Genentech; presently it
is Ian T. Clark. Genentech is the leading biotechnologycompany that uses human genetic
information to discover, develop, manufacture and commercialize medicines to treat people with
serious life threatening medical conditions (2014).
Biotechnology is the technology based on the science of cellular and biomolecular processes. The
processes develop technologies and products that help improve the lives of people and even affect
the health of our environment. Biotechnology uses cellular and biomolecular processes by using
molecular mechanisms by which genetic and metabolic processes occur in plant, animal, and
microbial organisms. By using this technology, it provides breakthrough products and technologies
to combat debilitating and rare diseases, reduce our environment footprint, feeding the hungry, uses
less energy and cleaner energy, and has safer and cleaner and more efficient industrial
manufacturing processes. The many factors they are driven to prevent in our environment overall
affects our human health. Genentech provides products in the areas of immunology, oncology, and
disorders of tissue growth and repair. A familiar life threatening disease is cancer. Whether it is

Analysis Of Hannah Coulter
In his book Hannah Coulter, Wendell Berry explores how the trials and tribulations one
experiences shape them from the beginning of life until death. Janne Teller writes, Everything
begins only to end. The moment you were born you begin to die. That s how it is with everything
In detailing Hannah Coulter s life, Berry shows how the era she grew up in, the people surrounding
her, and various life events formed the qualities and characteristics of the woman she became.
Beery Starts his exploration of how a person is shaped by their life by starting at, of course the
beginning. The main character, Hannah Coulter is born in 1922 in a fictional place called

And Grandmam,as I have seen in looking back, was the decider of my fate. She shaped my life,
without of course knowing what my life would be. She taught me many things that I was going to
need to know, without either of us knowing I would need to know them. She made the
connections that made my life, as you will see. If it hadn t been for her what would my life have
been? (11) An example of molding and shaping ones values lies in the theme of education
throughout the book. Education was important to Grandmam because she only went to the 8th
grade. So, wanting a better life for her granddaughter, she ensured Hannah not only graduated high
school but was valedictorian as well. Hannah, in turn, ensured that her children continued farther
by graduating college themselves. Transition from being a child to being an adult. The certain age
at which the transition takes place as does the nature of change. The choice to place Hannah
Coulter s story as growing up and coming of age in the 20s 40s allows the reader to consider for
themselves the contrast between that culture and one of today. After graduation Hannah was gently
pushed out of the nest and expected to be self sufficient, finding a job and a husband. This was
accepted and even expected by Hannah, unlike in today s era in which children often remain with
their families well into adulthood. While knowing that Hannah had the support,

Food Regulation In High School
WHAT will it take to get Americans to change our eating habits? (Bittman) Nothing can, if it has
not worked yet, nothing will work. Food regulation is a huge topic that has been going around for
a couple of years in schools and restaurants. The way food regulation works is that schools are
now serving more fruits and vegetables than carbs or meat. There are several people that agree with
foodregulation in schools and restaurants, but others have different opinions. I believe that food
regulation is wrong, I think so because a high schooler needs a certain amount of calories to stay
healthy, and some kids do not have parents that will provide food for them when they get home.
Another big reason I refute with it also is because there are hundreds... Show more content on

At this school they fingerprint the students so they can monitor their diet. We will also be able
to monitor what children are buying to make sure they are eating a healthy diet. (Olson) In that
quote Olson writes about how the school is going to an extent where they are monitoring what
kids buy now. They did not only take away our freedom of what we can eat, but they took away
our freedom on what and what not we can buy. Washington Puyallup School District spent
$38,695 on devices that would map the veins in a student s palm. (Olson) Schools are using over
$30,000 in technology that can keep up with a student s diet. Why not spend that on technology
that can be used to further knowledge the children. The money could be used in a physical

Sport Injuries
Injuries are a crucial issue throughout the sports world and affect most players futures. Athletes are
concerned of getting severely hurt or having their lives be at risk. Many players have the chance to
prevent their injuries, but yet they never do. Families must discuss with the athlete about whether it
is safe and enforce the rules to stop injuries such as concussions. More protection could also be
worn to prevent broken bones or worse and also stretching to strengthen muscles. Injuries have
increased a tremendous amount throughout the years because many players have stopped wearing

Many families do fear getting a concussion which is why contact sports have less participants,
although modern protection is specially made to reduce injuries. One way to solve the issue is
to explain to parents that it is the kids decision because it is their life and if the kid wants to play
football, than they should be able to with the exception of whether the guardian can afford it.
Parents must also take into account why their child wants to play football. Is it for their fun or
for the fun of the parent (UWIRE 1)? Rules should also be enforced which causes players to
think about their actions and if they do hurt a player, there is a consequence. In addition, parents
do have somewhat of a say and can have a discussion about the child s decision, but, it is also what
the child wants to do and like UWIRE stated, it s for the kids

Cultural Relativism In The Euthyphro
Cultural relativism is the attitude that an individual s principles and customs should not be
judged by others in terms that every individual has different backgrounds and beliefs. No culture
is superior to any other culture as they all have different laws, or morals which they believe to
be right or wrong. Everyone should be equal based on their race, gender, religion, and values. All
cultures are adapted to what is right or wrong/good or bad based on their society and what they re
taught growing up. This varies from places and time frames. In a society at one time, something
could be right, but in that same society at a different time frame it could be wrong. All these beliefs
are based on an individual within their social order. What one culturefinds moral, is something that
a different community may find immoral, but it is not right to judge either of them, for this was
based on where and how they were raised and what they ve developed to support. The way people
eat, work, or even speak is all based on their humanity. There is no universal standard of morality

Capitalism And Neoliberalism
Throughout history, the concept of politics has reduced through many centuries. Since the
beginning of time the implementation of governance has been a recurring question. Globally, there
are different ideologies and political systems that our citizens must follow. One major concept from
the the ideology Neoliberalism is Globalization which impacts our society in ways that many do not
see. Another ideology that affects our society is the concept of Capitalism. All aspects of Politics
affects the role and nature of the state as we know it today. Neoliberalism is an ideology that
express a means for a free market economy. A free market economy is an economy that those
who have access to, can take part in. As stated before, Globalization is a subheading of
Neoliberalism. The concept of globalization is to unify the globe into one, so that society can
run smoother. Globalization, comes with the concept of a global village. The three components
of this village are an open market, society, and technology. An open market is the free movement
of goods and services. This feature of the village allows for new ideas and creations to be
introduced to our society. An open society is the collapsing of national boundaries with the free
movement of people. The free movement of people brings on new nationalities and languages
which makes us very diverse. Lastly, open technology is that anyone can use the free market. This
concept of the village gives those who can, access to the free

The French Revolution And The Revolution
Analysis
The French Revolution was such an important time history. Not only was it a massacre with many
lives being lost, including that of Queen Marie Antoinette and her husband King Louis XVI, it was
also a time of great political turmoil which would turn man against man that being the case of
Edmond Burke and Thomas Paine. Edmond Burke a traditionalist who believed the people should
be loyal to the king against his former friend, Thomas Paine a free thinker who believed in order
for things to improve one has to have some sort of change. In a time where it seemed as though
things changed over night the only question is which political party would be left standing? In the
following paper, I will attempt to analyze Edmund Burke s Reflections on the Revolution in France
against Thomas Paine s Right of man and state the difference between the two. But before any
analysis can be made I must first discuss in further detail the French Revolution.
The French Revolution first started in 1789, commoners were becoming upset with the lack of
voice they had within the French Parliament. Although, they made up the majority of the French
population, they always lost votes in a two to one landslide against the nobles and the aristocrats.
Not only were they not having a voice, but they were also being forced to pay taxes for wars that
lasted years, and the country was near bankruptcy, commoners could no longer look to their king
for help. King Louis XVI and Queen Marie Antoinette lived a

The Essence Of Being A Leader
3Focus on the essence of being a leader
Being a leader is not a position you gain; it s not about having a special title or a specific role
within an organisation. Being a leader is about behaviour and actions. You can be a leader even
if you aren t at a senior level at an organisation and you can find examples of people who call
themselves leaders because of their position of power, but who in fact act more like bosses.
Whatever you do, always remember the essence of being a leader: sharing your vision with people
and inspiring them to follow your cause.
Examine different leaders, listen to them sharing their wisdom and discover the characteristics,
skills and traits that make them successful at what they do. You can find many resources on
leadership and being a leader. One great way is to watch interviews. For example, the YouTube
clip below has Richard Branson sharing his views on the essential quality of a leader:
Use the information and experience to develop your own leadership style and strategy. Identify
your strengths and weaknesses as a leader, utilising them as part of your chosen style. By
understanding your own behaviour and how it influences your abilities as a leader, you can
continue developing your skills. But more important is how it can help you realise how its your
behaviour that defines your success as a leader, not your place within an organisation s hierarchy.
You can t be complacent and expect people the look up to you as a leader when you gain a

positive for indole production presenting the color red, and positive for motility. Sulfur reduction is
a test used to differentiate enteric bacteria. The indole production test differentiates
Enterobacteriaceae. For testing a wide variety of organisms the motility test is used. The TSI

The Lost Boys Metaphors
Teenagers as metaphors for Vampires
Sleep all day. Party all night. Never grow old. Never die. It s fun to be a vampire. (The Lost
Boys, 1987). The tagline to Joel Schumacher s 1987 film, The Lost Boys, glorifies the allure of
being a member of the undead. The transformation into a teenager, or vampire, are both marked by a
turbulent time of sexual development, peer pressure, and is an important phase in the formation of
their identity. In literature, and in film, the vampire can be perceived as the perfect metaphor for a
teenager due to the parallel nature that they both share and the hardships they endure.
One of the biggest changes during adolescence is that of sexual development, and young adults are

Wearing dark sunglasses soon becomes part of his bad boy image, and his mother starts to

Another instance where rebellion occurs, is when the teenage vampires kill the security guard

The story of Prometheus shows us that a struggle for power can have good or bad consequences.
An element in the myth of Prometheus is the Origins of Life . A quote to support this element is

and was able to destroy as well as create. This quote is related because with fire man was advance
however, fire had downfalls. Prometheus also helped humans but for that he had to play the

Genetically Modified Organisms ( Gmo ) Essay
Agriculture has existed for thousands of years and has been able to support the lives of many
individuals through providing consumer goods. These consumer good are constantly being bought
and sold between various countries in order to sustain life on earth. Although past agricultural
methods were seen as natural from farmers working out in the field and growing food sustainably,
the drive for economic gain that society possessed allowed for many corporations such as Monsanto
to develop. The Monsanto Corporation is located in St. Louis Missouri and is known as an
American multinational agrochemical and agriculture biotechnology corporation. (Monsanto
Company, 2015). Monsanto was founded in 1901 and began to create herbicides between 1945
and 1976. With the success of the herbicide creations, Monsanto then began to develop plants
that contained biotechnology traits known as genetically modified organisms (GMO) or
genetically modified (GM) crops (Monsanto Company, 2015). These GM crops are used for
agricultural purposes into which one or several genes coding for desirable traits have been
inserted through the process of genetic engineering (Qaim, 2009, p.1). The use and expansion of
GM crops continues to rise with the United States being one of the world s largest leading
producers (GMO compass, 2007). GM crops were introduced into society because many believed
that this new technology would be able to improve the quality of the worlds food supply (Conner
et al, 2003).

A structure depends on the organization s objectives and strategy. In a very centralized structure,
the highest layer of management has most of the choice creating power and has tight management
over departments and divisions. In a much suburbanized structure, the choice creating power is
distributed and also the departments and divisions could have totally different degrees of
independence. Wal mart s structure is built upon its risk management, safety and claims
management process. Google Inc. has gained much attention and acclaim for its unusual
organizational culture, which is designed to establish loyalty and creativity. Although both Google
and Wal mart focuses on risk managementand they specialized on two different factors. Google
focus more on creativity, loyalty and keeping its employees happy. Wal mart tends to help
customers by saving money, claims and promoting within the company. The Difference of
Organizational Structure between Google and Wal mart
Since Google Inc. is known for serving its employee s and keeping them happy while demonstration
outstanding employee support, it safe to consider its motivation theory could be based on Maslow

the benefits they receive including food, gym and bus to get to work. The slide at work is another
form of motivation from a social context or perspective. It gives something for the employees to

The Year 1000 By Robert Lacey And Danny Danziger
The Year 1000 by Robert Lacey and Danny Danziger offers a delightful, often astonishing portrait
of everyday life in Anglo Saxon England in the year 1000. This very informative book, describes
what life was like that the turn of the first millennium. The Anglo Saxons, a practical, self
contained, fervently superstitious people, were 99% illiterate, yet their language would become
their most widespread legacy. Compared to modern day times, people are almost the opposite from
the Anglo Saxons. There are many qualities that are the same, but also different when comparing
the Year 1000 to the modern era of the 21st century. Within this paper, it will discuss about how the
community, lifestyle, advances in technology, politics, and religion were formed in the Year 1000.
It will also compare and constrast the Year 1000 to the Paleolithicand Neolithicera.
The Paleolithic Era (or Old Stone Age) is a period of prehistory from about 2.6 million years ago
to around 10000 years ago . There are very few subjects that are more controversial than the
origins of the human species. During the Ice Age, a race of people known as the Neanderthals
inhabited the fringes of the European ice pack . Because their remains were discovered in
Neanderthal in Germany, these people were known as Neanderthals. Neanderthals were slightly
different then Homo sapiens. They were heavier, stronger, and hairier then the Homo sapiens .The
Neanderthals lived a very simple life. They were hunter/gathers, and

The Summer Ma Program For Theatre Educators
Before I had applied for the Summer MA program for theatre educators, I knew my teaching of
dramaturgy was lacking. I had no systematic way of analyzing a script and being able to pull out
the important aspects of the author s intentions. Many aspects of theatre history and dramatic
interpretation had been left out of my education. After classes my appetite had been wetted, I
purchased a number of books to continue my education over the winter break, one of the books
was History of the Theatre10th Edition by Oscar G. Brockett and Franklin J. Hildy. Even though
an overview of some much history it has lead me to want to teach so much deeper lessons to my
students. After the eye opening dramaturgy classes my mind has been washed with ideas on
how to proceed, so much information had been given to us, I find it hard to concentrate on a
single area. I truly look forward to teaching this year and these lessons. My first desire is to come
at this with the outcome in mind, I had wanted to compete in the state UIL design competition
since becoming a theatre teacher but wasn t sure where to begin. I had previously decided to
turn my second year classes into the more theory related area of the field of study, but wasn t
sure how to proceed. I knew I wanted to focus more on the higher of Bloom s domains of learning,
specifically creating. With the final goal in mind of competing in UIL design completion, I started

The Epidemic Of Underage Drinking
Teenage Alcoholism
Underage drinking has become an immense problem in the U.S. There are many reasons that
lead kids under the age of twenty one to drink. CNN states that Only a sip early on in life could
be a problem later on in life (CNN News). This quote states that having that one drink as an
underage drinker won t just affect you then, but it will affect your life later on. Our country has
come to realize that we have a problem with teenage alcoholism; schools inform their students about
this problem, the news talks about tragic events that have happened involving teenagers under the

Drinking alcohol when you re a teen develops brain problems, your brain is developing until

(Underage Drinking). Teenagers happen to be more vulnerable to becoming addicted to alcohol
because of the pleasure center in the brain. Drinking relaxes you and releases endorphins
throughout the body causing teens to easily get addicted. Drinking alcohol causes you to make
poor decisions which results in risky behavior. For example, Alcohol increases the risks for
physical and sexual assault. Drinking puts you more at a risk to be a victim of assault or even
commit it. Alcohol doesn t just make the risks for assault increase, it also ruins your life. Alcohol
ruins relationships between people who care about you. I have destroyed two relationships

The 20th century was an era of innovation and notable achievements in man s pursuit to break the
bonds of earth s gravity. In this span of time man went from struggling to make human flight a
reality to setting foot on the surface of the moon. The initial endeavor, to launch mankind beyond
the stratosphere, began mid way through the century with 2 nations competing for the right to plant
their flag on the surface of the moon. The lunar space race gave birth to national aerospace
organizations, such as NASA, and inspired dreamers all over the globe for generations. NASA and

Numerous players have begun to materialize in the field of private space travel. This emerging
market could be the key to success as NASA now set its sights, beyond the moon, towards
neighboring planets. Government outsourcing to the private sector isn t a novel idea; however, in
this case innovations in engineering and manufacturing have introduced new opportunities for
governments and companies alike. SpaceX is one private company vying for an opportunity to
assume the task of delivering astronauts and supplies to the ISS. SpaceX is currently at the
forefront of lowering the cost of space travel by developing reusable rocket technology. Mike
Chafkin, senior writer at INC magazine, reports SpaceX charges $50 million to launch a satellite,
less than half the going rate. (83). Such a substantial reduction in overall cost would enable
organizations like NASA to reorganize spending towards the research and development of new
studies and technologies. Private enterprise may not lead the way to discovering new celestial
bodies but independent companies excel at improving efficiency and value. Companies competing
for government contracts have developed cost effective techniques and materials to edge out the
opposition. James Clay Moltz, professor at the Naval Postgraduate School, points out that private
companies require fewer workplace

The Unexamined Life Is Not Worth Living Analysis
In order to talk about Socrates claim that the unexamined life is not worth living a person first has
to understand the context that it was used in. In the Apology, Socrates used that phrase when he
was in trial for corrupting the youth. The court was allowing him to counter their punishment of
death and suggest a different punishment. After ruling out all other forms of punishment, Socrates
says this and he is therefore, sentenced to death. Both the author of the Apology, Plato, and Socrates
became renowned philosophers of their time. A more current philosopher is John Dewey, he is
known for his book Democracy and Education. In this book, Dewey talks about how philosophyis
directly and indirectly related to education. The ambiguity of... Show more content on

I would never say that these people s lives aren t worth living, if anything, we should strive to be
more like them in the way that they act. In my opinion it doesn t matter how much you examine
your life or if you even examine it all, what I think matters in the end is how happy a person is. If
they are content with their life without questioning everything, then that is fine. In this world,
not everyone has the privilege to examine their life. It is not a necessity to examine your life. It
is something that very few people can do, and I think that if a person is able to do it, then they
should. They might discover something new, they might learn something. It could be like turning
on a light for some, while for others, it might only make the light a little brighter. I also realize
that there are some subjects that a person might not want to thoroughly examine. Whether the
subject is religion or science, some people are perfectly content with what they know and have
no desire to learn more about the particular subject. Do I think that their life isn t worth living
because they are happy with what they know? No I do not, I think that their life is still worth

Theme Of The Movie And To Kill A Mockingbird
Often times, book lovers are brought down by the awful films inspired by novels they enjoy. When
compared to their book, the movies frequently do not portray the right concepts and details the
author had intended. Therefore, most viewers are disappointed with the film adaptation. To Kill a
Mockingbird is no exception for some people, however, I subjectively feel that the novelwritten by
Harper Lee and the filmdirected by Robert Mulligan compliment each other. The portrayed
elements of the town of Maycomb, Tom Robinson s character, and the scene of the trail resemble
relatively close between the novel and film of To Kill a Mockingbird. The setting of the story, a
small southern town known as Maycomb, is perceived differently by various people upon reading
the text. While I read the novel, the town of Maycomb came to life in my mind from my own
perception of details. The town resembled a downtown square with never ending storefronts that
were adjacent to one another. Parking spots lined the sidewalk, causing drivers to parallel park
against the curb. Small grassy fields across the streets had trees and benches for passing leisure
time. In the text, Harper Lee described Maycomb through the perspective of the children the night
they followed Atticus. She wrote, The south side of the square was deserted. Giant monkey puzzle
bushes bristled on each corner, and between them an iron hitching rail glistened under the street
lights. A light shone in the county toilet, otherwise

Transfer Pricing--Market-Based vs. Cost-Based
Introduction
Transfer pricing is one of the key factors of a management control system, which helps a company
to achieve its goals, including profit maximization and tax minimization.
There are several methods of setting transfer prices among profit centers within the same
organization. Each profit center tries to set transfer prices which maximize their own profit. The
buying and selling profit centers profits are largely affected by transfer prices. For example, when
a high transfer price is charged, the selling division s profits increase, while the buying division s
costs increase. So, transfer pricing should be established on a reasonable and objective basis, which
should maximize the companywide profit, rather than being based on ... Show more content on

The company should consider whether the transfer pricing method has simplicity and transparency,
which provide objective performance measurements for division managers. With regard to
simplicity and transparency, it is best for the company to set market based transfer pricing because
this is more objective than cost based transfer pricing. In particular, when companies use cost based
transfer pricing, it is difficult to evaluate division performance unless the transfer prices exceed full
costs.
Generally, a company can save more money and effort through internal sales compared with
external sales, due to the absence of customer credit checking or collecting. In addition, market
based transfer prices contribute to the evaluation of the economic viability and profitability of
profit centers individually. Market based transfer pricing portrays the real market supply and
demand more clearly because, when supply exceeds demand, market prices may decrease, so
market based transfer prices decrease as well.
However, market based transfer pricing has several disadvantages. You cannot use the market
based transfer pricing method when there is no market price in the market. For example, when the
selling division makes specially customized products for the buying division, you cannot get a
market price for the products. Similarly, in the case of a pharmaceutical company selling patent
protected drugs, you cannot get an appropriate market price for

Nationalism cannot only aggravate ethnic relations within the state, but it can also spill over

Introduction Nationalism has become a major part of the Chinese Communist Party s agenda to
success and continued rule as it struggles to keep its legitimacy in China. Nationalism to an extent
also shapes China s international relations. This essay will first define what nationalism means for

changes and modernises. Nationalism can ...refer to any behaviour designed to restore, maintain, or

two main proposals to understanding nationalism. In the first, nationalism was an aspect of national

There are factors that can perhaps affect organic growth. If a business is aiming for rapid
expansion it may not find organic growth worthwhile. Rapid expansion could mean that a company
is looking to get into the market with a view of making big profits. This would require an injection
of outside finance to support rapid growth. On the contrary to organic growth is inorganic growth.
Inorganic growth is much more
dynamic and responsive, involves less time as compared to organic and more finance. Inorganic
growths strategies like mergers, acquisition, spinoffs and takeovers are regarded as important
factors that help companies expand, cut competition, increase customer base, employ new
technology and increase in size fairly quickly. The company results in achieving substantial growth
in good time. Tesco has taken 45 acquisitions though taking stakes in 20 companies and has 30

Favorite Homework
Everyone s Least Favorite Chore A list of chores is pinned to the refrigerator to complete before
my mother gets home from work. So far, I have vacuumed the carpet, cleaned my room, and swept
the floor, but the most excruciating chore remains: washing the dishes. Washing the dishes would
be quick and easy if I could stick the filthy dishes in the dishwasher, but it is broken. Instead, the
mountain of foodcovered dishes will have to be scrubbed clean by hand. I will have to prepare the
supplies, scrape off the remaining food, rinse and dry the dishes, and put them back in the
cupboards and drawers. Washing the dishes is a messy and burdensome process every
household must suffer through, unless they want to eat off of paper plates for the rest of their
lives. To begin the dishwashing process, I dig out the supplies. Mentally preparing myself, I
grab the dish soap, drain plug, towel, and sponge. After I have all of my supplies on the counter,
I reach under the heaping pile of slimy plates, pans, pots, silverware, and glasses to place the
drain plug in the sink. Next, I fill the sink with hot water to soften the dried food clinging to the
dishes. I attempt to not make the water too hot, but usually I fail and nearly burn off my fingertips.
Once the water is at an acceptable temperature, I squirt heaps dish soap into the running water until
bubbles start to foam over the edge of the sink. To have the slightest bit of enjoyment in the
otherwise grueling process, I scoop

Negative And Negative Effects Of Pollination
Pollination is responsible for keeping humans alive. But many underestimate what pollination does
for them, and how complex it is. There are mainly two types of cross pollination and that is
generalist pollination, where different species of pollinators go to the same flower, and specialist
pollination, where a species of flowerrelies on a single specie of a pollinator. Flowers have
adapted to the needs of pollinators, but specialized flowers have adapted to suit the single specie
pollinator that comes to them. But because the flower only has this specie of pollinator, it can have
both a negative and positive effect on the plant and pollinator. Plants and pollinators have a
relationship that helps keep ecosystems alive, so they are very... Show more content on

Another positive to selective pollination is that the animals that pollinate the plant will have a food
source that they will be able to get to, and if the animal spreads the pollen and increases the range
of the plant, the animals would have more food sources. When a flower is specialized, it has
opportunities to increase diversification rate, the range of pollen, and range of seed dispersal
(Armbruster, 2014). Angiosperms can also change which animal it specializes for (Niet et al.,
2014). The Costus is a plant that will permanently switch from a bee pollinator to a hummingbird
because hummingbirds can transfer pollen more efficiently (Niet et al., 2014). Angiosperms
usually specialize in a pollinator because it will benefit them, but it also benefits the pollinator
because the flower can give the pollinator rewards for coming, but sometimes specializing is not
a good thing. Even though selective pollination can be good, it also has some negative effects.
Sometimes, selective pollination can lead to reproductive isolation (Armbruster, 2014). This
causes the species of plant to have to self pollinate, which lowers genetic diversity and sometimes
range. It can also affect the pollinator because they have to find another food source, and if they
don t, the pollinators can start dying off. Or if the species pollinator starts to die off,

Analysis Of Accidental Death Of An Anarchist
In Accidental Death of an Anarchist by Dario Fo, farce is prevalent throughout the play. Fo
sought to recreate traditional farce and the comedic effect it creates. In Accidental Death of an
Anarchist, Fo succeeded in creating Didactic Farce, combining comedic values of traditional
farce with a rage of injustice. Fo believed farce to be the most effective way to provoke thought
about Pinelli s death. Didactic farce portrays politics and events of the time in a comedic way. The
combination of farcical elements such as Slapstick humor and Commedia Dell arte and the use of
the alienation effect create a didactic play, underlying the corruption in Italy revolving around the
death of Pinelli.
Farce creates a humorous play where characters become involved involuntarily. Farcical elements
include sight gags, physical comedy, and general absurdity. Critics often dislike farce as it is
believed to be a low form of entertainment. The Maniac is primarily Fo s means of presenting
farce in the play. At the start of the play, the Maniac is speaking with Bertozzo in his office about
the different kinds of law when he exclaims, international law, jurisprudence, human rights
legislation, common law, ecclesiastical law, the offside law, LA Law, mother in law (7). The
Maniac begins by saying laws that the people would know. He then talks about the offside law
which is a rule in soccer, LA Law which is an American show, and finally mother in law which is
a family member. These allusions create humor the audience would recognize and build the
Maniac s character as he uses farce to convey information. Later in the play, the journalist is

exclaims, I ll change character (55). He proceeds to change clothes, wearing a false mustache and
a black eye patch. This is situational irony as the audience knows of the Maniac s ability to
change character, while for those involved, this is the first time. His new appearance creates
humor as his outfit is absurd and later leads to an exchange with the investigator. Farce also
includes slapstick or physical comedy to further specific points while providing humor. While still

The Rise Of The Islamic Empire
From its beginnings in Arabia, till the time it reached its peak of power, the Islamic Empire was
extremely proficient at expanding their influence. Islam reached from Spain to India and had a
huge impact on people all across the known world. Their success in expansion was due their use of
tactics and methods to assist them in spreading their control. The spread of Islamwas so successful
because their faith made them vicious warriors, and their ideas were attractive to other peoples,
making it easy for them to assimilate to the Umma. The Islamic faith was successful in attracting
new people to their way of life. They were also able to use their strong armies to their advantage
as well as their image of fear to control many people. To help further expand their reach, the
Muslims used tolerance to gain the interest of monotheists and other people in their religion. The
Muslims strong, faith driven warriors were instrumental in expanding their empire and sustaining
the peace. The element of fear also helped control the conquered peoples as non Muslims were
given few options. Those who were taken over by the Muslimarmies had to choose to convert, pay
a poll tax and obey, or be killed and have your children enslaved (Doc 1). People were likely to
submit to the Islamic forces because of the possible consequences. Thus the Muslims were able to
solidify their rule and move quickly on to the next target. The Islamic armies that swept across
Europe, North Africa and Asia were

Female Sexuality And The Paradox Of Sexual Freedom By...
Freedom, opportunities, and information are some features of this modern society. Clearly,
humans are now having a very different life compared to the past. Along with this well
developed world, people get more chances to express how they think, do what they want, and
love who they love. Especially young people, they become more independent and are capable of
living their own lives. However, while society provides people a lot of benefits, it actually makes
their lives even more complex at the same time by leaving them pressures and confusions of who
they really are. In her essay, Selections from Hard to Get:Twenty Something Women and the
Paradox of Sexual Freedom, Leslie Bell mentions that while in this new in between developmental
period American twenty something women have more freedom and opportunities about their
sexual lives than previous generations, they are struggling with the paradoxes of their relationships
and desires. Bell suggests that social expectations and culture guidelines, which are conventions of
femalesexuality and stereotypes of being a good girl, prevent these young women from pursuing
their sexual desires and limiting their relationships with men. However, even these women have
chosen the way they live and what kind of sexual life they want in order to be bad girls to break
those old rules, they ended with losing their identities. In general, female sexuality is impacted
more by establishing a women s identity rather than clinging on

The Medium Of Art By Leonardo Da Vinci s Mona Lisa
Of all the creative mediums in existence, of which there are a plethora to discover, the medium of
Art, although recognized by most as a legitimate creative medium, is one of the most controversial.
However, in the subject of practical artwork, sculptures, paintings, and performance artworks, the
idea of a definitive artwork is almost non existent. Although there are artworks that exist, such as
Leonardo da Vinci s Mona Lisa, which are known seemingly universally (Torov, 2011), there are
few critics or viewers who can explain just what exactly constitutes it as a good artwork. This
investigation appears to become universal to many other artworks, an argument that arises between
technical mastery, motives, and meaning, if any at all. That is to say that interpretation battles
against visual astonishment. However, although the visuals are by far the most striking part of
almost any artwork, the first thing that most look for beyond the visual elements is the story being
told within the visuals. It is for this reason that many war time, or significant event paintings are
remembered; it s well known, and is a story that is being told constantly through all mediums,
within the realm of out, and outside that same realm. Untitled (Perfect Lovers) by Felix Gonzalez
Torres Felix Gonzlaez Torres is known throughout the art world as being one of those most creative
and unique artist, particularly for his instalment artworks, minimalistic style and the ability to create

Hp Carburetor Research Paper
How to Rebuild a Tecumseh 10 hp Carburetor Even the highest quality carburetors can wear out
for various reasons. The key is to learn to recognize the signs of a struggling carburetor before it
completely goes out and stops working altogether. Some initial signs that the carburetor might
need some maintenance are when the engine begins to hesitate or stall. Another clear sign that
the machine might be in trouble is if it has a hard time starting, or if it starts with a cloud of
black smoke. Fortunately for users of the Tecumseh 10 hp Carburetor, rebuilding it is really easy
when following a few simple steps. Common Problems to Look For Although there is a wide
range of problems that can cause a carburetor to malfunction, some are more common than others
and therefore should be checked first to eliminate unnecessary work or the additional expense of
purchasing parts that are not needed. For example, if a carburetor is having issues due to
flooding simply remove the float and see if a new one is needed. Usually, if there is a problem
with the overall function of a carburetor, it will need to be completely removed to fix the problem.
Fortunately, this is an easy task. Gathering Tools... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some of the tools required are a standard ratchet set to un bolt the carburetor, both flat head and
Philips screwdrivers, and maybe even a hex. In addition to those, regular and needle nose pliers,
screwdrivers of varying sizes and possibly some small drill bits could become useful during the
process. A needle valve, gaskets and floaters are also part of the required set up when rebuilding a
carburetor; however, there is a kit available on the market specifically for rebuilding Tecumseh
Carburetors which greatly simplifies the

Economic Prosperity During The Soviet Union
Economic prosperity was seen between the years of 1965 and 1985, however the division between
Eastern and Western Europe still remained. Also, the disparities in prosperity remained as well.
One of the countries that seen major political developments was the Soviet Union. The years of
change seemed rather unlikely between 1964 and 1982 as Leonid Brezhnevbecame the man in
charge. As his slogan was no experimentation he became the head of the state and the communist
party in 1964. Even though he was optimistic and calm, the Brezhnev Doctrine, which stated that
the Soviet Unionhad the right to intervene if socialism was a threatened in another state, led to
Soviet Union troops being deployed in Czechoslovakia in 1968. The dГ©tente allowed... Show

Another problem for the Soviet s was that a series of droughts, heavy rains, and early frosts
forced the Soviet s to buy grains from the West, particularly the United States. Nonetheless, by
the 1970s, a ruling system that depended on patronage as a major avenue of advancement was
created by the Soviet s. Ten years later the system did not work as a declining economy led to an
increase in mortality rates, a surge in alcoholism, and a deterioration in working conditions. Within
the Communist Party there was a group of individuals who understood the real condition of the
Soviet Union. Yuri Andropov was a member of this group who understood the condition of the
Soviet Union, however with his deteriorating health, party leaders chose Gorbachev as the Party
Secretary in 1985. His appointing of Gorbachev, allowed for a new era to begin.
Another country that seen major political developments was the Eastern Europe. The attempt for the
Poles and the Hungarians to gain freedom from Soviet domination in 1956 only seen problems. As
Moscow could maintain control over its satellites in Eastern Europe by granting them leeway to
adopt domestic policies appropriate to these conditions, the Soviet leaders began to recognize this
fact. To make socialism more acceptable to their subject populations, as a result Eastern European
Communist leaders adopted reform programs. Continued

Telomerase Synthesis
There are several risks associated with this project. The first is the failure of absorption of the
compound into the cell plates. As the pure compounds lack the delivery mechanisms found in on
the market drugs, it is difficult to assess the true absorption of the compound. In order to mitigate
this risk, the project will utilize solvents such as Dimethyl Sulfoxide (DMSO), a solvent which
dissolves moth polar and nonpolar compounds, and is commonly used as an organic solvent. A
second risk is unanticipated cytotoxicity effects, despite FDA approval for candidate compounds.
To avoid this risk, as is standard in pharmacological studies, this project will evaluate various
concentrations of the compounds so both ED50 (effective concentration) and TD50 (mean toxic
concentration) will be evaluated. Finally, the project might succeed at telomerase inhibition, but
fail to effect cancergrowth rates, as certain cancers are not reliant on telomerase upregulation. It is
for this reason, that both metrics will be measured and more than one cell line will be used (a fact

Following experimentation approval and funding, the two main key dates are the initial
experimental setup and the completion of experimentation, and along with it, the evaluation of
results. Prior to the initial setup, materials must be obtained from online chemical suppliers, a
process that can take many weeks. After all the materials are obtained, and proper training in the
local laboratory environment is conducted, the cell plates will be set up and exposed to the
candidate compounds. Over the course of the experiment, progress will be documented both
qualitatively and quantitatively; TRAP assays and flow cytometry will be utilized to measure cell
response, and phase contrast microscopy will be used to document cell plate transformations.
Finally, following the end of experimentation results will be evaluated, thus concluding the

choices made by executives at WorldCom led to the ultimate demise of the company as it was

In this time Cooper was never thanked for her effort to maintain ethical business practices and to
report inappropriate actions. Cooper has since moved on and left the company. WorldCom
acquired Arthur Andersen as the independent external auditing for the company. As WorldCom
grew after the merger with MCI, Andersen began to invoice less than they should have. The
charges were defended as an opportunity to prolong business with WorldCom. (Kaplan and
Kiron, 2007). This is an immediate red flag for a company. Where were the ethical practices of
the independent auditor? If the auditor has no ethics, how can one possibly be assured that the
company is performing its intended function appropriately? The board of directors should have
immediately been informed of Andersen s practices and made a decision to confront Andersen s
practices and possibly obtain new independent auditors. The Board of non Directors WorldCom
s board of directors was comprised mostly of former owners, officers, or directors of companies
acquired by WorldCom (Kaplan and Kiron, 2007 p. 10). The Board and its Committees did not
function in a way that made it likely that they would notice red flags. The outside Directors had
little or no involvement in the Company s business other than through attendance at Board
meetings. Nearly all of the Directors were legacies of companies that WorldCom, under Ebbers
leadership, had acquired. They had ceded leadership to Ebbers when their

Okonkwo Falling Apart
I always judge a book starting from its cover. And I could find nothing fancy to say about this one.
When I was informed that I should read four boring novels in one month, I joked around, Yeah, I m
falling apart indeed.
Okonkwo was a wealthy and respected warrior of the Umuofia clan, a lower Nigerian tribe that is
a part of a consortium of nine connected villages. He is haunted by his cowardly father who died
in shame and left many debts for him to cover. However, Okonkwo did not narrow down his path
for the horrible things his father had done, but instead took a important position in the collective
community and was highly valued.
He had his own farm and grow his own yams, had separate little huts for his three wives, a son

But in vain, he constantly beats up his wives and kids. For lame reasons like forgot to make
dinner or killed a leaf to wipe the table. Often there were no reason, or because he felt like it. He
didn t like to be thought weak, so he had to make that impression by showing his anger, his
toughness. Which is always a mistake.
He isn t a dreadful man or a hard hearted villain. When the village elders decided they should have
Ikemefuna, the lad from another tribe who Okonkwo treats as a son, killed, Okonkwo was shocked,
disturbed but couldn t stand being thought weak, so he killed Ikemefuna with his own hands,
burying any dints of regret or solitude to himself.
Not long after, he accidently killed a member of the community and was sent away to live with his
mother s tribe for seven years as a cruel punishment. All his dreams broke down into fragments of
glass, which hurts to step upon. However, he was not the kind to give up. Even after his only son
betrayed him with the Christians, he didn t fall apart. He held things tightly together and stubbornly
waited the moment of his

Book Thief Effect
Don t judge a book by it s cover. Unless, of course, the cover hints at a major literary element used
throughout the entire book. The Book Thief by Markus Zusak is printed with a series of
dominoes on the cover. Simply picking up the book for the first time, a reader would not know
the meaning behind the image; but as the story unfolds, its significance and meaning is realized.
Cause and effect has a major impact on our lives. Actions all have a reaction and a consequence.
The Book Thief is an excellent example of this. When Hans helped the Jewish man in the street,
he was viewed as a Jew lover which resulted in fear that his house would be searched for hidden
Jews. Because of the fear, Max was forced to leave for all their safety. When... Show more content

What Constitutes An Artifact Of Empire
What constitutes an artifact of empire
Structures that memorialize the nation s imperial gains and losses
Introduction
Public monuments and literature share a lot in common. At first sight, it might be difficult to relate
one to the other. However, deeply embedded in them they share a motif: an imagined community.
They embrace a sense of belonging; they represent a nation or an empire.
It is physically impossible for a person to meet every one of his fellow nationals; time and space
prevents it. So how can that person know that there are actually millions like him inside a given
country s borders? By representation. That representation can come in different ways. Two of them
are memorials and literature.
More so, the imagined community ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Dracula depicts London as the brain of the British Empire, a centre that could be invaded by
contamination and disease. In this way, Dracula was used to ignite fears among the British
people. If compared to the over use of terrorism threats by George W. Bush and other political
figures, leading powers and empires feed off fears. Fearful population usually accept drastic
measures to continue their domination, and Dracula is a figure of that: how fear was used to
continue the domination of the British Empire. As with terrorism, Dracula is an external threat, an
imagined enemy whose promise is to destroy an empire. Dracula is feared economically in a
period where capitalism was emerging and where dominance over colonies was of utmost
importance. DraculaВґs voyage to the west, to London not only the capital of the British Empire
but the capital of the financial world , threatens to alter economic power balances. This can be seen
today in London, for example, with the threat of the Greek economic crisis. Economic fear still

  • 2. An Age Of Informational Starvation We are living in an age of informational starvation. People are seeking for something that is attractive and glowing to see on their screens. Advertisers found that possibility as an opportunity to shine and they had created many different works that promote their products. However, it is possible to stop on one commercial, which is called Cristiano Ronaldo vs. Rafael Nadal, which is the commercial by Nike, to understand the way they appeal to the audience. First of all, like any other piece of art, the narrator creates the specific theme that addresses the human eye. That theme provokes a specific response in human mind, and their thinking provokes the profit if the advertiser was successful. However, the ethos of the current commercial is obvious Nike Company is one of the leading industries that deliver sports equipment. Nike represents one of the main players in the sports equipment market. They create rules, and they create trends. Their credibility is outstanding due to the fact that they are constantly doing different market examinations that concentrate on trend analysis. That is their profit that is why their researches show them evident details about marketing trends and they have enough money to adjust. Speaking of the logos of the article, it is important to mention that this commercial used the paradox as the rhetorical device so that it is complex to talk about the logical flow of arguments that they present. Their paradoxical choice figures, their game ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Quality Management in Current Business Management and Issues Quality Management in Current Business Management Issues Objective The objective of this study is to examine quality management in business and to apply contemporary theory. Introduction The U.S. Small Business Administration reports that effective management is the key to the establishment and growth of the business and states as well that the key to successful management is examination of the marketplace environment and create employment and profit opportunities that provide the potential growth and financial viability of the business. (2009) Management, while being of primary importance is reported as an area [that] is often misunderstood and poorly implemented, primarily because people focus on the output rather than the process of management. (U.S. Small Business Administration, 2009) I. Socio Technical Systems Theory The work of Zu (2009) entitled Infrastructure and Core Quality Management Practices: How Do They Affect Quality? reports a study that sought to find a resolution to the findings in the quality management literature that were conflicting about various quality management practices, and specific to the infrastructure of quality management practices and core quality management practices that impact quality performance. • 4. Comparing A Raisin In The Sun And Death Of A Salesman What happens to a dream deferred? Is a question from Langston Hughes, A Dream Deferred asks one what happens to a forgotten dream. This idea connects two well known American plays, A Raisin in the Sun, by Lorraine Hansberry and Death of a Salesman, by Arthur Miller, in the sense that each character has a dream deferred. A dream deferred is a forgotten dream or one that has been left behind. The two father figures, Walter and Willy, share many comparisons such as having a big dream reaching for success in business, leaving them behind, and their reactions. Walter Younger and Willy Loman both have big dreams to pursue big careers in business. In A Raisin in the Sun, Walter says You see, this little liquor store we got in mind cost seventy five thousand and we figured the initial... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... . In A Raisin in the Sun, Bobo, one of Walter s business partners, says, Yessss! All of it... It s all gone... Walter has just found out here that the money he gave to Willy for the liquor store was stolen by Willy, his other business partner. The money was supposed to be deposited into a savings account for Beneatha s school, and the rest was expected to be saved for the future. This contributes to the idea of a dream deferred because this is where Walter finds out it is over for him. He no longer has the ability to invest money in the business because the money is gone. This is where Walter learns his dream is dead. Similarly, in Death of a Salesman, Howard Wagner, Willy s boss, tells Willy, I don t want you to represent us. I ve been meaning to tell you for a long time now. In this scene, Willy is fired from his job as a salesman because Howard believes he is too old and tired. This contributes to the bigger picture of Willy no longer being able to pursue the dream of being a salesman. Like Walter, Willy s dream is taken away from him and has no option but to leave it ... • 6. A Study With Immense Determination And Motivation For... I began this mini study with immense determination and motivation in hearing personal experiences from female superintendents regarding the barriers and challenges they faced along their journeys. Selfishly, I sought to better understand what I may face later down the road, as I personally aspire to be a superintendentone day. Additionally, I have always had a strong interest in challenges that marginalized groups often face. Therefore, it seemed like this topic would be natural fit. During my very first interview, I was quite nervous. Although I had mulled over my questions repeatedly and had practiced my questions with my husband, classmates, and in the mirror, I wanted to sound like a competent researcher who was authentically invested in this process. I did not want to misrepresent myself or the university. I giggled as I listened to the recording of the first interview. I kept saying good! and okay... for a conversation filler, occasionally even when the participant was still talking! During this interview, I quickly realized that my questions were out of order. While I intended to open with easier, less personal questions, I found that stalled deep conversations regarding gender barriers in the profession. Therefore, I abandoned my specific conversation order with the two other participants and let the conversationflow more freely. I believe I was stifling the responses and myself by being too rigid. While that rigidity potentially came out of fear ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

She is a Native American that has lived in a world that is different from the world her grandpa grew up in. In addition, she learned to love and appreciate nature just like her grandpa did. I can relate to her relationship with her grandpa because I have created many memories with my grandpa. My grandpa told me stories about his childhood. In Foxxy s essay she explores the relationship between identity and cultural history through physical location, family relationships, and language differences. Foxxy s grandpa helped her learn about the Cherokee people by telling her stories. My grandpa liked to tell me stories about his childhood when I was a little girl. He told me when he was a boy his family did not have much money, so he had to get a job as a paper boy to help buy groceries. He explained how he would throw the paper at the front door from his bicycle. He taught me that I have to work for the things in life that I want and to not expect a handout. Also, from the essay I learned that Foxxy s grandpa did not have to go out on the prairie with her because his stories helped her identify with her culture. For example, Foxxy stated that her grandpa was a cowboy. He was a chief. He was a Cherokee. Grandpa was a wise man (par. 14). I believe this showed that Foxxy was impacted by her grandpa because she described him as a very important man. He helped her identify her culture by telling her stories about the wild prairie deer. My grandpa is a person that I look up to and respect because he started out with nothing. He taught me values and morals. Also, when Foxxy got stuck in the bog, her grandpa did not yell or belittle her. Instead her grandpa very gracefully helped her out. This showed that her grandpa allowed her to explore her identity and culture. I can relate to this because my grandpa is very kind and patient just like Foxxy s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Food regulation is a huge topic that has been going around for a couple of years in schools and restaurants. The way food regulation works is that schools are now serving more fruits and vegetables than carbs or meat. There are several people that agree with foodregulation in schools and restaurants, but others have different opinions. I believe that food regulation is wrong, I think so because a high schooler needs a certain amount of calories to stay healthy, and some kids do not have parents that will provide food for them when they get home. • 16. Cultural Relativism In The Euthyphro Cultural relativism is the attitude that an individual s principles and customs should not be judged by others in terms that every individual has different backgrounds and beliefs. No culture is superior to any other culture as they all have different laws, or morals which they believe to be right or wrong. Everyone should be equal based on their race, gender, religion, and values. All cultures are adapted to what is right or wrong/good or bad based on their society and what they re taught growing up. This varies from places and time frames. In a society at one time, something could be right, but in that same society at a different time frame it could be wrong. All these beliefs are based on an individual within their social order. What one culturefinds moral, is something that a different community may find immoral, but it is not right to judge either of them, for this was based on where and how they were raised and what they ve developed to support. Edmond Burke a traditionalist who believed the people should be loyal to the king against his former friend, Thomas Paine a free thinker who believed in order for things to improve one has to have some sort of change. In a time where it seemed as though things changed over night the only question is which political party would be left standing? In the following paper, I will attempt to analyze Edmund Burke s Reflections on the Revolution in France against Thomas Paine s Right of man and state the difference between the two. But before any analysis can be made I must first discuss in further detail the French Revolution. The French Revolution first started in 1789, commoners were becoming upset with the lack of voice they had within the French Parliament. Although, they made up the majority of the French population, they always lost votes in a two to one landslide against the nobles and the aristocrats. The Essence Of Being A Leader 3Focus on the essence of being a leader Being a leader is not a position you gain; it s not about having a special title or a specific role within an organisation. Being a leader is about behaviour and actions. You can be a leader even if you aren t at a senior level at an organisation and you can find examples of people who call themselves leaders because of their position of power, but who in fact act more like bosses. Whatever you do, always remember the essence of being a leader: sharing your vision with people and inspiring them to follow your cause. Examine different leaders, listen to them sharing their wisdom and discover the characteristics, skills and traits that make them successful at what they do. You can find many resources on leadership and being a leader. One great way is to watch interviews. For example, the YouTube clip below has Richard Branson sharing his views on the essential quality of a leader: Use the information and experience to develop your own leadership style and strategy. Identify your strengths and weaknesses as a leader, utilising them as part of your chosen style. By understanding your own behaviour and how it influences your abilities as a leader, you can continue developing your skills. But more important is how it can help you realise how its your behaviour that defines your success as a leader, not your place within an organisation s hierarchy. These consumer good are constantly being bought and sold between various countries in order to sustain life on earth. Although past agricultural methods were seen as natural from farmers working out in the field and growing food sustainably, the drive for economic gain that society possessed allowed for many corporations such as Monsanto to develop. The Monsanto Corporation is located in St. Louis Missouri and is known as an American multinational agrochemical and agriculture biotechnology corporation. (Monsanto Company, 2015). Monsanto was founded in 1901 and began to create herbicides between 1945 and 1976. With the success of the herbicide creations, Monsanto then began to develop plants that contained biotechnology traits known as genetically modified organisms (GMO) or genetically modified (GM) crops (Monsanto Company, 2015). These GM crops are used for agricultural purposes into which one or several genes coding for desirable traits have been inserted through the process of genetic engineering (Qaim, 2009, p.1). The use and expansion of GM crops continues to rise with the United States being one of the world s largest leading producers (GMO compass, 2007). To Kill a Mockingbird is no exception for some people, however, I subjectively feel that the novelwritten by Harper Lee and the filmdirected by Robert Mulligan compliment each other. The portrayed elements of the town of Maycomb, Tom Robinson s character, and the scene of the trail resemble relatively close between the novel and film of To Kill a Mockingbird. The setting of the story, a small southern town known as Maycomb, is perceived differently by various people upon reading the text. While I read the novel, the town of Maycomb came to life in my mind from my own perception of details. The town resembled a downtown square with never ending storefronts that were adjacent to one another. Parking spots lined the sidewalk, causing drivers to parallel park against the curb. Small grassy fields across the streets had trees and benches for passing leisure time. In the text, Harper Lee described Maycomb through the perspective of the children the night they followed Atticus. She wrote, The south side of the square was deserted. The company should consider whether the transfer pricing method has simplicity and transparency, which provide objective performance measurements for division managers. With regard to simplicity and transparency, it is best for the company to set market based transfer pricing because this is more objective than cost based transfer pricing. In particular, when companies use cost based transfer pricing, it is difficult to evaluate division performance unless the transfer prices exceed full costs. Generally, a company can save more money and effort through internal sales compared with external sales, due to the absence of customer credit checking or collecting. In addition, market based transfer prices contribute to the evaluation of the economic viability and profitability of profit centers individually. Market based transfer pricing portrays the real market supply and demand more clearly because, when supply exceeds demand, market prices may decrease, so market based transfer prices decrease as well. However, market based transfer pricing has several disadvantages. You cannot use the market based transfer pricing method when there is no market price in the market. Another positive to selective pollination is that the animals that pollinate the plant will have a food source that they will be able to get to, and if the animal spreads the pollen and increases the range of the plant, the animals would have more food sources. Angiosperms can also change which animal it specializes for (Niet et al., 2014). The Costus is a plant that will permanently switch from a bee pollinator to a hummingbird because hummingbirds can transfer pollen more efficiently (Niet et al., 2014). Even though selective pollination can be good, it also has some negative effects. Sometimes, selective pollination can lead to reproductive isolation (Armbruster, 2014). This causes the species of plant to have to self pollinate, which lowers genetic diversity and sometimes range. It can also affect the pollinator because they have to find another food source, and if they don t, the pollinators can start dying off. Or if the species pollinator starts to die off, ... • 44. Analysis Of Accidental Death Of An Anarchist In Accidental Death of an Anarchist by Dario Fo, farce is prevalent throughout the play. Fo sought to recreate traditional farce and the comedic effect it creates. In Accidental Death of an Anarchist, Fo succeeded in creating Didactic Farce, combining comedic values of traditional farce with a rage of injustice. Fo believed farce to be the most effective way to provoke thought about Pinelli s death. Didactic farce portrays politics and events of the time in a comedic way. The combination of farcical elements such as Slapstick humor and Commedia Dell arte and the use of the alienation effect create a didactic play, underlying the corruption in Italy revolving around the death of Pinelli. Farce creates a humorous play where characters become involved involuntarily. Farcical elements include sight gags, physical comedy, and general absurdity. Critics often dislike farce as it is believed to be a low form of entertainment. The Maniac is primarily Fo s means of presenting farce in the play. At the start of the play, the Maniac is speaking with Bertozzo in his office about the different kinds of law when he exclaims, international law, jurisprudence, human rights legislation, common law, ecclesiastical law, the offside law, LA Law, mother in law (7). The Maniac begins by saying laws that the people would know. He then talks about the offside law which is a rule in soccer, LA Law which is an American show, and finally mother in law which is a family member. These allusions create humor the audience would recognize and build the Maniac s character as he uses farce to convey information. Later in the play, the journalist is about to arrive, and the Superintendent says she cannot see the judge. The Maniac quickly exclaims, I ll change character (55). He proceeds to change clothes, wearing a false mustache and a black eye patch. This is situational irony as the audience knows of the Maniac s ability to change character, while for those involved, this is the first time. His new appearance creates humor as his outfit is absurd and later leads to an exchange with the investigator. Farce also includes slapstick or physical comedy to further specific points while providing humor. While still acting as Mark Weeny, the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 47. The Medium Of Art By Leonardo Da Vinci s Mona Lisa Of all the creative mediums in existence, of which there are a plethora to discover, the medium of Art, although recognized by most as a legitimate creative medium, is one of the most controversial. However, in the subject of practical artwork, sculptures, paintings, and performance artworks, the idea of a definitive artwork is almost non existent. Although there are artworks that exist, such as Leonardo da Vinci s Mona Lisa, which are known seemingly universally (Torov, 2011), there are few critics or viewers who can explain just what exactly constitutes it as a good artwork. This investigation appears to become universal to many other artworks, an argument that arises between technical mastery, motives, and meaning, if any at all. That is to say that interpretation battles against visual astonishment. However, although the visuals are by far the most striking part of almost any artwork, the first thing that most look for beyond the visual elements is the story being told within the visuals. It is for this reason that many war time, or significant event paintings are remembered; it s well known, and is a story that is being told constantly through all mediums, within the realm of out, and outside that same realm. • 50. Telomerase Synthesis There are several risks associated with this project. The first is the failure of absorption of the compound into the cell plates. As the pure compounds lack the delivery mechanisms found in on the market drugs, it is difficult to assess the true absorption of the compound. In order to mitigate this risk, the project will utilize solvents such as Dimethyl Sulfoxide (DMSO), a solvent which dissolves moth polar and nonpolar compounds, and is commonly used as an organic solvent. A second risk is unanticipated cytotoxicity effects, despite FDA approval for candidate compounds. To avoid this risk, as is standard in pharmacological studies, this project will evaluate various concentrations of the compounds so both ED50 (effective concentration) and TD50 (mean toxic concentration) will be evaluated. Finally, the project might succeed at telomerase inhibition, but fail to effect cancergrowth rates, as certain cancers are not reliant on telomerase upregulation. It is for this reason, that both metrics will be measured and more than one cell line will be used (a fact accounted for in the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The charges were defended as an opportunity to prolong business with WorldCom. (Kaplan and Kiron, 2007). This is an immediate red flag for a company. When I was informed that I should read four boring novels in one month, I joked around, Yeah, I m falling apart indeed. Okonkwo was a wealthy and respected warrior of the Umuofia clan, a lower Nigerian tribe that is a part of a consortium of nine connected villages. He is haunted by his cowardly father who died in shame and left many debts for him to cover. However, Okonkwo did not narrow down his path for the horrible things his father had done, but instead took a important position in the collective community and was highly valued. At first sight, it might be difficult to relate one to the other. However, deeply embedded in them they share a motif: an imagined community. They embrace a sense of belonging; they represent a nation or an empire. It is physically impossible for a person to meet every one of his fellow nationals; time and space prevents it.
