Smash The Pig Research Paper
Meta: Get ready, as it is time to go pig smashing in the latest game from Spielo. Aptly titled
Smash the Pig, will you be able to rip the reels of this new release apart in order to win big?
Smash the Pig Review Smash the Pig is a brand new slot that brings a new feel and spin to the
casino slots genre. This slot game by Spielo is not one based on glitz, glamour, and the high life,
which seems to be the common trend of the moment. Instead, it is a game that has agricultural
roots, as it is based around life on the farmyard. Considering its odd premise, eyebrows have
certainly been raised, with many questioning the legitimacy of this new game prior to release.
Being as objective as possible, can this theme actually be made into a fun game? There is only
one way to find out! These little pigs went market Smash the Pig can be described in two words;
adorable perfection. When the game starts (which it does rather quickly I must add) your eyes
will be treated to bright colours all over the screen. It is meant to be a sunny day on the farm that
this title is themed around, with the game reflecting that rather well. The reels are centre screen as
per the norm with a Spielo title, while the background is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It matches well with the theme of the game and provides a distinct contrast against the bright
background. Under the reels, you can find a display which will tell you how many lines you are
playing and the bet per line for that spin. When that spin ends, it displays the winnings. You can
find the buttons, which you will be using to play the game, on the bottom part of the screen. They
are menu, pays, select lines, bet per line, max bet, and spin. When you win these buttons change
into double up, take score, and triple up. All in all, within Smash the Pig the user interface is
organised impressively, which allows for easy navigation and even easier

Contracts Case Study: Property
Martha Sparks
April 19, 2013
Introduction
In this case study, Barney is a client that running into an extreme case of misfortune facing several
issues that must be resolved in court. The issues will be outlined below with information to help
properly set Barney s expectations of his upcoming battle to keep his possessions. I have grouped
the issues based on the calls listed to the attorney in the case study.
Issue #1 mountain property that is currently in process of foreclosing includes a squatter
Barney is on his way out to his mountain property to do some fly fishing when he was welcomed
by a hostile participant. Barney tried to explain that he had the deed to prove the property belonged

In a similar case in Lakewood, Ohio, the Saleets were about to have their home, along with their
neighbors homes, taken to build new higher end condominiums. The mayor of the city had
pressed for the new development as a way to strengthen the tax base. In the end, the Lakewood
residents were able to reject the proposed development, remove the blight label from their
neighborhood and also voted the mayor out (Leung, 2009). Yes, the new resort would create jobs
to manage the resort, and increase the city s income and taxes, however, the area does not qualify
as one that requires this sort of enhancement. As stated in the Institute For Justice (2013) website
The justification the City had offered for the takings was that a new development would create
more jobs and taxes, but keep this in mind: anyone s home or small business would generate more
taxes as a shopping mall. If that can justify such takings, then literally no home or business would
be safe from this kind of abuse at the hands of government (para.3). Should Barney be unable to
win the opportunity to keep his home, fighting at least gives the chance to help get the best
available amount for what qualifies as full market value.
Issue #3 Auto theft gone wrong
While Barney is at local town authorities fighting for his beach property, he bumps into an old
girlfriend. He invites her to a fancy restaurant for dinner despite their casual attire. As Barney pulls

Essay on Sealed Air Taiwan Case Analysis
Case Summary:
The central issue Sealed Air Taiwan is currently facing is how to determine if the newly hired,
Paul Huang, can produce the necessary sales results and whether he fits the mold for his position
as sales manager. Historically, Sealed Air Taiwan was struggling with both stagnant sales and high
operating costs. The branch was not adapting well to the Sealed Air s established business model
and there were even talks of shutting the branch down. Bob Kayser was brought in to turn things
around and quickly realized that the problem this branch was facing was a cultural divide between
Taiwanese beliefs and the current United States business model. After training and extensive work
improving the sales team, Kayser was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are, however, legitimate concerns if Huang s personality and management style will fit the
Sealed Air mold of what a sales manager needs to accomplish. Huang seems very data and numbers
driven, while Sealed Air was really looking for someone who could spend their time in the field
managing the representatives rather than analyzing data. Although some of Steinke s issues with
Huang seem to be mere cross cultural misunderstandings there does seem to be disconnected
between Huang s personal strengths and the desired expectations as a sales manager.
Recommendations:
It is our recommendation to remain with Huang and keep him in his current role as sales
manager. The first reason for this recommendation is that in the past Sealed Air and Kayser have
made the mistake of trying to solve the problems in Taiwan with American solutions. Steinke s
problems with Huang are primarily based on what is expected from an American sales manager.
He is not taking into consideration that Taiwanese employees are motivated by different types of
leaders and respond to different types of management styles. Kayser, for example, was only
successful when he gave up the idea of employee empowerment and realized that these employees
preferred to be given specific instructions.
Huang is also an appropriate fit for this role because he understands Chinese culture. He has already
been successful in a Chinese sales environment

Personal Statement Of Environmentalism In An Equivalent To...
In my opinion Environmentalism in many ways is equivalent to Feminism . Both the subjects
have been overlooked in the past by policy makers and corporations, have suffered injustice and
are fighting for their rights. Just as the world cannot progress entirely and achieve its true
potential by leaving one gender behind, in the same way we cannot achieve sustainable
development by ignoring our environment. As a young kid I didn t know what I and billion
other Indians were missing in life until I visited Singapore. I was awe struck by the efficient
public transport, less reliance on private cars for movement, vertical development, cleanliness
and high quality of life. One of the starkest differences that I noticed was how I could not tell the
rich from the poor which is so evident in India. Other thing that I observed was how the entire
city was connected seamlessly. Print media and internet have been a great influence in my life
since my childhood. Since childhood my habit of reading newspaper and magazines have widened

Composite materials are the engineering materials made from two or more constituent materials
they remain separate and distinct on a macroscopic level but forming a single component or
Composites can defined as materials that consist of two more chemically and physically different
phases separated by a distinct interface(matrix phase and dispersed phase). The different systems
are combined judiciously to achieve a component with more and more useful structural or
functional properties non attainable by any of the constituent alone. In the composites usually
Matrix phase is the primary or base phase having a continuous character or continuous molecular
chain. But these Matrixes are usually less hard and more ductile phase. In composites it holds the
dispersed (reinforcing) phase, shares a load with it. The Dispersed phase is encapsulated in the
matrix in a discontinuous form called a secondary phase. This Secondary phase is usually stronger
than that of the matrix phase, so is also called as reinforcing phase.

Big Time College Sports
Big time college sports... selects athletes mainly for their athletics, not academics, interests, and
abilities this shows that in reality colleges view athletes more as athletes students than student
athletes (Eckard 211). This only goes to show why the graduation rate for college athletes is so
low. However higher educationmake their graduation rate seem more favorable so that they can
continue to get and recruit more skilled amateur players to generate millions of dollars for their
facilities. Although some may say colleges do a effective job of taking care of and graduating their
student athletes, conversely colleges student athletes graduation rate is low and the student athletes
don t get what they desire. If colleges start putting the students first in the term student athletes then
there would be more collegestudent athletes making the grade.
Many colleges say they have good graduation rates for athletes when the truth is their graduation
rate for students is very low.
However higher education facilities are trying to improve their graduation rate for athletes. Some
are doing it by giving the students a valuable education, while others are doing is by using
scandals. The author, Paul M. Barrett explains in Bad Sports the scandals that some colleges ...

Middle Childhood Standing Out
Middle childhood fitting in or standing out Middle childhood is a crucial time when children start
to establish their own sense of identity, independence, and start to be more involved in the world
beyond their family. When children get older there values and behaviors start to change. Many
children try to be individuals, but most of the time it makes them feel vulnerable, so they tend to
conform to a group. During middle childhoodcognitive changes begin to transform a child s mind
and body therefor having stability at home and in school is crucial. Vygotsky realized that children

Comedy has asserted its dominance as one of the most popular and effective genres of film in
American cinema ever since the conception of motion picture. With its exaggeration and stylization
of plot and characters, comedy films effectively show the discrepancy between reality and idea to
create a comedic effect for the viewers. Through the annals of time, historical events and cultural
turning points have shaped the genre, allowing it to evolve and diversify. As a result, comedyis now
bolder, more risque, and more provocative. While there are several factors that contributed to this
transformation, none was more impactful than the abolishment of the Hays Code (or the Motion
Picture Production Code) in 1968. Without the restraints of the Code,... Show more content on

The Navy Of The Coast Guard
1. Today when looking at members of the Coast Guard there is very little difference in uniform
to distinguish the senior enlisted and Officer Corps from that of the Junior Enlisted Corps. The
Coast Guard believes that there is a distinct difference between a First Class Petty Officer and a
Chief but has gone away from making that difference easy to see from a distance. The Navy
goes so far as to change the entire color and style of their uniform as well as the change of the
combination cover when a member is advanced to the pay grade of E 7. This is due to the belief
that the amount of responsibility one takes on with this advancement warrants the clear
delineation, one that can be seen right away. Furthermore, even today when going through the
Chiefs Call to Indoctrination process, all Navy and Coast Guard Chiefs build a hat box solely
for the purpose of housing their new combination cover, a cover that in today s Coast Guard
members have been wearing since boot camp. The Coast Guard used to make the same uniform
change as the Navy, and we have strayed from this tradition, strayed at the cost of a loss of
respect in this advancement. The Coast Guard should visibly distinguish E 7 and above by
making a change in the uniform regulations and making E 7 and above only authorized to wear
the combination cover. 2. All members of the Coast Guard, As per ref (a), pay for and are issued a

technology, culture, and education. One gift is technology, technology is an everyday thing. Self
driving cars are electric. Video games are evolving from pixels to VR consoles. Phones can talk

is a bed which locks you in when there is like an earthquake. With advance technology, we could

Motivate, Delegate and Empower
AC 2.2
Review own ability to motivate, delegate and empower others
For any business to be successful it needs motivated employees. They are the single most important
factor in the long term success of an organisation.
Empowerment refers to the employee s feeling of being effective, in control and influential.
Furthermore, empowerment positively impacts motivation, and motivation leads to better
performance.
Maslow s hierarchy of needs provides a foundational theory. It states that all employees have some
basic needs that must first be satisfied in order to provide the framework for further motivation and
empowerment.
There are five levels in the hierarchy: * Physiological needs * Safety and security needs * Love or

Herzberg showed that to truly motivate an employee a business needs to create conditions that
make him or her feel fulfilled in the workplace.
Delegation is one of the most important management skills as it empowers the team member to
make decisions. However, the person who delegated the work remains accountable for the outcome
of the delegated work.
Delegation can save money and time, help in building skills, and motivate people. Poor delegation,
on the other hand, might cause frustration and confusion to all the involved parties.
Tannenbaum amp; Schmidt defined 7 levels of delegated freedom which moves from manager
oriented to subordinate oriented. As the team develops, the area of freedom for the subordinate
increases and the need for the manager s intervention decreases.
Within my team I have tried to improve motivation through several initiatives:
One member of my team seemed to be becoming disillusioned with her role and so I spent some
time with her trying to establish the root cause of this.
Having asked several questions I established that she felt bored with her daily routine and wanted a
fresh challenge.
I took notes of our meeting and produced a plan with her which involved a gradual phasing in of

Cuneiform Vs Hieroglyphics
Cuneiform and hieroglyphics were both writing systems that emerged at the dawn of humanity, but
their legacy and impact were vastly different. The two systems not only demonstrate the early
concept of writing but show contrasting elements of civilization in globalism vs nationalism,
internal vs external, connection vs isolation. The two systems certainly diverged from one another,
but to understand this, the origins of the two writingsystems must be examined. Around the dawn of
civilization, in the last half of the third millennium, abstract symbols (meaning letters, numbers, and
other things that represent abstract thought) started to form from proto writing that had been
present for millennia in the Nile valley before the first abstract... Show more content on

But it is undeniable that hieroglyphics had more influence on history than cuneiform did, in spite of
the fact that cuneiform was more advanced for its time. This is the first way that these systems
contrast; sophistication. Cuneiform was a more advanced system than hieroglyphics simply
because cuneiform was more abstract and it was far quicker to write Sumerian with it.
Hieroglyphics was, for much of its existence, a logographic system, making it in some ways closer
to drawing than to abstract writing such as cuneiform. However, in the Neolithic times,
sophistication had an inverse relationship with influence, that is to say, that less advanced writing
systems had more influence and clout with other cultures. This may have been because it is hard to
teach an illiterate culture who may adopt a writing system, a complex, writing scheme, or a system
that doesn t work in their language. Or, it may because the more advanced a writing system is, the
fewer people in your culture understand how to use it. This can be seen with cuneiform and
hieroglyphics in a very stark way. Not many cultures used cuneiform, and when they did it worked
poorly with the language it was being used in, while hieroglyphs informed many other writing
systems, such as Hebrew, Greek, and Phoenician; it cannot be understated the

Incidents of a slave girl
When a book is written from the third person you get a different feeling if you were to read a
book from the person these events that happened to. Incidents of a slave girl was written by
Harris Ann Jacobs. She was born in Edenton, North Carolina in the fall of 1813. She did not know
she was born property of market horniblow. The book she had wrote was not fiction but simply
nonfiction with changed names. This book was chosen to review because when Harris Jacobs

Knowing that these events in this book actually had happened made it harder for me to read.
This chapter you start to see that Mr Flint starting to sexually abuse her. Being as honest as she
was she successfully showed what it was like to be a woman s slave. What he did and the fact
that she was a slave major believe you can go nowhere for protection that s how it affected her
mind. No matter whether the slave girl be as black as ebony or as fair as her mistress. In either
case, there is no shadow of law to protect her from insult, from violence, or even from death. (27)
In the next chapter The Jealous Mistress the treatment of Mr flint kept happening. Now her
mistress kept getting jealous, realizing things were going on. In my opinion the way she
explaining things were happening to her what s a good way to do it. Instead of coming straight
out and saying exactly what Mr flint did to her, she let us infer. Which I personally liked better
because it wasn t as graphic. I said before the reason she wrote this book was to explain the
treatment of her as a slave. She explains I draw no imaginary pictures of southern homes. I am
telling you the plain truth (pg 34). So I think this helps to prove her point that she s not lying
and she is telling exactly how it happened. Also in the chapter The lover it does explain
successfully like the rest of the book of what happens to her, even as a young girl who fell in
love. The book does show what happened but it is not until the middle and the end of the book
you start seeing how it affected her. But you do see a little of the first of her showing her emotions
and what the treatment made her feel. I felt lonely and desolate.

Richard Plantagenet Essay
For this project I would like to research the public opinion and reception of the political reforms
made by Richard Plantagenet as both Duke of Gloucester and King of England. Upon his
brother Edward IV s regaining of the throne in 1471, Richard gained properties and offices in the
far north of England previously enjoyed only by lords of long standing families such as the
Percys. As Duke of Gloucester, Richard served as an extension of royal power and was charged
with constructing some semblance of order. Repeatedly, Richard used his close relationship with
the king to settle disputes between nobility and local governments in favor of the latter. This
suggests an affinity for the lesser classes that continued during his brief reign. In a previous
research project I discussed Richard s 1484 Parliament and how it sought to benefit the general
public over the nobility. While this argument was backed by fairly substantial evidence as to the
intent of the laws and amendments, the public reaction to them was not addressed. Unfortunately, it
is virtually impossible to follow up on the effects of these parliamentary statutes as, after his death
in 1485, many of Richard s reforms were eradicated or... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Sworn Evidence
A child is competent and capable to give sworn evidence, if they have the ability and mental
capacity of understanding that they are under a duty to provide truthful evidence. However, this
could cause many inconsistencies, as a child in their own particular nature, do not have the full

Water Is The Second Largest Reserve Of Freshwater On Earth
The earth is like a living organism; it thrives full of life with a fragile balance. This balance has
been thrown off by many different things. Water seems to be one of the biggest problems with
this offset balance. Water is a magic liquid keeping all of life thriving. Humans drink and use
water, plants use water, water is used in everyday life, and it s slowly being taken away. In the
future, there will be no water left to sustain life on earth. Ground water is a very important part of
our fresh water supply and yet, it s depleting at a faster rate than what can be replenished.
According to Kally Worm Groundwateris the second largest reserve of freshwater on earth. It also
makes up 40% of the freshwater used in the U.S. alone. This ground water is usually found in what
is called an aquifer. An aquifer is found towards the lower layers of the soil. The problem with
these aquifers it that their recharge rate is slow making it non renewable. These water supplies
being non re We are overusing these water supplies. When ground water is used to a level of
where it can t recover, it affects the ground. Sinkholes can be formed when there is a aquifer that
has water being drawn from it, but not letting it get back to par. Other problems can also occur is
too much ground water is pumped out near coasts. This creates what s called salt water intrusion.
Salt water intrusion is when the ocean water mixes with the fresh ground water. This increases the
salinity of the water making

How Did The Thirteen Years Of Prohibition Lead To The Rise...
Why, and to what extent did the thirteen years of prohibition lead to the rise of organized crime in
America?
From the year 1920 to the year 1933, the United States of America implemented a nationwide
constitutional ban. Under this ban, the manufacture, sale, or transportation of intoxicating liquors
within, the importation thereof into, or the exportation thereof from the United States [source 2] was
illegal. Prohibition was brought into effect due to a movement from dry crusaders. These
crusaders saw alcohol as a plague in America, and wanted this plague to be wiped out. They
believed the alcohol ban would improve the economy and decrease crime rates. However, the
opposite of this proved true prohibition had many adverse effects on both American economy and
society. Alcohol consumption rose, economy declined, and, of most significance for America,
organized crime grew. In this essay I intend to look at why prohibition caused an increase in
organized crime, and to what extent. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Immediately saloons, distilleries and breweries were out of business. Although these
establishments closed, Americans still wanted alcohol. They did not feel amoral for their
drinking, as under the amendment only the sale, import and export of alcohol was prohibited but
not the consumption. The prohibition was widely disregarded and looked down upon by
ordinary Americans. There was a high demand for alcohol, but owing to its illegality, it was hard
to come by. This problem was solved by criminals, later known as bootleggers, who saw their
opportunity to strike gold. They were happy to supply America with the illegal liquor whilst
making a profit. So began the rise in organized

San Joaquin River Project Analysis
Should California spent a heavy amount of money on a River Project?
This project is called the San Joaquin River Restoration. They had to rebuild the river so that the
salmon and fishes can swim back and forth. It cost them only $400 dollars to rebuild the dry
river.I agree with Daniel Weintraub because he s been the public affairs columnist for the
editorial pages of Sacramento Bee since November 2000. Daniel Weintraub has been covering
California politics and a public policy for 22 years, also including the last 18 years in
Sacramento. I choose this statement because I think California should invest money in this
project because it can help us in many ways and so that we can have a better economy. The
Sacramento Bee, April 26,2009 is the newspaper where this article was published in. I believe
the SJRP was worth the $400 dollars because of the experts that supported the numerous studies
that proved it would work and help California and the positive impact this project would have on
people emotionally. I strongly agree with this San Joaquin River Project because it can help and
benefit people in many great ways. For example the San Joaquin River is critical to revitalizing ...

Religion is the belief and worship of a higher controlling power, and which customs, and
practices are followed by a group of people. Religion affects what people value in life, and what
they believe is right or wrong. It can be the moral foundation of a society whether this is
acknowledged or not. It also comes in many forms, and prompts the questions, such as what
happens after we die? And is there an afterlife? These questions can not be answered, because no
one truly knows what happens, however many people have faith and believe in something that is
unknown, because they trust their God. There are around 4,200 religions that are practiced across

Analysis Of Jan Van Eyck s The Dutch And Flemish
The Renaissance was a time of rebirth, and evolution in artwork all around Europe. Up in the North,
right behind the Italians, the Dutch and Flemish were gearing up for their own shift in artwork to
surpass their neighbors. Following inspiration from their Italian neighbors, and the International
Gothic style, they looked forward and redefined paintingas a style, while also changing arts
meaning. Making the characters true to life in artwork was a new feat never before seen until the
High Renaissancein Italy. Jan Van Eyck took the Netherlands by storm by renovating the
International Gothic style, and creating a more naturalistic style that spawned dozens of
copiers, and inspired artists to strive for a more realistic, original view of the human body. He
mastered both portrait artwork and religious altarpieces in a style of oil painting he invented. It
conjured a movement of painting, which would soon change the European art scene as he
passed away. Religious painting also took hit of Eyck s artwork as it introduced the realism
style religious figures in life sized format. Jan van Eyck was a master of realism for the time
period he lived in, and gave the north what Leonardo di Vinci gave to Italy. Renaissance artwork
was groundbreaking because of its naturalistic style brought on by Jan van Eyck that created life
like portraits, and dynamic story telling in altarpieces.
Following the early Italian Renaissance, the Dutch decided to dip their feet in the pool of inspiration

The Historical Significance of the
Ku Klux Klan
The Ku Klux Klan organization is very important in history but unfortunately it was a bad group

struggle of blacks for freedom came to an end, a new form of struggle began to form. Political,
social, and economic gains of blacks after the Civil war became really frightening!! The idea of
whites loosing superiority over blacks felt unacceptable. The poor social white class feared of
losing their jobs, and the wealthy of loosing cheap labor. As a result, racist groups began to form.

It is for this bias that they may not be seen as a reputable source of fact on the issue. Why would
they show the horrors of gun violence when their organization revolves around guns, many liberals
ask. While organizations may be an unreliable source of reason due to the impact that resulting laws
may have on them, they still propose valid points.
Obama s proposals function on one of the oldest, fundamental goals of government: to provide
order and security to those governed. By requiring universal background checks, those deemed unfit
to possess a firearm would not legally have a way to buy one and therefore the severity of the
situation, should one of these individuals act on any rash thoughts, would be greatly reduced.
The same would be true if individuals who were able to possess firearms were only able to have
ones of a less ridiculous nature and with less ammunition to carry out any homicidal intentions.
The right to ban these dangerous and unusual weapons has already been ruled by the Supreme
Court in the case of District of Columbia v. Heller to be in accordance with the Constitution. In
1994, two laws were passed which did these two things. However, due to loopholes, they were less
effective than intended. Even still, statistical information shows that since the year they were

In a randomized, placebo controlled trial, immediate and continued improvement in PPT at MTrPs

Diverse Mating Strategies Among Different Species
Diverse Mating Strategies Among Different Dolphin Species
There are a variety of different mating strategies among different male dolphins species. Male
mating strategies and forms of competitive interaction among male cetaceans lead to the
development of sexually dimorphic features such as prominent postanal humps, reproductive
adaptation such as large testis size, and retained bodily scarring caused by interactions with
conspecifics. (Murphy, 2005) Cetacean have been noted to either have a polygynous or
polygynandrous mating system. (Murphy, 2005) These mating systems have led to a number of
different types of competition among males such as contest competition (where males limit the
access of other males to females by aggressive displays or fights) scramble competition (competition
to disperse and find sexually receptive females), endurance rivalry competition (competition to
remain sexually active over a longer period of time), mate choice competition (competition in
courtship), and sperm competition (competition between the sperm of 2 or more males). (Murphy,
2005) Individual males will use these different strategies depending on their dominance in rank,
size, age , and number and quality of reproductive females. (Murphy, 2005) Contest competition and
courtship competition have been documented in polygynous species such as bottlenose dolphin
(tursiops truncates), and humpback whales.( Murphy, 2005) Sexual dimorphism in size, weaponry

The Unjust Society Of Selfish Society In John Locke s...
The Unjust Society of Selfish Men Can a man s private interests result in an unjust society? In
John Locke s Second Treatise of Government, Locke explains that private interests lead to
injustice. Private interests lead to an individual s desire for power which is the over arching
theme in men s interest. Everything a man does he does for himself and his prosperity, instead of
living in a state of equality. Selfish desires always lead to injustice because man consequently
deprives others of what he has achieved. The violation of the rights of others is unjust, so by
working for self gain, men deprive others rights. Since men live in a state of equality, treating
others with fairness maintains that state. Unfortunately, men are naturally selfish, which means
they live through their own self interest, and for their own self gain. Moreover, through a man s
self interests equality does not exist, which leads to an unjust society. A man s self interests result
in an unjust treatment of others, because as he works for his own self prosperity he is depriving
others of the same opportunities. Injustice is a result of a man s self interests, such as wealth,
property, and the desire of authority. The amount of wealth a man possesses determines his level of
power, which leads to an unjust society. The amount of money a person possesses also determines
his quantity of wealth. A man earns money, charged on the account of labour (Ch. V, Sec. 43, pg.
27), which means the large

Production Of A Product Line
Abstract Everything that needs to be manufactured requires a precise Bill of Materials (BoM)
which described exactly what specific items, components or parts composed the products that
has been specified / ordered. For complex configured products, such as mass produced passenger

of an all possible option in a configurable BoM i.e. the 150% BoM from which all possible

citizens, the highest ratio in the world. The population of prisoners is expanding at a rate at which
the U.S. correction system can just manage. The introductions of three strikes , tougher sentences,
and mandatory minimum sentence laws have vastly contributed to growth in prison population.
Inmates serving mandatory longer sentences are a part of one the biggest growing concerns with
the American correctional system, an aging population with increased needs. Between 1981 and
2010, the number of U.S. prisoners age 55 and over increased from 8,853 to 124,900 (Criminal
Justice Hub, n.d.). If the problem is not addressed and the rate continues to grow, by

Analysis Of Jane Hill s Position That Mock Spanish
I was asked to answer the following question: Do you agree or disagree with Jane Hill s position
that mock Spanish, including such phrases as no problemo and buenos nachos, are a form of
racism? I have so many things I desire to say regarding this question. First, I will address the
issue of Jane Hill s example that she gave which I found to be extremely offensive. She said,
Calling something el cheapo will conjure in the minds of many Anglos images of lazy lower class
Mexicans. Jane Hill made a sweeping generalization with her statement; one that I find to be
incredibly disrespectful and a sign of her personal negative sentiment (racism) toward Mexican
Americans. Also, earlier in Jane Hill s little tantrum, she said that Spanglish such

Medieval Medicine Research Paper
Middle Ages to Modern
Medieval medicine and procedures have transformed drastically over time from the middle ages to
modern day. During the medieval era, medicine was multi faced, relying on the skills of several
practitioners. Leonardo da Vinci stated, ?Medicine is the restoration of discordant element; sickness
is the discord of the elements infused into the living body.? Educational requirements, procedures,
and diseases have evolved since the medieval era to present day, due to major breakthroughs.
In the middle ages, doctors had limited knowledge (BBC). Doctors were developed through
practicing, not schooling. Beginning in the 15th century, doctors were required to have a minimum
amount of schooling to even be considered a doctor. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Pneumonia was present during the winter months because of the cold drafty dwellings. Skin
diseases were common due to the rough worn that peasants wore, and the lack of nutrition
(Diseases). The major disease concern in the middle era was the Black Death. It was spread by rats
that were present on the long journeys of the trading ships (Black).
As I refer back to the ninth paragraph, the Black Death killed over twenty million people in the
Middle Ages. Girolama Fracstora, however, was the first to discover that plaques and epidemics
were not caused by the body. He was also the first person to say that there was an outside source
(Wikipedia). Scientists are led to believe that the spread of the plaque could have been prevented by
the simple use of soap and water. Not all diseases have cures today. Cancer is the leading cause of
death internationally, and is predicted to keep on rising. The second leading cause of death is
cardiovascular disease or CVD. Physicians have proven that patients who lack of exercise and have
poor dietary habits are more at risk to be diagnosed with this disease. For decades they have tried to
discover a cure for diabetes, but have been unsuccessful. Type 1 is thought to be caused by genetics.
Food processing is blamed for type 2 diabetes (Torres). Diseases are evolving every

only a Thai language standing on the stage of all communities but also other languages other than

to sustain a stable growth rate.
The reforms pertaining to the monetary policies and the macroeconomic policies over the last few

The Recovery Room
From the birth of the recovery room in the 1940s to the postanesthesia care unit (PACU) of the
21th century, the look and function of this unit have been in a constant state of evolution.
Throughout the six past decades, surgical procedures have become more extensive and
complicated and thus require more specially prepared nursing staff and equipment for the care of
the patient (Odom Forren, 2013). The PACU of today is an intensive care specialty that provides
care to wide range surgical patients. Many of these patients have more than one chronic condition,
such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, diabetes mellitus, chronic pain, and chronic heart
problems. In order to provide safe patient care, the PACU nurseneeds to develop the ability to blend
expert clinical knowledge that is based on experience, education, and collegial sharing with caring
practices that comes from within and from being a nurse (Odom Forren, 2013).
For many years, critical care experience was a must have requirement prior to working in the
PACU. The PACU was staffed with experienced intensive care unit (ICU) nurses with different
backgrounds and a solid nursing knowledge base. Nowadays, many of these nurses are retiring or
taking different paths in their careers forcing the PACU managers to revise hiring requirements and

Research Paper On Richard Rorty
Richard Rorty was a philosopher who hated Philosophy. He was a 20th Century philosopher. He
was a professor at the University of Chicago. Rorty was born in New York on October of 1931.
Richard struggled in his younger years. He went into depression, was offered medical help. When
he was 15, he was registered for University of Chicago, where he attended. He was awarded a
bachelor s and a master s degree in philosophy. Richard was married and had one son, Jay, by his
first wife. After being in the army, he divorced his wife. Later, he married again and had 2 more

Against this approach, Rorty advocated for a novel form of American pragmatism, sometimes
called neopragmatism, in which scientific and philosophical methods form merely a set of
contingent vocabularies which people abandon or adopt over time according to social conventions
and usefulness. According to Rorty, analytic philosophymay not have lived up to its pretensions
and may not have solved the puzzles it thought it had. Yet such philosophy, in the process of
finding reasons for putting those pretensions and puzzles aside, helped earn itself an important
place in the history of ideas. By giving up on the quest for apodicticity and finality that Edmund
Husserl shared with Rudolf Carnap and Bertrand Russell, and by finding new reasons for
thinking that such quest will never succeed, analytic philosophy cleared a path that leads past
scientism, just as the German idealists cleared a path that led around empiricism. Martin
Heidegger encouraged Rorty to process permanence. For the history of western. They both
underlyed persisted from plato. Rorty agreed with Hegel about the quest for clarity. They
attempted to escape for times than not. Rorty and Hegel looked at philosophy as a way of life.
They both understood eachother in a way no one else could. Philosophy was their life, what they
lived and breathed. All philosophers had different views on all things. Rorty says there is no gap
between human psychology and biology than chemistry and biology. His beliefs follow easily
from Deweyan take on Darwinism. When they accept the pragmatism then they will disguise
between human and the natural. Rortys writing was an overall view of Philosophy. A way to cope
with, and achieve our purposes and desires. Rorty says there is a difference between natural than
from social. For Rorty, some results of merging was the truth of dropping realist, anti realist, and
issues. Rorty

Middle Ages Dbq Essay
The middle ages are a topic that most people know of as the Dark Ages but mainly because no
one could identify what really happened during this time period. This was a period of learning
and innovation. Great things like religion, democracies were spread and created. That is why the
Dark Ages weren t so dark, like every person makes them out to be! One of the biggest questions
out there is, why are the Middle Ages known as the Dark Ages in the first place? Evidence from
Document A: A Dictionary Entry for the Dark Ages suggest that no one knew right away what
happened in the Middle Ages, that is why it became known as the Dark Ages. From then on once it
got its name historians and researchers automatically got a negative connotation about the Middle
Ages. They thought there was no learning or innovation taking place during this period, just
because of negative meaning it gained. As the days passed researchers soon figured out what really
happened in the Middle Ages. One new innovation that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Besides trading silk, brocades, cotton, tea, books, cooper coins, and porcelain, the Japanese
learned a new religion; Buddhism. During the peaceful period between Japan and China during the
feudal period, trade relation often varied. But when the countries were at peace, the trade routes
flourished. Based on Document F, trade was instrumental in the spread of Buddhism to Japan. The
Dark Ages was a time of new creations since the Magna Carta was created during the time period.
New things were learned, new religions like Buddhism were introduced to countries like Japan
through trade. All these things show that the Dark Ages were a time of innovation and learning.
The Middle Ages were just called Dark Ages, because at first no one knew what went on during
this time frame. The Dark ages is not an appropriate term to describe the Middle Ages as.

Torture Argumentative Essay
Over centuries throughout the world, torture has been a debated and very controversial topic.
For the past week, I have read articles written by four separate authors who share their opinion
on the topic. The articles take you through the opinions of the authors and many compelling
arguments. Is torture inhumane? Is torture barbaric? Does the use of torture discredit our moral
standings? Could you be given bad intelligence even with the use of torture? After reading the
information provided in these four articles, I have not only become aware of the issues, but I
have also formed my own opinion. According to Michael Levins, The Case for Torture , over
time there have been occasions in which torture is seen as simply essential and tolerable. One
claim Levin uses in his article is an atomic bomb attack made by terrorists. If the suspect is
caught and in police custody, the question is are the officers suppose to just stick to protocol or
should they be doing anything possible to get the information they need to save all those people? ,
even if that means to put the man in unbearable circumstances. Levine argues that millions of
innocent lives are worth more than this one mass murder, but we are going to let him win because
torture is unconstitutional and barbaric. Levin goes on to explain that if we can view torture as
necessary means in an extreme case like that, we can see that the choice of torture is simply a
balancing act of innocent lives and what it will take to

Persuasive Essay On Torture In History
The use of brute force and psychological manipulation to obtain information from detainees is
known as torture. Considered to be one of the most common interrogation methods, this barbaric
craft has been practiced in different cultures throughout history. Ranging from physical assault to
white torture, torture takes many forms. Although widely practiced, this illegal, immoral, and
ineffective method has no bearing in America. Countless torture methods have been used
throughout history. One especially prevalent form is white torture, this method is especially cruel
as it preys on the mind of the detainee rather than the body. White torture embodies both emotional
and psychological torture. In lieu of inflicting physical pain upon the individual, sensory
deprivation and total isolation are used. The detainee is imprisoned in a room that is completely
white. There are no windows and the meals given are completely white. This torture tactic is
frequently employed by the Iranian government and the effects of this torture, while not physical,
are lifelong. On the opposing end of the spectrum, an example of physical torture is waterboarding.
Waterboarding is a form of torture in which water is poured over a cloth covering the face and
breathing passages of an immobilized captive, causing the individual to experience the sensation of
drowning. Torture is an extremely controversial topic in our society today. Foreign terror attacks
from groups such Al Qaeda and ISIS have thrust

The Picture Of Dorian Gray By Oscar Wilde
Introduction (Book Author Genre): The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde is a philosophical
/gothic fiction. Setting: The novel takes place in the peak of the Decadent artistic movement of
the 1890s, which occurred in the Victorian era of London and is known for its judgmental social
standards, highlighting the contrast between the wealthier, materialistic higher classes and the dull
middle class society, making the novel more audacious. Plot: A famous artist named Basil
Hallward completes his first portrait of Dorian Gray: a wealthy, beautiful young man who
intensely captures Basil s artistic motivation. Dorian is furious at his painting however, after Basil
s friend, Lord Henry Wotton, explains to him how momentary and fragile his beauty and youth
are; and in a fit of madness Dorian promises his soul if the artwork could bear his burden of
mortality, guaranteeing him to stay young forever. Dorian corrupts himself throughout the novel
with Lord Henry s accompaniment, spurring rumours of his delinquency and fraudulence, and
repeatedly committing horrible sins spurring his fiancГ©e to kill herself; his brutal, selfish murder
of Basil but always manages to forgive himself. His painting, however, grows older by each sin.
When he finally decides to repent his sins, Dorian is youthful still, but his painting is deformed and
scarred by his emotional detachment, selfishness and brutality. He stabs the portrait but instead,
kills himself. Characters Dorian Gray is

Central Virginia Community Health Center (CVCHC) became the first community health center in
Virginia. It was created to serve the health care needs of residents of the rural counties of
Buckingham, Cumberland, and Fluvanna. After initially operating out of three trailers in each of
the three counties, practice operations were consolidated into the Gold Hill community of
Buckingham County. In 1970, healthcenter funding supported only medical services so that was
the only service offered. CVCHC providers soon realized that patients needed other services,

Analysis Of Language Of Dreams By Belle Yang
Thesis: The article Language of Dreams written by Belle Yang shed light on the different aspects
of culture Belle was missing. Although she was born a Chinese she never liked it until later she
discovered the folk art and culture of her ethnicity. Whereas the article Prologue from the Death of
Josseline written by Margaret Regan showed us the agony that an illegal immigrant has to go
through. Like Josseline, there are many others who lost her life as an illegal traveler.
Thesis example: In the article Language of Dreams, Belle Yang recalls the role of memory,
language and story telling in human lives, especially those displayed and complicated by
movement and the blending of culture. However, in the article Prologue from the Death of
Josseline, Margaret Reagan encourages a reconsideration of how the immigration issue is discussed
in the media.
Topic 1: Cost of immigration
Article 1: Belle Yang had to discover about her own culture at the age of twenty six. Being born a
Chinese, she was unknown of her own culture or let s say ignorant of her culture. They say Chinese
is the language of memories but she clearly stated that she has no idea what she will do of that
memory. She was always inclined to the American culture that she never knew the mysteries about
the ethnicity she was born with.
Article 2: Josseline, a fourteen year old girl, had to lose her life while trying to illegally get to her
mother who was as illegal immigrant of The United States. During her travel, she

Since inception, Flare has grown to be the #4 player in the U.S. women s fragrance market. For

time, the company introduced a new fragrance every three years with Loveliest on the label. Early

$100,000.00.
Timing of Launch:First orders excepted in 2009; first shipments in September 2009.
Sales Target:Gross factory sales of $7.5 million in 2009.
In analyzing this new product introduction recommendation a few things come to mind based on
the findings of Arlmont Associates as well as the focus group findings and the wants of the
company s founders. Flare fragrances typical new product introduction has been every three years
and this new launch is on target to meet the new introduction schedule. Although doing nothing or
concentrating on drugstore expansion are options, if bringing the company public is the ultimate
goal of the companies founders, then historically, especially for investors, it is critical to maintain
Flare s historical product launch schedule. If the company does not it would appear that there are

Dna Report Missing Person
With the use of DNA Analysis, we can find the correct identification of the missing person by
narrowing the information down to a single individual. For DNA analysis, we first had to obtain
samples from both the skeletal remains (SKE2/SKE1) and samples from the two missing persons
whom we narrowed down to (MP1/MP2). We then added the DNAto four test tubes with two
different restriction enzymes to cut segments at certain patterns it recognized. We initially used two
different restriction enzymes because there could be a slight possibility that if only one was used,
the two missing persons DNA results after inserted into the gel electrophoresis chamber could show
up the same. This would result in having the same amount of fragments as well as

  • 2. Smash The Pig Research Paper Meta: Get ready, as it is time to go pig smashing in the latest game from Spielo. Aptly titled Smash the Pig, will you be able to rip the reels of this new release apart in order to win big? Smash the Pig Review Smash the Pig is a brand new slot that brings a new feel and spin to the casino slots genre. This slot game by Spielo is not one based on glitz, glamour, and the high life, which seems to be the common trend of the moment. Instead, it is a game that has agricultural roots, as it is based around life on the farmyard. Considering its odd premise, eyebrows have certainly been raised, with many questioning the legitimacy of this new game prior to release. Being as objective as possible, can this theme actually be made into a fun game? There is only one way to find out! These little pigs went market Smash the Pig can be described in two words; adorable perfection. When the game starts (which it does rather quickly I must add) your eyes will be treated to bright colours all over the screen. It is meant to be a sunny day on the farm that this title is themed around, with the game reflecting that rather well. The reels are centre screen as per the norm with a Spielo title, while the background is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It matches well with the theme of the game and provides a distinct contrast against the bright background. Under the reels, you can find a display which will tell you how many lines you are playing and the bet per line for that spin. When that spin ends, it displays the winnings. You can find the buttons, which you will be using to play the game, on the bottom part of the screen. They are menu, pays, select lines, bet per line, max bet, and spin. When you win these buttons change into double up, take score, and triple up. All in all, within Smash the Pig the user interface is organised impressively, which allows for easy navigation and even easier ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The issues will be outlined below with information to help properly set Barney s expectations of his upcoming battle to keep his possessions. I have grouped the issues based on the calls listed to the attorney in the case study. In a similar case in Lakewood, Ohio, the Saleets were about to have their home, along with their neighbors homes, taken to build new higher end condominiums. The mayor of the city had pressed for the new development as a way to strengthen the tax base. In the end, the Lakewood residents were able to reject the proposed development, remove the blight label from their neighborhood and also voted the mayor out (Leung, 2009). Yes, the new resort would create jobs to manage the resort, and increase the city s income and taxes, however, the area does not qualify as one that requires this sort of enhancement. As stated in the Institute For Justice (2013) website The justification the City had offered for the takings was that a new development would create more jobs and taxes, but keep this in mind: anyone s home or small business would generate more taxes as a shopping mall. If that can justify such takings, then literally no home or business would be safe from this kind of abuse at the hands of government (para.3). Should Barney be unable to win the opportunity to keep his home, fighting at least gives the chance to help get the best available amount for what qualifies as full market value. Issue #3 Auto theft gone wrong While Barney is at local town authorities fighting for his beach property, he bumps into an old girlfriend. He invites her to a fancy restaurant for dinner despite their casual attire. As Barney pulls up, he hands the keys over to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Essay on Sealed Air Taiwan Case Analysis Case Summary: The central issue Sealed Air Taiwan is currently facing is how to determine if the newly hired, Paul Huang, can produce the necessary sales results and whether he fits the mold for his position as sales manager. Historically, Sealed Air Taiwan was struggling with both stagnant sales and high operating costs. The branch was not adapting well to the Sealed Air s established business model and there were even talks of shutting the branch down. Bob Kayser was brought in to turn things around and quickly realized that the problem this branch was facing was a cultural divide between Taiwanese beliefs and the current United States business model. After training and extensive work improving the sales team, Kayser was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are, however, legitimate concerns if Huang s personality and management style will fit the Sealed Air mold of what a sales manager needs to accomplish. Huang seems very data and numbers driven, while Sealed Air was really looking for someone who could spend their time in the field managing the representatives rather than analyzing data. Although some of Steinke s issues with Huang seem to be mere cross cultural misunderstandings there does seem to be disconnected between Huang s personal strengths and the desired expectations as a sales manager. Recommendations: It is our recommendation to remain with Huang and keep him in his current role as sales manager. The first reason for this recommendation is that in the past Sealed Air and Kayser have made the mistake of trying to solve the problems in Taiwan with American solutions. Steinke s problems with Huang are primarily based on what is expected from an American sales manager. He is not taking into consideration that Taiwanese employees are motivated by different types of leaders and respond to different types of management styles. Kayser, for example, was only successful when he gave up the idea of employee empowerment and realized that these employees preferred to be given specific instructions. Huang is also an appropriate fit for this role because he understands Chinese culture. He has already been successful in a Chinese sales environment ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Both the subjects have been overlooked in the past by policy makers and corporations, have suffered injustice and are fighting for their rights. Just as the world cannot progress entirely and achieve its true potential by leaving one gender behind, in the same way we cannot achieve sustainable development by ignoring our environment. As a young kid I didn t know what I and billion other Indians were missing in life until I visited Singapore. I was awe struck by the efficient public transport, less reliance on private cars for movement, vertical development, cleanliness and high quality of life. One of the starkest differences that I noticed was how I could not tell the rich from the poor which is so evident in India. Other thing that I observed was how the entire city was connected seamlessly. Print media and internet have been a great influence in my life since my childhood. Advantage And Disadvantage Of Plastics CHAPTER 1 INTRODUCTION Composite materials are the engineering materials made from two or more constituent materials they remain separate and distinct on a macroscopic level but forming a single component or Composites can defined as materials that consist of two more chemically and physically different phases separated by a distinct interface(matrix phase and dispersed phase). The different systems are combined judiciously to achieve a component with more and more useful structural or functional properties non attainable by any of the constituent alone. In the composites usually Matrix phase is the primary or base phase having a continuous character or continuous molecular chain. But these Matrixes are usually less hard and more ductile phase. In composites it holds the dispersed (reinforcing) phase, shares a load with it. The Dispersed phase is encapsulated in the matrix in a discontinuous form called a secondary phase. Big Time College Sports Big time college sports... selects athletes mainly for their athletics, not academics, interests, and abilities this shows that in reality colleges view athletes more as athletes students than student athletes (Eckard 211). This only goes to show why the graduation rate for college athletes is so low. However higher educationmake their graduation rate seem more favorable so that they can continue to get and recruit more skilled amateur players to generate millions of dollars for their facilities. Although some may say colleges do a effective job of taking care of and graduating their student athletes, conversely colleges student athletes graduation rate is low and the student athletes don t get what they desire. Comparison Of The Graduate And Shampoo Comedy has asserted its dominance as one of the most popular and effective genres of film in American cinema ever since the conception of motion picture. With its exaggeration and stylization of plot and characters, comedy films effectively show the discrepancy between reality and idea to create a comedic effect for the viewers. Through the annals of time, historical events and cultural turning points have shaped the genre, allowing it to evolve and diversify. As a result, comedyis now bolder, more risque, and more provocative. • 12. The Navy Of The Coast Guard 1. Today when looking at members of the Coast Guard there is very little difference in uniform to distinguish the senior enlisted and Officer Corps from that of the Junior Enlisted Corps. The Coast Guard believes that there is a distinct difference between a First Class Petty Officer and a Chief but has gone away from making that difference easy to see from a distance. The Navy goes so far as to change the entire color and style of their uniform as well as the change of the combination cover when a member is advanced to the pay grade of E 7. This is due to the belief that the amount of responsibility one takes on with this advancement warrants the clear delineation, one that can be seen right away. Furthermore, even today when going through the Chiefs Call to Indoctrination process, all Navy and Coast Guard Chiefs build a hat box solely for the purpose of housing their new combination cover, a cover that in today s Coast Guard members have been wearing since boot camp. They are the single most important factor in the long term success of an organisation. Empowerment refers to the employee s feeling of being effective, in control and influential. Furthermore, empowerment positively impacts motivation, and motivation leads to better performance. Maslow s hierarchy of needs provides a foundational theory. It states that all employees have some basic needs that must first be satisfied in order to provide the framework for further motivation and empowerment. Herzberg showed that to truly motivate an employee a business needs to create conditions that make him or her feel fulfilled in the workplace. Delegation is one of the most important management skills as it empowers the team member to make decisions. However, the person who delegated the work remains accountable for the outcome of the delegated work. Delegation can save money and time, help in building skills, and motivate people. Poor delegation, on the other hand, might cause frustration and confusion to all the involved parties. Tannenbaum amp; Schmidt defined 7 levels of delegated freedom which moves from manager oriented to subordinate oriented. As the team develops, the area of freedom for the subordinate increases and the need for the manager s intervention decreases. Within my team I have tried to improve motivation through several initiatives: One member of my team seemed to be becoming disillusioned with her role and so I spent some time with her trying to establish the root cause of this. The two systems not only demonstrate the early concept of writing but show contrasting elements of civilization in globalism vs nationalism, internal vs external, connection vs isolation. The two systems certainly diverged from one another, but to understand this, the origins of the two writingsystems must be examined. Around the dawn of civilization, in the last half of the third millennium, abstract symbols (meaning letters, numbers, and other things that represent abstract thought) started to form from proto writing that had been present for millennia in the Nile valley before the first abstract... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... But it is undeniable that hieroglyphics had more influence on history than cuneiform did, in spite of the fact that cuneiform was more advanced for its time. This is the first way that these systems contrast; sophistication. Cuneiform was a more advanced system than hieroglyphics simply because cuneiform was more abstract and it was far quicker to write Sumerian with it. Hieroglyphics was, for much of its existence, a logographic system, making it in some ways closer to drawing than to abstract writing such as cuneiform. However, in the Neolithic times, sophistication had an inverse relationship with influence, that is to say, that less advanced writing systems had more influence and clout with other cultures. This may have been because it is hard to teach an illiterate culture who may adopt a writing system, a complex, writing scheme, or a system that doesn t work in their language. Or, it may because the more advanced a writing system is, the fewer people in your culture understand how to use it. This can be seen with cuneiform and hieroglyphics in a very stark way. Not many cultures used cuneiform, and when they did it worked poorly with the language it was being used in, while hieroglyphs informed many other writing systems, such as Hebrew, Greek, and Phoenician; it cannot be understated the ... Richard Plantagenet Essay For this project I would like to research the public opinion and reception of the political reforms made by Richard Plantagenet as both Duke of Gloucester and King of England. Upon his brother Edward IV s regaining of the throne in 1471, Richard gained properties and offices in the far north of England previously enjoyed only by lords of long standing families such as the Percys. As Duke of Gloucester, Richard served as an extension of royal power and was charged with constructing some semblance of order. Repeatedly, Richard used his close relationship with the king to settle disputes between nobility and local governments in favor of the latter. This suggests an affinity for the lesser classes that continued during his brief reign. In a previous research project I discussed Richard s 1484 Parliament and how it sought to benefit the general public over the nobility. While this argument was backed by fairly substantial evidence as to the intent of the laws and amendments, the public reaction to them was not addressed. Unfortunately, it is virtually impossible to follow up on the effects of these parliamentary statutes as, after his death in 1485, many of Richard s reforms were eradicated or... From the year 1920 to the year 1933, the United States of America implemented a nationwide constitutional ban. Under this ban, the manufacture, sale, or transportation of intoxicating liquors within, the importation thereof into, or the exportation thereof from the United States [source 2] was illegal. Prohibition was brought into effect due to a movement from dry crusaders. These crusaders saw alcohol as a plague in America, and wanted this plague to be wiped out. They believed the alcohol ban would improve the economy and decrease crime rates. However, the opposite of this proved true prohibition had many adverse effects on both American economy and society. (Murphy, 2005) These mating systems have led to a number of different types of competition among males such as contest competition (where males limit the access of other males to females by aggressive displays or fights) scramble competition (competition to disperse and find sexually receptive females), endurance rivalry competition (competition to remain sexually active over a longer period of time), mate choice competition (competition in courtship), and sperm competition (competition between the sperm of 2 or more males). (Murphy, 2005) Individual males will use these different strategies depending on their dominance in rank, size, age , and number and quality of reproductive females. (Murphy, 2005) Contest competition and courtship competition have been documented in polygynous species such as bottlenose dolphin (tursiops truncates), and humpback whales.( Murphy, 2005) Sexual dimorphism in size, weaponry (teeth and husks), and ... As Mary Kay Ash, a successful businesswoman once declared, You can go as far as your mind lets you. What you believe, remember, you can achieve. Likewise, what matters most to me is determination: we can accomplish anything if we set our minds to our goals. Regardless of the outcome of my choices, I am determined to passionately follow my heart and make my own decisions. Prior to employing the affirmative ideology of free will, I was once extremely sensitive to others attitudes. In fact, I was afraid to speak in public. My mom strongly disapproved initially, believing I would not survive by myself in a foreign country. Although I appreciated her concern, I persisted in challenging myself. Ultimately, I not only survived; I thrived as I graduated magna cum laude from the University of Washington in only three years. Neither chilly nights I slept on a dusty, tattered mattress borrowed from a landlord s garage nor taking three final exams in three hours made me ever regret my decision to study overseas; instead, my hardships strongly reinforced my resolve. • 37. The Unjust Society Of Selfish Society In John Locke s... The Unjust Society of Selfish Men Can a man s private interests result in an unjust society? In John Locke s Second Treatise of Government, Locke explains that private interests lead to injustice. Private interests lead to an individual s desire for power which is the over arching theme in men s interest. Everything a man does he does for himself and his prosperity, instead of living in a state of equality. Selfish desires always lead to injustice because man consequently deprives others of what he has achieved. The violation of the rights of others is unjust, so by working for self gain, men deprive others rights. Since men live in a state of equality, treating others with fairness maintains that state. Unfortunately, men are naturally selfish, which means they live through their own self interest, and for their own self gain. Moreover, through a man s self interests equality does not exist, which leads to an unjust society. A man s self interests result in an unjust treatment of others, because as he works for his own self prosperity he is depriving others of the same opportunities. Injustice is a result of a man s self interests, such as wealth, property, and the desire of authority. The amount of wealth a man possesses determines his level of power, which leads to an unjust society. The amount of money a person possesses also determines his quantity of wealth. A man earns money, charged on the account of labour (Ch. V, Sec. 43, pg. 27), which means the large ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Handy American Military University Abstract The American correctional system is facing many emerging issues. One of these issues is the exponential increase in aging offenders. In the past few decades, the number of geriatric offenders incarcerated has multiplied at an increasing rate. This essay addresses the issue of aging offenders in the correctional system; the problems that these offenders create and the underlying issues related to the aging prisoner population as they relate to correctional management. This essay also proposes a solution to the problem. Solving the Problem of an Aging Prison Population The United States of America has the largest corrections system in the world. The incarceration rate in the U.S. is over one in every one hundred citizens, the highest ratio in the world. The population of prisoners is expanding at a rate at which the U.S. correction system can just manage. The introductions of three strikes , tougher sentences, and mandatory minimum sentence laws have vastly contributed to growth in prison population. Inmates serving mandatory longer sentences are a part of one the biggest growing concerns with the American correctional system, an aging population with increased needs. Between 1981 and 2010, the number of U.S. prisoners age 55 and over increased from 8,853 to 124,900 (Criminal Justice Hub, n.d.). Against this approach, Rorty advocated for a novel form of American pragmatism, sometimes called neopragmatism, in which scientific and philosophical methods form merely a set of contingent vocabularies which people abandon or adopt over time according to social conventions and usefulness. According to Rorty, analytic philosophymay not have lived up to its pretensions and may not have solved the puzzles it thought it had. Yet such philosophy, in the process of finding reasons for putting those pretensions and puzzles aside, helped earn itself an important place in the history of ideas. By giving up on the quest for apodicticity and finality that Edmund Husserl shared with Rudolf Carnap and Bertrand Russell, and by finding new reasons for thinking that such quest will never succeed, analytic philosophy cleared a path that leads past scientism, just as the German idealists cleared a path that led around empiricism. For the past week, I have read articles written by four separate authors who share their opinion on the topic. The articles take you through the opinions of the authors and many compelling arguments. Is torture inhumane? Is torture barbaric? Does the use of torture discredit our moral standings? Could you be given bad intelligence even with the use of torture? After reading the information provided in these four articles, I have not only become aware of the issues, but I have also formed my own opinion. According to Michael Levins, The Case for Torture , over time there have been occasions in which torture is seen as simply essential and tolerable. One claim Levin uses in his article is an atomic bomb attack made by terrorists. If the suspect is caught and in police custody, the question is are the officers suppose to just stick to protocol or should they be doing anything possible to get the information they need to save all those people? , even if that means to put the man in unbearable circumstances. Levine argues that millions of innocent lives are worth more than this one mass murder, but we are going to let him win because torture is unconstitutional and barbaric. Levin goes on to explain that if we can view torture as necessary means in an extreme case like that, we can see that the choice of torture is simply a balancing act of innocent lives and what it will take to ... Considered to be one of the most common interrogation methods, this barbaric craft has been practiced in different cultures throughout history. Ranging from physical assault to white torture, torture takes many forms. Although widely practiced, this illegal, immoral, and ineffective method has no bearing in America. Countless torture methods have been used throughout history. One especially prevalent form is white torture, this method is especially cruel as it preys on the mind of the detainee rather than the body. White torture embodies both emotional and psychological torture. In lieu of inflicting physical pain upon the individual, sensory deprivation and total isolation are used. The detainee is imprisoned in a room that is completely white. There are no windows and the meals given are completely white. This torture tactic is frequently employed by the Iranian government and the effects of this torture, while not physical, are lifelong. On the opposing end of the spectrum, an example of physical torture is waterboarding. Waterboarding is a form of torture in which water is poured over a cloth covering the face and breathing passages of an immobilized captive, causing the individual to experience the sensation of drowning. She was always inclined to the American culture that she never knew the mysteries about the ethnicity she was born with. This would result in having the same amount of fragments as well as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
