Profit Vist Non Profit
Introduction Whenever looking at financials, a certain level of accountability and understanding is
needed to be able to have great measurability of success. That is the case for any individual
especially when applying this thought of rational to a business or corporation even more
accountability, understanding, and most importantly precision are needed to successfully bring in
as well as continue financial sustainability. When dealing within a corporation there are many
levels to adhere to within the financial everyday aspects of the corporation being ran with
precision. So what happens when an organization is not ran financially like a corporation yet deals
with almost the same kind of aspects? A non profit organizationcan be one... Show more content on

So how can that definition be taken in? Is a non profit organization just a business trying to avoid
paying taxes? That could be the case though let us delve a little deeper.
Recognizing Non Profit Organizations
Taking a look at non profit organizations will breed a sense of familiarity. Five of the most known
and recognizable non profits are National Public Radio (NPR), United Nations Children s Fund
(UNICEF), Human Rights Watch (HRW), Wiki Leaks, and Green Peace. These are all
organizations we have come across with familiarity, with maybe the exception of Green Peace. As
any avid listener of National Public Radio I can attest to the programs being run on the basis of
callers calling in and pledging donations to help keep certain programs as well as the station afloat.
Some of these other organizations are also based upon donation interaction, however, to label their
financial situation as strictly donation base would be an ignorant train of thought. All of these
organizations do a great job acquiring revenue to help the operation of the organization.
Financial Stability Being financially stable is an issue of any organization or corporation. This is an
issue touched on by Padilla, Staplefoote, and Morganti as they state the following the definition of
financial sustainability may

Developmental Appropriate Practices And Jean Piaget s Theory
The centers I created focus on physical development and social development. The first center I
created is a center for fine/gross motor skills. This center included a Sand and Water Table. This
center has many benefits such as socially, cognitively and physically. Physically fine and gross
motor skills are improved through water and sand play. Socially playing with the sand and water
table encourages sharing, and taking turns. This activity also benefits cognitively by encouraging
investigation and problem solving skills. The second center I created is a center for creative
development. This center is an art center where kids can put on an art show with their play dough
creations. Having an art center in the classroom is very beneficial. Having... Show more content on

For Dap (developmental appropriate practices) is important because it gives teachers/caregivers
knowledge about their students development so they can create a lesson or activity that is
suitable for the age and stage of development for each of their students. Both the centers I created
are for kids around the ages 3 5. So the sand and water table and art show activities are age
appropriate. When it comes to my individual goals, will follow the dap guidelines and observe the
students exploring the materials and tools. Then document and place in individual portfolios
following the same guidelines. When doing research on Jean Piaget s theory, his theory has 4
stages. These stages are, The Sensorimotor Stage: During this stage, infants and toddlers acquire
knowledge through sensory experiences and manipulating objects. At this point in development, a
child s intelligence consists of their basic motor and sensory explorations of the world. The
Preoperational Stage: At this stage, kids learn through pretend play but still struggle with logic and
taking the point of view of other people. They also often struggle with understanding the ideal of
constancy. The Concrete Operational Stage: Kids at this point of development begin to think more
logically, but their thinking can also be very rigid. They tend to struggle with abstract and
hypothetical concepts. The Formal Operational Stage: The final stage of Piaget s theory involves
an increase in logic, the ability to use deductive reasoning, and an understanding of abstract ideas.
At this point, people become capable of seeing multiple potential solutions to problems and think
more scientifically about the world around them (Cherry). My activities follow the sensorimotor
stage. My students will be exploring certain materials and will start to manipulate objects. For
myself, teaching provides an opportunity for continual learning

The Inherent Ethical Dilemma Of A Company
The inherent ethical dilemma that presents itself in this case is whether or not it is ethical to cut
corners to make a profit. The management is aware of the issue, yet continues to allow the
defective drives to be sold in order to attempt to appease the company s new CEO. Is it ethical for a
company to sell a defective product in order to avoid loss?
The obvious IT component that lends itself to the circumstances of this case takes the form of the
defective Hard Drives. However, there are many other possible IT components playing a role in the
background. Such components would include an inventory management system and a defect
management system, alongside App and Database servers respectively to allow these systems to
function properly. Other IT components at work may include a CRM system for ensuring
customer satisfaction, a POS system, possibly including hardware such as scanners for sales and
returns. Desktops and laptops may also be in use by employees of the company, as well as an
Intranet and Extranet to share and access information on those machines.
One critical stakeholder in the case is the CEO of PrimeDrive, Mr. Stokes. An important right for
him as the head of the company is the right to use his business to generate a profit and run the
business as he sees fit. Another stakeholder are the managers of PrimeDrive, who have the right to
manage their departments as they envisioned. The consumers are also a critical stakeholder who
have the right to receive

Why Are The Witches Important In Macbeth
In the play of Macbeth, the witches have a major impact on the plot and effect on the man Macbeth.
They helped produce the story that generations of people have come to love and, without them, the
story would have been completely different. They not only caused Macbeth s power to rise, but
they also bring him to his tragic downfall. Through their influence, Macbethtransformed from the
war hero that Scotland loved to the brutal tyrant who ruled the land. Due to this, the witches have
the biggest impact on the story than any other minor character the audience meets.
From the beginning, the witches are well aware of the evil they re about to cause. When the play
begins, the audience or reader sees or reads that the sisters are clearly planning something. This
becomes obvious when the second witch says that they will meet again when the hurly burly s
done, when the battle s lost and won (i.i.4 5). It does not become clear that they will meet again
when they talk to Macbeth until a later scene, but when one looks back on ... Show more content on

When the sisters tell Macbeth that he will become the new Thane of Cawdor, he knows that the
current one does not exactly have to be dead in order for him to replace him; so he thinks
nothing of it. However, when they go on to tell him that he will also soon be the new king of
Scotland, he begins to worry. There is only one way that he can replace the king: the king has to
die and Duncan is still alive at that point. As the scene progresses, the audience or reader sees or
reads that he starts to consider the quickest route to him becoming the new king: he has to kill
Duncan. Would he have considered killing the king if the witches had not told him of his future?
No. Fate would have played out the way it was supposed to without Macbeth turning against him. It
is the witches telling of the prophecy that creates his fatal flaw and turns him into the tragic hero

Male Cheerleading is a Sport! Essay
Male Cheerleading is a Sport!
Against popular belief, females were not the founders behind the sport of cheerleading; instead
males who were so eager to cheer while watching sporting events created this sport. In the 1890 s
the first pep club was organized at Princeton University, and it was there where the first organized
yell was recorded. The University of Minnesota organized cheerleading and the first school fight
song. Women didn t get introduced to cheerleading until the 1920s when gymnastics was slowly
introduced to the sport. Cheerleading didn t become a predominantly woman sport until the 1950 s.
Today there are more then three thousand high school and college cheerleaders in the United
States. 97% of all cheerleaders are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
People forget that their routines require strength, skill, and coordination. The males in the squad
often provide a tremendous source of strength when lifting and throwing their teammates in the air.
The strength and coordination required by male cheerleaders is comparable to any male dominated
sport, but this fact is often ignored by society. Additionally, our society is generally supportive of
females who participate in sports that require the twirling of batons, marching, attractive uniforms,
and the recitation of rhymes. However, as soon as a male is introduced into this environment there
is thought to be a threat to his masculinity. This often deters males from being involved in activities
that they wish to participate in. The fear of being chastised by society often leaves males to resort
to sitting in the student section of the stands removed from the cheerleader s section.
Although there are many hardships and criticisms that come with breaking out of the social norm
there are far more benefits than pitfalls. The males that do decide to be cheerleaders cannot
imagine their lives without the rewards and satisfaction that follow the completion of a routine.
They also gain back self esteem and dignity due to their ability to withstand the harsh remarks and
criticisms. Any man can hold a cheerleader s hand but only the elite can hold her feet. Once friends
of cheerleaders get over

Getting Money Out Of Politics
Larry A. Bates
Professor Jason Rachal
English 101 6 May 2015
Get Money out of Politics Money dominates nearly every aspect of civilized society. The influence
is has in politics could mean the difference between a family having food to eat, or passing
legislation. It is the grease that greases the political machine. Thanks to modern technology, a
candidate must raise a lot of money to be competitive in their campaign. Most of that funding goes
to television, internet, and radio advertising which can decide the result of an election. Though
money is crucial for a politician s ability to get their message out to as many voters as possible, it
has many unintended consequences. Candidates must pander to potential donors to get their ... Show

Though FECA was meant to reduce the influence of donations from corporations and special
interest groups, spending on campaigns has increased. Former FEC commissioner Bradley
Smith states, Congressional election contributions by political action committees (PACs)
increased from $20,500,000 in 1976 to $189,000,000 in 1994 (Smith 3). Since FECA was
enacted, those who claim the legislation is unconstitutional have been attacking its purpose. On
Citizen s United vs. FEC the Supreme Court ruled prohibition on corporate independent
expenditures is an outright ban on speech (para. 9). The ruling claimed that money equaled free
speech. It gives the wealthy and special interest groups a too much influence over Congress. The
rich and special interest groups should not have a louder voice than the average citizen. When it
comes to legislation, money has more influence in whether bills pass than public opinion.
Elected officials are more likely to vote in favor of what their donors want over what the public
want. The Koch Brothers are planning to spend almost $900 million on the upcoming elections
(New York Times. 1). Such an amount is nearly more than both parties have raised combined. The
2016 presidential election is looking like it is going to be the most expensive in history (NYT. 1).
Two people should not have power to sway elections. An article by Jocelyn Benson of Wayne state
university law school says Ensuring that private interests could not seize control of the

The Historical Existence Of Jesus Essay
Introduction
Some scholars argue that evidence of Jesus of Nazareth s existence can only be found within the
writings of the New Testament. They believe that the New Testament is a biased and unreliable
source for the existence of Jesus. They therefore claim that Jesus did not exist. The historical
existence of Jesus is necessary to demonstrate the truth of Christianity. While Christian scholars do
not discount the reliability of the New Testament as a historical document, they are also able to
point to other historical documents and consider non Christian writings which support the existence
of Jesus. In this paper I will argue that Jesus the Nazarene was an actual, historical person and that
this can be demonstrated through extra Biblical resources.
Tacitus
Tacitus, perhaps the greatest Roman historian, provides us with an account of the fire of Rome.1 It
is within this account, recorded in The Annals, that Tacitus mentions Jesus. In chapters 38 through
45 of Annals 15, Tacitus discusses how Nero implicated Christians as those responsible for the fire.
But neither human resourcefulness nor the emperor s largesse nor appeasement of the gods could
stop belief in the nasty rumor that an order had been given for the fire. To dispel the gossip Nero
therefore found culprits on whom he inflicted the most exotic punishments. These were people
hated for their shameful offences whom the common people called Christians. The man who gave
them their name, Christus, had been executed

Kerbstone In Pompeii
In the summer of 79 A.D., Mount Vesuvius erupted, earning its infamy by destroying Pompeii and
many surrounding Roman towns in southern Italy. This volcanic disaster, considered one of the
worst in history, buried the ancient Roman city of Pompeii under a carpet of volcanic ash. When
archeologists and explorers rediscovered the site, they found that under the ruins, dust, and debris,
Pompeiiwas fairly intact. The remains of the buildings, artifacts, and skeletons led researchers to
piece together what daily life would have been like prior to the eruption. Author Robert Harris and
director Paul Anderson both attempt to recreate this catastrophic event through their novel and
movie, respectively, both given the title Pompeii. Harris and Anderson... Show more content on

To ensure the correct layout, a helicopter was flown over the ruins to capture aerial views to use
in the film INSERT FOOTNOTE. During the movie, it was noted that the cobblestone roads and
street vendors alongside were identical to what was expected to be seen during the time. Eric
Poehler discusses the purpose of kerbstones and stepping stones in his article The Circulation of
Traffic in Pompeii s Region VI , explaining how kerbstones were raised higher than the roads
because of flooding, and stepping stones were placed throughout streets so that people could
cross without getting dirty because of the lack of a proper sewage system INSERT FOOTNOTE.
In the film, Anderson included shots of many people crossing these stepping stones. Additionally,
Anderson accurately depicted the street life during the day. Towards the beginning of the movie,
the streets were shown crowded with townspeople, many of whom were purchasing goods from
bakeries or walking to and from work. Kellum supports this representation in her article Spectacle
of the Street INSERT FOOTNOTE. Lastly, the construction of the houses, villas, and temples,
resembled those described in literary sources. For example, the villa of the heroine, Cassia,
accurately reflects her family s wealth by the design of the interior. The peristyle was extravagant,
filled with lush greenery and ornately decorated columns.

Reflection On Civic Mirror
Civic Mirror Final Reflection Assignment 1) After playing Civic Mirror for three years, I
learned lessons that I never would have imagined of learning in grade 10 civics. The most
important thing I discovered was the significance of participating and posessing initiative in
order to be a successful member of society. During the first year, I did not make many trades as I
had little money, was too nervous to raise my concerns in Town Hall and did not find it
important to sue anyone in National Court. Along with preventing me from obtaining a high
score, not participating restricted me from enjoying myself in Civic Mirror like others did.
However, once I increased my participation and took the initiative to trade, I found that my grade
in Civic Mirror increased, I looked forward to come to class and I spoke with people whom I had
never talked to before. Secondly, Civic Mirror helped me realize the necessity of having a
source of income in order to be a prosperous citizen. During the auction, I did not buy a hex as I
had very little money and could not afford it. Although the money I had originally been given
sufficed me for the first year, the lack of money made it very difficult to fulfill my family s needs
for the next two years. This experience allowed me to understand that when I grow up and become
a self sufficient member of society, it is extremely important that I have a secure source of income.
Along with helping me fulfill my needs, the money that I

Transversal Communication In A White Heron s A White Heron
Unlike the hunter who concerns nonhuman or other humans merely for his own benefit, Sylvia
tries to understand other species. When the young man is ignorant of how the family feels and
keeps on asking Sylvia about the heron as if she is only a tool, Sylvia is watching a toad and
guessing that the hop toad may want to reach its hole. In contrast to the sportsman s eagerness in
extending his collection of birds (p. 200), Sylvia feels for the little creature, just as she enters into
the thoughts of the birds in the boughs, wondering if they are saying goodnight...in sleepy twitters
(p. 198). Whereas the male violently takes the singing creature down from the bough, Sylvia

Sylvia manages to attain transversal communication with other life forms including her cow, the
white heron and the old tree. All these friends help Sylvia to develop her identity through her bond
with her natural landscape. In return, she must do something for the heron. She ought not to give
its life away and must allow it to continue to live (p 203). After her internal conflict between the
rapport with nature and the awakening interest in the opposite sex, Sylvia secures her purity and
strength by refusing to surrender to the hunter and remaining in nature. Indeed, the reader can
hardly not appreciate the spirit of adventure and rejoice at the fancied triumph for Sylvia and the
ecosystem (p. 201).

Using the internet to socialise is an increasingly popular activity. Some of the most popular

Setting For Treasure Island On The California Coast
As I ease into the yellowish water, sandy running shoes around my neck and small dog wriggling
under my arm, I become aware of a faint and unfamiliar sour musky odor. This better be worth it.
I expect it will be. One time Sonoma County resident Robert Louis Stevenson is said to have
developed the setting for Treasure Island on the California coast. For many of my generation and
older, that is the tale that launched a thousand ships, pirate vessels all, in dreams of sudden and
incalculable wealth. Decades later, any hope of sudden material wealth has slipped away like fog
under a midmorning sun. But a greater wealth hinted at in the book remains, even if it is only
attainable during the odd vacation week every year the wealth of enriching experience and wonder.
Which brings me back to the Sonoma coast and Gualala Point Regional Park. The park is a
County facility, and offers one of the shrinking number of public beaches where dogs are
welcome. Provided they are on six foot leashes, that is. Such a diminishment of the dog s world is
nothing compared to that of the snowy plover s. The plover is a six inch sandpiper, nearly invisible
in its shoreline environment, whose very existence is uncertain due to development of California s
coast and trampling of beaches and dunes and cryptic eggs in the sand. A dog s merry chase may
seem harmless no bird caught, ever and yet still doom another chance for a tiny bird s future.
So we were happy to be on the beach with our dogs,

Developing Sustainable Fiscal Policies And Implementing A...
A budget can be described as an allocation mechanism that the Government uses to distribute a
nation s resources amongst different economic sectors that serve or are existent within a
country. The major source of Government resources distributed is taxes paid by resident or
citizens of a given country. A budget is one tool that has a lot of political and economic
significance since it controls a Government s expenditures and it lays out a path that the economy
will follow or at least try to follow in a given year. The Government, being the main board
governing or running a country has a major role of developing sustainable fiscal policies and
ensuring or try to achieve economic growth and it is through budgeting that these goals can be
successful achieved. A budget translate a Government s policies, political commitments, and goals
into decisions on how much revenue to raise, how it plans to raise the revenue, and how to use
these funds to meet the country s competing needs and these may include improving the country s
security, alleviating poverty, improving health care among other things. Budgeting is of great
economic and political significance because a Government s budget directly or indirectly affects
the lives of every citizen or resident. Considering the fact that it is the people that have the power
to decide the political life of the political party running the country, the Government would want to
prepare a budget that directly deals with the issues that are of

The Usa Patriot Act By John Walker
Nonetheless, the alarm of the terrorists ought not to make Americans surrender their lifestyle.
Americans ought not to be compelled to yield what our nation is glad for, including majority rules
system and opportunity of representation. On account of the University of California San Diego
(UCSD) organization banning the connection to the terrorist site, the USA Patriot Actwas translated
mistakenly. Their choice to boycott the hyperlink was an infringement of the right to speak freely.
A connection to a site ought not to be seen as correspondences gear.

Then again, the UCSD understudies pay for the right to gain entrance, accordingly providing for
them their own particular rights to the right to gain entrance and how they utilize it. In the event
that the colleges were giving the server access to the understudies free of charge, then it would be
an alternate story. Yet, since the understudies are paying for the right to gain entrance, they get
rights through the exchange. Case in point, the vast majority would concur that the college would
not be permitted to preclude understudies from connecting to a site which condemned the college.
In spite of the fact that, if UCSD contended that they claim the server and they can confine their
clients however they see fit, how is this contention not the same as the case close by?
The Americans dread of terrorists ought not to make them surrender what their nation is about. The
United States is about vote based system and opportunity of articulation. There is no compelling
reason to yield flexibility of statement with a specific end goal to stop the terrorism. Regardless of
the fact that the terrorism is decreased on the grounds that individuals were eager to surrender their
own particular rights, then the US will wind up with an alternate real issue which could adversely
influence the nation considerably more. That issue would be that the flexibility of declaration
would be significantly more confined. In the event that higher

Tickner And Sjoberg
Tickner and Sjoberg s presentation of feminist thought within International Relations scholarship
provides a compelling, if somewhat brief, introduction to the interdisciplinary nature of
contemporary political science. The two argue that the disciplinary primacy of rationalist, black box
approaches waned as international relations scholars began employing sociologyand interpretive
methods to their work (DKS, 180 181). From this diversion, feminist theories of international
relations were constructed. I found the authors discussion of this Third Debate to be particularly
interesting, as I knew little regarding the roles and development of reflectivist and critical theory
before reading this section (DKS, 180). As my interests lie heavily... Show more content on

First, feminist political movements began emerging in the early twentieth century at Seneca Falls
and Hull House. Why were these empowerment movements largely ineffectual within academic
circles? In summation, why did International Relations wait until the 1980s and 1990s to view the
world through a woman s eyes? Explanations which seem reasonable include the male dominated
nature of academia, alongside the prevalence of rationalist thought after the birth of the discipline.
Furthermore, the comparatively late formation of International Relations as a field of study may
have slowed its progress toward inclusivity and experience sharing. Secondly, if classical realists are
truly focused upon the structure of communities based upon the health of their relationships, how is
it possible that gender relations were not one of Thucydides main concerns? The most basic

I think that Julie will have more difficulty with the consonants because they are mostly found in
higher pitch areas of the speech banana. They also are softer being found on the lower decibel
range. Both of these areas are difficult areas for Julie to perceive those speech sounds.
3. Do you think that the home situation of the child has much influence on the child s speech
abilities and if so, how has this child s family influenced her speech abilities, based on what you
know about them?
Family involvement and influence is one of the top reasons for a child to either struggle or excel
with language and communication. From what I read there is a lack of support in the home. This
is mostly because of the age and condition of the hearing aids.
It is frequently found that a child with mild to moderate hearing loss such as Julie, can struggle
even more than a child with severe to profound hearing loss. This is because a child with mild to
moderate hearing loss is denied assistance or lacks proper diagnosis due to their ability to
understand some of the time. In Julie s case it is possible that the low IQ diagnosis was daunting to

How Does Lucy Pevensie Discover Narnia
C.S. Lewis s portrayal of the land Narnia as the character Lucy Pevensie discovers another world
in The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and The Wardrobe serve as an example of
J.R.R Tolkien s claim of the greatest desire: escape from reality. Any primordial desire a human
has that they cannot achieve is the starting point of a journey. The first view of Narnia suggests
a winter wonderland; however, the reason for why it is winter will be later explained in the
story. C.S. Lewis formulates the order at which each of the Pevensie children discovers Narnia.
Lucy is the first to come across the other world simply by wondering around the house. She is the
youngest and her curiosity leads her into discovering another world. However, after her venturing
in Narnia and informing her siblings of what lies beyond the wardrobe; she is told that it was all
her imagination. She could travel through space and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Two of the possibilities are those that are not in her character to do, so all that is left is the third
possibility: the truth. The reader can also interpret that there is a possibility that Professor Kirke
has also discovered Narnia; however, neither Peter or Susan take that possibility into
consideration. The two elder children s disbelief of their sister s explanation suggests another
connection between children and fairy tales from Tolkien s point of view. The claim from Tolkien
s The Tolkien Reader justifies Lucy s claim of Narnia being real as he specifies Children s
knowledge of the world is often so small that they cannot judge, off hand and without help, between
the fantastic, the strange (that is rare or remote facts), the nonsensical, and the merely grown up

The Church s Showdown With Galileo
The Roman Catholic Church has been seen, by many, as a villain in the world for many centuries.
The Church s showdown with Galileo in court is quite possibly the greatest standoff between faith
and science that history has seen (Cowell). A common view of the establishment is that the Church
is led by corrupt, old men who are strongly oppose scientific advancement if the science disagrees
with the Church doctrine. It was all because, according to the Popeand bishops, Galileo s pretended
discovery vitiated the whole Christian plan of salvation (qtd. in Battershall). Coming out of the dark
ages, the church had prevented scientific achievement under the belief that people s time was better

Galilei s schooling began when he was twelve, his father enrolled him in a monastery school
(Langford). This second fact displays that religion was equally as important to his family as

During the 16th century, Nicolaus Copernicus was a very influential astronomer, whom Galileo
Galilei, an aspiring scientist in that field, admired and studied diligently. Copernicus theorized that
the Earth rotated around the sun, also known as the heliocentric theory (Paolucci and Brophy). This
was in contrast to the Ptolemaic theory (and Catholic doctrine) that everything else in our galaxy
pivoted around the Earth. Galileo spent his life attempting to prove the Copernican Theory.
In 1609, Galileo, using knowledge he gained from time in the Netherlands, improved on the
previously invented telescope. He presented the new model to the Venetian senate in August.
Using the telescope, he found a new star, one which was very supportive of the Copernican theory
( Galileo Galilei ). In Galilei s published writing, The Starry Messenger, he states the following:
Here we have a fine and elegant argument for quieting the doubts of those who, while accepting
with tranquil mind the revolutions of the planets about the sun in the Copernican system, are
mightily disturbed to have the moon alone revolve about the earth and accompany it in an annual
rotation about the sun.

create new and innovative ways of conserving these necessities without drastically changing our
social lifestyles. Demographically, the increase in age of the average United States citizen has

years on April 1, 2000, to 35.9 years on July 1, 2003. Now, in 2007, it is reported that the U.S

balance between competency in skills, and application of ethics that will help promote the
provision of the quality of care to the public (Harris, 2008). However, there are ethical health care

The validity of the informed consent should consist of three factors. First, the patient is competent
to give an informed consent by verbalizing or acknowledging understanding of the nature of the
treatment plans. Second, the patient should give consent willfully without an undue influence or
threat from other individuals. Third, the patient should receive full disclosure, including the risks,
and benefits of the treatment plans from his or her physician (McInroy, 2005).
The ethical principles of beneficence, and nonmaleficence from a patient who is refusing blood
transfusion believed that refusal of this treatment would honor the benefits over harm. Based on
the values practiced among the Jehovah s Witness members, the harm resulting from receiving
the blood transfusion will cause a dismissal in achieving an eternal salvation. Nevertheless, the
harm resulting from refusing the blood transfusion will create less harm, which is the end of one
s mortal life on earth. The belief of the Jehovah s Witness members pertains to a rational decision,
which the eternal salvation preferred substantially compared with the additional years of
temporary life on earth (Macklin, 2003). The ethical principle of justice from a patient pertains to
a fair, and equal provision of respect regardless of the patient s cultural or religious beliefs.

The Argument Of Free Will
Philosophers have debated and struggled with the argument of free will for centuries. In my
opinion, I would like to believe that we have free will because I would hope that my decisions are

there have been many theories or speculations about free will. Some philosophers would define free

most of the time we can do what we want. However, we could be made to believe that it is our
choice, but if we were to repeat a scenario where you choose option A we would repeatedly pick
option A because it could not happen any other way. Different religions

Comparison in Curriculum between England and Finland
Education both influences and reflects the values and aspirations of a society. It is therefore
important to recognise a set of common aims, values and purposes that underpin a school
curriculum and the work of schools in a range of countries (DfE, 2008). This comparative study
will explore the curricula of England and Finland discussing the history, structure and contents; and

Across the three years of vocational education, students are required to achieve 120 points
equivalent to 40 points per year, with one point equal to 40 hours of study. 90 credits are gained
through the vocational studies, 20 credits are gained through study of the core curriculum subjects

Following the brief outline of the English and Finnish curricula, the question still stands: Which
curriculum is more suited to preparing people for life in the modern society?
It can be argued that the English curriculum does help educate young adults for the modern society
that England has established. Through the compulsory study of issues such as sex education and
careers education, individuals leave education with a thorough knowledge of the current
contemporary issues and needs of their society. However, unlike Finland, the English curriculum
does not allocate resources for vocational training in the compulsory education sector. For those
who do wish to train on a vocational subject, they must chose to undertake training outside of
compulsory education i.e. after the leaving secondary school. Therefore it must be argued that the
curriculum of Finland best suits individuals for life in the modern society. Not only does the FNBE

The Monster or Beauty of Advertisement Essay
In life, nothing is hardly ever clear, as if there s never just one side over the other, but more
commonly a mix of both. This idea applies to something that appears in almost everyone s life,
advertisements. For every TV owner, laptop user, or shopper, it s nearly impossible to escape the
grasp of advertisements. But a current controversy that catching people s attention is the idea that
advertisements can possibly be manipulative instead of the expected persuasive advertisement. In

When looking at Kilbourne s two premises it is easy to agree with premise one, that commercials
do degrade women, but there doesn t seem to be the connection between women being degraded, to
these commercials being manipulative. In the printed ad Cigarette Women, there is a small picture
with a male and female actress, not very clear, but still noticeable. To the ignorant eye, it would
be viewed as harmless, but in the eyes of Kilbourne it speaks so much more. The position of the
women in the picture could be seen as helpless and dependent on the man who has a powerful
stance. The clothes on these two models could be seen in a similar way with the man being fully
clothed in a business, while the woman is in a short white dress. These are two factors that do show
this picture to be degrading and provocative, but it isn t manipulating.
Manipulation can be seen with having the traits of being forceful, by being tricky, or to falsify for
one owns advantage. This picture of the man and the women is not forceful by any means, is does
not threaten or pump fear in the minds of the audience. There doesn t seem to be anything falsified
to be tricky for the advertisement company s own good. So Kilbourne s idea that by degrading
women these companies are manipulative, is false. They use the factors of persuasion by inducing,
or prevail, or urge on successfully. The urge is created by the

will be retreated. Many of the foreign capital aim to enter Gulf region for investing and financing,
especially from international banks, because of the economic and high commercial growth in these
countries (Aleqt, 2007). In addition, it has been mentioned by Aleqt report (2207) that the Gulf
States are aspirated by many of the foreign capital, many of international and western banks plan
and keen to enter this market in order to finance the growth economic and participate in
infrastructure. Gulf states will spend billions of dollars in the coming years. In contrast, in the case

Essay about Art Therapy
If there was one thing about kindergarten and grade school that we enjoyed the most would
probably be arts and crafts time. We got a break from the mind boggling math problems, but we
also could have time to draw pictures of whatever we wanted to take home to our parents. You
know the routine....teacher places a blank sheet of paper in front of you, decorates the table
with tons of crayons and markers, and lets us go at it for a good twenty minutes or so until we
have a finished product, right? But if you take a deeper look at the portraits drawn, is it just a
harmless picture that a five year old drew or does it have deeper meaning to it. You know the old
cliche: A picture is worth 1,000 words , well art therapyreally supports this... Show more content on

Their normal way of communicating is through art and play. therapist Rebecca McGrath
The therapist ask the patients to draw what they feel about the situation and from there they can
start to make progress toward the recovery period of the situation. The problem with the children is
that when the incident happens they begin to build up a wall between their unconscious and the
outside world. Almost as if they are putting up a defense mechanism that prevents themselves from
allowing anything to happen like that again. That is where the drawing comes in.
Drawing is a way for the unconscious to break down the wall. Sexual abuse is always a secret. It s
pounded into their heads, `Don t talk about it. Then they come in, and they think, `well, maybe I
can draw about it. therapist Rebecca McGrath
This method is not only proven successful on young children but it is also used on adults who have
sexually abused children. Using the art that the offender s draw, some therapists can confront and
determine why the offender has awkward viewpoints towards children.
Sometimes an offender will draw a child as a very provocative, sexual person, lots of makeup. You
then ask, `How old is this person? They say, `Six. then you can say, `Does this look like a 6 year
old child? therapist Rebecca McGrath
The practicing of art therapy has risen noticeably in the last ten years. The number of therapists

Analysis Of The Odd Couple
Overall, the female and male versions of the tragicomedy show, The Odd Couple , had many
similarities and had had the same basic story lines. The main character, Felix and Florence, each
were going through a divorce. They each move in with their friend, Oscar and Olive, because
they have also recently went through a divorce and feel lonely living in such a huge place alone.
The friends of both Felix and Florence are concerned that they would kill themselves at the
beginning of the show; they both swallowed a bottle of green pills, but ended up getting them
out of their system before it did any harm to them. Felix and Florence end up being extremely
emotional clean freaks while Oscar and Olive are more chill and sloppy, these differences
caused confrontations with them living together. They try to ease the tension by going on dates
with Eventually it becomes too much and Oscar and Olive kick Felix and foreigners that live in
the same building as them. During their date , both Felix and Florence tell their dates about the
problems and they end up crying together over their past spouses. Florence out, where there run
away to the foreign couple that they meet earlier in the show. The Show ends the same way it
begins, with the guys at their guys night and the girls at their girls night. Although the overall
story was the same for both shows, where were some major differences as well as some minor
ones that I noticed while watching them. One of the major ones was that the guys were playing
poker while the girls with playing trivial pursuit. This caused for a large chuck of earlier scenes
to have some differences that pertained to the different games that were being played. Oscar
and Olive both were low on money, especially in the beginning, but for different reasons. Oscar
gambled away a lot of his money, and Olive sent large amounts of money to her ex husband. The
lengths of the marriages were different too, Felix s marriage had lasted for 12 years, where
Florence s marriage lasted for 14 years. When Felix finally broke the glass mug out of frustration,
it broke lightly, in a few large pieces that all stayed on the stage. When Florence broke he mug, it
shattered into many tinier pieces and even splashed up

The Challenges Of The Construction Industry
INTRODUCTION
Some of the challenges the construction industry faces are the lack of skills and needing to ensure
that there are available resources. The skills shortage in construction ranges from a shortage of
bricklayers to a shortage of quantity surveyor.
This shortage isn t just in the numbers available but also a shortage of those are skilled in their
field, meaning that most of the workers lack experiences. This will reduce the speed in which the
industry grows which then may affect the contribution that the industry has on the UK economy.
The resources available to the industry are depleting, which means that alternative methods of
construction need to be considered. One of the resources that the industry is exhausting in river ...

The report will include the different regulations that intermediate floors must meet, when compared
to an intermediate floor in a non domestic setting.
REVIEW
MARKET SECTOR AND APPLICATION
Sound transmission would be a driver for the need to use acoustic insulation on intermediate floors.
There are two types of sound, two sources. Airborne sound and Impact sound. Airborne sound is
vibrations generated from a source, like speech and loudspeakers, which is then transmitted through
the air. These vibrations cannot go through a floor. However, they do cause vibrations within them,
which cause the air on the other side of the floor to vibrate. It is these vibrations that cause the
sound. The way to reduce these vibrations is to increase the mass of the floor. Therefore, concrete
has a better sound resistance than timber.
Whereas impact sounds are sounds that are caused by something coming into contact with the floor.
Such as footsteps. The vibrations caused by impact sound can also cause some airborne sounds in
objects attached to or resting on the floor.
Sound can transmit through a floor in two way, directly or indirectly. Direct transmission is when
the floor transmits the sound from one side to another. Indirect transmission is when the sound uses
other elements attached to the floor. Concrete is generally good at limiting both direct and indirect
noise.
Therefore,

Zeffirelli And Hamlet Comparative Essay
When examining Kenneth Branagh s (1996) and Franco Zeffirelli s (1990) film of Hamlet both
directors interpret William Shakespeare s work quite differently. Both films excel in different
aspects demonstrating strengths and weaknesses on either side. Branagh explores Hamlet as a
vengeful character somewhat more as Shakespeare had intended. Zeffirelli emphasizes the dialogue
in the film using the tone rather than developing the character based on hatred. However despite the
films differences they both effectively capture the overall essence of indecision leading to personal
tragedy. Hamlets inability to take decisive action ultimately results in many of the characters
dying, including himself. Scenes such as Hamlet s To be or Not to be soliloquy in Act III, Scene I;
the dueling scene between Hamlet and Laertes in Act V, Scene II; and the bedroom... Show more

By looking in the mirror, he uses it as a self confidence method to reassure himself about his plan
of revenge. Branagh s continuous efforts remain constant throughout the movie where his anger
and revenge get the better of him. His soliloquy the anger that Hamlet has towards his father s
murder. Branagh continuously illustrates his discontent for his mother and uncle. Nonetheless,
Zeffirelli sets the scene with Hamlet played by Mel Gibson surrounded by corpses, ideal for the
thought of suicide. Even so this appears to be the most sane depiction of Hamlet, as he doesn t
truly seem to be contemplating suicide. Gibson begins his soliloquy already aware of the fact that
he has no intention of murdering himself. Instead, he laments his belief that suicide is not a choice.
Gibson places less importance on the opening line, allowing the viewer to concentrate on the
significance of the soliloquy in a way of making it look like a man just thinking to

Competitive Environment And Maintaining Customer...
1.0Introduction
In today s competitive environment, maintaining customer relationships is a key to business
success because customers are considered as important strategic resources of a business. However,
all business markets contain many subgroups of customers that behave differently, that have
different ambitions, and have different purchasing behaviours. Hence each subgroup must be
treated differently in order to build strong customer relationships. To compete with rival businesses,
it is vital for a business to know enough about their customers and to know the wants and needs of
the customers.

Monkey s Paw
The exposition of The Monkey s Paw by W.W. Jacobs creates a warm and comfortable mood in
the ready through the author s diction, depicting the White family as innocent despite their
arguable greed in using the monkey s paw. Immediately, Jacobs describes the setting of a majority
of the story as a comfortable one: The night was cold and wet, but in the small parlour of
Laburnam Villa the blinds were drawn and the fire burned brightly (Jacobs 1). In contrast with the
cold, wet night outside, the home is a safe and warm environment, causing the reader to feel
comfortable and creating some trust between the reader and the characters of the story. Mrs. White,
whose name itself defends the family s innocence, watches over her husband and son s

Over Population Solution
The biggest threat to humans today is the rapid growth of the human population. Not many people
know about how over population is effecting the environment and the few people who do don t
know what to do to help. Over population is the greatest non issue of the past 100 years unless you
count global warming (Blair 27). Over humanpopulationhas been over looked for years. In order to
solve this problem we must come up with a solution. There is not only one solution, but a good
start is to make contraceptives more available for third world countries.
Human overpopulation has been overlooked by many people for many years. It is ignored due to
that fact that they can get away with [ignoring] it. According to James Lovelock, an
environmental scientist, the growth of population gets ignored because people choose and want
to ignore it (Fritzgeral 38). When you re out with friends or family you talk about your favorite
shows, sports teams, and occasionally when on serious topics job prospects (Harte 14). There s
no mention of the massive increase in population or climate change. It s a topic that can easily be
passed or forgotten because of the fact that it is rarely spoken about. Another reason
overpopulation is looked past is because the majority of people don t think it s important due to the
fact that they have not been affected in a negative way because of it. Or that they will be dead
before anything serious happens. However there are numerous reasons that it is important

Voyeurism And Themes Of Hitchcock
Voyeurism Sexuality
Hitchcock often created film masterpieces, these films always have similar themes that Hitchcock
himself was personally fascinated with. Two of these themes happen to be his most notable are
the theme of voyeurism and the theme of sexuaily. Hitchcock has always created his films to
reflect his own ideas of how he has perceived these ideas, these themes were almost seemly an
obsession to him as they are so prevalent. Voyeurism is the one theme that people associate him
with the most, as it is Hitchcock s film techniques that bring it to life to the audience, Sexuaily, is
something that Hitchcock almost always adds in his films because they bring the characters
together and he draws on that aspect to fulfill a set ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Women were often seen as the weaker sex, this was a way for Hitchcock to put them up as a
strong independent being who was in charge of her own fate. These are the type of women, that
men are often warned about and Hitchcock also uses that idea with his male main characters, as
they either embrace that aspect of the women or are fearful of her. It s a way to play with the
dynamics between two characters by giving them a relationship that can be used in the plot, to
create a turmoil at some point. Sex is a powerful thing and Hitchcock never shies away from that
idea, he embraces it within his films.
Rear Window, has always one of my personal favorite movie by Hitchcock because it has
everything I want in a movie. A plot full of a possible murder, wonderful characterdynamics,
interesting characters, the music and the way it was filmed. All speak to me, personally in a
way that makes me adore this film. It s how it was filmed however that really drew me into the
movie as a whole, because every scene is so well connected with each and the techniques used
were incredible creative. It also had some personal value, as it was one of the first films by
Hitchcock that I saw growing up. Rear Window is also particularly known for the themes of
voyeurism and sexuality, as it seen in the movie as a plot device due to the nature of the character
and the situations they find themselves in. These two themes were brought in so they could

Culture In The Nacirema
I believe culture is the attitudes and feelings a group of people share. Culture can include
practices like rituals and customs like religion. It is how you eat, drink, and speak. Culture can
be either tacit or explicit. Tacit is very much like an unspoken behavior, it is something people
lack words for. Explicit culture can be spoken or written. No matter what category culture falls
into it truly makes us different from one another. It is everywhere shaping people all around the
world every day. The Nacirema May sound like strange a tribe, but if you read very closely you
will notice they are not. Nacirema is American spelled backwards and latipso is ospital
backwards which almost spells hospital. In this passage the American people are really the ones
who are being talked about. All the rituals that are spoken of describe our everyday life.
Bathrooms are described as shrines and medicine cabinets as charm boxes. Doctors are referred to
as medicine men and dentists to holy mouth men as they rid the mouth of evils. The story of the
Nacirema really does make a good point about out how we have a ridiculous amount of
medications, and we take unnecessary trips to the hospital too often. Miner, the author is trying to
illustrate the obsessions of the American people like our obsession with self image and health and
how strange and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During culture shock it is unclear what is proper and how to act (Spradley). I see female
circumcision as the main things that contributed to Katherine Dettwylewr s culture shock. It seems
to be the most alarming thing to her. I also find this practice extremely alarming and have never
heard of it before. Female genital mutilation seems so wrong to me, first of all because it is
dangerous and cause females to be even more susceptible to infection and also because no one
should have to go through intense pain like that

Farmer s Market
What is a common American food market? To me, an International student from China, the first
impression of American markets is the large dense stores like Wal Marts that include all kind of
food and supplies. It is a wonderful place that has efficiency and cheapness. However, in Michael
Pollan s article Food Fight, he mentions Although cheap food is good politics, it turns out there are
significant costs to the environment, to public health ... food has come back into view. (Pollan 109)
Whereas my opinion about the American markets is great for its convenience, Pollan says the

People that have lower income cannot afford the price of better food; therefore those people
would choose to shop in large groceries for its lower price and larger quantity. In Pollan s word,
supermarkets sell cheap and unhealthy food to consumers while Farmer s Market can afford
consumers better options. However People can still get better organic food in supermarkets at lower
price these days. It actually applies that supermarkets nowadays are serving better quality food
from local farms just as what Pollan s idea of Farmers Market but with wholesale price. Consumers
now prefer supermarkets for its increasing better quality food and stable price.
Also, as I mentioned before, supermarket is really convenient for consumers for not only having
better quality food in lower price but also serving multi options in a large amount. Compare to
the supermarkets, the space of Farmer s Market is limited, which leads to the food options are
limited. Farmer s Market cannot satisfy every consumer s need of food. From what I observed
in Berkley s Farmers Market, the food options is really being restricted. Farmer s can only get
food that is easy to be carried and kept like fruits, vegetables and made up articles for selling, and
consumers, in the other hand, have limited options. Also, not everyone has the ability to get the
food from Farmer s Market for its location and

Lord Of The Flies Figurative Language Essay
No one said anything but the faces turned to Ralph were intent. He flourished the conch. He had
learnt as a practical business that fundamental statements like this had to be said at least twice,
before everyone understood them. One had to sit, attracting all eyes to the conch, and drop words
like heavy round stones among the little groups that crouched or squatted. He was searching his
mind for simple words so that even the littluns would understand what the assembly was about.
Later perhaps, practiced debaters Jack, Maurice, Piggy would use their whole art to twist the

Ralph is very serious about his work and wants to create an organized civilization. However, the
littluns get confused and are not sure what Ralph is saying. This creates a setback for the group.
For instance, it is written above, One had to sit, attracting all eyes to the conch, and drop words
like heavy round stones among the little groups that crouched or squatted. This sentence signifies
that the littluns cannot understand what Ralph is saying and they are not interested in what Ralph
is saying. The use of Golding s simple diction and syntax also infers this tone. It creates the
feeling that the littluns are bored and uninterested in what Ralph is saying. The style choices of
this passage reflect the theme in the novel, power. Power is everywhere on the island and is shown
through different levels throughout the novel. Ralph is chosen as the leader of a democratic
system. Ralph uses his power as a way to create civilization and order in the society. However, the
littluns are bored and uninterested in Ralph for they want to have fun on the island, not to do work.
Throughout the novel, the littluns are apathetic. Consequently, they turn to Jack to be the leader so

Education Is The Most Powerful Weapon
Nelson Mandela one said, Education is the most powerful weapon we can use to change the
world. Education is not just a term to explain a process of getting instructions. Instead, education
is extremely essential procedure in one s life to have this weapon as explained by Mandela. As
individuals we tend to learn from life experiences and events that go on around us. We not only
learn about how to become successful in life instead we learn how to make a living as we
encounter new individuals and new life lessons that teach us whether how to cook, clean, or even
how to do math. A person cannot only be educated if they have a degree instead we all are
educated in some unique manner whether it is to sew, draw, sing, or even as a doctor which helps
us complete our given task. Schoolis an institution created to discipline and educate students in
order to become more knowledgeable. Many individuals in history and even people now attend
school as it has become a crucial part in our society just like how other places such as hospitals
and stores have in order to meet the needs of the society s members. Many individuals believe
that school is not an essential aspect in life that helps one grow because of how they are being
educated, in which John Gatto is one of them as well. Even though no school is the best for
everyone, it is still needed to help an individual grow emotionally, intellectual, and socially into a
contributing member of society.
Gatto is the author of the article,

  • 2. Profit Vist Non Profit Introduction Whenever looking at financials, a certain level of accountability and understanding is needed to be able to have great measurability of success. That is the case for any individual especially when applying this thought of rational to a business or corporation even more accountability, understanding, and most importantly precision are needed to successfully bring in as well as continue financial sustainability. When dealing within a corporation there are many levels to adhere to within the financial everyday aspects of the corporation being ran with precision. So what happens when an organization is not ran financially like a corporation yet deals with almost the same kind of aspects? A non profit organizationcan be one... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... So how can that definition be taken in? Is a non profit organization just a business trying to avoid paying taxes? That could be the case though let us delve a little deeper. Recognizing Non Profit Organizations Taking a look at non profit organizations will breed a sense of familiarity. Five of the most known and recognizable non profits are National Public Radio (NPR), United Nations Children s Fund (UNICEF), Human Rights Watch (HRW), Wiki Leaks, and Green Peace. These are all organizations we have come across with familiarity, with maybe the exception of Green Peace. As any avid listener of National Public Radio I can attest to the programs being run on the basis of callers calling in and pledging donations to help keep certain programs as well as the station afloat. Some of these other organizations are also based upon donation interaction, however, to label their financial situation as strictly donation base would be an ignorant train of thought. All of these organizations do a great job acquiring revenue to help the operation of the organization. Financial Stability Being financially stable is an issue of any organization or corporation. This is an issue touched on by Padilla, Staplefoote, and Morganti as they state the following the definition of financial sustainability may ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Developmental Appropriate Practices And Jean Piaget s Theory The centers I created focus on physical development and social development. The first center I created is a center for fine/gross motor skills. This center included a Sand and Water Table. This center has many benefits such as socially, cognitively and physically. Physically fine and gross motor skills are improved through water and sand play. Socially playing with the sand and water table encourages sharing, and taking turns. This activity also benefits cognitively by encouraging investigation and problem solving skills. The second center I created is a center for creative development. This center is an art center where kids can put on an art show with their play dough creations. Having an art center in the classroom is very beneficial. Having... For Dap (developmental appropriate practices) is important because it gives teachers/caregivers knowledge about their students development so they can create a lesson or activity that is suitable for the age and stage of development for each of their students. Both the centers I created are for kids around the ages 3 5. So the sand and water table and art show activities are age appropriate. When it comes to my individual goals, will follow the dap guidelines and observe the students exploring the materials and tools. Then document and place in individual portfolios following the same guidelines. When doing research on Jean Piaget s theory, his theory has 4 stages. These stages are, The Sensorimotor Stage: During this stage, infants and toddlers acquire knowledge through sensory experiences and manipulating objects. At this point in development, a child s intelligence consists of their basic motor and sensory explorations of the world. The Preoperational Stage: At this stage, kids learn through pretend play but still struggle with logic and taking the point of view of other people. They also often struggle with understanding the ideal of constancy. The Concrete Operational Stage: Kids at this point of development begin to think more logically, but their thinking can also be very rigid. They tend to struggle with abstract and hypothetical concepts. The Formal Operational Stage: The final stage of Piaget s theory involves an increase in logic, the ability to use deductive reasoning, and an understanding of abstract ideas. At this point, people become capable of seeing multiple potential solutions to problems and think more scientifically about the world around them (Cherry). My activities follow the sensorimotor stage. My students will be exploring certain materials and will start to manipulate objects. For myself, teaching provides an opportunity for continual learning ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Inherent Ethical Dilemma Of A Company The inherent ethical dilemma that presents itself in this case is whether or not it is ethical to cut corners to make a profit. The management is aware of the issue, yet continues to allow the defective drives to be sold in order to attempt to appease the company s new CEO. Is it ethical for a company to sell a defective product in order to avoid loss? The obvious IT component that lends itself to the circumstances of this case takes the form of the defective Hard Drives. However, there are many other possible IT components playing a role in the background. Such components would include an inventory management system and a defect management system, alongside App and Database servers respectively to allow these systems to function properly. Other IT components at work may include a CRM system for ensuring customer satisfaction, a POS system, possibly including hardware such as scanners for sales and returns. Desktops and laptops may also be in use by employees of the company, as well as an Intranet and Extranet to share and access information on those machines. One critical stakeholder in the case is the CEO of PrimeDrive, Mr. Stokes. An important right for him as the head of the company is the right to use his business to generate a profit and run the business as he sees fit. Another stakeholder are the managers of PrimeDrive, who have the right to manage their departments as they envisioned. The consumers are also a critical stakeholder who have the right to receive ... • 5. Why Are The Witches Important In Macbeth In the play of Macbeth, the witches have a major impact on the plot and effect on the man Macbeth. They helped produce the story that generations of people have come to love and, without them, the story would have been completely different. They not only caused Macbeth s power to rise, but they also bring him to his tragic downfall. Through their influence, Macbethtransformed from the war hero that Scotland loved to the brutal tyrant who ruled the land. Due to this, the witches have the biggest impact on the story than any other minor character the audience meets. From the beginning, the witches are well aware of the evil they re about to cause. When the play begins, the audience or reader sees or reads that the sisters are clearly planning something. This becomes obvious when the second witch says that they will meet again when the hurly burly s done, when the battle s lost and won (i.i.4 5). It does not become clear that they will meet again when they talk to Macbeth until a later scene, but when one looks back on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When the sisters tell Macbeth that he will become the new Thane of Cawdor, he knows that the current one does not exactly have to be dead in order for him to replace him; so he thinks nothing of it. However, when they go on to tell him that he will also soon be the new king of Scotland, he begins to worry. There is only one way that he can replace the king: the king has to die and Duncan is still alive at that point. As the scene progresses, the audience or reader sees or reads that he starts to consider the quickest route to him becoming the new king: he has to kill Duncan. Would he have considered killing the king if the witches had not told him of his future? No. Fate would have played out the way it was supposed to without Macbeth turning against him. • 7. Male Cheerleading is a Sport! Essay Male Cheerleading is a Sport! Against popular belief, females were not the founders behind the sport of cheerleading; instead males who were so eager to cheer while watching sporting events created this sport. In the 1890 s the first pep club was organized at Princeton University, and it was there where the first organized yell was recorded. The University of Minnesota organized cheerleading and the first school fight song. Women didn t get introduced to cheerleading until the 1920s when gymnastics was slowly introduced to the sport. Cheerleading didn t become a predominantly woman sport until the 1950 s. People forget that their routines require strength, skill, and coordination. The males in the squad often provide a tremendous source of strength when lifting and throwing their teammates in the air. The strength and coordination required by male cheerleaders is comparable to any male dominated sport, but this fact is often ignored by society. Additionally, our society is generally supportive of females who participate in sports that require the twirling of batons, marching, attractive uniforms, and the recitation of rhymes. However, as soon as a male is introduced into this environment there is thought to be a threat to his masculinity. This often deters males from being involved in activities that they wish to participate in. The fear of being chastised by society often leaves males to resort to sitting in the student section of the stands removed from the cheerleader s section. Although there are many hardships and criticisms that come with breaking out of the social norm there are far more benefits than pitfalls. The males that do decide to be cheerleaders cannot imagine their lives without the rewards and satisfaction that follow the completion of a routine. They also gain back self esteem and dignity due to their ability to withstand the harsh remarks and criticisms. Any man can hold a cheerleader s hand but only the elite can hold her feet. • 8. Getting Money Out Of Politics Larry A. Bates Professor Jason Rachal English 101 6 May 2015 Get Money out of Politics Money dominates nearly every aspect of civilized society. The influence is has in politics could mean the difference between a family having food to eat, or passing legislation. It is the grease that greases the political machine. Thanks to modern technology, a candidate must raise a lot of money to be competitive in their campaign. Most of that funding goes to television, internet, and radio advertising which can decide the result of an election. Though money is crucial for a politician s ability to get their message out to as many voters as possible, it has many unintended consequences. Candidates must pander to potential donors to get their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Though FECA was meant to reduce the influence of donations from corporations and special interest groups, spending on campaigns has increased. Former FEC commissioner Bradley Smith states, Congressional election contributions by political action committees (PACs) increased from $20,500,000 in 1976 to $189,000,000 in 1994 (Smith 3). Since FECA was enacted, those who claim the legislation is unconstitutional have been attacking its purpose. On Citizen s United vs. FEC the Supreme Court ruled prohibition on corporate independent expenditures is an outright ban on speech (para. 9). The ruling claimed that money equaled free speech. It gives the wealthy and special interest groups a too much influence over Congress. The rich and special interest groups should not have a louder voice than the average citizen. When it comes to legislation, money has more influence in whether bills pass than public opinion. Elected officials are more likely to vote in favor of what their donors want over what the public want. The Koch Brothers are planning to spend almost $900 million on the upcoming elections (New York Times. 1). Such an amount is nearly more than both parties have raised combined. The 2016 presidential election is looking like it is going to be the most expensive in history (NYT. 1). Two people should not have power to sway elections. • 9. The Historical Existence Of Jesus Essay Introduction Some scholars argue that evidence of Jesus of Nazareth s existence can only be found within the writings of the New Testament. They believe that the New Testament is a biased and unreliable source for the existence of Jesus. They therefore claim that Jesus did not exist. The historical existence of Jesus is necessary to demonstrate the truth of Christianity. While Christian scholars do not discount the reliability of the New Testament as a historical document, they are also able to point to other historical documents and consider non Christian writings which support the existence of Jesus. In this paper I will argue that Jesus the Nazarene was an actual, historical person and that this can be demonstrated through extra Biblical resources. Tacitus Tacitus, perhaps the greatest Roman historian, provides us with an account of the fire of Rome.1 It is within this account, recorded in The Annals, that Tacitus mentions Jesus. In chapters 38 through 45 of Annals 15, Tacitus discusses how Nero implicated Christians as those responsible for the fire. But neither human resourcefulness nor the emperor s largesse nor appeasement of the gods could stop belief in the nasty rumor that an order had been given for the fire. To dispel the gossip Nero therefore found culprits on whom he inflicted the most exotic punishments. These were people hated for their shameful offences whom the common people called Christians. The man who gave them their name, Christus, had been executed ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Kerbstone In Pompeii In the summer of 79 A.D., Mount Vesuvius erupted, earning its infamy by destroying Pompeii and many surrounding Roman towns in southern Italy. This volcanic disaster, considered one of the worst in history, buried the ancient Roman city of Pompeii under a carpet of volcanic ash. When archeologists and explorers rediscovered the site, they found that under the ruins, dust, and debris, Pompeiiwas fairly intact. The remains of the buildings, artifacts, and skeletons led researchers to piece together what daily life would have been like prior to the eruption. Author Robert Harris and director Paul Anderson both attempt to recreate this catastrophic event through their novel and movie, respectively, both given the title Pompeii. Harris and Anderson... During the movie, it was noted that the cobblestone roads and street vendors alongside were identical to what was expected to be seen during the time. Eric Poehler discusses the purpose of kerbstones and stepping stones in his article The Circulation of Traffic in Pompeii s Region VI , explaining how kerbstones were raised higher than the roads because of flooding, and stepping stones were placed throughout streets so that people could cross without getting dirty because of the lack of a proper sewage system INSERT FOOTNOTE. In the film, Anderson included shots of many people crossing these stepping stones. Additionally, Anderson accurately depicted the street life during the day. Towards the beginning of the movie, the streets were shown crowded with townspeople, many of whom were purchasing goods from bakeries or walking to and from work. Kellum supports this representation in her article Spectacle of the Street INSERT FOOTNOTE. Lastly, the construction of the houses, villas, and temples, resembled those described in literary sources. For example, the villa of the heroine, Cassia, accurately reflects her family s wealth by the design of the interior. Reflection On Civic Mirror Civic Mirror Final Reflection Assignment 1) After playing Civic Mirror for three years, I learned lessons that I never would have imagined of learning in grade 10 civics. The most important thing I discovered was the significance of participating and posessing initiative in order to be a successful member of society. During the first year, I did not make many trades as I had little money, was too nervous to raise my concerns in Town Hall and did not find it important to sue anyone in National Court. Along with preventing me from obtaining a high score, not participating restricted me from enjoying myself in Civic Mirror like others did. However, once I increased my participation and took the initiative to trade, I found that my grade in Civic Mirror increased, I looked forward to come to class and I spoke with people whom I had never talked to before. Secondly, Civic Mirror helped me realize the necessity of having a source of income in order to be a prosperous citizen. During the auction, I did not buy a hex as I had very little money and could not afford it. Although the money I had originally been given sufficed me for the first year, the lack of money made it very difficult to fulfill my family s needs for the next two years. This experience allowed me to understand that when I grow up and become a self sufficient member of society, it is extremely important that I have a secure source of income. Along with helping me fulfill my needs, the money that I ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

When the young man is ignorant of how the family feels and keeps on asking Sylvia about the heron as if she is only a tool, Sylvia is watching a toad and guessing that the hop toad may want to reach its hole. In contrast to the sportsman s eagerness in extending his collection of birds (p. 200), Sylvia feels for the little creature, just as she enters into the thoughts of the birds in the boughs, wondering if they are saying goodnight...in sleepy twitters (p. 198). After her internal conflict between the rapport with nature and the awakening interest in the opposite sex, Sylvia secures her purity and strength by refusing to surrender to the hunter and remaining in nature. Setting For Treasure Island On The California Coast As I ease into the yellowish water, sandy running shoes around my neck and small dog wriggling under my arm, I become aware of a faint and unfamiliar sour musky odor. This better be worth it. I expect it will be. One time Sonoma County resident Robert Louis Stevenson is said to have developed the setting for Treasure Island on the California coast. For many of my generation and older, that is the tale that launched a thousand ships, pirate vessels all, in dreams of sudden and incalculable wealth. Decades later, any hope of sudden material wealth has slipped away like fog under a midmorning sun. But a greater wealth hinted at in the book remains, even if it is only attainable during the odd vacation week every year the wealth of enriching experience and wonder. Which brings me back to the Sonoma coast and Gualala Point Regional Park. The park is a County facility, and offers one of the shrinking number of public beaches where dogs are welcome. Provided they are on six foot leashes, that is. Such a diminishment of the dog s world is nothing compared to that of the snowy plover s. The plover is a six inch sandpiper, nearly invisible in its shoreline environment, whose very existence is uncertain due to development of California s coast and trampling of beaches and dunes and cryptic eggs in the sand. Simple Assembly Line Balancing Problem, a hypothetical model which is picking up prevalence, can be executed in large scale manufacturing as its point is to either to diminish the workstations (SALBP 1) or decrease the process duration (SALBP 2). Several papers have been published on this, the first one being formulated as 0 1 math program by Bowman and later modified to four 0 1 formulation by Patterson and Albracht(1975). It is therefore important to recognise a set of common aims, values and purposes that underpin a school curriculum and the work of schools in a range of countries (DfE, 2008). This comparative study will explore the curricula of England and Finland discussing the history, structure and contents; and consider which of the above are more useful in preparing young adults for life in the modern society. With reference to the modern society, it is important to understand that what makes a society modern is entirely a subjective ideology. Following the brief outline of the English and Finnish curricula, the question still stands: Which curriculum is more suited to preparing people for life in the modern society? It can be argued that the English curriculum does help educate young adults for the modern society that England has established. Through the compulsory study of issues such as sex education and careers education, individuals leave education with a thorough knowledge of the current contemporary issues and needs of their society. However, unlike Finland, the English curriculum does not allocate resources for vocational training in the compulsory education sector. For those who do wish to train on a vocational subject, they must chose to undertake training outside of compulsory education i.e. after the leaving secondary school. Therefore it must be argued that the curriculum of Finland best suits individuals for life in the modern society. Not only does the FNBE cover almost every aspect ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This idea applies to something that appears in almost everyone s life, advertisements. For every TV owner, laptop user, or shopper, it s nearly impossible to escape the grasp of advertisements. But a current controversy that catching people s attention is the idea that advertisements can possibly be manipulative instead of the expected persuasive advertisement. When looking at Kilbourne s two premises it is easy to agree with premise one, that commercials do degrade women, but there doesn t seem to be the connection between women being degraded, to these commercials being manipulative. In the printed ad Cigarette Women, there is a small picture with a male and female actress, not very clear, but still noticeable. To the ignorant eye, it would be viewed as harmless, but in the eyes of Kilbourne it speaks so much more. The position of the women in the picture could be seen as helpless and dependent on the man who has a powerful stance. The clothes on these two models could be seen in a similar way with the man being fully clothed in a business, while the woman is in a short white dress. These are two factors that do show this picture to be degrading and provocative, but it isn t manipulating. Manipulation can be seen with having the traits of being forceful, by being tricky, or to falsify for one owns advantage. This picture of the man and the women is not forceful by any means, is does not threaten or pump fear in the minds of the audience. There doesn t seem to be anything falsified to be tricky for the advertisement company s own good. So Kilbourne s idea that by degrading women these companies are manipulative, is false. These vibrations cannot go through a floor. However, they do cause vibrations within them, which cause the air on the other side of the floor to vibrate. It is these vibrations that cause the sound. The way to reduce these vibrations is to increase the mass of the floor. Therefore, concrete has a better sound resistance than timber.
