Judaism Compare And Contrast
The topic I choose to write about is Judaism. Like other religions, there are differences in the
religion. I decided to compare and contrast the different types of Judaism. Writers compare and
contract in order to understand their similarities and differences ( Vandermey 2012 pg. 182 ).
Judaism is a monotheistic religion. Judaismis 3,500 years old, is the oldest of the monotheistic
religions. The first attestation of the word Judaism occurs in 2 Maccabees, a Greek abridgment of
a history of the Maccabean revolt that was written ca. 124 BCE References Satlow, M. L. (2006).
Monotheism is the worship of a single powerful God. The prefix of mono means one. Monotheism
usually tends to affirm the expressions such as absolutism which is the acceptance of or belief in
absolute principles of the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If you really dissect each religion you will find that they have more in common than differences.
They all promote love for God and mankind. The Jewish tradition stems from Abraham s covenant
with God. Jews believe that God made a covenant with Abraham that he would be the father of a
great people if he followed God s instructions. The covenant was the promise God made with
Abraham that his people would be sacred and give them a holy land. Judaism is a tradition
grounded in the religious, ethical, and social laws as they are articulated in the Torah which is the
Jewish holy book. There are several different sects in the Jewish religion such as Reformed,
Conservative, and Orthodox Jews. The main difference between the belief systems is the approach
to Torah and the implications of that approach. It is how a Jewish community interact with Torah
that defines them as Conservative Jews ( Grossman 2005

The Sociological Perspectives
There are many sociologists in the world with many different ways and opinions to understand
society. Some see the world as basically a stable ongoing entity while others see society as
composed of many groups in conflict, competing for scarce resources (Schaefer, p. 13).
Additionally, views of other sociologists believe society is an impressive machine that people take
for granted, the social aspects of everyday life and its routine interactions of one to another. The
three views the functionalist, conflict, and interactionist theoretical perspectives are the ones that
mostly used by sociologists. Let s explore these perspectives first, the Functionalist perspective is
thought of as different things all coming together as a whole (macrosociology)

Qantas s Marketing Strategy And Business Success
Innovation and creativity within the context of a firm s customer s provide the basis for
establishing and developing strong customer relationships, as well as continual business growth and
success. Industry leaders represent good examples that demonstrate just how important customers
are towards creating value for the firm; such is the case with Australia s airline industry where
Qantas, one of the largest and most reputable brands, continuously re evaluates their marketing
strategies in order to stay ahead of the competition.
This report will analyse the purpose, implementation and results of one of Qantas s latest marketing
innovations, in regards to a key marketing concept and sub marketing theories. Links will be drawn

There exist numerous marketing hypotheses and frameworks that aim to better understand why
customer relationships, retention and satisfaction are so important. For example, marketers try to
segregate the different types of customer loyalty, framing them under factors of repeat patronage
and relative attitude . Also, customer loyalty levels are ranked along a loyalty ladder that identifies
the most profitable customers to whom the firm should target marketing strategies towards. Finally,
customer satisfaction, a driver of loyalty, is summarised into a conceptual framework known as
customer response zones . The firm has two major goals in mind when implementing this strategy.
Freed (2014) states Qantas s intentions to ...boost engagement with customers and revenue from its
loyalty partners . It aims to build a culture of engagement associated with positive and personalised
experiences in dealing with the company.
In the context of Qantas, it s latest marketing initiative is the introduction of an online mall as part
of a new Qantas points website that expands its current frequent flyer program (Freed 2014). To

Persuasive Essay On Cosmetic Surgery
Imagine being insecure or unhappy with a certain aspect of your physical appearance. Now
imagine if there were a way to magically fix it, well there is a way and it is not so magical.
Cosmetic surgery is the solution for many men and women who want to change something about
their physical appearance. Many people try to fix something physical to make up for a bigger issue
they have about themselves deeper down. The first thing that is important to know when talking
about elective surgeryis that there is a difference between plastic surgeryand cosmetic surgery.
Plastic surgery is defined as a surgical specialty dedicated to reconstruction of facial and body
defects due to birth disorders, trauma, burns, and disease while cosmetic surgery is the procedures,
techniques, and principles of cosmetic surgery are entirely focused on enhancing a patient s
appearance (Morrison). It is important to know the difference because in this paper, cosmetic
surgery is the focus. Cosmetic surgery includes procedures like liposuction, tummy tucks, face
surgery, and breastsurgery (Morrison). Cosmetic surgery is not a bad thing, many people choose
to partake in these procedures. The issue at hand is not whether or not cosmetic surgery is
necessary, but what cosmetic surgery does to teenagers in our society today. For example,
imagine a teenage girl maybe around age fifteen, women do not fully develop physically until
their twenties, but fifteen year old girls are used to seeing fully developed women in the media.
There are television shows that cast women in their twenties as girls in high school. This is
extremely misleading to girls, because they think they should look a certain way in order to be
conventionally attractive. So imagine this fifteen year old girl begging her parents to look like
everyone else, screaming and crying. Perhaps she has been bullied because other people may
have had surgery. It is hard for parents to say no to their kids when they want something so bad
especially if they are bullied. Say the girl did get the surgery with her parents permission and
everything is fine, she looks how she wanted to. She got breast implants, a couple years down the
road and she gets fully developed. Well now because of

Running A Small Business
Based on my completed skills assessment and other textbook worksheets, a field that might be a
good fit for me is being an entrepreneur of a small business for clothing. Looking at the results of
all the assessments I can think like an entrepreneur and I have the drive, passion, creativity, control,
and ability to take on and face challenges of running a small clothingstore. It will definitely be
difficult, but it is a dream I have had for so long to own my own business and I know I would
love it and never get bored. I can live my lifestyle, put in the hard work, and do something that
interests me and makes me want to work every day. I may not have a lot of experience yet or all

Although I have some knowledge in this field, I do not have the passion or the drive like I do
for clothing. I know my business would fail, because I would be bored, not interested, and
would not want to work. I am also not too good with numbers and I would be stressed out all the
time and focusing on every detail and not the big picture. I know that accounting is extremely
important when it comes to a successful company, so even though I may know how to complete
the books and stay on top of every business activity to make great decisions, I would rather hire a
trustworthy accountant. That way I can focus on my true passion and enjoy my job, while also
having honest financial accounts for my business. I believe there is a field for everyone out there,

Keerti s Heavy Influence In Japan
In Japan, many politicians and important people of power are families who have heavy influence
in Japan s economy through companies for products, television, business, and the like. Through
this financial power in advertisements and influence over what can be placed and expressed in
media, there is power over what is considered and thought about within the country. Keerti explains
that this aspect of Japanese life needs to be revised in order to achieve democracyso that all voices
are heard equally and no voices are left or censored out. Keerti also expresses how political
engagement and civics classes are mandatory within secondary school and college in order to
prepare students to become informed citizens. She says there is room for corruption... Show more

One common aspect across the three personalities is the degradation of the power of the rule by
the elite. All three agree that there is no good democracy that comes from a select group. Not
only because it is the elite in Japan, but it is those in power who are the problem. In Japan, a
majority of the House of Chancellors are passed down through bloodline or company relation.
We cannot be certain that those individuals are trained and knowledgeable in the problems in the
political view. However, this also brings up the concern of public awareness of political issues.
Today, according to Ikeda, Kohno, and Yamada s studies on citizen understanding political
concepts between 1960 1990, many Japanese citizens feel that they had no say in political
decision making and that they were not well educated in the policies and issues being discussed.
As we discussed in class, this is a common problem amongst democracy as a whole, not having a
well educated, well informed general public voting. Finally, the aspect of religious liberty brought
within the political spectrum. Although this contradicts John Locke s beliefs of keeping the politic
and religious spheres separate, this unity of religion ties together an ideal form of democracy for all
three individuals. It is through applying Buddhist values into Japanese government that would

Buddhism s Life Changing Experience
Buddhism Buddhism is a life changing experience that can help people change their life for the
better as it creates a happier and healthier environment. By the end of this summer I will have
been a Buddhist for over four years now and I can honestly say that it has made a huge impact on
my life. I have become a less stressed and more relaxed person from applying the Dharma basic
principles to my everyday routine. Dharma has helped me create my own enlightenment path to
eliminating my anger and transgression. After I made the change from Lutheran to Buddhismit has
help me get through a lot of problems that I never could stop dwelling over and even just little
everyday problems. When I had first heard about Buddhism it was on TV from then on I was
intrigued. Coming from a family that never paid much attention to religion, never having been to
church and only praying on thanksgiving I never had much interest in religion until I started
researching about Buddhism. From then on I started to practice the teachings of Buddha and
began to somewhat master so on the lessons but there are still something that I have yet to
accomplish with college I haven t had much time to practice and there are said to be lessons that
take some Buddhist almost a live time to accomplish. By following Buddha s path it has allowed
me to develop a self awareness by seeing one s self and changing ones point of view. Teaching me
to stop expecting so much because in truth live has not even promised to

Literary Uses Of Literary Devices In Poetry And Language
Poetry is known to be a creative thought or impassioned feeling using language and is expressed
in many places in the world. A poem can have many different meanings according to how an
individual interprets it. Various literary devices are used to bring out that interpretation and the
sense of what the person thinks that is going to happen. In the poem Saturday at the Canal by Gary
Soto and Nothing Better by The Postal Servicethe theme is sometimes in life you may go through
tough times but it is up to you whether they will continue. Some literary devices that show the
coming up from tough times are figurative language, imagery, and the mood of the poems/songs.
Figurative language is one literary device that supports the theme of coming back from tough
times. In Saturday at the Canal the speaker is in school and is going through a tough life and the
teachers were too close to dying to understand (Soto 5 6). This hyperbole is showing how
miserable in life the speaker is in that current point using exaggeration and how the speaker
wants to change it by heading to San Francisco. The teachers probably were from an older time
and could not possibly understand the life of a modern teenager. In Nothing Better the speaker is
going through a breakup with his girlfriend and is willing to block the door like a goalie tending
the net (The Postal Service 6 7). The simile shows how much the speaker wants things to become
better and does not want her to leave him. In soccer

Methodology, Metrics and Measures for Testing and Evaluation of an Integrated Sensor
Architecture 1. Introduction {NEED ISA BACKGROUND/MISSION CONTENT} ISA is one
element within an active area of research in the design and development of tools to improve the
situational awareness of military commanders involved in battlefield operations. Evaluating the
effectiveness of tools proposed for introduction into the battlespace requires the use of realistic
command tasks and an appropriate research methodology that controls for task difficulty. Typical
evaluations, if they occur at all, frequently do not employ proper experimental (or quasi
experimental) methodology and address only qualitative elements of evaluation (e.g. user ratings).

designs that may be applied to support ongoing analysis and evaluation of ISA tools and
products. Present concepts and describe factors to be considered in developing a useful set of
task difficulty considerations to support evaluation and testing of ISA tools. Propose an initial set
of behavioral, task based performance measures that are focused on specific areas of performance
that ISA is designed to impact. 3. Research Methodology 3.1 Overview Concerns about research
methodology relate to the constraints of testing ISA tools and products in real world settings. It is
challenging to design and carry out a controlled experiment with rigorous experimental and control
groups. Therefore, evaluation validity is put at risk by factors such as: Are selected tasks

Renaissance Dance Pros And Cons
Dance in the Renaissance Era is an era that is very intriguing but also very amazing because we
can see where dance really started and how it has evolved over time since the Renaissance Era.
Although the Renaissance is a very interesting era to examine it is also made clear what a hard era
this was for dancebut also a great era for dance. I feel that within the Renaissancedance era there
are a lot of pros and cons as dance wasn t necessarily appreciated in this time and was seen as
something that was more dark and associated with death. As time went on this did change and
dance truly became something within this era for several different reasons. For me, I think this era
is so great because of all the different costumes, technique and... Show more content on

In the Baroque time there were quite a few dancing masters but the dancing master that stood out
to me for the time I am focusing on was John Playford (1623 1686). He published The English
Dancing Master in 1651 which provided information on 105 English country dances. (Sue,
Norma. Baroque Dancing Master and Dances. ) Through this period there were many great
dancing masters and manuals. Although this was very important in this time the technique and
movement of this era is where my real focus lies. Within this era there were 5 selected dance
steps that were always used and then put together into a sequence. The 5 steps are; demi coupe,
coupe, pas de bourree, temps de courante and the minuet step. All of these steps were then put
together and you had do them and in a faster manor which was hard because you aren t familiar
with the steps but it is a step you know but it seems harder when put into a different sequence to
different music. The steps in the Baroque time were very interesting but the movement qualities
are something that would be very hard to adjust to as this is something that has evolved and
changed over time as dance has also got more difficult over time. The movement qualities of
include low legs, vertical movements, weight primarily on the ball of one foot, relaxed toes, 90
degree turnout and fluttering embroideries of arms and legs. (Sue, Norma. Baroque Dancing
Master and Dances. ) From this we can see how the movement qualities are very different from
what we do now as the toes would very be relaxed because we now practice a full pointe at all
times and we also now practice 180 degree turnout and you don t even really see 90 degree turnout
anymore as everyone strives to have that perfect turnout. Although these movement qualities have
changed it is quite

Mintz Sweetness And Power
The book Sweetness and Power by Sidney W. Mintz, takes a look into the way the sugar industry
created considerable influence throughout the world. It is an anthropological viewpoint into the
production and consumption of sugar, the cultural impact it has had, as well as the focus into how
it has changed economic revolution. Sugarwas a high in demand, and dominating industry for
many reasons. It was a natural preservative that was edible, it was often used for decorative
purposes and it was also believed to have had medicinal and magical properties. People of all ages

As Jason W. Moore states The sugar frontier set into motion a vast complex of economic activities,
from slave trading to cattle ranching to shipbuilding to foodstuff agriculture. (Moore, 427). In
addition, it has also helped to create social mobility because of its link to tea and how it was highly
desirable. It gave a new meaning to its usage and social gatherings. It is clear that tea, the tea
custom and teatime took on different contextual significance served different meanings in different
class settings. (Mintz, 142). Without the success of sugar, there would not have been the success of
tea, jam, biscuits and so fourth. It has changed the meaning and significance behind food and how
we appreciate, use and consume it. Sugars consumption has also indirectly caused us to form class
and psychological identity around it because we still continue to live with the power of sweetness

What Is The Theme Of Cinderella
people just think of books as a form of entertainment, but humans can actually learn from them.
For example: Grimm s version of Cinderella, published in 1812, was a favorite tale among
children in Germany. Disney s reproduction of Cinderella, published in 1950, was a popular movie
among kids in America. Italys translation of Cinderella, published in 1885, was favored story
among families in Italy. In each version of Cinderella, Grimm, Disney, and Italy one greater theme
stands out among all others.
In the Grimm story of Cinderella , there is one vital theme: hate and contempt will get you nowhere
in life, when it is simple to be kind. Furthermore, here is some background information before the
support to this theme. The king announced a festival for his prince to meet a bride, Cinderella s step
mom says to her that she is not coming, she goes to the tree at her mother s grave and asks the
dove there for the same beautiful dress every night, she meets the prince at the ball, loses her
slipper, prince uses the slipper to find Cinderella, and she tries it on and gets engaged to the prince.
In addition to the background information, the support to the theme is when at Cinderella s
wedding, her step sisters get their eyes pecked out, of because of how mean they are to
Cinderella(7). Now, this story was written in Germany in 1812. Correspondingly, the theme was
important to kids during that time in Germany because they didn t have any type of entertainment

The Code Of Ethics For Nurses Essay
Clinical investigators frequently study individuals who are less than ideal individuals. Oncologists
study patients with tumors and cancers to find out best treatment modalities; psychiatrists study
individuals who have behavioral problems and test effectivity of a particular medication or therapy;
Drug companies perform clinical trials on their medicines. The researchers cannot do much in order
to improve the circumstances of their subjects, short of finding new treatments for their conditions
that affect them. Sometimes, researchers study individuals who are less than ideal, but remediable
conditions. These studies press the question of when it is acceptable for researchers to study rather
than assist individuals.
It is stated that the second provision of the code of ethics for nurses that the nurse s primary
commitment is to the patient, whether an individual, family, group, community, or population
(American Nurses Association, 2001, p. 10). This is likewise supported by Fouka and Mantzorou
(2011) when they emphasized that it is the nature of nursing to take care and to prevent harm to
human beings (p. 3). But in the pursuit of improving quality care and or finding treatment for
diseases, research has to be done which unfortunately deals with human subjects. According to
Polit and Beck (2017), when humans are used for research, care must be exercised to ensure that
their rights are protected (p. 137). However, as in the case of highly publicized

Investigating the Kinetics of the reaction between Iodide ions and Peroxodisulphate (VI) ions
By the use of an Iodine clock reaction I hope to obtain the length of time taken for Iodine ions (in
potassium iodide) to react fully with Peroxodisulphate ions (in potassium Peroxodisulphate). I will
do three sets of experiments changing first the concentration of iodide ions, then the concentration
of Peroxodisulphate ions and finally the temperature of the solution in which the reaction is taking
place. From these results, I hope to draw conclusions as to the effects of these changes to the
environment of the reaction on the rate and also determine the order of the reaction and the
activation enthalpy.

Effect of Temperature
A basic law of physical chemistry is that an increase in temperature causes an increase in the rate of
any reaction. As the collision theory states, for a reaction to take place the particles need to collide.
If the temperature is increased, each particle has greater kinetic energy transferred from the heat
energy, and therefore is moving faster (the average speed of molecules is proportional to the square
root of the absolute temperature.) The faster the particles are moving, the more likely they are to
collide and therefore the faster the reaction. Also, the more energy transferred to each particle due
to increased temperature the more likely it is to surmount the activation enthalpy and again the
higher the number of effective collisions. As a general rule, the rate of a reaction doubles for every
increase of 10K in temperature.
The diagram below demonstrates the effect of temperature on the rate of a reaction. Despite the
initial increase in the energy of particles of a lower temperature, one can see that those at a higher
temperature eventually surpass and lead to an overall higher amount of particles with energy higher
than the activation enthalpy and therefore a greater number of effective collisions.
The exact relationship between temperature and rate of reaction was first proposed by a Swedish
chemist called Arrhenius in

How Media Affects Women
Our body is what makes us who we are. Everyone is special due to physical traits. Even though
everyone has an opinion about what his or her perfect body would be, changing one s personal
characteristics would take away from an individual. Do you ever look in the mirror and wonder
to yourself, Am I good enough for everyone? Are my arms too fat? Does my face has too much
acne? Do my clothes show my muffin top? Well, you aren t alone. Many women struggle with body

Management decision problem confronting Melissa Marcello and Julie Litzenberger and a
corresponding marketing research problem and the linkages between the two.
From the case study, it is evident that Marcello and Litzenberger face a critical management
decision problem. Their respective firms encounter challenges while trying to convince clients
about the role of marketing research (Malhotra, p. 781). Most clients are assertive that their firms
are productive even without marketing research. In essence, prospective clients perceive
professional marketing as a platform for unnecessary expenditures. Other skeptics were assertive
that they had sufficient information about consumer trends for their brands. Such misconceptions
had negative implications on the performance of Marcello s and
Litzenberger s firms. Apart from management decision, a marketing research problem faces the two
executives. This challenge pertains to the survey techniques used in marketing research. Some
skeptics argue against the validity of methods used in professional marketing research. For instance,
it is difficult to convince prospective clients about the reliability of the samples used in professional
marketing (Malhotra, p. 780).
Additionally, the issue of information privacy is another perspective that

Shattered Glass Character Analysis
As I finish watching the movie, shattered glass, I saw that Stephan glass is a unique person when
it comes to writing. The way that Stephan took the The New Republic and fabricated all those

people through his stories and how he fabricated them to seem like these events had occurred. He
thrives for the attention and is a person in need of gaining trust from these people to be accepted in
that certain environment. Stephan is a person who assumes the identity of the writer he is and
starts to make these certain stories come realistic.
Stephan is a superior writer and is very talented when it comes in the use of imagery, but fails in

big mistake he did was leave clues behind that lead him to be caught. The idea of him fabricating

European Aggressor In The 1000 s
Throughout most of the 1000 s, Europe was the creator of science and art movements, and the
pioneer of the industrial revolution, leading the world into a new modern age. Europe s
advancements in the past centuries certainly had great benefits for the world, but Europe was not
perfect; in fact, it was far from it. Although Europewas one of the worlds greatest advancers, It was
also one of the worlds greatest aggressors. Europe was responsible for the transatlantic slave trade,
colonizing nearly the entirety of Africa, and the two World Wars. So this dilema begs the question,
was Europe the visionary innovator, or the harmful aggressor in the 1000 s?
Many may argue that Europe s involvement in slavery and the building of colonial empires
makes them the sole aggressor of the entirety of the 1000 s. People who say this do have a good
point. Europe was heavily involved in the slave trade, according to The Abolition Project,
Estimates, based on records of voyages in the archives of port customs and maritime insurance
records, put the total number of African slaves transported by European traders, to at least 12
million people (The Abolition Project). Undoubtedly, slavery is one of the most evil actions in
history, so obviously Europe is an aggressor for its major involvement in it. Europe not only
participated in the slave trade, It was the biggest proponents of it; it was responsible for the
displacement of at least 12 million people. Europe, knowing full well how the slaves would be
treated, took them away from their homeland to suffer racial injustice, beatings, and forced labor.

Death is perceived as defiance by both characters. Clarissa expresses her belief in reincarnation.
She believes if her true self is not revealed in this life, it will be revealed in the next. She has the
belief that everything will work out, eventually. Thinking of Septimus s death, Clarissa
remembers thinking before a party, If it were to now die, twere now to be most happy (Woolf

war, death, and destruction; he knows that society will not change and that he cannot live in a
world that can be so constricting. Septimus takes a leap of faith and ends all of his suffering in
this unforgiving world; individuality, Septimus and Clarissa recede into the depths of normality.
Clarissa accepts this recession, from having a dream to being merely Mrs. Dalloway. However, he
does not, this constriction and uniformity propels him out of his bedroom window to death.

The Importance Of Education And Health
But how can education help underserve people in the world, especially in developing countries?
Because education gives the people the skill to get out of poverty. With the access of education,
people are better prepared for disease.
Even though there is no direct outcome between education and health, but a higher education leads
to a better understanding of health priorities and medical care needs. Skills such as cognitive ability
and health literacy can help to improve health outcomes because of a better ability to comprehend
complex treatment regimen and disease self management. Educators tend to make superior choices
in terms of their lifestyle and personal health behaviors. Adults with a higher education have the
advantages to be employed and have desirable jobs. By having satisfied jobs not only offer higher
salaries but also health related benefits such as health insurance coverage.
Since inadequate education increases the risk of unemployment, they will have unhealthy diets
and limited access to health care. In 2010, 62.7 percent of individuals who were employed are in
good health, compare to 49.2 percent who were unemployed for less than 1 year and 39.7 percent
who were unemployed for more than 1 year (Zimmerman 2015). Moreover, at age 25, U.S. adults
without a high school diploma expect to die 9 years sooner than college graduates (Zimmerman

Driving And Drinking And Driving
There are already laws in effect that are not being utilized as well as they could be. Sobriety
checkpoints are effective, but only when they are used. There are also interlock systems that can
be installed in a vehicle when a person has been drinking and driving. However, not every person
that is caught drinking and drivingis required to have this system installed in their vehicle. There
is also an idea that if you are involved in an accident the policeman on the scene can ask to see
your phone and if there is proof that you were on your phone at the time of the accident you will
be at fault. Ralph Hingson, director of the Division of Epidemiology and Prevention Research at

If the legal driving age was raised, seatbelt laws were made the priority, speed limits were

An Auspicious Tibetan Furniture Piece
It is interesting to think that furniture is something we take for granted in the modern West, unless
we are interested in and collect antique furniture. Western furniture includes useful, practical items
chairs that we sit on, raised beds that we sleep on, desks that we rest our computers on,
bookshelves we put our books on, etc. So it can be hard to imagine a culture, such as that of Tibet,
where some of the furniture has a completely different function, being used in a ritual and
devotional capacity. In this essay, I will be analyzing a nineteenth century furniture piece from
Central Tibet with the label name Altar Table with Auspicious Symbols that is currently on view at
the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. The furnishing is made from wood with mineral pigments
and stands approximately twenty four inches in height, thirty three inches in width, and eleven
inches in depth. My goal, upon completion of the essay, is to further my understanding of the altar

purpose and function, and background in the culture. I will start with my original analysis of the
piece and add in my research to the following paragraphs. When I first walked into the room
where this piece was exhibited I was immediately drawn to its ornate details and rather bright

Since its inception in 1945, Mattelhas been collecting market intelligence in some form (Nash

Around Christmas, Barbie had all the commercials appealing to the little girls and tweens. Like

Social Phobia Disorder And Social Anxiety Disorder Essay
Many people get nervous during uncomfortable events that include social interaction. Nerves can
sometimes trigger anxiety during classroom interactions, job interviews, or other social events. It
is almost normal to stand in front of a crowd and feel like you re being judged constantly and
tremble. There is a major difference between nerves and an anxietydisorder. When someone
sufferers with social anxiety, they normally avoid situations that allow them to feel judged by
others. I believe that social phobia can be resolved in some individuals but, not for everyone. The
fearof embarrassment or judgment among a crowd is so overwhelming that people with this
disorder try their best to avoid the situation. For people with this disorder, extreme measures to
avoid these uncomfortable situations seem more fortunate than facing the fear itself. According to
The Nemours Foundation, we can assume that what causes social phobia is partly due to our
genetic makeup along with other aspects.
Social phobia disorder is the least known of all anxiety disorders. Social phobia disorder, also
called social anxiety disorder, is known to appear in people who fear observation in public
situations (HealthGuide.org). People with this disorder fear other s judgment of their own actions

Wally Pfister s Techniques In The Film Inept Inception
not until the van falls of the bridge that the audience is presented with the rest of the stages. I
cannot imagine how hard it had to be for Nolan to narrate the story concisely and smoothly at the
same time. Roger Ebert commented on his review for the film that we have to trust him (Nolan)
that he can lead us through, because much of the time we are lost and disoriented. I, personally,
did not feel that way. Of course, a lot of credit has to be given to the cinematographer too. Wally
Pfisterused subtle but effective techniques to simplify a little the complex nature of the story. In
order to prove my point, let me give an example.
In order to help the audience to seamlessly identify the dream levels where the different stages of
the plan were takin g place, Pfister gave each level a particular color tone. The first level, where the
abduction takes place, has a fairly neutral tone to it; everything looks normal. The second level,
most of the action develops in the hotel hallway, the lighting and furniture provide a warmth tone;
and the third level, where they penetrate the mountain fortress, has a cool tone to enhance its
already sterile ambient.
Pfister certainly contributed to the beauty and creativeness of the film. It is no surprise his work on
Inception earned him the Academy Award for Best Cinematography. Among many of the scenes that

Well known film reviewer Roger Ebert gave the film a 4/4 rating. I had the same opinion until I
looked at some of the negative criticism of the film and changed my mind. I believe the film
deserves a 3.8/4 rating instead. In order to defend my position, I need to talk about certain details
from the movie, but I do not want to spoil the movie for you; therefore I will address this point of
view as a post review comment. I recommend you to watch the movie first, and then come back to
read the rest of the review. It is a film worth watching. It is well made, interesting, intelligent, and

Number Talks Summary
Chapter one in the book Number Talks introduces the rationale for number talks and gives an
overview of the basis of what a number talk would look like in a classroom. Number talks can be
conducted in a small group or whole group setting. It is used to help children develop strategies for
solving math problems and to deepen their understanding of numerical relationships. The three
main goals of teaching through numbertalk sessions are to help students compute with accuracy,
efficiency, and flexibility (5). Chapter one gives examples of how to highlight different
strategies. For example, it was helpful to me to see the adding up strategy highlighted by a
number line. I often use this strategy myself with subtraction (only because I took MA 316). I
believe there is a great need in every elementary class for number talks. I took MA 316 and in
doing so it was very eye opening. Growing up, I was taught math through standard algorithms. I
was always amazed how other people just seemed to be good at computing numbers in their head.
If I tried, I would visualize the problem vertically and try to solve it by the algorithm that I had
been taught. I did not have an understanding of the number relationships in depth. I have a daughter
in the second grade. I know by observing her... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In chapter two, it stated how important errors are in helping to clear up misconceptions One rule in
math that I have learned and love is that it is always okay to change your mind. As a student thinks
through a problem and self corrects then learning is taking place. In addition, number talks is
invaluable in teaching children how to articulate their thinking while they defend their answer. In
addition, it is important that children have time to turn and talk to their partner to share their
thinking process. This will help students who are reluctant to share with the whole

The Stone Angel by Margaret Laurence
In her novel The Stone Angel, Margaret Laurence uses the stone angel monument to embody the
qualities of Hagar . Over the course of the novel, Hagar reflects back on the memories that have
made up her life. Hagar s loneliness and depression are self induced and brought on by her pride,
lack of emotion, stubbornness and the ignorance which she has towards anyone s opinion but her
own. The qualities of Hagar are identical with those possessed by the stone angel monument and
paralleled by Laurence many times throughout the novel. The angel was certainly not a suitable
statue to mark the death of Mrs. Currie as it was uncharacteristic of her. The statue of the angel is a
more fitting representation of Hagar s father Jason Currie and hence... Show more content on

When her son John dies she does not weep, almost as if she was made of stone. The night my son
died I was transformed to stone and never wept at all. (Laurence 243) Hagar believed if she cried
it would damage her pride and make her appear weak. She would simply not have people think
that. I wouldn t cry in front of strangers, whatever it cost me. (Laurence 242) Hagar makes love
to Bram and never lets him know that she enjoyed it. He never knew. I never let him know. I
never spoke aloud, and I made certain the trembling was all inner. (Laurence 81) She could never
allow others to know how she felt. Hagar remained emotionless throughout her life. When Bram
dies Hagar does not even dare to shed a tear. But when we d bury Bram and come home again
and lighted lamps for the evening, it was John who cried, not I. (Laurence 184) In many ways
Hagar s passionless life was identical to that of the Angel; it never shed a tear, rarely did she. Her
inability to express emotion led to her relentless ignorance of others and their opinions.
Hagar Shipley is a very stubborn woman at the age of ninety. She is very set in her ways, and does
not appreciate being told what to do. The most prominent sign of this stubbornness is when Hagar
is brought to Silverthreads nursing home to view this location. Upon this discovery Hagar attempts
to run away, only to find herself lost in a forest. The

The sound is loud and wakes the mastiff up causing him to run towards it, away from Ceres. As
swiftly as she can, Ceres runs through the gates and away from where the mastiff stays. She quickly
runs past River Lethe and straight to King Pluto s Castle.
When she enters the castle she neither sees nor hears anyone so she decides to sneakily make
her way up the jeweled staircase. She reaches the hallway at the top of the stairs and instantly
hears a familiar voice singing in one of the rooms. She runs towards it, her heart beating as fast as
it can from joy. She opens the door to the room and gasp as she sees her Proserpina sitting in the
window. Proserpina stops singing and turns to see her mother; her heart instantly filling with
happiness. She runs towards her and hugs her while saying, Oh mother, I m so sorry I should have
listened to you!
I am just so glad I found you, I don t know what I would ve done if I couldn t find you, Ceres
chokes out through her sobbing.
Proserpina pulls away and looks her mother in the eyes, Mother we have to get out of here; King

Okay, let s hurry down the staircase and get out of the castle.

A Clockwork Orange Comparison
A Clockwork Orange is the film adaptation of Anthony Burgess famous novel of the same name,
which was released in 1962, and was directed by Stanley Kubrick. The film narrates the life of the
violent and manipulative protagonist, Alex DeLarge, and his friends. Alex and his friends, Pete,
Georgie, and Dim, commit horrific, demeaning acts of violence, including rape and destruction of
property, simply for the thrill. Once their regular activities become a bore to them, Alexs friends
suggest participating in even worse acts, which completely outrages Alex at the apparent threat
to his power. After Alex reasserts his dominance over his group of criminals with the use of his
words, he decides to prove his dominance with a physical act. This results in Alex murdering a
woman, who was known simply as the Cat Lady, which lands him a 14 year prison sentence, and
is now referred as Prisoner #655321. Even in prison, however, Alex is still a manipulative,... Show

the Chickasaw Nation, especially when Douglas H. Johnston was governor over forty years ago.
Governor Johnston was a long time advocate of educationfor the Chickasawpeople, Governor

Lofton 2 boards were integrated into the rooms to give the children an early introduction to
computer technology. They also provide opportunities for hands on activities, which is a great
way for children of all ages to get in touch with the world around them. For example, in the one
year old s wing the teachers use the boards for music and sometime the Oklahoma City Zoo s
animal cameras where the teachers teach about the different types of zoo animals. But some
parents have regards with SMART boards being used in their child s room. For example, in the
one year old rooms parents sometimes do not want their children being introduced to technology
at that early of an age. Which is not a good idea at this time, technology is used everywhere and it
is better to learn early on in life. Next, the facility has immense safety precautions including locked
doors, security cameras, good teacher to student ratio, sign in and sign out sheets, and accident
forms. In the Center every door must be locked at all times. This prevents strangers from walking
into the building and taking a child, as well as allowing the teachers inside to see the person before
they come into the room. Another safety precaution is providing a security camera in every room
that includes a built in microphone.Between this and the student to teacher ratio the children are
watched continually. The teacher to student ratio is as follows; Infants are one teacher to four

Free Market Economies In Canada
We know that in our free market economy some will prosper more than others. What we don t
accept is the idea that some folks won t even get a chance Julian Castro. Market economies exist
all over the world. Although there are no pure market economies, there are economies that are close
to being a pure marketeconomy. Market economies are more individualistic, and have little
government involvement. First of all, it is a very individualistic economy, it s very every man for
himself . It benefits those who are stronger and more able to make money, and is disadvantageous
to those who struggle to make money. Secondly, there are not really any government programs to
help those who need it. And finally, in market economies, there are more privately... Show more

In fact, the chances of babies dying when there are born are higher in market economies because
there is more private healthcare which leads to less hospitalized births due to the costs. There is a
huge difference between the infant mortality rate in the USA (which is a market economy), and in
Sweden, which is a more planned economy. For example, the infant mortality rate in the USA is
5.8 deaths per 1,000 live births, and Sweden is 2.2. Another reason that the government doesn t
help people in market economies is that they do not provide support for things such as health
insurance. In addition, some people cannot afford to go the the doctor for things that may be
important, and since the government doesn t help them, they cannot get help, and some may die.
For instance, there are studies in the US that prove that many Americans cannot afford healthcare.
The last way that the government doesn t help is, in market economies such as the United States,
the government only provides help for those who absolutely need it. For instance, most people do
not qualify for welfare, even though some people may seem like they are alright, they still cannot
pay the outrageous healthcare bills. Overall, switching to a more market economy here in Canada
would in fact be a bad choice because the government would provide less support, and more people

Alice Malsenior
Alice Walker: Peeling an Essence As an African American novelist, short story writer, essayist,
poet, critic, and editor, Alice Walker s plethora of literary works examines many aspects of
African American life as well as historical issues that are further developed by Walker s unique
point of view. Writers like Alice Walker make it possible to bring words and emotions to voices
and events that are often silenced. Far from the traditional image of the artist, she has sought what
amounts to a personal relationship with her readers. She has also taken positions of passionate
advocacy, most notably in her campaign against ritual genital mutilation of young women, a
practice still institutionalized in many parts of the world, as well as... Show more content on

Alice concentrated and studied hard in school. She graduated as valedictorian from her high
school and went on to attend the local Spelman College in Atlanta, Georgia. She was greatly
influenced by one of her professors there named Howard Zin, who she worked closely with on
civil rights rallies. She became a volunteer for registered voters of Georgia and began attending
political rallies for civil rights. Zin would eventually become an influence for some of Alice
Walker s later writing. In 1963, Walker left Spelman for Sarah Lawrence College, a place housing
only a handful of African Americanpeople, most of them men. This was Walker s predecessor to
participating in many civil rights demonstrations and meeting Martin Luther King at his home in
recognition of her invitation to the Youth World Peace Festival in Finland (Bates, Alice Walker: A
Critical Companion). 1964 was the turning point for Alice Walker. Realising that she was
pregnant she contemplated suicide and slept with her razor under her pillow for three nights
(Bates, Alice Walker: A Critical Companion). During the same week, Walker again turned to
writing as a natural outlet for her distress. She stopped writing only to eat and sleep. Thankfully,
through the help of a friend, Walker was able to attain a safe abortion. The end product of weeks of
anguish was, among other things, a story entitled To Hell with Dying and with the help of teacher

The Role Of Power Among Characters In Schindler s List
As successful as hitler was at exterminating almost the entire population of Jews, Genghis Kahn
was even more successful at exterminating large populations. He killed millions of people
himself, decimating 10% of the world s population, and back when he was the emperor, there was
no special technology such as gas chambers or tanks or cars or guns, him and his army had to kill
people on foot and with swords/machetes. The distribution of power among characters in Schindler
s listvaries, but ultimately those with the tanks and machine guns held the most power and control.
Although the Nazis held the most power over the Jews during the Holocaust, there were other
groups of people who used their trivial powers to save themselves and others.

Analysis Of The Book Clotel Or The President s Daughter
In the novel Clotel or The President s Daughter, Williams Wells Brown s use of irony as Europe,
particularly France, as a pivotal setting for the liberation of African Americans from the bondage of
slavery, by virtue of its political and social demeanor, contrasted from the United States of America.
In the Letter Exchange between Benjamin Banneker and Thomas Jefferson, Banneker s letter
reinforces the situational irony when he argues, Sir, suffer me to recall to your mind that time in
which the arms and tyranny of the British crown were exerted with every powerful effort in order
to reduce you to a state of servitude (253). Thus, this citation reminds Jefferson of his and his
country s origin. The Letters of Exchange and scenes from the novel dramatize the oppression of
enslaved African Americans while acknowledging the irony by assessing the persisting gap
between America s founding principles and the ruthless existence of slavery.
The publication of Clotel in London in 1853 is the first indication of irony, by assessing the
persisting gap between freedom in Europe and the ruthless existence of slavery in America.
Furthermore, it indicates to the reader African American status in U.S. culture. To begin, allow us
discuss Thomas Jefferson, father of American Independence and a father of slave children. A free
African American, Benjamin Banneker, contested the racialist views offered in Notes on the State
of Virginia and challenged the Declaration of Independence as a

In an eastern Mediterranean province, a group of pious individuals pray before the elaborate
portrait of a local saint and hero, hoping the image will bestow upon them some semblance of

to threaten their lands to the south. The individuals know little about the movement stirring in the
large city to the north, which seeks to remove the holy image to which they so ardently pray. From
the west, rumors of a new Creed have made their way to the town, but the grand political and

Though such controversies alone have many theological and religious implications, they can only
be truly understood in the political and historical context in which they arose.
Religious icons, or images, may include paintings, murals, portraits, or mosaics, which, in the
seventh through ninth centuries, commonly depicted Christ, the likeness of a saint, or a particular
scene from scripture. The dispute over the use of icons and religious imagery in the Church, and the
nature of this use amongst the laity, began in the Eastern Roman Empire, or Byzantine Empire, in
the late seventh century, with the movement against icons, or the iconoclasm movement, reaching
its height in the mid ninth century. The use of Icons in Christian practice began in the Coptic
Church in Egypt, and spread throughout the Byzantium Empire, developing into a vital form of
religious education and communication for the laity throughout the East. Those who opposed
religious iconography, did so on the basis of scripture, as the practice of icon use was clearly
condemned in Old Testament text. As the use of every religious icon could not be explicitly
regulated, it was difficult for religious and imperial authorities to determine how such icons were
used by the public. Thus, as it was unknown whether the laity prayed before or to the icons in their
community, all religious icons were removed to prevent the risk of unorthodoxy and the potential
practice of idolatry (Brubaker et al., 2011).

  • 2. Judaism Compare And Contrast The topic I choose to write about is Judaism. Like other religions, there are differences in the religion. I decided to compare and contrast the different types of Judaism. Writers compare and contract in order to understand their similarities and differences ( Vandermey 2012 pg. 182 ). Judaism is a monotheistic religion. Judaismis 3,500 years old, is the oldest of the monotheistic religions. The first attestation of the word Judaism occurs in 2 Maccabees, a Greek abridgment of a history of the Maccabean revolt that was written ca. 124 BCE References Satlow, M. L. (2006). Monotheism is the worship of a single powerful God. The prefix of mono means one. Monotheism usually tends to affirm the expressions such as absolutism which is the acceptance of or belief in absolute principles of the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If you really dissect each religion you will find that they have more in common than differences. They all promote love for God and mankind. The Jewish tradition stems from Abraham s covenant with God. Jews believe that God made a covenant with Abraham that he would be the father of a great people if he followed God s instructions. The covenant was the promise God made with Abraham that his people would be sacred and give them a holy land. Judaism is a tradition grounded in the religious, ethical, and social laws as they are articulated in the Torah which is the Jewish holy book. There are several different sects in the Jewish religion such as Reformed, Conservative, and Orthodox Jews. The main difference between the belief systems is the approach to Torah and the implications of that approach. It is how a Jewish community interact with Torah that defines them as Conservative Jews ( Grossman 2005 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Some see the world as basically a stable ongoing entity while others see society as composed of many groups in conflict, competing for scarce resources (Schaefer, p. 13). Additionally, views of other sociologists believe society is an impressive machine that people take for granted, the social aspects of everyday life and its routine interactions of one to another. The three views the functionalist, conflict, and interactionist theoretical perspectives are the ones that mostly used by sociologists. Let s explore these perspectives first, the Functionalist perspective is thought of as different things all coming together as a whole (macrosociology) ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Qantas s Marketing Strategy And Business Success Innovation and creativity within the context of a firm s customer s provide the basis for establishing and developing strong customer relationships, as well as continual business growth and success. Industry leaders represent good examples that demonstrate just how important customers are towards creating value for the firm; such is the case with Australia s airline industry where Qantas, one of the largest and most reputable brands, continuously re evaluates their marketing strategies in order to stay ahead of the competition. There exist numerous marketing hypotheses and frameworks that aim to better understand why customer relationships, retention and satisfaction are so important. For example, marketers try to segregate the different types of customer loyalty, framing them under factors of repeat patronage and relative attitude . Also, customer loyalty levels are ranked along a loyalty ladder that identifies the most profitable customers to whom the firm should target marketing strategies towards. Finally, customer satisfaction, a driver of loyalty, is summarised into a conceptual framework known as customer response zones . The firm has two major goals in mind when implementing this strategy. • 6. Persuasive Essay On Cosmetic Surgery Imagine being insecure or unhappy with a certain aspect of your physical appearance. Now imagine if there were a way to magically fix it, well there is a way and it is not so magical. Cosmetic surgery is the solution for many men and women who want to change something about their physical appearance. Many people try to fix something physical to make up for a bigger issue they have about themselves deeper down. The first thing that is important to know when talking about elective surgeryis that there is a difference between plastic surgeryand cosmetic surgery. Plastic surgery is defined as a surgical specialty dedicated to reconstruction of facial and body defects due to birth disorders, trauma, burns, and disease while cosmetic surgery is the procedures, techniques, and principles of cosmetic surgery are entirely focused on enhancing a patient s appearance (Morrison). It is important to know the difference because in this paper, cosmetic surgery is the focus. Cosmetic surgery includes procedures like liposuction, tummy tucks, face surgery, and breastsurgery (Morrison). Cosmetic surgery is not a bad thing, many people choose to partake in these procedures. The issue at hand is not whether or not cosmetic surgery is necessary, but what cosmetic surgery does to teenagers in our society today. For example, imagine a teenage girl maybe around age fifteen, women do not fully develop physically until their twenties, but fifteen year old girls are used to seeing fully developed women in the media. There are television shows that cast women in their twenties as girls in high school. This is extremely misleading to girls, because they think they should look a certain way in order to be conventionally attractive. So imagine this fifteen year old girl begging her parents to look like everyone else, screaming and crying. Perhaps she has been bullied because other people may have had surgery. It is hard for parents to say no to their kids when they want something so bad especially if they are bullied. Say the girl did get the surgery with her parents permission and everything is fine, she looks how she wanted to. She got breast implants, a couple years down the road and she gets fully developed. Well now because of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Looking at the results of all the assessments I can think like an entrepreneur and I have the drive, passion, creativity, control, and ability to take on and face challenges of running a small clothingstore. It will definitely be difficult, but it is a dream I have had for so long to own my own business and I know I would love it and never get bored. I know that accounting is extremely important when it comes to a successful company, so even though I may know how to complete the books and stay on top of every business activity to make great decisions, I would rather hire a trustworthy accountant. Through this financial power in advertisements and influence over what can be placed and expressed in media, there is power over what is considered and thought about within the country. Keerti explains that this aspect of Japanese life needs to be revised in order to achieve democracyso that all voices are heard equally and no voices are left or censored out. Keerti also expresses how political engagement and civics classes are mandatory within secondary school and college in order to prepare students to become informed citizens. All three agree that there is no good democracy that comes from a select group. Not only because it is the elite in Japan, but it is those in power who are the problem. In Japan, a majority of the House of Chancellors are passed down through bloodline or company relation. We cannot be certain that those individuals are trained and knowledgeable in the problems in the political view. However, this also brings up the concern of public awareness of political issues. Today, according to Ikeda, Kohno, and Yamada s studies on citizen understanding political concepts between 1960 1990, many Japanese citizens feel that they had no say in political decision making and that they were not well educated in the policies and issues being discussed. As we discussed in class, this is a common problem amongst democracy as a whole, not having a well educated, well informed general public voting. Finally, the aspect of religious liberty brought within the political spectrum. By the end of this summer I will have been a Buddhist for over four years now and I can honestly say that it has made a huge impact on my life. I have become a less stressed and more relaxed person from applying the Dharma basic principles to my everyday routine. Dharma has helped me create my own enlightenment path to eliminating my anger and transgression. After I made the change from Lutheran to Buddhismit has help me get through a lot of problems that I never could stop dwelling over and even just little everyday problems. When I had first heard about Buddhism it was on TV from then on I was intrigued. Coming from a family that never paid much attention to religion, never having been to church and only praying on thanksgiving I never had much interest in religion until I started researching about Buddhism. From then on I started to practice the teachings of Buddha and began to somewhat master so on the lessons but there are still something that I have yet to accomplish with college I haven t had much time to practice and there are said to be lessons that take some Buddhist almost a live time to accomplish. • 10. Literary Uses Of Literary Devices In Poetry And Language Poetry is known to be a creative thought or impassioned feeling using language and is expressed in many places in the world. A poem can have many different meanings according to how an individual interprets it. Various literary devices are used to bring out that interpretation and the sense of what the person thinks that is going to happen. In the poem Saturday at the Canal by Gary Soto and Nothing Better by The Postal Servicethe theme is sometimes in life you may go through tough times but it is up to you whether they will continue. Some literary devices that show the coming up from tough times are figurative language, imagery, and the mood of the poems/songs. Figurative language is one literary device that supports the theme of coming back from tough times. In Saturday at the Canal the speaker is in school and is going through a tough life and the teachers were too close to dying to understand (Soto 5 6). This hyperbole is showing how miserable in life the speaker is in that current point using exaggeration and how the speaker wants to change it by heading to San Francisco. The teachers probably were from an older time and could not possibly understand the life of a modern teenager. In Nothing Better the speaker is going through a breakup with his girlfriend and is willing to block the door like a goalie tending the net (The Postal Service 6 7). The simile shows how much the speaker wants things to become better and does not want her to leave him. In soccer ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Introduction {NEED ISA BACKGROUND/MISSION CONTENT} ISA is one element within an active area of research in the design and development of tools to improve the situational awareness of military commanders involved in battlefield operations. Evaluating the effectiveness of tools proposed for introduction into the battlespace requires the use of realistic command tasks and an appropriate research methodology that controls for task difficulty. • 13. Renaissance Dance Pros And Cons Dance in the Renaissance Era is an era that is very intriguing but also very amazing because we can see where dance really started and how it has evolved over time since the Renaissance Era. Although the Renaissance is a very interesting era to examine it is also made clear what a hard era this was for dancebut also a great era for dance. I feel that within the Renaissancedance era there are a lot of pros and cons as dance wasn t necessarily appreciated in this time and was seen as something that was more dark and associated with death. As time went on this did change and dance truly became something within this era for several different reasons. For me, I think this era is so great because of all the different costumes, technique and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the Baroque time there were quite a few dancing masters but the dancing master that stood out to me for the time I am focusing on was John Playford (1623 1686). He published The English Dancing Master in 1651 which provided information on 105 English country dances. (Sue, Norma. Baroque Dancing Master and Dances. ) Through this period there were many great dancing masters and manuals. Although this was very important in this time the technique and movement of this era is where my real focus lies. Within this era there were 5 selected dance steps that were always used and then put together into a sequence. The 5 steps are; demi coupe, coupe, pas de bourree, temps de courante and the minuet step. All of these steps were then put together and you had do them and in a faster manor which was hard because you aren t familiar with the steps but it is a step you know but it seems harder when put into a different sequence to different music. The steps in the Baroque time were very interesting but the movement qualities are something that would be very hard to adjust to as this is something that has evolved and changed over time as dance has also got more difficult over time. The movement qualities of include low legs, vertical movements, weight primarily on the ball of one foot, relaxed toes, 90 degree turnout and fluttering embroideries of arms and legs. (Sue, Norma. Baroque Dancing Master and Dances. ) From this we can see how the movement qualities are very different from what we do now as the toes would very be relaxed because we now practice a full pointe at all times and we also now practice 180 degree turnout and you don t even really see 90 degree turnout anymore as everyone strives to have that perfect turnout. Although these movement qualities have changed it is quite ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is an anthropological viewpoint into the production and consumption of sugar, the cultural impact it has had, as well as the focus into how it has changed economic revolution. Sugarwas a high in demand, and dominating industry for many reasons. It was a natural preservative that was edible, it was often used for decorative purposes and it was also believed to have had medicinal and magical properties. It is clear that tea, the tea custom and teatime took on different contextual significance served different meanings in different class settings. (Mintz, 142). Without the success of sugar, there would not have been the success of tea, jam, biscuits and so fourth. • 15. What Is The Theme Of Cinderella people just think of books as a form of entertainment, but humans can actually learn from them. For example: Grimm s version of Cinderella, published in 1812, was a favorite tale among children in Germany. Disney s reproduction of Cinderella, published in 1950, was a popular movie among kids in America. Italys translation of Cinderella, published in 1885, was favored story among families in Italy. In each version of Cinderella, Grimm, Disney, and Italy one greater theme stands out among all others. In the Grimm story of Cinderella , there is one vital theme: hate and contempt will get you nowhere in life, when it is simple to be kind. • 18. The Code Of Ethics For Nurses Essay Clinical investigators frequently study individuals who are less than ideal individuals. Oncologists study patients with tumors and cancers to find out best treatment modalities; psychiatrists study individuals who have behavioral problems and test effectivity of a particular medication or therapy; Drug companies perform clinical trials on their medicines. The researchers cannot do much in order to improve the circumstances of their subjects, short of finding new treatments for their conditions that affect them. Sometimes, researchers study individuals who are less than ideal, but remediable conditions. These studies press the question of when it is acceptable for researchers to study rather than assist individuals. It is stated that the second provision of the code of ethics for nurses that the nurse s primary commitment is to the patient, whether an individual, family, group, community, or population (American Nurses Association, 2001, p. 10). This is likewise supported by Fouka and Mantzorou (2011) when they emphasized that it is the nature of nursing to take care and to prevent harm to human beings (p. 3). But in the pursuit of improving quality care and or finding treatment for diseases, research has to be done which unfortunately deals with human subjects. I will do three sets of experiments changing first the concentration of iodide ions, then the concentration of Peroxodisulphate ions and finally the temperature of the solution in which the reaction is taking place. From these results, I hope to draw conclusions as to the effects of these changes to the environment of the reaction on the rate and also determine the order of the reaction and the activation enthalpy. Background information The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Effect of Temperature A basic law of physical chemistry is that an increase in temperature causes an increase in the rate of any reaction. As the collision theory states, for a reaction to take place the particles need to collide. If the temperature is increased, each particle has greater kinetic energy transferred from the heat energy, and therefore is moving faster (the average speed of molecules is proportional to the square root of the absolute temperature.) The faster the particles are moving, the more likely they are to collide and therefore the faster the reaction. Also, the more energy transferred to each particle due to increased temperature the more likely it is to surmount the activation enthalpy and again the higher the number of effective collisions. As a general rule, the rate of a reaction doubles for every increase of 10K in temperature. The diagram below demonstrates the effect of temperature on the rate of a reaction. Despite the initial increase in the energy of particles of a lower temperature, one can see that those at a higher temperature eventually surpass and lead to an overall higher amount of particles with energy higher than the activation enthalpy and therefore a greater number of effective collisions. The exact relationship between temperature and rate of reaction was first proposed by a Swedish chemist called Arrhenius in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Western furniture includes useful, practical items chairs that we sit on, raised beds that we sleep on, desks that we rest our computers on, bookshelves we put our books on, etc. So it can be hard to imagine a culture, such as that of Tibet, where some of the furniture has a completely different function, being used in a ritual and devotional capacity. In this essay, I will be analyzing a nineteenth century furniture piece from Central Tibet with the label name Altar Table with Auspicious Symbols that is currently on view at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. The furnishing is made from wood with mineral pigments and stands approximately twenty four inches in height, thirty three inches in width, and eleven inches in depth. My goal, upon completion of the essay, is to further my understanding of the altar table in Tibet which includes the importance of the material, symbolism and iconography, its main purpose and function, and background in the culture. I will start with my original analysis of the piece and add in my research to the following paragraphs. When I first walked into the room where this piece was exhibited I was immediately drawn to its ornate details and rather bright colors compared to the other objects that were displayed next to this one. The worn primary colors contrasted with the browns of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Through the years Barbie has been at the top without any challengers to bring her down. Executives and shareholder love the way in which Barbie conquers all of the competition. Since its inception in 1945, Mattelhas been collecting market intelligence in some form (Nash Duvall, 2005). As a man, I even understood the importance of Barbie to little girls growing up. Around Christmas, Barbie had all the commercials appealing to the little girls and tweens. Like any superpower, including countries and toys, there is sure to be challenges out there with someone looking to dethrone the best. Mattel somehow felt that there was no way anyone could dethrone Barbie, or steal much of her profits. They were quite wrong in their thinking and paid for it with their bottom line. Although Mattel has focus groups and professionals who sampled the pool of kids to define what they like, they failed miserably in seeing that things were changing significantly. When companies are caught on their heels, it takes a while to react and that can cost millions. In this case, a sluggish reaction by Mattel executives cost them in excess of 20 million, over a short period of time. Nerves can sometimes trigger anxiety during classroom interactions, job interviews, or other social events. It is almost normal to stand in front of a crowd and feel like you re being judged constantly and tremble. There is a major difference between nerves and an anxietydisorder. When someone sufferers with social anxiety, they normally avoid situations that allow them to feel judged by others. I believe that social phobia can be resolved in some individuals but, not for everyone. The fearof embarrassment or judgment among a crowd is so overwhelming that people with this disorder try their best to avoid the situation. For people with this disorder, extreme measures to avoid these uncomfortable situations seem more fortunate than facing the fear itself. According to The Nemours Foundation, we can assume that what causes social phobia is partly due to our genetic makeup along with other aspects. Social phobia disorder is the least known of all anxiety disorders. Social phobia disorder, also called social anxiety disorder, is known to appear in people who fear observation in public situations (HealthGuide.org). I cannot imagine how hard it had to be for Nolan to narrate the story concisely and smoothly at the same time. Roger Ebert commented on his review for the film that we have to trust him (Nolan) that he can lead us through, because much of the time we are lost and disoriented. I, personally, did not feel that way. Of course, a lot of credit has to be given to the cinematographer too. Wally Pfisterused subtle but effective techniques to simplify a little the complex nature of the story. In order to prove my point, let me give an example. In order to help the audience to seamlessly identify the dream levels where the different stages of the plan were takin g place, Pfister gave each level a particular color tone. The first level, where the abduction takes place, has a fairly neutral tone to it; everything looks normal. The second level, most of the action develops in the hotel hallway, the lighting and furniture provide a warmth tone; and the third level, where they penetrate the mountain fortress, has a cool tone to enhance its already sterile ambient. Pfister certainly contributed to the beauty and creativeness of the film. It is no surprise his work on Inception earned him the Academy Award for Best Cinematography. Number talks can be conducted in a small group or whole group setting. It is used to help children develop strategies for solving math problems and to deepen their understanding of numerical relationships. The three main goals of teaching through numbertalk sessions are to help students compute with accuracy, efficiency, and flexibility (5). Chapter one gives examples of how to highlight different strategies. For example, it was helpful to me to see the adding up strategy highlighted by a number line. I often use this strategy myself with subtraction (only because I took MA 316). I believe there is a great need in every elementary class for number talks. I took MA 316 and in doing so it was very eye opening. Growing up, I was taught math through standard algorithms. I was always amazed how other people just seemed to be good at computing numbers in their head. The dispute over the use of icons and religious imagery in the Church, and the nature of this use amongst the laity, began in the Eastern Roman Empire, or Byzantine Empire, in the late seventh century, with the movement against icons, or the iconoclasm movement, reaching its height in the mid ninth century. The use of Icons in Christian practice began in the Coptic Church in Egypt, and spread throughout the Byzantium Empire, developing into a vital form of religious education and communication for the laity throughout the East. Those who opposed religious iconography, did so on the basis of scripture, as the practice of icon use was clearly condemned in Old Testament text. As the use of every religious icon could not be explicitly regulated, it was difficult for religious and imperial authorities to determine how such icons were used by the public.
