Industrial Organizational Psychology
The medical profession is one of the most crucial professions in any country, including the United
States. As such, it is ideal to refine processes and practices in order to maximize the output of
employees within this profession. Although such an outcome is desired of any sort of organization
that industrial organizational psychologists work in, it is pivotal to achieve this objective in the
medical profession for the simple fact that the result of medical procedures directly affects the health
and vitality of the profession at large. Industrial organizational psychologists improve workplace
conditions for employees (No author, 2013). Thus, there is increased scrutiny on industrial
organizational psychologists and there work within the medical field which may account for the
fact that traditionally, there are very few I O psychologists working in health care settings (Ehler et
al, 2003).
However, this traditional dearth of industrial organizational involvement in this industry only makes
that which has been documented all the more valuable. A recent research study on resuscitation for
children conducted at the University of Calgary illustrates how some medical organizations have
used industrial organizational psychology to train employees and influence future selection criteria
for them. During this particular study, employees involved in these procedures are trained in a
single day by filming their reactions to simulated resuscitation scenarios with children. Both the

Disadvantages Of Cinema
(b) The first role that marketing will play in the launch of the cinema is that of environment
analysis and marketing research. This is to say, through marketing, this new cinema will be able to
monitor and adapt to external factors that affect success or failure such as the economy and
competition, as well as be able to collect data to resolve specific marketingissues.
The other role will be that of consumer analysis. Through marketing, Reelly Good cinemas will be
able to examine and evaluate consumer characteristics, needs and purchase processes, as well as be
able to select the group (s) of consumers at which to aim marketing efforts.

Risk of understanding the market A successful approach to market orientation involves a systematic
approach to researching consumer behaviour. Missing the mark in this process creates a system
whereby the company uses ineffective data in its approach to reaching out to customers. Working
with wrong data is often worse than working with no data at all. In short, a company that is very
small, lack research resources or has high segmentation between its departments is at a disadvantage
when it comes to establishing marketing orientation.
2. Risk of understanding the customer
A global market place has increased competitiveness across all consumer brands. The internet has
created a system whereby consumers can easily comparison, shop, read peer reviews and access
consumer reports at the click of the button. To effectively market to this new, highly informed
consumer, an approach to marketing orientation must be flexible and must be4 quickly altered to
meet the ever changing thought process and demands of today s savvy customer. Companies that
have developed an approach to this marketing approach but fail to update it as needed run the risk

Tonight I Can Write By Pablo Neruda

Tonight I Can Write... Tonight I can write... is one of the best poems written by the great Pablo
Neruda. He was known as a poet when he was 10 years old. He wrote in many different styles,
including passionate love poems such this chosen poem. This is one of the greatest poem I ve
ever came across. Pablo really expressed his love and feelings towards his no longer loved one.
Reading this poem showed me how loyal and strong he is as well as remembering all the
memories whether they were a happy memories or sad ones. This poem also shows the reader from
the beginning, how their relationship was kind of great and then how things got escalated quickly
and the conflict that he was fighting between himself when he couldn t forget her. ... Show more

The poem begins with a statement which is repeated 3 times throughout the poem in line 1, 5 and
11 which created rhythm. This helps the reader to come back to that phrase and be able to fully
understand the depth of what the writer is feeling.
Next, when the writer said The night is shattered and the blue stars shiver in the distance , he
used imagery which is when words are used to create visual images. In this line, the writer creates
an image of the night s sky in readers mind and describes them as far away. These

Ethical Issues In Ethics
Ethics
The field of ethics (or moral philosophy) involves systematizing, defending, and recommending
concepts of right and wrong behavior. Philosophers today usually divide ethical theories into three
general subject areas: metaethics, normative ethics, and applied ethics.
Metaethics investigates where our ethical principles come from, and what they mean. Are they
merely social inventions? Do they involve more than expressions of our individual emotions?
Metaethical answers to these questions focus on the issues of universal truths, the will of God, the
role of reason in ethical judgments, and the meaning of ethical terms themselves.
Normative ethics takes on a more practical task, which is to arrive at moral standards that regulate

According to many feminist philosophers, traditional morality is male centered since it is
modeled after practices that have been traditionally male dominated, such as acquiring property,
engaging in business contracts, and governing societies. The rigid systems of rules required for
trade and government were then taken as models for the creation of equally rigid systems of
moral rules, such as lists of rights and duties. Women, by contrast, have traditionally had a
nurturing role by raising children and overseeing domestic life. These tasks require less rule
following, and more spontaneous and creative action. Using the woman s experience as a model
for moral theory, then, the basis of morality would be spontaneously caring for others as would be
appropriate in each unique circumstance. On this model, the agent becomes part of the situation
and acts caringly within that context. This stands in contrast with male modeled morality where the
agent is a mechanical actor who performs his required duty, but can remain distanced from and
unaffected by the situation. A care based approach to morality, as it is sometimes called, is offered
by feminist ethicists as either a replacement for or a supplement to traditional male modeled moral

Discuss The Effects Of Ww2 On African American Women
The postwar period starting in 1945 was a time of economic boom and a shared sense of unity in
the United States, or so it seemed. Although the unemployment rate was zero percent women and
African American workers were becoming increasingly unhappy with their roles in the American
post war economy. Employment of women in America was at an all time high reaching 19 million
by 1945. However, the traditional gender roles between men and women created tension after the
war due to women s push for opportunity outside of their typical roles at home. In the post war
period, African Americanworkers were still feeling a sense of segregation and inequality in the
workforce. They were usually the last to be hired, especially African American women,

Analyzing M. Night Shyamalan s After Earth
Danger is real, but fear is a choice. As intriguing and captivating as this catch phrase sounds, the
film as a whole may not fit that classification. While M. Night Shyamalan s After Earth (2013) is
ineffective in reaching some of its audiences as anticipated, others seem to have enjoyed the movie
thoroughly. The filmopens with a promising story where humans are forced to escape a polluted
Earth inhabited by an alien race that is trained to exterminate them and retreat to Nova Prime, a
new home, to find refuge. General Cypher Rage, played by Will Smith, plays a fearless warrior
who has superior ghosting ability to mask his fear which makes him invulnerable to the aliens. His
son Kitai, played by Jaden Smith, is an eager cadet wanting... Show more content on

A generic plot is a major reason for that. After Earth in the end proves to be a misfire at the box
office because of its dry and predictable story. M. Night Shyamalanis known for having twists in
his stories, but this film does not seem to follow that successful formula, and it eventually costs
him. Throughout the film, only three major things happen: a plane crash, Kitai running to retrieve
the beacon, and a fight that brings the movie to an end. Evidently, it is not possible to say that the
film has no high points, but as soon as it looks like the storyline is progressing, it ended and
moved on to the next scene. There is an instance in the film where Kitai is running from lethal
dogs. When suddenly they fence him from all corners; this build up turns into a that s it moment
when Kitai escapes through a little gap between the trees. Shyamalan seems to find little loopholes
that he can use to save some time instead of thinking of a more innovative way to get through
obstacles. As soon as evening took over Earth, the temperature drops rapidly. Kitai is fast asleep in
the midst of the jungle, not knowing of the danger that surrounds him. Nonetheless, this dangers
does not prove to be a big deal for Shyamalan because in a matter of seconds a gigantic bird appears
and protects Kitai under its wings. When the situation appears most intense, Shyamalan resorts to a
convenient solution to get the characters out of threatening situations. Because of this, the film
does not

Bedtime Stories As Told By Our Dad Who Messed Them Up
This past December I had the honor of being a clown for Perry High School s children show,
Bedtime Stories As Told by Our Dad Who Messed Them Up which means I watched the show
three different times excluding dress rehearsal and any practices I attended. Two performances
were held on December 1st and one performance was presented on December 2nd. On Friday,
December 1st children from Perry Elementary schools and St. Joan of Arc were bussed to the
high school to watch the show. The clowns were given the job of seating these energetic excited
little youngsters who were hilarious and so interactive. Every time one of the actors would ask an
open ended question the kids would shout what they thought the answer was. There was one
moment when one of the characters was trying to figure out Rumpelstiltskin s name so she listed
names which could be correct. Most of the kids shouted No! when she would list a name but there
was one kid in the back who kept on shouting his name and the clowns in the back were cracking
up. Despite all the distractions coming from the audience, the performers did a great job staying in

There were definitely fewer people at the Saturday showing and the atmosphere seemed different
than it did the day before. I believe this was the case because there was a larger number of adults
which probably made the kids feel less free to show their bubbly enthusiasm. My fellow clowns
and I also felt a bit more awkward because there were fewer kids to entertain and there were a few
preteens and teenagers who most likely thought we looked really stupid. The performers didn t let
the lack of involvement slow them down and put on an incredible

Essay Comparing Gilgamesh And The Flood
Throughout the readings of both The Flood from the Epic of Gilgamesh and excerpts from
Genesis 6:5 9:17: The Flood , one has noticed numerous similarities that connect the two articles.
Before one has read the articles, one notices that both readings were written a long time ago in
the B.C. era. Both the readings talk about a God or multiple gods creating a flood because the
humans expressed wickedness. The purpose of the flood was to wipe out mankind. The two
readings ask for a man to build a massive ark/boat. Both the boats were sealed with pitch. Both
stories talk about the God/gods telling the man what dimensions the boat shall be built with. The
man in both readings brought all kinds of animals and some people with with him. Another... Show

Once on the mountain, the man send birds to find dry land and see if the flood has come to an
end. In both readings, one of the birds the man sends out does not return to the ark/boat. The man
in both readings sacrificed something for the God/gods. The God/gods both smelled the sacrifice.
Both readings express that the God/gods promise not to destroy humankind again. One believes
that it is possible that the author of Genesis had some knowledge of the Epic of Gilgamesh because
the readings correlate together so well. The Epic of Gilgamesh originated before Genesis and
shares great detail between both stories. Both of the readings talk about the same event on our
planet. Both Genesis and the Epic of Gilgamesh documented this event at the same time and are
expressing/sharing it in a way they both understand. One of these accounts may have been altered
by a mix up in oral tradition. It would be too much of a coincidence if Genesis took information
from Epic of Gilgamesh because Genesis has more detail compared to the other reading. Genesis
must have witnessed the event and wrote it down in the perspective the author saw it in.The
readings both parallel each other very

How Did The English Reformation Influence Religion
The English Reformation The English Reformation in the sixteenth century significantly influenced
religion and political ideology that would consequently impact the theology and laws formed
presently.
The English Reformation derived from King Henry VIII of England s personal desire to divorce
his Spanish wife. The Pope s refusal to grant King Henry VIII the divorce angered him, resulting in
his actions to remove ties from the Catholic Church and establish himself as the head of the
Christian faith in England (Brinkley 21). After King Henry s death, his daughter, Queen Mary,
restored the Catholic faith and persecuted Protestants. Later when Mary died, Elizabeth I, once
again broke away from Catholicism. The result of switching religions

Industry Eight Small/Medium Entrepreneurial Ventures Inner City Paint Corporation Donald F.

Corporation in a run down warehouse, which he rented, on the fringe of Chicago s downtown
business area. The company is still 10cated at its original site. Inner City is a small company that
manufactures wall paint. It does not compete with giants such as Glidden and DuPont. There are
small paint manufacturers in Chicago that supply the immediate area. The proliferation of paint
manufacturers is due to the fact that the weight of the product (52 12 pounds per 5 gallon

Color overruns are tapped off into 2 gallon containers. Inventory records are not kept. The
warehouse manager keeps a mental count of what is in stock. He documents (on a lined yellow
pad) what has been shipped for the day and to whom. That list is given to the billing clerk at the
end of each day. The cost of the materials to produce flat white paint is $2.40 per gallon. The cost
per gallon for colors is approximately 40% 50% higher. The 5 gallon covered plastic pails cost
Inner City $1.72 each. The 55 gallon drums (with lids) are $8.35 each. (see Exhibit 1). Selling
price varies with the quantity purchased. To the average customer, flat white sells at $27.45 for 5
gallons and $182.75 for 55 gallons. Colors vary in selling price because of the variety in pigment
cost and quantity ordered. Customers purchase on credit and usually pay their invoices in 30 to
60 days. Inner City telephones the customer after 60 days of nonpayment and inquires when
payment will be made. MANAGEMENT The President and majority stockholder is Stanley
Walsh. He began his career as a house painter and advanced to become a painter for a large
decorating company. Walsh painted mostly walls in large commercial buildings and hospitals.
Eventually, he came to believe that he could produce a paint that was less expensive and of higher
quality than what was being used. A keen desire to open his own business resulted in the creation of
Inner City Paint Corporation.

It was agreed there are a lot of nuances that need to be addressed, but there is an opportunity for
NIH to push back on the more onerous parts of the HHS policy, especially if an acceptable MDM
is implemented.
Jeff Erickson clarified the distinction between the device/carrier contract and the MDM initiative
and informed the group of the rationale behind separating the two initiatives for the near term at
least. He stated that registering a device to the MDM solution becomes a pre requisite to allow
the device to connect to NIH networks and reiterated the difference of GFE versus BYOD/POE;
one we own and one we manage.
The assumption is the MDM will be hosted as a cloud service and will integrate into the cloud

Jeff requested help from the CIOs in communicating and supporting the activity and the change that
it represents. There is potential for people to conflate devices/contracts with the MDM. There needs
to be a common message that, they are related, but they are different and the activities will be
managed separately.
CIT has not selected a vendor or MDM product. CIT plans to solicited bids and select the vendor
that provides the best value. The vendor will be Info Reliance for the following reasons: there is
an HHS BPA in place, they were used to perform the mailbox migration and understand the NIH
environment, and they already perform MDM for OS and CMS. They will provide the per month

Arguments Against Mandatory Civil Service
The U.S. Congress is considering a requirement of one year of civil service by either participating
in the military, or contributing to a civilian service program, a mandate that would be imposed on
high school graduates prior to them entering college. Consequently, this is directed towards all high
school students in the U.S. In my opinion, this requirement would be in direct conflict with all that
we value as citizens of the United Statesof America. Moreover, I feel that this move towards
mandated civil service aimed at all high schoolgraduates would infringe on our basic freedom of
choice and our right to The American Dream , the ability to choose what we do and have the
freedom to try to achieve our dreams.

having one of the worst records in the world on human rights, is a communist state, and is also a
dictatorship, North Korea. Moreover, we need to hold true to our freedoms, and in order to do so
we cannot implement any type of mandated civil service policy that would dictate the direction the
lives of our graduating high school students take, that choice should be left up to

Technology affects unemployment, economic growth, and organisational structure of jobs.
Through innovation in technology, new jobs are created while old jobs are made redundant. There
is also an overall skill upgrading effect while some tasks are deskilled.
Current stage of technological development gives the opportunity of nonstandard work to the
business world. Examples include freelance, telecommuting, workshifting, home working and the
idea of blended workforce, when standard and nonstandard employes work side by side.
Nonstandard jobs are more common for high skilled, high paid workers; it allows more fredom
and flexibility. Some disadvantages of homeworking and teleworking involve absense of team spirit
and lack of face to face social interactions and sharing ideas. In addition management connot easily
monitor, control the activity and make sure that employees are working towards the same goal.
Recently, applying blogs for knowledge sharing and problems solving across the organisation has
dramatically changed the nature of work. Managers use technological methods to encourage
informal coordination and make the workplase more engaging for benefiting the teamwork. Same
communication tools are utilized between managers of different department to combine their work
together or by partner companies to do business together regardless of time zone and language
issues. On the other hand, the usage of the

To Know One Man is to Know a Nation Abstract: Both Alexander Solzhenitsyn and Leonard

vision of a nation of suffering people emerges. Despite using very different styles and genres,
both One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich and Prison Writings: My Life is my Sundance show

Man is to Know a Nation Leonard Peltier is a man who has been immensely wronged by law

indigenous population of North America, nay, the whole world. By reading the story of one man s

The qualitative study used for the study conducted by Oster, Mayan, and Toth (2013) was
ethnography. Ethnography is a method of describing a culture and the behaviours that are exhibited
(Barroso Cameron, 2013, p. 179). The limitation to utilizing this research method in Oster, Mayan,
and Toth s study, which primarily utilized focused ethnographies, is that the researchers may not
involve participants from a similar community (2013). In order to address this aspect, the
researchers should have conducted a Participatory Action Research(PAR), specifically Community

Oster, Mayan, and Toth s study found that every women interviewed had similar themes pertaining
to diabetes and pregnancy, such as difficulty controlling blood sugar and overall health (2013).
They also discovered the importance of improving pregnancy care in a way that will increase
autonomy and available support systems (ie patient centred approach) (Oster, Mayan, Toth, 2013).
These findings can help guide future nursing practice because from early on, nurses are taught the
importance of patience centred, strength based care (Gottlieb, 2014). Improving strength based care
in indigenous communities will allow members with gestational diabetes, let alone any other health
conditions to build upon person and community assets when they are working to improve health.
This process will put patients at the centre of care and allow them to be more involved in their
health care and thereby gain knowledge about all aspects of personal health (Gottlieb, 2014).
Additionally, when implementing patient centred care and working to promote health, it is crucial
nurses and other healthcare providers involve Western medicine and culturally accepted methods of
care. These methods may include cooking classes that prepare cultural dishes, developing a
community vegetable garden, and implementing appropriate screening tools (Harris, Bhattacharyya,

The world is composed of many people, all with different histories, which create various
perspectives within a society and culture. People who conform to a general idea generate a

available in highly populated locations allows for individuals to develop in ways that contrast from
each other, enabling controversial conversations to shape the atmosphere in which they inhabit. The

It seems like every week we hear about thousands and thousands of people losing their jobs. Back
in the 1980s most of the job losses were in the blue collar sector. In the 1990s it seems many of the
cuts were made in the white collar, management jobs. Why? Think about it. Technology, to a large
extent, has driven organizations to change the way they operate and that includes the way they
manage. We re going to take an in depth look at how organizations work and how they ve been

Information systems are the foundation for conducting business today. In many industries, survival

Peeta love won the battle of the capital. They managed to outsmart the game rulers. At the end of

Essay on Archetypes In Siddhartha
In analyzing the novel Siddhartha, we find that Herman Hesse has incorporated many literary
techniques to relay his message to the reader. By using various writing approaches to convey the
theme of the novel, Hesse appeals to the readers senses and aides them in grasping the novel.
Included in these techniques are symbolism, metaphor, allusion, and archetypes. He compares many
issues that Siddhartha faces to everyday objects and forces, making the noveleasier to understand.
Three of the main archetypes
Hesse uses to get his point across are trees, rivers, and sleep.
One of the more obvious symbols used in the novel is a tree. Cross culturally, it is extremely
common for trees ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He lets go of the tree and considers suicide, but immediately sinks back underneath its trunk when
he realizes how childish the thought of killing himself is. By showing the reader how drastically
different
Siddhartha s decisions and ideas are while he s away from a tree as opposed to underneath of one,
we see just how strong its symbolism in the novel is. The use of this archetype shows the audience
how important wisdom and intelligence are.
Another example of cross cultural themes found in Siddhartha is the symbolism of the river. We
find that in many civilizations rivers represent life and the path we take to find our destiny.
Garth Brooks song quot; The River quot; is a perfect example of the usage of rivers as a
metaphor for life: quot;...Trying to learn from what s behind you and never knowing what s in
store, makes each day a constant battle just to stay between the shores... quot; This quote from the
song can be directly compared to Siddhartha s life, as he lives his life trying to gain new
knowledge and learn from his experiences. By personifying the river and actually making it a
character at the end of the novel, it strengthens the image in a reader s mind of the path that
Siddhartha must follow through his experience on Earth. Hesse further emphasizes this symbol by
using the word
quot;flowing quot; frequently throughout the novel. Small things, like speech

The Three Major Aspects Of Industrialization From 1865 To...
There are three major aspects of industrialization from 1865 to 1920 that influenced U.S. society,
economy and politics. These are urbanization, working conditions and laissez faire government.
Urbanization created cities who offered large numbers of workers for new factories. In turn, more
factories were built. Workers, both native born and immigrants, moved to cities looking for jobs.
Industrialism and post industrialism let to a decline in patriarchy within the family because of the
changes that were made to society.
The birth of the Industrial Revolution had one staggering advantage, even to the most distanced and
skeptical farmer: a living could be made that was not subject to climate changes. Therefore, a man
could actually be assured of regular, dependable wages. This did not, however, translate into a vast
emigration of farmers to the new cities. An economy based upon agriculture is altogether distinct
from an industrial one. The former is dependent upon the unpredictable elements of nature and the
weather, the consequences of which could lead to ruin and famine. Indispensable to this growth and
development were an unprecedented surge in immigration and urbanization after the Civil War.
American society was in transition. The industrial revolution meant more money and wealth for the
upper classes, especially the owners of large companies. It was thought that the wealth would be
invested back into new factories, so the Americans accepted this wealth distribution.

program should offer openings for college students to serve the community as well as increase their
education. Thousands of schools have now incorporated service learning in their program of study
(Wade 25). Service learning has improved over the years and has a specific structure that highlights
what is important about it. Service learning encompasses different components that are essential for
quality education. The beginning process of a service learning project is the preparation that comes
before the actual learning experience (Wade 21). This step involves careful planning and
collaboration of everyone s ideas that are to be involved in the project. The responsibilities and
outcomes that the students, teachers, and community plan on getting out of the project are

It involves the students, teachers, and community coming together and developing a program that
is helpful for all ( Service Learning, par. 1). Commitment is important so that the program can run
smoothly and efficiently. Service is the foundation of the different components (Wade 21). The

Impact Of Technology On The Music Industry
Over the years, music has become portable, starting with the transistor to a set of headphones.
Technology has allowed us to create a diverse musical culture. Music will always have an effect
on one s culture, and it has definitely mad a huge impact on the use of technology. Cultural
diversity is about bringing people closer together though the World Wide Web. Many music
publishers are the key to cultural diversity when it comes to publishing all genres. They will
increasingly continue to play a part in promoting diversity by bringing music of all kinds and
forms to the music market. The way we access and listen to music has changed a lot in the music
industry. For some, it may seem easier to download your favorite song from your favorite artist,
but there are rules to the file sharing and downloading of music. Before there was file sharing,
people would gather in concert halls for impressive music from some of the best known
composers of all time. Today, there has been an abundance of ways to access and listen to music,
in writing this paper, my goal is to discuss copyrightlaws, file sharing, and the progression of how
we access music.
Before we reached the electronic musical era, there was good old fashion concert halls. People
would gather together in the concert halls to see many different composers perform, all from
which were in different eras; the Baroque, Classical, and Romantic era. By the year 1877, Thomas
Edison had discovered how to record and reproduce sound

Building Houses For Needy Families
My grandfather gave me a hammer and nails as a small child and encouraged me to build
whatever I wanted, which began my love for building and working with my hands. This is why I
was immediately attracted to the idea of building houses for needy families through Habitat for
Humanity. Habitat for Humanity ( Habitat ) is a non profit organization that helps build homes
for people who can t afford a home on their own. Habitat for Humanity believes in building hope,
building homes and building better futures ( Habitat Cleveland County ). Habitat partners with
volunteers who share the same goals of helping others create better communities around the

international organization that was created by Millard and Linda Fuller in 1976 ( The History ).
Millard was struggling in his life with what was important to him, which is what lead him to
search for a greater purpose. Therefore, Millard and his family sold all of their possessions,
donated the money and moved to a Christian community called Koinonia Farm ( The History ).
This is where his Christian faith led him to start building homes for low income people who were
trying but couldn t quite afford to build a home of their own. Millard and Koinonia Farm owner,
Clarence Jordan, developed the idea of providing housing to families with no profit and no interest
loans. With his new idea of partnership housing, Fuller and his

Robert Bolt s A Man For All Seasons
Etti
A Man for All Seasons was a play written by Robert Bolt in 1960. The play showcased the
controversy and corruption in sixteenth century politics in England. It demonstrated how
treachery can easily befall anyone at any time as long as people have the determination and the
correct position of power to bring them down. It displays how corrupt the time period was and
how people were willing to turn on others for their own selfish reason. In Robert Bolt?s A Man for
All Seasons, political corruption is shown through the destruction of Sir Thomas More.

The relationship between The Church and King Henry was very important because the dispute is
what led to the downfall of More. It gave Cromwell the opening he needed to take him down, and
he took it.
More was very resistant to the premise of corruption. He can be labeled as one of the only
people in the play who didn?t give in to it. More was unwavering in his fight against corruption,
nothing could shake him. He was the moral compass of the story the only one who seemed to be
following his conscience. His martyrdom and refraining from corruption separated him from
others in the story. This also separated him from the common man, the people that Bolt was
trying to connect with.3 The main reason for More?s resistance was his religious beliefs. More
truly believed he was a man of God, and he was willing to die for his beliefs. ?And when we

Hume on Miracles Essay
Hume on Miracles
It is evident in David Hume s writing of An Equity Concerning Human Understanding that he
does not believe that miracles take place. Hume is a man of logic, who believes in experience
over knowledge. Of course it is hard for such a man to believe in extraordinary claims without
being there to witness them. Especially when such events require a lot of faith.
In order for an event to be deemed a miracle, it must disobey the laws of nature. However, it is
these same laws that disprove almost any miracle that has ever been reported. He writes that some
events that people report as miracles truly are not. For example, it is not a miracle, that fire burns

Then and only then would he be able to be sure that a person was not motivated by any other

that no testimony is sufficient to establish a miracle, unless the testimony is of such a kind that
its falsehood would be more miraculous than the fact which it endeavors to establish #8230; (pg.
674, col.1). He then goes on to say that at no time has there been any miracle attested by a
sufficient number of men of such unquestioned good sense, education, and learning, as to secure
us against all delusion in themselves #8230; (pg. 674, col.2). His point being that no scholar
would ever back such an obsurd story because of the risk of being ridiculed by his piers. He says
that miracles are further disproved by the fact that most of them are reported by ignorant,
barbarous people of past generations. Some of the things that these people have reported as
marvelous are common among later generations, so their mysteriousness has been lost and they are
no longer miracles. If you are wondering why stories like these do not originate today, Hume says
they do, but we rule them out as lies. According to him, people have always had tendencies to

Abstract
A virus isolate infecting soybean (Glycine max L.) with characteristic symptoms start as yellowish
patches (chlorosis) along the leaf,s main vein and sometimes between the veins, which turn into
necrotic brown or reddishbrown areas was collected from the Experimental farm of Faculty of
Agriculture, Cairo University ,Giza Governorate during May 2014/2015. To identify the causal
virus, the plants were tested by enzyme linked immunesorbent assay using antibodies against
different Tospovirus i,e. Tomato spotted wilt virus (TSWV), Iris yellow spot virus (IYSV) and
Soybean vein necrosis virus (SVNV). Preliminary results revealed the presence of Soybean vein
necrosis virus (SVNV) in tested soybean plants by double antibody sandwich (DAS ELISA) using
SVNV specific antiserum and by tissue and dot blotting immuneo binding assay. SVNV was able to

middle ground. Unfortunately, what he ends up doing in the article is create an either/or situation,
rather than find any middle ground. In the end we are left in the same situation that we started
with. In the first paragraph, Jaron appeals to the pathos of the reader; he assumes that the reader is
of the generation that has grown up in the digital age, thus they would agree that the most important
aspect of the internet is the people who contribute to it. However, there is no reason to ever assume

He assumes that the reader will accept his word that the legislation deals with this issue using
the mentioned method. In a way, this can be considered a bandwagon fallacy, in that we re
supposed to accept that because he and his colleagues think the bill uses draconion methods, it
does in fact use them. Without support for this statement, there is no reason to ever believe what
the author has said. In addition, the author appeals to the readers ethos, as well as an appeal to
authority, in that we re expected to accept the opinions of these people, simply because the
author says we should. The author then goes on to state, Those rare tech companies that have
come out in support of SOPA are not merely criticized but barred from industry events and
subject to boycotts. We, the keepers of the flame of free speech, are banishing people for their
speech. The result is a chilling atmosphere, with people afraid to speak their minds. It s hard to
see, but this is definitely a fallacy of equivocation. The author is comparing the corporations who
wish to make it illegal to upload user content if it contains anything they have made. Under this
model, electronic musicians would not be allowed to make the music they make, simply because
they use samples from other artists. Under this model, Apple would not be allowed to distribute
their operating system, simply because they have used code from FreeBSD.

Statement of Purpose for the Marshfield Clinic Scholarship
I am the daughter of Brian and Leah Goettl. My parents have been vital in my life, and without
them, I would not be the person I am today. They have taught me many lessons about
responsibility, accountability, compassion, and commitment. Everything I have learned from my
parents will have an immense impact on my future. I also have a younger brother, Mitchell. He is
my biggest fan and pushes me to be my best. With a little sibling rivalry along the way, we work
together and learn from each other. My family supports me in everything I do and they have given
me countless opportunities that I am so grateful for.
My family suggested I look into a career in pharmacy because of my caring personality and
strengths in the science field. After graduating from high school, I will be attending pharmacy
school at Drake University. I am interested in pursuing a career in pharmacy because it would
complement my academic interests of math and chemistry, as well as my compassionate
personality and desire to help others. I have chosen Drake because their pharmacy program has an
excellent reputation, a 100% placement rate into the field, and the six year program reduces the
cost. This school offers an accelerated six year pharmacy program to obtain a PharmD degree with
a Master s Degree in Business Administration, instead of the eight year pharmacy program that most
schools offer.
I have done in depth career research and planning that has helped me understand the pharmacy

Check And Balances
Division of Checks and Balances The congress decided to pursue the idea of limiting the power of
government through check and balances. This system is written in our Constitution. The ideal
principles of making laws, enforcing and interpreting laws should be independent and efficient in
limiting each other s power. The two houses of congress provide limitations on each other. This
system was created because our founding fathers figured they did not want any tyranny. This was
one of their many goals and with this came federalism that balanced state and national
government. Jefferson and others felt this is what we needed to become more democratic and get
closer to our people. The checks and balances was created on the philosophy of Baron de... Show

Which is why dictators usually reserve the right of overriding their parliaments, government and
courts even though they designate power for most situations. It s also why dictatorships are far
more efficient in crisis situations i.e. war, then democracies. (Separation of Powers) Some likes
to believe that Machiavellian ideas about society do not hold, but the thought of philosophy, they
do. Without separation of powers, there wouldn t be a dictatorship, but feudal order, where the
president for life hands out favors to his assemblies which later on combines economic issues
and violence to keep control of society. However, if poorly instructed, with separation of powers
one power keeps other powers in check; if that does not work in society, nothing else does. This
idea in the Constitution has stopped many problems from arising. Real life conflicts that test the
system have occurred throughout history. After the Civil War President Andrew Johnson vetoed
over 20 bills. After the Civil War Congress overrode over 20 Presidential vetoes. In 1987 President
Ronald Reagan appointed Judge Robert Bork to the Supreme Court, his nomination was

Analysis Of The Movie The Fuck Just Happened
It had been a blur. One second, she had been desperately fending off the timed and grueling
blows of the enraged champion, the next, Ava had been lost to the world, her head left reeling
as she slowly murmured to no one in particular What the fuck just happened? It was as if the
entire world had crumbled around her, and it had all happened so quickly. She had victory at her
fingertips, as well as Aida s untouched sex, and then she had lost it all. Now, all she could do was
look upwards at the bright lights which shone so brightly, exposing her weakness for the world to
see. So this is what losing feels like she thought rather naively.
And her thoughts here cut short just then. There would be no time to try and understand what had ...

She knew that there were people that collected these types of things, and even ones that would
bring them, nailed onto a poster, in support for the opponent. What was worse was that her panties
had went with the shorts, and from the brief glimpse upwards to the audience, the same person had
collected every bit of her outfit. She didn t know why, but she had a feeling that it would be
appearing in her next fight, and that bothered her to no end. Yet, all she could do, despite her rage
and embarrassment, was to silently take the abuse of Aida, hoping that her end would be quick and
plotting for revenge.
That said, it was rather difficult to focus on planning her revenge when her backside was being
brutalized, with hard slaps raining down on the tender flesh, leaving behind red prints that marked
her as exactly what she was for the night; property. What was worse was the cheers that followed
each action, a constant reminder of the public nature of her humiliation, the eyes of the audience
burning holes in her nubile form, the overwhelming presence of Aida placating her, the soul
crushing defeat still enough to quiet down most of her resistance for the moment.
But then, a line was crossed. She felt a fistful of her brunette locks being forced upwards, her
crimson face now forced to stare at the wide eyes of the audience, her humiliation now easily
evident on her face. She knew just how embarrassed and defeated she looked, and this

  • 2. Industrial Organizational Psychology The medical profession is one of the most crucial professions in any country, including the United States. As such, it is ideal to refine processes and practices in order to maximize the output of employees within this profession. Although such an outcome is desired of any sort of organization that industrial organizational psychologists work in, it is pivotal to achieve this objective in the medical profession for the simple fact that the result of medical procedures directly affects the health and vitality of the profession at large. Industrial organizational psychologists improve workplace conditions for employees (No author, 2013). Thus, there is increased scrutiny on industrial organizational psychologists and there work within the medical field which may account for the fact that traditionally, there are very few I O psychologists working in health care settings (Ehler et al, 2003). However, this traditional dearth of industrial organizational involvement in this industry only makes that which has been documented all the more valuable. A recent research study on resuscitation for children conducted at the University of Calgary illustrates how some medical organizations have used industrial organizational psychology to train employees and influence future selection criteria for them. During this particular study, employees involved in these procedures are trained in a single day by filming their reactions to simulated resuscitation scenarios with children. Both the ... This is to say, through marketing, this new cinema will be able to monitor and adapt to external factors that affect success or failure such as the economy and competition, as well as be able to collect data to resolve specific marketingissues. The other role will be that of consumer analysis. Risk of understanding the market A successful approach to market orientation involves a systematic approach to researching consumer behaviour. Missing the mark in this process creates a system whereby the company uses ineffective data in its approach to reaching out to customers. Working with wrong data is often worse than working with no data at all. In short, a company that is very small, lack research resources or has high segmentation between its departments is at a disadvantage when it comes to establishing marketing orientation. 2. Risk of understanding the customer A global market place has increased competitiveness across all consumer brands. The internet has created a system whereby consumers can easily comparison, shop, read peer reviews and access consumer reports at the click of the button. To effectively market to this new, highly informed consumer, an approach to marketing orientation must be flexible and must be4 quickly altered to meet the ever changing thought process and demands of today s savvy customer. He wrote in many different styles, including passionate love poems such this chosen poem. This is one of the greatest poem I ve ever came across. Pablo really expressed his love and feelings towards his no longer loved one. Reading this poem showed me how loyal and strong he is as well as remembering all the memories whether they were a happy memories or sad ones. • 5. Ethical Issues In Ethics Ethics The field of ethics (or moral philosophy) involves systematizing, defending, and recommending concepts of right and wrong behavior. Philosophers today usually divide ethical theories into three general subject areas: metaethics, normative ethics, and applied ethics. Metaethics investigates where our ethical principles come from, and what they mean. Are they merely social inventions? Do they involve more than expressions of our individual emotions? Metaethical answers to these questions focus on the issues of universal truths, the will of God, the role of reason in ethical judgments, and the meaning of ethical terms themselves. Normative ethics takes on a more practical task, which is to arrive at moral standards that regulate right ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to many feminist philosophers, traditional morality is male centered since it is modeled after practices that have been traditionally male dominated, such as acquiring property, engaging in business contracts, and governing societies. The rigid systems of rules required for trade and government were then taken as models for the creation of equally rigid systems of moral rules, such as lists of rights and duties. Women, by contrast, have traditionally had a nurturing role by raising children and overseeing domestic life. These tasks require less rule following, and more spontaneous and creative action. Using the woman s experience as a model for moral theory, then, the basis of morality would be spontaneously caring for others as would be appropriate in each unique circumstance. On this model, the agent becomes part of the situation and acts caringly within that context. This stands in contrast with male modeled morality where the agent is a mechanical actor who performs his required duty, but can remain distanced from and unaffected by the situation. A care based approach to morality, as it is sometimes called, is offered by feminist ethicists as either a replacement for or a supplement to traditional male modeled moral ... Although the unemployment rate was zero percent women and African American workers were becoming increasingly unhappy with their roles in the American post war economy. Employment of women in America was at an all time high reaching 19 million by 1945. However, the traditional gender roles between men and women created tension after the war due to women s push for opportunity outside of their typical roles at home. • 7. Analyzing M. Night Shyamalan s After Earth Danger is real, but fear is a choice. As intriguing and captivating as this catch phrase sounds, the film as a whole may not fit that classification. While M. Night Shyamalan s After Earth (2013) is ineffective in reaching some of its audiences as anticipated, others seem to have enjoyed the movie thoroughly. The filmopens with a promising story where humans are forced to escape a polluted Earth inhabited by an alien race that is trained to exterminate them and retreat to Nova Prime, a new home, to find refuge. General Cypher Rage, played by Will Smith, plays a fearless warrior who has superior ghosting ability to mask his fear which makes him invulnerable to the aliens. After Earth in the end proves to be a misfire at the box office because of its dry and predictable story. M. Night Shyamalanis known for having twists in his stories, but this film does not seem to follow that successful formula, and it eventually costs him. Throughout the film, only three major things happen: a plane crash, Kitai running to retrieve the beacon, and a fight that brings the movie to an end. Evidently, it is not possible to say that the film has no high points, but as soon as it looks like the storyline is progressing, it ended and moved on to the next scene. There is an instance in the film where Kitai is running from lethal dogs. When suddenly they fence him from all corners; this build up turns into a that s it moment when Kitai escapes through a little gap between the trees. Shyamalan seems to find little loopholes that he can use to save some time instead of thinking of a more innovative way to get through obstacles. As soon as evening took over Earth, the temperature drops rapidly. Kitai is fast asleep in the midst of the jungle, not knowing of the danger that surrounds him. Nonetheless, this dangers does not prove to be a big deal for Shyamalan because in a matter of seconds a gigantic bird appears and protects Kitai under its wings. When the situation appears most intense, Shyamalan resorts to a convenient solution to get the characters out of threatening situations. Because of this, the film does not ... Bedtime Stories As Told By Our Dad Who Messed Them Up This past December I had the honor of being a clown for Perry High School s children show, Bedtime Stories As Told by Our Dad Who Messed Them Up which means I watched the show three different times excluding dress rehearsal and any practices I attended. Two performances were held on December 1st and one performance was presented on December 2nd. On Friday, December 1st children from Perry Elementary schools and St. Joan of Arc were bussed to the high school to watch the show. The clowns were given the job of seating these energetic excited little youngsters who were hilarious and so interactive. Every time one of the actors would ask an open ended question the kids would shout what they thought the answer was. There was one moment when one of the characters was trying to figure out Rumpelstiltskin s name so she listed names which could be correct. Most of the kids shouted No! when she would list a name but there was one kid in the back who kept on shouting his name and the clowns in the back were cracking up. Essay Comparing Gilgamesh And The Flood Throughout the readings of both The Flood from the Epic of Gilgamesh and excerpts from Genesis 6:5 9:17: The Flood , one has noticed numerous similarities that connect the two articles. Before one has read the articles, one notices that both readings were written a long time ago in the B.C. era. Both the readings talk about a God or multiple gods creating a flood because the humans expressed wickedness. The purpose of the flood was to wipe out mankind. The two readings ask for a man to build a massive ark/boat. Both the boats were sealed with pitch. Both stories talk about the God/gods telling the man what dimensions the boat shall be built with. One believes that it is possible that the author of Genesis had some knowledge of the Epic of Gilgamesh because the readings correlate together so well. The Epic of Gilgamesh originated before Genesis and shares great detail between both stories. Both of the readings talk about the same event on our planet. Both Genesis and the Epic of Gilgamesh documented this event at the same time and are expressing/sharing it in a way they both understand. One of these accounts may have been altered by a mix up in oral tradition. How Did The English Reformation Influence Religion The English Reformation The English Reformation in the sixteenth century significantly influenced religion and political ideology that would consequently impact the theology and laws formed presently. The English Reformation derived from King Henry VIII of England s personal desire to divorce his Spanish wife. The Pope s refusal to grant King Henry VIII the divorce angered him, resulting in his actions to remove ties from the Catholic Church and establish himself as the head of the Christian faith in England (Brinkley 21). • 11. Inner City Paint Case Industry Eight Small/Medium Entrepreneurial Ventures Inner City Paint Corporation Donald F. Kuratko and Norman]. Gierlasinski (Revised) HISTORY Stanley Walsh began Inner City Paint Corporation in a run down warehouse, which he rented, on the fringe of Chicago s downtown business area. The company is still 10cated at its original site. Inner City is a small company that manufactures wall paint. It does not compete with giants such as Glidden and DuPont. There are small paint manufacturers in Chicago that supply the immediate area. The proliferation of paint manufacturers is due to the fact that the weight of the product (52 12 pounds per 5 gallon container) makes the cost of shipping great distances prohibitive. The warehouse manager keeps a mental count of what is in stock. He documents (on a lined yellow pad) what has been shipped for the day and to whom. That list is given to the billing clerk at the end of each day. The cost of the materials to produce flat white paint is $2.40 per gallon. The cost per gallon for colors is approximately 40% 50% higher. The 5 gallon covered plastic pails cost Inner City $1.72 each. The 55 gallon drums (with lids) are $8.35 each. (see Exhibit 1). Selling price varies with the quantity purchased. To the average customer, flat white sells at $27.45 for 5 gallons and $182.75 for 55 gallons. Colors vary in selling price because of the variety in pigment cost and quantity ordered. Customers purchase on credit and usually pay their invoices in 30 to 60 days. Inner City telephones the customer after 60 days of nonpayment and inquires when payment will be made. MANAGEMENT The President and majority stockholder is Stanley Walsh. He began his career as a house painter and advanced to become a painter for a large decorating company. Walsh painted mostly walls in large commercial buildings and hospitals. Eventually, he came to believe that he could produce a paint that was less expensive and of higher quality than what was being used. A keen desire to open his own business resulted in the creation of Inner City Paint Corporation. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Jeff Erickson clarified the distinction between the device/carrier contract and the MDM initiative and informed the group of the rationale behind separating the two initiatives for the near term at least. He stated that registering a device to the MDM solution becomes a pre requisite to allow the device to connect to NIH networks and reiterated the difference of GFE versus BYOD/POE; one we own and one we manage. The assumption is the MDM will be hosted as a cloud service and will integrate into the cloud instance of O365. Ethnography is a method of describing a culture and the behaviours that are exhibited (Barroso Cameron, 2013, p. 179). The limitation to utilizing this research method in Oster, Mayan, and Toth s study, which primarily utilized focused ethnographies, is that the researchers may not involve participants from a similar community (2013). These findings can help guide future nursing practice because from early on, nurses are taught the importance of patience centred, strength based care (Gottlieb, 2014). Improving strength based care in indigenous communities will allow members with gestational diabetes, let alone any other health conditions to build upon person and community assets when they are working to improve health. By using various writing approaches to convey the theme of the novel, Hesse appeals to the readers senses and aides them in grasping the novel. Included in these techniques are symbolism, metaphor, allusion, and archetypes. He compares many issues that Siddhartha faces to everyday objects and forces, making the noveleasier to understand. He lets go of the tree and considers suicide, but immediately sinks back underneath its trunk when he realizes how childish the thought of killing himself is. By showing the reader how drastically different Siddhartha s decisions and ideas are while he s away from a tree as opposed to underneath of one, we see just how strong its symbolism in the novel is. The use of this archetype shows the audience how important wisdom and intelligence are. Another example of cross cultural themes found in Siddhartha is the symbolism of the river. We find that in many civilizations rivers represent life and the path we take to find our destiny. Garth Brooks song quot; The River quot; is a perfect example of the usage of rivers as a metaphor for life: quot;...Trying to learn from what s behind you and never knowing what s in store, makes each day a constant battle just to stay between the shores... quot; This quote from the song can be directly compared to Siddhartha s life, as he lives his life trying to gain new knowledge and learn from his experiences. By personifying the river and actually making it a character at the end of the novel, it strengthens the image in a reader s mind of the path that Siddhartha must follow through his experience on Earth. • 24. The Three Major Aspects Of Industrialization From 1865 To... There are three major aspects of industrialization from 1865 to 1920 that influenced U.S. society, economy and politics. These are urbanization, working conditions and laissez faire government. Urbanization created cities who offered large numbers of workers for new factories. In turn, more factories were built. Workers, both native born and immigrants, moved to cities looking for jobs. Industrialism and post industrialism let to a decline in patriarchy within the family because of the changes that were made to society. The birth of the Industrial Revolution had one staggering advantage, even to the most distanced and skeptical farmer: a living could be made that was not subject to climate changes. Therefore, a man could actually be assured of regular, dependable wages. This did not, however, translate into a vast emigration of farmers to the new cities. An economy based upon agriculture is altogether distinct from an industrial one. The former is dependent upon the unpredictable elements of nature and the weather, the consequences of which could lead to ruin and famine. Indispensable to this growth and development were an unprecedented surge in immigration and urbanization after the Civil War. American society was in transition. The industrial revolution meant more money and wealth for the upper classes, especially the owners of large companies. It was thought that the wealth would be invested back into new factories, so the Americans accepted this wealth distribution. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 32. Hume on Miracles Essay Hume on Miracles It is evident in David Hume s writing of An Equity Concerning Human Understanding that he does not believe that miracles take place. Hume is a man of logic, who believes in experience over knowledge. Of course it is hard for such a man to believe in extraordinary claims without being there to witness them. Especially when such events require a lot of faith. In order for an event to be deemed a miracle, it must disobey the laws of nature. However, it is these same laws that disprove almost any miracle that has ever been reported. He writes that some events that people report as miracles truly are not. For example, it is not a miracle, that fire burns wood, or that a healthy man dies, because both of these are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Then and only then would he be able to be sure that a person was not motivated by any other force when claiming that what they saw was actually a miracle. In so many words, Hume wrote, that no testimony is sufficient to establish a miracle, unless the testimony is of such a kind that its falsehood would be more miraculous than the fact which it endeavors to establish #8230; (pg. 674, col.1). He then goes on to say that at no time has there been any miracle attested by a sufficient number of men of such unquestioned good sense, education, and learning, as to secure us against all delusion in themselves #8230; (pg. 674, col.2). His point being that no scholar would ever back such an obsurd story because of the risk of being ridiculed by his piers. He says that miracles are further disproved by the fact that most of them are reported by ignorant, barbarous people of past generations. Some of the things that these people have reported as marvelous are common among later generations, so their mysteriousness has been lost and they are no longer miracles. If you are wondering why stories like these do not originate today, Hume says they do, but we rule them out as lies. According to him, people have always had tendencies to stretch the truth and ... The Internet and User Content Essay In the January 18th, 2012 New York Times article The False Ideals of the Web , Jaron Lanier attempts to take a very difficult issue one that many view in terms of black or white and find some middle ground. Unfortunately, what he ends up doing in the article is create an either/or situation, rather than find any middle ground. In the end we are left in the same situation that we started with. In the first paragraph, Jaron appeals to the pathos of the reader; he assumes that the reader is of the generation that has grown up in the digital age, thus they would agree that the most important aspect of the internet is the people who contribute to it. However, there is no reason to ever assume that. Some people may actually believe that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Without support for this statement, there is no reason to ever believe what the author has said. In addition, the author appeals to the readers ethos, as well as an appeal to authority, in that we re expected to accept the opinions of these people, simply because the author says we should. The author then goes on to state, Those rare tech companies that have come out in support of SOPA are not merely criticized but barred from industry events and subject to boycotts. We, the keepers of the flame of free speech, are banishing people for their speech. The result is a chilling atmosphere, with people afraid to speak their minds. It s hard to see, but this is definitely a fallacy of equivocation. The author is comparing the corporations who wish to make it illegal to upload user content if it contains anything they have made.
