My second method was researching the professional and incredible hypnotist Richard Barker,

Some background information about Richard Barker is that for the last 20 years he has worked
his magic of hypnosis on thousands of patients around the world. One of the reasons that Richard
Barker is an all around renown hypnotist is because of his unique style of hypnotism. His style

Post Colonial Mexico Essay
The history of Post colonial Mexico included many successful and influential leaders: Porfirio
Diaz, Francisco Madero, Francisco (Pancho) Villa, and Emiliano Zapata. Disparities in
classification of the revolution arise from the numerous factions and ideological assumptions
advocated for the overthrow of Diaz s rule, hence one can argue that it was a political, social, or
economical revolution. A social revolution advocates a complete transformation of all characteristic
aspects of society, encompassing the political structure, economically distribution, and social
hierarchy. These men set forth some major objectives to revive Mexicothat led to the Mexico
Revolution of 1910 1916 and the Constitution of 1917.

The Plan of San Luis Potosi simply was for the people of Mexico to raise their arms to overthrow
the dictatorship of Diaz and reinstitute democracy. The countryside and city joined together
under the leadership of Francisco Madero to overthrow Porfirio Diaz after 1910. There were a
number of revolts and uprisings around the country in Madero s name. In February 1911,
Madero and his men attached the city of Casas Grandes in Chihuahua and defeated Diaz s
federals. Madero and his men continued attacking other cities and they were warned not to get
too close to the U.S. border because it might hurt Americans in the process of them fighting
within their own country. However, his generals, Pascal Orozco and Francisco Villa, were eager to
fight. They attacked Juarez against Madero s orders, and defeated Diaz s federal troops again. On
May 1911, a peace treaty was signed and Porfirio Diaz agreed to resign and to go into exile. On
November 1911, Francisco I. Madero became the first new President of Mexico in almost 30
years. From the beginning, he was a moderate. He wanted to challenge Diaz, but he did not want
to institute policies that went against the rich landowner class to which his family belonged. He
kept most of the power structure created by Diaz intact, much to the dismay of those who had
hoped for significant change. Very quickly, Madero alienated his former allies, Pascal Orozco and
Emiliano Zapata. Emiliano Zapata was born in

Darfur Conflict
I. Introduction Almost five years have passed since Darfur, the western region of Sudan, erupted
in bloody conflict. The crisis in Darfur is not an accidental disaster, or a human catastrophe that
humanitarian intervention can reverse or solve. The conflict is as not simple as presented in the
media, which casts the conflict in terms of Arabs versus black Africans. The reality is far more
muddled. It is a human tragedy, brewing for decades, that finally erupted into a vicious cycle of
violence in 2003.[1] The Darfur conflict is not only a problem for the Sudanese, but is also a
regional problem. The conflict is threatening the stability in other regions of Sudan, and in
neighboring countries like Chad, and the Central African Republic. Looking at its nature,
magnitude and internal dynamics that fuel it, one can see that, unless it is addressed soon, the
conflict has the potential to plague the whole region with a continuous cycle of violence and
lawlessness.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As a result, regional and international actors have carried out several peace initiatives to end the
violence. The peace efforts that constitute the Darfur peace process include the N Djamena
peace negotiations of September 2003 and April 2004,[2] The Addis Ababa peace negotiations
of May 2004,[3] the Abuja peace negotiations of August 2004 May 2006,[4] and the Sirte peace
negotiations of October 2007.[5] These peace initiatives have not made substantial progress
towards sustainable peace. Since the peace efforts began in 2003, every peace effort has been
followed by increased violence, and ultimately, the peace process has failed. Therefore, the key
research question that this paper sets out to answer is: Why did the Darfur Peace Process

The Detective Chief Inspector Of The Inspector Calls
Not another sound is heard from the other end of the phone aside a small gasp and a few gentle,
shaking breaths, before the blaring beep signals that the caller has just hung up. Now, enter
Detective Chief Inspector Banks. His appearance denotes a man of wealth; a portly fellow with
quite the beer gut. He could perhaps be described as abrasive or as lacking in regard for others,
with qualities of a dictator, or as dominant, being ever one to take charge. He seemed to gain
little happiness from his position, ever one for being pessimistic, or simply a realist as he tells
everyone, and is an avid gambler with no other relations. After the line ends the call, Chief
Banks sighs, rubbing a hand along the stubble that lines his chin, slow and harsh. A groan
escapes his lips along with the chair as he stands, hands fumbling along his desk until he
manages to gather what he was after: keys and packet of cigarettes. As soon as Banks stands,
another movement within the room is to be heard also. This is Detective Chief Rivers, a lean
and awkward young man of 6 2 . He has jet black hair and a long nose, and his personality is
almost the opposite of Banks ; he is eager and obedient, submissive and optimistic, and always
willing to give his time to assist the aid of the Chief, whom he regards with the utmost respect
for. C mon, we ve got a call, Banks states with a lack of care to his voice that could be seen as
apathy, shrugging on his coat. You re driving. Eager to help and to

1984 Similarities Between 1984 And 1984
1984 is based in a dystopian world that is controlled by the supreme leader, Big Brother. Big
Brother and other members of the inner party have the ability to watch every move a citizen makes,
hear every conversation, and read every thought. The country of Oceania is controlled by 4
ministries that maintain the jobs in the government. The ministry of peace controls all war for
Oceania. The ministry of plenty deals with all the economics for Oceania. The ministry of love
handles law and order for Oceania. The ministry of truth controls all news articles, entertainment,
education, and art. Winston Smith, being the protagonist, works in the ministry of truth. He secretly
hates Big Brother and the rest of the party.
The Hunger Games is also based in a dystopian world which is controlled by The Capitol. The
country is split into 13 districts. Each district is numbered 1 13. The richer districts are 1 9 and
the poorest districts are 10 13. The country is controlled by one party who decides all and every

Comparing Crimson Tide And A Soldier s Story
The movies I am reviewing are Crimson Tide and A Soldier s Story. The main characters in
Crimson Tide are Captain Ramsay, played by Gene Hackman; and Lieutenant Commander Hunter,
played by Denzel Washington, Ramsay s executive officer. The main characters in A Soldier s
Story are Captain Davenport, played by Howard Rollins; and Sergeant Waters, played by Adolph
Caesar. Ironically, in this movie a young Denzel Washington
played a prominent role as Private First
Class Peterson. This was before he became a household name. Arguably, this movie catapulted him
into superstardom. This paper will compare and contrast the leadershipstyles of Captain Ramsay and
Sergeant Watters.
The scene in Crimson Tide was aboard a nuclear submarine called the USS Alabama. Facing threat
of a nuclear attack from a Russian submarine, Ramsay and Hunter found themselves locked in a
power struggle because Hunter refused Ramsay s orders to launch a preemptive nuclear strike
pending confirmation of an aborted emergency action message (EAM).
Hunter s insubordination led to a mutiny and a series of armed standoffs aboard the submarine
between those loyal to Hunter and those loyal to Ramsay. When the EAM the finally came through,
Hunter s insubordination turned out to avert nuclear war. Ramsey quietly conceded that Hunter was
a correct to suggest waiting on confirmation and recommended Hunter for his next promotion
before a disciplinary hearing.

Analysis Of George Washington Carver s The Golden Door...
George Washington Carver once said Education is the key to unlock the golden door of freedom.
Freedom can be defined in various ways by different people. To many immigrants, America is
often seen as that opportunity of freedom, the freedom to learn, the freedom to love, and even just
the freedom to exist. In this paper, I will put into words the story behind a second generation
female immigrant s experiences. By using various articles and notes given in class, I will talk
about her and her familys assimilation process and how their freedom involves the power of
education. I interviewed a second generation individual for this paper. I shall call her Margo, for
the sake of confidentiality purposes. She is currently a high school student. Margo was born in
America to two immigrant parents, making her a second generation immigrant (Feliciano Lec 01
/04/16). Both of Margo s parents migrated from Sri Lanka, a small country located by the tip of
India. Margo s parents came to America to escape the ongoing civil war that was taking place in
Sri Lanka. There was a rivalry between the Tamils and the Sinhalese, two groups of people in Sri
Lanka. Being Tamil, her family was faced with so many disadvantages, seeing that the Sinhalese
were the dominant group. During the war, her family faced a lot of discrimination. Margo s mom
s brother was shot to death in the middle of the street for no reason at all. Tired of all of the
injustices faced, Margo s parents decided to migrate to the

The King Of The Franks Essay
Sabrina Fearon
History 8G
4/14/16
Some are born great, some achieve greatness, and some have greatness thrust upon them.
William Shakespeare
Do you agree/disagree/partially agree that Charlemagne was an example of all three?
Clovis, king of the Franks, established the Merovingian Empire in 481. Then, in 511, he split his
empire between his four sons. The kings in the Merovingian line continued to hand down their
thrones to their later generations, which slowly started to make them weak. This was because
they were using nepotism instead of giving positions based on merit. So, after time, positions
called Mayors of the Palace were formed. Mayors of the Palace, according to the dictionary,
were people of a line of hereditary administrative lieutenants to the Merovingian kings who
eventually took over royal function and title in the Frankish kingdoms . Over time, the
descendants of Clovis became to be known as Do Nothing kings , because they relied on the
Mayors of the Palace to do work. The Do Nothing kings began to have virtually no power, but
they still held on to their title as king. One of the most famous Mayors of the Palace was Charles
Martel. His son, Pepin became the Frankish king. Pepin s son was Charlemagne. Charlemagne, or
Charles the Great, was the emperor of the Holy Roman Empire, who achieved many well known
accomplishments which have shaped the political, military, and religious aspects of Europe today.
Charlemagne was known by Einhart as a good father,

Essay on Swifts Powerful Message in A Modest Proposal
Swifts Powerful Message in A Modest Proposal
In the Holy Bible, Jesus Christ states that there will always be poor, pathetic, struggling masses and
nothing we can do will ever completely eliminate this element. Swift also acknowledges the
homeless people, but in a different vein than Christ. In A Modest Proposal, the narrator expresses
pity for the poor, but at the same time he strives to maintain his social dominance over them.
According to Swift, the English Irish common people of the time exist in a disgusting state, a fact
that he attempts to make the English Parliament aware of. The poor that Swift refers to are
Catholics, peasants, and every homeless man, woman, and child in the entire kingdom. Swift is ...

The last statement regarding the Pretender in Spain is a stab at Catholicism, the Pretender, being
the Catholic James II, claimant to the English crown. In fact, Catholics are the butt of many
sardonic jokes in the essay. Swift viewed Catholics as the main cause of this deplorable state, being
the principal breeders of the nation as well as our most dangerous enemies (2184). This refers to the
Catholic doctrine prohibiting birth control.
Swift estimates that there are 120,000 children of poor parents born annually. These children are a
burden on society because . . .we can neither employ them in handicraft or agriculture (2183), they
have no practical skills or uses. To deal with this problem, Swift makes his modest proposal, using
a device that is timeless in its effectiveness shock value:
[A] healthy child well nursed is at a year old a most delicious
nourishing, and wholesome food, whether stewed, roasted,
baked or boiled; and I make no doubt that it will equally serve
in a fricassee or a ragout. (2182)

Reasons For The Death Of Romeo And Juliet
Romeo and Juliet are a play based on two star crossed lovers who ended in tragedy. Love,
Irrational thinking and the family feud among the two households along with Tybalt provoking
fights, and Lord Capulet forcing Juliet to marry Count Paris whom she did not want to marry.
The three main reasons for the death of Romeo and Juliet are the characters Lord Capulet and
Tybalt as well as timing and fate of all the events and confrontations leading up to their deaths.
Lord Capulet forced Juliet into a marriage that she had no say in and was only to the benefit of her
father. Tybalt provoked many fights with both Romeo and Mercutio his friend, in turn, eventually
killing Mercutio. Romeo then kills Tybalt worsening Romeo and Juliet s relationship by pulling
them apart. Finally, the feud among the two households from the get go prohibited their
relationship. All in all, these three aspects of the play lead to the deaths of Romeo and Juliet. Lord
Capulet and Lady Capulet, the father and Mother of Juliet were the first decisive factor in pulling
apart Romeo and Juliet. The parents of Juliet constant mission to court her to Count Paris affect
Juliet in many ways. It gave her hatred for her father and mother as well as hurting Romeo and
Juliet s marriage. Lord Capulet put stress and unwanted tension between the two lovers in turn
affecting their decision making ability. Although unknown to him, Lord Capulet greatly affected
Juliet s mental state as well. She was constantly,

How Rural Slaves Lived And Worked On Brazilian Sugar...
Throughout the 16th century, as there was a demographic collapse of the indigenous population,
there was now a new demand for slave labor in Latin America. In Brazil, the Portuguese needed a
large workforce to cultivate sugar plantations. As a result, numerous slaves from Africa were
imported to work on large plantationfields. In various plantations, rural slaves experienced harsh
working and living conditions. Few slaves had a high life expectancy. Robert Edgar Conrad in
Children of God s Fire, shares some primary sources that dealt with the types of environments and
conditions many slaves faced and encountered in Brazil. The sources also gave insight into the
regulations and economics/business of the slave trade. Conrad states that rural Brazil was a hell
for blacks (Conrad 54). Many slaves dealt with extremely harsh conditions just to keep the
European market in Latin American growing and profitable. This paper will analyze how rural
slaves lived and worked on Brazilian sugar plantations.
To start, in Brazil the Portuguese become convinced that full scale exploitation of the land was
imperative for the safety of their entire overseas empire. Sugar cultivation was the ideal crop to
guarantee the existence of a profitable colony. As a result, the Portuguese dominated the Atlantic
slave trade. Various slaves from different parts of Africa were brought to Brazil and experienced
difficult working and in living in Brazilian sugar plantations and that only slaves

Online Cash Advance Lenders Make a Mockery of Bans by States
A recent Washingtontimes.com article explored online lending and state bans of cash advance
companies operating within their jurisdictions. The article mentioned that many of these lenders
get around bans by ignoring state caps on interest rates and other regulations. Without storefront
options, cash advance lenders can still advertise online to deliver quick cash directly to borrowers
bank accounts even these kinds of loans are banned in the state. However, Google s decision to
ban payday lending ads could affect how these companies reach customers. Google recently decided
to ban loan advertising for loans with APRs higher than 36 percent according to a report from
Theguardian.com.
Despite state bans and fewer advertising opportunities to reach consumers, most people can still
search for these types of loans in browser based organic searches, and all evidence suggests that
they will continue doing so. Banned lenders simply find other ways to promote their products and
market loans directly to consumers in areas where their storefront operations are banned.
Millennials especially respond well to alternative financial services such as payday loans and
pawnshop borrowing according to research reported by Nationalpawnbrokers.org. Native American
tribes often partner with online lenders to offer loans to consumers in states where the industry is
banned.

The Pros And Cons Of Soda Ban
1Why has there been so much fuss about New York City s attempt to impose a soda ban,1 or
more precisely, a ban on large size sugary drinks ? After all, people can still get as much soda as
they want. This isn t Prohibition. It s just that getting it would take slightly more effort. So, why is
this such a big deal?
1 soda ban
In 2013, New York City passed a law prohibiting soda containers larger than 16 ounces in volume.
The New York State Court of Appeals later overturned the law.
2 Obviously, it s not about soda. It s because such a ban suggests that sometimes we need to be
stopped from doing foolish stuff, and this has become, in contemporary American politics, highly
controversial, no matter how trivial the particular issue. (Large cups of soda as symbols of human
dignity? Really?) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Julius Caesar, William Shakespeare introduced a conflict in Act 1 Scene 1 through the use of
language between the conversations of the commoners and the tribunes to indicate that not all are
content with Caesar s trip back home. To begin, the tribunes speech differs from the commoners
because they are degrading and dehumanizing them. The tribunes perceive the commoners

Analysis Of I m Ridiculous
The next afternoon, as promised, Joan returned to Perceval s chambers for a visit. Unfortunately, no
matter how hard she willed away the thoughts, she couldn t stop herself from thinking about
Perceval s head buried between her legs, or her mouth working his erection. Her heart pounded just
imagining it and her face felt warm. In the past, she might have thoughtsuch acts were a little scary
or overwhelming. But imagining engaging in such activities with Perceval was more exciting than
anything else.
Still, there was a time and place to have such thoughts, and now was not the time.
I m ridiculous, Joan admonished herself under her breath as she neared the castle. Pull yourself
together, Joan.
She approached the guard and went through the same process as the day before: announcing herself
to the guard, declaring she had no weapons, and stating her business. Joan was then permitted entry.
As she ascended the tower stairs, she had a wild idea: What would Perceval do if I pushed him
into the bed and unlaced his trousers like Carina did to Sir Michael, and then...
She shook off the images as she knocked on Perceval s chamber door and did her best to not think
of cucumbers.
Come, said Perceval, answering her knock.
Terrible word choice! Joan thought.
She pushed open the heavy wooden door and entered. Today, Perceval wore his tunic and he sat at
the dining table reading a book. Joan was thrilled to see him more up and about, but a part of her
had hoped to catch another

The Tragedy of Prince Hamlet
King Hamlet s death left a mark on everyone in the castle, after a while that all began to change
when Claudius married Hamlet s mother. Hamlet felt that everybody should be mourning his father
s death, and he felt betrayed by the sudden marriage. Hamlet becomes mad once he sees his father
as a ghost and seeks to avenge his father s death, not knowing that this would lead to his death.
The grief of King Hamlet s death and the reactions of his loved ones changed Prince Hamlet s
life by showing signs of post traumatic stress disorder. King Hamlet s death left a big mark on
his son Prince Hamlet, he was Hamlets idol. Hamlet wanted to commit suicide because he was
still mourning the death of his father, but he didn t because he thought of the consequences of
purgatory, where he would not go to heaven or hell but remain as a lost soul in the world (
Hamlet s ) These reactions relate to PTSD because Hamlet cannot let his father go and he also
suffers by the reactions of his loved ones who are calm and happy for Gertrude and Claudius.
Less than two months after his father s death, Hamlet noticed the reactions of his loved ones, his
mother married King Hamlet s brother Claudius whom became king after King Hamlet died, no
one had an issue with their marriage the only one who was disturbed by the marriage was Prince
Hamlet and he was disturbed by the reactions of his loved ones and everybody else. As the marriage

The Role of Responsibility to Protect in Syria
The end of the twentieth century brought with it a close to the era of mass human atrocities and a
new understanding of how conflict worked. With the end of World War II and the solidification of
state lines, no longer was conflict confined to border disputes. Increasingly so, conflicts occurred
internally within the state s own borders taking a greater toll on civilians and often escalating into
violent wars. From Cambodia to Rwanda and Argentina to Bosnia, the second half of the twentieth
century was riddled with genocide and the motto of never again continued to happen again. The
twenty first century ushered in a new ideology to prevent and stop mass atrocities. With the
realization that the doctrine of humanitarian intervention... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

stronghold city of Hama using heavy weaponry in 1982 leaving in its wake a massacre of

the beginning of the Arab Spring in 2011. Launching attacks on Lebanon and Israel throughout its
history caused Syria to become further isolated from the west until1990 when in a rare show, it
aligned with the west and other Arab states in order to stop Saddam Hussein in Iraq. After three
decades of rule, Hafiz al Asad died and was succeeded by his son, Bashar, who was also elected
president through referendum. It seemed as though democratic rule would finally take hold in
Syria. After the September 11th, 2001 terrorist attacks, President Bashar al Asad apprehensively
cooperated with the United States in order to combat al Qaeda. This short lived collaboration
terminated when President al Asad opposed the United State s war in Iraq. Further tensions
mounted between the two countries when Lebanese Prime Minister Rafiq Hariri was assassinated
in 2005 and the U.S. withdrew its ambassador to Syria opening the door for Syrian alignment with
Iran and other militant groups, especially Hezbollah in Lebanon. Syria s continued subversive

scene. As of 2015, 265 million people play soccer in the world. This widely known game was

Not only does the world affect soccer and its ideas, but soccer creates substantial effects on the
world as well. Soccer extensively influences politics all over the world, some of its effects
positive and some negative. One of the major positive effects the sport can have is its power to
stop wars and bring nations together. One prime example of this is in 1967, Pele, a world
famous Brazilian soccer star played in an exhibition match in Nigeria . Prior to this event,
Nigeria had been in the middle of a civil war, but when Pele arrived to play in the match, the
country called a 48 hour cease fire just to honor Pele and his talent . In 2007 in Ivory Coast, the
same thing happened again, only this time, Ivory Coast s own soccer team united the nation. Ivory
Coast had been at war with itself for five years when the national team played in the rebel capital.
Both government supporters and rebels were next to each other cheering in the stands because of
soccer instead of politics ( Football A Beautiful Game... ). Another time countries have made
peace over soccer was in 2008 and 2009 when Turkey and Armenia played in a World Cup
qualifying game. The leader of Turkey and Armenia met to watch the game together consequently
thawing relationships between the two countries (Weiner). Soccer can also be a vehicle for various

Recrystallization Of Naphthalene Lab Report
Experiment 4: Recrystallization of Pure Phthalic Acid, Benzoic Acid, and Naphthalene
Charles Nyberg
Gilbert Immanuel and Rachel Zigelsky
Mussie Gide Introduction Chemical experiments are often described, when they are finished, by the
yield or recovery of the target product or solid. Also melting point can be tested to determine purity
in a compound. Most times these chemicals are not completely pure so they can be recrystallized to
remove the impurities. The technique of recrystallization learned and utilized in this lab works best
to remove contaminates from nonvolatile organic solids.1 A solventis used that dissolves the solid
at room temperature and then the impurities can be removed via pipette or other simplified
removal process. When all impurities are dissolved and removed, a lattice or an ordered
structure in the form of crystals is able to be collected and observed. Some substances cannot be
recrystallized with only one solvent. Therefore, two solvents, or solvent pairs, can help dissolve
the substance at boiling point only and not room temperature.2 Solvent pairs are able to be
dissolved into each other but not anything else effectively. One part of the pair is used to prevent
dissolving at room temperature and the other half is used to help dissolve at boiling point. Lastly,
activated charcoal is utilized to remove brightly colored impurities from the dissolved solid
solutions. The charcoal attracts the impure substances and then is able to be

Khmer Rouge And Pol Pot Downfall
The Khmer Rouge and Pol Pot downfall To spare you is no profit, to destroy you is no loss.
These are the words the leader of the Khmer Rouge, Pol Pot. His plan to convert Cambodia s
capitalistic economy to a communist economy failure is what inevitably led to the cause of the
Cambodian Genocide. Pol Pot is responsible for the deaths of 1.5 million Cambodians during his
reign between 1975 1979.
Pol Pot, a man who valued Mao s Chinese communist way of living, saw the cities as the heart of
capitalism and therefore it had to be eliminated ( The Khmer Rouge and Pol Pot Regime ). With the
help of the Khmer Rouge guerrilla Army, the survivors of the Cambodian Genocide are left to deal
with their traumatic past and seek hope for a better future.
How It Started

to take steps to repair their relationship with the country. ( Norodom Sihanouk By Elizabeth

When one thinks of space, one is always left with questions because humanity can still not
describe it fully. When attempted, the general public describes it as an area in, which Earth
exists and is made up of solar systems consisting of a sun and planets. But nowadays, space has
turned into so much more; with recent discoveries space can be seen as a living system in which
there is a possibility that other life besides humanity is present. In the past space travel was said
to only be able to send drones or robots past the moon, but with recent advances the transport of
humans is closely becoming a fact. These advances in science are driven by the recent discoveries
like the fact that life was once present on Mars. However some among humanity... Show more

One of the arguments comes from conservative people of various faiths. Their argument follows
the belief that God only created one planet of life, causing any scientific theories related to life
outside of Earth to be rejected, since it would disprove the belief that God created Earth. Another
argument is that the money used to fund NASA s space exploration could be used in a better way.
According to Piers Bizony, I have for some time considered space research a gross waste of
money, time and effort that could be much better applied to the management of our own planet.
(9) This argument is understandable however the fact that global warming, and rainforests
depleting is occurring provides more of an incentive in finding another planet with life. It would
allow for a rebirth and have the world start over, since both of the effects are a caused by
humanity s daily lives. A third argument is that the Earth has not even been fully discovered yet
so it makes no sense to explore outside of it. According to Gary Westfahl In short, the history of
our species powerfully suggests that progress will come from continued stable life on Earth, and
that a vast new program of travel into space will lead to a new period of human stagnation. (11)
This argument is true that Earth has still not been discovered, but Westfahl fails to acknowledge
that with the study of Earth like planets we learn more about our universe and our planet. This
allows for the study of two subjects with one planet ultimately leading to a greater understanding of

  • 3. Post Colonial Mexico Essay The history of Post colonial Mexico included many successful and influential leaders: Porfirio Diaz, Francisco Madero, Francisco (Pancho) Villa, and Emiliano Zapata. Disparities in classification of the revolution arise from the numerous factions and ideological assumptions advocated for the overthrow of Diaz s rule, hence one can argue that it was a political, social, or economical revolution. A social revolution advocates a complete transformation of all characteristic aspects of society, encompassing the political structure, economically distribution, and social hierarchy. These men set forth some major objectives to revive Mexicothat led to the Mexico Revolution of 1910 1916 and the Constitution of 1917. When Diaz came into powered ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Plan of San Luis Potosi simply was for the people of Mexico to raise their arms to overthrow the dictatorship of Diaz and reinstitute democracy. The countryside and city joined together under the leadership of Francisco Madero to overthrow Porfirio Diaz after 1910. There were a number of revolts and uprisings around the country in Madero s name. In February 1911, Madero and his men attached the city of Casas Grandes in Chihuahua and defeated Diaz s federals. Madero and his men continued attacking other cities and they were warned not to get too close to the U.S. border because it might hurt Americans in the process of them fighting within their own country. However, his generals, Pascal Orozco and Francisco Villa, were eager to fight. They attacked Juarez against Madero s orders, and defeated Diaz s federal troops again. On May 1911, a peace treaty was signed and Porfirio Diaz agreed to resign and to go into exile. On November 1911, Francisco I. Madero became the first new President of Mexico in almost 30 years. From the beginning, he was a moderate. He wanted to challenge Diaz, but he did not want to institute policies that went against the rich landowner class to which his family belonged. He kept most of the power structure created by Diaz intact, much to the dismay of those who had hoped for significant change. Very quickly, Madero alienated his former allies, Pascal Orozco and Emiliano Zapata. Emiliano Zapata was born in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Darfur Conflict I. Introduction Almost five years have passed since Darfur, the western region of Sudan, erupted in bloody conflict. The crisis in Darfur is not an accidental disaster, or a human catastrophe that humanitarian intervention can reverse or solve. The conflict is as not simple as presented in the media, which casts the conflict in terms of Arabs versus black Africans. The reality is far more muddled. It is a human tragedy, brewing for decades, that finally erupted into a vicious cycle of violence in 2003.[1] The Darfur conflict is not only a problem for the Sudanese, but is also a regional problem. The conflict is threatening the stability in other regions of Sudan, and in neighboring countries like Chad, and the Central African Republic. Looking at its nature, magnitude and internal dynamics that fuel it, one can see that, unless it is addressed soon, the conflict has the potential to plague the whole region with a continuous cycle of violence and lawlessness.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As a result, regional and international actors have carried out several peace initiatives to end the violence. The peace efforts that constitute the Darfur peace process include the N Djamena peace negotiations of September 2003 and April 2004,[2] The Addis Ababa peace negotiations of May 2004,[3] the Abuja peace negotiations of August 2004 May 2006,[4] and the Sirte peace negotiations of October 2007.[5] These peace initiatives have not made substantial progress towards sustainable peace. Since the peace efforts began in 2003, every peace effort has been followed by increased violence, and ultimately, the peace process has failed. Therefore, the key research question that this paper sets out to answer is: Why did the Darfur Peace Process ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Detective Chief Inspector Of The Inspector Calls Not another sound is heard from the other end of the phone aside a small gasp and a few gentle, shaking breaths, before the blaring beep signals that the caller has just hung up. Now, enter Detective Chief Inspector Banks. His appearance denotes a man of wealth; a portly fellow with quite the beer gut. He could perhaps be described as abrasive or as lacking in regard for others, with qualities of a dictator, or as dominant, being ever one to take charge. He seemed to gain little happiness from his position, ever one for being pessimistic, or simply a realist as he tells everyone, and is an avid gambler with no other relations. After the line ends the call, Chief Banks sighs, rubbing a hand along the stubble that lines his chin, slow and harsh. A groan escapes his lips along with the chair as he stands, hands fumbling along his desk until he manages to gather what he was after: keys and packet of cigarettes. As soon as Banks stands, another movement within the room is to be heard also. This is Detective Chief Rivers, a lean and awkward young man of 6 2 . He has jet black hair and a long nose, and his personality is almost the opposite of Banks ; he is eager and obedient, submissive and optimistic, and always willing to give his time to assist the aid of the Chief, whom he regards with the utmost respect for. C mon, we ve got a call, Banks states with a lack of care to his voice that could be seen as apathy, shrugging on his coat. You re driving. Eager to help and to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. 1984 Similarities Between 1984 And 1984 1984 is based in a dystopian world that is controlled by the supreme leader, Big Brother. Big Brother and other members of the inner party have the ability to watch every move a citizen makes, hear every conversation, and read every thought. The country of Oceania is controlled by 4 ministries that maintain the jobs in the government. The ministry of peace controls all war for Oceania. The ministry of plenty deals with all the economics for Oceania. The ministry of love handles law and order for Oceania. The ministry of truth controls all news articles, entertainment, education, and art. Winston Smith, being the protagonist, works in the ministry of truth. He secretly hates Big Brother and the rest of the party. The Hunger Games is also based in a dystopian world which is controlled by The Capitol. The country is split into 13 districts. Each district is numbered 1 13. The richer districts are 1 9 and the poorest districts are 10 13. Both have an overall ruler, Big Brother being the one for 1984 and The Capitol being the leaders for The Hunger Games. Both governments have government branch stations. For example, the ministries are the substations or organizations for the inner party in 1984. For Hunger Games, the first 9 districts handle all the government affairs while 10 13 handle more agriculture. As security exists in both books, 1984 has the thought police and members of the ministry of love to handle their traitors and criminals. The Copital in the Hunger Games uses the military to handle all criminals. Each government has their own strategy for keeping an eye on their citizens. Telescreens, small microphones secretly placed everywhere, and the thought police are strategies used in 1984. In The Hunger Games, simple cameras placed strategically all over the districts are ... • 7. Comparing Crimson Tide And A Soldier s Story The movies I am reviewing are Crimson Tide and A Soldier s Story. The main characters in Crimson Tide are Captain Ramsay, played by Gene Hackman; and Lieutenant Commander Hunter, played by Denzel Washington, Ramsay s executive officer. The main characters in A Soldier s Story are Captain Davenport, played by Howard Rollins; and Sergeant Waters, played by Adolph Caesar. Ironically, in this movie a young Denzel Washington played a prominent role as Private First Class Peterson. This was before he became a household name. Arguably, this movie catapulted him into superstardom. This paper will compare and contrast the leadershipstyles of Captain Ramsay and Sergeant Watters. The scene in Crimson Tide was aboard a nuclear submarine called the USS Alabama. Facing threat of a nuclear attack from a Russian submarine, Ramsay and Hunter found themselves locked in a power struggle because Hunter refused Ramsay s orders to launch a preemptive nuclear strike pending confirmation of an aborted emergency action message (EAM). Hunter s insubordination led to a mutiny and a series of armed standoffs aboard the submarine between those loyal to Hunter and those loyal to Ramsay. Freedom can be defined in various ways by different people. To many immigrants, America is often seen as that opportunity of freedom, the freedom to learn, the freedom to love, and even just the freedom to exist. In this paper, I will put into words the story behind a second generation female immigrant s experiences. By using various articles and notes given in class, I will talk about her and her familys assimilation process and how their freedom involves the power of education. I interviewed a second generation individual for this paper. I shall call her Margo, for the sake of confidentiality purposes. She is currently a high school student. Margo was born in America to two immigrant parents, making her a second generation immigrant (Feliciano Lec 01 /04/16). Both of Margo s parents migrated from Sri Lanka, a small country located by the tip of India. Margo s parents came to America to escape the ongoing civil war that was taking place in Sri Lanka. There was a rivalry between the Tamils and the Sinhalese, two groups of people in Sri Lanka. Being Tamil, her family was faced with so many disadvantages, seeing that the Sinhalese were the dominant group. During the war, her family faced a lot of discrimination. William Shakespeare Do you agree/disagree/partially agree that Charlemagne was an example of all three? Clovis, king of the Franks, established the Merovingian Empire in 481. Then, in 511, he split his empire between his four sons. The kings in the Merovingian line continued to hand down their thrones to their later generations, which slowly started to make them weak. This was because they were using nepotism instead of giving positions based on merit. So, after time, positions called Mayors of the Palace were formed. Mayors of the Palace, according to the dictionary, were people of a line of hereditary administrative lieutenants to the Merovingian kings who eventually took over royal function and title in the Frankish kingdoms . Over time, the descendants of Clovis became to be known as Do Nothing kings , because they relied on the Mayors of the Palace to do work. The Do Nothing kings began to have virtually no power, but they still held on to their title as king. One of the most famous Mayors of the Palace was Charles Martel. His son, Pepin became the Frankish king. Pepin s son was Charlemagne. • 15. How Rural Slaves Lived And Worked On Brazilian Sugar... Throughout the 16th century, as there was a demographic collapse of the indigenous population, there was now a new demand for slave labor in Latin America. In Brazil, the Portuguese needed a large workforce to cultivate sugar plantations. As a result, numerous slaves from Africa were imported to work on large plantationfields. In various plantations, rural slaves experienced harsh working and living conditions. Few slaves had a high life expectancy. Robert Edgar Conrad in Children of God s Fire, shares some primary sources that dealt with the types of environments and conditions many slaves faced and encountered in Brazil. • 35. Recrystallization Of Naphthalene Lab Report Experiment 4: Recrystallization of Pure Phthalic Acid, Benzoic Acid, and Naphthalene Charles Nyberg Gilbert Immanuel and Rachel Zigelsky Mussie Gide Introduction Chemical experiments are often described, when they are finished, by the yield or recovery of the target product or solid. Also melting point can be tested to determine purity in a compound. Most times these chemicals are not completely pure so they can be recrystallized to remove the impurities. The technique of recrystallization learned and utilized in this lab works best to remove contaminates from nonvolatile organic solids.1 A solventis used that dissolves the solid at room temperature and then the impurities can be removed via pipette or other simplified removal process. When all impurities are dissolved and removed, a lattice or an ordered structure in the form of crystals is able to be collected and observed. Some substances cannot be recrystallized with only one solvent. Therefore, two solvents, or solvent pairs, can help dissolve the substance at boiling point only and not room temperature.2 Solvent pairs are able to be dissolved into each other but not anything else effectively. One part of the pair is used to prevent dissolving at room temperature and the other half is used to help dissolve at boiling point. Lastly, activated charcoal is utilized to remove brightly colored impurities from the dissolved solid solutions. The charcoal attracts the impure substances and then is able to be ... When attempted, the general public describes it as an area in, which Earth exists and is made up of solar systems consisting of a sun and planets. But nowadays, space has turned into so much more; with recent discoveries space can be seen as a living system in which there is a possibility that other life besides humanity is present. In the past space travel was said to only be able to send drones or robots past the moon, but with recent advances the transport of humans is closely becoming a fact. These advances in science are driven by the recent discoveries like the fact that life was once present on Mars. However some among humanity... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One of the arguments comes from conservative people of various faiths. Their argument follows the belief that God only created one planet of life, causing any scientific theories related to life outside of Earth to be rejected, since it would disprove the belief that God created Earth. Another argument is that the money used to fund NASA s space exploration could be used in a better way. According to Piers Bizony, I have for some time considered space research a gross waste of money, time and effort that could be much better applied to the management of our own planet. (9) This argument is understandable however the fact that global warming, and rainforests depleting is occurring provides more of an incentive in finding another planet with life. It would allow for a rebirth and have the world start over, since both of the effects are a caused by humanity s daily lives. A third argument is that the Earth has not even been fully discovered yet so it makes no sense to explore outside of it. According to Gary Westfahl In short, the history of our species powerfully suggests that progress will come from continued stable life on Earth, and that a vast new program of travel into space will lead to a new period of human stagnation.
