The Impact Of Social Media On The Workplace
Building Relationships This experience is the first time I have been introduced to professional
relationships. I took the time to set up a LinkedIn account. It always brings a smile to my face when a
subcontractor requests to connect with me. I believe that social media outlets such as LinkedIn give
professionals an opportunity to keep up with each other s successes. The lowest level relationship I
have built is with the field workers from our concrete subcontractors. I have enjoyed getting to know
them and hearing how they got to Texas. One of the workers was born and raised in California. He
recently heard about how strong the economy was in Houston, so he packed everything up and moved
here. Another worker was born in Mexico and just recently became an American citizen. He is
enrolled night classes to strengthen his speaking skills. I have a tremendous amount of respect for the
men who work in the field. The highest level relationship I have built is with the chief executive
officer of Linbeck. I believe it says a lot about a company when even the highest levels of leadership
are able to recognize your face and call you by name. I am proud to be a part of a company who
values the idea of being a family. I believe the most important relationship I have established outside
of Linbeck is with project managers from the various trades. These men and women have taught me so
much about the specifics of their work. Whether I am talking to the specialty or electrical

The Concept Of Self Identity
The concept of Self Identity, and the theories that relate to it, are ever present in Mary Shelley s
Frankenstein. The concept of Self Identity is a Psychological concept that many famous Psychologists
have spent years studying. The main theories of self identity that relate to the story of Frankenstein are
those by Sigmund Freud, Carl Jung, and Jean Jacques Rousseau. The ideas of Sigmund Freud s
concept of Superego, Id, and Ego are represented by Victor s father, the creation, and Victor with their
actions in the novel. Carl Jung s theory of shadow and self is represented by Victor and his creation.
The theory of tabula rasa and nature versus nurture are shown by Victor and his relationship with his
creation. In Frankenstein, several psychological concepts based on self identity are showcased by
Victor and his relationships with other beings. Victor s own creation becomes representative of his Id,
through the creatures reliance on instinct and lack of ability to accept his own isolation. Freud
describes the Id as the instinctual part of our personality, and this includes sleeping, eating, and
procreating. The monster catches up with Victor and has a request for Victor, I am alone, and
miserable; man will not associate with me; but one as deformed and horrible as myself would not deny
herself to me... This being you must create (Shelley 104). The creature develops an immense
loneliness due to his being the only one of his kind, and threatens Victor if he does not

Metaphors In Dante s Inferno
Dante Alighieri was one of the most inspiring Italian poets in the middle ages. One of his greatest
writings is about the afterlife, from the depths of Hell in his own made Inferno, into the mountains of
Purgatory and in the ever lasting spirits of Heaven called the Paradiso. But my main focus on this
essay is what in Dante s life inspired him to write like he did, particularly his Inferno. Questions and
history may lead us to believe that was it was his love, war or political view that shaped him as an
artist. There is a gap in his history with some unknowns for the simplest things like what was his birth
date. But some metaphors from his Divine Comedy may answer these questions.
Even today, Dante is inspiring artists with his writings and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Florence at this time being a loathed, despised, derogated community with corruption and discard,
Dante Alighieri lived most of his days working on his writings that will last hundreds of years. Church
versus independence of the city states gave Dante the motivation to get involved of becoming a
member of political governing body. In this time Florence has split into two parties, Guelphs who
support the pope and Ghibellines that support the Roman Emperor with the need of more freedom.
Dante was part of the White Guelphs and fought in war of his cause but with seeing life and death in
the horrific battle of war, this may have lead to vision of his own Hell. Dante was exiled from the city
by Black Guelphs or else he would be burned to the stake in result of his family having to split apart
leaving behind his wife Gemma Donati and his four children. Dante spent 20 years drifting from city
to city thinking about his long lost love Beatrice who was once a childhood sweetheart and also his
writings that would be for nothing without his mentor Brunetto Latino. Eventually Florence granted
amnesty to Florentines in exile but required to pay a large fine, Dante just preferred his drifter days in
exile with no plans to return to

U.s. Foreign Policy Towards Belarus
To: Secretary of State John Kerry
From: Rob Foglia, country desk officer of Belarus
Re: Recommended U.S. foreign policy towards Belarus
Date: October 12, 2014
Oppression in Belarus
Breaking Free from Russia Belarus has the veil of a political stranglehold cast over it by the looming
and neighboring Russia. Freedoms are non existent, a tyrant maintains control over the country, and
democracy is nowhere in sight. I have a few recommendations on how U.S. foreign policy towards
Belarus can help fix many of these issues, and help direct the country towards Democracy. First, I will
highlight some history on the so called Republic of Belarus to help put some context on the situation.
Belarus became one of the first members of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This led to elections in the early 1990 s, and Belarus declared itself independent in July 27th, 1990,
and wrote a Declaration of State Sovereignty. The newly formed republic became primarily
communist, mainly because of all the Russian integration that had already occurred. In 1994, The
Republic of Belarus elected Alexander Lukashenko as the President of Belarus. He was officially
reelected in 2001, 2006 and 2010. However, the United States (as well as other western Nations) does
not recognize the results of the 2010 elections under which the Central Election Commission of
Belarus declared Lukashenko president. This is because Western countries decried the election as a
farce and an egregious affront to democracy and human rights. Many of Lukashenko s opposition
leaders had mysterious disappearances. The United States and the European Union called for the
release of all imprisoned former candidates, but took no further action except a travel ban on
Lukashenko. By contrast, countries such as Syria, Russia, and China congratulated the re elected
incumbent. This is just a sample of the Dictatorship that is veiled as a Republic in Belarus.
Transitioning into Democracy
For a nation to truly be free, certain rights have to be available to the people. Freedom of speech,
press, peaceful assembly, and religion are just a few of these things.

Analysis Of The Film Six Degrees Of Separation
In most films, the director choses a specific setting to help contextualize the time and place that the
film is taking place. In some films, however, the director purposely chooses background elements that
are significant to the plot as they convey tone, emotion, and ideas. In the films Six Degrees of
Separation (1933), Devil in a Blue Dress (1955), and The Human Stain (2003), the director of each
films chooses to incorporate historical subplots into the background of each film. The historical
subplots serve as extensions of the certain characters, helping to emphasize their inherent Otherness.
In Six Degrees of Separation, the director Fred Schepisi alludes to Sidney Poitier and a double sided
Kandinsky throughout the film to separate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Paul`s life is in chaos as he is attempting to uproot his entire life by creating a façade to appeal to the
white upper class. It is this façade, however, that gives Paul control in his life as he is finally able to
belong to a family with the Kittredges. This imbalance in Paul`s life causes him to be an Other
because he has changed his entire life to simply swindle wealthy whites. In Devil in a Blue Dress,
director Carl Franklin incorporates references to Delilah from The Imitation of Life (1934), the Black
Dahlia, and Oscar Micheaux`s The Betrayal (1948) to suggest that Daphne Monet will always be
marked with blackness, despite passing for a white. After getting his assignment to find Todd Carter`s
missing fiancé, Ezekiel Rawlins begins his search at a black juke joint where the Daphne is known to
frequent. At the club, the notion of recognition and misrecognition is employed as Ezekiel asks around
for a white girl. Additionally, he begins to misname Daphne by referring to her as Delilah and Dahlia.
The reference is an allusion to the 1934 film Imitation of Life. In the film, Delilah is a black
homemaker living in a subordinate role to her white friend Beatrice. Despite this subjugation, Delilah
is proud of her race. The comparison between Delilah and Daphne not only foreshadows Daphne`s
unsuccessful passing but also her inability to belong in a white relationship. The name Dahlia relates
to the Black Dahlia murder in 1947. This

It s Time to Abolish The Penny! Essay
Between 2001 and 2006, there has been an increase of .6 cents for the reproduction of the penny. This
increase displays economic problems that may lead to fatal ones. The penny is composed of 2%
copper and 98% zinc. These elements are exponentially in demand causing the price of these materials
to skyrocket. Many Americans think the penny is putting our country in jeopardy with financial losses.
This meaningless coin is losing money for the mint, and should be abolished. The penny costs 1.4
cents to manufacture each time at the mint. This is causing the mint to lose money for the treasury.
Last year, the mint earned $730 million dollars in profit. Many mint officials claim the estimation will

This averages to about 1210 pennies per person in the United States. These numbers are just simply
preposterous. A majority of these Lincolns have probably been trashed, thrown on the ground or
located in unknown areas of homes and apartments. The penny is practically worthless to many people
in our country. In a Gallup Poll of 1,002 adults conducted from June 11 of this year displayed
shocking results. Nearly 75% of those adults would stop and pick a penny that is present on the
ground. About 40% of men and 35% of women would walk passed a penny that is on any type of
surface. This poll also found that 58 percent of Americans stash their pennies in piggy banks, jars and
drawers. Some Americans redeem their cents at banks or coin counting machines, but 2 percent
admitted they toss them into the trash. They consider the penny a nuisance to many fellow Americans.
This sentiment has been growing through recent years. The penny is basically obsolete and should be
removed from American currency. Many penny supporters think there is not an inflation with the
economy. The cent doesn t buy anything in today s market. It is merely a token used to make odd
change during cash purchases. The customer may have to use the, Leave a penny, take a penny bowl

peer support. Students with 504 plans are supported by the school counselors and teachers to ensure
they are receiving accommodations necessary depending on their disability. Students with
Individualized Education Plans (IEP) are supported by the school counselors, teachers, and special

The Life and Legacy of Doroteo Arango Essay
Many people do not know the true story of Francisco Pancho Villa. Pancho Villa was actually born
Doroteo Arango Arambula on June 5, 1878 in San Juan del Rio, Mexico. Doroteo s parents were
uneducated, peasant sharecrop farmers. This fact is important because Doroteo had a high level of
intelligence even though he did not have any formal education. After his father s death, Doroteo took
his father s place as a sharecropper and helped support his mother and four sisters. There are many
versions of how Doroteo became the outlaw bandit Pancho Villa. The most widely accepted story is
that Doroteo shot and or killed Augustin Negrete over the attempted rape of Doroteo s twelve year old

Pancho Villa redistributed the wealth gained from his illegal activities. He often took the money from
the rich and gave it to the poor. These deeds led him to be known as a modern day Mexican Robin

economy in Chihuahua, Mexico and surrounding areas. It is not clear if Pancho Villa purposely killed
the landowners or if they were causalities of war. In any event, Pancho gave land to the widows and

Role Of Expiration Dates Of Yeast Sample Viability
Role of Expiration Dates in Yeast Sample Viability

Biology 2040, 1003
Abstract
Yeasts consume organic compounds (e.g. sugar) to make ATP in a process called fermentation,
creating ethanol and carbon dioxide. Dried yeast samples are in a quiescent state; that is, the yeast are
in a state of arrested cell growth. Given the differing expiration dates of our yeast samples, we
hypothesized that the yeast nearest to their expiration dates would take the longest to produce carbon
dioxide.
We used the gaseous carbon dioxide product of yeast s fermentation reaction to observe the length of
time our yeast samples (with four different expiration dates) took to undergo fermentation, by ... Show

These organic compounds, such as sugars, are used by yeasts as reactants in a process called alcoholic
fermentation. During alcoholic fermentation, yeast produces two ethanol molecules and two carbon
dioxide (C02) molecules from one molecule of glucose; the equation for alcoholic fermentation is:
C6H12O6 → 2 C2H5OH + 2 CO2.
In our experiment, we used the gaseous property of CO2 at STP to measure the activity of alcoholic
fermentation among store bought yeasts with different expiration dates in the presence of sugar. We
hypothesized that the yeast nearer their expiration dates would rise more slowly, or not at all, when
compared to the yeast that were farther from the expiration dates listed on their packages. This
experiment is important, because yeasts are commonly used subjects of many scientific research
studying genes, cell life cycles and responses; and, as such we need to understand how to determine
and assure yeasts viability. (Gancedo, J. M.1998 and Váchová, L. et al., 2012)
Methods
To test our hypothesis that yeast closer to their printed expiration dates were less likely to undergo
alcoholic fermentation than yeast farther from their printed expiration dates, we used store bought
yeast with different expiration dates, meaning that our yeast varied in age. In addition, we tested our
hypothesis using four bags of store bought yeast, each with different expiration dates. To observe
whether each bag underwent fermentation,

High School Athletes Should Be Required
The NCAA states, Nearly eight million students currently participate in high school athletics in the
United States. More than 460,000 compete as NCAA athletes, and just a select few within each sport
move on to compete at the professional or Olympic level ( Estimated Probability ). Everyone agrees
that Americans have to improve academic achievement in schools today; however, it is hard to do so
with a barrage of athletic activities. Students are focusing more on sports then academics, and this
diversion seems to be costly. In order to fix this, high school athletes should be required to maintain a
2.3 grade point average in order to participate in sports because the primary mission of any serious
academic institution must be to develop the young person s intellectual and cognitive skills and help
one get recruited; also, there is a very low chance of athletes continuing their careers at the college or
professional level.
The primary purpose of any academic institution is to develop and prepare a young person for after his
schooling years. In, The Purpose of Schools, Michael Peterson states the two goals of any school: to
teach students who have specific skills to perform jobs, and introduce students to active citizenry
(Peterson). In other words, Peterson argues how a school must prepare one for his or her future instead
of preparing them for a career in sports. John Dewey writes, Education should create an interest in all

Olivier Messiaen (1908 1992) played a significant part in the evolution of twentieth century music,
influencing a number of other composers with his innovative compositional techniques. The Quartet
for the End of Time, is not one of Messiaen s typical works due to the circumstances in which it was
composed (his main outputs were organ, orchestral and choral works), but it marks the start of the
significant use of some of these techniques.

Interpretative challenges presented by theological ideas behind the Quatuor
The Quatuor is based on Revelation 10.1 7, in particular the phrase there shall be no more time. Time
is represented musically in different ways throughout the Quatuor and the addition of this theological
basis to the piece may well have been prompted by the prisoner of war conditions in which he found
himself, in which time might indeed have seemed literally endless, and the Apocalypse close at hand .
It is difficult to know, though, to what extent this theological basis must be considered and portrayed
when performing the Quartet for the End of Time. The words that it is based on appear in the title and
preface, but the challenge to the performer is deciding to what extent the text should be interpreted as
a narrative or programme.
Similar challenges are presented by Romantic music; if a composer does not provide an explicit
programme e.g. Berlioz Symphonie Fantastique it is up to the performer to interpret whether one was
meant and to what extent it should be portrayed in a performance.
The deciding factor in the case of the Quatuor is to consider movements 5 and

How Internet Has Changed Communication And Business Services
Introduction
The rapid growth of Web has completely changed communication and business services in such a way
accuracy, speed, and availability of network delivered content have become completely in danger.
Internet is expanding every moment that creates a significant delay making the delivery of any content
becomes extremely difficult. To deal with this problem, proxy servers, also called Web cache, has
been deployed in the internet by providing shared cache location for multiple clients to treat the need
for swift content transmission. Proxy servers practically minimizes delivery time such as requested
object exists in a close cache where the cached version has not expired.
There are three essential purposes of Web caching. First, the response time for a client request can be
considerably decreased by a Web cache, specifically when the bottleneck bandwidth between the
origin server and the client is much less than the bottleneck bandwidth between the cache and the

Marcus Caesar Dbq
Rome, a vast empire that could not control itself, due to how much it had grown, was in a dire need
for someone to rule it. Three powerful men would rise to the occasion and answer the call. Everybody
thought that the split of power was going to work out, but what they didn t know was it would lead to
a civil war. An unstable Republic and a near civil war brought three men to set aside their differences
and even contempt for one another to join forces and dominate the government of Rome, even
controlling elections, for nearly a decade, (First 1). First we ll look into the men in the trimunative,

Caesar heard the news in Ravenna, and knew that he had to make a choice between prosecution and
rebellion; preferring the dignity of war over the humiliation of a process, Caesar chose to rebel,
quoting his favorite poet Menander, the die is cast. In the night of 10/11 January, the Thirteenth legion
advanced to Rimini, where he could control the passes across the Apennines. In doing so, he crossed
the river Rubico, thereby invading Italy and provoking the Second Civil War. However, it turned out
that the Senate had made a disastrous mistake. It had believed that the issue was between a rebel and
the legitimate rulers, and it had expected that the towns of Italy would send troops in defense of the
authority of the Senate and the Roman People s liberties. But Italy was skeptical about its champions,
and showed little enthusiasm to defend the senatorial constitution, (Gaius

The American Work, The Great Gatsby By F. Scott Fitzgerald
To many of us writing can be a daunting task, and often more complicated than it should be, but, as
stated by famed American author Ernest Hemingway, There is nothing to writing, All you do is sit
down at a typewriter and bleed . The fact of the matter is, eventually blood clots, and scabs form. It s
the same in writing; many authors bleed onto a page and use their metaphorical blood as ink, thus
placing a piece of themselves into their work. But, no matter how great the author, eventually writer
block ensues, casting a writer into a literary funk and halting the flow of thematic ideas; however,
themes such as love and wealth transcend time, culture, and language. So it s not difficult to think that
famed authors, when in a pinch, often recycle broad themes to create a more compelling and relatable
story. In the American work, The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald and its cinematic counterpart,
directed by Baz Lutherman, themes such as wealth, love, isolation, and dissatisfaction are used to
create a novel that still holds parallels to the world of today.
The theme of wealth is prevalent in the works of the The Great Gatsby. The wealthy are portrayed as
educated businessmen who have found a prosperous niche, often illegally. Persons with enough
money are held in higher esteem than their middle class compatriots. In Gatsby s world money buys
social acceptance, and it also grants living in the world without repercussions. In chapter four of The
Great Gatsby, Gatsby, on his

Radiology Application Essay
I am thrilled to be choosing Radiology as the path to becoming the kind of doctor I ve always
envisioned: intelligent, collaborative, and compassionate.
Radiologists serve as cornerstones in the practice of medicine. Time and again, I ve seen diagnosis and
treatment dependent on proper understanding of imaging. As a Physics nerd, I am intrigued by the
cutting edge of technology. My fondest memories of the OR include being swept away by the miracle
of image guided surgery. Our patient had been diagnosed with brain cancer, and the tumor was
scheduled for resection. Rather than make an incision and expose the operative area as I d seen many
times in general surgery, the neurosurgeon was able to utilize an instrument that transmitted its
position and trajectory to a computer and projected this information onto pre operative MRI. In this
way, the surgeon was able to follow in real time the precise location of his surgical instruments for a
minimally invasive tumor resection. This was my first real ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

radiologist introduced me to the principles of splenic injury grading and how to utilize a systematic

my interest in becoming a radiologist. In learning how to translate shadows into pathology, I began to
understand what I previously saw as a mystery in medicine. I am excited to utilize this knowledge and

The Peral by John Steinbeck
If a homeless man were to win a $1,000,000 lottery, how would he handle the circumstance? In The
Pearl, John Steinbeck depicts the story of Kino, a destitute Mexican Indian male who devotes his life
towards his wife and newborn son. He discovers a great pearl that seems to have the potential to
change his life for the better; however, Steinbeck shows how Kino s discovery of a great fortune can
lead to disaster. The pearl installs greed in Kino as he desires to improve his social status, and overall
creates an evil corruption that destroys his family. The pearl has three primary functions. It causes man
to become more impulsively animalistic, shows society s corruption; greediness; and jealousy, and
provides a false hope, an illusion that the pearl is infinitely valued, but in reality has no value at all.
The discovery of the great pearl influences Kino to be more animalistic. ...Kino s fist closed over the
pearl and his emotion broke over him. He put back his head and howled. His eyes rolled up and he
screamed and his body was rigid (Steinbeck 11). Kino s excitement of this discovery leads to his an
impulsive wolf like behavior, howling, which shows the power of the pearl in triggering man s
impulsiveness. The pearl also installs paranoia in Kino, as he fears others stealing his prized
possession. ...a wild fear surged in Kino s breast, and on the fear came rage...he sprang like an angry

Why We Shouldn T Have Pets
Speaking for the Pets
I believe that some people shouldn t have pets. It takes a lot of responsibility to own and care for an
animal. Some pets live their life tied to a chain for life, some with a cage that is never clean, and some
that never get a meal.
This thought all started when my family and I went to Mexico. There were so many starved cats and
dogs on the sides of the roads. I was so sad for me to see the starved dogs foraging for food, and
drinking out of the dirty puddles. This all happened because of the irresponsible owners. These people
are a good example of the kinds a people who shouldn t have pets. If they can t even feed themselves,
how are they supposed to be able to care for an animal. If you want to get a pet make sure

Hand that heals (68). The island, their village, and the dreaded Dr.Moreau that brought them into this

The Film Of A Passage Of India
The biggest obstacle any movie director must face is trying to please a critical audience. It is
especially difficult if the movie they are producing is based on a popular novel, such as E. M. Forster
s, A Passage to India. Each reader has their own perspective of what the characters are supposed to be
like and it is the director s job to try their hardest to please everyone and give an accurate
representation of the text. David Lean did a fantastic job with his casting decisions for his 1984 film
version of A Passage to India. In fact, Lean manages to clarify the novel s intentions. The
characterization in David Lean s film of A Passage to India mirrors the novel s original intentions and
provides even more depth to the characters. At the heart of the novel is Dr. Aziz a kind hearted Indian

Applied Ethics Biomedical Ethics Midterm Assignment
Word Count:
Applied ethics, put simply, is a term used to describe an event, issue, or situation which can be
debated on its morality. Using philosophical ideas, we try to decide the moral choice and if these
situations should be allowed. Of course, being humans and having different upbringings and different
environments, we often don t concur on many issues. One topic that is highly debatable is euthanasia.
What exactly IS euthanasia? According to Merriam Webster1, euthanasia is the act or practice of

There is active, passive, voluntary, and involuntary euthanasia as well as assisted suicide.6 In active
euthanasia, something is done to speed up death in an uncomfortable situation for a person, such as
apply a lethal injection, different from passive euthanasia where nothing is done, such as not
administer treatment because someone is so close to death or pull someone off of life support. The
difference between voluntary and involuntary euthanasia is pretty clear. This just explains if the
suicide was voluntary or not. If a patient seeks euthanasia, it is voluntary, if the person is unconscious
or cannot make their own decisions, and the family decides for the patient, it is involuntary. There is a
difference between euthanasia and assisted suicide, however. Euthanasia would be a doctor
administering the drug that is meant to cause death, and assisted suicide is being provided the means
to end your life (such as lethal injection), and administering it yourself. Where would this practice be
okay? Some people may or may not be

United States Constitution
Novus Ordoro Seclorum is Latin for a new order for the ages. Why did Americans select the
constitutional order they did in 1787 1789, and why did they reject a more democratic and confederal
form not more than a decade old? Having initially hesitated in attending the Convention, once
decided, Washington pushed the delegates to adopt no temporizing expedient but instead to probe the
defects [of the Articles] to the bottom, and provide radical cures, from Matthew Spalding, Ph.D. At the
beginning of the Philadelphia debates in 1787, Edmond Randolph set aside the Articles of

The delegates wisely choose the chance of good. Considered at the Philadelphia Convention was a
Confederate government, the system from Articles of Confederation. One of many problems under a
confederacy is a weak federal government. From Generation Joshua, It must be understood that the
Articles of Confederation were really just an agreement between friends, a gentlemen s agreement...
The Confederation Congress was a shadow, while the true power rested with the individual states.
Instead of the federal government being able to do their job, the states ran the country. The
government was inhibited by its inability to govern. The states were being governed, not the people,
so the government was not doing its job, to govern the people, instead, it was governing the states. .
James Madison says, One characteristic, was that in a federal Government, the power was exercised
not on the people individually; but on the people collectively, on the States. However, the biggest
problem is that it simply did not work. Edmond Randolph, a delegate to the Philadelphia Convention
from Virginia, says I lament the crisis that revising the federal system has brought about, but I believe
that it is necessary to prevent the fulfillment of the prophecies of an imminent American downfall

Child Development Explanations And Understanding
Child development explanations and understanding is a complicated process and it is hard deciding
the right process to use with each child. Many individuals and doctors have their own way of thinking
how the body and mind develops. Their ideas have no right or wrong answers and are mere guesses of
human growth. No one idea can be applied directly to a person, without looking at another idea also.
To prove these explanations of psychology, scientific methods are used. Teachers may use all patterns
of ideas in their lesson planning for children.
Teachers choose what ideas to apply in the classroom by what is best proven, and what is in the best
interest of the child. They must also look at what has been effective in their teaching in the past. If the
idea does not work, then it should be removed from the class, replaced or changed. Each idea has their
strong points as well as their weak ones. To avoid the extreme differences in psychology opinions of
the ideas you must use the common methods offered. It is hard for teachers to apply one idea to
different children, this is due to the fact that none of use grow up the exact same way. For children to
have the chance of becoming who and what they want, we must not put all of them in the same box,
this is to keep choice free in life. To summarize it definitely helps when you understand the great
philosophers and their processes.

What is it? Where is it?
Wetlands are an eco system that is home to both native and foreign species, especially waterbirds and
are wet some of the time. The inter tidal wetlands of Bicentennial Park may be threatened by the
quality of the fresh and salt water that flushes them as a result of the human activities in the catchment

created because of a series of land reclamation over several decades, including extensive mangrove
stands, open water waterbird refuge and an estuarine creek system. The park offers a variety of
pathways and boardwalks for spectacular viewing opportunities, allowing the animals to live
peacefully while the wetland system can be enjoyed and studied. The Waterbird Refuge is rich in bird
life, and provides habitat for large numbers and species of birds, including migratory species protected

Racial Prejudices In Huckleberry Finn
The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, by Mark Twain is often criticized as a racist text; however, it
may have helped to dismantle racial prejudices. The classic satire piece was written in the late 1800s
and follows a young boy named Huckleberry Finn on his journey down the Mississippi river. Huck
soon joins with Jim, a runaway slave, as they both flee from their unfortunate situations. When the
book was published, it was highly controversial, due to the questionable morals of Huck Finn, and the
candid portrayal of slavery. Today, Twain is often denounced for what many see as an overuse of the n

Practices for Improving Queue Length in Retail Stores
With the advent of technology, consumers expect quick service and immediate gratification from
retailers. As they become more empowered and time constraints increase, loyalty to a particular outlet
is incumbent on the speed of service. To meet these consumer needs, hypermarkets use technology for
queue management by monitoring arrivals and forecasting the time consumers will spend in the store,
staffing their billing counters accordingly. At busy times, many transfer staff engaged in other
activities to till points. But such solutions necessitate extra staff. Following are outlined some existing
practices to improve queue time and queue length. Self service checkouts. Expensive self service bar
code reading technology is used in certain stores to allow consumers to self scan bar codes of items to
be bought. Wal Mart Stores Inc. is experimenting with a Scan Go system where shoppers use the Wal

self checkout lane, the iPhone is held up to the self checkout screen that wirelessly receives the
scanned items and prompts payment. To ensure all goods are paid for, several stores place items on
weight sensitive platforms to ascertain payment. Companies like IKEA are, however, eliminating self

  • 2. The Impact Of Social Media On The Workplace Building Relationships This experience is the first time I have been introduced to professional relationships. I took the time to set up a LinkedIn account. It always brings a smile to my face when a subcontractor requests to connect with me. I believe that social media outlets such as LinkedIn give professionals an opportunity to keep up with each other s successes. The lowest level relationship I have built is with the field workers from our concrete subcontractors. I have enjoyed getting to know them and hearing how they got to Texas. One of the workers was born and raised in California. He recently heard about how strong the economy was in Houston, so he packed everything up and moved here. Another worker was born in Mexico and just recently became an American citizen. He is enrolled night classes to strengthen his speaking skills. I have a tremendous amount of respect for the men who work in the field. The highest level relationship I have built is with the chief executive officer of Linbeck. I believe it says a lot about a company when even the highest levels of leadership are able to recognize your face and call you by name. I am proud to be a part of a company who values the idea of being a family. I believe the most important relationship I have established outside of Linbeck is with project managers from the various trades. These men and women have taught me so much about the specifics of their work. Whether I am talking to the specialty or electrical ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Concept Of Self Identity The concept of Self Identity, and the theories that relate to it, are ever present in Mary Shelley s Frankenstein. The concept of Self Identity is a Psychological concept that many famous Psychologists have spent years studying. The main theories of self identity that relate to the story of Frankenstein are those by Sigmund Freud, Carl Jung, and Jean Jacques Rousseau. The ideas of Sigmund Freud s concept of Superego, Id, and Ego are represented by Victor s father, the creation, and Victor with their actions in the novel. Carl Jung s theory of shadow and self is represented by Victor and his creation. The theory of tabula rasa and nature versus nurture are shown by Victor and his relationship with his creation. In Frankenstein, several psychological concepts based on self identity are showcased by Victor and his relationships with other beings. Victor s own creation becomes representative of his Id, through the creatures reliance on instinct and lack of ability to accept his own isolation. Freud describes the Id as the instinctual part of our personality, and this includes sleeping, eating, and procreating. The monster catches up with Victor and has a request for Victor, I am alone, and miserable; man will not associate with me; but one as deformed and horrible as myself would not deny herself to me... This being you must create (Shelley 104). The creature develops an immense loneliness due to his being the only one of his kind, and threatens Victor if he does not ... • 4. Metaphors In Dante s Inferno Dante Alighieri was one of the most inspiring Italian poets in the middle ages. One of his greatest writings is about the afterlife, from the depths of Hell in his own made Inferno, into the mountains of Purgatory and in the ever lasting spirits of Heaven called the Paradiso. But my main focus on this essay is what in Dante s life inspired him to write like he did, particularly his Inferno. Florence at this time being a loathed, despised, derogated community with corruption and discard, Dante Alighieri lived most of his days working on his writings that will last hundreds of years. Church versus independence of the city states gave Dante the motivation to get involved of becoming a member of political governing body. In this time Florence has split into two parties, Guelphs who support the pope and Ghibellines that support the Roman Emperor with the need of more freedom. Dante was part of the White Guelphs and fought in war of his cause but with seeing life and death in the horrific battle of war, this may have lead to vision of his own Hell. Dante was exiled from the city by Black Guelphs or else he would be burned to the stake in result of his family having to split apart leaving behind his wife Gemma Donati and his four children. Dante spent 20 years drifting from city to city thinking about his long lost love Beatrice who was once a childhood sweetheart and also his writings that would be for nothing without his mentor Brunetto Latino. Foreign Policy Towards Belarus To: Secretary of State John Kerry From: Rob Foglia, country desk officer of Belarus Re: Recommended U.S. foreign policy towards Belarus Date: October 12, 2014 Oppression in Belarus Breaking Free from Russia Belarus has the veil of a political stranglehold cast over it by the looming and neighboring Russia. Freedoms are non existent, a tyrant maintains control over the country, and democracy is nowhere in sight. I have a few recommendations on how U.S. foreign policy towards Belarus can help fix many of these issues, and help direct the country towards Democracy. In 1994, The Republic of Belarus elected Alexander Lukashenko as the President of Belarus. He was officially reelected in 2001, 2006 and 2010. However, the United States (as well as other western Nations) does not recognize the results of the 2010 elections under which the Central Election Commission of Belarus declared Lukashenko president. This is because Western countries decried the election as a farce and an egregious affront to democracy and human rights. Many of Lukashenko s opposition leaders had mysterious disappearances. The United States and the European Union called for the release of all imprisoned former candidates, but took no further action except a travel ban on Lukashenko. By contrast, countries such as Syria, Russia, and China congratulated the re elected incumbent. This is just a sample of the Dictatorship that is veiled as a Republic in Belarus. This imbalance in Paul`s life causes him to be an Other because he has changed his entire life to simply swindle wealthy whites. In Devil in a Blue Dress, director Carl Franklin incorporates references to Delilah from The Imitation of Life (1934), the Black Dahlia, and Oscar Micheaux`s The Betrayal (1948) to suggest that Daphne Monet will always be marked with blackness, despite passing for a white. After getting his assignment to find Todd Carter`s missing fiancé, Ezekiel Rawlins begins his search at a black juke joint where the Daphne is known to frequent. At the club, the notion of recognition and misrecognition is employed as Ezekiel asks around for a white girl. Additionally, he begins to misname Daphne by referring to her as Delilah and Dahlia. The reference is an allusion to the 1934 film Imitation of Life. In the film, Delilah is a black homemaker living in a subordinate role to her white friend Beatrice. Despite this subjugation, Delilah is proud of her race. The comparison between Delilah and Daphne not only foreshadows Daphne`s unsuccessful passing but also her inability to belong in a white relationship. Role Of Expiration Dates Of Yeast Sample Viability Role of Expiration Dates in Yeast Sample Viability Nasser Almoteb Kathryn Knackstedt 12/9/2015 Biology 2040, 1003 Abstract Yeasts consume organic compounds (e.g. sugar) to make ATP in a process called fermentation, creating ethanol and carbon dioxide. Dried yeast samples are in a quiescent state; that is, the yeast are in a state of arrested cell growth. Given the differing expiration dates of our yeast samples, we hypothesized that the yeast nearest to their expiration dates would take the longest to produce carbon dioxide. We used the gaseous carbon dioxide product of yeast s fermentation reaction to observe the length of time our yeast samples (with four different expiration dates) took to undergo fermentation, by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These organic compounds, such as sugars, are used by yeasts as reactants in a process called alcoholic fermentation. During alcoholic fermentation, yeast produces two ethanol molecules and two carbon dioxide (C02) molecules from one molecule of glucose; the equation for alcoholic fermentation is: C6H12O6 → 2 C2H5OH + 2 CO2. In our experiment, we used the gaseous property of CO2 at STP to measure the activity of alcoholic fermentation among store bought yeasts with different expiration dates in the presence of sugar. We hypothesized that the yeast nearer their expiration dates would rise more slowly, or not at all, when compared to the yeast that were farther from the expiration dates listed on their packages. This experiment is important, because yeasts are commonly used subjects of many scientific research studying genes, cell life cycles and responses; and, as such we need to understand how to determine and assure yeasts viability. (Gancedo, J. M.1998 and Váchová, L. et al., 2012) Methods To test our hypothesis that yeast closer to their printed expiration dates were less likely to undergo alcoholic fermentation than yeast farther from their printed expiration dates, we used store bought yeast with different expiration dates, meaning that our yeast varied in age. More than 460,000 compete as NCAA athletes, and just a select few within each sport move on to compete at the professional or Olympic level ( Estimated Probability ). Everyone agrees that Americans have to improve academic achievement in schools today; however, it is hard to do so with a barrage of athletic activities. Students are focusing more on sports then academics, and this diversion seems to be costly. In order to fix this, high school athletes should be required to maintain a 2.3 grade point average in order to participate in sports because the primary mission of any serious academic institution must be to develop the young person s intellectual and cognitive skills and help one get recruited; also, there is a very low chance of athletes continuing their careers at the college or professional level. The primary purpose of any academic institution is to develop and prepare a young person for after his schooling years. In, The Purpose of Schools, Michael Peterson states the two goals of any school: to teach students who have specific skills to perform jobs, and introduce students to active citizenry (Peterson). • 19. How Internet Has Changed Communication And Business Services Introduction The rapid growth of Web has completely changed communication and business services in such a way accuracy, speed, and availability of network delivered content have become completely in danger. Internet is expanding every moment that creates a significant delay making the delivery of any content becomes extremely difficult. To deal with this problem, proxy servers, also called Web cache, has been deployed in the internet by providing shared cache location for multiple clients to treat the need for swift content transmission. Proxy servers practically minimizes delivery time such as requested object exists in a close cache where the cached version has not expired. There are three essential purposes of Web caching. First, the response time for a client request can be considerably decreased by a Web cache, specifically when the bottleneck bandwidth between the origin server and the client is much less than the bottleneck bandwidth between the cache and the client. For instance, if the requested object is available in the cache, and we have a high speed connection between the client and the cache, then the object will be delivered immediately to the client. Second, traffic on an institution s access link to the Internet can be considerably reduced by Web caches. This is significantly important because it will minimize the chance of upgrading bandwidth and reducing costs. Scott Fitzgerald To many of us writing can be a daunting task, and often more complicated than it should be, but, as stated by famed American author Ernest Hemingway, There is nothing to writing, All you do is sit down at a typewriter and bleed . The fact of the matter is, eventually blood clots, and scabs form. It s the same in writing; many authors bleed onto a page and use their metaphorical blood as ink, thus placing a piece of themselves into their work. But, no matter how great the author, eventually writer block ensues, casting a writer into a literary funk and halting the flow of thematic ideas; however, themes such as love and wealth transcend time, culture, and language. So it s not difficult to think that famed authors, when in a pinch, often recycle broad themes to create a more compelling and relatable story. In the American work, The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald and its cinematic counterpart, directed by Baz Lutherman, themes such as wealth, love, isolation, and dissatisfaction are used to create a novel that still holds parallels to the world of today. The theme of wealth is prevalent in the works of the The Great Gatsby. The wealthy are portrayed as educated businessmen who have found a prosperous niche, often illegally. • 24. The Peral by John Steinbeck If a homeless man were to win a $1,000,000 lottery, how would he handle the circumstance? In The Pearl, John Steinbeck depicts the story of Kino, a destitute Mexican Indian male who devotes his life towards his wife and newborn son. He discovers a great pearl that seems to have the potential to change his life for the better; however, Steinbeck shows how Kino s discovery of a great fortune can lead to disaster. The pearl installs greed in Kino as he desires to improve his social status, and overall creates an evil corruption that destroys his family. The pearl has three primary functions. It causes man to become more impulsively animalistic, shows society s corruption; greediness; and jealousy, and provides a false hope, an illusion that the pearl is infinitely valued, but in reality has no value at all. The discovery of the great pearl influences Kino to be more animalistic. ...Kino s fist closed over the pearl and his emotion broke over him. He put back his head and howled. His eyes rolled up and he screamed and his body was rigid (Steinbeck 11). Some pets live their life tied to a chain for life, some with a cage that is never clean, and some that never get a meal. This thought all started when my family and I went to Mexico. The difference between voluntary and involuntary euthanasia is pretty clear. This just explains if the suicide was voluntary or not. Many individuals and doctors have their own way of thinking how the body and mind develops. Their ideas have no right or wrong answers and are mere guesses of human growth. No one idea can be applied directly to a person, without looking at another idea also. To prove these explanations of psychology, scientific methods are used. Teachers may use all patterns of ideas in their lesson planning for children. Teachers choose what ideas to apply in the classroom by what is best proven, and what is in the best interest of the child. They must also look at what has been effective in their teaching in the past. If the idea does not work, then it should be removed from the class, replaced or changed. Each idea has their strong points as well as their weak ones. To avoid the extreme differences in psychology opinions of the ideas you must use the common methods offered. It is hard for teachers to apply one idea to different children, this is due to the fact that none of use grow up the exact same way. For children to have the chance of becoming who and what they want, we must not put all of them in the same box, this is to keep choice free in life.
