Goals and Strategies of the Civil Rights Movement Essay
African American Civil Rights Movement Throughout the 1960 s, the widespread movement for
African American civil rights had transformed in terms of its goals and strategies. The campaign
had intensified in this decade, characterized by greater demands and more aggressive efforts.
Although the support of the Civil Rights movement was relatively constant, the goals of the
movement became more high reaching and specific, and its strategies became less compromising.
African Americans struggle for equality during the 1960 s was a relentless movement that used
change for progress. In essence, the transformation of the Civil Rights Movement throughout the
1960 s forwarded the evolution of America into a nation of civil equality and freedom.... Show more

We want to see the cooperative concept applied in business and banking. We want... The excerpt
reads further as a long dissertation of specific goals of the organization, which include black
participation in government and economy, defiance against profiteers of slums, and the overall
shift to a socialist America. In the socialist train of thought, society is invested in the integrity and
economic participation of its people, and, therefore, blacks become almost invaluable to America.
Here, each individual is seen as vital to the nation, because, if not, then the whole foundation of the
socialist philosophy collapses. And so, it is implied in this document that a change for a new
system of government in a new America is needed, which greatly contrasts from simply making
people aware of a perfect world with guaranteed civil rights. Another significant transformation took
place in the Civil Rights Movement in terms of its strategies. In analyzing this facet of the
movement, we notice a great shift from nonviolent demonstration to forward, forceful action.
Specifically, at the start of the Civil Rights Movement, lunch counter sit ins were evident
throughout the nation, as were Freedom Riders. Starting in Greensboro, North Carolina at a
luncheonette called Woolworths, young black citizens would seat

According to my point of view I think there are main three issues that was result in getting a very
few requests for the company. According to the given data I think the 1st reason is that not having

who was newly recruited from the company. He hasn t enough communication with the people in
the company. Some of the managers he didn t even see as well as he didn t even talk. So there is a
poor communication between Chan Kee Tong the other managers.
So due to that the managers wouldn t trust or know much about the plans of Chan Kee Tong it
would be a main reason for not getting a good answers from the managers.
The second reasons than that they didn t get many replies because Chan Kee Tong is a newly
hired recruiter he doesn t have any connection with the managers of the other countries. He even
didn t talk with them. Though the assistant of the Chan Kee Tong is uneducated, he is having a
greater knowledge about the company as well as the people in there. He knows the way that the

Journey of Self-Discovery in Thomas Pynchons The Crying...
Journey of Self Discovery in Thomas Pynchons The Crying of Lot 49
Thomas Pynchons The Crying of Lot 49 challenges the readers perception of the world by
enfolding his readers, through a variety of means, within the intricate workings of his narrative. It
centers around would be heroine Oedipa Maas whose life is turned upside down when she
discovers that she has been made executor of the estate of old flame and entrepreneur Pierce
Inverarity. When she is imposed upon to travel to the fictional city of San Narcisco, where
Inverarity is said to have numerous real estate holdings, in order to carry out her task, Oedipa
stumbles upon a muted post horn; the first of many clues leading her deep into the impenetrable
conspiracy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Like Pynchons reader s, Oedipa is forced to either work toward interpreting the trail of
seemingly indecipherable clues being tossed in her wake or forgo it all and walk away in
bewilderment. Like the reader by deciding to go on, however aimlessly, she is forcibly drawn
out of the complacency of her own existence; into a chaotic system of intrigue that reaches far
beyond her normal scope of understanding. In the same turn, like Oedipa the reader s role is also
based on interpreting numerous symbols and metaphorical clues as a means of stumbling upon a
legible conclusion that will stop the madness. Each of them arriving at a different conclusion or
none at all solely depended upon how far the use of our perceptions will allow us to go.
Unfortunately both Oedipa and the reader (myself included) are overwhelmed by the myriad of
inconsistencies and masked innuendo saturating this book from cover to cover. Unable to
sufficiently distinguish between what is real and relevant and what is unreal and irrelevant, both
are left feeling disconcerted and paranoid; fearful that nothing they ve ever perceived to be true, is...
Paranoia is the common bond that now unites Oedipa and the reader; but it isn t paranoia as
described in the Webster s dictionary, instead it is an aberration of their individual views which
have been shifted and enhanced forcing them to see the world beyond that of their front porch;

Essay on Queen Elizabeth
The last queen of the Tudor dynasty, Queen Elizabeth I proved to be on of the most celebrated,
and controversial leaders in English history. Raised in a neglectful home, and shadowed by her
mother s reputation, Elizabeth did not have the royal treatment that her siblings received. From her
birth, she was a disappointment, as a child she was intelligent, yet unnoticed, and the road to her
1558 1603 reign was troubled. Elizabeth was born on September 7, 1533. To the disappointment of
King Henry VII, her father, she was a presumptive heir to the throne. Elizabeth s older sister, Mary,
would have been heir to the throne, but that was stripped from her when Henry VII divorced her
mother, Catherine of Aragon. Anne Boleyn, Elizabeth s mother,... Show more content on

Mary?s determination was to destroy the Protestant faith in England. One of her acts as queen was
confining Elizabeth to the Tower of London for two months on suspicion of collaborating against
her plans. Mary suspected that she was pregnant, and Elizabeth?s probability at descending the
throne was diminishing rapidly, although Mary recognized Elizabeth as heir to the throne. It
turned out Mary was not pregnant, and she became very ill. On November 17, 1558 she died. On
January 15, 1559 Elizabeth became queen at the age of twenty five. A light snow fell on the packed
London streets as the new queen was celebrated. The queen repeatedly told her people ?I thank you
with all my heart.? After the coronation ceremony, Elizabeth sat down to a lavish ten hour banquet.
Many challenged the queen?s right to absolute power. John Knox stated ?Women are unsuited to
rule.? Elizabeth made it abundantly clear she would not stand for disobedience. During her reign,
Elizabeth enjoyed charming men into agreeing with her views. To insure that her statesmen and
courtiers did not take their positions for granted, she alternated between outburst of royal
displeasure and displays of humor and warmth. Elizabeth was considered by most to be a gorgeous
queen, and her beauty was unmatched. During her childhood, while living with Catherine Parr,
Elizabeth experienced emotional distress which many believe affected her love

An Occurrence At Owl Creek Bridge Analysis
I m really enjoying our assigned readings so far in class. My favorite so far has been An
Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge by Bierce. I was not expecting the ending to this short story at
all, it caught me off guard. I honestly did believe that Peyton Farquhar, the main character of the
story, managed to escaped his hanging by swimming away from the scene. What I did find sort
of hard to believe was how much Peyton was able to imagine right before his death. What I mean
by this is how he was able to imagine a whole escape plan that led him running all the way home
to his wife, all while he was in the process of getting hanged. The whole story was about five
pages long but it had a great amount of detail describing the events. I especially enjoyed this
particular reading because I was able to picture every single moment as I kept reading along. I like
stories where I know exactly what is going on and I m able to picture everything in my head and
just flow like a movie would. This was one of those stories, especially after watching a Twilight
Zone episode last class about this... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Again, I wasn t expecting that ending at all. I really sympathize with Mathilde and her husband
because they really didn t deserve to work that hard for just a necklace. Especially the husband,
all he really wanted to do was buy a gun so that he can go hunting in the summer. I wouldn t
necessarily say that Mathilde deserves those hard working 10 years she lost to repay the lost
necklace mainly because it has always been in Mathilde s nature to want the best and dreams of
other luxuries. I do, however, blame her for the misfortune she brought upon her and her husband
when she lost the fake necklace. If she wasn t so demanding of things and would have settled with
simply the dress her husband bought for her in exchange of his gun dream, then for sure their lives
would probably have been a whole lot

The Process Of Alternative Dispute Resolution
The process of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) is a relatively new phenomena which has
infiltrated contemporary next generation human resource management. As the use of ADR methods
grew, proponents viewed them as promising mechanism s for an abundance of scenarios. Conflict
has and always will be an inherent part of the workplace (Colvin 2003). It is for this reason
alternative conflict resolution has amassed development, especially considering the cost of rigid
normative procedures, with Gibbons (2007, p 7) estimating that employment conflict in the UK
costing an estimated ВЈ410 million annually. Conflict is generated when one party perceives that
another party has negatively influenced something the first party cares about (Huczynski and
Buchanan 2007, p764). It is in this context that conflict resolution processes ought to address
both the actions and perceptions of both parties in the dispute in order to garner more successful
results (Willmott 1993). Therefore, in order to achieve this practically a significant shift was
required from regular grievance strategies toward a more flexible and pragmatic system which
promotes a positive outcome for both parties (Gibbons 2007, p 7). All forms of ADR will involve
a third party with the role of the third party contingent on the type of ADR applied .The type of
ADR used shall be dictated by the type of dispute, what stage it is at and ultimately the type of
resolution being sought. It is against this backdrop that this

Reactor Process Parameter Monitoring Using Plc And Hmi
Reactor process parameter monitor using PLC and HMI Abstract our paper outlines the basic stage
of operation required to automate the reactor. Over the years demand for high quality, better
efficiency and automated machines has increased in this globalized world. It briefly explains the
process followed by the industry to automate an entire plant. This project basically focuses on the
primary part of monitoring the parameters namely the temperature and the pressure. As the reaction
proceeds in the reactor the temperature and pressure of the same varies. The temperature and
pressure are measured using various temperature sensors like RTD and pressure sensors like pt100
respectively. Our aim is therefore to monitor them on HMI which is connected to PLC via a
communication cable. (Keywords PLC Programmable logic controllers, HMI Human machine

The Specialization Of A Business Model Essay
The Specialization Business
Like the other models the specialization business model can be conflated with freelancers, solution
based businesses, and also first to market models. Like the solution based model, the specialization
model can be scaled up or built with the purpose of being sold. This kind of business model is a
step beyond the solution idea and combines the freelancer and the solution provider. One could
even argue that this is a matured version of the solution business. Whether the specialization
business focuses on a good or a service, the specialization model typically has extremely
proprietary knowledge and techniques which cannot be easily replicated by competing firms.
Often, patents and complex legal barriers to entry are established to protect the specialist s
natural advantages. Elements of the freelance, solution, debt, and first to market business models
are present in specialization models, but I classify this as a unique model of its own because the
owners must protect their secrets yet clone themselves to scale up. There are countless legacy
businesses built on industry secrets, and proprietary knowledge. McDonalds, Chick Fil A, and
Kentucky Fried Chicken were all founded on very specialized formulas and techniques that even to
this day are exceptionally protected. Completely opposite firms like DutchBoy paint, and computer
platform firms like Oracle can also be considered specialization businesses and also have their own
secrets to

catalyst for development of safer practices.
U.S. regulatory, manufacturing and airline officials have been working more closely with their
counterparts in Europe and other regions of the world since the 1992 LaGuardia crash. That
accident followed crashes of a Canadian operated Fokker 28 at Dryden, Ontario, in 1989 and a

Several international meetings over the last year have addressed, among other things, disparities in
the regulatory and operational treatment of ground icing threats. International organizations are
taking steps to correct them.
European aviation officials are maintaining their long standing lead in efforts to make operations in
ground icing conditions safer. Minimum ground icing safety practices vary widely from country to
country and even from airline to airline throughout the world. Europe s Joint Airworthiness
Authorities are conducting a broad, coordinated review of technical and flight operations in winter
conditions. And members of the Assn. of European Airlines are pressing to distill the lessons
learned by carriers experienced with ground icing conditions, such as those in northern Europe,
Scandinavia and Russia, into guidelines that can be used by airlines worldwide.

and extracting relevant information. Synthesis takes into account organizing from multiple sources
and presenting the information. Finally, Evaluation entails judging the product for effectiveness
and judging the process for efficiency. (Wurster, 2011)
Librarians, teachers, and students can all benefit from the Big6в„ў process as it helps to identify
goals, hunt for, use and collect information and then reflect on that information with the
presentation of the information. Teachers and librarians benefit because they can use it at any
grade level, with any subject, with any state or national standards, and it complements any
curriculum. Students benefit because the Big6в„ў assures they understand the assignment,
complete the project, assignment, or activity, and discuss the process. In addition, students can
know if they missed a step of the process, self asses their work, recognize reliable information, cite
sources, divide an assignment into easily managed parts, and feel confident in their work. (Wurster,
2011)

Why The Legislative Branch Is The Strongest
Collins 1 Ciara Collins PS 122: American Politics: Issues and Institutions Essay Two 11/5/2014
Which of the three branches of the federal government (Congress, the Presidency, and the

the three branches of the government. All the branches of the federal government play a super
important part in Government. However, the Legislative Branch is the strongest branch. All of the
Legislative Branches privileges and powers are well defined in the U.S Constitution. All of the

Of course there is a balance of powers between the branches and all three branches are fairly
equal as some Americans like to say but Congress has one advantage in particular, power of the
purse. Congress approves budgets. If they don t want to fund a project or law, they don t have
to, and it s dead in the water, that is why I would have to say that Congress has the most active
power. They are the only branch that can make laws after all, amend the Constitution and
ultimately has approval over all decisions affecting the nation as a whole. This seems like a clear
reason on why the Legislative is so strong, it is the fact that they have so much power. Congress
is the only one out of all three branches that is elected by popular vote, which can say a lot for the
people. It is supposed to represent the will of the people. The Executive branch is ultimately
responsible to Congress and remember that Congress can impeach a President, but a President does
not have the power to remove a member of Congress and thus, to the

Essay about The Perception of Listening
Listen up! Are you really listening? What is listening and why is it important? This paper will
address the viewpoint of listening skills and its outcome. Listening is an essential tool, which is
one of the constructive aspects in the communication process, for communicating with other
people. To listen well is a talent that is learned. However, for people to listen effectively, they
would need to practice to obtain the skill. As with any new skill, learning to listen takes effort,
attention, and practice (Stewart, 2006, p. 202). Listening skills allow people to make sense of and
understand what another person is saying. In other words, listening skills allow you to identify with
the meaning of what people are talking about. Listening... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Since listening plays an essential role in the communication process, developing listening skills are
important because they will help interpret what the speaker is saying during feedback. In other
words, the listener should be able to respond to what the speaker talked about for clarification
purposes. Accordingly, becoming a better listener, and depending on the situation, there are three
types of listening strategies that would be beneficial to ensure effective communication with other
people. Hybels and Weaver (2007) states that active listening, critical listening, and empathic
listening are three different tactics that can be useful in diverse situations (p. 92).For instance,
critical listeners focal point is to listen with determination and an open mind. They need to
recognize and expect to learn something new from the speaker and ask questions about their
viewpoints. Defining Listening Barriers The second aspect of listening is to avoid the barriers to
efficient listening. Since words can be influential, there are some issues that may get in the way of
listening effectively, such as bias, accents, and noise. These specific matters will result in poor
listening communication because there are some people who are collective listeners because of
their favoritism toward specific speakers; the language is not clear due to diverse accents, and
depending on the surroundings, the

Hero A person noted for feats of courage or nobility of purpose, especially
One who has risked or sacrificed his or her life:

Napoleon Bonaparte was a patriotic and passionate man. He was a military genius who indelibly
stamped his personality on an era. His theories about waging war, his conduct of campaigns, and
battlefield tactics all became benchmarks for military commanders throughout the 19th century
and today. If I shall be defeated here this day it would be by the greatest general in the modern

Bonaparte was unquestionably a born leader. Often in the harshest conditions he took this role to
protect his fellow comrades. As a leader, the future emperor of France never took full credit for
his successes and never took full blame for his discredits and defeats. Soldiers usually win the
battles and generals get the credit for them (Napoleon Bonaparte cited in Barnes: back cover) He
was loved by his men through victory and defeat. Even after his initial defeat and banishment by
Wellington, he escaped with the help of loyal supporters, and his defeated army, disillusioned once
more with the hereditary rulers of France, flocked to follow him to Waterloo, where he came very
close to defeating the combined armies of his enemies, despite the demoralisation of the French
army by repeated English victories. Only a hero of Napoleons calibre could achieve this turnaround.

Napoleon was an outright Autocratic leader, he concentrated all authority on his own person. He

Oceanic Victor claim that the tuna cage will not attract any more sharksthan usual, which is odd to
say as in other circumstances in tuna pens shark wranglers have been hired to cut free sharks that
have been stuck in the nets.[4] Tuna cages attract sharks, which are drawn to fish which sometimes
die in the pens and settle in the bottoms of the floating nets. Inquisitive sharks may bite holes in
nets and enter the cages or become entangled in the nets and subsequently become distressed or
drown. In response, employees of tuna ranching operations will either enter the water and attempt
to wrestle the sharks out of the pens, or kill the shark. Species known to interact with southern
bluefin tuna operations include hammerhead sharks, bronze whalers and great white sharks. The
latter species is protected under federal Australian legislation while the former two are not. Some of
these interactions are shown in the documentary film, Tuna Wranglers (2007). [3]

In A Thief of Time, Tony Hillerman s characters display perspectives of diverse cultural
backgrounds. In Jim Chee and Joe Leaphorn we see a shared heritage, as well as their contrasting
points of view which stem from choosing different values to live by. Quite a few characters in
Hillerman s book, who are not of Navajo blood, connect themselves with Navajo culture through
digs, collection, and personal gain. This essay will briefly touch on the view points of three

In refuting the practicality of Navajo traditions it is easier for him to ignore them. In Jim Chee,

Leaphorn s character we are able to see the turmoil that arises when one doesn t have defined

and religious connections would normally reside. After a year of dealing with his wife s death,
Leaphorn assesses the option of using the practices of his Navajo predecessors. And Emma s

side with the Christian religion and declines the use of Navajo traditions, he lacks the external
support required to find closure with death. .In Richard DuMont s character we see a collectors
perspective on death warped by the hunt for personal gain. His need for an impressive tale

The American Dream in Hester Street and Eat a Bowel of...
Many years ago, people have immigrated to a new world where they can hope for a more beautiful
existence, for the wealth, for the freedoms, for the better opportunities and most importantly, for the
American Dreams.
As each new era of foreigners migrate to America, they face the obstacle of conforming to
mainstream America. As Hester Street and Eat a Bowl of Tea portrayed, immigrants come to this
land of opportunities with the hopes and dreams of a better life for themselves or their families. In
Hester Street , Jake, a Russian Jewish immigrant who lived in New York s Lower East Side for five
years, leaving his wife behind, and taking up with a new woman and earning enough money to

He sends him back home to marry a friend s daughter, bring her back, take a good job and start a
family. Ben Loy is one of the first Chinese men in New York to marry and bring his bride back to
America. The old men, most of whom have their wives in China are thrilled. They see Ben s
marriage as a new beginning for their aging hamlet. All these pressures, unfortunately, make the
young man impotent. It is interesting that the movie is full of images and situations in which
Chinese and American cultures confront one another. For instance, during the arranged courtship in
China, the couple s first moment alone on screen is against the backdrop of an open air projection
of an American film. When the couple is on vacation in Washington to try and escape the pressures
of community and finally make love, the familiar American landmarks are overlaid with Chinese
music. The very real human problems family, marriage, impotence, work are shown to be
indistinguishable from crises over identity; Ben Loy s impotence, his failure to continue the line is
a sign of his inability to unite Chinese and American, public expectation and private desires.
I also find it fascinating how differently Gitl and Ben s wife Mei Oi react to the New World. They
are both inexperienced new immigrants, but Gitl reveals a quiet strength and determination that
Mei Oi lacks. Mei is more of a weak

Impact Of Media On My Life
How much impact does media have on my life? What is the last thing that you touch before you
go to sleep and after you wake up? I ask people around me, including my coworkers, my friends,
my family members, and the majority of their answers is their phone/their electronic devices. With
the dominance of technologies in today s society, we got caught up with all the different media
platforms, which sometimes we did not even realize how important they are in our daily life.
The media has gone such a long way throughout history as it now has become the core of society.
From the printing press to the age of the Internet, these types of media enhance our life
dramatically as we are depending on them more and more. While media like radio and print
were able to adapt to the change in the society, other media was not able to keep up and start to
lose their place in our daily life. With these pieces of information in mind, the purpose of this
paper is for me to really think about how often I am in contact with media, in what way do I use
media in my everyday activities, and how significant the media is, not only to me but for
everyone on this planet. After looking closely at my daily media use and going through a day
without media, I was able to learn a lot about myself, as well as the impact of media on my life. In
order to understand how and why people use media, you need to understand the uses and
gratifications theory. Introduced and developed by Jay Blumler and Elihu Katz,

Summary Of The Framing Of Immigration
Deconstructing Immigration: Analyzing the Organization and Language of The Framing of
Immigration In The Framing of Immigration, George Lakoff and Sam Ferguson believe that issue
defining framing is narrowing, particularly in the case of immigration reform. Immigration reform,
they claim, is a complex issue whose simple frame incorporates and ignores different security,
economic, and social concerns. The paper relies on the warrant that undocumented immigrants
deserve equal rights, which can be seen sdkjs. The authors insures that their claim is easily

The authors have six headings in bold Surface Framing, Frames Not Taken, Why It s Not a
Single Issue, Conservatives, Progressives, and Summing Up which allow for the audience to get
key ideas from the text. First, because these headings are in bold, readers know that the ideas are
important and central. This is because bold letters mean that something is important and needs to
be focused on. In fact, many people exclusively read headings before diving into a paper further.
That why if people are only glancing or skimming Lakoff and Ferguson s book, the readers can
obtain many of the authors points. From these headings the audience can infer that the current
surface frames are inadequate because the first heading is surface frames followed by frames not
taken which implies that the surface frames earlier discussed are not sufficient. This allows support

How Milling Is A Vital Process For Minimizing The Machined...
Milling is a vital process used in the industry to make and assembling the components. The
extensive and expensive experimental work is necessary to determine the optimal of machining
process parameters for obtaining the desired machined quality. In this regard, the present work is
focused on the relationship between the input process parameters and machined surface integrity
for minimizing the machined damage. Moreover, the paper presents the comparative analysis and
performance of two different mill tools such as a specially designed carbide tipped tool and a solid
carbide tool. Subsequently, comparing the evaluation of two tools was illustrated by plotting origin
graphs. Finally, experimental results were thoroughly analyzed by Scanning electron microscope
(SEM) to investigate the cutting characteristics of machined laminates.

Environmental Challenges Of The American Automobile Industry
Environmental Challenges in the American Automobile Industry The American Auto Industry has
grown ever since it s upgraded in the early 1900s. Although the design for the modern car was
produced in Germany and France in the late 1800s, Americans controlled the industry in the first
half of the twentieth century. Henry Ford innovated mass production systems that enhanced model,
with Ford, General Motors and Chrysler beginning as the Big Three auto firms by the 1920s ,(Foner

environmental concerns and risks around the world, particularly in the United States. Many of the
concerns in this industry include; global race, modern technology for controlling the product, the
impacts of emission on the environment and the government s answer, as well as customer
sentiments about the outcome. Much like any manufacturing, the American auto industry is
directed to global competition. As declared beginning, the car was first developed in Germany
and France. In 1995, the United States and Japan made a business contract that supplied more
seller outlets and provided natural replacement part is selling in each other s countries, (Nauss

Although Pepsi s dividend payout ratio is slightly lower than Coca Cola s, the difference is
marginal. (Finance)
The Dividend Payout Ratio means the percentage of earnings paid to shareholders in dividends.
The payout ratio provides an idea of how well earnings support the dividend payments. More
mature companies tend to have a higher payout ratio. This ratio is calculated as Dividends per
share / Earnings per share. The Dividend payout ratio for Coca Cola is 48.2% while PepsiCo is
34.8%
The price/earnings ratio (P/E) is the best known of the investment valuation indicators. It is the
measure of the share price relative to the annual net income earned by the firm per share. The P/E
ratio has its imperfections, but it is nevertheless the most widely reported and used valuation by
investment professionals and the investing public. The financial reporting of both companies and
investment research services use a basic earnings per share (EPS) figure divided into the current
stock price to calculate the P/E multiple (i.e. how many times a stock is trading (its price) per
each dollar of EPS). A high PE ratio generally indicates increased demand because investors
anticipate earnings growth in the future. The PE ratio has units of years, which can be interpreted
as the number of years of earnings to pay back purchase price. The price/earnings ratio for Coca
Cola is 12.97 while PepsiCo is 16.24. (YCharts,

Understanding marketing system
The world is rapidly developing in most aspects of human life. In the aspect of economy,
companies or firms nowadays pursue global plans so as to introduce and develop their products as
well as their services in other countries, instead of only focusing on business in their nation.
However, the companies success depends not only on their own activities but also other factors
from outside. Therefore, people have widely adopted marketing systems as a tool to obtain their
goals. Some interesting articles and books address this issue. Layton, a professor of marketing at
the University of New South Wale in Australia, in his articles Marketing Systems: A Core
Macromarketing Concept in 2007, examines the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore, marketing system is a network of customers and organization that produce product in
the way of economic exchange. For instance, Wilkie and Moore (1999), in panel A: Tiffany
breakfast items have complex network from the start to coffee, and breakfast pastry. In this panel
shows the complication of coffee produce which start from farmer grow coffee leave, transport to
the manufacturing to produce coffee and then enter to the market and become Tiffany coffee. In
this example, economic exchange was happen in each stage of activities such as growing coffee
bean, transport; enter market and taxes GST, seller and buyers.
In the article in 2009, Layton (2009) focuses more on the interaction between the marketing systems
with the economic growth and quality of life. The writer argues that the changes of marketing
systems can effectively or ineffectively affect the development of economy or the well being of
society. In addition, the author maintains that the marketing systems founds in multilayered,
multiagent and developed economies. Moreover, the division of labor and specialization,
institutions and social matrix are factors which strongly impact economic outcomes. In the paper of
Dixon and Wilkinson (1982), the authors argue that marketing is a kind of exchange mechanism
that results from buyers and sellers actions to satisfy their requirements. Furthermore, each person
plays one or more specific roles of different social systems in which

Analysis Of Michael Moore s Sicko
Michael Moore has been known to create films in which in my opinion has shown how liberal
minded and bias he can really be, a truly unsatisfying quality, when you think of the issues that are
covered in his films and the power he has to carry out real change. However, in this film Sicko he
has really grown from the Michael Moorewe all have grown to dislike, the film is very insightful,
generating quality thoughts and questioning, why do we not fight more to advocate for a better
health care system? Mr. Moore gave some exceptional facts with exception towards the end of the
film, when he uses sarcasm and clearly political propaganda to show war enemies receiving the
best of care, while hard working Americans receive subpart care. I guess the old saying rings true
that you can t teach an old dog new tricks.
This film focuses on one of our nation s biggest issue, The Health Care System. At every
presidential election debate, the topic is brought up to gage on how each candidate will, during
their presidency, rectify or even improve the current system that is already failing thousands of
Americans. Mr. Moore has tried to exposed the industry for what it truly is, a profitable billion
dollar business, with well paid CEO s and Doctors that get paid more based on how many
surgeries the perform for ill patients and not by how well they ve treated patients with preventive
care to avoid diseases.
This film seemed more pathos, even with the addition of some facts and figures on

Gilgamesh Essay
Topical Essay 1
The story of Gilgamesh depicts all of the heroic triumphs and heart breaking pitfalls a heroic
narrative should depict to be able to relate to today s audience. However, Gilgamesh was once
considered a lost and forgotten piece of literature for thousands of years, so there is a tremendous
gap between the time it was created and the time it was translated into language that today s
audience can understand. That gap in history makes several aspects of the story of Gilgamesh
strange and unfamiliar because what we now know about ancient Middle Eastern cultures and
languages is a lot less than what we know about the cultures that prospered after ancient Middle

However, the prostitute was depicted as a nurturer and a symbol of pleasure. The prostitute seduced
Enkidu and taught him how to function properly in human society. The prostitute also played a
major role in Enkidu and Gilgamesh becoming friends because she led Enkidu to Uruk, which
was the place Gilgamesh ruled. The way the story of Gilgamesh ended was a bit strange to me as
well because typical heroic narratives end in heroism and triumph. In the story of Gilgamesh
Gilgamesh doesn t reach his goal of attaining eternal life at the end, instead he fails miserably and
meets the inevitable fate of death. I expected him to overcome the tremendous odds that were
stacked against him and victoriously become immortal. Today s audience is used to the hero
overcoming what most consider impossible at the end of a story. Although I found the story of
Gilgamesh to be somewhat strange it contained several familiar elements that are prevalent in
many heroic tales from the past and present. One familiar element was what some people refer to
as the under dog factor. Gilgamesh and Enkidu embarked upon the most grueling and epic journey
of their lives just to find the vicious giant named Humbaba. The way that Humbaba was described
in the story made you feel like there is no way possible he can be defeated. This makes the
audience want to side with the lesser opponents because you can relate

Christina Baker Kline s Orphan Train

quickly rose to the top of the New York Times bestseller list, and there is no question why. This
was a novel about adventure, discovery, persevering, and learning to love life. It was based

She meets a 90 year old woman who has had many identities during her time. She tells Molly
about her travels as an orphan during the 1930 s. These stories are very similar in their type, even
though they were many years apart. Molly and Vivian are both orphans, they have both
encountered tragedies, hope, and most of all loss. They have come to feel at times as if the world
were to fall apart, and the ground might break from beneath their feet, however they found ways to
move past the mournfulness and frightening times. Kline has written a page turning masterpiece
that paints a picture for the audience, the lives of orphans and how they persevered through the

The Importance Of Education In Physical Education
The goal of this topic of What is education in Physical education is to try and explain what physical
educators are actually teaching students. For this project, we are focusing on cognitive and
affective learning styles within physical education. The article Kyla looked at was The Importance
of the Affective Domain in the Educationof Physical Educators. The purpose of her article was to
look at the importance of affective goals and objectives related to the training of future physical
educators (Woodford, 1979). The affective domain looks at attitudes, feelings, interests and
values of the learned. It is best viewed as the way a person feels rather then how they think
(Woodford, 1979). The goal for physical educators should be to cover all areas of learning, which
helps adjust a person s value of physical education(Woodford, 1979).
6 goals as a physical educator might be to teach the courses in way that influences meaning of
each course. Another goal would be to create experiences that allow someone to pick and choose
the values they feel are most important in personal growth. A physical educator might try and
create a learning environment, which helps the students to develop values based on the level of
teaching you are interested in. An instructor may provide a base for understanding the value of
physical education in our society. An educator may focus on awareness and appreciation for the
flexibility to move things around in order to teach the social system

The Crimes Of The Criminal Justice System
When it comes being committed using technology, there are different types of crimes that can be
committed. These crimes have been traditionally defined as either computer crimes or cybercrimes.
The distinction in the two types of crimes seems to focus primarily on whether the crime can be
committed without the use of technology and if the computer itself was actively involved with the
crime. However, both types have created issues with the criminal justicesystem with how criminals
are committing their crimes, the difficulties in law enforcement performing their duties, and the
increased pool or potential targets and victims. Cybercrime is defined as any crime that involves
computers and networks, including crimes that do not rely heavily on computers (Choi, 3).
Cybercrime also consists of crimes that are illegal when committed without the use of technology
(Choi, 3). These types of crimes range from cyberbullying, exploitation of children, and online
harassment (Moore, 4). The types of crimes can be committed without the use of technology, but
have become more prevalent due to how more easy the crimes are to commit with the use of
technology. Child exploitation is a prime example as it is growing at a fast rate due to the
opportunities online. Child exploitation is a growing issue online as there are numerous avenues
that offenders can use to meet their perverse needs. There is the traditional avenue of sharing child

The Symbols Of Kwanzaa And African-American Culture
Kwanzaa History
Kwanzaa, a seven day holiday that celebrates African American heritage. Dr. Maulana Karenga
created Kwanzaa to help African Americans remember their roots and to foster unity during a
time of incredible racial strife. It s been observed from December 26 to January 1 every year since
1966. Karenga, a controversial figure in the black power movement, openly opposed Christian
beliefs and originally declared that Kwanzaa should be an anti Christmas of sorts. The name
Kwanzaa is derived from matunda ya kwanza, a Swahili phrase for first fruits, is based on
traditional African harvest festivals, combining customs from several different cultures. Each
of the seven days represents one of the seven principles of Kwanzaa, or nguzo saba. There are
also seven symbols of Kwanzaa, which celebrants display prominently in their homes throughout
the holiday. The colors of Kwanzaa are red, black and green the colors of the Pan African flag,
which symbolizes unity among African people all over the world. Black represents the people,
red their blood and green the earth and the future. Kwanzaa is, of course, a festive time; it has all
the feasting and celebrating you d expect from a weeklong holiday, but it s also an occasion for
reflection, conversation, contemplation and camaraderie. And although it s a relatively young
holiday, it has its fair share of very specific, detailed traditions. (Cooper, A. (2011, July 25).

with kids from the 1950 s who only stole from the market or carried B.B. guns. It is powerless to
the teens of today who commit random killings, robberies, and rapes. Research has also shown
that kids who grow up in poverty or lower income levels are more likely to exhibit violent
behavior. As more and more children are being raised in poor families, they suffer from the
instability caused by their parents lack of money. Janelle Rohr quotes a journalist for The
Washington Spectator when she concludes that teenagers violent behavior is an expression of
frustration and an effort to take some of the wealth they are denied (14). This could mean robbing,
raping, or even killing. It is mainly inner cities where these crimes occur. Rohr states that
Homicides take the lives of more children in the District of Columbia than any other type of injury,
including car accidents, house fires, or drownings (171). The attention that the teens get from
committing crimes may be the only type of attention they ever get, and this may be the reason that
many young people turn to the life of a criminal.
The National Rifle Association (NRA) has also been blamed for the lack of severity in gun
control. Almost anyone in the U.S. can buy a gun. In her book Clashing Views on Controversial

Terrorists Are Ordinary People
One of the significant learning points from the course material can be found in Section II, Brief
12 Think Like a Terrorist which points out Terrorists are ordinary people. The first step in
understanding the mind of the terrorist is to understand that terrorists are ordinary people with
ordinary needs and ordinary limitations. They make decisions about their missions just as we
make decisions about the tasks we carry out each day in our work and home environments (p.40).
The average person might think of a terrorist as an insane monster who has no morals or the
ability to feel. This concept is farthest from the truth, terrorists just feel strongly about their cause
and in many cases are willing to die for a chance to further that cause. With religious terrorists they

Gun Violence in the Inner City
GunViolence in Metropolitan Areas In the United States National Vital Statistics report written by
AM Minino in 2002, it was indicated that annually there are about 30, 000 people who die
because of firearm injuries. And within the United States 28, 663 deaths have been caused by
gunshots and these are mostly suicidal acts. Some of the facts in the report say that next to
suicides are homicides with the use of guns and the third highest numbers of deaths due to gun
violence are unintentional shootings, since this is America; most of these people have been living
in the metropolis (Minino, 2002). These deaths caused by firearms would not reach that level if

And actually though the U.S. is known as the most powerful country, their laws regarding firearms
are weaker than some other industrialized countries and the firearm deaths are even more than other
countries records (United Nations, Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice Division, 1997) In
addition to the above mentioned facts about gun violence, there is some specific information that
should be considered and focused on regarding the increasing rate of deaths that is caused by gun
violence especially in the metropolitan areas, or the countries where there are lots of cities that are
considered as metropolitan areas. Majority of the cities in the United States are industrialized or
already developed in a manner that they can stand and improve themselves on their own, since each
state in the United States have their own constitution. In these states in the United States or even in
other industrialized countries, most of the type of the guns owned legally or illegally by adults or
even underage citizens are handguns. Handguns are the most easy to carry, easy to hide, and easy
to shoot type of guns. In a fact sheet about firearm violence in metropolitan areas, it is indicate that
the most important function of a handgun is to kill human beings.

What Is The Difference Between Phonetics And Phonology
English linguistics has many specialties. Whereas semantics about sentence interpretation and
syntax is about sentence formation, phonetics and phonology cover the field of sentence utterance.
Phonetics is concerned with how the sounds are produced, transmitted and perceived whereas
phonology is concerned with how sounds function in relation to each other in a language. In what
follows we will discuss the meaning of both phoneticsand phonologyand show the difference
between them in detail. Phonetics can be describe as the study of the minimal units that make up a
language, and it is also a branch of linguistics that deals with the sounds of speech and their
combination, production, description, and representation by written symbols ... Show more content

The similarity between them is that they are both a branches of linguistics and the two is dealing
with the sounds structure and human speech sounds. Moreover, they are used in language
development, mostly in development of transcription and orthography, and it also said that
phonology begins from where phonetics ends which means that phonology is a continuation of
phonetics. Therefore, without one the other cannot exist. So when we move to the difference
between them what will be found is that Phonetics is the term that for the description and
classification of speech sounds whereas Phonology is the term used for the study of the speech
sounds that is used in a particular

Spices And Its Effect On Food
Introduction
Spices, have been around for thousands of years. Spices would be used in food to flavor it,
giving it tastes like spicy or sour. The spices back then would be cherished as tradeable goods to
other countries for a trade of currency, but soon the early cultures found out that the spices they
were trading could be used to prevent food spoilage. As an antimicrobial, many spices could be
helpful to get rid of the bacteria that can be found on food, or to preserve the food as well.
Bacteria can spread from anywhere, through the air, from the ground, and even from a person s
hands right when food is about to be eaten. There are many spices used to preserve food like
onions, cinnamon, cloves, mustard, rosemary, sage, and black peppers. These kinds of spices are
classified as either strong, medium, or weak because of their inhibitory effect that they have with
bacteria. (Documents/Spices) Cinnamon is one of these spices with these strong inhibitory effects.
Cinnamon refers to the dried bark of different types of beverages and chocolates it can be made
into. Cinnamon would be used not only for food, but also used when making cosmetics. Not only
can cinnamon be used for food, but as a health promoting agent, to treat inflammation,
stomachaches, and urinary infections. (ncbi.nih.gov) Researchers have found that cinnamon can be
used as an antimicrobial factor to get reduce growth bacteria. (ncbi.nih.gov) Researchers soon
studied that cinnamon was one of the strongest and

Mother-Daughter Relationships In Amy Tan s Two Kinds
Two Kinds Compare and Contrast Essay
Mothers and daughters are known to disagree with each other at times and many believe that it is a
natural occurrence. However, it is uncommon for a mother and her daughter to have such a
different view on a certain idea that their conflicting perspectives cause an emotional rift to form in
their mother daughter bond. The story Two Kinds, written by Amy Tan, tells the tale of Jing mei
and her mother, an example of one of those terrible occurrences. Jing mei s mother always wished
for her daughter to be successful by any means necessary, but unfortunately, Jing mei and her
mother had two very different ideas on what it meant to be successful. These different perspectives

you want me to be! This third difference in ideas was the final factor that contributed to the

My Time In High School
Throughout my time growing up I have had a lot of people tell me that high school will be the
time of your life. In many ways it is. High school for me would be described as fun, thrilling,
exciting, hard working, and some very exhausting years of my life. My years at Millry High
School have not been too long compared to others, however my memories are of great lengths.
During my time as a high schoolstudent, I have tried to become a fairly active student. Participating
in Bible club, drama club, yearbook, running for student council, homecoming court, being
nominated best personality, and Distinguished Young Women.
My time in high school have been some of the greatest times I have had thus far, with as little
bumps in the road as possible. Now don t get me wrong, I had a lot to learn during my time as a
high school student. During these years I have learned how to be myself, to work my tail off,
and that nothing is going to be handed to you. One of my biggest regrets I encountered during
my time as a high school student was not trying my hardest. I never really had to try much in
elementary and middle school. It just sort of came to me. When I entered high school, I thought
it would be the same. I was very wrong. I ended up going to summer school the summer of my
ninth grade year for my grades. I found it so embarrassing when everyone would ask if I could
hang out and I would have to say ВЁI can t I have summer schoolВЁ. Definitely not one of my
proudest moments there.

She is outgoing and determined to make something out of herself. Dee is lighter than her sister
Maggie, and she has a nice figure, and fuller hair. She is smarter than Maggie. But, Dee knows
the least about her heritage. Dee always want nice things: A yellow organdy dress to wear to her
graduation from high school; black pumps to match a green suit she d made from an old suit
somebody gave me (Walker 316). Dee judges Maggie because of her burned scars: Sometimes I
can still here the flames and feel Maggie s arms sticking to me, her hair smoking and her dress
falling off her in little black papery flakes. (Walker 316). Mama is a large big boned woman with
rough, man working hands. She wears flannel night gowns to bed and overalls during the day.
Mama is like Dee and Maggie, mother, and father. Mama treats Maggie different from Dee. She
treats Dee like she is the youngest. They all look at Maggie different because she is a little slow.
But, Maggie knows the most. Mama spoils Dee and she also get Dee whatever she wants.
Overall the story Everyday Use is based off who know the most about their heritage. The quilt is
the problem in the story. Both Maggie and Dee wanted the quilt. Maggie is ashamed of herself
because of her skin. Dee is the one who think she is on top of the world. Mama tries to keep both

Descriptive Essay On The Night
The Watcher
Every night there was a shadow out the window and it just lingered there. It was there one
second and then it was gone. I had a feeling that someone was there but I didn t want to believe
it. The next night I waited until I saw the shadow again and this time I got up and quietly walked
out the front door. As I made my way around the yard I looked around to see if I could see
anything that might look suspicious. I got to my bedroom window where I saw the shadow the
previous nights but this time all I saw was footprints in the dirt and no one in sight. They were
not human footprints but much larger and more deformed. I heard a loud growling noise behind
me and I was far away from the front door. I turned around and saw the giant shadow that was
now a monster. I ran around the house as fast as I could and made it to the backyard. I jumped
the fence but the monster was still behind me. I made it to the back door but it was locked and
now I was trapped. Just when I thought I was about to get killed by the monster it fell to the
ground and when I opened my eyes a tall dark man was standing there with a sword. He had
killed the monster just a moment before it got to me. Then just as I was about to say something
to him he was gone just as fast as he was there. I stood frozen and speechless. As I walked back to
the house I was just silent and thinking about everything that just happened. I went back to my bed
and laid there until I fell asleep.

Summary Of The Miraculous Journey Of Edward Tulane
I have read this book a couple times now, and the many complex things I have learned are
unbearable. Every chapter is important to what the end of the story is going to be. I think this
story of a china rabbit finding his way back home had more plot twists than I thought this story
would have. The first lesson that I will tell you will be to never give up hope on love, but to always
know that somebody will find room in their hearts for you. When you figure out what love is, your
heart will grow even bigger.
Love can bring together the love of others around them. But love can also bring effect on others
that have not seen what love can do to them. Love is not the impact of how expensive your
belongings are. Nothing is more expensive than the price of love. And that s one of the lessons
that I have learned from the book that I have read. In the beginning I read pages 5 thru 7 where
edward specifically said: The china rabbit was in possession of an extraordinary wardrobe
composed of handmade silk suits, custom shoes fashioned from the finest leather and designed
specifically for his rabbit feet, and a wide array of hats equipped with holes so that they could
easily fit over edward s large and expressive ears. Each pair of well cut pants had a small pocket
for Edward s gold pocket watch (Page 7) writing from the book The Miraculous Journey Of
Edward Tulane. and when I read that paragraph, I thought to myself, that not what love is about,
love is about the trust of others

The Role Of An Engineer Essay
When talking about engineering, people would probably have pictures in their mind of engineers
using machines producing parts, drawing and sketching designs, or even doing some mathematical
calculations. A more general answer to what engineers actually do would be that they solve social
problems through the use of machines, devices, systems, materials and processes. They are all
absolutely correct. But in reality, both the job and the role of an engineerare more complicated.
They do not only have to work with machines and designs. Engineers are often involved in
communications and negotiations. They have to work with different people and the responsibility
that they have is massive. Important decisions are made by them and they have to use their own
judgement. And very often, ethical considerations are already built into the decisions they make.
In order to make the best decisions, they have to be understood in the context of their role in
society and, moreover, they need to develop good ethical awareness and be able to deal with the
dilemmas that they have to face every day. As mentioned above, it is very important for engineers
to understand their own responsibilities. In 1960, the Conference of EngineeringSocieties of
Western Europe and the United States of America defined professional engineeras follows:1 A
professional engineer is competent by virtue of his/her fundamental education and training to apply
the scientific method and outlook to the analysis

Improving Intercultural Communication Skills By Learning...
Globalization is credited for reasons the world we know now is unified and having cross cultural
relations. Technology, trade, business and services require inter cultural communication and not
knowing the strategies and aspects of different cultural communications will lead to many
problems. Some of which my book mentions are ethnocentrism, stereotyping and prejudice. Having
these problems a society would not get along with one another and misunderstanding can devastate
relationships. As I mention earlier, different approaches can be used to develop intercultural
communications, these skills can help you avoid unnecessary misunderstandings and
misinterpretations due to ineffective communication. We can anticipate frustration, tension and
decreased productivity. Improving intercultural communication skills by learning about other
peoples cultures, behaviors and communication styles; unlock the potential for a creative and
dynamic cross cultural environment plus for keeping the relationship undamaged. From my daily
life experience, I am friends and co worker with different people from different cultural groups. Of
course I have things in common with these people, but that does not stop me from relating beyond
into understanding and trying to learn about their culture. From the book and my own, I have put
together some ways of improving inter cultural communication. First and foremost, giving emphasis
to other cultures is an aspect that involves one putting him or herself

Greek Influence On Modern Day Heroes
Ancient heroes are important to our understanding of modern heroes because they helped shape
our heroes today. This can be seen because Cesar Chavez also completed hero tasks that were
done in ancient times. This can also be seen because our modern day heroes reflect back to the
ancient ones for a example. The ancient heroes help show what modern days herowould be like. If
our ancient heroes helped shape our modern day heroes than it is possible that our modern day
heroes will affect the heroes that have yet to come. Heroes stand up for what they believe in.

Advantages and Disadvantage to being A Art Director
Michael Temple Professor Sigmon RWS 305 11 a.m. 14 October 2014 Need for Visual
Communication Art has been much more than just a hobby or a way of expressing ones feelings,
it was long before there was any proof of a verbal language; art was a key form of communication.
Artists create art to communicate ideas, thoughts, or feelings. They use a variety of methods such
as painting, sculpting, or illustration. Also an assortment of medians, including oils, watercolors,
acrylics, pastels, pencils, pen and ink, plaster, clay, and computers. Artists works may be realistic,
stylized, or abstract and may depict objects, people, nature, or events. Art today is the key form of

Through my research, artist can struggle to find a job they want or find it hard to sell their art.
Those artists who do not versatile in the different media s of art, their opportunities can be
limited due to keen completion in both salary jobs and freelance work. This is mainly due to the
number of qualified workers/artist exceeding the number of available openings in the career
field. As I stated earlier, there are some requirement to becoming an art director, and fulfilling
those requirements can be difficult. You have to at least find a job and keep it competitively to
sustain an income. In a Houston Chronicle article online by Megan Torrance mentions painters
like me have trouble finding work and commissions, ...the BLS reports that the number of
charitable donations has been declining in recent years. In spite of this, interest in the
occupation has remained steady and led to a larger pool of qualified candidate... the BLS
projects the market will remain competitive from 2010 to 2020 (Chron.com). The artist
occupying the art and design field is increasing while the number of jobs openings is staying at a
steady rate. This is why it is important to be versatile in multimedia of art, so that you have more
opportunities at different jobs in the art field. To be an art director you pretty much have to be
versatile in the different media s and have a few different positions under your belt to qualify for
the position. Another disadvantage to be

  • 2. Goals and Strategies of the Civil Rights Movement Essay African American Civil Rights Movement Throughout the 1960 s, the widespread movement for African American civil rights had transformed in terms of its goals and strategies. The campaign had intensified in this decade, characterized by greater demands and more aggressive efforts. Although the support of the Civil Rights movement was relatively constant, the goals of the movement became more high reaching and specific, and its strategies became less compromising. African Americans struggle for equality during the 1960 s was a relentless movement that used change for progress. In essence, the transformation of the Civil Rights Movement throughout the 1960 s forwarded the evolution of America into a nation of civil equality and freedom.... The excerpt reads further as a long dissertation of specific goals of the organization, which include black participation in government and economy, defiance against profiteers of slums, and the overall shift to a socialist America. In the socialist train of thought, society is invested in the integrity and economic participation of its people, and, therefore, blacks become almost invaluable to America. Here, each individual is seen as vital to the nation, because, if not, then the whole foundation of the socialist philosophy collapses. And so, it is implied in this document that a change for a new system of government in a new America is needed, which greatly contrasts from simply making people aware of a perfect world with guaranteed civil rights. Another significant transformation took place in the Civil Rights Movement in terms of its strategies. In analyzing this facet of the movement, we notice a great shift from nonviolent demonstration to forward, forceful action. Specifically, at the start of the Civil Rights Movement, lunch counter sit ins were evident throughout the nation, as were Freedom Riders. Starting in Greensboro, North Carolina at a luncheonette called Woolworths, young black citizens would seat ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

According to the given data I think the 1st reason is that not having an enough communication with the managers in the other countries. Chan Kee Tong is a person who was newly recruited from the company. He hasn t enough communication with the people in the company. Some of the managers he didn t even see as well as he didn t even talk. So there is a poor communication between Chan Kee Tong the other managers. So due to that the managers wouldn t trust or know much about the plans of Chan Kee Tong it would be a main reason for not getting a good answers from the managers. The second reasons than that they didn t get many replies because Chan Kee Tong is a newly hired recruiter he doesn t have any connection with the managers of the other countries. He even didn t talk with them. Though the assistant of the Chan Kee Tong is uneducated, he is having a greater knowledge about the company as well as the people in there. Journey of Self Discovery in Thomas Pynchons The Crying of Lot 49 Thomas Pynchons The Crying of Lot 49 challenges the readers perception of the world by enfolding his readers, through a variety of means, within the intricate workings of his narrative. It centers around would be heroine Oedipa Maas whose life is turned upside down when she discovers that she has been made executor of the estate of old flame and entrepreneur Pierce Inverarity. When she is imposed upon to travel to the fictional city of San Narcisco, where Inverarity is said to have numerous real estate holdings, in order to carry out her task, Oedipa stumbles upon a muted post horn; the first of many clues leading her deep into the impenetrable conspiracy ... Like Pynchons reader s, Oedipa is forced to either work toward interpreting the trail of seemingly indecipherable clues being tossed in her wake or forgo it all and walk away in bewilderment. Like the reader by deciding to go on, however aimlessly, she is forcibly drawn out of the complacency of her own existence; into a chaotic system of intrigue that reaches far beyond her normal scope of understanding. In the same turn, like Oedipa the reader s role is also based on interpreting numerous symbols and metaphorical clues as a means of stumbling upon a legible conclusion that will stop the madness. Each of them arriving at a different conclusion or none at all solely depended upon how far the use of our perceptions will allow us to go. Unfortunately both Oedipa and the reader (myself included) are overwhelmed by the myriad of inconsistencies and masked innuendo saturating this book from cover to cover. Unable to sufficiently distinguish between what is real and relevant and what is unreal and irrelevant, both are left feeling disconcerted and paranoid; fearful that nothing they ve ever perceived to be true, is... • 5. Essay on Queen Elizabeth The last queen of the Tudor dynasty, Queen Elizabeth I proved to be on of the most celebrated, and controversial leaders in English history. Raised in a neglectful home, and shadowed by her mother s reputation, Elizabeth did not have the royal treatment that her siblings received. From her birth, she was a disappointment, as a child she was intelligent, yet unnoticed, and the road to her 1558 1603 reign was troubled. Elizabeth was born on September 7, 1533. To the disappointment of King Henry VII, her father, she was a presumptive heir to the throne. Elizabeth s older sister, Mary, would have been heir to the throne, but that was stripped from her when Henry VII divorced her mother, Catherine of Aragon. Anne Boleyn, Elizabeth s mother,... One of her acts as queen was confining Elizabeth to the Tower of London for two months on suspicion of collaborating against her plans. Mary suspected that she was pregnant, and Elizabeth?s probability at descending the throne was diminishing rapidly, although Mary recognized Elizabeth as heir to the throne. It turned out Mary was not pregnant, and she became very ill. On November 17, 1558 she died. On January 15, 1559 Elizabeth became queen at the age of twenty five. A light snow fell on the packed London streets as the new queen was celebrated. The queen repeatedly told her people ?I thank you with all my heart.? After the coronation ceremony, Elizabeth sat down to a lavish ten hour banquet. Many challenged the queen?s right to absolute power. John Knox stated ?Women are unsuited to rule.? Elizabeth made it abundantly clear she would not stand for disobedience. During her reign, Elizabeth enjoyed charming men into agreeing with her views. To insure that her statesmen and courtiers did not take their positions for granted, she alternated between outburst of royal displeasure and displays of humor and warmth. Elizabeth was considered by most to be a gorgeous queen, and her beauty was unmatched. • 6. An Occurrence At Owl Creek Bridge Analysis I m really enjoying our assigned readings so far in class. My favorite so far has been An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge by Bierce. I was not expecting the ending to this short story at all, it caught me off guard. I honestly did believe that Peyton Farquhar, the main character of the story, managed to escaped his hanging by swimming away from the scene. What I did find sort of hard to believe was how much Peyton was able to imagine right before his death. What I mean by this is how he was able to imagine a whole escape plan that led him running all the way home to his wife, all while he was in the process of getting hanged. The whole story was about five pages long but it had a great amount of detail describing the events. I especially enjoyed this particular reading because I was able to picture every single moment as I kept reading along. I like stories where I know exactly what is going on and I m able to picture everything in my head and just flow like a movie would. This was one of those stories, especially after watching a Twilight Zone episode last class about this... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Again, I wasn t expecting that ending at all. Especially the husband, all he really wanted to do was buy a gun so that he can go hunting in the summer. I wouldn t necessarily say that Mathilde deserves those hard working 10 years she lost to repay the lost necklace mainly because it has always been in Mathilde s nature to want the best and dreams of other luxuries. I do, however, blame her for the misfortune she brought upon her and her husband when she lost the fake necklace. If she wasn t so demanding of things and would have settled with simply the dress her husband bought for her in exchange of his gun dream, then for sure their lives would probably have been a whole lot ... • 7. The Process Of Alternative Dispute Resolution The process of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) is a relatively new phenomena which has infiltrated contemporary next generation human resource management. As the use of ADR methods grew, proponents viewed them as promising mechanism s for an abundance of scenarios. Conflict has and always will be an inherent part of the workplace (Colvin 2003). It is for this reason alternative conflict resolution has amassed development, especially considering the cost of rigid normative procedures, with Gibbons (2007, p 7) estimating that employment conflict in the UK costing an estimated ВЈ410 million annually. Conflict is generated when one party perceives that another party has negatively influenced something the first party cares about (Huczynski and Buchanan 2007, p764). It is in this context that conflict resolution processes ought to address both the actions and perceptions of both parties in the dispute in order to garner more successful results (Willmott 1993). Therefore, in order to achieve this practically a significant shift was required from regular grievance strategies toward a more flexible and pragmatic system which promotes a positive outcome for both parties (Gibbons 2007, p 7). All forms of ADR will involve a third party with the role of the third party contingent on the type of ADR applied .The type of ADR used shall be dictated by the type of dispute, what stage it is at and ultimately the type of resolution being sought. It is against this backdrop that this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Reactor Process Parameter Monitoring Using Plc And Hmi Reactor process parameter monitor using PLC and HMI Abstract our paper outlines the basic stage of operation required to automate the reactor. Over the years demand for high quality, better efficiency and automated machines has increased in this globalized world. It briefly explains the process followed by the industry to automate an entire plant. This project basically focuses on the primary part of monitoring the parameters namely the temperature and the pressure. As the reaction proceeds in the reactor the temperature and pressure of the same varies. The temperature and pressure are measured using various temperature sensors like RTD and pressure sensors like pt100 respectively. Our aim is therefore to monitor them on HMI which is connected to PLC via a communication cable. • 9. The Specialization Of A Business Model Essay The Specialization Business Like the other models the specialization business model can be conflated with freelancers, solution based businesses, and also first to market models. Like the solution based model, the specialization model can be scaled up or built with the purpose of being sold. This kind of business model is a step beyond the solution idea and combines the freelancer and the solution provider. One could even argue that this is a matured version of the solution business. Whether the specialization business focuses on a good or a service, the specialization model typically has extremely proprietary knowledge and techniques which cannot be easily replicated by competing firms. Often, patents and complex legal barriers to entry are established to protect the specialist s natural advantages. Elements of the freelance, solution, debt, and first to market business models are present in specialization models, but I classify this as a unique model of its own because the owners must protect their secrets yet clone themselves to scale up. There are countless legacy businesses built on industry secrets, and proprietary knowledge. McDonalds, Chick Fil A, and Kentucky Fried Chicken were all founded on very specialized formulas and techniques that even to this day are exceptionally protected. Completely opposite firms like DutchBoy paint, and computer platform firms like Oracle can also be considered specialization businesses and also have their own secrets to ... Why do you think this is the case? The Legislative Branch is one out of the three branches of the government. All the branches of the federal government play a super important part in Government. However, the Legislative Branch is the strongest branch. All of the Legislative Branches privileges and powers are well defined in the U.S Constitution. They are the only branch that can make laws after all, amend the Constitution and ultimately has approval over all decisions affecting the nation as a whole. This seems like a clear reason on why the Legislative is so strong, it is the fact that they have so much power. Congress is the only one out of all three branches that is elected by popular vote, which can say a lot for the people. It is supposed to represent the will of the people. This paper will address the viewpoint of listening skills and its outcome. Listening is an essential tool, which is one of the constructive aspects in the communication process, for communicating with other people. To listen well is a talent that is learned. However, for people to listen effectively, they would need to practice to obtain the skill. As with any new skill, learning to listen takes effort, attention, and practice (Stewart, 2006, p. 202). Listening skills allow people to make sense of and understand what another person is saying. In other words, listening skills allow you to identify with the meaning of what people are talking about. Listening... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Since listening plays an essential role in the communication process, developing listening skills are important because they will help interpret what the speaker is saying during feedback. In other words, the listener should be able to respond to what the speaker talked about for clarification purposes. Accordingly, becoming a better listener, and depending on the situation, there are three types of listening strategies that would be beneficial to ensure effective communication with other people. Hybels and Weaver (2007) states that active listening, critical listening, and empathic listening are three different tactics that can be useful in diverse situations (p. 92).For instance, critical listeners focal point is to listen with determination and an open mind. They need to recognize and expect to learn something new from the speaker and ask questions about their viewpoints. Defining Listening Barriers The second aspect of listening is to avoid the barriers to efficient listening. Since words can be influential, there are some issues that may get in the way of listening effectively, such as bias, accents, and noise. These specific matters will result in poor listening communication because there are some people who are collective listeners because of their favoritism toward specific speakers; the language is not clear due to diverse accents, and depending on the surroundings, the ... Inquisitive sharks may bite holes in nets and enter the cages or become entangled in the nets and subsequently become distressed or drown. In response, employees of tuna ranching operations will either enter the water and attempt to wrestle the sharks out of the pens, or kill the shark. In Jim Chee and Joe Leaphorn we see a shared heritage, as well as their contrasting points of view which stem from choosing different values to live by. Quite a few characters in Hillerman s book, who are not of Navajo blood, connect themselves with Navajo culture through digs, collection, and personal gain. This essay will briefly touch on the view points of three characters; Jim Chee, Joe Leaphorn, and Richard DuMont. Dr. Maulana Karenga created Kwanzaa to help African Americans remember their roots and to foster unity during a time of incredible racial strife. It s been observed from December 26 to January 1 every year since 1966. Karenga, a controversial figure in the black power movement, openly opposed Christian beliefs and originally declared that Kwanzaa should be an anti Christmas of sorts. The name Kwanzaa is derived from matunda ya kwanza, a Swahili phrase for first fruits, is based on traditional African harvest festivals, combining customs from several different cultures. Each of the seven days represents one of the seven principles of Kwanzaa, or nguzo saba. There are also seven symbols of Kwanzaa, which celebrants display prominently in their homes throughout the holiday. The colors of Kwanzaa are red, black and green the colors of the Pan African flag, which symbolizes unity among African people all over the world. March 24, 1998, an eleven year old and a fourteen year old walked into school with hand guns, killing four and injuring ten classmates (teen violence.com). Thirty years ago, the biggest problem that kids at school were faced with was forgetting homework or being sent to the principal s office. The youth justice system was defined by the 1962 Family Court Act that was invented to deal with kids from the 1950 s who only stole from the market or carried B.B. guns. It is powerless to the teens of today who commit random killings, robberies, and rapes. Research has also shown that kids who grow up in poverty or lower income levels are more likely to exhibit violent behavior. As more and more children are being raised in poor families, they suffer from the instability caused by their parents lack of money. Janelle Rohr quotes a journalist for The Washington Spectator when she concludes that teenagers violent behavior is an expression of frustration and an effort to take some of the wealth they are denied (14). This could mean robbing, raping, or even killing. It is mainly inner cities where these crimes occur. Rohr states that Homicides take the lives of more children in the District of Columbia than any other type of injury, including car accidents, house fires, or drownings (171). The attention that the teens get from committing crimes may be the only type of attention they ever get, and this may be the reason that many young people turn to the life of a criminal. When you figure out what love is, your heart will grow even bigger. Love can bring together the love of others around them. But love can also bring effect on others that have not seen what love can do to them. Love is not the impact of how expensive your belongings are. Nothing is more expensive than the price of love. The Role Of An Engineer Essay When talking about engineering, people would probably have pictures in their mind of engineers using machines producing parts, drawing and sketching designs, or even doing some mathematical calculations. A more general answer to what engineers actually do would be that they solve social problems through the use of machines, devices, systems, materials and processes. They are all absolutely correct. But in reality, both the job and the role of an engineerare more complicated. They do not only have to work with machines and designs. Engineers are often involved in communications and negotiations. They have to work with different people and the responsibility that they have is massive. Important decisions are made by them and they have to use their own judgement. And very often, ethical considerations are already built into the decisions they make. In order to make the best decisions, they have to be understood in the context of their role in society and, moreover, they need to develop good ethical awareness and be able to deal with the dilemmas that they have to face every day.
