Persuasion Essays
Crafting an essay on the subject of "Persuasion Essays" can be a challenging endeavor, as it
demands a nuanced understanding of rhetoric, psychology, and effective communication. The
difficulty lies not only in presenting a coherent and well-structured argument but also in
mastering the art of persuasion itself.
To start, one must delve into the intricate aspects of persuasion, exploring the various techniques
employed to influence an audience's beliefs or actions. This requires a deep dive into classical
rhetorical devices, modern psychological principles, and the ability to analyze and apply them in
a cohesive manner. Balancing ethos, pathos, and logos – the three pillars of persuasive writing
– is no small feat, as it demands a keen awareness of the target audience and the context in
which the essay will be read.
Moreover, the challenge intensifies when one considers the need for originality and creativity in
crafting persuasive content. The saturation of information in the digital age means that standing
out requires more than just mastering the basics. A successful persuasion essay must bring forth
fresh insights, innovative arguments, and a compelling narrative to captivate the reader's
attention and convince them of the author's perspective.
Another hurdle is navigating the ethical considerations of persuasion. Striking the right balance
between influencing opinions and maintaining intellectual honesty is a delicate task. Avoiding
fallacious reasoning, logical pitfalls, and manipulative tactics adds an additional layer of
complexity to the writing process.
Time management is yet another factor that contributes to the difficulty of writing a persuasive
essay. Research, analysis, drafting, and revision demand a significant investment of time and
effort. Crafting a persuasive piece that leaves a lasting impact requires patience and dedication to
refining ideas and arguments.
In conclusion, tackling the challenge of writing an essay on persuasion involves mastering a
blend of rhetorical finesse, psychological insight, originality, ethical considerations, and effective
time management. It is a task that demands a thoughtful approach, strategic thinking, and a
commitment to excellence in communication.

Verb and Gerund
Introduction My course paper is called the gerund. I have chosen this subject,
because I want to know more about the gerund. There are several reasons for it: 1)1
want know more about the gerund, because it will help me in my future studying,
will help me not to produce errors ; 2) Since most languages ( e.g.: Spanish, Russian,
French) have infinitives, but no gerunds; 3) This will help me to increase my outlook.
I think the use of the gerunds in English is problem, because use infinitive is easier,
and How I wrote above the gerund is no in the Russian language. This is one of the
reasons why students do mistakes.
The gerund is rendered in Russian in different ways: a)The gerund executes the
functions of a subject in the sentences, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The English verbs include four forms distinctly differing one another within the
general verb system: the infinitive, the present participle, the past participle and the
gerund. As natural results of its origin and development the gerund has nominal and
verbal properties. The nominal characteristic of the gerund are followed: The gerund
can be perform the functions of subject, predicative, object, adverbial modifier, and
attribute. I will describe all of them. The Gerund is the non finite form of the verb
which combines the properties of the verb with those of the noun. The gerund serves
as the verbal name of a process, but its substantive quality is more strongly
pronounced than that of the infinitive. Namely, as different from the infinitive, and
similar to the noun, the gerund can be modified by a noun in the possessive case or
its pronominal equivalents (expressing the subject of the verbal process), and it can
be used with prepositions. Since the gerund is an abstract name of the process
denoted by the verbal lexeme, a question might arise, why the infinitive, and not the
gerund is taken as the head form of the verbal lexeme as a
Let It Not Be Like Hog Poem Analysis
If we must die let it not be like hogs The simile let it not be like hog motivates the
audience to die with dignity, it does this by implanting the thought of dying like a
hog, since hogs often die a brutal and cruel death this simile motivates the audience
to die a righteous death. This is a powerful line as it states the idea of the poem and
sets the scene for the audience. This line is the beginning of an extended metaphor.
Hunted and penned in an inglorious spot, This line (consisting of the metaphor
Hunted and penned in an inglorious spot ) adds effect to the simile in line one, as it
compares the same qualities. Hogs are often slaughtered in an inglorious spot (such as

The metaphor is meant to give the audience something to compare the situation to
and makes the audience empathetic towards the situation. If we must die oh, let us
nobly die, Ms McKay uses repetition and repeats the title/conditional statement If we
must die , this makes sure that the audience s attention does not get drawn away
from the thesis. McKay uses onomatopoeia when he says oh midline, it provides the
line with a sense of human connection and makes the line more dramatic. When he
says let us nobly die he pleads with the audience to let him and his people die with
dignity and to the African Americans to stand up and earn their rights. So that our
precious blood may not be shed The use of the word precious reminds the audience
that the African American s blood is important and that their lives should not be lost
for an unworthy cause. This line saddens the audience and gives them a true insight
to the situation. In vain; then even the monsters we defy The is the turning point of
the poem, the poet has outlined the situation and now is beginning to motivate the
audience to the overall goal of standing up for their rights and to die with dignity.
The semicolon is used to separate the two clauses. The poet uses the metaphor then
the monsters we defy as a way of comparing monsters and one s fears, this metaphor
provides starts to implant the audience with the idea of an uprising and motivation.

Brief Summary Of The Book Redemption By Nicholas
Lemann
Redemption During this time the only thing predictable about politics in
Reconstruction was its unpredictability. Colfax massacre being one of the bloodiest
encounters of Reconstruction, serves as the base to Nicholas Lemann s book.
Redemption is a story that shows the violent overthrow of Reconstruction in
Louisiana and Mississippi in the 1870s. Brief knowledge is known to historian, but
very little is known by the general public. In Lemann s demonstration of the Civil
War and Reconstruction, redemption is a very ironic term, and a huge play on words.
Redemption was a term white supremacists used to commemorate the destruction of
what they thought to be the vile imposition. Lemann s way of embracing the white
supremacist nomenclature, he made the paradoxes and the contradictions much more
vivid. The Radical Reconstruction would be the start of something that white
supremacists would want to come to an end soon after starting. The white
supremacists thought this to be the most breathtaking democratic revolution in the
nineteenth century world. In the chaos of the Civil War, the largest and most
powerful slave regime in the Americas was defeated militarily, and slavery was
abolished. This alone distinguished the American experience from every other servile

Most of the officeholders were white men who had been on the political margins
before the Civil War. In the Deep South, African Americans whom had just been freed
from slavery were allowed to serve as state representatives and senators, county

enfranchisement and the political empowerment of African Americans as the grossest
of illegitimacies and the direst of threats. Initially through vigilante bands such as the

Female circumcision, also known as Female genital...
Female circumcision, also known as Female genital mutilation, or female genital
cutting is a custom that has sparked controversy among many people belonging to
other cultures not accustomed to the practice. Within the argument lay a series of
debates surrounding the issue as culture and tradition clash with human rightsover
whether or not this practice should be allowed. Advocates against the practice draw
on the prevalence, perceptions, and reasons for conducting FGM to combat what
they believe is a human rights issue. Female genital mutilation is defined by the

Women themselves appear to defend this painful custom and take part in performing
it on others because of the significance in their culture and society. This is because
the issue has to do with women s perception of their role in the world. (Dawla) The
World Health Organization divides Female genital mutilation into four major types.
The first is called clitoridectomy. This process involves the partial or total removal of
the clitoris and, in some cases, only the prepuce. The second type is classified as
excision. This is defined as the partial or total removal of the clitoris and the labia
minora, with or without excision of the labia majora. The third type is infibulation.
This involves the narrowing of the vaginal opening through the creation of a
covering seal. The seal is formed by cutting and repositioning the inner, or outer,
labia, with or without removal of the clitoris. The adhesion of the labia results in the
near complete covering of the urethra and vaginal orifice. This stitching must then be
reopened for sexual intercourse and childbirth. The reversal process is called
defibulation. The last category encompasses all other kinds of harmful procedures to
the female genitalia for non medical purposes. These include things such as pricking,
piercing, incising, scraping and cauterizing the genital area. The first and second
types are the most common and account for over
Analysis Of The Cahokia Mounds
The image that I first selected was the Cahokia Mounds. The land covered about
2,000 acres and ranged from 10,000 30,000 people (64). According to the image, the
inhabitants live by farming and they had great architectures. They had a well
organized community and it looks to follow a certain order. Basically, the community
was well kept and organized. The image shows a society that is proper and that
everyone in the community has an important part in the community. That each
individual has a certain part in the community that keeps it rolling. Overall, the
inhabitants had a structure of their society that showed how organized and well put

Land Of The By Timothy Cole
Land of the Free Timothy Cole was a 24 year old student at Texas Tech University.
After completing two years of college, he had enlisted in the army for two years in
hopes of serving his country. Timothy was an ordinary man with dreams of getting
married and having children, but that dream never materialized. Upon his return to
Texas Tech in 1985, he was convicted and sentenced to 25 years in prisonfor the rape
of a 20 year old girl named Michele Mallin. Mallin, then, a student at Texas Tech
University Lubbock, was walking to her car when a man approached her and held
a knife to her neck. He forced himself into her car and drove her to the outskirts of
town where he raped her repeatedly. The next day the police investigator showed
Michele pictures of the suspect where she pointed at Timothy Cole. When police
showed her a lineup, again she picked Cole. I was positive, she said. I really thought
it was him, but in fact she had accidently robbed an innocent man of his freedom
(Lavendra 2009). Most Americans harbor the presumption that their criminal justice
system is fair and blind. Within that a priori delusion, an assumption is made that no
person shall ever be convicted for a crimethat he or she did not commit (Huff, 2002;
Marquis, 2005), (Jones 2012) .The United States upholds itself on the ideology of
freedom yet represses the freedom of innocent American citizens. From a young age,
children are taught that if they don t lie, cheat or steal, they won t have
Madoff Fraud Research Paper
The overall problem is trust. Humans are naturally bias and judgmental and this is
where the problem begins. People tend to trust a person more if they are educated,
drive a nice car, and are well groomed, over a person who looks average. The ponzi
scheme, that everyone has learned to hate, used image and wealth to get over on
business corporations, large and small investors, and regular people. Ponzi schemes
uses appearance and finesse to get investors to continually reinvest their money with

Madoff. Much of the reason why Madoff fraud went so long unchecked likely had to
do with his respectability and reputation for being a market genius (511). Once again,

Antonio Vivaldi s The Four Seasons
Antonio Vivaldi was a composer in the baroque period of music.
He was born March 4, 1678 in Venice Italy, and died on July 28, 1741. He lived
most of his life in Italy where his dad taught him how to play the violin. At often
times he and his father played together. Vivaldi was at one time a priest but his bad
asthma held him back. He was often called the red priest because of his beautiful
red hair. His father Giovanni Vivaldi was also a professional violinist, while also
being his music teacher. He left to study for the priesthood when he was around 14
or 15, and was ordained in 1703. When Vivaldi was 25 he was given the name master
or violin at the Devout Hospital of Mercy. Antonio was also incharge of a girls
orphanage. His two most renowned operatic works were Furnace, and La costanza
trionfante. They were revived multiple times during his life. Added on to Vivaldi s
regular employment, he also accepted many short term positions funded by Rome,
and Mantua. While in Mantua he wrote one of his masterpieces, The Four Seasons .

In this piece Vivaldi attempts to describe spring, summer, fall, and winter with

without knowing it. It starts spring very slowly he makes it so you can imagine
what spring looks like. Me personally imagine waterfalls and little kids running
around in the fields. You can hear the violin very clearly during most of spring. It s
very soft and subtle but every thirty seconds or so comes my favorite part it gets
very fast pace and many instruments jump in all at once, I start to imagine the little
kids running, and jumping! Then out of nowhere with not even the slightest sign of it
slowing down...it stops. Everything goes very soft and another thirty seconds or so it

How Did Sylvia Plath Misunderstood
Sylvia Plath was a American Poet that lived a life of betrayal, depression, and
madness. Some People say Plath s works are really good because of her depression

Essay on Katherine Mansfield s Miss Brill
As humans, much of our lives are based around social interaction. We are taught to
live through various means of socialization from the time of our birth . Without this
socialization and interaction among each other we can become very disillusioned
and confused about how to function as a part of society. One would tend to isolate
ourselves, exiled in this place we call the world. In Katherine Mansfield s short story
Miss Brill, one such person, herself a kind of outcast of society, creates a fantasy
worldin which she is at the center. Miss Brill is the story of a woman battling with
loneliness. She partakes in a ritual in which every Sunday she would spend the entire
afternoonat the local park eavesdropping and observing the people... Show more

In an attempt to make her life seem more important and extravagant than it really is,
one can understand furthermore Brill s pathetic nature. This defines Brill s character
as one of an idealist, making everyone and everything seem alive and interesting. She
seems to be loosing a sense of reality and her idea what is important is somewhat
warped.
Miss Brill intricately observes every little detail of the happenings around her
illustrating the extent to which she has lost a grasp on reality. She makes note of
everything from attire and attitudes, to body language and actions. Brill takes a
kind of pride in her ability to eavesdrop. They were odd, silent, nearly all old, and
from the way they stared they looked as though they d just come from dark little
rooms or even little cupboards! (Mansfield 99). Miss Brill excludes herself from
the rest of the people. Even when elderly people come into view, she quickly
distances herself from them as though different when in fact she too is old and
resides in a cupboard of her own. Brill associates and relates herself to only the
younger and more attractive people. The people which society deems the most
acceptable. Now everything, her hair, her face, even her eyes , was the same color as
the shabby ermine, and her hand, in its cleaned glove, lifted to dab her lips, was a
tiny yellowish paw. Oh, she was so pleased to see him delighted! (Mansfield 98) Miss
Brill describes her and her
Representation of Christianity in Charles Dickens Works...
Representation of Christianity in Charles Dickens Works
The representation of Christianity in Charles Dickens works was both debated and
largely overlooked by his contemporaries, particularly because of his lack of
representation of the views of the Established Church. In fact, Dickens voiced his
opposition to the practices of the Anglican Church. His negative representations of
Church officials, in many of his novels, pointed out what he felt were the hypocrisies
of the Church. Dickens was a liberal Christian and believed in a more humanitarian
view of Christianity. He wanted to remove religion from the high Church and place it
back into the lives of the common people. Dickens believed Christianity was ... Show

Dickens, a liberal Christian, viewed the dogma, teachings, and debates of the church
with disdain. For instance, in a letter to Miss Burdett Coutts, the headmistress of the
Home For Fallen Women, Dickens expressed what he believed to be a community
wide dissatisfaction with the Anglican Church for its indolent temporizing and its
miserable internal squabbles, [so much so] that [the congregation had] lost their
natural interests in the struggle (Johnson 185). Dickens was dissatisfied with the
Protestant church s (or any church s) use of text to claim religious authority for their
interpretation of the Bible (Ackroyd 506). Dickens believed these internal debates
were the cause of the people s disinterest in religion and thereby negatively affected
their faith in Christianity. He felt that the only way to set right these abuses of the
church was through religious reform (Johnson 185). Dickens was so adamant about
the necessity of Church reform that he advocated governmental intervention: when I
reflect upon all of this, in my unvarying faith that [Parliamentary] Reform is the only
true Preservation [of the Church] (Johnson 185). While some of Dickens
contemporaries believed his criticism of the church revealed anti Christian sentiment,
Dickens viewed his faith as deeper than that of the Established Church. He saw the
beliefs of the Established Church
Acceptance In Ask The Dust By Sixto Rodriguez

this curse. He strives for the acceptance in another dominant culture for personal

On the other hand, Sixto Rodriguez, well known as Sugar man, desired acceptance

How Does Yeats Use Syntax In The Second Coming
The apocalypse on earth has started, the Anti Christ a beast of half human, a half
animal is rising to earth, and the world is being pulled into the darkness of hell
through the gyre. The poem The Second Coming by William Butler Yeats is about
revelations. Throughout this poem, Yeats uses the language and syntax including a
new form of writing and literary devices, to the point of the view of the narrator,
form, and to show the context. The poem shows Yeats struggle in understanding
Christianity that left him searching for all his life to find some form of a belief
system. This struggle with religion was a result of Yeats father who was a religious
skeptic who thought religion was through art and poetry. Because of Yeats father s
teachings, it resulted in Yeats to explore different forms of religions that led him to

Coming and bring the imagery to life, for instance, he shows this in how he
explains the darkness is covering and recovering the earth and in how this beast is
rocking the cradle of the world. When using the gyre it illustrated the movement of
major cycles of history and went across the antiseptics of the human personality. For
Yeats, this was his personal search for faith through the gyre that led him to find
religion for a greater scope of linguistic force that led Yeats to explore the world of the

At point A, the price of a coke is RM2.00 and the quantity demanded for it is
12,000. However at point C, when the price of the coke increased to RM6, the
quantity demanded for the coke decreased 3 quarters compared with point A.
When the price of the coke increased to RM8, there was no demand of coke in the
economy. The price of the products affects the quantity demanded in the economy.
As the price increase, quantity demanded in the economy declines and as the price
decreases, quantity demanded for the product will increases. Other than changes
in price affects the demand curve, the determinants of demand can cause the
change in the demand curve shift to the right or to the left. [pic] Firstly, the
income levels of consumers will affect the demand of normal goods and inferior

Similarities And Differences Between The Spanish
American...
Several nations, most notably Spain, France, and Great Britain, attempted to colonize
North America after the Americas were discovered. Some of these colonies became
successful and was very beneficial to their nations, bringing in raw materials and new
crops. However, this also led to some conflicts between the Native Americans and the
Europeans. Even though these European colonies developed in different areas in
North America, there were some political, social, and economic similarities, such as
the French and Spanish governments, main religion in New France and New Spain,
and the basis of the economy, and some differences, such as the views on the Indians,
the New England government, and the focus on what was traded. All of these colonies

The majority of the population in each of the colonies was Christian, but New
France and New Spain had mainly Catholics while New England was mainly
Protestant. This disparity was due to the reasons the people decided to move to
the colonies. Protestants moved to New England to move away from the Church
of England since they believed that the English Reformation didn t change enough
things in the church. However, the Catholics from New Spain and New France
wanted to either convert the Native Americans into Christians or establish some
Christian influence in North America. In addition, they had very different views
on what the Native Americans were and how to treat them. In New Spain, they
saw them strictly as savages that were either supposed to be saved by converting
them into Christians or killed and conquered. In New England, their view of them
was originally positive because they were given assistance to survive on the
colonies, but they did become enemies due to their greed. In New France, their
view was very positive as they tried to make an alliance with the natives due to the
Indians involvement in the fur trade. All of these varying views were a result of
their differing goals in which they became friends or enemies depending on the
positives of having that relationship, such as New France s

The Mask Of The Bear By Margaret Laurence
Margaret Laurence was a Canadian novelist born in Manitoba. She liked to travel
and she based some of her works on the places she visited. Five of her books are
based on a town called Manawaka, though it is fiction, it is based on her birthplace.
The story The Mask of the Bear by Margaret Laurence, portrays a young girl that lives
in an unhealthy environment, this is shown through the themes of entrapment and
loneliness, through certain aspects of Vanessa s writing by using her mindand body to
escape, and furthermore, the story also combines the symbolism of wearing a mask.
The theme of entrapment and loneliness displays how Vanessa lives in an unhealthy
home. Through Vanessa s writing, it is revealed that she uses her mind and body to...

The above quote states, the family , it does not say, my family and Vanessa keeps on
referring to the house as the Brick house , it is never referred to as a home, this ties
in to the idea of entrapment within this family and house that Vanessa feels estranged
too. In contrast, all the family members had decided to cope in different ways, which
included loneliness and entrapment within themselves. The grandfather only desired
lone time, [t]hen he went down to the basement by himself (Laurence 77). It seems
as though, the grandfather goes down into the basement every time he is faced with
a hard situation. One of Vanessa s uncles that lived in Toronto came for the funeral
and his way of dealing is the least healthy, Uncle Terence went straight into the
kitchen, brought out his pocket flask, and poured a hefty slag of whiskey for himself
(Laurence 78). All the different ways that the family members decided to cope is
very important because they all show Vanessa how she might consider dealing with
future deaths. In brief, loneliness and entrapment is an unhealthy type of environment
for children to be around, there are different ways that theses aspects are shown
within this story; silences and the feelings of uselessness; neglect during hard times;
and, seeking solitary and the help of a bottle.

because new things are discovered and observed. Over the course of one year many
new ideas and thoughts were put on the table which lead to court cases, new plans,
and new literature. In 1925, the Scopes Trials becomes huge because it was right after
the law was changed that states shouldnt share your opions on evolution to their

Baroque Music
In researching musical eras that have greatly influenced music, there are two that
have stood out. The Baroque Era and Classical Era have generated artists that are
well known. Both eras play an important part of history with artists who have
influenced artists of today. In this essay, there will be a discussion on both types of
musicand differences of each. This discussion will also include a discussion on artists
of this era.
Baroque is a musical era that falls between two other important eras in music. These
two eras of music are the Renaissance Era and the Classical Era. This is roughly a
period between the 1600s and 1750. The era of Baroque music was one that showed
spectacular progress of knowledge with scientific discoveries, mathematical
advances, and philosophical explorations (Thornburg, 2014). The music from this
era can still be recognized today. Music from the Baroque period is the earliest
European music which we still generally recognize, whether it is the theme from
Masterpiece Theater, the Hallelujah Chorus from Handel s Messiah, or any number
of other pieces (Thornburg, 2014) . Most of the Baroque music of that time was
written on demand for specific occasions by those who thought of themselves as
craftsmen instead of artists. In listening to this style of music, there is a regular, ...

The name classical is applied to this period because of the art and literature, the keen
interest in and admiration for, and emulation of the classical artistic and literary
heritage of Greece and Rome (Classical Period, 2014) . During this age, people
viewed music not only for church and courts, but also for entertainment. This era was
dominated by three composers. They were Franz Joseph Haydn, Wolfgang Amadeus
Mozart, and Ludwig van Beethoven (Classical Period, 2014). The advances in styles
can be heard clearly in the instrumental forms such as the symphony, concerto, sonata,
and in instrumental chamber
The Social Media Of Adidas
Adidas was founded in the early years of 1924, at that time it bared the name
Gebruder Dassler Schuhfabrik. Its founder was named Adolf Dassler he was a
German by origin. The company mainly dealt with the design and manufacture of
sporting shoes, clothing and accessories. Adidas is the largest company in Europe.
It has companies under it, these companies are: Reebok, Taylor made Adidas Golf
Company, a piece of Bayern Munich and Runstatic. Adidas mainly uses social
media for marketing purposes as every other big brand, company and small
entrepreneurs do. What brings the difference in how known Adidas is than other
companies is how they go about their social media marketing. Adidas seems to
have done some a lot of research on how and where to fetch their customers. An
example is how they are excelling in Facebook; Adidas has about 13 million fans.
Using these platforms they give their fans information about their products and an
easy way to purchase any of their items. Adidas also catches the eye of their
followers on instagram by uploading graphics that attract their customers to want to
buy their products. These graphics are like shoes that have been well photographed

Sportswear Company in millions of dollars in the United Stated per year. INC
represents the annual income per capita in the United States in dollars. ADV equals
the amount that Columbia spent on advertising in the United States each year, and is
also expressed in millions of dollars. RS is the number of retail stores per year in the
United States. STP represents the average annual stockprice of COLM (Columbia s
ticker symbol in the stock market) shares in the stock market. COS equals Columbia
s annual cost of sales in the United States, in millions of dollars. We used t statistics,
F statistics and R squared to interpret the results of our regression. With twenty
observations (n=20), on intercept and five variables (k=6), the degree of freedom
equals fourteen. With 99% level of confidence, t critical t_14^0.01≈ 2.977. For
two of the five independent variables t calculated t critical, implying that the annual
average stock price and the cost of sales are strongly significant in the sales of
Columbia sportswear. As a result, a one dollar ($1) increase in the average annual
stock price of the company leads to an increase of $3.37 million in sales. A one
dollar ($1) increase in the cost of sales leads to an increase of $1.44 million in the
sales of the company. Also with 99% level of confidence, we can assert that
Columbia Sportswear Company would be losing $186.9 million without the
Theme Of Storytelling In The Things They Carried
Storytelling is like opening a window to the mind of the listeners. Stories provide the
chance to experience a wide variety of emotions without actually having to go
through the situations in which you would feel them. Tim O Brien uses himself to
show us that storytelling and memory can help alleviate burdens over time. Through
the book, The Things They Carried, we can take a look at many war stories that Tim
tells and how storytellingcan get people through the times they never thought they
could. He shows this by retelling many stories about the burdens he carries from the
war throughout this book. Burdens are heavy loads, almost like an invisible back

In the text, Tim O Brien uses, But this too is true: stories can save us, in a story,
miracles can happen (O Brien 213 224). Through this, we can infer that stories can
mean nothing to some people and mean the world to others. In a story, there might
be something said that can remind a person that even though you may have been
in a rough situation that you think you ll never be able to recover from, it is
possible. I read an article on how Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) became a
problem far beyond the battlefield. In the article, there was a section that talked
about how the soldiers come home from war and don t know how to act in the new
environment from were they ve been striving for what seemed to be forever. This
can cause an unhealthy amount of stress and uncomfortableness on the soldiers
because they are going from being with the same group of people under the same
rough conditions to returning home and having to try and settle back into a much
more relaxed setting than they were used to. This can directly be seen in the article
where it says, Many soldiers will tell you that the hardest things about coming home
is learning to sleep without the security of a group of heavily armed men around them
(Junger). When the men come home and tell the memories they have from fighting in
the war, it helps them relieve what they ve been carrying

In terms of both candidates I really was surprised in lots of things that had happened
in their childhoods. In particular Donald Trump that had always had that winning
mentality. At a very young age he had got sent to the military academy and most that
would go would absolutely hate it due to how hard it is to be in the military academy.
I think one of the most interesting things that I learned about Donald Trump is that he
in his own eyes he only saw losers and winners in this world and his father had
installed the idea that in this world you either a ВЁkillerВЁ. And what Donald s
dad was trying to say is you either someone who has lots of confidence to do what
you wanted to do or you are just not meant to be for this world and just a loser. On

made a whole statement on Roffman and then Roffman got fired from the firm.
Hillary seems to be really happy for most of the time and seems to be really
optimistic about lots of things and seems really humble and really seems to have
lots of perseverance. This is impacts her because it gives her positive image of

Pandas of the Wild
The face of World Wildlife Fund since 1961, the giant panda has become
synonymous with the plight of conservation. These iconic black and white bears,
known for their distinctive black eye patches and affinity for bamboo, are loved and
admired by billions of people across the world. However, despite their celebrity status
in the animal kingdom and worldwide conservation efforts, these unique mammals
are still endangered: only an estimated 1,200 2,400 pandas exist in the wild today.

Naturalists like Chris Packham have argued that the captive panda breeding programs
are pointless because there is not enough habitat left to sustain them. Additionally,
pandas are notoriously ineffective breeders, whether in the wild or captivity.
Desperate breeders have tried every option, from giving pandas Viagra to making
them watch panda porn; however, only artificial insemination has been successful,
albeit partly. Thus, many people like Packham argue that our energy and money is
better spent elsewhere.
Save the Pandas:
Besides being a prestigious cultural icon and a Chinese national treasure, pandas are a
precious commodity that drives tourism and offers a huge revenue stream for the
zoos and tourist hubs that host them.
Organizations like the WWF, Giant Panda Conservation Centre, as well as the
Chinese government are funding more than 50 panda reserves throughout China.
Although they have their own UNESCO World Heritage Site designation (the
Sichuan Giant Panda Sanctuaries, which span over seven natural reserves), panda
populations will continue to decrease if we continue to encroach on their habitat and
pollute their environment.

Culture, Culture And Culture Essay
Culture
Many times we hear concepts like Oriental culture , Italian culture or Gothic Culture
. So we can understand and verify that it is an important concept related to the idea
of the society where we live in. Culture, in Sociology, is a concept developed during
XVIII and XIX centuries that has had various definitions.
One exhaustive definition is in Browne (2015, p. 31):
Culture refers to the language, beliefs, values and norms, customs, dress, diet, roles,
knowledge and skills, and all the other things that people learn that make up the way
of life of any society
So when we use the expression Italian culture we know that we are talking about the
entire set of believes, knowledge and the whole way of life that characterise Italian
people. Something connected to their country but that is with them wherever they
go. If they are born in Italy or within an Italian group of people they will speak
Italian, they will eat traditional Italian food when they are home, they will be
probably Catholic etc.
While many concepts inside Browne definition are familiar and easy to identify like
language and diet, three of them need a proper explanation for a better understanding
of them.
Values, Norms, Roles
What are values ?
The word values is often used in our daily language. When we listen to someone that
is talking about her or his values we understand that that person is talking about
something that marks out what characterize her/his own concept of what is important,
Post Bariatric Surgery
When reviewing the literature found during research on the Lewis J. Ort library
database, bariatric surgery, when conducted on adolescents and children resulted in
effective early weight loss for morbidly obese adolescents, and that this weight loss
results in clear improvements to metabolic as well as psychosocial outcomes
(Stefater, Jenkins, Inge, 2012). Post bariatric outcomes are also quite similar to those
of adults who have the same surgery with Roux en Y gastric bypass producing the
greatest weight loss with the most robust evidence base (Black, White, Viner,

Preliminary evidence suggests that bariatric surgery may reduce healthcare
expenditures for obese individuals. However, like any surgical intervention, bariatric
surgery poses some risks in addition to these advantages (Stefater, Jenkins, Inge,

surgery patients (Penna, Markar, Hewes, Fiennes, Jones, Hashemi, 2013). This is
concerning given that these patients may be at high risk for negative consequences
without follow up (Penna, Markar, Hewes, Fiennes, Jones, Hashemi,

The Structure Of Gravity Flow Lines
PIPING DESIGNFOR GRAVITY FLOW LINES V Sunil Sagar, Shitij Mahajan,
Saurav Tripathy MineralsTeam,Weir Ensci (Category NewProductDesign)
Abstract Gravity flow is the most common form of flow through pipes. Practical
applications of gravity flow pipelines are numerous ranging from overhead tanks,
water distribution systems, sanitary lines etc. When it comes to minerals
processing the applications are wide ranging, for instance sumps/tanks connected
to pumps, cyclone distributor underflow, tether/dilution water etc. The design of
gravity flow lines appears to be simple but in reality it is quite complex considering
the various factors affecting the flow. As it is a two phase flow possibility of slug
flow due toWater lock, air locks and siphons is very high. There are several flow
patterns that are possible due the effect of gravity, which tends to separate the
phases and creates stratification. Very often severe problems can occur of slug
flow is present in a pipeline. Slug flow can be avoided in piping by the following
approach Reducing line sizes to the minimum permitted by available pressure
differentials to achieve a safe mass flow rate Designing for parallel pipe runs that
will permit increasing mass flux per pipe at low load conditions by removing one
pipe from service Arranging the pipe configurations to protect against slug flow (for
example, in a pocketed line where liquid might collect and slug flow can develop).

Jake Burton: Burton Snowboards
When you think of snowboarding, more often than not, Burton is the first brand
that comes to mind. The most popular brand in the world was made that way by
one man: Jake Burton. His vision to make what was once thought of as a passing
fad into the most popular extreme sport in the world was really incredible. The
odds he overcame, from ski resorts not allowing snowboarders to cancer, are a real
testament to his dedication and passion to pushing this sport, and lifestyle, to what it
is today. In this paper I will discuss how he turned a wooden plank into an almost $1

are the most important. Take my situation. Oh man, I hate life here. The worst part
is that I don t even deserve it. I am innocent, I don t care what the judge and
everybody else thinks! I am innocent! My teacher used to tell us that we are to
never, ever say the word hate, and if we ever did, we were to stay in at break and
write I do not hate, I strongly don t like on a piece of paper fifty times! I m sorry,
Mrs. Halbert, but I hate that judge. He put me here. He is the reason I m in juvie.

A bunch of people were coming up to me and trying to make friends, but I was not
in the mood. That was going on for the entire first week and guards started to
notice. I tried not to show it, but I was mad! I wasn t mad at anything in particular,
just the situation, so I kept ignoring the world. Finally, the guard said that I needed
to express my feelings, so he gave me this diary. That felt better. Next time, I will
explain it all. November 2, 2015: My name is Samantha McWilliams and I am
thirteen. I have one brother, Kyle, who is in grade ten. This is how it all began. . .
. One day, I was walking home from school with some guy I didn t even recognize.
Now that I think of it, I m not even sure that he goes to my school. It is pretty
simple actually, all he did was plant a pair of stolen shoes on me. I didn t see any
police chasing him, but they must have been, because the second he left, they
arrested me. He was wearing gloves, so the only fingerprints they found were my

Belle Fleurs Business Analysis
Business Plan Idea
The business that I have chosen is called Belle Fleurs. Customers have the
opportunity to buy handcrafted bouquets, cards, or just beautiful flowers. It was
delegated the name Belle Fleurs because flowers in French is fleurs. Belle means
beautiful as well. This idea of a small flower shop came as a sudden inspiration to
me. I have always had an admiration towards flowers. I felt that there was room in
the florist in industry, which made me realize it would be a good idea to create a
flower shop. I have taken a variety of courses that may help me achieve the goal of
this business. Business Concepts, Personal Finance, Accounting and now
Entrepreneurship show that I am capable of pursuing this business.
I have a few objectives for this store that will help us succeed. One of our goals is
that we break even the first year. This may seem like an ambitious goal but we are
very driven and feel that we are capable of doing it. When the first year is over we
would like to minimize the manufacturing cost by 10%. This could help bring the
cost of making the product down so that our profit margin will go up. Our company
would also like to maximize the consumer satisfaction. We would like to have 85%
of our customers be satisfied. The reason that we have picked this number is because
not everyone will be happy with the product because consumers may have different
reasons that they dislike the product that we can not change. We will try our best to

Persuasion Essays.pdf

  • 1. Persuasion Essays Crafting an essay on the subject of "Persuasion Essays" can be a challenging endeavor, as it demands a nuanced understanding of rhetoric, psychology, and effective communication. The difficulty lies not only in presenting a coherent and well-structured argument but also in mastering the art of persuasion itself. To start, one must delve into the intricate aspects of persuasion, exploring the various techniques employed to influence an audience's beliefs or actions. This requires a deep dive into classical rhetorical devices, modern psychological principles, and the ability to analyze and apply them in a cohesive manner. Balancing ethos, pathos, and logos – the three pillars of persuasive writing – is no small feat, as it demands a keen awareness of the target audience and the context in which the essay will be read. Moreover, the challenge intensifies when one considers the need for originality and creativity in crafting persuasive content. The saturation of information in the digital age means that standing out requires more than just mastering the basics. A successful persuasion essay must bring forth fresh insights, innovative arguments, and a compelling narrative to captivate the reader's attention and convince them of the author's perspective. Another hurdle is navigating the ethical considerations of persuasion. Striking the right balance between influencing opinions and maintaining intellectual honesty is a delicate task. Avoiding fallacious reasoning, logical pitfalls, and manipulative tactics adds an additional layer of complexity to the writing process. Time management is yet another factor that contributes to the difficulty of writing a persuasive essay. Research, analysis, drafting, and revision demand a significant investment of time and effort. Crafting a persuasive piece that leaves a lasting impact requires patience and dedication to refining ideas and arguments. In conclusion, tackling the challenge of writing an essay on persuasion involves mastering a blend of rhetorical finesse, psychological insight, originality, ethical considerations, and effective time management. It is a task that demands a thoughtful approach, strategic thinking, and a commitment to excellence in communication. For those seeking assistance with essays or similar writing tasks, various resources are available. Services like HelpWriting.net provide support in crafting well-researched and professionally written pieces. • 2. Verb and Gerund Introduction My course paper is called the gerund. I have chosen this subject, because I want to know more about the gerund. There are several reasons for it: 1)1 want know more about the gerund, because it will help me in my future studying, will help me not to produce errors ; 2) Since most languages ( e.g.: Spanish, Russian, French) have infinitives, but no gerunds; 3) This will help me to increase my outlook. I think the use of the gerunds in English is problem, because use infinitive is easier, and How I wrote above the gerund is no in the Russian language. This is one of the reasons why students do mistakes. The gerund is rendered in Russian in different ways: a)The gerund executes the functions of a subject in the sentences, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The English verbs include four forms distinctly differing one another within the general verb system: the infinitive, the present participle, the past participle and the gerund. As natural results of its origin and development the gerund has nominal and verbal properties. The nominal characteristic of the gerund are followed: The gerund can be perform the functions of subject, predicative, object, adverbial modifier, and attribute. I will describe all of them. The Gerund is the non finite form of the verb which combines the properties of the verb with those of the noun. The gerund serves as the verbal name of a process, but its substantive quality is more strongly pronounced than that of the infinitive. Namely, as different from the infinitive, and similar to the noun, the gerund can be modified by a noun in the possessive case or its pronominal equivalents (expressing the subject of the verbal process), and it can be used with prepositions. Since the gerund is an abstract name of the process denoted by the verbal lexeme, a question might arise, why the infinitive, and not the gerund is taken as the head form of the verbal lexeme as a
  • 3. Let It Not Be Like Hog Poem Analysis If we must die let it not be like hogs The simile let it not be like hog motivates the audience to die with dignity, it does this by implanting the thought of dying like a hog, since hogs often die a brutal and cruel death this simile motivates the audience to die a righteous death. This is a powerful line as it states the idea of the poem and sets the scene for the audience. This line is the beginning of an extended metaphor. Hunted and penned in an inglorious spot, This line (consisting of the metaphor Hunted and penned in an inglorious spot ) adds effect to the simile in line one, as it compares the same qualities. Hogs are often slaughtered in an inglorious spot (such as a barn, shed or warehouse). This line suggests that the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The metaphor is meant to give the audience something to compare the situation to and makes the audience empathetic towards the situation. If we must die oh, let us nobly die, Ms McKay uses repetition and repeats the title/conditional statement If we must die , this makes sure that the audience s attention does not get drawn away from the thesis. McKay uses onomatopoeia when he says oh midline, it provides the line with a sense of human connection and makes the line more dramatic. When he says let us nobly die he pleads with the audience to let him and his people die with dignity and to the African Americans to stand up and earn their rights. So that our precious blood may not be shed The use of the word precious reminds the audience that the African American s blood is important and that their lives should not be lost for an unworthy cause. This line saddens the audience and gives them a true insight to the situation. In vain; then even the monsters we defy The is the turning point of the poem, the poet has outlined the situation and now is beginning to motivate the audience to the overall goal of standing up for their rights and to die with dignity. The semicolon is used to separate the two clauses. The poet uses the metaphor then the monsters we defy as a way of comparing monsters and one s fears, this metaphor provides starts to implant the audience with the idea of an uprising and motivation. • 4. Brief Summary Of The Book Redemption By Nicholas Lemann Redemption During this time the only thing predictable about politics in Reconstruction was its unpredictability. Colfax massacre being one of the bloodiest encounters of Reconstruction, serves as the base to Nicholas Lemann s book. Redemption is a story that shows the violent overthrow of Reconstruction in Louisiana and Mississippi in the 1870s. Brief knowledge is known to historian, but very little is known by the general public. In Lemann s demonstration of the Civil War and Reconstruction, redemption is a very ironic term, and a huge play on words. Redemption was a term white supremacists used to commemorate the destruction of what they thought to be the vile imposition. Lemann s way of embracing the white supremacist nomenclature, he made the paradoxes and the contradictions much more vivid. The Radical Reconstruction would be the start of something that white supremacists would want to come to an end soon after starting. The white supremacists thought this to be the most breathtaking democratic revolution in the nineteenth century world. In the chaos of the Civil War, the largest and most powerful slave regime in the Americas was defeated militarily, and slavery was abolished. This alone distinguished the American experience from every other servile ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the Deep South, African Americans whom had just been freed from slavery were allowed to serve as state representatives and senators, county commissioners, treasurers, and occasionally sheriffs. They regarded the civil enfranchisement and the political empowerment of African Americans as the grossest of illegitimacies and the direst of threats. The first is called clitoridectomy. This process involves the partial or total removal of the clitoris and, in some cases, only the prepuce. The second type is classified as excision. This is defined as the partial or total removal of the clitoris and the labia minora, with or without excision of the labia majora. The third type is infibulation. This involves the narrowing of the vaginal opening through the creation of a covering seal. The seal is formed by cutting and repositioning the inner, or outer, labia, with or without removal of the clitoris. The adhesion of the labia results in the near complete covering of the urethra and vaginal orifice. This stitching must then be reopened for sexual intercourse and childbirth. The reversal process is called defibulation. The last category encompasses all other kinds of harmful procedures to the female genitalia for non medical purposes. These include things such as pricking, piercing, incising, scraping and cauterizing the genital area. The first and second types are the most common and account for over

After completing two years of college, he had enlisted in the army for two years in hopes of serving his country. Timothy was an ordinary man with dreams of getting married and having children, but that dream never materialized. Upon his return to Texas Tech in 1985, he was convicted and sentenced to 25 years in prisonfor the rape of a 20 year old girl named Michele Mallin. Mallin, then, a student at Texas Tech University Lubbock, was walking to her car when a man approached her and held a knife to her neck. He forced himself into her car and drove her to the outskirts of town where he raped her repeatedly. The next day the police investigator showed Michele pictures of the suspect where she pointed at Timothy Cole. When police showed her a lineup, again she picked Cole. I was positive, she said. I really thought it was him, but in fact she had accidently robbed an innocent man of his freedom (Lavendra 2009). The Model Of Columbia Sportswear Company The regression analyzes the number of sales (the dependent variable) of Columbia Sportswear Company in millions of dollars in the United Stated per year. INC represents the annual income per capita in the United States in dollars. ADV equals the amount that Columbia spent on advertising in the United States each year, and is also expressed in millions of dollars. RS is the number of retail stores per year in the United States. STP represents the average annual stockprice of COLM (Columbia s ticker symbol in the stock market) shares in the stock market. COS equals Columbia s annual cost of sales in the United States, in millions of dollars. We used t statistics, F statistics and R squared to interpret the results of our regression. With twenty observations (n=20), on intercept and five variables (k=6), the degree of freedom equals fourteen. With 99% level of confidence, t critical t_14^0.01≈ 2.977. For two of the five independent variables t calculated t critical, implying that the annual average stock price and the cost of sales are strongly significant in the sales of Columbia sportswear. As a result, a one dollar ($1) increase in the average annual stock price of the company leads to an increase of $3.37 million in sales. Through the book, The Things They Carried, we can take a look at many war stories that Tim tells and how storytellingcan get people through the times they never thought they could. In a story, there might be something said that can remind a person that even though you may have been in a rough situation that you think you ll never be able to recover from, it is possible. I read an article on how Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) became a problem far beyond the battlefield. In the article, there was a section that talked about how the soldiers come home from war and don t know how to act in the new environment from were they ve been striving for what seemed to be forever. This can cause an unhealthy amount of stress and uncomfortableness on the soldiers because they are going from being with the same group of people under the same rough conditions to returning home and having to try and settle back into a much more relaxed setting than they were used to. This can directly be seen in the article where it says, Many soldiers will tell you that the hardest things about coming home is learning to sleep without the security of a group of heavily armed men around them (Junger). When the men come home and tell the memories they have from fighting in the war, it helps them relieve what they ve been carrying

Causes Of Donald Trump Persuasive Essay Emmanuel Hernandez APUSH 05/4/18 Period 1 Video:The Choice 2016 In terms of both candidates I really was surprised in lots of things that had happened in their childhoods. In particular Donald Trump that had always had that winning mentality. At a very young age he had got sent to the military academy and most that would go would absolutely hate it due to how hard it is to be in the military academy. I think one of the most interesting things that I learned about Donald Trump is that he in his own eyes he only saw losers and winners in this world and his father had installed the idea that in this world you either a ВЁkillerВЁ. And what Donald s dad was trying to say is you either someone who has lots of confidence to do what you wanted to do or you are just not meant to be for this world and just a loser. These iconic black and white bears, known for their distinctive black eye patches and affinity for bamboo, are loved and admired by billions of people across the world. However, despite their celebrity status in the animal kingdom and worldwide conservation efforts, these unique mammals are still endangered: only an estimated 1,200 2,400 pandas exist in the wild today. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Naturalists like Chris Packham have argued that the captive panda breeding programs are pointless because there is not enough habitat left to sustain them. Additionally, pandas are notoriously ineffective breeders, whether in the wild or captivity. Desperate breeders have tried every option, from giving pandas Viagra to making them watch panda porn; however, only artificial insemination has been successful, albeit partly. Thus, many people like Packham argue that our energy and money is better spent elsewhere. Save the Pandas: Besides being a prestigious cultural icon and a Chinese national treasure, pandas are a precious commodity that drives tourism and offers a huge revenue stream for the zoos and tourist hubs that host them. Organizations like the WWF, Giant Panda Conservation Centre, as well as the Chinese government are funding more than 50 panda reserves throughout China. Although they have their own UNESCO World Heritage Site designation (the Sichuan Giant Panda Sanctuaries, which span over seven natural reserves), panda populations will continue to decrease if we continue to encroach on their habitat and pollute their environment. So we can understand and verify that it is an important concept related to the idea of the society where we live in. Culture, in Sociology, is a concept developed during XVIII and XIX centuries that has had various definitions. One exhaustive definition is in Browne (2015, p. 31): Culture refers to the language, beliefs, values and norms, customs, dress, diet, roles, knowledge and skills, and all the other things that people learn that make up the way of life of any society So when we use the expression Italian culture we know that we are talking about the entire set of believes, knowledge and the whole way of life that characterise Italian people. Something connected to their country but that is with them wherever they go. If they are born in Italy or within an Italian group of people they will speak Italian, they will eat traditional Italian food when they are home, they will be probably Catholic etc. While many concepts inside Browne definition are familiar and easy to identify like language and diet, three of them need a proper explanation for a better understanding of them. Values, Norms, Roles What are values ? The word values is often used in our daily language. When we listen to someone that is talking about her or his values we understand that that person is talking about something that marks out what characterize her/his own concept of what is important,

The Structure Of Gravity Flow Lines PIPING DESIGNFOR GRAVITY FLOW LINES V Sunil Sagar, Shitij Mahajan, Saurav Tripathy MineralsTeam,Weir Ensci (Category NewProductDesign) Abstract Gravity flow is the most common form of flow through pipes. Practical applications of gravity flow pipelines are numerous ranging from overhead tanks, water distribution systems, sanitary lines etc. When it comes to minerals processing the applications are wide ranging, for instance sumps/tanks connected to pumps, cyclone distributor underflow, tether/dilution water etc. The design of gravity flow lines appears to be simple but in reality it is quite complex considering the various factors affecting the flow. As it is a two phase flow possibility of slug flow due toWater lock, air locks and siphons is very high. There are several flow patterns that are possible due the effect of gravity, which tends to separate the phases and creates stratification. Very often severe problems can occur of slug flow is present in a pipeline. Slug flow can be avoided in piping by the following approach Reducing line sizes to the minimum permitted by available pressure differentials to achieve a safe mass flow rate Designing for parallel pipe runs that will permit increasing mass flux per pipe at low load conditions by removing one pipe from service Arranging the pipe configurations to protect against slug flow (for example, in a pocketed line where liquid might collect and slug flow can develop).
