Exploring The Possibilities Of Local Manufacturing And...
This paper will explore the possibilities of local manufacturing and food market reconstitution. Both
topics present the question what is best the future of America? As consumer s we have the opportunity
to bring awareness and doing our part to help boost the local economy with our purchasing power.
Individuals can help progress the economy in their community and overall in the United States by
supporting local manufacturing or purchasing products Made In USA and by buying from local food
markets. The environment, health and safety are equally important in manufacturing and the food
market. If we are not concerned with the environment that our products are manufactured or our food
production; this can affect our health and safety. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mott called the capacity for accomplishment. Mott is involved in funding Virtual Incubation Network
initiative; their initiate is to help reconstitute local economies. 10 out of the 35 community colleges
across the country are using funds from Mott to extend the range of services provided for the business
incubator projects. Mott provided the $995,500 in funding to help geographically isolated, depressed
and hard to serve area community colleges to better understand the potential of new communication
technologies in spawning and fostering small business development in response to local market need
and niche. (Mott, 2015)
The idea behind this project is to figure out how we can give an entrepreneur 100 miles away from the
college an equivalent experience to one who is located right here on our campus, said Jim Shanahan,
director of the Entrepreneurship Innovation Institute at Lorain County (Ohio) Community College
(LCCC). It is one of the 10 community colleges taking part in the Virtual Incubation Network
initiative, a project of the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC). How can a
community replenish and support the workforce without reconstituting manufacturing? Shanahan said
The best approach to sustaining the local economy was to help our entrepreneurs commercialize good
ideas. Since their conception in 2007,

Competent Nursing Care And The Russian Culture Essay
Competent Nursing Care and the Russian Culture
In order to provide competent nursing care, one must be conscious of the significant values, beliefs
and practices of the culture. In the following paragraphs, we will examine these aspects as they relate
to the Russian culture.
About the Patient
N.G. was a 43 year old Russian female who was admitted to Palomar s Downtown Behavioral Unit
(BHU) on Monday 10/10/16. The patient s reason for admission was that she was brought in by the
San Diego Police Department on a 5150. She was being held on a 72 hour psychiatric hold for being a
danger to others where she was making threats to hurt her mom. She has had a long history of
treatment for her Schizophrenia that she was diagnosed with as a child. When she arrived to the BHU
she had symptoms of a mood disturbances, including decreased sleep, increased energy, agitation,
anxiety, and aggression.
Cultural View s on Mental Illness
In common with many other countries across the world, mental illness is stigmatized in Russia. Rates
of mental illness are high in Russia. There was some kind of shame if you have someone ill in your
family. In the days of communism, people who were diagnosed as mentally ill were locked up in
psychiatric hospitals and denied contact with the outside world. Mental health has traditionally been a
low priority within the Russian health system. There services are predominantly funded through the
government s budget rather than the populations need, or the problem

Michael Shaara – Chapter Summary
July 2, 1863, first starts with the chaptered named Fremantle, an English trader that came across the
confederate army. Fremantle is very traditional when it comes to the English society and really likes to
be apart of the army but really doesn t understand what is happening. As I first started reading page
155 I immediately made a self connection. Fremantle states he could sense the red battle forming
today, coming like the sun. His senses shocked him awake. I can relate this to my own life. When a big
event is coming up sleeping doesn t come easy and my excitement and anxiousness wakes me up. I
could only imagine how he is feeling to watch another battle. One reason I do enjoy this book is that it
is still fiction but Michael Shaara adds comical conversation between ... Show more content on

This showed a softer side of chamberlain I haven t seen often. One thing I like about Michael Shaara
writing is how descriptive she is for example the red eyes looked up out of the vast of darkness 168
this painted a picture in my head of how weak and powerless that poor man laid there and it made my
emotions come out. One part I found interesting is on page179 Kilrain says This is what it s all about
referring to slavery. This surprised me because south did not believe slavery was the issue of the war.
To me chapter 4 one of the climax of the novel with the battle beginning. It was smart for chamberlain
to tell his men to hold their place so the union army couldn t attack them from the back. Holding their
line also showed toughness and showed they wouldn t back down from the challenges of war. In
chapter 5 I felt bad for Longstreet for being blamed for the defeat that day even though it was Lee s
order to attack. no one would ever blame him because of his position above everyone. It s like getting
made at the messenger, not the man who sent the

In Cold Blood
Truman Capote s non fiction novel, In Cold Blood, was a breakthrough in literacy in that it was
accredited as the first non fiction novel. There was a lot of controversy when the book was first
published because of the incredibility of the work. This could be expected in that time, because people
where not familiar with the concept of non fiction novels yet, but this is where the beauty of this style
of writing lies, the recreation of the truth. It would have been impossible for Capote to have
documented the occurrence fully, because he only read about the murder after it had happen, after all,
this was not what he wanted to do. Capote got a lot of criticism for the book, because of him bending
the truth, putting in scenes that never ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The true art of the non fiction novel is the missing information that is filled in by the author. Capote
does a good job of recreating what had happened before the murders took place. He had a subjective
view of Holcomb in the introduction, but he describes it skillfully, trying to bring out the contrast of
the quiet small town and the events that were going to take place there. With the extensive research
that was done by Capote, he could formulate a good picture of what had happened before the murder.
He uses a technique where he splits the story in two, and then moving from one scene with the Clutter
family, too the murderers, Dick and Perry and then later between the murderers and the investigating
detectives. This allows the reader to constantly be aware of what was taking place and when it had
happened. Capote also uses it to create more suspense in the story, leaving you after every scene
wanting to know more. Capote used a third person, omniscient point of view in writing the non fiction
novel. This allowed him to convey the thoughts of some of the characters, allowing the reader to be
inside the characters mind, experiencing the emotional reality of each scene. This is what makes it a
non fiction novel, the story that was formed by adding little bits of information created by the

The Future Of Biotechnology Through The Hands Of Innovation
The future of biotechnology lies in the hands of innovation. The seed industry is a primary example of
how utilization of innovation can globalize any business. Innovation does not come easy; it requires
the right people and environment to prosper. This environment is fostered through the organizational
culture of the business. Being able to manage this culture becomes a greater challenge as a business
becomes globalized. Collaboration amongst people of different backgrounds, cultures, and beliefs can
be a daunting charge, but has been shown to increase innovation productivity. Increasing innovation in
seed biotechnology companies are promoted through the company s clearly defined philosophy that
enables culturally diverse people to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ideas and concepts communicated through various teams are progressive stepping stones towards
change, which can unleash the full potential of creativity (213). It is not a wild stream of ideas that
will help innovation move forward, but rather a very well focused concept. Creating a clear and
concise system allows people to truly focus on innovations that are aligned with the organization s
objectives and reduces the energy and time spent on incoherent ideas.
In order to produce sustainable innovation a company needs to create a culture that will bring forth
new ideas. Culture can be defined as a set of unwritten rules, shared beliefs, and mental models of
people (236). This culture needs to harness creativity and renew the company by focusing on things
that make it successful, conserving best practices that exist, and ensuring innovation investments are
being well used while allowing employees the freedom to innovate. In a discussion paper written by
Ceren Ozgen, Peter Nijkamp, and Jacques Poot, The Impact of Cultural Diversity on Innovation:
Evidence from Dutch Firm Level Data, they concluded that firms open to change nurture creativeness
and are more prone to innovation. Businesses that develop this type of culture are more apt to
implement new products and process innovations (17).

The Usefulness Of Viral Vectors
The Usefulness of Viral Vectors in Treating Dravet Syndrome
Voltage gated sodium channels initiate the development action potentials in neurons; mutations of
genes encoding these channels are responsible for genetic epilepsy syndromes with varying degrees of
severity1. Dravet syndrome, or severe myoclonic epilepsy of infancy (SMEI), is a complex and severe
form of childhood epilepsy, caused by a nonsense mutation in the sodium voltage gated channel alpha
subunit 1 (SCN1a) gene. Severe loss of function mutation in Nav1.1 causes SMEI, which involves
intractable epilepsy, ataxia, and cognitive impairment 1. It is important to study this disease because of
its early mortality in children and because of its high resistance to drug therapy 2. ... Show more

Adeno associated viral vectors (AAV):
Adeno associated viral vectors are non enveloped single stranded DNA viruses used in treating
diseases of the central nervous system 3. AAV vectors have been widely used in clinical trials to
deliver therapeutic genes to mutated ones, and are efficient and safe in vivo application3. However
one major drawback is the limited packaging capacity for genes with larger sizes 3. Fortunately, this
can be overcome with the treatment of the dystrophin gene (DMD), which encodes the cohesive
protein dystrophin that supports the cytoskeleton of a cell3. There are two methods can be used with
AAV vectors to decrease the duration of epilepsy: inducing somatostatin into AAV vectors and direct
injection of glial targeting AAV vectors.
Method 1:
Somatostatin (SST) is a neuromodulator known to have diverse functions in sleep and motor activity
and it plays a putative anticonvulsant role, such as in maintaining hippocampal homeostasis4. Some
studies have suggested that AAV vector mediated expression of SST suppresses hippocampus related
seizure development in rats4. Viral vector gene therapy using SST as an anti seizure related
neuropeptide in a kindling model of epilepsy was implemented, where over successive electrical
stimulation of the same intensity, seizures evolve from partial to generalized states 4. The duration of
seizures was lower for the vector infused with SST (pAAV CBa SST), than compared to the vector
that was

A Plan For A University Facilities Project Manager
INTRODUCTION Teams, as discussed this semester, referred to individuals at one firm brought
together to, for example, complete a project, develop a new product, or define a new process.
However, I as a university facilities project manager, have a different sort of team; one consisting of
individuals from different firms brought together to complete a building project. How might the
principles of team building be utilized in my team consisting of end user group (who will occupy the
building), facilities operations staff, architect, and contractor or construction manager?
The construction industry has utilized a concept called partnering on large projects with the goal of
creating a cooperative environment to minimize conflicts which could result in claims or litigation
(GSA 2016). It is hoped to achieve this goal by creating an environment of trust and open
communication among the participants. Caltrans is a strong advocate of partnering; requiring the
process on all projects over $10 million (Caltrans 2013). They have an admirable field guide and
partnering training program. We also have PMI s Project Management Book of Knowledge providing
guidance in developing a project management plan (PMP). The PMP documents much of what is
covered in partnering sessions. Yet in reviewing the Caltrans field guide, creating PMPs, reading
partnering articles, and participating in partnering sessions myself; the process is missing something.
That missing piece is true team

Examples Of Phony In Catcher In The Rye
Holden Caulfield loves to call people phonies. In fact, he uses the word phony 35 times throughout the
book, The Catcher in the Rye. A phony, by definition, means not genuine, or fraudulent, however,
Holden s version of it is much different. Holden uses the word phony so much in order to help himself
understand the world and people around him. He has to put everyone into a category of personalities,
and phony is one of those categories. He repeatedly calls Stradlater, his roommate at Pencey, a big
phony, but Holden Caulfield fails to realize the fact that he is the biggest phony in the book. Holden
firmly believes that Stradlater is a huge phony because of his personality and his actions, even though
the examples he uses to show this are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For instance, when Holden said, Then, just to show you how crazy I am, when we were coming out of
this big clinch, I told her I loved her and all. It was a lie, of course, but the thing is, I meant it when I
said it. I m crazy. I swear to God I am, he goes against everything he has said throughout the book. In
the book, Holden constantly states how other people don t understand the world and how he hates
people who live in a sea of lies. Until this point in the book, his view had been set in stone with the
many examples he presented for the reader. Nonetheless, after this quote, he presents to us the
towering reason for his own phoniness, the fact that he is not fully sane. This changes everything for
the reader because it shows that everything he has said in the book could have been a lie to cover up a
secret. On top of this epiphany, he also states that he lied about loving Sally in the very same quote.
This lie is another prime example of Holden being a phony and not being truthful. All in all, for the
whole book Holden calls people phonies, but even while writing his own book, he uncovers the hard
truth of his own

Discuss The Differences Between The Chesapeake And New...
Starting in the 1600 s, the English began immigrating to the New World. While the settlers from both
the Chesapeake and New England colonies were originally exposed to the same religion within the
Anglican Church, as well as primarily the same intention within the government system, the colonies
differed in how they would manage their societies once they were settled in the New World. The
Northern New England areas economy was built upon rocks. Their soil was very rocky, farming was
much harder than in chesapeake. The people who settled in this colony were families not single white
men who were to be indentured slaves. These factors created the New England colonies. As far as the
social aspect of the two colonies, there were significant differences in how the colonies were
populated. New England came over with big families which they would use to begin small
communities. The relationships that were already built between these settlers would go to benefit them
and provide the means to creating the society in an organized and well thought out manner. When you
are able to develop and rely on ones you trust making a wholesome community becomes easier, the
supplies, the labor needed to be done and issues that need to be dealt with come at a faster pass with a
trusted group of people (doc 1). The Ships List of Emigrants Bound for New England, 1635, lists
families who boarded the ships, giving the relation and age of each member (doc 2). Within these

Monteverdi, Vivaldi, Pachelbel, And Handel
There are three big periods of music. These periods are Baroque, Classical, and Romantic. In these
periods there were several different composers who helped shape that period. Here are but a few in
each of the period.
In the Baroque period, some composers are Vivaldi, Monteverdi, Pachelbel, and Handel. There, of
course, are much more as these are just four composers. First, Vivaldi, his full name is Antonio Lucio
Vivaldi. Vivaldi was born in 1678 and grew to be an Italian violinist and a composer. He was born
with angina pectoris or chest pain due to heart disease caused by his heart not gaining enough oxygen,
he was also born with asthma. Due to these conditions, he was known for running out of the church,

By the time Claudio was in his teens, he had already published several religious and secular music, but
his music took a turn when he was employed by the Duke of Mantua. There he would meet Giaches
De Wert who changed his music drastically. The change puts his music in a whole new direction.
Monteverdi will later die in the year 1643.
The last composer mentioned is Handel. Handel was a German composer who was born in 1685 and
later became an English citizen in his later years. In Handel s younger years his father did not wish for
him to go into music due to thinking it would not create him enough money. Handel s mother did
approve through and helped him to study in secret. When Handel got older he would later, please his
father by going to school to become a lawyer but later dropping out to pursue music, his passion.
Handel suffered through several problems throughout the years. He struggled with anxiety and
depression. He also suffered two strokes within the same year. Both of which he made a shockingly
quick recovery. Also in his later years, he ended up losing sight in his left eye but that did not stop him
as he continued to compose. Two years after losing sight in his left eye, he lost sight in his right eye.
Despite being completely blind, he continued to compose depending on his memory of the notes to
compose.
In the Classical period, some composers are Haydn, Boccherini, Mozart, and Hummel. There, of
course, are much more as these are just four composers.

In the bible it tells us this, When man began to multiply on the face of the land and daughters were
born to them, the sons of God saw that the daughters of man were attractive. And they took as their
wives any they chose. Then the Lord said, My Spirit shall not abide in man forever, for he is flesh: his
days shall be 120 years. The Nephilim were on the earth in those days, and also afterward, when the
sons of God came in to the daughters of man and they bore children to them. These were the mighty
men who were of old, the men of renown (Genesis,6). This is where the Lord talks about the
Nephilim, they were hybrids, half human and half demon. When Satan was casted down to Earth, his
followers were thrown down with him. They then mixed their DNA with the DNA of a human,
creating what is known as the Nephilim. And there was again war at Gath, where there was a man of

he also was descended from the giants (2 Samuel,21:20). This is where we see great strength of this

Petruchio In Taming Of The Shrew
In the play, Taming of the Shrew, we experienced a glimpse of stereotypical life in Shakespearean
time with male dominance and expectations. The play introduced us with the main characters
Petruchio, Kate, Bianca, Baptista, Lucentio, and Hortensio. Petruchio came to Padua to marry the
shrew of the city Kate. As the story progresses, we notice how Petruchio tries to tame the shrew by
himself being a much greater shrew. Petruchio would always have to be the correct one when it came
to a discussion with Kate, even when he was obviously incorrect. Given all what the play has shown
us, we can say that Petruchio is the real shrew in the play and Kate is just a regular girl. During the

South Dakota Financing Case Study
In the financing market, there is an important need to balance the powers between lenders and
borrowers. In this market, the borrowers are in a relatively weak position to negotiate the interest rates
of their loans, being the party in need. Lenders, in accordance to the law of supply and demand, can
strategically withhold money supply to increase demand and interest rates. Historically, government
regulators ensured, through usury laws, that consumers were protected against financial predators
(Bowsher, 1974). However, the current trend in the financing market has moved steadily towards
loosening the usury laws and allowing the markets to dictate interest rates. This paper will attempt to
understand this trend through a series of six questions and answers.
1. What is the main purpose of the usury law? Short answer: The main purpose of the usury law is to

Why did South Dakota decide to eliminate the cap on interest rates? Short answer: South Dakota
decided to eliminate the cap on interest rates because it is not keeping up with the increasing costs of
money and the interest cap in the state is lower than the national interest rate. In 1979, the 9 percent
range mortgage loan rates had been increasing to 9.75 percent. Short term rates moved up faster
(Hajek, 2004). However, the lending rates, capped by usury laws, were trailing the rapidly rising
money costs nationwide. This is the time when the Federal Reserve Regulation Q had been phasing
out and Chairman Paul Volcker decided to let the rates float on supply and demand forces. The South
Dakota Bankers Association Legislative Committee (SDBALC) believed that eliminating the lending
rate cap would let it loose to keep up with the increasing money costs. The approach was not to
remove the usury law (a complex legislative move), but to gain exemption from the usury law for
regulated institutions (e.g.

Rembrandt Van Rijn, Jacques Louis David, And Francisco Goya
Critique of Rembrandt van Rijn, Jacques Louis David, and Francisco Goya
Rembrandt van Rijn was a great Dutch painter and printmaker who worked during the 1600s. During
his life the Netherlands was in a period of great achievement, particularly for artists. Because of this
Rembrandt was able to amass a great amount of fame and fortune in his early life as his art was in
demand. Unfortunately, later in his life personal tragedy threw him into poverty. In 1656 he was
forced to declare bankruptcy and his collection of artwork was auctioned off. (Rembrandt van Rijn:

highly on dramatic scenes from the Christian faith. David was the most heavily inspired by Roman
mythology, and used the stories to make political statements about the world around him. By Goya s

Essay On Energy Power System
Introduction (why)
Historically, loads were variable but predictable, generation was dispatchable and there was no
significant amount of bulk energy storage in the power system. However, nowadays, numerous recent
reports and studies [1, 2] have discussed significant changes going on in the electric power system.
These changes include the growth in the use of renewable energy resources in the bulk power system,
proliferation of distributed energy resources (DER), an increasing number of installations of local
renewable resources at end use points and energy storage maturing into a viable grid scale resource.
These transformations have an important impact in the planning and operation of the modern grid.
The growth in the use of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The projections of the usage of electric vehicles, as well as the projections for renewable sources,
show that there would be an increasing number of people using electric vehicles in the near future [3].
In order to avoid problems related to high peaks of demands due to simultaneous charging of batteries,
usually in the evenings after work, it would be necessary to manage their charging through the use of
smart charging technology.
Other factors identified in [4] can be classified into three general categories, in declining order of
importance, which are 1) grid operations, which includes AMR (Automatic Meter Reader) and AMI
(Advanced Metering Infrastructure) deployment, microgrids, and the presence of advanced
communications and control technologies, 2) customer engagement, as reflected in dynamic pricing
tariffs and other paths for active customer interaction, and 3) state support, as evidenced by incentives
or mandates that support grid modernization activities.
Taking into account the issues explained before, it is needed simultaneous solutions to avoid elements
to interact in ways that can be detrimental if they are not addressed properly. The new objectives
proposed by GridWise Architecture Council in [5] related to the emerging trends discussed above are
the following:
Wholesale prices and production costs minimization.
Provision of ancillary services, ramping and balancing (especially in light of

Coyote, Skunk, and the Prairie Dogs
Coyote, Skunk, and the Prairie Dogs
While I find it rather creative to imagine a skunk and a coyote to conspire together to murder prairie
dogs and rabbits, and although I feel I am doing a disservice to hundreds of years of Navaho
storytellers, I am going to attempt to creatively edit parts of the story Coyote, Skunk, and Prairie Dogs
as a written works, and retool it so that it makes more sense as a modern children s fairy tale. Not that
children would be interested in a story about killing and eating prairie dogs, but I am going to attempt
to keep the plot, storyline and outcome as similar to the Navaho trickster tale as possible.

Introduction Of The Cross Border Shopping
Cross Border Shopping
Introduction
Emergence of revolution in the world led to globalization. Hitherto, people gain from the massive and
healthy business trades across the borders. In this case, one country is able to gain from selling or
buying of goods. At some point, countries realized the importance of creating a global trading arena to
encourage the producers from all nations. In this regard, people enjoyed from some exemptions that
interfered with flow of goods and service across borders. Despite the vast advantage that parties enjoy
in this kind of trade, they face various hurdles, which demoralize them as they perform their business
transactions. For instance, changes in the economic status in one of the countries result in reduction in
value of goods. Likewise, some traders may suffer due to high rates of taxation in the bordering
countries.
Understanding the concept of cross border shopping
The presence of competition in the indirect tax within the export and import zones leads to the
creation of horizontal tax externalities. Vertical tax externalities may also arise between the central and
regional government. In most of the cases, both countries tend to maximize revenue through tax
collection through purchasing and selling of goods. One party may therefore set policies that aim at in
increasing tax collection (Lucas 369). Likewise, the government may also balance the availability of
imports in the country by employing certain regulations that minimizes their

Persuasive Essay On Vegetarians
I ve been a carnivore my entire life, and I am here to say that I am appalled by you who think that it is
okay to contribute to the violent deaths of so many of God s peaceful, biotic organisms. I am ashamed
of the lack of compassion you exhibit towards your eating habits, you are systematically committing
mass murder and you do not feel a single sense of guilt. Every year, billions of the victims are put
through unbelievable amounts of pain and trauma to a degree that would shock even the worst
criminals. Who are these murderers, you ask? They are the vegetarians.
Vegetarians: You believe that all sentient beings are entitled to life and freedom. And yes, we would
much prefer to watch a video of someone cutting an apple than slitting the neck of a pig. This is
because you do not believe a vegetable is capable of emotions as they do not possess brains nor a
nervous system. Well, if that is the case; how did the scarecrow in The Wizard of Oz manage to stay
alive? He didn t have a brain, yet he could still feel enough sadness to cry about it. A Sea sponge is
considered an animal yet it also does not possess nerves or a brain. Plants can actually do a lot of
things that we would consider animalistic. For example, they do move, if only at a pace that can only
be viewed via time lapse. They also thrive, becoming more vibrant and growing at a hastened rate,
when in the presence of a close relative. This is a sophisticated level of behaviour that some animals

The City Of Detroit
As a critic interacting with this thing I deduce that it reflects my values and aspirations as a designer
because as stated in my ethos, it challenges the viewers to reflect and to act upon them. It allows for
individuals to think about what object creates meaning in their lives by seeing examples provided by
my work. The Heildberg project was created using artifacts that contributed to the history and value of
the city of Detroit. My project also allows for individuals to explore their creativity and encourage a
stronger connection of the community.
The first of these two things was designed by me during the winter term of my second year at
Concordia University, in response to an assignment for PK Langshaw s 392 course. I devoted two
months to it, from February to April of 2015. This was a group project in which I worked with Alexa
Piotte, Francis Leclerc Charron, Joey C. Gravel and Katherine Rudge. As a group, we were asked to
create a product that we would sell at a fundraiser to raise money for the homeless. This product also
had to reflect the ideas behind homelessness. The question raised on this issue was how can we as
design students prevent people from simply ignoring the homeless? As a result, we wanted to create a
pouch that would allow the users to think about the homeless and to help spread the word. For the
second phase of our project, we wanted to volunteer and engage in a more interactive experience,

A Documentary On Food, Inc.
Agricultural Misconceptions Body mass index, or BMI, is used by doctors and health physicians to
measure excessively high levels of body fat in relation to lean body mass in an individual. Having a
BMI ratio that is considered above average or too high normally denotes persons at risk to several
health adversities such as heart attacks, liver damage, diabetes, and even more widespread, obesity. In
2005, the United States Department of Health and Human Services estimated that over half of the
adult American population was either overweight or obese, and many of these health concerns were
correlated with a person s diet and type of food consumption. In an attempt to assign blame for the
cause, political and social commentators claim that long standing farm subsidies on particular food
commodities correlate with rising obesity trends in America. In a documentary titled Food, Inc.,
opened to audience in 2008, award winning filmmaker Robert Kenner argues that current agricultural
policies on these subsidized food commodities are allowing major food corporations to mass produce
products that negatively affect the health of consumers nationwide. He contends that commodity crops
such as corn, wheat, and soybeans are heavily subsidized by the government to produce snack foods
that are high in calorie content but low in cost, becoming the prime choice for Americans looking for
cheap and readily available foods to eat. Kenner believes that government subsidies need to either be

Mortal Man Poem
Long ago there was a mortal man in love with the daughter of a water god; however, the water god did
not approve of the mortal man. He was angry with the mortal for wishing to take his daughter and
marry her. To keep the mortal man and his daughter apart, the god created a long, tall hill that
stretched from horizon to horizon.. There were no dips, and it was impossible to climb.
It seemed hopeless, but the mortal man was clever. He would stop at nothing to reach his love, so he
started to dig. The man dug and dug, creating long tunnels through the hill. There were many tunnels
because the man would reach a place he could no longer dig, and the wide expanse of hill was
confusing. Soon, dirt and rock piled up around the hill, creating slopes. It took years to finally dig
through the hill to the other side. One he was through, the mortal man almost fell and started crying.

Analysis Of Do The Right Thing
There are many films in this world that tackle the topic of race. It is an unfortunate truth that leads to
many options when choosing a film to show to the students of Coe College. With a large majority of
the students at Coe being white, choosing a film that addresses the themes of racism in the 20th
century is something that can be a sensitive subject. It is the reason that a film that addresses tension
among different race on a block in Bed Sty is the most appropriate for the audience at Coe College.
The film Do The Right Thing, directed by Spike Lee, challenges the characters in the film, along with
the audience viewing the film to form opinions on sensitive subjects and to do the right thing in a
difficult situation.Spike Lee uses the film, Do The Right Thing, to address racial tension in the 20th
century through his use of color, camera framing and narrative. One of the most striking scenes begins
in the first forty minutes of the film. The scene starts off with the music becoming slow and haunting,
a difference from the high beat music that was playing before, while a police car slowly drives down
the street in the neighborhood of mostly people of color. The camera then cuts to the three black men
who sit on the corner, Sweet Dick Willie, Coconut Sid, and ML. The camera pans across the three
faces, all showing critical glares at the police car. The policeman in the passenger seat is then shown,
displaying a similar glare to the black men. The tension can be felt in

Literary Analysis Of Desiree s Baby
Single Element Desiree s Baby Kate Chopin s Desiree s Baby is the story of an abandoned child by
the name of Desiree; adopted and brought up by Madame Valmont in the countryside of Louisiana.
She later grows up, conceives a child, and marries her childhood sweetheart Armand, with the
intention of giving her the perfect family she failed to receive. The two are profoundly in love, and
continue to flourish in happiness until one day something changes. With suspicion and curiosity
towards the race of the baby and Desiree, Armand suddenly becomes distant from the two; portraying
an unpleasant attitude towards her and his slaves. Unwanted, Desiree disappears with the child, and is
never seen again. One day while burning old memories of his former spouse, Armand will be
conflicted with a shocking discovery that leaves the reader in awe. This amazing story reveals how the
power of judgement, and uncertainty can ironically come back to haunt you in the end. There are
many examples of language given from the author that helps the reader achieve a certain
understanding on the specific parts in the story. The narrator reads from the third person omniscient
point of view, and greatly describes the events leading up to the tragedy of what once was filled with
pure joy. With the ability to unfold the thoughts of the omniscient view, the reader is able to analyze
true emotions from the central and supporting characters that later can be identified as a specific type

The following are all reasons why war broke out in September 1939:
(i) the invasion of Polandby Germany
(ii) the signing of the Nazi Soviet Pact
(iii) Britain s policy of appeasement.
Which of (i), (ii) and (iii) do you think was the most important? Explain your answer.
In September of 1939, World War II broke out.
There were three main reasons for the outbreak of war.
When Germany invaded Poland, Britain and France finally had to do something as they had signed an
alliance with Poland on 25 August 1939. This time they couldn t back down in the face of Nazi
aggression. Had they done so, this would have signalled to the rest of the world that they could no
longer be regarded as world powers.
The invasion of Poland became inevitable as soon as the Germans and Russians signed the Nazi
Soviet Pact as they had agreed to carve up Poland between themselves.
Ultimately, Britain s policy of appeasement had encouraged war and had made Hitler think no one
would dare stop him. By never standing up to him he was always prepared to go further as he
demonstrated by signing the Nazi Soviet pact and invading Poland.
I believe it was a combination of long term and short term factors

Thomas Aquinas Point Of View On Religion
Thomas Aquinas is one of the most notable philosophers whose works have been used as reference
materials by people across different generations. His theological perspectives stressed the influences
created by Aristotle. According to Aquinas, religion and faith remain intertwined in the logic. Thomas
Aquinas believed that faith and reason are the same. Therefore, his concept of the Bible and the
Church differ from other scholars who stressed the significance of religion. The voice of reason has
been echoed from one generation of philosophers to the other. Several religious figures considered the
concepts shared by Aquinas from an extremist point of view. They believed that Aquinas like Aristotle
diverted people from religious aspects by focusing on faith solely. Aquinas work, the Summa
Theologica is the basis of the discussion. The Summa Theologica establishes that Christianity is a
religion yet faith is an element that people should address from an enlightened point of view. The five
volume document establishes that reason or logic often inform the actions of certain Christians. Since
philosophy concerns inquisitiveness, people should not be afraid to question the things they doubt
about religion . From Aquinas point of view, people should always listen to the opposing point of view
when talking about Christianity. The philosopher established that one of the things he questions about
Christianity is the concept of I answer. In essence, an authoritative figure

To become a prosecutor, one must have gone through law school and passed the state bar exam. Law
school may sound intimidating, but that is one of the first steps to entering into the world of law.
Unlike most professions a bachelor s degree is required before entering law school. When getting the
bachelor s an assortment of options are at play. A degree in political science, English, or philosophy is
probably one s best options when choosing a degree. This will take about four years to complete.
Following one s bachelor s degree is passing the LSAT. LSAT stands for Law School Admissions Test,
and this test needs to be taken before applying to a good law school like Georgetown, Stanford, or
Harvard. Seven years of one s life goes into getting the proper education leading to them being a
criminal prosecutor, not including training for the job. After about seven years of a future criminal
prosecutor s life one still has to interview for the job and to be a prosecutor one must meet the
requirements. One of the requirements is the ability to talk in front of some people and able to
possibly interview witnesses on their witness list. Going back to work hours, being on call is immense
because at any time one might be called to get a subpoena or warrant. A warrant is a written issue to

Romania Research Paper
Romania is not a very well known country, but is very interesting. It is based makes most of its money
on agricultural produce. It also has a pretty high GDP per capita, so the Standard of living is better
than a lot of other countries. Romania imports lots of manufactured goods because they don t have all
of the correct resources to manufacture as much as the United States. The geography of Romania is
very interesting. The capital is Bucharest, Romania. The exact location of Romania is 45°N, 25°E.
Romania is also the largest nation in the Balkan Peninsula (Herff 134 135). The nation is in
southeastern Europe, bordering Bulgaria, Serbia, Hungary, Ukraine, and Moldova. It has several

The official language is Romanian but Hungarian and German are also spoken. More than 80% of the
population in Romania belongs to the Romanian Orthodox Church (Romania CLIO) One holiday that
they celebrate is called National Day. When Romania first gained its independence in 1878, but
without owning Transylvania. On December 1, 1918, the Romanian government issued a law that they
would now own Transylvania. Romanians have honored this historic event since the death of Nicolae
Ceausescu s Communist government in 1990. Businesses close for the day, and there are military
parades and public speeches. Another important day is kind of a hard one, Sărbătoarea Blajinilor (Fast
of the Blajini). Sărbătoarea Blajinilor is the second Monday after Easter is a folk holiday. According to
legend, the Blajini are a kindly, innocent creatures who live in a fairyland on the banks of a river that
is fed by all the rivers in the world. On the second Monday after Easter, women throw red eggshells
on running streams in hopes that they will reach the Blajini and remind them that it is time to celebrate
the Easter feast. Romanian food is very healthy and to them it is simple. The main meal of the day is
lunchtime. The usual schedule is soup, then the main course, and dessert. Romanian soups are often
made with sour cream, whether they are based on beans and bacon, meatballs, chicken, cabbage, root
vegetables with a little vinegar, or tripe with a hot green pepper on the side. Everyday main courses
include pork or veal, served roasted, usually accompanied by a vegetable. A Romanian specialty is
sarmale, or spiced meat, rice, and onions wrapped in cabbage or grape leaves (Romania CLIO).
Centuries of rule by outsiders led Romanians to concentrate on such folk arts as wood carving,
pottery, weaving, and embroidery. The culture is very interesting and very

Racism in American History X
Racism in American History X Get the fuck out of my house! exclaims Derek as he pulls down his
wife beater to reveal a swastika tattoo, See this? That means not welcome. American History X,
directed by Tony Kaye, is a movie about the transformation of Derek Vinyard: a young neo Nazi
skinhead. Derek s father, Dennis Vinyard, was a middle class fireman who disagreed with many of the
ideological changes such as affirmative black action happening in America at the time. His father died
while trying to put out a fire in a minority community. Derek essentially put the blame on the
minorities for his father s death as he says in the news interview: Decent hard working Americans like
my dad are getting rubbed out by these social ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
And Murray also adds that the statistic could also be due to a large amount of prejudice in the justice
system towards race. For instance Derek s black friend in jail was accused of assault and sentenced to
six years because he dropped a stolen TV on the policeman s foot. Derek oversimplifies the issue by
presenting two reasons and fails to acknowledge any of the underlying factors that may be in play to
produce the statistic.
Finally, near the end of the conversation Derek uses the red herring fallacy to further support his
radical view. If Rodney King had been driving along, hopped up on Chivas Regal and PCP and had
killed Danny, you d be singing a very different tune about the force of those cops. In order to prove his
point that King deserved the beating for what he had done, Derek presents the situation in a totally
different light. Derek immediately shifts the discussion to something emotional (the death of his
brother Danny) and the possibility of King hitting into someone during his high speed chase is totally
off topic because he didn t in fact hit anybody. In doing so he uses appeal to fear to commit the fallacy
of red herring.
Derek s blatant racism against the struggling black man is shown throughout this scene. Derek refers
to King as a monkey twice, which displays his obvious lack of respect towards other races. Derek s
strong racial prejudice is obvious towards the end when he

My Little Pony Art Of World War II
This soldier s statements carry merit as there were a number of World War 2 military planes adorned
with images of Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck ready for battle. Even in the Brony fandom there
exists a large a cache of military inspired My Little Pony art located on websites like DeviantArt
portraying ponies military garb. There has even been an Air Force squadron which adopted a
redesigned My Little Pony logo as their unit patch. Other soldiers defend their position as a Brony by
expressing the need for people to have a need to get away from the stresses of life. They feel as though
there is a distinction between the service they provide and activities they engage in during duty hours:
Even if the main interest in MLP was escapism, all media is essentially escapism, whether it s the rich
rapper, the football star, or the action movie hero. Everyone to some extent lives vicariously through
the entertainment they consume. At least this show let s [sic] the audience escape to a world where
integrity, loyalty, and kindness is exalted, rather than violence, cynicism, and overt sexuality.
Part of what this soldier sees in Schlicter s argument is the interpretation of the off duty hours
activities. Engaging in a media text like My Little Pony does not take away from the job they do. It is
simply a portion of their life that only appears contradictory because it competes with the image of
military soldier presented in mainstream media and this soldier feels the message

Post Secondary Education For The United States
Post secondary education in the United States is often viewed as a necessary step towards financial
security mostly for those who take part in it. The introduction of the GI Bill in the year 1944 labeled
the post secondary education as a larger part of the American dream because it acted as a ticket
towards economic security. Today, approximately 20 million students in the United States are in
pursuit of a bachelor s degree, masters, or any other type of higher level education such as
certifications and specialized courses (Friss, 2012). This elevated number of students interested in
becoming educated denotes that the cost of advanced education has and will simultaneously continue
to increase. Therefore, this fact has its pros and cons depending on the career of choice and especially
depending on how much one receives in return once entered the workforce. Students in America
pursue post secondary education for a diversity of motives. Most do it for economic stability and
consequently tend to develop a profession for the sake of earning an income as their primary goal.
Comfortable living accompanies such motive, action which leads individuals to wish to obtain a
substantial life where they may enjoy financial freedom. Some students look for a broad, liberal arts
education, while others become focused on a specific career. However, there are students who simply
enroll to take one or two classes for the joy of learning and/or keeping up with their skills. Great

Utilitarianism, Utilitarianism And Rule Utilitarianism
There are several theories that try to explain the morality of the actions; however, two stand out. the
first is deontology, and the other one is utilitarianism. The former follow the idea that the
consequences of you action hold no importance in what we ought to do. But rather, some actions are
morally wrong or good by itself. The latter follows an opposite view in which the consequences of an
action are what it makes an action moral. Specially, if that action produce the greatest happiness over
unhappiness. In this essay I will focus on two Utilitarianism ramifications, act utilitarianism and rule
utilitarianism. They both agree that consequences must be the greatest factor in deciding what we
ought to do. Nonetheless they have one big difference. Rule Utilitarianism generalize acts and recreate
the consequences of a rule. If the consequences are ultimately favoring, then it is morally right. By
way of contrast, Act Utilitarianism evaluate each action individually, and similar situation would have
different outcomes depending on the situation. There is no universal rule unlike rule utilitarianism. In
order to determine how different, the act and rule utilitarianism are, I will analyze it by applying them
in the following scenario. Let s imagine, you are a doctor in an oncology ward in a major city that is
strapped for financial and material resources. One evening, two patients are admitted to the hospital.
One patient is suffering from a seemingly incurable form of

Argumentative Essay On Marijuana
Marijuana a drug or elixir of good health.
Marijuana is a very controversial topic today. The United States made it illegal in the mid 1920 and
has been illegal ever since until recent times. It has been told that Medical marijuana has many health
benefits and is also proven to help cure some deadly diseases. Using marijuana for medicinal purposes
is not a recent discovery. The use of marijuana dates back nearly 5000 years. Western medicine
embraced its medicinal properties in the mid 1800 s. Physicians have published more than 100 papers
in the western medical literature recommending its use for a variety of disorders (Urena). India is the
world s 2nd largest population with 1.525 billion people unfortunately a lot of them suffer from cancer
and other deadly diseases. In this argumentative essay I am going to link the medicinal benefits of
using marijuana and how it can help the people of India.
Cannabis consumption and production are governed by the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic
Substances Act, 1985. Under this law, the consumption of cannabis could lead to a jail term of six
months or a fine of Rs10,000, Cultivation could lead to a term of 10 years. Though marijuana grows
wild in India. Its possession or use is illegal. Marijuana is widely used in India, so why not legalize it.
Especially if its known for having medical benefits such as treating chronic pain, nausea after
chemotherapy, epilepsy, and symptoms of multiple sclerosis (Balachandran, 2017). India has a huge

Automatic System In The Odyssey
There are two sides from where a person can analyze a certain situation. The right of one person might
be wrong for another. Moreover there the biases can be found in our routine works. Though one is not
aware of them, but they arise. Dr. Spock mind and the Homer mind are having different way of
thinking. There are usually two systems that play very crucial role in people way of doing things.
Automatic System is based over institution, and Reflective System is based over rationality. The
automatic system comes in to use without premeditation. It is automatic and is the reaction of a certain
situation.
There are many people in the world that usually do not know what they are speaking; this might be
intentional or owing to the natural disposition of speaking without analyzing the situation. Mr. Spock
of Star Trek fame is having its reflective system in control. He knows how and what to speak in
certain situations. Mr. Spock is the symbol of respect and assistance. His mind is always calm and
composed. He knows the best course of action in a certain situation. He is the planner who plans
things after taking into consideration all the factors surrounding him. He is a self control person. ...

There is no control over the reflective system. His level of thinking is based over the automatic system
and he speaks and acts in accordance to that. He is the opposite of Mr. Spock. One can find many
people in the world like Mr. Spock who not only think of himself but the general welfare of the
people. His mind is devoted towards the betterment of the people. Those having this level of thinking
are far sighted and worried about others. Moreover the mind of Mr. Spock is also free from any sort of
bias; he thinks openly but rationally. Homers are the opposite of the people like Mr.

  • 4. Michael Shaara – Chapter Summary July 2, 1863, first starts with the chaptered named Fremantle, an English trader that came across the confederate army. Fremantle is very traditional when it comes to the English society and really likes to be apart of the army but really doesn t understand what is happening. As I first started reading page 155 I immediately made a self connection. Fremantle states he could sense the red battle forming today, coming like the sun. His senses shocked him awake. I can relate this to my own life. When a big event is coming up sleeping doesn t come easy and my excitement and anxiousness wakes me up. One part I found interesting is on page179 Kilrain says This is what it s all about referring to slavery. This surprised me because south did not believe slavery was the issue of the war. To me chapter 4 one of the climax of the novel with the battle beginning. It was smart for chamberlain to tell his men to hold their place so the union army couldn t attack them from the back. Holding their line also showed toughness and showed they wouldn t back down from the challenges of war. • 5. In Cold Blood Truman Capote s non fiction novel, In Cold Blood, was a breakthrough in literacy in that it was accredited as the first non fiction novel. There was a lot of controversy when the book was first published because of the incredibility of the work. This could be expected in that time, because people where not familiar with the concept of non fiction novels yet, but this is where the beauty of this style of writing lies, the recreation of the truth. It would have been impossible for Capote to have documented the occurrence fully, because he only read about the murder after it had happen, after all, this was not what he wanted to do. Capote got a lot of criticism for the book, because of him bending the truth, putting in scenes that never ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The true art of the non fiction novel is the missing information that is filled in by the author. Capote does a good job of recreating what had happened before the murders took place. He had a subjective view of Holcomb in the introduction, but he describes it skillfully, trying to bring out the contrast of the quiet small town and the events that were going to take place there. With the extensive research that was done by Capote, he could formulate a good picture of what had happened before the murder. He uses a technique where he splits the story in two, and then moving from one scene with the Clutter family, too the murderers, Dick and Perry and then later between the murderers and the investigating detectives. This allows the reader to constantly be aware of what was taking place and when it had happened. Capote also uses it to create more suspense in the story, leaving you after every scene wanting to know more. Capote used a third person, omniscient point of view in writing the non fiction novel. This allowed him to convey the thoughts of some of the characters, allowing the reader to be inside the characters mind, experiencing the emotional reality of each scene. This is what makes it a non fiction novel, the story that was formed by adding little bits of information created by the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The seed industry is a primary example of how utilization of innovation can globalize any business. Innovation does not come easy; it requires the right people and environment to prosper. This environment is fostered through the organizational culture of the business. Being able to manage this culture becomes a greater challenge as a business becomes globalized. Collaboration amongst people of different backgrounds, cultures, and beliefs can be a daunting charge, but has been shown to increase innovation productivity. Ideas and concepts communicated through various teams are progressive stepping stones towards change, which can unleash the full potential of creativity (213). It is not a wild stream of ideas that will help innovation move forward, but rather a very well focused concept. Creating a clear and concise system allows people to truly focus on innovations that are aligned with the organization s objectives and reduces the energy and time spent on incoherent ideas. In order to produce sustainable innovation a company needs to create a culture that will bring forth new ideas. Culture can be defined as a set of unwritten rules, shared beliefs, and mental models of people (236). This culture needs to harness creativity and renew the company by focusing on things that make it successful, conserving best practices that exist, and ensuring innovation investments are being well used while allowing employees the freedom to innovate. In a discussion paper written by Ceren Ozgen, Peter Nijkamp, and Jacques Poot, The Impact of Cultural Diversity on Innovation: Evidence from Dutch Firm Level Data, they concluded that firms open to change nurture creativeness and are more prone to innovation. The Usefulness Of Viral Vectors The Usefulness of Viral Vectors in Treating Dravet Syndrome Voltage gated sodium channels initiate the development action potentials in neurons; mutations of genes encoding these channels are responsible for genetic epilepsy syndromes with varying degrees of severity1. Dravet syndrome, or severe myoclonic epilepsy of infancy (SMEI), is a complex and severe form of childhood epilepsy, caused by a nonsense mutation in the sodium voltage gated channel alpha subunit 1 (SCN1a) gene. Adeno associated viral vectors (AAV): Adeno associated viral vectors are non enveloped single stranded DNA viruses used in treating diseases of the central nervous system 3. AAV vectors have been widely used in clinical trials to deliver therapeutic genes to mutated ones, and are efficient and safe in vivo application3. However one major drawback is the limited packaging capacity for genes with larger sizes 3. Fortunately, this can be overcome with the treatment of the dystrophin gene (DMD), which encodes the cohesive protein dystrophin that supports the cytoskeleton of a cell3. There are two methods can be used with AAV vectors to decrease the duration of epilepsy: inducing somatostatin into AAV vectors and direct injection of glial targeting AAV vectors. Method 1: Somatostatin (SST) is a neuromodulator known to have diverse functions in sleep and motor activity and it plays a putative anticonvulsant role, such as in maintaining hippocampal homeostasis4. Some studies have suggested that AAV vector mediated expression of SST suppresses hippocampus related seizure development in rats4. Viral vector gene therapy using SST as an anti seizure related neuropeptide in a kindling model of epilepsy was implemented, where over successive electrical stimulation of the same intensity, seizures evolve from partial to generalized states 4. A Plan For A University Facilities Project Manager INTRODUCTION Teams, as discussed this semester, referred to individuals at one firm brought together to, for example, complete a project, develop a new product, or define a new process. However, I as a university facilities project manager, have a different sort of team; one consisting of individuals from different firms brought together to complete a building project. How might the principles of team building be utilized in my team consisting of end user group (who will occupy the building), facilities operations staff, architect, and contractor or construction manager? The construction industry has utilized a concept called partnering on large projects with the goal of creating a cooperative environment to minimize conflicts which could result in claims or litigation (GSA 2016). It is hoped to achieve this goal by creating an environment of trust and open communication among the participants. Caltrans is a strong advocate of partnering; requiring the process on all projects over $10 million (Caltrans 2013). They have an admirable field guide and partnering training program. We also have PMI s Project Management Book of Knowledge providing guidance in developing a project management plan (PMP). The PMP documents much of what is covered in partnering sessions. While the settlers from both the Chesapeake and New England colonies were originally exposed to the same religion within the Anglican Church, as well as primarily the same intention within the government system, the colonies differed in how they would manage their societies once they were settled in the New World. The Northern New England areas economy was built upon rocks. Their soil was very rocky, farming was much harder than in chesapeake. The people who settled in this colony were families not single white men who were to be indentured slaves. These factors created the New England colonies. As far as the social aspect of the two colonies, there were significant differences in how the colonies were populated. In this market, the borrowers are in a relatively weak position to negotiate the interest rates of their loans, being the party in need. Historically, government regulators ensured, through usury laws, that consumers were protected against financial predators (Bowsher, 1974). However, the current trend in the financing market has moved steadily towards loosening the usury laws and allowing the markets to dictate interest rates. In 1979, the 9 percent range mortgage loan rates had been increasing to 9.75 percent. Short term rates moved up faster (Hajek, 2004). However, the lending rates, capped by usury laws, were trailing the rapidly rising money costs nationwide. This is the time when the Federal Reserve Regulation Q had been phasing out and Chairman Paul Volcker decided to let the rates float on supply and demand forces. The South Dakota Bankers Association Legislative Committee (SDBALC) believed that eliminating the lending rate cap would let it loose to keep up with the increasing money costs. Not that children would be interested in a story about killing and eating prairie dogs, but I am going to attempt to keep the plot, storyline and outcome as similar to the Navaho trickster tale as possible. • 25. Introduction Of The Cross Border Shopping Cross Border Shopping Introduction Emergence of revolution in the world led to globalization. Hitherto, people gain from the massive and healthy business trades across the borders. In this case, one country is able to gain from selling or buying of goods. At some point, countries realized the importance of creating a global trading arena to encourage the producers from all nations. In this regard, people enjoyed from some exemptions that interfered with flow of goods and service across borders. Despite the vast advantage that parties enjoy in this kind of trade, they face various hurdles, which demoralize them as they perform their business transactions. For instance, changes in the economic status in one of the countries result in reduction in value of goods. Likewise, some traders may suffer due to high rates of taxation in the bordering countries. Understanding the concept of cross border shopping The presence of competition in the indirect tax within the export and import zones leads to the creation of horizontal tax externalities. Vertical tax externalities may also arise between the central and regional government. In most of the cases, both countries tend to maximize revenue through tax collection through purchasing and selling of goods. One party may therefore set policies that aim at in increasing tax collection (Lucas 369). Likewise, the government may also balance the availability of imports in the country by employing certain regulations that minimizes their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Persuasive Essay On Vegetarians I ve been a carnivore my entire life, and I am here to say that I am appalled by you who think that it is okay to contribute to the violent deaths of so many of God s peaceful, biotic organisms. I am ashamed of the lack of compassion you exhibit towards your eating habits, you are systematically committing mass murder and you do not feel a single sense of guilt. Every year, billions of the victims are put through unbelievable amounts of pain and trauma to a degree that would shock even the worst criminals. Who are these murderers, you ask? They are the vegetarians. Vegetarians: You believe that all sentient beings are entitled to life and freedom. And yes, we would much prefer to watch a video of someone cutting an apple than slitting the neck of a pig. This is because you do not believe a vegetable is capable of emotions as they do not possess brains nor a nervous system. Well, if that is the case; how did the scarecrow in The Wizard of Oz manage to stay alive? He didn t have a brain, yet he could still feel enough sadness to cry about it. A Sea sponge is considered an animal yet it also does not possess nerves or a brain. Plants can actually do a lot of things that we would consider animalistic. For example, they do move, if only at a pace that can only be viewed via time lapse. They also thrive, becoming more vibrant and growing at a hastened rate, when in the presence of a close relative. The City Of Detroit As a critic interacting with this thing I deduce that it reflects my values and aspirations as a designer because as stated in my ethos, it challenges the viewers to reflect and to act upon them. It allows for individuals to think about what object creates meaning in their lives by seeing examples provided by my work. The Heildberg project was created using artifacts that contributed to the history and value of the city of Detroit. My project also allows for individuals to explore their creativity and encourage a stronger connection of the community. The first of these two things was designed by me during the winter term of my second year at Concordia University, in response to an assignment for PK Langshaw s 392 course. I devoted two months to it, from February to April of 2015. This was a group project in which I worked with Alexa Piotte, Francis Leclerc Charron, Joey C. Gravel and Katherine Rudge. As a group, we were asked to create a product that we would sell at a fundraiser to raise money for the homeless. This product also had to reflect the ideas behind homelessness. The question raised on this issue was how can we as design students prevent people from simply ignoring the homeless? As a result, we wanted to create a pouch that would allow the users to think about the homeless and to help spread the word. For the second phase of our project, we wanted to volunteer and engage in a more interactive experience, involving the youths of our age. We decided to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Agricultural Misconceptions Body mass index, or BMI, is used by doctors and health physicians to measure excessively high levels of body fat in relation to lean body mass in an individual. Having a BMI ratio that is considered above average or too high normally denotes persons at risk to several health adversities such as heart attacks, liver damage, diabetes, and even more widespread, obesity. In 2005, the United States Department of Health and Human Services estimated that over half of the adult American population was either overweight or obese, and many of these health concerns were correlated with a person s diet and type of food consumption. In an attempt to assign blame for the cause, political and social commentators claim that long standing farm subsidies on particular food commodities correlate with rising obesity trends in America. In a documentary titled Food, Inc., opened to audience in 2008, award winning filmmaker Robert Kenner argues that current agricultural policies on these subsidized food commodities are allowing major food corporations to mass produce products that negatively affect the health of consumers nationwide. He contends that commodity crops such as corn, wheat, and soybeans are heavily subsidized by the government to produce snack foods that are high in calorie content but low in cost, becoming the prime choice for Americans looking for cheap and readily available foods to eat. • 36. Thomas Aquinas Point Of View On Religion Thomas Aquinas is one of the most notable philosophers whose works have been used as reference materials by people across different generations. His theological perspectives stressed the influences created by Aristotle. According to Aquinas, religion and faith remain intertwined in the logic. Thomas Aquinas believed that faith and reason are the same. Therefore, his concept of the Bible and the Church differ from other scholars who stressed the significance of religion. The voice of reason has been echoed from one generation of philosophers to the other. Several religious figures considered the concepts shared by Aquinas from an extremist point of view. They believed that Aquinas like Aristotle diverted people from religious aspects by focusing on faith solely. Aquinas work, the Summa Theologica is the basis of the discussion. The Summa Theologica establishes that Christianity is a religion yet faith is an element that people should address from an enlightened point of view. The five volume document establishes that reason or logic often inform the actions of certain Christians. Since philosophy concerns inquisitiveness, people should not be afraid to question the things they doubt about religion . From Aquinas point of view, people should always listen to the opposing point of view when talking about Christianity.
