presents a narrative about a recently widowed Duke who talks with an emissary had

In the perspective of Duke, power and wealth were integral in marriage and was

A Worship Service At The Unitarian Church Of
Harrisburg,...
On April 3rd, 2016 I attend a worship service at the Unitarian Church of Harrisburg,
Pennsylvania; the Clover lane branch. Reverend Michael Walker is the interim
minister that led the service. Upon arrival the parking lot was filled with higher
class vehicles, along with some hybrid and eco cars. When entering the sanctuary
the congregation was mostly white in race and mostly male in gender. The
congregation acted to be of higher class or wealthy. The main colors with in the
sanctuary were blue and grey with a very open floor plan. The congregation sits to
face the stage with a giant wall of glass panel windows that give an amazing view
of the outdoors. There is a back drop where the minister stands that seems to be
made out of cinder blocks but was very modern and geometrical in pattern. There
was a front table on the stage that had fresh flowers, a set of human figurines and a
fire torch. The building inside has very sharp linear architecture and was very
modern overall. The ceremonial clothing was not casual for the congregation, but
a little more formal. Men wore suits with or without their jackets and ties and
bowties. The women wore dress or skirts and a few had pants on. The women were
dressed conservatively and the children wore similar things to what their parents
were wearing. The minister wore a navy suit with a grey shirt and a navy tie. He also
wore a shawl over his shoulders that was yellow with a blue and grey design. Before

Throughout gate 42, Mark Baker combines both assumed history and a plethora of
evocative language techniques to recreate the death of his grandmother, Hinda. From

Introduction
Spices, have been around for thousands of years. Spices would be used in food to
flavor it, giving it tastes like spicy or sour. The spices back then would be cherished
as tradeable goods to other countries for a trade of currency, but soon the early
cultures found out that the spices they were trading could be used to prevent food
spoilage. As an antimicrobial, many spices could be helpful to get rid of the bacteria
that can be found on food, or to preserve the food as well. Bacteria can spread from
anywhere, through the air, from the ground, and even from a person s hands right
when food is about to be eaten. There are many spices used to preserve food like
onions, cinnamon, cloves, mustard, rosemary, sage, and black peppers. These kinds of
spices are classified as either strong, medium, or weak because of their inhibitory

In 1977 the Blythe Jaycees donated what was then the Blythe Fairgrounds to the
State of California. The Fairgrounds became the 54th District Agricultural

the family members. Her family and her, helped many people in WWII, and risked
their lives to save other people. They helped other people because the Nazis were
looking for them. The Family were Christians, and would help anyone no mater what.
Early Life
Corrie Ten Boom was born on April 15, 1892, in Haarlem, Netherlands. In her family,
Corrie was the youngest child. She had one brother, Willem, and two sisters, Betsie
and Nollie. Her father was Casper Boom, and was a watchmaker and jeweler.
They lived in the Barteljorisstraat house in Haarlem ( Beje house ). Below was their
fathers watch shop and above they had their rooms. Their house was open to
anyone who needed a place to stay. They would hide jews and dutch underground
workers until they could find another safe house. In Corrie s bedroom she had a
secret hiding place, for up to six people. This was a place for people to go when
security came through the house. And their was an air system that was installed in
the hiding place as well.
Beje Movement
In the Beje movement, Corrie became the leader, who would look for other safe
houses in the country. She would search for Dutch families who were brave
enough to take in people. Most of her life was spent trying to protect, and keep
them hidden from the Nazis. Through her hard work she was able to save over 800

The play takes place in New Orleans, Louisiana. A Streetcar Named Desire is a

Orleans to visit her sister and brother in law, Stella and Stanley Kowalski. Throughout
this play, Williams displays the destruction of Blanche DuBoislife by alcoholism, her

In Mark, Jesus time in his hometown of Nazareth abruptly ends when he decides to
leave town and go to teach in other villages. Luke, however, tells us that Jesus
interactions with the Nazarenes are not yet over. Jesus begins to tell the people

first part of the story, the main character, Captain Delano, struggles with whether or
not to trust a newly encountered ship, the San Dominick, its inhabitants, or its
captain, Benito Cereno. While the novel is third person omniscient, it is clear that

descriptionof the San Dominick. Melville writes in the third person omniscient

What would our lives hold if we live below the poverty line? What would the future
hold? Would we be able to provide even the simplest and most basic human need to

I am quite sure life wouldn t be easy and it would mostly require 100% effort from
us. There are a myriad of question surrounding the lives of those people who are
hanging by a thread, the minimum wage workers. And these questions are just some
snippets of what those people could be asking themselves every day.
In Nickel and Dimed: On (Not) Getting by in America, the author Barbara Ehrenreich
took on an experiment for better understanding of the working class. She left her
comfortable life and took on lower paying jobs herself.
Throughout the book Barbara cleverly used several rhetorical strategies, some quite
evident than the others.
In the first chapter, Barbara appealed to the reader s emotions as she was describing
her plight as a low wage earner which is a clear appeal to her ethos.
Ethos is one of the more evident rhetorical strategy that Barbara utilized on the first
chapter. Barbara built her credibility by continuously mentioning her Ph.D. and that
she is as she originally assumed but then later on changed her mind, too educated or
overqualified for the life of a low wage worker. Also, after working alongside, getting

Arguments Against Victimization
There were examinations made by theorists that suggest some people are, in fact,
victim prone and argue that, similar to the concept of born criminals , there are born
victims (Moriarty, 2003). Born victims are individuals who seem to be self
destructive and studies have proclaimed that they are responsible, to some degree, for
their own victimization. There is a continuous reciprocal action between predators
and victims (Moriarty, 2003). There are two main ways precipitative behavior can

not be changed. For instance, some people could live in a higher crime rate
neighborhood, so no matter what, stepping outside of the confines of their home
is a risk. But it is a risk worth taking because people need to run errands, go out to
eat, go to work, etc. They can not be responsible if they are a victim of crime by
choosing to not live in fear. Blaming the victim, even slightly, then diminishes full
responsibility for the offender. The concept of victim precipitation provides a
cultural framework which offenders can use to rationalize their behavior (Moriarty,
2003, p. 32). To better put this into perspective, in 2016, the Stanford University
swimmer, Brock Turner, was charged with sexual assault. After serving only three
months, he was given an earlier release date. Arguments, in this case, stated that the
woman should have never been as intoxicated as she was. The real argument here
should have been, Mr. Turner never laying a hand on her in any way (Shariff
Wiseman, 2016). Offenders should almost always take full responsibility for
immersion in crime, because when victim blaming occurs, it impacts the victim
emotionally, mentally, and psychologically. It even has the possibility of the
punishment for the offender become less severe. To add on, the creation of victim
blaming creates culturally legitimate victims , which is incredibly harmful to those
