presents a narrative about a recently widowed Duke who talks with an emissary had

In the perspective of Duke, power and wealth were integral in marriage and was

On April 3rd, 2016 I attend a worship service at the Unitarian Church of Harrisburg,
Pennsylvania; the Clover lane branch. Reverend Michael Walker is the interim
minister that led the service. Upon arrival the parking lot was filled with higher
class vehicles, along with some hybrid and eco cars. When entering the sanctuary
the congregation was mostly white in race and mostly male in gender. The
congregation acted to be of higher class or wealthy. The main colors with in the
sanctuary were blue and grey with a very open floor plan. The congregation sits to
face the stage with a giant wall of glass panel windows that give an amazing view
of the outdoors. There is a back drop where the minister stands that seems to be
made out of cinder blocks but was very modern and geometrical in pattern. There
was a front table on the stage that had fresh flowers, a set of human figurines and a
fire torch. The building inside has very sharp linear architecture and was very
modern overall. The ceremonial clothing was not casual for the congregation, but

dressed conservatively and the children wore similar things to what their parents

They lived in the Barteljorisstraat house in Haarlem ( Beje house ). Below was their
fathers watch shop and above they had their rooms. Their house was open to

workers until they could find another safe house. In Corrie s bedroom she had a
secret hiding place, for up to six people. This was a place for people to go when
security came through the house. And their was an air system that was installed in

I am quite sure life wouldn t be easy and it would mostly require 100% effort from
us. There are a myriad of question surrounding the lives of those people who are
hanging by a thread, the minimum wage workers. And these questions are just some
snippets of what those people could be asking themselves every day.
In Nickel and Dimed: On (Not) Getting by in America, the author Barbara Ehrenreich
took on an experiment for better understanding of the working class. She left her
comfortable life and took on lower paying jobs herself.
Throughout the book Barbara cleverly used several rhetorical strategies, some quite
evident than the others.
In the first chapter, Barbara appealed to the reader s emotions as she was describing
her plight as a low wage earner which is a clear appeal to her ethos.
Ethos is one of the more evident rhetorical strategy that Barbara utilized on the first
chapter. Barbara built her credibility by continuously mentioning her Ph.D. and that
she is as she originally assumed but then later on changed her mind, too educated or

In order for an individual to fully protect themselves against victimization, they
would need to seriously alter their whole life. To some degree, everyone in society
has no choice but to involve themselves in risky behavior (Moriarty, 2003). There
are situations that are completely out of one s control, and circumstances that can
not be changed. For instance, some people could live in a higher crime rate
neighborhood, so no matter what, stepping outside of the confines of their home
is a risk. But it is a risk worth taking because people need to run errands, go out to
eat, go to work, etc. They can not be responsible if they are a victim of crime by
choosing to not live in fear. Blaming the victim, even slightly, then diminishes full
responsibility for the offender. The concept of victim precipitation provides a
cultural framework which offenders can use to rationalize their behavior (Moriarty,

swimmer, Brock Turner, was charged with sexual assault. After serving only three
months, he was given an earlier release date. Arguments, in this case, stated that the
woman should have never been as intoxicated as she was. The real argument here
should have been, Mr. Turner never laying a hand on her in any way (Shariff
Wiseman, 2016). Offenders should almost always take full responsibility for
immersion in crime, because when victim blaming occurs, it impacts the victim
emotionally, mentally, and psychologically. It even has the possibility of the
