Explain How Hollingworth Has Improved The Variability...
Additionally, Hollingworth disproved the variability hypothesis i.e. men range enormously in their
talents and their defects; women are all pretty much alike.
She also studied the physical characteristics of 2000 babies and found no sex related differences in
variability on any measure. Hollingworth was a clinical psychologist and continued to work part time
in this field until 1920.
She discovered that many children labeled mentally flawed had normal intelligence but were
hampered by emotional disturbances and attitudinal problems due to adjustment
problems...particularly during adolescence. Her text, The Psychology of the Adolescent (1928)
became the standard in the field for twenty years. Hollingworth wrote the most influential textbooks

Anne Frank Conflict
The Diary of a Young Girl by Anne Frank is organized in chronological order and include the dates
important to the Jewish author. On Anne s thirteenth birthday, she receives a diary she calls Kitty, and
this is where she records events that happened to her. Anne includes writings about her brief normal
life and the life in the Secret Annex. She and her family are hiding from the Gestapo during WWII. As
the story progresses, more Jews join the Franks. There is great conflict between Anne and the rest of
the residents, though sometimes her father is darling. After a little more than two years in hiding, the
German police discovered the secret Jews and sent them into labor camps, where Otto Frank was the
only survivor. Anne matures and finds Peter at her side, even though there is tension between the other
Van Daans and herself. Not only is there conflict between Mrs. Van Daan, but with Anne s own
mother and her roommate, Mr. Dussel. Anne and her family were forced into hiding after her sister,
Margot, got called up: Margot told me that the call up was not for Daddy, but for her (14). They
immediately rushed to the attic in a building that contains her father s office. Anne describes her
beautiful Secret Annex (18) and depicts where everyone s room and living area is. There are many
things for the family to get used to, such as the chiming clock, Daddy, Mummy, and Margot can t get
used to the sound of the Westeroren clock yet, which tells us the time every quarter of an hour. I can. I
loved it from the start...it s like a faithful friend. Anne doesn t feel right at home, but she does love the
chime of the large clock. As soon as the family moved in to the Annex, Anne and her father prepared
for their long stay: We had to start clearing up immediately, if we wished to sleep in decent beds that
night (19). This symbolizes the long work they did to prepare for their long stay in the attic. This also
shows the reader the amount of effort Anne had to try and help her father. Anne and her father were
very busy, and Margot and her mother were not doing much, We hadn t had a bit of anything warm the
whole day, but we didn t care; Mummy and Margot were too tired and keyed up to eat, and Daddy and

Leadership Skills And Practices Of Leadership Essay
1. Leadership is defined by several principles of knowledge, applied knowledge and results. Oxford
Dictionary defined leadership simply as, the action of leading a group of people or an organization .
The Coast Guard sets a great store on the concept and application of leadership skills and practices.
The service begins training the enlisted workforce leadership skills at the most basic level in boot
camp, with primary focus on followership, team building and effective communications; all of which
are elements for leadership. We place such a store on leadership the Coast Guard created the
Leadership Development Center (LDC) with a primary focus on training leadership to the enlisted and
officer workforce. The LDC created the enlisted leadership continuum which brings us the Apprentice
Leadership Program, Leadership and Management School, Chief Petty Officer s Academy, Senior
Enlisted Leadership Academy.
2. Working for over two decades in the Coast Guard I have had the privilege to serve and work
alongside great leaders. Ironically, some of the best lessons learned were from leaders who were the
antithesis to what I call inspired leadership . Due in large part to less than positive experiences, I
became somewhat of an authoritarian basing my perceived leadership skills to my professional power
base and developed a rather draconian leadership style. This style worked well for me to accomplish
goals assigned to my work force but it left something to be desired for

The Role Of Male Socialization On Children Essay
Before I was born into this hectic society, I was assigned the specific gender of female based solely on
the genitals I possessed. From then on, I was instructed and socialized by the ones I love and trust how
to dress, love, carry myself, and act amongst others solely based off my gender assignment. My family
was always trying to put me in cute dresses and put all sorts of bows in my hair. I remember them
telling me, You are going to make a man very happy one day, or Just wait till you get married to the
man of your dreams. This type of heterosexual enforcement continued to be encouraged in church and
throughout the media by socializing and teaching me to believe that one day I would find one man that
I would marry and continue to pass on the cycle of heterosexual socialization to my children. Due to
all of this exposure, heterosexuality became natural and thus, normal to me; however, this type of
heterosexual socialization and heteronormativity is often unrealistic to those who desire a different
relationship or family, causing them to feel excluded by a majority of society. This kind of exclusion
has made people realize that this type of socialization is dangerous because it makes those who do not
fit into this idealistic society feel trapped. It is also seen as unnecessary due to the immense amount of
pressure it creates on everyone to live up to society s expectations and is simply inconsistent with
today s diverse social and familial formations that people

Globalization Is The Act Of Physical, Political, Social...
Globalization is the act of physical, political, social and economic interaction of people across the
world leading to an integrated system that is synchronized through common understanding (Scholte,
2000). The main area of concern is across border trade where business resources are shared beyond
domestic markets to establish an interconnection with preferred foreign markets. There have been
three forces that have continually increased the globalization phenomenon. They include
transportation, technology and communication.

The double stacking capabilities introduced incurred minimal extra costs of long distance shipment.
The competitive capacity of rail transport was enhanced against the shipping industry. Road transport
also embraced the advancement in containerization through new trailer or hauler trucks. Multiple
containers could be latched onto one trailer and successfully delivered over long distances. Therefore,
transfer of commodities was based on economies of scale with guaranteed minimum costs as
compared to previous years. Due to standardized containerization, intermodal transportation emerged
to effectively maneuver geographical constraints for timely deliveries. In this new system, integrated
transport modes act in a specific sequence to ensure cargo is delivered door to door. Multiple networks
of distribution centers linked to terminals were designed to penetrate a big portion of productive areas
(Rodrigue, Comtois, Slack, 2006). Customers no longer needed to have defined routes of cargo
movement. Instead, they only needed to worry about the time of delivery and costs of shipment. The
ability to enjoy faster transportation that was cheaper and covered longer distances as compared to
previous decades, encouraged movement of people and goods through long distances. The ease and
comfort in movement motivated the venture of investors and ordinary people into previously

Similarities Between The Birthmark And The Eye Of The...
The Birthmark and The Eye of the Beholder are both texts that deal with man s pursuit of perfection,
and how the conception of beauty is formed in society. However, these texts use very different literary
devices to make their points. While Hawthorne uses verisimilitude, paradox, and the antithesis
between Aylmer s view of the hand and everyone else s view to show that trying to create beauty and
perfection out of nature will only end in disaster in his book, Serling uses irony to create the round
character of Janet Tyler to show that beauty and perfection are relative, and how you view yourself is
more important than how society views you.

Janet almost succumbed to despair and tried to kill herself, but was able to go on because she realized
how she was more than just how some people saw her, she could be beautiful to herself. This contrasts
with The Birthmark, where Georgiana was completely flat. She was just a passive acceptor of her fate
from Aylmer. This passiveness contributed to the fact that beauty was her defining characteristic to the
other characters and Hawthorne. This contrast between the two characters shows that how you view
your own beauty ends up being much more important than how others view you.
Serling s ending is a perfect usage of irony. We cannot see the faces of anybody until the end of the
episode, where we learn that the patient is beautiful by the standards of most people, whereas the
doctor and the nurses are all ugly pig looking humans. This sense of irony shows that people all have
different ideals of beauty, and you can destroy a treasure if you don t appreciate that beauty. This is
similar to the message of The Birthmark, because Aylmer just wanted to change what he saw as ugly,
but what everyone else saw as beautiful, truly proving that beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Mind Control Methods in 1984 Essay
Mind Control Methods of 1984 and Today. Everyone wants more money. That s why people go to
college to make more money. That s why people rob banks to get more money. That s why people do
unethical business moves, to receive more money. We are living in a money hungry society. People
want more money because they know that money is power. This power allows us to change, shape and
mold society into exactly what we want. This forming and shaping can make a society more
productive which means more profitable. Yet, it is impossible to sit back and hope that a society will
conform to what will make you rich. Every society, whether real or fiction, uses mind control

At Winston s job in the ministry of truth, he re writes history to show that Big Brother is always
correct. Winston has constant reminders that Big Brother , the leader of the Inner Party, is always
watching and regulating his daily events. The Inner party makes such rules, so that the lower parties
become weaker and weaker and less chance of rebellion. The spirits and pocket of the people are
empty. This is good for the Inner Party because it keeps them in power, which is in turn richer. Yet,
Winston rebels against Big Brother and wont let the government control him in such a way. Winston is
viewed as the last humanist. He is interested with the basic God given rights of humans. Whether it is,
keeping a secret diary to preserve the truth, having forbidden sexual affairs or denouncing the party by
refusing to adhere to their false facts, Winston stands up for his beliefs until he can take no more. In
today s society, we are plagued by mind control methods as well. These are more subtle than those in
1984 but still have the same premise. The mind control methods used are aimed to achieve the same
goal as in 1984, that goal being power. Since we live in such a narcissistic and materialistic society,
power entails having money. The more money you have, the more powerful one can be. By using

Power Of Rightwing Groups
With Donald Trump s election into the White House, the rightwing of American politics gained power
like they ve never had before. As their power progresses, it is incredibly important that both
Democrats and Moderate Republicans devise a strategy to hinder the spread of these ideas and limit
their power. The most important ways in which these individuals should resist the growing influence
of these rightwing groups include: focusing less on social issues and more on economic policy, calling
out rightwing anti race rhetoric and dog whistle politics, and by staying away from becoming an
extremist group themselves. It is only through these methods that we can oppose rightwing politics
and take the power away from the groups that currently have ... Show more content on

Not only will this process take legitimacy away from the Democrats in the long run, but it will also
only cause the rightwing to go further to the right. The only way to successfully oppose the rightwing
movement is to remain as logical and level headed as is possible. This is demonstrated in Claire
Conner s experiences with the John Birch Society. While the society was incredibly powerful at one
time, they eventually began to collapse once they went after prominent leaders. Many soon saw them
as radical and un logical. As we let the rightwing movements spiral more and more out of control,
anyone who is even close to moderate will leave them, thus weakening their power. Providing those
whose opinions begin to dissent from this group an alternative is vital to opposing them. Another
reason why it is so important to shy away from radical behavior and ideas is that it will make other
liberal arguments weaker. It will be near impossible to convince rightwing supporters that their leaders
are using coded racial appeals when they have already written us off. One argument that has pushed
liberals further away from logically discussion and further toward extremist emotional appeals is the,
Trump is just like Hitler saying. Even though historical evidence has shown that while this is true in
some ways, it s false in many others, many

Essay about The Truth About The Big Two He
While reading Ernest Hemingway s short story Big Two Hearted River, ; one might think that it is just
about a man named Nick Adams returning to Seney, to go camping and fishing. It may not be clear to
some readers why the town of Seney is burned down or why Hemingway talks about each of Nick s
action in great amount of detail. While first reading the story one might not notice that Hemingway
has many symbolic parts, so that he can get the true meaning of the story across to the reader. The
story is truly about Nick Adams wanting to get on with his life enjoying to its fullest and putting all of

him and get on with his life trying to enjoy it to its fullest, ;Nick tries to put everything behind him,
which is shown by his happiness and excitement amp;#8230; ; (Annelie Lewis).
When Nick gets to the fishing grounds he does not use normal worm bait he uses, grasshoppers as
bait. When Nick got into the river he hooked the grasshopper from the thorax to the last segment of
the abdomen. Then grasshopper proceeded to hold the hook with his front feet, while it was spitting
tobacco juice on it. Hemingway used the grasshopper as a symbol that when life had Nick down he
was just going to get back up and continue to try and not give up.
While Nick is fishing he caught a small fish but he ended up letting it go, but soon after he caught
another fish which was the biggest one he had ever seen. He tried valiantly to get a hold of the fish
and pull it in but he could not and the fish bit through the line and escaped. Hemingway was showing
that nothing in this life is easy and it should not put you down, because when the fish got away from
Nick, he was not aggravated he smoked his cigarette and continued to fish. He

What Is The Ebony Clock Symbolize In The Masque Of The Red...
Unnerving, spooky, disturbing, frightful... All common characteristics of a hauntingly terrific tale by
the famous Edgar Allan Poe. His story The Masque of the Red Death brought a grotesque taste to the
horror genre throughout the 19th century with the use of literary devices. To summarize, Poe s story
discussed, in detail, the horrifying inevitability of death, which reveal the value of a device known as
symbolism used by Poe in this literary work. As people are familiar with, Poe s psychological
weaknesses spurred his creativity to which he poured his problems into Gothic Literature, and he
produced these unforeseen symbols as pawns of his life. In this popular short story, subtle objects are
manipulated to reflect Edgar Allan Poe s misfortunes. Symbolism is used throughout his short years of
living as a narrative device for his eerie publications. Within this composition, I will be justifying how

Discuss The Problems Edward Faced During The Reign Of...
How effectively did Edward deal with the problems he faced during the first part of his reign, 1042
1053?
When Edward came into power in 1042, England was in a poor state financially and also because of
threats of an invasion and this made the first few years of his rule difficult. Edward was faced with
many problems which he had to overcome. These problems involved; powerful Earls, (especially the
Godwine s), the foreign policy and the domestic policy. Edward both failed and succeeded in these
problems due to a number of factors. These include a lack of knowledge about his kingdom and some
may argue that he was naïve in his decisions. With some evaluation, we will be able to judge if
Edward was a successful King or not.

By 1051, Edward had managed to appoint Normans as bishops, and eventually half were filled by
Englishmen and the other half by Normans and other foreigners; Godwine and English Earls hated
this. In 1050, the Archbishop of Canterbury died and instead of Godwine s relative Aelfric being
appointed, he made Robert of Jumieges Archbishop instead. The witans supported this decision, this
may have been because Godwine was in such a strong position that the other Earls were jealous. So
overall,Edward had not been a complete success with regards to gaining power over Godwine as he
hadn t managed to appoint all the positions to Normans and only got one up on Godwine when
appointing archbishop as there was rivalry between the Earls.
However, even though Edward had got one up on Godwine, Godwine was still responsible for the
murder of his brother Alfred. Godwine had arrested Alfred and killed some of his followers, he was

Paulo Freire s The Banking Concept Of Education
One topic that is widely debated today is education and how well children are being taught. This is a
hard thing to improve because every child learns differently. So how do you create a system to fit
everyone s needs? A man named Paulo Freire studied the educational system and points out it s flaws
in his essay, The Banking Concept of Education where he explains how children are being taught and
proposes a better method. Mike Rose in his essay, I Just Want To Be Average explains in detail his
experiences in the school system and the problems he sees in school systems.
In his essay The Banking Concept of Education Freire describes the faults in our current educational
system and the method he believes should replace it. He shows how the banking concept of education
creates an environment where students just receive and store information, but never question why
things are the way they are. Then goes on to explain how in the banking concept teachers act as if they
are superior to the students by referring to teachers as oppressors and students as oppresses. In his
essay Freire also gives a solution to the problems he describes in the banking concept. It s called the
problem posing method and it is an interactive way of learning where your mind is more engaged.
This is a liberating educational experience where teachers and students are equal. That the teacher
learns with the student and encourages them. He then describes how these two different methods

1. Nicky Clayton, an experimental psychologist at UC Davis, observed a group of jays during a lunch
break. She noticed that they frequently changed their hiding places for the food that they stole from
the students. The frequency at which they did this, and how they tried to avoid being watched by other
birds suggests that they moved the food to keep other birds from finding it. If they did not think about
what the other jays thought, they would not go to such lengths to keep the other jays from reaching
their food. Furthermore, they remembered specifically which birds had watched them cache. The birds
went to great measures to ensure that other birds had no knowledge of where they put their food

Tobacco Control And The Agreement On Technical Barriers
3. Tobacco control and the Agreement on Technical Barriers to Trade The preamble of the Agreement
on Technical Barriers to Trade ( TBT Agreement ) recognizes the right of WTO members, within the
conditions of the Agreement, to promulgate and apply technical regulations to products sold in their
domestic market for the purpose of public health protection. The Resolution of the High level Meeting
of the United Nations Assembly on the Prevention and Control of Non Communicable Diseases

Last but not least, this measure provides product characteristics with which compliance is mandatory .
Thus, all stipulations or rules on characteristics of tobacco products and their packages, which satisfy
the foregoing elements, can be considered as technical regulations and they will fall within the scope
of the TBT Agreement. However, Article 1.5 of the TBT Agreement provides that provisions of the
Agreement do not cover and control measures falling within the scope of the Agreement on the
Application of Sanitary and Phytosanitary Measures ( SPS Agreement ). In order to ensure that
tobacco control measures fall within the TBT Agreement, these measures shall be out of the SPS
Agreement. Both SPS Agreement and TBT Agreement provide the limit in which WTO members have
the right to adopt and enforce measures to protect their public health. The TBT Agreement control
protective measures applied to all kinds of goods, except foods, beverages and feedstuffs which are
under the power of the SPS Agreement. Tobacco products cannot be witnessed as foods, beverages
and feedstuffs so protective measures imposed on them, certainly, fall outside the scope of the SPS
Agreement. According to Article 1.5 of the TBT Agreement, the legitimate of tobacco commercial
measures will be examined in the framework of the TBT Agreement, rather than the SPS Agreement.

Educational adjustments are very important for academic achievement. Ramanna Sood (1992) found
significant relationship between achievement motivation and adjustment. According to Good (1993)
academic achievement means knowledge attained or skills developed in the school subject, usually
designated by test scores or by marks assigned by teachers or by both. Best (1977) pointed out that
academic grades assigned by teachers or scores on standardized achievement test is operational
definition of academic achievement. According to George and Ravindran (2005) many factors
contribute to academic achievement. The major ones are intelligence, adjustments, motivation,
academic stress, level of aspirations and time perception etc. In present study academic achievement is
being studied with the adjustment, achievement motivation and academic stress.
Methodology
Aim of the study The main aim of the present study is that there is possibility of prediction of
adjustment of high school students on the basis of academic stress, achievement motivation and
academic achievement.
Objectives of the study 1) To measure the academic stress, achievement motivation and adjustment of
high school students and find out whether the difference between male female, urban rural and high
and low achievers is significant or not. 2) To study the strength of association

The Arabian Nights And The Tale Of The Merchant And His...
Throughout history, many pieces of literature such as novels and poems have been translated from a
variety of languages in order to show the stories to different cultures. Although the translations are
quite accurate, many times the diction is changed based on the way the translator personally interprets
the story as well as the message he or she wants to portray to their target audience in favour of their
own culture (Sabouri and Karimzadeh, 123). An example of this is The Arabian Nights where the
authors of the stories are unknown and were all translated from Arabic to many languages including
English. Even though it was written through one perspective, once translated, the meaning was

Moreover, in The Three Apples, a man kills his wife due to his suspicion that his wife cheated on him.
The slave who is just a stranger, that the husband believes the wife cheated on him with, remains safe
and unpunished. Therefore, it is shown that women are automatically seen as unfaithful by their
husbands and their society since even her own father is on her husband s side. After the woman is
killed, the father realizes it was a mistake but still protects the husband. Furthermore, in The Tale of
the Merchant and his Wife as well as in The Three Apples, women are portrayed as helpless and
powerless victims. In the Tale of the Merchant and his Wife, the man takes the animals advice and
decides to brutally beat his wife in order to stop her from asking him questions. She could not stand up
for herself, eventually she even decided that it was her fault and mistake not to listen to the husband.
Additionally, in The Three Apples, the woman is murdered by her husband at the end of the story, only
because he believed that she cheated on him and thought she was unfaithful. Not only was the woman
defenceless against the man but she did not even try to defend herself. This is how the West saw the
Eastern women. In contrast, in all three stories it is apparent that men are extremely violent, cruel and
controlling which is another common stereotype. Firstly, in The Lady and

The Causes Of The Renaissance And The Scientific Revolution
There are many different kinds of turning points in history that changed many society. These turning
points affected and advanced the lives of many people and the different time period they lived in. The
Renaissance and the Scientific Revolution both were major turning points because they both have a
huge impact on the advancement of people s life and their knowledge.
The Renaissance was huge turning point that impacted society since it changed the daily and social
life of many people. During the 14th century, Italy became a place that is very powerful with business
and had strong political powers because it was a huge trading center. This started an time where Italy
and some of Europe became prosperous in economics which is called as The Renaissance. There was
many causes to the Renaissance but the one cause is the influence from Greeks and Romans since
Ancient Greece studied history and are famous historians, it influenced people to do the same. Another
important cause is that people embrace the idea of human and life is more important than religion.
This also led to people shifting their focus from religious belief to secular ideas. People also really
wanted to accomplish their own achievements with their own power. Lastly, a disease known as The
Black Death is also a cause since it ended the system of feudalism and allowed people to find new
ways to climb up the social class especially in places where social mobility much greater than other
places. As a result, people s life became more and more prosperous . People who had shifted their
focus to non religious ideas accomplishes many things and some who became artists were also very
successful. The city Florence that is in Italy was a place where art florised. Many important figures
and wealthy families acquired their status and their famed recognition, would patronize arts by paying
an artist to create an impressive work of art. This was to mainly to show off their limitless amount of
wealthy. This led to an increase in trade which also meant that many cities grew in size and can
provide more jobs to people. Wealth became a symbol for power, wealth and prestige. In the

The paper concludes with a critical appraisal in connection with a comparison to other process

In the following, a general overview of UML as a unified language will be given. It is important to
provide a basis for a better understanding of how UML works in logistical processes. Therefore a short
outline of the history and the development of UML will be presented with a subsequent explanation of
what UML is and what types of diagrams exist. 2.1 Development of UML The origin of UML is
software development. But in the 90 s, a large number of different approaches, several books on object
oriented software modeling and a lot of graphical notations existed. The most prominent
representatives of object oriented notations are Booch from Grady Booch, Objectory from Ivar
Jacobson and Object Modeling Technique (OMT) from James Rumbaugh. The initiators of UML
gradually recognized the significance of a unified method for software engineering. In 1995 Grady
Booch and Jim Rumbaugh combined their both methods Booch and OMT and announced Unified
Method 0.8 (UM 0.8) at the conference OOPSLA in Austin, Texas. But this method lacked on the
integration of the customer and the user of the system. Soon Ivar Jacobson who brought the focus to
the Use Case Diagram joined Booch and Rumbaugh. Together they reduced the range of UM 0.8 to a
pure language and so developed the

Monogamy Vs Polygamy
Relationships are complicated, especially romantic ones; they involve a wide range of emotions and
expectations that need to be met or the relationship will fail. When it comes to polygamy there are
even more variables added to the equation since there are additional partners involved in the
relationship. Unlike the common belief that polygamy is where a man has multiple wives, it is actually
much more in depth where both sexes can have other romantic partners. As long as one lets their
partner know who they are seeing the relationship is considered healthy, although there is still the
obvious possibility of jealousy occurring. Honesty is everything in polygamy, even though individuals
are allowed to be romantically involved with others, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the United States it is illegal to be in an any of the three forms of polygamy if one is married. In the
early days Mormons were even persecuted if they were found practicing polygamy. If individuals
want to be polyamorous they must do so without being lawfully wedded to their partners. In a society
that is constantly progressing towards giving people their rights, polygamist still struggle in being
viewed as a legitimate way of life. With the gay rights movement having so much momentum and
finally becoming legal in the United States, polygamist thought the outcome could soon be the same
for them. The one major argument against polygamy is that it is a choice unlike the predetermination
of one s sexual orientation. Critics suggest that individuals should just be single instead of engaging in
a relationship where they are not faithful to one person. Although it is not certain where the future of
polygamy is headed, the controversial lifestyle is growing in popularity as more people explore their
sexual and emotional identities.
There is no doubt that as time goes on new generations develop different attitudes than their parents
which in turn shapes the modern world we live in. As far as marriages go, people are no longer in such
rush to get married, have children, and start the typical family associated with adulthood. This in part
could be because of high divorce rates that many individuals have experienced either with their
parents or someone they know. Cathy Meyer

Symbols Or Myths As A Representation For Something That Is...
One theme that has come up in multiple readings this semester is the theme of symbols or myths as a
representation for something that is not exactly true. Roland Barthes best describes what a myth is in
his book, Mythologies. The use of such myths and representations that was the most educational and
influential was Guy Debord s, The Society of the Spectacle where Debord describes how society is
made up a false life that is deeply intertwined with the real world to an extant that you can not
distinguish the two. In both of these cases, a common theme arrises from the analysis of
representations. This mutual theme is that representations tend to hold dominion over people and lead
to the idealization of appearances. This modern idea is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Debord believes it came about due to its monopolization over these representations. With its control
over representations, a spectacle can essentially control its own image, causing a passive acceptance
(theory 12) by the people due to its appearance as a good thing. However, the reason why Debord
finds the spectacle s domination to be so dangerous and powerful is because of its tautological nature
which means it s end goal is also the means of its existence. The spectacle aims only to further itself
and increase its existence or prevalence. In doing so it creates a requirement for obedience. If people
do not view representations as they are meant to be viewed, there is no possibility for argument, you
simply become an outlier with no real chance of fighting the overwhelming majority. The spectacle
does one crucial thing in order to ensure its longevity. It divides people. According to Debord, the
spectacle even has a certain religious aspect to it in the way it creates a type of illusion where humans
attribute their existence to something besides themselves. As Debord describes it, the spectacle is
hence a technological version of the exiling of human powers in a world beyond and the perfection of
separation within human beings (thesis 20). A modern day example of this that was not even present in
Debord s day is social media. We have become obsessed with how we are represented online, which

The Voice You Hear When You Read Silent Poem

Hear When You Read Silently, it is a poem that speaks with the inner voices that you hear when you
are interpreting then it gets into about the words that you remember can trace back memories.
Throughout this poem, Lux demonstrated tone, figure of speech, theme, structure, and imagery.
When Lux composed this poem, he wanted his audience to understand the tone of voice that he was
speaking. Lux had two tones that he was speaking in. For one, in the beginning, Lux was speaking in a
formal tone because in the poem he used you and your . When you and your is beginning used in a

The type of figurative of speech that he used was imagery and metaphor. Lux used imagery and
metaphor because he wants to enhance the description and give the reader a mental image of what
word he is describing. When Lux had used imagery, he is mainly talking about the barn. Some people
hated the barn they knew; some people love the barn they know so you hear the word loaded and
sensory connection. (line 23 25). Lux purpose for saying that quotation is because a different
individual might see a different image how they would think a barn would look. For instance,
someone might think that a barn is brown, and others may think it is red. Additionally, Lux said
another imagery line. By an internal ear informed by internal abstracts and what you know by feeling
(line 13 14). Th purpose that Lux is trying to point out is that when a word is said, it shows an image
that may bring memories. Then for metaphor, Lux began to speak about darkness. Dark cathedral of
your skull (line 11 12). Lux reasoning for saying that is because a dark cathedral might seem to be a
dark quiet place where everyone can hear or speak in their own internal voice. Lux used figuratively
of speech because he wants his readers to understand the visual images that

The Morality Of General Sherman
The Morality of General Sherman s March to the Sea
William Tecumseh Sherman was one of eleven children born to a distinguished Ohio family. Sherman
was orphaned at a young age and was enrolled in the United States Military Academy by his legal
guardian, Senator Thomas Ewing. He graduated sixth in his class, but never saw extensive action on
the battlefield. He tried other professions for a few years, but the outbreak of the Civil War called him
back into service. During the early years of the war he served in the battles of Bull Run, Ft. Donelson,
Shiloh and Vicksburg, and slowly moved up the chain of command. Following his successful capture
of Jackson, Mississippi, Sherman was promoted to Commander of the Western Theatre, by his boss
and friend, General Ulysses S. Grant. It was after this promotion that Sherman set out for the Southern
industrial hub of Atlanta and soon after began the famous March to the Sea ( William T. Sherman. ).
This march, from Atlanta to Savannah, was about two hundred and eighty five miles long and lasted
for about three weeks. Sherman s men stole food and livestock, burned houses and barns, and
attempted to scare the state of Georgia into surrender and collapse the Confederate war effort. During
this time, Sherman and his men encountered little resistance. The only battle was a small skirmish
outside the town of Griswoldsville that the Union won handily. After this failure, the Confederates
began to retreat and initiated a scorched earth policy.

Usually, just right after the New Year s celebration, many of us start looking at the resolutions we
made and, if you re like many people, yours probably resemble more of a grocery list: You want to

A typical scenario might be like this: You ll look at this laundry list of New Year s resolutions and you

Systemic Lupus Erythematosus ( Sle ) As Simply Lupus
Abstract
Most know Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) as simply lupus. It is difficult to diagnose and treat
but the symptoms can be mentally and physically devastating for any patient. Many may not realize
the extent to which a person with SLE is affected on a day to day basis. It is important for healthcare
professionals to understand the disease process, including the cause, signs, symptoms, and treatment
of SLE. By understanding the aforementioned, healthcare professionals can assist with reporting signs
and symptoms to the patient s doctor to further reach a correct diagnosis, but to provide holistic care to
the patient. SLE is a heterogeneous autoimmune disease which means the body s immune system
fallaciously attacks healthy tissues and various organs, in this case, primarily the skin , joints, kidneys,
and brain of both men and women.
Systemic Lupus Erythematosus is a chronic inflammatory disease which may affect many different
organs and tissues in the body. Lupus erythematous was first known as a skin disorder by Pierre
Cazenave a frechman in 1851. But even before the articles were found that went back to ancient
Greece. Lupus got its name because Lupus patients developed markings or rashes that resembled that
of a wolf. There are four types of Lupus, Systemic Lupus Erythematosus, Discoid Lupus
Erythematosus, and crossover or overlap Syndrome or Mixed Connection Tissue Disease. Individuals
of any age, sex, or race may develop the diseases.

Ethanol s Environmental, Economic, And Social Impacts
In a time of energy crisis and a subsequent search for a renewable replacement for crude oil, biofuels
have arisen as a source of hope. Currently, the largest source of biofuels in the United States is corn
based ethanol. The large scale of corn ethanol production and the potential promise of finding a
domestic, reliable source of energy, requires the fuel s viability as a replacement for crude oil to be
evaluated. However, there is debate surrounding corn based ethanol s environmental, economic, and
social impacts. The scientists and governments who support the development of biofuels claim that it
will not only provide a new and sustainable source of energy but also that it will reduce greenhouse
gas emissions and is therefore better for the environment. However, although corn based ethanol
continues to harbor support from the United States government, environmentalists argue that ethanol
is not substantially better for the environment, especially when the effects of its production are taken
into account. Also, while some larger farms profit from ethanol production, it places economic stress
upon smaller farms and the agricultural industry and leads to higher food prices that are a great
detriment to those living at the level of subsistence. Therefore, in order to produce energy efficient,
environmentally friendly fuel, the United States must work towards developing cellulosic biofuels and
those produced by microbes as they have fewer consequences than corn based

Two Sisters Of Persephone Sylvia Plath Literary Devices
Through the use of distinct opposites, Sylvia Plath is able to create two different mood in her poem,
Two Sisters of Persephone. The concept of two moods is set up in the poem s first stanza: daylong a
duet of shade and light, (2). This line suggests a battle between light and dark. Light being a metaphor
for and hope and happiness and darkness a metaphor for depression and sadness. Already, it s obvious
that there are two distinct females who are representative of different concepts. The first girl, who has
a, root pale...meager frame, (12) is obviously darkness. She s weak and pale which suggests hunger or
deprivation of some sort. There s no doubt that this fact contributes to the darkness portrayed by the
first female. It also seems as though she is dying. This death could be a sort of hyperbole to explain
what s happening within her or it could be literal. The girl of darkness, sees how their red silk flare / of
petaled blood, (17 18). Plath speaks of the girl seeing blood as a red silk flare. ... Show more content

Blood could be a metaphorical term for the dark girl having the life and her will to live sucked out of

This girl has all of these bright, happy, carefree aspects which are part of her life. Her life is seemingly

The Importance Of Soccer
Soccer is a popular sport all over the world and it is most popular in places like Europe and Spain. The
objective of soccer is to score goals by passing the ball down the field into the opposing team s goal.
The objective is to score more goals than your opponent. Soccer is popular all over the world, but why
isn t it popular here in the U.S?
Sports like basketball, Football, Baseball, and Tennis are all popular here in the U.S, yet, soccer doesn
t get as much attention. The U.S international team has qualified for the biggest international
tournament, The World Cup, for 32 years in a row. They never won the World cup, but they have been
performing really well over the years. If soccer was more popular here in the U.S, they would have
more people wanting to play the sport, causing them to improve massively as a team.
A major reason soccer isn t popular here is because the U.S only has 1 league to play in. For example,
all major countries have over 2 4 leagues so that more teams can play to reach for the top. The U.S has
a league called Major League Soccer, also known as the MLS. Firstly, the MLS only has 22 teams in
its league, that is more than most popular leagues in Europe and Spain! More teams mean more
excitement and fans right? Well not necessarily, The MLS might have more teams than any other
league in Europe, but it is very boring to watch.
You might ask, why would it be boring if there s more teams? It is boring since there is only 1 league,

government 9/11 commission recommended that biometric entry exit screening system was ideal for
travelers who were leaving and entering the United States. They reiterated that this was essential for
national security. Border screening systems were to be consolidated with United States Visitor and
Immigrant Status Indicator Technology (Haddal, 2010). This was supposed to streamline border
inspections. Legislations were instituted that were geared towards enhancing airline security, visa
border security, and maritime security. The Aviation and Security Act of November 2001, the

What can become of a border patrol personnel who fails to raise his hands? Other than the security of
the border patrol, the use of drones over domestic airspace has led to loss of privacy. Nobody can be
so sure about their privacy in their own property because they can t be sure nobody is watching them.
Drones can now fly for at least 10, 000 hours and so far, at least 4, 865 undocumented immigrants and
238 drug smugglers have been apprehended since the homeland security initiated the use of aerial
reconnaissance in border patrol (Booth, 2011). Considering that the boots on the ground in 2011
apprehended a massive 327, 577 illegal immigrants in southwestern border, if the number of illegal
immigrants apprehended using the drones is anything to go by, then it is not worth giving a shot at.
Sincerely speaking, these are just fraction arrests. The number of those arrested aside, the costs of
operating the drones are also so high compared to costs related to boots on the ground . A drone s hour
s flight costs $ 3, 600. It costs at least $ 7, 054 to catch an illegal immigrant with the assistance of a
drone. The government spends over $ 240 million in purchase and maintenance of its domestic drones
(Booth, 2011). This does not include operational costs. These costs are so exorbitant. Border patrol
should be given the capacity to

Type Of Luxury Consumers By Robert Frank
In the article Type of Luxury Consumers , the author, Robert Frank, tries to deal with the issue of the
behaviour of luxury consumers. He introduces the readers that the consumers will spend their money
lavishly to show wealth and status based on their economic ability. They are willing to buy expensive
items with a good branding compared to the low end product that lack of explicit markers. The author
argues every type of luxury consumer has their own desire and taste to follow the trend and the effect
of these consumers towards the brand management. The author agrees with the research made by the
USC Marshall School of Business about this issue. This can be proved when his thought is always
parallel with the study. There are a few types of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The example of inductive reasoning is based on paragraph VII, he states the Gucci s brand use
bamboo on its product to discreet their uniqueness compared to the counterfeit items. Then the author
gives a few effects to the manufacturer if they do not make a brand ubiquitous such as Burberry faced
in the 1990s, when its trademark checked plaid became ubiquitous and was fashioned into everything.
Based on the article, we can make the inference that non patrician gives bad effect towards the brand
management. Because non patrician is the one who is willing to buy cheaper items to being updated as
long as they can afford it without bothering the quality.
Based on paragraph IV, we can conclude that there are 4 types of consumers which are patrician,
parvenus, poseurs and proletarians. Every consumers has their own desire and taste to follow the
trend. They want to be looked wealth by their belonging items. Thus, non patrician is the one who
contributes the most in counterfeiting as long as they follow the trend and being

How Is Atticus Finch Courageous
Courage is an interesting word. Courage can be a feeling or an act. In the novel To Kill a
Mockibngbird the characters Mrs Dubose, Tom Robinson and Atticus Finch all demonstrate what true
courage really is. The first character I will discuss is Mrs Dubose. Mrs Dubose is a very old woman
battling an illness and a morphine addiction. Secondly, I will discuss Tom Robinson. Tom is a black
man who is (falsely) accused of rape by Mayella Ewell. Finally I will explain why Atticus Finch is
courageous. Atticus is the father of the novel s narrator Scout or Jean Louise Finch. All three
characters demonstrate great bravery throughout the novel, each have their hardships and each try to
push through the adversity to their best ability.
To begin, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As a reader, I found Atticus to be the most courageous character in the novel. The reasons behind this
statement are that Atticus defends a black man in court, he stands up to the lynch mob in front of the
jailhouse and because he can fight without words. First, Atticus is very valorous for taking the Tom
Robinson case. For a white man to be acquainted with a black man who was not his slave was rather
sporadic. Even after all of the physical and verbal abuse Atticus took he kept his word and defended
Tom for all he was worth. I can t stay here all day and this summer is going to be a hot one. (Atticus,
Page 128) As a reader, this was the greatest act of courage executed in the novel. For Atticus to risk
his respect, family and life to protect a black man took great bravery and sacrifice. Secondly, Atticus
protected Tom from he lynch mob at the jailhouse. As the men poured out of the car towards Atticus,
he was undaunted buy the moving shadows approaching him. In ones and twos, men got out of the
cars. Shadows became substance as lights revealed solid shapes moving toward the jail door. Atticus
remained where he was. (Scout, Page 152 153) Atticus fearlessly confronted the mass of angry men
and reasoned with them until there is an interruption courtesy of Scout. This event proves that Atticus
is very brave because he came up against a whole mob and did not back down. Finally, Atticus is

  • 4. Anne Frank Conflict The Diary of a Young Girl by Anne Frank is organized in chronological order and include the dates important to the Jewish author. On Anne s thirteenth birthday, she receives a diary she calls Kitty, and this is where she records events that happened to her. Anne includes writings about her brief normal life and the life in the Secret Annex. She and her family are hiding from the Gestapo during WWII. As the story progresses, more Jews join the Franks. There is great conflict between Anne and the rest of the residents, though sometimes her father is darling. After a little more than two years in hiding, the German police discovered the secret Jews and sent them into labor camps, where Otto Frank was the only survivor. Anne matures and finds Peter at her side, even though there is tension between the other Van Daans and herself. Not only is there conflict between Mrs. Van Daan, but with Anne s own mother and her roommate, Mr. Dussel. Anne and her family were forced into hiding after her sister, Margot, got called up: Margot told me that the call up was not for Daddy, but for her (14). They immediately rushed to the attic in a building that contains her father s office. Anne describes her beautiful Secret Annex (18) and depicts where everyone s room and living area is. There are many things for the family to get used to, such as the chiming clock, Daddy, Mummy, and Margot can t get used to the sound of the Westeroren clock yet, which tells us the time every quarter of an hour. I can. I loved it from the start...it s like a faithful friend. Anne doesn t feel right at home, but she does love the chime of the large clock. As soon as the family moved in to the Annex, Anne and her father prepared for their long stay: We had to start clearing up immediately, if we wished to sleep in decent beds that night (19). This symbolizes the long work they did to prepare for their long stay in the attic. This also shows the reader the amount of effort Anne had to try and help her father. Oxford Dictionary defined leadership simply as, the action of leading a group of people or an organization . The Coast Guard sets a great store on the concept and application of leadership skills and practices. The service begins training the enlisted workforce leadership skills at the most basic level in boot camp, with primary focus on followership, team building and effective communications; all of which are elements for leadership. We place such a store on leadership the Coast Guard created the Leadership Development Center (LDC) with a primary focus on training leadership to the enlisted and officer workforce. The LDC created the enlisted leadership continuum which brings us the Apprentice Leadership Program, Leadership and Management School, Chief Petty Officer s Academy, Senior Enlisted Leadership Academy. 2. Working for over two decades in the Coast Guard I have had the privilege to serve and work alongside great leaders. Ironically, some of the best lessons learned were from leaders who were the antithesis to what I call inspired leadership . Due in large part to less than positive experiences, I became somewhat of an authoritarian basing my perceived leadership skills to my professional power base and developed a rather draconian leadership style. • 6. The Role Of Male Socialization On Children Essay Before I was born into this hectic society, I was assigned the specific gender of female based solely on the genitals I possessed. From then on, I was instructed and socialized by the ones I love and trust how to dress, love, carry myself, and act amongst others solely based off my gender assignment. My family was always trying to put me in cute dresses and put all sorts of bows in my hair. I remember them telling me, You are going to make a man very happy one day, or Just wait till you get married to the man of your dreams. This type of heterosexual enforcement continued to be encouraged in church and throughout the media by socializing and teaching me to believe that one day I would find one man that I would marry and continue to pass on the cycle of heterosexual socialization to my children. Due to all of this exposure, heterosexuality became natural and thus, normal to me; however, this type of heterosexual socialization and heteronormativity is often unrealistic to those who desire a different relationship or family, causing them to feel excluded by a majority of society. This kind of exclusion has made people realize that this type of socialization is dangerous because it makes those who do not fit into this idealistic society feel trapped. It is also seen as unnecessary due to the immense amount of pressure it creates on everyone to live up to society s expectations and is simply inconsistent with today s diverse social and familial formations that people ... Road transport also embraced the advancement in containerization through new trailer or hauler trucks. Therefore, transfer of commodities was based on economies of scale with guaranteed minimum costs as compared to previous years. Due to standardized containerization, intermodal transportation emerged to effectively maneuver geographical constraints for timely deliveries. In this new system, integrated transport modes act in a specific sequence to ensure cargo is delivered door to door. Multiple networks of distribution centers linked to terminals were designed to penetrate a big portion of productive areas (Rodrigue, Comtois, Slack, 2006). Customers no longer needed to have defined routes of cargo movement. Instead, they only needed to worry about the time of delivery and costs of shipment. The Birthmark and The Eye of the Beholder are both texts that deal with man s pursuit of perfection, and how the conception of beauty is formed in society. However, these texts use very different literary devices to make their points. While Hawthorne uses verisimilitude, paradox, and the antithesis between Aylmer s view of the hand and everyone else s view to show that trying to create beauty and perfection out of nature will only end in disaster in his book, Serling uses irony to create the round character of Janet Tyler to show that beauty and perfection are relative, and how you view yourself is more important than how society views you. Janet almost succumbed to despair and tried to kill herself, but was able to go on because she realized how she was more than just how some people saw her, she could be beautiful to herself. This contrasts with The Birthmark, where Georgiana was completely flat. She was just a passive acceptor of her fate from Aylmer. This passiveness contributed to the fact that beauty was her defining characteristic to the other characters and Hawthorne. This contrast between the two characters shows that how you view your own beauty ends up being much more important than how others view you. Serling s ending is a perfect usage of irony. We cannot see the faces of anybody until the end of the episode, where we learn that the patient is beautiful by the standards of most people, whereas the doctor and the nurses are all ugly pig looking humans. This sense of irony shows that people all have different ideals of beauty, and you can destroy a treasure if you don t appreciate that beauty. This is similar to the message of The Birthmark, because Aylmer just wanted to change what he saw as ugly, but what everyone else saw as beautiful, truly proving that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. ... As their power progresses, it is incredibly important that both Democrats and Moderate Republicans devise a strategy to hinder the spread of these ideas and limit their power. The most important ways in which these individuals should resist the growing influence of these rightwing groups include: focusing less on social issues and more on economic policy, calling out rightwing anti race rhetoric and dog whistle politics, and by staying away from becoming an extremist group themselves. Not only will this process take legitimacy away from the Democrats in the long run, but it will also only cause the rightwing to go further to the right. The only way to successfully oppose the rightwing movement is to remain as logical and level headed as is possible. This is demonstrated in Claire Conner s experiences with the John Birch Society. While the society was incredibly powerful at one time, they eventually began to collapse once they went after prominent leaders. Many soon saw them as radical and un logical. As we let the rightwing movements spiral more and more out of control, anyone who is even close to moderate will leave them, thus weakening their power. Providing those whose opinions begin to dissent from this group an alternative is vital to opposing them. Another reason why it is so important to shy away from radical behavior and ideas is that it will make other liberal arguments weaker. It will be near impossible to convince rightwing supporters that their leaders are using coded racial appeals when they have already written us off. Throughout history, many pieces of literature such as novels and poems have been translated from a variety of languages in order to show the stories to different cultures. Although the translations are quite accurate, many times the diction is changed based on the way the translator personally interprets the story as well as the message he or she wants to portray to their target audience in favour of their own culture (Sabouri and Karimzadeh, 123). An example of this is The Arabian Nights where the authors of the stories are unknown and were all translated from Arabic to many languages including English. But in the 90 s, a large number of different approaches, several books on object oriented software modeling and a lot of graphical notations existed. The most prominent representatives of object oriented notations are Booch from Grady Booch, Objectory from Ivar Jacobson and Object Modeling Technique (OMT) from James Rumbaugh. The initiators of UML gradually recognized the significance of a unified method for software engineering. In 1995 Grady Booch and Jim Rumbaugh combined their both methods Booch and OMT and announced Unified Method 0.8 (UM 0.8) at the conference OOPSLA in Austin, Texas. When it comes to polygamy there are even more variables added to the equation since there are additional partners involved in the relationship. Unlike the common belief that polygamy is where a man has multiple wives, it is actually much more in depth where both sexes can have other romantic partners. As long as one lets their partner know who they are seeing the relationship is considered healthy, although there is still the obvious possibility of jealousy occurring. In a society that is constantly progressing towards giving people their rights, polygamist still struggle in being viewed as a legitimate way of life. With the gay rights movement having so much momentum and finally becoming legal in the United States, polygamist thought the outcome could soon be the same for them. The one major argument against polygamy is that it is a choice unlike the predetermination of one s sexual orientation. Critics suggest that individuals should just be single instead of engaging in a relationship where they are not faithful to one person. Although it is not certain where the future of polygamy is headed, the controversial lifestyle is growing in popularity as more people explore their sexual and emotional identities. There is no doubt that as time goes on new generations develop different attitudes than their parents which in turn shapes the modern world we live in. As far as marriages go, people are no longer in such rush to get married, have children, and start the typical family associated with adulthood. This in part could be because of high divorce rates that many individuals have experienced either with their parents or someone they know. Cathy Meyer ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 30. Symbols Or Myths As A Representation For Something That Is... One theme that has come up in multiple readings this semester is the theme of symbols or myths as a representation for something that is not exactly true. Roland Barthes best describes what a myth is in his book, Mythologies. The use of such myths and representations that was the most educational and influential was Guy Debord s, The Society of the Spectacle where Debord describes how society is made up a false life that is deeply intertwined with the real world to an extant that you can not distinguish the two. In both of these cases, a common theme arrises from the analysis of representations. This mutual theme is that representations tend to hold dominion over people and lead to the idealization of appearances. This modern idea is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Debord believes it came about due to its monopolization over these representations. With its control over representations, a spectacle can essentially control its own image, causing a passive acceptance (theory 12) by the people due to its appearance as a good thing. However, the reason why Debord finds the spectacle s domination to be so dangerous and powerful is because of its tautological nature which means it s end goal is also the means of its existence. The spectacle aims only to further itself and increase its existence or prevalence. In doing so it creates a requirement for obedience. If people do not view representations as they are meant to be viewed, there is no possibility for argument, you simply become an outlier with no real chance of fighting the overwhelming majority. The spectacle does one crucial thing in order to ensure its longevity. It divides people. According to Debord, the spectacle even has a certain religious aspect to it in the way it creates a type of illusion where humans attribute their existence to something besides themselves. As Debord describes it, the spectacle is hence a technological version of the exiling of human powers in a world beyond and the perfection of separation within human beings (thesis 20). A modern day example of this that was not even present in Debord s day is social media. We have become obsessed with how we are represented online, which ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Currently, the largest source of biofuels in the United States is corn based ethanol. The large scale of corn ethanol production and the potential promise of finding a domestic, reliable source of energy, requires the fuel s viability as a replacement for crude oil to be evaluated. However, there is debate surrounding corn based ethanol s environmental, economic, and social impacts. The scientists and governments who support the development of biofuels claim that it will not only provide a new and sustainable source of energy but also that it will reduce greenhouse gas emissions and is therefore better for the environment. However, although corn based ethanol continues to harbor support from the United States government, environmentalists argue that ethanol is not substantially better for the environment, especially when the effects of its production are taken into account. Also, while some larger farms profit from ethanol production, it places economic stress upon smaller farms and the agricultural industry and leads to higher food prices that are a great detriment to those living at the level of subsistence. Therefore, in order to produce energy efficient, environmentally friendly fuel, the United States must work towards developing cellulosic biofuels and those produced by microbes as they have fewer consequences than corn based ... Based on the article, we can make the inference that non patrician gives bad effect towards the brand management. • 46. How Is Atticus Finch Courageous Courage is an interesting word. Courage can be a feeling or an act. In the novel To Kill a Mockibngbird the characters Mrs Dubose, Tom Robinson and Atticus Finch all demonstrate what true courage really is. The first character I will discuss is Mrs Dubose. Mrs Dubose is a very old woman battling an illness and a morphine addiction. Secondly, I will discuss Tom Robinson. Tom is a black man who is (falsely) accused of rape by Mayella Ewell. In ones and twos, men got out of the cars. Shadows became substance as lights revealed solid shapes moving toward the jail door. Atticus remained where he was. (Scout, Page 152 153) Atticus fearlessly confronted the mass of angry men and reasoned with them until there is an interruption courtesy of Scout. This event proves that Atticus is very brave because he came up against a whole mob and did not back down. Finally, Atticus is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
