The topic I have decided to research is frozen conflict zones. Recently, the term
frozen conflict has become more relevant within international relations, and it is
used frequently when addressing conflicts within the former Soviet Union.
However, frozen conflicts is a term that is often used loosely and as a result there is
no way to categorize and define frozen conflict zones. Frozen conflicts are used to
describe conflicts that are not active and have yet to be resolved. But, why is this
term used only when discussing post soviet states? Why is this term not used to
describe similar conflicts such as Taiwan or Israel and Palestine? How can a conflict
be frozen if it is still creating global insecurities? I hope to answer all of these
questions within my research by using a variety of scholarly and professional sources.
Furthermore, I plan to create a set of criteria for defining for frozen conflict zones,
and as a result I will be able to look into the annexation of Crimea to determine if it
can be identified as a frozen conflict. I will inform my research through looking at
cases of current conflicts within Georgia, Russia, Azerbaijan, and Moldova.

focuses on Russia s involvement in the Crimean Peninsula . This interpretive source
argues that the Russian annexation of Crimea was a calculated move with the

The First English Evangelical Lutheran Church of Glendale (First English)
purchased twenty one acres of land in the Angeles National Forest. The land was
purchased in 1957 and was located along a natural canal used for drainage. First
English conducted a retreat center on approximately twelve of the acres that were
flat in character. The retreat center was for handicapped children and consisted of a

This past weekend witnessed a trifecta of momentous anniversaries. Katrina
happened 5 years ago, Martin Luther King, Jr. delivered his I Have a Dream Speech
on the Washington Mall 47 years ago, and Mother Teresawas born a century ago.
Monday: Katrina; Tuesday: I Have a Dream; Today: Mother Teresa
After spending a great deal of time on and devoting a good deal of space to the two
previous subjects in this series on recent anniversaries, 2005 s devastating
Hurricane Katrina and the world changing 1963 I Have a Dream speech by Dr.
Martin Luther King, Jr., I had looked forward to writing an innocuous, little piece on
one of the two saints I have ever known.

Being able to fix a problem has always intrigued me.
Marshall Manson is the managing director of social media, and he gave a great
presentation to us for the business visit at Ogilvy. His background is extensive and

After Katrina made landfall, Mississippi and Louisiana looked like a third world
country. With over 50 levee failures and numerous levee breaches causing severe
flooding in 80% of the city and 180,000 in structural damage the cities were faced

Dawn and Dusk were exhausted, the people were disappointed in their gods and
Sol was enraged at his sons. Sol attempted to spin the Earth while moving it around
the sun himself but was unable. He grew tired and weak from his extraordinary
efforts. Dayus and Nightus did not like to see their father like this. They agreed to
compromise and work together. When Sol heard the news he was elated! This
time the brothers had their horses work collectively to spin the Earth. Dawn and
Dusk spun the Earth while Sol pulled it around the sun. During the first half of the
trip Dawn was the lead horse and on the second half Dusk took the lead. This
tandem effort allowed for equal amounts of sunlight and nighttime to be enjoyed
on Earth, made the brothers happy each horse got to lead, and immensely pleased
their father. The people on Earth were grateful to their gods. They no longer had to
move to see sunlight or to view the moon and stars. They called the changes to their
lives Day and Night in honor of the brothers. Additionally, as sunlight began to
appear across the horizon and Dayus s horse took the lead, people looked to the sky

Constitution is that there is no absolute method of interpretation, thus no
