Women In The Catholic Church
The Sacrament of Holy Orders explains the Catholics who are consecrated to serve and how
they differentiate between themselves. A common understanding of priesthood is that God gives
his power and authority to provide the ordinances of salvation. While this may be true, many
people are not aware of what other roles priests take on and represent. The word Holy , in Holy
Orders , means sacred and worthy of respect or devotion. While, the word order appoints an
established community or group with a hierarchy, in this case God being the hierarch. In modern
times like these the majority of people know that becoming a part of the priesthood is a decision
one makes and then enters into a process. Though this may be true now, many do not... Show more

Do this in remembrance of me , signifies a deep meaning that Jesus wanted the priesthood to
understand and practice. With these words he not only established the Eucharist and priesthood, he
set a tone for the entirety of the Catholic Church. They would no longer rely on practices like
animal sacrifice or hereditary lineage, but on grace and salvation. During the same ceremony,
Jesus also grants the apostles and in turn priesthood, the ability the power to forgive sins. While
many people know that men of the priesthood have this ability, it is not very well known that it
was given to them by Jesus in the same evening. In fact, I thought they simply had this ability
because they are supposed to represent God here on earth and therefore would have this power,
not that Jesus Christ himself directly gave them this ability. The ability to consecrate, offer and
minister the Body and Blood of Christ, was also given to priests by

The European Union And Domestic Legal Systems And The...
The concern here was that the lawyers do not have any certifications, schooling, or experience in
judging cases. In the new ICS proposal there are changed made, as EU Commissioner Cecilia
Malmstrom explains:
the judges will be publically appointed in advance. And, like in courts, you won t be able to choose
which judges hear your case. Furthermore, we will guarantee there is no conflict of interest. Again,
like in domestic and international courts, the judges won t be able to continue any activities which
might interfere with their judicial functions. Finally, I want to introduce an Appeal Tribunal. Just
like in domestic legal systems and the World Trade Organization. (Malmstrom)
This change in the appointment of judges could mean that the public opinion in a case could be
more weighted by shifting the power from the companies to the international system. The European
Union brings the reforms on ISDS as a solution to a system that was broken. But, there is much
discussion about the necessity of a framework like ISDS and the ICS. Especially for high
developed countries there might be less reason for an Investor State court since their court systems
are already able to make unbiased decisions. European commissioner on Trade, Rupert Schiegelmig,
responded to this argument in a debate about the new ICS. Schiegelmich explained that even
though these court systems are highly developed, it is very hard to completely eliminate national
bias. He adds to that that European

Sick Around the World
SW June 5, 2013 Sick Around The World Video Summary This movie went around the world to
different countries to show the comparisons and differences in healthcare compared to each other
and the U.S. The first country that was visited was the United Kingdom. The United Kingdom
spends 8.3% of their GDP on healthcare. The citizens pay nothing for premiums, all of it is paid
trough taxation. Some services require co pay, but all young people and all elderly are exempt
from drug co pays. The United Kingdom calls their healthcare system socialized medicine ; the
government provides for and pays for all healthcare. The taxes that Britons pay gets distributed up
to different healthcare providers. Since the United Kingdoms system is taxed,... Show more content

Because of this smart card, Taiwan has the lowest administrative costs in the world.
Unfortunately Taiwan is not bringing in enough money to support its healthcare services. The
fifth country that was visited was Switzerland. Switzerland spends 11.6% of its GDP on
healthcare. Citizens pay $750 a month for premiums. If you are too poor to pay for your
premiums, the government will pay. Citizens pay 10% of the cost of services for a co pay.
Switzerland also used the social insurance model. 95% of the population already had voluntary
insurance when they country switched systems. All citizens are required to have coverage.
Switzerland shows that in a high capitalist nation with powerful insurance and pharmaceutical
industries, universal coverage is possible. Insurance companies are not allowed to make a profit
off of basic care and are not able to select only young and healthy applicants. The government sets
the prices on drugs, but the insurers and providers negotiate on all other prices. Switzerland has
the second most expensive system behind the U.S. The Swiss do not have gatekeepers, some
insurance plans may require them or may give a discount for using them. I really would much
rather have one of these systems compared to the one that we have now. Although I do have good
insurance, I think some of these methods may be easier for most people. I could go

The White House On Maple Street Short Story
Many say the white house on Maple Street is strange and the old people who lived there would
definitely agree. Nobody had stayed at the house for more than a year, especially since there was
something strange inside its walls. The day came when another family had bought the house. That
was the day their lives changed because there was someone already in the house. They were mad at
the other owners for it, but they couldn t sell the house because it was too late to find another house
on the market. The person had already introduced himself and invited them to stay. The familysaid
that they wanted some peace and quiet and nobody bothering them but they were wrong.
The whole family at the same time said No thanks, but we want to be alone.

Greatest Scene Excalibur
Greatest Scenes A Critical Analysis of Excalibur Excalibur is a very interesting story with many
great scenes. In Excalibur, three of the best scenes are, when Arthur draws the sword from the
rock, when the knights of the round table accuse the Queen of having an affair with Lancelot, and
when Arthur fights his son, Mordred. The first scene that interested me is when Arthur draws the
sword from the rock. This one was fascinating to me because many other of the strongest Knights
tried and could not do it. Out of everyone it ended up being Arthur who could draw it. He did it
very effortlessly and it made everyone wonder how. At this time he found out that his real dad was a
king and that made Arthur the same Another important scene is when

Essay about At the Cemetery, Walnut Grove Plantation
The forgotten ones at the cemetery, /walnut grove plantation, /south carolina, 1989 The poem at the
cemetery, walnut grove plantation, south carolina, 1989 by Lucille Clifton is a six stanza poem
with many repetitions throughout the poem conveying the idea of how the slaves that worked in
the walnut plantation were forgotten and not honored. The speaker of the poem, who is taking a
tour around the plantation and cemetery, expressed anger throughout the poem as the tension slowly
escalates ending with repetitions of here lies . Putting all the elements of the poem together,
paradox and repetition, it perfectly articulates the underlying meaning of the poem, which is to
remember and honor the dead slaves, men and women, whom worked in... Show more content on

One interpretation for this phrase is that people tend to enjoy only the finished product of the
plantation but does not have any respect for the slaves that worked there. Another interpretation that
can be inferred is that as the speaker gets shown around the plantation by a tour guide, the tour
guide does not mention anything about the slaves that were buried there.
Other evidence that supports the theme is line 17 18: the inventory lists ten slaves/ but only
men were recognized. Because these lines were italicized, it can be assume that the speaker is
just reading a sign and is simply stating a historical fact. However, reading into the lines
demonstrates how the slaves were dehumanized. The word inventory, which means complete list
of items such as property or goods in stock, shows that slaves were only property to slave owners
and does not have sort of human quality in them. Another deeper meaning that can be collected
from only men alone recognized is the feeling that women slaves were even more mistreated and
were not even recognized as an inventory, which can be inferred that women slaves were even
lower than male slaves and were not recognized as an object or property. The denial of women
slaves existence ties closely to lines 25 28: some of these slaves were women some of them did this
honored work.
Here, the speaker is telling the readers that not only men worked in this plantation

Holistic Integrative Community Grassroots Level Essay
d.After the diagnosis, the sessions and the place for treatment should be decided being sensitive
to the context of the individual, where he/she lives, and any challenges he/she may face to reach
the place or seek treatment. The various challenges should be discussed and the professional
may decide if he/she wants to include the family or any other protective factors in treatment.
e.Finally, the greatest of the individual s mental health needs would be follow up, accessibility
and openness during relapse and rehabilitation. The rehabilitation should involve active
awareness programs in the community, several sessions over a period of time about their role
with respect to this individual and hence, normalize and increase the acceptance for him/her.
Also, the individual may be involved in the awareness programs or be gainfully employed by
providing training in certain skills for better rehabilitation. One of the best ways to implement this
at the holistic integrative community grassroots level would be as follows: 1.NMHP and DMHP
better implementation: I.The NMHP and the various DMHPs are plagued by several challenges
such as the follows: Poor integration of mental health into the Primary health care facilities due to
lack of trained professionals with an estimate of 3,500 psychiatrists for 1 billion population (Das

Should Mountaintop Removal Be Banned
Since the 1970s, mountaintop removal continues to destroy millions of acres of land and hundreds
of mountains primarily in eastern Kentucky, southern West Virginia, southwestern Virginia, and
eastern Tennessee. That leaves many communities who are near mountaintop removal sites
threatened by the explosions and the toxic waste that can potentially harm them. Mountaintop
removal also has a big impact deforestation which can cause global warmingand lead to many
endangered species. Mountaintop removal should be banned because it involves permanent
deforestation, it harms local communities by using explosives near their community and destroying
their drinking water, and it harms the climate by emitting carbon dioxidefrom burning coal.
One of the reasons why it should be banned is because it involves permanent deforestation.

Why I Want To Pursue A Master Of Science Degree
Education is not preparation for life; Education is life for itself.
These are the words of John Dewey, which have led an everlasting impression on my mind. It
relates to the idea of lifelong learning, and the knowledge that education is much more than what
lies within the curriculum. Whenever I pause by to reflect on my ken of knowledge, I feel that how
little I have learnt and that an enormous, unknown and fascinating wealth of knowledge lies before
me, yet to be explored. Education is like an edifice based on strong rudiments and strengthened by
the fundamentals and practical skills acquired during one s lifetime. So my main goal is to design
the next generation innovations in field rather than being just a user of existing technologies and
findings. So I intend to pursue Master of Science degree in Automotive software Engineering at
your university as the first step towards obtaining a PHD.
Nothing is Impossible in Life has always been a motivating force behind all my achievements. I
strongly believe that enjoy what we do and having the passion to pursue, we can ultimately achieve
our destination, no matter how much efforts are needed. My inherent urge and interest to pursue
engineering emanates from an instinctive inclination for Physics and Mathematics since my
schooling. From early childhood, I was very captivated with electronic appliances around me. I
would ask my parents about their principle of working. I always tried to find out what basic

Analysis Of Jeannette Walls Uses Imagery
Jeannette Walls uses imagery to give the reader a clear insight to what she is think and what is
going on in her mind. An example of this would be when she said, Until then, when I thought of
writers, what first came to mind was Mom, hunched over her typewriter, clattering away on her
novels and plays and philosophies of life and occasionally receiving a personalized rejection
letter. (204) In seventh grade Jeannette is the first person her age to work for the school
newspaper, The Maroon Wave and this depicts the imagery in her head. She uses her own
experiences with her family to influence and inspire her writing making her a great writer. The
imagery in this book takes the reader to another level with understanding how the author truly sees
the world. Jeannette Wallsuses juxtaposition to exaggerate her point of her family s view on life.
They are not the typical family that would live in a home with the parents working. Their living
situation involved living in their car and in many crippled housing till they were wanted and had
to escape or got kicked out for not paying rent. The juxtapositions show her life. The quote, If you
don t want to sink, you better figure out how to swim. (66) shows the comparison of sink and
swim . Rex, her father, teaches Jeannette how to swim by literally forcing her to sink or swim. He
repeatedly throws her into a sulfur spring in the desert, rescuing her when she sinks only to throw
her back in the water again. Using these

The Generation Of A Generation
Millennials is the generation of people who were born between the years of 1982 and 2000. The
millennial generation consists of roughly seventy six million people which is the largest
generation yet. What sets millennials apart from other generations, is that they are the first
generation to be raised with technology. Most notably, the Millennials treat technology as their
sixth sense . It is a significant characteristic and skill set that distinguishes them from members of
other generations (Alexander Sysko 127). The skill of having technology be our sixth sense has
helped millennials immensely when it comes to getting jobs. Growing up in the first generation
with technology does have its downside. Unfortunately, growing up with technology has also
caused millennials to be one of the laziest generation yet. The invention of the television, and
video games like nintendo, xbox, and playstation have caused a lot of the millennial generation
to be incredibly lazy. It is not just the technology that has made the millennial generation lazy, it
is also how they were raised. The millennials were raised in the trophy era, where no matter what
someone does whether it be good or bad, they will always get praised. The trophy era has affected
millennials everywhere even when they grow up. For example, in the workplace millennials
always expect to get praised for finishing their job no matter if they did well or not. Millennials are
singled out from other generations in the

The Task Of The Translator By Walter Benjamin
Walter Benjamin s essay, The Task of the Translator, is illuminating in the way in which it shatters
any preconceived ideas that may view the act of translation as diminishing the value of the original.
Benjamin has high regard for translation, placing it in the realm of art as a distinct form. He argues
that art is not about the audience or the receiver that is, it is not primarily about communication.
The purpose of art is not to instil a specific belief, impart information or to entertain certain
sentiments in the reader thus, appreciation does not reside in generating a moral by interpreting its
content. As an art form, translationfor Benjamin is not about propagating ideas or beliefs but is
about embarking on the task of attaining pure... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Likewise, translation cannot be considered to interact with the reader, seeking to communicate the
meaning of the original text as the content is not essential in our appreciation of the text. His
question assumes the original and the translation as distinct categories, both of which, for him, are
works of art. Apart from carrying messages and prolonging the value of texts, what is unique to
translation is its potential to express the central reciprocal relationship between languages (72), its
kinship to another language and its potential to bring out the pure language where the mutually
exclusive elements among languages can mingle and supplement one another (74) and where
complementary intentions between two languages can be communicated. Therefore, the translator
should not be restrained by the burden of relaying what the original means. Benjamin claims that
languages are not strangers to one another, but are, a priori and apart from all historical
relationships, interrelated in what they want to express (72). The affinity between languages can
best be brought out by an accurate transmission of the form and meaning of the original

In addition, it wrongly allocated its indirect costs at volume bases. The use of process technology
mentioned in the case led to an increase in factory overheads Since direct labor hours was not a cost
driver of them, allocating its large proportion of fixed factory overheads and other indirect batch
level costs on the basis of DLHs in this cost system did not accurately measure how resources
were being used. As a result, these inaccurate allocations would have significant costs to Elkay.
Moreover, it disregarded its cost structure in which most costs were fixed that would not vary in
the short run and should be allocated based on its practical capacity. By using the actual sales
volume as the allocation base for allocating its large corporate overheads, this standard costing
system in fact over pricing its products for its actual productivity was lower than the practical
capacity under the intense competition. As a consequence of all problem within the standard
costing system, PPD urgently needed an accurate costing system.
Indeed, PPD had ever tried to solve these problems by developing a simple Excel based ABC

due to advancements in media technology over the past two decades. Police brutality is a

current Americans perception of police brutality? Looking at this information can help explain

surveys and field research that has been carried out over the past decade. The data that is
collected will be able to give us a better look at the amount of media the public consumes and
what their perceptions are on police brutality. This proposal will review the research and data

The Alliance Of The United Steel Workers Union And The...
With the rapid industrialization of the world we are currently at a stalemate, with the rapidly

or risk the loss of those resources altogether. In order to address these issues, the BlueGreen
Alliance was formed. The BlueGreen Alliance is the unlikely partnership of The United Steel
Workers Union and the environmentalist group Sierra Club, working together in order to build a
cleaner and fairer economy . The normally opposing organizations are collaborating to improve
environmental policy and expand the number of and quality of jobs in the green economy. Since
the BlueGreen Alliance may be the first major collaborative group working to tackle these issues
their effectiveness in comparison to other options has not been evaluated. In this paper we will look
at the ties between economical and environmental problems, what the BlueGreen Alliance has

that works towards spreading awareness about the issues we face when tasked with creating good
jobs while also maintaining a safe environment. Most successful businesses are able to contribute

Giselle And The Romantic Era
The romantic era had begun in the early 19th century and was the most innovative era for the ballet.
Known for the reflection of art and literature, the romantic era was the time of fantasy, etherealism
and supernaturalism. Female dancers became the superstars of the ballet especially with the
introduction of pointe work, the iconic romantic tutu and themes of a lovethat could never be. On a
softly lit stage lights flickered over ghostly forms.
Throughout the romantic era many innovative features were introduced such as gas lighting, trap
doors and fly wires. Gas lighting was used as the transition light from sunshine to moonlight for the
ballet acts. Gas lighting created a mood to tell the story of a love that was destined to fail,
especially in Giselle. The dark light of the second act filtered across the willis as they haunted the
graveyard. Trap doors and fly wires were innovative as it gave the effect of the ballerina s
disappearing and flying through the air delicately.
The ballet Giselle is a romantic ballet based on a forbidden love between a royal and a
commoner. Giselle is a young girl who has a weak heart and falls deeply in love with a royal
named Albercht. Giselle has a strong passion for dancing however, her heart limits her from doing
what she loves. Later in the ballet she finds out that the man she loves dearly is engaged with

In the romantic era the costuming had a large impact on performances. The costumes complimented

Attorney General John Ashcroft s Controlled Substance Act
On January 17, 2006 in a 6 3 vote in favor of Oregon, the court declared that Congress intended the
Controlled Substance Act (CSA) to only prevent doctors engaging in elicit dug activity and not to
define the states standards of medical practices. Attorney General John Ashcroft made use of the
CSA to prohibit certain medical practices illegitimate, including the allowance of doctors to
prescribe lethal doses of medication to terminally ill patients (the Death with Dignity Act). The
court s ruling in favor of Oregon was a legitimate decision, because Attorney General John Ashcroft
did not have the authority to declare certain medical practices illegitimate. In 1997, the state of
Oregon enacted the only physician assisted suicide law. The administer... Show more content on

This ruling was a reprimand for former Attorney General Ashcroft, who said in 2001 that
physician assisted suicide was not a legitimate medical purpose and that Oregon doctors would
be punished if they helped people die under the law. Justice Anthony Kennedy responded to the
ruling saying that the authority claimed by the attorney general is both beyond his expertise and
incongruous with the statutory purposes and design. The Supreme Court s ruling was not a final
definite statement on federal authority having the power to override state physician assisted
suicide laws, it was in its basic form a declaration that the current federal laws did not allow it
and did not give the authority to the Attorney General to make a decision like he did. While the
Supreme Court was correct in their decision, it could still have repercussions outside of the state
of Oregon. Jay Sekulow, Chief Counsel of the American Center for Law and Justice, was one
person that did not agree with the court s decision, he stated that This is a disappointing decision
that is likely to result in a troubling movement by states to pass their own assisted suicide laws.
Senator Ron Wyden, a supporter of the physician assisted suicide law, said that the ruling has
stopped, for now, the administration s attempts to wrest control of decisions rightfully left to the

Student Finance In College Essay
Applying to university and mapping out your future are both learning experiences themselves, and
this all happens before your first day at term as an undergraduate! However, most students forget
about the amount of information that they need to learn about student finance and the student loans
company for example, how you re going to pay for your course fees, accommodation, textbooks and
live during your time studying. Although we all wish that these funds somehow appeared into our
bank accounts, with no questions asked and a smiley face that isn t going to happen. This is all that
you need to know about student finance, and why it is important to learn them in advance of
applying. Firstly, what is student finance? Student finance, part of the student loans company, is a
loan system, in connection with the government that helps students (no matter how old they are,
from the age of 18 and up to 60) with their fees. This financial support is different from standard
loans, grants or scholarships. Student finance initially pays your tuition fees the amount it costs to
solely be allowed on the course at your institution, and at the moment they can be as high as
ВЈ9,000 a year. Any student above the age of 18, who is studying at a higher education institution
or course, is able to apply for student finance to pay their course fees for them, and then pay back
the loan later on after the course has finished. This type of loan is extremely helpful as most
students aren t able

Organic Essay Vs Organic Farming
The topic that I chose to focus on for my research paper is on the practices used in both
organically and conventionally grown foods. More specifically, I focus on the sustainability of the
two different methods and whether or not one is more sustainable than the other in terms of soil
health and crop output/production. The question that I asked in order to help develop my research
is Is organic farmingmore sustainable and healthy than conventional farming methods? My stance
on the matter is that organic farming methods are not only healthier than conventional methods but
they are also more sustainable for future farming. Before reading my research paper, my readers
will have to understand the different farming techniques and methods used in both conventional
and organic farming. They will also need to know the types of pesticides used during both
practices and whether or not these pesticides and chemicals are harmful to the human body. This
can be best explained by Paul Maders article Soil Fertility and Biodiversity in Organic Farming. In
this article he discusses the farming methods used in organic foods and conventional foods. This
article also discusses the nutritional difference between the two types of growing foods and effect
that both have on soil, crop yields and biodiversity within organic farms. This article helps the
reader to understand the process in which these two different methods produce food and the many
factors that go into the production of both.

Siddhartha s Journey To Enlightenment
Enlightenment is a word to loop in the ideas of gaining insight into the mind and achieving peace
with in ourselves, with releasing ourselves from the harshness of life (Wikipedia). In our current
time, many people now are still trying to reach enlightenment as many religions that bring up the
idea of becoming at peace with ourselves spreads to new people. In the novel Siddhartha by
Hermann Hesse, we experience the journey of a man who strives to reach enlightenment. He comes
across many different characters, but here, we focus on four people, including Siddhartha, himself.

His Self had crawled into this priesthood, into this arrogance, into this intellectuality. It sat there
tightly and grew, while he thought he was destroying it by fasting and penitence. Now he
understood it and realized that the inward voice had been right, that no teacher could be bought

reach what he needed to achieve he needed to get rid of his thirst for knowledge. His perspective
on how to reach peace changed from how he saw it from the beginning; he believed that
salvation was achieved from knowledge and being satisfied of what he had learned. Now, he
sees that he was unhappy because he craved more and that took over his other senses. When
someone is seeking, said Siddhartha, it happens quite easily that he only sees the thing that he is

Seeking means: to have a goal; but finding means: to be free, to be receptive, to have no goal. You,

Respect Of A Child In The South During The Late 1800 s
Imagine a child in the south, during the late 1800 s. There was certain manners and values that a
child would have been raised with. One of the most important of these values was to respect one s
elders. A child raised in these values would listen to an adult and think that they re right no matter
the circumstance because they are older. Also, a child would have been raised to accept certain
social injustices like slavery. This was mainly because the adults said it was alright. Mark Twain
wanted people to realize the immorality of society during the 1800s. Mark Twain first shows this
with the Widow Douglas and Ms. Watson. Huck listens to Ms. Watson and Widow Douglas

Critique on Carl Milles work
Carl Milles (Carl Emil Wilhelm Anderson) was born at Orby in Lagga near Uppsala, Sweden on
23 June 1875 and died at his home in Lidingo, Sweden on 19 September 1955. He was the world
famous Swedish sculptor during the first half of the 20th century. In 1892 1897, he was
apprenticed to a cabinetmaker and woodworker when he left school and attended evening classes at
the Technical School in Stockholm in woodwork and later in carving and modeling. He showed a
talent for sculpture in the evening classes and was awarded a scholarship from the Swedish
Society of Arts and Crafts. He was then offered a job in Santiago, Chile to help manage a school
of Swedish gymnastics. However, he stopped at Paris on the way to Chile and remained in Paris
until 1904 and attended lectures at the Sorbonne to study art. He was admitted to the salon in 1899
and later worked in the studio of Auguste Rodin. He slowly got the recognition as a sculptor.
Carl Milles in 1955
The early work of Carl Milles was Two Girls Dancing in 1917. The sculpture shows two women
poised on tiptoe in a turning movement. He was enthusiastic about free dance, which was
developed at that time. He attended many performances in Paris and Stockholm. So, he sculpted
two dancing women. He was interested in the concept of turning and lacking gravity when he
created this sculpture because dancing meant the turning movement and the dancer lost contact
with the ground momentarily. And later his

Alexander Mosaic
Discussion of Badian Alexander Mosaic In the section A Note on the Alexander Mosaic Ernst
Badian attempts to give his own interpretation of the Alexander Mosaic. Badian first gives Goethe
s explanation of the mosaic. Goethe believes that Alexander appears as a conqueror while Darius
is in horror. Badian, in this paper, attempts to show that Darius is in the prominent position and
Alexander does not appear a conqueror or a hero. Badian starts his argument by discussing the
similarities of a realistic action painting, like this Mosaic, and a snapshot. This means that the artist
is focusing on one moment in time, and chooses what he wants to show. Badian then start to talk
about the mosaic. He shows how the movement is from right to left, or... Show more content on

Darius is taller than everyone else and learns forward towards the enemy. The horror on his face
is from his seeing the sacrifice his noble made for him. Alexander, however, cannot seem to be
able to control his horse and his helmet has fallen off. This makes him appear as unheroic. The
tree in the mosaic is another piece of Baldin s argument. In order for Darius to use his cavalry,
Darius cleared the ground of the battlefield. This means the tree in the composition was obvious
added by the artists and therefore must have a meaning. One interpretation Baldin gives is that
the tree signifies the destruction of Alexander s wars. Badian ends by discussing the artist. He
identifies the commissioner as Cassander, a King of Macadoia from 305 297 BC, and who
Alexander treated poorly. Badian believes this poor treatment caused Cassander to have a bias
while commissioning the mosaic. Therefore, he wanted a piece that did not glorify Alexander, even
if he won every war against the persians. Finally, this explains why the mosaic show a time when
the Persians are dominating the action and while Alexander looks unheroic, even though Alexander
wins in the

The Is Not Our Differences That Divide Us Essay

When the Barbarians enter the scene they all appear uncivilised and disorganizes in

The other quantum aspect to this computer is that the quantum states may overlap with
neighboring magnets, which to put straightforwardly, means that they can act collectively [11].
This is important because there could be a scenario where an individual magnet flipping would
cause the energy state to increase while several flipping at the same time would cause the energy
state to decrease [11]. This switch of several simultaneously would ordinarily be highly unlikely,
but due to the quantum states overlapping there is a much higher probability of this occurring
[11]. Though cooling the chip down to near absolute zero the magnets will realign themselves
many times, each time at a lower energy state, eventually reaching what is very likely the correct
solution [10] To account for the fact that it isn t guaranteed to be the best answer the computer will
return several values scaled to show which if the answers is optimal [10]. The black box housing
the chip not only houses the cooling unit, but also helps to regulate many other environmental
factors. One of the more important ones is that it shields to 50,000 times less than Earth s magnetic

Deforestation Is Infrastructure Expansion ( Geist Lambin...
There are many causes/factors to deforestation, which are largely associated with direct human
influence. The first proximate cause to deforestation is infrastructure expansion (Geist Lambin,
2002, p. 144). This refers to transportation (roads), private and public markets, rural and urban
settlements, and private and public services (water lines, oil exploitation, etc...) (Geist Lambin,
2002, p. 144). The next cause is agricultural expansion, which includes, large or small scale
cultivations, shifting cultivations (slash and burn), and, of course, cattle ranching. Wood
extractions for industrial and domestic purposes are other proximate causes to this issue.
These issues may be exacerbated by mismanagement of central governments, heavy political and
economic pressures, widespread corruption, cronyism (appointing familiars to positions of
authority), and illegal logging operations (Speth Haas, 2006, p. 30). Corruption and illegal
extracting activities are especially problematic because they allow for further abuse and destruction
to this environment.
International development agencies and corporations, such as the World Bank, must also be looked
as actors to this problem. They have contributed millions of dollars into dams, highways, power
development, and transmigration schemes (Speth Haas, 2006, 31). These organizations encourage
foreign investments to be taken place so as to expand extraction operations (Speth Haas, 2006, 31).

the possible corporate structures may tend to three different values, i.e. cost, differentiation and

to a cost effective model.
Job shop method of production to Hybrid method.
The new corporate strategy implies re engineering from a job shop method of production to a hybrid
method of production. The former involved manufacturing operations with several departments,
each of which produced particular components whereas the latter being a flow operation where
multiple stations can work simultaneously. This will mainly allow Spartan to increase volume of

ideal leader in the ways that men can nor can they deal with responsibilities of such a job.
Pfister makes Denmark s position on women being equal to men and deserving of the same
opportunities as them known but adds that they re still under represented (27).Women are free to
join the same workforces as men and partake in the same activities as men but how they are treated
within these occupations is what she finds compelling. Pfister aims to identify reasons for the
existing gender hierarchy (27) and accomplishes this by using the results of quantitive surveys
on Danish sports leaders performed by herself, her peers and those who have wished to
investigate this topic as well. We as readers can see for ourselves that throughout the world the
power appears to be in the hands of men (27). For example, how many world leaders do we see that
are of the female sex? According to Time Magazine there

Simba s The Lion King
The Lion King is considered a classic and one of the greatest animated films of all time. Many
say that it draws on the epicness of its source material, William Shakespeare s timeless play
Hamlet . While the themes of revenge and death are represented in Lion King , it is toned down
in order to appeal to the primary target audience of children. One message directed towards the
audience of children and adults is how natural enemies can cooperate and even become friends, as
evidenced in the friendship of Timon, Pumbaa, and Simba. Simba, the prince of Pride Rock, is
destined to be the King after his father, but the representative of manipulation and evil, Simba s
uncle Scar, stages a takeover by murdering Simba s father, Mufasa, and convincing

Examples Of Propaganda During The Baroque Period
During the Baroque period, propaganda uses art in order to convey the messages of religious
issues; Counter Reformation for Roman Catholic church.1 In addition, in today s society, it is
used widely to achieve a desired result socially, politically, and economically.2 Through these
examples of propaganda such as Gianlorenzo Bernini s The Ecstasy of Saint Teresa for the
Baroque period and a song about anti immigration to America by La Bestia, and a poster about
Obama s campaign for the contemporary society, how the propagandais used and defined according
to the times is shown.
Propaganda helps demonstrate superiority of Catholicism and doctrinal differences between
Catholicism and Protestantism for church by using art, such as paintings,

Where The Girl On The Sea Are Short Story
WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE
I perched myself upon a weathered rock. My footprints left tattoos in the sand. The wind was
etherized in the sky. The sun smoldered in silence. Centered in a quiet oasis, the blue beast howled.
It stretched out before me like the land was coated in oil paints: cerulean and cyan, electric and
Egyptian, teal and turquoise.
The moment that I stood before this righteous beast was captured and bottled up in my beloved
father s camera.
This flimsy piece of paper is a portal. It is a portal to a girl who left her worries at the shore, on that
smooth and cold rock. Who left the marks of her bare feet across the velvety sands. Who
embraced the ocean like it was a bed of sapphire, silk sheets. Who let the frigid ... Show more

Under stacks of photographs of my birth, my sister s birth, and my father s birth, an image of a
little girl, perched on a smooth and cold rock, lay. It was out of place among our birth photos and I
pulled it out to put it among the vacation pictures. A hazy smile tugged at my lips.
I remembered her. A wild girl from the sea, with stormy eyes and seaweed hair. I remembered her
untamed rage and her indestructible heart. My insides squirmed at the memory, at the girl whose
bones snapped and whose blood boiled and whose skin tore. They squirmed at the thought of who I
d become, a blue light locked under a bell jar.
My squirming turned to fidgeting and kicking and screaming and roaring and tearing and red
radical rage. I burned with my regret as fuel. I tore up the fragile skin that held me captive.
My mother and father have sat me down and told me that I was born to put on latex gloves and
operate on the sick, or stand before a judge and make defend the innocent, or swear to protect the
citizens of my city with a gold lacquered badge and gun.
As I held that photograph in my polished fingers, I realized that my fate was not where I had
guessed. That I was not to live a tranquil life among the people who raised me.
I realized that I was meant to be before beasts with bare feet and wide eyes. That my place was
not in offices and cubicles, nor was it among the stars. My fate was entwined in the vines of the
jungle, in the fur of tigers, in the claws

Impact of Hypoxia on the Way We Exercise
Intro Introduction A number of environmental conditions can impact the way we exercise.
Environmental elements can have a huge impact on the performance of exercise, especially
during prolonged submaximal exercise (Hayashi et al, 2005). For example, in situations where
hypoxia is an issue, they can have a detrimental impact on the physiology of aerobic organisms,
including humans. Hypoxia can occur in a number of environmental situations and has a variety of
effects on aerobic organisms. It is essentially the situation where the air has a reduction in the
oxygen content, which can have an obvious detrimental impact on human and animals in
situations where exercise would require more oxygen in the air (Fan et al., 2008). Hypoxia has a
serious impact on the physiology of the human body and its wide variety of functioning. A study
conducted by Fan et al. (2008) illustrated that hypoxia can even have an impact on antioxidant
enzymes and glutathione, showing its potential to negatively affect humans, both as they exercise
and as they are at rest. Still, the relationship between the presence of hypoxia and what it does to
the human body in physiological terms is not as well understood as many scientists in the field
with hope. The purpose of this current research is to further explore hypoxia s impact on the human
body during bouts of submaximal exercise. This study uses an experiment to empirically test and
evaluate the impact of hypoxia on this type of exercise. Thus, the

Neuroblastoma is a life threatening cancer that affects the nervous system (Make A Wish 2012).
Sam always has this passion for baseball and his wish was for a baseball field to be built in his
backyard, which would allow him to play with his friends whenever he wanted. Make A Wish

wish come true. The University of Mississippi and Itawamba Community College s ground crew
decided that they would contribute to building the baseball field. Those in the community

Effects Of Smoking On Children And Children
ntroduction
For many years, second hand smoke has been affecting the lungs of many people. While most of
these people can get away from it, one significant population does not always have that option.
Innocent children and infants are most affected by second hand smoke. Unfortunately, these
adolescents do not know that it is causing major health effects to their underdeveloped bodies.
Children and infants involuntary inhale smoke in their homes and on the streets where they live.
Laws regarding smoking in restaurants, on playgrounds, and on school properties have majorly
decreased the risks. However, it is not limited to those areas. There are more ways to decrease it.
Interventions that reduce second hand smoke in homes where children live and reduce smoking
before, during and after birth will decrease an infant s exposure. Providing counseling, follow up
techniques, and education to parents, or primary caretakers who smoke are two ways that can help
them quit and realize the harmful effects that smoking actually has on their children. Focusing on
the individual who is harmed in these situations is not always the answer. One must focus on the
one who is causing the effects because second hand smoke is not something that children can avoid
themselves.
Intervention Strategy 1: Reduction in second hand smoke in the home
Children spend most of their time in their homes. If parents, older siblings or the primary caretakers
smoke in the house it increases the chance of them

Pisces Constellations
I chose the constellation of Pisces because I am a Pisces and love all things related to the ocean
and the goddess Aphrodite. Pisces is Latin for plural fish. Constellations have always interested
me. Some of my favorite are the big and little dipper. My mother and I used to call them the mother
and daughter of the sky. And the Piscesconstellation looks similar to me. However it s lore is much
more interesting than the mother and daughter of the sky.
It is said that long ago the Goddess Aphrodite and the God Eros who were under the control of a
terrible monster planned a wonderful escape. After many failed attempts they finally figured out the
one way they could escape the monster Typhon, was to jump into the sea and become fish.

Environmental Ethics
Environmental Ethics
To keep our environment healthy, all these element need to work together. There are no global laws
protecting the environment and that is why everyone should practice good ethics when it comes to
the environment. Environmental ethics is the part of environment philosophy which considers
extending the traditional boundaries of ethics from only including hum and to non humans. There
are many ethical decisions that human beings make with respect to the environment. Humans are
been considered of rational agents because they have clear preference, models uncertainty via
expected values, and always to perform the action with the optimal expected outcome of itself. The

It will influence the future generations to why we consider environment has been important, create
opportunities for generation to come, a culture that can be passed on and sense of appreciation of
such an experience (Singer, 2011). This point may not so readily apply to a wider consequentialist
approach, which attributes intrinsic value not only to pleasure or satisfaction, but also to various
objects and processes in the natural environment (Singer, 2011).
John Rawls states that the principle of fairness is important as it applies to individuals the
principle of fairness are a link between the two principles of social or political justice and
individual obligations to comply with specific social practices (Pogge, 2007). By expanding the
scope of what one considers to be an end to include both aspects of nature as well as future
generations, one can transform the implications of Rawls theory (Pogge, 2007). Rawls advances
his theory of justice through what is called the Original Position which is a hypothetical situation
in which all individuals are granted perfect equality and are asked to choose a principle of justice
behind a veil of ignorance, which eliminates their biases (Pogge, 2007). The hypothetical persons
in the Original Position, ignorant of who and what they will be in society and perfectly equal to
one another, are able to truly come to a consensus as to what a just society would be (Pogge, 2007).

Examples Of Oppression In V For Vendetta
Rebellion against Oppression in V for Vendetta V for Vendetta depicts the UK as a fascist police
state in the late 2030s. The movie is set post pandemic after most of the world had been torn
apart by the St. Mary s Virus . The Norsefire party lead by High Chancellor Adam Sutler runs the
country. The people are opposed and driven into conformity by fear. Undesirable individuals such
as those who oppose the Norsefireparty, Muslims, and homosexuals, are imprisoned in
concentration camps where they undergo illegal genetic testing. The protagonist is V, a well
spoken, masked vigilante. V is a survivor of genetics testing whose goal is to lead a revolution
against the oppressive High Chancellor within a year. The movie is exhilarating as it... Show more

At first glance, V seems like a typical hero. He s tongue in cheek approach to crime fighting and
his dialogue quickly attracted me. V is shown originating from a concentration camp where his
silhouette steps out of a fire with screaming with burning vengeance. As more details of his past
is revealed, he draws more empathy. He seemed like a typical hero until I realized his campaign
was growing increasingly violent. V s actions grow darker as he continues to slaughter all his
enemies. He doesn t value preservation of life like typical heroes would, he is solely focused on
abolishing the Norsefire Party at all costs. The imprisonment and torture of Eve Hammond
changed my view on V. I saw him as evil. At the conclusion of the film, my view on V was
conflicted. In one aspect he s fighting against injustice but at the same time, he s blowing up
buildings and hacking and slashing everyone. After taking a holistic view, his actions violent but
justified. In this case, I found the ends do justify the means. Even though V s approach is
borderline terroristic, he was able to nullify the Norsefire party, liberate the people of his state and
also rekindle Evey Hammond. V s complexity make him a very interesting character to

Analysis Of De Sade s The Misfortunes Of Virtue
Whether or not you accede with the themes in Marquis De Sade s Misfortunes of Virtue , there
is no doubt his works are some of the most inciting to have ever been constructed. Although
Marquis debates several beliefs in his works, he focuses on one in The Misfortunes of Virtue that
seems shaky. The theory of Vice versus Virtue in the words of De Sade has no logical aspect to it,
at least to a down to earth humanbeing . De Sade once said, In order to know virtue, we must first
acquaint ourselves with vice. De Sade s conception of vice and virtue is nowhere near what we
perceive it to be. Though, through the utilization of multiple characters, his neutral stance and
erroneous logic, we as readers can sift through the differences and visually perceive the authentic
meaning of vice and virtue by using common day human logic and experiences to construct a
more up to date version of De Sade s Vice and Virtue . Throughout De Sade s Misfortunes of
Virtue his writing is meant to have a neutral stance and come off in a way that De Sade lives
vicariously through the characters in order to display his beliefs. With his characters, De Sade
argues the theory of Vice versus Virtue and attempts to make the example that there simply is no
difference between the two. De Sade believes There is only human kind s selfish goal of self
preservation and seeking pleasure . According to Webster s dictionary, virtue is defined as: the
moral excellence of a person. A morally excellent

Pros And Cons Of Charlie Gordon
Learning about the world is challenging enough, but to unlearn it knowing what is being lost is
even more burdensome. Charlie Gordon is a man that learned the world and lost it all. Is
knowledge admirable while it can be retained or is ignorance bliss when it can t? Knowledge is
excellent, even if it is only for a little while, even if it is retained for a short period because people
know what the world is, even when that knowledgeis lost, people will retain a certain understanding
of the world before they unlearned it. Some say Knowledge is a wonderful tool in life, but if a man
acquires knowledge, but soon unlearns the knowledge yet understands how the world should be,
and then loses it, ignoranceis bliss so the man does not know how people treat them in atrocious
ways, and it shall stay that way for his/her benefit. . All people deserve to acquire Knowledge, so
they have the experience of how life should be. Charlie Gordon acquires knowledge of how the
world is and how people treat people who have mental setbacks. To come from a position where he
is made fun of, to know this, and then back to being treated as a person that has a mental disability,
knowing how he is treated has multiple pros including some cons.
To know information, even if that knowledge hurts you, is useful. Although it may hurt, it is
wonderful because you gain the information. Charlie Gordon learns that his friends are not actually

When the right of lien ends, right of stoppage in transit begins. Now, if the buyer becomes
insolvent after the unpaid seller has started the possession of the goods, the unpaid seller can
resume the possession of goods by exercising his right of stoppage in transit. Duration of transit
(1) Goods are deemed to be in course of transit from the time when they are delivered to a carrier
or other bailee for the purpose of transmission to the buyer, until the buyer or his agent in that
behalf takes delivery of them from such carrier or other bailee. (2) If the buyer or his agent in
that behalf obtains delivery of the goods before their arrival at the appointed destination, the
transit is at an end. (3) If, after the arrival of the goods at the appointed destination, the carrier or
other bailee acknowledges to the buyer or his agent that he holds the goods on his behalf and
continues in possession of them as bailee for the buyer or his agent, the transit is at an end and it
is immaterial that a further destination for the goods may have been indicated by the buyer. (4)
If the goods are rejected by the buyer and the carrier or other bailee continues in possession of
them, the transit is not deemed to be at an end, even if the seller has refused to receive them

Polar Bear Arguments
The Ursus Maritimus, otherwise known as the polar bear, has walked this planet with their massive
webbed paws for hundreds of years. They have sustained many different difficulties in life but the
most recent issue, global warming, is one that these animals just might not overcome on their own.
The polar bears population is rapidly dwindling and scientists discuss why exactly we should
save these giant white sea bears. There are two different sides to this argument. One side is
referred to as the Naturalists. These people believe we need to let nature take its course. They
believe we should not interfere, and instead let the animals and the ecosystem work on its own. On
the other hand, the Anti Naturalists believe we must step in and help preserve the polar bear
population. They believe that we cannot let the Ursus Maritimus die out for a various array of
reasons.
The first reason for saving the polar bears given by the Anti Naturalists is the effect on the food
chain. In the artic, the polar bear is one of the few creatures at the very top, it is a keystone
species. Polar bear s diets consist mainly of one specific marine mammal, the seal. Without the
polar bear the entire population of the seal would rise significantly. With no predators to lower the
population there would be a skyrocket amount of growth and a very small amount of death. This
means that the diet of the seal, which mainly consists of small fish and plankton, would also be
affected negatively. A large

  • 2. Women In The Catholic Church The Sacrament of Holy Orders explains the Catholics who are consecrated to serve and how they differentiate between themselves. A common understanding of priesthood is that God gives his power and authority to provide the ordinances of salvation. While this may be true, many people are not aware of what other roles priests take on and represent. The word Holy , in Holy Orders , means sacred and worthy of respect or devotion. While, the word order appoints an established community or group with a hierarchy, in this case God being the hierarch. In modern times like these the majority of people know that becoming a part of the priesthood is a decision one makes and then enters into a process. Though this may be true now, many do not... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Do this in remembrance of me , signifies a deep meaning that Jesus wanted the priesthood to understand and practice. With these words he not only established the Eucharist and priesthood, he set a tone for the entirety of the Catholic Church. They would no longer rely on practices like animal sacrifice or hereditary lineage, but on grace and salvation. During the same ceremony, Jesus also grants the apostles and in turn priesthood, the ability the power to forgive sins. While many people know that men of the priesthood have this ability, it is not very well known that it was given to them by Jesus in the same evening. In fact, I thought they simply had this ability because they are supposed to represent God here on earth and therefore would have this power, not that Jesus Christ himself directly gave them this ability. The ability to consecrate, offer and minister the Body and Blood of Christ, was also given to priests by ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The European Union And Domestic Legal Systems And The... The concern here was that the lawyers do not have any certifications, schooling, or experience in judging cases. In the new ICS proposal there are changed made, as EU Commissioner Cecilia Malmstrom explains: the judges will be publically appointed in advance. And, like in courts, you won t be able to choose which judges hear your case. Furthermore, we will guarantee there is no conflict of interest. Again, like in domestic and international courts, the judges won t be able to continue any activities which might interfere with their judicial functions. Finally, I want to introduce an Appeal Tribunal. Just like in domestic legal systems and the World Trade Organization. (Malmstrom) This change in the appointment of judges could mean that the public opinion in a case could be more weighted by shifting the power from the companies to the international system. The European Union brings the reforms on ISDS as a solution to a system that was broken. But, there is much discussion about the necessity of a framework like ISDS and the ICS. Especially for high developed countries there might be less reason for an Investor State court since their court systems are already able to make unbiased decisions. European commissioner on Trade, Rupert Schiegelmig, responded to this argument in a debate about the new ICS. Schiegelmich explained that even though these court systems are highly developed, it is very hard to completely eliminate national bias. He adds to that that European ... • 4. Sick Around the World SW June 5, 2013 Sick Around The World Video Summary This movie went around the world to different countries to show the comparisons and differences in healthcare compared to each other and the U.S. The first country that was visited was the United Kingdom. The United Kingdom spends 8.3% of their GDP on healthcare. The citizens pay nothing for premiums, all of it is paid trough taxation. Some services require co pay, but all young people and all elderly are exempt from drug co pays. The United Kingdom calls their healthcare system socialized medicine ; the government provides for and pays for all healthcare. The taxes that Britons pay gets distributed up to different healthcare providers. Since the United Kingdoms system is taxed,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Because of this smart card, Taiwan has the lowest administrative costs in the world. Unfortunately Taiwan is not bringing in enough money to support its healthcare services. The fifth country that was visited was Switzerland. Switzerland spends 11.6% of its GDP on healthcare. Citizens pay $750 a month for premiums. If you are too poor to pay for your premiums, the government will pay. Citizens pay 10% of the cost of services for a co pay. Switzerland also used the social insurance model. 95% of the population already had voluntary insurance when they country switched systems. All citizens are required to have coverage. Switzerland shows that in a high capitalist nation with powerful insurance and pharmaceutical industries, universal coverage is possible. Insurance companies are not allowed to make a profit off of basic care and are not able to select only young and healthy applicants. The government sets the prices on drugs, but the insurers and providers negotiate on all other prices. Switzerland has the second most expensive system behind the U.S. The Swiss do not have gatekeepers, some insurance plans may require them or may give a discount for using them. I really would much rather have one of these systems compared to the one that we have now. Although I do have good insurance, I think some of these methods may be easier for most people. In Excalibur, three of the best scenes are, when Arthur draws the sword from the rock, when the knights of the round table accuse the Queen of having an affair with Lancelot, and when Arthur fights his son, Mordred. The first scene that interested me is when Arthur draws the sword from the rock. This one was fascinating to me because many other of the strongest Knights tried and could not do it. Out of everyone it ended up being Arthur who could draw it. He did it very effortlessly and it made everyone wonder how. Essay about At the Cemetery, Walnut Grove Plantation The forgotten ones at the cemetery, /walnut grove plantation, /south carolina, 1989 The poem at the cemetery, walnut grove plantation, south carolina, 1989 by Lucille Clifton is a six stanza poem with many repetitions throughout the poem conveying the idea of how the slaves that worked in the walnut plantation were forgotten and not honored. The speaker of the poem, who is taking a tour around the plantation and cemetery, expressed anger throughout the poem as the tension slowly escalates ending with repetitions of here lies . Putting all the elements of the poem together, paradox and repetition, it perfectly articulates the underlying meaning of the poem, which is to remember and honor the dead slaves, men and women, whom worked in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One interpretation for this phrase is that people tend to enjoy only the finished product of the plantation but does not have any respect for the slaves that worked there. Another interpretation that can be inferred is that as the speaker gets shown around the plantation by a tour guide, the tour guide does not mention anything about the slaves that were buried there. Other evidence that supports the theme is line 17 18: the inventory lists ten slaves/ but only men were recognized. Because these lines were italicized, it can be assume that the speaker is just reading a sign and is simply stating a historical fact. However, reading into the lines demonstrates how the slaves were dehumanized. The word inventory, which means complete list of items such as property or goods in stock, shows that slaves were only property to slave owners and does not have sort of human quality in them. Another deeper meaning that can be collected from only men alone recognized is the feeling that women slaves were even more mistreated and were not even recognized as an inventory, which can be inferred that women slaves were even lower than male slaves and were not recognized as an object or property. The denial of women slaves existence ties closely to lines 25 28: some of these slaves were women some of them did this honored work. Here, the speaker is telling the readers that not only men worked in this plantation ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Holistic Integrative Community Grassroots Level Essay d.After the diagnosis, the sessions and the place for treatment should be decided being sensitive to the context of the individual, where he/she lives, and any challenges he/she may face to reach the place or seek treatment. The various challenges should be discussed and the professional may decide if he/she wants to include the family or any other protective factors in treatment. e.Finally, the greatest of the individual s mental health needs would be follow up, accessibility and openness during relapse and rehabilitation. The rehabilitation should involve active awareness programs in the community, several sessions over a period of time about their role with respect to this individual and hence, normalize and increase the acceptance for him/her. These are the words of John Dewey, which have led an everlasting impression on my mind. It relates to the idea of lifelong learning, and the knowledge that education is much more than what lies within the curriculum. Whenever I pause by to reflect on my ken of knowledge, I feel that how little I have learnt and that an enormous, unknown and fascinating wealth of knowledge lies before me, yet to be explored. Education is like an edifice based on strong rudiments and strengthened by the fundamentals and practical skills acquired during one s lifetime. So my main goal is to design the next generation innovations in field rather than being just a user of existing technologies and findings. So I intend to pursue Master of Science degree in Automotive software Engineering at your university as the first step towards obtaining a PHD. Nothing is Impossible in Life has always been a motivating force behind all my achievements. An example of this would be when she said, Until then, when I thought of writers, what first came to mind was Mom, hunched over her typewriter, clattering away on her novels and plays and philosophies of life and occasionally receiving a personalized rejection letter. (204) In seventh grade Jeannette is the first person her age to work for the school newspaper, The Maroon Wave and this depicts the imagery in her head. Their living situation involved living in their car and in many crippled housing till they were wanted and had to escape or got kicked out for not paying rent. The juxtapositions show her life. The quote, If you don t want to sink, you better figure out how to swim. (66) shows the comparison of sink and swim . The millennial generation consists of roughly seventy six million people which is the largest generation yet. What sets millennials apart from other generations, is that they are the first generation to be raised with technology. Most notably, the Millennials treat technology as their sixth sense . It is a significant characteristic and skill set that distinguishes them from members of other generations (Alexander Sysko 127). The skill of having technology be our sixth sense has helped millennials immensely when it comes to getting jobs. Growing up in the first generation with technology does have its downside. Unfortunately, growing up with technology has also caused millennials to be one of the laziest generation yet. The invention of the television, and video games like nintendo, xbox, and playstation have caused a lot of the millennial generation to be incredibly lazy. It is not just the technology that has made the millennial generation lazy, it is also how they were raised. The millennials were raised in the trophy era, where no matter what someone does whether it be good or bad, they will always get praised. The Task Of The Translator By Walter Benjamin Walter Benjamin s essay, The Task of the Translator, is illuminating in the way in which it shatters any preconceived ideas that may view the act of translation as diminishing the value of the original. Benjamin has high regard for translation, placing it in the realm of art as a distinct form. He argues that art is not about the audience or the receiver that is, it is not primarily about communication. The purpose of art is not to instil a specific belief, impart information or to entertain certain sentiments in the reader thus, appreciation does not reside in generating a moral by interpreting its content. Likewise, translation cannot be considered to interact with the reader, seeking to communicate the meaning of the original text as the content is not essential in our appreciation of the text. His question assumes the original and the translation as distinct categories, both of which, for him, are works of art. Apart from carrying messages and prolonging the value of texts, what is unique to translation is its potential to express the central reciprocal relationship between languages (72), its kinship to another language and its potential to bring out the pure language where the mutually exclusive elements among languages can mingle and supplement one another (74) and where complementary intentions between two languages can be communicated. Therefore, the translator should not be restrained by the burden of relaying what the original means. Benjamin claims that languages are not strangers to one another, but are, a priori and apart from all historical relationships, interrelated in what they want to express (72). In order to address these issues, the BlueGreen Alliance was formed. The BlueGreen Alliance is the unlikely partnership of The United Steel Workers Union and the environmentalist group Sierra Club, working together in order to build a cleaner and fairer economy . The normally opposing organizations are collaborating to improve environmental policy and expand the number of and quality of jobs in the green economy. Since the BlueGreen Alliance may be the first major collaborative group working to tackle these issues their effectiveness in comparison to other options has not been evaluated. In this paper we will look at the ties between economical and environmental problems, what the BlueGreen Alliance has accomplished, and other alternatives before determining the best course of action to build a cleaner and fairer economy. The BlueGreen Alliance is not a partnership of convenience, but a partnership that works towards spreading awareness about the issues we face when tasked with creating good jobs while also maintaining a safe environment. • 22. Giselle And The Romantic Era The romantic era had begun in the early 19th century and was the most innovative era for the ballet. Known for the reflection of art and literature, the romantic era was the time of fantasy, etherealism and supernaturalism. Female dancers became the superstars of the ballet especially with the introduction of pointe work, the iconic romantic tutu and themes of a lovethat could never be. On a softly lit stage lights flickered over ghostly forms. Throughout the romantic era many innovative features were introduced such as gas lighting, trap doors and fly wires. Gas lighting was used as the transition light from sunshine to moonlight for the ballet acts. Gas lighting created a mood to tell the story of a love that was destined to fail, especially in Giselle. The dark light of the second act filtered across the willis as they haunted the graveyard. Trap doors and fly wires were innovative as it gave the effect of the ballerina s disappearing and flying through the air delicately. The ballet Giselle is a romantic ballet based on a forbidden love between a royal and a commoner. Giselle is a young girl who has a weak heart and falls deeply in love with a royal named Albercht. Giselle has a strong passion for dancing however, her heart limits her from doing what she loves. Later in the ballet she finds out that the man she loves dearly is engaged with another woman. In the romantic era the costuming had a large impact on performances. The costumes complimented the ballerinas. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This ruling was a reprimand for former Attorney General Ashcroft, who said in 2001 that physician assisted suicide was not a legitimate medical purpose and that Oregon doctors would be punished if they helped people die under the law. Justice Anthony Kennedy responded to the ruling saying that the authority claimed by the attorney general is both beyond his expertise and incongruous with the statutory purposes and design. The Supreme Court s ruling was not a final definite statement on federal authority having the power to override state physician assisted suicide laws, it was in its basic form a declaration that the current federal laws did not allow it and did not give the authority to the Attorney General to make a decision like he did. Student Finance In College Essay Applying to university and mapping out your future are both learning experiences themselves, and this all happens before your first day at term as an undergraduate! However, most students forget about the amount of information that they need to learn about student finance and the student loans company for example, how you re going to pay for your course fees, accommodation, textbooks and live during your time studying. Although we all wish that these funds somehow appeared into our bank accounts, with no questions asked and a smiley face that isn t going to happen. This is all that you need to know about student finance, and why it is important to learn them in advance of applying. Firstly, what is student finance? Student finance, part of the student loans company, is a loan system, in connection with the government that helps students (no matter how old they are, from the age of 18 and up to 60) with their fees. This financial support is different from standard loans, grants or scholarships. Student finance initially pays your tuition fees the amount it costs to solely be allowed on the course at your institution, and at the moment they can be as high as ВЈ9,000 a year. Any student above the age of 18, who is studying at a higher education institution or course, is able to apply for student finance to pay their course fees for them, and then pay back the loan later on after the course has finished. • 26. Organic Essay Vs Organic Farming The topic that I chose to focus on for my research paper is on the practices used in both organically and conventionally grown foods. More specifically, I focus on the sustainability of the two different methods and whether or not one is more sustainable than the other in terms of soil health and crop output/production. The question that I asked in order to help develop my research is Is organic farmingmore sustainable and healthy than conventional farming methods? My stance on the matter is that organic farming methods are not only healthier than conventional methods but they are also more sustainable for future farming. Before reading my research paper, my readers will have to understand the different farming techniques and methods used in both conventional and organic farming. They will also need to know the types of pesticides used during both practices and whether or not these pesticides and chemicals are harmful to the human body. This can be best explained by Paul Maders article Soil Fertility and Biodiversity in Organic Farming. In this article he discusses the farming methods used in organic foods and conventional foods. This article also discusses the nutritional difference between the two types of growing foods and effect that both have on soil, crop yields and biodiversity within organic farms. This article helps the reader to understand the process in which these two different methods produce food and the many factors that go into the production of both. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Badian first gives Goethe s explanation of the mosaic. Goethe believes that Alexander appears as a conqueror while Darius is in horror. Badian, in this paper, attempts to show that Darius is in the prominent position and Alexander does not appear a conqueror or a hero. Badian starts his argument by discussing the similarities of a realistic action painting, like this Mosaic, and a snapshot. This means that the artist is focusing on one moment in time, and chooses what he wants to show. Badian then start to talk about the mosaic. He shows how the movement is from right to left, or... Alexander, however, cannot seem to be able to control his horse and his helmet has fallen off. This makes him appear as unheroic. The tree in the mosaic is another piece of Baldin s argument. In order for Darius to use his cavalry, Darius cleared the ground of the battlefield. This means the tree in the composition was obvious added by the artists and therefore must have a meaning. One interpretation Baldin gives is that the tree signifies the destruction of Alexander s wars. Badian ends by discussing the artist. He identifies the commissioner as Cassander, a King of Macadoia from 305 297 BC, and who Alexander treated poorly. Badian believes this poor treatment caused Cassander to have a bias while commissioning the mosaic. Therefore, he wanted a piece that did not glorify Alexander, even if he won every war against the persians. The other quantum aspect to this computer is that the quantum states may overlap with neighboring magnets, which to put straightforwardly, means that they can act collectively [11]. This is important because there could be a scenario where an individual magnet flipping would cause the energy state to increase while several flipping at the same time would cause the energy state to decrease [11]. This switch of several simultaneously would ordinarily be highly unlikely, but due to the quantum states overlapping there is a much higher probability of this occurring [11]. Though cooling the chip down to near absolute zero the magnets will realign themselves many times, each time at a lower energy state, eventually reaching what is very likely the correct solution [10] To account for the fact that it isn t guaranteed to be the best answer the computer will return several values scaled to show which if the answers is optimal [10]. The first proximate cause to deforestation is infrastructure expansion (Geist Lambin, 2002, p. 144). This refers to transportation (roads), private and public markets, rural and urban settlements, and private and public services (water lines, oil exploitation, etc...) (Geist Lambin, 2002, p. 144). The next cause is agricultural expansion, which includes, large or small scale cultivations, shifting cultivations (slash and burn), and, of course, cattle ranching. Wood extractions for industrial and domestic purposes are other proximate causes to this issue. These issues may be exacerbated by mismanagement of central governments, heavy political and economic pressures, widespread corruption, cronyism (appointing familiars to positions of authority), and illegal logging operations (Speth Haas, 2006, p. 30). Corruption and illegal extracting activities are especially problematic because they allow for further abuse and destruction to this environment. • 42. Gender Issues Of Danish Sports Organizations In Gertrud Pfister s article, Gender Issues in Danish Sports Organizations Experiences, Attitudes and Evaluations, there is a discussion as to whether women are indeed treated differently in higher positions of power in Denmark. Pfister uses statistics and studies to prove her argument that women are indeed treated differently and presented differently in the organizations. She even begins to touch on the fact that men and women are portrayed wrongly in the studies she talks about. Throughout the article women are presented in a mann that suggests they could not possibly be an ideal leader in the ways that men can nor can they deal with responsibilities of such a job. Pfister makes Denmark s position on women being equal to men and deserving of the same opportunities as them known but adds that they re still under represented (27).Women are free to join the same workforces as men and partake in the same activities as men but how they are treated within these occupations is what she finds compelling. Pfister aims to identify reasons for the existing gender hierarchy (27) and accomplishes this by using the results of quantitive surveys on Danish sports leaders performed by herself, her peers and those who have wished to investigate this topic as well. We as readers can see for ourselves that throughout the world the power appears to be in the hands of men (27). For example, how many world leaders do we see that are of the female sex? Many say that it draws on the epicness of its source material, William Shakespeare s timeless play Hamlet . While the themes of revenge and death are represented in Lion King , it is toned down in order to appeal to the primary target audience of children. One message directed towards the audience of children and adults is how natural enemies can cooperate and even become friends, as evidenced in the friendship of Timon, Pumbaa, and Simba. Simba, the prince of Pride Rock, is destined to be the King after his father, but the representative of manipulation and evil, Simba s uncle Scar, stages a takeover by murdering Simba s father, Mufasa, and convincing ... The sun smoldered in silence. Centered in a quiet oasis, the blue beast howled. It stretched out before me like the land was coated in oil paints: cerulean and cyan, electric and Egyptian, teal and turquoise. The moment that I stood before this righteous beast was captured and bottled up in my beloved father s camera. This flimsy piece of paper is a portal. It is a portal to a girl who left her worries at the shore, on that smooth and cold rock. Who left the marks of her bare feet across the velvety sands. Who embraced the ocean like it was a bed of sapphire, silk sheets. Who let the frigid ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Under stacks of photographs of my birth, my sister s birth, and my father s birth, an image of a little girl, perched on a smooth and cold rock, lay. It was out of place among our birth photos and I pulled it out to put it among the vacation pictures. A hazy smile tugged at my lips. I remembered her. A wild girl from the sea, with stormy eyes and seaweed hair. I remembered her untamed rage and her indestructible heart. My insides squirmed at the memory, at the girl whose bones snapped and whose blood boiled and whose skin tore. They squirmed at the thought of who I d become, a blue light locked under a bell jar. My squirming turned to fidgeting and kicking and screaming and roaring and tearing and red radical rage. I burned with my regret as fuel. I tore up the fragile skin that held me captive. My mother and father have sat me down and told me that I was born to put on latex gloves and operate on the sick, or stand before a judge and make defend the innocent, or swear to protect the citizens of my city with a gold lacquered badge and gun. As I held that photograph in my polished fingers, I realized that my fate was not where I had guessed. That I was not to live a tranquil life among the people who raised me. I realized that I was meant to be before beasts with bare feet and wide eyes. That my place was not in offices and cubicles, nor was it among the stars. • 46. Impact of Hypoxia on the Way We Exercise Intro Introduction A number of environmental conditions can impact the way we exercise. Environmental elements can have a huge impact on the performance of exercise, especially during prolonged submaximal exercise (Hayashi et al, 2005). For example, in situations where hypoxia is an issue, they can have a detrimental impact on the physiology of aerobic organisms, including humans. Hypoxia can occur in a number of environmental situations and has a variety of effects on aerobic organisms. It is essentially the situation where the air has a reduction in the oxygen content, which can have an obvious detrimental impact on human and animals in situations where exercise would require more oxygen in the air (Fan et al., 2008). Hypoxia has a serious impact on the physiology of the human body and its wide variety of functioning. A study conducted by Fan et al. (2008) illustrated that hypoxia can even have an impact on antioxidant enzymes and glutathione, showing its potential to negatively affect humans, both as they exercise and as they are at rest. Still, the relationship between the presence of hypoxia and what it does to the human body in physiological terms is not as well understood as many scientists in the field with hope. The purpose of this current research is to further explore hypoxia s impact on the human body during bouts of submaximal exercise. This study uses an experiment to empirically test and evaluate the impact of hypoxia on this type of exercise. Thus, the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 48. Effects Of Smoking On Children And Children ntroduction For many years, second hand smoke has been affecting the lungs of many people. While most of these people can get away from it, one significant population does not always have that option. Innocent children and infants are most affected by second hand smoke. Unfortunately, these adolescents do not know that it is causing major health effects to their underdeveloped bodies. Children and infants involuntary inhale smoke in their homes and on the streets where they live. Laws regarding smoking in restaurants, on playgrounds, and on school properties have majorly decreased the risks. However, it is not limited to those areas. There are more ways to decrease it. Interventions that reduce second hand smoke in homes where children live and reduce smoking before, during and after birth will decrease an infant s exposure. Providing counseling, follow up techniques, and education to parents, or primary caretakers who smoke are two ways that can help them quit and realize the harmful effects that smoking actually has on their children. Focusing on the individual who is harmed in these situations is not always the answer. One must focus on the one who is causing the effects because second hand smoke is not something that children can avoid themselves. Intervention Strategy 1: Reduction in second hand smoke in the home Children spend most of their time in their homes. If parents, older siblings or the primary caretakers smoke in the house it increases the chance of them ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

John Rawls states that the principle of fairness is important as it applies to individuals the principle of fairness are a link between the two principles of social or political justice and individual obligations to comply with specific social practices (Pogge, 2007). V is shown originating from a concentration camp where his silhouette steps out of a fire with screaming with burning vengeance. As more details of his past is revealed, he draws more empathy. He seemed like a typical hero until I realized his campaign was growing increasingly violent. V s actions grow darker as he continues to slaughter all his enemies. He doesn t value preservation of life like typical heroes would, he is solely focused on abolishing the Norsefire Party at all costs. The imprisonment and torture of Eve Hammond changed my view on V. I saw him as evil. At the conclusion of the film, my view on V was conflicted. In one aspect he s fighting against injustice but at the same time, he s blowing up buildings and hacking and slashing everyone. After taking a holistic view, his actions violent but justified. Analysis Of De Sade s The Misfortunes Of Virtue Whether or not you accede with the themes in Marquis De Sade s Misfortunes of Virtue , there is no doubt his works are some of the most inciting to have ever been constructed. Although Marquis debates several beliefs in his works, he focuses on one in The Misfortunes of Virtue that seems shaky. The theory of Vice versus Virtue in the words of De Sade has no logical aspect to it, at least to a down to earth humanbeing . De Sade once said, In order to know virtue, we must first acquaint ourselves with vice. De Sade s conception of vice and virtue is nowhere near what we perceive it to be. Though, through the utilization of multiple characters, his neutral stance and erroneous logic, we as readers can sift through the differences and visually perceive the authentic meaning of vice and virtue by using common day human logic and experiences to construct a more up to date version of De Sade s Vice and Virtue . Throughout De Sade s Misfortunes of Virtue his writing is meant to have a neutral stance and come off in a way that De Sade lives vicariously through the characters in order to display his beliefs. With his characters, De Sade argues the theory of Vice versus Virtue and attempts to make the example that there simply is no difference between the two. De Sade believes There is only human kind s selfish goal of self preservation and seeking pleasure . According to Webster s dictionary, virtue is defined as: the moral excellence of a person. They have sustained many different difficulties in life but the most recent issue, global warming, is one that these animals just might not overcome on their own. The polar bears population is rapidly dwindling and scientists discuss why exactly we should save these giant white sea bears. There are two different sides to this argument. One side is referred to as the Naturalists. These people believe we need to let nature take its course. They believe we should not interfere, and instead let the animals and the ecosystem work on its own. On the other hand, the Anti Naturalists believe we must step in and help preserve the polar bear population. They believe that we cannot let the Ursus Maritimus die out for a various array of reasons. The first reason for saving the polar bears given by the Anti Naturalists is the effect on the food chain. In the artic, the polar bear is one of the few creatures at the very top, it is a keystone species. Polar bear s diets consist mainly of one specific marine mammal, the seal. Without the polar bear the entire population of the seal would rise significantly. With no predators to lower the population there would be a skyrocket amount of growth and a very small amount of death. This means that the diet of the seal, which mainly consists of small fish and plankton, would also be affected negatively. A large ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
