Persuasive Speech On Freedom Of Speech
Recently I was reflecting on what our country has come to. Professional athletes kneeling and
disrespecting our flag, in an alleged effort to protest their beliefs, but are protected by their freedom of
speech. Our country split apart by our most recent presidential election, by the verbal hate people
spoke or continue to speak or post on social media, however, are protected by their freedom of speech.
All of the sudden a bigger reality hit home, and restored my faith in America and humanity. You see
on Friday, August 25, 2017, the 2nd Friday after school started, hurricane Harvey hit my small town of
Katy, Texas. My mom, dad, sister, uncle, and myself stayed in our house during the storm. We lost
power in our house for three days. We were the first street to flood in our subdivision, leaving us
trapped and unable to go anywhere, and the last street to drain, leaving us the last street to get out once
the water receded. On the second and third day we could hear airboat rescues in the front of our
neighborhood, as they were literally in our back yard. When we were finally able to get out of the
house and drive to the store for more gas we passed dozens of houses that had been flooded with 18
inches to 4 feet of water. It was heart wrenching and devastating. The mountains of sheetrock,
cabinets, personal belongings on the side of the rode on almost every house in our neighborhood was
sitting at the curb in total despair. Once we were able to get out of our neighborhood

Thomas Hobbes Theory Of Natural Law
For many years now, political philosophy has been dealing with ideas on how to make society more
moral, unprejudiced and just. Within this concept is whether laws and rules created in society are
moral and fair and how these can vary between human beings and traditions. Therefore the whole
notion of Natural Law governing society has been reached from different conclusions, which in turn
sees Thomas Hobbes social contract theory as opposing to St. Thomas Aquinas theory of natural law.
Yet this does not change the fact that many Western democracies base their moral decision making
within Hobbes concept. (Kenney, 2005)
The theory formulated by Hobbes, argued that the laws of nature are to be seen as divine law, in which
all human beings are bound by these basic natural laws of self preservation which directs them to the
way of the good. (Murphy, 2011)
Hobbes rejected the concept of higher law and argued that the citizens ought to accept the traditional
laws and principles of their state even if they were oppressive in order to keep peace and security.
(Kraynak, 1990)
In contrast to this, St. Thomas Aquinas, who was heavily influenced by Aristotle s ideas of universal
and conventional law and expanded and developed them. (Vieru, 2010)
His ideas centre his notion of natural law, with his knowledge of God. He bases his theory of natural
law in the concept of an eternal law, which is in God. For Aquinas, law is an order of reason from God
for all of the community. (Summa

The Canadian Health Care System
In the book on a citizens guidelines to policy and politics, Katherine Fierlbeck argues that The 1983
Canada Health Act replaced the 1947 Hospital Insurance and Diagnostic Services act because of the
shift from a system of 50 50 federal provincial cost sharing to a system of block funding established in
Ottawa in 1977 (Fierlbeck 2011, pg.20). Until the period of the mid 1980 s, the Canadian health care
system is to be categorized in a disarray, having no foundation to components and accomplishment.
The system is to rely mainly on cost sharing; whereby in a health insurance policy only a portion is
paid by the health insurance. While enabling the insured party to pay a portion of the price of covered
services. In this case, cost sharing is based on 50 50 provincial and federal cost sharing agreement to a
fault. By Ottawa giving tax transfers to the provinces in replacement of direct transfers, but the federal
government had no capacity to conceal cash. This in return is able to affect provinces because it
deprived the federal government effective, efficient, and responsive measure of provinces holding the
five principles of the Canada health care. According to About Canada Health Care, Pat Armstrong and
Hugh Armstrong speaks about the five principles of health care, which are; Public administration,
Comprehensiveness, Universality, Portability, and Accessibility (Pat Armstrong Hugh Armstrong
2008, pg.28). These five principles holds the provinces accountable to the

Giant Panda Decline
This world may soon lose something loved by almost all of humanity. The Giant panda, known to be
one of the cutest creatures in the world, inhabiting the bamboo forests of central China and many zoos
across the world. The Giant panda has a bear like body shape with black fur around the eyes, ears,
legs, arms, and shoulders, while the rest of the fur is white. The Chinese consider the Giant panda
almost sacred and have done so for a long time, trying their best to not interfere with the animal. This
beautiful creature is dying out because of slow mating patterns and habitat destruction. If the world
does nothing to help, then these creatures will be lost forever. The time has come for people to realise
that it is very important to save this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The world is doing many things to help prevent the extinction of pandas, creating new reserves and
extending existing ones, artificially inseminating pandas to increase the overall reproductive rate, and
connecting the isolated patches of forests to help pandas find new food sources. The Giant panda can
easily be saved from following the fate of many other extinct animals. If only everybody helped out
by doing just a little each day international organizations and the Chinese government can definitely

How To Build A Seatbelt
Seatbelts contain two main parts, a lap belt and a shoulder belt and are secured to the frame of the car.
They have been proven to reduce and prevent injury in the event of a car accident by keeping the
passenger in their seat. In addition, seatbelts can extend and retract however, in the likelihood of a
collision, the belt tightens up to hold the passenger in place so that they do not go through the
windshield when the car goes to a sudden stop.
Newton s first law of motion states that an object will remain at rest, or will continue with a constant
velocity, unless an unbalanced force acts upon it. When a car comes to an abrupt stop, the passenger
moves forward and stays in this motion until an unbalanced force acts upon it. The seatbelt

Earl Warren s Supreme Court Rulings
Earl Warren s Supreme Court rulings helped various rights for many Americans, most of which are
still used and enforced today. The Warren s Court ruling in Brown v. Board of Education ruled that
segregation in public schools as unconstitutional. It s rulings on Mapp v. Ohio ended up resulting in
the exclusionary rule. The rule made any evidence obtained illegally as inadmissible in court. In
Reynold s v. Sims required that legislative districts across states be made as equal as possible in
population. Miranda v. Arizona resulted that your rights be read to you upon arrest or questioning.
Each of these court cases helped to enforce and enhance the rights of many Americans. The case
known as Brown v. Board of Education was actually the name that was given to five separate cases
that were heard by the U.S. Supreme Court (History Brown v. Board of Education Re enactment). The
cases were all combined because each case sought out desegregation as the remedy for grossly
inadequate conditions in segregated black schools (Brown v. Board of Education). When meeting to
decide the case, the Justices were divided over the issues that were raised. They were unable to come
to a conclusion by June 1953 the end of the Courts 1952 1953 term. The Justices decided to rehear the
case again in December. During that time, Chief Justice Fred Vinson died and was replaced by Earl
Warren. When the case was reheard in December 1953, Chief Justice Earl Warren was able to bring all

Passion For Research Paper
Passion can be a strong word, but it s a strong emotion. Passion is what drives people, keeps them
motivated. Determination and passion go hand in hand. I have a lot of passion for guard. When I first
joined, I was so bad that I just wanted to quit. I thought I was horrible. I kept trying and trying but it
still hadn t clicked for me yet. I had bruises up and down my arms, cuts on my wrists, and I struggled
to catch everything. Other people told me I was okay, but I wanted to be good. I was determined to be
great, and now I m going to strive for awesome. That passion and determination for this activity grew
stronger and stronger, as I was trying so hard to be good at it. I felt like quitting, but deep down I

Commitment is the one thing that some people struggle with from time to time. We all have our
moments where we want to give up but we can t in to that emotion. I ve seen people quit just because
they didn t like their drill, or because they didn t want to put in the time to do the work. Quitting isn t
always the answer. Being physically unable to do it is a different story. Last winter was so stressful for
me, simply because I started the season late and I had to learn both drill and work. It was my second
season in so I wasn t new but I was still young. Sometimes I lack in self confidence when it comes to
guard, so I was honestly terrified. There were moments where I was super stressed out, but I didn t
want to let my team down so I pushed through. But having that opportunity that could ve easily been
given to someone else was so special to me. I thank you Mr. Brian Jones for giving me the opportunity
to be a part of an amazing team. I was able to earn that medal because of you. I wouldn t have been
able to do that without your help. Same for this winter. I am so terribly sorry that I could not finish this
season. But I just didn t know when I would be any better, plus there are a lot of other health and
personal reasons that contributed to me not continuing this season. But I will forever be grateful that
you gave me the opportunities that you did. Everyone calls you dad, and I know it s a joking matter,
but you are an amazing man Mr. Jones. You are the best band director ever!! And I will work on my
commitment, but I didn t continue just because I didn t want to do it anymore. I love guard with all of
my heart. Sometimes I want to cry when I watch the videos, because I wish I was up there with them
performing. I miss it so much, and hopefully I will be better by this

Dismissal Meeting 2
DISMISSAL MEETING
PROPOSE THREE (3) WAYS THAT A MANAGER CAN COPE WITH ANY NEGATIVE
EMOTIONS THAT MAY ACCOMPANY AN EMPLOYEE LAYOFF. One way that a manager can
help ease the pain of an employee that s been laid off is to grant the employee a generous severance
package which could provide economic benefits that reflects management s compassion and
understanding of the impact of the termination. Although the trend is for companies to offer less in
severance payments, 93 percent of them require employees to sign releases of liability in order to
receive severance pay. A great way to help soften the blow of a layoff is for the company or manager

You should seek out the employee s explanation or interpretation of events, allow them to vent a little
bit without interrupting them. Making it clear that the decision is final is very important also because
this way it s easier to keep your cool and keep control of the situation. Briefly running through the
benefits ensures the employee understands his vacation pay, separation pay and continuation of health
insurance and life insurance that you are offering. You also need to explain the job reference policy to
the employee like if the policy is to provide only job title, dates of employment, and salary history.
The final thing to do during the meeting is to collect the company s property like keys, cell phones,
company car, company credit cards and any other property belonging to the company.

The employer will provide the laid off employee one week s pay for every year that the employee has

Pyramid Schemes
Scams are happening all around us, and we often don t even notice them. Pyramid schemes are very
harmful towards investors, and are hard to watch out for unless you know exactly what they are, why
they fail, the effect of the failure, common victims, how to avoid them, and how to prevent them from
spreading. More individuals are hurt than are helped when dealing with these scams. Individuals
should be more informed about pyramid schemes, because they can be easily disguised.

These schemes can also hurt the economy because of the loans taken out to pay off for the starter kits
needed to recruit new members. If the scheme collapses, individuals could fall into poverty and lose
their possessions. Relationships could also be broken if people start recruiting friends and/or spouses
into the scheme. Pyramid schemes have caused divorces and suicides because of the broken trust
between the bonds.
Select victims are usually chosen for pyramid schemes. Individuals with certain types of personalities
are more likely to get drawn into a scheme. One common target for scammers, says Swierczynski, is
the easygoing people pleaser . It s the kind of person who would rather buy an entire new sump pump
system than insult a stranger (Hobson). In this case, it pays not to be so friendly and to stand up for
yourself by saying no (Hobson). Con artists are good at figuring out what pushes an individual off the
edge, and they use that against him/her. Individuals, who are lonely, vulnerable, or desperate, make
scamming more accessible. People in dire straits are also very vulnerable to scams (Hobson). Those
who are vulnerable might have recently had a tragic death in the family or are in uncontrollable debt
(Hobson). Leaders of these schemes also look for people who wear their heart and brain on their
sleeve (Hobson). Individuals who talk about what s going on in their lives with people they don t

Katsu Kokichi’S Autobiography, “Musui’S Story,” Documents
Katsu Kokichi s autobiography, Musui s Story, documents the life of a samurai in Japan s late
Tokugawa period who adopted the name Musui in his retirement. Katsu is something of a black sheep
within his family, being largely uneducated and deemed unfit for the bureaucratic office s samurai of
his standing were expected to hold. As such, he typifies in many ways the lower ronin, or masterless
samurai, many of whom famously led roaming, directionless lives and wreaked havoc among the
urban poor and merchant classes. The novel addresses the decaying power of samurai throughout the
Tokugawa period and depicts their struggle to find purpose. Throughout the story, Katsu is impacted
by three interconnected systems of power that impact his life ... Show more content on

However, the challenges of this economic power come through forms of temptations that plagued
Japanese men at the time. These include drinking, smoking, gambling, and prostitution. For instance,
during his youth, Katsu was [tricked] into going with [Karoku] to the pleasure quarters in the
Yoshiwara. [He] enjoyed himself immensely and after that went every night. [He] used up all his
money (Musui 44). In this section, Katsu exhibits a lack of self control over his money. His behavior
is representative of many low level samurai throughout Tokugawa Japan. These irresponsible
economic decisions combine with pre existing financial disparity to place samurai largely in debt.
Similarly, these districts were often seen as an escape for samurai and members of the lower class. Just
before Katsu has fled home for the second time, he says To take my mind off my woes, I went to the
Yoshiwara (Musui 60). Many samurai were disheartened by the fact they were indebted to merchants
and had no true purpose in life. As an escape, they fled to districts like the Yoshiwara. Ultimately,
economic power is created by a flourishing economy and is challenged by the temptations of man.
Domestic power comes from family lineage and is used to determine social status/class. The Japanese
class system prohibits individuals from moving between classes to maintain the power of the Daimyo
and Shogun. Moreover, domestic power resides in the level of respect granted to

Essay on Trojan Sofa
The Trojan Sofa
Bernard MacLaverty brings us The Trojan Sofa , a short story that incorporates a corrosive
relationship between a boy and his father, Niall and Da. The title itself suggests that deceit and
deception is a feature of the story, as it turns out, this is two fold. MacLaverty has innovatively chosen
to use the first person narrative mode to enable the reader to become much more familiar with Niall
and warm to him as a character. With Niall being the narrator, he speaks sincerely of Da but the reader
is forced to read between the lines to ascertain just how sincere Da is towards Niall.

reader, for Niall himself is in the dark twofold; he has been duped into spending a whole night in total
darkness in a sofa with the intention of burglarising the major s house for the patriotic reasons Da has
convinced him of but more upsettingly, we can see that Niall is being used as a pawn by Da to further
his criminal shenanigans, without Niall, Da could not pull off his devious schemes.
We are further convinced that Niall is being deceived by Da when it turns out that the British army
major is in fact an architect. Niall sees the framed diploma, but has been brainwashed so much that he
doesn t consider that the architecture diploma signifies that the major may not be a major at all.
Whether Da loves Niall or not is never in question, but Da is risking his long term bond with him, as
Niall becomes savvy to the real nature of the business he is involved in it could go one of two ways;
Da had better hope he has groomed Niall well enough to take the same outlook as himself. Although it
is never mentioned, the theme of deceit and betrayal between the two characters run through this

Taxing Fast Food
The first reason that the government should place tax on fast food is because it is seriously dangerous
for our health. As we all know, eating a lot of unhealthy food such as fast food can lead to obesity
which is a really big problem in the US. That is why placing tax on fast food would really discourage
people from eating unhealthy food. However, taxing fast food may not stop people from eating it
totally, but it will certainly reduce the consumption of fast food or unhealthy food. As a matter of fact,
the main reason behind buying fast food or unhealthy food is because it is not expensive; it won t cost
people a lot of money to get it. As well, nobody buys expensive food every day, what we can see in
real life people prefer to buy low

The Aquariums Of Pyongyang Summary
The Aquariums of Pyongyang by Kang Chol Hwan is a memoir about a young boy s life in a North
Korean gulag during the dictatorship of Kim Il sung. His story is profoundly touching, recounting his
glorious childhood, sudden imprisonment in a labor camp, and successful escape to South Korea. The
memoir gives insight to the life of North Koreans from the 1960s to the present, as the dictatorship
tightens and the economy fails. The account is the first of its kind and is filled with the unimaginable
horrors that have faced generations of North Koreans. Along with his personal story, the author offers
his personal criticisms of the government and presents the difficulties in solving the problems that

instead of only hearing his story and dismissing it as an isolated occurrence. When the memoir was

Though the author s standpoint would seemingly be clear, considering he was on the brink of
starvation for ten years in an internment camp, he brings up the shortfalls of offering aid. He believes
the issue of distributing food is the only issue up to debate. Most of the food would be given to the
ever growing army and the citizens would be left to subsist on meager rations. Additionally, the aid
would allow the government to use its funds for military and self serving interests. He acknowledges
that, with a situation such as that in North Korea, aiding the population also means maintaining the
regime. This problem is just one example of the difficulty of implementing human rights in deprived
areas. The question is never whether or not the citizens deserve human rights; rather, it is a question of
how to support the people without supporting the oppressive regime as

one organic, on a typical farm with non modified seeds and animals and one genetically modified

Australian Gold Rush
Introduction:
The gold rush era was a significant event in Australian history. The Australian gold rush first started
during May 1851 in Bathurst after Edward Hargraves found a grain of gold in a waterhole. The gold
rush was a period of time for immigration of workers locally and from overseas and marked the start
of significant changes in the Australian economy.
Where and why did the gold rush occur?
Hargraves thought there were similarities in the geological features between Australia and Californian
Goldfields where he had just returned from. He was proven to be correct and quickly registered his
claims with local authorities. The first Gold Fields in NSW where given the name of Ophir and was
appointed a Commission of Land and received a reward of 10,000 pounds and a life pension. Ophir

The Primary Causes For World War I
(Based on the World War I Video) What were the primary causes for World War I? (Franco Prussian
War; Alliances; Archduke Franz Ferdinand) The Assassination of Archduke Ferdinand was a spark
that helped light the fire of tension in the world, while the Franco Prussian war helped build tensions

War on Russia to help defend Austria Hungary. Why did it become a World War? What countries and
territories became involved? It was the World War because it was one of the largest ongoing wars in
history that covered an entire continent and involvement even stretched across the Atlantic as the U.S.

Analysis Of The Literary Works Of Bash Ō, Khayyam, And Tagore
The World is an Image
Image, as a word, originates from Latin imago which means to imitate (Varshney 86). Hence, imagery
in literature is an artificial imitation of the external form of an object (Varshney 86). In other words, an
image is a form of expressing thoughts and feelings through representing reality by employing visual
expressions. In the literary works of Bashō, Khayyám, and Tagore, natural imagery play a
fundamental role in illustrating inner thoughts, vocalizing silent feelings, and dramatizing frozen
emotions. A good deal of Western scholarship on the works of Bashō, Omar Khayyám, and Tagore
describe the employment(s) of imagery (among other literary techniques) in their poems and prose as
avant grade, which minimizes the literary traditions of the East and narrowly historicizes the notion of
avant grade. If avant grade, as a western concept, means expressing thoughts and emotions through
unorthodox or untraditional approaches, then it cannot be applied to the works of Basho, Khayyam,
and Tagore without ignoring the literary past. As Kawamoto declares, nothing is absolutely new it can
be new only when it is compared to something else that has already existed (Kawamoto 712).
Language, in itself, is traditional it can evolve and develop, but it cannot break roots with the past.
Imagist poetry thrives within short formulated poems, like in the works of Basho and Omar Khayyam,

Becoming A Nurse
The effect of working and studying to become a nurse at the same time is very intimidating. There is
some truth to it, making money while working towards achieving the educational goals, like getting
the first degree or post degree. Especially working in the same field of study. IT also true that working
the same time as schooling, will give us the opportunity to develop and improve my management
skills since I will be working and attending school simultaneously. It may seem like a challenge, and
some advantages so many people try it but sometimes failed due to health problems, lack of social life,

The National Transportation Safety Board
The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) investigation into an aircraft accident on April 28,
1988, a Boeing 737 200, N73711, operated by Aloha Airlines Inc., as flight 243, exhibited signs of
human error. The aircraft experienced an explosive decompression and structural failure while flying
from Hilo to Honolulu, Hawaii. Approximately 18 feet from the cabin skin and structure aft of the
cabin entrance door and above the passenger floor line separated from the airplane during flight
(National Transportation Safety Board, 1989). The NTSB determined that the probable cause of this
accident was the failure of the Aloha Airlines maintenance program to detect the presence of
significant disbonding and fatigue damage which ultimately led to failure of the lap joint a S 10L and
the separation of the fuselage upper lobe (National Transportation Safety Board, 1989). There were
other contributing factors, for example, failure of management to supervise properly its maintenance
force and the failure of governing officials to ensure that all directives and inspections were complied
with by the FAA (National Transportation Safety Board, 1989). On September 28, 2007 American
Airlines flight 1400 experienced an in flight engine fire during departure climb from Lambert St.

something to take into consideration, but there are many positives in getting this type of surgery. Body

The Graveyard book, written by Neil Gaiman is a stupendously well crafted book detailing the life of
Nobody Owens, or Bod, a boy whose family has been ruthlessly slaughtered. Bod crawls to the
graveyard next to his house, where the inhabitant ghosts take him in and adopt him, where he lives
until Bod decides that he wants to live with his own kind: the living. While it is true that all books
open up worlds of literature, no book does it better than the Graveyard book of leaving you with an
utterly unforgettable experience you will never find in any other book. The Graveyard book
accomplishes this task thorough it s exhilarating, hard to put down nature, it s age appropriate writing
style, it s inspirational plotline, and lastly, it s extremely creative ideas and various concepts found
throughout the book.
A book, no matter what kind of book, always has an age range. In this case, the Graveyard book s age
range is completely open to all ages, especially our age range. While The Graveyard Book will
entertain people of all ages, it s especially a tale for children, says NYtimes book reviewer Monica

Graveyard book is derived from another book, Gaiman still manages to be at his absolute best,
creating something original from a derived plotline. The Jungle Book has many characters, problems,
resolutions, all adding up to an excellent story, but the Graveyard Book takes it to a whole new level,

How Michelle Bachelet Changed Chile
Michelle Bachelet, president of Chile, is an avid feminist and supports equal rights for both genders,
as well as marriage equality. Bachelet, born in Santiago, is Chile s first female president, being elected
in 2006 and reelected in 2014. Bachelet stood her ground against opposition in women s rights.
Michelle talks of gender equality being a good business because it, in an economical sense, will boost
economy and jobs. Michelle received her surgical degree and college. Michelle wants those who are in
need of abortions to receive them. Bachelet has also passed laws that help those in need of abortions,
receive them. Michelle changed the standard of Chile because before she was elected, gender equality
was almost non existent, abortions were illegal, and job conditions were unacceptable. Bachelet has
moved Chile in a good direction.
Michelle Bachelet was born in Santiago to parents, Alberto Bachelet, a General in the Chilean Air
Force, and Angela Jeria, an anthropologist. Throughout her life she lived in Quintero with them until
her father was tortured and excessively interrogated to the extent of him dying in March of 1974, the
year after this Bachelet and her mother were expelled from Chile. Michelle began her secondary
studies at Javiera Carrera High School, where she was a good student and active in her studies.

The Rationalization of the South African Society
Modernity revolves around the rational application of scientific method to certain aspects of life. This
could be done through the development of governmental regulations, bureaucratic observation, and
the erosion of traditional values (Beck, Lash Giddens, 1997). New thought processes and the increase
in the application medicine and technology have played important roles in the concept of rationalism
(Bilton et al, 2002). The character of modern society could be defined by rationalism (Macionis
Plummer, 2012: 123); this can be clearly seen in the South African rational social organization context
from hunter gatherer days to modern day society. An example of this would be how the essence of
time has changed within society. In traditional hunter gatherer societies, like The San and Zulu clans ,
before technological inventions such as the clock was introduced, people used to base their time on the
sun and moon s position as well as seasons to allocate their time in regions and activities in order to
conduct their livelihood (South Africa African Religions, 1996). However, in modern day society,
owing to the clock invention, scheduled activities/events are precisely on the hour and minute
(Macionis Plummer, 2012: 123). Thus, modern society has allowed individuals to be more efficient,
by limiting time constraints through technology and infrastructure and has greatly improved the
livelihoods of people, owing to better healthcare and institutions which affectively address

The Public Sphere Within Theatre
The Public Sphere within theatre was a concept that was first delineated by philosopher Jurgen
Habermas in his book titled The structural transformation of the public sphere, in which he refers to
the right that all citizens hold, the right to participate and engage into discussions on public matters of
interest and public issues. Habermas writes: the audience does not constitute a space for spectators and
listeners but a space for speakers and addresses who engage in debate. (Habermas in Balme 2012).
The Public sphere has now become a space, a stage, for performers, speakers and protesters to have a
voice rather than for the preliminary use of entertainment for the audience, spectators and listeners.
On reading Christopher B. Balme s The theatrical public sphere, the concept of theatre s role in the
Public Sphere is explored. Balme traces the origins ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Academic and artistic interest in something is usually a sure sign that matters are unclear, conceptual
boundaries are blurred and that old certainties are anything but that. There is also little doubt that the
major challenges we face: the media revolution, globalization and migration, climate change, the
erosion of public finances and services (to name just a few) have all in some way a bearing on the
public sphere, the realm where issues are debated and where citizens are free to enter and engage in
discourse. As the public sphere is primarily a discursive arena located outside and between state
bureaucracies on the one hand and economics and business on the other, it occupies a crucial role in
the functioning of so called free societies. The question to be explored here is what role theatre and
performance in practice play in this realm and how performance and theatre theory can contribute to
the debates. (Balme

In the play The play of Kes by Barry Hines, the main character, Billy, is persistently bullied. He is
belittled, discouraged and threatened. This has hurt him mentally and physically to the point of
depression. The people who primarily bully him are Jud, his half brother, and Mr. Gryce the principal.
Jud, who is Billy s older half brother, taunts and terrorizes him daily. Jud enjoys sending threats
towards Billy such as I ll murder you when I get home. which implies that Billy will get hurt later on
(physical abuse). Also, this will traumatize Billy and make him live for the rest of the day in fear,
anxiety and distress for what might happen to him. The word murder increases the intensity of what

Gryce, the school principal. Mr. Gryce has a special disliking toward Billy and hurts him both
mentally and physically; for daydreaming, he shouts at Billy you ll be tired when I m finished with

point that Gryce will abuse Billy later on, overwhelming him with trauma and fear. In that time and
age, corporal punishment was considered ordinary. However, corporal punishment is only hitting the
leg, not belittling and verbally abusing children. For the second quote, some of the audience might
justify Gryce s actions as corporal punishment. The play wright has done this to show that even
teachers can be using the law for their evil actions. The word finished highlights the fact that Gryce
will continue to abuse him and that he isn t going to let him off so easily. Gryce might be using
corporal punishment as a pass to bully and punish students he despises. In contrast to the other

Communication Issues In Autistic Children
The word autism comes from a Greek word called autos, meaning self. Children with autism act very
different than children without. Autistic children are distant, non communicative, and anti social. They
also have repetitive behavior and have sensory problems. They are most relaxed when they are in their
own little world. A couple activities that they do when comfortable is staring blank into space and
spinning around in circles. Children without the disease goes through developmental steps, which are

The definition of communication is, The process of exchanging information in different forms with
other people. There are two different types of communicating, one way is by speaking a language,
another way is by using body language. There are also three phases of communication. The first
phrase is intentional communication, the use of vocalization and gestures, in order to grab attention
from another or try to succeed to get a want or need. Then there is symbolic communication, the
interaction with others by using early language. The third phase is linguistic communication, the skill

The first order of social interaction is crying. Next, is eye gaze and the observation of facial

Thornton Research Paper
An increase in the production of domestic magazines, primarily aimed at women, coincided with the
stricter expectations of female behaviour. The Lady s Magazine, in which the exposé of Thornton
appeared, was the first to survive any length of time. It was issued monthly and contained news but
largely consisted of poetry, sheet music and stories. Its cost made it largely an upper class magazine,
as it was the equivalent of a full day s pay of a skilled artisan. Lower class literature too experienced a
large growth in production. Street literature, including broadsides and ballads, had long been popular

By the early nineteenth century, newspapers were an integral part of daily life for both men and
women. Both sexes would have read about Thornton s story in the newspaper. While it is clear that
women read newspapers, the size of the female readership remains extremely unclear . It was this
female readership that the articulators of separate spheres ideology were concerned with reaching. The
basic premise of the separate spheres was that the public sphere of political life and employment was
naturally the space of men and the domestic sphere of the home was the realm of women. The
conscious articulation of this idea in the media of the nineteenth century was the product of fears of
societal instability, of which the breakdown of familial and sexual order became a striking metaphor .
Domestic magazines and newspapers worked to create and proliferate a baseline of acceptable
behaviour for women and offered definitions of what would be tolerated. The attempts in the print
media to reflect the model behaviour for the sexes is apparent the representations and phrasing of
Thornton s appearances, as seen in Chapter

The consequences of war can either have a positive or negative impact on a society. The results of war
have the ability to bring together people and even nations to solve conflicts of inequality and tyranny,
but war can also divide countries, nations and even families. (TRANSITION). This is what took place

One of the identified challenges for the Department of Social Services in the case study focused on

The Burke Litwin Causal Model of Organization Performance and Change (Burke, 2017, p. 222)
offers a complex, yet relevant framework to consider necessary changes in the Department of Social
Services. While the model built on early research from Litwin and others, it evolved further in practice
with the transformation of the company, British Airways (Burke, 2017). The model incorporates
twelve factors that are found across the various levels of organizations including system, group, and
individual. The model also focuses on the connections between each of the variables such as those
among the external environment, leadership, and organizational culture. The model also distinguishes
between elements that are more transformational in nature and those that are transactional.

California in 1977. They offered DVD for selling and renting over the internet. In reference to
Suite101 business profile, Netflix s mission is to transform the way people access and view the movies

Netflix main strategy was to do better than the video shops that carried DVDs, and renting them as

weight, very cheap to post them. The firm carried out a trial with over 200 dispatching packages
before they realized a disc would be safely posted with a cost of a single first class stamp, enclosed
with a return mailer stamped. NetFlix.com guaranteed to effectively have all titles in stock, with
reasonably rapid delivery offered through the U.S. Postal Service. They pledged to purchase more

Explain Where Most People In The United Kingdom
1. Explain where most people in the United Kingdom, Germany, Russia, and Italy live based on
location, climate, trade? (12 Points) In the United Kingdom, I know most people live in major cities.
The North Atlantic Current warms the waters around the country creating the Marine West Coast
Climate which prevents any ice from being formed, so ports are open all year, which makes trade easy.
Most Russians will live in major cities on the western side of the Russia, because of the warm climate.
Unlike the west, eastern Russia is covered in permafrost and the Arctic Ocean is frozen parts of the
year, so trade is difficult and dangerous. Since the Rhine River flows through the eastern part of
Germany, eastern Germany is more densely populated than western Germany, because the Rhine
River is used to trade goods among many different countries. Also, the winters are not as harsh in the
east than in the west. In Italy, which is a peninsula shaped like a boot, most people live on the coast,

The Importance Of Population Differences
Geographers have different factors to focus on when trying to understand why there are differences in
the world s population. Crude birth rate, crude death rate, natural increase rate, life expectancy and so
on. Each of those are methods used by geographers to measure population. Geographers should not
only look at those methods when trying to figure out the population differences. Some social factors
like the economy, culture, lifestyle and the government contributes in the differences in population.
Crude birth rate and life expectancy are the two most important indicators that can help a geographer
understand why is there differences in the population.
Crude birth rate is an immensely important factor because not in all courtiers a woman is having up to
seven children. According to statista Niger is a country with the highest crude birth rate because
women are estimated to have 6.76 children per women. However, China has the largest population in
the world and in the Washington post it states that China allows couples to only have two children. It
is also mentioned that although the government allows couples to have two children most people only
have one child. People in China prefer to just have one child because is extremely costly. In the
Washington post it indicates that to prepare a child to succeed in the country s competitive schools and
workplaces, parents must invest lots of time and money in a child for schooling, extracurricular
activities, and outside tutoring, often for college entrance and English proficiency exams . This type of
factors makes the difference in population. The economy is not the same around the world and in the
countries that are poor women do not health care and that means they can not be put on birth control.
Crude birth rate explains why some countries population is bigger than others. If women in some
countries are having 5 and more children the population is going be higher than in countries that
women are having one child. In this case, China can not be included because although you are allowed
to just have two children, China was already over populated and had to come up with the one child
policy. I believe that if China stick to just having one child and Niger s

objecting to the first premise which states that homosexual acts between consenting adults do not
harm anyone, and the fourth which explains that discrimination against homosexuals removes
individual freedom as it ignores personal choice and privacy [Jordan 2]. He states that these premises
are only plausible when these acts are done in private, concluding that one should only be able to
discriminate homosexual behavior if it is done in public. This premise is an assumption made by
Jordan that unlike homosexual acts, people enjoy viewing heterosexual acts that are displayed
publically. This premise assumes that the majority of society accepts viewing heterosexual behavior in
public, but are uncomfortable with viewing public homosexual acts.
To set up his argument in support of the Difference Thesis, Jordan creates a scenario in which one
person believes that subject X is morally wrong but another person believes it is morally permissible,
calling this conflict an impasse (Jordan 42). He continues to define public dilemma as special case

Who s Afraid Of Virginia Woolf Essay
Who s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? and The Birth of the MPAA Ratings System
The 1960s were a volatile time and an important season of change in American history. The
revolutions in social mores that the country experienced extended to the cinema. Previously, films
sought the endorsement of production associations and religious organizations. That trend began to be
challenged by bold directors and their films that earned success without the approval of these
establishments. With its brash dialogue and suggestive situations, Mike Nichols screen adaptation of
Who s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? caused controversy by continuing the radical movements of films in
the 50 s and 60 s, leading to content changes as well the advisory of who should see it. Along with
other films that came before it, this led to the creation of the MPAA ratings system to classify films
based on content.

At this meeting, Valenti suggested a one time exemption for the film, citing many reasons, including
the NCOMP s shocking decision to give the film an A IV rating (Leff 50). The voting was almost
unanimous in favor of the one time ruling with a few agreed upon changes in the script. Who s Afraid
of Virginia Woolf? was released in theaters on June 22, 1966, with a special SMA (Suggested for
Mature Audiences) label instead of a Production Code. It was a financial success, staying atop the
summer box office and becoming the second highest grossing film of the year. It also received critical
acclaim; being nominated in every category of the Academy Awards that year, and winning many
awards, including Best Actress for Elizabeth Taylor and Best Supporting Actress for Sandy Dennis.
With these achievements and the precedent that the exception made for its release, there was no going

Essay Marriot vs Hyatt
Mission, Vision, Social Responsibility, Strategic Planning: Marriott and Hyatt
Lori Scholl
University of Maryland, University College
Business Management 364, Section 4015
May 24, 2012
I. Mission and Vision Statements Mission Statement Organizing the direction of a business or
corporation is essential because it can increase profitability and provide broad guidelines for how to
accomplish the organization goals. This is where a mission statement becomes useful. A mission
statement should be short, concise, and to the point. Employees should be able to remember it and
make it part of their everyday work culture. Marriott and Hyatt are two of the largest hospitality
providers in the world. Marriott has over 3,700 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ultimately, Hyatt and Marriott do not seem to be heading in the same direction, and due to the
differences in the size of their current business portfolios, it is realistic. II. Social Responsibility
Activities In the business world, social responsibility refers to accountability. There is the
accountability of the company to itself, and to the communities where they have a presence.
Especially when a business is as large and far reaching as Marriott, they have a responsibility to give
back and help to improve society. It is also believed that by engaging in socially responsible activities,
the company will improve its image and increase profit. Marriott has done a great job of participating
in a diversified collection of charitable initiatives, events, and organizations. Their main area of focus
has been the environment because that is where their business has the most impact. They have given
and raised money for the preservation of 1.4 million acres of rainforest in the Juma Reserve in Brazil,
glad to aid in the conservation effort that can save species and improve the global climate
(http://www.marriott.com). Additionally, Marriot launched Nobility of Nature, a $500,000
commitment to help protect the source of fresh water for more than 2 million people in Asia
(http://www.marriott.com). In addition to their external practices, Marriot is concerned about the effect
their businesses have on the environment and for this reason

South Syrian City Of Deraa Devolved Into A Full Blown...
In March 2011, peaceful protests in the southern Syrian city of Deraa devolved into a full blown civil
conflict. Within the last five years, more than 12.2 million people have been impacted, with 7.6
million people displaced inside Syria and more than 3.8 million displaced in neighboring nations. The
majority of refugees are now living in Jordan, Lebanon, Turkey, Egypt and Iraq. The current concern
about the humanitarian crisis is whether the aid is reaching refugees or being diverted in ways that
bolster a prolonged civil war. For this essay s purpose, aid is defined as aid and action designed to
save lives, alleviate suffering and maintain and protect human dignity during and in the aftermath of
man made crises and natural disasters, as well as to prevent and strengthen preparedness for the
occurrence of such situations.
Although the current aid set up is intended to cover all existing needs inside Syria, national and
international aid is being highly controlled by the Bashar al Assad regime, and aid beyond the
Damascus borders is extremely limited. Recently, there have been numerous reports issued by the
Syrian government that opposition rebels are seizing international aid, and rebels responded with
accusations of regime forces starving besieged towns. Thus, humanitarian aid organizations are
required to distribute aid through local non governmental organizations (NGOs) that are already
operating at full capacity and have a limited geographical scope. This atmosphere

The Characteristics Of An Epic Hero In The Epic Of Beowulf
What makes epic hero stories so compelling? Is it the continuous freedom, courage, and value in
society or is it the significance implemented in who the characters are? Stories have been passed down
for generations. Some of the most famous examples is Beowulf, ¨Gilgamesh¨ , Iliad, and ¨Julius
Caesar.¨ Epic stories portray the development of an epic heroes characterization through courage,
strength, and love of glory throughout the plot of a story. A major epic hero trait is courage. The act of
picking yourself up after you were thrown down to help others. In the story of Beowulf, Beowulf
saved the Danes. ´´And a young prince must be prudent like that, giving freely while his father lives
so that afterwards in age when fighting starts steadfast companions will stand by him and hold the
line. Behaviour that s admired is the path to power among people everywhere.´´ (SparkNotes
Beowulf) This selection is describing Beowulf as a prince and warrior who is courageous enough to
fight his life for people he cares about. Since Grendel often attacks at night, it displays the setting as a
more hard and rigid area. The behavior of saving people brings power within the epic hero. ´´ Beowulf
got ready, donned his war gear, indifferent to death; his mighty, hand forged, fine webbed mail would
soon meet with the menace underwater. It would keep the bone cage of his body safe.´´ (Spark Notes
Beowulf) In this selection, Beowulf is getting ready to go to war with Grendel s mother. He

Abortion In Alabama
Introduction:
Life is so beautiful and sweet until it ends. In America, abortions clinics are gradually closing their
doors even though the United States is of the few nations to endorse abortions. Abortions are normally
performed during the 1st trimester of a woman s pregnancy and abortion laws are varied from state to
state (Alabama Policy). Abortion is also one of the biggest and most controversial debate about
exterminating an unborn life in a mother s womb and determining whether its ethical or unethical. In
1973, the United States Supreme Court legalized abortions throughout every state and more women
especially African Americans were enticed by the Roe v Wade court decision (Alabama Policy Web).
In this paper, I will examine the influence ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, during the early 1950s and 1960s, the Civil Rights Movement and other antiwar movements
inspired women to actively fight for their rights through nonviolent means (Feminist Web). Women
stopped being afraid of talking about the contentious issues of abortions, abuse, rape and silent tears.
For years, women have gone through society being denied their civil rights and they demanded justice
through acts of marching, protesting, and lobbying for reproductive rights. As a result, some states
began to supported abortion laws for women right after the birth control movement which was led by
feminist Margaret Sanger. Similarly, African American women were getting abortions more abortions
and the many women were silent about being raped or molested by family members, friends, and
unexpected strangers. The African American community is declining in large numbers due to high
abortion rates and the next highest killer is heart disease (Black Genocide). In Alabama, the black
community has declined and many people of color are moving out of the southern region because of

Black Sage
I had my first Black Sage encounter while on a guided native herb walk in my local park in Southern
California. It was a glorious evergreen perennial shrub; about 5 high, 8 wide well within the normal
parameters, (3FT 6FT in height and 10FT wide). It was in bloom, generally (Feb July) with beautiful
lavender colored flowers, they have also been known to have blue flowers and the rarest are white. I
asked the tree for permission to pick a leaf and upon receiving it, gently plucked one. The leaf was
about 2 long (average is 1 3 ). The tip of the leaf was smooth while the bottom part was hairy. I
inhaled and there was no doubt that this was a highly aromatic bush. Native to California and Baja,
Mexico, Black Sage is the commonest sage in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It can be used medicinally internally and externally for a wide range of conditions, including applying
it as a poultice to relieve pain, as a tea to help with a sore throat, and using fresh or dried stems and
leaves in the bath to relieve flu like symptoms (Kumeyaay Tribe) or to relieve pain in back, neck and
head (Chumash Tribe). Landscapers love it for restoration and control of erosion, butterflies and bees
flock to it as a food source, and is well paired with winter squashes or for use in flavoring honey.
Women who are pregnant or are breast feeding should not use sage as it non known if it enters the
breast milk. During my hike, I did in fact hurt my ankle, and decided that I would ask my guide how
to use the Black Sage that I had collected to help with the pain. I was told to crumple it up into a ball
and place it next to the area that was hurting and my sock would be used to keep it in place. Twenty
minutes later there was improvement in the pain, and while this is anecdotal I have continued to use
this when I hike and I get sore muscles as it is readily

  • 2. Persuasive Speech On Freedom Of Speech Recently I was reflecting on what our country has come to. Professional athletes kneeling and disrespecting our flag, in an alleged effort to protest their beliefs, but are protected by their freedom of speech. Our country split apart by our most recent presidential election, by the verbal hate people spoke or continue to speak or post on social media, however, are protected by their freedom of speech. All of the sudden a bigger reality hit home, and restored my faith in America and humanity. You see on Friday, August 25, 2017, the 2nd Friday after school started, hurricane Harvey hit my small town of Katy, Texas. My mom, dad, sister, uncle, and myself stayed in our house during the storm. We lost power in our house for three days. We were the first street to flood in our subdivision, leaving us trapped and unable to go anywhere, and the last street to drain, leaving us the last street to get out once the water receded. On the second and third day we could hear airboat rescues in the front of our neighborhood, as they were literally in our back yard. When we were finally able to get out of the house and drive to the store for more gas we passed dozens of houses that had been flooded with 18 inches to 4 feet of water. It was heart wrenching and devastating. The mountains of sheetrock, cabinets, personal belongings on the side of the rode on almost every house in our neighborhood was sitting at the curb in total despair. Once we were able to get out of our neighborhood ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Thomas Hobbes Theory Of Natural Law For many years now, political philosophy has been dealing with ideas on how to make society more moral, unprejudiced and just. Within this concept is whether laws and rules created in society are moral and fair and how these can vary between human beings and traditions. Therefore the whole notion of Natural Law governing society has been reached from different conclusions, which in turn sees Thomas Hobbes social contract theory as opposing to St. Thomas Aquinas theory of natural law. Yet this does not change the fact that many Western democracies base their moral decision making within Hobbes concept. (Kenney, 2005) The theory formulated by Hobbes, argued that the laws of nature are to be seen as divine law, in which all human beings are bound by these basic natural laws of self preservation which directs them to the way of the good. (Murphy, 2011) Hobbes rejected the concept of higher law and argued that the citizens ought to accept the traditional laws and principles of their state even if they were oppressive in order to keep peace and security. (Kraynak, 1990) In contrast to this, St. Thomas Aquinas, who was heavily influenced by Aristotle s ideas of universal and conventional law and expanded and developed them. (Vieru, 2010) His ideas centre his notion of natural law, with his knowledge of God. He bases his theory of natural law in the concept of an eternal law, which is in God. For Aquinas, law is an order of reason from God for all of the community. (Summa ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Canadian Health Care System In the book on a citizens guidelines to policy and politics, Katherine Fierlbeck argues that The 1983 Canada Health Act replaced the 1947 Hospital Insurance and Diagnostic Services act because of the shift from a system of 50 50 federal provincial cost sharing to a system of block funding established in Ottawa in 1977 (Fierlbeck 2011, pg.20). Until the period of the mid 1980 s, the Canadian health care system is to be categorized in a disarray, having no foundation to components and accomplishment. The system is to rely mainly on cost sharing; whereby in a health insurance policy only a portion is paid by the health insurance. While enabling the insured party to pay a portion of the price of covered services. In this case, cost sharing is based on 50 50 provincial and federal cost sharing agreement to a fault. By Ottawa giving tax transfers to the provinces in replacement of direct transfers, but the federal government had no capacity to conceal cash. This in return is able to affect provinces because it deprived the federal government effective, efficient, and responsive measure of provinces holding the five principles of the Canada health care. According to About Canada Health Care, Pat Armstrong and Hugh Armstrong speaks about the five principles of health care, which are; Public administration, Comprehensiveness, Universality, Portability, and Accessibility (Pat Armstrong Hugh Armstrong 2008, pg.28). They have been proven to reduce and prevent injury in the event of a car accident by keeping the passenger in their seat. In addition, seatbelts can extend and retract however, in the likelihood of a collision, the belt tightens up to hold the passenger in place so that they do not go through the windshield when the car goes to a sudden stop. Katsu Kokichi’S Autobiography, “Musui’S Story,” Documents Katsu Kokichi s autobiography, Musui s Story, documents the life of a samurai in Japan s late Tokugawa period who adopted the name Musui in his retirement. Katsu is something of a black sheep within his family, being largely uneducated and deemed unfit for the bureaucratic office s samurai of his standing were expected to hold. As such, he typifies in many ways the lower ronin, or masterless samurai, many of whom famously led roaming, directionless lives and wreaked havoc among the urban poor and merchant classes. [He] used up all his money (Musui 44). In this section, Katsu exhibits a lack of self control over his money. His behavior is representative of many low level samurai throughout Tokugawa Japan. These irresponsible economic decisions combine with pre existing financial disparity to place samurai largely in debt. Similarly, these districts were often seen as an escape for samurai and members of the lower class. Just before Katsu has fled home for the second time, he says To take my mind off my woes, I went to the Yoshiwara (Musui 60). Many samurai were disheartened by the fact they were indebted to merchants and had no true purpose in life. As an escape, they fled to districts like the Yoshiwara. • 20. Analysis Of The Literary Works Of Bash Ō, Khayyam, And Tagore The World is an Image Image, as a word, originates from Latin imago which means to imitate (Varshney 86). Hence, imagery in literature is an artificial imitation of the external form of an object (Varshney 86). In other words, an image is a form of expressing thoughts and feelings through representing reality by employing visual expressions. In the literary works of Bashō, Khayyám, and Tagore, natural imagery play a fundamental role in illustrating inner thoughts, vocalizing silent feelings, and dramatizing frozen emotions. A good deal of Western scholarship on the works of Bashō, Omar Khayyám, and Tagore describe the employment(s) of imagery (among other literary techniques) in their poems and prose as avant grade, which minimizes the literary traditions of the East and narrowly historicizes the notion of avant grade. If avant grade, as a western concept, means expressing thoughts and emotions through unorthodox or untraditional approaches, then it cannot be applied to the works of Basho, Khayyam, and Tagore without ignoring the literary past. As Kawamoto declares, nothing is absolutely new it can be new only when it is compared to something else that has already existed (Kawamoto 712). Language, in itself, is traditional it can evolve and develop, but it cannot break roots with the past. While it is true that all books open up worlds of literature, no book does it better than the Graveyard book of leaving you with an utterly unforgettable experience you will never find in any other book. The Graveyard book accomplishes this task thorough it s exhilarating, hard to put down nature, it s age appropriate writing style, it s inspirational plotline, and lastly, it s extremely creative ideas and various concepts found throughout the book. A book, no matter what kind of book, always has an age range. In this case, the Graveyard book s age range is completely open to all ages, especially our age range. While The Graveyard Book will entertain people of all ages, it s especially a tale for children, says NYtimes book reviewer Monica Edinger. That makes it age appropriate, therefore allowing you connect deeply with the main characters, most notably Bod. At the beginning, you ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As well as this, despite the fact that the Graveyard book is derived from another book, Gaiman still manages to be at his absolute best, creating something original from a derived plotline. Bachelet, born in Santiago, is Chile s first female president, being elected in 2006 and reelected in 2014. Bachelet stood her ground against opposition in women s rights. Michelle talks of gender equality being a good business because it, in an economical sense, will boost economy and jobs. Michelle received her surgical degree and college. • 29. The Rationalization of the South African Society Modernity revolves around the rational application of scientific method to certain aspects of life. This could be done through the development of governmental regulations, bureaucratic observation, and the erosion of traditional values (Beck, Lash Giddens, 1997). New thought processes and the increase in the application medicine and technology have played important roles in the concept of rationalism (Bilton et al, 2002). The character of modern society could be defined by rationalism (Macionis Plummer, 2012: 123); this can be clearly seen in the South African rational social organization context from hunter gatherer days to modern day society. An example of this would be how the essence of time has changed within society. In traditional hunter gatherer societies, like The San and Zulu clans , before technological inventions such as the clock was introduced, people used to base their time on the sun and moon s position as well as seasons to allocate their time in regions and activities in order to conduct their livelihood (South Africa African Religions, 1996). However, in modern day society, owing to the clock invention, scheduled activities/events are precisely on the hour and minute (Macionis Plummer, 2012: 123). Thus, modern society has allowed individuals to be more efficient, by limiting time constraints through technology and infrastructure and has greatly improved the livelihoods of people, owing to better healthcare and institutions which affectively address ... • 30. The Public Sphere Within Theatre The Public Sphere within theatre was a concept that was first delineated by philosopher Jurgen Habermas in his book titled The structural transformation of the public sphere, in which he refers to the right that all citizens hold, the right to participate and engage into discussions on public matters of interest and public issues. Habermas writes: the audience does not constitute a space for spectators and listeners but a space for speakers and addresses who engage in debate. (Habermas in Balme 2012). The Public sphere has now become a space, a stage, for performers, speakers and protesters to have a voice rather than for the preliminary use of entertainment for the audience, spectators and listeners. There is also little doubt that the major challenges we face: the media revolution, globalization and migration, climate change, the erosion of public finances and services (to name just a few) have all in some way a bearing on the public sphere, the realm where issues are debated and where citizens are free to enter and engage in discourse. As the public sphere is primarily a discursive arena located outside and between state bureaucracies on the one hand and economics and business on the other, it occupies a crucial role in the functioning of so called free societies. The question to be explored here is what role theatre and performance in practice play in this realm and how performance and theatre theory can contribute to the debates. (Balme ... Crude birth rate, crude death rate, natural increase rate, life expectancy and so on. Each of those are methods used by geographers to measure population. Geographers should not only look at those methods when trying to figure out the population differences. Some social factors like the economy, culture, lifestyle and the government contributes in the differences in population. Crude birth rate and life expectancy are the two most important indicators that can help a geographer understand why is there differences in the population. Crude birth rate is an immensely important factor because not in all courtiers a woman is having up to seven children. According to statista Niger is a country with the highest crude birth rate because women are estimated to have 6.76 children per women. However, China has the largest population in the world and in the Washington post it states that China allows couples to only have two children. It is also mentioned that although the government allows couples to have two children most people only have one child. People in China prefer to just have one child because is extremely costly. In the Washington post it indicates that to prepare a child to succeed in the country s competitive schools and workplaces, parents must invest lots of time and money in a child for schooling, extracurricular activities, and outside tutoring, often for college entrance and English proficiency exams . This type of factors makes the difference in population. The economy is not the same around the world and in the countries that are poor women do not health care and that means they can not be put on birth control. Crude birth rate explains why some countries population is bigger than others. If women in some countries are having 5 and more children the population is going be higher than in countries that women are having one child.
