An Analysis Of Gennifer Choldenko s Al Capone Does My
Shirts
Gennifer Choldenko s Al Capone Does My Shirts is the story of Moose Flanagan
adjusting to his new home, Alcatraz Island. This story is during the 1930 s, the time
when Alcatraz was host to some of the most notorious criminals in history, such as Al
Capone. Although there are may strict rules prohibiting the children from coming in
contact with any of the prisoners, Moose meets and befriends many other children on the
island, including Piper. Piper is the warden s daughter, yet she devises many crazy
schemes to make money and entertain herself. Many of her schemes involve breaking the
rules, and many fail. When mooses only friend wants a con baseball, he spends hours
searching through the brush trying to find one. In this time, he finds, his
Why I Am A Cold Bowl Of Mac And Cheese
As I sat down to eat the cold bowl of Mac and Cheese that I had brought with me, my
emotions boiled over as a horror which I wish upon no one came forth. Infuriated, my
rage took control of me as I jumped out of my chair, forcibly tossing the only source of
food I had disposable to me in the garbage. This climatic moment was initiated upon my
discovery that there was a broken microwave in the Sawyer lounge and Suffolk
Universityhad yet to replace it. Yes, it seems trivial, even downright ridiculous to get
that pent up over a defunct microwave, but look at the scenario from my perspective.
Imagine getting up at six in the morning for a nine A.M. class, anxious about all your
assignments coming up, and having your last class finish at five forty five P.M. I had
wondered how many other commuter students had to suffer the same fate as I had to that
day. All you want is a warm energizing meal, but the broken microwave prevents you
from obtaining it.
See, what the incident stated above did is affirm my notion that Suffolk is not
accommodating to its commuter students. Historically, Suffolk University was a
commuter school. However, since 1996, Suffolk has opened four residence halls, the
most recent being The Modern Theater Residence Hall, which opened in 2010. (Suffolk
University) This has resulted in a shift in the school that saw 66.9% of the admitted
freshmen class of 2015 live in the residence halls (Applications at el). Conversely, as the
University has shifted towards the
Analysis Of The Man Eater Of Malgudi
The novel is divided into twelve chapters and imparts the story of a printer Nataraj
who lives in Malgudi and squanders his time in the company of his two friends Sen, a
poet and Sastri, a journalist. To give the sense of geographical legitimacy, Narayan
setting the novel by portrayed realistically of mentioning some place like Kabir Street,
New Extension and so on which leads the reader to picture the setting with precision
and empowers of the place. The whole novel is pictured with an extremely beautiful
and delicate landscape which is painted with a quality of exact which makes the
panoramas come bustling. Narayan designed the Malgudi as the symbol of mythic
space which actively participates in and determines the action of the novel. It has
psychological dimension and physical locale. It brings a ritualistic dimension into the
novel. Narayan has a very idiosyncratic style which has been considered as objective,
unpretentious, untheoretical and volubly professional. He uses an each of several
possible ways to be ordered or arranged of fantasy and realism. The Man Eater of
Malgudi jumbles the ingredients of comedy to excellent purpose and provides ample
entertainment, but the undercurrent of serious intension cannot be missed. (Iyenger:380)
The Man Eater of Malgudi drawing universal fact that evil is always been anti life, anti
nature and anti faith, in other words it makes a person blind in his misunderstanding of
considering himself the most powerful person. It is true
Munny s Journey In Unforgiven
In the movie Unforgiven, it displays the rocky journey of William Munny with where
he starts and finishes as the killer of women and children. During his marriage and a
bit after the death of his wife, William Munny went through a rebirth and let go of his
memories of the past in order to be not only a good husband but a father to his two
children. His journey starts when the Schofield kid asks William to join him in killing
two men that cut up a woman s face for the reward of $500 each; between not wanting
to go back to his life of being a killer and wanting to provide for his family Munny is
torn. He decides to take the kid up on his offer and gets his old partner Ned Logan to
help him hunt down the two men. Through the movie William is tempted to drink and
have sex with Delilah but denies both because his wife wouldn t approve, this being an
example that William may not have come to terms with her being dead and uses her as
an excuse not to turn back into the killer that he... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

He is put to the test with each challenge the group faces with a choice of either staying
composed or reverting, he remains composed and true to his promise until the final
killing scene. He takes compassion when having to kill the first guy by shooting the
ground beside him to scare him and then finally shooting him through the gut with his
last shot. As for the second guy William lets the Schofield kid kill him to ease his
conscience and let the kid have his moment, only to find out that it was his first and
last kill. William tells the kid to drink after he kills to help take away the pain and to

Examine The Role Of Evidence In Criminal Trial
3. The role of the prosecutor is to decide which evidence should be presented and
which is the best way to present it. Evidence is chosen based on what is best fitted to
present the case and helps to build towards a guilty verdict against the offender. Judges
give the final stamp of approval on all evidence presented in a case. They are given
power to either admit or omit evidence based on prosecutorial or defense objects which
will require interpretation of the law. The jurys duty is to review and interpret the
evidence in order to find the truth within it. During criminal trials they are meant to
decide if the evidence can prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
The burden of proof of guilt in a criminal trial is placed on the prosecution because the
defendant is innocent until proven guilty.

Inferences are drawn based on presumptions.
9. A stipulation serves the goal of judicial economy by saving the court s time and by
allowing the court to continue its business without requiring proof of a fact or issue
over which the parties have no disagreement (Ingram p. 116). In other words it is a fact
or group of facts that both parties agree are true and need not to be proven as such; facts
that are not disputed upon or require formal proof.
Stipulation to a fact means that both parties have agreed that proof of the issue at hand is
not required; it also cannot be taken to a contrary position later during the trial.
Ingram explains that stipulated testimony merely amounts to a mutual agreement by both
parties that, if a certain person were present, he or she would testify under oath to the
facts contained within the agreed stipulation (Ingram p. 190). In other words, a
presumption of what a person s testimony would consist of is being stipulated based
upon what their role would play in the trial as a

Hypertension is high blood pressure. The normal blood pressure range for adults is less
than 120/80mm Hg. This patient has a blood pressure reading above 140/90mm Hg.
Hyperglycemia means the patient has an abnormally high blood glucose or sugar levels.
UTI, CHF
This patient has two problems. The first is the patient has a UTI or urinary tract
infection. A urinary tract infection is a bacterial infection that occurs in any part of the
Urinary System. For this reason, the infection can affect the bladder, urethra, or kidneys.
The infection is caused by the Escherichia coli or E. coli bacterium. The infection can be
treated with antibiotics. In addition, cranberry juice helps make the patient s urine acidic
as the bacteria prefer alkaline urine to grow rapidly.
The second problem is the patient is suffering from congestive heart failure. This means
the patient s heart is not able to pump sufficient amounts of blood to meet the body s
needs. Congestive heart failure can be caused by coronary artery disease or hypertension.

The Need for Waste-to-energy on Ships
The Need for Waste to energy on Ships
Waste to energy power plants are lowering the amount of waste we have in landfills and
turning that into energy to meet industrial needs. What if there was a way to shrink these
power plants and put them onto cargo and passenger ships? According to the Palm Beach
Post, the Environmental Protection Agency says, a cruise ship with 3,000 passengers can
generate 210,000 of gallons of waste and sewage and 1 million gallons of grey water
from showers and drains in a typical week. 1 Most of the material that lands in these
waters is not biodegradable. The majority of ships will dump their waste into the ocean,
while others will store it until they get back to land, only to dump the waste into landfills.
There are four reasons why having small generators on ships would work:
1)The use of generators would create job opportunities;
2)The generators are environmentally safe;
3)There would be abundant source of waste to use as fuel; and
4)The generators would keep dangerous waste, like plastic, from entering the waters.
The technology to produce energy from waste has already been proven to work. With a
small generator, ships would be recycling the waste into energy that could be used for
providing electricity, transportation, and industrial needs.
Waste to nearby facilities have already proved to be a great investment on land.2 The
facilities provide financial and environment benefits to the communities
Essay On Gender Roles In Grimm s Little Red-Cap
Little Red Cap or Little Red Red cap
In the folktale of Little Red Cap there are gender roles that were characterized in every
version that was ever written. In this folktale we can begin analyzing that it was created
specifically to target the female gender, but mainly young girls and elderly women. In
almost every folktale women are portrayed to be vulnerable, helpless, kindhearted and
naГЇve. There are many versions of this folktale and in every version that was written
the females are portrayed to be vulnerable and the males to be the dominant and superior
figure.
Based on the tale version by the Grimm brothers the grandmother gave her grandaughter
a little cap of red velvet, which suited her so well that she would never wear anything ...

This was the opportunity the wolf was looking for to gain entrance to the house and
wait for Little Red Cap so he can eat her as well. In every version of this tale the little
girl does realize that something is not right because she questions the grandmother for
not looking like her normal self. Even if Little Red cap believed she was in danger she
would not have been able to do anything because women during this era were not known
for defending themselves, this was the man s job to protect and defend their family. In
the end both the grandmother and the little girl get eaten by the wolf because they were
both so vulnerable and naГЇve that they were convinced by this superior wolf with his
charms and dominant male force. Once again towards the end of the tale the women are
rescued by a huntsman who was just passing the house, and thought to himself, How the
old woman is snoring! I must just see if she wants anything. Little Red Cap (Little Red
Riding Hood, Grimms Version). Since the women both had to be saved by a man, again
this depicts that they only reason why these women survived was because they were
rescued by a man hence showing that the female is dependent on the
Hilary Clinton Scandal
The article s main focus is Hilary Clinton s fight to fix her reputation after her private
email server scandal. Hilary s main approach to this, is not apologizing, but owing up to
it, and taking responsibility. It mentions how this controversy that has sent her popularity
to career lows was not bothering her. Clinton stays level headed during this scandal, and
stays optimistic. The article goes in depth about how Clinton dislikes how human rights
and women s rights aren t conjoined. She speaks very firmly about how she thinks
human rights are women s rights, and how she praises the ascent of women into political
positions. The article briefly speaks about democratic rivals, such as Bernie Sanders, who
is threatening to defeat her in the
Sexual Harassment At The Civil Rights Act
With such practices agencies protect not only the victims rights but also evidence that is
later used in cases. This stratifies Miranda Rights actives that have grave concern for the
effect... that the individual may not be compelled to incriminate himself (Linkins, 2007).
This practice also satisfies the State, who has interest in protecting clear evidence of
proper due process procedures and statements given. In instances where states aim to
protect victims under different circumstances, for example individuals using cameras to
harass others; states must adapt and utilizes laws already at their disposal.
18 USC В§ 2510 2516 addresses wire tapping and privies protection against illegally
tapping someone s telephone, and 47 USC В§ 223 of the Communication Decency Act
prohibits interstate or foreign telecommunications that is used with the intent to annoy,
abuse, threaten, or harass another... Title 42 of the Civil Rights Act may be utilized to
address online victimization. This statute has been interpreted to prohibit sexual
harassment in work environments (Southworth, Finn, Dawson, Fraser, Tucker, 2007).
States can utilize other statues in an effort to protect victims. Such statues can be applied
to cameras, invasion of privacy, and even stalking attempts where cameras and such
devices are used. The need for exact laws with cameras is sometimes clear but how and
what statues are not always so.

All The Pretty Horses And The Searchers Comparison
Both Cormac McCarthy s All the Pretty Horses and John Ford s The Searchers depict a
ВЁcowboyВЁ going on an adventure, but each shows the myth of the cowboy in very
different lights. The Searchers shows John Wayne as a great man loyal to his family
who will do anything to protect them. McCarthy shows the cowboy John Grady as a
boy who wants to chase the dream of the life of a cowboy. These differences are very
similar to the more major contrast between the novel and the movies views on the myth
of the cowboy. While both romanticizing and challenging the myth The Searchers in
general romanticizes the myth while All the Pretty Horses does both to change how we
view the cowboy. These can be seen when each of them present violence, setting, and...

His violence towards the captain is written as heroic even if we should not like what
happens we do because it is easy and does not challenge us. McCarthy is trying to
make us aware that violence even if it is tempting to watch or read should not be
romanticized because it creates a false facade of invincibility, but even McCarthy and
the reader cannot resist the urge to watch or read about violence. As the story of both
the novel and the movie move it shows descriptions or images of setting. They both
romanticize the setting of the west due to its beauty and how it represents freedom. In
The Searchers there are long unbroken shots of the nature that makes the West
represent freedom and independence from the normal life. While All the Pretty
Horses does the same thing in the from of paragraph long descriptions of setting it
does it to not only represent freedom, but also as a way of justifying the life of a
cowboy. ВЁThe desert he rode was red and red the dust he raised, the small dust that

How I Respond To Stereotypes
Life is ten percent of what happens to you and the other ninety percent is how you
respond to it Lou Haltz I remember just sitting on my bed scrolling through the
countless influx of messages I had received. I could feel my face start to get hot and
wet. I could not even look at myself in the mirror anymore. My vision got blurry as my
eyes filled with tears. Every comment felt like a gunshot to my heart. Were the
comments true? From that point on I had a pit in my stomach arriving to school each
day. Every head turn and whisper gave me anxiety. I didn t want to be the center of
attention. I knew deep down who the catty girls were who had started the mean
comments. But, I bared not to let my conscious be right. I thought they really liked me....

bullying. I could see the pain in her eyes. She questioned me about why these girls
were attacking me. I responded with I don t know . She then asked what the messages
said. I hesitated. I never talked about what they said out loud. My sister was the one
who found out and told my parents. I was not one much for talking anymore either.
Sadness took over my voice. I finally responded with They said things like do birds live

Batman Vs. Superman Compare
In the 1930s two characters appeared in comic literature that became icons of pop
culture. Batman and Superman are the golden boys of DC comics and are considered
the most popular of all superheroes. Being around for over seventy years these two
have acquired a near endless fan base of all ages. The two kings of comics have often
been portrayed as allies, though they have different views on situations. The argument of
who is truly the better hero has been around since their creation. To compare these two
juggernauts we must look at their defining traits; origin of the hero, their alter egos, and
of course their strengths and weaknesses. First let us look at the man of steel, Superman

Adolf Hitler And The Holocaust
Adolf Hitler, chancellor of Germany from 1933 to 1945 and fГјhrer of Nazi Germany
from 1934 to 1945, was the mastermind behind both World War II within Europe and the
Holocaust. In the Final Solution, concentration and extermination camps were
implemented in an attempt to rid of the Jewish population entirely. Such a task,
genocide, would not be done easily. By the end of World War II, over six million Jews
had been killed. However, not merely Jews were subject to mass murder, but nearly five
million non Jewish people. Out of all of these deaths, a range from 1,885,889 to
2,045,215 were in the concentration camp system. Furthermore, approximately one
million of these deaths were carried out within the Auschwitz concentration camp
complex. Thus, one in every six Jews killed during the holocaustwas killed at an
Auschwitz camp. These extermination camps were the only means by which such a
multitude of murder could have been efficiently accomplished. The systematic
mechanization of mass murder, using gas chambers and crematoria, made such high
death tolls fathomable, making efficient killing easier both physically and
psychologically.
The concentration camp system was established well before World War II and the Final
Solution. The camps had commonly been constructed in desolate places, free from
German jurisdiction. Thus, allowing murder in both large and small amounts to be
carried out surreptitiously. Some, if not most, of these murders being cursorily reported.

Different Stages Of Development Children Go Through Essay
Sensitive Periods
Have you ever wondered how many times a child can repeat an activity or a song or an
action without getting bored? When I was working as an assistance teacher at our
school, even I used to get questions from parents about why children are repetitive in
some things at certain stages. These types of questions will be answered if we all
understand the concepts explained by Dr. Maria Montessori regarding different stages of
development children go through.
Maria Montessori believed that children pass through different phases in which at certain
stages throughout their development they have a predisposition or sensitivity to learning
a specific skill. These stages are called Sensitive Periods . Each period lasts for as long as
it is necessary for the child to accomplish a particular stage in his development. These
periods of sensitivity are transitory. They only last for a certain duration of time. Some
sensitive periods run parallel, some overlap and some succeed each other. When the
goal of the period is accomplished, the special sensitivity simply falls away. In other
words, it reaches its peak and dies away.
The concept of Sensitive Periods in a child s life will remain forever as Dr. Maria
Montessori s greatest discovery. Even though the concept was first used by a famous
Dutch biologist, Hugo de Vries in connection with animal development research, Dr.
Maria Montessori was the one who found similarities and applied the concept to human
development
The Negative Effects Of Oxidative Stress
Kozakowska et al., (2015) findings show that it is possible for exercises to support
special adaptations as regards to the group and vigor of the physical activity engaged.
Based on their findings, they hypothesize that the adaptations occur to protect the
muscles from disproportionate ROS generation, hence, enhancing the motor activities
(Kozakowska et al., 2015). Their findings show that light exercises and warm up
regimens reduced erythrocyte MDA and raised erythrocyte SOD performance in
patients with MD who engaged in regular light workouts. This study is corroborated by
the study done by Al Naama et al., (2015) whose findings were that low intensity

Some studies suggest that the apoptotic activities cause sequential death of cells through
biochemical processes that change the traits of the cells. Some of the changes occur
through DNA mutation, swelling of the cell plasma membrane, and the impairment of
the mRNA (Rowland Pedley, 2010). Research in apoptosis has divulged new findings
suggesting that the process irrepressible once it begins making it one of the most highly
controlled process of the cell functioning (GieГџing, 2005). Another study on the role of
apoptotic activity divulges that this activity may be started by one of two pathways,
namely the intrinsic and extrinsic pathway (Elmore, 2007). When MD patients engage
in high intensity exercises cause a decrease in the production of ROS that makes cells in
the intrinsic pathway to self engage and kill themselves as they are sensitive to the stress
on the cells. The death that occurs in the cells in the extrinsic pathway is thought to be
due to the activation of the caspases that cause the death of cells and enzymes that
debase protein functions. In the case of extrinsic pathway cell death, it assumed that both
pathways prompt the death of cells (Elmore, 2007). A research conducted by Rahimov
and Kunkel (2013) explored the role of high intensity exercise on the myofiber
membrane in MD. Their study found adverse effects in terms of the weakening of the
myofiber membrane. The possible cause for this as they
Downsizing Strategies and Its Effects
Introduction
Companies that faced a decrease in sales, market share, or profits in the 1980s and early
1990s began to realize that their human resources were expensive and underutilized. To
become more competitive, companies made strategic decision to gradually lower their
payroll numbers. (Anthony, Kacmar Perrewe al, 2002:434) Downsizing has become a
critical issue around the world. Downsizing and mass lay offs are happening not only on
US companies but also organizations in the entire industrial world. The number of
organizations and jobs affected by downsizing has been staggering. In 1993, in an
unending quest for lower costs, higher productivity, and fatter profits, American firms

consequences for survivors. (Thornhill, Saunders, 1998:273 4)
Why do firm downsize?
A diversity of reasons can be lead to the decision of downsize. Organization and

in support of Operation Uphold Democracy in the Republic of Haiti to reinstate ousted
President Jean Bertrand Aristide and return the country to a democratic state. We will go

President Aristide took office in January of 1991 and was ousted in September of the
same year by his hand picked, chief of staff of the army Lieutenant General Raoul
Cedras and forced to flee the country. International outrage, fueled in large part by the
well publicized flotilla of boat people bound for FloridaВё put Haiti abruptly in the
international spotlight.3 These events set the stage for U.S. involvement in the Haitian
crisis. In 1993, the United Nations (UN) attempted to negotiate for a peaceful
resolution with Gen. Cedras, which proved unsuccessful. Gen. Cedras would agree to
different stipulations, to include stepping down to get the embargo lifted, and each time
he would fail to honor his end. In one such incident, with few rounds fired, thugs in his
employ forcibly prevented an American ship, the USS Harlan County, from off loading
UN troops intended to retrain the Haitian Army and police force.4 The UN reestablished
the embargo, a naval blockade and passed UN Security Council Resolution (UNSCR)
940, authorizing the application of all necessary means to restore democracy in Haiti .5
This set the planning assets in motion for forcible entry into Haiti.
Planning and Preparation In January 1994, the deadline for Lieutenant General Cedras to
step down passed. He did not relinquish power and international pressure increased for
stronger sanctions on Haiti.
The s Stone, By J.k Rowling
In, J.K Rowling s Philosopher s Stone there are a number of references to ancient
mythologies. The events, characters and creatures in the story are not purely fictional,
most of them relate to ancient mythology embedded in different cultures. According to
Joseph Campbell, American mythologist, when people think of mythology, they usually
correlate it with Greek mythology. This is illustrated through examples such as the dog
Fluffy, the Philosopher s stone, magic numbers three and seven, and also its characters,
like Harry Potter, Dumbledore, Voldemort, and Hermione. According to Campbell, myths
provide direction, teaching young people about their own life and culture. To do so J.K.
Rowling s novel Philosopher s Stone, rewrites modern versions of ancient myths,
therefore they provide relatable guidance and teach young readers about their lives. The
novel fulfils this need by providing engaging action and supernatural events.
In Greek mythology a hero is usually born of a human woman and a god. Harry s
mother was a muggler (an ordinary person who is not a wizard) and his father was a
wizard. The hero in Greek myths fights monsters. Harry s ultimate quest is to fight
Voldemort, the monster of the story. A hero is known to be worshipped by any
ordinary audience, and therefore Harry is known to be famous to all as soon as he
arrives at Hogwarts because of his tie to Voldemort. Harry is known as the boy who
survived to the wizard world. This is explained in the

also makes it mandatory to keep all firearms that are indoors nonfunctional. It also
prohibits the registration of handguns; therefore making it illegal to carry a handgun. D.C
police officer, Respondent Heller, wanted to register a handgun just to keep at home, but
the District denied his request. Heller filed a lawsuit hoping to enjoin the city from
enforcing the bar on handgun registration, the licensing requirement insofar as it
prohibits carrying an unlicensed firearm in the home, and the trigger lock requirement
insofar as it prohibits the use of functional firearms in the home . The Court dismissed it,
but their decision was reversed by the D.C. circuit. Their reason for reversing the Court s
decision was that the Second Amendment protects an individual s right to own a firearm.
They also stated that required that the cities ban on handguns as well as the requirement
of keeping all firearms nonfunctional violated the citizens Second Amendment rights

  • 3. Why I Am A Cold Bowl Of Mac And Cheese As I sat down to eat the cold bowl of Mac and Cheese that I had brought with me, my emotions boiled over as a horror which I wish upon no one came forth. Infuriated, my rage took control of me as I jumped out of my chair, forcibly tossing the only source of food I had disposable to me in the garbage. This climatic moment was initiated upon my discovery that there was a broken microwave in the Sawyer lounge and Suffolk Universityhad yet to replace it. Yes, it seems trivial, even downright ridiculous to get that pent up over a defunct microwave, but look at the scenario from my perspective. Imagine getting up at six in the morning for a nine A.M. class, anxious about all your assignments coming up, and having your last class finish at five forty five P.M. I had wondered how many other commuter students had to suffer the same fate as I had to that day. All you want is a warm energizing meal, but the broken microwave prevents you from obtaining it. See, what the incident stated above did is affirm my notion that Suffolk is not accommodating to its commuter students. Historically, Suffolk University was a commuter school. However, since 1996, Suffolk has opened four residence halls, the most recent being The Modern Theater Residence Hall, which opened in 2010. (Suffolk University) This has resulted in a shift in the school that saw 66.9% of the admitted freshmen class of 2015 live in the residence halls (Applications at el). Conversely, as the University has shifted towards the

Narayan designed the Malgudi as the symbol of mythic space which actively participates in and determines the action of the novel. It has psychological dimension and physical locale. It brings a ritualistic dimension into the novel. Narayan has a very idiosyncratic style which has been considered as objective, unpretentious, untheoretical and volubly professional. He uses an each of several possible ways to be ordered or arranged of fantasy and realism. The Man Eater of Malgudi jumbles the ingredients of comedy to excellent purpose and provides ample entertainment, but the undercurrent of serious intension cannot be missed. (Iyenger:380) The Man Eater of Malgudi drawing universal fact that evil is always been anti life, anti nature and anti faith, in other words it makes a person blind in his misunderstanding of considering himself the most powerful person. • 6. Examine The Role Of Evidence In Criminal Trial 3. The role of the prosecutor is to decide which evidence should be presented and which is the best way to present it. Evidence is chosen based on what is best fitted to present the case and helps to build towards a guilty verdict against the offender. Judges give the final stamp of approval on all evidence presented in a case. They are given power to either admit or omit evidence based on prosecutorial or defense objects which will require interpretation of the law. The jurys duty is to review and interpret the evidence in order to find the truth within it. During criminal trials they are meant to decide if the evidence can prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt. The burden of proof of guilt in a criminal trial is placed on the prosecution because the defendant is innocent until proven guilty. 4. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Inferences are drawn based on presumptions. 9. A stipulation serves the goal of judicial economy by saving the court s time and by allowing the court to continue its business without requiring proof of a fact or issue over which the parties have no disagreement (Ingram p. 116). In other words it is a fact or group of facts that both parties agree are true and need not to be proven as such; facts that are not disputed upon or require formal proof. Stipulation to a fact means that both parties have agreed that proof of the issue at hand is not required; it also cannot be taken to a contrary position later during the trial. Ingram explains that stipulated testimony merely amounts to a mutual agreement by both parties that, if a certain person were present, he or she would testify under oath to the facts contained within the agreed stipulation (Ingram p. 190). In other words, a presumption of what a person s testimony would consist of is being stipulated based upon what their role would play in the trial as a

  • 8. The Need for Waste-to-energy on Ships The Need for Waste to energy on Ships Waste to energy power plants are lowering the amount of waste we have in landfills and turning that into energy to meet industrial needs. What if there was a way to shrink these power plants and put them onto cargo and passenger ships? According to the Palm Beach Post, the Environmental Protection Agency says, a cruise ship with 3,000 passengers can generate 210,000 of gallons of waste and sewage and 1 million gallons of grey water from showers and drains in a typical week. 1 Most of the material that lands in these waters is not biodegradable. The majority of ships will dump their waste into the ocean, while others will store it until they get back to land, only to dump the waste into landfills. There are four reasons why having small generators on ships would work: 1)The use of generators would create job opportunities; 2)The generators are environmentally safe; 3)There would be abundant source of waste to use as fuel; and 4)The generators would keep dangerous waste, like plastic, from entering the waters. The technology to produce energy from waste has already been proven to work. With a small generator, ships would be recycling the waste into energy that could be used for providing electricity, transportation, and industrial needs. Waste to nearby facilities have already proved to be a great investment on land.2 The facilities provide financial and environment benefits to the communities
  • 9. Essay On Gender Roles In Grimm s Little Red-Cap Little Red Cap or Little Red Red cap In the folktale of Little Red Cap there are gender roles that were characterized in every version that was ever written. In this folktale we can begin analyzing that it was created specifically to target the female gender, but mainly young girls and elderly women. In almost every folktale women are portrayed to be vulnerable, helpless, kindhearted and naГЇve. There are many versions of this folktale and in every version that was written the females are portrayed to be vulnerable and the males to be the dominant and superior figure. Based on the tale version by the Grimm brothers the grandmother gave her grandaughter a little cap of red velvet, which suited her so well that she would never wear anything ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This was the opportunity the wolf was looking for to gain entrance to the house and wait for Little Red Cap so he can eat her as well. In every version of this tale the little girl does realize that something is not right because she questions the grandmother for not looking like her normal self. Even if Little Red cap believed she was in danger she would not have been able to do anything because women during this era were not known for defending themselves, this was the man s job to protect and defend their family. In the end both the grandmother and the little girl get eaten by the wolf because they were both so vulnerable and naГЇve that they were convinced by this superior wolf with his charms and dominant male force. Once again towards the end of the tale the women are rescued by a huntsman who was just passing the house, and thought to himself, How the old woman is snoring! I must just see if she wants anything. Little Red Cap (Little Red Riding Hood, Grimms Version). Since the women both had to be saved by a man, again this depicts that they only reason why these women survived was because they were rescued by a man hence showing that the female is dependent on the

Clinton stays level headed during this scandal, and stays optimistic. The article goes in depth about how Clinton dislikes how human rights and women s rights aren t conjoined. She speaks very firmly about how she thinks human rights are women s rights, and how she praises the ascent of women into political positions. The article briefly speaks about democratic rivals, such as Bernie Sanders, who is threatening to defeat her in the

This stratifies Miranda Rights actives that have grave concern for the effect... that the individual may not be compelled to incriminate himself (Linkins, 2007). This practice also satisfies the State, who has interest in protecting clear evidence of proper due process procedures and statements given. In instances where states aim to protect victims under different circumstances, for example individuals using cameras to harass others; states must adapt and utilizes laws already at their disposal. 18 USC В§ 2510 2516 addresses wire tapping and privies protection against illegally tapping someone s telephone, and 47 USC В§ 223 of the Communication Decency Act prohibits interstate or foreign telecommunications that is used with the intent to annoy, abuse, threaten, or harass another... All The Pretty Horses And The Searchers Comparison Both Cormac McCarthy s All the Pretty Horses and John Ford s The Searchers depict a ВЁcowboyВЁ going on an adventure, but each shows the myth of the cowboy in very different lights. The Searchers shows John Wayne as a great man loyal to his family who will do anything to protect them. McCarthy shows the cowboy John Grady as a boy who wants to chase the dream of the life of a cowboy. These differences are very similar to the more major contrast between the novel and the movies views on the myth of the cowboy. His violence towards the captain is written as heroic even if we should not like what happens we do because it is easy and does not challenge us. McCarthy is trying to make us aware that violence even if it is tempting to watch or read should not be romanticized because it creates a false facade of invincibility, but even McCarthy and the reader cannot resist the urge to watch or read about violence. As the story of both the novel and the movie move it shows descriptions or images of setting. They both romanticize the setting of the west due to its beauty and how it represents freedom. In The Searchers there are long unbroken shots of the nature that makes the West represent freedom and independence from the normal life. How I Respond To Stereotypes Life is ten percent of what happens to you and the other ninety percent is how you respond to it Lou Haltz I remember just sitting on my bed scrolling through the countless influx of messages I had received. I could feel my face start to get hot and wet. I could not even look at myself in the mirror anymore. My vision got blurry as my eyes filled with tears. Every comment felt like a gunshot to my heart. Were the comments true? From that point on I had a pit in my stomach arriving to school each day. Every head turn and whisper gave me anxiety. I didn t want to be the center of attention. I knew deep down who the catty girls were who had started the mean comments. But, I bared not to let my conscious be right. I thought they really liked me.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The teacher told them to settle down. After 30 minutes of class, over the intercom my name was called. I went to the guidance counselor once earlier in the year, when she introduced me to the new school and Georgia. She was welcoming unlike most people I had met. This appointment was different though. She knew about the anonymous bullying. I could see the pain in her eyes. She questioned me about why these girls were attacking me. I responded with I don t know . She then asked what the messages said. I hesitated. I never talked about what they said out loud. My sister was the one who found out and told my parents. I was not one much for talking anymore either. Sadness took over my voice. I finally responded with They said things like do birds live in your hair? You re ugly. You shouldn t be alive. After talking with her I was sent to the principle with my dad. He wanted the bullying to end. The principle then talked to the girls. They were just told to stop and take down the page. Although this was resolved it really wasn t. The bullying got worse. Rumors were spread that I was the bully not them. Now everyone hated me not just the few girls. I was pushed and shoved in the hallways. Made fun of and

Being around for over seventy years these two have acquired a near endless fan base of all ages. The two kings of comics have often been portrayed as allies, though they have different views on situations. The argument of who is truly the better hero has been around since their creation. Adolf Hitler And The Holocaust Adolf Hitler, chancellor of Germany from 1933 to 1945 and fГјhrer of Nazi Germany from 1934 to 1945, was the mastermind behind both World War II within Europe and the Holocaust. In the Final Solution, concentration and extermination camps were implemented in an attempt to rid of the Jewish population entirely. Such a task, genocide, would not be done easily. By the end of World War II, over six million Jews had been killed. However, not merely Jews were subject to mass murder, but nearly five million non Jewish people. Out of all of these deaths, a range from 1,885,889 to 2,045,215 were in the concentration camp system. Furthermore, approximately one million of these deaths were carried out within the Auschwitz concentration camp complex. Thus, one in every six Jews killed during the holocaustwas killed at an Auschwitz camp. These extermination camps were the only means by which such a multitude of murder could have been efficiently accomplished. The systematic mechanization of mass murder, using gas chambers and crematoria, made such high death tolls fathomable, making efficient killing easier both physically and psychologically. The concentration camp system was established well before World War II and the Final Solution. The camps had commonly been constructed in desolate places, free from German jurisdiction. Thus, allowing murder in both large and small amounts to be carried out surreptitiously. Some, if not most, of these murders being cursorily reported. As
  • 16. Different Stages Of Development Children Go Through Essay Sensitive Periods Have you ever wondered how many times a child can repeat an activity or a song or an action without getting bored? When I was working as an assistance teacher at our school, even I used to get questions from parents about why children are repetitive in some things at certain stages. These types of questions will be answered if we all understand the concepts explained by Dr. Maria Montessori regarding different stages of development children go through. Maria Montessori believed that children pass through different phases in which at certain stages throughout their development they have a predisposition or sensitivity to learning a specific skill. These stages are called Sensitive Periods . Each period lasts for as long as it is necessary for the child to accomplish a particular stage in his development. These periods of sensitivity are transitory. They only last for a certain duration of time. Some sensitive periods run parallel, some overlap and some succeed each other. When the goal of the period is accomplished, the special sensitivity simply falls away. In other words, it reaches its peak and dies away. The concept of Sensitive Periods in a child s life will remain forever as Dr. Maria Montessori s greatest discovery. Even though the concept was first used by a famous Dutch biologist, Hugo de Vries in connection with animal development research, Dr. Maria Montessori was the one who found similarities and applied the concept to human development

The Negative Effects Of Oxidative Stress Kozakowska et al., (2015) findings show that it is possible for exercises to support special adaptations as regards to the group and vigor of the physical activity engaged. Based on their findings, they hypothesize that the adaptations occur to protect the muscles from disproportionate ROS generation, hence, enhancing the motor activities (Kozakowska et al., 2015). Their findings show that light exercises and warm up regimens reduced erythrocyte MDA and raised erythrocyte SOD performance in patients with MD who engaged in regular light workouts. This study is corroborated by the study done by Al Naama et al., (2015) whose findings were that low intensity exercises was adequate to improve MDA levels and carbonyl protein which is... Some of the changes occur through DNA mutation, swelling of the cell plasma membrane, and the impairment of the mRNA (Rowland Pedley, 2010). Research in apoptosis has divulged new findings suggesting that the process irrepressible once it begins making it one of the most highly controlled process of the cell functioning (GieГџing, 2005). Another study on the role of apoptotic activity divulges that this activity may be started by one of two pathways, namely the intrinsic and extrinsic pathway (Elmore, 2007). When MD patients engage in high intensity exercises cause a decrease in the production of ROS that makes cells in the intrinsic pathway to self engage and kill themselves as they are sensitive to the stress on the cells. The death that occurs in the cells in the extrinsic pathway is thought to be due to the activation of the caspases that cause the death of cells and enzymes that debase protein functions. In the case of extrinsic pathway cell death, it assumed that both pathways prompt the death of cells (Elmore, 2007). A research conducted by Rahimov and Kunkel (2013) explored the role of high intensity exercise on the myofiber membrane in MD. Their study found adverse effects in terms of the weakening of the myofiber membrane. The possible cause for this as they
  • 18. Downsizing Strategies and Its Effects Introduction Companies that faced a decrease in sales, market share, or profits in the 1980s and early 1990s began to realize that their human resources were expensive and underutilized. To become more competitive, companies made strategic decision to gradually lower their payroll numbers. (Anthony, Kacmar Perrewe al, 2002:434) Downsizing has become a critical issue around the world. Downsizing and mass lay offs are happening not only on US companies but also organizations in the entire industrial world. (Thornhill, Saunders, 1998:273 4) Why do firm downsize? A diversity of reasons can be lead to the decision of downsize. President Aristide took office in January of 1991 and was ousted in September of the same year by his hand picked, chief of staff of the army Lieutenant General Raoul Cedras and forced to flee the country. International outrage, fueled in large part by the well publicized flotilla of boat people bound for FloridaВё put Haiti abruptly in the international spotlight.3 These events set the stage for U.S. involvement in the Haitian crisis. In 1993, the United Nations (UN) attempted to negotiate for a peaceful resolution with Gen. Cedras, which proved unsuccessful. Gen. Cedras would agree to different stipulations, to include stepping down to get the embargo lifted, and each time he would fail to honor his end. In one such incident, with few rounds fired, thugs in his employ forcibly prevented an American ship, the USS Harlan County, from off loading UN troops intended to retrain the Haitian Army and police force.4 The UN reestablished the embargo, a naval blockade and passed UN Security Council Resolution (UNSCR) 940, authorizing the application of all necessary means to restore democracy in Haiti .5 This set the planning assets in motion for forcible entry into Haiti. Planning and Preparation In January 1994, the deadline for Lieutenant General Cedras to step down passed. He did not relinquish power and international pressure increased for stronger sanctions on Haiti.
  • 20. The s Stone, By J.k Rowling In, J.K Rowling s Philosopher s Stone there are a number of references to ancient mythologies. The events, characters and creatures in the story are not purely fictional, most of them relate to ancient mythology embedded in different cultures. According to Joseph Campbell, American mythologist, when people think of mythology, they usually correlate it with Greek mythology. This is illustrated through examples such as the dog Fluffy, the Philosopher s stone, magic numbers three and seven, and also its characters, like Harry Potter, Dumbledore, Voldemort, and Hermione. According to Campbell, myths provide direction, teaching young people about their own life and culture. To do so J.K. Rowling s novel Philosopher s Stone, rewrites modern versions of ancient myths, therefore they provide relatable guidance and teach young readers about their lives. The novel fulfils this need by providing engaging action and supernatural events. In Greek mythology a hero is usually born of a human woman and a god. Harry s mother was a muggler (an ordinary person who is not a wizard) and his father was a wizard. The hero in Greek myths fights monsters. Harry s ultimate quest is to fight Voldemort, the monster of the story. A hero is known to be worshipped by any ordinary audience, and therefore Harry is known to be famous to all as soon as he arrives at Hogwarts because of his tie to Voldemort. The District of Columbia law makes it illegal to carry a firearm that is unregistered. It also makes it mandatory to keep all firearms that are indoors nonfunctional. It also prohibits the registration of handguns; therefore making it illegal to carry a handgun. D.C police officer, Respondent Heller, wanted to register a handgun just to keep at home, but the District denied his request. Heller filed a lawsuit hoping to enjoin the city from enforcing the bar on handgun registration, the licensing requirement insofar as it prohibits carrying an unlicensed firearm in the home, and the trigger lock requirement insofar as it prohibits the use of functional firearms in the home . The Court dismissed it, but their decision was reversed by the D.C. circuit. Their reason for reversing the Court s decision was that the Second Amendment protects an individual s right to own a firearm. They also stated that required that the cities ban on handguns as well as the requirement of keeping all firearms nonfunctional violated the citizens Second Amendment rights
