Rhetorical Devices In 1984 By George Orwell
1984 was written in an age of Nazism and Stalinism, where those totalitarian and fascist
governments had their fists clenched around their citizens, controlling and terrorizing
them at every move and within every aspect of their lives. The English author, Eric
Arthur Blair, better known under his pseudonym George Orwell, wrote 1984 as a
warning, to provoke a sense of fear from his audience, which, in turn, makes his purpose,
to persuade and inform his readers to question the authority and integrity of their
governments and news stations and make certain they do not infringe upon people s
inalienable rights, all the more impactful. Orwell propels his purpose through means of
rhetorical devices, such as allusion, colloquialism, and paradoxes in order to build up fear
in his audience, which in turn more adeptly and meaningfully develops his purpose. In
order to provoke a great sense of fear within his audience, which deepens the meaning and
seriousness of his message, Orwell alludes to many things from World War II, Nazi
Germany, and Stalinist Russia. In Stalinist Russia, for instance, children were channeled
into youth Communist groups and into the Party itself. Because these children were
joining these youth groups that focused on become the ideal Communist and how they
could best serve their country, there was an ever weakening bond between children and
their families. These youth organizations such as the Little Octobrists, Young Pioneers,
and Komsomol taught the
Ronald Reagan
President Ronald Reagan Ronald Reagan was born on February 6, 1911 in Tampico,
Illinois (Huckshorn 1). He was born in a small apartment above the Pitney General
Store (Life Before 1). John Edward Reagan (his father) was a shoe salesman that was
an alcoholic. The first time he saw his son he said, For such a little bit of a fat
Dutchman, he makes a hell of a lot of noise, doesn t he (Life Before 1). This led to his
nickname, Dutch. Reagan s father barely had a grade school education, but he loved
his children. He tried to earn a living for his family, but it was difficult because he was
an alcoholic . Reagan s father s luck changed when he was chosen to be the Dixon

This turned many in the favor of Reagan. It was the worst defeat of an incumbent
president since Hoover s loss to FDR in 1932. Carter won only four small states plus
his home state of Georgia (Campaigns 4). Republicans again selected Reagan and
Bush to run in 1984. The Democrats selected Walter Mondale. Reagan used many one
liners that poked fun at his adversaries. Mondale believed that the high deficits and
unbalanced budget would put the public in his favor and against Reagan, but it did not
happen. Reagan s campaign slogan was It s morning again in America was accepted
by most of middle Americans (Campaigns 7) The Reagan s years can be said to be of
the nation who loved their president. They forgave his mistakes and overlooked his
wrongs. Reagan was shot ten weeks after his inauguration and Reagan turned this into
a lesson of courage. Reagan s courage and humor endeared him to even his enemies.
Reagan early on showed his mettle for tough minded and decisive action when he took
on the 11,600 Air Traffic Controller s union (Prime Time 1). They had called an
illegal strike and Reagan was not afraid to fire them when they were given a back to
work order. This led the public to see Reagan as a strong leader. Reagan led the move to
cut government spending in 1981 by cutting more than $25 billion from welfare
programs with another $20 billion to be implemented in 1982 and 1983. Reagan
Difference Between Working Class And Poor Mothers
For working class and poor mothers, intensive mothering and consumerism are still
equally linked to their view of themselves as good mothers. The only difference between
working class and poor mothers versus middle and upper class women is that the
working class/poor have to work harder to attain the good motherstatus. According to
Takseva (2014), Children can be used as an object of display conferring the desired social
status(p.224) and, Membership in a group is often defined through the purchasing of
goods and services (p.225). Therefore, mothers who do not present their children in the
best clothes or toys are seen as bad mothers, so mothers of the lower classes have to
work harder to ascribe their children the same status as the children in upper classes.
Many working class mothers experience guilt that due to the lack of financial resources
they are not being good mothers because they cannot provide their children with the same
life chances that they would if they had more money (Takseva, 2014, p.227). These
mothers find alternative strategies to define themselves as good mothers such as
knowing where and when to shop for bargains, and actively engaging their children into
understanding what products can/cannot be purchased so that they have realistic
expectations (Takseva, 2014, p.227). However, on the other extreme intensive mothering
is so prevalent in today s society that, Parents will go against their better judgment about
budgets, in the case of
The Delivery Service For The United States
shipping fleet. This delivery method allows Amazon more control by no longer
having to depend on the U.S. Postal Service, UPS, or FedEx. This on demand delivery
service allows independent couriers to deliver packages faster. Amazon first established
this method of delivery to offer faster deliveries to Prime members. However, it is now
offering drivers the opportunity to deliver standard packets as well. Amazon s shipping
segment has a strategic position of low cost and a niche market, which aligns perfectly
with what Flex drivers offer the company.
The potential to reduce delivery times as well as cut costs is highly likely by expanding
the use of own cargo planes and Flex drivers nationwide and internationally. As of
December of 2016, Amazon is operating a total of 346 global distribution
infrastructures, 201 of which are located in the U.S., and 37 facilities in the making. If
cargo planes could deliver to these locations and if a Flex driver delivery system is
offered directly from each of these facilities, no new distribution centers would be
required. Expedited delivery services could be offered within the cities that already have
established Amazon infrastructures. Since no new facilities are required, a combination
of Prime Air and the Flex driver delivery system could be expanded in a short period of
time both national and internationally.

The Mobile Operating System And How It Is Different From...
Abstract iOS is a mobile operating system designed by Apple Inc. to support Apple
devices such as iPhone, iPad, and iPod. iOS provides various features including
security and inbuilt iCloud. In this research paper, we are going to study the overview
of the mobile operating system and how it is different from desktop operating system.
Then, we are going to explore iOS operating system on various bases such as different
layers of iOS, iDevices, its features, security and its limitations. Introduction An
operating system is the core of any system software. It manages the resources including
the memory and the io devices and provides the interface to interact with the system.
The operating systems that are used in computers to manage the computer resources
and provide the direct user interface to the computer system are the operating systems
of a computer whereas the mobile operating system is the operating system specially
designed for mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets. These devices are
designed with a limited amount of communication and computing abilities. They are
smaller in size, with little memory and processing power compared to the computer
operating system. Thus, the mobile operating system is lightweight. Some of the
mobiles are iOS, Android, Windows Phones, Black Berry OS, webOS and Symbian [3].
iOS was founded by Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak and Ronald Wayne which was unveiled
in January 2007 at the Macworld Conference and Expo and was later released in

levels of students in time for FMP (Final Major Project). In terms of up skilling
students, we are looking at guiding the student through the door of deeper knowledge
into software use and the understanding of it. To help this work we all need to be fully
aware and in the know of what we are trying to achieve. In this instance we are looking
at design specific software and learning it in a more advanced manner. As aspiring
Architects and product designers etc, one will need to have knowledgeof certain methods,

In a flipped classroom students watch online lectures and discussion and then carry out
group dialogue, or choose to carry out research at home and engage in concepts
discussion in the studio with guidance from the tutor(s)Therefore experiencing a flipped
session in the class a while back it seemed like a more fun way of experiencing learning.
We connected our phones to our tutors instructional live session and we answered
questions and gained understanding straight away. Wouldn t we agree that its better to
enjoy learning rather than resent it, a bit harsh but i pretty sure we ve all been there.
Flipping the class and using technology in teaching is definitely not something to be
ignored, I would say its an investment into ones career..
When i thought about it I realised we already practice this but just minus the Nearpod
interface. We simply deliver the required knowledge in class via demonstration and then
students practice what is shown in the demo as we go along. Students basically learn far
quicker because they are learning by practicing more than seeking or reading how to..
Concequently If we were to give the students what we show in class as homework
everybody would have a completely different experience with the same software, not that
they couldn t follow the instructions because that would contradict the flipped class set
up. I have experienced students receptiveness to this approach, which
Why Is Atticus Finch A Good Father

town called Maycomb surpass the challenges that come, when your father is the only one
that believes in equality for all in a town filled with racism, and injustice. This father s
name is Atticus Finch. He believes everyone deserves equality no matter wha. Through
many challenges that Atticus faces he shows continuously that he is a good father. Let s

One reason to prove that Atticus is a good father is because Atticus believes in equality

(Pg When Atticus says this, he means that it is a sin to kill something so innocent that
doesn t do anything bad to us. Atticus gives the example of a mockingbird because all
they do for us is sing, and thats it. That s why Atticus doesn t want his kids using a
gun. But we can take this quote even deeper. When Atticus says it s a sin to kill a
mockingbird , he is also referring to the case of Tom Robinson. In Maycomb no one
accept Atticus likes african american people. So when they heard Mayella was raped
and beat up, and the town found out Tom Robinson was supposedly there at the crime
scene, the entire town automatically accuses of Tom Robinson raping Mayella, just
because he is black and different from other people. Atticus defenders Tom because just

because he is a good man. By this, Atticus is teaching his kids that everyone deserves
King Lear Act 1 Scene Essay
King Lear Act 1 Scene
What impact did Act 1 Scene 1 of King Lear have on you?
The first scene of the first act of King Lear had a genuinely dramatic affect upon me.
This first glimpse into the world of Lear and his subordinates sets the premise for the
whole play, unravelling within the first few pages, themes which I believe will become
increasingly evident. The scene opens with the introduction of three characters Kent,
Gloucester and Edmund. Of these three characters the only one who seems not to have
been shown in an unfavourable light yet, by this brief introduction, is Kent. This could
be intentional to set It is made clear Edmund is a bastard, and therefore illegible for
proper acknowledgement as the son of an Earl. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

At this point of the scene it can be clearly noticed how similar Goneril and Regan are, as
Regan asks Lear to measure her worth as he measured Goneril s. This closeness seems
symbolic in a way to the close knit coven in Macbeth, as these women seem to have
underlying deceptive qualities. Before considering Cordelia s answer to Lear, we must
note her comments made during Goneril and Regan s speeches . This is keen use of
the aside speech by Shakespeare as the audience would be able to hear Cordelia s
confusion over what her response shall be and her truthful belief that her love is more
ponderous than her tongue. Her indecision over what to say to her father shows really
how much she does not want to offend him, but instead she does the opposite, as he
cannot see beyond his pride, to her loyal words.
When she says Nothing , she is indicating to him that he should no the worth of her
love for him. The king, shocked with this appearance of ingratitude in his favourite
child, desired her to consider her words, and to mend her speech, lest it should mar her
fortunes. Cordelia then tells Lear that she loves him according to her station, and as
much as he loves her as his daughter. She is as she says young...and true . Lear is
obviously hurt but it seems, due to the severity of his actions, that his pride and title have
been harmed more. He disowns her and she becomes his sometime daughter . At this
point Kent intervenes on Cordelia s behalf

During his campaign for power, Benito Mussolini once stated My objective is simple. I
want to make Italy great, respected and feared. This phrase is commonly attributed to
Mussolini because he was known to have the set mentality of superiority, and would
stop at nothing to restore Italy to its prestigious position; as it held during the
Renaissance period and the ancient Roman Empire. The ancient Roman Empire was a
success on many levels, making Italy a central power of the Earth. Italy is also famous

Support for Fascism skyrocketed after the events at Versailles unfolded and Orlando
proved to be an incompetent leader. For centuries, Rome had been the most feared
empire on the planet. Their army was mammoth and they had seemingly endless tactics.
Along with the strategies of the army came their bounty of resources as a result of their
prime European location. They were the powerhouse of the world. They were
unstoppable. The Renaissance, a time of emerging art styles and forms, originated from
northern Italy. Everyone across Europe participated in the arts craze. Aspiring painters,
sculptors, and architects came to Italy to study artists work and then brought what they
learned back to their home countries. The years after the Renaissance were not Italy s
best, as England and the United States consistently beat out Italy in rankings of
influence. Under Orlando s command, there were no exceptions to this. Yet, the promise
Benito Mussolini provided to the people acted as a glimmer of hope; which was exactly

Value Chain for Competitive Advantage
Corporate and operational managers strive to create more value by optimizing the supply
chain activities. Optimization of supply chain activities means competition from other
firms, primarily on cost efficiency. However, optimization of supply chain activities
alone cannot always yield a source of competitive advantage. This is for the simple
reason that value chain not only seeks to do away with the activities that do not add
value, but establishes the importance of other support activities, including infrastructure,
technology, and so on, that play a vital role in providing the foundation for competitive
advantage. Value chain s primary activities are similar to the primary functions of the
supply chain. Where supply chain focuses on... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The objective of this paper is twofold. This paper initially provides a thorough
understanding of the value chain as introduced by Porter (1985) with a brief
theoretical review, built on the author s previous research. With this, a basic
theoretical perspective may be formed for subsequent analysis. This paper also strives
to provide a comprehension towards modification of value chain and ways to move up
the value chain to achieve competitive advantage, using the complex adaptive systems
theory and using the same through grounded theory methodology by taking on the
author s earlier findings of value chain on the Chinese company: Li and Fung and his
current effort to map the value chain on the Indian company: Infosys. Justification of
Research: Value Chain for Strategy? As outlined in my earlier research, Porter s work
on value chain stems from his efforts to take his lessons of Competitive Strategy
(Porter, 1980) forward, and provides a prescription for Competitive Advantage (Porter,
1985). There are two generic strategies cost advantage and differentiation with the focus
on broad or narrow market, differing the mix and value chain is seen as the model that
throws up the opportunities for implementing such strategies. With every pointer towards
value chain and the definition of the same not clearly stated by Porter (Porter, 1985), it
becomes imperative not only to understand the value chain but also to see how it
provides the
The Importance Of Human Action In Breakfast Of
Champions...
Human action is the only cause of Earth s slow death. They put our planet at stake for
money, they often are oblivious to what is happening to the planet, and they excessively
use Earth s resources for luxury. These immoral actions lead to the destruction of the
planet and society in the novels Breakfast of Champions and Galapagos by Kurt Vonnegut
. To start off, actions done because of money by humans contributes to the demise of the
planet. In Breakfast of Champions, this is observed by main character Kilgore Trout
during his journey. While hitchhiking to Midland City and crossing West Virginia,
Trout notes that the surface is demolished by people trying to get to the coal. He
points out that the surface of the State had been demolished by men and machinery
and explosives in order to make it yield up its coal. The coal was mostly gone now. It
had been turned into heat (Vonnegut 123). The destruction of West Virginia was
caused for the purpose of retrieving coal, to get money and to use as energy as it had
been turned into heat , and now there it is barren, with its coal and trees and topsoil
gone . The narrator tells us that the demolition of West Virginia had taken place with the
approval of the executive, legislative, and judicial branches of the State Government,
which drew their power from the people (123). The population of West Virginia decided
lawfully that the coal be mined, and when it was gone, they abandoned it, here and there

How do Mrs. Ryan and the priest influence Jackie s attitude to religion?
First Confession is the story of how Jackie, a seven year old boy, makes his first
confession before his first communion. The story takes place in Ireland at the beginning
of the 20th century and is based on O Connor s own childhood. It is interesting to see
how two opposite characters, Mrs. Ryan and the priest, can influence so much the kid s
thoughts: Mrs. Ryan instills him fear while the priest helps him to overcome this fear.

Jackies second link to religion was the priest with whom he made his first confession.
Jackie immediately likes the priest as he defends him from his sister Nora the moment
he meets him. After calling Nora a vixen and Jackie a poor man and big hefty fellow ,
Jackie thinks he is intelligent above ordinary , and immediately tells him his major sin.
Although it takes him a while to react, the priest seems to understand Jackie when he s

the kids plans. This makes Jackie feel close to the priest and really comfortable, to the
extent of being sorry of having to leave. He thought he was the most interesting character

Color Of Light Lab

O Brien Millard
Title
How does the color of light affect plant growth?
Purpose
The purpose of this lab was to find what color would be best to grow plants in.
Background Information Chlorophyll is a molecule that is found in plants to help them
photosynthesize. Photosynthesis is when plants take sunlight and convert it to food and
energy. Plants have chlorophyll in them that help them photosynthesize and help make
plants appear green. Chlorophyll is the part of the plant that absorbs and reflects the
colors in UV rays to make the plants appear green. This is why if you ever look at a
plant through a microscope you will see little green circles, these are the chlorophyll.
Plants are green because when UV rays from light hit the plant, green is reflected off of
the plant while the other colors from the UV rays are absorbed. Scientists at NASA
propose that plants grow best when exposed to red and blue light but blue seems seems
to provide the most growth. This is because red and blue light seems to be the most
absorbed. Even white lights contain a lot of blue UV rays and that is why white lights
also seem to grow plants very well. The sun contains all of the colors of the rainbow and
that is why the natural sunlight tends to grow plants better than artificial light that might
only contain the color that is advertised.
Many farmers use natural sunlight to help grow their crops, but when winter comes they
will need to know what color of light to
Condemnation Technique
Condemnation of the condemners is the next technique, which means that the individual
who committed the crime is essentially calling their condemner a hypocrite. For instance,
a teenager who is arrested for drinking may use this by saying that he knows the police
drink so why should he be in trouble. The individual using this technique turns the
attention from themselves, to shaming their condemner for their wrongdoings, thus,
avoiding feeling guilty themselves (Sykes).
Finally, appeal to higher loyalties, means that there is some other reason that made the
actions of committing the crime more important than abiding by the law in that situation.
This can occur when, outside of being a member of society, the individual also belongs to

As said before, the youngest brother goes after the deputy using the technique of denial
of victim as a rationalization. When both of his brothers go after him, though, to help
him out, this is where the technique of appeal to higher loyalties can be seen. His
brothers are deeming helping and protecting their brother to be more important than
compliance with the law. The same can be said when several men of the town see the
brothers heading out for the fight and then follow to also help out. The townsfolk have
loyalties to these brothers who they are close with and do business with. All of the
individuals involved in this situation avoid the guilt or shame of committing their crimes
by believing they have the duty of helping out others who are important to them, whether
it be a brother or
State Of The Essay
State of the Essay
The thing about these essays is that the problems I encounter with them are twofold. It s
like that scene in Jurassic Park where they realize that they have all the problems of a
major zoo and a major amusement park. First, I have to worry about the time
managment piece. When students wait until the last minute to do the work it s generally
not very good or it s incomplete or both...probably both. That is a self discipline issue
that is completely removed from what I m actually trained to teach my students. My
hands are tied when I m confronted with this.
The second problem is the problem that I actually enjoy dealing with; writing. This
problem is multifaceted and fascinating. Working together at the task of becoming better
writers is actually fun. I ve seen it become fun for other people. It s not just me. As I
stated, the writing problem is multi faceted but those facets generally reside in one of
three categories: content, form, and technicality. The content of a 110 students paper
includes the personal narrative, the universal, and the academic. I ve tried to explain the
prompt a dozen different ways , but the one that has the best track record is this one:
Think of a moment where you had an epiphany about life and what it meant to live
it...what it meant to be you and why it meant that...something you learned about yourself
that may benefit others in the telling. It sounds pretty good, but it s still inadequate. It
still elicits
Inheritance
Inheritance between classes
A key feature of C++ classes is inheritance. Inheritance allows to create classes which
are derived from other classes, so that they automatically include some of its parent s
members, plus its own. For example, we are going to suppose that we want to declare
a series of classes that describe polygons like our CRectangle, or like CTriangle. They
have certain common properties, such as both can be described by means of only two
sides: height and base.
This could be represented in the world of classes with a class CPolygon from which we
would derive the two other ones: CRectangle and CTriangle.
The class CPolygon would contain members that are common for both types of polygon.
In our case: width and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
}|
This public keyword after the colon (:) denotes the most accessible level the members
inherited from the class that follows it (in this case CPolygon) will have. Since public
is the most accessible level, by specifying this keyword the derived class will inherit all
the members with the same levels they had in the base class.
If we specify a more restrictive access level like protected, all public members of the base
class are inherited as protected in the derived class. Whereas if we specify the most
restricting of all access levels: private, all the base class members are inherited as private.
For example, if daughter was a class derived from mother that we defined as: | class
daughter: protected mother;|
This would set protected as the maximum access level for the members of daughter that it
inherited from mother. That is, all members that were public in mother would become
protected indaughter. Of course, this would not restrict daughter to declare its own public
members. That maximum access level is only set for the members inherited from mother.
If we do not explicitly specify any access level for the inheritance, the compiler assumes
private for classes declared with class keyword and public for those declared with struct.
What is inherited from the base class?
In principle, a

Summary
Cancer is a disease that involves abnormal growth of cells with a danger of spreading
over other parts of the body. Modern biological researches being made to treat different
forms of cancer have all been using one common material: nanoparticles. These particles
have properties useful for the treatment of cancer like their stability in solvents, the
adjustable surface chemistry for delivery, and the ideal size to deliver bio organic ligands
to cells1. Even combining together nanoparticles with different functionality increases
their potential use in cancer treatment. The common use of the particles in treatment is to
direct them to target cells with antibodies attached to their surfaces. There is a monetary
limitation to this method needing large and expensive machines. Some methods require
the particles to be heated with a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) machine or an
electromagnetic field which causes death of cells around the target cells.
Porous silicon particles (PSiPs), because of their biodegradability and their
Survival In Mcteague
Survival of the fittest. Usually coined as a common biology term, it takes on a new
meaning when referring to human social order. Instead of looking at strict biological
adaptations or advantages, it looks at the sociological relations of humanity. It states that
certain races and classes have more of an advantage to elevate their statuses than other
individuals. Frank Norris takes this unique theory into account in his novel, McTeague,
where he makes his opinion known by expressing survival of the fittest through the lives
of his main characters. The contrast seen in the McTeagues versus Old Grannis and
Miss Baker justify Frank Norris belief that one cannot go beyond their own sociological
limits and social improvement can only be achieved through hard work.... Show more

  • 2. Rhetorical Devices In 1984 By George Orwell 1984 was written in an age of Nazism and Stalinism, where those totalitarian and fascist governments had their fists clenched around their citizens, controlling and terrorizing them at every move and within every aspect of their lives. The English author, Eric Arthur Blair, better known under his pseudonym George Orwell, wrote 1984 as a warning, to provoke a sense of fear from his audience, which, in turn, makes his purpose, to persuade and inform his readers to question the authority and integrity of their governments and news stations and make certain they do not infringe upon people s inalienable rights, all the more impactful. Orwell propels his purpose through means of rhetorical devices, such as allusion, colloquialism, and paradoxes in order to build up fear in his audience, which in turn more adeptly and meaningfully develops his purpose. In order to provoke a great sense of fear within his audience, which deepens the meaning and seriousness of his message, Orwell alludes to many things from World War II, Nazi Germany, and Stalinist Russia. In Stalinist Russia, for instance, children were channeled into youth Communist groups and into the Party itself. Because these children were joining these youth groups that focused on become the ideal Communist and how they could best serve their country, there was an ever weakening bond between children and their families. These youth organizations such as the Little Octobrists, Young Pioneers, and Komsomol taught the
  • 3. Ronald Reagan President Ronald Reagan Ronald Reagan was born on February 6, 1911 in Tampico, Illinois (Huckshorn 1). He was born in a small apartment above the Pitney General Store (Life Before 1). John Edward Reagan (his father) was a shoe salesman that was an alcoholic. The first time he saw his son he said, For such a little bit of a fat Dutchman, he makes a hell of a lot of noise, doesn t he (Life Before 1). This led to his nickname, Dutch. Reagan s father barely had a grade school education, but he loved his children. He tried to earn a living for his family, but it was difficult because he was an alcoholic . Reagan s father s luck changed when he was chosen to be the Dixon director of the Works Progress Administration. This was a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This turned many in the favor of Reagan. It was the worst defeat of an incumbent president since Hoover s loss to FDR in 1932. Carter won only four small states plus his home state of Georgia (Campaigns 4). Republicans again selected Reagan and Bush to run in 1984. The Democrats selected Walter Mondale. Reagan used many one liners that poked fun at his adversaries. Mondale believed that the high deficits and unbalanced budget would put the public in his favor and against Reagan, but it did not happen. Reagan s campaign slogan was It s morning again in America was accepted by most of middle Americans (Campaigns 7) The Reagan s years can be said to be of the nation who loved their president. They forgave his mistakes and overlooked his wrongs. Reagan was shot ten weeks after his inauguration and Reagan turned this into a lesson of courage. Reagan s courage and humor endeared him to even his enemies. Reagan early on showed his mettle for tough minded and decisive action when he took on the 11,600 Air Traffic Controller s union (Prime Time 1). They had called an illegal strike and Reagan was not afraid to fire them when they were given a back to work order. This led the public to see Reagan as a strong leader. Reagan led the move to cut government spending in 1981 by cutting more than $25 billion from welfare programs with another $20 billion to be implemented in 1982 and 1983. Reagan
  • 4. Difference Between Working Class And Poor Mothers For working class and poor mothers, intensive mothering and consumerism are still equally linked to their view of themselves as good mothers. The only difference between working class and poor mothers versus middle and upper class women is that the working class/poor have to work harder to attain the good motherstatus. According to Takseva (2014), Children can be used as an object of display conferring the desired social status(p.224) and, Membership in a group is often defined through the purchasing of goods and services (p.225). Therefore, mothers who do not present their children in the best clothes or toys are seen as bad mothers, so mothers of the lower classes have to work harder to ascribe their children the same status as the children in upper classes. Many working class mothers experience guilt that due to the lack of financial resources they are not being good mothers because they cannot provide their children with the same life chances that they would if they had more money (Takseva, 2014, p.227). These mothers find alternative strategies to define themselves as good mothers such as knowing where and when to shop for bargains, and actively engaging their children into understanding what products can/cannot be purchased so that they have realistic expectations (Takseva, 2014, p.227). However, on the other extreme intensive mothering is so prevalent in today s society that, Parents will go against their better judgment about budgets, in the case of
  • 5. The Delivery Service For The United States shipping fleet. This delivery method allows Amazon more control by no longer having to depend on the U.S. Postal Service, UPS, or FedEx. This on demand delivery service allows independent couriers to deliver packages faster. Amazon first established this method of delivery to offer faster deliveries to Prime members. However, it is now offering drivers the opportunity to deliver standard packets as well. Amazon s shipping segment has a strategic position of low cost and a niche market, which aligns perfectly with what Flex drivers offer the company. The potential to reduce delivery times as well as cut costs is highly likely by expanding the use of own cargo planes and Flex drivers nationwide and internationally. As of December of 2016, Amazon is operating a total of 346 global distribution infrastructures, 201 of which are located in the U.S., and 37 facilities in the making. If cargo planes could deliver to these locations and if a Flex driver delivery system is offered directly from each of these facilities, no new distribution centers would be required. Expedited delivery services could be offered within the cities that already have established Amazon infrastructures. Since no new facilities are required, a combination of Prime Air and the Flex driver delivery system could be expanded in a short period of time both national and internationally. 2) Amazon s outbound shipping results for North America and International segments has been running on a net
  • 6. The Mobile Operating System And How It Is Different From... Abstract iOS is a mobile operating system designed by Apple Inc. to support Apple devices such as iPhone, iPad, and iPod. iOS provides various features including security and inbuilt iCloud. In this research paper, we are going to study the overview of the mobile operating system and how it is different from desktop operating system. Then, we are going to explore iOS operating system on various bases such as different layers of iOS, iDevices, its features, security and its limitations. Introduction An operating system is the core of any system software. It manages the resources including the memory and the io devices and provides the interface to interact with the system. The operating systems that are used in computers to manage the computer resources and provide the direct user interface to the computer system are the operating systems of a computer whereas the mobile operating system is the operating system specially designed for mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets. These devices are designed with a limited amount of communication and computing abilities. They are smaller in size, with little memory and processing power compared to the computer operating system. Thus, the mobile operating system is lightweight. Some of the mobiles are iOS, Android, Windows Phones, Black Berry OS, webOS and Symbian [3]. iOS was founded by Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak and Ronald Wayne which was unveiled in January 2007 at the Macworld Conference and Expo and was later released in
  • 7. Computer Skilled Design Case Study For this paper i am going to look at and discuss CAD (Computer aided design) skill levels of students in time for FMP (Final Major Project). In terms of up skilling students, we are looking at guiding the student through the door of deeper knowledge into software use and the understanding of it. To help this work we all need to be fully aware and in the know of what we are trying to achieve. In this instance we are looking at design specific software and learning it in a more advanced manner. As aspiring Architects and product designers etc, one will need to have knowledgeof certain methods, applications and technics. This is useful in manifesting design concepts and ideas. In a flipped classroom students watch online lectures and discussion and then carry out group dialogue, or choose to carry out research at home and engage in concepts discussion in the studio with guidance from the tutor(s)Therefore experiencing a flipped session in the class a while back it seemed like a more fun way of experiencing learning. We connected our phones to our tutors instructional live session and we answered questions and gained understanding straight away. Wouldn t we agree that its better to enjoy learning rather than resent it, a bit harsh but i pretty sure we ve all been there. Flipping the class and using technology in teaching is definitely not something to be ignored, I would say its an investment into ones career.. When i thought about it I realised we already practice this but just minus the Nearpod interface. We simply deliver the required knowledge in class via demonstration and then students practice what is shown in the demo as we go along. Students basically learn far quicker because they are learning by practicing more than seeking or reading how to.. Concequently If we were to give the students what we show in class as homework everybody would have a completely different experience with the same software, not that they couldn t follow the instructions because that would contradict the flipped class set up. I have experienced students receptiveness to this approach, which

Shoot all the bluejays you want if you can hit em, but remember it s a sin to kill a mockingbird. In Harper Lee s, To KiIl A Mockingbird, a family of three living in a town called Maycomb surpass the challenges that come, when your father is the only one that believes in equality for all in a town filled with racism, and injustice. This father s name is Atticus Finch. He believes everyone deserves equality no matter wha. Through many challenges that Atticus faces he shows continuously that he is a good father. Let s take a look. One reason to prove that Atticus is a good father is because Atticus believes in equality for everyone no matter the race. I d rather you shot at tin cans in the back yard but I know you ll go after birds. Shoot all the bluejays you want if you can hit em, but remember it s a sin to kill a mockingbird. (Pg When Atticus says this, he means that it is a sin to kill something so innocent that doesn t do anything bad to us. Atticus gives the example of a mockingbird because all they do for us is sing, and thats it. That s why Atticus doesn t want his kids using a gun. But we can take this quote even deeper. When Atticus says it s a sin to kill a mockingbird , he is also referring to the case of Tom Robinson. In Maycomb no one accept Atticus likes african american people. So when they heard Mayella was raped and beat up, and the town found out Tom Robinson was supposedly there at the crime scene, the entire town automatically accuses of Tom Robinson raping Mayella, just because he is black and different from other people. Atticus defenders Tom because just like a mockingbird, Atticus knows Tom Robinson didn t do anything wrong to Mayella because he is a good man. By this, Atticus is teaching his kids that everyone deserves
  • 9. King Lear Act 1 Scene Essay King Lear Act 1 Scene What impact did Act 1 Scene 1 of King Lear have on you? The first scene of the first act of King Lear had a genuinely dramatic affect upon me. This first glimpse into the world of Lear and his subordinates sets the premise for the whole play, unravelling within the first few pages, themes which I believe will become increasingly evident. The scene opens with the introduction of three characters Kent, Gloucester and Edmund. Of these three characters the only one who seems not to have been shown in an unfavourable light yet, by this brief introduction, is Kent. This could be intentional to set It is made clear Edmund is a bastard, and therefore illegible for proper acknowledgement as the son of an Earl. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... At this point of the scene it can be clearly noticed how similar Goneril and Regan are, as Regan asks Lear to measure her worth as he measured Goneril s. This closeness seems symbolic in a way to the close knit coven in Macbeth, as these women seem to have underlying deceptive qualities. Before considering Cordelia s answer to Lear, we must note her comments made during Goneril and Regan s speeches . This is keen use of the aside speech by Shakespeare as the audience would be able to hear Cordelia s confusion over what her response shall be and her truthful belief that her love is more ponderous than her tongue. Her indecision over what to say to her father shows really how much she does not want to offend him, but instead she does the opposite, as he cannot see beyond his pride, to her loyal words. When she says Nothing , she is indicating to him that he should no the worth of her love for him. The king, shocked with this appearance of ingratitude in his favourite child, desired her to consider her words, and to mend her speech, lest it should mar her fortunes. Cordelia then tells Lear that she loves him according to her station, and as much as he loves her as his daughter. She is as she says young...and true . Lear is obviously hurt but it seems, due to the severity of his actions, that his pride and title have been harmed more. He disowns her and she becomes his sometime daughter . At this point Kent intervenes on Cordelia s behalf

I want to make Italy great, respected and feared. Their army was mammoth and they had seemingly endless tactics. Along with the strategies of the army came their bounty of resources as a result of their prime European location. They were the powerhouse of the world. They were unstoppable. The Renaissance, a time of emerging art styles and forms, originated from northern Italy. Everyone across Europe participated in the arts craze. Aspiring painters, sculptors, and architects came to Italy to study artists work and then brought what they learned back to their home countries. The years after the Renaissance were not Italy s best, as England and the United States consistently beat out Italy in rankings of influence. Under Orlando s command, there were no exceptions to this. Yet, the promise Benito Mussolini provided to the people acted as a glimmer of hope; which was exactly what they
  • 11. The Efficacy Of Sodium Fluoride RESEARCH METHODS 2 QUESTION 1: PART A: 1. Aims: To determine the efficacy of sodium fluoride varnish (22,600ppm) application biannual and use of high concentration fluoride toothpaste (2800ppm) together in high caries risk children wearing orthodontic braces against development of white surface lesions (WSL) between 12 16 years of age. 2. Objectives: To detect and classify progress of caries using ICDAS system in high caries risk children wearing orthodontic braces with combined use of fluoride varnish applications biannually and use of high concentration fluoride toothpaste (2800ppm) vs. use of fluoride varnish application biannually and normal strength (1450 ppm) fluoride toothpaste. 3. Hypotheses: The combined use of biannual fluoride application and high concentration fluoride toothpaste reduced the occurrence and progress of caries measured according to ICDAS system in high caries risk children. 4. Study design: 2 year randomised controlled trial was conducted. PART B: Methods for the proposed study: 1. Population of interest: The study was conducted at a very busy orthodontic practice. A total of 186 participants were included in the study. Inclusion criteria for children to be part of study was: Patient fitted with fixed brace in last 2 month, no active carious lesion present, dietary analysis shows high cariogenic diet, committed to attend every six months. Children excluded from the study: children who already
  • 12. Value Chain for Competitive Advantage Corporate and operational managers strive to create more value by optimizing the supply chain activities. Optimization of supply chain activities means competition from other firms, primarily on cost efficiency. However, optimization of supply chain activities alone cannot always yield a source of competitive advantage. This is for the simple reason that value chain not only seeks to do away with the activities that do not add value, but establishes the importance of other support activities, including infrastructure, technology, and so on, that play a vital role in providing the foundation for competitive advantage. Value chain s primary activities are similar to the primary functions of the supply chain. Where supply chain focuses on... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The objective of this paper is twofold. This paper initially provides a thorough understanding of the value chain as introduced by Porter (1985) with a brief theoretical review, built on the author s previous research. With this, a basic theoretical perspective may be formed for subsequent analysis. This paper also strives to provide a comprehension towards modification of value chain and ways to move up the value chain to achieve competitive advantage, using the complex adaptive systems theory and using the same through grounded theory methodology by taking on the author s earlier findings of value chain on the Chinese company: Li and Fung and his current effort to map the value chain on the Indian company: Infosys. Justification of Research: Value Chain for Strategy? As outlined in my earlier research, Porter s work on value chain stems from his efforts to take his lessons of Competitive Strategy (Porter, 1980) forward, and provides a prescription for Competitive Advantage (Porter, 1985). There are two generic strategies cost advantage and differentiation with the focus on broad or narrow market, differing the mix and value chain is seen as the model that throws up the opportunities for implementing such strategies. With every pointer towards value chain and the definition of the same not clearly stated by Porter (Porter, 1985), it becomes imperative not only to understand the value chain but also to see how it provides the
  • 13. The Importance Of Human Action In Breakfast Of Champions... Human action is the only cause of Earth s slow death. They put our planet at stake for money, they often are oblivious to what is happening to the planet, and they excessively use Earth s resources for luxury. These immoral actions lead to the destruction of the planet and society in the novels Breakfast of Champions and Galapagos by Kurt Vonnegut . To start off, actions done because of money by humans contributes to the demise of the planet. In Breakfast of Champions, this is observed by main character Kilgore Trout during his journey. While hitchhiking to Midland City and crossing West Virginia, Trout notes that the surface is demolished by people trying to get to the coal. He points out that the surface of the State had been demolished by men and machinery and explosives in order to make it yield up its coal. The coal was mostly gone now. It had been turned into heat (Vonnegut 123). The destruction of West Virginia was caused for the purpose of retrieving coal, to get money and to use as energy as it had been turned into heat , and now there it is barren, with its coal and trees and topsoil gone . The narrator tells us that the demolition of West Virginia had taken place with the approval of the executive, legislative, and judicial branches of the State Government, which drew their power from the people (123). The population of West Virginia decided lawfully that the coal be mined, and when it was gone, they abandoned it, here and there an inhabited dwelling still

First Confession is the story of how Jackie, a seven year old boy, makes his first confession before his first communion. The story takes place in Ireland at the beginning of the 20th century and is based on O Connor s own childhood. It is interesting to see how two opposite characters, Mrs. Ryan and the priest, can influence so much the kid s thoughts: Mrs. Ryan instills him fear while the priest helps him to overcome this fear. Mrs. Ryan is the women encharged of preparing Jackie and his class mates to take their first communion. She has to get them closer to God and turn them into good Catholics. Jackie immediately likes the priest as he defends him from his sister Nora the moment he meets him. After calling Nora a vixen and Jackie a poor man and big hefty fellow , Jackie thinks he is intelligent above ordinary , and immediately tells him his major sin. Although it takes him a while to react, the priest seems to understand Jackie when he s told that he planned to kill his grandmother with a kitchen knife, and shows interest in the kids plans. This makes Jackie feel close to the priest and really comfortable, to the extent of being sorry of having to leave. He thought he was the most interesting character he d ever met in the religious line , and leaves the church happily and with no fear of returning. Although both characters want to obtain the same
  • 15. Color Of Light Lab Honors Biology IRP Fall 2017 O Brien Millard Title How does the color of light affect plant growth? Purpose The purpose of this lab was to find what color would be best to grow plants in. Background Information Chlorophyll is a molecule that is found in plants to help them photosynthesize. Photosynthesis is when plants take sunlight and convert it to food and energy. Plants have chlorophyll in them that help them photosynthesize and help make plants appear green. Chlorophyll is the part of the plant that absorbs and reflects the colors in UV rays to make the plants appear green. This is why if you ever look at a plant through a microscope you will see little green circles, these are the chlorophyll. Plants are green because when UV rays from light hit the plant, green is reflected off of the plant while the other colors from the UV rays are absorbed. Scientists at NASA propose that plants grow best when exposed to red and blue light but blue seems seems to provide the most growth. This is because red and blue light seems to be the most absorbed. Even white lights contain a lot of blue UV rays and that is why white lights also seem to grow plants very well. The sun contains all of the colors of the rainbow and that is why the natural sunlight tends to grow plants better than artificial light that might only contain the color that is advertised. Many farmers use natural sunlight to help grow their crops, but when winter comes they will need to know what color of light to
  • 16. Condemnation Technique Condemnation of the condemners is the next technique, which means that the individual who committed the crime is essentially calling their condemner a hypocrite. For instance, a teenager who is arrested for drinking may use this by saying that he knows the police drink so why should he be in trouble. The individual using this technique turns the attention from themselves, to shaming their condemner for their wrongdoings, thus, avoiding feeling guilty themselves (Sykes). Finally, appeal to higher loyalties, means that there is some other reason that made the actions of committing the crime more important than abiding by the law in that situation. As said before, the youngest brother goes after the deputy using the technique of denial of victim as a rationalization. When both of his brothers go after him, though, to help him out, this is where the technique of appeal to higher loyalties can be seen. His brothers are deeming helping and protecting their brother to be more important than compliance with the law. The same can be said when several men of the town see the brothers heading out for the fight and then follow to also help out. The townsfolk have loyalties to these brothers who they are close with and do business with. All of the individuals involved in this situation avoid the guilt or shame of committing their crimes by believing they have the duty of helping out others who are important to them, whether it be a brother or
  • 17. State Of The Essay State of the Essay The thing about these essays is that the problems I encounter with them are twofold. It s like that scene in Jurassic Park where they realize that they have all the problems of a major zoo and a major amusement park. First, I have to worry about the time managment piece. When students wait until the last minute to do the work it s generally not very good or it s incomplete or both...probably both. That is a self discipline issue that is completely removed from what I m actually trained to teach my students. My hands are tied when I m confronted with this. The second problem is the problem that I actually enjoy dealing with; writing. This problem is multifaceted and fascinating. Working together at the task of becoming better writers is actually fun. I ve seen it become fun for other people. It s not just me. As I stated, the writing problem is multi faceted but those facets generally reside in one of three categories: content, form, and technicality. The content of a 110 students paper includes the personal narrative, the universal, and the academic. I ve tried to explain the prompt a dozen different ways , but the one that has the best track record is this one: Think of a moment where you had an epiphany about life and what it meant to live it...what it meant to be you and why it meant that...something you learned about yourself that may benefit others in the telling. It sounds pretty good, but it s still inadequate. It still elicits
  • 18. Inheritance Inheritance between classes A key feature of C++ classes is inheritance. Inheritance allows to create classes which are derived from other classes, so that they automatically include some of its parent s members, plus its own. For example, we are going to suppose that we want to declare a series of classes that describe polygons like our CRectangle, or like CTriangle. They have certain common properties, such as both can be described by means of only two sides: height and base. This could be represented in the world of classes with a class CPolygon from which we would derive the two other ones: CRectangle and CTriangle. The class CPolygon would contain members that are common for both types of polygon. In our case: width and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... }| This public keyword after the colon (:) denotes the most accessible level the members inherited from the class that follows it (in this case CPolygon) will have. Since public is the most accessible level, by specifying this keyword the derived class will inherit all the members with the same levels they had in the base class. If we specify a more restrictive access level like protected, all public members of the base class are inherited as protected in the derived class. Whereas if we specify the most restricting of all access levels: private, all the base class members are inherited as private. For example, if daughter was a class derived from mother that we defined as: | class daughter: protected mother;| This would set protected as the maximum access level for the members of daughter that it inherited from mother. That is, all members that were public in mother would become protected indaughter. Of course, this would not restrict daughter to declare its own public members. That maximum access level is only set for the members inherited from mother. If we do not explicitly specify any access level for the inheritance, the compiler assumes private for classes declared with class keyword and public for those declared with struct. What is inherited from the base class? In principle, a

Summary Cancer is a disease that involves abnormal growth of cells with a danger of spreading over other parts of the body. Modern biological researches being made to treat different forms of cancer have all been using one common material: nanoparticles. These particles have properties useful for the treatment of cancer like their stability in solvents, the adjustable surface chemistry for delivery, and the ideal size to deliver bio organic ligands to cells1. Even combining together nanoparticles with different functionality increases their potential use in cancer treatment. The common use of the particles in treatment is to direct them to target cells with antibodies attached to their surfaces. There is a monetary limitation to this method needing large and expensive machines. Some methods require the particles to be heated with a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) machine or an electromagnetic field which causes death of cells around the target cells. Porous silicon particles (PSiPs), because of their biodegradability and their
  • 20. Survival In Mcteague Survival of the fittest. Usually coined as a common biology term, it takes on a new meaning when referring to human social order. Instead of looking at strict biological adaptations or advantages, it looks at the sociological relations of humanity. It states that certain races and classes have more of an advantage to elevate their statuses than other individuals. Frank Norris takes this unique theory into account in his novel, McTeague, where he makes his opinion known by expressing survival of the fittest through the lives of his main characters. The contrast seen in the McTeagues versus Old Grannis and Miss Baker justify Frank Norris belief that one cannot go beyond their own sociological limits and social improvement can only be achieved through hard work....
