Chapter 14 Of The Holy Bible

Sweetman adds to the problem at hand with the following, The religious worldview in general is

Embryonic Of Stem Cell Research
Embryonic Stem Cell is when you have to destroy the egg inside, thus rendering that egg to
become a human. The Stem Cell is put into a petri dish where it will be cultured and feed
nutrients (Bethesda). The Stem Cell is almost like a blank code, It can replenish a part of the
body that is hurt or has a disease (Bigloo). Stem cells can be programed any where in the body to
fix the issue. When the stem celldivides it will keep producing till the part of the body is back to
normal (Bethesda). Stem cells can be program as muscle cells, a red blood cell, or even a brain

America Stem Cell Research has been ridiculed and looked down at. Religious and different
political parties though say its morally unethical, that the scientist are playing god and those

Getting Out Of A Sound Of Squealing Brakes
The familiar sound of squealing brakes signaled the beginning of the best part of my night.
Getting out of the house, without a sound, was the tricky part. If I timed it just right, I could use
the car s engine to my advantage and cover the creak from the door. Once I was outside, I was in
the clear. I scampered over to the XL white Suburban and gingerly climbed into the passenger
seat. My mom sat inside, listening to soft jazz, decompressing from a long day s work as a nurse
in the ICU. As with most nights, she feigned annoyance before excitedly walking me through the
events at the hospital. Some nights were filled with triumphant saves, others drowned in an
untimely loss. The stories varied, yet a central idea remained: take care of the person instead of the
patient. In my youth, her stories registered at face value. All too soon, I would see the truth in her
words firsthand.
It started with a dull ache through my left ear immediately following diving practice. A number of
weeks passed, allowing the ache to progress to a stabbing pain. My family grew concerned with my
discomfort, culminating in a visit to an otolaryngologist. It took Dr. C only a moment to confirm
what my pediatrician had suspected. I had a tumor. Any other physicianwould have referred to it as
a cholesteatoma. Dr. C never used that word with me. There was no use for medical jargon; he
knew it was not what I needed to hear. Instead, Dr. C understood how scary the word tumor
sounded and recognized I

Jennifer And Norman In Bluffing By Gail Helgason
Integrity is telling myself the truth. And honesty is telling the truth to other people (Spencer
Johnson). Jennifer and Norman in Cathy Jewison s short story The Prospector s Trail and Liam
and Gabriella in Gail Helgason s short story Bluffing both struggle to commit to their problematic
relationships. However, the couples take different approaches to resolving their issues: Jennifer and
Norman choose honesty while Liam and Gabriella favor deception. By embracing honesty, Jennifer

Comparing Story Of An Hour And The Road
The Story of an Hour and The Road follow a similar premise in terms of the boy and Mrs.
Mallard both have been stripped of living a different life because of the confines of their
respective worlds. The landscape in both pieces is used to show the entrapment of both characters,
but also provide a level of hope based on their interactions with the landscape.
The landscape of The Road is constructed with the repetition of words like dark and ashes to
create the sense of a desolate country built from the remains of what existed prior to it. Mrs.
Mallard in The Story of an Hour looks out her window to a landscape that is described as
blooming with the new spring life and delicious breath of rain which creates a sense of hope and
happiness.

The Importance Of Caregiving America s Veterans
Why I appreciate America s Veterans Would you volunteer to leave your family and friends for
months or years at a time to serve your country? Would you volunteer to do nearly the hardest
and most dangerous job for pay that barely pays the bills? Military veterans are the men and
women, moms and dads, brothers and sisters who answered the call of service and sacrifice.
They volunteer to fight for our rights and freedoms no matter the cost so that we may live in a
country with freedoms not available in most other countries. American Veterans risk their lives for
us, everyday hoping they won t be killed or injured while protecting us from our various enemies,
so that we can live our lives with safety and security. I am very thankful for

People do evil things because they are evil. Some people are evil in the way that some things are
coloured indigo. They commit their evil deeds not to achieve some goal, but just because of the
sort of people they are. Terry Eagleton Are people evil or their behaviours evil? I truly believe
there are no evil people in the world. What makes people evil are the wrongdoing actions they take.
Although there were various evil things happening in the book, I m just going to focus on one
person who stuck out the most with the iniquity actions he took, Meursalt. In the beginning of
chapter 2 page twenty, Marie and Meursalt are having a conversation. Meursalt tells her that his

conflict. A Arab got in a fight with Raymond. Meursalt got irritated to where he shot and killed the
Arab. Then I fired four more times at the motionless body... (chapter 6, page 59)
There are better ways to handle a situation other than taking someone s life. Guns don t kill
people, people kill people. In everything you do, do it all for the glory of God 1 Corinthinas 10:31
Meursalt didn t see God through his eyes. He never thought about him or prayed for forgiveness.
All his actions came from his head, he did what he wanted to do and what made him feel good.
When he saw the priest, the priest asked, why have you refused to see me? . I don t believe in
God Meursalt. (chapter 5, page 116) People are evil in ways they make themselves to be. If you
can t control the way you act then you need to find some help. Go to someone you trust, or simply
talk to God. Killing someone is never okay, not loving your family is never okay, and not believing
in God is a sin. Meursalt did actions that can t be redone. There s not one evil person in this world,

The Principles of Scientific Management and Its...
The Principles of Scientific Management and its Applications in Modern Day Organizations
Introduction
Managers have been continuously trying to figure out the best way to manage the workplace since
the start of the industrial revolution. The goal is to maximize production output and minimize cost
therefore getting maximized profit while still keeping workers happy and motivated. Different
methods have been introduced and tested. But perhaps one of the most influential and popular
ideas in management is scientific management or taylorism as people know it. Taylorism, along
with fordism, which follows after, are considered to be the classical work organization. The reason
behind this is because; these ideas correspond to the first ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

This would make the production a lot quicker as the tasks are going to be less complicated. For
example, in a company that produces chair, the task in making the chair would be separated to,
cutting the parts off wood, assembly of the parts, paint and finishing touches, but even this can still
be separated into smaller components. This will result in reducing the skill required for a task
The second principal is separate planning and doing. At the time, workers do all the planning and
doing, in taylorism, the planning are taken from the workers and given to managers. This would
make planning more optimal; standardizing every task. Before, workers would do his job with
the way that he thinks is best, without or with only little help from the management. Now, the
managers bear new duties, which are; first is developing a science in a man s work for each
element, second is to select the workmen in a scientific way and the train and develop them, third
is cooperating with the men to insure that all the work are being done according to the principles
of science that was developed, and the fourth is the responsibility of the workers and the managers
are now divided almost equally.
The third is the separation of direct and indirect labour. The skilled workers (direct labour) are
removed of all preparations and servicing tasks, and instead performed by unskilled and cheaper
labour (indirect labour). Because of the first principle, which is maximum

The s Theory Of Entrepreneurship
As one looks at the history of entrepreneurship, they will notice the variety of definitions and
entrepreneurial elements that economists use to explain the topic. Although there are many vital
parts of this concept, Israel Kirzner developed his own view that many economists take into account
when creating their own definition. Basically, Kirzner s theory of entrepreneurship held the idea of
alertness as its backbone. Without the use of alertness, entrepreneurs would never discover
opportunities, which allows their competitors to easily surpass them. However, if the entrepreneuris
alert, then they will notice an opportunity where innovation is needed and in return they will
usually profit. When others analyzed Kirzner s theory, they criticized the amount of value that
Kirzner put on alertness because they believed he lost sight of the creativity and the imagination
aspect of entrepreneurship. After Kirzner developed his theory, years later an economist by the
name of Frederic Sautet decided to elaborate more on Kirzner s concept. Basically, Sautet portrayed
alertness as the central piece to his and Kirzner s view of an entrepreneur; however, he went into
more depth in order to help silence Kirzner s critics. Sautet explains, It simply means that before
one unleashes one s own creativity, imagination, and judgment, one has to come to recognize one s
own creativity, imagination, and judgment (95). Sautet explains that Kirzner did not disregard
creativity and imagination

The Prince By Niccol ГЎЛќВ€ Machiavelli
The Prince by NiccolбЅЂ Machiavelli was quite interesting and at the same time quick shocking.
It is basically written as a book with a set of rules of how he governed his people and how other
government officials should govern their people and territories. This book is one of the main
reasons that some people link Machiavelli to Satan and sometimes call him Satan s son or rightful
heir. This book is also what brought the term Machiavellian into existence which basically means:
Being or acting in accordance with the principles of government analyzed in Machiavelli s The
Princeand characterized by subtle or unscrupulous cunning, deception, expediency, or dishonesty
(Random House Dictionary). Taking that all into account George Bull did... Show more content on

However it was published and we read it today; after all, it was a different time, different place.
The Prince can really be divided into four different parts with multiple chapters (ideas or ideals).
The four parts are new princedoms and Free states which encompasses chapters 1 9; military and
the strength of principalities, chapters 10 13; the qualities and prudence of the prince
(Machiavelli), chapters 14 23; and prudence and chance around the situation in Italy at the time,
chapters 24 26. So it is logical to start with the first section of The Prince which is the section
focusing on the new princedoms and Free States. One main point that seems to continually bring
its self to light throughout the book is the idea that principalities are hereditary. This is referring
to the fact that the only rulers, princes, in that certain area all come from the same family or
lineage and that this concept of royalty is considered old or not new. If said lineage were to
change that would change the meaning of it to new. This basically means that the new kingdom,
princedom, is entirely new and there was nothing that is related to the current princedom that
happened before. A general rule that never fails is: that whoever is responsible for another s
becoming powerful ruins himself, because this power is brought into being either by ingenuity or
by force, and both of these are

Lewis Cass And Andrew Jackson s The Cherokee Removal Act
The Cherokee Removal Act is believed to have been causation of prolonged engagement between
the settlers of Georgia, Alabama, and parts of North and South Carolina up until 1836, when
Andrew Jackson officially signed it into law. Andrew Jackson had a lot to say about the need for
removal of natives and two main reasons why it has been such a lengthy procedure. Another man
who also had something to say about the matter at hand was Lewis Cass who was Governor of the
Michigan Territory from 1816 1831. He was well known as one of the most experienced, and highly
thoughtful experts in the country on United StatesIndian policy and the histories and cultures of the
tribes. (114) Cass, unlike President Jackson, believed Indians could survive,... Show more content

Andrew Jackson in his state of the union address of 1830 had the pleasure to announce his long
fought battle in favor of removal had began coming to existence. Humanity and Philanthropy
were two of his main points for why this has been such a strenuous task put upon the nation by
the natives. Humanity has often wept over the fate of the aborigines of this country, and
philanthropy has been long busily employed in devising means to advert it. (127) Jacksonbrings
up the point regarding Americans moving west and humanity not weeping at the fact that they
leave but are rather joyful due to the freedoms of body and mind (128) America grants. Jackson
even goes far as asking the American public How many thousands of our own people would
gladly embrace removing to the west on such conditions? (128) Jackson also discussed the
removal procedure and about how the government can be fair and liberal if they agreed to the
laws of the states from which they are present or how the government can be harsh if the
alternative for removal isn t accepted by the natives. Both Andrew Jackson and Cass have similar
arguments relating to Philanthropy between Civilized people and the Indians believing it has
failed but what about the will of Young Wolf? It seems from reading that will that Young Wolf had
a fair knowledge of Civilized culture after death and how a legal contract between property, money
and even slaves was

For example, Sargent et al. (1998) found that males are more enjoyable for combative sports (e.g.,
boxing, karate, football, ice hockey) since males assume attracted to violent and aggressive
exposure. On the other hand, female preferred stylistic sports (e.g., gymnastics, figure skating, and
tennis) since females seem preferring elegance of athletic displays.
Some research also indicated that individual differences (sensation seeking; SS) can be variance on
the consumption of televised sports (McDaniel, 2003; Zuckerman, 1988; 1994). The perception of
sensation seeking, which is a biologically determined personality, was related to optimum
stimulation level (OSL) and optimum level of arousal (OSL) which helps explain media consumer
behavior characters like media consumption and content preferences (Kassarjian Sheffet, 1991).
Sensation seeking suggests that a demand for stimulation and arousal explain individual s preference
, and react to media violence (Goldstein, 1999; McDaniel, 2003; Zuckerman, 1988; 1994). High
sensation seekers (HSS) prefer graphically violent content (e.g., Aluja Fabregat 2000, Aluja
Torrubia, 1998; Schierman Rowland, 1985; Greene Krcmar, 2005). In addition, sensation seeking
was positively connected to violent combative sports (e.g., boxing, karate) for both males and
females. Therefore, we can estimate that HSS are more interested in violent image and message of

able to achieve just by helping and mentoring others. Science and sports has always kept me
engaged in my educational life as well as my social life; playing basketball at a local community
centre and taking part in event such as football tournaments indoor and outdoor. The skills gained
from these experience has helped me in my own life such as taking charge, decision making, being
organised and being able to adapt to change in situations. Attending different sports tournaments
helped me improve in different areas of sports as well as dealing with different type of competitions
and challenges. During my secondary school education I formed a team and competed in an indoor
football tournament against other team within Birmingham. It was challenging but I kept the team
together and we managed to come second in the tournament, which then lead to us competing with
other team across the country. Many skills and experiences were gained during this time and also
my attitude and behaviour towards my goals changed; I became stronger, more positive and more
determined so that I wouldn t give up in my future goals. I

The Cultural Change Required For Start And Sustain Lean
Lean is an approach that can be used in every organization to increase customer satisfaction,
decrease costs, improve quality, and increase the output, by eliminating waste and creating value
(Manos Vincent, 2012, p.1). According to (Manos Vincent, 2012, p.2) people are the most critical
element of lean production. People are the soul and the heart of every organization. They are
greatest asset and the organizations cannot achieve the goals without their efforts. The success or
failure of the lean system in the organization will be contingent on the people who perform it rather
than on any tools, equipment, software, and techniques. Organizations can gain supreme results by
considering people as the main asset and invest sufficient time, efforts and in employing and
developing the right people (Dalal, 2011, p.584). This paper will review a suggested plan for
creating the cultural change required to start and sustain lean. It is address the five of the cultural
enablers and the core fundamentals of people, specify the cultural processes, techniques, and
practices required for a lean organization. A Lean Culture Lean is not only a set of tools and
techniques implemented by an organization; it is a cultural change. It is importance to develop a
foundation for this cultural change, to ensure the success of any organization that starts the lean
journey. Manos and Vincent (2012, p.2) defines the lean culture as the entire tools of lean,

An Essay On Ender s Journey
In the novel Ender s Game by Orson Scott Card, the main character, Ender, undergoes a journey
to a secret battle school in space. Ender is recruited by the government to fight a war against an
alien race trying to invade Earth. Is he violent and war driven like his brother or is he nice and
peace seeking like his sister? In the story his fear of becoming like his brother begins to turn
Ender into his brother. This fear is finally realized at the end of the book when he unknowingly
killed millions of people in order to commit the genocide of the alien race and end the war.
Ender takes many journeys throughout the book, his literal, and most obvious, being his trip to the
battle school. In the battle school, he learns many valuable lessons such as, when to stand your

to seek closeness to particular people and to feel more secure in their presence (Atkinson et al,
2000, p90). This essay will attempt to provide a brief and up to date summary of attachment theory
and research, show how it is linked to Child Abuse, the Family, and Children and Divorce, critically

However, the political implications of the era in which it was developed cannot be ignored with
men returning from war and needing jobs back! In contrast, Freud Dann (1951) found that the
negative outcome for the child of deprivation (lost or separated from mother), or privation (no
particular person to attach to), in concentration camps, was alleviated by the company of other

Bowlby s somewhat pessimistic view of the consequences of maternal separation/deprivation has
been actively debated and was the catalyst for much contemporary work. Rutter (1971) in Rutter
(1999) p65, challenged Bowlby s (1960) findings that linked significant separations in early
childhood with stealing tendencies/delinquency in boys. He found that emotional disturbances

Addiction And Family Addiction
United States (US) has the highest rate of substance use among all developed countries (Johnson
Vaderhoef, 2016). Fifty percent of individuals living in the US has the comorbid mental illness
(Johnson Vaderhoef, 2016). Approximately two million people have admitted annually to inpatient
treatment centers in the United States (Johnson Vanderhoef, 2016).
Addiction includes much more than the neurobiology of the brain. Genetic factors have found in
about half the patients with addiction (American Society of Addiction Medicine [ASAM], 2011).
Factors include biological deficit, repeated drug use, cognitive and affective distortions that impairs
perceptions, problems with interpersonal relationships, challenged to coping skills, and co
occurring of other psychiatric disorders (ASAM, 2011). Addiction characterized by the inability to
consistently abstain, impairment in behavior control, craving, diminished recognition of significant
problems, and dysfunctional emotional response (ASAM, 2011). Cognitive changes also occur that
includes preoccupation with substance and blaming problems on other factors in life rather due to
addiction (ASAM, 2011). Working with outpatient and adult and crisis stabilization units in last two
semesters has made me realize that Addiction is more of a family illness than the individual
disease. Each in the addiction family takes on a special role to survive the family disease of
addiction. One of the families I have followed a South Asian family

Perspective In The Renaissance
To understand the importance of perspective in art during the Renaissance era, one must
understand the importance of art during the Renaissance era. Art was closely associated with
religion, but was also a way to depict what is and what was. Perspective came to rise during the
Italian Renaissance for a myriad of reasons, but mainly in creating a sense of realism and allowing
on to manipulate space.
The utilization of perspective allowed the viewers to have a more intimate relationship with items
of worship in a sacred setting. Many paintings were closely tied to sacred paintings as an item to
assist worship or to retell the narrative of the Bible. the renaissance was also a time of fascination
with realism, exampled by Vasari s praise of the bare torso for its perfection as an anatomic study in
regard to the Piero della Francesca. Art is also very complicated in that it grounds its
persuasiveness in the truth of optical experience (Pardo, Giotto and the Thing Not Seen). The
addition of perspective allows sacred paintings to appear three dimensional, adding a complexity to
worshippers as it seems as the bible narrative or the person of worship (Mary, Christ, etc.) is
appearing out of the painting directly to the worshipper. This interaction caused the viewer to feel
more intimate in their worship as they felt that they had a genuine, almost tangible connection with
the actual religious figures. Perspective in sacred use is further shown with the possibility that the

African Arts Midterm
Midterm essay Lingyi Liu
After studying Arts of Africa for two weeks, I have learnt a lot of African arts. It is interesting that
most of them are used at funerals to honor the death of ancestors. People use sculptures, masks,
illustration and some other tools to memorize the dead and even people from different culture have
their unique ways to honor it. Death rituals in Africa are come from the cultural beliefs, they
believe that death and life are continuous. The dead people still alive in a spirit way. Rituals in
Africa ensures the ancestor will not be disturbed and his descendant will be protected. If they fail
to do this, the ghost will remain in the world and cause some problems. The descendant will lose
the asylum from their ancestor. So, it s really important for the African to honor the dead.
According to the images in the lecture, I found the most common purpose of these arts are wearing

EFFECT OF DOLL TESTS ON BROWN V. BOARD EDUCATION DECISION BRADLEY A.
SMITH JOHNSON COUNTY COMMUNITY COLLEGE INTRODUCTION TO
PSYCHOLOGY Date Introduction Doctor s Kenneth and Mamie Clark were psychologists who
conducted several experiments in the 1940s. The most famous of these experiments were
colloquially known as doll tests. They were aimed at studying the psychological effects of
discrimination or segregation on African American children. In this test, the psychologists used
four dolls that were identical. However, the colors of the dolls were different two were black; two
were white. They wanted to test the children s perception of race. The subjects of the test were

Moreover, he wanted to find out the extent to which color and sense of own race affected their
self esteem or judgment about themselves. It was in rural Arkansas where Dr. Kenneth got
disturbed when he conducted his experiments. He asked one of the black children which doll was
similar to him on basis of color. The child pointed at the brown doll with a smile on his face. In
addition, the child said that the doll was a nigger just like him. This was disturbing to the doctor, as
other children in Massachusetts would respond to the question by crying and running away. The
interpretation of the results was that they were good and reliable evidence that stigmatization by
segregation and discrimination caused internalized racism. According to many critics, the study is
only well known for reference in court cases and not the experimental and intrinsic value of work.
It has been argued by many that the study lacks theory and control of variables. In addition, the fact
that an African American couple conducted the study may have caused biases to prove that African
Americans were stereotyped negatively. Despite the many criticisms of the experimental results
lacking weight, the test is popularly known for its social relevance and impact. It established
contrast between children attending integrated schools in New York and those attending segregated
schools in Washington DC. It was in the year 1954 that the experiment produced some impact on

What Is The Great Irish Potato Famine
The text under consideration is a letter written by Mr Nicholas Cummins, a magistrate of Cork,
on 17 December 1846 imploring the Duke of Wellington to be aware of the precarious conditions
in which Irish people are living and to start acting. This period of mass starvation is mostly known
and called as The Great Irish PotatoFamine .
In line with the previous we could say therefore that this text is first addressed to the Duke of
Wellington by taking advantage of his Irish origins but also keeping in mind that he was an
influential person politically speaking. And secondly, this letter is also addressed to the British
nation in general, since Mr Nicholas Cummins himself sent a copy of the letter to The Times which
was published none other than on 24 December which is Christmas Eve.
It is important to say that the text to deal with is a literary journalistic one since it is letter what is

in a superficial way what happened, a great hunger. But also the word Potato gives us some clues
as by the 1800s, the potato had become the staple crop in the poorest regions and as this
vegetable is rich in protein, carbohydrates, minerals and vitamins, it is possible to stay healthy on
a diet of potatoes alone . By autumn, the potatoes were ready to be harvested and eaten during the
long winter into the spring and early summer. This system worked year after year until a fungus
appeared on potato plants which caused blight spread throughout the fields by cool breezes. In
1845 only one third of the crop was lost, but in 1846 the fungus reappeared and the failure of the

Barbie Body Image Essay
When a young girl looks into the mirror and does not see the beauty of herself, but instead sees
her flaws and imperfections, her confidence drops, and so does her self worth. The leading cause
for this issue is the unrealistic body image that Barbie models to girls. Why is this happening in
our society and how can we help?
This is happening because we give our children dolls that are thin, tall, blonde, and very
unrealistic; we give our children Barbies. We are giving our children figures as role models, but
those models are impossible to attain. Barbie lives a in a perfect happy world, where she has
everything she wants and can be whatever she wants to be. That is what we all want, that is why
barbies are enticing toys. But, the problem is that young girls can start to associate the unattainable
Barbie figure with happiness. The Barbie body image is planted into their minds. When they can

Wal Mart Company Overview Essay
Basic History Overview
Wal Mart s history is one of innovation, leadership and success. It started with a single store in
Rogers, Arkansas in 1962 and has grown to what is now the world s largest and arguably, the most
emulated retailer. Some researchers refer to Wal Mart as the industry trendsetter. Today, this retailing
pioneer has annual revenues of over $100 billion, 3,000 stores and more than 750,000 employees
worldwide. Wal Mart operates each store, from the products it stocks, to the front end equipment
that helps speed checkout, with the same philosophy: provide everyday low prices and superior
customer service. Lower prices also eliminate the expense of frequent sales promotions and sales
are more predictable. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
What tactics has it used to become a major global retailer?
Wal Mart s success is mainly based on its concentration of a single business strategy. This strategy
has achieved enviable success over the last three decades without relying upon diversification to
sustain its growth and competitive advantages. In a sense, Wal Mart s low prices, service, and
smile are their leading marketing strategies. However, there is risk in this strategy, because
concentration on a single business strategy is similar to putting all of a firm s eggs in one
industry basket . On the business side, Wal Mart is the country s most sophisticated retailer in
terms of using information systems. Their cross docking inventory and transportation services
able them to have the goods needed by the consumer at all times. In order for Wal Mart to
become a major global retailer, they have closely examined and utilized tactics to profit from their
many stores. One great tactic is starting free trade zone distribution centers, in turn, saving almost
$500,000 annually. Another tactic includes their service from when you walk in the store to when
you leave. Also, their bread and butter is again the technology they utilize. They can track how
much of one item has been sold on any giving day, and if not a hot commodity at one store, they
will ship it out to another where it is being sold much faster.
2. Can Wal Mart sustain its competitive advantage in global retailing?

Patience In Disney World
It takes great patience and love in order to make the kind of progress that benefits everyone.
(Mashos) Patience is a needed characteristic in today s society. An example of patience would be
my trip to Disney World when I was seven years old. When my parents sprung the surprise that
we would be going to Disney World, the trip itself was still a month and a half out. That month
and a half was the longest of my entire life. I was so excited and it seemed so far away. Finally
the day came and I woke up a ball of sunshine, Everyone wake up! It s Disney day, it s Disney
day! We packed our bags frantically figuring out what was important to bring and what was not,
and then we drove to the airport with the anticipation buzzing in the air. Meanwhile at the airport
we proceeded to wait an additional hour to get through security and wait for the plane to be ready
to board. On the plane we flew for 3 hours and landed in Orlando, Florida, which is a relatively

we could go on a boat on a man made river and hear a story and see some wildlife. We were

Allegory In Lord Of The Flies Research Paper
Thesis Golding s work uses allegory to portray that the nature of man is inherently evil. Key
Points 1.When their plane crashes onto the desert island, the young English boys are left to
establish a government of their own. At the unanimous approval of the group, Ralph becomes
the leader. This decision is primarily because he is the one who blew the conch shell that
gathered the lost boys. In truth, Ralph could not have blown the conch shell if Piggy hadn t
recognized its importance and taught him how to use it. Piggy could have blown the conch
shell, too, if it weren t for his asthma. Though Piggy is the most knowledgeable candidate, he is
plowed over and unaccepted because of his pudgy appearance. This shows man s inherently evil
nature because it is an instance of man judging someone based solely upon appearance. It can be
interpreted as an allegorical reference to war, in instances where logic and reasoning (Piggy) is
ignored to follow an outwardly powerful leader (Ralph). 2.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

One of the young boys, Simon, claims to see a beast in the island jungle. While the other boys act
skeptical, fear is clearly within them. When hunting, they feel as though they are being hunted
themselves. Another character, named Phil, has a nightmare about the beast and awakens to
something moving in the jungle. The beast, a pig head on a stick called Lord of the Flies , ends
up talking to Simon. It says, Fancy thinking the Beast was something you could hunt and kill!
The beast continues, You knew, didn t you? I m part of you? Close, close, close! (Golding 143)
Simon passes out in panic. When he wakes up, he returns to the boys and shares the news.
However, the boys do not take this story with open arms. They end up killing Simon, in fear that he
is the beast. This portrays the nature of man is inherently evil because it not only states that the
beast lives within them, but is also shown when an innocent boy is

Yasser Arafat Research Paper
Yasser Arafat In The Move Toward a Palestinian State
Yasser Arafat was born into a Palestinian family in Egypt in 1929. Even in his early life he began
fighting from age eighteen onwards, first the British, then the Israelis. At the age of thirty he
founded a magazine in 1959 which aimed to create and identity for the Palestinians living in
camps. This was a good way of giving the people publicity and also shows that his original motives
when he was young were good.
As time went on, Arafat s actions began to contradict his early good intentions as he set up Al

He gained respect for the Palestinian cause.
Apparently realising his tactics were ineffective; in 1974 he opted for a new strategy. He was
allowed to access the UN claiming I have come bearing an olive branch and a freedom fighter s
gun. Do not let the olive branch fall from my hand. This quote sums up Arafat s ambivalence. He
claims he wants peace but if that requires terror, he seems prepared for anything. However the
fact that he mentioned the olive branch, a symbol for peace, gave good publicity for the cause
and this was also the first time a Palestinian had managed to speak to the UN so this was an
important step in the fight for a Palestinian state because there would be a chance for discussion.
In 1982 Israel attacked the Lebanon and Arafat fled. His leadership was weak but the upshot of
the attacks was support gained from various parties. In 1987 Arafat seemed to change his tactics
once more, making him look all the more fickle and unstable. He announced Intifada and at last
respected the right for Israel to exist and renounced terror. At the time this showed that Arafat
wanted to gain international respect and again would allow discussion, the possibility of peace and
a move towards a Palestinian state.
When the Gulf war began in 1990, Arafat made the massive mistake of siding with Saddam

Coral Harbor Research Paper
I am Coral and I live about 5000 feet below sea level in the Coral Sea. During the week of May 4
8, 1942, the first air sea battle in history took place as I watched from below. Japan was looking
to control the Coral Sea by taking all of New Guinea and the Solomon Islands to remove all of
the Allied bases between Japan and Australia. They also wished to take over and destroy the
American navy s aircraft carriers since they were not able to do so in the Battle at Pearl Harbor.
On the 3rd of May, the Japanese occupied Tulagi island and set up a seaplane base. The next day,
the Allied forces, led by Rear Admiral Frank J. Fletcher, launched strikes against Tulagi. The
attack eliminated the Japanese use of the base which sparked the beginning of this battle. The
Yorktown sunk a Japanese destroyer and five merchant ships and join the Lexington later that day.
May 6th, Australia spotted the Japanese but failed to shoot it down. They both continued to
search for each other unsuccessfully due to partial visibility in the area of operations. Admiral
Fletcher decided to separate his forces so that one was more susceptible to Japanese air attack
without being under any coverage. Although, neither American force was successful in finding the
Japanese forces, the Japanese aircraft was able to find and sink several U.S. ships and aircrafts.
On May 8th, the Japanese and the Allies found each other and launched all accessible aircrafts. The

Interview with the store manager at the Salvation Army Thrift Store
Conducting the interview
For this proposal, I interviewed the Surrey Salvation Army Thrift Store manager, Narmada
Indrasiri. My goal was to discover whether the store raises enough money to help its rehabilitation
program through donations. My interview consisted of questions such as (1) Do you get enough
donations to fulfil store target? (2) Approximately how many donations you get per day? (3) Are
all the donations in good condition to resell? (4) if not, what are the difficulties you have been
facing? (5) How much money spend on the garbage pickup truck?

they get donations from approximately 35 donors per day, not every donation is reusable. Some
of them are going to recycle bins and some unwanted donations end up in their garbage bins. By
virtue of this, their garbage spending has gone up as it does not take much longer to pile up. She
stated that the store alone spends between $900 to $1000 money on dumping their overflowing

Elements Of Roman And Greek Architecture
Roman and Greek architecture are very prominent examples of early historic architectural
advancements. These cultures left imprints on society, founding future forms of art and architecture
through their inspirational elements are artists. These long lasting cultural elements have created
echoes as deep into the future as now, the 21st century. Looking at the Southern Methodist Church
in downtown Austin, we see a variety of Greek and Roman architectural elements. The Southern
Methodist Church has a variety of classical elements that attribute it to past temples and structures
created by the Roman and Greek cultures, appropriated to fit into the religion of the church by the
manipulation of certain parts, such as the frieze. To begin, the first and foremost part of the
discussion is the elements of Greek and Roman architecture that have been incorporated and
appropriated for the building of this church. The first and foremost noticeable feature would be the
columns, architrave, and pediment. The columns are classic ionic columns, starting from the ornate
base and leading up to the capital, all the elements of the classical ionic columns are present,
creating an almost life like appearance to the columns as they grow and support the architrave, a
characteristic that can be traced back to Egyptian columns in temples and funerary buildings.
Further, the shaft of the column follows the Greek style of creation. The divides are evidence that

Deviance And Social Control Book Report
For many years deviant behavior and social control have been a common topic of discussion.
The book Deviance and Social control by Michelle Inderbitzin, Kristin Bates and Randy Gainey,
gives readers a greater outlook on the relationship between deviance and social control. When
someone acts or behaves in a way that is different from what is considered as a norm or an
accepted social standard, it is known as deviance. For example, this explains when people join
gangs, or even become murderers. Objectively given conception of deviance is when everyone
agrees to general set of norms; this means everyone agrees to a particular norm and conditions of
society. However, the objectively given conception of deviance applies to gang members that
murder because murdering someone is viewed as a deviant behavior in society, and is viewed as
unacceptable. Disciplinary actions that take place when... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Formal social control includes all sorts of processing by the criminal justice system, such as parole,
probation, imprisonment, fines, and hospitalization in a rehabilitation facility or mental institution.
At the age of 25 or older violent criminals should be sentenced to jail for the rest of their lives, and
those under 25 years of age should be incarcerated for 20 years. In this new version of social control
inmates that were arrested for murder would not receive commissary throughout their entire
sentence, and they should not be near the other populations. The death penalty should not be
acceptable in any states no matter what illegal behavior caused the offender to be imprisoned. The
inmates rap sheet should play a major part into their indictment as well. There should be a
counseling program for the inmates so that they can understand what they have done, the factors
that lead to that outcome, and most importantly coming to acceptance of ones

How To Use Juche Ideology In North Korea
Education is controlled by the government in North Korea, thus, the student is regularly taught
about the Juche ideology or how great their Leader are, besides the basic subjects such as
mathematics, science or literature. The purpose is to brainwash the young generation, to make
them realize how good their government is, what contribution that Kim Jong II and Kim II Sung
did for the country, even though in the classrooms, there are always two portraits of these leaders to
remind people the significance of them. In addition, many students in North Koreahave admired
their leaders as great examples of study and good characteristics. By teaching the Juche ideology,
the government hopes students will acknowledge the critical impacts of Communism and Kim II
Sung s ideology on the North Korea success (Macias, 2014). As a result, the students love working

Therefore, it has a critical influence on the North Korea society. The media in North Korea is
strictly controlled by the government and it has ranked as the single most censored nation on the
globe. From newspapers, television to radio are all run by the state. Since Kim II Sung took
control, the government strictly monitors and limits all information that enters the nation. Most
news in the North Korea is delivered and approved by the government. Television is very
restricted. In fact, television sets sold in North Korea are specially designed to show only state run
channels. Broadcast include propaganda movies and official footage of North Korea parades or
other events. Similarly, some North Korea home, especially in Pyongyang, come equipped with
radios. They tune into just one station, which broadcasts official news and patriotic music. While
some other cities have movie theaters, they show only the state s own propaganda (Behnke,

  • 4. Getting Out Of A Sound Of Squealing Brakes The familiar sound of squealing brakes signaled the beginning of the best part of my night. Getting out of the house, without a sound, was the tricky part. If I timed it just right, I could use the car s engine to my advantage and cover the creak from the door. Once I was outside, I was in the clear. I scampered over to the XL white Suburban and gingerly climbed into the passenger seat. My mom sat inside, listening to soft jazz, decompressing from a long day s work as a nurse in the ICU. As with most nights, she feigned annoyance before excitedly walking me through the events at the hospital. Some nights were filled with triumphant saves, others drowned in an untimely loss. The stories varied, yet a central idea remained: take care of the person instead of the patient. In my youth, her stories registered at face value. All too soon, I would see the truth in her words firsthand. It started with a dull ache through my left ear immediately following diving practice. A number of weeks passed, allowing the ache to progress to a stabbing pain. My family grew concerned with my discomfort, culminating in a visit to an otolaryngologist. It took Dr. C only a moment to confirm what my pediatrician had suspected. I had a tumor. Any other physicianwould have referred to it as a cholesteatoma. Dr. C never used that word with me. There was no use for medical jargon; he knew it was not what I needed to hear. Instead, Dr. C understood how scary the word tumor sounded and recognized I ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This will result in reducing the skill required for a task The second principal is separate planning and doing. • 12. The s Theory Of Entrepreneurship As one looks at the history of entrepreneurship, they will notice the variety of definitions and entrepreneurial elements that economists use to explain the topic. Although there are many vital parts of this concept, Israel Kirzner developed his own view that many economists take into account when creating their own definition. Basically, Kirzner s theory of entrepreneurship held the idea of alertness as its backbone. Without the use of alertness, entrepreneurs would never discover opportunities, which allows their competitors to easily surpass them. However, if the entrepreneuris alert, then they will notice an opportunity where innovation is needed and in return they will usually profit. When others analyzed Kirzner s theory, they criticized the amount of value that Kirzner put on alertness because they believed he lost sight of the creativity and the imagination aspect of entrepreneurship. After Kirzner developed his theory, years later an economist by the name of Frederic Sautet decided to elaborate more on Kirzner s concept. Basically, Sautet portrayed alertness as the central piece to his and Kirzner s view of an entrepreneur; however, he went into more depth in order to help silence Kirzner s critics. Sautet explains, It simply means that before one unleashes one s own creativity, imagination, and judgment, one has to come to recognize one s own creativity, imagination, and judgment (95). So it is logical to start with the first section of The Prince which is the section focusing on the new princedoms and Free States. One main point that seems to continually bring its self to light throughout the book is the idea that principalities are hereditary. This is referring to the fact that the only rulers, princes, in that certain area all come from the same family or lineage and that this concept of royalty is considered old or not new. • 23. Perspective In The Renaissance To understand the importance of perspective in art during the Renaissance era, one must understand the importance of art during the Renaissance era. Art was closely associated with religion, but was also a way to depict what is and what was. Perspective came to rise during the Italian Renaissance for a myriad of reasons, but mainly in creating a sense of realism and allowing on to manipulate space. The utilization of perspective allowed the viewers to have a more intimate relationship with items of worship in a sacred setting. Many paintings were closely tied to sacred paintings as an item to assist worship or to retell the narrative of the Bible. the renaissance was also a time of fascination with realism, exampled by Vasari s praise of the bare torso for its perfection as an anatomic study in regard to the Piero della Francesca. Art is also very complicated in that it grounds its persuasiveness in the truth of optical experience (Pardo, Giotto and the Thing Not Seen). The addition of perspective allows sacred paintings to appear three dimensional, adding a complexity to worshippers as it seems as the bible narrative or the person of worship (Mary, Christ, etc.) is appearing out of the painting directly to the worshipper. This interaction caused the viewer to feel more intimate in their worship as they felt that they had a genuine, almost tangible connection with the actual religious figures. The child pointed at the brown doll with a smile on his face. In addition, the child said that the doll was a nigger just like him. • 28. Barbie Body Image Essay When a young girl looks into the mirror and does not see the beauty of herself, but instead sees her flaws and imperfections, her confidence drops, and so does her self worth. The leading cause for this issue is the unrealistic body image that Barbie models to girls. Why is this happening in our society and how can we help? This is happening because we give our children dolls that are thin, tall, blonde, and very unrealistic; we give our children Barbies. We are giving our children figures as role models, but those models are impossible to attain. Barbie lives a in a perfect happy world, where she has everything she wants and can be whatever she wants to be. That is what we all want, that is why barbies are enticing toys. But, the problem is that young girls can start to associate the unattainable Barbie figure with happiness. The Barbie body image is planted into their minds. The same book was included in another ensemble called Slumber Party in 1965, along with a pink bathroom scale permanently set at 110 lbs., which would be around 35 lbs. underweight for a woman 5 feet 9 inches tall. It started with a single store in Rogers, Arkansas in 1962 and has grown to what is now the world s largest and arguably, the most emulated retailer. Some researchers refer to Wal Mart as the industry trendsetter. Today, this retailing pioneer has annual revenues of over $100 billion, 3,000 stores and more than 750,000 employees worldwide. Wal Mart operates each store, from the products it stocks, to the front end equipment that helps speed checkout, with the same philosophy: provide everyday low prices and superior customer service. Lower prices also eliminate the expense of frequent sales promotions and sales are more predictable. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... What tactics has it used to become a major global retailer? Wal Mart s success is mainly based on its concentration of a single business strategy. This strategy has achieved enviable success over the last three decades without relying upon diversification to sustain its growth and competitive advantages. In a sense, Wal Mart s low prices, service, and smile are their leading marketing strategies. However, there is risk in this strategy, because concentration on a single business strategy is similar to putting all of a firm s eggs in one industry basket . On the business side, Wal Mart is the country s most sophisticated retailer in terms of using information systems. Their cross docking inventory and transportation services able them to have the goods needed by the consumer at all times. In order for Wal Mart to become a major global retailer, they have closely examined and utilized tactics to profit from their many stores. One great tactic is starting free trade zone distribution centers, in turn, saving almost $500,000 annually. Another tactic includes their service from when you walk in the store to when you leave. Also, their bread and butter is again the technology they utilize. They can track how much of one item has been sold on any giving day, and if not a hot commodity at one store, they will ship it out to another where it is being sold much faster. 2. • 30. Patience In Disney World It takes great patience and love in order to make the kind of progress that benefits everyone. (Mashos) Patience is a needed characteristic in today s society. An example of patience would be my trip to Disney World when I was seven years old. When my parents sprung the surprise that we would be going to Disney World, the trip itself was still a month and a half out. That month and a half was the longest of my entire life. I was so excited and it seemed so far away. Finally the day came and I woke up a ball of sunshine, Everyone wake up! It s Disney day, it s Disney day! We packed our bags frantically figuring out what was important to bring and what was not, and then we drove to the airport with the anticipation buzzing in the air. Meanwhile at the airport we proceeded to wait an additional hour to get through security and wait for the plane to be ready to board. We had no idea what patience was until we actually attempted to ride some of those rides. There was a jungle safari ride in which we could go on a boat on a man made river and hear a story and see some wildlife. We were weaving back and forth through rope barriers listening to the conversations of people around us as we dutifully awaited our turn, like soldiers preparing for battle. • 31. Allegory In Lord Of The Flies Research Paper Thesis Golding s work uses allegory to portray that the nature of man is inherently evil. Key Points 1.When their plane crashes onto the desert island, the young English boys are left to establish a government of their own. At the unanimous approval of the group, Ralph becomes the leader. This decision is primarily because he is the one who blew the conch shell that gathered the lost boys. In truth, Ralph could not have blown the conch shell if Piggy hadn t recognized its importance and taught him how to use it. Piggy could have blown the conch shell, too, if it weren t for his asthma. Though Piggy is the most knowledgeable candidate, he is plowed over and unaccepted because of his pudgy appearance. This shows man s inherently evil nature because it is an instance of man judging someone based solely upon appearance. It can be interpreted as an allegorical reference to war, in instances where logic and reasoning (Piggy) is ignored to follow an outwardly powerful leader (Ralph). 2.... The beast, a pig head on a stick called Lord of the Flies , ends up talking to Simon. It says, Fancy thinking the Beast was something you could hunt and kill! The beast continues, You knew, didn t you? I m part of you? Close, close, close! (Golding 143) Simon passes out in panic. When he wakes up, he returns to the boys and shares the news. Even in his early life he began fighting from age eighteen onwards, first the British, then the Israelis. At the age of thirty he founded a magazine in 1959 which aimed to create and identity for the Palestinians living in camps. This was a good way of giving the people publicity and also shows that his original motives when he was young were good. Apparently realising his tactics were ineffective; in 1974 he opted for a new strategy. He was allowed to access the UN claiming I have come bearing an olive branch and a freedom fighter s gun. Do not let the olive branch fall from my hand. This quote sums up Arafat s ambivalence. He claims he wants peace but if that requires terror, he seems prepared for anything. However the fact that he mentioned the olive branch, a symbol for peace, gave good publicity for the cause and this was also the first time a Palestinian had managed to speak to the UN so this was an important step in the fight for a Palestinian state because there would be a chance for discussion. In 1982 Israel attacked the Lebanon and Arafat fled. His leadership was weak but the upshot of the attacks was support gained from various parties. In 1987 Arafat seemed to change his tactics once more, making him look all the more fickle and unstable. He announced Intifada and at last respected the right for Israel to exist and renounced terror. During the week of May 4 8, 1942, the first air sea battle in history took place as I watched from below. Japan was looking to control the Coral Sea by taking all of New Guinea and the Solomon Islands to remove all of the Allied bases between Japan and Australia. They also wished to take over and destroy the American navy s aircraft carriers since they were not able to do so in the Battle at Pearl Harbor. On the 3rd of May, the Japanese occupied Tulagi island and set up a seaplane base. The next day, the Allied forces, led by Rear Admiral Frank J. Fletcher, launched strikes against Tulagi. The attack eliminated the Japanese use of the base which sparked the beginning of this battle. The Yorktown sunk a Japanese destroyer and five merchant ships and join the Lexington later that day. May 6th, Australia spotted the Japanese but failed to shoot it down. They both continued to search for each other unsuccessfully due to partial visibility in the area of operations. Admiral Fletcher decided to separate his forces so that one was more susceptible to Japanese air attack without being under any coverage. Although, neither American force was successful in finding the Japanese forces, the Japanese aircraft was able to find and sink several U.S. ships and aircrafts. These cultures left imprints on society, founding future forms of art and architecture through their inspirational elements are artists. These long lasting cultural elements have created echoes as deep into the future as now, the 21st century. Looking at the Southern Methodist Church in downtown Austin, we see a variety of Greek and Roman architectural elements. The Southern Methodist Church has a variety of classical elements that attribute it to past temples and structures created by the Roman and Greek cultures, appropriated to fit into the religion of the church by the manipulation of certain parts, such as the frieze. To begin, the first and foremost part of the discussion is the elements of Greek and Roman architecture that have been incorporated and appropriated for the building of this church. The first and foremost noticeable feature would be the columns, architrave, and pediment. The columns are classic ionic columns, starting from the ornate base and leading up to the capital, all the elements of the classical ionic columns are present, creating an almost life like appearance to the columns as they grow and support the architrave, a characteristic that can be traced back to Egyptian columns in temples and funerary buildings.
