Logan And Cultural Imperialism
The film, Logan is laced with a couple of the course concepts which are powerlessness, othering,
cultural imperialism, marginalization, and lastly violence. Regardless, the two concepts discussed in
class which impacted the most while analyzing the film are violence and cultural imperialism.
Certainly, violence stood out like an oasis in a barren desert when Wolverine s hand is covered in
blood and shaking at the beginning. Cultural imperialism is a key concept when Dr. Xander and Pierce
are together getting out of the helicopter. Which means they are human and are working together to
destroy all mutants.
In the film, Logan, the major characters are Wolverine (X 24) played by Hugh Jackman, Charles
portrayed by Patrick Stewart, Daphne ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Correspondingly, systematic violence is a concept which intensely develops through the film. The
mutants captured are mentally and physically abused to create children with their powers and they will
be used as killing machines. As a matter of fact, before the mutant genocide, they helped humans
when they were in a life and death situation and now the people are paying them by killing the whole
mutant population. According to The Five Faces of Oppression written by Young states that Some
groups live with the knowledge that they most fear random, unprovoked attacks / which have no
motive but to damage, humiliate and destroy the person (Young 61). The whole X Men team, which
consisted of mutants is gone since the Reavers are killing the mutants and creating genetically
engineered children with the same abilities as the mutants in order to use them as their secret weapon.
In order, for the mutants to survive the genocide they need to stay together. Previously, without a
doubt, Wolverine had to protect Charles even though his healing factor is slowing down because of all
the drugs he is digesting. After, they find Laura, who is only 11 years old and is able to kill like Logan
and with faster reflexes than him. As a matter of fact, it is expected that she will be the new protector
of Wolverine because in the film, Logan is shown sleeping on her lap and she was just looking

Theme Of Mental Asylum In One Flew Over The Cuckoo s Nest
How Realistic the Mental Hospital Was In One Flew Over the Cuckoo s Nest Ken Kesey s novel One
Flew Over the Cuckoo s Nest depicts a story of a sane man, Randle McMurphy, who decides to escape
imprisonment by entering a psychiatric ward instead. The entire story is viewed in the eyes of a
schizophrenic patient, Chief Bromden. This novel is set around the 1950 s in a mental asylum in
Oregon. Besides the plot of the story, Kesey also manages to illustrate a realistic 1950 s mental
hospital. The facilities, therapy and the release of patients in mental asylum in One Flew Over the
Cuckoo s Nest by Ken Kesey realistically depicts the conditions of mental hospitals during the 1950 s.

In the novel, they separated the patients in the ward into two groups, the Acutes and the Chronics. The
Acutes were those that can get cured and eventually leave, while the Chronics are in for good (Kesey
19). The two groups received different treatment and care from the nurses throughout the novel. In the
1950 s, short term patients often received better care than long term patients that were not expected to
recover (The Short Story). In both the book and in real life, the mental hospitals both separated
patients that had potential to get better and leave the institution and from those that did not; the Acutes
were the short term patients and the Chronics were the long term patients. Moreover, those that could
leave eventually were either voluntary or involuntary patients. McMurphy said to Harding Why didn t
you tell me she could keep me committed in here till she s good and ready to turn me loose (Kesey
166). McMurphy is an example of an involuntary patient. During the 20th century, a person
involuntarily admitted could be discharged from the approval of the superintendent and the consent of
a psychiatrist (Nesnera and Baldwin 27). In the novel, McMurphy only became aware of his situation
in the ward after he spoke to the lifeguard. On the other hand, Harding explained to McMurphy, I m
voluntary. I m not committed (Kesey 167). In the

Woodland Middle School Observation
Starting my opening school experience I was nervous. I could not eat or sleep the day before. I woke
up bright and early to arrive at Woodland Middle School by 7:30am only to find out the school did not
open up till 8:30am. I was not upset that I got there so early, and in fact, it was a great because I got a
chance to get familiar with the school and its principal, Dr. J. Stamper. Woodland Middle school is
located behind Camp Creek and is on Stone Rd. Their colors are blue and gold. The mascots of the
school are the Wolverines. Woodland s mission statement: Woodland Middle School is on the

Long Learner. (Woodland, 2015)
During the first day meeting Dr. Stamper introduced me to all the teachers at the school. During this
brief meeting I learned that Woodland is a focus school. A focus school is the school s bottom 25% is
to low from the state average; the gap between the state average and the bottom 25 % is not
progressing fast enough in the achievement zone. The achievement zone was designed from a group of

Character Reference Letter
I am writing this letter to you to provide a character reference about Mr. Layton Williams, who I know
as a friend for a period of 22 years. During this time he has consistently proven himself to be a reliable
and dedicated friend and confidant. He is a family oriented man who has always been a strong support
system for his family and friends, often putting their needs above his own. He took on the
responsibility of providing for his siblings and mother at an early age and is still solely responsible for
the care of his elderly mother.
Mr. Williams is a person of integrity, honesty and good moral character. With the circumstances as
they are this might seem hard to believe, nonetheless this is the person I know him to be. Please bear

Prayer Should Not Be Allowed In Public Schools
Not During School Hours What s the harm in an occasional spoken prayer at school every now and
then? Are times such as an assembly, sporting event, or graduation acceptable? The debate of prayer in
public schools has been an ongoing issue for over fifty years now. It seems like a simple yes or no
answer. As a Christian who attended a private school, my initial answer was a definite yes. I have
always believed that God should be present in every school all over the world mainly because my
school s activities were centered around prayer. However, after much research, I have found a
different point of view. Prayer should not be allowed in public schools due to the fact that these
schools consist of numerous religions, it is unconstitutional, and it creates different burdens for each
person in the school. Prayer should not be allowed in public schools because more than just Christians
attend these schools. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In an article titled, The Dangers of Religious Instruction in Public Schools, a Wisconsin State Supreme
Court justice noted, There is no such source and cause of strife, quarrel, fights, malignant opposition,
persecution, and war, and all evil in the state, as religion. Let it once enter our civil affairs, our
government would soon be destroyed. Let it once enter our common schools, they would be
destroyed. (Gaylor). In all actuality, the Supreme Court does not have a set rule that the students can t
pray while they are at school, but it is set that the school itself can t hold religious assemblies
(Strauss). Both Gaylor and Strauss agree that this separation is important. Public schools are funded
and controlled by the government. If religion were placed back in the schools it, too, would be
controlled by the government. It would soon not hold the same value that it does while it is separate
from the school

What Is The Literary Analysis OfThe Republic Of Plato
The Republic of Plato is a fiction about a conversation. This conversation bridges a huge amount of
topics, most regarding concepts of justice or goodness. The points of the book seemingly is to sort out
what makes a good man and what makes a good city. God men and good cities, Socrates and friends
conclude, must fit a myriad of criteria. During the course of this fiction the idea of fiction itself comes
up, specifically idea s about using imitation as an art and how it makes a man and city just or unjust.
Plato speaking as Socrates delivers a few idea s about this which all develop as he builds his city and
the characters figure that imitation in poetry is wholly unjust. In the end, Socrates sets up idea s about
the regulation of art that contradicts what Plato is doing, but he does this to beckon the reader to
specific meaning in the book itself. The Republic of Plato is told through the lens of Socrates, this is
established on the first page of narrative through notation. Socrates: I went down to the Piraeus (327a)
the book reads. Although short, this is important regarding the fact that this notation changes the novel
into a dialogue, it implies that Socrates is the one narrating. Plato is in effect imitating Socrates. This
becomes increasingly interesting as the discourse about the just city and justice itself progresses.
Socrates and friends agree that poets won t he use a narration like the one we described a little while
ago concerning Homer s verses, and

Strict Constructionist Dbq
When it comes to the understanding of the Constitution, Jeffersonian Republicans are generally
characterized as strict constructionists who were opposed to the broad constructionism of the
Federalists. This characterization however, fails to take into account the complexities of the domestic
and foreign policies supported during the presidencies of Jefferson and Madison, as well as ideas held
by the Federalists support the idea that they supported some principles of a strict constitutional
interpretation when it suited their cause. Between 1801 and 1817 it is clear to see that both parties to
some extent crossed their political lines when it was the best way to achieve their political agendas.
On August 13th 1800, before his election Thomas Jefferson wrote to Gideon Granger, a future
member of Jefferson s cabinet, about taking down the Federalists, protecting the state s rights, and that
the Constitution is the wisest piece of political literature to address the needs of such a varying and
diverse nation(Doc. A). Thomas Jefferson was the Third president of the United States, the primary
author of the Declaration of independence, and believed that America should grow as an agrarian
nation with a limited central government and strong state governments. This document shows that
Jeffersonian Republicans were strict interpreters of the Constitution by telling us directly that
changing the federal constitution to hurt state governments defines this new nation as a monarchy, and

Stuffed Mushrooms Research Paper
These incredible baked stuffed mushrooms are an impressive and tasty appetizer perfect for a special
occasion meal or cocktail party. Gooey sharp cheddar cheese provides just the right amount of
decadence without over powering the mushrooms. The toaster oven is perfect for this appetizer; it
heats up quickly and bakes quickly. A convection model will ensure even baking and perfect results.
The close proximity of the heating elements in a toaster oven lead to perfectly browned tops. I m
getting hungry just thinking about these delectable treats!

The Day Of The Great Gatsby By F. Scott Fitzgerald
She was just an average 18 year old girl, when she thought her life was over. It all had happened three
months ago. It was just another sunny fall day, in the Malibu, California. She had gone through four
years of high school just to get to this point. She thought it would one of the best days of her life, until
it all fell apart. Finally after three months she thought it was all over. Then Becky Newman realized
she was in for a very long ride, that would change everything.

Oh my bad, this is Jessica she is my roommate. Becky said pointing to Jessica.
Nice to meet you. Jessica said
You too, Fabio replied.
So Jessica, Becky, and Fabio ended up spending the rest of the day together. They had dinner and then
realized it was getting late, so Fabio went back to his dorm and Jessica and Becky went back to theirs.
As Becky was in the verge of sleep, her phone started ringing. It was an unknown number so she
ignored it at first. The same number then called back immediately. This time she answered.
Hello? Becky said groggily.
Hello, is this Becky Newman? An emotionless voice said.
Yes this is she, may I ask who is calling. Becky asked confused as to why someone would be calling at

Dropping The Atomic Bomb On Hiroshima And Nagasaki
The Atomic Bomb Paula Rabens December 11, 2014 DeVry University Online The event that I chose
to discuss is the dropping of the atomic bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. I believe that this event is
worth studying because it was the first and only time that an atomic bomb had been used in war. The
significance of this event can be seen from different sides and affected not only future policies,
national security, the future of energy development, and health related issues. This event is said to
have ended World War II, and at the same time started the cold war. The bombs were said to have
ultimately killed over 700,000 Japanese people (Nash, 2014). New medical and mental illnesses
occurring due to dropping the bomb and radiation, and also starting new threats of nuclear attack
throughout the world and the continued threat of creating and use of the atomic bombs. With the use
of the atomic bomb, the world considered countries that had the power of the atomic bomb to be a
superpower and countries like Russia wouldn t let the U.S. be the only ones who had this power.
Russia would build an atomic bomb and the threat of war was now considered to be fought with
nuclear annihilation. Historical causes and events This event actually started before 1945; the making
of the atomic bomb started in 1941 after hearing that the Germans had started working on nuclear
weapons. The Manhattan project was composed of scientists that

Historical Context Of The Treaty Of Versailles
Treaty of Versailles: Historical Context Ninety eight years ago, after the fighting of World War I
subsided, the Treaty of Versailles ( the Treaty ) was signed at the Palace of Versailles in France by the
Allied powers and Germany. The compromise of the Treaty is that it ended World War I. The conflict
of the Treaty is that it fed the German s hate for the Allied Powers and, in turn, was the cause of World
War II. In their hearts was a stern resolution that the fiasco of November 11, 1918, would not be
repeated for all serious people in America, as in all nations, remembered that much hailed Versailles
Treaty was sown the very seeds of World War II (Library Of Congress. Manzanar free press,

David Lloyd George, the Prime minister of Britain, Georges Clemenceau, the French Prime Minister,
and the Italian Prime Minister, Vittoria Orlando, made up the Big Three that wrote the Treaty.
Woodrow Wilson, the United States president at the time, also took part in the writing of the Treaty
although, out of his fourteen points, only one made it into the Treaty because the European leaders had
a different agenda. Germany would also be involved, although not in the writing process, but would be
most affected by the provisions of the Treaty.
During the signing of the Treaty, the U. S. citizens and senate would oppose their president in wanting

The Consequences Of Editing Ethics In Frankenstein By Mary...
In science laboratories all around the world, scientists are hard at work creating a multitude of
products. But when these products are related to bringing a life into the world, the situation could get
rather complicated. Frankenstein, a novel by Mary Shelley, tells the story of a scientist gone mad after
creating life out of death, while the articles titled Kazuo Ishiguro s uncanny science by Daniel
Marchalik and Ann Jurecic (Source A), Pondering the consequences of gene editing by Joel
Achenbach (Source B), and CRISPR, the disruptor by Heidi Ledford (Source C), talk about the
consequences of gene editing software in the world. The novel and articles both bring into the
question ethics and morality. A creator is responsible for his own actions, his creation, and the rest of
society, as shown by both the story of Frankenstein and the articles about the use of gene editing
software by scientists around the world.
As a creator, a scientist is responsible for just about everything he does in a lab and should admit any
mistakes he has committed in his study. Frankenstein would rather suffer living torture than confess
[himself] guilty of the crime ascribed to Justine and be considered a madman (64). Instead of coming
clean about the creature during William s murder trial, he keeps quiet and does not tell anyone about
the monster he created and Justine goes to jail for a crime she did not commit. Frankenstein could be
characterized as selfish for only thinking about

Racial Tensions And Racial Conflicts
Ferguson, Missouri is a city approximately 20 miles north of St Louis, MO. Part of St. Louis County,
MO, Ferguson s police department is composed of only two percent black officers despite the city s
demographic at 65 percent black (The Washington Post, 2014). With an overwhelming statistic such as
this, civilian officer tensions are, unfortunately, unavoidable. Worse still, it would seem that these
tensions are a result of racial conflicts. For at least the past decade, incidents of racial tensions have
surfaced between the civilian and law enforcement communities (Ross as cited in Lowery, Leonnig,
Berman, 2014). Residents of the Ferguson area describe a long standing issue regarding profiling and
targeting, in particular when it comes to traffic stops, even noting the rarity of any civil
communication at all between the two parties (Crawford as cited in Lowery, Leonnig, Berman, 2014).
For years, the issue of race has gone unacknowledged and a lack of trust in regard to law enforcement
officials has prevailed (Lowery, Leonnig, Berman, 2014). It s never easy to move past the sins of our
country s history. Especially when some of that history is only hours old (The Washington Post, 2014).
We see this in the case of Michael Brown.
On August 9, 2014, 18 year old Michael Brown was shot and killed by police officer Darren Wilson.
The confrontation resulted from the officer telling Brown and a friend to walk on the sidewalk instead
of the street (Clarke Lett, 2014).

Three Plans For Reconstruction Essay
Analysis of the Three Plans for Reconstruction
The American Civil War, lasting from 1861 1865, was the most severe military conflict the country
had seen; it involved the United States of America (the Union), and eleven secessionist Southern states
(the Confederate States of America). The war was the upshot of decades worth of political, social, and
economic conflict between the agricultural South, which produced mainly cash crops such as cotton,
tobacco, and sugarcane, and the industrial North. The South depended on its four million slaves for its
social and economic livelihood, whereas the North despised slavery as immoral and illegal. Even
before General Lee s surrender in 1865, the federal government was confronted with an ... Show more

However, the Black Codes imposed by the Southern State governments, as well as the stiff resistance
to Reconstruction, infuriated the North. The Black Codes aimed to stifle former slaves freedom by
hindering their economic options through debt peonage, sharecropping, tenant farming, vagrancy
laws, and curfews; in a phrase, slavery by another name.
Congress decided to punish the South for their continuous resistance to Reconstruction by scrapping
Johnson s failing plan, and establishing Congressional Reconstruction. Congressional Reconstruction
was by far the most vindictive, and therefore most loathsome to the South. Over the course of ten
years, Congress passed the 13th Amendment (abolishing slavery), and established the Freedmen s
Bureau in March of 1865 (providing food, medical aid, and education to freed people). It passed the
Civil Rights Act of 1866 (granting citizenship to blacks, and authorizing the federal government to
protect their rights), the 14th Amendment ratified in 1868 (solidifying the Civil Rights Act by defining
citizenship and guaranteeing equal protection under the law), and the Reconstruction Acts in 1867.
The Reconstruction Acts established Radical Reconstruction, namely by dividing the South (excluding
Tennessee) into five military districts, headed by northern generals. Once fifty one percent of the
voting population had taken an oath to the constitution, all qualified voters (including blacks) could

What Is A Distributed Operating System Security
Distributed Operating System Security
Anthony Fuciarelli
3030 Operating Systems
Dr. Michael Johnson
22 November 2016
Distributed operating system security is that of which security is implemented on a system of
connected computers that share and run information. This type of security system is different than
your average security features that a person may have on just a laptop or home computer system. The
biggest challenge is keeping the information that flows in a distributed operating system safe, as well
as protect against the multiple threats that security in a distributed operating system face. Its important
to understand how a distributed operating system security works, as well as the many different types
of threats that the distributed operating system security will face. Before the actually security in a
distributed operating system is discussed its important to understand what a distributed operating
system is and how its different from what most users are used too. A distributed operating system can
be described as an operating system or OS that runs on multiple central processing units or CPUs but
to a user it seems like as if its all one machine. An example would be multiple computers linked
together on one network that includes other devices such as printers or scanners. Every user that
accesses these computers on this network has access to the resources and files that are on the network,
as well as the devices that are connected.

International Journal Of Strategic Communication
When looking at big brands and companies, such as fast food industries, one can think of a couple of
favorite go to places. Places like these have strong marketing strategies to get customers to keep
coming back for more and become favorable to the public. It is in the hands of public relations to
handle a company s brand image to get people hooked to a business s products and to keep a positive
relationship with its consumers. On the other hand, it is also the duty of public relations to handle the
company s image when it is ruined or in a crisis. One example of a company that has a great brand
image, but also dealt with a crisis is Chipotle and it s E. coli crisis. If it wasn t for Chipotle s powerful
public image and integrity towards its customers when in crisis, the business would ve shut down
completely. In this scenario, the power of public relations was Chipotle s hero.
In the scholarly journal, International Journal of Strategic Communication, a particular article called,

Could London Follow New York And Lose Its Creative Class
Could London follow New York and lose its creative class?
Rohan Silva, a former senior policy advisor to UK prime minister David Cameron, has warned
Londoners that the flow of creative people from New York to Los Angeles could be sign of things to

exorbitant living costs and a lack of suitable studio space could also happen in London, and sooner

Rohan Silver has warned that the flow of creative people from New York to Los Angeles could be sign

Silva worked for the Conservative government for nine years before establishing London s Tech City
cluster of digital businesses, introducing tax breaks for angel investors and creating the concept of

which opened its first building in London last year, which Silva described as a New type of workspace

The fruits used to compare the compounds were different in color, one contained purple fruit, and the
other contained orange fruit. Both fruits had similar antioxidant activity, but the purple variety had
more active components. The active components in this fruit give prickly pear cactus the antioxidant
qualities that can benefit the body in ways that other fruits can. Another study that was performed
examined different prickly pear juices to examine potential antioxidant effects. The juices picked were
the most frequently consumed varieties: red purple, white green, and yellow orange. Methods used
determined in vitro effects which only give a rough estimate of in vivo effects, but it was determined
that the compounds and how they interact give a better idea of how much of an antioxidant the fruit is
overall. In this study the researchers treated mice with a chemical that caused oxidative stress, and
given prickly pear juice in order to counteract the effects of the oxidative stress. Blood analysis was
used in order to examine the amount of protection the prickly pear juice had given to the mice. The
results determined that the red purple colored juice was a better antioxidant than the white green and
yellow orange varieties indicating that the antioxidant properties may be due to the polyphenols the
juices contain since the red purple variety is

Analysis Of The Movie The Beer Wars Essay
THE BEER WARS DOCUMENTARY
On April 17th, 2009, the much awaited documentary, Beer Wars Documentary, was shown in many
cinemas across the United States. It s a documentary that discusses the grassroots efforts of the craft
beer industry having been filmed similar to a Michael Moore style documentary. It is a self styled
documentary by filmmaker Anat Baron portraying the beer industry in America from the vantage of
small artisanal brewers and specialty beer producers. During the 30 days preceding the release, there
was a flurry of social media activity that created a buzz about the documentary creating its publicity.
In the buzz, the brand promise of Beer Wars Documentary asserted that it would take its viewers
inside the boardrooms and backrooms of America s beer industry
The idea for the movie started in September 2005. The premise of the film is a David vs. Goliath
battle between the small artisan breweries vs. the big guys (aka. Miller, Coors, Anheuser Busch). It
showed a fascinating progression from the start of the movie to the end. For example, towards the
beginning, there were the BIG 3 (no, not the Boston Celtics big 3) AB, Miller and Coors. During the
time while the movie was made, Miller merged with Coors and AB was bought by the International
beer powerhouse INBEV.
As the film began, we were taken back by the writer and director of the film Arat Baron (who
formerly helped grow the Mike s Lemonade brand). The beginning and end of the film were live
simulcasts and

Strange Death of Silas Deane
The Strange Death of Silas Deane by James West Davison and Mark Hamilton Lytle creates a new
perspective on what people see history as. Although many people would define history as something
that happened in the past, through The Strange Death of Silas Deane , the authors demonstrate that this
everyday view on history can be profoundly misleading.
In the section, An Untimely Death , the author explains the key events of Deane s life and his death.
Silas Deane began his life as the son of a humble blacksmith in Groton, Connecticut (16). He went
from rags to riches as he graduated from Yale College and opened up a practice. Deane married,
divorced, and married again. He wasn t happy being a businessman so he entered politics. He ... Show

His story reveals a lot about himself as well as Deane. The reason why Deane contacted Bancroft
when he was going to England was so Congress s Committee of Secret Correspondence had a good
source of information about British war plans (23). As mentioned earlier, Arthur Lee did accuse Deane
of using his position to make a profit for himself, but that was just an accusation up until now.
Apparently Deane was

Although each classification of natural disaster is capable of creating catastrophic destruction, I feel
that the destruction resulting from the accumulated factors that are responsible for Tsunamis have a
potential destructive force far greater than other singular forces of nature on their own; Furthermore,
due to the densely populated urbanized regions in high risk zones the potential impact on humans
form Tsunamis is elevated in comparison with other phenomena s which may occur with little impact

Despite the destructive force of the original earthquake, a massive tidal surge will follow sometimes
only minutes after the initial shockwave with an even greater destructive force.
Atlantic Costal cities such as New York may not suffer from Tsunamis caused by mega thrusts along
submissive faults, Atlantic cities are still at risk of Tsunamis in some form. In 1929 a Tsunami hit the
coast of Newfoundland Canada which was caused by a massive underwater landslide on the
continental shelf that caused a massive water surge. A Tsunami of this nature could still affect regions
such as New York City and other large cities along the Atlantic.
The biggest risk of Tsunamis is along the Pacific cost lines, Oceania and the Indian Ocean regions.
Seismic activity in the South Pacific, Oceania and Indian regions in particular can strike with
devastating force is some of the worlds most densely populated regions. The destructive force,

Analysis Of Raymond Williams Textual Flow
NBC: Textual Flow
Upon analysis of a small fragment of the NBC schedule, 7:30 8:30PM on a Wednesday, the evolution
of Raymond Williams classic concept of flow in the 1970s is evident. His traditional concept is no
longer sufficient to explain modern network broadcasting, largely due to the complex circumstances of
advertiser supported broadcast networks in the post network era of fragmented audiences. This
evolution maintains the basic structure of Williams concept of flow with the addition of a clear
demographic fragmentation in the schedule that suggests his concept is insufficient. It appears that
NBC employs a flow that is a synthesis of Williams and Ethan Thompson s, a flow which emphasizes
demographics more than traditional flow, while ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The assumed audience during Jeopardy is primarily people middle class persons fifty years old or
older and this assumption is what unites the minute texts of this portion of the schedule. The various
advertisements for medication and products for age related illnesses (V, XII, XVI, XVII, XXIV,
XXX), such as Goldbond lotion for Diabetes, indicate an audience over fifty, which is in alignment
with its positioning with their positioning within in the broader schedule in accordance with Browne s
reasoning that the position of programs in the television schedule reflects and is determined by the
work structured order of the real social world (588). As such, it is likely that NBC assumes that an
older audience will tune in at such an early point in prime time due to their more relaxed work such or
lack of a job entirely if they are retired. Furthermore, the connection and subsequent flow created by
these advertisements with Jeopardy, is encouraged by the show s sponsor Centrum Silver which is
integrated into the text of the show in its use of the same narrator as the Jeopardy, as well as
borrowing Jeopardy s form, framing the sponsorship advertisement as a question to which the answer
is What is Centrum Silver? . This also helps to align Jeopardy with an older audience because
Centrum likely sought out the program to sponsor, specifically, in order to reach its target consumer
bases, and hopefully close the circuit of exchange, for which television functions, when the viewer...
purchases the actual object in whose price the invisible cost of motivating the ad is hidden (Browne,

Remote Access Policy
1. Overview
In today s advanced world of technologies remote work arrangement is a normal thing. It is an
important step of creating flexible work force. But there are certain risks associated with remote
access such as unauthorized access, leakage of confidential information. So to minimize these
potential risks a secure policy is required. Remote access policy tries to minimize the risks associated
with remote networks by defining the system requirement for remote users before they are allowed to

They found that Msx1 antisense RNA is expressed in differentiated dental and bone cells, which is in

between the Msx Dlx pathways. Msx1 down regulated Cbfa1, which is an activator of osteocalcin

And what we ve found is that kids in cities are now much less likely to participate in sports than kids

Joshua Kjerluf Dubrow and Jimi Adams conducted a study on NBA players in which they coded the
player s childhood income status from old news clippings. They found that an African American child
from low income family had a 37% lower chance of making an NBA roster than an African American
child from a middle or upper income family. A white child from a low income family is 75 percent
less likely to become an NBA player than middle class or upper income whites (2010). Dubrow and
Adams state that the intersection of race, class, and family structure background presents unequal
pathways into the league (2010). NBA players tend to come from hometowns with median populations
of around 110,000 people and are 59% white. Around 34% of black athletes in the NBA come from a
household earning no more than 150% of the poverty line. Interestingly enough, 0% of white NBA
players come from single parent homes (Dubrow and Adams 2010).

The Irony Of Differing Perspectives
The Irony of Differing Perspectives
Till 1827, the idea of sobriety was practically non existent in North America . Taverns were open at all
times of day and were a place of encounter for everyone regardless of class, race and gender.
Moreover, they facilitated political negotiations, economic exchanges and interracial sociability . So,
where did the idea of reducing alcohol consumption come from amid the booming socio economic
stability that taverns seemed to provide?
Except for Peter DeLottinville who recounts the honest events that occurred in Joe Beef s Canteen, the
other authors claim that the temperance movement was used for ulterior motives than it appeared to be

During the period of time that the temperance movement was gaining momentum, the Catholic church
hopped on board to speed up the process and gain as many converts as they could using their up until
then secret weapon: Chiniquy. However, the hidden intention/objective was to regain the Catholic
church s popularity and confidence after Catholics were becoming outnumbered by the influx of Irish
famine immigrants and wanted to become more industrious and progressive (cite).
Unlike all of the previously mentioned authors, DeLottinville does not imply that Joe Beef tried his
best to alleviate problems of housing, job hunting, healthcare and labor unrest with any kind of hidden
agenda. Beef genuinely cared for the welfare of the working class of Montreal and took it upon
himself to represent/assume the voice of the casual laborers . In this case, the Middle Class was the
one benefiting from the temperance movement as they were afraid Beef would succeed and have
laborers demands adhered to. In the same way that Beef s canteen was a place where every grade in
the social scale was represented (CHANGE), many other taverns were also used for both political and
economic interracial exchanges and relationships.
In other words, whereas taverns were used as tools to strengthen a sense of belonging and security,
and often attempted to prove the worthiness of the lower classes, temperance was

During that time as previous, pre European civilizations in the Americas, the Aztec and Inca empires
were separate and distinct civilizations. Both civilizations were without question very advanced and
had their own complex but very well organized society. Polytheism (who beliefs in multiple gods)
dominated both empires. They worshiped idols extensively and interestingly, the Sun God held the

The Incas adopted a language called Quechuan which is still frequent in the Andes region today. The
Aztec language was called Nahuatl. These were separate and distinct language, Quechuan belonging
to the Andean Equatorial Indian Language group while Nahuatl belonged to the Aztec Tanoan group.
The Incas did not develop a written or symbolic glyph system of the Quechuan language to record
events but rather used the quipu, a mnemonic device of knotted cords. The Aztecs did develop a
written version of Nahuatl in the form of glyph to record time and events. With regards to counting
and measurement the Incas used a base ten system. The Aztec system of counting was based on units
of twenty.
In contrast, the Aztec empire was an alliance of three powerful city states with each having various
periods of greater influence. The Aztec used an uncertain succession system in which the ruler was
selected from a pool of eligible royals. The Aztec empire was composed of over four hundred
communities conquered by the Aztecs who were linked to the empire by the promise of paying tribute
to the Aztecs. Furthermore, these communities often retained their own leaders if the tribute was paid.

HISTORICAL BACKGROUND:
Bangladesh saw a spell of military uprising and counter uprising after the murder of Sheikh Mujibur
Rahman and his family on August 15, 1975. On November 3, 1975, the major and colonels who killed
Mujib and most of his relatives (his daughters, Sheikh Hasina and Sheikh Rehana survived while they
were in the foreigner in time) also murdered four arrested political colleagues Mujib Syed Nazrul
Islam, Tajuddin Ahmad, M. Mansur Ali and AH M. Qamaruzzaman in Dhaka Central Prison. On the
same day, the coup plotters of August 1975 were overthrown by Brigadier Khaled Mosharraf, a hero
of the Bangladesh liberation war in 1971. Mosharraf also placed General Zia, then chief of the army
general staff, under house arrest and took over as new chief of staff of the army with his new rank of
Major general. Only four days later, on November 7, soldiers from different units of the Bangladeshi
army, galvanized by Colonel Taher, turned against Mosharraf and freed Zia from house arrest. General
Mosharraf and his official colleagues were killed by Zia s loyalists in the army on the morning of
November 7, 1975. General Zia took power as the first military ruler of Bangladesh, albeit with Judge
Abu Sadat Mohammad Sayem as President of the Republic. Despite Taher and his supporters in the
army released Zia, friction has developed in a few days between the two men on

Hindu Cultural Beliefs
Abstract
This paper focuses on three different religions and their cultural values and traditions surrounding
death as well as the nursing implications regarding patients of various religious and cultural beliefs.
The Hindu religion focuses on reincarnation and assisting the dead to their next life. Their traditions,
such as placing a basil leaf, clarified butter and gold in the deceased s mouth, help their loved one s
spirit move on. The Islamic religion understands that the death is God s will and take part in various
traditions such as bathing the dead loved one. Buddhist religion focuses on maintaining a relationship

things the living cannot control. It is vital for a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After death has occurred, a basil leaf, clarified butter, and a piece of gold are placed in the mouth of
the deceased so that the desire for wealth and food is satisfied (Gupta, 2011, p.254). As far as
disposing of the body, some people choose cremation; some choose a burial and some even leave the
body in the Ganges River. The funerals are very simple and elegant, which represents respect for the
deceased (Gupta, 2011). The behavior associated with bereavement is very different to western
culture. In India, Hindu family members are expected to cry and wail loudly as it is considered healthy
to have an outburst of strong emotions. Lack of loud wailing by the widow and other family members
of the deceased is considered pathological (Gupta, 2011, p. 255). It is the duty of the relatives and
friends to console the grieving family members. (Gupta, 2011, p. 255) Demonstration of respect for
the dead is done several different ways. Typically, a large photograph of the deceased person is
displayed prominently in the house, with a garland draped over the photo and a burning incense and
an oil lamp are place in front (Gupta, 2011, p.

  • 2. Logan And Cultural Imperialism The film, Logan is laced with a couple of the course concepts which are powerlessness, othering, cultural imperialism, marginalization, and lastly violence. Regardless, the two concepts discussed in class which impacted the most while analyzing the film are violence and cultural imperialism. Certainly, violence stood out like an oasis in a barren desert when Wolverine s hand is covered in blood and shaking at the beginning. Cultural imperialism is a key concept when Dr. Xander and Pierce are together getting out of the helicopter. Which means they are human and are working together to destroy all mutants. In the film, Logan, the major characters are Wolverine (X 24) played by Hugh Jackman, Charles portrayed by Patrick Stewart, Daphne ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Correspondingly, systematic violence is a concept which intensely develops through the film. The mutants captured are mentally and physically abused to create children with their powers and they will be used as killing machines. As a matter of fact, before the mutant genocide, they helped humans when they were in a life and death situation and now the people are paying them by killing the whole mutant population. According to The Five Faces of Oppression written by Young states that Some groups live with the knowledge that they most fear random, unprovoked attacks / which have no motive but to damage, humiliate and destroy the person (Young 61). The whole X Men team, which consisted of mutants is gone since the Reavers are killing the mutants and creating genetically engineered children with the same abilities as the mutants in order to use them as their secret weapon. In order, for the mutants to survive the genocide they need to stay together. Previously, without a doubt, Wolverine had to protect Charles even though his healing factor is slowing down because of all the drugs he is digesting. After, they find Laura, who is only 11 years old and is able to kill like Logan and with faster reflexes than him. As a matter of fact, it is expected that she will be the new protector of Wolverine because in the film, Logan is shown sleeping on her lap and she was just looking ... • 3. Theme Of Mental Asylum In One Flew Over The Cuckoo s Nest How Realistic the Mental Hospital Was In One Flew Over the Cuckoo s Nest Ken Kesey s novel One Flew Over the Cuckoo s Nest depicts a story of a sane man, Randle McMurphy, who decides to escape imprisonment by entering a psychiatric ward instead. The entire story is viewed in the eyes of a schizophrenic patient, Chief Bromden. This novel is set around the 1950 s in a mental asylum in Oregon. Besides the plot of the story, Kesey also manages to illustrate a realistic 1950 s mental hospital. The facilities, therapy and the release of patients in mental asylum in One Flew Over the Cuckoo s Nest by Ken Kesey realistically depicts the conditions of mental hospitals during the 1950 s. The facilities provided to the patients in One Flew Over the Cuckoo s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the novel, they separated the patients in the ward into two groups, the Acutes and the Chronics. The Acutes were those that can get cured and eventually leave, while the Chronics are in for good (Kesey 19). The two groups received different treatment and care from the nurses throughout the novel. In the 1950 s, short term patients often received better care than long term patients that were not expected to recover (The Short Story). In both the book and in real life, the mental hospitals both separated patients that had potential to get better and leave the institution and from those that did not; the Acutes were the short term patients and the Chronics were the long term patients. Moreover, those that could leave eventually were either voluntary or involuntary patients. McMurphy said to Harding Why didn t you tell me she could keep me committed in here till she s good and ready to turn me loose (Kesey 166). McMurphy is an example of an involuntary patient. During the 20th century, a person involuntarily admitted could be discharged from the approval of the superintendent and the consent of a psychiatrist (Nesnera and Baldwin 27). In the novel, McMurphy only became aware of his situation in the ward after he spoke to the lifeguard. On the other hand, Harding explained to McMurphy, I m voluntary. I m not committed (Kesey 167). • 4. Woodland Middle School Observation Starting my opening school experience I was nervous. I could not eat or sleep the day before. I woke up bright and early to arrive at Woodland Middle School by 7:30am only to find out the school did not open up till 8:30am. I was not upset that I got there so early, and in fact, it was a great because I got a chance to get familiar with the school and its principal, Dr. J. Stamper. Woodland Middle school is located behind Camp Creek and is on Stone Rd. Their colors are blue and gold. The mascots of the school are the Wolverines. Woodland s mission statement: Woodland Middle School is on the P.R.O.W.L. I am a Problem Solver Recognizing Opportunities, and I am Willing to become a Life Long Learner. (Woodland, 2015) During the first day meeting Dr. Stamper introduced me to all the teachers at the school. During this brief meeting I learned that Woodland is a focus school. A focus school is the school s bottom 25% is to low from the state average; the gap between the state average and the bottom 25 % is not progressing fast enough in the achievement zone. The achievement zone was designed from a group of schools in the district that did not meet target goals set for Fulton county school based on Georgia Department of Education. Theses ... During this time he has consistently proven himself to be a reliable and dedicated friend and confidant. He is a family oriented man who has always been a strong support system for his family and friends, often putting their needs above his own. He took on the responsibility of providing for his siblings and mother at an early age and is still solely responsible for the care of his elderly mother. Mr. Williams is a person of integrity, honesty and good moral character. With the circumstances as they are this might seem hard to believe, nonetheless this is the person I know him to be. • 6. Prayer Should Not Be Allowed In Public Schools Not During School Hours What s the harm in an occasional spoken prayer at school every now and then? Are times such as an assembly, sporting event, or graduation acceptable? The debate of prayer in public schools has been an ongoing issue for over fifty years now. It seems like a simple yes or no answer. As a Christian who attended a private school, my initial answer was a definite yes. I have always believed that God should be present in every school all over the world mainly because my school s activities were centered around prayer. However, after much research, I have found a different point of view. Prayer should not be allowed in public schools due to the fact that these schools consist of numerous religions, it is unconstitutional, and it creates different burdens for each person in the school. Prayer should not be allowed in public schools because more than just Christians attend these schools. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In an article titled, The Dangers of Religious Instruction in Public Schools, a Wisconsin State Supreme Court justice noted, There is no such source and cause of strife, quarrel, fights, malignant opposition, persecution, and war, and all evil in the state, as religion. Let it once enter our civil affairs, our government would soon be destroyed. Let it once enter our common schools, they would be destroyed. (Gaylor). In all actuality, the Supreme Court does not have a set rule that the students can t pray while they are at school, but it is set that the school itself can t hold religious assemblies (Strauss). Both Gaylor and Strauss agree that this separation is important. Public schools are funded and controlled by the government. If religion were placed back in the schools it, too, would be controlled by the government. It would soon not hold the same value that it does while it is separate from the school ... • 7. What Is The Literary Analysis OfThe Republic Of Plato The Republic of Plato is a fiction about a conversation. This conversation bridges a huge amount of topics, most regarding concepts of justice or goodness. The points of the book seemingly is to sort out what makes a good man and what makes a good city. God men and good cities, Socrates and friends conclude, must fit a myriad of criteria. During the course of this fiction the idea of fiction itself comes up, specifically idea s about using imitation as an art and how it makes a man and city just or unjust. Plato speaking as Socrates delivers a few idea s about this which all develop as he builds his city and the characters figure that imitation in poetry is wholly unjust. In the end, Socrates sets up idea s about the regulation of art that contradicts what Plato is doing, but he does this to beckon the reader to specific meaning in the book itself. The Republic of Plato is told through the lens of Socrates, this is established on the first page of narrative through notation. Socrates: I went down to the Piraeus (327a) the book reads. Although short, this is important regarding the fact that this notation changes the novel into a dialogue, it implies that Socrates is the one narrating. Plato is in effect imitating Socrates. This becomes increasingly interesting as the discourse about the just city and justice itself progresses. Socrates and friends agree that poets won t he use a narration like the one we described a little while ago concerning Homer s verses, and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Strict Constructionist Dbq When it comes to the understanding of the Constitution, Jeffersonian Republicans are generally characterized as strict constructionists who were opposed to the broad constructionism of the Federalists. This characterization however, fails to take into account the complexities of the domestic and foreign policies supported during the presidencies of Jefferson and Madison, as well as ideas held by the Federalists support the idea that they supported some principles of a strict constitutional interpretation when it suited their cause. Between 1801 and 1817 it is clear to see that both parties to some extent crossed their political lines when it was the best way to achieve their political agendas. On August 13th 1800, before his election Thomas Jefferson wrote to Gideon Granger, a future member of Jefferson s cabinet, about taking down the Federalists, protecting the state s rights, and that the Constitution is the wisest piece of political literature to address the needs of such a varying and diverse nation(Doc. A). Thomas Jefferson was the Third president of the United States, the primary author of the Declaration of independence, and believed that America should grow as an agrarian nation with a limited central government and strong state governments. This document shows that Jeffersonian Republicans were strict interpreters of the Constitution by telling us directly that changing the federal constitution to hurt state governments defines this new nation as a monarchy, and ... It was an unknown number so she ignored it at first. The same number then called back immediately. This time she answered. Hello? Becky said groggily. Hello, is this Becky Newman? An emotionless voice said. Yes this is she, may I ask who is calling. Becky asked confused as to why someone would be calling at 1:45 am. • 12. Dropping The Atomic Bomb On Hiroshima And Nagasaki The Atomic Bomb Paula Rabens December 11, 2014 DeVry University Online The event that I chose to discuss is the dropping of the atomic bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. I believe that this event is worth studying because it was the first and only time that an atomic bomb had been used in war. The significance of this event can be seen from different sides and affected not only future policies, national security, the future of energy development, and health related issues. This event is said to have ended World War II, and at the same time started the cold war. The bombs were said to have ultimately killed over 700,000 Japanese people (Nash, 2014). New medical and mental illnesses occurring due to dropping the bomb and radiation, and also starting new threats of nuclear attack throughout the world and the continued threat of creating and use of the atomic bombs. With the use of the atomic bomb, the world considered countries that had the power of the atomic bomb to be a superpower and countries like Russia wouldn t let the U.S. be the only ones who had this power. Russia would build an atomic bomb and the threat of war was now considered to be fought with nuclear annihilation. • 13. Historical Context Of The Treaty Of Versailles Treaty of Versailles: Historical Context Ninety eight years ago, after the fighting of World War I subsided, the Treaty of Versailles ( the Treaty ) was signed at the Palace of Versailles in France by the Allied powers and Germany. The compromise of the Treaty is that it ended World War I. The conflict of the Treaty is that it fed the German s hate for the Allied Powers and, in turn, was the cause of World War II. In their hearts was a stern resolution that the fiasco of November 11, 1918, would not be repeated for all serious people in America, as in all nations, remembered that much hailed Versailles Treaty was sown the very seeds of World War II (Library Of Congress. Woodrow Wilson, the United States president at the time, also took part in the writing of the Treaty although, out of his fourteen points, only one made it into the Treaty because the European leaders had a different agenda. • 14. The Consequences Of Editing Ethics In Frankenstein By Mary... In science laboratories all around the world, scientists are hard at work creating a multitude of products. But when these products are related to bringing a life into the world, the situation could get rather complicated. Frankenstein, a novel by Mary Shelley, tells the story of a scientist gone mad after creating life out of death, while the articles titled Kazuo Ishiguro s uncanny science by Daniel Marchalik and Ann Jurecic (Source A), Pondering the consequences of gene editing by Joel Achenbach (Source B), and CRISPR, the disruptor by Heidi Ledford (Source C), talk about the consequences of gene editing software in the world. The novel and articles both bring into the question ethics and morality. A creator is responsible for his own actions, his creation, and the rest of society, as shown by both the story of Frankenstein and the articles about the use of gene editing software by scientists around the world. As a creator, a scientist is responsible for just about everything he does in a lab and should admit any mistakes he has committed in his study. Frankenstein would rather suffer living torture than confess [himself] guilty of the crime ascribed to Justine and be considered a madman (64). Instead of coming clean about the creature during William s murder trial, he keeps quiet and does not tell anyone about the monster he created and Justine goes to jail for a crime she did not commit. • 15. Racial Tensions And Racial Conflicts Ferguson, Missouri is a city approximately 20 miles north of St Louis, MO. Part of St. Louis County, MO, Ferguson s police department is composed of only two percent black officers despite the city s demographic at 65 percent black (The Washington Post, 2014). With an overwhelming statistic such as this, civilian officer tensions are, unfortunately, unavoidable. Worse still, it would seem that these tensions are a result of racial conflicts. For at least the past decade, incidents of racial tensions have surfaced between the civilian and law enforcement communities (Ross as cited in Lowery, Leonnig, Berman, 2014). Residents of the Ferguson area describe a long standing issue regarding profiling and targeting, in particular when it comes to traffic stops, even noting the rarity of any civil communication at all between the two parties (Crawford as cited in Lowery, Leonnig, Berman, 2014). For years, the issue of race has gone unacknowledged and a lack of trust in regard to law enforcement officials has prevailed (Lowery, Leonnig, Berman, 2014). It s never easy to move past the sins of our country s history. Especially when some of that history is only hours old (The Washington Post, 2014). We see this in the case of Michael Brown. On August 9, 2014, 18 year old Michael Brown was shot and killed by police officer Darren Wilson. The confrontation resulted from the officer telling Brown and a friend to walk on the sidewalk instead of the street (Clarke Lett, 2014). ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Three Plans For Reconstruction Essay Analysis of the Three Plans for Reconstruction The American Civil War, lasting from 1861 1865, was the most severe military conflict the country had seen; it involved the United States of America (the Union), and eleven secessionist Southern states (the Confederate States of America). The war was the upshot of decades worth of political, social, and economic conflict between the agricultural South, which produced mainly cash crops such as cotton, tobacco, and sugarcane, and the industrial North. The South depended on its four million slaves for its social and economic livelihood, whereas the North despised slavery as immoral and illegal. Even before General Lee s surrender in 1865, the federal government was confronted with an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, the Black Codes imposed by the Southern State governments, as well as the stiff resistance to Reconstruction, infuriated the North. The Black Codes aimed to stifle former slaves freedom by hindering their economic options through debt peonage, sharecropping, tenant farming, vagrancy laws, and curfews; in a phrase, slavery by another name. Congress decided to punish the South for their continuous resistance to Reconstruction by scrapping Johnson s failing plan, and establishing Congressional Reconstruction. Congressional Reconstruction was by far the most vindictive, and therefore most loathsome to the South. Over the course of ten years, Congress passed the 13th Amendment (abolishing slavery), and established the Freedmen s Bureau in March of 1865 (providing food, medical aid, and education to freed people). It passed the Civil Rights Act of 1866 (granting citizenship to blacks, and authorizing the federal government to protect their rights), the 14th Amendment ratified in 1868 (solidifying the Civil Rights Act by defining citizenship and guaranteeing equal protection under the law), and the Reconstruction Acts in 1867. What Is A Distributed Operating System Security Distributed Operating System Security Anthony Fuciarelli 3030 Operating Systems Dr. Michael Johnson 22 November 2016 Distributed operating system security is that of which security is implemented on a system of connected computers that share and run information. This type of security system is different than your average security features that a person may have on just a laptop or home computer system. The biggest challenge is keeping the information that flows in a distributed operating system safe, as well as protect against the multiple threats that security in a distributed operating system face. Its important to understand how a distributed operating system security works, as well as the many different types of threats that the distributed operating system security will face. Before the actually security in a distributed operating system is discussed its important to understand what a distributed operating system is and how its different from what most users are used too. A distributed operating system can be described as an operating system or OS that runs on multiple central processing units or CPUs but to a user it seems like as if its all one machine. An example would be multiple computers linked together on one network that includes other devices such as printers or scanners. Every user that accesses these computers on this network has access to the resources and files that are on the network, as well as the devices that are connected. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
