2. Northern Ireland Research Paper
The troubles of Northern Ireland
The Troubles of Northern Ireland has a long history. King Henry VIII brought Ireland
under British rule during the ninth century. Some hundred years later, King James I sent
settlers to the northern part of Ireland, Ulster. Those settlers were protestants, while most
of the Irish were catholics. During the years, the tension between these two religious
groups led to the division of Ireland. This happened in the start of the 1920s. Most of
Ireland was now free from British rule, while Ulster stayed. This was because most of
the people who lived there had British ancestors.
The settlers who had moved to Ireland made out about two thirds of the population of
Ulster. Throughout time, this have been about the same. Most of the protestants of Ulster
were members of the Unionist party. The goal of this party was to keep Northern Irelanda
part of the UK. The protestants had British descent, and were often landowners.
On the other hand, you had the catholics. They were the rest of the population, about a
third. Many catholics were members of the Social Democratic and Labour party. ... Show

There are both political and religious reasons for the Troubles, which really started in the
1960s. The catholics arranged marches and protests to free Ulster from British rule. This
was met with violence from militant protestants. This again led to the catholics
answering with more violence. The protestants started boycotting the catholic members
of the community. Catholics no longer got jobs, they couldn t buy or rent houses and
many other things. All in all, they were no longer deemed as worthy members of the
community. The catholics answered this with violence, and started the IRA(Irish
Republican Army). There were held long term campaigns against the British government,
and the protestant paramilitary groups. The tension was now so high it was called a

Environmental Crisis Exposed in The World Is Too Much With Us and God s Grandeur
In his poem, The World Is Too Much With Us, William Wordsworth blames modern
man of being too self indulgent. Likewise, Gerard Manley Hopkins shows how the way
we treat nature shows our loss of spirituality in his poem, God s Grandeur. We are
ruthless by lacking proper appreciation for, being separated from, and abusing nature.
Man lacks proper gratitude for nature. People often are blind to nature s great beauty. It
moves us not, says Wordsworth. Many people never see a sunriseor a sunset because we
are too concerned with the hustle and bustle of our tiny worlds to appreciate the opulence
around us. We don t recognize... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We also take animals for granted. We believe that they were created ultimately for our
use. Wordsworth goes as far as to wish he was A Pagan suckled in a creed outworn.
Pagans often use animals as their gods. Woodworth thinks that if we were all pagans, we
would truly respect the Earth and everything upon it. Our alienation from nature makes
us merciless to Mother Nature.
Man s alienation from nature is the reason man abuses nature. Economic gain is what
most people think of when cutting down a tree, or doing something else to harm the
landscape. In his poem, Wordsworth shows that We have given our hearts away. This
means that we have taken something so close to us, and mistreated it. We have sold
what God gave us for material things. We also have overused the Earth for industrial
advantage. The Earth is taken advantage of, and is seared with trade; bleared, smeared
with toil, as Hopkins explains in the poem, God s Grandeur. Our children may not have
natural resources because we greedily use them up. We want to use Alaska, America s
last frontier, to gain more natural resources. We feel nothing when we pollute nature for
our benefit. The Earth wears man s smudge and shares man s smell. Today we are
threatened with skin cancer because of a hole in the ozone layer due to factories and our
love of machines with gasoline motors. Wildlife is being
6. Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder Essay
Like most other developed countries, the majority of our U.S. culture is now
accustomed and drawn to the idea of quick fixes. In this busy society, one is typically
most intrigued by the option that is the easiest to implement and can provide the fastest
results, such as a pain pill for a headache. However, in the world of mental health and
its disorders, a quick fix is usually not the best approach. Attention deficit hyperactivity
disorder (ADHD) is among these mental health disorders that should not be resorting
only to a quick fix , such as a stimulant medication, to effectively manage the disorder.
This is especially true for ADHD among the pediatric population, as this is a time of
rapid behavior and personality growth, as well... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to the Children and Adults with Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder
(CHADD) resource center (2017), combination treatment provides the best results in
improving ADHD and oppositional symptoms and in other areas of functioning, such
as parenting and academic outcomes. Therefore, more and more providers are coming
to believe that stimulant medications should not be the only treatment patients should
be receiving for ADHD and should be combined with behavioral therapy (CHADD,
2017). It is the provider s responsibility to ensure patients and their families are
receiving the proper education regarding the recommended treatments for children
diagnosed with ADHD, so they may choose the most effective treatment plan for their
child. The purpose of this DNP project is to improve the education of patients and their
families on the most effective treatments options for children with ADHD, with a goal
to increase the use of behavioral therapy among all children with ADHD. One of
Healthy People 2020 s developmental objectives is to increase the proportion of
children aged 4 5 years diagnosed with ADHD who receive the recommended
behavioral treatment. This same objective has been made for children aged 6 17 years;
however, the goal is to increase the treatment by medication, behavioral therapy, or both.

7. Themes Of Illusion And Reality By Bret Easton Ellis s ...
The use of counter culture and ideology can provide unique perspectives on the issues
faced by everyone, even those who do not acknowledge it. Trainspotting by Irvine Welsh
portrays a drug addict who rejects any conventions of normalcy in the pursuit of an
alternate reality. American Psycho by Bret Easton Ellis does the same through the
depiction of a rich and greedy Wall Street tycoon. This essay will closely analyze the
themes of illusion and reality in Trainspotting and American Psycho. The relationship
between the fantasy world and the real world in these texts are closely linked and aid
the narrative in a criticism of social and structural issues. The texts are often criticized as
glorifying drug use and violence however through analyzing the effect of narrative, drug
use and culture on the characters reality and illusions will argue that the elements of drug
use and violence help in the deconstruction of greed and popular culture in the texts.
Trainspotting begins with Renton s Choose Life monologue in which he argues that he
can either have a conventional life or he can try to do something out of the norm.
Coincidentally drug culture is able to act as oppositional to conventions and normality
and allows him to follow through with his monologues assertion. Whether he uses drugs
to escape conventional life or escapes conventional life through drug use the reality that
his addiction has on his life is complete and utterly encompassing.

10. False Memory And False Memory
A. Introduction
This study was in the cognitive approach to psychology, which focuses on the way
people process information. It looks at how people process the information they receive
and how the treatment of this information leads to their responses. The main area of
cognitive psychology being studied is memory, which refers to processes and structures
involved with storing and retrieving information. The theory of reconstructive memory
and false memory is the focus of the experiment. False memory is a mental experience
that is mistakenly taken to be a veridical representation of an event from one s personal
past (Johnson, 2001). Factors which prompt the formations of false memory are
misattribution of the original source of information.
One experiment which explained the theory of False Memory was conducted by
Roediger McDermott in 1995. The aim of the study was to replicate James Deese s
observations of false memory and find the it s existence in a free recall task. The
participants were 36 undergraduate students at Rice University. The independent
variable was the addition of critical lures and random words and the dependent variable
was the participant s ability to recall the correct studied words. The results were
calculated by finding the mean probability of recall of studied words (65), and of
excluded words (.40). They concluded that categorically similar words, were recalled at
the same rate as those presented. The participant s actions agreed with these

the 19th century (when scientific objectivity became vogue ), the influence of many
social forces caused aesthetic taste to change from romantic idealism to realism. Many
writers felt that romantics with their focus on the spiritual, the abstract, and the ideal
were being dishonest about life as it really was. The realists felt they had an ethical
responsibility to be honest. To show life as it should be in order to show life as it is, the
body of realist literature tends to eschew the elevated subject matter of tragedy in favor

However, the fictional world is not separated from reality either. The term magical
realism was first introduced by Franz Roh, a German art critic, who considered
magical realism an art category. To him, it was a way of representing and responding
to reality and pictorially depicting the enigmas of reality. In Latin America in the 1940s,
magical realism was a way to express the realistic American mentality and create an
autonomous style of literature. Jorge Luis Borges gave the definition of magical realism
when he said, I imagine a labyrinth of labyrinths, one sinuous spreading labyrinth that
would encompass the past and the future and in some way involve the stars.
Characteristics of Magical Realism Hybridity Magical realists incorporate many
techniques that have been linked to post colonialism, with hybridity being a primary
feature. Specifically, magical realism is illustrated in the inharmonious arenas of such
opposites as urban and rural, and Western and indigenous. The plots of magical realist
works involve issues of borders, mixing, and change. Authors establish these plots to
reveal a crucial purpose of magical realism: a more deep and true reality than
conventional realist techniques would illustrate. Irony Regarding Author s Perspective
The writer must have ironic distance from the magical world view for the realism not to
be compromised. Simultaneously,

Why soccer is the best sport
By: Omar
Soccer is the most played sport worldwide, many people love it and I m one of them, it
is my favorite sport because you can improve your skills with your feet, and get a lot of
exercise. By writing this essay, I hope that I can provide more information about the
sport and maybe convert the people who dislike the sport into fans.
I have heard from some people that soccer is a boring sport, but the truth is, it s a very
interesting sport with a lot of excitement in it. When playing soccer, ball control is
critical, you need possession of the ball in order to keep it away from the other team
players, and at times, it can be fun because if you have possession of the ball most of the
game, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If you play soccer, you have to practice in order to win, just like any other sport. When
playing a game, you need to do moves that you have practiced, to get past the other
teams defense and score a goal, and you also have to teach yourself mentally to think
before you react. If you have the ball, you can t just kick it randomly and hope to
score, you have to think of your other teammates and work with them to get the ball up
the field. Another part of soccer that is very critical is passing. You have to pass the ball
and develop new techniques and ways to control how the game is played.
The last part is that you need to be fit in order to play soccer, because you are constantly
on the field, and you don t get a lot of breaks, because the game never really stops except
for halftime and when a foul is called or if you are waiting for the ball to come. When
you re on defense, and playing a good team, you can be running around a ton, and you
get tired really easily, especially when someone is on a breakaway, you will have to
sprint down the field to try to stop them. If you play soccer a lot over a long time, you
will develop good leg strength. Exercise is critical to the human body, and you will get a
whole bunch of it by playing soccer. I hope this essay encourages parents to in role their
kids to play soccer because it s an amazing

Could the Kathy Griffin incident be the high water mark of cultural Marxism?
There have been many a time period in history when momentous events have taken place
that were only seen in retrospect to be turning points. For it is hard to see the overall
picture and trends when crisis and circumstances of an immediate nature dominate one s
thoughts. However, there are other periods when moments leading up to a critical
exigency indicate that it is a turning point.
The purveyors of critical theory have been at their work desperately trying to convince
the people of benefits of Marxism for well nigh many years. How this is supposed to
work via incessant complaining about freedom and liberty is truly beyond my

At the time Virginia Woolf wrote The Years and Three Guineas, there were many
differences between men and women, one of which was education. Most women were
not educated, which prevented them from entering into agency. Women allowed
themselves to be played by history. In order for them to change a worldthat was
dominated by men, women needed to refuse what history said was their essence, and
rather, use that essence to create critical ways of being in the world. The photograph, a

Therefore, women believed that they had no choice other than to side with men. They
were dependent on their fathers or husbands income, which prevented them from
freedom. Although women did not work as judges, lawyers, or any other job in the
public world, they worked at home. Women were wives, mothers, and daughters, and
without them, the state would collapse and fall to pieces, without whose work your sons,
Sir, would cease to exist, (Three Guineas 54).
Although this was unjust, men were not entirely at fault. Married men got paid twice
that of a bachelor. Half of men s salary belonged to their wives, but women had little
access to their husband s salary. We may assume that the wife of an educated man has
as much money to spend, (Three Guineas 55). Then why, didn t women spend that
money on pleasures that she enjoyed? Because men made the money, women allowed
them to decide how it should be spent. She lays out thousands and thousands of pounds
upon clubs to which her own sex in not admitted; upon racecourses where she may not
ride; upon colleges from which her own sex is excluded. She pays a huge bill annually
for wine which she does not drink and for cigars which she does not smoke, (Three

causes that were important to them, on something that would benefit their own well

17. Janoff-Bulman s Shattered Assumptions
Janoff Bulman s (1992) cognitive appraisal theory Shattered Assumptions, addresses
beliefs about the self, the future, the world and the trauma s insult to meaning systems.
The approach provides details on the individual s assumption of their worldview and how
it provides the individual with meaning, selfesteem, and the illusion of invulnerability;
suggesting the person experiences an event that violates their worldview and no longer
perceived the world as benevolent and predictable (Janoff Bulman s, 1992). The
individual begins to questions their competency, senses themselves as invulnerable thus
experiences PTSD symptoms (Janoff Bulman s, 1992).
Janoff Bulman (1992) stated that there are three core assumptions held by most people
about the world and themselves, and they are shattered by traumatic events for the
assumptions co exist with one s emotions. Labeling the three fundamental assumptions as

people; good things happen to good people, and bad things happen to bad people (Janoff
Bulman, 1992). Lastly, Janoof Bulman (1992) asserted that most people perceive
themselves as good, capable, and moral, individuals, therefore, defining The World as

and suggests that the individual believes that he or she is competent and can control both

Both poets use the structure and form to present the role of death to convey the loss of

When We Two Parted the death is emotional which creates pain and anguish.
The role of death is presented in both poems by the form and structure. In Porphyria s

The end of the relationship between Lord Byron and Lady Frances is compared to
death. The end of their relationship has affected the speaker, by the behaviour. His
sorrow suggests that he s grieving in silence and tears which suggest the actions

the actions such as grieving in silence and tears . The bell of death knell suggest that
hearing her name (Lady Frances) emphasises the hatred he has for her. The funeral
sound creates a vivid image confirming the death of his faith in her. The knell also
confirms the end of their relationship, suggesting god has accepted the end of their
relationship. The rhyme scheme A/B/A/B is a regular rhyme scheme which
highlights the speakers anguish and pain. The rhyme scheme moves the poem

What is a worldview? A world view consists of our basic beliefs; how we view life in
general and the assumptions that we make about reality. In its simplest form, a
worldview acts as a pair of glasses. For instance, when we wear sunglasses, everything
that was initially bright colored immediately loses its brightness. This means that the
glasses make us see a shade darker, changing our outlook on things. That is precisely
how a worldview operates. It influences how we view and interpret reality and because

Coming from the point where humans were created in God s image, it follows that
they have the ability to distinguish between right and wrong. From the rules of
conduct given to Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden to the Ten Commandments
given to the Israelites, we see that God throughout history has prescribed what is
considered right and what is wrong. Jesus summarized these commandments as loving
God and loving our neighbors in Matthew 22:37 40. Similarly, the fact that we were
created in God s image means that we have an inner ability to know what is wrong and
right conscience (Romans 2:15). The Question of Destiny According to the Bible, there
is life after death. When people die, the body becomes separated from the spirit and the
soul. It is the body that remains on earth while the spirit goes back to God (John 11:25).
Here, depending on your deeds on earth, the spirit may be accepted into Gods kingdom

21. Three Key Themes Of War Crimes Persico
Three Themes: 1. In the Epilogue, Persico ponders the actual validity that the
conspiracy charge had throughout the Nuremberg Trials. Conspiracy was among the
possible indictments along with War Crimes, Crimes Against Humanity and Peace
Crimes brought forth against the numerous Nazi s on trial. Regarding the Conspiracy
charge, Periscope goes so far as to say the conspiracy charge was unnecessary. Persico
s argument which I do see to hold validity, is that the conspiracy charge is simply
piling on to build a greater quantitative case against the selected high ranking Nazi s
while in no way at all helping the quality of the case. It was virtually impossible to prove
the guilt of any of the Nazi s by way of the conspiracy charge as zero defendants were
convicted of this charge by itself. For this reason, it didn t prove to have much a purpose
as the trial progressed.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another key theme that Persico discusses in the epilogue is justice. Persico claims that
the trial did serve justice to those who deserved it even if there were some issues with
the process. There is also the concept that Persico grapples with which is if one high
ranking Nazi effectively murders MANY innocent people and this Nazi is put on trial
and later hanged, is justice served. My belief is that although the scale is most
