2. Final Design
As shown to the right, here is our final design for
our Album Advert.
The background of our Advert is a small part of
the Front Cover which we cropped and edited
using ‘GIMP’.
We chose this part of the Front Cover as we felt it
was the most interesting and visually pleasing,
due to the wide range of colours, particularly the
contrast of Blue and Red (which are key colours
throughout our Music video and Album Art).
We have put several important conventions of
Adverts over the image in order to advertise our
Album, including Band Name, Title of the Album,
Release Date, Where it is available from, Record
company and a review of the Album.
3. Cropping Our Image
The image to the right shows how we used
the Crop tool in GIMP in order to make a
small section of our Front Cover which could
be used for our Advert.
We decided to use our Front Cover for this
image as we felt that it would be best to
advertise the feature that most consumers
will see. When people look at album art,
they most commonly look at the Front Cover
first, thus by making this the image used for
our advert, we can best advertise our Album.
We specifically chose this section of the
Album Front Cover as we felt it was visually
the most interesting and appealing meaning
it would be alluring as an Advert.
4. Adding Key Information
To make our advert successful, we had to use
several conventions of adverts, making sure
that the consumer knows the necessary
details about the Album.
We felt it was most important to include:
The Band name- to attract fans of the band
‘Cage the Elephant’ as well as letting the
consumer know who made the music.
The Name of the Album- To let the consumer
know what the Album is called ‘Ain’t No rest
for the Wicked’ and as such, if they were
interested in buying the album, they could
easily find it.
Where it is available to buy- This shows
where it is possible to buy the Album from,
making it clearer to the consumer where
they can buy this Album.
5. Adding Key Information
The Record Company- This is important
legal information for the consumer while
also allowing them to see the record
company who produced the album
‘Relentless Records’. By providing this,
the consumer may become further
interested and look into the record
company.
Release Date- A basic detail letting the
consumer know when the Album is
available for purchase.
A review- We did this, as by presenting a
positive review from a well known
source ‘Q Music’, we can help to
advertise our Album, by showing that it
was positively received by critics.
6. Consistency with our Album Art
In order to make our Advert consistent
with our Album Art, particularly as we
took our Advert image from our Front
Cover, we decided to use the same Font
for both the Band Name and Title of the
Album (As shown to the right).
By having the same font and section of
the front cover, we feel that it can best
advertise the Album as it will raise
awareness of the album. By keeping it
consistent, people will also recognise the
Album, raising interest.
The image to the left shows the image of the Band Name from of Advert
compared to the image on the right which shows the Band Name on our
Album Art. While we have used different spacing and Font Sizes, we have
maintained the Font Style to add consistency to our overall product.
The image on the left shows the Album Title taken from our advert, as
opposed to the right, which shows the Album Title taken from our Album Art.
We used slightly different spacing on our Advert but used the same Font size
and Font Style for our Album Art and Advert, adding further consistency.
