Double Page Spread Image: The image is a midshot, the model is Lady Gaga, a well know pop artist. The picture show’s
her in her usual eccentric self, anybody that knows of Lady Gaga knows that she doesn’t wear a lot
of clothing and she is known for her abstract looks. Gaga appears to be naked and she has some
sort of costume jewellery covering her cleavage in addition to her hands. The model has big,
backcombed, curled hair, cut into a bob. Her facial expression could be seen as sexual and
seductive, as she has her lips slightly parted, her hair is messy and the fact she is naked reinforces
that the picture could be seen as sexualised. The fact she is wearing no clothing adheres to Laura
Mulways male gaze theory, which is that the camera sexualises’ women. She appears to be
wearing a lot of heavy eye makeup, you could assume that she is a entertainer and a visual
performer as well as just musically talented. As well as this it is to draw the eyes of the reader to
her eyes, which are known as the most sexualised part of the women's face. As well as this her lips
are very bold which attracts attention as well. The picture is tinted grey, this links to the colour
scheme of the page. This also gives the picture a older feel, and with her hair and makeup the
model looks like a real diva.
Layout: The layout of the page is pretty simple, all the text is on one
side of the page and the feature image is on the next. The heading is
the artist’s name, in this case Lady Gaga. Underneath the article is a
huge letter in caps locked, in red, this is so it stands out. The letter is
usually of the artist first letter of their name. This reinforces the idea
that she is the main point. On top of the red letter is the article, set
out in three columns. This is the usual layout of Q magazine, here are
some other examples, sometimes they do include other images and
pull quotes, however there are certain rules they stick to. At the
bottom of the article there is the ‘Q’ logo, this is self promotion.
Colour Scheme: The colour’s follow a basic colour scheme,
throughout the whole of the magazine. The colour scheme is black, white
and red. Usually the models costume and makeup link to the colour scheme.
Article: The article starts in typical magazine form, with a large letter. In this case
there are two of those letters starting two different topics. This is to tell the audience
where the article begins and finishes.
Intro Paragraph: The article starts with a short introductory paragraph which tells the
audience what this interview/article is about and who exactly it is on. Usually the paragraph
will include exiting information to make the reader want to read on, include information on
the artist, and their music, achievements, and how they have come into the music business.
Pull Quotes: This article doesn’t contain any pull quotes, however usually they do contain
pull quotes as this is a code and convention of a magazine. The pull quotes would be taken
from the most interesting and exciting parts of the interview trying to pull in the audience
to read on.
Page Numbers: The page numbers adhere to the codes and conventions of magazines as all
magazine’s have page numbers at the bottom so that the audience/readers know where to look
for each article.
New Media: This is usually on magazines so that the audience know where they can find out
more information about the magazine. For example they might have their web address and
maybe a Facebook and twitter link. However on this issue they don’t have any new media, but
they are most likely to have new media on other issues as this is a code and convention of
magazines.
Double Page SpreadImage: The image is a longshot, the model is Florence Welch from Florence and the Machine, a well
know pop artist. The picture show’s her sitting down on some sort of boxed covered with what appears
to be the American flag. This could link to the text written behind her head. Florence is wearing a all
black, she looks like she is wearing either a black playsuit or black shorts and black top and black heels.
Her positioning makes her look like she is powerful which reflects on her music, the fact she is
positioned like that and sitting on the American flag makes her look even more powerful. The model has
her legs on show, this could be seen as seductive as she is a woman and she is showing
off her legs, which can be attractive to some people. Her facial expression
could be seen as sexual and seductive also, as she has her lips slightly
parted, and she is looking directly into the camera, which makes the
audience feel like she is addressing you directly. Her hair is one of the things
she is most known for, its bright colour, the red matches the colour of the
flag. Additionally the picture could relate to Laura Mulways male gaze theory,
which is that the camera sexualises’ women.
Layout: The layout of the page is pretty simple, all the text is on one side of the page and the feature
image is on the next, with the image slightly leading onto the next page where the writing is. The
heading is ‘got the love’, underneath this is the small introductory paragraph and then the article, set
out in three columns. This is the usual layout of Q magazine, here are some other examples, sometimes
they do include other images and pull quotes, however there are certain rules they stick to. On the
other page where the main image is, there is ‘USA’ written in huge letters behind her, which could be a
link towards the article.
Colour Scheme: The colour’s follow a basic colour scheme, throughout the whole of the
magazine. The colour scheme is black, white, grey and red. Usually the models costume and
makeup link to the colour scheme.Article: The article starts in typical magazine form, with a large letter. In this case

  • 2. Double Page SpreadImage: The image is a longshot, the model is Florence Welch from Florence and the Machine, a well know pop artist. The picture show’s her sitting down on some sort of boxed covered with what appears to be the American flag. This could link to the text written behind her head. Florence is wearing a all black, she looks like she is wearing either a black playsuit or black shorts and black top and black heels. Her positioning makes her look like she is powerful which reflects on her music, the fact she is positioned like that and sitting on the American flag makes her look even more powerful. The model has her legs on show, this could be seen as seductive as she is a woman and she is showing off her legs, which can be attractive to some people. Her facial expression could be seen as sexual and seductive also, as she has her lips slightly parted, and she is looking directly into the camera, which makes the audience feel like she is addressing you directly. Her hair is one of the things she is most known for, its bright colour, the red matches the colour of the flag. Additionally the picture could relate to Laura Mulways male gaze theory, which is that the camera sexualises’ women. Layout: The layout of the page is pretty simple, all the text is on one side of the page and the feature image is on the next, with the image slightly leading onto the next page where the writing is. The heading is ‘got the love’, underneath this is the small introductory paragraph and then the article, set out in three columns. This is the usual layout of Q magazine, here are some other examples, sometimes they do include other images and pull quotes, however there are certain rules they stick to. On the other page where the main image is, there is ‘USA’ written in huge letters behind her, which could be a link towards the article. Colour Scheme: The colour’s follow a basic colour scheme, throughout the whole of the magazine. The colour scheme is black, white, grey and red. Usually the models costume and makeup link to the colour scheme.Article: The article starts in typical magazine form, with a large letter. In this case there are two of those letters starting two different topics. This is to tell the audience where the article begins and finishes. Intro Paragraph: The article starts with a short introductory paragraph which tells the audience what this interview/article is about and who exactly it is on. Usually the paragraph will include exiting information to make the reader want to read on, include information on the artist, and their music, achievements, and how they have come into the music business. Pull Quotes: This article doesn’t contain any pull quotes, however usually they do contain pull quotes as this is a code and convention of a magazine. The pull quotes would be taken from the most interesting and exciting parts of the interview trying to pull in the audience to read on. Page Numbers: The page numbers adhere to the codes and conventions of magazines as all magazine’s have page numbers at the bottom so that the audience/readers know where to look for each article. New Media: This is usually on magazines so that the audience know where they can find out more information about the magazine. For example they might have their web address and maybe a Facebook and twitter link. However on this issue they don’t have any new media, but they are most likely to have new media on other issues as this is a code and convention of magazines.
