Americans Should Eat Healthy Foods Essay
Americans Should Eat Healthy Foods The overall health of the nation should concern every American
within the United States. The populous has acquired a bad habit of turning to convenience foods
because of availability, taste and comfort. Thus to re direct the health of the nation, people need to
stop crippling their health by convenience foods and replace it with healthy, natural choices, otherwise
the health of all will continue to decline. The body responds differently to food types, either healthy or
convenience, and determines the mood and daily productivity of an individual. According to Donald
D. Hensrud, in order to enjoy an increase in energy and good feelings, eat more fruits and vegetables

On an average, large amount of fast foods consumed on a daily basis, leads to the deterioration of an
individuals bodily health over time. Consuming more fruits, vegetables and healthy foods, will
increase the life expectancy of most individuals. According to Donald D. Hensrud of the Mayo Clinic
on Healthy Weight, Eating well choosing a plant based diet, which emphasizes vegetables, fruits and
whole grains also will reduce your risks of some of our nation s biggest killers and related conditions.
Many cancers, heart disease and high blood pressure, among other conditions, are linked to diet, most
notably to diets high in fat and saturated fat. Even without weight loss, adopting a healthier eating
style can be beneficial. (Hensrud 49) The majority of Americans give the argument that healthy food
takes up too much time. They state that they do not have enough time to prepare healthy meals with a
busy schedule, whereas convenience foods are easily squeezed into a day. This common
misconception often inhibits the populous from exerting any energy toward trying to accommodate a
healthier lifestyle. As Hensrud states, Cooking healthfully is not difficult to do, but it may involve
rethinking your approach. (Hensrud 49) Just a little prior preparation cuts time and effort in a tight
schedule and healthy foods generally taste much better than foods from the local convenience
restaurant. When going the healthy route, many choices

Is The Bible Reliable
In this day and age, teens have many questions regarding the Bible and its authenticity. There are
many sources where good and bad information can be absorbed and can shake their beliefs. The news,
media and Internet have things that may cause people to question their beliefs in God and trust in the
Bible.
Some questions that teens may be having trouble with the Bible are: Where did it come from? Can it
be trusted? This article will answer all those questions and set you on the correct path. I will talk about
what the Bible is, who wrote it, when were the books of the bible written, what languages are used and
the most important question, is it reliable.
WHAT IS THE BIBLE?
The word Bible comes from the words bíblia in Latin and bíblos in Greek. The Latin meaning
translates to books. Biblica.com says The Bible is the account of God s action in the world, and his
purpose with all creation. (Biblica.com, 2013) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It contains 66 books containing messages from God to us. The books were originally written on
papyrus until the invention of the codex, a manuscript formatted like a book. The Bible is the inspired
Word of God as said in 2 Peter 1:21.
There are two main sections of the Bible. They are the Old Testament and the New Testament. The
Bible is then divided into six minor sections: the law, history, poetry, prophecy, biographies and
epistles. The Christian religion is based on the Bible and its teachings and shows how to apply God s
Character into their lives.

Subliminal Advertising Summary
Chapter four is titled I Can t See Cleary Now. Chapter four is about subliminal advertising, and the
exploration of further subliminal advertising. In 1957 James Vicary who was a market researcher
surprised people about his claim that a Coca Cola ad flashing on a screen could influence their
decision to buy. In chapter three on page twenty eight Lindstrom explains about subliminal advertising
and some examples of what it may be. He explains that Generally speaking, subliminal messages are
defined as visual, auditory, or any other sensory messages that register just below our level of
conscious perception and can be detected only by the subconscious mind. Lindstrom then explains that
when people are exposed to articles or news stories about subliminal messaging or advertising they
feel as if they are not being fooled, he states that s how most people react whether it s a report of a
McDonald s logo flashing for one thirtieth of a second during the Food Channel s Iron Chef America
Program (a spokesperson for the Food Channel claimed it was a technical error), or an unfounded
rumor that a cloud of dust in Disney s The Lion King spells out s e x. Chapter five is called Do you

way of how the Corona and lime tradition may have come to be, while stating it came to be by ...this

Why Nigeria Should Be Able For Build A Prosperous Economy
Nigeria has a current GDP of 568.5 billion and a population of 178.5 million. It is the largest country
in Africa with approximately 47% of West Africa s population. It is the main oil exporter in the
continent, has around 44 solid minerals in commercial quantity, and is a leading global player in a
variety of commodities. Neoclassical Exogenous Growth theory argues that technology enables
persistent increase in growth rate. Neoclassical Endogenous Growth argues growth comes by
investing in key areas such as education, R D, skills and knowledge. Both explain why Nigeria should
be able to build a prosperous economy, reduce poverty and create wealth once investments are shifted
to key areas and technology is imported and implemented. To attract capitals, including foreign direct
investments, Nigeria will focus on developing the manufacturing sector (World Bank, 2014). The
diversity of the country s export base has been eroded by focus on hydrocarbon activities, however
limited growth in the non oil sector has helped diversify the economy during the past decade.
Agriculture remains relevant as main source of employment. In the 1990 s, uncontrolled debt levels,
debt restructuring, failure to meet payment deadlines and write offs damaged Nigeria s a reputation.
Nigeria returned to civilian rule in 1999, after independence from Great Britain in 1960 was followed
by years of military rule. (Nigerian Government, 2015). (+) Generous natural resources Nigeria has

Visual Cortex Function
The visual cortex is related to the primary visual cortex, labeled V1 and Brodmann area 17, and
extrastriate visual cortical areas V2 V5. [12] Located in the occipital lobe, V1 functions as the primary
relay station for visual input, transferring information to two main ways marks the dorsal and ventral
streams. The flow back covers V2 and V5 areas and is used for visual interpretation where and how.
The ventral stream comprises areas V2 and V4, and is used in the interpretation of what. [13]

Christianity And The Rise Of Christianity Essay
Christianity in the 21st century is the largest religion in the world and has over two billion followers.
Christians classify themselves under 34,000 different denominations. This popular religion is all about
the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. When a religion is born so is a holy book to remember
it by. The bible is considered the word of God and is known for its infamous stories and sayings. The
Bible contains rules and righteous acts to live by. Many question as to how Christianity spread and to
what extent did Jesus Christ and his apostles go through in order to gain followers. A major reason for
the spread of Christianity was because people seeked comfort in the promise of the afterlife and found
the need to preform charitable deeds euphoric. Jesus Christ founded Christianity which later on began
to spread its meaning around the Roman Empire by his apostles. Jesus Christ was also born a Jew in
about 7 B.C and almost all of his followers at that time were Jews as well. Jesus Christ also observed
the Jewish faith and was very well experienced with the Jewish law. Jesus Christ s mission was made
to spread the word of God to mankind. As converts to Christianity increased, the religion as well
began to spread. This all began somewhat 2000 years ago in what is now Israel but was at that time,
Judea. Christianity was quite linked to Judaism; they both shared similar rules and meanings to what
the religions held. The emperor of Rome was Nero, who was famously

Essay On Anti Semitism In America
Earlier students of American Jewish life minimized the presence of anti Semitism in the United States,
which they viewed as a late and alien phenomenon on the American scene arising in the late 19th
century. More recently, scholars have asserted that no period in American Jewish history was free of
anti Semitism. The debate continues about the significance of anti Semitism in different periods of
American history. Anti Semitism has always been less prevalent in the United States than in Europe.
The first governmental incident of anti Jewish sentiment was recorded during the American Civil War.
The United States was restrictive towards Jewish immigration during the 1920s by enacting with the
Johnson Reed Act blocking Jewish students from attending Harvard University.
One way the United States was restrictive towards Jewish immigration was the Johnson Reed Act. The
Immigration Act of 1924 limited the number of immigrants allowed entry into the United States
through a national origins quota. The Quota provided immigrations visas to two percent of the total
number of people of each nationally in the United States as the 1890 national census. It completely
excluded immigrants from Asia. In 1917, the U.S. Congress enacted the first widely restrictive
immigration law. The uncertainty generated over ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In particular, in 19th and 20th centuries some countries had Jewish Quotas for higher education, a
special case of Numerus clauses. Jewish educational quotas could be statewide law or adopted only in
certain institutions, often unofficially. The limitation took the form of total prohibition of Jewish
students, or of limiting the number of Jewish students so that their share in the student s population
would not be larger than their share in general population. In some establishments, the Jewish quota
placed a limit on growth rather than set a fixed level of participation to be

Participation In Sports Analysis
Chapter I
Statement of Purpose The author has had a lifetime of experience with athletics in multiple sports as
an athlete, as a coach, and now as an athletic director at a high school. As an athlete that was highly
competitive, his mindset was to always work hard and do whatever it took to win. About a year after
all of his college eligibility has been completed his good friend took a job at a high school in San
Bernardino as a water polo coach and asked him to come out to the pool to teach his boys a few
things. The author took on an assistant coaching position from that point on for the next 6 years
because he loved teaching the athletes what it was to not only be a competitor but to be a competitor
the right way, through hard work and respecting the game. He eventually took over the program and
progressed from a coach who wanted to desperately win to a coach that wanted his kids to be
successful at everything they attempted to do above all else. That mindset has spilled over into his job
as an athletic administrator at a new high school. Leadership positions, whether they are as an
educator, head coach, or an athletic director, they all come with a lot of responsibility. There is a
tremendous amount of responsibility placed on a coach or athletic administrator. Not including the

Online Dating Research Paper
Effects of Online Dating on Relationships In the old ages, dating was considered to be sacred. It was
only permissible for the adults that had the rights to have a sexual partner. The sacred nature can be
considered to be a conservative nature of the society regarding the religion, customs, and laws. As a
result, getting a partner was a nightmare considering the fact that people had to rely on gathering
places such as religious meetings, school and social interaction points such as bars and hotels to meet
up with new people. This is without mentioning that there were no convenient means of
communication apart from the slow mode of sending letters. With difficulty to getting a new partner,
relationships were considered to be even more sacred, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When more online dating sites get into the market, there will be a devastating decline of commitments
between spouses. From a personal experience, I have a married friend who subscribes to an online
dating site called Match.com. This friend spends most of his time on this site interacting with other
people while ignoring his responsibility of spending more time with his family. As a result, his
marriage now is not stable. His wife complains he is not showing any commitment towards their
relationship and marriage. Slater (2013), in his article, points out that he has interviewed online dating
company executives. From the interviews, the executives suggested that an increase in dating websites
would decrease commitment in a relationship. Gian Gonzaga, who is a research scientist from
eHarmony which is a conservative site stated that; the good thing about online dating is that people are
free to get into a new relationship, learn new things and more likely choose a better person from a
pool of people. Again he criticizes it by arguing that online dating creates a shortcut for people in
relationship to quit the moment they feel it s not working (Slater, 2013). Slater (2013) also adds that
Dan Winchester the founder of free dating site based in the UK pointed out that the older we get, the
more experience we have. For example, men have more experience than women when it comes to

The Patriarchal Male Gaze
While talking to my Indian friends about our summer project, Adolescents Health Awareness Program
, I listened to their stories about harassment and eve teasing while travelling alone. I had also come
across some of the situations where I feel uncomfortable and hate my body. When I walk down the
streets of the city, a person s stare and taunts, make me feel as if I have done a crime by being born as
a girl. The constant gazes are not so unusual now.
Gaze, as the Longman dictionary defines is a long steady look , but I would say it is much more than
that long look. It is a constant look with admiration for something. It simply turns a subject to an
object where male values the body of a female to fulfill their desires. The term male gaze was first
brought up by Laura Mulvey and has come from film theory and is basically used to describe the idea
of putting the audience into the perspective of a heterosexual man. With the development of the
media, we see films, a major form of visual popular culture ( The Patriarchal Gaze ), portraying
women as sexually objectified bodies. Laura Mulvey in her article, Visual Pleasure and Narrative
Cinema , says that male gaze is an erotic look of power and of objectification. The view of the camera,
and thus of the male protagonist, is that of the intended male gaze (Mulvey). With the male gaze,
female bodies presented in the movies are sexualized and their body is objectified. Females are shown
offering up their femininity for the

Why Factory Farms Are Cruel
Factory farms are cruel to animals and therefor people should not consume factory farmed poultry or
eggs from the poultry. Chickens in factory farms will never experience anything a natural and normal
life, they will never be able to perch, take dust baths, or even meet their mothers. ( Chickens Used for
Food. ) Even though chickens are just as intelligent as dogs they are put into stressful and harmful
conditions in these farms for their whole lives. Being put into a confined space causes a chicken and
other poultry lots of stress which can lead to violence amongst the birds. ( Farm Animals. ) Because of
this violence the birds have their beaks trimmed which can lead to chronic pain and reduced feed

Essay about Good Will Hunting
Good Will Hunting is a film which conveys many interlocking themes and messages to its viewers.
One of these nicely woven themes is placing trust in the people we care about as well as people we
have only recently become acquainted with. Another message, arguably more significant than the last
is finding and pursuing the potential one has and bringing meaning into our lives in any form we
choose. I believe the potential and success this film demonstrates is that success, growth, and meaning
in a person s life does not always have to come in the form of advancing in a career or social status but
rather in the form of overcoming hardships and developing close reciprocating relationships. The
character this film is primarily centered ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Florence Nightingale
Florence Nightingale who has been described as the founder of modern nursing was born to a English
family in Florence on May 12, 1820. Nightingale was born to a very religious, and wealthy family and
was often encouraged to attend church as a girl. When Nightingale turned 24 she decided that she had
the desire to work in hospitals, but her family strongly disapproved due to the hospital conditions at
the time. Her parents finally gave her permission to attend a prestigious nursing school in Germany. In
1853 Nightingale took charge of a charity which took care of women in distressed circumstances.
After the breakout of the Crimean War Nightingale decided to organize a team of nurses to help tend

The Workplace Is Important For Employees
Researchers have found that across cultures, having autonomy in the workplace is important to
employees. It has positive benefits for both the employee and the company. Those who have more
autonomy at work will tend to be more loyal to their employer, perform better, be more engaged, and
be more productive. It s also been shown that businesses that give their employees autonomy will have
a lower turnover rate, which also saves you money in the long run.
If you have been the type of manager who hasn t been giving your employees autonomy, have no fear.
It is never too late to make changes and become the type of leader who does. Begin by letting your
employees know that you would like them to become more involved in calling the shots and in
making some of the decisions about how to get things done. You can make the change all at once, or
you can gradually let go of things and let the transition take place more slowly. Either way, you will
notice a big difference in your team when you get to the point where they have autonomy. They will
be happier, more satisfied at work, and likely much more productive. People who are satisfied and
happy with where they work will go out of their way to go above and beyond for their employer. Be
the kind of employer who makes employees want to be loyal and go above and beyond.
It is sometimes easier to see how appreciated autonomy will be if you can imagine yourself in their
shoes. Like the old saying goes, treat others how you want to be

The Case Of Plessy V. Ferguson
Segregation is the enforced separation of different racial groups in a country, community, or
establishment. During segregation people of different races had to ride in different rail cars and
attended separate schools. In two cases, Plessy V. Ferguson and Brown V. Bored of Education, the
Fourteenth Amendment was argued. The outcome of these two court cases effected African Americans
and their fight against segregation. These two court case are similar in their fight for a cause because
they challenged the meaning of the same law, but different in their outcome. The precedent separate

The Global Positioning System ( Gps )
Blame It On...
Have you ever planned a trip and used a global positioning system (GPS), to give you directions on
how to get where you were going? The global positioning system would show you where your current
location was and then it would pinpoint the destination you are trying to get to. The global positioning
system would then give you different routes you could take, and give you an estimated time on how
long each route could possibly take. Think of fate like the different routes you are given on your
global positioning system. You have a bunch of options, but they all lead you to the same destination.
When dealing with fate, it may seem like you are in control of your life, and that you can make
decision for yourself, but in the end you cannot escape your fate. The Greeks believed in the power of
the Gods and of fate. The Merriam Webster Dictionary defines fate as the development of events
beyond a person s control, regarded as determined by a supernatural power (fate). The Greeks also
believed that fate was a pre determined phenomena, and therefore was unchangeable. A widely known
example of fate is in the Greek tragedy Oedipus Rex written by Sophocles. Oedipus Rex suggests that
people have little control over their own lives, and that ultimately people are just puppets in the hands
of the mythological Gods.
Oedipus is blind to the truth and reality of his own life. The blind prophet of Apollo, Teiresias the first

Taoism Essay
Running head: Taoism
Taoism
A Brief Overview When first deciding to write my term paper on Taoism I thought it would be just
another religion. In my research I found so many different translations that my head started spinning.
There are really no known facts about the founder of Taoism, Lao Tsu, except that he was possibly a
contemporary of Confucius. He was searching for a way that would avoid the constant feudal warfare
and other conflicts that disrupted society during his lifetime. (Religious Tolerance, 2007) Since there
are many aspects to Taoism in this paper I will do my best to explain what Taoism is and also explain
some of its main concepts. Taoism is described as a Chinese religious and philosophical system aimed

I am not sure if there are any documented cases of immortality but being a believer of holistic
medicine and acupuncture I can see the benefits herbs in my life today. Yin and Yang is the most
universally recognizable symbol for Taoism. The symbol is a circle with one half black and the other
half white. Both halves have a spot with the opposite color which represents being part of the other.
Yin and Yang are two complementary, interdependent principles or phases alternating in space and
time; they are emblems envoking the harmonious interplay of all pairs of opposites in the universe.
(Taoism, 2007) Taoist believe yin and yang exist in all aspects of life. Some believe the white
represents good and the black represents evil. If there is good there is bad, if there is wealth there is
poverty and if there is woman there is man. In other words there is an opposite to everything. The
universe flows in harmony without ever stopping. In chapter 42 of the Tao Te Ching there is a
reference about yin and yang. The Tao is one, from the one come yin and yang, from these two
creative energy (chi), from energy, ten thousand things, the forms of all creations, all life embodies yin
and embraces yang, through their union achieving harmony. (Tao Te Ching, Ch. 51) This brings us to
our next concept, the five elements. The five elements are earth, metal, fire, wood and water. This
theory is as important as the yin and

Reproductive Rights Of Women In The United States
The ability for women from all walks of life to have access to affordable and safe healthcare including
abortion is something I m passionate about. It is appalling to me as both a woman and as a citizen of
the United States that women have had their reproductive choices made for them or extremely limited
by legislatures, especially when these decisions seem to come from a place of ignorance. It s been
incredibly disheartening to watch the reproductive rights of women within the United States be
chipped away and restricted over the past decade by state and federal legislatures. The solutions I
would propose lie primarily in education as it is education that combats ignorance and misinformation.
In this particular case, it would be better sex

Biometric And Identification Of Biometric Identification
Biometric methodologies emerged into existence in 1858 by use of recording hand images for
identification purposes. From 1858 to 1896 studies progressed in the identification of individuals by
hand geometry, a person s measurements, and fingerprints. From the year 1936 to 1985 biometric
studies proceeded for iris pattern, face recognition, acoustic speech, written signature, and hand
identification. Patents for hand and iris identification became a reality 1985 to 1986 and in 1988 the
first semi automated facial recognition system was deployed. By 1991 face recognition is automated
with the ability of detecting faces in real time. By the mid to late 1990 s biometric methodologies
evolves and is integrated into technology allowing the practice of fingerprint, palm systems, and iris
identification to become more reliable with increased automation capabilities. Studies therefore
increased and biometric technology became even more advanced in the early 2000 s up until today s
time.
There are now about 14 different types of biometric technologies that exist today. These biometric
technologies are DNA, Iris, Retina, face, fingerprint, finger geometry, hand geometry, odor, typing,
vein, voice, and gait recognition which are all techniques of identifying and authenticating individuals
that would provide a more reliable and efficient way of verifying a person identification also
preventing access to unauthorized personnel. Biometric technologies today are becoming less

The Death And Life Of Great American Cities
Ten million dollars is a lot of money. When this money has been generated over years of increased
taxes, and is to be put back into a community, it s important to know that this money is being used
wisely. Ten million dollars is the amount of money that the Budlong Woods community is using in
their Tax Increment Financing Redevelopment Area Project. This paper will investigate the current
state of the Budlong Woods community, as well as the specific focus areas of the redevelopment
project and determine whether Budlong Woods is on track to be Chicago s next successful
neighborhood.
Through Jane Jacobs book, The Death and Life of Great American Cities, she details precise features
that make a city successful. Among these, safe sidewalks, lively parks, and diversity of uses and users
are the most important, and will be the focus of study. This paper will compare and contrast the
changes taking place in the Budlong Woods community with those that are successful or unsuccessful
in other city neighborhoods. Through these comparisons it will be determined whether the money
invested in Budlong Woods will drive the community into prosperity, or like many other city
rehabilitation projects, simply be a waste of money that strips the area of its diversity and unique
characteristics.

boundaries of this quiet, northwest neighborhood are Bryn Mawr to the north, Foster to the south,

Introduction
Solvent extraction is dependent on the two liquids having different polarities so that they do not mix
with each other (Example Crude oil and water). When these two liquids are mixed together they form
separate layers, these two liquids would therefore be described as immiscible.
A lot of organic acids cannot be dissolved in water although can be dissolved when placed in organic
solvents. However, their sodium salts are soluble when mixed with water and insoluble when mixed
with organic solvents. This is mostly down to the salts being ionic and the acids are almost completely
undissociated. Sodium salts can be formed by the reaction of an organic acid with aqueous sodium
hydroxide.
RCOOH + NaOH  RCOO Na + H2O
Aim
The aim of the experiment was to purify an organic acid and to synthesise crystals of the organic
solvent. These crystals would then be used to determine the melting point and to calculate the mass of
the sample obtained.
Experimental
20cm3 of organic acid was measured in a measuring cylinder and transferred to the separating funnel.

The Causes Of The Triangle Fire Of 1911
A year after shirtwaist workers thought they had won a war, the Triangle Fire proved that it had
merely been a battle. Under the Triangle Shirtwaist Company owners, Max Blanck and Isaac Harris,
the men and women laboring to sew waist skirts were dissatisfied with their terrible working
conditions and low wages. While working, the garment workers, made up of mostly poor Italian and
Jewish women immigrants, would constantly be yelled at and called sexist slurs by bosses, and forced
to work long, tiring hours for little pay (Argersinger 11). Tired of these conditions, the workers of the
Triangle Shirtwaist Company in New York met in secret to form a union against the company in
September 1909 (Argersinger 11). The union of the garment workers acquired the backing of both the
International Ladies Garment Workers Union and the Women s Trade Union League, which inspired
many other women, both working and upper classes, to follow the older unions lead and join the
garment workers fight. Accordingly, thousands of garment workers launched an eleven week strike on
November 22, 1909, which became known as the Uprising of Twenty Thousand (Argersinger 11 12).
The strikes were successful because they accomplished their key goals, though this came at the cost of
improving workplace safety which eventually led to the Triangle Fire of 1911. Years before the
tragedy, the motivations of the Triangle Shirtwaist Company workers to participate in the Uprising of
Twenty Thousand were

The Large Bathers By Paul Cézanne
Modern art takes the best of artists and their art work and adapts it, adding new techniques and
personal styles of each. When one carefully analyzes different pieces of art with openness to
emotional impression and introspection it allows appreciation and pleasure towards other artists as
well as their works. This paper will provide information on the artist Paul Cézanne and his work The
Large Bathers, look into Matisse s Bonheur de Vivre (Joy of Life) and Picasso s Les Demoiselles d
Avignon. It will also discuss the influence Paul Cézanne had on the aforementioned artists upon
producing their masterpieces.

His passionate and often exasperating life and his drive for re invention fed into his prolific production
of several works of art. Les Demoiselles d Avignon is a prime example of this. Picasso s unique style
of painting followed ideas and traits from both Cezanne and Matisse. He went on to combine
characteristics of both styles and add his own personal touch to create this shattering masterpiece.
Picasso s appearance brought rivalry to Matisse and his styles and as they lived on the next few years,
they figuratively battled one another and always comparing and contrasting each other s paintings. We
can only be thankful and appreciate this art war between these two unique artists which created a
platform for future artist and individuals alike.
To conclude, the life of artistic techniques and principles have taken a drastic change from when it
began. As we saw the art work of Cezanne lived through to Matisse where it took a change, a swing
into Matisse unique style until it got Picasso where the drastic change was made. The amazing beauty
of the same piece created multiple times exerting different moods and emotions for viewers. The art

The Pros And Cons Of A Designer Baby
A designer baby is a baby that has been genetically engineered for selected traits by scientists and
parents. These traits can vary from gender selection to lowered disease risk and much more. In the
future, there will most likely be even more options to choose from. This process is done through in
vitro fertilization (IVF) and preimplantation genetic diagnosis (PGD). IVF is when an egg is
fertilization outside the body, usually in a test tube. The egg and sperm sample is usually extracted and
then the two are combined in a laboratory dish. Then, the embryo is moved to the mother s womb. The
purpose of a designer baby is for the parents to be able to artificially select the baby s genetic makeup,
usually to produce desirable traits such as appearance, personality, and intelligence, can also be
modified. This will provide the child with many advantages in life if it is given more genes that can

that the parents do not carry, there are many bad side effects. First of all, with designer babies, there

humans since life begins at conception. An affect society would face would be a greater divide

the babies from the lower classes. If this process becomes authentic, there will be a loss of

The Pew Research Center poll has found that fifty percent of United States adults oppose the use of
animals in scientific research, and the other surveys suggest that the shrinking group that does accept
animal experimentation does so because they believe it to be necessary for medical progress (What is

there is no adequate alternative to testing on a living system, but that is a fallacy because there are
several other successful scientific methods to test on a living system. More arguments for animal
experimentation is that animals do not have rights so it is acceptable to experiment on them, religious

Analysis Of On Liberty Essay
In Chapter 2 of On Liberty , Mill begins by addressing the issue of whether or not people, either
through governmental means or on their own ought to be allowed to limit or coerce the expression of
another individual s opinion. Mill asserts that any such actions are illegitimate and in short wrong for
two reasons: 1. Humans are infallible and 2. Humans are corrigible. Mill goes on further to state that if
all mankind minus one, were of one opinion, and only one person were of the contrary opinion,
mankind would be no more justified in silencing that one person, than he, if he had the power, would
be justified in silencing mankind. (2;1) In other words, even if just one person held a particular view
or opinion mankind would not be justified in silencing him/her because, according to Mill these
silenced opinions rob the human race, posterity as well as the existing generation. (2;1) For example,
if the said silenced opinion is true, then it robs from us the opportunity of exchanging the error for
truth and likewise, if that said silenced opinion is false, then it robs from us the possibility to challenge
our opinion, which ultimately can provide a clearer and more livelier impression of truth, produced by
its collision with error. (2;1)
In the next paragraph Mill begins by explaining why silencing opinions can be detrimental to
humanity and highlights that we can never be sure that the opinion(s) that we are attempting to stifle
are indeed false and that even if we

Watergate scandal, Nixon was not trusted by the people and congress. In his speech Nixon announced,
it has become evident to me that I no longer have a strong enough political base in the Congress to
justify continuing that effort (Passage 1 Paragraph 2). This describes Congress not trusting Nixon,
because Nixon does not have a strong political base with them. Nixon is sure that, because of the of

The poem, Small Town with One Road, by Gary Soto compares the life of the speaker from when he
was a child to the life he has as an adult. The speaker of the poem is a Mexican who lives in a poor
town where many of the people do manual labor to earn their income. At this point he is grown and
has a daughter, but is in a town that reminds him of his childhood. Here, he describes the happy
children in the neighborhood to the hard life he imagines he would have if he stayed in such a town in
his adulthood. Soto uses imagery to further this comparison; he appeals to the senses to show the
carefreeness of childhood, while also using images of hard work to show the plight of the adults in the
town. Overall, Soto s use of imagery is successful ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This implies that they live in the South, and throughout the poem it describes them living in Mexico.
Next, the children are going to pay for their candy with change and not paper money. While their
candy probably does not cost that much, this still implies that the children are not wealthy enough to
have dollar bills that they can go pay and get change back for. Another example of the children not
being wealthy is, Where there s a dog for each hand, Cats, chickens in the yard . Something that Soto
is trying to point out with his use of imagery is that even though the children do not have much
money, they lives are still very good to them. While to adults, having lots of animals or living on a
farm may allude to poverty, to children it means fun and lots of animals to play with. On the other
hand, the imagery in the next half of the poem that Soto uses about adults is much more serious and
sad than the imagery he has used for the children. A first example is The cotton gin stands tall in the
money dream . This visual imagery is in reference to to picking cotton, or agriculture in general.
Agricultural jobs are common among poor Mexican workers and are probably one of the only ways
that many believe they can really earn money. In this second half of the poem, the author s use of
imagery is mainly featured around jobs and money. A second example of imagery when the speaker is

Psychological Theories Of Assault
Assault is a violent crime that requires offensive touching, hitting, or frightening the victim by word
or deed. Assault crime can be upgraded to a felony when weapons are involved or abusing a victim
during the commission of a felony. Although assault can happen during crimes like robbery and
homicide, abuse happen mostly within a family or relationship (for example child abuse, parental
abuse, dating violence).
Psychological theory explains why a person will have a abuser behavior.. When looking at
psychological theory at the psychodynamic perspective, psychodynamic theory suggest human
personality is controlled by unconscious mental process that develop early in childhood. This theory
suggest how a person behave is greatly dependent on the

Ontological Argument Essay
Most people have not witnessed or experienced God and therefore are confused about its existence. In
Western theology, three theories have emerged to demonstrate the existence of God. These theories are
the ontological argument, the cosmological argument, and the teleological argument. St. Anselm of
eleventh century, and Descartes of seventeenth century, have used the ontological argument for
proving the existence of God. The God, for them, is supreme, quot;needing nothing outside himself,
but needful for the being and well being of all things. quot; (Pg. 305).
St Anselm s account of the ontological argument for the existence of God deals with the existence in
the understanding vs. existence in reality. He defines God as

308). Hence, it is just as much of a contradiction to think of God (that is, a supremely perfect being)
lacking existence (that is, lacking perfection), as it is to think of a mountain without a valley.
His theory is that he can t think of God without it existing and therefore it exists. Also he gives God all
kinds of perfection and because existence is one of the perfection,
quot;God necessarily exists. quot; (Pg. 309).
Kant s critique of Anselm s and Descartes arguments state that existence is not a perfection because all
perfections are qualities, and existence is not any kind of characteristic, quality, attribute, or property.
When we say that something exists, Kant argued, we quot;add nothing to quot; our concept of that
thing we merely say that there is something similar to that concept. It follows that no matter how
many characteristics of a thing we list; we will still not have answered the question whether there is
something having all those characteristics. quot;Being is evidently not a real predicate, or a concept of
something that can be added to the concept of a thing. It is merely the admission of a thing, and of
certain determinations in it. quot; (Pg. 311). His argument is that it is all right to say that God has
certain characteristics but it is another to say that such a God exists. Many contemporary philosophers
agree with Kant s argument, but many others do not. Furthermore, contemporary logicians have

Explain The Branches Of Government
The Branches of Government The constitution of the United States divides the federal government
into three branches to make sure no individual or group will have too much power. They are the
Executive (President and about 5,000,000 workers), Legislative (Senate and House of
Representatives), and Judicial (Supreme Court and lower courts). These ensure the government is
effective and citizens rights are protected, each branch has their own power and responsibilities,
including working with the other branches. The executive power enforces the law while the legislative
power makes new laws and amends existing laws. Judicial power has the authority to review the
constitutionality of laws. Executive powers execute and enforce the law in the United

he meant a young artist named Annie. It is very clear they work very well together as they show on
screen chemistry as if they have known each other forever. After a while, their relationship flourishes
and they decide to get married and soon after, birth two children of their own (Ian and Marie). The

The tracker that Chris is walking with then reveals himself as the real Albert warns Chris that if he
stays with his wife, Annie, for more than a few minutes he may become permanently trapped in Hell.
All that Chris can reasonably expect is a shot to say a final farewell to his dearly departed wife. When
Chris enters the house to find Annie suffering by what seems like amnesia. She is unable to even
remember her suicide and she is tortured by her unreal surroundings in hell. Chris gives up and
decides to join Annie forever in hell. As he announces his intent to stay with his deceased wife, his
words parallel something that he had said to her when he had left her in an institution after their
children s deaths. As Chris begins succumbing to her dreams, Annie begins to regain her memory.
Annie now wants nothing more than to save her husband and she brings Chris with her as she ascends
to heaven. Now in heaven, Chris and Annie reunite, and are joined by their children whose original
appearances have been restored. Chris draws back to a serious tone and proposes the idea of
reincarnation to Annie. He says this so that he and Annie can experience life all over

Descriptive Essay About Hockey
As I walk into the rink for hockey practice I often think about where it all began. I push open the
doors to the lobby, walk down the steps, and get the chills as i feel that familiar cool rink air against
my face. Just before walking into the locker room I ll take a quick glance over at the freshly
resurfaced sheet of ice. Knowing in the back of my head but not always thinking about how much
time i ve actually spent here my whole life. Quickly reminiscing all the years of hard work and
determination i ve put into this single sport, and how much i ve grown on and off the ice. As i go into
the locker room, the same locker room i ve always walked into after every glorious win and
heartbreaking loss, i can faintly hear the sound of laughter and the bass of the music in the
background, sometimes almost nervous as to what i m about to walk in to. I m greeted by my
teammates, already getting dressed for the upcoming practice, with big smiles on their faces. Almost
immediately feeling the intense vibe of the locker room, my heart rate increases just thinking about
getting on the ice. More times than most I find myself rushing to get ready due to the fact that i get too
caught up in talking with teammates. Sometimes i sit and get dressed in silence because i have too
much on my mind. But by the time i get on the ice all of the millions of thoughts that are running
through my mind throughout the day just fade away. To me that s the most important part, being able
to escape reality

  • 21. The Workplace Is Important For Employees Researchers have found that across cultures, having autonomy in the workplace is important to employees. It has positive benefits for both the employee and the company. Those who have more autonomy at work will tend to be more loyal to their employer, perform better, be more engaged, and be more productive. It s also been shown that businesses that give their employees autonomy will have a lower turnover rate, which also saves you money in the long run. If you have been the type of manager who hasn t been giving your employees autonomy, have no fear. It is never too late to make changes and become the type of leader who does. Begin by letting your employees know that you would like them to become more involved in calling the shots and in making some of the decisions about how to get things done. You can make the change all at once, or you can gradually let go of things and let the transition take place more slowly. Either way, you will notice a big difference in your team when you get to the point where they have autonomy. They will be happier, more satisfied at work, and likely much more productive. People who are satisfied and happy with where they work will go out of their way to go above and beyond for their employer. Be the kind of employer who makes employees want to be loyal and go above and beyond. It is sometimes easier to see how appreciated autonomy will be if you can imagine yourself in their shoes. Like the old saying goes, treat others how you want to be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The global positioning system would show you where your current location was and then it would pinpoint the destination you are trying to get to. The global positioning system would then give you different routes you could take, and give you an estimated time on how long each route could possibly take. Think of fate like the different routes you are given on your global positioning system. You have a bunch of options, but they all lead you to the same destination. When dealing with fate, it may seem like you are in control of your life, and that you can make decision for yourself, but in the end you cannot escape your fate. The Greeks believed in the power of the Gods and of fate. The Merriam Webster Dictionary defines fate as the development of events beyond a person s control, regarded as determined by a supernatural power (fate). The Greeks also believed that fate was a pre determined phenomena, and therefore was unchangeable. A widely known example of fate is in the Greek tragedy Oedipus Rex written by Sophocles. Oedipus Rex suggests that people have little control over their own lives, and that ultimately people are just puppets in the hands of the mythological Gods. When these two liquids are mixed together they form separate layers, these two liquids would therefore be described as immiscible. A lot of organic acids cannot be dissolved in water although can be dissolved when placed in organic solvents. However, their sodium salts are soluble when mixed with water and insoluble when mixed with organic solvents. This is mostly down to the salts being ionic and the acids are almost completely undissociated. Sodium salts can be formed by the reaction of an organic acid with aqueous sodium hydroxide. Under the Triangle Shirtwaist Company owners, Max Blanck and Isaac Harris, the men and women laboring to sew waist skirts were dissatisfied with their terrible working conditions and low wages. While working, the garment workers, made up of mostly poor Italian and Jewish women immigrants, would constantly be yelled at and called sexist slurs by bosses, and forced to work long, tiring hours for little pay (Argersinger 11). Tired of these conditions, the workers of the Triangle Shirtwaist Company in New York met in secret to form a union against the company in September 1909 (Argersinger 11). The union of the garment workers acquired the backing of both the International Ladies Garment Workers Union and the Women s Trade Union League, which inspired many other women, both working and upper classes, to follow the older unions lead and join the garment workers fight. Accordingly, thousands of garment workers launched an eleven week strike on November 22, 1909, which became known as the Uprising of Twenty Thousand (Argersinger 11 12). The strikes were successful because they accomplished their key goals, though this came at the cost of improving workplace safety which eventually led to the Triangle Fire of 1911. Analysis Of On Liberty Essay In Chapter 2 of On Liberty , Mill begins by addressing the issue of whether or not people, either through governmental means or on their own ought to be allowed to limit or coerce the expression of another individual s opinion. Mill asserts that any such actions are illegitimate and in short wrong for two reasons: 1. Humans are infallible and 2. Humans are corrigible. Mill goes on further to state that if all mankind minus one, were of one opinion, and only one person were of the contrary opinion, mankind would be no more justified in silencing that one person, than he, if he had the power, would be justified in silencing mankind. (2;1) In other words, even if just one person held a particular view or opinion mankind would not be justified in silencing him/her because, according to Mill these silenced opinions rob the human race, posterity as well as the existing generation. (2;1) For example, if the said silenced opinion is true, then it robs from us the opportunity of exchanging the error for truth and likewise, if that said silenced opinion is false, then it robs from us the possibility to challenge our opinion, which ultimately can provide a clearer and more livelier impression of truth, produced by its collision with error. At this point he is grown and has a daughter, but is in a town that reminds him of his childhood. Here, he describes the happy children in the neighborhood to the hard life he imagines he would have if he stayed in such a town in his adulthood. Soto uses imagery to further this comparison; he appeals to the senses to show the carefreeness of childhood, while also using images of hard work to show the plight of the adults in the town. Overall, Soto s use of imagery is successful ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This implies that they live in the South, and throughout the poem it describes them living in Mexico. Next, the children are going to pay for their candy with change and not paper money. While their candy probably does not cost that much, this still implies that the children are not wealthy enough to have dollar bills that they can go pay and get change back for. Another example of the children not being wealthy is, Where there s a dog for each hand, Cats, chickens in the yard . Something that Soto is trying to point out with his use of imagery is that even though the children do not have much money, they lives are still very good to them. While to adults, having lots of animals or living on a farm may allude to poverty, to children it means fun and lots of animals to play with. On the other hand, the imagery in the next half of the poem that Soto uses about adults is much more serious and sad than the imagery he has used for the children. A first example is The cotton gin stands tall in the money dream . This visual imagery is in reference to to picking cotton, or agriculture in general. Agricultural jobs are common among poor Mexican workers and are probably one of the only ways that many believe they can really earn money. In this second half of the poem, the author s use of imagery is mainly featured around jobs and money. A second example of imagery when the speaker is talking to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 45. Ontological Argument Essay Most people have not witnessed or experienced God and therefore are confused about its existence. In Western theology, three theories have emerged to demonstrate the existence of God. These theories are the ontological argument, the cosmological argument, and the teleological argument. St. Anselm of eleventh century, and Descartes of seventeenth century, have used the ontological argument for proving the existence of God. The God, for them, is supreme, quot;needing nothing outside himself, but needful for the being and well being of all things. quot; (Pg. 305). St Anselm s account of the ontological argument for the existence of God deals with the existence in the understanding vs. existence in reality. He defines God as the ... Hence, it is just as much of a contradiction to think of God (that is, a supremely perfect being) lacking existence (that is, lacking perfection), as it is to think of a mountain without a valley. His theory is that he can t think of God without it existing and therefore it exists. Also he gives God all kinds of perfection and because existence is one of the perfection, quot;God necessarily exists. quot; (Pg. 309). Kant s critique of Anselm s and Descartes arguments state that existence is not a perfection because all perfections are qualities, and existence is not any kind of characteristic, quality, attribute, or property. When we say that something exists, Kant argued, we quot;add nothing to quot; our concept of that thing we merely say that there is something similar to that concept. It follows that no matter how many characteristics of a thing we list; we will still not have answered the question whether there is something having all those characteristics. quot;Being is evidently not a real predicate, or a concept of something that can be added to the concept of a thing. It is merely the admission of a thing, and of certain determinations in it. quot; (Pg. 311). His argument is that it is all right to say that God has certain characteristics but it is another to say that such a God exists. Many contemporary philosophers agree with Kant s argument, but many others do not. Furthermore, contemporary logicians have developed ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 48. Descriptive Essay About Hockey As I walk into the rink for hockey practice I often think about where it all began. I push open the doors to the lobby, walk down the steps, and get the chills as i feel that familiar cool rink air against my face. Just before walking into the locker room I ll take a quick glance over at the freshly resurfaced sheet of ice. Knowing in the back of my head but not always thinking about how much time i ve actually spent here my whole life. Quickly reminiscing all the years of hard work and determination i ve put into this single sport, and how much i ve grown on and off the ice. As i go into the locker room, the same locker room i ve always walked into after every glorious win and heartbreaking loss, i can faintly hear the sound of laughter and the bass of the music in the background, sometimes almost nervous as to what i m about to walk in to. I m greeted by my teammates, already getting dressed for the upcoming practice, with big smiles on their faces. Almost immediately feeling the intense vibe of the locker room, my heart rate increases just thinking about getting on the ice. More times than most I find myself rushing to get ready due to the fact that i get too caught up in talking with teammates. Sometimes i sit and get dressed in silence because i have too much on my mind. But by the time i get on the ice all of the millions of thoughts that are running through my mind throughout the day just fade away. To me that s the most important part, being able to escape reality ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
