A Brief Note On Agency And Status Role
Biopsyhcosocial
Agency and Status Role The agency in which this clinician is working is a resource center. The
resource center connects individuals with resources throughout the community such as food banks,
shelters, rental assistance and energy assistance. The program is grant funded and also offers many
other services such as counseling, parenting classes, and bullying education. This client is self referred
and came in to get some information and talk to someone about some current stressors in her life.
Identifying Information
Client is a thirty year Caucasian woman and works full time as an esthetician manager. She currently
lives with her father, mother, brother and daughter in an apartment. Client s father has multiple
sclerosis and she has been caring for him for approximately 6 years. Client s mother and brother
recently moved in due to their own financial hardship. Client s brother is intellectually disabled and is
also an Alcoholic. Client s daughter is seven years old and attends public school full time. Client also
has a tumultuous relationship with her daughter s father.
Presenting Problem Client came in seeking services about counseling. Her chief complaint is stress at
work. She feels as though she has lost some of her motivation and excitement around the work that
she does. She described loving her job when she first started. She stated that it was fun and she was
able to leave work at work. Things were not difficult or stressful. However, at this time

Lifetime Bans Should Be Utilized in the NHL
For any professional athlete, there is a natural assumption of risk to one s physical well being. Players
are constantly honing their bodies in the weight room not just to become faster and stronger than their
competition, but also to protect against the injuries that can ruin a season (Barrabi). The National
Hockey League (NHL) was one of the last professional sports organizations to issue sanctions against
players who cause concussions and head injuries. Just in the past season alone, there have been a total
of 44 suspensions in the NHL (TSN.com). Many of these suspensions were assessed due to dangerous,
and sometimes intentional, behavior. To many people, these 44 suspensions occurring in the past
season may seem too excessive; compared to 2004, it is. However, the frequency of behavior resulting
in suspensions has increased over the past several years due to rule changes and a new disciplinary
council assessing said suspensions. Despite the change in rules, some still intentionally commit acts of
violence against opposing players. These players defense is that they are trying to preserve the
tradition and respect of the game by humbling new, arrogant players who unnecessarily show off or
target star players (Jones). Although preserving this tradition is expected and necessary due to the
violent nature of the game, many players let their tempers get out of control. Because of various
injuries, especially head injuries, league officials should take a tougher

The Definition Of E Learning
Definition of e Learning
Today people need to learn new concepts and new techniques that change rapidly, so people have an
overwhelming need to learn, sometime they also need to work while learning and their resources are
limited therefore they need the power of technology to overcome the limitations of time, distance and
resources. E Learning provide people from one or different organizations anytime and anywhere
learning possibilities, providing the resources to teach them. Different e
Learning methods exist to support the different learning styles of different people who learn in
different ways and at different times. According to Mindflash.com (2015) E Learning is a range of
information technologies that schools and corporations use for education and training. In e
Learning courses, instructors and students who are too often located in different physical places
receive the information through computer networks, so they are provided the same material via their
computers.
According to Hung Jui long, (2012), some scholars define e learning as an instruction delivered by all
electronic media. Among them is Govindasamy (2002, p. 288) who stated that e learning
includes instruction delivered via all electronic media including the Internet, intranets, extranets,
satellite broadcasts, audio/video tape, interactive TV, and CD ROM.
Significant developments in e Learning over the past ten years
One of the most significant developments in e learning is the introduction of

History Of The Assembly Line
Because of the high rate at which an assembly line can produce goods, it helps the companies with
them gain more control over the economy over the nation and drive out businesses that cannot afford
an assembly line. Before the assembly line was introduced, each Model T cost about $850, but after
the assembly line, it cost less than $300 (6 9). Henry Ford had always envisioned a car that could be
bought by the average family (9 12). He wanted to become rich and knew that aiming to have every
American as a potential consumer was the best way to do so (11). When his prices fell by that much, it
opened the market to many more people, so the demand for a lower price car went up, and Ford was
able to sell over 850,000 Model T cars in under

Effects Of Beauty On The Labor Market Essay
It has become increasing clear that beauty may play a role when it comes to social interactions
involved in economic or political opportunities. Now, one may ask how beauty could possibly play a
noticeable impact on situations concerning economic or political opportunities. Yet, it does. A
laboratory experiment was conducted to fully study the impact of beauty premium , the positive
association and relationship between attractiveness and wages, on economic success in the labor
market. The experiment was conducted by Tatyana Deryugina, a professor of finance and her
companions. Although illegal, labor market discrimination has occurred based on physical
appearances and Tatyana wanted to test this notion. Deriving from this experiment, they were able to
conclude that the beauty premium does indeed exist although only in certain circumstances. Only in
tasks such as bargaining does beauty premium significantly show a positive correlation. In other tasks
such as analysis or data entry, the notion of beauty premium does not exist. They state, we find that the
beauty premium in bargaining completely vanishes in the second round of bidding when the task is
repeated, which suggests that employers learn quickly that performance is uncorrelated with
attractiveness (Deryugina 2015). The point is that physical beauty is what deceives the mind into
thinking that the more attractive one is, the more competent they may be in performing and executing
skills such as bargaining.

Symbolism Of A Butterfly In The Holocaust
The butterfly has become a symbol for the 1.5 million children murdered in the holocaust. During the
holocaust many children were put into concentration camps, they knew they were going to die. They
carved hundreds of butterflies with their nails or stones on the walls of the prisons. I believe these
butterflies represented their souls. They had a meaning. The butterflies were supposedly a message of
hope, that despite the fact that they would be dead before long, their souls would not die. Just like how
a larva turns out into a butterfly an flies out of the cocoon, similar once they die, they would
completely come out of their suffering and hardships and once again live life in peace and freedom. A
butterfly is so awakening and charming which

Inter Team Conflicts And Interpersonal Conflicts
When a group of people is brought together to form a team it is inevitable that some type of conflict
will arise. Every member of a team has value and each one must understand that a team without
conflict is necessary to accomplish the goal at hand (Mosley, 2005). There are multiple things that can
lead to conflicts and leaders must recognize these to have an effective team. As a result of this, the
leader must take into account everyone s background and experience level as the team is formed. This
paper will discuss the inter team conflicts, interpersonal conflicts, why policies are created and ways a
leader can prevent conflicts from happening.
Inter team Conflict Conflict in teams can have an adverse effect on a team s performance. As a leader,
it is imperative to manage conflict and handle matters before they become unmanageable. Assessing
and managing inter team conflicts before they arise is critical when stopping conflicts (Hoegl,
Weinkauf Gemuenden, 2004). When conflict occurs, the trigger or event could be very minor and
seem insignificant at the time. However, if the conflict is not resolved quickly, it could build up over
time, creating a snowball effect. After this happens, it s a matter of time before the conflict reaches a
tipping point and emotions flare up. Conflict can result from a variety of events or situations. These
could arise as a result of misinformation, a misunderstanding between team members, or a lack of

Grit By Angela Angele Duckworth Analysis
Being Grit and Growth Mindset is the Key to Success Angela Lee Duckworth states: Grit is related
because part of what it meant to be gritty is to be resilient in the face of failure or adversity. As she
said, grit is being positive to response failure. Angela Lee Duckworth is an American author. In the
article Grit, which is written is written by Angela Lee Duckworth in 2003. She introduces her research
that shows the relationship between grit and achievement, and the importance of helping students
develop grit. By reading the article The Significance of Grit, it was touched me deeply. For me, I am
Chinese, but my family moved to Kazakhstan. For those unknown country, language, culture I was
very baffled, but I overcome those difficulties; therefore being grit and having growth mindset lead me
to success. In the article The Significance of Grit she states grit has two components; passion and
perseverance. Passion means a strong feeling or emotion to someone s job they are doing.
Perseverance means no matter how difficult it is people are keep trying doing it, and never give up.
We can read the article The Significance of Grit that The most successful people in life are both
talented and gritty in whatever they ve chosen to do (Duckworth p17) Then she mentioned about when
people emphasized talent; will become nothing. I totally agree with her. When people make an effort
plus talent, they can succeed. When I was the first semester at Irvine Valley College, I

Martin Luther And The Protestant Reformation
In the early days of November 10, 1483, Martin Luther was born in Eisleben, Saxony, in modern
southeast Germany and it was an extremely tense world. But on the other hand great changes were
waiting around the corner, and Luther too, would take a part in these changes.
On October 31, 1517, Martin Luther, angry with Pope Leo X s new round of indulgences to help build
St. Peter s Basilica, nailed a sheet of paper with his 95 Theses on the University of Wittenberg s
chapel door. Martin Luther was a German monk who began the Protestant Reformation in the 16th
century, becoming one of the most influential and controversial figures in Christian history. Luther
called into question some of the basic tenets of Roman Catholicism, and his followers soon split from
the Roman Catholic Church to begin the Protestant tradition.
The first few years of monastic life were difficult for Martin Luther, as he did not find the religious
enlightenment he was seeking. A mentor told him to focus his life exclusively on Christ and this
would later provide him with the guidance he sought.
At age 27, Luther was given the opportunity to be a delegate to a Catholic church conference in Rome.
He came away more disillusioned, and very discouraged by the immorality and corruption he
witnessed there among the Catholic priests. Upon his return to Germany, he enrolled in the University
of Wittenberg in an attempt to suppress his spiritual turmoil. He excelled in his studies and received a
doctorate,

Joy Luck Club Character Analysis
No one is the same everyone is a different person and while people may have similarities they are still
different people with different ideas and thoughts and outlooks on life even mothers and daughters.
Such as the daughters and mothers in the book, The Joy Luck Club. For starters, a young girl named
June and her mother Suyuan Woo were both alike in one common idea that they had completely
different views on everything even in speaking as she states, these kinds of explanations made me feel
my mother and I spoke two different languages, which we did. I talked to her in english, she answered
back in chinese. (Joy Luck, Tan,34) In saying this June tells metaphorically that they don t speak the
same language as in her mother and her never really seen things in the same light and literally as she
does not speak her mother s tongue. Even when they relate physically the mother relays to her
daughter that she is a foreigner to her and her past as the story goes, A friend once told me that my
mother and i were alike, that we had the same wispy hand gestures, same girlish laugh and sideways
look. When I shyly told my mother this, she seemed insulted and said, you don t even know little
percent of me how can you be me. (Joy Luck,Tan,27) This shows that while the daughter was trying to
relate to the mother by telling of her friends thoughts of their physical similarities she dismisses these
and says that her own daughter does not know her as a person. Secondly, over the

Essay about Criminal Evidence
Evidence is the key element in determining the guilt or innocence of those accused of crimes against
society in a criminal court of law. Evidence can come in the form of weapons, documents, pictures,
tape recordings and DNA. According to the American Heritage College dictionary, evidence is the
documentary or oral statements and the material objects admissible as testimony in a court of law
(476). It is shown in court as an item of proof, to impeach or rehabilitate a witness, and to determine a
sentence. This paper will examine two murder cases, O.J. Simpson and Daniel Taylor.
Perhaps the most famous case in the 20th century was the O. J. Simpson double murder trial. On June
12, 1994, two people were brutally killed. Those two people ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The police investigations uncovered more evidences to link Simpson to the murders. Their testimonies
showed that Simpson had actually planned the crime. He had an alibi but it was shaky. Simpson s
history of spousal abuse gave the prosecutors was a blow to his case too. All the evidences pointed
unfavorably toward O. J. Simpson
Despite all this evidence, the jury found O.J. not guilty. The LAPD made some mistakes, which
allowed the defense to attack the creditability of the police. O.J. s defense, called quot; The Dream
Team, quot; took advantage of the prosecutions and the officers incompetence and created reasonable
doubt in the jurors minds (CNN). The officers duties included making sure that no unauthorized
people may enter the scene. They had allowed unauthorized officers the go through the scene, thus
causing some contamination to the crime scene. By all accounts, the prosecution did a poor job
presenting the evidence and the officers did not do a very good job at securing the scene
On the other hand, the case of Daniel Taylor, who was convicted of murdering two people also, had a
solid Alibi with paperwork and witnesses to support his alibi it seemed almost impossible for the jury
to find him guilty. But on December morning in 1992, 17 year old gang member, Daniel, confessed to
a double murder committed two weeks earlier in the Uptown neighborhood. (Chicago Tribune) . The
case was built upon Taylor s confession.
Taylor claimed that they

Explain The Three Steps Of Occupational Therapy Intervention
The intervention focuses on programs that are people oriented and environmental. These are designed
to facilitate the performance of everyday tasks and adaption of settings in which the person work, live,
and socializes. Example teaching new techniques and providing equipment which facilitate
independence. It also reduces environmental barriers and providing resources. The three steps of the
treatment intervention process include intervention plan, implementation, and intervention review. The
intervention plan directs the action of the occupational therapist and occupational therapy assistant.
The intervention is developed collaboratively with the client and is based on the client s goals and
priorities. Depending on whether the client is a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Successful Reader
Learning to read is a complex task which involves more than just decoding the print on the page. The
goal of reading is to construct meaning from the text (Winch, 2014). While the teaching of decoding
skills is an extremely important step in the reading process, simply having the skills of decoding is not
enough to become a successful reader. For this reason, the key elements of the reading process will be
discussed in an order which allows children to develop the building blocks necessary to become a
successful reader. Systematic and explicit reading instruction is vital for reading development as it
allows children to build on the previously acquired skills and strategies required to become a
successful reader. The purpose of this essay is to explain why having a concept of print, phonemic
awareness, phonics and comprehension are important to the reading process and how effective
teachers teach these skills.
Early experiences with print lay the foundation for becoming a successful reader. Children need to
understand that print is what carries the message in order to find the ... Show more content on

It has discussed how the elements along with explicit and systematic reading instruction all work
together to create successful readers. It is clear that reading development begins with children
understanding that print carries the message and, as a result, this creates the motivation to read.
Reading development then progresses to the development of phonemic awareness which lays the
foundation for phonics instruction. Once the skills of decoding are learnt, children can then start to
combine these skills with comprehension strategies to make meaning of what is read. These skills and
strategies do not come naturally to children, therefore, effective teachers provide rich learning
experiences which model, scaffold and allow children to apply what they have learnt to authentic

Carrier Corporation Case Study Analysis
Intro During the 1990 s the Carrier Corporation was working on a highly innovative new global chiller
under 300 kW, called Aquasnap. The new design would integrate a Hydronic Kit inside the chiller, all
previous versions required installation of the kit outside the chiller. While the new design would cost
less, require less installation time, and save floor space, it did raise some concerns. Carrier was
becoming deeply invested in the design and was worried if the world was ready for such an innovative
product. The following sections answer some of the issues; what should Thierry Jomard s (lead
engineer) decision be, should the hydronic kit be integrated and how does Carrier address future
environmental regulations, what are the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The only way Carrier could compete was by designing a product with low labor costs (Gibbons, and
Ramdas) (i.e. the aquasnap). The implementation of the integrated aquasnap, will increase at a slightly
greater rate each year, and will allow Carrier to earn about $8.6 million dollars more in 2002 alone,
and $22.5 million more from 1997 to 2002. Also mass production will lower the overall cost of
manufacturing due to various factors (i.e. cost of materials, number of parts, number of operations,
assembly time, assembly cost, selling price, and overall price will all be reduced). The share
projections are a steady 14% until 1998. If the delay bleeds into 1999 the overall loss on that entire
year would be $6.8 million, but the overall market share would still increase $15.7 million through
2002. Scenarios similar to Aquasnap can be found in gaming consoles. The integration of the DVD to
the PS2 game console allowed Sony to set itself apart from Nintendo, making it the highest selling
game console ever. The PS2 saved the customer space, time, and money by not having to buy a dvd
player. Even though the PS2 was $100 more than the Nintendo N64, it dominated the market because
of simplicity and convenience (Playstation website). Aquasnap also creates simplicity and
convenience for the customer but is cheaper than the competitor; therefore similar market dominance
can be expected. The chart on the right shows the sales of the N64 and the above chart shows the

The Conservative Heart Analysis
Arthur Brooks book The Conservative Heart How to Build a Fairer, Happier and More Prosperous
America represents a challenge to the established view of Conservatives and Republicans regarding
America s social issues. Many Americans feel caught between two dispiriting political choices:
ineffective compassion on one hand and heartless pragmatism on the other. While
Democrats/Progressives have always provided this ongoing narrative of party who were once the
champions of the underprivileged; collapsed in the 2016 elections. The Progressive message was
clearly understood as identity politics not the champions of the underdog as promised. However,
Conservatives who can provide the better solutions to poverty were tagged with a variety of labels,
such as non compassionate or out of touch. Conservatives have been notoriously marked as the
country club concerned about their own wealth preservation. Unfortunately, until the 2016 election,
conservatives failed to message their solutions to America s poverty. I personally felt that the author
spent an exceeding amount of time discussing and outlining the Doe Fund and its impact. I felt that the
author was idealistic at best in putting forward a reasonable ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

In order to understand the global consumers of L Oreal, they strengthened their global presence in six
regions; Europe, United States, Japan, China, Brazil and India. This enabled L Oreal to come closer to
their global market, as well as to gain the wealth of specific scientific and marketing knowledge of
each region. In India, L Oreal has its product development center in Mumbai from where it studies the
specifics of hair and skin types of the Indian consumers, as well as their expectations and beauty

The Causal Agent Of Cypress Tree
Introduction Seiridium cardinale (Wagener) Sutton et Gibson has been wrecking havoc on populations
of cypress (particularly Cupressus macrocarpa and C. sempervirens) since its discovery in California
in 1927 and its spread to Europe shortly thereafter (Raddi and Panconesi 1981; Wagener 1928). In the
1920 s, disease symptoms in C. macrocarpa were originally attributed to insects (Wagener 1928).
Wagener officially identified the causal agent as Coryneum cardinale in 1939, though Sutton and
Gibson later renamed the fungus to its current taxonomical standing. The causal agent of cypress
canker has now been identified as three phenotypically similar, yet genetically distinct Seiridium
species (Barnes et al. 2001; Graniti 1998; Tsopelas et ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
2001). Of the three, S. cardinale is the most pathogenic, producing the most seiridins (fungal
metabolites that are toxic to trees), and is most commonly associated with cypress canker in the
literature (for this reason I will focus on S. cardinale during the remainder of this review) (Graniti
1998). S. cardinale is an imperfect, thermophilic Ascomycete, forming irregular, scattered or clustered,
blackish pustules (acervuli) that can be partially immersed or erumpent on the dead bark of cankers on
cypress twigs, branches, and stems (Graniti 1998; Raddi and Panconesi 1981; Wagener 1928, 1939).
Oblong fuscid and septate conidia are borne on simple or branched conidiophores and are readily
dispersed by rain, wind, insects, and birds under conducive climatic conditions (high relative humidity
with alternating periods of hot and humid with dry and windy) during the spring and autumn (Graniti
1998; Raddi and Panconesi 1981; Wagener 1939; Zocca et al. 2008). The pathogen can remain
dormant, without losing pathogenicity, during non conducive conditions within the outer bark as
mycelium or chlamidospores (Graniti 1998; Raddi and Panconesi 1981). Symptomology The first and
most notable symptom of infection on susceptible cypress occurs as irregular patches of crown
chlorosis and death, particularly on small and young branches (Granti 1998; Raddi and Panconesi
1981; Wagener 1928, 1939). Closer examination of symptomatic trees reveals the presence of
tapering,

What Affects How Efficient A Legislature
What affects how efficient a legislature is? The concept of legislative efficiency is defined as the
extent to which legislature exhibits the characteristic of organization and competency and is measured
by comparing the trustworthiness, and political efficacy of a country. Efficiency is a fundamental
element to results in life. Organizations and processes need to optimize their solutions, in comparison
to the problems they are confronted with, so that they can continue to be competitive, and trusted in
the world we observe. Legislatures are no exception to that statement, however, while they strive to be
efficient and effective, they must also look out for the values of their country or communities, and
interest of their people. In this paper I will discuss potential independent variables associated with the
efficiency of legislature, why they could be affecting the efficiency, and examples from news stories
relating to the topic
My dependent variable in this question is the efficiency. I am researching to find an independent
variable that will help me better understand how the efficiency of politics is affected in legislative
systems. The efficiency of legislature may be found on a different path than that of markets, and
companies, but in the end, they all desire an optimized system for passing legislature that citizens
believe in. In most legislature situations, this means winning a majority vote to push forward solutions
or actions to problems they are facing.

China s Second Largest Travel And Tourism Economy After...
China is only flourishing as the years go by, and it is only going to continue to flourish because of the
way society is brought upon them. It is essential to know the importance of tourism and all the
positive and negative attributes it has to offer. China is the world s second largest travel and tourism
economy after the United States by 2015 , according to a new report from the World Travel Tourism
Council (WTTC). China s tourist appeal is very different from any other countries outside of East
Asia, offering a variety of things to do and places to visit. China is an exotic country with new sights
and experiences to enjoy, and has an extraordinary culture waiting for you to discover. English is
rarely spoken by locals, and seemingly everything about the culture is backwards from what you
know, but if you re up for the challenge, you ll be rewarded with a truly spectacular experience (Vans
Hinbergh). China is a very large country and with that, has many traditions and customs depending on
what geography and ethnicity you are located in the country. More than 1 billion people live in China,
according to the Asia Society, representing 56 ethnic minority groups. The largest group is the Han
Chinese, with about 900 million people (Zimmermann). It s a country that is rapidly developing new
architectures and quite frankly, losing a lot of its history to Western destruction and should be visited
soon to grasp the culture they have to offer. China s culture happens to

Starbucks Company Analysis
SYNOPSIS Starbucks Corporation, originally founded in 1971, but purchased by Howard Schultz in
1987, is the market leader in selling gourmet coffee (Starbucks, 2008). Starbuck s main objective is to
establish itself as the most respected and recognized coffee brand in the world (Fact Sheet, 2008).
Starbucks has accomplished this objective and experienced much success through their competitive
strategy of clustering several stores within the same community and through their distinctive
competencies of roasting and selling the quality coffee while providing high quality customer service.
The question is, can Starbucks continue their market share growth with rising competitors? Should
they focus more on their international operations? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Fair trade coffee also bypasses the coffee trader, therefore giving the producer higher profits. Fair
trade coffee growers are guaranteed a minimum price of $1.26 per pound for their coffee. If the world
coffee prices rise above this floor price, farmers will be paid a small premium $0.05 per pound above
market price (Coffee Research Institute, 2006). This contributes to helping coffee farmers stay out of
debt and provides some stability for both producers and sellers of coffee to an unstable market (Coffee
Research Institute, 2006). Environmentally, the main negative impacts from coffee production include
habitat conversion, soil degradation, pesticide use, and declines in water quality (WWF, 2005). The
most serious impact of coffee cultivation continues to be the conversion of natural forest areas into
flatlands in order to plant coffee. Unfortunately, a driving force of habitat conversion is the increasing
market for high grade specialty coffees (WWF, 2005). Many companies, however, like Starbucks,
work with local farmers to ensure the best economic return and least detrimental environmental
impacts as possible. It is true that recent trends in the coffee industry point to a decline in demand and
sales revenues; in general, coffee

How Did Steel Change Society
Steel has done many incredible things and taken mankind further than we could have ever dreamed. It
is used in almost every metal object that we Americans use on a daily basis, and it would be almost
impossible to find one without it. Not only that, but steel is also used in many other things throughout
America that would not be possible without it. The development of steel was a revolutionary pivotal
point in the history of the United States, because it is involved in the creation of steel appliances and
objects, buildings and skyscrapers, and the railroad, which was the backbone of early America. To
know how steel impacted the world and changed society for the better, you must first know the history
of it and how it came to be. Steel is an alloy of iron mixed with primarily carbon and a small amount
of other tiny elements. It dates back to have been created almost 4000 years ago ... Show more content

After that, steel was used more than iron, bronze, and copper, because it was cheaper to make and it

Andrew Carnegie, who was an American immigrant from Scotland, brought about the explosion of
steel ( Andrew Carnegie ). He was one of the key players that led way for the industrialization for
America as we know it. One could tell that steel was so important, because he became one of the
richest men to ever step foot in America back in his time, solely because of this product. Carnegie
started out as a telegraph operator for the Pennsylvania Railroad and eventually worked his way up in
that corporation and became a superintendent. Carnegie s boss taught him how to invest in shares of

He also learned the importance of networking and understood that if you wanted to get anywhere in

Maritime Terrorist Attacks via Containerized Shipping
Christopher Welch
Author Note
This paper was prepared for Operations Management 5993, taught by Dr. Livingston
Executive Summary
There is a growing concern over the vulnerabilities of port security and the possible exploitation of
these vulnerabilities by a terrorist organization; specifically, the use of containerized shipping. The
vastness of the process of maritime operations alone creates a large opportunity for vulnerability, but
add to it the different regulation requirements by all the different countries involved in the global
market and there is a large difference in protection standards and the execution of them. This paper
will explore the possibilities of a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The main agenda of Maritime security is protection of our National ports. By preventing smuggling,
as well as, other threat scenarios like a ship being used as a collision weapon or transportation of
Weapons of Mass Destruction.
An estimated $4 trillion worth of the worlds goods are moved by see, this is roughly 80 percent of
global freight and it is accomplished in the form of cargo that is transshipped. This demonstrates the
shear overwhelming size of the task of tracking and inspecting all of the containers that travel to and
from the United States. For all parties involved in enforcing the security measures, there is a constant
battle, over executing the requirements and how much time it takes. Because most shipping companies
work on a last minute deliver type system, which allows for the lowest cost of the shipping, there is
really no time allocated for mistakes or inspections. So, the delay in deliver can cost millions of
dollars for U.S. economy.
Risk Analysis Assessment
When considering the risk of maritime shipping be utilized to deliver a WMD, chemical weapon or
the parts to create one, a solid assessment of the probability of it happening and impact if it happened
needs to be completed. The probability of this type of attack is low, but the impact of it, if it happened,
would be catastrophic in terms of

Oil Companies And Economic Power
Oil Companies and Economic Power
Introduction
In the modern world energy has become very important since it helps drive most industrial as well as
home based activities. The process that leads to production of the world s largest energy provider, Oil,
however has continued to receive criticism. This is so since production of Gasoline, Natural Gas,
Kerosene as well as other components present in crude oil leads to some forms of environmental
pollution. This has led to devastating climatic changes around the world which has in turn led to loss
of lives and property. In the course of transporting crude oil to refinery stations, cases of oil spillages

Oil companies operate in defined regions where oil exploration and possible drilling is done. However
some companies such as Shell BP engage in international drilling and distribution of oil products.
Below are some of the most renowned oil companies in their constituent continents: Africa: Sasol of
South of South Africa and National Petroleum Company of Congo. In Asia some of the leading oil
companies include Nobel Group and the Bahrain Oil Company. It is important to note that Asia has a
lot of oil resources and hence have extensive oil drilling activities. In Europe we have Partex oil and
Gas Company, in South America three is Bridas Corporation based in Argentina. North America has
one of the most advanced technology in the oil industry. These companies have extended their
activities around the globe in a bid to discover more oil resources to sustain future energy
requirements. Some North America companies include Shell Oil Company and the Apache
Corporation. This paper will focus on the importance of oil companies over and above the problems
that they pose to the environment as well as the political stability of the world. For practical examples
I chose to use the state of Alaska where oil companies have based their operations as a case study.

Theme Of Go Set A Watchman
Go Set A Watchman describes the confusing and thrilling life of Jean Louise Finch. Harper lee sets the
book to take place in the mid 50 s and begins with the main character returning home to Maycomb
Alabama for her yearly two week trip. The story then follows Jean as she discovers that both her
father and her past love interest are involved in an organization that is dedicated to preserving racial
segregation. Outraged by what she has found, she becomes infuriated with everyone around her.
Making it difficult for her to really understand what was going on. This piece of fiction truly shows
how your view on an individual can quickly change in a second. One major theme that continuously
played a part throughout the entire novel is racism. The whole story revolves around the racism that
Jean experienced in her hometown. For example, Jeans aunt Alexandra disapproved of the romance
between Henry and Jean. She believed that Henry was never going to be good enough. When Jean
brings up the idea of marriage, Alexandra shouts at her that Henry is not and never will be suitable for

When he was arrested and jailed in Birmingham, Alabama he then fell under criticism by white clergy
for coming to Birmingham as an outsider to cause trouble and increase tension through public sit ins

credibility to have not only been invited to come to Birmingham to help end the injustice to the Negro
people via peaceful means, but he was able to identify moral, legal and ethical cause to promote his
quest to put a stop to what he identified as the most thoroughly segregated city in the United States
(King, 2017, p, 3). I will provide a summary that will show what Martin Luther King believed were
the cause of the injustice that he was striving to end to as well as his concern over the white
community s ability to make the Negro wait for more than three hundred and forty years for our

Islam, a monotheistic and spiritually based religion which refers to the act of giving great reverence to

During the first half of the twentieth century, Islam spread in colonial West Africa due to increased

introduced cash crop cultivation which resulted into spreading out of their enterprises into new regions

Changes due to the aging process also need to be addressed. Calcium reabsorption increases especially
in women after the menopause, this decreases bone density. Lean tissue decreases as fat increases with
age; there is also a decline in the percentage of body water meaning that body temperature is more
difficult to control. Thirst decline and decreased renal function means that older people can become
dehydrated (Copeman 1999). The function of the bowel reduces, meaning that the elderly are more
susceptible to indigestion and constipation. The risk of constipation is also increased with Parkinson s
disease (Parkinson s UK 2011). The final consideration is the deterioration of the sensory system.
Taste, smell, vison, pain and touch all decline meaning that food may not be as appealing (Copeman

help address the economic and social needs of society, it has invested in a long term and in demand
project. When one thinks of low income housing, one tends to think of section 8 and automatically
invasions crime, unsanitary living conditions, and an overcrowded and loud environment. Why is this
the natural assumption and vision one gets? The answer is because for many years low income
housing has brought forth residents with high stress and desperate character. Communities with higher
morale and fatter wallets reject the opportunity for low income families to live amongst there
neighborhood, forcing low income development to be consistently established in the less desirable and
high crime rate areas. What if we could hide/blend low income housing amongst a desirable

Deafness And Other Communication Disorders Essay
According to the National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders (NIDCD),
approximately 2 to 3 out of every 1,000 children in the United States are born with hearing loss in one
or both ears. (Quick Statistics About Hearing, 2016) Children who have impaired hearing face a
unique set of challenges, and as with many disabilities, early intervention is vital to their success both
academically and socially.
There are a few different categories of hearing loss in young children. Damage or obstruction to the
outer or middle ear results in conductive hearing loss. This damage is usually treatable but can have an
effect upon speech development. However, if the cause of the damage is dealt with medically, any
speech problems can typically be rectified by the time the child reaches school age. Another kind of
hearing loss is called sensorineural hearing loss, and is caused by damage or trauma to the auditory
nerve or the cochlea. This kind of hearing loss is usually permanent. Hearing loss also spans a range
from mild to profound, with the most severe resulting in deafness. Deafness is defined as a condition
in which a person cannot process language and speech aurally, and typically rely upon visual means
for communication. People who experience less profound hearing loss are termed to be hard of
hearing and can often process language to some extent, often with tools such as hearing aids or
cochlear implants. (Hunt, 2012, pp. 374 377)

The Outcome Of Two Major Railroad Strikes
Identify and describe the outcome of two major Railroad Strikes. The two major Railroad Strikes were
the Great Railroad Strike of 1877 and Railroad Shop workers Strike of 1922. The Great Railroad
Strike of 1877, was due to workers not being happy about the pay cuts that were being made by their
employer so often. Northern Railroads began cutting salaries and wages. Because of various railroads
cutting wages by 10% back to back, workers were not willing to continue working under those
conditions. Not only were the wages of the workers being cut, the amount work of work given to the
employees increased and the employer did not hire additional workers. This then caused railroad
employees to respond by taking control of the rail yard switches, and blocking movement of trains.
Throughout various cities such as Baltimore, Pittsburg, St. Louise, and Chicago, Violent acts began to
occur. Many people died throughout the cities. The strike cause the country s commerce to become
paralyzed and pushed governors in different states to utilize militia members to reopen rail traffic.
This action also helped set the stage for violence that would occur later in the 1880s and 1890s. The
Railroad Shop Workers Strike of 1922 affected everyone in the country. This strike occurred because
of the pay cut of seven cents to the wages of the railroad workers. Approximately 400,000 rail shop
workers from various unions were on strike because the cut was announced by the railroad labor
board. When

The punk music was at that time about the community and politics. Some punk bands like Rites of
Spring in 1984 began to sing about more emotions like ro mance, nostalgia and depression. The new
subgenre of music got the name emotional hardcore, emocore, later shortened to emo. A lot of other
bands followed in their footsteps. Bands like the Swing Kids from southern California developed their
own more aggressive and chaotic version emocore, known as screamo.
Around the early 90 s, record labels began to see the possible success with emo music. With the
growing music scene, the music became trend.
In the late 90 s, record labels wanted to profit from the emo bands, but the bands usually broke up
before they got mainstream. In 1997, Jimmy Eat World who was an unsigned band, got discovered
and signed and was one of the first emo bands to go mainstream.
As the emo music became mainstream, other bands picked up some of the sounds from the early emo
bands and the emo sound changed. The new sound was softer, but it is what we know as emo today.
Bands like My Chemical Romance, Fall Out Boy and Panic! At The Disco are great examples of what

  • 3. Lifetime Bans Should Be Utilized in the NHL For any professional athlete, there is a natural assumption of risk to one s physical well being. Players are constantly honing their bodies in the weight room not just to become faster and stronger than their competition, but also to protect against the injuries that can ruin a season (Barrabi). The National Hockey League (NHL) was one of the last professional sports organizations to issue sanctions against players who cause concussions and head injuries. Just in the past season alone, there have been a total of 44 suspensions in the NHL (TSN.com). Many of these suspensions were assessed due to dangerous, and sometimes intentional, behavior. To many people, these 44 suspensions occurring in the past season may seem too excessive; compared to 2004, it is. However, the frequency of behavior resulting in suspensions has increased over the past several years due to rule changes and a new disciplinary council assessing said suspensions. Despite the change in rules, some still intentionally commit acts of violence against opposing players. These players defense is that they are trying to preserve the tradition and respect of the game by humbling new, arrogant players who unnecessarily show off or target star players (Jones). Although preserving this tradition is expected and necessary due to the violent nature of the game, many players let their tempers get out of control. Because of various injuries, especially head injuries, league officials should take a tougher ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

History Of The Assembly Line Because of the high rate at which an assembly line can produce goods, it helps the companies with them gain more control over the economy over the nation and drive out businesses that cannot afford an assembly line. Before the assembly line was introduced, each Model T cost about $850, but after the assembly line, it cost less than $300 (6 9). Henry Ford had always envisioned a car that could be bought by the average family (9 12). He wanted to become rich and knew that aiming to have every American as a potential consumer was the best way to do so (11). When his prices fell by that much, it opened the market to many more people, so the demand for a lower price car went up, and Ford was able to sell over 850,000 Model T cars in under ... • 6. Effects Of Beauty On The Labor Market Essay It has become increasing clear that beauty may play a role when it comes to social interactions involved in economic or political opportunities. Now, one may ask how beauty could possibly play a noticeable impact on situations concerning economic or political opportunities. Yet, it does. A laboratory experiment was conducted to fully study the impact of beauty premium , the positive association and relationship between attractiveness and wages, on economic success in the labor market. The experiment was conducted by Tatyana Deryugina, a professor of finance and her companions. Although illegal, labor market discrimination has occurred based on physical appearances and Tatyana wanted to test this notion. Deriving from this experiment, they were able to conclude that the beauty premium does indeed exist although only in certain circumstances. Only in tasks such as bargaining does beauty premium significantly show a positive correlation. In other tasks such as analysis or data entry, the notion of beauty premium does not exist. They state, we find that the beauty premium in bargaining completely vanishes in the second round of bidding when the task is repeated, which suggests that employers learn quickly that performance is uncorrelated with attractiveness (Deryugina 2015). The point is that physical beauty is what deceives the mind into thinking that the more attractive one is, the more competent they may be in performing and executing skills such as bargaining. ... • 7. Symbolism Of A Butterfly In The Holocaust The butterfly has become a symbol for the 1.5 million children murdered in the holocaust. During the holocaust many children were put into concentration camps, they knew they were going to die. They carved hundreds of butterflies with their nails or stones on the walls of the prisons. I believe these butterflies represented their souls. They had a meaning. The butterflies were supposedly a message of hope, that despite the fact that they would be dead before long, their souls would not die. Just like how a larva turns out into a butterfly an flies out of the cocoon, similar once they die, they would completely come out of their suffering and hardships and once again live life in peace and freedom. A butterfly is so awakening and charming which ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Inter Team Conflicts And Interpersonal Conflicts When a group of people is brought together to form a team it is inevitable that some type of conflict will arise. Every member of a team has value and each one must understand that a team without conflict is necessary to accomplish the goal at hand (Mosley, 2005). There are multiple things that can lead to conflicts and leaders must recognize these to have an effective team. As a result of this, the leader must take into account everyone s background and experience level as the team is formed. This paper will discuss the inter team conflicts, interpersonal conflicts, why policies are created and ways a leader can prevent conflicts from happening. Inter team Conflict Conflict in teams can have an adverse effect on a team s performance. As a leader, it is imperative to manage conflict and handle matters before they become unmanageable. Assessing and managing inter team conflicts before they arise is critical when stopping conflicts (Hoegl, Weinkauf Gemuenden, 2004). When conflict occurs, the trigger or event could be very minor and seem insignificant at the time. However, if the conflict is not resolved quickly, it could build up over time, creating a snowball effect. After this happens, it s a matter of time before the conflict reaches a tipping point and emotions flare up. Conflict can result from a variety of events or situations. These could arise as a result of misinformation, a misunderstanding between team members, or a lack of clear and concise ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Grit By Angela Angele Duckworth Analysis Being Grit and Growth Mindset is the Key to Success Angela Lee Duckworth states: Grit is related because part of what it meant to be gritty is to be resilient in the face of failure or adversity. • 10. Martin Luther And The Protestant Reformation In the early days of November 10, 1483, Martin Luther was born in Eisleben, Saxony, in modern southeast Germany and it was an extremely tense world. But on the other hand great changes were waiting around the corner, and Luther too, would take a part in these changes. On October 31, 1517, Martin Luther, angry with Pope Leo X s new round of indulgences to help build St. Peter s Basilica, nailed a sheet of paper with his 95 Theses on the University of Wittenberg s chapel door. Martin Luther was a German monk who began the Protestant Reformation in the 16th century, becoming one of the most influential and controversial figures in Christian history. Luther called into question some of the basic tenets of Roman Catholicism, and his followers soon split from the Roman Catholic Church to begin the Protestant tradition. The first few years of monastic life were difficult for Martin Luther, as he did not find the religious enlightenment he was seeking. A mentor told him to focus his life exclusively on Christ and this would later provide him with the guidance he sought. At age 27, Luther was given the opportunity to be a delegate to a Catholic church conference in Rome. He came away more disillusioned, and very discouraged by the immorality and corruption he witnessed there among the Catholic priests. Upon his return to Germany, he enrolled in the University of Wittenberg in an attempt to suppress his spiritual turmoil. He excelled in his studies and received a doctorate, ... • 11. Joy Luck Club Character Analysis No one is the same everyone is a different person and while people may have similarities they are still different people with different ideas and thoughts and outlooks on life even mothers and daughters. Such as the daughters and mothers in the book, The Joy Luck Club. For starters, a young girl named June and her mother Suyuan Woo were both alike in one common idea that they had completely different views on everything even in speaking as she states, these kinds of explanations made me feel my mother and I spoke two different languages, which we did. I talked to her in english, she answered back in chinese. (Joy Luck, Tan,34) In saying this June tells metaphorically that they don t speak the same language as in her mother and her never really seen things in the same light and literally as she does not speak her mother s tongue. Even when they relate physically the mother relays to her daughter that she is a foreigner to her and her past as the story goes, A friend once told me that my mother and i were alike, that we had the same wispy hand gestures, same girlish laugh and sideways look. When I shyly told my mother this, she seemed insulted and said, you don t even know little percent of me how can you be me. (Joy Luck,Tan,27) This shows that while the daughter was trying to relate to the mother by telling of her friends thoughts of their physical similarities she dismisses these and says that her own daughter does not know her as a person. • 12. Essay about Criminal Evidence Evidence is the key element in determining the guilt or innocence of those accused of crimes against society in a criminal court of law. Evidence can come in the form of weapons, documents, pictures, tape recordings and DNA. According to the American Heritage College dictionary, evidence is the documentary or oral statements and the material objects admissible as testimony in a court of law (476). It is shown in court as an item of proof, to impeach or rehabilitate a witness, and to determine a sentence. This paper will examine two murder cases, O.J. Simpson and Daniel Taylor. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The police investigations uncovered more evidences to link Simpson to the murders. Their testimonies showed that Simpson had actually planned the crime. He had an alibi but it was shaky. Simpson s history of spousal abuse gave the prosecutors was a blow to his case too. All the evidences pointed unfavorably toward O. J. Simpson Despite all this evidence, the jury found O.J. not guilty. The LAPD made some mistakes, which allowed the defense to attack the creditability of the police. O.J. s defense, called quot; The Dream Team, quot; took advantage of the prosecutions and the officers incompetence and created reasonable doubt in the jurors minds (CNN). The officers duties included making sure that no unauthorized people may enter the scene. They had allowed unauthorized officers the go through the scene, thus causing some contamination to the crime scene. By all accounts, the prosecution did a poor job presenting the evidence and the officers did not do a very good job at securing the scene On the other hand, the case of Daniel Taylor, who was convicted of murdering two people also, had a solid Alibi with paperwork and witnesses to support his alibi it seemed almost impossible for the jury to find him guilty. But on December morning in 1992, 17 year old gang member, Daniel, confessed to a double murder committed two weeks earlier in the Uptown neighborhood. (Chicago Tribune) . • 14. Successful Reader Learning to read is a complex task which involves more than just decoding the print on the page. The goal of reading is to construct meaning from the text (Winch, 2014). While the teaching of decoding skills is an extremely important step in the reading process, simply having the skills of decoding is not enough to become a successful reader. For this reason, the key elements of the reading process will be discussed in an order which allows children to develop the building blocks necessary to become a successful reader. Systematic and explicit reading instruction is vital for reading development as it allows children to build on the previously acquired skills and strategies required to become a successful reader. The purpose of this essay is to explain why having a concept of print, phonemic awareness, phonics and comprehension are important to the reading process and how effective teachers teach these skills. It is clear that reading development begins with children understanding that print carries the message and, as a result, this creates the motivation to read. Reading development then progresses to the development of phonemic awareness which lays the foundation for phonics instruction. Once the skills of decoding are learnt, children can then start to combine these skills with comprehension strategies to make meaning of what is read. These skills and strategies do not come naturally to children, therefore, effective teachers provide rich learning experiences which model, scaffold and allow children to apply what they have learnt to authentic ... The implementation of the integrated aquasnap, will increase at a slightly greater rate each year, and will allow Carrier to earn about $8.6 million dollars more in 2002 alone, and $22.5 million more from 1997 to 2002. Also mass production will lower the overall cost of manufacturing due to various factors (i.e. cost of materials, number of parts, number of operations, assembly time, assembly cost, selling price, and overall price will all be reduced). The share projections are a steady 14% until 1998. If the delay bleeds into 1999 the overall loss on that entire year would be $6.8 million, but the overall market share would still increase $15.7 million through 2002. Scenarios similar to Aquasnap can be found in gaming consoles. The integration of the DVD to the PS2 game console allowed Sony to set itself apart from Nintendo, making it the highest selling game console ever. The PS2 saved the customer space, time, and money by not having to buy a dvd player. Even though the PS2 was $100 more than the Nintendo N64, it dominated the market because of simplicity and convenience (Playstation website). The Conservative Heart Analysis Arthur Brooks book The Conservative Heart How to Build a Fairer, Happier and More Prosperous America represents a challenge to the established view of Conservatives and Republicans regarding America s social issues. Many Americans feel caught between two dispiriting political choices: ineffective compassion on one hand and heartless pragmatism on the other. While Democrats/Progressives have always provided this ongoing narrative of party who were once the champions of the underprivileged; collapsed in the 2016 elections. The Progressive message was clearly understood as identity politics not the champions of the underdog as promised. • 20. The Causal Agent Of Cypress Tree Introduction Seiridium cardinale (Wagener) Sutton et Gibson has been wrecking havoc on populations of cypress (particularly Cupressus macrocarpa and C. sempervirens) since its discovery in California in 1927 and its spread to Europe shortly thereafter (Raddi and Panconesi 1981; Wagener 1928). In the 1920 s, disease symptoms in C. macrocarpa were originally attributed to insects (Wagener 1928). Wagener officially identified the causal agent as Coryneum cardinale in 1939, though Sutton and Gibson later renamed the fungus to its current taxonomical standing. The causal agent of cypress canker has now been identified as three phenotypically similar, yet genetically distinct Seiridium species (Barnes et al. 2001; Graniti 1998; Tsopelas et ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 2001). Of the three, S. cardinale is the most pathogenic, producing the most seiridins (fungal metabolites that are toxic to trees), and is most commonly associated with cypress canker in the literature (for this reason I will focus on S. cardinale during the remainder of this review) (Graniti 1998). S. cardinale is an imperfect, thermophilic Ascomycete, forming irregular, scattered or clustered, blackish pustules (acervuli) that can be partially immersed or erumpent on the dead bark of cankers on cypress twigs, branches, and stems (Graniti 1998; Raddi and Panconesi 1981; Wagener 1928, 1939). Oblong fuscid and septate conidia are borne on simple or branched conidiophores and are readily dispersed by rain, wind, insects, and birds under conducive climatic conditions (high relative humidity with alternating periods of hot and humid with dry and windy) during the spring and autumn (Graniti 1998; Raddi and Panconesi 1981; Wagener 1939; Zocca et al. 2008). The pathogen can remain dormant, without losing pathogenicity, during non conducive conditions within the outer bark as mycelium or chlamidospores (Graniti 1998; Raddi and Panconesi 1981). Symptomology The first and most notable symptom of infection on susceptible cypress occurs as irregular patches of crown chlorosis and death, particularly on small and young branches (Granti 1998; Raddi and Panconesi 1981; Wagener 1928, 1939). The concept of legislative efficiency is defined as the extent to which legislature exhibits the characteristic of organization and competency and is measured by comparing the trustworthiness, and political efficacy of a country. Efficiency is a fundamental element to results in life. Organizations and processes need to optimize their solutions, in comparison to the problems they are confronted with, so that they can continue to be competitive, and trusted in the world we observe. Legislatures are no exception to that statement, however, while they strive to be efficient and effective, they must also look out for the values of their country or communities, and interest of their people. Deafness And Other Communication Disorders Essay According to the National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders (NIDCD), approximately 2 to 3 out of every 1,000 children in the United States are born with hearing loss in one or both ears. (Quick Statistics About Hearing, 2016) Children who have impaired hearing face a unique set of challenges, and as with many disabilities, early intervention is vital to their success both academically and socially. Another kind of hearing loss is called sensorineural hearing loss, and is caused by damage or trauma to the auditory nerve or the cochlea. This kind of hearing loss is usually permanent. Hearing loss also spans a range from mild to profound, with the most severe resulting in deafness. Deafness is defined as a condition in which a person cannot process language and speech aurally, and typically rely upon visual means for communication. People who experience less profound hearing loss are termed to be hard of hearing and can often process language to some extent, often with tools such as hearing aids or cochlear implants.
