Essay about Sundiata
If you want a taste of West African History Sundiata will give you exactly what you want and more.
Sundiata was an interesting piece of literature to read. Unlike the previous two books we have read
this semester I found this book much more simple. This book was much easier for me to comprehend
and actually get into. This book exposed me not only to the West African history, but also a new
religion. The story of Sundiata depicts the story of the foundation of the Mali Empire in West Africa.
This story takes place during a transitional time period, when the trade network that linked towns and
villages across western Africa attracted north African merchants who brought increasing Muslim
influence. The Mali Empire was one of the great ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He gives special attention to Lahilatoul Kalabi, the first black prince to make the Pilgrimage to Mecca.
On his return trek, he was robbed by brigands, and his entourage split. Allah saved his life and made
him a king once he returned to Mali after seven years of wandering. They state, After seven years
absence Lahilatoul was able to return, by the grace of Allah the Almighty (Sundiata, 2). Another
important role in this epic was the importance of long distance trade. After the exile of Sundiata it
gives him a chance to learn about the trade routes and people of his region. An example of this long
distance trade was in the chapter of The Baobab Leaves. Sundiata s sister, Kolonkan, now of a
marriageable age took on the role in society as a woman. She was at the market she noticed a woman
who was offering for sale nofiola, and gnougou, condiments unknown to the people of Mema
(Sundiata, 43). She recognized the baobob leaves and many other vegetables which her mother used to
grow in her garden at Niani. The merchant questions Kolonkan on how she knows about the baobab
leaves, due to her offering at the market in Mema for days, but no one wanting them. While over
hearing the conversation a man draws near offering the princess a cola. We are merchants and we
going from town to town (Sundiata, 44). The details of trade in this chapter greatly illustrate the
existence of trade in the West African

Auditing Ethics
Koger Properties, Inc.
1.)
The SEC has a strong case against Goodbread for violating his independence because as it is stated on
the AICPA s website, Independence shall be considered to be impaired if: During the period of the
professional engagement a covered member was committed to acquire any direct or material indirect
financial interest in the client. (aicpa.org 101 1). In Goodbread s case this refers to the fact that he had
shares of stock (direct financial interest) in his possession when he was the audit engagement partner
who oversaw the audit of Koger Properties, Inc.

Parliament may have seen an opportunity for auditors to cook the books, which would cause those
companies to pay more taxes. During the 19th century you had the rise of the United States, and Great
Britain did not want to look weaker than the US. If companies were paying more money in taxes, then
Great Britain would be a stronger nation compared to the newly founded United States of America. If
the auditors of today followed the same rules they did in Great Britain during the 19th century, then
America would be in trouble. With such a competitive and strong capitalistic market, it would be hard
to not be tempted to alter the financial statements of publically traded companies if there were no
independence standards. Today s business world obviously holds independence of auditors to be
important or else Michael Goodbread would have never been investigated by the SEC. If
independence was not viewed as an important issue in the field of auditing then there would not be
rules and regulations strictly forbidding it. With the scandals of Enron, WorldCom, Deloitte and
Touche, and others it is apparent that not all auditors act in an ethical manner. With the SEC and other
organizations cracking down on these issues it will hopefully clean up the image of auditing in the
future.

Amnesty To Illegal Immigrants Essay
U.S. government should not grant amnesty to illegal immigrants. When the government grant amnesty
to unauthorized immigrants, people who cross the U.S. border illegally would get legal status. As the
population of unauthorized immigrants increased and consequences of granting amnesty were shown,
questions about whether or not unauthorized immigrants should stay in the United States became
controversial. Although some people argue that illegal immigrants pay taxes and work hard, they are
actually harming our society politically and economically. For example, they abuse America public
services such as education and health care system, create heavy burdens for US taxpayers by receiving
more benefits than paying taxes, contribute to crime rates, and take jobs from legal citizens.
In 1986, president Ronald Reagan passed The Immigration Reform and Control Act, ... Show more

The number of undocumented immigrants has exploded from 5 million in 1986 to more than 11
million today (Heubusch, John. What Reagan would do about Immigration. , sks.sirs.com) .
In other words, granting amnesty to illegal immigrants actually stimulate more people to enter our
state illegally. As a result, amnesty should not be granted to undocumented immigrants since it will
not help to reduce population nor do any good for the country.
Amnesty should not be granted to unauthorized immigrants due to its negative impacts to our society.
First, when people look back at the history of undocumented immigrants, they will discover that
passing amnesty will cause more people to come to the country illegally. Second, immigrants are tax
consumers, they created heavy burden for U.S. taxpayers. Third, immigrants take jobs from and lower
the wages of U.S. workers. Lastly, they were contributing to the country s crime rate. All these reasons
can prove that granting amnesty is detrimental to the country and there is no point for the government
to enact

Martin Luther King Influence
Martin Luther King Influence and Power
In the great country of America; America is who it is today because of the men and woman who were
great leaders that were able to influence people. Martin Luther King Jr. is one of those great leaders
that has changed America for the better because he had a dream. He was a black baptist minister who
was a spokesperson against segregation and led peaceful protests. In the 2014 movie Selma, the film
shows how Mr. King led the 1965 Selma to Montgomery voting rights marches and the events leading
up to it. Mr. King was a remarkable leader because he could motivate people to join him in the protest
against segregation and influence America to change.
Martin Luther King used many different methods and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mr. King spoke at the church in Selma to inspire the people to not stand back and not do anything
anymore. In his speeches he used inspirational appeal, which is when a leader spur emotions in the
follower s sense of justice or loyalty to the organization. In Mr. Kings first speech in Selma he brings
up how the 4 girls were unjustly murdered in their own church and that only 2% of the black
population in Selma had the right to vote. He said, those that have gone on before us say no more, that
means protest, that means march, that means disturb the peace, that means jail and that is hard . By the
end of his speech the congregation was on their feet applauding and chanting give us the vote.
Because Mr. King used inspirational appeal and brought up the injustice that was happening the
people were willing to protest and march. If Mr. King started off with that they were going to march
and protect for first the people wouldn t have reacted the same way.
Mr. King was very well liked and respected by the black community because he was protesting against
segregation. Because he was so well known everywhere Mr. King went and he showed referent power
because the people wanted to meet him and shake his hand. Referent power is when followers want to
be like or closely associated with the leader. The followers want to develop a personal relationship
with the leader. Everyone in the black community looked up to Martin Luther King and was willing to
do whatever he asked

An Example Of Sociological Imagination
Sociological imagination basically opens your eyes to see the bigger picture towards different issues
in our society. Rather than make accusation or excuses for why someone has lost their job you realize
that it was not something personal. We allow ourselves to see how everyone in our community is
affected with the same issue and not just single out someone. Allowing yourself to take a step back
and really looks at the situation as a whole, gives you a chance to see all of the different issues and
how to better solve them. An example of sociological perspective is when someone who is in need of a
different job, but refuses to leave and look for another. To some people it might look like laziness or
even judge them as far as telling them they

Ostinato Scene Analysis

Part I:
Musical texture built from ostinati (short, repeated patterns)
There are several points that ostinato has been used in the film, and starting from (00:10:56), which is
the scene when Marion is packing her luggage. There are strings playing the upper linear line in high
register, and there are also strings playing in the middle register and low register in order to create
those different layers of voicing. The scene followed this one, which starts around (00:13:02) also use
ostinato at the beginning part of this scene. This scene is about when Marion drives her car on the
street, she meets her boss. This time, the dynamics keeps crescendo comparing to the last scene, ...

As I have discussed a little bit earlier that the instrumentation for this music scores, unlike traditional
orchestra music, it mostly uses strings. Even though there are no brasses and percussions (usually play
the lower register and bass melody) in the film, I think Bernard Herrmann used the strings in a way
that they are the whole orchestra. He used the double basses and cellos to play out the bottom line of
melody and the violins and violas to play the upper melody. He is using the string ensemble but
creates the sounding effect of a whole orchestra. As we discussed during class last week that most
composers back into that time prefer to use more neo romantic style music; however, this music score
definitely has nothing relate to romantic style. It is dissonant as I said before, and creates lots of
tensions but it does not resolve, and I feel like that is one big thing that makes it different from
classical music, and obviously, it applies many uses of atonality. Even at the beginning scene
(00:06:02) that when Marion spends her lunchtime with Sam, the music at there is not like typical love
theme music. People usually relate strings with love theme; however, I feel like the strings playing at
this scene do not tightly apply to the romance element in the film. Comparing to the music that
happens later, this one is not that dissonant, it is still unresolved at the

Myth Of The Good Guy With A Gun Analysis
Both texts suggest that the increase of gun population leads to a violent result. Although, both consider
the same outcomes, the Blood Drive is more effective in the thought of violence, rather than helping
keep people safe. The Myth of the Good Guy with a Gun is a good source of information, using logos
as its type of persuasion, the evidence/examples are statistics and numbers that express the idea that
guns aren t used for good. The Blood Drive uses pathos, a persuasion that emphasises the emotion of
the audience. In this case, logos is a better expression for this topic because the question is asking for
an increase in population of violence, a number. Although logos is more appropriate for this topic, The

Similarities And Differences In Ancient Greece
In this essay two Ancient Greek city states (polies) will be compared and contrasted showing how
despite their differences, they both rose to become predominating powers. Ancient Greece consisted of
many small city states, two of which were Athens and Sparta. Athens was considered the center of fine
arts, music, and educational opportunities. Sparta was known for its outstanding military strength and
tactical abilities at war. Life for a Spartiate was comprised of constant training and conditioning for
war, while an Athenian citizen would spend much of their day pursuing what they wished. Although
these two city states were substantially different, they both rose to become the two most predominant
powers in Ancient Greece.
There were several advantages and disadvantages to each of these two polies. Their societal structures
were relatively similar, and their governments were exact opposites. Athens was a very artistic and
philosophical city state while Spartan culture revolved more around the training of men for war and
stability of the government. Spartans valued organization and stability, while Athenians comparatively
valued freedom of choice. There were also huge gender biases between the two polies, and through all
of this, traditions and beliefs have been passed down to our generations today, helping to shape the
world we live in.
To begin with the simplest societal structure of these two poleis. Spartan society was divided into
three main classes. At the top was

Preparing exit strategies now, not only for fiscal stimulus, but also for government support for the
financial sector and hard hit industries, will enhance the effectiveness of these measures in the short
term, as this depends upon clarity regarding the pace with which such measures will be withdrawn.
Since financial markets, businesses and consumers are forward looking, expectations are factored into
decision making today. The precise timing of exit strategies will depend on the strength of the
recovery, the exposure of Member States to the crisis and prevailing internal and external imbalances.
Part of the fiscal stimulus stemming from the EERP will taper off in 2011, but needs to be followed up
by sizeable fiscal consolidation in following years to reverse the unsustainable debt build up. In the
financial sector, government guarantees and holdings in financial institutions will need to be gradually
unwound as the private sector gains strength, while carefully balancing financial stability with
competitiveness considerations. Close coordination will be important. Vertical coordination between
the various strands of economic policy (fiscal, structural, financial) will ensure that the withdrawal of
government measures is properly sequenced an important consideration as turning points may differ
across policy areas.

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Glulam
Advantages of Glued Laminate Timber Glue Laminated Timber, cracking takes a significantly lesser
amount than in solid wood. Thus, laminated beams are ideal for noticeable roof structures in
residential or other purposes, in which the inevitable cracking of solid wood is unwanted. It is also
locally accessible environmentally sustainable material. The first and most obvious benefit of Glulam
is that its main factor, timber, grows out of the ground and does not need to be mined and exposed to
the high energy demand manufacturing procedures that steel and cement require It has a flexibility of
shape and size. The lamination procedure is integrally elastic and it can produce Glulam in sizes
reaching from 45mm x 45mm up to 250mm x 1800mm x 30m long. Glulam is made using European
mechanical presses which can be decided to make custom and often multifaceted curved shapes. The
look of Glulam is often chosen over steel or concrete for its look, and is often recognized with creating
a warm and comfortable feel to a building. There are many ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The procedure of glue laminating timber eliminates the natural performance variations that
characterize solid sawn timber. As Glulam beams are engineered wood products that are manufactured
to meet specific performance criteria, the specified and user can be assured that Glulam products will
consistently perform as expected. Glulam is one of material which have fire resistance. Large section
timber elements actually perform very well in fires. This is due to the way in which timber chars at a
known amount and does not deform like steel. Fire performance of Glulam has been the subject of
extensive research and structural Glulam members can be designed to last certain out of date of time

Falling For Distractions In The Odyssey
Students all over the nation are currently studying for the SATs hoping for that perfect 1600. However,
many of these students often get thrown off task by tweets, snaps, and other distractions; these small
temptations may not seem like much in the moment, but we realize the true effects of them after we

for distractions, we cannot resist the gravitational pull of our smartphone devices. In Homer s epic

Explain The Stages Of Inflammation
Chapter Four: Stages of Inflammation
Inflammation is the body s natural response to injury. An injury to soft tissue can arise from numerous
sources. Physical traumas such as sprain, strain or contusion are the most common. However, there
could also be injuries from viral or bacterial infection, chemical, or heat injury. Trauma can cause
direct damage to cells that are in the immediate area of injury, causing bleeding. From there, the
bleeding causes a line of events in the inflammatory process that promote healing the injuries tissue.
Stage 1: The Inflammatory Response
Healing of the acute injuries starts with the acute vascular inflammatory response. The purpose of
those vascular changes is to increase the blood flow to the area, mobilize

Serial Killers On Death Row
Capital punishment aims to avoid injustice and crime rates, as it now verified to be legal and
constitutional. This method can help save lives, especially because of serial killers on death row. Serial
killers slaughter many people, as they would kill innocent people on the streets. A prime example is
Ted Bundy. According to his lawyer, Bundy killed over a hundred people and most of them were
women who he also sexually assaulted. He was also extremely intelligent, as he escaped from the jail
cells in both Utah and Colorado. Therefore, for somebody like him, a life sentence may not work
because he was able to charm the workers. With his charm and personality, he received many
privileges, such as library access. He also seemed to show no remorse, because he openly denied
killing innocent bystanders until the night before his execution. Therefore, for somebody like him;
whom the public somehow obsessed over, was aware of his horrid actions, and knew how to escape
jail; a life in prison would not have succeeded. He was executed and this may have saved many lives
of women because there is no longer the possibly of him escaping jail for a third time. In addition,
criminologists have longed studied that statistics of the effects on crime rates. Ernest van den Haag, a
professor at Fordham University, wrote, Even though statistical demonstrations are not conclusive,
and perhaps cannot be, capital punishment is likely to deter more than other punishments because
people fear death

Overview of Variant Creutzfeldt Jakob Disease
Variant Creutzfeldt Jakob disease (vCJD) Variant Creutzfeldt Jakob disease (vCJD) is a rare and fatal
human neurodegenerative condition falling under the category of Transmissible Spongiform
Encephalopathy (TSE) because of having characteristic of spongy degeneration of the brain that it
causes and its ability to be transmitted. First it was described in the United Kingdom in March 1996
and it has been connected with exposure to a TSE of cattle known as Bovine Spongiform
Encephalopathy (BSE) sometimes called Classical BSE, having been reported first in 1986 in the
United Kingdom. Prior to identification of vCJD, the widely known human TSE, Creutzfeldt Jakob
disease (CJD), had been thought to have only three forms of existence, (National Institute of
Neurological Disorders and Stroke, 2012). The first form was Iatrogenic CJD, caused by accidental
transmission by contaminated surgical equipment or the administration of human deprived pituitary
growth hormones or from corneal or meningeal (dura mater) though this always account for less than
5% cases of CJD. The second form is familial CJD, which has been linked with gene mutation, though
as well form still smaller percentage of 5 15% cases of CJD. The last form is sporadic CJD, which has
been identified to be occurring all over the world at the rate of one per million people, and has the
highest number of CJD cases falling under the range of 85%. Contrary to the traditional forms of CJD,

The Jungle Book Analysis
Look for the bare necessities the simple bare necessities, forget about your worries and your strife...
(The Bare Necessities, Bill Murray and Neel Sethi)
Sounds familiar? It s the song The Bare Necessities from The Jungle Book. The Jungle Book (2016) is
about Mowgli, a young boy who was raised by a family of wolves since he was born. Mowgli must
leave the jungle his only home, when a vicious tiger Shere Khan wants him dead. Accompanied by a
wise panther Bagheera and a free spirited bear Baloo, the journey to a new home begins. Along the
way, Mowgli meets a variety of jungle animals that teach him important life lessons. The Jungle Book
uses the male bonding and animal archetypes to support and reject the male gender myth by
presenting Mowgli learning important life lessons from the animals and his journey of self discovery
that leads to a wild adventure.
An archetype is a pattern or character types that films used repeatedly to deliver a subconscious
message. The Jungle Book has two main archetypes of animal and male bonding. Although The
Jungle Book uses all the jungle animals, the animal archetype is seen through and mainly focuses on
the wolves (Akela and Raksha), the panther (Bagheera), the bear (Baloo), the tiger (Shere Khan) and
the Gigantopithecus (King Louie). In Creating the Myth , Seger states, Many myths contain animal
archetypes that can be positive or negative figures (393). In the film, one will see Akela, Bagheera and
Baloo as positive figures/animals who protect and want the best for Mowgli. Shere Khan is the
negative figure/animal who is seeking revenge on Mowgli. The male bonding archetype can be seen
through Mowgli bonding with Bagheera, Baloo and Akela as they teach him important life lessons
throughout the film.
Cultural myths (mythologies) are a set of stories and beliefs that characterizes a culture. For example,
the male gender myth is defined by the American culture as a man who is physically/mentally strong,
powerful, protector, provider/head of the household, educated, independent, confident, and
responsible. The Jungle Book shows the male gender myth by having much of male jungle animals
than female. The characters that support the male gender myth are Akela, Bagheera, Shere

Who Is Winston Smith A Hero
The journey of a hero usually begins with downfall and ends with success. However, with Winston it
is the other way around, his journey starts at success and ends with downfall. But that shouldn t
unqualify him from being a hero. Winston Smith is the hero of the novel because he shows courage,
and has a strong mentality and he continuously looks past limitations. He basically was willing to do
anything for what he believed in, an example of this could be when he made a promise to O Brien
saying that he was going to do anything for the brotherhood even if it meant he had to hurt children.
Winston could not defeat the Party, however he makes small acts which rebel against the party and by
doing this he is trying to be a leader to show the other members of the party that something needs to
be done. He still proves that he is a questing hero through his courage, strong mentality and his ability
to look past his limitations.
Even though Winston did do some bad like telling setting the rats on Julia because of his fear and
suddenly loving Big Brother at the end, which most people consider hypocritical. But why not look at
the positive? He repeatedly wrote down with Big Brother , and he went about his love affair with Julia
which by the way he barely knew. He tries and see the party for what it is, and of course it certainly
wasn t any good, he thinks very much and philosophies a lot, but that certainly does not make his live
better. He s a hero because he cares about the people who he sees around him, and he tries to help
them in the best way he can considering the fact that his health isn t so good. Just imagine what he
was going through it must ve been extremely hard to mentally be going against something or someone
when everyone else who surrounds supports them or the ideas that they represent.
A quote where Winston shows courage is The first step had been a secret, involuntary thought; the
second had been opening that diary. He had moved from thoughts to words, and now from words to
actions . He had the courage to attempt a dangerous path but it was unintentional. A quote where he
shows that he has a strong mentality is; I think I exist, he said wearily. I am conscious of my own
identity. I was

Essay about J. Alfred Prufrock
J. Alfred Prufrock is He Gay When we read T. S. Eliot s The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock you
almost get the feeling that Prufrock is gay. In fact, when the story is read a bit more in depth you can
conclude that he is gay.
The first flag that is raised to our attention of prufrock being gay is the fact that not once do we hear
the name of his so called lover or even him calling her a lady. Therefore we might be able to conclude
that this lady is in fact a guy. This would in turn bring up many situations in the story that are not
brought to light if this story was read in different text.
Prufrock is very insecure about himself. This is especially seen in the first ten lines. He is insecure

He wants to murder the mask that he is wearing. He wants to come out and then recreate himself.
However, when the first realization of his homosexuality comes to mind Prufrock starts second
guessing himself. In lines thirty one through thirty four we see this in decisiveness. Prufrock then
starts thinking of his appearance if he were to let this be known. He thinks about how his perfect
world is not ready for a idea of this magnitude to come forth. Prufrock knows that if his
homosexuality was to be known, the perfect universe that he knows would the destroyed.
At first glance lines forty nine through sixty one seem to be about him wanting death. This, however,
is not the case. Furthermore, we see him asking himself what he should do if he does come out and tell
people of his sexuality. He is weighing the possibilities and the reprocutions of his decision. He
finnaly comes to the conclusion that evrything is alright now and he does not want to disturb this
peacfulness. Line eighty seven clearly tells us that he did not come out. Yet he is also second guessing
his decision. No, he tells himself, it would not have been worth his own morality to ruin everyones
perfect picture of himself. Prufrock would miss the boring events, or would he?
In truth, we find that Prufrock would have rather told the truth about his homosexuality. But, we find
that he is insecure about himself. With his lack of insecurity

paper is the study of the consequences of performing local PWHT and considerations that need to be
taken when determining what type of stress relieving is to be performed to meet code requirements.
Post weld heat treatment is an effective way to minimize weld residual stresses in pressure vessels and
piping equipment. PWHT is a required for carbon steels above a code defined thickness threshold and
other lo allow steels to mitigate the propensity for crack initiation and ultimately, brittle fracture, and
is often employed to mitigate stress corrosion cracking due to environmental conditions. Performing
local PWHT following component repairs or alterations is often more practical and cost effective than
heat treating an entire vessel or a large portion of the pressure boundary. Spot or bulls eye
configurations are often employed in industry to perform PWHT following local weld repairs to
regions of the pressure boundary. Both the ASME Boiler and Pressure vessel code and the National
Board inspection code permit the use of local PWHT around nozzles or other pressure boundary
repairs or alterations. Additionally, welding research council bulletin 452 offers detailed guidance
relating to local PWHT and

Wizarding Vs Muggle Astronomy
Astronomy is, of course, the study of the universe. However, as broad range as that observation is, I
believe that Astronomy is, when it comes down to it, the study of what makes up the universe this
includes the planets, the stars, the galaxies, the Sun, the Moon, and everything else that the universe
encompasses.
The differences between Muggle Astronomy and Wizarding Astronomy are not as vast as one might
believe, but the differences do exist. Muggle Astronomy has been around for a relatively long time,
but so too has Wizarding Astronomy. However, Wizards have taken the advancements made by
Muggles without their knowledge, of course and used them to further the advancement of Astronomy
in the Wizarding world, and sometimes vice versa. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Owing to the fact that the rings reflect around 80% of the sunlight which hits them, it is believed by
astronomers that the rings are comprised of ice. An interesting thing to note is that these rings have an
atmosphere which is independent of Saturn s own atmosphere. The atmosphere comprised by the rings
is composed of oxygen and hydrogen gas, and which is created when light from the Sun interacts with
the ice particles.
Planet 7: Uranus
The seventh planet Uranus, is one of the Jovian planets and is classified both as a Gas Giant and as an
Ice Giant. Uranus is the Greek God of the Sky. An interesting feature of Uranus is that its axis of
rotation leans almost 90 degrees to one side, making it appear to be tipped over .
The orbital rotation of this planet is half of a Uranus year and as a result of its axis, the north pole will
point almost directly towards the sun. When the Uranus year is through, the south pole will take the
North pole s place, facing the Sun. A full rotation around the Sun is once every 17.2 hours, and in 84
Earth years equals one full year.

The Year For Medical Innovation
Introduction [1.0] The year 2016 is the year for medical innovation. It s when we push out cures for
diseases previously incurable, continue the fight with superbugs, and attempt to preserve public health
by means of vaccines and public sanitation. Whether it be an innovation that humans consume
directly, such as a medical drug, or a background implementation, such as public sanitation in public
spaces. The ultimate goal is to preserve the homo sapien species, and its health.
A new problem has arisen as the population grows, ironically, there has been a shortage in human
organs for those in need. This can be due to multiple reasons, including less people dying in a region
(to provide functional parts) and a healthier general population. ... Show more content on

The ambitious plan is to use printers to print out organs and eventually perform a transplant to replace
the patient s nonfunctional one, with a lab printed functional organ.
The Printing In order to understand 3D printing, you need to understand how generic multi
dimensional printing works. 3D Printing uses computer aided printing technology to deposit layers of
the material in specific location to form a three dimensional object. Traditional three dimensional
printing is expensive, but scientists plan on using inkjet based printers in bioprinting. These printers
are able to deposit tiny ink drops onto a surface upon demand using thermal inkjet technology. A small
air bubble is heated until it collapses, and the force from the collapse serves as a pulse that forces tiny
droplets of ink out of the nozzle. This allows for more precise printing. The temperatures during the
printing process can reach as high as 300 C, but the entire process is so instantaneous, that it only lasts
for a couple of microseconds. With this technology, living cells can be printed at the same time that
nutrients, drugs, and other important chemicals, as well as protective gels. [2.0] The actual process of
how printing works lies in three important factors, the printer, the ink, and the product. [2.1/2.1.1]

Analysis Of My Papa s Waltz
Due to Theodore Roethke s use of imagery, syntax, and diction, My Papa s Waltz continues to spur
passionate academic debate from professors, scholars, and students alike. Roethke uses these elements
to allow the reader to recognize that he is reminiscing the intricate relationship he and his father
shared. Although it is not essential, one could put the historical context into consideration. Evidently,
there will always be individuals that see only abuse or a fond memory; however, we will never clearly
know what his intention was in regards to the purpose of the poem. As a result, one must come to a
realization based on the author s use of diction, syntax, and imagery throughout the poem broken
down line by line; in order to fully ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Typically, when people see signs of abuse, they reach conclusions; especially, because the word
romped has a sexual connotation. To clarify, when the ...hung on like death: is mentioned, an image of
forceful physical contact comes to most readers minds. When slid from the kitchen shelf is mentioned
people immediately assume that he beat his son until the pans slid off the shelf. As for the positive, it
can be assumed that there was simply a father playing roughly with his son. Roethke mentions, My
mother s countenance/ could not unfrown itself. Could it be that his mother was upset that the father
played extremely rough that the pans slid or that she could not do anything about the fact that her son
was getting abused. Was there a possibility that she was getting abused too? The reader now begins to
ponder whether it is a fond memory, abuse, or both are present. Furthermore, the analysis of the third
stanza, relates to the fond memory. Roethke descriptively mentions, The hand that held my wrist/Was
battered on one knuckle; The battered knuckle can be a sign of the father s manual labor; on the
contrary, it can be the beating of his child leaving his hand injured. Even though, these two points can
be argued thoroughly, the following line, At every step you missed/My right ear scraped a buckle.
supports the idea that the child could have been playing

The Poor Corporate Culture At Lazier Industries
LAZIER INDUSTRIES August 2015 Shaun Branam Table of Contents Executive Summary 3
Introduction 4 Analysis 5 Conclusions and Recommendations 9 Bibliography 11 Executive Summary
The problem in the case is the poor corporate culture at Lazier Industries. Although the company is
performing well, there is dissent amongst managers, VP s and employees which is spreading rapidly.
The underlying issue is Bob Lazier who has not done a good job demonstrating his vision for the
company and implementing a corporate culture that complements this vision. Therefore, in this
analysis it will be recommended that Bob implement not only performance metrics that measure
employee satisfaction such as quarterly surveys but also implement rewards such as employee of the
month in order to increase morale. Further, LI will look to invest in its employees in order to increase
productivity in the long run. Introduction The first object Bob Lazier undertook as the new CEO of
Lazier Industries, was to implement a strategic plan that focused on introducing several new products
which could be cross sold to LI s existing customer base. As a strong believer in the company and it s
potential to broaden its offerings Bob was looking to leverage the strong relationships built with its
clients to sell additional lines of components. However, since being placed as the new CEO, a lot of

Charter School Case Study
4 Traits of Effective Charter School Vendors
One thing you may be surprised to learn about starting a charter school is that it s a lot like starting a
business. You ve got to put out a quality product (your teaching style), you need to attract customers
(your students), and you want to attract the best talent (your teachers). One of the most challenging
aspects of the process is the hiring and management of suppliers.
Your school will need more suppliers than you think. There s the food for the school lunches,
materials for the classroom, and furniture for the building. Some of these expenses, like the food, are
recurring while others like furniture are one time expenses.
But like any business owner would do, it s vital that you form ... Show more content on

These initial conversations with vendors provide you with a great opportunity to receive more
information about their prices, their products, and potential discounts for large customers. Go with
your gut if a potential supplier doesn t put in enough effort to win your business at the outset, there s
no chance that supplier is going to become easier to work with after they have your buy in.
3. Demonstrates Quality Customer Service
You don t have to wait until you hire a company to gauge the quality of its customer service. In fact,
you can tell a lot about a supplier based on how they treat a customer before they are a customer. Do
they send you a quote on time? Do they follow up with answers to your questions? Is their team happy
to take your calls?
When you re choosing a supplier, you re not just choosing a particular product, but the people who
push that product as well. Issues or late shipments are inevitable, but when those things happen, you
want to feel confident that you re working with professionals that will solve things quickly.
4. Reliability and Stability
Much like customer service, reliability and stability sound like traits you can only see once you start
working with a supplier, but that s not the case.
You can measure reliability by reading reviews or speaking with current or previous customers. If
reviews or personal

Side effects of toxoplasmosis include brain inflammation, headaches, seizures, comatosis, lung
infection and many more side effects. The drug Daraprim has been around a long time of 60 years, and
is a standard treatment for those who are infected with HIV and other parasitic infections(Pollack,
Andrew.). Former hedge fund manager, Martin Shkreli, and his pharmaceutical company known as
Turing Pharmaceuticals purchased the drug which was priced at 13.50 per pill(Pollack, Andrew.).
What Martin Shkreli did with his purchase of the pill wise hike the price up over 5000% making the
pill cost $750 per pill(Pollack, Andrew.). This forces hospitals to use different treatments which are
not as effective as the pill Daraprim. Turing Pharmaceuticals is not the only one to manipulate, drug
prices in such a manner. Cycloserine, a drug used for tuberculosis, raised the price of its drug from
$500 dollars for 30 pills, to $10,800 for 30 pills(Pollack, Andrew.). A California based Pharmaceutical
company, Gilead, charged up to $1000 for a new ¨wonder¨ drug called Sovaldi, which treats the lethal
Hepatitis C virus(Pollack, Andrew.). There is a trend of making the most useful drugs cost a ridiculous
amount of money; and it is because of financial reasons. According to the U.S Department of Health
and Sciences more than 3.2 million people have chronic Hepatitis C, and drugs like Sovaldi have very
little competition, making them able to manipulate

Essay The Importance of Fallout Shelters
A fallout shelter is a shelter that was used in a time of need. From 1947 to 1991, fallout shelters were a
big hit during the Cold war. The fallout shelter represents the atomic age and how families got through
nuclear attacks. A lot was contributed in the making of these shelters, and they kept families together.
Time and effort to keep America safe is what made these shelters important to American History. Not
only are the fallout shelters a symbol of the cold war and fear, but it also significantly impacted
America because they protected Americans from radioactive debris, gave America shelter in a time of
war, and it reduced casualties.

Along with packing enough material for the time being, a shelter plan is a must (Bomb Shelter Guide).
Before the shelters, the issue of the Cold War and nuclear attack were introduced and it induced panic
( Kennedy Urges Americans to Build Bomb Shelters ). As the nuclear attack was seen as a threat to
Americans, Cuba had already received nuclear missiles. Cuba s nuclear missile attack was known as
the Cuban Missile Crisis, in which the USSR placed nuclear missiles in Cuba. This event resulted in
the 13 days crisis. The 13 days crisis was tense, and during this time period, Americans began to stock
up on canned foods. Canned food was the only food Americans shopped for because none of the
shelters had refrigeration, and there were no stoves or microwaves ( The Family Fallout Shelter
Nebraska). Games like Monopoly, or cards were often played in the shelters to pass time by. Girls
often had diaries to write in about how living in the shelter was like.
We ve suffered a war, and one thing we know: Whenever our nation s faced war, whether it was in the
1980s when we were winning the Cold War or in the 1940s during World War II, the responsible thing
to do has been to borrow money to win the war (Mehlman). On top of Americans having shelter, fear
and casualties were reduced ( Fallout Shelters).Washington was the main focal point of the nuclear
threat, and because of that, these shelters were offered for their protection and safety. To promote

Europe s Influence On Western Europe
Western Europe is a term that was used to describe a region where many countries, such as Britain,
France and Germany, which joined after World Wars, shared the same history. In another perspective,
it was also sometimes referring to a region where countries shared the same value: capitalism and
democracy. Throughout the history, because of difference events, the position of Western Europe in
the world has also changed. Before 1914, due to the rapid development of the Enlightenment ideas
and the industrialization in Britain and France, the world major powers centrally seated in Western
Europe. However, as the Western European countries suffered huge losses from two World Wars,
Western Europe has actually steadily marched East since the Great War. Moreover, as many new
immigrants from the former colonized regions joined Western European countries, Western Europe
also gained its economic and political cohesion as most countries became part of NATO and then the
European Union. In the present days, while the idea of Western Europe has expanded to more
countries, it became dominant in its continent and could be considered as a savior to many other
nations.
Prior to the 1914, many of the world great powers, such as Britain and France were centrally seated in
Western Europe. In the 18th century, Britain and France soon developed rapidly due to the birth of the
Enlightenment idea, which challenged the tradition and put more emphasis on the reasons (Hunt et al.

Cultural Awareness Of Sub-Saharan Africa
What is culture, one might ask? According to Merriam Webster Dictionary, culture is the customary
beliefs, social forms, and material traits of a racial, religious, or social group or the characteristic
features of everyday existence (as diversions or a way of life} shared by people in a place or time
(Culture). Five major characteristics that define a culture include culture is learned, culture is shared,
culture is symbolic, culture is all encompassing, and culture is integrated. Culture depends on the
human capacity for cultural learning that encompasses shared rules for conduct and that are dependent

Savannas have wet and dry seasons and go from extremes like drought and fires ignited by lightning.
Lastly, tropical woodlands have a more defined dry season with hot temperatures (Global Warming).
One of the poorest regions in Africa, the Sub Saharan region has suffered throughout the years while
being labeled with some of the least developed countries in the world. Diseases like malaria have
struck this area hard. In 2007, the population of this portion of Africa was 800 million, with a growth
rate of 2.3%. Many of the countries in this region have very high fertility rates with more than 40% of
the population in this region 15 years of age or younger. Infant mortality, HIV/Aids, and other figures
are also astounding. Because this region is lacking infrastructures, this stifles their economic growth.
However, this region does export many minerals, like gold and bauxite. Universities located within the
Sub Saharan region experienced triple growth in enrollment from 1991 2005. Many of those college
educated students are now coming to countries like the United States and Europe to live and work.
This region of the world includes about 1,000 languages spoken. The causes for conflicts in modern
day Africa cannot be understood without an appreciation of the struggle between traditional African
culture and its clashes with Muslim and European cultures. Understanding Africa s triple

Palliative Care And Hospice Care
Introduction
Palliative care seems to be a grey area of nursing. Nursing for many years has been thought of as a
healing process, aiding people to their healthiest place. Palliative care is also known as comfort care,
should not be confused with hospice care. Both palliative care and hospice care provide comfort. But
palliative care can begin at diagnosis, and at the same time as treatment. Hospice care begins after
treatment of the disease is stopped and when it is clear that the patient is not going to survive the
illness. Hospice care is usually offered only when the person is expected to live 6 months or less
(National Institute of Health 2015). Palliative care specialized for children will be the focus of this
paper.

History, Philosophy And Miscellaneous Works
Literature Review
Libraries have a long history towards the ancient world as places used to keep important records such
as clay tablets, transcripts and many texts. Many records were destroyed in the course of wars or
purposely by some rulers with the changes in government. As a result, writing of literature as well as
record keeping was encouraged where classification schemes were initiated to preserve those records
of all times. The first formal classification was categorizing the writings into four types, the classics,
history, philosophy and miscellaneous works. (Library, 2016). However, these broad categories didn t
help much in guiding to access the increasing collection. The result was, introducing Dewey Decimal
Classification as a scheme for the classification of the documents/ materials. (Library, 2016).
Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC)
DDC was an invention of Melvil Dewey in 1876. He was an Assistant Librarian at Amherst College
when he published DDC as A Classification and subject index for cataloging and arranging the books
pamphlets of a library . (Yoon, J. 2014). The system was formulated to organize the contents of the
library based on the subject areas divided into 10 main groups where each group is given 100
numbers. For example, Religion belongs in 200 299. (DDC, 2016). This numerical classification gives
identification for the item as well as a location tool which ensures the books under the same subject
are kept together in a common area. (Wiercioch,

The Dreamers By Dave Isay
What really defines a dreamer? Is it the children who have unrealistic dreams of playing in the big
leagues or is it someone who has a plan and will go out of his or her way to achieve it? Both of these
options can be true. Dreamers are special in this world because they have hope for something they
believe in. Nothing is more fascinating than seeing an individual who never gave up and worked
extremely hard to reach their goal. Having read only three sections so far, I have explored the
individual s purpose and passion for the work they pursue. The Dreamers section has made me
analyze what I have and want with my future career. Overall, the elements of the book defining
dreamers explains the meaning of a risk taker, the hard work and dedication involved, and the passion
it takes to reach your goals.
Dave Isay strongly connects with his readers in the Dreamers section of Callings. Adventure and
purpose surround this section especially with the bridge tender, street astronomer, and the NBA referee
story. Defining a dreamer can be determined in many ways. As said before, adventure and purpose are
the main components of a dreamer. The information gained from this section is that dreamers have this
sense of hope and passion for the calling they pursue no matter what it is. Individuals such as Herman
Heyn lived out their dream by performing certain tasks. Herman made a living by working as a street
corner astronomer and never worked a day in his life because he

  • 2. Essay about Sundiata If you want a taste of West African History Sundiata will give you exactly what you want and more. Sundiata was an interesting piece of literature to read. Unlike the previous two books we have read this semester I found this book much more simple. This book was much easier for me to comprehend and actually get into. This book exposed me not only to the West African history, but also a new religion. The story of Sundiata depicts the story of the foundation of the Mali Empire in West Africa. This story takes place during a transitional time period, when the trade network that linked towns and villages across western Africa attracted north African merchants who brought increasing Muslim influence. The Mali Empire was one of the great ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He gives special attention to Lahilatoul Kalabi, the first black prince to make the Pilgrimage to Mecca. On his return trek, he was robbed by brigands, and his entourage split. Allah saved his life and made him a king once he returned to Mali after seven years of wandering. They state, After seven years absence Lahilatoul was able to return, by the grace of Allah the Almighty (Sundiata, 2). Another important role in this epic was the importance of long distance trade. After the exile of Sundiata it gives him a chance to learn about the trade routes and people of his region. An example of this long distance trade was in the chapter of The Baobab Leaves. Sundiata s sister, Kolonkan, now of a marriageable age took on the role in society as a woman. She was at the market she noticed a woman who was offering for sale nofiola, and gnougou, condiments unknown to the people of Mema (Sundiata, 43). She recognized the baobob leaves and many other vegetables which her mother used to grow in her garden at Niani. The merchant questions Kolonkan on how she knows about the baobab leaves, due to her offering at the market in Mema for days, but no one wanting them. While over hearing the conversation a man draws near offering the princess a cola. We are merchants and we going from town to town (Sundiata, 44). The details of trade in this chapter greatly illustrate the existence of trade in the West African ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Auditing Ethics Koger Properties, Inc. 1.) The SEC has a strong case against Goodbread for violating his independence because as it is stated on the AICPA s website, Independence shall be considered to be impaired if: During the period of the professional engagement a covered member was committed to acquire any direct or material indirect financial interest in the client. (aicpa.org 101 1). In Goodbread s case this refers to the fact that he had shares of stock (direct financial interest) in his possession when he was the audit engagement partner who oversaw the audit of Koger Properties, Inc. Under the Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (GAAS) there are three sections, General Standards, Standards of Fieldwork, and Standards of Reporting. Under ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Parliament may have seen an opportunity for auditors to cook the books, which would cause those companies to pay more taxes. During the 19th century you had the rise of the United States, and Great Britain did not want to look weaker than the US. If companies were paying more money in taxes, then Great Britain would be a stronger nation compared to the newly founded United States of America. If the auditors of today followed the same rules they did in Great Britain during the 19th century, then America would be in trouble. With such a competitive and strong capitalistic market, it would be hard to not be tempted to alter the financial statements of publically traded companies if there were no independence standards. Today s business world obviously holds independence of auditors to be important or else Michael Goodbread would have never been investigated by the SEC. If independence was not viewed as an important issue in the field of auditing then there would not be rules and regulations strictly forbidding it. With the scandals of Enron, WorldCom, Deloitte and Touche, and others it is apparent that not all auditors act in an ethical manner. With the SEC and other organizations cracking down on these issues it will hopefully clean up the image of auditing in the future. Works Citied Aicpa.Org. 12 Jan. 1988. • 4. Amnesty To Illegal Immigrants Essay U.S. government should not grant amnesty to illegal immigrants. When the government grant amnesty to unauthorized immigrants, people who cross the U.S. border illegally would get legal status. As the population of unauthorized immigrants increased and consequences of granting amnesty were shown, questions about whether or not unauthorized immigrants should stay in the United States became controversial. Although some people argue that illegal immigrants pay taxes and work hard, they are actually harming our society politically and economically. For example, they abuse America public services such as education and health care system, create heavy burdens for US taxpayers by receiving more benefits than paying taxes, contribute to crime rates, and take jobs from legal citizens. In 1986, president Ronald Reagan passed The Immigration Reform and Control Act, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The number of undocumented immigrants has exploded from 5 million in 1986 to more than 11 million today (Heubusch, John. What Reagan would do about Immigration. , sks.sirs.com) . In other words, granting amnesty to illegal immigrants actually stimulate more people to enter our state illegally. As a result, amnesty should not be granted to undocumented immigrants since it will not help to reduce population nor do any good for the country. Amnesty should not be granted to unauthorized immigrants due to its negative impacts to our society. First, when people look back at the history of undocumented immigrants, they will discover that passing amnesty will cause more people to come to the country illegally. Second, immigrants are tax consumers, they created heavy burden for U.S. taxpayers. Third, immigrants take jobs from and lower the wages of U.S. workers. Lastly, they were contributing to the country s crime rate. All these reasons can prove that granting amnesty is detrimental to the country and there is no point for the government to enact ... • 5. Martin Luther King Influence Martin Luther King Influence and Power In the great country of America; America is who it is today because of the men and woman who were great leaders that were able to influence people. Martin Luther King Jr. is one of those great leaders that has changed America for the better because he had a dream. He was a black baptist minister who was a spokesperson against segregation and led peaceful protests. In the 2014 movie Selma, the film shows how Mr. King led the 1965 Selma to Montgomery voting rights marches and the events leading up to it. Mr. King was a remarkable leader because he could motivate people to join him in the protest against segregation and influence America to change. Mr. King spoke at the church in Selma to inspire the people to not stand back and not do anything anymore. In his speeches he used inspirational appeal, which is when a leader spur emotions in the follower s sense of justice or loyalty to the organization. In Mr. Kings first speech in Selma he brings up how the 4 girls were unjustly murdered in their own church and that only 2% of the black population in Selma had the right to vote. He said, those that have gone on before us say no more, that means protest, that means march, that means disturb the peace, that means jail and that is hard . By the end of his speech the congregation was on their feet applauding and chanting give us the vote. Because Mr. King used inspirational appeal and brought up the injustice that was happening the people were willing to protest and march. If Mr. King started off with that they were going to march and protect for first the people wouldn t have reacted the same way. Mr. King was very well liked and respected by the black community because he was protesting against segregation. Because he was so well known everywhere Mr. King went and he showed referent power because the people wanted to meet him and shake his hand. Referent power is when followers want to be like or closely associated with the leader. The followers want to develop a personal relationship with the leader. • 6. An Example Of Sociological Imagination Sociological imagination basically opens your eyes to see the bigger picture towards different issues in our society. Rather than make accusation or excuses for why someone has lost their job you realize that it was not something personal. We allow ourselves to see how everyone in our community is affected with the same issue and not just single out someone. Allowing yourself to take a step back and really looks at the situation as a whole, gives you a chance to see all of the different issues and how to better solve them. Ostinato Scene Analysis Shiyao Anna Luo MUS Z315 Music for Film Psycho Viewing Assignment Part I: Musical texture built from ostinati (short, repeated patterns) There are several points that ostinato has been used in the film, and starting from (00:10:56), which is the scene when Marion is packing her luggage. There are strings playing the upper linear line in high register, and there are also strings playing in the middle register and low register in order to create those different layers of voicing. The scene followed this one, which starts around (00:13:02) also use ostinato at the beginning part of this scene. This scene is about when Marion drives her car on the street, she meets her boss. As I have discussed a little bit earlier that the instrumentation for this music scores, unlike traditional orchestra music, it mostly uses strings. Even though there are no brasses and percussions (usually play the lower register and bass melody) in the film, I think Bernard Herrmann used the strings in a way that they are the whole orchestra. He used the double basses and cellos to play out the bottom line of melody and the violins and violas to play the upper melody. He is using the string ensemble but creates the sounding effect of a whole orchestra. As we discussed during class last week that most composers back into that time prefer to use more neo romantic style music; however, this music score definitely has nothing relate to romantic style. It is dissonant as I said before, and creates lots of tensions but it does not resolve, and I feel like that is one big thing that makes it different from classical music, and obviously, it applies many uses of atonality. Even at the beginning scene (00:06:02) that when Marion spends her lunchtime with Sam, the music at there is not like typical love theme music. People usually relate strings with love theme; however, I feel like the strings playing at this scene do not tightly apply to the romance element in the film. • 8. Myth Of The Good Guy With A Gun Analysis Both texts suggest that the increase of gun population leads to a violent result. Although, both consider the same outcomes, the Blood Drive is more effective in the thought of violence, rather than helping keep people safe. The Myth of the Good Guy with a Gun is a good source of information, using logos as its type of persuasion, the evidence/examples are statistics and numbers that express the idea that guns aren t used for good. The Blood Drive uses pathos, a persuasion that emphasises the emotion of the audience. In this case, logos is a better expression for this topic because the question is asking for an increase in population of violence, a number. • 9. Similarities And Differences In Ancient Greece In this essay two Ancient Greek city states (polies) will be compared and contrasted showing how despite their differences, they both rose to become predominating powers. Ancient Greece consisted of many small city states, two of which were Athens and Sparta. Athens was considered the center of fine arts, music, and educational opportunities. Sparta was known for its outstanding military strength and tactical abilities at war. Life for a Spartiate was comprised of constant training and conditioning for war, while an Athenian citizen would spend much of their day pursuing what they wished. Although these two city states were substantially different, they both rose to become the two most predominant powers in Ancient Greece. There were several advantages and disadvantages to each of these two polies. Their societal structures were relatively similar, and their governments were exact opposites. Athens was a very artistic and philosophical city state while Spartan culture revolved more around the training of men for war and stability of the government. Spartans valued organization and stability, while Athenians comparatively valued freedom of choice. There were also huge gender biases between the two polies, and through all of this, traditions and beliefs have been passed down to our generations today, helping to shape the world we live in. To begin with the simplest societal structure of these two poleis. Spartan society was divided into three main classes. At the top was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Preparing exit strategies now, not only for fiscal stimulus, but also for government support for the financial sector and hard hit industries, will enhance the effectiveness of these measures in the short term, as this depends upon clarity regarding the pace with which such measures will be withdrawn. Since financial markets, businesses and consumers are forward looking, expectations are factored into decision making today. The precise timing of exit strategies will depend on the strength of the recovery, the exposure of Member States to the crisis and prevailing internal and external imbalances. Part of the fiscal stimulus stemming from the EERP will taper off in 2011, but needs to be followed up by sizeable fiscal consolidation in following years to reverse the unsustainable debt build up. In the financial sector, government guarantees and holdings in financial institutions will need to be gradually unwound as the private sector gains strength, while carefully balancing financial stability with competitiveness considerations. Close coordination will be important. Vertical coordination between the various strands of economic policy (fiscal, structural, financial) will ensure that the withdrawal of government measures is properly sequenced an important consideration as turning points may differ across policy areas. ... Thus, laminated beams are ideal for noticeable roof structures in residential or other purposes, in which the inevitable cracking of solid wood is unwanted. This method can help save lives, especially because of serial killers on death row. Serial killers slaughter many people, as they would kill innocent people on the streets. A prime example is Ted Bundy. According to his lawyer, Bundy killed over a hundred people and most of them were women who he also sexually assaulted. He was also extremely intelligent, as he escaped from the jail cells in both Utah and Colorado. Therefore, for somebody like him, a life sentence may not work because he was able to charm the workers. With his charm and personality, he received many privileges, such as library access. He also seemed to show no remorse, because he openly denied killing innocent bystanders until the night before his execution. Therefore, for somebody like him; whom the public somehow obsessed over, was aware of his horrid actions, and knew how to escape jail; a life in prison would not have succeeded. He was executed and this may have saved many lives of women because there is no longer the possibly of him escaping jail for a third time. First it was described in the United Kingdom in March 1996 and it has been connected with exposure to a TSE of cattle known as Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy (BSE) sometimes called Classical BSE, having been reported first in 1986 in the United Kingdom. Prior to identification of vCJD, the widely known human TSE, Creutzfeldt Jakob disease (CJD), had been thought to have only three forms of existence, (National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke, 2012). The first form was Iatrogenic CJD, caused by accidental transmission by contaminated surgical equipment or the administration of human deprived pituitary growth hormones or from corneal or meningeal (dura mater) though this always account for less than 5% cases of CJD. The Jungle Book (2016) is about Mowgli, a young boy who was raised by a family of wolves since he was born. Mowgli must leave the jungle his only home, when a vicious tiger Shere Khan wants him dead. Accompanied by a wise panther Bagheera and a free spirited bear Baloo, the journey to a new home begins. Along the way, Mowgli meets a variety of jungle animals that teach him important life lessons. An archetype is a pattern or character types that films used repeatedly to deliver a subconscious message. The Jungle Book has two main archetypes of animal and male bonding. Although The Jungle Book uses all the jungle animals, the animal archetype is seen through and mainly focuses on the wolves (Akela and Raksha), the panther (Bagheera), the bear (Baloo), the tiger (Shere Khan) and the Gigantopithecus (King Louie). In Creating the Myth , Seger states, Many myths contain animal archetypes that can be positive or negative figures (393). In the film, one will see Akela, Bagheera and Baloo as positive figures/animals who protect and want the best for Mowgli. Shere Khan is the negative figure/animal who is seeking revenge on Mowgli. The male bonding archetype can be seen through Mowgli bonding with Bagheera, Baloo and Akela as they teach him important life lessons throughout the film. However, with Winston it is the other way around, his journey starts at success and ends with downfall. But that shouldn t unqualify him from being a hero. Winston Smith is the hero of the novel because he shows courage, and has a strong mentality and he continuously looks past limitations. He basically was willing to do anything for what he believed in, an example of this could be when he made a promise to O Brien saying that he was going to do anything for the brotherhood even if it meant he had to hurt children. Winston could not defeat the Party, however he makes small acts which rebel against the party and by doing this he is trying to be a leader to show the other members of the party that something needs to be done. He still proves that he is a questing hero through his courage, strong mentality and his ability to look past his limitations. Even though Winston did do some bad like telling setting the rats on Julia because of his fear and suddenly loving Big Brother at the end, which most people consider hypocritical. But why not look at the positive? He repeatedly wrote down with Big Brother , and he went about his love affair with Julia which by the way he barely knew. He tries and see the party for what it is, and of course it certainly wasn t any good, he thinks very much and philosophies a lot, but that certainly does not make his live better. He s a hero because he cares about the people who he sees around him, and he tries to help them in the best way he can considering the fact that his health isn t so good. Just imagine what he was going through it must ve been extremely hard to mentally be going against something or someone when everyone else who surrounds supports them or the ideas that they represent. A quote where Winston shows courage is The first step had been a secret, involuntary thought; the second had been opening that diary. He had moved from thoughts to words, and now from words to actions . He had the courage to attempt a dangerous path but it was unintentional. The Effects Of Performing Local Pwht And Considerations CHAPTER 1 Literature and Previous Work Introduction and Related Research There is a common practice to perform post weld heat treatment when performing alterations or repairs to pressure vessels that have been stress relived prior to being commissioned. This research paper is the study of the consequences of performing local PWHT and considerations that need to be taken when determining what type of stress relieving is to be performed to meet code requirements. Post weld heat treatment is an effective way to minimize weld residual stresses in pressure vessels and piping equipment. PWHT is a required for carbon steels above a code defined thickness threshold and other lo allow steels to mitigate the propensity for crack initiation and ultimately, brittle fracture, and is often employed to mitigate stress corrosion cracking due to environmental conditions. Performing local PWHT following component repairs or alterations is often more practical and cost effective than heat treating an entire vessel or a large portion of the pressure boundary. The ambitious plan is to use printers to print out organs and eventually perform a transplant to replace the patient s nonfunctional one, with a lab printed functional organ. The Printing In order to understand 3D printing, you need to understand how generic multi dimensional printing works. 3D Printing uses computer aided printing technology to deposit layers of the material in specific location to form a three dimensional object. Traditional three dimensional printing is expensive, but scientists plan on using inkjet based printers in bioprinting. These printers are able to deposit tiny ink drops onto a surface upon demand using thermal inkjet technology. A small air bubble is heated until it collapses, and the force from the collapse serves as a pulse that forces tiny droplets of ink out of the nozzle. This allows for more precise printing. The temperatures during the printing process can reach as high as 300 C, but the entire process is so instantaneous, that it only lasts for a couple of microseconds. With this technology, living cells can be printed at the same time that nutrients, drugs, and other important chemicals, as well as protective gels.
