Compare And Contrast United States And France s Judicial...
The United States of America is a country located on the continent of North America that is ruled by a
federal authority. France, conversely, is a country located on the continent of Europe with a semi
presidential republic. These two forms of government utilized by each country are both similar and
different, although they are both democratic republics. Both nations have a written constitution and
use a system of checks and balances that divide power into three branches: the legislative, the
executive, and the judiciary. The legislative branches are very similar, having analogous houses of
Congress, but the executive and judiciary branches are notably different. The executive branch not

America s highest court is the supreme court, but in France the highest courts are further categorized
into six divisions: three civil courts, a commercial court, a labor court, and a criminal court. Justice in
these courts are also decreed differently in the two countries. The U.S. proclaims court rulings based
on common law, the written and unwritten rules of society which govern and regulate democracies. In
a trial, for instance, a judge relies not solely on legislative decisions but also on other judicial
decisions which may have set precedents in similar cases in the past. France, for its part, follows a
civil law system in which punishment is affected based on already written codes. The civil law system
tends to be more authoritarian than a common law system, as every legal procedure must be codified
and given precedence in an existing constitution.
The United States and France have different executive branches. The United States is led by an elected
president, but the Republic of France is headed by a semi presidency. The President (Head of State) in
France can appoint a prime minister who serves alongside the president to help the president manage

Symptoms And Treatment Of Chicken Pox
Introduction
The illness that I have chosen for my report is Chicken Pox. Chicken Pox is a common disease
amongst children. The disease is highly contagious and can spread through contact with someone who
has chicken pox. Chicken pox in children can spread through cough or sneeze and also through the
clothing or bed linen of an affected person. Most children encounter chicken pox once in their infancy.
However through proper care and precautions, the illness can be avoided. During my research for this
paper, I have come across effective precautions that can be taught to children to avoid this illness.
Chicken Pox
Chicken Pox is commonly caused by an extremely contagious virus known as the varicella zoster
(Hoffmann, 2008). The disease is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The virus usually affects the nerves and commonly causes the chicken pox. Various medicines have
been developed to treat the virus, include some vaccines which can help in preventing the diseases
cause by the varicella virus (Hoffmann, 2008).
Symptoms of Chicken Pox
Usually the chicken pox infections lasts around 8 to 10 days. The most common symptom of chicken
pox is the red rash. The red rash is extremely itchy and appears as a spot. The rash that appears in the
initial period goes through three stages. The first stage is raised red bumps that cause itchiness. The
red bumps break over in a few days. The next stage is the fluid filled blisters, known as vesicles, that
are formed after the red bumps break. These fluid filled blisters should not be scratched. In the last
stage the fluid filled blisters break and are then covered by crusts and scabs. This is the last stage after
which the healing process begins. New spots appear every day on the body therefore it is possible that
the affected person experiences the three stages of the rash at the same time (Mayo Clinic, 2015). The
rashes always appear in clusters and start appearing first at the back, stomach and chest. The rashes
commonly occur on the face, behind the ears, on stomach chest and back and on the arms and legs.
High fever is also a common symptom experiences by people affected by chicken pox disease. The
fever can be as high as 103 104 Fahrenheit. Many children also experience extreme fatigue

Essay on 1980s
This report is to inform you on the decade of the 1980s. People s jobs, income, ideas, opinions
changed so much from 1980 to 1989.
Fewer Americans belonged to labor unions in the 1980s. In 1980 there were nearly 21 million union
members; that number had declined to 17 million by 1985. The most important aspect of a job for the
majority of Americans was a feeling of accomplishment, beating out high pay by a better than 2 to 1
margin. In the mid Eighties, 88% of Americans said they were satisfied with their jobs. In spite of this,
less than 40% expected to remain in their current job for more than five years. Most Americans didn t
think it would be difficult to get another job. This indicated general optimism about the economy and

This is the first time this had happened in modern times. Interracial marriages accounted for only
1.3% of the total in 1982. Three fourths of all first marriages occurred in a religious setting the other
third were done by eloping. A 1983 survey of 100,000 adults showed that 48% of married men and
38% of married women had affairs. This had increased the rate of divorce.
In 1984, some level of government employed 18 million Americans. The federal government
employed 2.9 million. The Postal Service employed nearly 750,000 people this year. During this time,
the average household spent $21,788 a year, paying for taxes, mortgage or rent, car payments, food,
and clothing.
A 1984 study showed that 53% of 18 year old girls were having sex. A similar study showed that 66%
of 18 year old boys were doing to the same. Less than half of both boys and girls used any protection.
This caused 4 out of 10 teenage girls to become pregnant before they were 20. Most young girls were
single mothers between the ages 18 29.To add to this, nearly half of the 892,000 teenage pregnancies
ended in abortion. Teenagers with poor school grades were more likely to be sexually experienced,
while those with good grades were less likely.
In the Eighties, kids were not in very good physical condition. Only 2% of 18 million kids passed the
Presidential Physical Fitness test in 1984. Only about one in three met the Amateur Athletic Union s

The Time Frame Of Relevance For The American Mafia
During the early 1900s, specifically the 1920s, organizations involved in sophisticated crime arose and
lived on for decades, influencing American progress and culture. These organizations came to be
known as the American Mafia, the Italian Mafia, or the Italian Mob. These families , as they were
called, sprung up in large cities all across the United States. The mob progressed quickly in America,
developing from the simplest of crimes to methodical, organized illegal activity. The method of
structure and the emphasis of loyalty and secrecy made insiders of the mob very susceptible to
exploitation by the local police and federal government agencies, many instances of which were
eventually revealed to the public. The mafia, while still around today, fell in prominence and
importance in the eyes of the American government and its people. The major time frame of relevance
for the American Mafia is about 1920 2001.
During a time when immigration flourished for the United States, specifically the late 1800s and early
1900s, many people of different backgrounds and ethnicities did as was popular at the time and moved
to the fresh land of America, specifically the cities of New York and Chicago, in search of better
economic opportunity. The Italians that would eventually come to compose nearly the entirety of the
mob were included in this influx of people. The number of immigrants increased by 800% between
the years of 1880 and 1890, starting at 25,000 and growing to 250,000

Injustice By Japanese Americans
On December 7, 1941, while most American sailors were still asleep in their bunks, Japanese planes
flew over Pearl Harbor bombing every ship on sight. The surprise attack lasted less than two hours. At
that time, 2,400 Americans were killed, including over 1,100 when the battleship Arizona sank, almost
1,200 were wounded, 20 warships were sunk or severely damaged, and approximately 150 airplanes
were destroyed. Immediately after the attack, all people of Japanese descent became suspects of being
capable of sabotage, and the success of the attack was assumed to be the result of espionage by
Japanese Americans living on the West Coast. President Franklin D. Roosevelt fearing a second attack
issued and signed Executive Order 9066 on February 19,

Wolof Research Paper
As the African proverb goes, If you want people to understand you, speak their language. Such was
the case for the Wolof tribe when France colonized their native country of Senegal, located on the
northern West coast of Africa, in the early 20th century. Before the French arrived, Senegal had been a
constantly changing domain. The Portuguese, Dutch, British, and French fought back and forth over
outposts such as the small island of Gorée, part of modern day Dakar, Senegal. It was finally returned
to the French by the British in 1815, after the Napoleonic wars, and the French began their expansion
into the mainland (Diallo). However, as the French ventured farther into Africa, they encountered the

The history of the Wolof people can be traced back to the great kingdoms of pre colonial Senegal,
prior to 1946. Kayor and Baol, two of these empires, are often cited as examples of the Wolof
resistance to French colonialism due to the lasting of their culture and language (National African
Language Resource Center). Even after French was deemed the official language, people continued to
use Wolof. Since then, the term Wolofization has been coined to describe its spread. Wolof people
make up about 40% of the nine million Senegalese, representing the largest single ethnic group at
approximately 44.5% in the 2004 census ( Wolof ). In addition, Wolof is spoken as a first or second
language by more than 90% of the population (Diallo), by over 5.2 million speakers (Thompson).
French, however, doesn t even rank in the top six national languages, with only about 20% as a second
language, and 1% as a first (Diallo). Strong Wolof presence can be seen not just lingually, since
independence, but the Wolof have played a leading role culturally, politically, and economically in
Senegal too. The Wolof people remain the single largest Ethnic group in Senegal, and despite the
country s weak economy, the Wolof have built a reputation for international commerce and trading. In
addition, Wolof businesspeople can be found throughout Africa, Europe, and even on the streets of
New York City and Washington, D.C. ( Wolof ). In resistance to the French national language, Wolof
has continued and maintained it s status as the lingua

partner, you are struggling with yourself. Every fault you see in them touches a denied weakness in
yourself. (Deepka Chopra). In Breath, Eyes, Memory, Martine and Sophie both had many struggles
that were caused or involved by one another. Breath, Eyes, Memory, by Edwidge Danticat, is an
intriguing story about an impoverished, close knit family that experiences many challenges through

imagery, and symbolism to develop that struggle within a person can impact others around them.

Since Sophie got tired of Martine testing her, she decided to rip her veil: My flesh ripped apart as I
pressed the pestle into it (Danticat 87). The reader is able to depict Sophie getting a pestle and pushing
it into her vagina. This is a struggle Sophie had to cope with because it caused her a lot of pain. To
help deal with her pain, Sophie took therapy classes and had many practices: I didn t feel guilty about
burning my mother s name anymore (Danticat 207). A person can imagine Sophie writing down
Martine s name and throwing it into the fire. Martine has caused Sophie a lot of pain so burning her
pain can open doors for a new beginning. While Sophie had her own struggles, Martine was struggling
with the baby: She stabbed her stomach with an old rusty knife (Danticat 229). Martine pleaded for a
lot of people to help her. Most of Martine s struggle came from how Sophie was conceived. The act of
Martine gruesomely stabbing her stomach helps the reader visualize how she committed suicide and
how she could not have the baby. Danticat uses imagery to develop how the struggles of Martine and
Sophie correlate with each

Data Evidence. Due the high number of catheters placed pre surgically on our unit, there is a high risk
for infection if the following occur; proper sterile technique is not used at insertion, proper catheter
care is not maintained during each shift, the catheter is not properly secured to the patient with an
approved securement device, and if the catheter is left in place longer than it is medically necessary.
Implementing worklists in the EHR and mandatory education sessions have been proven to decrease
the occurrence of these infections as I have discussed above. When alerts are generated through the

competencies will ensure that we are remaining current on the best possible methods for caring for our
patients in a way that will benefit their health status and the facility as well.
Quality Outcomes.
There are several quality outcomes I hope to achieve through the implementation of this initiative. The
most important outcome is to improve the quality of patient care and minimize hospitalization lengths.
The second outcome is to improve the process used in the hospital status post insertion of urinary
catheters and to minimize the length of time the catheters remain indwelling in the patient. The third
outcome is to decrease the monetary toll that CAUTI takes on the facility by working to prevent the
infections from occurring in the first place.
Needed Leadership. The following departments need to be involved in this proposed initiative for it to
be successful; the infection control department, nursing administration, floor nurses, and urology. It is
important to have representatives from each department as they will all have valued input and each
specialty is especially important to the success of the initiative. Infection control and Urology will
have a major role in the research and implementation of the proposed change process as well as the
latest research regarding evidenced based practice

Cleopatra and Her Relationship with Roman Caesars
Stacy Schiff is a remarkable writer and a historian. She has a Pulitzer Prize to prove it, and she is also
a guest writer for the New York Times and various newspapers. Her latest work is Cleopatra: A Life.
Schiff tells how Cleopatra was a very remarkable woman. Even after Octavian, Cleopatra was known
as the wicked women in the world.
Schiff tells much about Cleopatra s life involving Mark Antony and Julius Caesar. Schiff ensures us
that Cleopatra had one of the top educations from Alexandria. Caesar did not only stay in Egypt for
Cleopatra s seductress ways, however Caesar wanted to get rein over his enemies. When Caesar was
murdered, by a group of schemers, in the Roman Senate, his adopted great nephew Gaius Octavius
was his only heir. Mark Antony thought he was heir to the Roman Empire but however, Caesar had
different plans.
Janet Suzman tells the story of how Shakespeare wrote the play about Cleopatra and Mark Antony.
Suzman says Shakespeare s Antony and Cleopatra is a horrific story of a formally mighty conqueror
who is infatuated with the Queen of Egypt. Antony was so obsessed with Cleopatra and how she led
him to his death. (Draycott, 38 44) Suzman said that Cleopatra and Antony had a horrible love story.
Schiff tells the story of Cleopatra and Antony very similar to Suzman. However, Cleopatra and Antony
s relationship had its problems. Schiff believed that Antony and Cleopatra had much in common. They
were both left out of Caesar s will. Schiff also tells how

Summary Of The Phantom Menace By Padme Amidale
In 1999, The Phantom Menace was released into theaters. The beginning of the saga was brought to
understand where the original trilogy s villain origin story came from and where the famous twins
Luke and Leia came from. Leia stole the hearts of many in the original trilogy and it was now her
mother s turn to take the spotlight. Many did not welcome her character with open arms and rejected
her. She was the young naïve queen with a crazy fashion sense who had a crush on a nine year old
boy. At a very young age, Padme was interested in politics which happens to be a male dominated
career. Fourteen year old Padme Amidala was elected queen of Naboo. While many would call her
naïve, the planet elected the young for their purity and believed age brought corruption. Age could
have brought naivety, but Padme had proven herself a leader her people trusted that once her second
term ended they wanted her to continue leading the planet. In episode I, Amidala deals with the
struggle of the Trade Federation who wants the planet to surrender to them while they are controlled
by Darth Sidious. It was a plan to gain control over the galaxy with easier access since the young can
be easily influenced. Amidala refused that easy access over her planet from the Trade Federation. She
is level headed to not directly take action for war but to persuade the senate for a plead of help. When
the escape to Coruscant is delayed, she takes the opportunity to widen her knowledge about the planet

Negative Reflection Of My Facebook Profile

aggressive, argumentative, assertive and responsive. I do not believe that my account reflects my shy,
well mannered public self as I am more vocal when I comes to my Facebook profile. Looking through
the posts and comments I have made, it seems to be very clear that I have no worries about an

These statuses were assertive and argumentative, however they garnered a lot of comments and likes. I
was very responsive to those who commented, replying to all of them, either defending my point or
explaining the rationale behind the statuses. I was showing off my confident personality and treating
myself as though I was superior to those around me. Then there was another post saying to
temporarily withdraw from physical affection of any kind. The rationale behind that was to keep her
wanting more. If you found yourself touching her first a lot, you should withdraw from a significant
amount of time. That is unless she initiates it; if she initiates it, do not refuse the touch. This will
subconsciously show her how much she needs you. To add onto that, I commented saying you are
entitled to her body and it is her job to protect herself from unwanted affection. You should not be
wasting your time guessing how much touch she is comfortable with. Start with gentle contact and
then escalate quickly. She is there for you to play and enjoy, and it is up to her to determine how much
touch she is comfortable with. I gave advices that many people agreed with, including girls. I even

Legalization Of Marijuan The Hot Button Issues Of Todays...
Andrew Sheridan
Legalization of marijuana is one of the hot button issues of todays political arena. For the last several
decades the federal government has waged its infamous War on Drugs, a war on it s own citizens
which covers all manner of psychoactive substances that have been deemed illegal. Strikingly,
thousands upon thousands of citizens have been incarcerated for crimes associated with the
production, distribution, and the consumption of marijuana. Marijuana is a plant that has been
cultivated for thousands of years for both its psychoactive effects and its industrial applications. The
founding fathers of the United States were among those who cultivated marijuana. Grassroots efforts
are defined by the text We the People: An ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As these numbers increase the question of legalization in general across the states has become an
interesting and pressing issue. Multiple stances on both the pro and con side of the issue exist.
Supporting arguments often use studies to back up their claims. In an October 15, 2014 article in The
Washington Post, Christopher Ingraham writes of the non negative aftereffects of the
decriminalization of marijuana. In particular he reviews a report from the Center on Juvenile and
Criminal Justice, which studied California, where full decriminalization began at the start of 2011. Of
interest the report states marijuana decriminalization in California has not resulted in harmful
consequences for teenagers, such as increased crime, drug overdose, driving under the influence, or
school dropout. (Ingraham). Make no mistake, Ingraham is quick to point out that correlation is not
causality. He does however note The sky hasn t fallen. (Ingraham). The naysayers who predicted that
California s youth would fall into aimless lifestyles were incorrect. In addition to studies, other
arguments cite documentaries. In his article released today, 20 April 2015, Zachary Wener Fligner
writing for Quartz reviews the CNN documentary Weed 3: The Marijuana Revolution . In it Dr.
Sanjay Gupta interviews President Obama, and Gupta asks the President if he supported the

Theme Of Omens In The Alchemist
The pungent smell of chestnut trees filled the air as his knees grew tremulous, insecurities filling his
mind of the future. For years he had walked the trails in attempt to once again reunite with mankind
after the devastating shipwreck that set him off course. From the corner of his eye he saw a
swallowtail butterfly, nonetheless of his wife s favorite, no doubt it was a sign. He must keep moving.
Alike to this harried individual and his determination to keep moving after being reminded of his
family, author Paulo Coelho illustrates similar traits in characters as well as the same principles
through his works of art. In the novel, The Alchemist, Coelho utilizes the motif of omens in Santiago s
journey to reveal themes, and teach readers valuable life lessons. Omens prove to be a significant part
of Coelho s masterpiece that guide Santiago on his treacherous journey, and convey a theme of the
novel which is one s only task in life is to follow one s personal legend. For instance, when Santiago,
is in Tarifa, Spain after traveling with his sheep to meet his desired lover, he befriends the King of
Salem who prepares him to follow his personal legend, as the King of Salem states, In order to find
the treasure, you will have to follow the omens. God has prepared a path for everyone to follow. You
just have to read the omens that he left for you (Coelho 29). Santiago first learns about omens and the

The use and applications of telehealth services have expanded over the past decade, along with the
role of technology in improving and coordinating care. Telehealth has improved capabilities to reduce

Tele stroke is another area of tele emergency care that has been the subject of several studies assessing

Essay on Characteristics of Dolphins
Characteristics of Dolphins
The majority of small tooth whales are called dolphins. Dolphins are mammals of the order Cetacean
and the families Plantanistidae and Delphinidae and include about 50 species (Internet 1). Most
dolphin species are about 6 feet in length, the males averaging 4 to 8 inches longer than females. The
longest dolphin, the bottle nose dolphin, can reach over nine feet in length and weight up to 440
pounds. The smallest dolphin species is the buffalo which is found in the Amazon River. The Buffalo
dolphin rarely grows over 3.9 feet or weighs more than 66 pounds. A dolphin s diet consists mainly of

A dolphin s normal cruising speed is about 23 to 25 mph, and if they are bow riding, they have been
known to get up to 30mph. Because dolphins are mammals (warm blooded) their internal temperature
is between 97.9o to 99of. They normally come to the surface to breathe about every two minutes. Each
breath consists of a short, almost explosive exhalation, followed by a slightly longer inhalation.
Dolphins can hold their breath for up to several minutes and are capable of rapid and deep dives of
more then 1,000 ft. Dolphins once were hunted commercially, for the small quantity of valuable oil
extracted from parts of the head and used to lubricated delicate watch mechanisms. Since cheaper oils
have now been found from other sources, dolphins are no longer hunted for this reason. Many
dolphins, however, become accidentally trapped and drowned in tuna nets. Between the years 1959
and 1972 an estimated 4.8 million dolphins died this way (www.thedolphinplace.com/facts.html).
Because of the pressure from animal rights activists and United States consumers, both domestic and
international tuna canners have refused to accept shipments from fishing fleets that do not protect
dolphins. The Marine Mammal Protection Act of 1972, amended in 1988 and 1992, was passed to

The Prices Of College Tuitions
The trend continues with the skyrocketing prices of college tuitions. This is not an uncommon issue
the days of college tuition being affordable are slowly fading into the past. This conundrum has

This is an issue that affects many people thus there is a multitude of literature on the issues of tax
money being used for tuition. The literature ranges from an online to radio and through these mediums
will provide the views on this issue. That range from the college and the use of funding from sports to
the student.
(NEEDS HEADING)
Rise in tuition is often seen as a school trying to gauge as much as money as they can from the
students. A view most forgotten in this argument is that of the school. The school has to have money to
feed the students and house the students plus teach them. Those three things are a necessity for the
students. Schools would face lawsuit after lawsuit if they failed to feed the students. The school also
has to pay its employees and hire new ones that leave.
The online article best value schools provide a view from a schools stance by informing the reader on
issues schools face. The author points out the common issues. The more students the more money
needed to support them and if a school wants to make money it will take as many as it can get

The Importance Of Making Valid Decision And Strategizing...
1
I still remember the days in my universities as if it were yesterday. In those days I worked with lot of
national and international organizations, which are working in varied sectors and bringing change by
modern methodologies. In second year of my under graduate, I founded a Non Governmental
Organization named Fep Si (Forum for Empowering people through Social Innovation and
Entertainment) and worked with another organization named Alexis Foundation as research associate
for designing public policy driven by Big Data. From the experiences of working in these
organizations I learnt about the importance of making valid decision and strategizing on business,
polity and market front by providing accurate and up to date information and performing data driven
decision making at minor level. On the other hand exposure of working with United Nations Envoy on
Youth also helped me in evolving as a leader who has the quality of thinking analytically towards
global problems. During these days I have felt many times that a lot of these problems can be solved
by integrating computer technology into data collection and management of resources, energy, capital
and various other things which are generally done by old methodologies. These instances motivated
me to believe that in the complex and interconnected world of international business and its
strategizing, the science of information management is ever more important.
My interest in analytical thinking and science dates back to my

The Maycomb Jail
One single personal voice who reminds a mob of its individuality can disarm it, is the central theme
for chapter 15 in the novel To Kill A Mockingbird. This is shown in the three literary elements;
setting, conflict and character which all help develop the theme.
To start off, the setting of the chapter is the Maycomb jail. This is significant because Tom Robinson
the black man who Atticus is protecting in court is staying at that jail until his case is opened in the
summer. In the novel, it describes the jail well, The Maycomb jail was the most venerable and hideous
of the county s buildings. This gives you an imagine in your head, showing how ugly the building
looks like. It also says ...miniature Gothic joke one cell wide and two

Electronic Computers And Their Components
Electronic computers and their components are very complicated pieces of hardware and would be
impossible to completely explain every single intricacy in one essay. Although complicated they can
be explained but only one piece of hardware at a time so the best option to start would be explaining
the unit that has its hand in everything in a computer and that is known as the Central Processing Unit
also known as CPU. In a modern computer are 6 main components that are required for a computer to
work. These components are the Motherboard, Central Processing Unit (CPU), Graphics Processing
Unit (GPU), Random Access Memory (RAM), Hard Disk Drive (HDD) or Solid State Drive (SSD),
and the Power Supply Unit (PSU). The motherboard acts as a highway for every component to interact
with each other. The CPU processes data and determines what to do with it. Everything done on a
computer will have to travel through the CPU at some point as the CPU acts as traffic control on the
highway. The GPU is in charge of processing everything visual or different mathematical assets such
as Floating Point Operations and many more. Everything you see on the screen was processed by the
GPU. RAM is temporary memory to be used by the CPU when the computer is powered on. Open
programs any other software store its memory in the RAM while they are being used. RAM is used
because it is much faster than using an HDD or SSD. In some cases when the CPU and GPU are
combined on the same silicon die they

[Uk Model Essay from Exam Board- Level 4] Do You Agree...
(40 MARK) Whereas sources 4 and 6 suggest that Henry had given all power to Wolsey, source 5
contradicts this argument, describing how the king had overall power. Source 4, an extract from
Scarisbrick Henry VIII, gives the impression that Henry gave all power to Wolsey, whilst he hunted
and jousted. Cavendish then states how the king had surrendered the cares of the state into the
Cardinal s hands. This gives the impression that Wolsey had the powers of the king and was in charge
of running the country efficiently. This is supported by source 6, where Henry asks Wolsey to watch
some of the key nobility as well as any others of whom you are superior. This is clearly Henry giving
Wolsey freedom to act as he wishes, thus ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The author Lotherington describes how government was dominated by...competing groups but that
overall the source of all power was the king. Lotherington argues that as Wolsey lacked the intimate
daily contact enjoyed by others within the court this meant Wolsey was not all powerful. Also, the
king also looked to his Privy Council and Gentlemen s bedchamber for advice on issues, as well as
Wolsey, which shows that Henry shared the power throughout the court. Saying this however, Wolsey
had had more power than others (as seen in the Elthem Ordinances) where Wolsey halved the
members of Henry s gentlemen of the Bedchambers from twelve to six, and moved key advisors
overseas. This suggests that although the power was shared, Wolsey could still decide who the king
received advice from, which indirectly could be interpreted as Wolsey in total control. Also, although
source 5 describes the power of the factions Lotherington also states how Wolsey controlled the
distribution of patronage which was essential to gain power and status. This gives the impression that
Wolsey had overall control of government, and could either air or hinder the careers of the ambitious
men. Saying this however, once the amicable grant failed in 1525 Henry lost faith in Wolsey. This
allowed the competing factions, many of whom opposed Wolsey due to his power, to undermine his
authority which eventually led to his disapproval and eventually arrest for treason. This

Key Implications Of The Solow Model
The Solow model is widely considered to be the standard neoclassical economic growth model which
serves as the basis for understanding economic growth. I will first introduce the two basic equations
that the Solow model is built around, discussing the main assumptions made along the way. I will then
present the key equation of the Solow model and discuss its results and implications. I will then
address why it is desirable to use log linearization, and how it can be used to study the dynamics near
the steady state. We will then briefly look into the empirical results of Mankiw et al. (1992) and what
they mean for the Solow model. We begin with the aggregate production function of the model. Let us
denote output (Y), capital (K), labour (L) and the index of productive efficiency (A). The production
function can then be written as:
Y=F(K,AL) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To the contrary, if a is high then the rate of convergence is low because diminishing returns set in
slowly.
The differential equation for output convergence is quite similar. Assuming Cobb Douglas technology
we can show that y=k^a which then implies that y ̇/y=a k ̇/k by taking logs and differentiating with
respect to time. Here a is translating a given growth rate of capital into a given growth rate of output.
Substituting into the previous differential equation we get a new one for the growth rate of output:
y ̇/y≈ λ[logy logy^*]
The growth rate in each of these expressions is linear in the gap from the steady state measured in
logarithms.
Solving both differential equations and re arranging we get: logy(t) =(e^( λt) )logy(0)+(1 e^( λt)

The Conflict Process Model and Its Application in...
Introduction
This essay endeavours to not only discuss the elements of the conflict process model such as the
reasons or sources that can trigger conflict in an organisational setting, with particular reference to
behavioural factors and what positive and negative impacts that can thus be resulted, but will also
discuss the different behavioural characteristics and mechanisms that various cultural backgrounds
reveal in order to manage conflict. It will further evaluate the consequences and drawbacks from
stereotyping particular cultural groups and analyse the role and responsibility of the management in
understanding the cause of conflicts and specifically cross cultural conflict and how they could be
solved effectively.

Every action that they engage in after the emotions have been developed is aimed at proving their
superiority to others (Deutsch 2006). In most cases, employees are engaged in ensuring they are
viewed as the better ones in any undertaking in the organisation. Research indicates that relationship
conflict have more negative effects than task conflict. The fact that relationship conflicts result in the
use of emotions in coming up with solutions makes it more stressful to the employees.
Behavioural factors that can manifest conflict Organisational conflicts are characterised by a variety of
factors and in particular behavioural. These may take different forms depending on the nature in which
they are portrayed. They could either be written, oral or physical. The oral behaviour that manifests
conflict in the organisation involves a case where the employees engage in exchange of unpleasant
words that display the existence of the conflict. Secondly, the conflict may be in the form of written
documents that bear evidence of conflict (Popejoy 2002). Such documents may be in form of e mails
that are exchanged between the parties in conflict in the organisation. Finally, the conflict in the
organisation may be portrayed in terms of physical confrontation among the employees and this is the
highest limit that the conflict in the organisation can be portrayed through (Popejoy 2002).

Review Of Richard Louv s Last Child On The Woods ( 2008 )
The twenty first century fills itself with fast improving technology that alters people s lives. The world
adapts to technology as a normal way of life and without it, people are considered out of this touch or
unknown. Society has become too reliant on their smartphones, televisions, and video games that they
seem to be delusional about the world around them and tend to go outside less and stay inside more
hiding themselves from humanity. Statistics say that technology keeps friends, family, and co workers
in touch, but it does not keep them in touch with nature. Today, civilians are separated from reality by
new advancements that are supposed to enhance people s lives for the greater good, yet what all of
these new advancements do is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The sheer popularity of stimulating nature or using nature as ad space demands that we acknowledge,
even respect, their cultural importance, suggests Richtel. Culturally important, yes. But the logical
extension of synthetic nature is the irrelevance of true nature the certainty that it s not even worth
looking at. (Louv lines 9 19) The text illustrates how today, advertisers only value their financial
opportunities rather than the significance of the environment. Major companies place billboards, street
signs, and bench ads to reach out to a fraction of the population that is on the road. Not only are the
ads a disturbance to the drivers, but the businesses do not pay the least attention to the environment
and only consider the economic improvements and money they will receive. Yes, ads are essential to
improve the consumer rate for a company, but it is not needed to destroy a part of nature or to violate a
child s view from the car window to get a company s point across. Technology may be there to create
a cure for cancer or to build better lives for the poor, but look at what technology is doing to the minds
of children, teens, and adults. Can people see their shifts in behaviors or the differences in how they
talk and communicate with one another? Can people see their children suffering or see teenagers
cyberbullied? Technology

Relationship Between Friendship Quality And The Amount Of...
Friendship quality in connection to time spent with romantic partner Humans are naturally a social
species (Furman, 1999). People engage in different types of relationships throughout their entire lives.
Certain relationships are lifelong, others maybe just a day or even a few seconds. Among those longer
lasting relationships, are friendships and romantic relationships. Nearly all people can relate to both at
some point in life, however, do the two ever intermix? Based upon personal experience, I have found
it can be problematic to balance both types of relationships. Friends of mine have dedicated much time

As part of the study, the boys were asked to rate the quality of their friendships. In support of positive
friendships, it was found that the boys who were in the resilience category had higher friendship
ratings than those that were not able to overcome hardships. Leading one to believe the support given
by the excellent friends helped the kids overcome the adversity. Girls also prove friendship to be
supportive through life. Researchers found that although girls and boys tend to approach offering
support in different ways, having a support system through friends develops an emotional closeness
(Rose, Smith, Glick, Schwartz Mette, 2016). Furthermore, friendships have also been noted to make
an impact on what college students contribute their success to (Killoren, Streit, Alfaro, Delgado,
Johnson, 2016). Additional benefits to friendships have been distinguished through research as well.
Throughout a lifetime, friendships adapt and change based upon developmental phases and transitions
(Hartup Stevens, 1997). In this way, friendships are flexible and essentially ever changing. An
advantage to having enduring friendships is ensuring a sense of an overall well being in addition to
what has already been stated. Moreover, aside from friendship contributing to psychological and
mental health, friendship also provides advantages to physical health. Friendships provide social
support that reduces stress levels

battle stars. The time spent overseas played a major role in what would ultimately be the basis of most
of Salinger s short stories. World War II is also where Salinger met one of his major literary
influences, Ernest Hemingway. Although Salinger s style stems from Hemingway, their first encounter
was not one that sat well on Salingers s mind. The story goes that while Hemingway was serving as an

Hemingway shot the head off a chicken to demonstrate the merits of a German Lager (French 25). The
incident so affected Salinger that he incorporates it into his short story, For Esme: with Love and

Both soldiers from each society followed a strict code. The famous European knights wore fully iron
plated suits and carried shields and heavy broad swords. They fought and died by a code called The
Code of Chivalry. This coded stated that all knights spoke the truth at all times, to keep their faith, to
respect women, to always keep their honor and glory, respect those of higher power, and since they
were Catholic they didn t believe in suicide. As for the legendary samurai of Japan, they were
different. The samurai wore light leather armor that had iron plates on the chest, forearms, and shines.
They carried a very light yet very deadly sword called a katana. Unlike the broad sword, the katana
took a delicate process by a skilled crafts man to make. Each katana was so unique, no two are the
same. The samurai lived by a code too called Bushido. Bushido s main concept was about frugality,
loyalty, martial arts mastery, and honor unto death. The honor unto death part was taken so seriously
the samurai had a ritual suicide technique they use when they were losing in battle or in other
situations as capital punishment called seppuku. This process was adapted into bushido so that the

How Did The Operation Mincemeat s Defeat
The Invasion of Sicily started on July 10, 1943, was a grand full scale Allied invasion involving about
160 000 men, and ten thousand vehicles completely dominating the Italian island entirely, liberating
the Sicilians. The major event leading up to this victory was Operation Mincemeat, considered by
some to be the most successful single deception of the entire war. It was an absurd plan intended to
seize Sicily under Allied control, through forging an identity of a dead man who never lived to feed
false information to the Axis. It involved a ludicrous amount of planning, judgement, and
consideration, but most importantly: good fortune. Despite the need for a carefully assembled

Despite Mussolini s protests and conviction that Sicily was going to be attacked, Hitler fully believed
that Italy was no longer in danger, locating his troops elsewhere along the coast. The dispersion of
Hitler s forces tried to cover too much area, being less concentrated in power which ultimately leads to
his defeat. Operation Mincemeat had not only worked but had succeeded as a deception that changed
the path of World War II for the Allies. The intricate planning in Operation Mincemeat played an
important role in its success; however, luck, timing, and situational factors that were uncontrollable by
the Allies contributed to the success to a great extent. Without these unpredictable factors, Operation
Mincemeat could have potentially failed as a whole; however, the fortune that the Allies had allowed
Operation Mincemeat to become even more effective than predicted. As Ben Macintyre had said,
deception is a sort of seduction. In love and war, adultery and espionage, deceit can only succeed if

fiasco. Consuelo who was speechless regained her composure for a moment, I understand that she
became a loon, but did I miss something with you two? My son is going to be crushed, while you are
going to look your finest for the biggest mistake your daughter is going to make in her life? I just don t
understand.
Sol replied proud, You always put on a good face during bad weather, don t you go out in the rain with
makeup? Consuelo was so appalled she could only muster, You mean you are not going to stop her?

Cell And Breast Cancers And Colorectal Cancer
An antimetabolite, 5FU is a pyrimidine analog that irreversibly inhibits TS. Thymidine is a nucleoside
and a major component of the DNA and is hence required by cells for proliferation. Deoxyuridine
monophostate (dUMP) upon methylation by TS generates thymidine monophostate (dTMP). 5FU
interrupts the activity of TS and creates a shortage in the levels of dTMP. Thus the rapidly
proliferating cells undergo death due to lack of thymidine nucleoside. The drug has successful
applications in colorectal and breast cancers and is used in various combination therapies with
methotrexate (Maddur et al., 2009). The concentration used for the experiments is 10 µM

215 cells have high proliferating rates as compared to 253 cells. To generate metformin resistant cells,
215 and 253 were cultured 4 8 weeks in the presence of 3mM of metformin. Cells were considered
resistant after 3 serial passages in vitro.
For the generation and enrichment of cancer stem cells, PDAC cells at 106 cells/ml concentration
were grown in a serum free Dulbecco s Modified Eagle s Medium (DMEM F12) complemented with
B 27 and FGF. The cells were seeded in ultra low attachment flasks. This aids in the development and
the expansion of the PDAC spheres (cancer stem cells). Metformin was added (at 1:1000 dilution) in
case of culturing metformin resistant spheres. All the cells were contained in a T 75 flask and
incubated at 37°C.
The regular cancer cells were seeded at 106 cells/ml concentration in RPMI containing 10% (v/v)
FBS. The cells were cultured in regular attachment T 75 flasks. Metformin at 1:1000 dilutions was
added in case of culturing metformin resistant PDAC cells.
After incubating for 7 days, spheres increase in size and range from 40 120 µm. For serial passaging,
spheres were harvested using 40 µm cell strainers (filters), trypsinised to dissociate into single cells
and then grown again for 4 days in the same conditions.
Growth media was aspirated and the flask was washed with PBS. The cells were trypsinised and kept
in an incubator at 37°C until the cells

Sara Lee’s Corporate Strategy
Sara Lee s original corporate strategy prior to retrenchment was to acquire mostly unrelated
businesses to increase overall company profits, which proved to be difficult to manage properly with
such a broad focus. In 2005 when Sara Lee hired a new CEO they announced a plan to become a more
tightly focused food and beverage, and house hold products company. They began by divesting the
weakest preforming businesses and product lines also by exiting businesses that they find to be
nonstrategic.
Since then Sara Lee has completely changed the way the business operates and looks. They ve gone
from a giant and diverse group of businesses to a tightly focus core group of businesses and product
groups.
Sara Lee s competitive strengths will come from the more focused approach on food products and
related businesses as well as significantly reducing their operations in other business units in alternate
industries. With a narrower focus of food products Sara Lee can continue to reduce cost and increase
margins along the primary and secondary activities of the value chain.
Every industry that Sara Lee elected to keep within their portfolio of products is a top producer with
many brands being number one in their category, as well as businesses that have significantly
increasing revenues so the long term attractiveness is greater with the remaining businesses.
Sara Lee s retrenchment strategy has allowed the business to return to its core expertise which is the
food industry. This

Increasing Physical Fitness Levels In Children
Physical Education is becoming a special, along with art, music and other valuable classes that many
school districts have decided are not important enough to schedule daily. As a result, America s
children spend most of their school hours sitting still. The lack of physical activity, coupled with
overeating, has led to an increase in childhood obesity.
Say what you will about Richard Simmons, but the eccentric exercise guru recently brought national
attention to a problem we in PSAHPERD know all too well: the decrease in physical education is
contributing to an alarming increase in overweight American kids.

Get faculty involved in a students vs. teachers game after school.
Work with individual classroom teachers to plan a physical activity that helps teach lessons in their
subject areas.
Suggestion # 3: Keep talking up fitness with your students.
As physical educators, we often are our students most powerful role models for healthy lifestyles. Our
enthusiasm in the gymnasium can inspire and motivate our students, encouraging them to try our
suggestions for being active after school. Although our instructional time has been seriously curtailed
in recent years, there are ways we can make every minute on the gym floor count.
Plan interesting, energizing class activities that kids enjoy. Variety is the spice of life... and of PE!
Give kids ample opportunity to learn and master lifetime leisure skills. Offer positive reinforcement to
children who report pursuing healthy leisure activities.
Display posters of healthy kids doing all kind of healthy physical activities.
Make a special effort to encourage reluctant learners to find their comfort level in trying new physical
activities.
Have copies of exercise charts for students to take home and record after school and weekend
activities. Give positive feedback for all efforts.
Provide monthly fitness calendars with daily activity suggestions, i.e., walk the dog, rake leaves, jump
rope, etc.
Get up and move with your students. Seeing you

Childhood Obesity Is Becoming A Major Public Health Crisis...
Introduction
Childhood obesity is becoming a major public health crisis in both children and adults. The American
Heritage dictionary simply defines obesity as a condition of increased body weight that is due to
excessive build up of fat in the body. The CDC (Center for Disease Control), use the BMI (Basal
Metabolic Index) and CDC growth charts to determine obesity and overweight in adolescents and
children. The BMI for age percentile is determined by plotting the BMI value. Using this chart,
obesity is defined as a BMI value that is at or above the 95th percentile for children who are of the
same sex and age. Overweight is described as a BMI value at or above the 85th percentile but lower
than the 95th percentile. Between the year 2003 and 2006, a National Health and Nutrition study
indicated that at least 31.9 percent of both children and adolescents were overweight, and 16.3 percent
were obese (Lossing, 2010). The number of obesity has increased significantly over the years causing
it to be designated as a global epidemic by the World Health Organization (WHO) in 1998(Jadavji
2006). Cases of childhood obesity are highest in developed countries. However, there is a steady
increase in its prevalence in developing countries also. Interestingly, there are proportionately more
overweight girls than boys, especially among adolescents. Childhood obesity has significant
consequences on both the psychological and physical health of a child. These consequences include;

Talk Shows
TALK SHOWS The television talk show is, on the face of it, a rather strange institution. We pay
people to talk for us. Like the soap opera, the talk show is an invention of twentieth century
broadcasting. It takes a very old form of communication, conversation, and transforms it into a low
cost but highly popular form of information and entertainment through the institutions, practices and
technologies of television.
The talk show did not originate over night, at one time, or in one place. It developed out of forty years
of television practice and antecedent talk traditions from radio, Chatauqua, vaudeville and popular
theater. In defining the talk show it is useful to distinguish between television talk (unscripted

Successful talk show hosts like Mike Wallace, Johnny Carson, and Barbara Walters bridge generations
of viewers. The longevity of these super stars increases their impact on the forms and formats of
television talk with which they are associated.
Television talk shows originally emerged out of two central traditions: news and entertainment. Over
time hybrid forms developed that mixed news, public affairs, and entertainment. These hybrid forms
occupy a middle ground position between news and entertainment, though their hosts (Phil Donahue,
Oprah Winfrey, and Geraldo Rivera, for example) often got their training in journalism.
Approximately a third of the major talk show hosts listed at the end of the essay came out of news.
The other two thirds came from entertainment (comedy in particular).
Within the journalistic tradition, the names Edward R. Murrow, Mike Wallace, Ted Koppel and Bill
Moyers stand out. News talk hosts like Murrow, Koppel, and Moyers do not have bands, sidekicks, or
a studio audience. Their roles as talk show hosts are extensions of their roles as reporters and news
commentators. Their shows appear in evening when more adult and older aged viewers are watching.
The morning host teams that mix happy talk and information also generally come from the news
background. This format was pioneered by NBC s Sylvester Pat Weaver and host Dave

  • 2. Compare And Contrast United States And France s Judicial... The United States of America is a country located on the continent of North America that is ruled by a federal authority. France, conversely, is a country located on the continent of Europe with a semi presidential republic. These two forms of government utilized by each country are both similar and different, although they are both democratic republics. Both nations have a written constitution and use a system of checks and balances that divide power into three branches: the legislative, the executive, and the judiciary. The legislative branches are very similar, having analogous houses of Congress, but the executive and judiciary branches are notably different. The executive branch not only has a president but also a prime minister, the judiciary ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... America s highest court is the supreme court, but in France the highest courts are further categorized into six divisions: three civil courts, a commercial court, a labor court, and a criminal court. Justice in these courts are also decreed differently in the two countries. The U.S. proclaims court rulings based on common law, the written and unwritten rules of society which govern and regulate democracies. In a trial, for instance, a judge relies not solely on legislative decisions but also on other judicial decisions which may have set precedents in similar cases in the past. France, for its part, follows a civil law system in which punishment is affected based on already written codes. The civil law system tends to be more authoritarian than a common law system, as every legal procedure must be codified and given precedence in an existing constitution. The United States and France have different executive branches. The United States is led by an elected president, but the Republic of France is headed by a semi presidency. • 3. Symptoms And Treatment Of Chicken Pox Introduction The illness that I have chosen for my report is Chicken Pox. Chicken Pox is a common disease amongst children. The disease is highly contagious and can spread through contact with someone who has chicken pox. Chicken pox in children can spread through cough or sneeze and also through the clothing or bed linen of an affected person. Most children encounter chicken pox once in their infancy. However through proper care and precautions, the illness can be avoided. During my research for this paper, I have come across effective precautions that can be taught to children to avoid this illness. Symptoms of Chicken Pox Usually the chicken pox infections lasts around 8 to 10 days. The most common symptom of chicken pox is the red rash. The red rash is extremely itchy and appears as a spot. The rash that appears in the initial period goes through three stages. The first stage is raised red bumps that cause itchiness. The red bumps break over in a few days. The next stage is the fluid filled blisters, known as vesicles, that are formed after the red bumps break. These fluid filled blisters should not be scratched. In the last stage the fluid filled blisters break and are then covered by crusts and scabs. This is the last stage after which the healing process begins. New spots appear every day on the body therefore it is possible that the affected person experiences the three stages of the rash at the same time (Mayo Clinic, 2015). The rashes always appear in clusters and start appearing first at the back, stomach and chest. The rashes commonly occur on the face, behind the ears, on stomach chest and back and on the arms and legs. High fever is also a common symptom experiences by people affected by chicken pox disease. Fewer Americans belonged to labor unions in the 1980s. In 1980 there were nearly 21 million union members; that number had declined to 17 million by 1985. • 6. The Time Frame Of Relevance For The American Mafia During the early 1900s, specifically the 1920s, organizations involved in sophisticated crime arose and lived on for decades, influencing American progress and culture. These organizations came to be known as the American Mafia, the Italian Mafia, or the Italian Mob. These families , as they were called, sprung up in large cities all across the United States. The mob progressed quickly in America, developing from the simplest of crimes to methodical, organized illegal activity. The method of structure and the emphasis of loyalty and secrecy made insiders of the mob very susceptible to exploitation by the local police and federal government agencies, many instances of which were eventually revealed to the public. The mafia, while still around today, fell in prominence and importance in the eyes of the American government and its people. The major time frame of relevance for the American Mafia is about 1920 2001. During a time when immigration flourished for the United States, specifically the late 1800s and early 1900s, many people of different backgrounds and ethnicities did as was popular at the time and moved to the fresh land of America, specifically the cities of New York and Chicago, in search of better economic opportunity. The Italians that would eventually come to compose nearly the entirety of the mob were included in this influx of people. • 8. Wolof Research Paper As the African proverb goes, If you want people to understand you, speak their language. Such was the case for the Wolof tribe when France colonized their native country of Senegal, located on the northern West coast of Africa, in the early 20th century. Before the French arrived, Senegal had been a constantly changing domain. The Portuguese, Dutch, British, and French fought back and forth over outposts such as the small island of Gorée, part of modern day Dakar, Senegal. It was finally returned to the French by the British in 1815, after the Napoleonic wars, and the French began their expansion into the mainland (Diallo). The history of the Wolof people can be traced back to the great kingdoms of pre colonial Senegal, prior to 1946. Kayor and Baol, two of these empires, are often cited as examples of the Wolof resistance to French colonialism due to the lasting of their culture and language (National African Language Resource Center). Even after French was deemed the official language, people continued to use Wolof. Since then, the term Wolofization has been coined to describe its spread. Wolof people make up about 40% of the nine million Senegalese, representing the largest single ethnic group at approximately 44.5% in the 2004 census ( Wolof ). In addition, Wolof is spoken as a first or second language by more than 90% of the population (Diallo), by over 5.2 million speakers (Thompson). French, however, doesn t even rank in the top six national languages, with only about 20% as a second language, and 1% as a first (Diallo). Strong Wolof presence can be seen not just lingually, since independence, but the Wolof have played a leading role culturally, politically, and economically in Senegal too. The Wolof people remain the single largest Ethnic group in Senegal, and despite the country s weak economy, the Wolof have built a reputation for international commerce and trading. In addition, Wolof businesspeople can be found throughout Africa, Europe, and even on the streets of New York City and Washington, D.C. ( Wolof ). She has a Pulitzer Prize to prove it, and she is also a guest writer for the New York Times and various newspapers. Her latest work is Cleopatra: A Life. Schiff tells how Cleopatra was a very remarkable woman. Even after Octavian, Cleopatra was known as the wicked women in the world. Schiff tells much about Cleopatra s life involving Mark Antony and Julius Caesar. Schiff ensures us that Cleopatra had one of the top educations from Alexandria. Caesar did not only stay in Egypt for Cleopatra s seductress ways, however Caesar wanted to get rein over his enemies. When Caesar was murdered, by a group of schemers, in the Roman Senate, his adopted great nephew Gaius Octavius was his only heir. Mark Antony thought he was heir to the Roman Empire but however, Caesar had different plans. Janet Suzman tells the story of how Shakespeare wrote the play about Cleopatra and Mark Antony. Suzman says Shakespeare s Antony and Cleopatra is a horrific story of a formally mighty conqueror who is infatuated with the Queen of Egypt. Antony was so obsessed with Cleopatra and how she led him to his death. (Draycott, 38 44) Suzman said that Cleopatra and Antony had a horrible love story. Leia stole the hearts of many in the original trilogy and it was now her mother s turn to take the spotlight. Many did not welcome her character with open arms and rejected her. She was the young naïve queen with a crazy fashion sense who had a crush on a nine year old boy. At a very young age, Padme was interested in politics which happens to be a male dominated career. Fourteen year old Padme Amidala was elected queen of Naboo. While many would call her naïve, the planet elected the young for their purity and believed age brought corruption. Age could have brought naivety, but Padme had proven herself a leader her people trusted that once her second term ended they wanted her to continue leading the planet. In episode I, Amidala deals with the struggle of the Trade Federation who wants the planet to surrender to them while they are controlled by Darth Sidious. It was a plan to gain control over the galaxy with easier access since the young can be easily influenced. Amidala refused that easy access over her planet from the Trade Federation. In particular he reviews a report from the Center on Juvenile and Criminal Justice, which studied California, where full decriminalization began at the start of 2011. Dolphins are mammals of the order Cetacean and the families Plantanistidae and Delphinidae and include about 50 species (Internet 1). Most dolphin species are about 6 feet in length, the males averaging 4 to 8 inches longer than females. The longest dolphin, the bottle nose dolphin, can reach over nine feet in length and weight up to 440 pounds. The smallest dolphin species is the buffalo which is found in the Amazon River. A dolphin s normal cruising speed is about 23 to 25 mph, and if they are bow riding, they have been known to get up to 30mph. Because dolphins are mammals (warm blooded) their internal temperature is between 97.9o to 99of. They normally come to the surface to breathe about every two minutes. Each breath consists of a short, almost explosive exhalation, followed by a slightly longer inhalation. Dolphins can hold their breath for up to several minutes and are capable of rapid and deep dives of more then 1,000 ft. Dolphins once were hunted commercially, for the small quantity of valuable oil extracted from parts of the head and used to lubricated delicate watch mechanisms. Since cheaper oils have now been found from other sources, dolphins are no longer hunted for this reason. Many dolphins, however, become accidentally trapped and drowned in tuna nets. Between the years 1959 and 1972 an estimated 4.8 million dolphins died this way (www.thedolphinplace.com/facts.html). Because of the pressure from animal rights activists and United States consumers, both domestic and international tuna canners have refused to accept shipments from fishing fleets that do not protect dolphins. This is not an uncommon issue the days of college tuition being affordable are slowly fading into the past. This conundrum has brought to light the idea of using tax money to help pay tuition. This idea has vast potential, but can it reach its potential. This is an issue that affects many people thus there is a multitude of literature on the issues of tax money being used for tuition. The school has to have money to feed the students and house the students plus teach them. Those three things are a necessity for the students. Schools would face lawsuit after lawsuit if they failed to feed the students. The school also has to pay its employees and hire new ones that leave. In those days I worked with lot of national and international organizations, which are working in varied sectors and bringing change by modern methodologies. In second year of my under graduate, I founded a Non Governmental Organization named Fep Si (Forum for Empowering people through Social Innovation and Entertainment) and worked with another organization named Alexis Foundation as research associate for designing public policy driven by Big Data. From the experiences of working in these organizations I learnt about the importance of making valid decision and strategizing on business, polity and market front by providing accurate and up to date information and performing data driven decision making at minor level. On the other hand exposure of working with United Nations Envoy on Youth also helped me in evolving as a leader who has the quality of thinking analytically towards global problems. During these days I have felt many times that a lot of these problems can be solved by integrating computer technology into data collection and management of resources, energy, capital and various other things which are generally done by old methodologies. These instances motivated me to believe that in the complex and interconnected world of international business and its strategizing, the science of information management is ever more important. • 23. Electronic Computers And Their Components Electronic computers and their components are very complicated pieces of hardware and would be impossible to completely explain every single intricacy in one essay. Although complicated they can be explained but only one piece of hardware at a time so the best option to start would be explaining the unit that has its hand in everything in a computer and that is known as the Central Processing Unit also known as CPU. In a modern computer are 6 main components that are required for a computer to work. These components are the Motherboard, Central Processing Unit (CPU), Graphics Processing Unit (GPU), Random Access Memory (RAM), Hard Disk Drive (HDD) or Solid State Drive (SSD), and the Power Supply Unit (PSU). The motherboard acts as a highway for every component to interact with each other. The CPU processes data and determines what to do with it. Everything done on a computer will have to travel through the CPU at some point as the CPU acts as traffic control on the highway. The GPU is in charge of processing everything visual or different mathematical assets such as Floating Point Operations and many more. Everything you see on the screen was processed by the GPU. RAM is temporary memory to be used by the CPU when the computer is powered on. Open programs any other software store its memory in the RAM while they are being used. RAM is used because it is much faster than using an HDD or SSD. In some cases when the CPU and GPU are combined on the same silicon die they ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

(40 MARK) Whereas sources 4 and 6 suggest that Henry had given all power to Wolsey, source 5 contradicts this argument, describing how the king had overall power. Source 4, an extract from Scarisbrick Henry VIII, gives the impression that Henry gave all power to Wolsey, whilst he hunted and jousted. Cavendish then states how the king had surrendered the cares of the state into the Cardinal s hands. This gives the impression that Wolsey had the powers of the king and was in charge of running the country efficiently. This is supported by source 6, where Henry asks Wolsey to watch some of the key nobility as well as any others of whom you are superior. The author Lotherington describes how government was dominated by...competing groups but that overall the source of all power was the king. Lotherington argues that as Wolsey lacked the intimate daily contact enjoyed by others within the court this meant Wolsey was not all powerful. Also, the king also looked to his Privy Council and Gentlemen s bedchamber for advice on issues, as well as Wolsey, which shows that Henry shared the power throughout the court. Saying this however, Wolsey had had more power than others (as seen in the Elthem Ordinances) where Wolsey halved the members of Henry s gentlemen of the Bedchambers from twelve to six, and moved key advisors overseas. This suggests that although the power was shared, Wolsey could still decide who the king received advice from, which indirectly could be interpreted as Wolsey in total control. Also, although source 5 describes the power of the factions Lotherington also states how Wolsey controlled the distribution of patronage which was essential to gain power and status. This gives the impression that Wolsey had overall control of government, and could either air or hinder the careers of the ambitious men. Saying this however, once the amicable grant failed in 1525 Henry lost faith in Wolsey. This allowed the competing factions, many of whom opposed Wolsey due to his power, to undermine his authority which eventually led to his disapproval and eventually arrest for treason. This ... I will first introduce the two basic equations that the Solow model is built around, discussing the main assumptions made along the way. I will then present the key equation of the Solow model and discuss its results and implications. I will then address why it is desirable to use log linearization, and how it can be used to study the dynamics near the steady state. We will then briefly look into the empirical results of Mankiw et al. (1992) and what they mean for the Solow model. We begin with the aggregate production function of the model. Let us denote output (Y), capital (K), labour (L) and the index of productive efficiency (A). The production function can then be written as: Y=F(K,AL) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 41. Sexual Identity, Discrimination, And Privilege The course of Multicultural psychology reflected in my own identity in relation to sexual identity, discrimination, and privilege. Before coming into this course my understanding of these concepts was mediocre, but after learning about the impacts of each I now see a different perspective. My understanding of these concepts evolved and changed over time by learning new information about each separately and applying each to my own life. Now my knowledge is beyond mediocre. My identity relating to sexual identity was pretty set before coming into this course. I knew even from a kid I was straight, because I was constantly looking at guys as well as talking about how cute they were. Nonetheless, I followed the pretty stereotypical roles of a girl growing up. I played with dolls and loved pink and anything with glitter really. When I was younger, my knowledge about sexual ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I remember a kid in our class, whose name I do not recall speaking about the discrimination he faced about being gay. He was told to act like a man and not like a girl. He felt like he was being discriminated against because he was different. This hurt me because it s not fair to feel that way. Our class also discussed the type of discrimination that African Americans face when it comes to their beauty. Attributes that African Americans already posses is popular by social media, but they are not recognized for their beauty. Only white people seem to get all of the attention. By being white, this hurt me and made me feel bad about my race is discriminating others. From this class I can learn how to love all types of people no matter color, race etc. I can use this in the future whenever I am in the workplace. I believe that we get treated how we treat others and that is my motto. We should not discriminate, because I know and others know how much it can impact an individual s ... • 42. The Cafe Window In the early evening back at home Consuelo was still pacing in front of the café window. Concerned for the safety of her only son, who had departed this morning wearing his sleepwear and robe. Her jaw fell open when on the sidewalk before her appeared Stella and Sol, with much audacity. Carrying up the path garment bags from a high end department store. Behind them was Dr. Edwards who had just pulled in after his long shift at work. He walked towards Stella who was standing in front of the door. He greeted her with a big, juicy, wet, kiss, then they all just walked right in. Consuelo, who was still owning her tantrum, was offended by their smiles and casual stances. Not wanting to believe what she was seeing when she questioned, Are those really garment bags you carrying? Calm and collect Sol put on her sarcastic tone and lifted her head and retorted You saw the wedding invitation. My daughter gets married next Saturday. We will dress impeccably well for the fiasco. Consuelo who was speechless regained her composure for a moment, I understand that she became a loon, but did I miss something with you two? My son is going to be crushed, while you are going to look your finest for the biggest mistake your daughter is going to make in her life? I just don t understand. Sol replied proud, You always put on a good face during bad weather, don t you go out in the rain with makeup? • 43. Cell And Breast Cancers And Colorectal Cancer An antimetabolite, 5FU is a pyrimidine analog that irreversibly inhibits TS. Thymidine is a nucleoside and a major component of the DNA and is hence required by cells for proliferation. Deoxyuridine monophostate (dUMP) upon methylation by TS generates thymidine monophostate (dTMP). 5FU interrupts the activity of TS and creates a shortage in the levels of dTMP. Thus the rapidly proliferating cells undergo death due to lack of thymidine nucleoside. The drug has successful applications in colorectal and breast cancers and is used in various combination therapies with methotrexate (Maddur et al., 2009). The concentration used for the experiments is 10 µM Oxaliplatin is an antineoplastic platinum drug. Platinum drugs target DNA synthesis by ... To generate metformin resistant cells, 215 and 253 were cultured 4 8 weeks in the presence of 3mM of metformin. Cells were considered resistant after 3 serial passages in vitro. For the generation and enrichment of cancer stem cells, PDAC cells at 106 cells/ml concentration were grown in a serum free Dulbecco s Modified Eagle s Medium (DMEM F12) complemented with B 27 and FGF. The cells were seeded in ultra low attachment flasks. This aids in the development and the expansion of the PDAC spheres (cancer stem cells). Metformin was added (at 1:1000 dilution) in case of culturing metformin resistant spheres. All the cells were contained in a T 75 flask and incubated at 37°C. The regular cancer cells were seeded at 106 cells/ml concentration in RPMI containing 10% (v/v) FBS. The cells were cultured in regular attachment T 75 flasks. Metformin at 1:1000 dilutions was added in case of culturing metformin resistant PDAC cells. After incubating for 7 days, spheres increase in size and range from 40 120 µm. For serial passaging, spheres were harvested using 40 µm cell strainers (filters), trypsinised to dissociate into single cells and then grown again for 4 days in the same conditions. Growth media was aspirated and the flask was washed with PBS. The cells were trypsinised and kept in an incubator at 37°C until the cells ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. Sara Lee’s Corporate Strategy Sara Lee s original corporate strategy prior to retrenchment was to acquire mostly unrelated businesses to increase overall company profits, which proved to be difficult to manage properly with such a broad focus. In 2005 when Sara Lee hired a new CEO they announced a plan to become a more tightly focused food and beverage, and house hold products company. They began by divesting the weakest preforming businesses and product lines also by exiting businesses that they find to be nonstrategic. Since then Sara Lee has completely changed the way the business operates and looks. They ve gone from a giant and diverse group of businesses to a tightly focus core group of businesses and product groups. Sara Lee s competitive strengths will come from the more focused approach on food products and related businesses as well as significantly reducing their operations in other business units in alternate industries. With a narrower focus of food products Sara Lee can continue to reduce cost and increase margins along the primary and secondary activities of the value chain. Every industry that Sara Lee elected to keep within their portfolio of products is a top producer with many brands being number one in their category, as well as businesses that have significantly increasing revenues so the long term attractiveness is greater with the remaining businesses. Sara Lee s retrenchment strategy has allowed the business to return to its core expertise which is the food industry. This ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
Increasing Physical Fitness Levels In Children Physical Education is becoming a special, along with art, music and other valuable classes that many school districts have decided are not important enough to schedule daily. As a result, America s children spend most of their school hours sitting still. The lack of physical activity, coupled with overeating, has led to an increase in childhood obesity. Say what you will about Richard Simmons, but the eccentric exercise guru recently brought national attention to a problem we in PSAHPERD know all too well: the decrease in physical education is contributing to an alarming increase in overweight American kids. • 47. Childhood Obesity Is Becoming A Major Public Health Crisis... Introduction Childhood obesity is becoming a major public health crisis in both children and adults. The American Heritage dictionary simply defines obesity as a condition of increased body weight that is due to excessive build up of fat in the body. The CDC (Center for Disease Control), use the BMI (Basal Metabolic Index) and CDC growth charts to determine obesity and overweight in adolescents and children. The BMI for age percentile is determined by plotting the BMI value. Using this chart, obesity is defined as a BMI value that is at or above the 95th percentile for children who are of the same sex and age. Overweight is described as a BMI value at or above the 85th percentile but lower than the 95th percentile. Between the year 2003 and 2006, a National Health and Nutrition study indicated that at least 31.9 percent of both children and adolescents were overweight, and 16.3 percent were obese (Lossing, 2010). The number of obesity has increased significantly over the years causing it to be designated as a global epidemic by the World Health Organization (WHO) in 1998(Jadavji 2006). Cases of childhood obesity are highest in developed countries. However, there is a steady increase in its prevalence in developing countries also. Interestingly, there are proportionately more overweight girls than boys, especially among adolescents. Childhood obesity has significant consequences on both the psychological and physical health of a child. These consequences include; abnormal ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 48. Talk Shows TALK SHOWS The television talk show is, on the face of it, a rather strange institution. We pay people to talk for us. Like the soap opera, the talk show is an invention of twentieth century broadcasting. It takes a very old form of communication, conversation, and transforms it into a low cost but highly popular form of information and entertainment through the institutions, practices and technologies of television. The talk show did not originate over night, at one time, or in one place. It developed out of forty years of television practice and antecedent talk traditions from radio, Chatauqua, vaudeville and popular theater. In defining the talk show it is useful to distinguish between television talk (unscripted presentational ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Successful talk show hosts like Mike Wallace, Johnny Carson, and Barbara Walters bridge generations of viewers. The longevity of these super stars increases their impact on the forms and formats of television talk with which they are associated. Television talk shows originally emerged out of two central traditions: news and entertainment. Over time hybrid forms developed that mixed news, public affairs, and entertainment. These hybrid forms occupy a middle ground position between news and entertainment, though their hosts (Phil Donahue, Oprah Winfrey, and Geraldo Rivera, for example) often got their training in journalism. Approximately a third of the major talk show hosts listed at the end of the essay came out of news. The other two thirds came from entertainment (comedy in particular). Within the journalistic tradition, the names Edward R. Murrow, Mike Wallace, Ted Koppel and Bill Moyers stand out. News talk hosts like Murrow, Koppel, and Moyers do not have bands, sidekicks, or a studio audience. Their roles as talk show hosts are extensions of their roles as reporters and news commentators. Their shows appear in evening when more adult and older aged viewers are watching. The morning host teams that mix happy talk and information also generally come from the news background. This format was pioneered by NBC s Sylvester Pat Weaver and host Dave ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
