Song Analysis Of Black Roses By John Bowen
In Black Roses , Bowen begins the song with piano chords played hard, but with gaps in between.
This is to grab the listeners attention, but at the same time put the emphasis on the words she is
singing. As she is striking these piano chords, she sings You can throw your words sharper than a
knife/And leave me cold/In another house on fire. Her voice is soft and somber. Her tone implies that
she has been defeated by forces beyond her control. The instrumentation at this point in the song is
only the piano and Bowen is forcefully striking the chords. This forcefulness is indicative of the forces
she feels she has been defeated by. What has defeated her is the relationship with her partner. This
relationship has collapsed just as her mother foretold. Bowen chose not to listen to her mother s sage
advice and now must live with the defeat she feels about the failed relationship with her partner as
well as the damage it has caused between Bowen and her mother. The texture is very thin at this point,
with vocals only being accompanied by the piano chords. This thin texture and absence of additional
musical accompaniment indicates the void she feels as a result of what has unfolded. The second verse
of Black Roses starts with Bowen singing the lyrics She told me twice, all her good advice/But I
couldn t see/I was clouded by your lies. The piano remains the only instrumental accompaniment to
Bowen s vocals, but it is now being played much more full and constant. It is

Renewable Energy Sources Of Energy
The worldwide demand of energy has been increasing considerably. Up to 2030, it is supposed to be
60% higher than today (B. SCHMITZ, 2013). Currently, non renewable energy sources, like coal and
oil, are more commonly used, since they are cheaper than renewable energies. In the European Union,
80% of the energy consumption demands are covered by fossil sources (B. SCHMITZ, 2013). But,
non renewable energy sources are running out and they are also very harmful for the environment,
since they generate greenhouse gases. So, it is very important to discover more renewable ways to
generate energy.
For a very long time, the only energy source that mankind had was the human muscle. After that they
discovered the fire and the animal domestication providing them a source of heat and help from horses
to plough their fields. The only other accessible sources of energy that they could explore were wind
and water. Sails were used on ships allowing people to move across water, windmills and water
wheels were used to grind grains and pump water. At the end the 18th century Europeans discovered
the power of non renewable energy sources and started to use fossil fuels, first coal then oil and
natural gas. With these new energy sources, a lot of new technologies were invented over the years
until in 1700 and 1800 when the industrial revolution occurred. These new technologies based in
fossil fuels allowed an exponential increase in the population and living standards. But, this increase

Disadvantages Of Constantine Grocery
As Constantine Grocery is growing from a small family business to a grocery store chain, the need for
raising funds has increased as a result of the expansion of the business. A preliminary study has been
conducted and the funds needed are believed to be around 135 million dollars. Our mission is to
explore the owner s options to obtain that amount of money and to recommend the best option through
demonstrating the advantages and disadvantages of each choice. 1 Issuing corporate bonds: These are
considered one of the tools used by companies to raise finance. Bonds are also considered as debt and
under there terms the borrower has to pay fixed interest, which is called coupon rate, on the loan and
repay the principal upon maturity of the debt (Choudhry, 2004). Unlike selling shares, bonds are less
risky to investors, allow business to buy back their bonds if they wanted to, and give the business the
opportunity to deduct the interest from the business s taxes (The Legal Environment and Foundations
for Business Law, 2012). The downside of issuing corporates bonds is the fact that they are loans and
they could lead the business to bankruptcy if the business is highly leveraged. In addition to that,
business has to follow the market in deciding the interest rates which increase their financial burden.
Finally, while the company still retain their ownership after issuing bonds, failing to pay interests
enables the investors to control the business through bankruptcy and they

The Invasion Of Undo-Europeans In Ancient India
ndo Europeans in Ancient India About 1500 BC, India was invaded by Indo European people. These
people came from the area between the Black Sea and the Caspian sea. Between 2500 and 2000 BC,
many Indo Europeans migrated all over Eurasia. Some went to Europe and became the Romans and
the Greeks, some settled in Turkey and became the Hittites. Others migrated south east instead. Some
of them stopped in Iran, while others continued south east to Pakistan and India. The slow migration
did not arrive in northern India until about 1500 BC. In India, the Indo Europeans are usually called
the Aryans. The Aryans first settled along the Indus River, in the same place where the Harappa people

The Puritan Community in The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne

characters in the story are Hester Prynne, Arthur Dimmesdale, and Roger Chillingworth. This novel
illustrates the effects of sin on the heart and minds, how a person s downfall may be caused by the
destructive human emotions of hidden guilt and revenge. In The Scarlet Letter, hidden sin destroys

Oysters Decline
Globally, economies and ecosystems have always depended on oysters (Crassostrea virginica) for
many benefits such as enhancement of commercially important invertebrates and finfish, stabilization
of shorelines, filtration of coastal water, and removal of excess nitrogen. Oyster population and
growth has declined drastically, and in 2008 many commercial leases were abandoned because oysters
were dying before reaching market size. This study focused on the correlation of oyster reduction with
water salinity and conchs. Just before this decline there was an increase in the crown conch
(Melongena corona), which is the oyster s predator. A prolonged drought in southeastern United States
at this time could be a factor because of reduced inputs

Discrimination Lawsuit Against Walgreens Co
In 2005, private plaintiffs filed a class action racial discrimination lawsuit against Walgreens, their
employer in the case Tucker v. Walgreen Co., Case No. 05 CV 440 GPM. The plaintiffs alleged that
Walgreens Co. practiced a national, cultural discrimination against African American employees and
managers. Walgreens did this by denying their rights to be selected for entry level positions of
Assistant Manager or Management Trainees, rejecting any promotions for African American
employees in the retail or pharmacy career paths, and placing African American employees in
predominately African American or lower income stores. The plaintiffs sought to receive declaratory
and injunctive relief, as well as compensation and punitive damages. The plaintiffs also pursued class
certification for all African American employees nationwide. In the fall of 2006, the plaintiffs filed a
second complaint which the defendant moved to dismiss. In winter of 2006, the District Court denied
the defendant s motion to dismiss the complaint. The following year, in March 2007, the EEOC filed
an autonomous racial discrimination lawsuit against Walgreen in the U.S. District Court. This case
was renamed EEOC v. Walgreen Company, 07 CV 00172 MJR CJP. The EEOC then filed a motion to
consolidate the EEOC case with the Tucker v. Walgreen case. When the motion to consolidate was
granted, both parties were ordered to file all future pleadings in the Tucker v. Walgreen case. On

Passenger Pigeon Research Paper
At one time the Passenger Pigeon made up 40% of the bird population in America. When they
migrated their flock stretched 300 miles, and covered the sky for hours. How did 5 billion birds
disappear within 30 years? Yes, it is because we hunted the whole population.
The passenger pigeon was an average bird with a big population. This bird served as the cheapest
source of protein while hunters successfully killed the entire species. These birds never attached or
harmed others in any way shape, or form. We killed them in the sky, with nets and bullets, we also
invaded their nesting and mating sites. We killed 5 billion in 32 years date to today. Passenger pigeons
were hunted for their meat which was sold cheaply by the ton.

In this case we would use cloning to bring back this bird. Here is a diagram of how we would do this:
As we can imagine this is a very tricky procedure and also isn t every actuate. Main implications that
would be results of using this method is that once you spoil a Passenger Pigeons nucleolus cell it can
not be reverted. This means that we are lowing the change of bringing this bird back because we
wouldn t have DNA evidence.
Although this is bad there are worse things. If this works and we release the Passenger Pigeon, it will
have a huge negative effect because it wouldn t have any predators. As things change carnivores
change their hunting styles technique and in this case food source. Reintroducing this new food source
would have a huge negative impact because the carnivores could get sick from eating meat that they
haven t had before. Also the first Passenger Pigeon wouldn t know what to eat because they wouldn t
have experience that was passed down from their parents. This pigeon wouldn t be able to teach its
young either. Passenger Pigeons could negatively impact other bird habitats. If pigeons take over
nesting sits, they could wipe out other birds in the area. There are many negative environmental
implications if we release the Passenger

The Negative Effects for Children Born Into Interracial Families
The union between Blacks, Whites, Hispanics, Asians, or any other group can be categorized as an
interracial marriage. It does not matter what ethnic groups are involved: one prominent result of
interracial marriages are the children that are born into these families. Interracial dating becomes a
problem because people cannot seem to ignore race. Racial identity is constant, unavoidable, and has
consequences that are very real. The color of one s skin impacts how society will accept a person and
also determines the advantages and disadvantages one will receive. Children begin to get stressed
when there are conflicts that involve their dual ethnic identity. Children who are born to interracial
families suffer the impact of negative consequences on their psychological well being. This paper
presents some background of the history of interracial marriages and some of the issues surrounding
children of interracial marriages, and some of the negative aspects as they grow older.
History/Background
The Supreme Court case of Loving v. Virginia speaks directly to the topic of this paper. In 1958,
Richard Loving married Mildred Jeter in Washington DC. Afterward, the two returned to Virginia as a

and Mildred did not get married in Virginia, the issue was Virginia had banned the interracial
marriages since 1961. Therefore,

The Importance Of Religion And Terrorism
Religion and Terrorism Terrorism is use of unlawful force against property or persons in aim to
intimidate or coerce the civilian population, the government and any relevant segment while seeking
for either social or political objectives (Awan and Blakemore, 2016). In 1980s, politics inspired
terrorism, but as 1990s approached, the dramatic increase in terrorism was enthused by religious
agendas. As a result there is, need to change focus from political instigated terrorism to a dominant
religious terrorism of the stereotypical terrorist organization. There is therefore a need for the law
enforcement communities and intelligence groups to monitor new religious and extremist groups and
movements, especially when it comes to the United States Domestic terrorism threat(Juergensmeyer,
2017). For instance, terrorists with links to a radical Muslim extremist group orchestrated the dreadful
attack on the World Trade Centre and Pentagon. This increase in religious terrorism is mainly due to
the rise in form of militant Islamic Shiite fundamentalism. According to Bruce Hoffman a Rand
researcher, religious political terrorists and secular political terrorists differ in that; the former
considers violence as a religious call that is a direct response some theological imperative. Among
those groups, terrorism is a full time calling and that is the reason they take credit for their actsand
influence others with rules that views violence as the only way of settling disputes. On the

I have considered the proposition of allowing the mom s of high school student s who attend the

There are three types of myosin fibers within a muscle and those are aerobic fiber 1a (slow twitch),
aerobic fiber 2a (fast twitch), and anaerobic fiber 2x (fast twitch). 1a is low intensity and it increases
in intensity to 2x. 1a and 2a are aerobic, so they require oxygen for cell respiration to complete
glycolysis, Kreb s cycle, and the electron transport train. If they do not get enough oxygen, they start
to create lactic acid because they can only complete glycolysis. Whereas 2x fibers immediately start to
create lactic acid because they are anaerobic and can not use oxygen so they only do glycolysis.

Certain aspects of college life, such as unstructured time, the widespread availability of alcohol,
inconsistent enforcement of underage drinking laws, and limited interactions with parents and other
adults, can create an atmosphere where students lose sight of their academic career and ultimately
their self regulation ( College Drinking ). Often times, student find themselves putting off their work
simply because the due date is days, weeks, or even months from now. This ultimately leads to anxiety
and stress as the time comes closer and students realize that none of their work is done. The solution
to this is to improve the individual s self regulation and motivate them by making them accountable
for their writing. By creating a timeline or set of short dates in which items are due, students are more
likely to follow through with their work and complete it in a timely manner, as displayed with Feltham

The second disease was the Epstein Barr virus, which is also known as mononucleosis, that infected
two students on campus. For diagnosis, DNA sequencing through BLAST was also used to detect the
pathogen s existence in one of the patients. However, since the laboratory was unable to obtain a
sample from the second patient, the clinic deduced their infection by determining their relationships.
The symptoms that accompany this illness include a fever, sore throat, headaches, fatigue, and swollen
lymph nodes. Since the pathogen, Human herpesvirus 4 (HHV 4), for mononucleosis is a virus, the
patients were instructed to rest and antiviral medications were prescribed. Antiviral drugs, unlike
antibiotics, function similarly to pain killers as the viruses cannot be targeted and destroyed the way

Greek life because their culture believes that their gods have a hand in every aspect of their lives.
The significance of oral tradition and folklore in history is the history behind every folklore they didn t
just wake up one day with the idea they were made throughout time
Oral tradition helped the culture evolve by being told and retold and retold. They were spread and
retold across the village, then spread to the nation and eventually the world.
Oral tradition is important for the growth of a community because it is the fastest way for news to
travel.
The culture would change terribly because folklore in Greek is mainly gods without the tradition of

Margaret Atwood Film Techniques
Costume Design is one of the most important factors in the filmmaking process. A single piece of
clothing can change the audiences perception of a character. Contemporary films use costume design
in a way to create a realistic and familiar setting, while period dramas or films from another time use it
as a way to shape a character. Throughout the years, the approach to costume design has evolved but
the heart of it has never wavered. Films are affected greatly by the use of clothing and costume design,
leaving a great responsibility on the shoulders of the designer. (Mandell 2012) Costume Designers
must take caution when sitting down and creating an overall look for the film and its characters.

looks due to the need for multiples in case of damage. Alice also allowed Atwood to create virtual
costumes as well with the CGI process. This meant working with oddly shaped characters and needing
to create virtual fabrics, trims, and buttons. Getting to explore and adventure into the world of fantasy
was intriguing to Atwood and led to beautiful results. (Gallagher

Essay On Shipping Container Home
How to Insulate Shipping Container Home The reason to insulate shipping container home Shipping
container home is a new emerging industry for those looking for something new, sleek, modern,
affordable structure but strong and quick deployed. However, as shipping container home is quite new,
few concerns remain to be responded in order to gain people s trust in its reliability. One of the main
concerns is the insulation. The shipping container is actually built for cargo shipping, it is weather
tight and keeps its contain safe and secure. It is initially designed to carry products, not to house
humans! As such, insulation appears to be an essential issue to turn this steel structure into a
comfortable living or working area. The interior ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
External insulation helps you to not reduce your internal space. It prevents hot or cold weather to
reach the steel surface thus maintaining the internal space relatively conditioned. It also keeps the
water away from the steel and prevents corrosion and helps prolong its life. Internal insulation is more
preferred as it hides the corrugated steel walls from inside and you would not feel you re inside a
shipping container at all. However, internal insulation has similar impact in keeping the building
conditioned but the external surface remains vulnerable to water and moisture which lead to corrosion
in the welding parts, though the containers are initially specially epoxy paint treated in order to resist
humidity in ports and though ocean conditions. However, there are a third option; combination of
internal and external. Besides you use internal insulation, we highly recommend those living in hot or
rainy climate areas to have a second roof and wall sidings in order to make the external more aesthetic
but foremost, it helps you greatly to save the container shell from direct sunshine in hot climate and
corrosion and likely leakage in rainy conditions. What type of insulation should be used? There are
various types of insulation products. Most of our customers choose to go with Fiberglass material
insulation which is the same type of insulation you find in many conventional homes. As shown in the
chart above, at a thickness of 3 ½ , it

How far do you agree that the Hundred Flowers campaign was a trick designed by Mao to trap his
opponents?
The Hundred Flowers Campaign began in 1957 when Mao Zedong declared in a speech, Let a
hundred schools of thought contend, effectively encouraging criticism from members of the Chinese
Communist Party. After members began pointing out where the party had made mistakes, however,
Mao suddenly reversed this new policy and began the Anti Rightist Movement, condemning the critics
whose opinions he had just previously invited. Was the Hundred Flowers Campaign a trick designed
by Mao to trap his opponents?

Mao s retaliation was severe, precise, and on an enormously large scale. He was obviously poised to
attack, and this hints that the Hundred Flowers Campaign was merely a wily method of enticing Mao s
prey.
There is, on the other hand, much evidence to support that the campaign was a genuine attempt at
reform. In his Contradictions speech, given to leading party workers in early 1957, Mao complained
of the oppressive way some party officials were applying policies and hinted that it was time to begin
permitting intellectuals to voice their opinions. Furthermore, in 1956, he had been tolerant of Hu Feng,
a writer who challenged the idea that all artistic merit should be judged based on Marxist Leninist
values, even as other CCP leaders viciously censured him. These two examples show that Mao,
although previously disdainful of intellectuals, may have begun to see their importance, and thus may
have been honestly inviting their criticism when the Hundred Flowers Campaign began.
In addition, the launching of the Hundred Flowers Campaign may have been triggered by events in
other communist states rather than a desire to trick party opponents. In 1956, Soviet Union leader
Nikita Khrushchev launched an attack on the previous leader Joseph Stalin, dead now for three years,
and his cult of personality, Mao probably saw how his own popularity adulating portraits of him were

Frankenstein Vaccinating Children Research Paper
In the novel, Frankenstein by Mary Shelley, Victor Frankenstein takes science a step too far. By
learning the secrets of heaven and earth, Victor brings a monster of his own creation to life and dooms
himself and the human race (Shelley 23). The abhorred monster kills many of Victor s friends and
family and has the opposite effect of a vaccine (Shelley 81). Creating Victor s fiend was superfluous,
but the creation and use of vaccines are not, as they save many people from dying of preventable
diseases each year. Due to the unlikely risk that comes with a vaccine, many parents have tried to
excuse their child from getting them. There is nothing to decide about children getting vaccinated, as
all children should receive mandated vaccinations ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As many are aware, the measles was a huge threat to children before people developed a successful
vaccine for this disease. Before vaccines, an average of 500,000 annual cases of the measles got
reported each year in the United States; since 2000, when vaccines became popular, there have been
about 62 cases per year (Omer). As one can see, the amount of cases of the measles decreased since
the measles vaccine. This data shows how vaccinating children decreases the chances of contracting a
dangerous disease like the measles. Many people in countries like the United States take vaccines for
granted and do not appreciate the benefits that come with their country wide, mandated use. Similarly,
each year about three million children die each year from vaccine preventable diseases, therefore the
vaccines that people would love to have access to could be going to children in need (Greenwood). In
less developed countries, people are lucky to get vaccinated for common diseases, and jump at the
opportunity to get a vaccine. Due to the many who die because vaccines are not available, people need
to accept the vaccines are a luxury. Vaccines are safe to give to children and prevent children from

Protest Against The Chinese Communist Party
With thousands left wounded, a seemingly countless number of citizens reported dead, and a nation
left in shambles, the Tiananmen Square Massacre was an unforgettable and shocking event in Chinese
history. Its significance, however, lies not in the number of casualties but in the nobility of its
aspirations and the power of its legacy. The Chinese Communist Party claimed that the nation, of long
history and tradition, was better off following its own path of political dictatorship rather than shifting
towards Western influences such as constitutional democracy. However, through the Tiananmen

During Mao s time, he strongly stressed his principles of the Great Leap Forward and the Cultural

Mao passed away, Deng Xiaoping emerged as Mao s successor. He launched comprehensive
economic reforms. These reforms aimed to decrease the role of the state in the economy and gradually
introduce private forms of production in agriculture and industry. Because of these reforms,
production increased by leaps and bounds and poverty was reduced dramatically. However, there was
a problem that was arising. There was a lot of corruption and nepotism that was beginning to take over
the economy. The gap between the wealthy and poor was growing and people began to see it as unfair.
Government officials were divided over what direction they wanted to take the country. Reformers
pushed for political liberalization and a plurality of ideas while conservatives believed there was too
much reform and so greater state control was needed to ensure social stability to better align with
China s socialist ideals. These problems are what led to the protests of students and citizens. During

Essay on Harriet Jacobs
Harriet Jacobs Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl was written to appeal to an audience of free white
women and to involve them in the antislavery struggle. At a more personal level, it was written to
vindicate Harriet Jacobs, both to reveal her history and to account for it in a public setting.
Jacobs s narrative signals several significant departures from the literary and social conventions of the
slave narrative, a genre that enjoyed widespread popularity in the United States during the 1840s and
1850s. Slave narratives written by men characteristically focused on the heroic struggles of
individuals, lone figures struggling against the injustices of the slave system. Issues of family and
community were often subsumed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Indeed, her struggle for freedom is inextricable from her desire for freedom for her two children. The
actual and symbolic geography of the slave narrative moved inexorably from the South to the North.
The southern landscape was depicted in terms of imprisonment, confinement, and slavery, while the
North was inevitably identified with freedom. Once the narrator achieved freedom and arrived safely
in the North, the narrative ended, sometimes very abruptly. The North was often depicted in glowing
rhetorical terms, and one important social/literary convention was that one did not dwell too harshly
on the less than hospitable conditions that fugitive slaves often encountered. One did not, after all,
want to unnecessarily offend the sensibilities of one s hosts, patrons, and readers. In Incidents in the
Life of a Slave Girl, however, Jacobs was very outspoken about the racism she encountered in New
York City and the North.
Finally, Jacobs s narrative is distinguished by its sharp, specific focus on the sexual exploitation of
slave women. Other narrators had touched on this issue to be sure, but none had explored it with the
depth and passion of Jacobs. In this regard, Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl was a political effort
designed specifically to help ameliorate the condition of black women in slavery. To achieve this end,
Jacobs had to break deliberately with the genteel Victorian literary and

and John to compare both Montag and Jesus. First Matthew 6:22, Consider the lilies of the field

society and believe his people have only focused on the lesser things in life. Secondly Luke 24, the

Defining Social Roles for Men and Women in India through...
Social Roles for Men and Women in India through Traditional Hindu Texts Throughout this essay, I
will discuss the social roles of men and women in the home, within rituals and within creation. I will
look at the roles of a husband and wife, as well as Goddesses and Kings. The main traditional texts
that support these roles are the Rg Veda, the Kalpa Sutras, the epics (the Ramayana and Mahabharata),
Tryambaka, and Manu Smrti. They are believed to lay the foundations for order in society, as well as
giving people the knowledge of their duty. I will show how these separate texts have defined roles
within castes and genders and show how their different styles of writings have defined roles in
different ways. A person s role in society ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first three are called the twice born. This is brought about by the initiation ceremony (upanayana)
at which they are ceremonially reborn and assume the sacred thread. The Saudras are not permitted to
perform this ceremony. There is also a class called the `Untouchables , which are outside the caste
system as they are too polluted and contact with whom was considered polluting. These people deal
with things that are seen as polluted, e.g. bodily fluid and certain animals. All these different classes
determine a person s duty in society. A person s duty in known as their `Dharma . This is dependant on
their caste, as well as their age and Gender. For example a woman s duty in the Brahmanical caste
would be different from a mans. This is mainly because a woman is prohibited from reading the Veda.
It is believed that this is one of the six things that cause a woman to fall. This was written in the
Stridharmapaddhati of Tryambakayajvan, (guide to the religious status and duties of women). A
person s age also comes into account. The main sources of Dharma are believed to be in the Veda, the
Kalpa Sutras, as well as the epics, the Ramayana and Mahabharata. All these texts have helped to
shape what peoples duties are in life, as I will show later on in this essay. The main feature that
dharma brings to society is a sense of social structure or

Why Salary Caps Are Truly Unfair
The debates have gone on every sense the very first year free agency was introduced. I think after all
this paper is done I truly believe that I will be able to show you evidence on why salary caps are truly
unfair. So let s have some facts that prove my theory with facts from their lives. Most coaches can
look at talent and see potential at such a young age. When coaches see this they push Athletes to the
next level making them ready for the college. That s why you see kids pushing themselves so hard in
the gym, they think they can make it to the league. Look at it this way, in all sports except baseball,
the chances of going pro are less than 2%. So why pay these guys what they worked their whole entire
life for get paid, they honestly deserve it. Let s look at it this way, Professional athletes have worked
their entire life for everything they now have. Salary caps are not a problem in sports, this has been a
very heated debate throughout every year in sports. There s new free agents every single year, with
some of the potential who deserve more than 300 million dollars over the next 10 years. Then there s
some who don t even come close to making 1 million on a one year deal. Many people sit here and
could fire rapid shots on why salary caps should be established in sports. While others believe that this
could stop some people of what they should be making. Thats besides the point, I 100% believe that
salary caps should be abolished in pro sports. I have some great

The House Of Mirth And Gender Roles
The House of Mirth was written by Edith Wharton, a successful Pulitzer prize winning author.
Wharton grew up enjoying the comforts of the privileged upper class during the late eighteen
hundreds and early nineteen hundreds. This unique background is what enables her to write the raw
truth behind the social atmosphere among the upper class. This is evident through The House of Mirth
because the novel illustrates the life of Lily Bart as she navigates through the elite social jungle.
Wharton s personal experience with the privileged upper class society allows her to eloquently depict
the luxuries Lily Bart enjoys, such as extravagant vacations, elaborate events, lavish gowns, deluxe
meals, and fine wine. However, Wharton also meticulously describes ... Show more content on

During this time period, woman were suppose to be seen as ornamental figures that did not necessarily
do much but establish a dominance for their family name in social circles. Thus, men usually looked
for a trophy wife that would highlight their success in the most positive manner, and that was in fact
what Mr. Rosedale was looking for when he initially asked Lily Bart to marry him. Wharton makes
Mr. Rosedale s marriage proposal to Lily Bart look more like a business proposition which illustrates
how love and emotions were not as important as social standing and social power to most of the elite
group of wealthy people. Thus, Wharton further establishes the superficial behaviour of the upper
class. However, Lily Bart was never one of them, even if she was around them, because her morals
and ethics kept her from accepting his proposition. When Lily did spiral towards poverty and social
rejection, she was desperate for any security, and she eventually came to accept Rosedale s marriage
proposition. However, Rosedale understood that Lily Bart was a social outcast because Judy Trenor
and Bertha Dorset had deemed her as such, and that caused him to decline Lily. Thus, when the two
most sought after women in the social circle deem you socially unacceptable most everyone else does
to. Even though, Mr. Rosedale had an ardent attraction for Lily Bart it was not enough to marry her
because his business attitude assured him that Lily Bart would now not benefit him socially because of
her social disgrace. He was right in believing money would not solve Lily Bart s issues because to
become socially established they needed to be accepted by the social group led by Judy and Bertha.
Thus, Mr. Rosedale understood that Lily had failed at her function of being the ideal trophy wife

Majority Rules, Minority Rights By Elizabeth Bisbeth Silber
It is extremely important to protect the rights of the minority people in order to be able to live in a

In an article called Majority Rules, Minority Rights by Elizabeth Bisbeth Silber, Bisbeth Silber talks
about how in the United States, the majority rules, but the minority has the right to rights, and explains
how the U.S. has to follow the rights given to its citizens. Bisbeth Silver writes, A sizable number of

I think that animal testing is a cruel and inhuman thing to do especially if you are hurting the animal

abused in U.S. labs every year? Imagine if you were in the animals place how would you feel, would
you try to do something about it?
Animals are used to test on for things like medical studies, cosmetic testing, and behavioral studies.

And only about 36 percent that are in pain are given anesthesia to help relieve the the pain, so that
means that the other 64 percent of animals are are in pain. I think that rules for animal testing should
be strict so that not every year 100 million animals are in pain, suffering, or slowly dying because of
us humans. There are many different things we can use instead of testing on animals and killing them
like for example we can use human cells or we can use dead humans but the person being researched
on has to know and be okay with it just like a donor. Most of the test that are tested on are for
cosmetic testing, toxicology testing, drug testing, biomedical research, and also for educational
reasons. And most the animals that get tested on usually the drugs work on them but end up not
working on humans, another reason why animal testing is bad. Rabbits get tested on for contact lenses
and after researchers have put the lenses in the rabbits the take lenses out and take the rabbit s eye out.
Humans have rights and animals are pretty similar to humans so why shouldn t animals have rights.
Animal testing laws should be more strict so not a lot of animals end up dying. Animals are an
important part of this world, and if we don t take good care of them and keep on killing them, then
what are researchers going to do. Just like if you take out an animal out of a food chain then the whole

The Theory Of Democratic Peace
The Theory of Democratic Peace has been a topic of much debate over the years. Why is this? There
are many opinions on this theory and many questions are raised when speaking about it. The argument
that I pose is, is there such a thing as democratic peace? In order to address my argument and in order
to critically analyse Democratic Peace Theory, this piece of academic writing will look at a variety of
causes that some theorists state are behind the Democratic Peace Theory and will look at the different
branches of the theory. Firstly it will look at what ideology the theory can be drawn from and how the

Essentially, this theory makes the assumption that if there is a war between two countries, it will be
between one that is democratic and one that is not. There has been some evidence that no two
democratic countries have ever been to war, if we are talking about war in the sense of military action
(Griffiths et al., 2008). For example, 353 pairs of states engaged in wars between 1816 1991 and none
was between two democracies: 155 pairs involved a democracy and a non democratic country, and
198 involved two non democratic states fighting each other (Griffiths et al., 2008). A reason for why
democratic peace theorists stress that democratic states fight with only non democratic states is due to
the reason that, they may be dangerous because they seek other ends, such as conquest or plunder
(Owen 1994). When did the theory originate? Democratic Peace Theory, as it came to be known,
emerged as a robust research programme in the post Cold War years (Daddow, 2013). According to
Rosato (2003), the theory is probably the most powerful liberal contribution to the debate on the
causes of war and peace (p.585)
Now let s talk about the ideology that the theory can be drawn from and let s see how the ideology and
the theory can be linked together to help prove that some sort of democratic peace can and does exist.

  • 3. Song Analysis Of Black Roses By John Bowen In Black Roses , Bowen begins the song with piano chords played hard, but with gaps in between. This is to grab the listeners attention, but at the same time put the emphasis on the words she is singing. As she is striking these piano chords, she sings You can throw your words sharper than a knife/And leave me cold/In another house on fire. Her voice is soft and somber. Her tone implies that she has been defeated by forces beyond her control. The instrumentation at this point in the song is only the piano and Bowen is forcefully striking the chords. This forcefulness is indicative of the forces she feels she has been defeated by. What has defeated her is the relationship with her partner. This relationship has collapsed just as her mother foretold. Bowen chose not to listen to her mother s sage advice and now must live with the defeat she feels about the failed relationship with her partner as well as the damage it has caused between Bowen and her mother. The texture is very thin at this point, with vocals only being accompanied by the piano chords. This thin texture and absence of additional musical accompaniment indicates the void she feels as a result of what has unfolded. The second verse of Black Roses starts with Bowen singing the lyrics She told me twice, all her good advice/But I couldn t see/I was clouded by your lies. The piano remains the only instrumental accompaniment to Bowen s vocals, but it is now being played much more full and constant. It is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Renewable Energy Sources Of Energy The worldwide demand of energy has been increasing considerably. Up to 2030, it is supposed to be 60% higher than today (B. SCHMITZ, 2013). Currently, non renewable energy sources, like coal and oil, are more commonly used, since they are cheaper than renewable energies. In the European Union, 80% of the energy consumption demands are covered by fossil sources (B. SCHMITZ, 2013). But, non renewable energy sources are running out and they are also very harmful for the environment, since they generate greenhouse gases. So, it is very important to discover more renewable ways to generate energy. For a very long time, the only energy source that mankind had was the human muscle. After that they discovered the fire and the animal domestication providing them a source of heat and help from horses to plough their fields. The only other accessible sources of energy that they could explore were wind and water. Sails were used on ships allowing people to move across water, windmills and water wheels were used to grind grains and pump water. At the end the 18th century Europeans discovered the power of non renewable energy sources and started to use fossil fuels, first coal then oil and natural gas. With these new energy sources, a lot of new technologies were invented over the years until in 1700 and 1800 when the industrial revolution occurred. These new technologies based in fossil fuels allowed an exponential increase in the population and living standards. But, this increase in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Disadvantages Of Constantine Grocery As Constantine Grocery is growing from a small family business to a grocery store chain, the need for raising funds has increased as a result of the expansion of the business. A preliminary study has been conducted and the funds needed are believed to be around 135 million dollars. Our mission is to explore the owner s options to obtain that amount of money and to recommend the best option through demonstrating the advantages and disadvantages of each choice. 1 Issuing corporate bonds: These are considered one of the tools used by companies to raise finance. Bonds are also considered as debt and under there terms the borrower has to pay fixed interest, which is called coupon rate, on the loan and repay the principal upon maturity of the debt (Choudhry, 2004). Unlike selling shares, bonds are less risky to investors, allow business to buy back their bonds if they wanted to, and give the business the opportunity to deduct the interest from the business s taxes (The Legal Environment and Foundations for Business Law, 2012). The downside of issuing corporates bonds is the fact that they are loans and they could lead the business to bankruptcy if the business is highly leveraged. In addition to that, business has to follow the market in deciding the interest rates which increase their financial burden. Finally, while the company still retain their ownership after issuing bonds, failing to pay interests enables the investors to control the business through bankruptcy and they ... Walgreens did this by denying their rights to be selected for entry level positions of Assistant Manager or Management Trainees, rejecting any promotions for African American employees in the retail or pharmacy career paths, and placing African American employees in predominately African American or lower income stores. The Negative Effects for Children Born Into Interracial Families The union between Blacks, Whites, Hispanics, Asians, or any other group can be categorized as an interracial marriage. It does not matter what ethnic groups are involved: one prominent result of interracial marriages are the children that are born into these families. Interracial dating becomes a problem because people cannot seem to ignore race. Racial identity is constant, unavoidable, and has consequences that are very real. The color of one s skin impacts how society will accept a person and also determines the advantages and disadvantages one will receive. In his Contradictions speech, given to leading party workers in early 1957, Mao complained of the oppressive way some party officials were applying policies and hinted that it was time to begin permitting intellectuals to voice their opinions. Furthermore, in 1956, he had been tolerant of Hu Feng, a writer who challenged the idea that all artistic merit should be judged based on Marxist Leninist values, even as other CCP leaders viciously censured him. • 30. Shifa Alternate Ending Completely lost in her own world, Shifa raised her face and shook it lightly. With scrunched eyes, she laughed as the rain cascaded down splashing the water everywhere. Leaning on the main door of the haveli with arms crossed on his chest, Azlaan observed Shifa s childish behavior from far under the shelter. He preferred the indoors when it rained. Rain was bad news. Whenever his life took an ugly turn, these treacherous showers were his witness. The cloudburst was his lifelong enemy, constantly reminded him about the miseries of his cursed life. However today, he felt different. The heaviness, which burdened his heart from this weather was missing somehow. Maybe, because he was not alone to face it. As he glanced towards Shifa s direction, ... Unable to bear her discomfort, he tightened his hold over her, but immediately regretted his actions. Her whole frame molded into his drenched form as if they were the exact parts of missing pieces of the puzzle. His heart started pounding inside his chest. What was happening? • 31. Essay on Harriet Jacobs Harriet Jacobs Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl was written to appeal to an audience of free white women and to involve them in the antislavery struggle. At a more personal level, it was written to vindicate Harriet Jacobs, both to reveal her history and to account for it in a public setting. Jacobs s narrative signals several significant departures from the literary and social conventions of the slave narrative, a genre that enjoyed widespread popularity in the United States during the 1840s and 1850s. Slave narratives written by men characteristically focused on the heroic struggles of individuals, lone figures struggling against the injustices of the slave system. Issues of family and community were often subsumed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Indeed, her struggle for freedom is inextricable from her desire for freedom for her two children. The actual and symbolic geography of the slave narrative moved inexorably from the South to the North. The southern landscape was depicted in terms of imprisonment, confinement, and slavery, while the North was inevitably identified with freedom. Once the narrator achieved freedom and arrived safely in the North, the narrative ended, sometimes very abruptly. The North was often depicted in glowing rhetorical terms, and one important social/literary convention was that one did not dwell too harshly on the less than hospitable conditions that fugitive slaves often encountered. One did not, after all, want to unnecessarily offend the sensibilities of one s hosts, patrons, and readers. In Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl, however, Jacobs was very outspoken about the racism she encountered in New York City and the North. Finally, Jacobs s narrative is distinguished by its sharp, specific focus on the sexual exploitation of slave women. Other narrators had touched on this issue to be sure, but none had explored it with the depth and passion of Jacobs. In this regard, Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl was a political effort designed specifically to help ameliorate the condition of black women in slavery. To achieve this end, Jacobs had to break deliberately with the genteel Victorian literary and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the book Fahrenheit 451, the author, Ray Bradbury uses biblical references and allusions to compare Montag s life and struggles to a Christ like figure and how they both fought for their values and beliefs. Bradbury uses the gospels of Matthew, Luke, and John to compare both Montag and Jesus. First Matthew 6:22, Consider the lilies of the field (Bradbury 78) relates to Jesus s sermon on the mount. This bible verse makes Montag reevaluate his society and believe his people have only focused on the lesser things in life. Secondly Luke 24, the resurrection of Christ. When the Pheonix died and ... • 33. Defining Social Roles for Men and Women in India through... Social Roles for Men and Women in India through Traditional Hindu Texts Throughout this essay, I will discuss the social roles of men and women in the home, within rituals and within creation. I will look at the roles of a husband and wife, as well as Goddesses and Kings. The main traditional texts that support these roles are the Rg Veda, the Kalpa Sutras, the epics (the Ramayana and Mahabharata), Tryambaka, and Manu Smrti. They are believed to lay the foundations for order in society, as well as giving people the knowledge of their duty. I will show how these separate texts have defined roles within castes and genders and show how their different styles of writings have defined roles in different ways. A person s role in society ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The first three are called the twice born. This is brought about by the initiation ceremony (upanayana) at which they are ceremonially reborn and assume the sacred thread. The Saudras are not permitted to perform this ceremony. There is also a class called the `Untouchables , which are outside the caste system as they are too polluted and contact with whom was considered polluting. These people deal with things that are seen as polluted, e.g. bodily fluid and certain animals. All these different classes determine a person s duty in society. A person s duty in known as their `Dharma . This is dependant on their caste, as well as their age and Gender. For example a woman s duty in the Brahmanical caste would be different from a mans. This is mainly because a woman is prohibited from reading the Veda. It is believed that this is one of the six things that cause a woman to fall. This was written in the Stridharmapaddhati of Tryambakayajvan, (guide to the religious status and duties of women). A person s age also comes into account. The main sources of Dharma are believed to be in the Veda, the Kalpa Sutras, as well as the epics, the Ramayana and Mahabharata. All these texts have helped to shape what peoples duties are in life, as I will show later on in this essay. The main feature that dharma brings to society is a sense of social structure or ... • 34. Why Salary Caps Are Truly Unfair The debates have gone on every sense the very first year free agency was introduced. I think after all this paper is done I truly believe that I will be able to show you evidence on why salary caps are truly unfair. So let s have some facts that prove my theory with facts from their lives. Most coaches can look at talent and see potential at such a young age. When coaches see this they push Athletes to the next level making them ready for the college. That s why you see kids pushing themselves so hard in the gym, they think they can make it to the league. Look at it this way, in all sports except baseball, the chances of going pro are less than 2%. So why pay these guys what they worked their whole entire life for get paid, they honestly deserve it. Let s look at it this way, Professional athletes have worked their entire life for everything they now have. Salary caps are not a problem in sports, this has been a very heated debate throughout every year in sports. There s new free agents every single year, with some of the potential who deserve more than 300 million dollars over the next 10 years. Then there s some who don t even come close to making 1 million on a one year deal. Many people sit here and could fire rapid shots on why salary caps should be established in sports. While others believe that this could stop some people of what they should be making. Thats besides the point, I 100% believe that salary caps should be abolished in pro sports. I have some great ... • 35. The House Of Mirth And Gender Roles The House of Mirth was written by Edith Wharton, a successful Pulitzer prize winning author. Wharton grew up enjoying the comforts of the privileged upper class during the late eighteen hundreds and early nineteen hundreds. This unique background is what enables her to write the raw truth behind the social atmosphere among the upper class. This is evident through The House of Mirth because the novel illustrates the life of Lily Bart as she navigates through the elite social jungle. Wharton s personal experience with the privileged upper class society allows her to eloquently depict the luxuries Lily Bart enjoys, such as extravagant vacations, elaborate events, lavish gowns, deluxe meals, and fine wine. However, Wharton also meticulously describes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... During this time period, woman were suppose to be seen as ornamental figures that did not necessarily do much but establish a dominance for their family name in social circles. Thus, men usually looked for a trophy wife that would highlight their success in the most positive manner, and that was in fact what Mr. Rosedale was looking for when he initially asked Lily Bart to marry him. Wharton makes Mr. Rosedale s marriage proposal to Lily Bart look more like a business proposition which illustrates how love and emotions were not as important as social standing and social power to most of the elite group of wealthy people. Thus, Wharton further establishes the superficial behaviour of the upper class. However, Lily Bart was never one of them, even if she was around them, because her morals and ethics kept her from accepting his proposition. When Lily did spiral towards poverty and social rejection, she was desperate for any security, and she eventually came to accept Rosedale s marriage proposition. However, Rosedale understood that Lily Bart was a social outcast because Judy Trenor and Bertha Dorset had deemed her as such, and that caused him to decline Lily. Thus, when the two most sought after women in the social circle deem you socially unacceptable most everyone else does to. Even though, Mr. Rosedale had an ardent attraction for Lily Bart it was not enough to marry her because his business attitude assured him that Lily Bart would now not benefit him socially because of her social disgrace. He was right in believing money would not solve Lily Bart s issues because to become socially established they needed to be accepted by the social group led by Judy and Bertha. Thus, Mr. Rosedale understood that Lily had failed at her function of being the ideal trophy wife ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, there were a few people in the class that were able to juggle because they were taught at a younger age or already knew how to do so. We were trying to get through the three stages of motor learning, cognitive, associative, and automaticity stages. During the first stage, cognitive, I was confused and had no idea what was going on in the situation. I was in completely lost when it came to juggling. One of the basis that a democracy follows by is the ability to protect the rights of the minorities, so that everyone s voice can be heard and respected. In an article called Majority Rules, Minority Rights by Elizabeth Bisbeth Silber, Bisbeth Silber talks about how in the United States, the majority rules, but the minority has the right to rights, and explains how the U.S. has to follow the rights given to its citizens. Even though animals don t have rights you should still not abuse them by burning them, pulling their eyes out, or just beating them. Did you know that over hundred million animals are abused in U.S. labs every year? Imagine if you were in the animals place how would you feel, would you try to do something about it? Animals are used to test on for things like medical studies, cosmetic testing, and behavioral studies. Animal testing first started in early Greek in the 2nd and 4th centuries BCE. Some famous researchers from the early ages who tested on animals are people like Abenzoar, an arab physician and Moorish Spain who ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... And only about 36 percent that are in pain are given anesthesia to help relieve the the pain, so that means that the other 64 percent of animals are are in pain. I think that rules for animal testing should be strict so that not every year 100 million animals are in pain, suffering, or slowly dying because of us humans. There are many different things we can use instead of testing on animals and killing them like for example we can use human cells or we can use dead humans but the person being researched on has to know and be okay with it just like a donor. Most of the test that are tested on are for cosmetic testing, toxicology testing, drug testing, biomedical research, and also for educational reasons. And most the animals that get tested on usually the drugs work on them but end up not working on humans, another reason why animal testing is bad. Rabbits get tested on for contact lenses and after researchers have put the lenses in the rabbits the take lenses out and take the rabbit s eye out. Humans have rights and animals are pretty similar to humans so why shouldn t animals have rights. Animal testing laws should be more strict so not a lot of animals end up dying. Animals are an important part of this world, and if we don t take good care of them and keep on killing them, then what are researchers going to do. Just like if you take out an animal out of a food chain then the whole entire food chain gets affected, if we take out animals ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. The Theory Of Democratic Peace The Theory of Democratic Peace has been a topic of much debate over the years. Why is this? There are many opinions on this theory and many questions are raised when speaking about it. The argument that I pose is, is there such a thing as democratic peace? In order to address my argument and in order to critically analyse Democratic Peace Theory, this piece of academic writing will look at a variety of causes that some theorists state are behind the Democratic Peace Theory and will look at the different branches of the theory. Firstly it will look at what ideology the theory can be drawn from and how the two can link together to prove that democratic peace can exist. Secondly it will look at if the theory has helped the spreading of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Essentially, this theory makes the assumption that if there is a war between two countries, it will be between one that is democratic and one that is not. There has been some evidence that no two democratic countries have ever been to war, if we are talking about war in the sense of military action (Griffiths et al., 2008). For example, 353 pairs of states engaged in wars between 1816 1991 and none was between two democracies: 155 pairs involved a democracy and a non democratic country, and 198 involved two non democratic states fighting each other (Griffiths et al., 2008). A reason for why democratic peace theorists stress that democratic states fight with only non democratic states is due to the reason that, they may be dangerous because they seek other ends, such as conquest or plunder (Owen 1994). When did the theory originate? Democratic Peace Theory, as it came to be known, emerged as a robust research programme in the post Cold War years (Daddow, 2013). According to Rosato (2003), the theory is probably the most powerful liberal contribution to the debate on the causes of war and peace (p.585) Now let s talk about the ideology that the theory can be drawn from and let s see how the ideology and the theory can be linked together to help prove that some sort of democratic peace can and does exist.
