The Causes And Effects Of Stress In High School Students
Every year, over 1.2 million students drop out of high school in the United States alone. Stress is
the most important factor in why students give up on school. Being a recent graduate from high
school, I clearly understand exactly how the many components of high school can be stressful.
There are many causes and effects of stress on young high schoolstudents. The homework load on
students can cause stress, Time management is a factor if stress, and Peer pressure is a big cause
of stress for high school students. The stress on students in high school can greatly affecttheir
academic performance, it will eventually affect their attitude, and it s going to have a great effecton
their mental and physical health. In the next few paragraphs, I will be explaining the causes of
stress on high school students.
Among many students in High school, the homework load is a cause of stress. According to the
National Association of Education, a student should be assigned no more than 10 minutes of
homework per grade level per night. Meaning a 1st grader should only have 10 minutes of
homework while a 12th grader has 120 minutes of homework each night. On average, high school
students are required to take 7 9 classes sometimes daily per week. The amount of homework given
to these students sometimes doubles or even triples the recommended amount of homework.
A student s time management can cause stress. Deadlines are the things that motivate us to get
things done. But so many deadlines

Why I Should Not Get Better Grades
I have a grown up surrounded by the bookkeeping, accounting, and tax preparation professions, as
my father has held his CPA for nearly 40 years and my parents operate two successful income tax
preparation offices. While in college, I eventually chose to complete a degree in finance, wanting to
branch away from accounting while still being able to take advantage of the knowledge gained
from my upbringing. However, after having experienced multiple professions, my current
employment as a contractor in Chesapeake Energy s accounting department has inspired me to
pursue furthering my education.
As you ll see in from my transcripts, my undergraduate grades were not consistently stellar with
my average GPA being under a 3.0. While I did support myself through college with full time
employment, I do believe that I should have been able to earn better grades more consistently
while completing my undergraduate degree. My impression of that time in my life was that I
lacked the ability to manage my time and I wasn t able to focus on multiple goals. After starting
a career in real estate, I began to regret the lack of focus that I had while completing my degree. I
wanted to prove to myself that I could manage my time wisely and do well in my career while
furthering my education so, nearly two years after completing my bachelor s degree; I enrolled into
an online master s in finance degree with Kaplan University. While working 45 50 hours a week as

Evaluate the Relevance and Adequacy of the Balanced Score...
Question
(a)Evaluate the relevance and adequacy of the Balanced Score Card as an instrument for
perfomance management.
Introduction
The Balanced Scorecard is a strategic performance management framework that has been designed
to help an organisation monitor its performance and manage the execution of its strategy. Kaplan
and Norton (1996a, 1996b) pointed out that the implementation of the Balance Score Card is to
attain the following goals clarify and translate vision and strategy, communicate and link objectives
and measures, plan, set targets, and align strategic initiatives; and enhance strategic feedback and
learning.

David Norton 1992).With The Balance score card managers the organization is able to cover
customer objectives such as customer satisfaction, market share goals as well as product and
service attributes.
Internal Business Processes
Internal processes that lead to high financial goals for example quality and product reliability, speed
in fulfilling customer needs and also speed in response to customer complaints and these elements
will have an impact on the service to customers. According to Arifinfo June 2, 2011, the internal
processes include improving the quality and reliability products lowering the number of products
that fail, increase speed of service developing innovation process and develop production capacity
hence performance management is enhanced. Again organizations can cover internal operational
goals and outlines the key processes necessary to deliver the customer objectives.
Learning and Growth
The Balance Scorecard is relevant and its adequacy lies on that it gives the organization the ability
of employees, technology tools and effects of change to support organizational goals. A learning
and growth metric (or employee metric) is a framework for quantitatively assessing employee
satisfaction, productivity, and retention in the framework of the balanced scorecard (BSC).A metric

Literary Devices In The Hunger Games And The Road
Oftentimes when reading books set in the middle of societal unrest or deterioration, we find the
characters struggling with difficult, and sometimes impossible, decisions. These types of decisions
delve into an individual s sense of humanity. At what point will their actions carry them over the
line they thought they would never cross? How do you preserve your humanity when everyone else
around you have compromised their own? In The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collinsand The Road
by Cormac McCarthythe theme of preserving your humanity amidst an inhumane society is carried
throughout the narration. The argument can be made that when leaders begin crossing the line and
losing the basic humanity of protecting life, society as a whole falls in line.
There are many different literary devices that are used in writing to enhance a theme or to carry
those themes throughout a storyline. In The Hunger Games and The Road, irony is used in
bringing attention to the theme of humanity and carrying it from beginning to the end of the
novels. It is used in writing to contrast between what is expected or understood and what actually
happens or is meant (Puchner i). In The Road, McCarthy uses irony to show the difference between
what we would expect from a humane perspective and how those left have fallen so far from those
expectations. One instance of this irony occurred when the father and son observed two men and a
pregnant woman traveling on the road. Later, when these travelers were

How Did Pennsylvania Coal Burn
In 1962, Centralia, Pennsylvania, found in the Appalachian valley with a population of
approximately 1100 people. A town put on the map for its richness in anthracite coal that burns
long and hot, though the mine had been closed for years but far from empty. Though the people of
the town knew nothing of what lurked below and went about their everyday lives which included
burning trash at the municipal dump like people did in that time. As the fire burned it creep into
the ground and was lit ablaze by coallong left behind, striking the beginning of the end for the
small, unsuspecting Pennsylvaniatown. The flared for about a month and when workers finally dug
back the burned earth they found it had burned much deeper than they thought. For 16 years the
state and federal government tried to put out the fire and spent 3.3 million dollars on the project

Coal is created by plants that died and fell to the ground, then this plant matter is waterlogged by
rainfall by things like sediment and other plant matter compressing it until over time it is
compressed into a carbon rich rock that burns easily known as coal. Like any fire, coal will only
burn if it has a constant supply of three things; fuel, heat, and oxygen. The best way to put out
any fire is to deprive it of one of those to things, the easiest being heat or oxygen, problem is coal
can burn in an environment with as little as 1% or 2% oxygen and the air that we breathe has
about 21% oxygen and pre existing cracks in rocks permit airflow straight to the fire.(Palus)
(Perkins) The second option is to smother the flames and deprive the fire of its heat source, but the

Arlington s Journey
I believe that giving is greater than receiving. Being able to live in Johnson County is a blessing.
We have polite neighbors, clean streets, and fresh water. This past spring break I was fortunate
enough to travel to Arlington, Texas, with my youth group from my church. As a group, this
would be our second time traveling to Arlington for a mission purpose. As an individual,
Arlington changed me. When my youth group is traveling a long distance, we rent a couple of
twelve passenger vans. Driving to Arlington takes about ten hours, including bathroom stops and
lunch breaks. Every time my youth leader tells the group to go to the bathroom, no one listens.
That is because we are teenagers and do not have the best listening skills. One teen needed to take
a whiz and could not hold it for much longer. His solution was to relieve himself into a water
bottle. This would be an interesting trip for every single one of us. Arriving in... Show more content

We provided Rainbow Express for kids of all ages. We had a few babies and a couple teenagers

though these kids are experiencing rough times, they still emit more loving energy than

only known for a week. This mission trip transformed me on how I perceive life at home. Even

often. We will return to Arlington next year for the third

Art Therapy Effectiveness
Mental Illness and The Effectiveness of Art Therapy Statistics show that 70% of adults have
experienced some form of traumatic event at some point in their lives and up to 20% of this
population will develop PTSD and go untreated. (How Art Therapy Supports Trauma Recovery,
Douglas Mitchell). Art therapy has been historically proven as one of the most effective
rehabilitation methods. Using art as an option for recovery, or a coping skill, is not as
mainstream of a recovery method as necessary. Most people, therapists included, are unaware of
the existence of art therapy and its benefits. A larger gallery of people aware of art therapy and its
beneficial effects will create an increase in its use. By surveying the issues this form of rehabilitation
... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The use of art therapy is not more common for two reasons. The first being that art therapy has
minimal advertising, so it is hard for it to gain recognition. Second, some people that are
struggling with mental illnesses are limited to believing traditional counseling is the only way
to solve their issues. Those who believe this have a harder time reaching out, and stepping out
of their comfort zone to experiment with a new coping mechanism. Only half of all hospitals in
the United States have some type of art or creation program. (The Wall Street Journal). Each
hospital in the United States has an area for psychology, and psychiatric treatment. The smaller
amount of hospitals who are open to, and have, an art program goes to express that most groups
of people are unaware of artistic rehabilitation. By surveying the benefits that have impacted
those hospitals that do offer a program for creation, it is safe to conclude that art therapy is a
successful way of recovery. Most hospitals do not offer an art organization because it is beyond
the societal norm when it comes to therapeutic outlets. Leaving a comfort zone is incredibly
challenging for most people, even more for those struggling with mental illnesses. Society has
created a stigma around mental illness as a whole, that it is not appropriate and should not be
expressed. Every year, about

##ymbolism In The Jade Peony By Wayson Choy And The Yellow...
Many people are represented by their environment their surroundings reflect their
physical well beings regardless of its nature. Literature often manipulates this truth in order
to suggest a deeper meaning behind an otherwise mundane facade. The Jade Peony by
Wayson Choy and The Yellow Wallpaper by Charlotte Perkins Gilmanare two examples of
how symbolism is indicative of a character s physical state. For instance, both the grandma
and the bamboo shoots in The Jade Peony perish due to cold weather, and the narrator s
sense of freedom and intellectual activity is epitomized within the moonlight in The Yellow
Wallpaper.
In both short stories, symbolism is used to portray the impending doom on the characters physical
state. This idea is clearly presented in The Yellow Wallpaper by the image of the bed being
nailed down to the ground and how that reflects her isolation in the room. In the beginning of
the story, the narrator despises the room she is confined in. She is stuck in the room day in and
day out all day [she] lies here on this great immovable bed it is nailed down (p.337). The
significance of the bed being nailed down and immovable plays a great role in the narrator s
physical state: it signifies how the narrator is immovable and can not leave the room. Just like
the bed, the narrator is hypothetically nailed down to the ground, unable to leave or rather do
anything without the permission of her husband. Another example of this takes place in The Jade
Peony with the bamboo shoots dying of the cold, just like the grandma. The whole household are
strong believers of signs, so after the death of the grandma her son went to her garden to look for
a sign. He then looked at the frost killed shoots and cringed: no, that can not be it (p.109). From
this point on we are given a hint of how the grandma will die, which is an important detail for
further understanding the character s physical state. For instance, while understanding the cold
killing the bamboo shoots, the son then realizes that something his mother loved and cared for
dearly died of the same way. Overall, the two short stories share the impending doom of the
character s physical state through symbolism. Given

Diversity and Inclusion Paper
Thinking About Diversity and Inclusion Paper SOC/315 December 15, 2010 Professor Dr.
Lorthridge Introduction This paper will discuss and focus on the four dimensions of diversity:
ethnicity, gender, differences in skills, abilities and personality traits and how they have an impact
in my workplace. To be able to go further in this paper one should understand the definition of
diversity. Diversity is a variety between people associated to factors such as culture, employment
status, education, family orientation, gender, origin, physical appearance, religion, sexual
orientation and thinking style (Harvey, C. P., 2009). Although the differences themselves are
unquestionable, organizations and society often reject them by acknowledging... Show more content

Organizations must stop visualizing diversity as an issue and start seeing it as a benefit for the
organization. There are several reasons why a diverse workforce will add value to a company.
Most businesses, either large or small, work on a global scale; the information age has brought
the entire world a lot closer. Having associates that can deal with different cultures around the
world is crucial to an expanding business. A diverse workforce will help to build more rounded
individuals with experience they will gain from a mixed environment. Customers will benefit
from the diverse workforce because a company that makes a choice to be open and flexible with
its associates will more than likely be easy to work with in a business relationship. Probably the
most important aspect of having a diverse workforce is the vast knowledge gained by pooling the
different life lessons, cultures and experience together thereby allowing everyone the chance to
learn new and different business practices (Sappal, Pepi, 2002). In reality, as you can see from the
positive argument produced above, diversity assist organizations a key advantage in the corporate
world. Culture can help an organization to succeed, when diversity is taken into action, non biased
and properly managed can be greatly effective. There is no doubt after researching the arguments
for cultural diversity that organizations should invest in a highly

Individualism In Defoe s The Fortunate Mistress
The neoclassical time period served to reinvent the notion of how literature was presented within
society, working to introduce several crucial concepts that worked to alter individual perception,
such as identity, and construct new ways of thinking. One instance of this newfound individualism
can be viewed in Defoe s narrative, The Fortunate Mistress, in which a woman recounts her
personal experience and transformation from a virtuous woman to a whore in response to
unforeseen and unavoidable situations. Critical interpretations of the narrative have neglected to
recognize the significance of how Roxana s role in society and actions depict her as an archetype
for the early feminist individual On the contrary, the majority of critics tend to make the focal point
the end of the novel in order to solidify the argument that the story was abruptly left unfinished and
obscure in nature. As Molesworth puts it, a friendship that has thus far been marked by intimacy,
candor, and forthrightness lapses into an unfamiliarity marked by timidity and apprehension
(Molesworth 495). The tendency to interpret the ending in such a manner has lead to the viewing
of Roxana as an unsuccessful individual, who attempted to deny the norms of social behavior, and
as a result of this, was unable to overcome the obstacles presented and ultimately failed. Be that as it
may, when taking into consideration how Roxana utilizes perception and reflection to analyze her
past experiences, using this

Rain Symbolized Sorrow
1) I do believe this is a sad story based on the emotional tolls taken on many of the characters lives
such as Peter s wife. Compared to World War 1 the story is a minor problem: however, to the
narrator, this relation would change her entire life from that point on. Although strange, her
inordinate affection still never left, even after she decided to leave her professor. 2) In the first
five paragraph of the story, the rain symbolized sorrow. It was foreshowing the beginning of the
downfall of the relationship between the narrator and Peter. The fact that it even rained in
Cambridge where Peter s wife stayed, shows how even those far away still felt the sorrow caused
by their relationship. 3. Sarajevo is extremely important in this Short

Management Information system for an organisation. In today s business environment it is getting

Information technology plays a big part in helping companies compete and survive. Companies that

Regular reports help managers perform their duties for example a summary report of sales
figures of a particular period in the year would allow managers to predict sales figures for the
coming year and plan ahead. This would not only help the manager of the store but it would also
allow the person in charge of purchasing stock, distribution, transportation, and finance to plan
ahead of time as well. The head of stock would have an idea of how much raw materials to buy,
distribution manager would have an idea of where to send it to the parts of the organisation which
are most likely to utilise it the most.
Characteristics of Management Information System
1.Management Information Systems support structured and semi structured decisions at the
operational and management control levels.
2.They are generally reporting and control oriented. They are resigned to report on existing

The Spanish Armada By William Shakespeare
The Spanish Armada is about a boat that set sail in July 1588 by the Spanish, and it was ordered
by the catholic King Philip ii of Spain to invade England and take down the protestant Queen
Elizabeth i. Queen Elizabeth i, was catholic but then became protestant. The Church did not like
her decision and they wanted her to become catholic again, so the Pope encouraged King Philip ii
of Spainif he could try to make England catholic again. King Philip agreed to do what the Pope
had asked of him. For years King Philip ii wanted England and he was in need of a Queen and
since Elizabeth i was not wed he proposed to Elizabeth over and over again, but Elizabeth wanted
to make the decisions and wanted to be in charge for her country and she did not want to marry
because she did not want to be told what to do by her husband, so she declined all of Philip s
marriage proposals. Philip agreed that he would give her time and he would be willing to be
patient for her and the throne, and wait for Elizabeth to accept his proposal.
Queen Elizabeth s biggest catholic rival and biggest threat to her throne was her cousin Mary
Stuart, also known as Mary Queen of Scots, seeing how Mary was next in line for Elizabeth s
throne. Elizabeth felt threatened by Mary. Elizabeth was afraid that Mary would take the throne
right from her at any moment. Elizabeth had imprisoned Mary while Mary was out riding and kept
her captive in England. After the Throckmorton Plot of 1583, Walsingham introduced the Bond

Developing Strategies Involves Hypothesis Generation
Developing strategies involves hypothesis generation, creating a series of if then statements. This
process provides the ability to evaluate program effectiveness, to identify significant objectives and
to organize objectives in hierarchical form (Kettner, et. al, 2013). Program design is essentially
hypothesis generation. The hypothesis then gets translated into goals and objectives that provide a
framework for action, a general direction for the program, a timeframe, details tasks, and clearly
states program expectations, which then provides a foundation for monitoring, performance
measurement, and evaluation (Kettner, et. al, 2013). The hypothesis questions are translated into a

al, 2013).
The process of formulating objectives requires that I first establish the objective outcome, to be
followed by the construction of process objectives. Outcome objectives are statements made that
identify expectations of the program, and process objectives clearly state how the service provision
will achieved results. Alongside process objectives are specific activities that detail tasks for
program implementation (Kettner, et. al, 2013).The five components of objectives are: time frame,
identification of the target of the change, the results or outcomes to be achieved, the criteria by
which the results will be documented, monitored, or measured, and notification of who is
responsible for implementing and measuring the achievement of the objective (Kettner, et. al,
2013). Activities establish the implementation plan clearly, include deadlines, and delegate
responsibility.

The Pros And Cons Of A Moralist Society
First, we must understand what a pluralist society is. A pluralistic society is a diverse one, where
the people in it believe all kinds of different things and tolerate each other s beliefs even when
they don t match their own. (Vocabulary.com). Today I m here tell you the positive of pluralist
system. Especially from books of the Federalist 10 and on the use that Americans Make of
Association in Civil Life. I will now critically evaluated these books. In hopes to show how
positive this system of society is.
In the federalist papers number ten James Madison main concern is that of factions. Madison
feared not the wealthy or powerful but the poor. This partly from shays rebellion he feels this
way because the rich are small and exclusive to one another but poor are one of many. You can
relate this to many situations in America. One of these the examples is players strike in NFL as
they felt they were not getting paid equally enough for enduring the hard seasons in the football
league the owners had come gather and pay the players. Kind of like shays rebellion.
Among the laws that rule human societies there is one that seems more precise and clearer than
all the others. In order that men remain civilized or become so, the art of associating must be
developed and perfected among them in the same ratio as equality of conditions increases.
Tocqueville). This positive in my eyes because people are able to come as one as a society. This
gives American greater strength by people

Hunger Games Dystopia
Imagine living in a society where the government watches their citizens every move. A place where
even the smallest mistakes and acts of independance are punishable by death. According the many
sci fi, fantasy authors this is what it would be like living in a dystopian future. Dystopian societies
are undesirable, fearful societies usually due to a government who does not care about its citizens.
Dystopian fictionis a fast growing genre of literature. The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins and
Divergent by Veronica Roth are both books which take place in a dystopian future. The Hunger
Games is based in a dystopian North America, called Panem. Panem is separated into the Capitol,

The flaws in the plans are shown in both The Hunger Games and Divergent by a strong, main
character leading the revolution. In The Hunger Games Katniss is this leader. When she is
competing with Peeta her idea to commit suicide makes the Capitol furious... the one thing they
can t stand is being laughed at and they re the joke of Panem (Collins 416). The Capitol s reaction
to the attempted suicides makes the citizens of Panem aware that their government can be beat,
there is something that they can do to stop Snow. Tris, from Divergent, acts as the character who
shows this to the rebels. She grows up in Abnegation, the faction that no one believes could fight
against Jeanine. The Abnegation are called stiffs because they are believed to be uptight. During
Dauntless initiation everyone is surprised that a stiff [is] the first to jump (Roth 60) when their
bravery is being tested. Tris proves that the Abnegation are capable of fighting. However, the
Abnegation is still attacked by the Erudite, saying that they are corrupt leaders. Tris is the only one
to realize that they are calling for an overthrow of the entire government (Roth 245). She proves to
the city that Erudite has treasonous plans. Without her no one would have been prepared to fight
against Jeanine and start the revolution. In The Hunger Games Katniss is the only person that could

Building And Evaluating Experiential Learning Mechanisms
Building and evaluating experiential learning mechanisms requires a deep understanding of not
only general learning theory, but also the principal ways in which material can be taught to
students. According to authors of Effective Instruction for Stem Disciplines: From Learning Theory
to College Teaching, there are numerous traditional learningmethods that are important for our
background. The first, which they call study based, is based on student focus on materials, without
a strong active component. For most students, especially those of younger ages, this likely occurs
most at home, where students independently study for traditional examinations. The second
traditional learning method, retrieval, they describe as the conversion of study based learning into
an active learning method. Retrieval encourages students to practice accessing information to make
it so regular that using it in later informational synthesis is already simple. The third traditional
learning method, which they call schema building, is learning based on situational practice,
ensuring that students can appropriate handle the real life aspects and applications of a concept
(Mastascusa et al., 2011).
Unfortunately, these traditional methods of learning are not always indicative of modern, dynamic
education. More modern learning techniques provide students with a far more interactive
experience. In one such method, students combine the first and third aforementioned traditional
study methods. Students

Automobile Pollution Essay
Automobiles Consuming Fossil Fuels and Pollution in America
Why do Americans buy so many products knowing they are causing pollution? That may be
because they enjoy shopping. Every product causes some sort of pollution. For instance,
automobiles cause a great amount of pollution. The sad part is that the mass production of
automobiles has been growing larger every year, ever since the Model T Fords came out.
Between 1908 and 1927, Ford produced about 15 million Model T cars, which is on average 790
thousand cars produced every year. Today, the company sells about 2.5 million automobiles
annually. In other words, Ford produces over 3 times as many automobiles today. Over production
and consumption of automobiles induces the consumption of fossil fuels. Consuming gasoline to
run cars was the idea of over a century ago. With the quantity of the production of cars today, it is
not efficient to use the same old method to run cars. Water and oxygen are most vital for humans. If
we pollute all of the water and air in the world, extinction will be our only option. Americans should
eliminate the excessive consumption of automobiles because it leads to overconsumption of fossil
fuels, which causes pollution. Three common types of pollution are air pollution, water pollution,
and noise pollution.
In the past century, cars and trucks have turned from objects of desire into a person s basic needs.
After factories, automobiles are the biggest air polluters of America. Air pollution is a

Tissue Replacement
2.0 Conventional Methods of Tissue Replacement
This section will discuss the current methods of tissue replacement. We will look at the strengths
and weaknesses of these methods. The conventional methods in use today are Biological
Replacement such as organ donation, and Artificial Replacement such as Pacemakers.
2.1 Biological Replacement
There are four main types of tissue in the body; muscle, connective, epithelial, and nervous tissues
[]. In this paper, I will be covering the replacement of both hard and soft tissues. As organs are the
most frequently replaced body part I will be covering them separately
2.1.1 Organ Donation
Organ Donation is the most widely used methods of replacing tissues. Many cities and Countries
have programs that encourage donating your body after death, many with the phrase One organ
donor can save up to eight lives. The same donor can also save or improve the lives of up to 75
people by donating tissues and eyes [1]. Organ Donation is the process where an organ, removed ...

Organs are in short supply and the demand is growing, there are more patients worldwide needing
organs than registered donors [2]. The wait time for organs differs between organs such as three
weeks for a heart, but 15 months for a kidney [3]. Another risk is infection or rejection. Rejection
is where the body s own cells attack the new tissue as it does not recognize the tissue as part of the
body. Depending on the organ rejection rates can range from fifty to just seven percent [][]. Many
recipients will see symptoms of organ rejection, however, this is routinely caught and treated before
full rejection can occur. Infection is also a risk of organ transplantation, while eighty percent of
patients have no reaction, fifteen percent have chronic viral infections, and 10 percent have
frequent rejection episodes caused by infection

United Parcel Service and Ups
United Parcel Service Executive Summary UPS has announced that after more than 90 years as a
private company, it was planning an initial public offering to become a publicly traded company.
In response to this, we will first analyze UPSВЎВ¦s business strategy and itВЎВ¦s sustainability of
its current performance. Then we will look at key factors to estimate the UPSВЎВ¦s market
capitalization value using FedExВЎВ¦s multiples as well as ВЎВ§best in breedВЎВЁ company

UPS between $17,520 million and $30,415 million. Evaluation UPS is the largest parcel delivery

If we benchmark UPS relative to best of breed(BOB) industry premium using FedEx as the
industrial comparable, then we come up with an average UPS market capitalization of $ 30,415
million. Using the 58% average BOB premium for the trailing price to earnings multiple, we come
up with UPS market capitalization of $21,985 million. If we use the 103% average BOB premium
for the market to book multiple, then we come with UPS market capitalization of $38,845 million.
UPS doesnВЎВ¦t seem like it deserves a BOB premium because its only has 15% higher net
income than FedEx where the BOB premium companies average over 200% higher net income than
the industrial comparable. But, since the last yearВЎВ¦s net income was negatively affected by the
tax court ruling we believe their net income in 1999 should be looked at without this one time write
off against their net income which would bring their net income more closer to what the BOB
premium companies average. Conclusion We believe the UPSВЎВ¦s actual market capitalization
and stock value lies somewhere between $17,520 million and $30,415 million. Although we believe
that UPS shouldnВЎВ¦t be fully valued using the BOB premium because of the uncertain future
business and financial prospects, we also donВЎВ¦t think just using FedExВЎВ¦s multiples as
benchmark for the UPSВЎВ¦s value captures the true market capitalization value for UPS.

Is a penny saved really a penny earned? Well not much longer it isn t, people think that we

Penny Wise, or 2.4 Cents Foolish? (Source 1), Is the Penny Worth It? (Source 2), Give a penny
Save the day! (Source 3) The Ever Changing penny (Souce 4). In my opinion we should discontinue
the U.S. penny because it is costing us too much to produce pennies and the cost to produce it is
actually more than it s worth, many countries have already dropped the pennies and it s going just
fine for them, there is already a plan for when we are going to discontinue the pennies, so we are

The Importance And Benefits Of Math Manipulatives In...
пЂ¦Boggan (2010) explained the importance and benefits of math manipulatives. The value of
manipulatives has been recognized for many years, but some teachers are unwilling to use them in
teaching. Elementary teachers who use manipulatives to teach mathematics can positively affect
student learning. Students at all levels and of all abilities can benefit from manipulatives.
пЂ¦Bradley et.al. (2008) examined teacher s attempt to improve instructional strategies for teaching
mathematics in an elementary school. The findings of the study revealed that the students were
more involved in math activities, especially during peer tutoring. The students enjoyed the music as
well as the entertaining videocassette with the mathematics objective as the subject of a story.
Perhaps as a result of the audio, visual, and kinesthetic modes of instruction, students actually
appeared more attentive during direct instruction. Teachers reported that carrying through with
manipulatives and number lines with the fourth and fifth graders helped them to grasp abstract
concepts and become more accurate in solving problems in the math textbook. пЂ¦Kelly (2006)

Abstract
The different branches of philosophy are broken down into six different categories. These different
categories answer the many questions that we as individuals ask as we go through the journey of
life. Although these questions are sometimes complicated and at many times are very difficult to
answer at some time we come up with an answer. Even though the answer is not what we would

Salem Witch Theory Of Ergotism
In 1692, people started doing strange behaviors such as convulsing uncontrollably, or crying in fear
from a terrifying hallucination such as something dark and scary in their chimney. Due to the lack
of medical knowledge at that time, the citizens automatically assumed it was witchcraft and out of
panic, the Salem Witch Trials began. However, with advanced medical scientific experts around
today, the theory that actual witchcraftwas a thing has been dropped. What remains a mystery is
What was the real cause of the strange behaviors? . The only thing that is certain is that it was not
witchcraft. Even though the reasons behind the strange behaviors is unknown, there are many
theories. One of them is the ergotpoisoning theory. Ergot poisoning (also known as ergotism) comes
from a fungus called Claviceps purpurea. This harmful fungus often sprouts up around grains
such as rye; and a lot of bread is made from rye or wheat. Since bread was eaten a lot in Salem
Massachusetts, this philosophy does have some valid points. The symptoms of ergot poisoning
match what the supposed victims of witchcraft had as well; creating another supporting point to
this theory. However, this philosophy also has some questionable considerations as well such as
the fact that animals used for meat could have given the people alkoid poisoning from eating the
fungus or the grains that it touched; or the fact some scientists also say that the people of Salem
Massachusetts were too healthy to have a

classrooms. Will is an orphan who grew up in various foster homes and was physically abused as
a child. Will is also an extraordinary mathematical genius with a photographic memory, who
enjoys solving math problems. Will blames himself for his unhappy upbringing and turns this self
loathing into a form of self sabotage in both his professional and emotional lives. Because Will
blames himself he is unable to maintain a steady job or a steady relationship. Will must learn to
overcome his fear of abandonment in order to learn how to trust and love people who ... Show more

Will did not know what he wanted to do with his life and did not think that he was good enough for
anything outside of South Boston.
Self Fulfilling Prophecies There are a couple of scenes in the movie Good Will Huntingthat show
self fulfilling prophecies. The first scene in the movie that depicts self fulfilling prophecies is
when Will goes to call Skylar but then does not say anything when she answers the phone. The
second scene in Good Will Hunting that represents self fulfilling prophecies is when Will and
Skylar are laying in bed and Skylar asks Will to go to California with her. Will gets defensive and
begins to push Skylar away and they get into a heated argument. Will is defensive because he is
trying to push Skylar away before she does it to him. Skylar tells Will that she loves him but Will
still continues to push her away. Will ends up leaving but first tells Skylar that he does not love
her. The social psychological principle that is relevant to this scene is self fulfilling prophecies. The
definition of self fulfilling prophecy is the observation that expectations about the future tend to
come true due to the fact that our expectations affect what we think, say, and do and those actions
affect the outcome of events and situations . Robert Merton describes self fulfilling prophecies as
the situation where we end up labeling others, and through this we actually influence their action,
and they eventually become

Examples Of Lorenz Curve
Lorenze Curve
The Lorenz curve originated from the early part of the twentiteth century when Max Otto Lorenz
published a paper in 1905 in an American statistical journal outlining the technique which was to
bear his name. However, it was the work on poverty and income inequality by Sir Tony Atkinson
during the 1970s that led to the popular dissemination and development of the original work of
Lorenz.
The Lorenz curve can be explained as an extension of the ogive that is used in economics to show
the distribution of income or wealth among the population. It is a grapgh of cumulative percentage
wealth, income or some other measure of wealth , against cumulative percentage of population. For
instance, we can use this curve to determine the fairness ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The standard framework will be developed in four stages.
First, we convert the wealth into percentages and accumulate them to get the cumulative percentage
of wealth. We also convert the population also into percentages and accumulate them to get the
cumulative percentage of population. You can skip this step if all these have been provided with
the question.
Next, we draw a set of Axis in which the cumulative percentage of wealth is measured along the Y
axis while the cumulative percentage of household is measured along the X axis. Usually the
graph s axes are closed off to from a box.
We then assume that we live in a truly equal society. If this were the case, the relationship will be
such that as we move along the x axis, each 10 percent of household would own additional 10
percent of wealth. In this case, the line we would be a straight line emanating from the origin Point
(0,0) to Point (100,100). This line is known as the line of absolute equality.
Finally, Plot the cumulative percentage of population against cumulative percentage of wealth. In
this case, the line will bow away from the line of absolute equality. The more unequal the society
is, the further it will deviate away from the line of absolute

Franz Beethoven Research Papers
Franz Schubert
Franz Schubert, one of my favorite classical composers, was born on 31 January 1797 in Vienna,
Austria, which is a well known city for classic music. And he has 14 brothers and sisters, one of
them was illegitimate, born in 1783 and nine of them were died in infancy. His father, Franz
Theodor Schubert was a well known teacher, and his school in Lichtental (ninth district in Vienna)
had many students in attendance. Though he wasn t even formally get his music trained, he passed
on certain musical gift to his son. When he was six year old, he began to given basic lesson from
his father, and a year later he enrolled to his father s school. His formal musical training started
around the same time. His father taught him very basic violin technique, and his brother Ignaz
taught him piano technique. When he was seven year old, Michael Holzer gave him first lessons
outside the family, who is an choirmaster of the local parish ... Show more content on

During late summer of 1828, people saw physician Ernst Rinna, who may have confirmed
Schubert s thought that there is no way to cure the illness and likely to die soon. After his death,
he buried next to Beethoven whom he was admired during all his life. In 1872, a memorial to
him was held in Stadtpark Viena. In 1888, both his and Beethoven s graves moved to the
Zentralfriedhof. My favorite song of his is Ave Maria which is also the first piece that I heard
from him. I considered that s one of the most beautiful songs that I have ever heard. I will still
enjoy it once a while. It isn t a complicated song but such a magic melody and the piano
accompaniment that can makes listener cry. There is also lot of covers from past to now on for
this song, and as a new composer, I might do my own in one

Money, Happiness And Happiness
Are you happy when you make a lot of money? It is the biggest controversy of happiness
economics which is a happiness research result of the relationship between personal satisfaction
and economic issues. They had found that at a certain point, the increase in annual income does
not bring much happiness anymore. What do you think? Even if you do not mind the theory, you
can get what you want to buy by graduating from college and earning money with a job. What if
you make too much money? If you are looking through the media to see the life of the jugglers,
they do not seem perfectly happy. It seems that there is no big difference with our lives. They may
appear happy sometimes and sometimes sad. For a long time, people have always been worried
that money and happinessare proportional to the words, Money cannot buy happiness. The freedom
of choice we get, happiness and money are together. The most of important thing in our lives is the
true happiness and tranquil mind.
However, according to a professor Richard Ainley Easterlin of USC in a scholarly study of the
subject Does more money make happier? He stated, Does more money make happier? To judge
from survey responses, most people certainly think so, although there is a limit. When asked how
much more money they would need to be completely happy, people typically name a figure greater
than their current income by about 20 percent. Indeed, if happiness and income are compared at
any point in time, those with more

GM Controversy
By 2008, the recession impacted the global marketplace, as automobile sales declined. This time
period became problematic for GM since the company was near bankruptcy. After weeks on
Capitol Hill in an effort save GM, an automotive bailout package was approved during the
Obama Administration. Gm would receive bailout loans from the America, Canada, and the
Ontarian governments to address the recession, record oil prices, and a serious global
automotive crisis. As a result of GM s bankruptcy filing, the company would reorganize itself.
This meant that a popular brand like the Pontiac would be phased out, while GM focus on North
American brands like Cadillac, GMC, Chevrolet, and Buick. In 2009, the old GM was replaced by
the New GM in an effort

  • 2. The Causes And Effects Of Stress In High School Students Every year, over 1.2 million students drop out of high school in the United States alone. Stress is the most important factor in why students give up on school. Being a recent graduate from high school, I clearly understand exactly how the many components of high school can be stressful. There are many causes and effects of stress on young high schoolstudents. The homework load on students can cause stress, Time management is a factor if stress, and Peer pressure is a big cause of stress for high school students. The stress on students in high school can greatly affecttheir academic performance, it will eventually affect their attitude, and it s going to have a great effecton their mental and physical health. In the next few paragraphs, I will be explaining the causes of stress on high school students. Among many students in High school, the homework load is a cause of stress. According to the National Association of Education, a student should be assigned no more than 10 minutes of homework per grade level per night. Meaning a 1st grader should only have 10 minutes of homework while a 12th grader has 120 minutes of homework each night. On average, high school students are required to take 7 9 classes sometimes daily per week. The amount of homework given to these students sometimes doubles or even triples the recommended amount of homework. A student s time management can cause stress. Deadlines are the things that motivate us to get things done. But so many deadlines ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. Why I Should Not Get Better Grades I have a grown up surrounded by the bookkeeping, accounting, and tax preparation professions, as my father has held his CPA for nearly 40 years and my parents operate two successful income tax preparation offices. While in college, I eventually chose to complete a degree in finance, wanting to branch away from accounting while still being able to take advantage of the knowledge gained from my upbringing. However, after having experienced multiple professions, my current employment as a contractor in Chesapeake Energy s accounting department has inspired me to pursue furthering my education. As you ll see in from my transcripts, my undergraduate grades were not consistently stellar with my average GPA being under a 3.0. While I did support myself through college with full time employment, I do believe that I should have been able to earn better grades more consistently while completing my undergraduate degree. My impression of that time in my life was that I lacked the ability to manage my time and I wasn t able to focus on multiple goals. After starting a career in real estate, I began to regret the lack of focus that I had while completing my degree. I wanted to prove to myself that I could manage my time wisely and do well in my career while furthering my education so, nearly two years after completing my bachelor s degree; I enrolled into an online master s in finance degree with Kaplan University. Literary Devices In The Hunger Games And The Road Oftentimes when reading books set in the middle of societal unrest or deterioration, we find the characters struggling with difficult, and sometimes impossible, decisions. These types of decisions delve into an individual s sense of humanity. At what point will their actions carry them over the line they thought they would never cross? How do you preserve your humanity when everyone else around you have compromised their own? In The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collinsand The Road by Cormac McCarthythe theme of preserving your humanity amidst an inhumane society is carried throughout the narration. The argument can be made that when leaders begin crossing the line and losing the basic humanity of protecting life, society as a whole falls in line. There are many different literary devices that are used in writing to enhance a theme or to carry those themes throughout a storyline. In The Hunger Games and The Road, irony is used in bringing attention to the theme of humanity and carrying it from beginning to the end of the novels. It is used in writing to contrast between what is expected or understood and what actually happens or is meant (Puchner i). In The Road, McCarthy uses irony to show the difference between what we would expect from a humane perspective and how those left have fallen so far from those expectations. One instance of this irony occurred when the father and son observed two men and a pregnant woman traveling on the road. Later, when these travelers were ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 15. ##ymbolism In The Jade Peony By Wayson Choy And The Yellow... Many people are represented by their environment their surroundings reflect their physical well beings regardless of its nature. Literature often manipulates this truth in order to suggest a deeper meaning behind an otherwise mundane facade. The Jade Peony by Wayson Choy and The Yellow Wallpaper by Charlotte Perkins Gilmanare two examples of how symbolism is indicative of a character s physical state. For instance, both the grandma and the bamboo shoots in The Jade Peony perish due to cold weather, and the narrator s sense of freedom and intellectual activity is epitomized within the moonlight in The Yellow Wallpaper. In both short stories, symbolism is used to portray the impending doom on the characters physical state. This idea is clearly presented in The Yellow Wallpaper by the image of the bed being nailed down to the ground and how that reflects her isolation in the room. In the beginning of the story, the narrator despises the room she is confined in. She is stuck in the room day in and day out all day [she] lies here on this great immovable bed it is nailed down (p.337). The significance of the bed being nailed down and immovable plays a great role in the narrator s physical state: it signifies how the narrator is immovable and can not leave the room. Just like the bed, the narrator is hypothetically nailed down to the ground, unable to leave or rather do anything without the permission of her husband. Another example of this takes place in The Jade Peony with the bamboo shoots dying of the cold, just like the grandma. The whole household are strong believers of signs, so after the death of the grandma her son went to her garden to look for a sign. He then looked at the frost killed shoots and cringed: no, that can not be it (p.109). From this point on we are given a hint of how the grandma will die, which is an important detail for further understanding the character s physical state. For instance, while understanding the cold killing the bamboo shoots, the son then realizes that something his mother loved and cared for dearly died of the same way. Overall, the two short stories share the impending doom of the character s physical state through symbolism. Given ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

To be able to go further in this paper one should understand the definition of diversity. Diversity is a variety between people associated to factors such as culture, employment status, education, family orientation, gender, origin, physical appearance, religion, sexual orientation and thinking style (Harvey, C. Organizations must stop visualizing diversity as an issue and start seeing it as a benefit for the organization. There are several reasons why a diverse workforce will add value to a company. Most businesses, either large or small, work on a global scale; the information age has brought the entire world a lot closer. Having associates that can deal with different cultures around the world is crucial to an expanding business. A diverse workforce will help to build more rounded individuals with experience they will gain from a mixed environment. Customers will benefit from the diverse workforce because a company that makes a choice to be open and flexible with its associates will more than likely be easy to work with in a business relationship. Probably the most important aspect of having a diverse workforce is the vast knowledge gained by pooling the different life lessons, cultures and experience together thereby allowing everyone the chance to learn new and different business practices (Sappal, Pepi, 2002). In reality, as you can see from the positive argument produced above, diversity assist organizations a key advantage in the corporate world. • 17. Individualism In Defoe s The Fortunate Mistress The neoclassical time period served to reinvent the notion of how literature was presented within society, working to introduce several crucial concepts that worked to alter individual perception, such as identity, and construct new ways of thinking. One instance of this newfound individualism can be viewed in Defoe s narrative, The Fortunate Mistress, in which a woman recounts her personal experience and transformation from a virtuous woman to a whore in response to unforeseen and unavoidable situations. Critical interpretations of the narrative have neglected to recognize the significance of how Roxana s role in society and actions depict her as an archetype for the early feminist individual On the contrary, the majority of critics tend to make the focal point the end of the novel in order to solidify the argument that the story was abruptly left unfinished and obscure in nature. As Molesworth puts it, a friendship that has thus far been marked by intimacy, candor, and forthrightness lapses into an unfamiliarity marked by timidity and apprehension (Molesworth 495). The tendency to interpret the ending in such a manner has lead to the viewing of Roxana as an unsuccessful individual, who attempted to deny the norms of social behavior, and as a result of this, was unable to overcome the obstacles presented and ultimately failed. • 25. Building And Evaluating Experiential Learning Mechanisms Building and evaluating experiential learning mechanisms requires a deep understanding of not only general learning theory, but also the principal ways in which material can be taught to students. According to authors of Effective Instruction for Stem Disciplines: From Learning Theory to College Teaching, there are numerous traditional learningmethods that are important for our background. The first, which they call study based, is based on student focus on materials, without a strong active component. For most students, especially those of younger ages, this likely occurs most at home, where students independently study for traditional examinations. The second traditional learning method, retrieval, they describe as the conversion of study based learning into an active learning method. Retrieval encourages students to practice accessing information to make it so regular that using it in later informational synthesis is already simple. The third traditional learning method, which they call schema building, is learning based on situational practice, ensuring that students can appropriate handle the real life aspects and applications of a concept (Mastascusa et al., 2011). Unfortunately, these traditional methods of learning are not always indicative of modern, dynamic education. More modern learning techniques provide students with a far more interactive experience. In one such method, students combine the first and third aforementioned traditional study methods. Students ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 26. Automobile Pollution Essay Automobiles Consuming Fossil Fuels and Pollution in America Why do Americans buy so many products knowing they are causing pollution? That may be because they enjoy shopping. Every product causes some sort of pollution. For instance, automobiles cause a great amount of pollution. The sad part is that the mass production of automobiles has been growing larger every year, ever since the Model T Fords came out. Between 1908 and 1927, Ford produced about 15 million Model T cars, which is on average 790 thousand cars produced every year. Today, the company sells about 2.5 million automobiles annually. In other words, Ford produces over 3 times as many automobiles today. Over production and consumption of automobiles induces the consumption of fossil fuels. Consuming gasoline to run cars was the idea of over a century ago. With the quantity of the production of cars today, it is not efficient to use the same old method to run cars. Water and oxygen are most vital for humans. If we pollute all of the water and air in the world, extinction will be our only option. Americans should eliminate the excessive consumption of automobiles because it leads to overconsumption of fossil fuels, which causes pollution. Three common types of pollution are air pollution, water pollution, and noise pollution. In the past century, cars and trucks have turned from objects of desire into a person s basic needs. After factories, automobiles are the biggest air polluters of America. Air pollution is a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

We will look at the strengths and weaknesses of these methods. The conventional methods in use today are Biological Replacement such as organ donation, and Artificial Replacement such as Pacemakers. 2.1 Biological Replacement There are four main types of tissue in the body; muscle, connective, epithelial, and nervous tissues []. In this paper, I will be covering the replacement of both hard and soft tissues. As organs are the most frequently replaced body part I will be covering them separately 2.1.1 Organ Donation Organ Donation is the most widely used methods of replacing tissues. Many cities and Countries have programs that encourage donating your body after death, many with the phrase One organ donor can save up to eight lives. Rejection is where the body s own cells attack the new tissue as it does not recognize the tissue as part of the body. Depending on the organ rejection rates can range from fifty to just seven percent [][]. Many recipients will see symptoms of organ rejection, however, this is routinely caught and treated before full rejection can occur. If we use the 103% average BOB premium for the market to book multiple, then we come with UPS market capitalization of $38,845 million. UPS doesnВЎВ¦t seem like it deserves a BOB premium because its only has 15% higher net income than FedEx where the BOB premium companies average over 200% higher net income than the industrial comparable. But, since the last yearВЎВ¦s net income was negatively affected by the tax court ruling we believe their net income in 1999 should be looked at without this one time write off against their net income which would bring their net income more closer to what the BOB premium companies average. Conclusion We believe the UPSВЎВ¦s actual market capitalization and stock value lies somewhere between $17,520 million and $30,415 million. Although we believe that UPS shouldnВЎВ¦t be fully valued using the BOB premium because of the uncertain future business and financial prospects, we also donВЎВ¦t think just using FedExВЎВ¦s multiples as benchmark for the UPSВЎВ¦s value captures the true market capitalization value for UPS. ... The value of manipulatives has been recognized for many years, but some teachers are unwilling to use them in teaching. Elementary teachers who use manipulatives to teach mathematics can positively affect student learning. Students at all levels and of all abilities can benefit from manipulatives. пЂ¦Bradley et.al. Salem Witch Theory Of Ergotism In 1692, people started doing strange behaviors such as convulsing uncontrollably, or crying in fear from a terrifying hallucination such as something dark and scary in their chimney. Due to the lack of medical knowledge at that time, the citizens automatically assumed it was witchcraft and out of panic, the Salem Witch Trials began. However, with advanced medical scientific experts around today, the theory that actual witchcraftwas a thing has been dropped. What remains a mystery is What was the real cause of the strange behaviors? . The only thing that is certain is that it was not witchcraft. Even though the reasons behind the strange behaviors is unknown, there are many theories. One of them is the ergotpoisoning theory. Ergot poisoning (also known as ergotism) comes from a fungus called Claviceps purpurea. This harmful fungus often sprouts up around grains such as rye; and a lot of bread is made from rye or wheat. Since bread was eaten a lot in Salem Massachusetts, this philosophy does have some valid points. The symptoms of ergot poisoning match what the supposed victims of witchcraft had as well; creating another supporting point to this theory. However, this philosophy also has some questionable considerations as well such as the fact that animals used for meat could have given the people alkoid poisoning from eating the fungus or the grains that it touched; or the fact some scientists also say that the people of Salem Massachusetts were too healthy to have a ...
