Ethical Egoism Essay
People act for many reasons; but for whom, or what, do or should they act for themselves, for God, or
for the good of the planet? (Moseley) An egoist would argue that one acts for one s own self. More
specifically, an ethical egoist is one who thrives to improve ones own self being, with much respect to
morality. Ethical Egoism is the theory that one should pursue his or her own interest above all the rest.
It is the idea that all persons should act from their own self interest in relation to morality.
There are many different types of ethical egoism: Personal ethical egoism, Individual ethical egoism,
Universal ethical egoism, Categorical egoism, and Hypothetical egoism. Personal ethical egoism is the
belief that one should act for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
That is their essential ethical principle. Finally, there is the hypothetical egoist, who argues that all
individuals ought to pursue their own interests if they are looking for coming to a specific end. In a
way, that type of egoist is not an actual egoist; he is rather a utilitarian who believes that happiness for
all can be enhanced if each person looks out after his own self.
A true ethical egoist would argue against the hypothetical egoist. He would not look to increase the
happiness of others, only that of himself. A true ethical egoist must not become a hypothetical egoist,
because then he is no longer an egoist. Nor should he become an individual egoist, because it would
not be ethical. In addition, the truest ethical egoist must not publicize, or even try to persuade, others
of his own policy. When an individual advocates his own doctrine upon others, he is then persuading
them to do the same. Hence, each person would begin to pursue his or her own interest and thus it
would not be to the persuader s advantage, for it will harm his own interest. A true ethical egoist
would convince people to do otherwise, and in return, this will serve the individual s greatest interests.
What is meant by my own good? David P. Gauthier, author of Morality and Rational Self Interest, says
that Either that the thing I get is good, or that my possessing it is good. What he is stating is that good

Essay on Top Ten Mysths of Mobile Broadband
Introduction
Mobile broadband is confusing to many people, not helped by the array of confusing terminology,
such as dongles, USP and USB s. Mobile broadband is a technology that remains bewildering to great
many users, even though it is accessible to the majority of people. To help explain both the
terminology and basic technical knowhow, here are the top ten myths commonly expressed about
mobile broadband.
Slow Speed of Mobile Broadband Compared to Home Broadband
Home broadband used to be a lot faster but this is no longer true. Mobile broadband currently has an
average connection speed of 7 megabytes, this is about the as a standard home broadband connection,
which is generally 8 megabytes. Mobile broadband speed can be increased ... Show more content on

More recent versions are both functional and stylish as they are very small USB devices, some
providers offer a fashionable dongle skin which can even be personalised. The latest dongle has the
added functionality of being able to provide USB storage, and further developments are underway.
Length of Mobile Broadband Package
There are now a variety of contracts available, from 24 months, which used to be the norm, down to a
single month. If you don t wish to be tied to a contract there are many pay as you go options. All the
major broadband package retailers offer a variety of options, as the current market is very competitive.
Use a comparison site to compare the best deals on broadband packages.
Is Mobile Broadband Only for the Affluent
The cost of line rental on a landline is about £170 per year, this does not include the cost of broadband
which is extra, compare that to a mobile broadband package, which has no line rental, some are as a
little as £36 per year, making a mobile broadband package considerably cheaper than a fixed line deal.
You Can t Use Mobile Broadband Away From Home
Whilst the majority of mobile broadband customers use the internet at home, WiFi hotspots are
available nationwide, which allows users to connect free of charge whilst out of their homes and on
the move. This doesn t impinge on mobile broadband usage, keeping their allowance intact. To get
online by sharing a connection with any other WiFi enabled device, users simply need

Hewlett Packard just like Kerzner Office Equipment faced a severe financial crisis resulting massive
job cuts. The job cuts had a tremendous impact on employee morale where Hewlett Packard
established better communication with employees by adopting MBWA method. But Amber Briggs, the
human resource specialist did not establish a face to face interaction. Amber Briggs should have gone
to meet the assigned employees to build a network and cooperation with them. Thus, Amber Briggs
could have gained more support in the first meeting. Like Southwest Airlines, Kerzner s new CEO
Justin Tubbs wanted to build better relationship with employees. Unlike Kerzner, Southwest even
during tough external market maintained high integrity and cooperation with employees. Amber Brigs
like Southwest should adopt personal related currencies that can help others feel a sense of importance
and personal worth that will generate goodwill with team members.
Conclusion
In conclusion, Kerzner Office Equipment was faced with challenges and its ultimate success or failure
will be a result of the development and implementation of their solution. Companies in today s
industries must acknowledge their potential and initiate growth using professionally strategic planning
measures that most importantly involved employees. Companies must achieve their goals

Music from All over the World Presents a Range of Musical...
Music from all over the world presents a range of musical theories. Some of these are documented in
writing whilst others are transmitted orally. Discuss and give examples with reference to both Western
and non Western music.
Music Theory can be understood as chiefly the study of the structure of music. With the idea of both
written and oral notation, it may be understood through recognized systems of indication, and used as
systems of memorizing and transmitting the theories themselves. Western music theory is significant
for its quantity and range whilst those of non Western traditions are also notable in possessing major
works of theoretical oration and literature.

Another method that was used in enriching a melody was by doubling it through the use of parallel
consonant intervals. This practice was already employed in the ninth century treatises Musica
enchiriadis and Scolica enchiriadis , and the term organum was adopted for several styles of
polyphony illustrating two or more voices singing different notes in pleasing combinations according
to the set system. The various styles of organum such as parallel organum, mixed parallel and oblique
organum, and free organum illustrated in Musica enchiriadis were ways for singers to embellish chant
in performance based on given rules for developing added voices from the chant. Guido of Arezzo
described organum in his Micrologus , allowing a range of choices that could result in a variety of
organal voices merging oblique and parallel motion. In most cases, these organal voices were
composed orally, either improvised by a soloist or rehearsed beforehand.
Evidence for such oral composition can be seen in the Winchester Troper ; a manuscript of tropes and
other liturgical music from an English monastery in Winchester. It contains 174 organa where only the
organal voices are notated in neumes which do not indicate exact pitches but serve as a reminder for a
singer who already knows the music. This strongly suggests that the organal voices were composed
and transmitted orally and were written down as an aid to memory.

Color Television In The 1950 s
Color Television
First, I would like to define what color television is and then give some background history. Color
television is a television transmission technology that includes information on the color of the picture,
so the video image can be displayed in color on the television set. There was time when television
wasn t what it is today. Before many of us were born, the earliest television technology, which was the
monochrome or black and white television. The black and white sets displayed images of grey and the
monochrome sets showed rapid colors of red, green and blue which together showed images of color.
Many of the T.V. s were floor models or tabletop bulky sets. Television was upgraded from the black
and white screen to color in the 60 s and 70 s. The invention of color television and its standards are
an important part of television history.
Second, I will explain how color television had an impact in the 1950 s. Television struggled to
become available world wide during the early 50 s. Even in the 40 s there were only 3 ... Show more

time. They could experience and react together when events or tragedies happened. Any cultural
differences no longer existed since shows weren t only in black and white. Many different cultures

and highlights it in a manner that most audiences can relate to and understand. Evolution is the key
thread running throughout this text, signifying its importance to the author and readers. It is
emphasized greatly because that is how we understand ourselves, our past, present and even the

The Effects of Culture on the Economic Development of Cities
Thorough analytic research on the impacts of culture risks are hampered by complexity of such
concepts of art and culture. Culture is by no means easy to master. There are major obstacles in efforts
to streamline the information for the economic impacts of culture. In most general terms, culture is
defined as set of beliefs and values, shared way of doing and understanding things which ties a
community and is formed by the development of that community. Apart from art and heritage culture
includes tradition and religious, way of life, human rights and values.
In this project we are concerned with effects of those cultural activities on the patterns of economic
development of cities. Two analyses have become accepted in the academics. First, we will consider
culture as a product, which raises questions regarding the production, the consumption and the
economic value of culture as well as cultural use as a tool for urban generation and place marketing.
This is category is more closely to the tangible elements of culture. Second, culture as a process which
leads to creative thinking to distinctive patterns of social organization and economic growth. This
covers intangible aspects.
Here, culture is conceived to be cultural activities in broad sense. Activities incorporated within
culture are those dealing with production, dissemination and trading and for education. Cultural goods
and services are in following domains:
Cultural heritage

The And Health Care System
Imagine you are a soldier named Connor who spends many years fighting to protect the lives of
Americans. When you retire from service you continue to fight, this time for your own life. When
veterans come home some of them suffer from mental illnesses, infectious diseases, or hearing loss
just to name a few. You are a veteran that suffers from an infectious disease called leishmaniasis, it is
fatal if untreated. You wait for numerous months to get care from the V.A. medical center. Once it is
time for your appointment the parasitic disease leishmaniasis has already spread through most of the
body. A few weeks later doctors declare you dead, your family is angry at the V.A. health care system
because you did not receive health care sooner. The U.S. veteran s health care system fails veterans
due to their long wait times but can be fixed by applying the triage system.
In the current system, you are given an appointment based on which patient schedules their
appointment first. Some veterans die before they even attend an appointment, causing other veterans
to wait in vain. The reason why some veterans die before their appointment is because they do not
receive care quickly. This is due to the system not taking into consideration the patient s condition
when scheduling appointments. For example, if there are two patients, one with a life threating
condition and one with a minor injury. If the patient with a minor injury schedules an appointment
first, the patient with a life

Informative Essay On Margaret Garner
Would you ever take your child s life so they wouldn t grow up into slavery? Margaret Garner is a
famous slave who was born into slavery in 1834 in Boone County, Kentucky. She lived on the
plantation of John Pollard Gaines and was married to Robert Garner in 1849.
Margaret Garner s background consisted of adult life, education, and family life. First, Margaret
Garner married Robert Garner in 1849. He was also a slave, but had worked on a different plantation
than Margaret (Cincy). They had been married for a long time so, he must have had a very big impact
on her life. Second, Margaret Garner had been born into slavery on June 4, 1834. Since she had been
born into slavery, there is a large chance she did not have much of an education (Morrison). ... Show

First, Garner made it to free territory with her whole family, despite the challenges she may have faced
along the way. The trip must have been a difficult one, with her husband and four children, they could
have easily been caught (36). This must have been exceptionally difficult because she and her family
had attempted to escape in 1856, which was after the Fugitive Slave Act had been passed, so it was
easier for her to be caught and returned back South. Secondly, she killed her daughter so she wouldn t
grow up to be a slave. When she traveled to free territory, federal marshals broke into the cabin she
was in and Garner had murdered her two year old daughter and attempted to kill her other children as
well (Black). She had done this because she hated the thought of going back to her plantation and
having her children become slaves. Lastly, because she murdered her child and attempted escape,
Garner had one of the longest fugitive slave trials in history. This case lasted for two weeks and was
all over newspapers in town (Cincy). It caused lots of controversy, because Garner s lawyer, John
Jolliffe, argued that she should be charged with a murder trial since she had committed the crime on
free territory; this way, she would have a chance at being freed from slavery because she would be
considered as a free person and her children would be considered free as well. But, the court

Organizational leadership means the process of improving actions of line managers and decision
makers through better knowledge and understanding. To operate effectively, organizations need to fit
or align themselves with their environment, strategies, capabilities and leadership skills. To compete
successfully in highly competitive and constantly changing business environment, however,
organizations also need to achieve fitness and the ability to learn and change to fit new circumstances.
In other words, firms can lose their competitive advantage through the lapse of time, therefore
leadership skills are the only sustainable competitive advantage firms can have.
After a colleagues discussion, and a series research, we have decided that Hewlett Packard (HP) will
be the subject of our case study for the Organizational Leadership course project. Reason being, the
HP culture speaks, acts, and operates within their values, which will be further elaborated in their
motto that is widely shared at HP, The HP Way . The core organizational values have been embedded
and practiced by their employees over the years proves that HP is one of the best learning
organizations around today.
Hewlett Packard (HP) is one of those companies that have risen to the top. It is a well known company
with a good name and great financial successes. But is this company able to remain at that top? Could

Once that was done, I recorded these values into my ELN.
Once that was completed, I began by injecting the Ethanol into the flask by opening the 2 way valve

Essay about Thornton Wilder s Our Town
Thornton Wilder s Our Town Our Town is play written a while ago, but it relates to any time. Showing
that routine is a part of everybody s life. No matter what day and age you live in your going to have a
routine. This play shows an example of two families and their daily routines. The whole play relates to
routine even the different acts.
Our Town takes place in Grover s Corner, New Hampshire around the turn of the century. (1900 s).
This play uses a lot of flashbacks. There s one with George and Emily when they first fall in love at
Mr. Morgan s shop. It also uses foreshadowing. When they told of how everyone died. Another
flashback is when Joe comes back after about ten years and they talk about the dead and everyone s
lives.

The dialect throughout this play was universal. It could be used in many different areas and/or time
periods. I thought that the dialect used throughout this book was very similar to how people around
Garden City talk. Blessed be the tie that binds is played a lot in Our Town. This song ties in with the
theme perfectly. Showing how everything is connected and how we miss all the small things in the
world.
The staging is kept very simple. This allows you to think up what they are describing. Which lets you
use your imagination to make it look as you wish. There isn t much to the stage as I said they keep it
simple, for example: for the wedding all they have are chairs set up in rows. The lighting is low
making it easier for you to make your own stage with your imagination.
This play could actually have two themes. Living life to the fullest, and appreciate the small things in
life. I believe the author wrote this play to show that no matter what the time is or where you live your
going to have a routine and the cycle of life. The theme is really developed when Rebecca is at the
grave yard and goes back for her day of life. She realizes that she never appreciated things that
mattered. The value of this play today is great because it relates to us as it will continue to do so for
some time.
I believe the title Our Town is good for this play. It shows that it can be any town and anytime. I didn t
really like that play, but I did

origin of the disaster was the e mail warning from a terror outfit which called Indian Mujahideen.

Furthermore, many economists believe that insider trading leads to instability in the market.
Economists Julan Du and Shang Jin Wei suggest that when the market is at higher volatility, insider

factors include: financial and economic policies, and the maturity of the stock market at the current

When a company issues new shares to an investor, the capitals from these shares are spread to that

instead of making the market even with investors. According to Joel Peress when trades are initiated
by insiders, and the information content of stock prices is higher for firms with more market power

opportunities for smaller companies to expand. There was a study done by Stephanie Roddenberry Dr.

The United States is known as the land of the free because it grants its citizens the right to be

world. One of the most significant communication devices to surface from the technological serge is
the cellular telephone. Every individual with a cell phone has the ability to call any person, place, or
agency at anytime as long as the individual is within the service provider s coverage area. The
prevalence of cell phone owners has increased the use of cell phones in public places, such as schools,
restaurants, and theaters, and their use in public is associated with both positive and negative
implications. Some argue cell phones should be banned from public places because they are a social
distraction, inhibit the user from being able to focus properly, and can cause safety concerns by
interfering with airplanes and hospital equipment. Despite the negative impacts associated with cell
phone use in public places, cell phones must be allowed in public for safety reasons, emergency
scenarios, and to support the individual s right to personal freedom. Only a few short decades ago, the

Effect Of Emulsifier On Ice Cream
In this experiment, we would like to prepare ice cream by using milk, cream, sucrose, stabilizer and
emulsifier. We will prepare ice cream by using two sets of formula. Group B1 and B2 will add the
emulsifier into their ice cream whereas group B3 and B4 do not add any emulsifier into ice cream. In
this experiment, our group (B3) will prepare the ice cream without adding emulsifier. Therefore, we
can study the effect of adding emulsifier on the ice cream. Firstly, we will mix the ingredients in the
orderly manner by using high speed mixer. The stabilizer is not added in this step, it is added only
during pasteurization process. After mixing, we will carry out pasteurization process. This step is
conducted by heating the ice cream mix at 71oC ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The mouth coating is affected by three dimensional network structures of air cells. Emulsifier can
provide semblance of richness sensation of mouth coating by contributing to a formation of small,
uniformly dispersed air cell and protects against texture deterioration due to heat shock. (Clark,
Costello, Drake, Bodyfelt, 2009). We also study the defects present in our ice cream. Based on table 5,
both ice cream with and without emulsifier have defects in its flavor. Both ice cream taste too sweet.
This is due to imbalance of the ingredients used during ice cream making. This defects can be
overcome by reduce the amount of sucrose used. For defects in body, ice cream with emulsifier has
gummy body. It is an indication of pasty and sticky body. This is probably due to over stabilization,
very high solid content and low overrun. Excessive stabilizer and sucrose content will contribute to
this defect. For the ice cream without emulsifier, it has a heavy body. It is indication of soggy, doughy
and putty like body. The factor causing this defect is almost same as gummy body which is high total
solid, over stabilization and low overrun. Therefore, we can overcome both defects by reducing
amount of stabilizer and sucrose as well as incorporate more air into ice cream mix during freezing

Artemis God Of Hunt Research Paper
Many years ago, Artemis the god of hunting was a good man and he always went out for a run in the
morning through the woods. He always saw animals in the woods and he loved when he would see a
big buck running beside him. One day Artemis was going to run 2 miles in the woods. He came to this
house where Zeus the god of the Sky was living. Artemis knocked on the door and Zeus came out and
Artemis couldn t believe it. It was his best friend from 8th grade. They both went inside and Zeus had
made Artemis lunch and they hung out with each other for awhile. It was getting close to dark and
Artemis had to leave because he had to run 2 miles to get home. When he was running through the

Why Is Winston Churchill A Turning Point Of Ww2
The Battle of Britain fought from July 10, to October 31 1940 was the largest, cruelest air battle in
history fought in World War Two. The battle was between Germany and Britain. Britain was sinking
ships carrying Germans across the channel, therefore Hitler wanted to destroy the British air force in
order to stop he called for operation Sealion (the invasion of Britain) by sending the his air force (the
Luftwaffe) to destroy the RAF in order to make it easier to take control of the entire country. Germany
was feared, they invaded and defeated every country in their path. However, Britain won which set a
turning point of WW2, marking the first defeat of Hitler s military forces. Winston Churchill,

The Importance Of Poetry In Poetry
Although poetry evokes many varying opinions among high school students, I believe poetry should
be be taught in public schools because it is important to learn different types of writing in english,
poetry is a way of self expression, and some students end up loving poetry. This opinion will be made
clear by analyzing poetry as well as other literature based on the topic. Poetry is a way of self
expression and various of poems show this. For example the poem, Why Am I So Brown by Trinidad
Sanchez jr. The poem states, Why am I so Brown? God made you brown, mi ja color bronce color of
your raza connecting you to your raices, your story/historia as you begin moving towards your future.

On the blog Why Poetry Is Necessary by Roger Housden expresses This is why poetry can be
dangerous as well as necessary. Because we may never be the same again after reading a poem that
happens to speak to our own life directly. I know that when I meet my own life in a great poem, I feel
opened, clarified, confirmed somehow in what I sensed was true but had no words for. Anything that
can do this is surely necessary for the fullness of a human life. I agree with this statement because
when you find a poem that is speaking to you, you fall in love with it because you can relate to it and
you feel open when you read that poem, it s like reading your own life. Another statement from Why
Is Poetry Necessary is On my good days, I knew better, which is why I kept writing. I knew that great
poetry has the power to start a fire in a person s life. It can alter the way we see ourselves. It can
change the way we see the world. You may never have read a poem in your life, and yet you can pick
up a volume of Mary Oliver say, or Neruda, or of Rumi, open it to any page, and suddenly find
yourself blown into a world full of awe, dread, wonder, marvel, deep sorrow, and joy. This quote
shows how poetry can change someone s life. I was never a fan of poetry till I found poems I could
relate to now, I feel that interest of feeling a flame when you read a poem that relates to your own
story of life. Lastly, a

Escape In Romantic Poetry
Repression and the Desire to Escape in Romantic Poetry
Romantic poetry encompasses many things, involving, but not limited to; nature, the sublime, and
strong senses of emotion. Many of the romantic poets wrote about nature, and how nature strongly
relates to that sense of emotion. Of course when you lack emotion, or you are struck with many
negative emotions, romantic poetry shows that nature itself is the remedy that you may require. Not
only does romantic poetry show that nature can cure, but it shows that an escape to nature is required
in order to understand it, and receive the cure that you seek. It shows that you must abandon your past
struggles, and learn to embrace nature. This begs the question; how does romantic poetry attempt to
show that nature is the cure to the issues that you currently face? Many of the romantic poets attempt
to show that through an escape to nature, you are able to become enlightened. William Wordsworth s
The Ruined Cottage exhibits a woman (Margaret) who is surrounded by romantics, which is used to
contrast that which are her struggles, and her lack of romanticism. This essay will look at the desire to
escape the struggles that the characters are facing through a romantic escape to nature. It will display
how Wordsworth s The Ruined Cottage conveys a message of escapism to nature as a cure to hardship
through a character that fails to escape, as well as how John Keats Ode to a Nightingale shows a
character who succeeds with

Suicide s Note By Langston Hughes
Suicide s Note Not all poems fall into the category of epic poetry or ballads. Some pieces are short
and concise rather than lengthy and elegant. A shorter poem may focus more thoroughly on diction, or
the author s specific choice of words, rather than things such as rhyme scheme or meter. Langston
Hughes poem Suicide s Note is a perfect example of this. Because it is only twelve words long, every
single word is important and chosen carefully. This poem uses many literary techniques, none more
than diction, to achieve its purpose. which is to focus on the split second decision that is suicide. To
begin, Hughes uses his diction to create a distinct mood for his poem. For example, when one reads
the poem without first reading the title, The calm, Cool face of the river Asked me for a kiss, they may
create in their own head a calm, positive or happy mood. The words may remind one of summer days
at the lake or the beautiful view of a river valley. The author does this on purpose as he wants the
reader to be relaxed. With the title, Suicide s Note, attached, however, the mood automatically
becomes more solemn. Hughes gives his readers this title because he wants them to understand that
this poem has a meaning beyond what can be seen at first glance. Nothing in these lines really reveals
a tone, or the author s attitude toward the subject, which makes the mood that much more more
important. The author establishes that his, or anyone s, thoughts or feelings

The Importance Of Best Buy s Corporate Social Responsibility
In today s fast paced world, there are lots of corporations that are competing in the global marketplace
for your business. While many of them rake in massive profits year after year, not all of these
corporations have ethics or give back to their communities. Best Buy is one of the large corporations
that does in fact care and give back to their communities, in an effort to promote growth in the tech
sector and also prosperity for those in the country. They have many initiatives that positively affect
everyone from employees to customers and the environment as well. This paper is designed to
highlight the many things Best Buy does to ensure they are socially responsible. Social responsibility
is defined by Investopedia as the idea that businesses should balance profit making activities with
activities that benefit society (Investopedia.com). I really like this definition, because it is short and
clear about what social responsibility entails, and it also helps explain what it is Best Buy does. While
most people only know Best Buy as the neighborhood technology and appliance store, it has also been
engaged in positive actions for years to help others. For example, in ... Show more content on

teens plan to continue education post high school, and 97% believe they will use the skills they

The Defendants Eugene Wong And Mary Wong
The Defendants Eugene Wong and Mary Wong had been hired to care for 3 month old infant, Kwok
Wei by the infant s parents, The Jiangs, due to heavy 12 hour per day workdays. Because of their
workload, the infant s parents felt 24 hour care was needed for their child, and therefore responded to
a newspaper ad for care (advertised by the Defendants). Upon entering a legal, binding contract for
care, The Jiangs were told that Defendant Mary Wong would be providing much of their baby s care
and that her husband, Eugene Wong, would also be tending to Kwok Wei s needs as well. The
agreement was that the infant would sleep in a crib located directly next to the Defendant s bed. The
Defendants were to provide care in their one bedroom apartment, located in Manhattan, New York
(New York Times, 1993). On the evening of July 3, 1988 The Jiangs visited their child for the first
time (NY Times). Four days later (July, 7, 1988) about 6:30 am, Defendant Mary Wong placed a call
to the infant s father to inform him that his baby could not be awaken and that the baby was dead. At
that time explained she that the baby had been crying the previous night continuously from about 12
midnight until 2:00 am, the baby had been given gripe water (a Chinese remedy), and eventually
everyone went to sleep. Defendant Mary Wong also stated that when she and her husband awoke the
next morning they found the baby unconscious and stated he had turned black . According to the

The Definition Of Risk Management
1. What is the NCPI definition of risk management?
The definition of risk management which is given by the NCPI is the expectancy, identification, and
assessment of a possible risk where a process is started to help take away any possible risks that can
be associated with something or to help lower the amount of risk in which could be used to bring it
down to a place which is deemed to be at more of a tolerable level. What this is doing is showing us
that as we place certain control over risks any type of risk that is similar to these are then associated
with each other. These risks are more easily controlled due to having them all in more of an organized
fashion leading to our efforts to combat these risks to become more effective. This then helps these
risks from becoming increased or even having other risks as a result. The whole notion of risk
management is by acting on these risks before they become more serious we can prevent these actions
from happening ultimately widening our control over them.

Journal Article Review I Lauren Pedersen Liberty University Journal Article Review Summary
Spousal emotional abuse is ongoing, significant problem, impacting nearly 35% of women. Emotional
abuse by a spouse or romantic partner can often lead to negative psychological outcomes, including
depression, anxiety, low self esteem, posttraumatic stress disorder, learned helplessness, and
resentment of the abuser that persists even when the abuse ends. There have not been designated
therapies designed to help these women. Gayle L. Reed and Robert D. Enright (2006) examine the

The women completed an array of measures, including self reports and tests. The scores based on
these pretests were compared to the posttests after the study was completed. Once they were paired
and randomly placed into either the forgiveness therapy group or the alternate group, the women
underwent weekly counseling sessions. The researchers conducted a matched pair t tests and
compared the gain scores from the pretest and posttest for each group. They also compared the pretest
to the follow up appointment. The results of the study demonstrated that the participants in the FT
treatment group showed a significant difference in self esteem, everyday decisions, moral decisions,
and in survivor status. This group also showed a significantly greater reduction in depression, anxiety,
and posttraumatic stress symptoms (Gayle amp; Enright, 2006). The Effects of Forgiveness Therapy
on Depression, Anxiety, and Posttraumatic Stress for Women After Spousal Emotional Abuse
demonstrates the importance finding a specific therapy that is designed to help the women suffering
from this abuse. The results from this study, conducted by Gayle amp; Enright (2006) illustrates that

Economic Inequality Within The Global Economy
Economic inequality can be defined by the unequal access to economic resources, in the form of
opportunities, wealth, capital, land, etc., which determine the individual s or the group s level of
power. Generally speaking, individuals and groups with high access to resources have high levels of
vertical and horizontal power, which in it turn generate more access to resources and power. The
unequal access to economic resources is institutionalized within a society. Thus, economic inequality
has far reaching effects and manifestations in other social and political institutions. In addition, with
increasing role of global economy on national economies, and the increasing inequality in the global
market, which is reflecting on increasing inequality in it turn increases inequality within nations. Thus,
the interest among political economists has increased in an effort to understand stratification and to
create policies which aim to elevate economic inequality globally and nationally.
I will argue that the capitalist economic system is inherently unequal. Farther more, it thrives on
creating highly level of economic inequality, where resources and capital is concentrated in the hands
of the economic elite, while the rest of the population service to provide cheap labor (specialized on
non specialized) which increase economic, social, and political inequality in a society. For that reason,
I don t believe that economic policies can end inequality globally or national (short from

Ancient Egypt Religion
The Egyptians had a very strong religion. The characteristics of the Ancient Egyptian religion can be
divided into five elements of authority, faith, rituals, moral code, and the gods worshipped. The main
authority of the Egyptian religion was the Pharaoh, he had divine right over the people and was
considered a god. Also, he could change the religion any way he wanted. Religion in Egypt played a
very significant role. Their religion was greatly inspired by different customs and traditions. Egyptians
main goals were to mirror the conditions which they believed existed at the beginning of
creation.Egypt was governed by the pharaohs who were given the authority at the command of the
Egyptian gods. This belief was so strong in ancient Egypt that all through the nation s history
pharaohs assured the public that they had obtained the power to reign from the ancient Egyptian gods.
Throughout the 3000 year period of the religion of Egypt was encompassed of a very complicated
system of Egyptian gods and goddesses. They were the one who studied the knowledge of both the
sacred mystery teachings and the religious philosophies of the times. Pharaoh appointed different high
priests to perform the sacred rituals at different temple because he could not carry out ceremonies at

of the implementation, as discussed at the Wannsee conference, as outlined by the Nazi regime was
meant for the soul purpose of eliminating the Jews from German society, whether that was by mass
immigration, deportations, and/or killings. There are, of course, other examples of this seen. One of

Abstract
Thromboembolism is a major source of morbidity and mortality in patients with cancer. An increased
incidence of venous thromboembolism (VTE) is associated with anti vascular endothelial growth

  • 2. Ethical Egoism Essay People act for many reasons; but for whom, or what, do or should they act for themselves, for God, or for the good of the planet? (Moseley) An egoist would argue that one acts for one s own self. More specifically, an ethical egoist is one who thrives to improve ones own self being, with much respect to morality. Ethical Egoism is the theory that one should pursue his or her own interest above all the rest. It is the idea that all persons should act from their own self interest in relation to morality. There are many different types of ethical egoism: Personal ethical egoism, Individual ethical egoism, Universal ethical egoism, Categorical egoism, and Hypothetical egoism. Personal ethical egoism is the belief that one should act for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... That is their essential ethical principle. Finally, there is the hypothetical egoist, who argues that all individuals ought to pursue their own interests if they are looking for coming to a specific end. In a way, that type of egoist is not an actual egoist; he is rather a utilitarian who believes that happiness for all can be enhanced if each person looks out after his own self. A true ethical egoist would argue against the hypothetical egoist. He would not look to increase the happiness of others, only that of himself. A true ethical egoist must not become a hypothetical egoist, because then he is no longer an egoist. Nor should he become an individual egoist, because it would not be ethical. In addition, the truest ethical egoist must not publicize, or even try to persuade, others of his own policy. When an individual advocates his own doctrine upon others, he is then persuading them to do the same. Hence, each person would begin to pursue his or her own interest and thus it would not be to the persuader s advantage, for it will harm his own interest. A true ethical egoist would convince people to do otherwise, and in return, this will serve the individual s greatest interests. What is meant by my own good? David P. Gauthier, author of Morality and Rational Self Interest, says that Either that the thing I get is good, or that my possessing it is good. What he is stating is that good can differ in ... • 5. Music from All over the World Presents a Range of Musical... Music from all over the world presents a range of musical theories. Some of these are documented in writing whilst others are transmitted orally. Discuss and give examples with reference to both Western and non Western music. Music Theory can be understood as chiefly the study of the structure of music. With the idea of both written and oral notation, it may be understood through recognized systems of indication, and used as systems of memorizing and transmitting the theories themselves. Western music theory is significant for its quantity and range whilst those of non Western traditions are also notable in possessing major works of theoretical oration and literature. Another method that was used in enriching a melody was by doubling it through the use of parallel consonant intervals. This practice was already employed in the ninth century treatises Musica enchiriadis and Scolica enchiriadis , and the term organum was adopted for several styles of polyphony illustrating two or more voices singing different notes in pleasing combinations according to the set system. The various styles of organum such as parallel organum, mixed parallel and oblique organum, and free organum illustrated in Musica enchiriadis were ways for singers to embellish chant in performance based on given rules for developing added voices from the chant. Guido of Arezzo described organum in his Micrologus , allowing a range of choices that could result in a variety of organal voices merging oblique and parallel motion. In most cases, these organal voices were composed orally, either improvised by a soloist or rehearsed beforehand. Evidence for such oral composition can be seen in the Winchester Troper ; a manuscript of tropes and other liturgical music from an English monastery in Winchester. It contains 174 organa where only the organal voices are notated in neumes which do not indicate exact pitches but serve as a reminder for a singer who already knows the music. This strongly suggests that the organal voices were composed and transmitted orally and were written down as an aid to memory. The earliest ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Color television is a television transmission technology that includes information on the color of the picture, so the video image can be displayed in color on the television set. There was time when television wasn t what it is today. Before many of us were born, the earliest television technology, which was the monochrome or black and white television. The black and white sets displayed images of grey and the monochrome sets showed rapid colors of red, green and blue which together showed images of color. Many of the T.V. s were floor models or tabletop bulky sets. Television was upgraded from the black and white screen to color in the 60 s and 70 s. The invention of color television and its standards are an important part of television history. Second, I will explain how color television had an impact in the 1950 s. Any cultural differences no longer existed since shows weren t only in black and white. Many different cultures were able to learn about each other through shows or documentaries. • 8. The Effects of Culture on the Economic Development of Cities Thorough analytic research on the impacts of culture risks are hampered by complexity of such concepts of art and culture. Culture is by no means easy to master. There are major obstacles in efforts to streamline the information for the economic impacts of culture. In most general terms, culture is defined as set of beliefs and values, shared way of doing and understanding things which ties a community and is formed by the development of that community. Apart from art and heritage culture includes tradition and religious, way of life, human rights and values. In this project we are concerned with effects of those cultural activities on the patterns of economic development of cities. Two analyses have become accepted in the academics. First, we will consider culture as a product, which raises questions regarding the production, the consumption and the economic value of culture as well as cultural use as a tool for urban generation and place marketing. This is category is more closely to the tangible elements of culture. Second, culture as a process which leads to creative thinking to distinctive patterns of social organization and economic growth. This covers intangible aspects. Here, culture is conceived to be cultural activities in broad sense. You are a veteran that suffers from an infectious disease called leishmaniasis, it is fatal if untreated. You wait for numerous months to get care from the V.A. medical center. Once it is time for your appointment the parasitic disease leishmaniasis has already spread through most of the body. A few weeks later doctors declare you dead, your family is angry at the V.A. health care system because you did not receive health care sooner. The U.S. veteran s health care system fails veterans due to their long wait times but can be fixed by applying the triage system. In the current system, you are given an appointment based on which patient schedules their appointment first. Some veterans die before they even attend an appointment, causing other veterans to wait in vain. The reason why some veterans die before their appointment is because they do not receive care quickly. This is due to the system not taking into consideration the patient s condition when scheduling appointments. For example, if there are two patients, one with a life threating condition and one with a minor injury. If the patient with a minor injury schedules an appointment first, the patient with a life ... • 10. Informative Essay On Margaret Garner Would you ever take your child s life so they wouldn t grow up into slavery? Margaret Garner is a famous slave who was born into slavery in 1834 in Boone County, Kentucky. She lived on the plantation of John Pollard Gaines and was married to Robert Garner in 1849. Margaret Garner s background consisted of adult life, education, and family life. First, Margaret Garner married Robert Garner in 1849. He was also a slave, but had worked on a different plantation than Margaret (Cincy). They had been married for a long time so, he must have had a very big impact on her life. Second, Margaret Garner had been born into slavery on June 4, 1834. Since she had been born into slavery, there is a large chance she did not have much of an education (Morrison). ... The trip must have been a difficult one, with her husband and four children, they could have easily been caught (36). This must have been exceptionally difficult because she and her family had attempted to escape in 1856, which was after the Fugitive Slave Act had been passed, so it was easier for her to be caught and returned back South. Secondly, she killed her daughter so she wouldn t grow up to be a slave. When she traveled to free territory, federal marshals broke into the cabin she was in and Garner had murdered her two year old daughter and attempted to kill her other children as well (Black). She had done this because she hated the thought of going back to her plantation and having her children become slaves. Lastly, because she murdered her child and attempted escape, Garner had one of the longest fugitive slave trials in history. This case lasted for two weeks and was all over newspapers in town (Cincy). It caused lots of controversy, because Garner s lawyer, John Jolliffe, argued that she should be charged with a murder trial since she had committed the crime on free territory; this way, she would have a chance at being freed from slavery because she would be considered as a free person and her children would be considered free as well. Living life to the fullest, and appreciate the small things in life. I believe the author wrote this play to show that no matter what the time is or where you live your going to have a routine and the cycle of life. The theme is really developed when Rebecca is at the grave yard and goes back for her day of life. She realizes that she never appreciated things that mattered. Individuals are no longer limited to letter writing and sending telegrams to convey a verbal message. E mails, text messaging, video chat, instant messenger, and various social media outlets are all platforms for human communication in the modern world. One of the most significant communication devices to surface from the technological serge is the cellular telephone. Both ice cream taste too sweet. This is due to imbalance of the ingredients used during ice cream making. This defects can be overcome by reduce the amount of sucrose used. For defects in body, ice cream with emulsifier has gummy body. It is an indication of pasty and sticky body. This is probably due to over stabilization, very high solid content and low overrun. Excessive stabilizer and sucrose content will contribute to this defect. For the ice cream without emulsifier, it has a heavy body. It is indication of soggy, doughy and putty like body. Escape In Romantic Poetry Repression and the Desire to Escape in Romantic Poetry Romantic poetry encompasses many things, involving, but not limited to; nature, the sublime, and strong senses of emotion. Many of the romantic poets wrote about nature, and how nature strongly relates to that sense of emotion. Of course when you lack emotion, or you are struck with many negative emotions, romantic poetry shows that nature itself is the remedy that you may require. Not only does romantic poetry show that nature can cure, but it shows that an escape to nature is required in order to understand it, and receive the cure that you seek. It shows that you must abandon your past struggles, and learn to embrace nature. This begs the question; how does romantic poetry attempt to show that nature is the cure to the issues that you currently face? Many of the romantic poets attempt to show that through an escape to nature, you are able to become enlightened. A shorter poem may focus more thoroughly on diction, or the author s specific choice of words, rather than things such as rhyme scheme or meter. Langston Hughes poem Suicide s Note is a perfect example of this. Because it is only twelve words long, every single word is important and chosen carefully. This poem uses many literary techniques, none more than diction, to achieve its purpose. which is to focus on the split second decision that is suicide. To begin, Hughes uses his diction to create a distinct mood for his poem. For example, when one reads the poem without first reading the title, The calm, Cool face of the river Asked me for a kiss, they may create in their own head a calm, positive or happy mood. The words may remind one of summer days at the lake or the beautiful view of a river valley. The author does this on purpose as he wants the reader to be relaxed. With the title, Suicide s Note, attached, however, the mood automatically becomes more solemn. Hughes gives his readers this title because he wants them to understand that this poem has a meaning beyond what can be seen at first glance. Nothing in these lines really reveals a tone, or the author s attitude toward the subject, which makes the mood that much more more important. The author establishes that his, or anyone s, thoughts or feelings ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 31. The Definition Of Risk Management 1. What is the NCPI definition of risk management? The definition of risk management which is given by the NCPI is the expectancy, identification, and assessment of a possible risk where a process is started to help take away any possible risks that can be associated with something or to help lower the amount of risk in which could be used to bring it down to a place which is deemed to be at more of a tolerable level. What this is doing is showing us that as we place certain control over risks any type of risk that is similar to these are then associated with each other. These risks are more easily controlled due to having them all in more of an organized fashion leading to our efforts to combat these risks to become more effective. This then helps these risks from becoming increased or even having other risks as a result. The whole notion of risk management is by acting on these risks before they become more serious we can prevent these actions from happening ultimately widening our control over them. 2. Generally speaking, individuals and groups with high access to resources have high levels of vertical and horizontal power, which in it turn generate more access to resources and power. The unequal access to economic resources is institutionalized within a society. Thus, economic inequality has far reaching effects and manifestations in other social and political institutions. In addition, with increasing role of global economy on national economies, and the increasing inequality in the global market, which is reflecting on increasing inequality in it turn increases inequality within nations. Thus, the interest among political economists has increased in an effort to understand stratification and to create policies which aim to elevate economic inequality globally and nationally. I will argue that the capitalist economic system is inherently unequal. Farther more, it thrives on creating highly level of economic inequality, where resources and capital is concentrated in the hands of the economic elite, while the rest of the population service to provide cheap labor (specialized on non specialized) which increase economic, social, and political inequality in a society. For that reason, I don t believe that economic policies can end inequality globally or national (short from ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Until this point, it wasn t officially outlined as to what the goal of the Nazi regime was. However, through the displays of propaganda seen in previous stages thought this paper, it is clear what their intentions were. Abstract Thromboembolism is a major source of morbidity and mortality in patients with cancer. An increased incidence of venous thromboembolism (VTE) is associated with anti vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) treatment in cancer. However, the mechanism of VTE initiation remains elusive. In this study, we examined the effect of bevacizumab, a humanized monoclonal antibody against VEGF A, on either an inferior vena cava stenosis or saphenous vein model in a xenograft mouse model.
