How Ut Camp Changed My Life
ut camp really changed my life. This happened while I was new to Boy Scouts. It started off
with me at my house and my parents wanting me to go camping. The problem was that I did not
want to go to camp and be by myself for a week. In this, even me and I was extremely shy,
nervous, and, dependent. My friend was about the same at that time. There was a leader that
was kind, caring and understanding. The mood went from sad to happy and the tone went from
depressing to exciting. This event changed my life for the good. That day that I traveled to
camp, I was scared. I knew that it would be very far away from home and I would be far away from
home for a long time. Even though I pleaded to stay home my parents kept saying, You will enjoy
camping.

The Misunderstanding of Humans Relationship with Nature Essay
11 And God said, let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding
fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so. (The Bible, Genesis. 1 11)
God created earth with all what it has from minerals and rocks to plants and animals. He also made
the nature in a unique way. After that, God created humans and gave them dominion over the other
species and creations. 28 And god blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply,
and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the
fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth. (The Bible, Genesis. 1 28)

The world population is growing and growing rapidly, and as the population increase, we require
and consume more of the resources we need to survive. Our resources are decreasing as our
numbers increase. We eat more and more. For example, fishermen on the Chesapeake Bay,
according to Larry Simons (Poisoned Waters), are getting less fish, oysters and crabs. The variety
of what they get is also decreasing since many sea animals became extinct in that bay like shad,
yellow perch and tarpon. Humans are overfishing the resources causing them to disappear. Another
kind of animals that we consume on a daily basis is chicken. Chicken is one of the most common
types of meat that we eat. As the demand on chicken increase, prices increase too. Small
independent businesses cannot reduce their prices since their production is limited. This led big
businesses to be in the lead in mass production with their lower prices. As the chairman of Perdue
farms, one of the biggest chicken farms in the U.S., Jim Perdue said: I think things had to
become bigger in order to keep costs lower. As chicken production increase, their manure also
increases. Small businesses could deal with their chickens manure by absorption because it was
not a lot. On the other hand, big businesses with their mass production, they produce a lot of
manure. What big businesses, like Perdue, do is they dumb it in a river which then goes to the bay.
As they dumb a lot of it, it

INTRODUCTION:DATA : Data is a collection of facts, which is in unorganized but they can be
organized into useful form. Data is of two types :1.Raw Data : It is a Data which are collected from
different sources and has no meaning. ` 2. Derived Data : It is a data that are extracted from Raw

Promotes the Habits of Savings and Investment:
The stock market offers attractive opportunities of investment in various securities. These attractive
opportunities encourage people to save more and invest in securities of corporate sector rather than
investing in unproductive assets such as gold, silver, etc.
Capital Market
The capital market is a market for financial assets which have a long or indefinite maturity.
Generally, it deals with long term securities which have a period of above one year .In the widest
sense, it consists of a series of channels through which the savings of the community made available
for industrial and commercial enterprises and public authorities.
Capital Market consists of:
Primary market and

Primary market is market for new issues or new financial claims. Hence it is also called as New

Essay on Vitamin C
Vitamin C is an essential in the body s defenses against infection. Susceptible children will not
tolerate relatively unimportant infections and this can lead to prolonged illness and in the case of
behaviorally disturbed children of symptoms previously well managed. Vitamin C is an extremely
safe substance which is immensely beneficial to the brain and body in a multitude of ways. Its
potential for preventing and treating autism has barely been touched. Vitamin Cis heavily
concentrated in the brain, but its exact role in brain function has not been fully understood. A recent
search turned up 400 references referring to vitamin C and the effects of the brain, but the mystery
still remains.
Since the 1960s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Vitamin C in autism? Has vitamin C been used in the treatment of autism? I was only able to find
only one study in which vitamin C was evaluated as an intervention in autism. The study was
initiated by Dolske. The study consisted of a 30 week double blind, placebo controlled trial of 52
mg/lb. per day as a treatment for 18 autistic children (ages 6 to 19) in a residential setting.
Statistically significant improvement on various outcome measures was reported. But vitamin C is
extremely safe, even in massive doses, so it would be well to find out what the optimal dose for
autism might be.
We might ask ourselves, what is the safe dose of vitamin C? A lot. Vitamin C expert Robert
Cathcart proposes the quot;bowel tolerance quot; method of determining one s own vitamin C
requirement. You simply take increasingly large amounts of vitamin C each day until your body
reaches the vitamin C saturation point. Going beyond that level, the vitamin C becomes a
laxative. For most people in good health, the well tolerated level tends to be about 10 to 15
grams of vitamin C per day. If you start to get sick, your body requires more vitamin C, and your
quot;bowel tolerance quot; may rise to 30 or 100 or more grams per day. But, according to
Cathcart and other experts on vitamin C, increasing your input when you are sick will dramatically
abbreviate your illness.

A Hero’s Breakdown Essay
Ideas abound of what true heroism is in this day and age. To some, a true hero may be the person
that led their favorite sports team to a championship. To others, true heroes are the doctors that
helped a loved one get better from a serious illness. Some even see the person that gives them
inspiration on a day to day basis as a true hero. To many, however, a true hero is so much more
than that. To many, a true hero is the one that goes the extra mile t follow a strict moral code, both
at home and in the public eye. A true hero is the one who will stand up for what he or she believes
and what is right, no matter what the consequences may be. A true hero gives hope for humanity to
the masses. Atticus Finch, from Harper Lee s To Kill A... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The values that his children learn from him help them to become good and upstanding citizens
of Maycomb, while giving them a better understanding of the world and why things happen the
way that they do. If no one else s, he is definitely Scout and Jem s hero (Santos 210). Atticus has
a strong understanding of the nature of humans, and that sets him apart from all the rest of
Maycomb. He knows that what he is doing for Tom Robinson is not going to be well received by
his community, and he knows why they are so against him (Powell). The people of Maycomb are
scared of a coming change, and he understands where they are coming from. His refusal to give up
and keep pushing, even though it somewhat hurts his reputation, is a hard feat to overcome. Even
though he loses his case, his standing up for what is right despite the amount of hate he received is
a very important thing (Atticus).
For the African American population, times were especially hard. They knew that there was no
hope for Tom, but Atticus gave hope to them for a whole new reason. They were given hope for a
past due change in the behavior of their society. When the Caucasian population learned that a
white man was going to be defending a black man in court to his fullest abilities they thought was a
terrible thing. It just was not thought of, and when it finally was thought of it planted a seed in
their minds. The seed that was put into the people of Maycomb s

Black Widow Spiders Essay
Adult black widow spiders have a shiny, black, rounded, circular abdomen and
are about 1/3 inch long (about 1 1/2 inches when their legs are spread).
Adult spiders have two reddish or yellowish triangles on their bottom which
looks like an hourglass marking, and their body color is dark colored usually
black or sometimes dark brown. They are usually recognized because of their
red or red orange hourglass design on the bottom of their abdomen. This
pattern is changeable and may look like two separated spots. In some spiders
there is no pattern on the abdomen. The immature stages of both sexes of the
widow spiders have red or red orange or yellow spots and strips on the top
of their abdomen. Females are colored gray ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Death usually results
from respiratory paralysis. People with a history of high blood pressure are
at the greatest risk. But immediate medical treatment can reduce the danger
from widow bites and has reduced fatalities to very low rates in recent
years. However, this spider is considered the most venomous spider in North
America.
If you are bitten stay calm, get the spider, if you can for positive
identification and because of the possible severity of black widow bites you
should get immediate medical attention is important. If you apply an
antiseptic such as iodine or hydrogen peroxide prevents infection.
Physicians can inject calcium gluconate to help the effects of the toxin so
it is less harmful. This helps support levels of calcium salts that are low
by the effects of a bite. You can also get black widow antiserum. Since the
toxin moves quickly through the body trying to suck out the poison doesn t
work. People younger than 16 and older than 60, especially those with a
heart condition might have to stay at a hospital.
The black widow spider is shy and usually not aggressive and bites can be
rare even when there are lots of them. The adult female spiders usually stay
in their webs unless they have to because of the temperature or if their web
gets destroyed. They do not search for food and they eat the insects they
get in their webs and are eaten when they get to them. Human bites

Olive Garden Serving Process
Executive Summary Olive Garden is committed to providing every guest with a genuine Italian
dining experience and make the guest feel like they are family; in Italian it is called Hospitaliano!
In an effort to have competitive advantage over other chain restaurants, Olive Garden emphasizes
comprehensive employee trainings in order to provide their customers the best service possible.
But even though employees have gone through training, there are some issues that would need to
be fixed in order to have 100% customer satisfaction. The issues we have identified for Olive
Garden Restaurants are the hostess system, reservations, running of the food, and inputting the
order. The hostess system will be implemented by working with the IT... Show more content on

The third issue was the process of the servers running the food. Since they are shorthanded on
servers, the scheduled servers help each other out by delivering each other s food which in turn
takes away time away from their own guests. Lastly, inputting the order creates a problem
because most servers are not properly trained or have forgotten the flow of inputting orders,
some servers put the order in right away and guests receive their food while they are still
enjoying the appetizers or the soup/salad; while others wait too long to put in the order for a
steak dinner which takes longer to cook than a simple pasta or meatballs which makes the guest
be upset because they are not enjoying the food the way they should. Overall, if Olive Garden
were to improve these four issues, the restaurant would run a lot smoother and guests will be
happier and return more often to enjoy their dinner. In every restaurant s serving process, there
is always room to improve efficiency and service quality for customers. We have created a
process flow chart, a check sheet, and a service blue print for Olive Garden s customer service.
These tools help us identify problems and indicate possible improvements to better serve
customers. Below are our proposals for improvements in four identified areas. According to our
service blue print, the first problem with the serving process is Olive

The Effects Of Torture On The Society Of Modern Technology
When one thinks of torture, what is imagined? Perhaps they think of those wooden machines in
the museums that they cannot even comprehend the use for, or the iron maiden, a cinematic
favorite. Perhaps they don t think of anything specific like that at all, for it isn t a question often
presented. Torture, regardless, is a gruesome term with gruesome connotations. In our progressive
society of modern technology, it is thankfully an issue of the past. Or... is it? It s not, we know it
isn t. As a society of the unaffected, we simply don t think about it. We are vaguely aware of the
fact that torture once occurred in prevalence at some point in time and happens somewhere today. It
did happen, and it still does. Torture is deliberate violence... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

12:31 where prisoners had been sawn between planks and buried to their necks, or that of II
Maccabees 13:5 where Menelaus had been thrown into ashes to struggle and suffocate as he

regardless of what or why, as long as it classifies as torture. The words are occasionally
interchangeable, as every case of lawful torture is a punishment but not every punishment is
necessarily torture. Historically, judicial torture has been used for ages, albeit differing in how it
is carried out today. Torture for the purpose of criminal punishment first emerged in the twelfth
century in Northern Italy when prosecution done privately by popes and royalty on criminals
became prevalent and under threat when their political authority became more centralized. During
the remaining years of the Middle Ages, the process spread to much of Europe
(Encyclopedia.com). In the late twelfth century, the inquisitional procedure was introduced to
papal legislation with the purpose of controlling those who strayed from the church, and
eventually, this eventually extended to secular (nonreligious) crime as well. Early medieval law
had more severe criminal cases dealt with by ordeal, oath, or judicial combat. The idea of it was
that God would intervene constantly in the lives of people, and would so also in court. Though it
was it was impractical to

The Awakening Essay
The Awakening opens in the late 1800s in Grand Isle, a summer holiday resort popular with the
wealthy inhabitants of nearby New Orleans. Edna Pontellier is vacationing with her husband,
LГ©once, and their two sons at the cottages of Madame Lebrun, which house affluent Creoles
from the French Quarter. LГ©once is kind and loving but preoccupied with his work. His frequent
business related absences mar his domestic life with Edna. Consequently, Edna spends most of her
time with her friend AdГЁle Ratignolle, a married Creole who epitomizes womanly elegance and
charm. Through her relationship with AdГЁle, Edna learns a great deal about freedom of

Worried about the changing attitude and increasing disobedience of his wife, LГ©once seeks the
guidance of the family physician, Doctor Mandelet. A wise and enlightened man, Doctor Mandelet
suspects that Edna s transformation is the result of an affair, but he hides his suspicions from
LГ©once. Instead, Doctor Mandelet suggests that LГ©once let Edna s defiance run its course,
since attempts to control her would only fuel her rebellion. LГ©once heeds the doctor s advice,
allowing Edna to remain home alone while he is away on business. With her husband gone and
her children away as well, Edna wholly rejects her former lifestyle. She moves into a home of her
own and declares herself independent the possession of no one. Her love for Robert still intense,
Edna pursues an affair with the town seducer, AlcГ©e Arobin, who is able to satisfy her sexual
needs. Never emotionally attached to Arobin, Edna maintains control throughout their affair,
satisfying her animalistic urges but retaining her freedom from male domination.
At this point, the self sufficient and unconventional old pianist Mademoiselle Reisz adopts Edna

The Debate Of Corruption Versus Free Speech
The idea of money in politics has always been a polarizing issue. For over one hundred years the
discussion of individuals and corporations financing campaigns has led to a debate of corruption
versus free speech. Is money in politics a corrupting influence that always leads to quid pro quo?
Or, is it an issue of allowing individuals to use their money as an extension of their freedom of
speech? Recently, campaign finance reform has been a very dynamic issue. With the last major
supreme court case Citizens United v. FEC, money in politics has taken a significant turn from the
status quo. With only seven years after the Citizens United ruling we can already see the effects of
less regulated free speech in politics. Campaign finance reform... Show more content on

Another aspect of FECA was to limit hard money. The philosophy behind this was to restrict the
amount of money one individual could give directly to a PAC so they would not have too much
influence in the outcome of an election. As a reaction, the PACs started investing into media
outlets and began creating commercials. By doing this PACs were able to maintain their
influence while still obeying the campaign laws (Hughes 4:30 5:00). To combat too much
political influence from advertising, the federal government passed a law called the Bipartisan
Campaign Reform Act (BCRA) or as it s more commonly known, the McCain Feingold Act. The
BCRA sought to expand disclosure on soft money and changed some limits on hard money. The
key piece of this legislation is the electioneering communications statute, or section 203. This
piece of BCRA was intended to limit the influence of PACs by restricting their ability to air
advertisements right before elections. McCain Feingold prevented corporations and PACs from
showing political commercials sixty days before an election and thirty days before a primary
(FEC BCRA 90). Citizens United is a conservative non profit group that sought to challenge
Michael Moore s movie Ferienheit 9/11 through section 203 of the McCain Feingold Act. Citizens
United called into question Moore s movie citing the motive behind the film was to advocate the
defeat of President Bush and that it was

Smokey Coming Home
When we answered the ad about the horses for sale for my children, it never occurred to me that
I would be bringing one home for me. He was the first thing I saw when we pulled up. His coat
was swirls of black and gray with no distinguishable pattern. It made me think of smoke rising
from a chimney. He was starving thin, and his bones showed through his smokey coat. He was
staked to the bare ground. One could see he had already eaten everything his tether would let him
reach. In my mind, he was already mine. I named him Smokey before we even got out of the truck.
Just a few feet away was another horse, pure white, well fed and positively stunning. We asked the
man about the difference in how the horses were being fed, he explained; he knew he would get
more money for the white one, so he took better care of him.He knew that I wanted Smokey, he
saw it in my eyes. They come as a pair, he said. Then we saw another one, who was worse off than
Smokey. There was no way I was going to let either one of those starving animals stay.
My husband David said we only brought enough money for one of the horses, but he had a few
guns he would be willing to trade. I know the man thought we were nuts. Smokey was so starved it

A Very Brief Look at Ireland
An old myth claims that St.Patrick used his to scare all the snakes into sea. Therefore, there are
no snakes in Ireland. Ireland gained it s independence from Great Britain in 1937. The head of
Ireland is still under Britain s command. Before Ireland became a country, Ireland was covered in
ice and snow, during the the Last Glacial Maximum. The Last Glacial Maximum is the era when
ice covered northern Europe, Asia, and America, which was about 20,000 years ago. Irelandis the
sixth richest country in the world, which is surprising because it is mostly farm land.
Around 600 and 800 B.C. Celtic tribes began to settle on Ireland. Around the 12th century Britain
took the Irish s independence. During the potato famine, in the 1840s, farmers dug up potatoes
then a day after the potatoes became slimy, blackish, mass of rottenness . About 1 1/4 million Irish
left their homes. They took ships Canada and America hoping for a better life.
On 1916, Easter Monday, Ireland started a Rebellion. The IRA , Irish Republican Army, fought
Britain for five years to win independence for 26 southern counties. The other 6 counties are still
under Britain s control. This lead to the Troubles in the 1960 s which were acts of violence on the
United Kingdom Army. The United Kingdom, United States, and Ireland was a part of a process
that helped traders and sellers which is know as The Good Friday Agreement in 1988, in Northern

Impact Of The African Slave Trade
The impact on the African slave trade during 16th centuries to 19th centuries was huge. The
economy of those countries which allowed African slave trade grew bigger and bigger. For
instance, America, a huge land that had nothing before the trade, started to gain some profit out
of farming and increased hugely on population. They used a big amount of African slaves to farm
and work. And this created the economy better in America. Also Europeans, which were only one
million people brought up 5.5 million African slaves (men, women, children) to the Western
Hemisphere. 80 % out of 5.5 million slaves were enslaved as a field worker (sugar). With all of

The first thing that needs to be established is just how many slaves were brought to the Americas.
This has proven to be quite difficult at best. There have been many scholars debate just this subject
alone. As you will see, many well known scholars have problems justifying their own estimations or
guesses.
A quick study of Philip D. Curtin s work: From Guesses to Calculations: Shows his writings are a
compilation of bits n pieces of information from previously thought of unimportant publishing s.
His sole purpose was to try to determine a more accurate account of the number of people brought
over from what parts of Africa and to what final location. He goes on to make it clear his findings
should not be construed as being accurate or to be relied upon with any degree of certainty: but
rather an accuracy range of about 20% approximations.
It should also be understood that some estimates would not even reach that standard of accuracy.
They are given as the most probable figures at the present state of knowledge. These considerations
have made it convenient to round out most quantities to the nearest one hundred, including data
taken from other authors...

Fresh juice is one of the most delightful healthy treats.

Tv Show Diversity
What really is considered too white? Why doesn t tv show more of a color diversity? Should
television even be used to demonstrate equality between whites and people of color? Although it
may be true, there are statically more white s than black s in the U.S. ranging from 75.1% to
12.3% according to the Demographic Statistics. However as the years continue on, equality
between African Americans and whites are still being battled throughout the U.S. as African
Americans are still being slandered for the color of their skin. So as a fellow African American
citizen myself, television wouldn t be a bad start to show how people of color and whites can
actually get along on the big screen. On the year of 1939, the first African American television
show called The Ethel Waters Showed. aired on NBC for the first time ever. A woman by the
name, Ethel Waters along with the African Americans actresses Fredi Washington and Georgette
Harvery performed a dramatic sequence from her hit play Mamba s Daughters.(African American
Registry) This played a big part within the African American community being the first black
television on air, because of this new start it will be the start of more African Americans appearing
on air and having more television shows and series. This will also show the beginning of a start for
African Americans playing a part along the whites producing... Show more content on

Marx And Engels s Impact On Society
to a mere money relation, (Marx and Engels [1848] 2013:35]. Marx, saw the tear down of the old
as the only way for the bourgeoisie to survive. Periodically, a crisis occurred where productive
forces threatened their conditions and bourgeoisie would have to bring in new productive forces
and destroy the old. Marx believed that these changes to technology and productive capacity were
the main influence on how society and the economy were organized. The bourgeoisie had to push
for the modern world to quickly and continually develop to protect capitalists monopolies.
However, constant development caused continual disturbances of social conditions by breaking
down stable aspects of human life. Capitalist used their power to push the world to advance so that
they could prosper with no concerns to the possible effects on the economy, which would have
been most detrimental to the proletariat. For Marx, this showed that capitalists self interest pushed
economic progress, which led to societal progress but also risked crisis. Capitalismnot only affected
society through the creation and separation of social classes but also in influencing societal
progress and social relations.
The bourgeoisie created capitalism using revolutionarily activity but in doing so it also created the
proletarians who Marx believed could use revolution to bring an end to capitalism. The proletariats
were a class that depended on selling their labor to survive. Being just another commodity

Media Day At The Cleveland Cavaliers
The Cleveland Cavaliers had an entire summer to dwell on their crushing loss to the Golden State
Warriors in the 2015 NBA Finals.
I think last year is last year, and this year is this year, Cavs head coach David Blatt said at the
team s media day on Monday. We do have high expectations. Our goals are clear and are stated, but

It s important for all of us to not overstate, but to overachieve.
Blatt admitted he borrowed that last quote from Cavs general manager David Griffin, who never

The elephant in the room can t go unnoticed. The Cavs haven t won an NBA title since the

Empiricism In Grendel
In Grendel by John Gardner, twelve philosophies are connected to each one of the twelve chapters
in the novel. These philosophies are all coats that the main character, Grendel, tries on to see if he
truly aligns and believes in the philosophy. Similarly, I, throughout my fifteen years of living, have
tried on coats of philosophies and align specifically with parts of two philosophies present in
Grendel: Empiricism and the philosophyof Nietzsche. Empiricism is the philosophy that professes
all knowledge comes from sense experience, and the primary aspect of Nietzsche s philosophy is
that tragedy is the affirmation of life. Ultimately, because of the experiences I have had in my life,

Asian Culture And Cultural Identity
Christina To
Mr Nguyen
English 4
13 October 2017
Cultural Identity Culture plays a big part on how you are as a person. A person beliefs are made
up by their own unique cultural identity. Identity is what makes you who you are as person, and
how does it defines you. Your identity doesn t have to be just your ethnicity or how you look like, it
s way much more than that. While my culture is mixed with American and Asian aspects, Asian
culture is most influential in my life because it helps me be motivated in school, affect my views
on religion, and makes me have good deportment. Asian culture motivates me in school because
their expectations push me to a higher standard. Most Asian parents would only expect a 4.0
GPA from their kids, and nothing lower. Their beliefs are that, if you get high grades, you will
be successful. You could become a doctor, engineer, lawyer, and so much more. Unlike most
American cultures, making money is the most important thing to Asians. If you have the right
education, you would make a lot of money. With money, you could do anything, money is power.
My parents would always say that if you have money, no one would ever make fun of you. They
would give me life lessons, and compare me to other family members that are successful, and say
that I have to be exactly like them. They would also talk to me about their history. How tough it
was for them, how they had to drop out of school because their family was poor, and how they

Comparing Love And Pride In Dante s Inferno And Purgatorio
Love and Pride as Recurrent Themes That Reinforce the Didactic and Biographic Dimension of
Dante Alighieri s Inferno and Purgatorio
The first three lines of Inferno encapsulate the essence of Dante s journey to Inferno, Purgatorio,
and Paradiso: When I had journeyed half of our life s way / I found myself within a shadowed
forest / for I had lost the path that does not stray (Inf. I, 1 3). Dante, in his mid life, finds himself
in the dark woods. He beholds light from afar and tries to ascend his way to that place. He
suddenly takes retreat to the dark woods after encountering three ferocious beasts: a leopard, a lion,

Before his journey to Hell begins, Dante expresses doubt. He asks Virgil if he is strong enough as
he is reluctant about going through the underworld. What Dante really fears is the possibility of
seeing himself in the sinners. Virgil then explains the very reason why Dante should not be
afraid because Beatrice will be watching over him (Inf. Canto II). They set out to hell and come
across the inscriptions Abandon every hope ye who enter here (Inf. Canto III). This scene
prepares Dante of what he is bound to see as he descends to the place of the eternally damned. The
subsequent cantos familiarize us with the very first images of Pride and Love in the Comedia.
Seeing the world s most prominent philosophers, astonishment strikes Dante in Limbo. The idea of

makes us question the existence of these people in Hell. These philosophers, including

Weber uses a piece of writing by Benjamin Franklin which discusses how people should act towards
credit, money, debt in an attempt to show that Franklin was suggesting that people should be
attempting to gain wealth as a personal duty. Weber continues by clarifying that capitalism did not
originate from the Protestant Reformation and that capitalism has been viewed in societies ranging
from India, Asia and the Middle East but they lacked what Weber called the spirit of capitalism
shown in the time frame which he was looking at. Weber defines and discusses the change in
economic systems from economic traditionalism to capitalism. Weber thought that religion was not
the driving force in the rise of capitalism but had a greater impact in bringing about the change from
economic traditionalism to capitalism. Weber also discusses one of the unintended consequences of
the reformation which was the rise in rationalization in society brought about by the change in
dominate religion.
(Weber, 1905, 8 28)
The idea of a calling within Lutherism is discussed as it furthers Weber s ideas about how the
reformation brought about a new attitude towards work and play. The calling within Lutherism
revolves around peoples work and business and how that relates to their religious beliefs. Weber
does however say that Lutherism was not as important to his argument as Calvinism.

surplus to requirements. Although this will reduce wage costs and increase ROCE which is an
objective of the business, redundancies cost money and with the long serving nature of the work
force de motivation could occur between the surviving staff as long time friends may lose their

The Massacre Of The Innocents Analysis
The Massacre of the innocents gives the viewer a glimpse into the life and artistic journey of
Flemish Baroque painter Peter Paul Rubens. When one looks at the painting, it is as if they are
reading the journal of the artist. The artist s personal style, which was developed through inspiration
from great artists such as Caravaggio, Michelangelo and Raphael, stands out in this painting. One
can clearly see elements of the painting which have been influenced by the works of the artists that
he carefully studied. (Jaffe,10)
The painting itself is an artistic representation of the account told in the Gospel where King
Herod ordered the killing of infant boys. The painting was made in c.1610 BCE, has the
dimensions 142 x 182 cm and uses the medium oil on wood (Jaffe, 73, 194). The painting, like
many of Rubens artworks has a dynamic sense of movement along with the expression of the full
spectrum of human emotions. Children can be seen being torn from their mother s arms, some
dead and others brutally injured. Mothers are shown mourning over the death of their child or
trying to escape from the soldiers by scratching or biting (Williams, 1).
Rubens artistic training began in the 1590 s under the guidance of Tobias Verhaecht and Adam van
Noort. However, Ruben entered his apprenticeship with Otto van Veen in 1594, who had the most
profound influence on Rubens work in his early years. The early works of Rubens were heavily

Greek Idealism In Greek Culture
Imagine a perfect world where everyone in the nation spoke the same language, shared a
common worldview and was culturally united. This would be the Ideal world that the Greeks
strove for and succeeded in. Greek idealism is not how the world really is, but rather, a perfect ideal
world, which was the answer to their success. The ideas of the Greekswere created from their mind
as opposed to external reality composed of other outside forces. Throughout the paper, I will
highlight specific examples of idealism in the Greek culture, by focusing on their philosophy, art
and literature. The awakening of philosophical thought in Greece started in 600 B.C. (Messner
10 2 17). The mind and the spirit were viewed as the two most powerful factors of someone. With
the mind and the spirit, the possibilities were endless. With these assets, they were able to portray
their love of wisdom. Philosophy is the ponder of the everyday life and what is happening in the
world (Messner 10 2 17). The idealists of the philosophical world reasoned that the physical
world is illusory and that behind it lies a realm accessible only by contemplation (Humanities,
67). A specific example of philosophy, is Plato s take on the Western ideal philosophy. In his
philosophy he emphasizes the importance of values and ideas, over matter (Humanities, 69). In
Plato s eye, education and knowledge are very important (Messner, 10 6 17). This is important
because it helps us understand for ourselves the real world

Sexual Identity And Gender Expression
To conceptualise sexual identity and gender expression, Judith Butler (1990) proposes a
poststructuralist perspective; that gendered behaviour (masculinity and femininity) is learned, a
performative act, and that gender is constructed through a heterosexual matrix . She describes this as
[A] hegemonic/epistemic model of gender intelligibility that assumes that for bodies to cohere and
make sense there must be a stable sex expressed through a stable gender (masculine expresses
discursive male, feminine expresses female) that is oppositionally and hierarchically defined
through the compulsory practice of heterosexuality (Butler, 1990; 151).
She proposes that one is born a particular sex, which in turn dictates one s gender, which in turn ...

Reality, from the realist perspective, is seen to have a stratification of existence, which Bhaskar
(date) outlines as the empirical , the actual and the real . The empirical is the experienced, a sub
set of the actual; the things and events in their concrete historicity, and these are both a sub set of
the real; the structures, the internal relations of the actual parts. Socially, realists distinguish the
empirical reality of social life from the real objects whose causal powers effect social change
through actual mechanisms. This ontological depth has bearing when exploring the sex gender
relationship, where there are real anatomical sex differences, and empirically real gender
differences. Rather than deterministic , sex categories are causal to result in a particular gender.
One born to a particular anatomical sex tends to be a particular gender; the outcome is probable.
That is because of the actual mechanisms, the cultural, religious, historical truths, that create a
tendency between the real and the empirical . This is what Butler somewhat fails to portray: the
influences of race, class, and time.
Heteronormativity is the term coined to define the systemic and pervasive belief, structurally,
socially and somewhat unconsciously, that heterosexuality is the normal and inevitable sexuality, it
makes sense . It is grounded in determinism; that one s anatomical sex must compliment their
partner s opposite

Classical Greek Thinkers
Classical Greek thinkers have many outlooks on the world and how it became what it is today.
As a group the Classical Greek thinkers helped provide us with a basis of modern science as
well as the idea of epistemology or the study of knowledge. Their ideas and curiosities allowed
for rational or philosophical outlooks on life. However, the Greeks did not abandon the idea of
having a mythopoeic outlook as well. Ultimately, the philosophical path began with the
cosmologists, they decided to study the universe and cosmos. This idea allowed for the
cosmologists to go beyond the chaos of the world and discovered patterns and explanations as to

Research Proposal On Hydroelectric Generator
Science Fair Proposal
Edward Montanez
Everman Joe C.Bean High School
Abstract
A hydroelectric generator is a machine that uses mechanical energy to generate electricity, the
hydroelectricity comes from a large volumes of falling water to create the mechanical energy. I
will be constructing my own hydroelectric generator in order to show it is possible to create
electricity using large volumes of water, enough power to light a light bulb.
Background
Making Electricity and Hydroelectric Generators
Electricity is the flow of electrons through a metal wire, or through a conductor. Electrons are tiny
particles found in atoms, and is also one of the building blocks of all matter. Electrons carry tiny
negative charges, when they move through a conductor they produce a little invisible magnetic
force. The strength depends on how in motion the electrons are. Pushing the electrons a little closer
and tighter can cause a stronger field. When electrons produce a magnet force, you can use a
magnet to make the electrons mover which is how an hydroelectric generator works.
A hydroelectric generator is a machine that uses mechanical energy to generate electricity, the
hydroelectricity comes from a large volumes of falling water to create the mechanical energy. For
more than 100 years the simplest way to produce the volumes of falling water needed to make
electricity was to use dams to create electricity. But sometimes dams

The Brothers Kamazov Analysis
(4) No Sighted Living Absent Today Gone Tomorrow The mystery of human existence lies not
in just staying alive, but in finding something to live for. The Brothers Karamazov by Fyodor
Dostoyevsky Before me sat a young couple. It was not our first meeting. They came often for
counsel. We just are struggling in life, they exclaimed at the beginning of an evening session.
What are you struggling with? I replied. As usual, a confused maze and daze of wandering
contemplations ensued. Well, we just don t know. We are just not happy. Oh, we love each
other, and things are very good, but . . . well, life just seems sort of empty and meaningless. Do
you know what I mean? Here sitting before me was a couple in their thirties. They enjoyed three
beautiful daughters. They lived in a mortgage free home. She was very attractive. He was a tall
strong good looking man. Both possessed good jobs, drove nice cars, enjoyed many friends, but
. . . well, as she put it often, We are just not happy. After several visits, I asked, What do you
really want? They replied, Ah, well, guess we really don t know. What does we don t know
mean? So, some contemplative homework was in order. Their assignment was to begin thoroughly
assessing their lives through the lens of one question, For what do I live? Upon returning the next
week, the couple sat in front of me with blank wordless tablets. Did you do your homework?
Confusingly, she fumbled, We really tried. Really, we did. We

Higher Learning Movie Analysis
In the movie Higher Learning many characters face different situations, and the character that
appeals to me, or that identify myself as, would be Fudge. The reason why Fudge is because; he
encourages his friends to not look at a book for just an assignment, but to look into the book, and
learn from it. I read books from time to time, and I read it to analyze its not just for an assignment,
and I try to encourage friends to read it. Another Reason why I consider myself to be like Fudge is
because, he looks out for his friends or like, he considers it his homies I would look out for my
friends, and only they earned it I just won t look out for a friend who fools around all the time.
However I m not fully like Fudge because, he would deal... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Another Issue was the race stereotype, I don t know what the producers were thinking, but there
were a lot of stereotypes like having all neo Nazi s look bald, and like skinheads who are out to
wipe out the other entire race. I know they are racist, but they wouldn t take it too far as a school
shooting they just don t like to be around other races. Also on how they had look at my own
people the Hispanics they couldn t have just said that instead of saying Mexican like every
ignorant person who don t know the diversity of the Latino culture it didn t bother me, but I
knew that the movie would have the perspective of people that aren t diverse. However they
could ve lower the racism I know the actors don t mean it, but instead of calling everyone an N
word they could ve given another term because the N Word isn t suppose to be used by any other
race besides African Americans overall the movie look and felt like a segregated community, until
the end which united everyone at the festival, until Remy attacked the school which happens in real
life situations. The movie overall got enough controversy to become noticeable. Even though the
movie took place in a college campus there are some fears about

Future of Passenger Aircraft
The future of passenger aircraft and their manufactures has an amazing outlook. Every year the
brightest minds in aviation compile the greatest technological advances towards creating the safest
and most economical aircraft on the planet. No detail is over looked, and the bottom dollar is the
all controlling factor. From private aircraft to public aircraft, space exploration and beyond, the
future is bright for the passenger aircraft market, and everyone who purchases air travel should be
excited to see how industry unfolds.
Let s kick this off! For me, this topic hits home and in my pocket. My uncle, retired Coast Guard
Captain Brian Murray, fly s for Emirates Airlines out of Dubai. Growing up with aviation in our

Today Boeing has an aircraft that can seat over 500 people, and one that can fly over 9,300 nautical
miles in its 777x program. That s 1/3 of the way around the globe without stopping! Currently,
Boeing Commercial employs over 80,000 workers in the United States supporting the Pacific
Northwest and the South East portions of the country for main manufacturing headquarters. The
second airline company that holds a majority stock in the passenger airliner world is Airbus. Airbus
has a family of five passenger airliners as well, including the A320, A330, A340, A350, and
A380 families. The flagship A380 double decker aircraft can carry over 525 passengers in three
section configuration, over 800 passengers in a single class configuration. Airbus has been
highlighting milestones and achievements for 40 years, boasting marks such as the first wide
body twin engine airliner producer in 1974 to its record breaking arrival of the A380 in 2007. All
of Airbus fly by wire systems onboard its aircraft and modularity between models significantly cut
operating costs for the fleet which are passed to the consumer. Airbus employs over 59,000 in
multiple locations around the globe concerning its passenger airliner department.
Along with commercial airlines, private company aircraft also play a large role in the passenger
aircraft world. Companies like Gulf Stream, Bombardier, Hawker, Eclipse, Cessna, Dassault,

Dealing with Change in Life
We all have dealt with change at one point in our life. Change comes in many ways from having
a new baby being born to transitioning to a new career. What I call this is forces of change.
Secondly is how we process that change. It may simple and it may not be simple. Lastly once you
process the change you are then able to manage change. If you manage change you will not be as
stressed if you let it take over you.
Change is never when you are ready. Yes you may plan to move to a new home or new state but
you are still dealing with stress. The majority of us have change come to us when we are not
ready. The most change that we have in our life is that of careerchange or work changes. We see it
every day businesses may close or merge with another business. This is a big deal because
people need to look for a new job or plan to retire. This change would be consider planned change.
(Nelson Quick, 2013 p.668). Another change is that when managers are changed at your job.
Managers come and go in a company. Many managers will move up in the company and many
will pursue a different career. This is tough for employees to deal with because they get use to
working in one direction until someone new comes in. This is consider to be unplanned change.
(Nelson Quick, 2013 p668). Many companies do change as a globalize style. To me having a
globalize style of change is planned and unplanned. I say this because the company knows where
they are moving or when they are moving, but no one

Investigating Correlation Coefficient Of Correlation
a. I can use here z test for one sample proportion since I want to compare if there is a significant
difference between the sample proportion (i.e. PKU rates in that certain state) and the
population proportion (U.S. PKU rate distribution). Also since the sample size is sufficiently
large, then it does not pose any problem with the normality (since np 5). b. In this case to get the
correlational coefficient of the variable if it is ordinal, then I could use Spearman rank rho
coefficient and if it is interval or ratio level I could use the Pearson product coefficient of
correlation. In the end I can check if the correlation is statistically significant by using the t test
for significant correlation coefficient. c. I can use here t test for dependent samples (because of
the phrase before and after ), since the same group of sample will measured twice, before a
treatment, and after a treatment. Of course, we need to check if all the assumptions are met, such
as normality, equality of variance and randomness of samples. d. I can use here Chi square test of
independence. Since we want to know if there is a relationship or difference between the college
students responses to the likert question, based on their major fields of study (nutrition, nursing,
and social work) So we want to test if the two variables are dependent or independent with one
another. Assumption of Chi square must also be checked. e. Either I can compute for the mode of

Zebra Mussel Research Papers
For this assignment, I decided to research the zebra mussel (Dreissena polymorpha). Since we
have a family cabin up in northern Minnesota, this topic especially resonated with me since our
lake chain was recently contaminated. Overall, this article provides a very large variety of useful
information. At the beginning of the article, it gives a detailed summary pertaining to the origin of
the zebra mussel and how one can properly identify it. Since 1824, zebra mussels have spread
exponentially. Originally from the Black Sea, these mollusks traveled into Western Europe by
hitchhiking into the ballast tanks of large ocean going vessels. Eventually in 1988, the zebra
mussel was found in the United States (Lake Erie). Due to the Great Lakes... Show more content on

Since zebra mussels must attach to a stable structure, this can cause serious issues for power plants,
water supply facilities, and other industrial buildings which utilize water pipes. When the mussels
clump together, they can constrict the flow of pipes, thus causing reduced performance in air
conditioning, fire equipment, etc. Not only do they harm structures, but they are also responsible
for a depleted population of smaller fish. Because zebra mussels are filter feeders, they can filter
vast amounts of water in a relatively short amount of time. This in turn will greatly reduce the
number of phytoplankton, depriving smaller fish of their means of nutrition. Eventually, this will
cause a chain reaction that can affect an entire food chain.
Zebra mussels do however provide a few extra benefits. Since these mussels filter vast amounts
of water each and every day, it can greatly improve the clarity of water. When the clarity is good,
it allows sunlight to reach greater depths. Because of this, aquatic plants can grow and flourish
and a much higher rate. These plants may then become eventual homes for some fish. Two years
after zebra mussels were first discovered in Lake Erie, the clarity improved by

The First Crusades During The Crusades
Jeet Kothari
Mr. Turner
Honors British Literature A
29 January 2016
The First CrusadesThe First Crusades were military planned missions planned by Christian
leaders; the proclaimed purpose was to recover Jerusalem as well as Antioch, which were in an
area known as the Holy Land, from the controls of Turks. The reason why they feature so
prominently in history is because they were one of the longest battles in history. All three of the
Crusades lasted about 200 years. Additionally, the Crusades were a major reason for why Europe
came out of the Dark Ages. After 200 years of darkness, Europe had a rebirth.
The Crusades were not an early example of European colonization even if they did create some
kingdoms there for a while. ( The Crusades ). It has been argued that the knights who went
adventuring in the Crusades were the second and third sons of nobles who, because of European
inheritance rules, had little to look forward by staying in Europe. However, most of the people
who responded to the call to Crusade weren t knights at all; they were poor people. Secondly,
most of nobles who did go crusading were lords of grand estates. ( Crusades .) This analysis of
people of the Crusades ignores religious motivations. History has approached religions as
occurrences. For instance, the unpredictable environments of Mesopotamia and Egypt led to a
belief in various types of Gods which would help solve each of their problems. However, just as the
world shape religion, religious

Taming an animal such as a dog or a cat is impressive, but the amount of guts it takes to tame a

notable one s are the Ostrich and the Buffalo. The Robinson s endeavored to tame a wild Ostrich

to try and slow down the animal which worked like a charm. Once slowed down the dogs pinned

Media And Gender Roles In The Media
At a young age, children begin to comprehend gender roles, which are a set of societal norms that
determine what is considered acceptable, desirable and appropriate based on an individual s sex.
We obtain these gender associated roles from various places and one dominant source with direct
influence is the media. Media plays a critical role in influencing genderroles through impacting the
career choices we make, the behavioral patterns we implement in our lives and the sexual
stereotypes we have been conditioned to accept. In the first place, society has grown to
associate certain occupations with a particular gender. One reason this occurs is as a result of
mass media displaying a certain gender occupying a particular job position more than the other
genders. Females are often displayed on television, magazines and internet sources as occupying
positions such as housewives, nurses, receptionists and teachers. On the other hand, males are
portrayed in roles such as the family s breadwinner, doctors and principles. For example, in the
show I Love Lucy , Lucy is a housewife looking to escape her domesticated lifestyle. In the
process of doing so her ventures quickly turn to antics, leaving husband Ricky, who is the family
s breadwinner, to correct the mess she creates (Rosie 357). Similarly, in another show called Our
Miss Brooks , Miss Brooks is a teacher who battles with a bossy school principal, Mr. Conklin.
These two sitcoms present females in positions with less

Quixote And The Insanity In Man Of La Mancha
quot;Man of La Mancha quot; is the story of Alonso Quijana, a poor gentleman from
Spain. He has read so many of the exaggerated romances of chivalry that he
finally believes them to be his reality and sets forth as Don Quixote, a
knight errant on his old horse seeking many misadventures. And while this
insanity may be an object of distress for others, Quixote s madness is
comforting to himself.
And all he reads oppresses him . . . fills him with indignation at man s
murderous ways toward man. He broods . . . and broods . . . and broods and
finally from so much brooding his brains dry up! He lays down the melancholy
burden of sanity and conceives the strangest project ever imagined . . . to
become a knight errant ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After defeating the muleteers, he insists
upon helping them recover, saying, quot;I must raise them up and minister to
their wounds . . . Nobility demands. quot; In the world Quixote has left, his
enemies would be left to rot, but in his own reality, he is doing the only
right thing by tending to the injuries. This way comforting himself by
correcting the wrongs of quot;mans murderous ways toward man. quot;
Despite his noble deeds, Quixote is still looked upon as a crazy old man
by those around him. As Senor Carrasco tries to convince Quixote of who he
really is, Don continues to deny the real world and live in his dream, saying
quot;so learned, yet so misinformed . . . facts are the enemy of truth. quot;
Confronted with reality, the lunacy prevails because in his imaginary world,
all is right and the pain he knew before was gone.
Behind all the events of Quixote s misadventures and insanity, is a basic
premise that is best expressed by the words of Cervantes:
I have lived nearly fifty years and I have seen life as it is. Pain, misery,
hunger. . . cruelty beyond belief. I have heard the singing from taverns and
the moans of bundles of filth on the streets. I have been a soldier and seen
my comrades fall in battle . . . or die more slowly under the lash in Africa.
I have held them in my arms at the final moment. These were men who saw
life as it is, yet they

Projects as open systems (identifying the project nature in systems terms)
Systems thinking and project management evolved together from meeting the same challenges
during the 1950s (Winch, 2010). The system approach helps to understand the complexity of the
processes and the interrelationships with them. (Walker A. , 2015).
Ackoff (1969) considers system as:
An entity, conceptual or physical, which consists of interdependent parts. Each of a system s
elements is connected to every other element, directly or indirectly, and no sub set of elements is
unrelated to any other sub set .
Walker (2007, p. 67) states that systems theory helps to explain how the project management
process should be structured and hence how the various firms and ... Show more content on

These types describe the extent of interaction between project actors. Pooled interdependency
means, that actors do not interact straightly, but contribute individual pieces to the whole. Even
though they are not directly linked, their performance affects each other. Sequential
interdependency has a serial form. There is the direct interdependency of units on each other: the
output of the entity becomes the input for the followed one. Both parts make contributions to and
are sustained by the whole. In case of reciprocal interdependency, the outputs of each become the
inputs for the others, but not in a serial form. Each unit poses contingency for the other. Reciprocal
interdependency has the highest level of complexity and dominates in construction projects, which
shows the need for the highest level of integration. (Baccarini, 1996)
Thompson (1967) suggests that sequential interdependency consists of the elements of pooled
interdependency, whereas reciprocal interdependency embraces the elements of both pooled and
sequential. This shows the links between the types of interdependence.
The three types of interdependency have significant implications for how to achieve coordination in
construction, as they imply that the actors must adjust and direct their activities and resources in
and between numerous supply chains and numerous construction sites. (Bankvall,

Both George Orwell s Animal Farm and Ariel Dorfman s Rebellion of the Magical Rabbits share
the idea that people s ignorance can contribute to their political and social oppression. These
stories are both different, but at the same time are completely the same. The stories both have a
different plot but have the same deeper meaning of ignorance leading to people s social and
political oppression. George Orwell used real life experiences of when political leaders took over
the Soviet Union and created a communist society to inspire his book while Ariel Dorfman used
real life experiences of when Chile was taken over by a harsh dictatorship and the people of Chile

Another relation that these two writers have is that they both quit or were forced out of their
government positions. Ariel Dorfman was in a government position under a socialist who was
overthrown by a dictatorship. This is unlike George Orwell, who served under the communist
idea, otherwise known as a dictatorship. Ariel Dorfman was born in Buenas Aires, Argentina in
1942 and is still alive today. Both of these authors also had similar writing styles by using
allegories of the dictatorships in their countries. These two authors have a lot in common and
have similar writing styles in their books, Animal Farm and The Rebellion Of The Magical
Rabbits. You will read about how George Orwell and Ariel Dorfman used allegories, ironies, and
real life experiences to express the lesson that people s ignorance can lead to their oppression.
Both Animal Farm and The Rebellion Of The Magical Rabbits have the idea that people s
ignorance lead to their oppression. Some evidence from Animal Farm that helps me support my
thesis is when the author states,ВґВґAs Clover looked down the hillside her eyes filled with tears.
If she could have spoken her thoughts; it would have been to say that this was not what they had
aimed at when they had set themselves years ago to work for the overthrow of the human race.

  • 2. How Ut Camp Changed My Life ut camp really changed my life. This happened while I was new to Boy Scouts. It started off with me at my house and my parents wanting me to go camping. The problem was that I did not want to go to camp and be by myself for a week. In this, even me and I was extremely shy, nervous, and, dependent. My friend was about the same at that time. There was a leader that was kind, caring and understanding. The mood went from sad to happy and the tone went from depressing to exciting. This event changed my life for the good. That day that I traveled to camp, I was scared. I knew that it would be very far away from home and I would be far away from home for a long time. Even though I pleaded to stay home my parents kept saying, You will enjoy camping. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Misunderstanding of Humans Relationship with Nature Essay 11 And God said, let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so. (The Bible, Genesis. 1 11) God created earth with all what it has from minerals and rocks to plants and animals. He also made the nature in a unique way. After that, God created humans and gave them dominion over the other species and creations. 28 And god blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth. The world population is growing and growing rapidly, and as the population increase, we require and consume more of the resources we need to survive. Our resources are decreasing as our numbers increase. We eat more and more. For example, fishermen on the Chesapeake Bay, according to Larry Simons (Poisoned Waters), are getting less fish, oysters and crabs. The variety of what they get is also decreasing since many sea animals became extinct in that bay like shad, yellow perch and tarpon. Humans are overfishing the resources causing them to disappear. Another kind of animals that we consume on a daily basis is chicken. Chicken is one of the most common types of meat that we eat. As the demand on chicken increase, prices increase too. Small independent businesses cannot reduce their prices since their production is limited. This led big businesses to be in the lead in mass production with their lower prices. As the chairman of Perdue farms, one of the biggest chicken farms in the U.S., Jim Perdue said: I think things had to become bigger in order to keep costs lower. As chicken production increase, their manure also increases. Small businesses could deal with their chickens manure by absorption because it was not a lot. On the other hand, big businesses with their mass production, they produce a lot of manure. What big businesses, like Perdue, do is they dumb it in a river which then goes to the bay. As they dumb a lot of it, it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Vitamin C in autism? Has vitamin C been used in the treatment of autism? I was only able to find only one study in which vitamin C was evaluated as an intervention in autism. The study was initiated by Dolske. The study consisted of a 30 week double blind, placebo controlled trial of 52 mg/lb. per day as a treatment for 18 autistic children (ages 6 to 19) in a residential setting. Statistically significant improvement on various outcome measures was reported. But vitamin C is extremely safe, even in massive doses, so it would be well to find out what the optimal dose for autism might be. We might ask ourselves, what is the safe dose of vitamin C? A lot. Vitamin C expert Robert Cathcart proposes the quot;bowel tolerance quot; method of determining one s own vitamin C requirement. You simply take increasingly large amounts of vitamin C each day until your body reaches the vitamin C saturation point. Going beyond that level, the vitamin C becomes a laxative. For most people in good health, the well tolerated level tends to be about 10 to 15 grams of vitamin C per day. If you start to get sick, your body requires more vitamin C, and your quot;bowel tolerance quot; may rise to 30 or 100 or more grams per day. But, according to Cathcart and other experts on vitamin C, increasing your input when you are sick will dramatically abbreviate your illness. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. A Hero’s Breakdown Essay Ideas abound of what true heroism is in this day and age. To some, a true hero may be the person that led their favorite sports team to a championship. To others, true heroes are the doctors that helped a loved one get better from a serious illness. Some even see the person that gives them inspiration on a day to day basis as a true hero. To many, however, a true hero is so much more than that. To many, a true hero is the one that goes the extra mile t follow a strict moral code, both at home and in the public eye. He knows that what he is doing for Tom Robinson is not going to be well received by his community, and he knows why they are so against him (Powell). The people of Maycomb are scared of a coming change, and he understands where they are coming from. His refusal to give up and keep pushing, even though it somewhat hurts his reputation, is a hard feat to overcome. Even though he loses his case, his standing up for what is right despite the amount of hate he received is a very important thing (Atticus). For the African American population, times were especially hard. They knew that there was no hope for Tom, but Atticus gave hope to them for a whole new reason. They were given hope for a past due change in the behavior of their society. When the Caucasian population learned that a white man was going to be defending a black man in court to his fullest abilities they thought was a terrible thing. Olive Garden Serving Process Executive Summary Olive Garden is committed to providing every guest with a genuine Italian dining experience and make the guest feel like they are family; in Italian it is called Hospitaliano! In an effort to have competitive advantage over other chain restaurants, Olive Garden emphasizes comprehensive employee trainings in order to provide their customers the best service possible. But even though employees have gone through training, there are some issues that would need to be fixed in order to have 100% customer satisfaction. The issues we have identified for Olive Garden Restaurants are the hostess system, reservations, running of the food, and inputting the order. The hostess system will be implemented by working with the IT... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The third issue was the process of the servers running the food. Since they are shorthanded on servers, the scheduled servers help each other out by delivering each other s food which in turn takes away time away from their own guests. Lastly, inputting the order creates a problem because most servers are not properly trained or have forgotten the flow of inputting orders, some servers put the order in right away and guests receive their food while they are still enjoying the appetizers or the soup/salad; while others wait too long to put in the order for a steak dinner which takes longer to cook than a simple pasta or meatballs which makes the guest be upset because they are not enjoying the food the way they should. Overall, if Olive Garden were to improve these four issues, the restaurant would run a lot smoother and guests will be happier and return more often to enjoy their dinner. In every restaurant s serving process, there is always room to improve efficiency and service quality for customers. We have created a process flow chart, a check sheet, and a service blue print for Olive Garden s customer service. Judicial torture is a punishment regardless of what or why, as long as it classifies as torture. The words are occasionally interchangeable, as every case of lawful torture is a punishment but not every punishment is necessarily torture. Historically, judicial torture has been used for ages, albeit differing in how it is carried out today. Torture for the purpose of criminal punishment first emerged in the twelfth century in Northern Italy when prosecution done privately by popes and royalty on criminals became prevalent and under threat when their political authority became more centralized. During the remaining years of the Middle Ages, the process spread to much of Europe (Encyclopedia.com). In the late twelfth century, the inquisitional procedure was introduced to papal legislation with the purpose of controlling those who strayed from the church, and eventually, this eventually extended to secular (nonreligious) crime as well. • 15. The Debate Of Corruption Versus Free Speech The idea of money in politics has always been a polarizing issue. For over one hundred years the discussion of individuals and corporations financing campaigns has led to a debate of corruption versus free speech. Is money in politics a corrupting influence that always leads to quid pro quo? Or, is it an issue of allowing individuals to use their money as an extension of their freedom of speech? Recently, campaign finance reform has been a very dynamic issue. With the last major supreme court case Citizens United v. FEC, money in politics has taken a significant turn from the status quo. With only seven years after the Citizens United ruling we can already see the effects of less regulated free speech in politics. Campaign finance reform... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another aspect of FECA was to limit hard money. The philosophy behind this was to restrict the amount of money one individual could give directly to a PAC so they would not have too much influence in the outcome of an election. As a reaction, the PACs started investing into media outlets and began creating commercials. By doing this PACs were able to maintain their influence while still obeying the campaign laws (Hughes 4:30 5:00). To combat too much political influence from advertising, the federal government passed a law called the Bipartisan Campaign Reform Act (BCRA) or as it s more commonly known, the McCain Feingold Act. The BCRA sought to expand disclosure on soft money and changed some limits on hard money. The key piece of this legislation is the electioneering communications statute, or section 203. This piece of BCRA was intended to limit the influence of PACs by restricting their ability to air advertisements right before elections. McCain Feingold prevented corporations and PACs from showing political commercials sixty days before an election and thirty days before a primary (FEC BCRA 90). He was the first thing I saw when we pulled up. His coat was swirls of black and gray with no distinguishable pattern. It made me think of smoke rising from a chimney. He was starving thin, and his bones showed through his smokey coat. He was staked to the bare ground. One could see he had already eaten everything his tether would let him reach. In my mind, he was already mine. I named him Smokey before we even got out of the truck. Just a few feet away was another horse, pure white, well fed and positively stunning. Periodically, a crisis occurred where productive forces threatened their conditions and bourgeoisie would have to bring in new productive forces and destroy the old. Marx believed that these changes to technology and productive capacity were the main influence on how society and the economy were organized. The bourgeoisie had to push for the modern world to quickly and continually develop to protect capitalists monopolies. However, constant development caused continual disturbances of social conditions by breaking down stable aspects of human life. When one looks at the painting, it is as if they are reading the journal of the artist. The artist s personal style, which was developed through inspiration from great artists such as Caravaggio, Michelangelo and Raphael, stands out in this painting. One can clearly see elements of the painting which have been influenced by the works of the artists that he carefully studied. (Jaffe,10) The painting itself is an artistic representation of the account told in the Gospel where King Herod ordered the killing of infant boys. The painting was made in c.1610 BCE, has the dimensions 142 x 182 cm and uses the medium oil on wood (Jaffe, 73, 194). The painting, like many of Rubens artworks has a dynamic sense of movement along with the expression of the full spectrum of human emotions. Children can be seen being torn from their mother s arms, some dead and others brutally injured. Mothers are shown mourning over the death of their child or trying to escape from the soldiers by scratching or biting (Williams, 1). This would be the Ideal world that the Greeks strove for and succeeded in. Greek idealism is not how the world really is, but rather, a perfect ideal world, which was the answer to their success. The ideas of the Greekswere created from their mind as opposed to external reality composed of other outside forces. Throughout the paper, I will highlight specific examples of idealism in the Greek culture, by focusing on their philosophy, art and literature. The awakening of philosophical thought in Greece started in 600 B.C. (Messner 10 2 17). The mind and the spirit were viewed as the two most powerful factors of someone. With the mind and the spirit, the possibilities were endless. With these assets, they were able to portray their love of wisdom. Philosophy is the ponder of the everyday life and what is happening in the world (Messner 10 2 17). The idealists of the philosophical world reasoned that the physical world is illusory and that behind it lies a realm accessible only by contemplation (Humanities, 67). A specific example of philosophy, is Plato s take on the Western ideal philosophy. In his philosophy he emphasizes the importance of values and ideas, over matter (Humanities, 69). In Plato s eye, education and knowledge are very important (Messner, 10 6 17). This is important because it helps us understand for ourselves the real world ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 38. Sexual Identity And Gender Expression To conceptualise sexual identity and gender expression, Judith Butler (1990) proposes a poststructuralist perspective; that gendered behaviour (masculinity and femininity) is learned, a performative act, and that gender is constructed through a heterosexual matrix . She describes this as [A] hegemonic/epistemic model of gender intelligibility that assumes that for bodies to cohere and make sense there must be a stable sex expressed through a stable gender (masculine expresses discursive male, feminine expresses female) that is oppositionally and hierarchically defined through the compulsory practice of heterosexuality (Butler, 1990; 151). She proposes that one is born a particular sex, which in turn dictates one s gender, which in turn ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Reality, from the realist perspective, is seen to have a stratification of existence, which Bhaskar (date) outlines as the empirical , the actual and the real . The empirical is the experienced, a sub set of the actual; the things and events in their concrete historicity, and these are both a sub set of the real; the structures, the internal relations of the actual parts. Socially, realists distinguish the empirical reality of social life from the real objects whose causal powers effect social change through actual mechanisms. This ontological depth has bearing when exploring the sex gender relationship, where there are real anatomical sex differences, and empirically real gender differences. Rather than deterministic , sex categories are causal to result in a particular gender. One born to a particular anatomical sex tends to be a particular gender; the outcome is probable. That is because of the actual mechanisms, the cultural, religious, historical truths, that create a tendency between the real and the empirical . This is what Butler somewhat fails to portray: the influences of race, class, and time. Heteronormativity is the term coined to define the systemic and pervasive belief, structurally, socially and somewhat unconsciously, that heterosexuality is the normal and inevitable sexuality, it makes sense . It is grounded in determinism; that one s anatomical sex must compliment their partner s opposite ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As a group the Classical Greek thinkers helped provide us with a basis of modern science as well as the idea of epistemology or the study of knowledge. Ultimately, the philosophical path began with the cosmologists, they decided to study the universe and cosmos. This idea allowed for the cosmologists to go beyond the chaos of the world and discovered patterns and explanations as to why certain events occur in the world. • 40. Research Proposal On Hydroelectric Generator Science Fair Proposal Edward Montanez Everman Joe C.Bean High School Abstract A hydroelectric generator is a machine that uses mechanical energy to generate electricity, the hydroelectricity comes from a large volumes of falling water to create the mechanical energy. I will be constructing my own hydroelectric generator in order to show it is possible to create electricity using large volumes of water, enough power to light a light bulb. Background Making Electricity and Hydroelectric Generators Electricity is the flow of electrons through a metal wire, or through a conductor. Electrons are tiny particles found in atoms, and is also one of the building blocks of all matter. Electrons carry tiny negative charges, when they move through a conductor they produce a little invisible magnetic force. The strength depends on how in motion the electrons are. Pushing the electrons a little closer and tighter can cause a stronger field. When electrons produce a magnet force, you can use a magnet to make the electrons mover which is how an hydroelectric generator works. A hydroelectric generator is a machine that uses mechanical energy to generate electricity, the hydroelectricity comes from a large volumes of falling water to create the mechanical energy. For more than 100 years the simplest way to produce the volumes of falling water needed to make electricity was to use dams to create electricity. But sometimes dams ... The Brothers Karamazov by Fyodor Dostoyevsky Before me sat a young couple. It was not our first meeting. They came often for counsel. We just are struggling in life, they exclaimed at the beginning of an evening session. What are you struggling with? I replied. As usual, a confused maze and daze of wandering contemplations ensued. Well, we just don t know. We are just not happy. Oh, we love each other, and things are very good, but . . . well, life just seems sort of empty and meaningless. Do you know what I mean? They replied, Ah, well, guess we really don t know. What does we don t know mean? So, some contemplative homework was in order. Their assignment was to begin thoroughly assessing their lives through the lens of one question, For what do I live? What I call this is forces of change. Secondly is how we process that change. It may simple and it may not be simple. Lastly once you process the change you are then able to manage change. If you manage change you will not be as stressed if you let it take over you. Change is never when you are ready. Yes you may plan to move to a new home or new state but you are still dealing with stress. The majority of us have change come to us when we are not ready. The most change that we have in our life is that of careerchange or work changes. We see it every day businesses may close or merge with another business. This is a big deal because people need to look for a new job or plan to retire. This change would be consider planned change. (Nelson Quick, 2013 p.668). Another change is that when managers are changed at your job. Managers come and go in a company. Many managers will move up in the company and many will pursue a different career. Also since the sample size is sufficiently large, then it does not pose any problem with the normality (since np 5). b. In this case to get the correlational coefficient of the variable if it is ordinal, then I could use Spearman rank rho coefficient and if it is interval or ratio level I could use the Pearson product coefficient of correlation. Since zebra mussels must attach to a stable structure, this can cause serious issues for power plants, water supply facilities, and other industrial buildings which utilize water pipes. When the mussels clump together, they can constrict the flow of pipes, thus causing reduced performance in air conditioning, fire equipment, etc. Not only do they harm structures, but they are also responsible for a depleted population of smaller fish. Because zebra mussels are filter feeders, they can filter vast amounts of water in a relatively short amount of time. This in turn will greatly reduce the number of phytoplankton, depriving smaller fish of their means of nutrition. Eventually, this will cause a chain reaction that can affect an entire food chain. Zebra mussels do however provide a few extra benefits. Since these mussels filter vast amounts of water each and every day, it can greatly improve the clarity of water. When the clarity is good, it allows sunlight to reach greater depths. Because of this, aquatic plants can grow and flourish and a much higher rate. These plants may then become eventual homes for some fish. Two years after zebra mussels were first discovered in Lake Erie, the clarity improved by ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 48. The First Crusades During The Crusades Jeet Kothari Mr. Turner Honors British Literature A 29 January 2016 The First CrusadesThe First Crusades were military planned missions planned by Christian leaders; the proclaimed purpose was to recover Jerusalem as well as Antioch, which were in an area known as the Holy Land, from the controls of Turks. The reason why they feature so prominently in history is because they were one of the longest battles in history. All three of the Crusades lasted about 200 years. Additionally, the Crusades were a major reason for why Europe came out of the Dark Ages. After 200 years of darkness, Europe had a rebirth. The Crusades were not an early example of European colonization even if they did create some kingdoms there for a while. ( The Crusades ). It has been argued that the knights who went adventuring in the Crusades were the second and third sons of nobles who, because of European inheritance rules, had little to look forward by staying in Europe. However, most of the people who responded to the call to Crusade weren t knights at all; they were poor people. Secondly, most of nobles who did go crusading were lords of grand estates. ( Crusades .) This analysis of people of the Crusades ignores religious motivations. History has approached religions as occurrences. For instance, the unpredictable environments of Mesopotamia and Egypt led to a belief in various types of Gods which would help solve each of their problems. Media And Gender Roles In The Media At a young age, children begin to comprehend gender roles, which are a set of societal norms that determine what is considered acceptable, desirable and appropriate based on an individual s sex. We obtain these gender associated roles from various places and one dominant source with direct influence is the media. Media plays a critical role in influencing genderroles through impacting the career choices we make, the behavioral patterns we implement in our lives and the sexual stereotypes we have been conditioned to accept. In the first place, society has grown to associate certain occupations with a particular gender. One reason this occurs is as a result of mass media displaying a certain gender occupying a particular job position more than the other genders. Females are often displayed on television, magazines and internet sources as occupying positions such as housewives, nurses, receptionists and teachers. On the other hand, males are portrayed in roles such as the family s breadwinner, doctors and principles. For example, in the show I Love Lucy , Lucy is a housewife looking to escape her domesticated lifestyle. In the process of doing so her ventures quickly turn to antics, leaving husband Ricky, who is the family s breadwinner, to correct the mess she creates (Rosie 357). Sequential interdependency has a serial form. There is the direct interdependency of units on each other: the output of the entity becomes the input for the followed one. Both parts make contributions to and are sustained by the whole. In case of reciprocal interdependency, the outputs of each become the inputs for the others, but not in a serial form. Each unit poses contingency for the other. Reciprocal interdependency has the highest level of complexity and dominates in construction projects, which shows the need for the highest level of integration.
