Community Based Participatory Summary
After our discussions in class and reflecting on the readings it made me think more critically about the
efforts actually put forth to young kids ad their communities. The fact that programs are not always
implemented help a kids growing up experience to the best of their ability due to the lack of concern if
it is another race or ethnicity is heart wrenching. As time goes on I like to think those thoughts and
bystanders have passed but that is not always the case. The environment in which someone grows up
in has a lot to say about his or her character and future holdings as an individual. After seeing the
effect CBPR had in the reading Engaging Homeless Youth in Community Based Participatory
Research: A Case Study from Skid Row, Los Angeles was impactful in the fact they video tapped the
condition, discriminations and harassment one faced in a multicultural society. I know where I grew

doing this research shows how important the desire to have a responsive, active and equitable role in
the community advances the public good and when students and teachers are civically engaged with
the right preparation. (What is Community Based Research, n.d. p.1) It builds connections starting

Health Insurance Case
3. Particular analysis results
Links between single variables of health insurance and all remaining variables accounted for 8.85% of
all network connections (Blue and red links in Figure 1. A full list of links is available in the
supplemental material). According to general analysis results, by exploring these links with particular
emphases on those constituting the most relevant relationships with demographics, culture and
income, we explain the role of health insurance in the whole landscape of social resources for
wellbeing.
Forty five pairwise links (23 incoming and 22 outgoing) constitute the relationship between health
insurance and demographic characteristics. As demographics variables such as age, sex, and relation

Compensation and Benefits Strategy
Landslide Limousine (LL), a small business in Austin, Texas, hired Atwood and Allen Consulting

the market, a compensation structure, a total compensation and benefits strategy, and performance
incentives and merit based pay to recognize and engage employees. This will help to identify
applicable laws related to pay and benefits. This paper includes citations from one peer reviewed
book, three government websites, four commercial websites, and one University of Phoenix online

Position in the Market
The company s ability to pay is less than that of its competitors and will remain constrained until the
company can establish a reputation and gain a share of the market (Cascio, 2013, p. 420), so the
company should position itself carefully in the market. LL should allocate 25% of its budget for salary
and benefits and use performance incentives, merit based pay to keep fixed labor costs low. LL should
pay employees $9.33 per hour, which is $19,406 per year and is $2 per hour less than industry average
for Austin, Texas. The company should pay management a salary 5% higher than employees to
maintain the balance of compensation rates (Cascio, 2013, pp. 423 424). The company should use
additional benefits, performance based incentives, and merit pay to attract, retain, and motivate
employees who share the company s vision and goals (Cascio, 2013, p. 423).
Total Compensation and Benefits Strategy The total compensation and benefits strategy of the
company should place an emphasis on compensation through incentives with a reduced fixed labor
cost. If the company is successful, employees receive additional compensation and if the company is
experiencing difficulty gaining a market share or if there is an economic downturn, the company has a
reduced labor cost (Cascio, 2013, p. 420). The company should not use pay grades because of hybrid

Summary Of The Beginning Of A Long Poem On Why I Burned...
What is something society does that makes you hate? Many people have the tendency to either reveal
their emotions externally to the public or keep their emotions wrapped inside. The poem, The
Beginning of a Long Poem on Why I Burned the City by Lawrence Benford and Jimmy the Terrorist
by Omar Ahmed reveal the effects of racism in society and how one may handle the situation. In
comparing, Benford and Ahmed reveal the effects of one s experiences of injustice which can later
follow into adulthood and the two ways it is handled. In the poem, The Beginning of a Long Poem on
Why I Burned the City , the speaker [grows] up in hate [that] [bubbles] in the back streets (2 3).
Already at a young age the speaker knows being black living in his city, hate surrounds him. The
hatred continues where [he] shined shoes with [his] teeth , proving the city uses him as an object
rather than a person leading up to his anger (6,7). Unable to defend himself or do anything at all
because talking back would result in consequences, bringing attention to him and his family. While in
Jimmy the Terrorist , during Jamaal s growing, his choice of the name Jimmy the Terrorist had a
peculiar reason. The violence of the last decade...knowing the face of [his] death at the age of fifteen ,
as this was India, where not much your right or privilege, but a part of your identity (2,4). Jamaal s
facing of obstacles continues as his eyes are filled with fear because he knows his life will end.

Galtung Model Of Conflict
Framework Models
We begn by offering a simplified model of johan Galtungs seminal thinking on the relationship
between conflict violence and peace.
Galtung s models of conflict ,violence and peace
İn the late 1960s Johan Galtung proposed an influential model pf conflict that encompasses both
symmetric conflicts he suggested that conflict could be viewed as triangle with contradiction Attitude
and behaviour at its vertices. Here the contradiction refers to the underliyng conflict sitution which
includes the actual or perceieved incompatibility of goals between the conflict parties generated by

Second we would do well to heed Singer advice that a classificatory system should remain as
atheorical as possible lest by accepting conventiaonal labels of certain armed conflicts we buy into
simplistic interpretations, ultimately embrace disastrous reactions and responses we will succeded in
finding a typology which is logically exhaustive mutually exclusive operationally and substantively
comparable.
These two types of conflict again coincide quite closely with our revolution and identity conflict
except that interstate conflict and non interstate conflict are conflated in the uppsala typology under
the heading territory conflict .
Finally we are also tempted to distinguish revolution and identity conflicts in turn from a third class of
of non interstate conflict factional conflict in which the fightingin is not about revolutionary
ideological or identity issues but about the competing interest or power struggles of political or
criminal factions.

Research Paper On Arshile Gorky
Arshile Gorky, one of the legacies in American art, created beautiful yet tragic paintings during his
lifetime. It is disappointing to imagine that his name is not well known among the abstract
expressionists, as he had so much influence and deserves to be more well recognized. In fact, I had
chosen Gorky without knowing who he was at all or what kind of artist he was. The reason I chose
Gorky for this research paper was actually because of his name since it sounded interesting. Based on
his name, I imagined Gorki would be crazy or out there , mainly because Gorky sounds like the slang
word, corky . So from that, I imagined I would find some art pieces that were really eye popping, and
not traditional. Basically, my expectations were right ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even other top artists had complimented him and his work, like his good friend Willem De Kooning
who excitingly told, I met a lot of artists but then I met Gorky... He had an extraordinary gift for
hitting the nail on the head; remarkable. and Andre Breton who exclaimed that Corky s piece, The
Liver is the Cock s Comb, was one of the most important paintings in America . The reason the public
adored Gorky as well as other fellow artists was because he brought emotions to the table, and pathos
strike the public. Not only that, Gorky also brought his own style and message to the table something
similar to surrealists, but distinguished enough that he became a prominent link between surrealists
and abstract expressionists. He is a bridge of two artist generations, and that is why he is so favorable.
In my opinion, some of his artwork I can not make sense of at all. However, he does have some great
pieces, like Study for Nighttime, Enigma and Nostalgia (1932), The Artist s Mother (1926 or 1936),
and The Leaf of the Artichoke (1944). These pieces are extremely abstract, but now that I know the
history and meaning behind his work makes it so the artwork connects with me more and that I can
understand what he is trying to say and all of the emotions he is bleeding out onto the canvas.
Therefore, I believe he deserves the respect of being one of the greatest American artists that have
existed, as his accomplishments have gone

Essay A Comparison of Macbeth and Hamlet
A Comparison of Macbeth and Hamlet MACBETH stands in contrast throughout with Hamlet; in the
manner of opening more especially. In the latter, there is a gradual ascent from the simplest forms of
conversation to the language of impassioned intellect, yet the intellect still remaining the seat of
passion: in the former, the invocation is at once made to the imagination and the emotions connected
therewith. Hence the movement throughout is the most rapid of all Shakspeare s plays; and ... Show

affected bravado in confronting them. In all the rest, Macbeth s language is the grave utterance of the
very heart, conscience sick, even to the last faintings of moral death. It is the same in all the other
characters. The variety arises from rage, caused ever and anon by disruption of anxious thought, and
the quick transition of fear into it.
In Hamlet and Macbeth the scene opens with superstition; but, in each it is not merely different, but
opposite. In the first it is connected with the best and holiest feelings; in the second with the shadowy,
turbulent, and unsanctified cravings of the individual will. Nor is the purpose the same; in the one the
object is to excite, whilst in the other it is to mark a mind already excited. Superstition, of one sort or
another, is natural to victorious generals; the instances are too notorious to need mentioning. There is
so much of chance

The Importance Of Taxing IRS
When it comes to taxes, people often make mistakes which are quite normal. However, when these
mistakes lead the IRS to perform audits of your business or personal assets, repaying them can be a
burden. While it is required by the IRS that you pay your taxes in full, circumstances may prevent you
from doing so, but if your taxes aren t paid in full the IRS will charge a penalty. No need to worry,
however, because there are different ways for you to resolve this issue. To learn how to resolve your
tax debt, read the guide below and begin paying the IRS the money you owe Uncle Sam.

Undue hardship means, more than being in inconvenience according to the IRs. You must give proof
that if you were to pay your taxes on the due date you would suffer a significant financial loss. For
example, if you have to sell your property at a loss in order for you to pay your taxes that would be

Twenty-Year Goal Research Paper
Twenty Year Goal
Background:
At the beginning of my high school journey (grade 6 onwards), I was very interested in becoming a
doctor. More specifically an orthopedic surgeon. Finding out that I could not go into my field due to
my hand tremors was difficult to take in at such a young age. Conducting more and more research as I
got older, showed me that coming into engineering would give me so many options to continue my
interest in biology, perhaps designing machines that could work more efficiently etc.
The last few years of high school made it obvious to me that engineering was the field I should go
into. Physics and math were my two favorite subjects, and I excelled in them. Aside from that, I
learned many leadership and time management ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The one I am most interested in is the Clean Snowmobile Team, as it combines two things I am
passionate about, snow (and skiing) and protecting the environment. I am hoping that by 2B, I will
have enough work experience and sufficient knowledge about engineering, to come up with creative,
and lateral ideas that could solve the problem of tailpipe emissions and noise pollution made by
current snowmobiles. 2B and 3A will give me a lot of time to find out more about myself. None of
these terms are considered to be hard, and so, I can use my extra time throughout the terms, to explore
different fields of mechanical engineering that I had not previously thought of. This would help me
find out if biomechanics is the right choice for me. 3B is the toughest term in undergraduate
mechanical engineering at the University of Waterloo. This will mean that I am going to have to focus
on my academics a lot more than previous semesters. This may eliminate my chance of joining student
teams, and play as many sports. This term is also an important one in terms of co op because I would
be looking for my first of final two jobs. This can help me decide my future, as many people return to
one of their last two co op jobs after

Citizens United for Arguments
PRO
Resolved: On balance, the Supreme Court decision in Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission
is undemocratic.
We affirm.
To better the round, we clarify the following:
First, the definition of election process
ELECTIONS are based on three organizing concepts: equal respect, free choice, and popular
sovereignty are the building blocks of fair and just elections. The democratic process should treat all
citizens as free and equal persons. As applied to the electoral process this requires that each citizen
equal opportunity to have his or her vote equally counted.
Contention 1: Super PACs decrease voter turnout
Subpoint A: Voter turnout is a pre requisite to the election process
A flourishing democracy presupposes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
3. Citizens United increases political polarization
A. Increased levels of political spending increase polarization
In the 2012 Presidential election, the majority of outside spending was a result of the Citizens United
decision1. The unique increase of money translated into an increase in television ads, radio ads, and
direct mailings. Unfortunately, the large increase in political rhetoric caused a move to political
extremes rivaling those at the end of the Civil War2. It explains that micro targeting of advertising
allowed corporations and Super PACS to create echo chambers, where only points of view in
agreement with the audience were expressed. Polarization was an issue before the Citizens United
ruling, but the unique increase in rhetoric caused the worst polarization in 120 years.
B. Polarization causes increasing amounts of low information voters
Increased shifts to the political extremes causes voters to vote in lockstep with party leaders. Polarized
voters are less informed on energy, healthcare, education, and other key issues4. Polarized voters also
ignore fundamental arguments in favor of partisanship. When told that their party endorsed a certain
stance, the polarized voters became more supportive, regardless of facts. Because the election process

Essay on Comparing Love after Love and This Room
Comparing Love after Love and This Room
The two poems with which I compare each other are both poems of celebration. Celebration of life,
love and your identity. The first is
Love after Love by Derek Walcott. This poem is about self discovery.
Walcott suggests that we spend years assuming an identity, but eventually discover who we really are
and this is like two different people meeting and making friends and sharing a meal together. Walcott
presents this in terms of the love feast or Eucharist of the Christian church Eat...Give wine. Give
bread. And it is not clear whether this other person is merely human or in some way divine, this is also
an imperative which would suggest that they are divine and so have a

As this route is too boring and predictable for this newfound liberated mind.
The first line in Love.. is,
The time will come
When, with elation,
You will greet yourself arriving,
at your own door,
a line foretelling that eventually you will recognise who you are.
Whether this will take a mirror or whether a person will realise who they really are through their own
head and deep inside their own souls. It also suggests that you shouldn t care about others opinions
with the line in your own mirror.. which makes you wonder How do I see myself? which I thought
could be trying to question basic human ideas, why do people look at who they are in the first person,
why is the person whose eyes they see through them?! What makes them that individual? The answers
here are clear, a love for life, for one s self and what they feel within their soul. Both poems, I felt
used techniques to suggest being unique. For example, In This Room the author uses extensive use of
caesura, using punctuation in the middle of a line, and enjambment, a technique by which you don t
use normal punctuation at the end of each sentence, thus creating a flowing and textured piece of
poetry. With these techniques, Dharker has created flowing text, I think that this might be a suggestion
that life flows quickly and that you should take advantage of it because of this.
The second stanza suggests that one

My Prom Experience

The week of prom was here and it terrified me. I was ready, but I did not know if my dress would

Monday, April 10, 2017, and it is the day the store finished making my dress. I arrived at the mall

Moor Research Paper
The derivation of the English term, Moor, is the Greek word, μαυρο or mavro which accurately means
black, blackened or charred , says taneter.org. They go on to then say, how this English term Moor has
been used to describe black or very dark things such as, Mavri Thalassa which refers to the Black Sea.
Ancient Greeks used this term to describe the complexion of Africans or objects of that matter. The
origination of the term Moor is even used in various terms that describe the color black . For example
the Spanish word blackberry , is translated in Spanish as zaramora , which carries the root word mor .

Disney Corporttion´s Negative Influence in Children via...
What started out as cartoon shows such as Mickey Mouse has now changed into a profit driven
corporation. With TV shows, movies, clothing lines, toys, CDs, books, and theme parks, Disney is
creating billions in revenue. However, the profits are at the cost of the youth. One way the youth are
being harmed is children are absorbed in watching television shows that Disney plays daily. The
amount of time spent watching television has increased in the years, while the amount of time spent
playing games outside has decreased. Because of this, health issues in children have risen, especially
in the United States. Also, children begin to idolize the child actors from the shows on Disney such as
Miley Cyrus in Hannah Montana . Although some actresses are good role models, most usually are
not. Child actors are more likely to develop drug addictions, alcohol addictions, and eating disorders
than an average teenager. Not only are the child actors harmed from being put into a crazy lifestyle,
the children who idolize these actors are harmed as well. Therefore, Disney s influence on the youth is
harmful and should be limited. Obesity and other health issues are become a problem for the youth in
America. While poor diets contribute greatly to the problem, there are other factors as well, for
instance, lack of exercise or physical activity. With numerous television shows for children of all ages,

The Nature Of An Industry s Competitiveness And Develop...
Summary The five forces model was developed by Michael E. Porter to help companies assess the
nature of an industry s competitiveness and develop corporate strategies accordingly. Michael Porter s
five forces model is based on the insight that a corporate strategy should meet the opportunities and
threats in the organizations external environment. Especially, competitive strategy should be based on
an understanding of industry structures and the way they change. Porter has identified five competitive
forces that shape every industry and every market. These forces determine the intensity of competition
and hence the profitability and attractiveness of an industry. The objective of corporate strategy should
be to modify these competitive forces in a way that improves the position of the organization. Porters
model supports analysis of the driving forces in an industry. Based on the information derived from
the Porter s Five Forces Analysis, management can decide how to influence or to exploit particular
characteristics of their industry. This paper will analyze Porter s five competitive forces model and
will apply the concept to discuss and structure a new office of Travel service sponsored by

President Franklin D. Roosevelt, James Barber identifies them as an Active positive . Active positives
display personal growth and stability, which they take pleasure in their job and the challenges they
face with power productivity to pursue their objectives. Also, they pragmatic political figures that
possess flexibility in their pursuit of achieving their goals and are willing to alter or abolishing their
goals rather than experience severe consequences (Maltese, 164). President Franklin D. Roosevelt and
President William Clinton had similar and contrasting viewpoints on domestic policy. Both presidents
took office which there was an economic struggle and unemployment was low. Also, the
unemployment rate was declining, business s were going bankrupt and an international crisis they had

Great Depression that occurred because of the Stock Market crash in 1929, and fighting a two front in
World War II. When President Roosevelt took office, the unemployment rate was 25 %, which is

Comparing Structure And Culture Of The Same Industry Essay
1. Compare structure and culture of two or more firms in the same industry. Which would you prefer
to work for?
The two firms being compared were google and apple, both firms dominate the intersection of
technology and consumer access. In addition they both compete across a huge range of sub industries
such as computing software, hardware, operating systems, applications and web browsing amongst
others. However each firm takes a different approach from an organizational perspective.
GOOGLE
Google Inc. is an American multinational technology company specializing in internet related services
and products. It was founded on September 1998 by Larry Page and Sergey Brin, whilst the current

Organizational Structure
This refers to how activities such as task allocation, coordination and supervision are directed towards
achievement of organizational goals, therefore it seeks to define a way an organization conducts its
business, treats its employee, customer and wider community. Moreover, Google represents a cross
functional structure also known as matrix or flat structure. This means that employees, groups or
teams can bypass middle management and report directly to the top management, one being the CEO,

Research Intervention And Prevention Programs
While earning my undergraduate degree, I had a formative internship experience as a visit monitor at a
court appointed family visitation center. I ensured that children could interact with their parent in a
way that was safe, appropriate, and healthy for the child s physical and emotional health. Each of the
families I monitored had histories of violence, neglect, substance abuse, criminal history, or parental
mental illness. I witnessed the resiliency and risk factors that affected the children these children, who
ranged in age from infancy to adolescence. However, I was impacted by the fact that many of these
children were not receiving the intervention services they likely needed to promote their social,
emotional, and academic growth, even though their family was recently and is possibly still in crisis.
While this was upsetting to me, it motivated me to pursue a career in developmental psychology
where I could impact children in need of effective intervention and prevention programs. Earning this
degree from Vanderbilt University would allow me to research intervention and prevention programs

Aboriginal People In Canada
Acquiring an education and the act of being educated in a school are two enormously different
teachings. Indigenous Peoples of the world have been educating each other within their own
communities for thousands of years. Through the processes of ritual, spirituality, and tradition, these
cultures thrive, sustainably, by living in unison with their land. As Dr. Weber Pillwax explains, First
Nations Peoples of Canada live in relationship to their to the land and their the community and these
values are therefore ingrained into Aboriginal identity. Furthermore, the molecular transference of
these distinct features of First Nations culture, which Dr. Weber Pillwax articulates using Dr. Candace

Nonetheless, European settlers, particularly during Colonization, made the assumption that their
culture, religious beliefs, and educational systems was superior; and, as part of the process towards
colonizing the land that is now Canada, this group of European people attempted to abolish First
Nations Peoples culture. As Bonita Lawrence reveals in her overview of Aboriginal people in North
America, the colonial act of establishing legal definitions of Indianess . . . enabled the Canadian
government to remove a significant sector of Native people from the land, and in doing so,
colonization inevitably removed a sizable number of Aboriginal people from their culture (7). These
historic Colonial events irreversibly changed Aboriginal culture. Aside from the glaring fact that
Aboriginal children were expected to conform and attend a colonial educational system, irrespective
of their cultural education, status Aboriginal children, during Colonialism, essentially became the
initial step towards a reacculturation of the Aboriginal

Elvis Presley Persuasive Essay
Elvis Presley better known as the king of rock n roll and Michael Jackson better known as the king of
pop, both are beyond iconic and have become some of the most famous musicians in history. Two
words to describe these amazing musicians are simply talented and influential. The two may be known
as the kings but they have a lot more in common than that, as well as many differences.
Michael Jackson first started his career in 1964. He was the lead singer in a group with his four
brothers. The group was called the Jackson 5. The Jackson 5 started out performing locally in their
home town Gary, Indiana. They then went on to win a talent show, where the winner would open for
Bobby Taylor a couple nights later. Bobby Taylor s promoter knew the group was unique and went out
of his way to get them heard by Berry Gordy, Motown records founder. ... Show more content on

He was addicted to prescription pill, just like Michael. The last few years Elvis lived a life of
depression, loneliness, and obesity. Elvis step brother has claimed Elvis would pass out at the dinner
table, due to being under the influence. When he would pass out they would have to pull the food out
of his mouth so he would not choke. On August 16, 1977 Elvis was found on his bathroom floor
unconscious. He suffered a heart attack, due to his serious drug problem. When they completed his
autopsy, they found he was not in the best of health, he had an enlarged colon that had feces in it. The
feces in his colon was probably there for four to five months. His autopsy also stated that elvis had
eleven different prescription drugs in his system. Also in his system, he had ten times the prescribed

Charles Dickens Doubling Quotes
The motif of doubling has been repeatedly shown throughout the book. Charles Dickens finds
numerous ways to show the constant pattern of doubling from using children, to using exact
metaphors. Life could either be one way or the other. Factors in life an either duplicate themselves or
oppose themselves. He uses this repeated motif to emphasize the theme of life being a parallel
universe. The prominent quote in Book 1, is the perfect example of how he does it it was the best of
times, it was the worst of times. This well known quote continues on by saying it was the age of
wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was
the season of light, it was the season of darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of
despair, we had everything before us, we have nothing before us.... Everything Dickens describes
opposes the other. Another way dickens shows doubling is by comparing their children to their
parents. The first pair he compares is Jimmy Cruncher and his son. Jerry Cruncher, also known as the
resurrection man is a grave robber in the book. His son Young Jerry follows him one night and sees
what Jerry does. The next day he asks his father and informs that he wants to be like his father when
he grows up. This shows doubling in more than one way. Initially, his name is Young Jerry. Secondly,
he wants to follow in his father s footsteps. Another child to parent pair is Young Lucie Manette and
her mother Lucie. Lucie Manette grew up without a father, he was in prison. When he was released
she was all grown up, however she didn t let that affect their father daughter relationship. As Lucie
grows up and marries a man named Charles Darnay, they have a girl named Lucie, in other words,
Young Lucie. Charles Darnay flees to France and ends up in prison, trying to resolve the issue the
Manettes beg for mercy but none is granted. This shows the pattern of doubling because now Young
Lucie will experience growing up without a father, just like her mother did. Dickens also shows the
compare and contrast side of doubling by comparing Lucie Manette and Madame Defarge. Both
characters have completely different life styles. Lucie lives is London and is

Shark Finning Should Stop The Sharks
Shark finning should stop. Shark poaching or finning has been going on for a while to make a dish
called shark fin soup . People who eat that most likely don t know what happens to make it. Poachers
catch the sharks, and put them on their boats and hold them down while they cut all of their fins off.
The worst part is once they re done, they drop them back into the water and make them suffer as they
lose tons of blood, and later suffocate or be eaten by other animals. It makes me feel sorry for all of
those sharks that went through this, and some people might say that poaching is justified for sharks
because they kill people, but what they don t understand is that they are animals, and it is just instinct.
You don t blame cats for killing birds do you? They are known for killing. Movies have put that
straight. That s why I want to help stop this inhumane act on poor innocent creatures that don t even
know that they are doing something that is considered wrong . Remember, 10 people a year are killed
by sharks, but 3 sharks are killed every second by humans. (Stop Shark Finning.Net no specific
author). Sharks are being murdered every second for the result of shark fin soup. Sharks don t deserve
this. It is torture for them, and all we want out of this painful experience is soup. Why do they need to
kill so many? Well, apparently the requests for shark fin soup is growing. But, I believe the demand
for the shark population to survive should be bigger. People say that shark

The Violent Resistance Movement Of Brazil And Mexico
In Gledhill s and Schell s book, New Approaches to Resistance: In Brazil and Mexico, the topic of
different forms of resistance is mentioned among different groups of people. These groups had
different motivations and goals in achieving systematic social change to their local community. The
various resistance groups were made up of the poor, marginalized, working class, religious minorities,
and ethnic minorities. Moreover, these subaltern groups faced opposition from the powerful elite,
which consisted of the government, multinational corporations, wealthy landowners, Catholic
religious elite, and white European dominated institutions. However, these subaltern groups used
different forms of resistance that changes our perspective of what resistance really means. The
subaltern groups used violent, peaceful, covert, and unorganized forms of resistance to achieve their
goals.
The use of violent resistance by subaltern groups is the most common form of resistance when we
think about revolution and change. This form of resistance occurs when elite power structures are
attacked by the marginalized in society. In particular, the violent resistance movement led by Maria
Lopez in chapter 3 highlights the brutality that is caused by violent revolutions. This resistance
movement used any means necessary to eradicate any people or symbols of the Spanish. This
subaltern group used murder, torture, and control as a means to achieve social change. Furthermore,

5. Conclusion
1. Introduction
Women are a very important part of our society. Starting from our childhood when we are born
women as a mother is the only one because of which we become part of this beautiful world. Then she
takes care of you as a mother. As a grandmother she tells you stories of fairy ghosts. In the childhood
when you are not able to sleep she as a mother tells you Lori so that you can easily sleep. Thereafter in
the same childhood when you commit some mistakes then she as a sister saves you from your father s
anger.
Then when you are young she comes to your life as a wife becomes a very important part of your life
she is with you in your good and bad times. And hence she helps you in every single step of your life
then only you become a complete person.
So women s contribution is very immense in the social economic development of various
communities in the world. Their political involvement may not be that much in the past but current
women s participation in politics all over the world is witnessing huge increase in leaps and bounds.
In India and other developing countries only a few women are actively involved in both high level
politics and decision making positions. Women s participation in politics in the developing world is

The Courtroom Trial That Can Affect The Verdict Verdicts
There are numerous factors in a courtroom trial that can significantly affect the verdict reached by
jurors and can potentially influence whether the perpetrator of crime is ultimately convicted or is
acquitted. In this essay I will explore several of these factors including how the personal
characteristics of the defendant (e.g. attractiveness, gender and race) persuasion techniques (e.g. order
of testimony) and jury characteristics can determine the conviction of a criminal.
Psychological research has shown that the attractiveness can influence jury decisions with studies
demonstrating an attractive bias in that attractive defendants tend to receive more lenient sentences for
similar crimes carried out by less attractive people. For example, Castellow et al (1990) aimed to test
the effect of the attractiveness of a defendant on guilty verdicts. This was done by conducting a lab
experiment in which 145 students were given details of a sexual harassment case and then shown
images of a defendant victim. These images had been previously categorised as attractive/unattractive
by a panel as perceptions of attractiveness are mainly consistent between genders and races (Eisenthal
et al. 2006). It was found that the combination of an attractive victim unattractive defendant created
the highest percentage of guilty verdicts (83%) when they were asked whether the defendant was
guilty of sexual harassment. However, only 41% guilty verdicts were reported when the defendant was

The Goal Of A Lifetime Goal
Lifetime Goals
Establishing lifetime goals is inherently a challenging exercise, yet an essential one for any person to
strive for prosperity in society. Goals are the very essence of what makes humans unique, we have the
ability to visualize a yet unseen world, we have to ability to hope. Even though logic may tell us
something is impossible, hope is the gift that gives us that spark in our mind, the spark that says Even
though there is a small chance, there is a chance nonetheless. Hopes and dreams are what drives us to
be better, to achieve more than anyone else, it is hope that encourages us to evolve. This being said,
my lifetime goal is very simple, I just wish to be happy. The goal of happiness seems to be very short
and sweet, however, it is deceptively elusive in our changing times. Being successful and making
money are commonly confused with happiness when in fact, they are merely avenues that may or may
not lead you towards your goal, but not a substitute for it; id est, they are a means to an end, not the
end itself.
The things that I have done, and plan to do are in accordance with what I believe will help me achieve
my end goal, happiness. To start, I have always been a very good student, but most people would say
that on a college essay, so the question is, What evidence do I have to substantiate such a claim? I
would like to submit this essay as my first form of evidence. I hope, by my insights illustrated in this
paper, that my intellect is given a

Melting Pot Myths
Final Essay The myths of this chapter were all interesting, but two of them were especially
noteworthy. The Myth of the Melting Pot and of the Myths of Freedom were the most significant and
far reaching myths of the book. These are myths that every American has engrained in their minds.
Ever since birth Americans are told that they live in a free country with a diverse cultured society. But
these myths are misleading. The myth of the Melting Pot and of Freedom in accord with the other
myths mentioned in this book deceivingly make the United States appear to be more equal than it
actually is. The Myth of the Melting Pot says that the United States is like a melting pot of cultures

The country lacks the freedoms that were originally promised during its formation and also specific
freedoms that would have been reasonable to establish during this day and age. First of all, the country
lacks one of the rights promised in the First Amendment, which is the freedom of press. In The
Decline of American Press Freedom , Anne Applebaum explains many instances where freedom of
press was restricted. One of these restrictions was in Yale where the University Press was not allowed
to publish their book due to the controversial topic it was discussing. The book talked about the events
following the publication of comical depictions of the Prophet Muhammad in a 2005 Danish
newspaper. The university said that the publication was too much of a safety threat and should not be

liberties that were never established but should be. Lori Andrews, in her piece George Orwell... Meet

such as advertising companies. She supports her claim by including leaked search logs of real people
to show to what extent that these people record internet users actions. (707 719) As a country that

Child Protective Services In Child Abuse Cases
Child Protective Services (CPS) promotes the safety and well being of children through intervention
in reported child abuse cases. The goal of CPS is to keep children in their homes when it is deemed
safe, and to provide them with a safe environment when they are determined to be at risk. CPS
workers have a wide range of roles that they must play on a day to day basis.
Firstly, they must do a lot of desk work, receiving and evaluating reports of child abuse cases, most of
which are made over the phone. They then must use reasoning and investigative skills to determine if
the child is at risk. If so, then CPS workers counsel and rehabilitate the child and family. They often
provide support for each family for up to one year. If a child cannot be put back into their home, then
workers also must coordinate an adoptive home, foster parents, or refer the child and their family to
other support services. CPS workers follow a standard protocol when responding to a child abuse
report. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If the child s immediate safety is not at risk, then the worker will work with the family to reduce the
risk of future maltreatment and help the child cope with the effects of previous maltreatment. If the

the child from harm. The child typically goes to a foster home as counseling begins. While the goal of
the CPS worker is to be able to reunite the child with their family after intensive counseling, they also
begin to develop a concurrent plan. This means seeking out a safe adoptive home for the

Human security is a very broad concept of security and has been developed in order to challenge
traditional security studies, after people realized that nowadays poverty, diseases, and natural disaster
are a much bigger threat to the security of people than war. However even though human security has
emerged as a challenge of ideas, human and traditional/national security are not mutually exclusive
concepts. Many people have argued that it is not possible to attain human security without traditional

The Struggle In Indignation In Washington Territory
The Civil War began with the Confederate shelling of Fort Sumter in Charleston Harbor, South

Romeo s Honesty

not only do I believe this I can also prove this. Which is what I shall do for you on this essay. I

beginning of the story Romeo not only happens to be in love with someone else. That person ends up
not loving him back and hurting him. Now what this has to do with this is that when you get your
heart broken by someone that you gave everything to and end up finding out that they do not feel the
same at all you get hurt. There is no way to prevent that unless of course that you are not actually in
love with that person. Also when your hearty gets broken you ended up becoming what I like to call
love blind. It is where u do not care for only love anymore you want to be in control. You want to
make sure that other person loves you no matter what the cost. And this times you want looks, action,

that you think you are trying to avoid being hurts again.

The Status And Perception Of Women
Literature Review Draft 2
For centuries, the status and perception of women has been a disputed and controversial subject. Due
to precarious political or social standings, even women in power were subject to the judgement and
power of men. When considering the portrayal of exceptional women throughout history, rarely has a
woman been able to fully embrace the stage without reservations. An analysis of research texts and
journal articles reveals and connects the way that a queen of ancient times and one of the English
Renaissance controlled their image, were affected by societal views of women, and were ultimately
depicted. Scholarship on Cleopatra and Queen Elizabeth I relays the idea that society and patriarchy
led to their respective authorities and depictions. Mary Hamer, author of Signs of Cleopatra, a
historical research text, investigates Cleopatra s cultural significance from her earliest representations
in her own time to her status as a symbol in modern times. In the chapter, Cleopatra: housewife, she
discusses Cleopatra s image between the fourteenth and seventeenth centuries, a time that spans the
invention of the printing press and the proliferance of Elizabethan playwright, William Shakespeare.
Hamer uses the work of Petrarch, Boccaccio, and Jan de Bray, which was spread rapidly due to the
printing press, as a lens to view Cleopatra s image. In regards to this image, she notes the changing
attitude towards women, a result of the Reformation creating an

Human Activity And Climate Change
HUMAN ACTIVITY AND CLIMATE CHANGE
WILLIAM WRIGHT
GRANTHAM UNIVERSITY
In this paper I will discuss Human Activity and Climate Change. I will discuss different human
activities that might affect climate change, things such as the burning of fossil fuels and how they
might contribute to climate change. To begin I will discuss what the definition of climate change.
Climate change is the change in the atmosphere by the amounts of carbon dioxide levels that come
from using fossil fuels. Climate change can occur when the Earth s atmosphere become warmer than
what it naturally should be. Affects that can happen from climate change is extreme weather change
which can cause flooding in areas that it has not flooded before as well as drought and glaciers to melt
as well as cause the environment to change. A lot of climate change is directly due to human activity;
one of the activities that humans have done is released large amount of carbon dioxide in the
atmosphere which is a greenhouse gas that comes from burning fossil fuels. Greenhouse gases have
wrapped around the earth s surface like an extra blanket causing the Earth to heat up much more and
affecting the balance of nature. Greenhouse gases are not only limited to large factories but also the
amount of vehicles on the road; cars produce carbon dioxide as well. History has shown that the
choices that we make can affect us on a large scale to include changing our environment as well as our
climate.

  • 2. Community Based Participatory Summary After our discussions in class and reflecting on the readings it made me think more critically about the efforts actually put forth to young kids ad their communities. The fact that programs are not always implemented help a kids growing up experience to the best of their ability due to the lack of concern if it is another race or ethnicity is heart wrenching. As time goes on I like to think those thoughts and bystanders have passed but that is not always the case. The environment in which someone grows up in has a lot to say about his or her character and future holdings as an individual. After seeing the effect CBPR had in the reading Engaging Homeless Youth in Community Based Participatory Research: A Case Study from Skid Row, Los Angeles was impactful in the fact they video tapped the condition, discriminations and harassment one faced in a multicultural society. According to general analysis results, by exploring these links with particular emphases on those constituting the most relevant relationships with demographics, culture and income, we explain the role of health insurance in the whole landscape of social resources for wellbeing. Forty five pairwise links (23 incoming and 22 outgoing) constitute the relationship between health insurance and demographic characteristics. LL should allocate 25% of its budget for salary and benefits and use performance incentives, merit based pay to keep fixed labor costs low. LL should pay employees $9.33 per hour, which is $19,406 per year and is $2 per hour less than industry average for Austin, Texas. The company should pay management a salary 5% higher than employees to maintain the balance of compensation rates (Cascio, 2013, pp. 423 424). The company should use additional benefits, performance based incentives, and merit pay to attract, retain, and motivate employees who share the company s vision and goals (Cascio, 2013, p. 423). Total Compensation and Benefits Strategy The total compensation and benefits strategy of the company should place an emphasis on compensation through incentives with a reduced fixed labor cost. If the company is successful, employees receive additional compensation and if the company is experiencing difficulty gaining a market share or if there is an economic downturn, the company has a reduced labor cost (Cascio, 2013, p. 420). • 6. Summary Of The Beginning Of A Long Poem On Why I Burned... What is something society does that makes you hate? Many people have the tendency to either reveal their emotions externally to the public or keep their emotions wrapped inside. The poem, The Beginning of a Long Poem on Why I Burned the City by Lawrence Benford and Jimmy the Terrorist by Omar Ahmed reveal the effects of racism in society and how one may handle the situation. In comparing, Benford and Ahmed reveal the effects of one s experiences of injustice which can later follow into adulthood and the two ways it is handled. In the poem, The Beginning of a Long Poem on Why I Burned the City , the speaker [grows] up in hate [that] [bubbles] in the back streets (2 3). Already at a young age the speaker knows being black living in his city, hate surrounds him. The hatred continues where [he] shined shoes with [his] teeth , proving the city uses him as an object rather than a person leading up to his anger (6,7). Unable to defend himself or do anything at all because talking back would result in consequences, bringing attention to him and his family. While in Jimmy the Terrorist , during Jamaal s growing, his choice of the name Jimmy the Terrorist had a peculiar reason. The violence of the last decade...knowing the face of [his] death at the age of fifteen , as this was India, where not much your right or privilege, but a part of your identity (2,4). • 8. Research Paper On Arshile Gorky Arshile Gorky, one of the legacies in American art, created beautiful yet tragic paintings during his lifetime. It is disappointing to imagine that his name is not well known among the abstract expressionists, as he had so much influence and deserves to be more well recognized. In fact, I had chosen Gorky without knowing who he was at all or what kind of artist he was. The reason I chose Gorky for this research paper was actually because of his name since it sounded interesting. Based on his name, I imagined Gorki would be crazy or out there , mainly because Gorky sounds like the slang word, corky . So from that, I imagined I would find some art pieces that were really eye popping, and not traditional. Basically, my expectations were right ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Even other top artists had complimented him and his work, like his good friend Willem De Kooning who excitingly told, I met a lot of artists but then I met Gorky... He had an extraordinary gift for hitting the nail on the head; remarkable. and Andre Breton who exclaimed that Corky s piece, The Liver is the Cock s Comb, was one of the most important paintings in America . The reason the public adored Gorky as well as other fellow artists was because he brought emotions to the table, and pathos strike the public. Not only that, Gorky also brought his own style and message to the table something similar to surrealists, but distinguished enough that he became a prominent link between surrealists and abstract expressionists. He is a bridge of two artist generations, and that is why he is so favorable. In my opinion, some of his artwork I can not make sense of at all. However, he does have some great pieces, like Study for Nighttime, Enigma and Nostalgia (1932), The Artist s Mother (1926 or 1936), and The Leaf of the Artichoke (1944). These pieces are extremely abstract, but now that I know the history and meaning behind his work makes it so the artwork connects with me more and that I can understand what he is trying to say and all of the emotions he is bleeding out onto the canvas. Therefore, I believe he deserves the respect of being one of the greatest American artists that have existed, as his accomplishments have gone ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the latter, there is a gradual ascent from the simplest forms of conversation to the language of impassioned intellect, yet the intellect still remaining the seat of passion: in the former, the invocation is at once made to the imagination and the emotions connected therewith. In all the rest, Macbeth s language is the grave utterance of the very heart, conscience sick, even to the last faintings of moral death. It is the same in all the other characters. The variety arises from rage, caused ever and anon by disruption of anxious thought, and the quick transition of fear into it. In Hamlet and Macbeth the scene opens with superstition; but, in each it is not merely different, but opposite. In the first it is connected with the best and holiest feelings; in the second with the shadowy, turbulent, and unsanctified cravings of the individual will. Nor is the purpose the same; in the one the object is to excite, whilst in the other it is to mark a mind already excited. No need to worry, however, because there are different ways for you to resolve this issue. More specifically an orthopedic surgeon. Finding out that I could not go into my field due to my hand tremors was difficult to take in at such a young age. Conducting more and more research as I got older, showed me that coming into engineering would give me so many options to continue my interest in biology, perhaps designing machines that could work more efficiently etc. The last few years of high school made it obvious to me that engineering was the field I should go into. None of these terms are considered to be hard, and so, I can use my extra time throughout the terms, to explore different fields of mechanical engineering that I had not previously thought of. This would help me find out if biomechanics is the right choice for me. 3B is the toughest term in undergraduate mechanical engineering at the University of Waterloo. To better the round, we clarify the following: First, the definition of election process ELECTIONS are based on three organizing concepts: equal respect, free choice, and popular sovereignty are the building blocks of fair and just elections. The democratic process should treat all citizens as free and equal persons. Increased levels of political spending increase polarization In the 2012 Presidential election, the majority of outside spending was a result of the Citizens United decision1. The unique increase of money translated into an increase in television ads, radio ads, and direct mailings. Unfortunately, the large increase in political rhetoric caused a move to political extremes rivaling those at the end of the Civil War2. It explains that micro targeting of advertising allowed corporations and Super PACS to create echo chambers, where only points of view in agreement with the audience were expressed. Polarization was an issue before the Citizens United ruling, but the unique increase in rhetoric caused the worst polarization in 120 years. B. Polarization causes increasing amounts of low information voters Increased shifts to the political extremes causes voters to vote in lockstep with party leaders. Celebration of life, love and your identity. The first is Love after Love by Derek Walcott. This poem is about self discovery. Walcott suggests that we spend years assuming an identity, but eventually discover who we really are and this is like two different people meeting and making friends and sharing a meal together. Walcott presents this in terms of the love feast or Eucharist of the Christian church Eat...Give wine. Give bread. Whether this will take a mirror or whether a person will realise who they really are through their own head and deep inside their own souls. It also suggests that you shouldn t care about others opinions with the line in your own mirror.. which makes you wonder How do I see myself? which I thought could be trying to question basic human ideas, why do people look at who they are in the first person, why is the person whose eyes they see through them?! For example, In This Room the author uses extensive use of caesura, using punctuation in the middle of a line, and enjambment, a technique by which you don t use normal punctuation at the end of each sentence, thus creating a flowing and textured piece of poetry. With these techniques, Dharker has created flowing text, I think that this might be a suggestion that life flows quickly and that you should take advantage of it because of this. The thought of dressing and dancing with friends excited me. While the days pass by I scratched off each day and I was thrilled to see how close prom was coming. I began preparing myself by getting all my school work done and eating healthy for the highlight of my senior year. The week of prom was here and it terrified me. I was ready, but I did not know if my dress would come in time or if my makeup artist would be late or even not show up. The first day of the week was Monday, April 10, 2017, and it is the day the store finished making my dress. I arrived at the mall around two in the afternoon to pick up the dress. When the lady saw me, she ran to the back and got the dress. She brought out this ugly brown strip dress. I started screaming and kicking everything in front of the door. I could not believe they got the wrong dress. The lady saw me screaming my lungs out, so she went to get the manager. I told the manager that they gave me the wrong dress. He looked at me and went to the back when he comes out with my dress. He told me there was a little confusion because both dresses were in the same place. With TV shows, movies, clothing lines, toys, CDs, books, and theme parks, Disney is creating billions in revenue. However, the profits are at the cost of the youth. One way the youth are being harmed is children are absorbed in watching television shows that Disney plays daily. The amount of time spent watching television has increased in the years, while the amount of time spent playing games outside has decreased. Because of this, health issues in children have risen, especially in the United States. Also, children begin to idolize the child actors from the shows on Disney such as Miley Cyrus in Hannah Montana . Although some actresses are good role models, most usually are not. Child actors are more likely to develop drug addictions, alcohol addictions, and eating disorders than an average teenager. Not only are the child actors harmed from being put into a crazy lifestyle, the children who idolize these actors are harmed as well. Therefore, Disney s influence on the youth is harmful and should be limited. Obesity and other health issues are become a problem for the youth in America. • 19. The Nature Of An Industry s Competitiveness And Develop... Summary The five forces model was developed by Michael E. Porter to help companies assess the nature of an industry s competitiveness and develop corporate strategies accordingly. Michael Porter s five forces model is based on the insight that a corporate strategy should meet the opportunities and threats in the organizations external environment. Especially, competitive strategy should be based on an understanding of industry structures and the way they change. Porter has identified five competitive forces that shape every industry and every market. These forces determine the intensity of competition and hence the profitability and attractiveness of an industry. The objective of corporate strategy should be to modify these competitive forces in a way that improves the position of the organization. Porters model supports analysis of the driving forces in an industry. Based on the information derived from the Porter s Five Forces Analysis, management can decide how to influence or to exploit particular characteristics of their industry. This paper will analyze Porter s five competitive forces model and will apply the concept to discuss and structure a new office of Travel service sponsored by Expidia.com. • 26. Charles Dickens Doubling Quotes The motif of doubling has been repeatedly shown throughout the book. Charles Dickens finds numerous ways to show the constant pattern of doubling from using children, to using exact metaphors. Life could either be one way or the other. Factors in life an either duplicate themselves or oppose themselves. He uses this repeated motif to emphasize the theme of life being a parallel universe. The prominent quote in Book 1, is the perfect example of how he does it it was the best of times, it was the worst of times. This well known quote continues on by saying it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of light, it was the season of darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair, we had everything before us, we have nothing before us.... Everything Dickens describes opposes the other. Another way dickens shows doubling is by comparing their children to their parents. The first pair he compares is Jimmy Cruncher and his son. Jerry Cruncher, also known as the resurrection man is a grave robber in the book. His son Young Jerry follows him one night and sees what Jerry does. The next day he asks his father and informs that he wants to be like his father when he grows up. This shows doubling in more than one way. Initially, his name is Young Jerry. Secondly, he wants to follow in his father s footsteps. Another child to parent pair is Young Lucie Manette and her mother Lucie. Lucie Manette grew up without a father, he was in prison. When he was released she was all grown up, however she didn t let that affect their father daughter relationship. As Lucie grows up and marries a man named Charles Darnay, they have a girl named Lucie, in other words, Young Lucie. Charles Darnay flees to France and ends up in prison, trying to resolve the issue the Manettes beg for mercy but none is granted. This shows the pattern of doubling because now Young Lucie will experience growing up without a father, just like her mother did. Dickens also shows the compare and contrast side of doubling by comparing Lucie Manette and Madame Defarge. Both characters have completely different life styles. Lucie lives is London and is ... People who eat that most likely don t know what happens to make it. Poachers catch the sharks, and put them on their boats and hold them down while they cut all of their fins off. The worst part is once they re done, they drop them back into the water and make them suffer as they lose tons of blood, and later suffocate or be eaten by other animals. It makes me feel sorry for all of those sharks that went through this, and some people might say that poaching is justified for sharks because they kill people, but what they don t understand is that they are animals, and it is just instinct. The various resistance groups were made up of the poor, marginalized, working class, religious minorities, and ethnic minorities. Moreover, these subaltern groups faced opposition from the powerful elite, which consisted of the government, multinational corporations, wealthy landowners, Catholic religious elite, and white European dominated institutions. However, these subaltern groups used different forms of resistance that changes our perspective of what resistance really means. The subaltern groups used violent, peaceful, covert, and unorganized forms of resistance to achieve their goals. The use of violent resistance by subaltern groups is the most common form of resistance when we think about revolution and change. This form of resistance occurs when elite power structures are attacked by the marginalized in society. In particular, the violent resistance movement led by Maria Lopez in chapter 3 highlights the brutality that is caused by violent revolutions. • 30. The Courtroom Trial That Can Affect The Verdict Verdicts There are numerous factors in a courtroom trial that can significantly affect the verdict reached by jurors and can potentially influence whether the perpetrator of crime is ultimately convicted or is acquitted. In this essay I will explore several of these factors including how the personal characteristics of the defendant (e.g. attractiveness, gender and race) persuasion techniques (e.g. order of testimony) and jury characteristics can determine the conviction of a criminal. Psychological research has shown that the attractiveness can influence jury decisions with studies demonstrating an attractive bias in that attractive defendants tend to receive more lenient sentences for similar crimes carried out by less attractive people. For example, Castellow et al (1990) aimed to test the effect of the attractiveness of a defendant on guilty verdicts. This was done by conducting a lab experiment in which 145 students were given details of a sexual harassment case and then shown images of a defendant victim. These images had been previously categorised as attractive/unattractive by a panel as perceptions of attractiveness are mainly consistent between genders and races (Eisenthal et al. 2006). It was found that the combination of an attractive victim unattractive defendant created the highest percentage of guilty verdicts (83%) when they were asked whether the defendant was guilty of sexual harassment. Goals are the very essence of what makes humans unique, we have the ability to visualize a yet unseen world, we have to ability to hope. Hopes and dreams are what drives us to be better, to achieve more than anyone else, it is hope that encourages us to evolve. This being said, my lifetime goal is very simple, I just wish to be happy. The goal of happiness seems to be very short and sweet, however, it is deceptively elusive in our changing times. Being successful and making money are commonly confused with happiness when in fact, they are merely avenues that may or may not lead you towards your goal, but not a substitute for it; id est, they are a means to an end, not the end itself. The things that I have done, and plan to do are in accordance with what I believe will help me achieve my end goal, happiness. The goal of CPS is to keep children in their homes when it is deemed safe, and to provide them with a safe environment when they are determined to be at risk. CPS workers have a wide range of roles that they must play on a day to day basis. Firstly, they must do a lot of desk work, receiving and evaluating reports of child abuse cases, most of which are made over the phone. They then must use reasoning and investigative skills to determine if the child is at risk. If so, then CPS workers counsel and rehabilitate the child and family. • 37. Romeo s Honesty Well in my honest to god opinion I believe that Romeo did not in fact happen to be in love with Juliet not only do I believe this I can also prove this. Which is what I shall do for you on this essay. I honestly hope you don t get lost or confused and I hope I can make you see how I see this. First, In the beginning of the story Romeo not only happens to be in love with someone else. That person ends up not loving him back and hurting him. Now what this has to do with this is that when you get your heart broken by someone that you gave everything to and end up finding out that they do not feel the same at all you get hurt. There is no way to prevent that unless of course that you are not actually in love with that person. Also when your hearty gets broken you ended up becoming what I like to call love blind. It is where u do not care for only love anymore you want to be in control. You want to make sure that other person loves you no matter what the cost. And this times you want looks, action, and respect. You want to be the center of their attention and what this ends up coming to in the end is that you think you are trying to avoid being hurts again. Next, Romeo went to a party and ... I only believe in what the facts show. Now, I would like you to stop and think would you marry someone or say you are in love with someone before even getting to know that person? I know I would ... • 38. The Status And Perception Of Women Literature Review Draft 2 For centuries, the status and perception of women has been a disputed and controversial subject. Due to precarious political or social standings, even women in power were subject to the judgement and power of men. When considering the portrayal of exceptional women throughout history, rarely has a woman been able to fully embrace the stage without reservations. An analysis of research texts and journal articles reveals and connects the way that a queen of ancient times and one of the English Renaissance controlled their image, were affected by societal views of women, and were ultimately depicted. Scholarship on Cleopatra and Queen Elizabeth I relays the idea that society and patriarchy led to their respective authorities and depictions. Mary Hamer, author of Signs of Cleopatra, a historical research text, investigates Cleopatra s cultural significance from her earliest representations in her own time to her status as a symbol in modern times. In the chapter, Cleopatra: housewife, she discusses Cleopatra s image between the fourteenth and seventeenth centuries, a time that spans the invention of the printing press and the proliferance of Elizabethan playwright, William Shakespeare. Hamer uses the work of Petrarch, Boccaccio, and Jan de Bray, which was spread rapidly due to the printing press, as a lens to view Cleopatra s image. In regards to this image, she notes the changing attitude towards women, a result of the Reformation creating an ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
