South Asia Continuities
In South Asia and Southeast Asia changes occurred due to the Indian Ocean trade network between
500 CE to 1450 CE economically, culturally, and politically. Some similarity the South Asia and the
Southeast Asia contained was a strong economy by specialization as trade became more prominent.
Once the Indian Ocean trade basin became more notable, culturally, religions Buddhism, and Islam, as
well as adapting to some of Indian political tradition became a gradual change. Some difference is
how the Southeastern Asia used their advantage with their dependency on maritime trade. As well as
establishing Hindu temples as a center of economic and social means in addition to developing a more
flexible caste system from India.

Essay on Many Cultures, One Place
The various political and cultural differences that the European Union nations have are the main
qualities of why this system is not efficient. In the article: One Europe, Two Citizens by Pavel Kelly
Tychtl, the author argues that the European Union will have many difficulties to succeed because of
the multiple differences that these nations possess. Published in the year 2003, the article appeals to
the values of people and their feelings towards loosing their identity and nationalism towards their
country. The main ideas of this article are trying to prove that the European Union is not the best
system to unite nations in the world.
In this article the author tries to give us a clear perspective of the problems that the European ... Show

However, the author differs with this concept because he understands form his personal experience
and of what he is seeing that the people will loose their identity. These examples given by the author
make the audience believe in them because they come from his personal experience with the subject.
Most of these examples affect the reader of the article in the way that it is a subject that deals with
their life and affects them in a negative way. This people know that they will loose a big part of their
culture and personality among other things if they become part of the European Union. The European
Union may seem as the best example to unite people in Europe and even maybe in other parts of the
world. However, the truth is that it is very difficult to unite these different types of characteristics and
in fact is more credible to see this countries disagreeing, rather than to see them come into an
agreement.
The examples given in this article come from a person that has an extensive knowledge in the subject
and makes the use of outside sources that are credible for the audience. The author, Pavel Kelly Tychtl
works for the Brussels based European Citizens Action Service (3). This particular characteristic that
he has makes the reader aware that the source is credible and that all the information given by him is

CNTs Toxicity in Real Time Essay
Ever since their discovery in 1991, Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) have gained a lot of interest due to their
many unique physical and chemical properties. They are almost one dimensional structures with high
mechanical strength (100 times stronger than Steel), ultra light weight (1/6th the weight of steel) and
exhibit excellent electrical and thermal conductivity. Most importantly, CNTs have the ability to
effectively cross biological barriers and cellular membrane allowing their use in a wide spectrum of
biomedical applications such as bio imaging, disease targeting and the delivery of therapeutic
molecules, genes or drugs.
Currently, advances in the biomedical applications of CNTs are being hindered by many uncertainties

Our approach relies on using the insulating nature of the cellular plasma membrane to monitor and
analyze the cellular behavior of human lung epithelial cells in real time. Using an electrical cell
impedance sensing (ECIS) device, we can measure and quantify changes in the cellular behavior,
morphology, interactions in real time. These measurements will be further analyzed to derive structure
function relations that correlates the cellular mechanisms with the cytotoxic and apoptotic events
associated with CNTs exposure in real time.
The ECIS device, in principle, is an electrolytic circuit. It measures the changes in resistance value
between an active electrode where the cells are attached and a counter electrode using the growth
media as an electrolyte (figure 1). Once the cells are seeded on the ECIS gold electrodes the current is
forced to flow either below, between or through the cells, thus providing measurement of three
different parameters; barrier function (Rb), cell membrane capacitance (Cm) and the height between
cells and electrodes (h). These parameters are are further analyzed and correlated to many cellular
properties such as shape, morphology, attachment, size, cellular connections (tight and gap junctions),
cell membrane integrity and many others.
By combining the standard cell based cytotoxicity assays with ECIS technique, we were able to study
and analyze the underlying cellular

A Brief Note On Middle School
Deaf Culture Response Paper Testimonial #1 (Jabrina Middle School Hard of Hearing) Summary
Jabrina is a middle school student who is hard of hearing. She attends a private school and lives in the
dorm. Jabrina states that she feels more independent at her private school verses attending a public
school. Her plans for the future include attending college and pursuing a degree in the field of fashion
design. The advice she gives to other hard of hearing students is to have confidence in yourself and
respect other people. The two specific challenges Jabrina mentioned were the drive through at fast
food restaurants and meeting new people. She states the challenge with meeting new people is it is
hard for her to understand them, especially if they do not know sign language. Jabrina addresses the
issue of communicating with new people by using an interpreter, writing or typing out messages, and
texting. Her favorite method is texting due to it is faster to send a message back and forth. Personal
Response Jabrina appears to have a wonderful spirit and attitude towards the challenges of being hard
of hearing. She seems to be coping well with her challenges by using technology, sign language, and
interpreters. In addition, Jabrina keeps a full time schedule at school, along with social activities after
school. In my previous employment, I encountered two students who were both hard of hearing. They
each used lip reading as their main method of communicating along with

Essay about Breast Cancer Diagnosis Methods Analysis
Abstract: Breast cancer research over the last decade has been tremendous and the novel methods
being develop help in the early detection, in setting the stages of the therapy and in assessing the
response of the patient to the treatment. Some of the studies look very promising and their use in
future may decrease the radiation dose to the patient. This paper studies various techniques used for
the diagnosis of breast cancer. Different methods are explored for their merits and de merits for the
diagnosis of breast lesion. It was found that the recent use of the combination of Artificial Neural
Networks in most of the instances give accurate results for the diagnosis of breast cancer and their use
can also be extended to other diseases. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

paper reviews the existing methods some of the methods are yet unproven but the studies look very
encouraging.
II. LITERATURE SURVEY
Mammography is a popular technique but it has its limitations especially in younger women and in
denser breasts. The Computer Aided Diagnosis has been proposed for the medical prognosis [7 9]. The
fuzzy logic and Artificial Neural Network form the basis of the intelligent systems. There are several
instances where the artificial intelligence is used for the diagnosis of the breast cancer. The methods
have included many Artificial Neural Networks architectures such as Convolution Neural Network
[10], Radial Basis Network [11], General Regression Neural Network [11], Probabilistic Neural
Network [11], Resilient Back propagation Neural Network [12], and hybrid with Fuzzy Logic [13]. In
this paper [7] a supervised artificial neural network [14 16] was used to help classify the breast lesions
into malignant and benign classes by processing the computer cytology images. The accuracy of the
trained neural network was found to be 82.21%. The ANN has been established as a robust system for
the diagnosis of breast cancer [18].There is a complex relationship between different biomarkers
which were identified for the diagnosis of this cancer [19], the MLP neural network was simulated for
the diagnosis using four biomarkers

Role Of Women In Beowulf And Lanval
Women have had many different roles in the history of European literature but have generally been
restricted to the roles assigned to them in a largely patriarchal society. As a result of this society, these
roles have often been powerless ones. This calls into question the constitution of a powerful woman in
literature: in Beowulf, being a powerful woman means becoming the bond between families and
alliances; in Lanval, power comes from assertion and control a powerful woman is a woman in charge.
The primary difference between the representation of women in Beowulf and Lanval is that the latter
transcends overarching patriarchal boundaries, and the former does not; the reason for their respective
representations lies in the literary time periods in which the stories were written. From this, one can
see that the introduction of romance as a central theme gave way to new representations and roles of
women in predominantly heteropatriarchal English literature and gives new meaning to the analysis of
stories like these. Beowulf is an Old English epic poem that tells a story of a Geat hero named
Beowulf who comes to the aid of Hrothgar, king of the Danes, and agrees to help his people defeat the
monstrous Grendel. After successfully ridding the land of the beast, Beowulf eventually becomes the
king of the Geats for quite some time until his own demise at the hands of another beast. The story
was influenced by both pagan and Christian mythologies as it was written during a

Essay about Physics Behind Flying Airplanes
The Physics behind Flying Airplanes
There are several aspects involved in the dynamics of airplane and how they become airborne. This
report will address the main physics involved and mathematic formulae that prove how airplanes get
above the ground from a small fighter jet to a massive Boeing 747. The necessities involved in
keeping there massive weights in the air and the extreme forces needed to land these airplanes and
bring them to a halt will also be explored.
Firstly, the formula F = ma, where F is force, m being mass and a meaning acceleration. This formula
is used in the design stage of airplanes but in a different format, a = F/m. This meaning that for the
acceleration to be greater F and m needs to be changed, this would ... Show more content on

This clearly shows that the greater the force and the smaller the mass go towards making the
acceleration greater.
Another formula that s used is, a = v u/t, a meaning acceleration, v being average velocity, u as initial
velocity and where t is equal to time. So lets assume that the initial velocity of the airplane is zero and
its average velocity is at 6.7 x 101 m s 1 and the airplane has been traveling at this velocity for 10
seconds, so a = (6.7 x 101 0)/10 = 6.7 m s 2. This would then require a runway of 6.7 x 102 metres in
length and obviously for the velocity to become greater a longer runway and greater acceleration
would have to be a necessity. This formula would then be used, at = v u, now the acceleration of the
airplane is increased to 1.2 x 101 m s 2 and the time measured is increased to 12 seconds. In a formula
it looks like this, (1.2 x 101 m s 2) x (12 s)= 144 m s 1. We can determine the distance of the runway
by using this formula, d = vt, this means d=144 m s 1 x 12= 1.73 x 103 m. This shows why a larger
runway is a lot more beneficial to an airplane and results in the plane reaching its needed speed. By
making a runway longer this dramatically increases the safety, if a runway was not long enough the
airplanes would not be able to reach the needed speed to leave the ground but

Scientific Use Of Animals During The Space Race
Would you save a human life or a dog? During the space race, scientists used dogs and other animals
instead of humans for experiments. Before humans actually went into space, there was a theory that
humans couldn t survive long periods of weightlessness. There had been several debates among
scientists about the effects of prolonged weightness. American and Russian scientists utilized animals
such as monkeys and dogs in order to test each country s ability to launch a living organism into space
and bring it back alive and unharmed. Scientists used as test subjects before the first astronauts went

A Connecticut Yankee Character Analysis
Mark Twain combines two distinct time periods in his novel, A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur s
Court. Born in the 19th century, character Hank Morgan wakes up one day to find himself in the 6th
century. Morgan quickly takes advantage of his newfound place in a primeval society and establishes
power through the introduction of technology. Some critics believe that Morgan s desire for power
leads to his corruption. Two notable critics, Arthur Shattuck O Keefe and Jane Gardiner, bash Morgan
and see through his lies and make believe, asserting how the Yankee ruined his own vision of bringing
the 19th century to the 6th century. As a whole, Morgan s arrogance and hypocrisy leads to both the
growth and eventual collapse of his ideal, utopian society. Hank Morgan represents a corrupt
individual who represses opposing ideologies that go against his plans for rebuilding society. He
shows determination to get what he wants as he makes change in King Arthur s domain, not letting
any opponent stand in his way. Arthur Shattuck O Keefe takes a close look at Morgan s persistence,
causing him to believe that it drives the Yankee to the point of complete arrogance and desire for
absolute rule. O Keefe addresses Morgan s shift of power in his work, The Morally Imperative Lie in
Twain s Connecticut Yankee, stating that Hank Morgan is a malignant (if not totalitarian) authority
figure (O Keefe). It can be deduced that Morgan uses his power to the highest extent and shows no
sympathy as he passes through the various ranks in King Arthur s court. There is even a point where
Morgan passes the King, as in the book it was mentioned how [He] was no shadow the king... The
king himself was the shadow (Twain 44). It was at this point where The Boss assumes the highest
political power. However, he furthermore looked to make changes with his newfound role. He later
plans possible intrusions with the Church, the most powerful force at the time. He mentions how
people in society see the hand of that awful power, the Roman Catholic Church (Twain 46). It is at this
point where Morgan is just one step away from holding complete dominance. His arrogance blocks
out any outside noise, however, as he was told on numerous occasions to be

The Battle Of War, And The City Of Parsis And Port City
Finding this information troubling since he had hoped to have more time to prepare before the conflict

were to consider going to war, which nations would consider joining them?
Balthazar took another sip of Kabus and paused for a moment to organize his thoughts before
beginning as to how the alignments would go. Parsis is a heavily fortified nation, but rather weak
offensively. Cormyth, the capital city of Parsis and port city located on the Iron Sea, is the largest city

Her only city on the continent, the port city of Coreinum, heavily populated and well fortified against

They most likely will align with Holdrum and Parsis since they are close neighbors. Jenta has a
superior navy and basically would control the seas. The wild cards in this war would be the Elves and
the Dwarves, though I do not see that either party would become involved.
As for you, Lord Nightburn, I see you aligning yourself with Holdrum and Parsis. If Parsis considers
you an ally, it should make it easier for your spy to retrieve the amulet, and with the defeat of Tresval,
you would be able to retrieve the tome you have long sought. That is how I see it. Balthazar grabbed
his glass and took a long sip of Kabus to wet his parched throat after such a long soliloquy.
Well thought out, Balthazar. I have to agree that it would be the most beneficial to both parties.
Nightburn decided to keep the possibility of an agreement with the goblin General Zhousbek to
himself because if successful, it would definitely turn the tide in favor of Holdrum and Parsis and
make retrieval of the tome a certainty. Nightburn then turned to Sir Faine who had come to the table
late in the conversation.

What Role Does Christianity Play In The Chronicles Of Narnia
Many would say that the chronicles of Narnia series, the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe in
particular were perhaps one of the best childhood books to be around, but not many know that the
religious symbolism of Christianity plays a key role in the Chronicles of Narnia.
This essay will focus on the teachings of Christianity and how it plays a significant role in the movie

What Is Dry Foot Bwoy Poem
Analyzing Dry Foot Bwoy by Louise Bennett and Her Influence in the Reemergence of Jamaican
National Identity The poem I will be analyzing is Dry Foot Bwoy by Louise Bennett. First I want to
emphasize the importance of understanding what was happening in Jamaica during the time she wrote
this poem. Bennett emerged as a writer during the process of de colonization and independence for
Jamaica. She played an important role in helping Jamaicans establish a national identity by focusing
on what it means to be Jamaican, especially the issues of language, identity, and race. Bennett was

that is it important to not forget where he comes from because Jamaica is now free, its own

English tradition and language is more superior than their home countries. You can see Bennett do this
also by simply choosing to use more insignificant words that show up in a sentence like basic articles.
She uses Jamaican articles such as dem, and de rather than the English articles the and them. By
exaggerating and animating the differences in these pronunciations, this further illustrates how
Jamaican dialect sounds and draws attention how easily words have been lost through the teaching of

Humans Need to Belong
Belonging is at the core of the human condition. A significant individual can nurture or prevent a
sense of belonging in individuals, groups or communities and is a prevalent concept in the
autobiographies Romulus, My Father by Raimond Gaita and I know why the caged bird sings by
Maya Angelou, a story about growing up African American in 1930s. These texts explore how a
mentoring figure, an individual s insecurities and how confidence and self esteem in a community can
instil or prohibit a sense of belonging.
An individual s insecurities can prevent a sense of belonging in a community is an idea demonstrated
in Romulus, My Father through Christine. Social pressures of gender roles and the barrenness feed an
insecurity that is artificially relieved by longing for company and seducing men to gain a sense of
power and connection. However it further alienates herself My mother had other lovers and he was
tormented by jealousy... my mother and he quarrelled over her infidelities. The use of vivid language
tormented and quarrelled, highlight how her actions, result of her insecurities, strain the relationship
between her and Mitru. This also serves to characterise Christine in the early chapters, as the villain
and due to the autobiographical nature of this text, reflects Raimond s disconnect to his mother.
Therefore Christine and her insecurities prevent a sense of belonging between her, Mitru and
Raimond.

good overall private opinion of himself was not only important, it was imperative. He asks his readers

Thoreau finds this freedom from public opinion in nature. He writes this book in hopes that its readers

Beals realized the big necessity to implement Japanese techniques programs in production for better
quality products.
Giving more responsibility to workers at these facilities gave a high value for Quality before Quantity.
Employee involvement was a key issue in product improvement because the line workers knew much
better than management what was right or wrong with the production, their contribution to decision
making became vital issue.
Quality Circles as mentioned above was the key to success for better involvement of employees with
management better setting of goals related to qualified products.
Also MAN (Materials As Needed) program was expected to improve the quality because lower
inventory levels would make quality problems more apparent and force employees to take faster
action
SOC gave employees the chance to measure quality and make recommendations for changes essential
for quality improvement. It was one of the most important key issues in improving the quality level of
production and take precautions on time against quality problems.
Results of these PRODUCTION CHANGE Programs implemented between 1981 1988 were:
Inventory Reduced by 67 percent
Productivity up by 50 percent
Scrap and Rework down to two thirds (2/3rds)

Comparing Margaret Atwood s The Handmaid Offred And The Talk
Disempowerment leads to a loss of individual identity, the absolute power of leadership forcing
citizens quiet, out of fear. A lowly Handmaid Offred, narrates Margaret Atwood s The Handmaid s
Tale giving us a personal insight into her thoughts and memories, how total control has impacted on
individuals through a unique perspective on the new society: from point of view of the oppressed.
Similarly, Michael D Antuono s The Talk displays the corruption in leadership, subsequently creating
a society where people fear the enforcers of law, where African American parents have to tell their
children they are not safe. Oppression of individual power leads to its irresponsible use when granted,
as individual identity is lost and must be regained.

President Johnson s Social Reform
For hundred of years, women have strived for equality with men. In fact, many argue to this day,
women across the globe are treated as second class citizens. Countless studies have been conducted by
independent universities and groups supporting this ideology. Statistics from these institutions have
often brought women to the Civil Rights forefront, during a time period when women s suffrage was
in its second wave. Advocacy for this cause has come in the form of much more than field studies and
collected research. Lyndon Johnson s social reform was greatly successful in providing equality for
women through new legislation and his support of the National Organization for Women. To
understand President Johnson s social reform, it is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Women have always been portrayed as inferior to men, a myth that can be traced back to Christian
theology during the 4th century. A 13th century theologian, said that woman was created to be man s
helpmeet, but her unique role is in conception . . . since for other purposes men would be better
assisted by other men. (Women 1) Even during the 1960 s, the antiquated idea that a woman was
inferior to a man was widely accepted. It wasn t until approximately 40 years prior to the 1960 s that
woman acquired freedom and mobility thanks to the automobile industry. Legislation was also
evolving as a whole. It was becoming more and more ambitious, and achieved to solve issues in the
country very quickly. Prior to Lyndon Johnson s presidency was that of John F. Kennedy. President
Kennedy proposed the most ambitious plan since the New Deal, entitled the New Frontier . The New
Frontier targeted social injustices in the United States, dealing with racism and sexism. Some
hypothesize that this legislation influenced President Johnson to further pursue social issues that
plagued the United States. Through pursuing these issues, Lyndon Johnson would close the widening
gap between men and women. President Johnson was extremely driven to push for more equal rights.
He was inspired by the creation of the Equal Pay Act of 1963. Prior to this act, men and women who
were performing the same jobs were not earning equal wages. The argument was that men

How did Edward Jenner s discovery and the promotion of the smallpox vaccination enable the
eradication of smallpox and how did it spark rise of preventative medicine globally?

Boston Celtics Case Analysis
The Boston Celtics earned a successful 2018 season despite tragic injuries and a game 7 Eastern
Conference Finals loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers. Boston s current contract situation should provide
more success in the future. Two superstars, veterans, and young talent make them one of the most
concrete organizations in the league, not to mention their foundation is laid for a few more years. The
Celtics player contracts are led by Gordan Hayward, who signed a 4 year max contract in the 2017
offseason. He suffered a tragic left ankle fracture in the season opener debut with the Celtics, forcing
him to miss the 2017 2018 season. This was an unavoidable financial downfall, but with more years
on the contract they still have opportunities with Hayward in the future. Breakout talent Terry Rozier
will be going into free agency in the 2018 2019 off season, potentially leaving the Celtics if they
cannot pay the expected high dollar amount to sign Rozier again. Gritty and forceful Aron Baynes is
also expected to explore free agency in the 2018 off season which could leave the team without the ...

defensive role players such as Marcus Morris and Marcus Smart are each earning a fraction of what
they might earn in the following seasons, each showing potential beyond what they had prior to

Atlanta s history and culture. Built in 1888, the Tech Tower is the college s administration building
and main focal point of the campus. The Victorian styled building has the word Tech erected on all
four sides of the central tower. These letters are visible all across campus and from other nearby
vantage points. Stealing the letter T from the tower has long been a campus prank and tradition. The

Hazard Of Homelessness
It is no secret that we live in a poor country, that people out there are unemployed or don t earn
enough to sustain themselves or their families. We sometimes choose to ignore it but the truth is
unavoidable. At least 62.8% of the Honduran population live in poverty, and 12.35% of is homeless,
which gives a total of at least 1,000,000 citizens been homeless, some of who which decide to build
their own livings. These individual homes are considered to be deficient, since many of them are
simply made out of cardboard or plastic and often house from 4 to 10 people in a single room. This is
a real health and safety hazard since that leaves them susceptible to natural disasters. Some causes are
considered to be unemployment, lack of education,

Lucy Pevensie In The Lion, The Witch And The Wardrobe
Once there were four children whose names were Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy (Lewis 3). In the
book the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis, all Lucy Pevensie wants is freedom. She
wants to get away from the egregious war and bombings. She wants her dad to be back from the
hostile war and her mum to be safe with them. She wants to play games with her three elder siblings to
end the vexatious quarreling amongst them and to excite the strict boredom of the old country house.
In all of her wants, nothing stops her persistent cheerfulness and confident attitude. Lucy Pevensie
discovers the importance of the noble qualities which shape her into a valorous hero through traveling
to the magical land of Narnia.
Since the beginning of the tale, Lucy Pevensie shows her personality through her spunky attitude,
persevering faith and valiant courage. Despite the wretched situation of the war, and the sad separation
from her parents so the children could live safer in the country, Lucy s attitude remains positive the
entire way through. Even when her siblings skeptically doubt her ridiculous adventure in a magical

The Beatitudes Is Not Only A Blessing
The Beatitudes may appear as if they are merely a simple arrangement of blessings, but in reality they
are full of meaning and beyond any ordinary passage in the Bible. Every line in the Beatitudes is not
only a blessing, but a call for action directed towards the people of Israel. The passage seems to focus
on Jesus as he speaks to his disciples and the crowd listening about how they could achieve the
righteousness that will create the foundation of Heaven. He is not simply encouraging people to live
morally and repent so that they will be welcome into the Kingdom of God. He is urging them to learn
how to live happily and spread their generosity to others so that they will feel more connected to God.
Jesus seems to direct most of the Beatitudes towards his disciples, who represent a new and reborn
Israel that harbors no hesitation to put their faith in God, while the crowd that listens intently to Jesus
s words are the potential that Israel has to become virtuous. The Beatitudes are the guidelines that
Israelites must follow so that they may live ethical and pure lives.
The Beatitudes are much more allegorical than literal. They are written instructions that the Israelites
are required to follow if they wish to live wholeheartedly, rather than a way to act in order to be
accepted by God and welcomed into Heaven. For instance, the first line in the Beatitudes, Blessed are
they who mourn, for they shall be comforted (Matthew 5:4) depicts those who are grateful for Jesus

Fairy Tales And Modern Stories Bruno Bettelheim Summary
Bruno Bettelheim and Maria Tatar both composed articles on the effects that fairy tales have on people
s lives. Bruno Bettelheim wrote the article Fairy Tales and Modern Stories. In that article he believes
that fairy tales are considered safe stories and provide mental stability to children when they find
themselves in tough situations. When Maria Tatar wrote her article Introduction to Fairy Tales she also
elaborates on his point, but also explains these fairy tales have different effects on all ages. While both
authors agree that fairy tales have mixed effects on people, they also have many disagreements in
between. Both authors do ultimately believe that fairy tales are important in children s lives, but there
are similarities and differences between these two articles that need to be established. Bettelheim and
Tatar both explain that fairy tales have certain effects on children at a young age, but they way they
explain their effects are quite different from each other. Bettelheim uses his psychological studies to
draw a deeper understanding on the effects of these stories. He shows us that the unconscious mind ...

The Battle Of The Sexes
The term hookup is deliberately vague and has come to replace dating on college campuses
(Armstrong Hamilton, 2009, p. 589). The notion of battle of the sexes is one in which women want
hookups to evolve into some aspect of a relationship, while men prefer to hook up with no strings
attached (Armstrong Hamilton, 2009, p. 591). Hamilton and Armstrong s ethnographic study of
female students examine the sexual experiences of men and women. Their research indicates that the
battle of the sexes explanation is insufficient and contributes to gender inequality by naturalizing
problematic notions of gender difference (Armstrong Hamilton, 2009, p. 609). In this paper, I will
explain why their evidence of the battle of the sexes was inadequate and why I believe their data is
sufficient with their overall findings. It is because women want independence and autonomy, they
want to be self supporting, and want to have opportunities to meet new people that women reframe
from engaging in relationships. However, men s perspective on relationships is overlooked in their
data and based on my understandings of young adults, my experiences provide evidence of a battle of
the sexes amongst students.
Contrary to the notion of the battle of the sexes explanation, Armstrong and Hamilton suggest that
most privileged women want to be independent and gain autonomy before settling down in a
relationship (Armstrong Hamilton, 2009, p. 602). The battle of the sexes approach suggests

The Structure Of Eukaryotic Chromosomes
Humans are all totally unique in one way. That one way is DNA. Human DNA is very complex and it
takes on a certain structure in order for it to function correctly. Understanding the structure of
eukaryotic chromosomes, or condensed forms of DNA, and how they function helps scientists
understand how human DNA is unique. These highly specialized cells help eukaryotic organisms,
such as humans, to sustain life.
What is a eukaryotic organism? A eukaryotic organism is any organism with complex cells, or a single
cell with a complex structure. These eukaryotic organisms cells genetic material is organized into
chromosomes found in a nucleus. These eukaryotic cells also have membrane bound organelles, which
distinguishes them from other types of organisms.
Structure of Eukaryotic Chromosomes Multi celled organisms like human beings require a large
amount of DNA. There are two meters of DNA in every human cell but the cell s nucleus diameter is
only 5 8 micrometers. So how does all that DNA fit into our cell s nucleus? Well the very long double
stranded DNA molecules are tightly packed into chromosomes, which are highly compacted.
Chromosome 22, for example, has 48 million nucleotide pairs which, if stretched out end to end the
DNA would extended 1.5 cm. Chromosome 22 during the stage of mitosis it measures at an
astonishing 2 micrometers. This is ten thousand times tighter then if the DNA was stretched out all the
way. DNA has the assistance of the chromosomal proteins, histones

Unlike Jane and Bertha however, Sula is able to be a whole person and represent both the good and
bad qualities of an independent woman. She too is a representation of an independent and impassioned
female, rebelling against the social constraints posed upon women, and pushes the threshold of its
definitions of womanhood. This is seen throughout the novel as she explores her own thoughts and
emotions, giving them full reign over her actions and behavior. Her defiant refusal to be bullied, the
exploration of her strength through sexuality, her refusal to settle into the domestic feminine model,
and her decision to leave the Bottom and go to college, make Sula a remarkably strong and
intimidating woman for her time. Like Bertha, Sula s displays of the overt rejection of societal ideals
mark her as something supernatural and evil. Compared to a sorceress and witch, Sula is linked with
many gothic supernatural symbols throughout the novel, such as her strange dream that turns into
reality when her mother burns alive, and the plague of robins that follow her return to the Bottom
(Morrison, 89). From this, the townspeople find any incident in which to blame on Sula, accusing her
of pushing Teapot down the stairs, and causing Mr. Finely to choke on a chicken bone none of which
she is involved in. Sula s birthmark goes from the interpretation of a rose, to the symbol of a snake,

An Analysis Of Auden s Ulysses By Alfred Lord Tennyson
For thousands of years humanity has grappled with understanding the mystery of our existence;
questions what our purpose in life is. Some become consumed with the idea of not wasting a second of
the time they ve been given, while others tend towards a more reserved, neutral lifestyle. Alfred Lord
Tennyson s poem, Ulysses, directly attacks the idleness of a mundane lifestyle while promoting the
idea of not letting life waste away through exploration of the life of Ulysses, the mythical greek hero.
Comparatively, W.H. Auden s, The Unknown Citizen, emphasizes the pointlessness and monotony of
day to day living through satirisation of the life of an archetypal, modern individual. Upon analysis it

The History of Film Noir Essay
The History of Film Noir
Film Noir literally means Black Film . This term was first coined by French film critic Nino Frank,
who noticed a trend in the darkness of themes in many American films that constituted wartime
cinema.
Classic film noir developed during the 1940 s during and after World War two, taking advantage of the
post war zeitgeist of anxiety, pessimism and suspicion. Mistrust, fear, paranoia, and bleakness is
obvious in noir, it reflects the cold war period when the threat of nuclear annihilation was ever
present.
The categorisation of noir is very difficult to propose, The term Film Noir was not recognised in the

Using an electrical cell impedance sensing (ECIS) device, we can measure and quantify changes in the cellular behavior, morphology, interactions in real time. These measurements will be further analyzed to derive structure function relations that correlates the cellular mechanisms with the cytotoxic and apoptotic events associated with CNTs exposure in real time. The ECIS device, in principle, is an electrolytic circuit. It measures the changes in resistance value between an active electrode where the cells are attached and a counter electrode using the growth media as an electrolyte (figure 1). Once the cells are seeded on the ECIS gold electrodes the current is forced to flow either below, between or through the cells, thus providing measurement of three different parameters; barrier function (Rb), cell membrane capacitance (Cm) and the height between cells and electrodes (h). These parameters are are further analyzed and correlated to many cellular properties such as shape, morphology, attachment, size, cellular connections (tight and gap junctions), cell membrane integrity and many others. By combining the standard cell based cytotoxicity assays with ECIS technique, we were able to study and analyze the underlying cellular ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This paper reviews the existing methods some of the methods are yet unproven but the studies look very encouraging. II. LITERATURE SURVEY Mammography is a popular technique but it has its limitations especially in younger women and in denser breasts. The Computer Aided Diagnosis has been proposed for the medical prognosis [7 9]. The fuzzy logic and Artificial Neural Network form the basis of the intelligent systems. There are several instances where the artificial intelligence is used for the diagnosis of the breast cancer. The methods have included many Artificial Neural Networks architectures such as Convolution Neural Network [10], Radial Basis Network [11], General Regression Neural Network [11], Probabilistic Neural Network [11], Resilient Back propagation Neural Network [12], and hybrid with Fuzzy Logic [13]. In this paper [7] a supervised artificial neural network [14 16] was used to help classify the breast lesions into malignant and benign classes by processing the computer cytology images. The accuracy of the trained neural network was found to be 82.21%. The ANN has been established as a robust system for the diagnosis of breast cancer [18].There is a complex relationship between different biomarkers which were identified for the diagnosis of this cancer [19], the MLP neural network was simulated for the diagnosis using four biomarkers ... • 8. Role Of Women In Beowulf And Lanval Women have had many different roles in the history of European literature but have generally been restricted to the roles assigned to them in a largely patriarchal society. As a result of this society, these roles have often been powerless ones. This calls into question the constitution of a powerful woman in literature: in Beowulf, being a powerful woman means becoming the bond between families and alliances; in Lanval, power comes from assertion and control a powerful woman is a woman in charge. The primary difference between the representation of women in Beowulf and Lanval is that the latter transcends overarching patriarchal boundaries, and the former does not; the reason for their respective representations lies in the literary time periods in which the stories were written. From this, one can see that the introduction of romance as a central theme gave way to new representations and roles of women in predominantly heteropatriarchal English literature and gives new meaning to the analysis of stories like these. Beowulf is an Old English epic poem that tells a story of a Geat hero named Beowulf who comes to the aid of Hrothgar, king of the Danes, and agrees to help his people defeat the monstrous Grendel. After successfully ridding the land of the beast, Beowulf eventually becomes the king of the Geats for quite some time until his own demise at the hands of another beast. • 9. Essay about Physics Behind Flying Airplanes The Physics behind Flying Airplanes There are several aspects involved in the dynamics of airplane and how they become airborne. This report will address the main physics involved and mathematic formulae that prove how airplanes get above the ground from a small fighter jet to a massive Boeing 747. The necessities involved in keeping there massive weights in the air and the extreme forces needed to land these airplanes and bring them to a halt will also be explored. Firstly, the formula F = ma, where F is force, m being mass and a meaning acceleration. This formula is used in the design stage of airplanes but in a different format, a = F/m. This meaning that for the acceleration to be greater F and m needs to be changed, this would ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This clearly shows that the greater the force and the smaller the mass go towards making the acceleration greater. Another formula that s used is, a = v u/t, a meaning acceleration, v being average velocity, u as initial velocity and where t is equal to time. So lets assume that the initial velocity of the airplane is zero and its average velocity is at 6.7 x 101 m s 1 and the airplane has been traveling at this velocity for 10 seconds, so a = (6.7 x 101 0)/10 = 6.7 m s 2. This would then require a runway of 6.7 x 102 metres in length and obviously for the velocity to become greater a longer runway and greater acceleration would have to be a necessity. This formula would then be used, at = v u, now the acceleration of the airplane is increased to 1.2 x 101 m s 2 and the time measured is increased to 12 seconds. In a formula it looks like this, (1.2 x 101 m s 2) x (12 s)= 144 m s 1. We can determine the distance of the runway by using this formula, d = vt, this means d=144 m s 1 x 12= 1.73 x 103 m. This shows why a larger runway is a lot more beneficial to an airplane and results in the plane reaching its needed speed. By making a runway longer this dramatically increases the safety, if a runway was not long enough the airplanes would not be able to reach the needed speed to leave the ground but ... • 11. A Connecticut Yankee Character Analysis Mark Twain combines two distinct time periods in his novel, A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur s Court. Born in the 19th century, character Hank Morgan wakes up one day to find himself in the 6th century. Morgan quickly takes advantage of his newfound place in a primeval society and establishes power through the introduction of technology. Some critics believe that Morgan s desire for power leads to his corruption. Two notable critics, Arthur Shattuck O Keefe and Jane Gardiner, bash Morgan and see through his lies and make believe, asserting how the Yankee ruined his own vision of bringing the 19th century to the 6th century. As a whole, Morgan s arrogance and hypocrisy leads to both the growth and eventual collapse of his ideal, utopian society. Hank Morgan represents a corrupt individual who represses opposing ideologies that go against his plans for rebuilding society. He shows determination to get what he wants as he makes change in King Arthur s domain, not letting any opponent stand in his way. Arthur Shattuck O Keefe takes a close look at Morgan s persistence, causing him to believe that it drives the Yankee to the point of complete arrogance and desire for absolute rule. O Keefe addresses Morgan s shift of power in his work, The Morally Imperative Lie in Twain s Connecticut Yankee, stating that Hank Morgan is a malignant (if not totalitarian) authority figure (O Keefe). It can be deduced that Morgan uses his power to the highest extent and shows no sympathy as he passes through the various ranks in King Arthur s court. There is even a point where Morgan passes the King, as in the book it was mentioned how [He] was no shadow the king... The king himself was the shadow (Twain 44). It was at this point where The Boss assumes the highest political power. However, he furthermore looked to make changes with his newfound role. He later plans possible intrusions with the Church, the most powerful force at the time. He mentions how people in society see the hand of that awful power, the Roman Catholic Church (Twain 46). It is at this point where Morgan is just one step away from holding complete dominance. His arrogance blocks out any outside noise, however, as he was told on numerous occasions to be ... These good deeds are relatively low risk. And on the other end, you have high stakes heroism, like rescuing someone from a burning building. Both are important. Lucy Pevensie had both of these heroic exploits. Living her normal life with her family, she dealt with each of her siblings through the perspective of a true hero, by calming quarreling and asserting cheerfulness as well as peace. • 30. The Beatitudes Is Not Only A Blessing The Beatitudes may appear as if they are merely a simple arrangement of blessings, but in reality they are full of meaning and beyond any ordinary passage in the Bible. Every line in the Beatitudes is not only a blessing, but a call for action directed towards the people of Israel. The passage seems to focus on Jesus as he speaks to his disciples and the crowd listening about how they could achieve the righteousness that will create the foundation of Heaven. He is not simply encouraging people to live morally and repent so that they will be welcome into the Kingdom of God. He is urging them to learn how to live happily and spread their generosity to others so that they will feel more connected to God. Jesus seems to direct most of the Beatitudes towards his disciples, who represent a new and reborn Israel that harbors no hesitation to put their faith in God, while the crowd that listens intently to Jesus s words are the potential that Israel has to become virtuous. The Beatitudes are the guidelines that Israelites must follow so that they may live ethical and pure lives. The Beatitudes are much more allegorical than literal. They are written instructions that the Israelites are required to follow if they wish to live wholeheartedly, rather than a way to act in order to be accepted by God and welcomed into Heaven. For instance, the first line in the Beatitudes, Blessed are they who mourn, for they shall be comforted (Matthew 5:4) depicts those who are grateful for Jesus ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Bruno Bettelheim wrote the article Fairy Tales and Modern Stories. In that article he believes that fairy tales are considered safe stories and provide mental stability to children when they find themselves in tough situations. When Maria Tatar wrote her article Introduction to Fairy Tales she also elaborates on his point, but also explains these fairy tales have different effects on all ages. While both authors agree that fairy tales have mixed effects on people, they also have many disagreements in between. Both authors do ultimately believe that fairy tales are important in children s lives, but there are similarities and differences between these two articles that need to be established. Bettelheim and Tatar both explain that fairy tales have certain effects on children at a young age, but they way they explain their effects are quite different from each other. • 33. The Battle Of The Sexes The term hookup is deliberately vague and has come to replace dating on college campuses (Armstrong Hamilton, 2009, p. 589). The notion of battle of the sexes is one in which women want hookups to evolve into some aspect of a relationship, while men prefer to hook up with no strings attached (Armstrong Hamilton, 2009, p. 591). Hamilton and Armstrong s ethnographic study of female students examine the sexual experiences of men and women. Their research indicates that the battle of the sexes explanation is insufficient and contributes to gender inequality by naturalizing problematic notions of gender difference (Armstrong Hamilton, 2009, p. 609). In this paper, I will explain why their evidence of the battle of the sexes was inadequate and why I believe their data is sufficient with their overall findings. It is because women want independence and autonomy, they want to be self supporting, and want to have opportunities to meet new people that women reframe from engaging in relationships. However, men s perspective on relationships is overlooked in their data and based on my understandings of young adults, my experiences provide evidence of a battle of the sexes amongst students. Contrary to the notion of the battle of the sexes explanation, Armstrong and Hamilton suggest that most privileged women want to be independent and gain autonomy before settling down in a relationship (Armstrong Hamilton, 2009, p. 602). The battle of the sexes approach suggests ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Human DNA is very complex and it takes on a certain structure in order for it to function correctly. Understanding the structure of eukaryotic chromosomes, or condensed forms of DNA, and how they function helps scientists understand how human DNA is unique. These highly specialized cells help eukaryotic organisms, such as humans, to sustain life. What is a eukaryotic organism? A eukaryotic organism is any organism with complex cells, or a single cell with a complex structure. These eukaryotic organisms cells genetic material is organized into chromosomes found in a nucleus. These eukaryotic cells also have membrane bound organelles, which distinguishes them from other types of organisms. Structure of Eukaryotic Chromosomes Multi celled organisms like human beings require a large amount of DNA. There are two meters of DNA in every human cell but the cell s nucleus diameter is only 5 8 micrometers. So how does all that DNA fit into our cell s nucleus? Well the very long double stranded DNA molecules are tightly packed into chromosomes, which are highly compacted. Chromosome 22, for example, has 48 million nucleotide pairs which, if stretched out end to end the DNA would extended 1.5 cm. Chromosome 22 during the stage of mitosis it measures at an astonishing 2 micrometers. This is ten thousand times tighter then if the DNA was stretched out all the way. DNA has the assistance of the chromosomal proteins, histones ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Sexuality In Bertha Mason s Sula Peace her violation of accepted social norms, and suffers accusations of witchcraft from neighbors and family who need scapegoats for the wrong happenings in their lives. Bertha Mason is similarly condemned for her representation of the rejection of the female ideal the rejection of the wifely, mother role and the discord over her own sexuality. Just like Sula, her fierce nature is exposed through her identification with the wild, unruliness, and ultimately with sex. This Gothic theme of the dark woman exposes the female discontent and need to rebel against patriarchal society. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Unlike Jane and Bertha however, Sula is able to be a whole person and represent both the good and bad qualities of an independent woman. She too is a representation of an independent and impassioned female, rebelling against the social constraints posed upon women, and pushes the threshold of its definitions of womanhood. This is seen throughout the novel as she explores her own thoughts and emotions, giving them full reign over her actions and behavior. Her defiant refusal to be bullied, the exploration of her strength through sexuality, her refusal to settle into the domestic feminine model, and her decision to leave the Bottom and go to college, make Sula a remarkably strong and intimidating woman for her time. Like Bertha, Sula s displays of the overt rejection of societal ideals mark her as something supernatural and evil. Compared to a sorceress and witch, Sula is linked with many gothic supernatural symbols throughout the novel, such as her strange dream that turns into reality when her mother burns alive, and the plague of robins that follow her return to the Bottom (Morrison, 89). From this, the townspeople find any incident in which to blame on Sula, accusing her of pushing Teapot down the stairs, and causing Mr. Finely to choke on a chicken bone none of which she is involved in. Some become consumed with the idea of not wasting a second of the time they ve been given, while others tend towards a more reserved, neutral lifestyle. Alfred Lord Tennyson s poem, Ulysses, directly attacks the idleness of a mundane lifestyle while promoting the idea of not letting life waste away through exploration of the life of Ulysses, the mythical greek hero.
