The Effects Of Vitamin D And Its Effects On Children
traviolet (UV) rays from sunlight to activate it.
Breastmilk contains a small amount of vitamin D but that is not adequate for proper infant
development; therefore, exclusively breastfed infants should receive a supplement of vitamin D
shortly after birth.17 The current American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) recommendations for
vitamin D intake is 400 IU per day for all infants, children, and adolescents, beginning the first few
days after birth.18
Deficiency of vitamin D is known as rickets and can have severe and lasting effects on children as
they grow. Inadequate intake of vitamin D also decreases intestinal absorption of calcium and
phosphorus, causing improper mineralization of bones and teeth and resulting in swelled joints,
bowed legs, and poor growth during childhood. (See Figure 6.9.)
Iron
A full term infant is born with iron stores that reflect the mother s iron levels. If the mother
consumes an iron rich diet during pregnancy, the fetus builds iron stores to last the first 4 6
months of life. By 6 months, a breastfed infant needs an additional iron source, at which time,
iron fortified infant cereals can meet this need. The AAP recommends iron fortified formula for
all formula fed babies. Preterm infants have lower iron stores at birth that are depleted around 2 3
months of age.19 Human milk is a source of iron, and compared with infant formula, a higher
percentage of the iron in breastmilk is absorbed: 50% of the iron in breastmilk is absorbed, whereas

The History Of Newark
Some of the top historical movements that the United States ever encountered were the following:
civil rights, women s suffrage, gay rights, anti war, labor movement, black power, and occupy wall
street. But there hasn t been a major movement or protest that has really shaped and changed the
minds of our citizens of this country, to understand that our environment is in a crisis. People are
still having the same concept that climate change and global warming isn t real when in reality it is.
Meanwhile, in urban cities throughout America, there are treated like a city that isn t worthy to be
cleaned, unpolluted, or even take into consideration of the people who are currently inhabit these
cities and unfortunately Newark falls under that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The organization that represent the face of Newark s environment is called, Ironbound
Community Corporation (ICC) but the team that specialize with this particular social issue is
the Environmental Justice . Ironbound is in the East Ward of Newark but is considered the
most contaminated section in comparison to the rest of Newark. Emily Turonis was the young
lady who I had the privilege to interview and really find out about Newark and what has the
Environmental Justice team have done to improve the living circumstances of Ironbound. The
Ironbound has been a home to many industrial and residential communities where factories
operate right next to homes, schools, and playgrounds. The East Ward is surrounded by the
airport, the highways, the railroads, and the Passaic River. Having all these deserted lots,
forgotten factories, neglected junk, all this takes a toll on the air, water, and land of Newark. In
the early, 1980 s workers digging and made a nearby pool at the corner of St. Charles St. and
Rome St. to discovered toxic levels of PCBs and other chemicals left behind by the former
plastics plant. The federal government eventually declared this pool closed down in 1987. Same
thing happened in the mid 2000 s, when the Ironbound opened an outdoors pool on the corner of
Ferry St. and Waydell St. and a couple of years later they had to closed it down due to the high
levels of dioxin. They immediately shut it down because it was hazards and unsafe for the children

Introduction
Chemical equilibrium is the study of change within a chemical reaction and how far it will go to
reach a dynamic equilibrium (Burdge). Dynamic equilibrium is defined as the constant movement
of species in a chemical reaction, gone to incompletion while the rates of production and
consumption are equal (Kf = Kr ) (Burdge). It differs from static equilibrium in that species are
constantly being consumed and produced, it is dynamic movement (Fox). The concentration of such
species do not change, it remains constant (Fox). The rate at which species are being

Social Anxiety Disorder ( Sad )
Social Anxiety Disorder Affecting One s Life Social anxiety disorder (SAD), also known as
social phobia, is the most common mental illness in the United States. About 40 million people
suffer from this mental disorder. Many tend to confuse this disorder with shyness and
nervousness, which are not considered a part of the phobia. Having a SAD can interfere with
one s daily life cycle. People who have SAD often starts to develop this illness during their
childhood and adolescence years. Patients are affected with this mental illness for many years
before being diagnosed. Past experiences in a person s childhood can form and shape their lives so
that they may end up having social anxietydisorder. Some past experiences like bullying, depression
and low self esteem can lead to the fearof socially interacting or communicating with other
people. There are many cases of bullying that cause people to grow this disorder. Bullying is one
of the main causes of Social Anxiety Disorder. The different types of bullying all have a different
effect in the disorder, such as verbal, cyber, and physical bullying all have different causes. Verbal
bullying can cause people to start to think wrongly of themselves. They also start to believe that the
things that the people are saying could possibly be true. This intertwines with the cyber portion of
the bullying. Cyber bullying also causes people to think that the things people are electronically
saying are true. Also, just as verbal bullying,

Methods Of Recruitment Of Comfort Women
Methods of Recruitment There were various ways in which the Japanese Military recruited woman
for comfort stations. It is important to first understand that in no document of the very few found
on the recruitment of women to comfort stations was there any mention of women consenting to
either recruitment or what they were required to do once in the stations. This is important when
reflecting on the social situations in which victims encountered post war. The recruitment of
comfort womenis used by many anti apologists , people who think Japanese responsibility for
comfort stations should be extinguished, believe that accepting the offer by recruiters to leave the
village constitutes consent. One of the ways that women were recruited... Show more content on

During the Second World War there were atrocities so profound, that current vocabulary was not
adequate to described them. With this the world was introduced to the terms genocide and
holocaust , but what language should be used when referencing the women affected by comfort
station? It is not like wartime brothels were an anomaly of this war, so does the label prostitute
suffice? Though a small amount of women in comfort stations were professional prostitutes, the
majority of women who were recruited into these comfort stations did not have knowledge of what
waited for them. Even in recent years, neo nationalist attempt to claim that comfort women were

of the women involved in these sex crimes as prostitutes merely attempts to preclude humanitarian
recognition of the violence committed. Prostitution generally involves three elements: (1) some
degree of sexual activity or conduct, (2) compensation, and (3) intent to commit prostitution. These

Book Of Exodus Comparison Essay
The Book of Exodus, known in Hebrew as Sefer Shemot ( Book of Names ), is the second book of
the Torah (Pentateuch) and the Old Testament of the Christian Bible. Exodus recounts the events of
the Egyptian enslavement of the Israelites, their subsequent liberation by their god, Yahweh, and
the Deliverer, Moses, and their journey to the Promised Land. To facilitate the comprehension of
Exodus or to make hundreds of millions of dollars film studios have produced many film
adaptations of Exodus two in the case of Cecil B. DeMille. Two such films are The Ten
Commandments and The Prince of Egypt. The former, a live action motion picture released in
1956, is DeMille s second iteration of Exodus, while the latter, released in 1998, is a
DreamWorks made animated version of the story. Overall, both films portray Exodus well, though
they add staple Hollywood plot devices in an effort to modernize the four thousand odd year old
story and end up negatively affecting the original story in the process.

him; when Bithiah begs for a lesser punishment, the Pharaoh commutes his punishment to

Genuine Intrigue In Developmental Biology
Curiosity has recently been revealed to me as my greatest boon. My younger self asked so many
questions, I would sometimes be accosted by others for it. My questioning never stopped, but my
circumstances changed once I entered college. Thereupon I was surrounded by individuals who
loved answering questions. Fortunately, these circumstances have not changed with my transition
to University of Michigan. Academically speaking, my adventurous and skeptical nature allows me
to identify and understand exactly what I intellectually need, and easily contrast that with my wants
and capabilities.
Genuine intrigue in developmental biology is what makes UROP s Biomedical Research Fellowship
perfect for me. Many laboratories are searching for summer interns.

My finance and I attended a Friday night Shabbat service. Shabbat is the Jewish Sabbath day;
their day of rest. It begins on Friday and concludes Saturday evening. Shabbat allows time for
members to focus on what it is important and that is: worshiping, reflecting on the week, and
growing together. Depending on the day (Friday or Saturday) and week (1st, 2nd, 3rd, or 4th),
the service may vary including the content of worship, it s timing and style. The Shabbat service
we attend took place on the second Friday of the month; it involved music, prayer and a sermon.
As we entered Shir Takvih, we felt very welcomed; everyone was polite and answered any
questions we had. After we received a copy of their translated prayer book (machzorim) we were
directed to the designated place, where we were told that we could sit anywhere we like. The
white painted room which was surrounded by big round windows had several roles of wooden
fold up chairs. Not wanting to be a disturbance we sat in the back row. At the front of the room
there was a bimah with an assortment of musical instruments on one side and a podium

After WW2 Japan was in an economic crisis which continued until 1949 when the company
obtained a loan from several banks. In June 1950 the company only produced 300 trucks and
management announced layoffs and wage reductions and in response, the union went on strike
which last for two months. While the strike did eventually end and layoffs and wage reductions
did occur the union stipulated that the president Kiichiro Toyoda must resign. Kiichiro Toyoda
resigned from his company and the company then came under the leadership of Taizo Ishida
CEO of Toyoda Automatic Loom. In 1950 a separate sales company Toyota Motor Sales Co was
established (lasted until 1982). In 1956 the Toyota dealership chain was established. In 1957 the
Crown motor vehicle became the first Japanese car to be exported to America thus establishing
Toyota s American division. In 1960s Toyota began to expand with a new research and
development facility in Thailand. The first Toyota motor vehicle built outside Japan was in April
1963 in Melbourne. From 1963 1965 Australia was Toyota s biggest export market. (http:/

Aboriginal Voting Rights
This report will cover the history of the Aboriginal Voting rights in Australia. The Aboriginals did
not gain the right to federal voting at least 150 years after the British colonized in Australia. All
citizens of a nation deserve equal rights.
Several key events and people influenced the journey and results of Aboriginal voting rights. Many
major contributions towards the indigenous voting rights can be described as international
criticism, Aboriginal Protests and Political conflicts. Male Aboriginal Australians were recognised
as male people, and therefore could vote in state elections, It was expected to stay this way.
However, the white Australiapolicy in 1901 caused many Aboriginal Men to lose their state voting
rights and banned them from enrolling in federal elections, According to (hgj) The electoral
officials had the power to decide who was an Aboriginal Native or not. After several years of
discrimination, in 1934 Indigenous Australians took a stand in a day of mourning for indigenous
rights. Another powerful argument for Aboriginal Australians was their world war efforts from
1914 to 1918. Many white Australians that fought with the Indigenous Australians believed that if
they are good enough to fight and die for their country then they are good enough to vote in
elections As a result of this effort, 1945 marked the year that all male Aboriginal war participants
were granted Federal election voting rights. It is important to remember when and how the

Moliere s Tartuffe By William Moliere
The Enlightenment ushered in the idea that reason should be exercised in thinking instead of
passion. Moliere s Tartuffe was written to challenge the dominant political and religious views of its
time. The Catholic church viewed Moliere s Tartuffe as a threat to their faith and banned the play
from being performed in public. Moliere became one of the great Enlightenment thinkers because of
his willingness to speak out against the large corrupt institutions that many people did not have the
courage to question.
Marcel Gutwirth states, Who is Tartuffe? Who is the wretch come barefoot into the home of a man
of some wealth and note who, in the teeth of almost universal detestation, establishes a grip upon
that household so tenacious that the intervention of the sovereign is needed to shake him loose
and send him packing? The play, as had been remarked, refuses to make up its mind. The
rubicund glutton of the second act or the sinister jail bird of the fifth, the religious hypocrite or the
professional confidence man, the professed nobleman the provinces or the penniless impostor
make for a range that takes in some mutually exclusive possibilities. Two things stand out: he does
lay claim to a very special relation to heaven; and, though far less overtly, sex exercises an equally
strong claim on his person. A third fact, which we shall take up first, is his successful occupation of
that well nigh impregnable fastness, the interior of an affluent French household the

Notorious Crimes In The 1920 s
1920s Notorious Crimes and Society
In the 1920s, notorious crimes and trials greatly impacted American culture and daily life. Some
of the major crimes are ones created by Al Capone. Al Capone was a big part of crime in the
1920s because he could control the whole city of Chicago during prohibition. He was behind the
St. Valentine s Massacre and earned nearly 60 million dollars selling illegal alcohol (History).
Leopold and Loeb was disturbing in that the young boys would kidnap and kill for a ransom. All
of these crimes committed in the 1920s have greatly affected culture and daily life. Al Capone

intelligent students (Linder). The crime happened in Chicago in 1924. Lots of people called it
as the first trial of the century (Linder). When a trial is called something like that, it probably
affected the culture and daily life of many americans. The crime captured national attention
(Linder). 18 year old Loeb was obsessed with crimes, he planned them, and committed them
(Linder). None of the crimes he did were as serious as the one that struck the nation (Linder). He
was the youngest graduate ever at the University of Michigan (Linder). His 19 year old partner
Leopold was also an intelligent person. He was a law student at the University of Chicago, and
was planning on going to Harvard Law school (Linder). With the expectation of these young
kids, people would wonder why they would do such a thing. They planned out their crime for
months and it wasn t their goal to murder someone (Linder). Their original plan was to kidnap
the child of a wealthy family and ransom to get some money, but the 14 year old victim, Bobby
Franks, was an acquaintance of the two boys (Linder). He was in the wrong place at the wrong
time. Clarence Darrow, their lawyer described their relationship as weird and almost impossible,
which could have been a reason for the murder (Linder). It is thought that Leopold was attracted

Impact Of Thomas Jefferson And Geroge Washington On The...
Thomas Jefferson and Geroge Washington played a large role in the stability of the government.
George Washington was well respected among the public, which is why he was elected as the first
president of America after the U.S. had officially become independent from Britain. Moreover,
Thomas Jefferson was also a well respected leader and believed in economic equality for everyone.
Overall they both helped shape America for the better in the ways they led the country throughout
their presidency.
Washington was a man of character and rarely used force to settle issues. During the Whiskey
Rebellion, which was caused by the tax placed on whiskey, George Washington personally led his
troops to go stop the rebellion. This was the first realization of the need for a stronger central
government. Although many Americans did not like the strong central government style of leading
because it reminded them of their past rulership, it was needed for America to become stable.
Washington s response to the uproar helped build relations between people and the tax collectors,
which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Just after Washington was elected, he made Britain sign Jay s Treaty which led to peaceful
commerce. The treaty also forced the British out of northwestern posts. Thomas Jefferson believed
in an agricultural lifestyle because he believed there would be no room for corruption. In hopes of
not getting involved with foreign affairs, Jefferson passed the Embargo Act which banned trading
with foreign countries. Although this was disliked, it helped create America s manufacturing. This
also helped to stabilize the economy of America. Although Thomas Jefferson opposed the bank, he
opposed it because he thought it gave too much power to the national government. He also believed
that the constitution did not have the power to do this. This helped stabilize the government
because it allows states to form their own banks and charter

Essay about E.E. Cummings
Edward Estlin Cummings is a famous poet and novelist. A true man of the arts, he also enjoyed
playwrights, painting, and drawing. His lifetime lasting from 1894 1962 was vivaciously lived! He
spent a large portion of his life in his birth state, Massachusetts, although certain life events lead him
beyond the United States. Cummings served in the U.S. Army during World War I, and was a
volunteer in an ambulance unit as well. A great portion of his life was also dedicated to his Harvard
education and multiple romantic relationships. Despite these things that took up most of his time,
Cummings managed to find time for his passion, writing. E.E. Cummings unique style of writing is

Once his name received a wonderful reputation he was easily able to expand beyond novels to
his true desire, poetry, and become more successful as a poet. Cummings impressive education
consists of a Bachelor s and Master s degree from Harvard, in which he graduated near the top of
his class. He submitted many of his poems to the newspaper at Harvard, which sparked his
interest towards a career as a poet. When his first poem was published, the publisher left all the
letters of E.E. Cummings name lowercase. Cummings soon adopted this as his own personal
trademark. The style of Cummings writing was what made his poems so distinctive. No matter
what the topic, he always incorporated a lyrical flow to the poem. Cummings experimented with
typography, slang, dialect, jazz rhymes, and jagged lines (Anderson et al). By exploring the
possibilities of poetry, Cummings was able to create poems that have a beat that corresponds with
the tone, mood, and theme of the poem. Aside from Cummings busy life activities he was able to
fit in an extremely demanding love life. He moved from France back to America to pursue an
affair with Elaine Thayer. Elaine was the wife of Cummings good friend and mentor, Scofield

Nikki Giovanni s Kidnap Poem Imagery
Kidnap by Nikki Giovanni is a short poem about referring to her lover whom she has great
desires to be with. Giovanni wants her lover to return to her or to continue staying with her and
shows her devotion for her lover through this poem. With Nikki Giovanni s use of repetition,
imagery, and metaphor, the purpose of this poem is to captive the reader s mind through her
words. Giovanni s use of imagery in this poem appeals to the readers senses and shows readers that
poetrycan take them to different places. This poem expresses a tone of emotion and love. Giovanni
tries to draw in the readers using mixed and conflicting emotions.
First off, diction, structure, and genre are the foundations to any poem. Giovanni speaks in first

Essay On Carbon Monoxide Poisoning
Introduction
Carbon monoxide poisoning is illness caused by inhaling carbon monoxide gas. Carbon monoxide
is a colorless, odorless gas. When the gas is inhaled, it quickly enters the bloodstream and reduces
the amount of oxygen that goes to your organs and cells. This can quickly become a life threatening
problem.
Carbon monoxide poisoning is a medical emergency. People who are elderly or who have heart
disease or lung disease are more likely to have worse effects from carbon monoxide poisoning.
What are the causes?
This condition is often caused by inhaling exhaust fumes from fuel burning sources. Burning any
fuel that contains carbon (gasoline, coal, charcoal, wood) releases carbon monoxide into the air.
Sources of carbon monoxide fumes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Oxygen can be delivered through:
A face mask.
Breathing tubes that fit under your nostrils.
A breathing tube that is placed down your throat (endotracheal tube), in severe cases.
A hyperbaric chamber, in some severe cases. A hyperbaric chamber is a clear, cylindrical,
enclosed space. You lie inside of the chamber, and oxygen is pumped into the chamber. This
speeds up the process in which oxygen is absorbed and replaces the carbon monoxide in your blood.
Follow these instructions at home:
Do not return to the area where you were exposed to carbon monoxide. The area must be
thoroughly ventilated before it is safe to return.
Take over the counter and prescription medicines only as told by your health care provider.
Do not use any products that contain nicotine or tobacco, such as cigarettes and e cigarettes. If you
need help quitting, ask your health care provider.
Return to your normal activities as told by your health care provider. Ask your health care provider
what activities are safe for you.
Keep all follow up visits as told by your health care provider. This is important.
How is this prevented?
Install a carbon monoxide detector in your home.
Have all gas stoves and furnaces inspected once a year.
Clean all fireplace chimneys and flues at least once a year.
Have the exhaust system in your car checked once a year.
Never keep a car s motor running in a closed garage.
Never sleep in a car with the motor running.

Dr. Gregory House Listening Style Analysis
Although I am just being introduced to the television show House M.D., I have seen several
different aspects of interpersonal communication through each of the main characters. The most
profound aspect of communication demonstrated in the episode Three Stories, is listening.
McCornack describes listening as receiving, attending to, understanding, responding to, and
recalling sounds and visual images (147). In specific, Dr. Gregory House, Dr. Allison Cameron
and the students all exhibit key characteristics of the four listening styles with the incorporation of
the functions of listening. First off, the main character of House M.D., Dr. Gregory House, can be

key role in demonstrating a different listening style that many students in any educational career

How Is Mark Twain Racist
When taking a look at Mark Twain s Huckleberry Finn, racism is a large theme that seems to be
reoccurring. What some may think to be racism in Twain s words, can also be explained as, good
story telling appropriate to the era the story takes place in. Twain himself has been suggested as a
racist based on the fact that he uses the word niggerin his book. However, Twain was an avid
abolitionist. For those who claim that Twain was a racist must have only been looking out for
themselves and not those who are willing to learn about the past whether it be ugly or perfect.
Racism was and forever will be a dark part of the American past, and no one can change that, no
matter how many books one may alter.
In this book a number of dialects ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The main focus is to replace the 219 times the word nigger is used with slave. One would doubt
that Twain would input the N word into his book without having a good reason to do so. At the
time of writing this book, the Civil War was over and the general thought was that slavery and
racism was over. The thought then leads to the fact that Twain wanted to make a point of letting
readers know that, just because you have abolished slavery does not mean that the racism and
bigotry has gone with it. The repel of slavery made no difference to the racism card, and he
wanted his Northern readers to know it. When the argument of replacing the word nigger with
slave one sees the issue with that. The issue being that nigger in that time meant African
American, not necessarily a slave. So looking at a high school or college student in the future
reading Huckleberry Finn for the first time and reading is with the word slave the story loses its
effect on the reader. It does not give a sense of the time, it would only give a vibe that something
is not right in the story. When reading this story for the first time, one must have an open mind
and not pay attention to little things like racism in this book. The main plot is not, lets raft
down a river and see how racist we can be. As one reads the story flows, and part of that flow is to
allow discrepancy in racial slurs. It is okay to have the

How Mark Twain Influenced American Literature
How Mark Twain Influenced American Literature When you think of the start of American
Literature, what comes to your mind? Authors such as Walt Whitman, Ernest Hemmingway,
Emily Dickinson, Charles Dickens, and Mark Twain stick out in our minds. They were the face of
post civil war and social realism poetry. Today we will take a closer look at Mark Twain
, who was
also known as the Father of American Literature. His work has survived more than 100 years after
his death.
Mark Twain was born in 1835, as Samuel Clemens in the town of Florida, Missouri. He was the

The Civil War in 1861 shattered his dream job. He was no longer allowed to be a pilot because
of the war. Instead of flying, he joined the war. This was also short lived for him. It lasted for
about only 2 weeks. It seemed that his dreams were dying out fast. He next decided to travel out
West. Where he worked for another local Newspaper. He developed the alter ego name Mark
Twain during this time. In 1869, Mark Twain wrote and published his first book The Innocents
Abroad . Sam married his soulmate, Olivia in 1870. They moved to Hartford, Connecticut in
1871 and started a family. The story Roughing It was published in 1872 and the following year
The Gilded Age , which was a story about politics and the corrupt people involved, was published.
The money was fruitful from these books. His family and himself stayed in Hartford for the next
17 years. Well known stories such as The Adventures of Huck Finn , Adventures of Huckleberry
Finn , Life on the Mississippi , The Prince and the Pauper , and Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur

from Samuel s enjoyment of investing into failing inventions. Shortly after, one of their daughters
died from illness, and Samuel once again witnessed more death. In the 1900 s, his writings became
more depressing. They focused on failing humanity. Whether he started to

Instead of the politicians worrying about peace and trying to not go to war they ignored most
policy trying to go to war to prevent any other conflicts and to stop the spread of communism and

Examples Of Supernatural In Jane Eyre
In Jane Eyre, the theme of the Supernatural is used quite often. It is a rather interesting theme
when reading; it grabs your attention and pulls you in. No one can resist a good supernatural
theme, examples of some rather famous novels and/or films are: Star Wars, Star Trek, Harry
Potter, Divergent, etc. Shaking my hair from my eyes, I lifted my head and tried to look boldly
round the dark room: at this moment a light gleamed on the wall. Was it, I asked myself, a ray
from the moon penetrating some aperture in the blind? No; moonlight was still, and this stirred;
while I gazed, it glided up to the ceiling and quivered over my head. I can now conjecture readily
that this streak of light was, in all likelihood, a gleam from a lantern, carried by someone across the

and so are sympathies; and so are signs; and the three combined make one mystery to which
humanity has not yet found the key. I never laughed at presentiments in my life, because I have had
strange ones of my own. Sympathies, I believe, exist (for instance, between far distant, long absent,
wholly estranged relatives asserting, notwithstanding their alienation, the unity of the source to
which each traces his origin) whose workings baffle mortal comprehension. And signs, for aught
we know, may be but the sympathies of Nature with man. (Charlotte Bronte, Jane Eyre, Chapter 21,
pg. 222) Foreshadowing s an odd thing too, as is symbolism, also are little hints from the author
about supernatural tricks she ll use later to bring the protagonists back together when they re dozens
of miles apart. Erm, what s that called? Yeah, a deux ex machina. This passage is noteworthy
because it s one of the only moments that Jane actually claims to the reader that she believes in
some kind of supernatural foreknowledge and, a psychic connection between people. Still, Jane
proposes that these seemingly supernatural connections may have natural explanations that we just

Character Analysis Of Lorraine Hansberry s A Raisin
Character Analysis: A Raisin in the Sun The play A Raisin In the Sun, by Lorraine Hansberry is
a classic, revolutionary play written in the times of segregation and discrimination of skin tones.
Throughout the story, the Youngers display how they are just like an ordinary family;
everybody has their own special personality. This caused many conflicts when it was time to
decide what to do with the check coming in the mail for ten thousand dollars. Walter Lee
Younger, the son and oldest child of mama, was very passionate about the idea of using the
money to open his own liquor store. His different personality traits take over and create him into a
bossy man of the house. A little background information about Walter is he is around his mid
thirties. He is sister to Beneatha, married to Ruth, and has a son by the name of Travis. Water Lee
has the personality of a hustler. In this case, hustler is defined by someone who will do anything
whether illegal, the best for the community, or gamble, just to get a dollar; in addition will stop at
nothing to get what they want. Even though this play was written in the 60s, Walter still has the
demeanor of many African American males today in their twenties who are trying to create a
hustle. The only problem is Walter has the mental of a hustler but fails to execute the product of a
hustler which is money. He is ambitious about getting out his family out of poverty but doesn t

The Poetry Of Robert Frost
The purpose of this essay is to examine the poetry of Robert Frost for references to themes of
nature, religion, and humanity and how they relate to each other. This exercise will be prefaced
with a brief introduction to the man and his life as a segue to better understanding Frost s verse.
The unexpected but unavoidable aim of this composition will be to realize that Frost s body of
work is almost too sophisticated to comprehend, his manipulation of language so elusive that each
reader may believe Frost is speaking only to them, as the only incontrovertible truth is the poems
operate on so many levels . The reader should note that no discussion will be offered on poetry
form, as that is a consideration best left to literary experts, and otherwise is not germane to
thematic consideration. However, it takes little competence, more an openness, to allow the paean,
hymnal lyricism of Frost s words to insinuate themselves into one s inner voice; synchronizing with
his struggle to explain our very existence. That, instead, will be the focus of the paper.
Robert Frost was born on March 26, 1874 and died in January 1963 at the age of 86. He was born
in San Francisco but relocated with his mother to Massachusetts upon his father s death to live
on his grandparents farm. He showed a propensity for verse at a young age and his first experience
as a published poet occurred while he was still in high school. Here he met the love of his life,

Five years ago, the word in the media was that investigative journalism was dying. No longer

What happened to investigative journalism in the first place? The short answer: it was about the
money. Traditional investigative reporting is very expensive and time consuming. It requires travel,

Excitement in the Airport Terminal
With clear emerald eyes illuminating with enthusiasm, the young child s face bursts with

the parents, the two teenagers are like robots; their shoulders are slouched as they drag their feet,

This is one of the reasons why many intellectuals and academics claim that their discourses on the
new world recession are the truth. For example, some nations believe that their macro economic
policy is the best solution to get out of this global financial crisis. They are spreading their roots to
become the new hegemony.
However, these discourses also make possible the sharing of cues, ideas and values that contribute
to a better understanding of the global financial crisis, its impacts, causes and implications. They
facilitate the transmission of knowledge that is vital to find means to get out of the crisis and
minimise the negative impacts of the recession. However, transmission also implies that these
discourses influence people s perception and conception of the new world recession. Hence, these
discourses confer power to leaders and academics to manipulate the population to believe what they
want the latter to believe.
The Great Recession of the late 2000s started with the subprime crisis in 2007 that has weakened
the economy of almost all the big nations with maybe the exception of the Republic of China. It

how two different sides of society, the upper class and the middle class, can have and face very

Woolf says that Septimus is a spitting image of Clarissa as both share the same feelings about

Nuclear Rocket Research Papers
July 20th, 1969. The day man landed on the moon. At 20:18 UTC Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin
made their historical landing on the lunar Sea of Tranquility and made the first footsteps on our
celestial neighbour. Almost eight years prior President John F. Kennedy made his proclamation to
the American people, that we would land on the moon. Despite the success the task was an
enormous one. To launch a fiveteen ton capsule, send it to the moon, and then land it back on Earth
was very costly. Even now, half a century later, launching any chemical rocketis very costly and
very inefficient. There have been a multitude of ideas that have been proposed to alleviate the cost
and increase the efficiency of the rockets and one of the more promising, albeit risky, methods is
the use of nuclear power.

occur. These components, fuel and oxygen, are combined to create a combustion and thus thrust.
There is a major drawback to this. Spacecraft operate in space and ... Show more content on

negative. There are various forms of nuclear power that run at an assortment of efficiency level;
however we humans only really have access to one form and it so happens to be the worst. It is
known as nuclear

Parthenon. The white house is the official resident and workplace of the president of the United
States. Both buildings are built in different time periods however they share many similiarities and
shows how inspirational the Parthenonwas to future architects. Similarites include the built in

Aphorisms In Tuesdays With Morrie
In Mitch Albom s, Tuesdays with Morrie he used many literary devices such as aphorisms.
Overall, there are almost thirty amazing examples of aphorisms in Tuesdays with Morrie . Such
as, Love always wins. (pg. 40), The most important thing in life is to learn how to give out love,
and to let it come in. (p. 52), another one includes, Love is the only rational act. (p. 52). Morrie s
aphorisms mainly speak of love, and how you should treat others. It is a lesson that makes readers
think of their values and their ethics. It also makes you question your morals and how you treat one
another. In the Last Lecture , Randy Pausch also used many aphorisms, although not as much as
Tuesdays with Morrie, due to the fact our class only read an

Breastmilk contains a small amount of vitamin D but that is not adequate for proper infant development; therefore, exclusively breastfed infants should receive a supplement of vitamin D shortly after birth.17 The current American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) recommendations for vitamin D intake is 400 IU per day for all infants, children, and adolescents, beginning the first few days after birth.18 Deficiency of vitamin D is known as rickets and can have severe and lasting effects on children as they grow. Inadequate intake of vitamin D also decreases intestinal absorption of calcium and phosphorus, causing improper mineralization of bones and teeth and resulting in swelled joints, bowed legs, and poor growth during childhood. (See Figure 6.9.) Iron A full term infant is born with iron stores that reflect the mother s iron levels. If the mother consumes an iron rich diet during pregnancy, the fetus builds iron stores to last the first 4 6 months of life. By 6 months, a breastfed infant needs an additional iron source, at which time, iron fortified infant cereals can meet this need. The AAP recommends iron fortified formula for all formula fed babies. Preterm infants have lower iron stores at birth that are depleted around 2 3 months of age.19 Human milk is a source of iron, and compared with infant formula, a higher percentage of the iron in breastmilk is absorbed: 50% of the iron in breastmilk is absorbed, whereas only ... The History Of Newark Some of the top historical movements that the United States ever encountered were the following: civil rights, women s suffrage, gay rights, anti war, labor movement, black power, and occupy wall street. But there hasn t been a major movement or protest that has really shaped and changed the minds of our citizens of this country, to understand that our environment is in a crisis. People are still having the same concept that climate change and global warming isn t real when in reality it is. Meanwhile, in urban cities throughout America, there are treated like a city that isn t worthy to be cleaned, unpolluted, or even take into consideration of the people who are currently inhabit these cities and unfortunately Newark falls under that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The organization that represent the face of Newark s environment is called, Ironbound Community Corporation (ICC) but the team that specialize with this particular social issue is the Environmental Justice . Ironbound is in the East Ward of Newark but is considered the most contaminated section in comparison to the rest of Newark. Emily Turonis was the young lady who I had the privilege to interview and really find out about Newark and what has the Environmental Justice team have done to improve the living circumstances of Ironbound. The Ironbound has been a home to many industrial and residential communities where factories operate right next to homes, schools, and playgrounds. The East Ward is surrounded by the airport, the highways, the railroads, and the Passaic River. Having all these deserted lots, forgotten factories, neglected junk, all this takes a toll on the air, water, and land of Newark. In the early, 1980 s workers digging and made a nearby pool at the corner of St. Charles St. and Rome St. to discovered toxic levels of PCBs and other chemicals left behind by the former plastics plant. The federal government eventually declared this pool closed down in 1987. Same thing happened in the mid 2000 s, when the Ironbound opened an outdoors pool on the corner of Ferry St. and Waydell St. and a couple of years later they had to closed it down due to the high levels of dioxin. They immediately shut it down because it was hazards and unsafe for the children in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Book Of Exodus Comparison Essay The Book of Exodus, known in Hebrew as Sefer Shemot ( Book of Names ), is the second book of the Torah (Pentateuch) and the Old Testament of the Christian Bible. Exodus recounts the events of the Egyptian enslavement of the Israelites, their subsequent liberation by their god, Yahweh, and the Deliverer, Moses, and their journey to the Promised Land. To facilitate the comprehension of Exodus or to make hundreds of millions of dollars film studios have produced many film adaptations of Exodus two in the case of Cecil B. DeMille. Two such films are The Ten Commandments and The Prince of Egypt. The former, a live action motion picture released in 1956, is DeMille s second iteration of Exodus, while the latter, released in 1998, is a DreamWorks made animated version of the story. Overall, both films portray Exodus well, though they add staple Hollywood plot devices in an effort to modernize the four thousand odd year old story and end up negatively affecting the original story in the process. The Aboriginals did not gain the right to federal voting at least 150 years after the British colonized in Australia. All citizens of a nation deserve equal rights. Several key events and people influenced the journey and results of Aboriginal voting rights. Many major contributions towards the indigenous voting rights can be described as international criticism, Aboriginal Protests and Political conflicts. Male Aboriginal Australians were recognised as male people, and therefore could vote in state elections, It was expected to stay this way. However, the white Australiapolicy in 1901 caused many Aboriginal Men to lose their state voting rights and banned them from enrolling in federal elections, According to (hgj) The electoral officials had the power to decide who was an Aboriginal Native or not. After several years of discrimination, in 1934 Indigenous Australians took a stand in a day of mourning for indigenous rights. Another powerful argument for Aboriginal Australians was their world war efforts from 1914 to 1918. Many white Australians that fought with the Indigenous Australians believed that if they are good enough to fight and die for their country then they are good enough to vote in elections As a result of this effort, 1945 marked the year that all male Aboriginal war participants were granted Federal election voting rights. • 12. Moliere s Tartuffe By William Moliere The Enlightenment ushered in the idea that reason should be exercised in thinking instead of passion. Moliere s Tartuffe was written to challenge the dominant political and religious views of its time. The Catholic church viewed Moliere s Tartuffe as a threat to their faith and banned the play from being performed in public. Moliere became one of the great Enlightenment thinkers because of his willingness to speak out against the large corrupt institutions that many people did not have the courage to question. Marcel Gutwirth states, Who is Tartuffe? Who is the wretch come barefoot into the home of a man of some wealth and note who, in the teeth of almost universal detestation, establishes a grip upon that household so tenacious that the intervention of the sovereign is needed to shake him loose and send him packing? The play, as had been remarked, refuses to make up its mind. The rubicund glutton of the second act or the sinister jail bird of the fifth, the religious hypocrite or the professional confidence man, the professed nobleman the provinces or the penniless impostor make for a range that takes in some mutually exclusive possibilities. Two things stand out: he does lay claim to a very special relation to heaven; and, though far less overtly, sex exercises an equally strong claim on his person. The thought then leads to the fact that Twain wanted to make a point of letting readers know that, just because you have abolished slavery does not mean that the racism and bigotry has gone with it. The repel of slavery made no difference to the racism card, and he wanted his Northern readers to know it. When the argument of replacing the word nigger with slave one sees the issue with that. The issue being that nigger in that time meant African American, not necessarily a slave. So looking at a high school or college student in the future reading Huckleberry Finn for the first time and reading is with the word slave the story loses its effect on the reader. No one can resist a good supernatural theme, examples of some rather famous novels and/or films are: Star Wars, Star Trek, Harry Potter, Divergent, etc. Shaking my hair from my eyes, I lifted my head and tried to look boldly round the dark room: at this moment a light gleamed on the wall. Was it, I asked myself, a ray from the moon penetrating some aperture in the blind? No; moonlight was still, and this stirred; while I gazed, it glided up to the ceiling and quivered over my head. And signs, for aught we know, may be but the sympathies of Nature with man. Character Analysis Of Lorraine Hansberry s A Raisin Character Analysis: A Raisin in the Sun The play A Raisin In the Sun, by Lorraine Hansberry is a classic, revolutionary play written in the times of segregation and discrimination of skin tones. Throughout the story, the Youngers display how they are just like an ordinary family; everybody has their own special personality. • 27. The Poetry Of Robert Frost The purpose of this essay is to examine the poetry of Robert Frost for references to themes of nature, religion, and humanity and how they relate to each other. This exercise will be prefaced with a brief introduction to the man and his life as a segue to better understanding Frost s verse. The unexpected but unavoidable aim of this composition will be to realize that Frost s body of work is almost too sophisticated to comprehend, his manipulation of language so elusive that each reader may believe Frost is speaking only to them, as the only incontrovertible truth is the poems operate on so many levels . The reader should note that no discussion will be offered on poetry form, as that is a consideration best left to literary experts, and otherwise is not germane to thematic consideration. However, it takes little competence, more an openness, to allow the paean, hymnal lyricism of Frost s words to insinuate themselves into one s inner voice; synchronizing with his struggle to explain our very existence. That, instead, will be the focus of the paper. Robert Frost was born on March 26, 1874 and died in January 1963 at the age of 86. He was born in San Francisco but relocated with his mother to Massachusetts upon his father s death to live on his grandparents farm. However, these discourses also make possible the sharing of cues, ideas and values that contribute to a better understanding of the global financial crisis, its impacts, causes and implications.
