There are many ways of cleaning data using many tools that help in formatting, removal of unwanted
parts of data. Here I will make an effort to demonstrate a method of extracting, cleaning of data files
using Visual Basic and evaluating its usefulness. This report comprises certain topics that I have
studied during the course of my masters program which includes few concepts of data warehousing,
data management and data analytics. These topics cover different ways of data manipulation such as
extraction, transformation techniques, loading of data using SQL queries (creation of tables, insertion
of values and checking their normal forms), creation of a data warehouse, evaluating its usefulness by
measuring several factors, applying data mining techniques to analyze data in a better way that will
lead to improved understanding of business and importance of analytics on business data.
2. ETL process
ETL is a process of managing databases by performing the below mentioned steps:
Step 1: Extraction Extract data from data sources.
Step 2: Transformation
 Data cleaning: remove errors, inconsistencies and redundancies.
 Data transformation: transform data into warehouse format.
 Data reduction: remove useless data, shrink data without loss of information.
Step 3: Loading Load transformed data into database/warehouse.

How Successfully Did the Conservative Party Adapt to the...
When assessing the various intricate denouements of the late Victorian and Edwardian periods of the
British political history, one must stop and wonder about the performance of the Conservative party as
one of the protagonists of the parliamentary struggles and changing social and demographic scenarios.
By engaging in such exploration, it is almost impossible to avoid one of the most formidable questions
which might consequentially arise was the Conservative party a deliberate and conscious derivative of
the changing political climate or merely a spontaneous chain reaction driven by luck and
circumstance? The answer to this question may be crucial for understanding the nature of the party s
success/failure. In order to explain why this very nature may be the crux of articulating Conservative
politics during these two historical periods, we will use the analogy of Real vs. Nominal wages .
The simplest and most concise way of explaining the difference between real and nominal wages is by
providing an example. If one was to get a raise which amounts to extra 10% of the original value,
there is no guarantee that the raise will amount to a wider set of opportunities. The improvement of
one s overall financial well being is grounded within the concept of real wage. The mere increase in
nominal wage has no implications if not adjusted for inflation. Moreover, if the inflation rate was to
exceed the percentage change of the salary, the worker would actually end up being worse off

Environmental Conditions Of The United States Essay
2. Environmental Conditions In terms of climate, the region is characterized by high temperatures
during most months of the year. Minimal rainfall is experienced mostly during winter but is usually
irregular. The high humidity is caused as a result of the hot temperatures in Bahrain coupled with the
shallow seas around. Bahrain is located in a region that has experienced an increase in urbanization
over recent years. The quick population growth has occurred mainly in urban areas. The result of this
rapid growth has caused an increase in UHI (Urban Heat Island). Increased UHI intensity associates
with increased energy consumption, in using the cooling system in particular (Al Obaidi, Ismail
Rahman, 2014). Being that the cooling system is the region s major concern, it only translates to more
energy consumption. With the high energy consumption, it is therefore worrying to imagine that the
main energy source being used in the region is still derived from fossil fuels. This concern was
expressed by the chief economist at DIFC, Dr. Naser Saidi. In his opinion, the GCC countries should
act with caution regarding their use of the oil reserves instead of relying on them for financial support.
Dr. Naser alleges that Kuwait will run out of oil by 2017 whereas Saudi Arabia s reserve will be spent
by 2035 that is if they continue using at their current rate (Gulf Business, 2012). Apart from the
climate, the use of materials also has an effect on energy spent as it limits the use of

Self Portrait on the Border Line between Mexico and the United States Reflection
While visiting the Museum of Fine Arts Houston, the infamous Paint the Revolution: Mexican
Modernism, 1910 1950 exhibits on display. According to the museum label, this exhibit displays the
development of modern art in Mexico and the social, political, and cultural forces that shaped it over
the course of nearly half a century (MFA Houston), mainly images depicted of the Mexican
Revolution from the eyes of artists during this time period. This monumental revolution transformed
Mexico.
In 1932, through use of oil on metal, Frida Kahlo paints herself as many other Mexican citizens after
the revolution in Self Portrait on the Border Line between Mexico and the United States. In the image,
the sun and moon only stand over Mexico, which Kahlo is telling us where her heart truly lies. It is
evident as she stands in her pink dress, bare chest showing through, with cigarette in one hand and
Mexican flag in the other that she stands true to her feminist mind and Mexican culture. Kahlo stands
on a cement block reading Carmen Rivera painted her picture in 1932 (PBS.org), which marks the
border between Mexico and the United States. In 1930, when her husband and fellow artist, Diego
Rivera, received several commissions to paint murals in the United States, they packed their bags and
moved north. Although Diego was content in America, Frida was homesick and miserable, thus

Macrophages Difference Between White Blood Cells And Microbes
The human immune system is a complex network of cells and organs that evolved to fight off
infectious microbes. Much of the immune system s work is carried out by an army of various

A Research Study On Health
Abstract Health is the most important part of the existence, and is in today s age the most critical,
costly and time consuming area. People want to safeguard their health and take all the necessary
precautions all by themselves, moving to the healthcare facilities only at dire need. A leading
technology paradigm is the use of biosensors in quantifying the biological and physiological
parameters and transferring the result to a GUI for health monitoring without the assistance of any
healthcare personal. These biosensor enabled devices are becoming very popular in the masses as they
can themselves monitor their health. Biosensors coupled with the wireless technology offer pervasive
ubiquitous remote health monitoring and being extremely small enhances the user s mobility with
simultaneous monitoring. The work has discussed the biosensor structure and its importance in
healthcare. Various breakthroughs in the biosensor innovations have been listed. A varied discussion
about the integration of the wireless technology with the biosensors has been done, emphasizing the
importance of real time healthcare monitoring, and lastly a literature survey for the above mentioned
areas has been given.

Weight Gain and Misconceptions and Tips for Weight Management
In this modern era of globalization, people are so occupied with various problems and issues coming
from everywhere, to an extent that their health is often neglected. Therefore, health problems elevates
and there are rising awareness of the importance of maintaining a good health. One of the most
common health problems is being overweight. Therefore, we are going to discuss about factors
contributing to weight gain, misconceptions in weight management, followed by some tips in weight
management. But here comes the question: Why is it so important to maintain our body weight? What
is so bad about being overweight? It is important to be aware of the seriousness of being overweight,
as it is accompanied by few of the most dangerous diseases ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Knowing what your body needs is important to weight management and can control overconsumption
and under consumption of food. Weight management does not include fad diets that promote quick,
temporary weight loss. Instead, it focuses on the long term results that are achieved through slow
weight loss, followed by retention of an ideal body weight for age, sex, and height. Weight gain is so
complicated, that there are so many variables out there to manipulate weight gain. However, the key
factor is no other than an unbalanced diet. People nowadays take too much sugar and salt. They prefer
oily food over steamed ones, and take fast food as regular meals. More and more people are beginning
to inculcate processed food as a part of their daily life. Excessive intake of certain macronutrients like
carbohydrates also contributes to weight gain. Thus, we must be careful with what we eat as our diet
associates with the development of our health. It has been a mystery of all times that, even though
most men eat more than women, they still gain less weight, but burns more fat. The answer lies within
the biological differences between men and women. On average, women s total energy expenditure is
around five to ten percent lower than men s (The Weight Watchers Research Department Article). In
the other hand, difference in physical activities always causes men to be more active compared to
women. Men too have higher metabolic rate, makes them to burn fat

How The Domino Theory Backfired
How the Domino Theory Backfired
Brought up in the 1950s, a theory primarily gave way to a supporting a war started in regards to it.
After two world wars had started and ended in the span of less than 50 years, the first half of the 1900s
were influenced and shaped by the war and war effort. This was a time in world history ruled by
vulnerability, but not long after the end of the infamous world wars, the Cold War followed. This war
was an American effort against the Russian to, in part, fight the rise of communism. One of the most
notorious wars for America, the only war they ever lost, was the Vietnam War; a branch of the Cold
War effort of containment, or at least the effort to stop the spread of communism, was a theory coined
as the domino theory. While the theory made sense at the time, in hindsight, it was flawed, and there
were other ways to accomplish the what the domino theory was then thought to achieve.
The domino theory was defined as the held belief that if one communist country fell, neighboring
communist countries would fall with it, and in turn, communism would eventually reach America and
take over the world. This was theorized by American foreign policy advisors, but the phrase was
popularized after Dwight D. Eisenhower s use of it in one of his speeches. In this speech, he talked
about the importance of American intervention in South Vietnam to allow the creation of a buffer
country (South Vietnam), a country or state that stood between a potentially

Senior Year Research Paper
I cant believe that I am finally a senior in high school it seems just like yesterday I was beginning high
school. As I begin my final year I am beginning to realize that this year I will be faced with many
responsibilities and will make tons of memories. But I hope that I am able to make my senior year the
best yet. Through this final year I hope to have passing grades in all of my classes, to win pep rallies,
and to have perfect attendance.
One of my goals for senior year is to pass all of my classes so that I am ready when I get to college. I
will do everything that is put in front of me to the best of my ability no matter how big or how small
the task is. Even if some of the things that I have put in front of me might make me stumble and want
to give up and just not continue through it I want to press through and finish what is out in front of me.
I know that things will get hard and that I will begin to get stressed out but I do not want to let it stop
me from achieving my goal. When I think things are all good and if I slow down that nothing will

trait of creepiness. The Landlady s creepiness is evident when she shows that she has been waiting for

the Landlady s creepiness when Billy rings the doorbell at the Bed and Breakfast and then at once it

Animal Cruelty and Captivity Zoos, aquariums, and circuses do not treat animals with respect or
civility. They inevitably suffer from diseases, pain, starvation, and fear so they will perform
seamlessly for the public. Owners force their pets to carry out pointless tricks and performances and
are almost always deprived of their normal behavior. Workers within the facilities that the animals
occupy rip them from their natural habitat, beat submission into the performing animals, and deprive
them of food and water. The wild animals will not live their full lifespan due to the mental and

In captivity, they are limited to the distance they are allowed to swim. They travel in small, repetitive
circles and are unable to get the amount of exercise required for them to live a healthy life (Aquariums
and Marine Parks). Dolphins and whales communicate and navigate with one another by echolocation.
When placed in an arena with restricted walls, the vibrations from their calls bounce off the pool s
glass and drive the sea animal insane (Aquariums and Marine Parks). Being in a small pool or tank
impairs the animal s mental and physical health. Some orcas break their teeth on the metal bars
containing them in hopes of chewing their way to freedom (Aquariums and Marine Parks). This often
leads to oral hygiene issues and can end in serious illness or death for the whales and dolphins. Deaths
and sickness in marine parks and aquariums are common occurrences that are frequently neglected
and overlooked. Orcas that usually live for hundreds of years only live a few because tight spaces
cause insanity, synthetic foods lead to an unhealthy diet, and punishments cause the animals to have
traumatic experiences. They have gruesome injuries from attempting to escape and are burned, beaten,

Why We Should Not Have School Uniforms
It has often been debated if middle schoolers should or should not have school uniforms. There are a
lot of pros and cons of having school uniforms. One pro is students would not have to fight over name
brand clothing (which would cost the parents less for clothes). One counter argument talks about how
dated the system is, it also talks about how it discourages free thinking and self expression. The cons
of having school uniforms outweigh the pros of having school uniforms. If we did not have school
uniforms it would be easier to express yourself. It would be easier to express yourself because you
aren t restricted by a mandatory school uniform. Another benefit of not having school uniforms is that
students moral would be higher. Many students dislike the idea of having a uniform because they
believe that having one creates a corporate identity and a brand for themselves. Having school
uniforms violate a student s right to freedom. The main counterargument against this is how a uniform
acts as the initiation of a passage of life. Bill O Chee also argues that school uniforms are An equally
powerful statement of belonging. They also argue that having a school uniform would cost parents less
money because the parents wouldn t ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

violence may still happen if they had school uniforms or not, students may be discouraged to, but if

they belong just because of the school uniforms, they feel like they belong because of the people and

Social Problems
According to Ferreira (2005:86), four elements may be discerned when attempting to define a social
problem. The four elements are: a pressure (influential) group; a social condition; a set of values and
norms; and collective action.
Taking these four elements as building blocks the following definition of a social problem may be
arrived at: A social condition, known to a pressure group as posing a threat to current values and
norms, that requires collective action to rectify (Pretorius, Le Roux, Lesufi, Liebenberg, Martin
Rautenbach Zegeye in Ferreira 2005:87).
In the sections that follow I will attempt to clarify each one of the four elements that constitute the
definition of a social problem.

Today, Africa s rate of urbanization is second to none (Tibaijuka in de Beer, du Plessis, Liebenberg
Moloi 2005:116). At the eve of independence, during the 60 s for a handful of African countries,
urbanization, in most cases, was well sought after (social condition). Western powers had developed
following paths of industrialization and urbanization and the same was thought possible in Africa
(pressure groups). The basic tenants of this assumption went as follows: Capital distributed from the
West to Africa was to be invested in industrial enterprises in centers that wielded political power. This
newly found industry would promote manufacturing and encourage domestic savings. Jobs would be
created and the capital accumulated reinvested in development projects (de Beer et al 2005: 115 125).
And thus, by following this path Africa would become self sufficient (values and norms).
However, five decades later Africa has failed to develop as rapidly or to the extent to which the West
has. Urban poverty escalates daily. A handful of problems face the African city: insufficient provision
of jobs, poorly delivered public services, a weakening revenue base, and escalating pollution levels.
According to de Beer et al. (2005:116 117), it is projected that by 2030 half of Africa s population will
have become urbanized, most of whom will live in poverty (social problem).
There are some solutions on offer. Urban agriculture, albeit somewhat controversial, has

The Websites Of Toms Shoes And Apple Inc.
Introduction In this era of consumerism, it is important that any and all organization s websites target
their customers and are easily maneuverable. A website is a marketing tool that gives a face to not
only the product in which one is selling, but the organization itself. The common theme to a great
website, I have noticed, is simplicity. A simple website is easy to navigate and has clear product
descriptions, which is an important facet for keeping the attention span of their targeted consumers.
For this analysis, I will critique the websites of TOMS Shoes and Apple Inc.; both very successful
organizations that have seemed to master this art of simplicity for selling their products. Let s take a
look.
Body
TOMs Shoes, one of the most notable shoe retailers in the entire world, has a purpose behind the
selling of their phenomenal products; and it is quiet different than that of its competition. Shoes for a
better tomorrow is their mission statement, which is on the front page of their website, Toms.com.
Every time they sell a pair of shoes, a pair is given to a child in poverty whom is in need of shoes. I
chose to critique this organization s website solely because of this great mission they serve, and the
means by which they go about doing so. This organization was founded in 2006, and has seen constant
improvement ever since then. With much help from their website and great marketing campaigns, the
company has recently expanded to selling eyewear; with part of its

The Negative Influence Of Sharks In Our Culture
When people hear the word ocean many things come to mind, sandy beaches, waves, and many
happier enjoyable things. Another word that comes to mind when people think of the of the word
ocean is sharks, for some the thought of sharks in the ocean is enough to keep them out of the water.
Throughout history sharks have had a presence in media and in our culture. The shark culture in media
plays a large role in movies like sharknado, Jaws and many other unrealistic shark movies. Sharks also
are a part of many different cultures. In the food chain and animal kingdom there are over 400

The sharks that usually are portrayed in these movies are great white sharks. The larger the shark is
the more it is out for blood. In movies where there are sharks the sharks are very blood driven and of
large size. In the movie jaws the shark is large and in the events of the movie takes a large chunk out
of a boat by biting it. If jaws were an average and realistic sized shark, then biting the hole in the ship
would not have been possible. The shark s ability to damage and sink a large man made item makes it
seem more monstrous and scary. Sharks are very powerful apex predators, like many animals they are
made up of mainly muscle. When sharks attack people or other animals they do a lot of damage, when
combined the shark s strength and sharp teeth are dangerous. With the unlikely event of a shark attack

point of view, ATM combines both the data and multimedia information into the wired networks while
scales well from backbones to the customer premises networks. To ensure the success of ATM, lots of
the design issues have been standardized by ATM Forum. Wireless personal communication networks
(PCN) has been growing very fast in the last decade. Nowadays, laptop, cellular phone, and pagers are
very popular. Many systems have been developed to provide different services, such as, Personal
Communications Service (PCS), Portable Telephone Systems, and Satellite Communications System.
Usually, these services do not guarantee QoS (Quality of Services) so they are not suitable for the fast
growing multimedia applications. Due to the success of ATM on wired networks, wireless ATM
(WATM) is a direct t result of the ATM everywhere movement. WATM can be viewed as a solution for
next generation personal communication networks, or a wireless extension of the B ISDN networks,
which will support integrated data transmission (data, voice and video) with guaranteed QoS. WATM
architecture and protocols are already being well discussed. The ATM Forum are currently involved in
defining the baseline

The Vulnerabilities And Cyber Kill Chain
A. ICS Vulnerabilities and Cyber Kill Chain
1. Reconnaissance Summarize plausible active gathering, passive gathering, and active reconnaissance
techniques that the adversary could have executed to gain intelligence on the target in the scenario.
Reconnaissance is the act of collecting background research necessary to identify and select targets.
(1) Cyber reconnaissance is an important stage of a well organized cyber attack, and is also one of the
most time consuming activities. This phase can exploit the information gathered about the target s
weaknesses. The type of information the hacker is looking for is how to actually get in: firewall ports
that are open, network hosts, services that are running. Critical information that should be obtained
during the reconnaissance phase include network information, host information, security policies, and
human information.
Active reconnaissance is a type of computer attack in which an intruder engages with the targeted
system to gather information about vulnerabilities. (2) This type of information gathering involves
doing something on the target network, which could potentially be tracked back to you. The idea of
this phase is to gather IP addresses, subnet masks, network topologies, user names, operating systems,
firewalls, password requirements and change frequency.
Passive reconnaissance is focused more around public information and not engaging with the targeted
systems. Typical passive reconnaissance can include

Over the past twenty five years, Starbucks has been leading the coffee revolution and turned a dying
industry upside down by mainstreaming their stores and creating a public fascination. From the
beginning of Starbucks stores through 2006, they have opened stores all over the U.S. and will be
taking it overseas. Starbucks is leading the coffee revolution and has expanded their reach all over the
world. With this much growth, it is easy for the company to lose their edge by forgetting the reasons
they have become so large from the beginning. In this analysis, I am going to go over an economic

Everywhere you look you are bombarded with cups, coasters, spoons and anything else related to
coffee. The customer service is dropping and this is ultimately bringing down their profits and is not
due to the availability of growth.
Starbucks is still only supplying less than 5 percent of the coffee market. With this low of a number
there is still much more growth that can take place within the industry. This number allows for many
more stores to be added to their list of future prospects. Weber states that competitiveness is related to
company effectiveness, which is determined by whether the company satisfies the needs of
stakeholders (groups affected by business practices). Important stakeholders include stockholders,
who want a return on their investment; customers, who want a high quality product or service; and
employees, who desire interesting work and reasonable compensation for their services. The
community, which wants the company to contribute to activities and projects and minimize pollution
of the environment, is also an important stakeholder. Companies that do not meet stakeholders needs
are unlikely to have a competitive advantage over other firms in their industry. The economy is still
moving ahead strong and the possibility of their becoming a recession are starting to become a bit
more possible. The finances of the company are very strong and one of the leaders within the industry

The history of Himachal Pradesh dates back to around two million years. At this point of time, people
lived in the foothills of Himachal Pradesh. These original inhabitants of Himachal, the Kols and the

The British Period amp; Struggle For Independence
The revolt of the 1857 did not see much participation from the people of the hill. They preferred to
stay away from the revolt and infact some of the rulers even extended help to the Britishers. Few
exceptions here included the ruler of Bushahr.
Between the year 1858 and 1914, the hill states of Chamba, Mandi and Bilaspur prospered under the
British rule and even supported the latter during the first world war. The important states that
contributed their men and money for the first world war included Kangra, Siba, Nurpur, Chamba,

Title: Extraction and Visualisation of the Kiwi Fruit and Strawberry Fruit DNA
Introduction: All organisms have DNA (Deoxyribonucleic Acid) in the nuclei of their cells. The aim of
this experiment is to extract this DNA using common household detergent to breakdown the cellular
membrane then through the use of ethanol to extract the DNA from the Kiwi and Strawberry fruit.
After the DNA has been extracted the DNA will be visualised by agarose gel electrophoresis which is
done by adding a dye to the extracted DNA then being placed in the gel, once the negatively charged
DNA has been placed in the gel it will slowly move towards the positively charged end (anode) then is
viewed under an ultraviolet light then compared to the control of known lengths of DNA to show the
size of the unknown DNA samples.
Materials Methods: The requirements for this practical are a small sample of diced kiwi fruit,
detergent, zip lock bag, 1 10mL auto pipette, chux cloth, water, funnel, conical flask, 15mL test tube,
ice (in esky), texter, ethanol, small plastic hook, 1.5mL eppendorf tube, micro centrifuge, paper towel,
10 200uL auto pipette, distilled water, heat block capable of reaching 55⁰C, agarose gel, intact plasmid
(pBluescript), salt, linearized plasmid (cut once), linearized plasmid (cut twice) cut with restriction
enzymes, tips for both 10 200uL and the 1 10mL auto pipettes, safety glasses, an ultra violet light and

The Negative Effects Of Video Games On Child Development
The media is a platform that gives instant access all over the world and an unlimited amount of
resources. It also provides immense opportunities for learning and skill development. However, the
media also causes negative impacts on learning, physical health, and development. As the media
grows and develops everyday, it constantly draws the public s attention and concerns in divided
opinions.
Bavelier, Eichenbaum, and Green (2014) explained the positive aspects of video games on individuals
skills and abilities. Video games were found to improve one s mental capacities that decline with age
and promote work skills. Not only did video game players acquire skills, they improved perceptual
and cognitive processing such as working memory and abstract reasoning because games enforced
players to constantly keep track of many items simultaneously in various levels of perception and
cognition. Action video games especially enhanced the players vision in contrast sensitivity, crowded
acuity, visual selective attention, and multiple object tracking tasks. Additionally, action gamers
showed improved attention in executive functions such as sustained attention block, impulsivity block,
dual tasking, and task switching. To take a step further, video games can be applied to real life for
medical purposes to help correct vision for those with amblyopia, train visual attention for dyslexic
children, and educate children about illnesses.

Anti Polygraph
A polygraph is a diagnostic instrument that records physiological changes in a person caused by stress.
It relies upon measuring the body s involuntary responses which occur when the subject is consciously
being deceptive or untruthful when answering questions. This instrument was first invented in 1921 by
John Augustus Larson and ever since law enforcement agencies have began using them in their hiring
processes. In addition, polygraph test are admissible in certain states and in federal court at the
discretion of the trial judge. States like California, Arizona, Nevada, Georgia, and Florida allow the
tests if everyone stipulates to their use and agrees to admit the results ... Show more content on

There are many websites and books that will teach any person on how the polygraph works and how it
can be deceived. For example, if a person is able to believe his lies and practices over and over again
on responding the criminal questions, that person most likely will be able to deceive the test. Another
method is by controlling your breathing when asked the relevant questions and artificially increase the
heartbeat when asked the irrelevant questions. A person can alter his heart rate by thinking something
scary or exciting. Richard McGarrah Helms was the director of the Central Intelligence Agency and
was well known and respected within the federal government. According to the article Richard Helms,
Ex C.I.A. Chief, Dies at 89 by CHRISTOPHER MARQUIS in the New York Times, Helms served
until 1977 as the American ambassador to Iran, whose ruler, Shah Mohammed Reza Pahlavi, was
supported by the United States. He later became an international consultant, specializing in trade with
the Middle East (Marquis 6). He once stated We discovered there were some Eastern Europeans who
could defeat the polygraph at any time. Americans are not very good at it, because we are raised to tell
the truth and when we lie it is easy to tell we are lying. But we find a lot of Europeans and Asiatics
can handle that polygraph without a blip, and you know they are lying and you have evidence that
they are lying ( A Tiny Revolution 1). Even high ranking government officials know the polygraph test
is not accurate, but yet law enforcement agencies keep using it. Furthermore, failing a polygraph can
be degrading and embarrassing. Failing a polygraph can hunt you for the rest of your life because
most law enforcement agencies will ask if you have taken one before. It can also close doors if an
employer finds out you have failed the test before. In addition,

message that is signed by any private keys of group can be verified with unique group public key.
Therefore attacker cannot identify who is sender of the message. Author also proposed an efficient
cooperative message authentication protocol, to reduce verification load where validity of safety
message is examined by only those verifiers, who are selected on the basis of their position related to
sender vehicles. This scheme helps to revoke malicious vehicles, maintaining system and various
different security principles. If a verifier discovers an invalid regular broadcast message that is not

Themes Of The Princess Bride And Diablo 3 And Billy Budd
In literature, there are many written works which have themes that intermix with one another. While
literature contains many themes, this does not mean that other works do not contain the same ideas as
presented in written works. In the three stories of The Princess Bride , Diablo 3 and Billy Budd
Violence and Quests can be seen largely throughout each tale. Violence, while still having the tradition
sense of the word, does not always mean fighting someone or physical attacks. Violence thematically
is the display of aggressive actions verbally, physically, or even aggression leading to a goal. The
other overarching theme in these stories is that of a Quest. Any self realizing adventure where the
protagonist realizes is considered a quest thematically as well as a large set goal for as seen within the
story. The main themes of The Princess Bride , Diablo 3 and Billy Budd are Quests as well as
Violence which show a deep connection on a thematic level.
In The Princess Bride by William Goldman the story starts both as an explanation of the story s origin
as well as where the story should go. Even in this prolog to the story a quest is outlined. And I realized
that I had let control of it go. . . They could change anything they wanted. So I did something of which
I am genuinely proud. I bought the book back from the studio, with my own money (Goldman xxxv).
Even before the story begins a quest was set before the reader. The quest of a man to have the book he

The Buckminster Fullerene Is The Third Allotropic Form Of...
In general, the Buckminster Fullerene is the third allotropic form of Carbon, with the other two being
Graphite and Diamond. The more proper term used to describe these compounds in regards to Carbon
compounds would be Graphenes. (22)
The Buckminster Fullerene was first discovered in 1985 by scientists Harold Kroto, Rickard Smalley
and Robert Curl. (1) They were able to discover that when Graphite is vaporized by a laser, a variety
of large Carbon cluster compounds were formed, the C60 compound or Buckminster Fullerene, being
the most abundant. (1) The other Fullerenes found were C28 C32, C44 and C78. The C60 compound
was named after Buckminster Fuller, as he was responsible for the creation of many geodesic domes,

This involves setting up an arc between two graphite electrodes and using a stream of inert gas, such
as Helium. (1) This causes the Carbon to form vapors, which then condenses into the C60 Fullerene as
well as additional types of Fullerenes. Source: S. Chuanchen, G. Haibin, F. Dufei, Extraction of C60
cluster ion beam, Review of Scientific Instruments, 65, 1405 1407 (1994).
Due to the cage like structure formed during the synthesis of the Fullerene, the compound is able to
trap small molecules of the inert gas within the structure. The general formula used to represent a gas
enclosed within the structure of the Fullerene is nX@C60, where n is the number of trapped atoms and
X represents the trapped gas. (1) The interior diameter of the C60 compound is 7.09Å, which is large
enough to trap a variety of the noble gases including Helium, Neon, Argon, Krypton and Xenon. (##)
In addition to trapping gases, the Fullerenes are also able to hold metal ions within the structure. Since
the C60 compounds have a high electron affinity, they can readily accept electrons from alkali metals.
The compounds that are formed from the enclosure of metal ions are known as Endohedral
Metallofullerenes. (1) Examples of alkali metals that can be placed inside the C60 compound include
Sodium, Potassium, Rubidium and Caesium. For the alkali metals, the formula would resemble,

Johann left the Josef s group in 1825. Josef Lanner quickly became highly regarded and very popular
for his waltzes. He began giving concerts in the Vienna Volsgarten in 1831 and he conducted the
chamber ball in the Hofburg beginning in the year 1840. His music spread all over Europe and even to
the USA where it was very popular. His popularity eventually waned in the shadow of Johann Strauss.
Lanner composed the piece Die Mozartisten for the 15th anniversary of Mozart s death as a tribute.
The second piece I listened to was the Concierto Madrigal by Joaquin Rodrigo. The piece was very,
very long. As a listener, it was easy to tell there were many separate works or sections within this
piece. The overall feel was a Spanish theme with a lot of great guitar playing. As expressed by Oxford
Music Online, Joaquin Rodrigo became blind at the age of three and remained so until his death. He

and its artistic aim of making Catholic theology appeal to the masses. Biblical stories with drama and
movement were some of the ways Baroque artists sought to engage the viewer. Baroque dominated
most of the seventeenth century Europe and later developed into the Rococo style later during the
eighteenth century. Begun in the 1700 s, the Rococo Era was art of the aristocracies for the
aristocracies. It was technically flashy, but without deep thought or emotional drama, the Rococo
celebrated the leisure activities of the upper class. The Rococo style is above all an expression of wit
and frivolity. Rococo style signaled the shift from Rome to Paris as the new capital of culture and
fashion in Europe. Both styles were influenced by political, social and religious factors, and there are
profound differences between the two styles. For this essay, I chose to compare an Italian painting
from the Baroque era with a French painting from the Rococo Era. The two paintings I chose to
compare and analyze are Luca Giordano s Martyrdom of St. Bartolomeo, and Jean Marc Nattier s
Terpsichore, Muse of Music and Dance.
Luca Giordano s Martyrdom of St. Bartolomeo from ca 1660 is a painting of martyrdom, in which the
human suffering of the saint is shown against a dark background. The painting is in

Preventing Still Births and Miscarriages Essay
Many women have a time in their life where they have a pregnancy loss whether it s an abortion,
miscarriage, or stillborn. A lot of mothers go into depression when the loss of their baby is out of their
control such as miscarriages and still born. There are family members very close to me who went
through this such as my mother who had a miscarriage with in the first trimester and my first cousin
who had at still born in fourth trimester. This information is imperative so women can be careful when
they are pregnant; also before the pregnancy occurs the information in particular about stillborn and
miscarriages is important for potential mothers to know certain procedures they could do in order to
prevent and prepare for this tragedy.

With fallopian tube problems there could be liquid in the tube which cause disruption within the
traveling of the egg throughout the tube, the tube could also be too small, if this happens the egg could
get stuck, begin to grow within the tube itself then burst. With the uterine/cervical problem an egg
doesn t implant properly in the uterus or an embryo with structural defects that prevent it from
developing. On the other hand miscarriages causes are infections, radiation, diseases, certain
medication, lifestyle factors (smoking, drinking, illegal drug use), incompetent cervix, and etc.
Women can help themselves and doctors to prevent miscarriages. But the embryo or fetus has a
chromosome that causes it to develop abnormally which is not usually a sign of a condition that could
causes problems with future pregnancies. Usually this happens by chance when fertilized egg divides
and grows. This problem causes at least half miscarriages, Often time s doctors cannot detect why the
fetus died, sometimes it s meant for humans to be uncertain, everything happens for a reason and
everything does not have an explanation behind results. Stillbirths on the other hand are problems
within the womb, and majority of the time doctors cannot detect the problem of stillborn. Since most
mothers do not fully understand the main problem they often tend

A Qualitative Analysis
One issue that sports have been facing recently is that of doping. The article A qualitative analysis of
the experiences of elite athletes who have admitted to doping for performance enhancement ,
published in the International Journal of Sport Policy and Politics, by Kate Kirby, Aidan Moran, and
Suzanne Guerin, provides insight as to the motives of athletes who dope, as well as what may help to
deter doping in athletes. Kirby, Moran, and Guerin chose to look at athletes who had previously
participated in doping. They wanted to look at possible reasons for the athletes doping, how that
doping affected them socially, and the effectiveness of doping discouragements. Five elite male
athletes who had admitted to doping agreed to participate in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

al s 2011 article, as it shows the negative effects that doping can have on the careers of athletes if they
are discovered. It demonstrates that the athletes who dope are generally not allowed to participate in
their sports again. It also shows that thousands of athletes were willing to dope, despite knowing that
if they were caught, the consequences could include being banned from their sports and having their
source of income be taken away. This may demonstrate, as was said in Kirby et. al s article (2011),
that consequences such as ban from a sport may not be very effective anti doping methods. It may be
more beneficial to make known the consequences such as loss of friendship and respect of the general
public to dissuade athletes from doping. The research of Kirby et. al (2011) did point towards the
moral issues of doping being more of a deterrent to athletes. One possible reason that so many of the
Russian athletes agreed to participate in doping could be that the government was playing a role these
athletes were not only feeling pressured to succeed for their own sense of accomplishment, and for the
reason of not letting down any team mates, but were feeling the pressure to succeed from more
powerful positions, such as coaches, medical professionals, and the

Stem cells are at the center of a new field of science...
Stem cells are at the center of a new field of science called regenerative medicine. Stem cells are
unique cells that are unspecialized and have the ability to proliferate and develop into many different
cell types by forming more daughter cells, which become new stem cells or differentiate to become
specialized cells. They have the potential to treat diseases, such as Parkinson s, diabetes and cancer.
They may be used to rejuvenate organs, reducing the need for organ transplants. The discovery of
stem cells is a rapid progressing field in medicine and research. Stem cells come from several origins
in the body and are capable of surviving over long periods. They are most commonly; adult stem cells,
human embryonic stem cells and induced ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For induced pluripotent stem cells, viruses are currently used to introduce embryonic genes and have
been shown to cause cancers in mouse studies, which may be harmful for human. Embryonic stem
cells might trigger an immune response, whereby, the recipient s body attacks the stem cells as foreign
invaders, or fail to function typically. It is imperative for researches to clarify and tackle ethical issues
to ensure that the uses of stem cells are accepted by the community. It is important that scientists
pursue stem cell research while treasuring lives. Stem cell therapy advocates the reparative response
of diseased, dysfunctional or injured tissue using stem cells. Regenerative medicine holds the promise
of ways to repair cardiovascular damage and improved cancer treatment. Stem cells are used to treat
leukemia, some joint repairs and repair the liver. The adult stem cells used to treat autism comes from
the human umbilical cord tissue. The role of stem cell therapies has brought the success level of
scientists higher as they are soon to discover treatments for more diseases. Research on stem cells
continues to advance knowledge about how healthy cells reinstate damaged cells in adult organisms.
The potential for future medical use is promising because stem cell research is a highly engrossing
area of contemporary biology that is leading to a changing landscape in healthcare. However, much

Compare And Contrast Xbox 1 Vs Ps4
Xbox 1 VS. PlayStation 4 There were 7,404,000,000 people on earth in 2016 and by that time
1,800,000,00 of them where people who play video games gamers , and ever since then the demand
for bigger and better gaming devices has been increasing. Now there are two major companies in the
gaming console scene, Microsoft and Sony, with there latest gaming consoles the
PlayStation 4 and the Xbox 1. Many people argue over witch of the consoles are better, and
I am here to prove that PlayStation 4 is better than Xbox 1.
One reason that the PlayStation 4 is better than the Xbox 1 is that the PlayStation 4 has better graphic
quality. according to a study conducted by the professional gaming company
IGN the PlayStation 4 matches the Xbox ones fps ( ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example the team based shooter game STAR WARS BATTLEFRONT has a graphics rate of
720p and a fps rate of 60 on the Xbox 1 whilst on the PlayStation 4 it has a graphics rate of
900p and matches the same fps rate that the Xbox 1 has. Another reason that the PlayStation 4 is better
than the Xbox 1 is that the PlayStation 4 has a more compact and sleeker design compared to the
competitor (Xbox 1). Having a more compact design means that it is better for storage and for travel
for example if you
2 of 3 were to go onto a trip and you could only pack one console and games the best choice would be
to pack the PlayStation 4, not to mention while also being smaller it can hold the same amount of data
that the Xbox 1 can. ( 500 gigabytes.) A third reason that the PlayStation 4 is better than the Xbox one
is that it has more accessory s such as decal skins for your controller, the afterglow headsets, and the
extremely popular PlayStation VR ( virtual reality). The most popular of all of the
PlayStation accessories being the PlayStation VR headset which was released
October,13,2016 and has been sold out in nearly every store that sold them since, it is

Explain The Four Kingdoms In The Book Of Daniel
Discussion Board 1 In the Book of Daniel the 7th chapter it is record that Daniel mentioned four great
kingdoms. The four great kingdoms that Daniel mentioned are Babylon, Medo Persia, Greece, and
Rome. Daniel stated in detail that these four kingdoms would come out the earth. The Babylonian,
Persian, Greek, and Roman empires were all different in size, power, and in many other ways. It is
noted that Daniel use animal symbols to describe these four kingdoms. First, the Babylonia kingdom
is represented by a lion that had wings like an eagle in which stood like a man on its two feet. It is
imperative to state, The lion s wings being torn off speaks of the king s insanity and loss of power;
standing on two feet like a man and receiving a human heart (mind) denotes Nebuchadnezzar s
humanitarian rule after his insanity; and the lion being lifted up from the ground indicates that it was
God who raised the king to his place of honor. Secondly, the Medo Persia kingdom is represented by a
bear that had three ribs in its mouth, and it was commanded to devour all flesh. This command that
was given means that this empire will conqueror other empires. Thirdly, the Greek Empire was
represented by a leopard with four wings and four heads. The Greek ... Show more content on

Third Grade Classrooms and Foldables
Introduction Good educators, especially in the lower levels of education, are always looking for
effective ways to improve students learning and interest in subjects that may not be as appealing. Any
activity that promotes reading and encourages critical thinking is especially valued by teachers
(Angus, 1993). One of the key developments promoted by Zike is the use of Foldables in the
classroom (2007). These are three dimensional hands on manipulative/graphic organizers. Foldables
can quickly organize, display and arrange data making it easier for students to grasp concepts,
theories, processes, facts, and ideas, or to sequence events as outlined in the content standards. They
can result in student made study guides that are compiled ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Results and Conclusions Initially the pretest scores of the two groups were compared to ensure that
they had equivalent attitudes toward social studies, which they were. The changes in scores from
pretest to posttest for each group (Lecture/Worksheet and Foldables) were then compared using a
paired samples t test. Casteel researched that the Lecture/Worksheet group had a .69 point mean gain
from pretest to posttest, which was not statistically significant, while the Foldables group had a 2.67
point mean gain from pretest to posttest, which was statistically significant (2006). This study was
designed to compare the effectiveness of two teaching methods (Lecture/Worksheet and Foldables).
The Lecture/Worksheet and Foldables groups had equivalent pretest scores, meaning they were
equivalent in attitudes toward social studies at the beginning of the units. Only those taught with
Foldables had a significant increase from pretest to posttest on affective scores (Casteel, 2006). The
experimental data indicated that Foldables are a promising alternative to the traditional method of
Lecture/Worksheet. Using Foldables significantly improved students attitudes toward the material
(Zike, 2007). Additionally, teachers who participated in the study commented about the improvement
in attitudes when using the Foldables. Furthermore, several teachers

Richard Rodriguez’s Challenging The Traditional Classroom...
Education is a wonderful asset to anyone. With a good one the sky is the limit, and without one
opportunity may never come knocking. In today s society, so much emphasis is put on education. How
many times have we heard the saying if you get a good education, you ll get a good job and make a lot
of money ? Even today, my parents remind me of how much a college degree would add to my
marketability. But when does it become too much? Is it possible that one could overlook the more
important values in life in search to become a learned man ? In Richard Rodriguez s story Challenging
The Traditional Classroom he examines his life as a student, and the affects his learning has towards
his attitude about family and heritage.
Rodriguez is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As Rodriguez became more involved with his academics he drifted further away from his family. The
intimacy once shared between them was disappearing. He takes his first step toward academic
success, away from his family. . His family also understood the importance of education, as his
siblings did well in school, but were never so anxious about their schooling . Upon making sure that
her children learned English, Rodriguez s mother would tell them to maintain their Spanish. This was
obviously a hint to the children to remember their culture. While soaking in all his academics,
Rodriguez intentionally abandons his culture. He makes it obvious that he wants nothing to do with
his heritage by imitating the accents and diction of his teachers. He also doesn t participate in family
gatherings, which is evident when he tells us, Nights when relatives visited and the front rooms were
warmed by Spanish sounds, I slipped quietly out of the house . Rodriguez actually uses his academics
to move further away from his culture. He believes that being educated in academics will truly make
him successful, and like his teachers .
It s sad to think that one could put so much focus on education, and not see the importance of family
and heritage. These two things are what make us who we are, and despite what we go through, they
will remain unchanged (in most cases). Rodriguez learns this lesson first hand when he realizes the
error in his

  • 4. How Successfully Did the Conservative Party Adapt to the... When assessing the various intricate denouements of the late Victorian and Edwardian periods of the British political history, one must stop and wonder about the performance of the Conservative party as one of the protagonists of the parliamentary struggles and changing social and demographic scenarios. By engaging in such exploration, it is almost impossible to avoid one of the most formidable questions which might consequentially arise was the Conservative party a deliberate and conscious derivative of the changing political climate or merely a spontaneous chain reaction driven by luck and circumstance? The answer to this question may be crucial for understanding the nature of the party s success/failure. In order to explain why this very nature may be the crux of articulating Conservative politics during these two historical periods, we will use the analogy of Real vs. Nominal wages . The simplest and most concise way of explaining the difference between real and nominal wages is by providing an example. If one was to get a raise which amounts to extra 10% of the original value, there is no guarantee that the raise will amount to a wider set of opportunities. The improvement of one s overall financial well being is grounded within the concept of real wage. The mere increase in nominal wage has no implications if not adjusted for inflation. Moreover, if the inflation rate was to exceed the percentage change of the salary, the worker would actually end up being worse off ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Environmental Conditions Of The United States Essay 2. Environmental Conditions In terms of climate, the region is characterized by high temperatures during most months of the year. Minimal rainfall is experienced mostly during winter but is usually irregular. The high humidity is caused as a result of the hot temperatures in Bahrain coupled with the shallow seas around. Bahrain is located in a region that has experienced an increase in urbanization over recent years. The quick population growth has occurred mainly in urban areas. The result of this rapid growth has caused an increase in UHI (Urban Heat Island). Increased UHI intensity associates with increased energy consumption, in using the cooling system in particular (Al Obaidi, Ismail Rahman, 2014). Being that the cooling system is the region s major concern, it only translates to more energy consumption. With the high energy consumption, it is therefore worrying to imagine that the main energy source being used in the region is still derived from fossil fuels. This concern was expressed by the chief economist at DIFC, Dr. Naser Saidi. In his opinion, the GCC countries should act with caution regarding their use of the oil reserves instead of relying on them for financial support. Dr. Naser alleges that Kuwait will run out of oil by 2017 whereas Saudi Arabia s reserve will be spent by 2035 that is if they continue using at their current rate (Gulf Business, 2012). Apart from the climate, the use of materials also has an effect on energy spent as it limits the use of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

According to the museum label, this exhibit displays the development of modern art in Mexico and the social, political, and cultural forces that shaped it over the course of nearly half a century (MFA Houston), mainly images depicted of the Mexican Revolution from the eyes of artists during this time period. This monumental revolution transformed Mexico. In 1932, through use of oil on metal, Frida Kahlo paints herself as many other Mexican citizens after the revolution in Self Portrait on the Border Line between Mexico and the United States. In the image, the sun and moon only stand over Mexico, which Kahlo is telling us where her heart truly lies. It is evident as she stands in her pink dress, bare chest showing through, with cigarette in one hand and Mexican flag in the other that she stands true to her feminist mind and Mexican culture. Kahlo stands on a cement block reading Carmen Rivera painted her picture in 1932 (PBS.org), which marks the border between Mexico and the United States. In 1930, when her husband and fellow artist, Diego Rivera, received several commissions to paint murals in the United States, they packed their bags and moved north. People want to safeguard their health and take all the necessary precautions all by themselves, moving to the healthcare facilities only at dire need. A leading technology paradigm is the use of biosensors in quantifying the biological and physiological parameters and transferring the result to a GUI for health monitoring without the assistance of any healthcare personal. These biosensor enabled devices are becoming very popular in the masses as they can themselves monitor their health. Biosensors coupled with the wireless technology offer pervasive ubiquitous remote health monitoring and being extremely small enhances the user s mobility with simultaneous monitoring. The work has discussed the biosensor structure and its importance in healthcare. Various breakthroughs in the biosensor innovations have been listed. A varied discussion about the integration of the wireless technology with the biosensors has been done, emphasizing the importance of real time healthcare monitoring, and lastly a literature survey for the above mentioned areas has been given. Knowing what your body needs is important to weight management and can control overconsumption and under consumption of food. Weight management does not include fad diets that promote quick, temporary weight loss. Instead, it focuses on the long term results that are achieved through slow weight loss, followed by retention of an ideal body weight for age, sex, and height. Weight gain is so complicated, that there are so many variables out there to manipulate weight gain. However, the key factor is no other than an unbalanced diet. People nowadays take too much sugar and salt. They prefer oily food over steamed ones, and take fast food as regular meals. More and more people are beginning to inculcate processed food as a part of their daily life. Excessive intake of certain macronutrients like carbohydrates also contributes to weight gain. Thus, we must be careful with what we eat as our diet associates with the development of our health. It has been a mystery of all times that, even though most men eat more than women, they still gain less weight, but burns more fat. The answer lies within the biological differences between men and women. On average, women s total energy expenditure is around five to ten percent lower than men s (The Weight Watchers Research Department Article). In the other hand, difference in physical activities always causes men to be more active compared to women. Men too have higher metabolic rate, makes them to burn fat ... After two world wars had started and ended in the span of less than 50 years, the first half of the 1900s were influenced and shaped by the war and war effort. This was a time in world history ruled by vulnerability, but not long after the end of the infamous world wars, the Cold War followed. This war was an American effort against the Russian to, in part, fight the rise of communism. One of the most notorious wars for America, the only war they ever lost, was the Vietnam War; a branch of the Cold War effort of containment, or at least the effort to stop the spread of communism, was a theory coined as the domino theory. While the theory made sense at the time, in hindsight, it was flawed, and there were other ways to accomplish the what the domino theory was then thought to achieve. The domino theory was defined as the held belief that if one communist country fell, neighboring communist countries would fall with it, and in turn, communism would eventually reach America and take over the world. This was theorized by American foreign policy advisors, but the phrase was popularized after Dwight D. Eisenhower s use of it in one of his speeches. In this speech, he talked about the importance of American intervention in South Vietnam to allow the creation of a buffer country (South Vietnam), a country or state that stood between a potentially ... One pro is students would not have to fight over name brand clothing (which would cost the parents less for clothes). One counter argument talks about how dated the system is, it also talks about how it discourages free thinking and self expression. The cons of having school uniforms outweigh the pros of having school uniforms. If we did not have school uniforms it would be easier to express yourself. The four elements are: a pressure (influential) group; a social condition; a set of values and norms; and collective action. Taking these four elements as building blocks the following definition of a social problem may be arrived at: A social condition, known to a pressure group as posing a threat to current values and norms, that requires collective action to rectify (Pretorius, Le Roux, Lesufi, Liebenberg, Martin Rautenbach Zegeye in Ferreira 2005:87). At the eve of independence, during the 60 s for a handful of African countries, urbanization, in most cases, was well sought after (social condition). Western powers had developed following paths of industrialization and urbanization and the same was thought possible in Africa (pressure groups). The basic tenants of this assumption went as follows: Capital distributed from the West to Africa was to be invested in industrial enterprises in centers that wielded political power. This newly found industry would promote manufacturing and encourage domestic savings. Jobs would be created and the capital accumulated reinvested in development projects (de Beer et al 2005: 115 125). And thus, by following this path Africa would become self sufficient (values and norms). However, five decades later Africa has failed to develop as rapidly or to the extent to which the West has. Urban poverty escalates daily. A handful of problems face the African city: insufficient provision of jobs, poorly delivered public services, a weakening revenue base, and escalating pollution levels. According to de Beer et al. (2005:116 117), it is projected that by 2030 half of Africa s population will have become urbanized, most of whom will live in poverty (social problem). There are some solutions on offer. • 19. The Websites Of Toms Shoes And Apple Inc. Introduction In this era of consumerism, it is important that any and all organization s websites target their customers and are easily maneuverable. A website is a marketing tool that gives a face to not only the product in which one is selling, but the organization itself. The common theme to a great website, I have noticed, is simplicity. A simple website is easy to navigate and has clear product descriptions, which is an important facet for keeping the attention span of their targeted consumers. For this analysis, I will critique the websites of TOMS Shoes and Apple Inc.; both very successful organizations that have seemed to master this art of simplicity for selling their products. Let s take a look. Body TOMs Shoes, one of the most notable shoe retailers in the entire world, has a purpose behind the selling of their phenomenal products; and it is quiet different than that of its competition. Shoes for a better tomorrow is their mission statement, which is on the front page of their website, Toms.com. Every time they sell a pair of shoes, a pair is given to a child in poverty whom is in need of shoes. I chose to critique this organization s website solely because of this great mission they serve, and the means by which they go about doing so. This organization was founded in 2006, and has seen constant improvement ever since then. From the service point of view, ATM combines both the data and multimedia information into the wired networks while scales well from backbones to the customer premises networks. To ensure the success of ATM, lots of the design issues have been standardized by ATM Forum. Wireless personal communication networks (PCN) has been growing very fast in the last decade. Reconnaissance Summarize plausible active gathering, passive gathering, and active reconnaissance techniques that the adversary could have executed to gain intelligence on the target in the scenario. Reconnaissance is the act of collecting background research necessary to identify and select targets. (1) Cyber reconnaissance is an important stage of a well organized cyber attack, and is also one of the most time consuming activities. This phase can exploit the information gathered about the target s weaknesses. The type of information the hacker is looking for is how to actually get in: firewall ports that are open, network hosts, services that are running. Critical information that should be obtained during the reconnaissance phase include network information, host information, security policies, and human information. Active reconnaissance is a type of computer attack in which an intruder engages with the targeted system to gather information about vulnerabilities. (2) This type of information gathering involves doing something on the target network, which could potentially be tracked back to you. The idea of this phase is to gather IP addresses, subnet masks, network topologies, user names, operating systems, firewalls, password requirements and change frequency. • 39. Themes Of The Princess Bride And Diablo 3 And Billy Budd In literature, there are many written works which have themes that intermix with one another. While literature contains many themes, this does not mean that other works do not contain the same ideas as presented in written works. In the three stories of The Princess Bride , Diablo 3 and Billy Budd Violence and Quests can be seen largely throughout each tale. Violence, while still having the tradition sense of the word, does not always mean fighting someone or physical attacks. Violence thematically is the display of aggressive actions verbally, physically, or even aggression leading to a goal. The other overarching theme in these stories is that of a Quest. Any self realizing adventure where the protagonist realizes is considered a quest thematically as well as a large set goal for as seen within the story. The main themes of The Princess Bride , Diablo 3 and Billy Budd are Quests as well as Violence which show a deep connection on a thematic level. In The Princess Bride by William Goldman the story starts both as an explanation of the story s origin as well as where the story should go. Even in this prolog to the story a quest is outlined. And I realized that I had let control of it go. . . They could change anything they wanted. So I did something of which I am genuinely proud. I bought the book back from the studio, with my own money (Goldman xxxv). Even before the story begins a quest was set before the reader. The quest of a man to have the book he loved ... • 40. The Buckminster Fullerene Is The Third Allotropic Form Of... In general, the Buckminster Fullerene is the third allotropic form of Carbon, with the other two being Graphite and Diamond. The more proper term used to describe these compounds in regards to Carbon compounds would be Graphenes. (22) The Buckminster Fullerene was first discovered in 1985 by scientists Harold Kroto, Rickard Smalley and Robert Curl. (1) They were able to discover that when Graphite is vaporized by a laser, a variety of large Carbon cluster compounds were formed, the C60 compound or Buckminster Fullerene, being the most abundant. (1) The other Fullerenes found were C28 C32, C44 and C78. The C60 compound was named after Buckminster Fuller, as he was responsible for the creation of many geodesic domes, which resemble ... (1) This causes the Carbon to form vapors, which then condenses into the C60 Fullerene as well as additional types of Fullerenes. Source: S. Chuanchen, G. Haibin, F. Dufei, Extraction of C60 cluster ion beam, Review of Scientific Instruments, 65, 1405 1407 (1994). Due to the cage like structure formed during the synthesis of the Fullerene, the compound is able to trap small molecules of the inert gas within the structure. The general formula used to represent a gas enclosed within the structure of the Fullerene is nX@C60, where n is the number of trapped atoms and X represents the trapped gas. (1) The interior diameter of the C60 compound is 7.09Å, which is large enough to trap a variety of the noble gases including Helium, Neon, Argon, Krypton and Xenon. (##) In addition to trapping gases, the Fullerenes are also able to hold metal ions within the structure. Since the C60 compounds have a high electron affinity, they can readily accept electrons from alkali metals. The compounds that are formed from the enclosure of metal ions are known as Endohedral Metallofullerenes. (1) Examples of alkali metals that can be placed inside the C60 compound include Sodium, Potassium, Rubidium and Caesium. For the alkali metals, the formula would resemble, M3C60. • 41. Npr And Classical Radio For The 3-4 Pm Hour Of Classical... Evan Yip Professor Diaz MUHL 124 24 January 2017 Radio Assignment On Monday afternoon, January 23rd, I tuned into NPR and classical radio for the 3 4 pm hour of classical music. The radio host was Gigi Yellen who was very knowledgeable about the pieces she had in the playlist for that afternoon. In between pieces she would usually make a comment or two about some extra musical fact regarding the piece or composer. It was very interesting and I thoroughly enjoyed the hour of listening. There was not an expressed theme or organization to the playlist when I tuned in, so I had no preparation for the pieces that were to come. I actually enjoyed this position of surprise and anticipation because it left me with a completely open mind without ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Johann left the Josef s group in 1825. Josef Lanner quickly became highly regarded and very popular for his waltzes. He began giving concerts in the Vienna Volsgarten in 1831 and he conducted the chamber ball in the Hofburg beginning in the year 1840. His music spread all over Europe and even to the USA where it was very popular. His popularity eventually waned in the shadow of Johann Strauss. Lanner composed the piece Die Mozartisten for the 15th anniversary of Mozart s death as a tribute. The second piece I listened to was the Concierto Madrigal by Joaquin Rodrigo. The piece was very, very long. As a listener, it was easy to tell there were many separate works or sections within this piece. The overall feel was a Spanish theme with a lot of great guitar playing. As expressed by Oxford Music Online, Joaquin Rodrigo became blind at the age of three and remained so until his death. He lived almost exactly a century later than Josef Lanner. Joaquin was born in Sagunto on the 22nd of November in the year 1901. He studied music in France and married a Turkish pianist. Soon after his first composition entitled the Concierto de Aranjuez, he became widely recognized as a leading composer in Spain. He is accredited with an estimated 170 compositions, 11 of which are concertos. Towards the end of the 60 s, Rodrigo composed the Concierto Madrigal for two guitars. • 42. Italian Painting From The Baroque Era Martin Luther s Protestant Reformation had really stirred the religious pot. In the early 1600 s, the Catholic Church responded with the Counter Reformation which propelled the Baroque movement and its artistic aim of making Catholic theology appeal to the masses. Biblical stories with drama and movement were some of the ways Baroque artists sought to engage the viewer. Baroque dominated most of the seventeenth century Europe and later developed into the Rococo style later during the eighteenth century. Begun in the 1700 s, the Rococo Era was art of the aristocracies for the aristocracies. It was technically flashy, but without deep thought or emotional drama, the Rococo celebrated the leisure activities of the upper class. The Rococo style is above all an expression of wit and frivolity. Rococo style signaled the shift from Rome to Paris as the new capital of culture and fashion in Europe. Both styles were influenced by political, social and religious factors, and there are profound differences between the two styles. For this essay, I chose to compare an Italian painting from the Baroque era with a French painting from the Rococo Era. The two paintings I chose to compare and analyze are Luca Giordano s Martyrdom of St. Bartolomeo, and Jean Marc Nattier s Terpsichore, Muse of Music and Dance. Luca Giordano s Martyrdom of St. Bartolomeo from ca 1660 is a painting of martyrdom, in which the human suffering of the saint is shown against a dark background. The painting is in ... A lot of mothers go into depression when the loss of their baby is out of their control such as miscarriages and still born. There are family members very close to me who went through this such as my mother who had a miscarriage with in the first trimester and my first cousin who had at still born in fourth trimester. On the other hand miscarriages causes are infections, radiation, diseases, certain medication, lifestyle factors (smoking, drinking, illegal drug use), incompetent cervix, and etc. Women can help themselves and doctors to prevent miscarriages. But the embryo or fetus has a chromosome that causes it to develop abnormally which is not usually a sign of a condition that could causes problems with future pregnancies. Usually this happens by chance when fertilized egg divides and grows. This problem causes at least half miscarriages, Often time s doctors cannot detect why the fetus died, sometimes it s meant for humans to be uncertain, everything happens for a reason and everything does not have an explanation behind results. The article A qualitative analysis of the experiences of elite athletes who have admitted to doping for performance enhancement , published in the International Journal of Sport Policy and Politics, by Kate Kirby, Aidan Moran, and Suzanne Guerin, provides insight as to the motives of athletes who dope, as well as what may help to deter doping in athletes. It demonstrates that the athletes who dope are generally not allowed to participate in their sports again. It also shows that thousands of athletes were willing to dope, despite knowing that if they were caught, the consequences could include being banned from their sports and having their source of income be taken away. This may demonstrate, as was said in Kirby et. al s article (2011), that consequences such as ban from a sport may not be very effective anti doping methods. It may be more beneficial to make known the consequences such as loss of friendship and respect of the general public to dissuade athletes from doping. The research of Kirby et. al (2011) did point towards the moral issues of doping being more of a deterrent to athletes. One possible reason that so many of the Russian athletes agreed to participate in doping could be that the government was playing a role these athletes were not only feeling pressured to succeed for their own sense of accomplishment, and for the reason of not letting down any team mates, but were feeling the pressure to succeed from more powerful positions, such as coaches, medical professionals, and the ... Stem cells are unique cells that are unspecialized and have the ability to proliferate and develop into many different cell types by forming more daughter cells, which become new stem cells or differentiate to become specialized cells. They have the potential to treat diseases, such as Parkinson s, diabetes and cancer. They may be used to rejuvenate organs, reducing the need for organ transplants. The discovery of stem cells is a rapid progressing field in medicine and research. Stem cells come from several origins in the body and are capable of surviving over long periods. They are most commonly; adult stem cells, human embryonic stem cells and induced ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For induced pluripotent stem cells, viruses are currently used to introduce embryonic genes and have been shown to cause cancers in mouse studies, which may be harmful for human. Embryonic stem cells might trigger an immune response, whereby, the recipient s body attacks the stem cells as foreign invaders, or fail to function typically. It is imperative for researches to clarify and tackle ethical issues to ensure that the uses of stem cells are accepted by the community. It is important that scientists pursue stem cell research while treasuring lives. Stem cell therapy advocates the reparative response of diseased, dysfunctional or injured tissue using stem cells. Regenerative medicine holds the promise of ways to repair cardiovascular damage and improved cancer treatment. Stem cells are used to treat leukemia, some joint repairs and repair the liver. The adult stem cells used to treat autism comes from the human umbilical cord tissue. The role of stem cell therapies has brought the success level of scientists higher as they are soon to discover treatments for more diseases. Research on stem cells continues to advance knowledge about how healthy cells reinstate damaged cells in adult organisms. The potential for future medical use is promising because stem cell research is a highly engrossing area of contemporary biology that is leading to a changing landscape in healthcare. • 47. Explain The Four Kingdoms In The Book Of Daniel Discussion Board 1 In the Book of Daniel the 7th chapter it is record that Daniel mentioned four great kingdoms. The four great kingdoms that Daniel mentioned are Babylon, Medo Persia, Greece, and Rome. Daniel stated in detail that these four kingdoms would come out the earth. The Babylonian, Persian, Greek, and Roman empires were all different in size, power, and in many other ways. It is noted that Daniel use animal symbols to describe these four kingdoms. First, the Babylonia kingdom is represented by a lion that had wings like an eagle in which stood like a man on its two feet. It is imperative to state, The lion s wings being torn off speaks of the king s insanity and loss of power; standing on two feet like a man and receiving a human heart (mind) denotes Nebuchadnezzar s humanitarian rule after his insanity; and the lion being lifted up from the ground indicates that it was God who raised the king to his place of honor. Secondly, the Medo Persia kingdom is represented by a bear that had three ribs in its mouth, and it was commanded to devour all flesh. This command that was given means that this empire will conqueror other empires. Thirdly, the Greek Empire was represented by a leopard with four wings and four heads. The Greek ... • 48. Third Grade Classrooms and Foldables Introduction Good educators, especially in the lower levels of education, are always looking for effective ways to improve students learning and interest in subjects that may not be as appealing. Any activity that promotes reading and encourages critical thinking is especially valued by teachers (Angus, 1993). One of the key developments promoted by Zike is the use of Foldables in the classroom (2007). These are three dimensional hands on manipulative/graphic organizers. Foldables can quickly organize, display and arrange data making it easier for students to grasp concepts, theories, processes, facts, and ideas, or to sequence events as outlined in the content standards. Results and Conclusions Initially the pretest scores of the two groups were compared to ensure that they had equivalent attitudes toward social studies, which they were. The changes in scores from pretest to posttest for each group (Lecture/Worksheet and Foldables) were then compared using a paired samples t test. Casteel researched that the Lecture/Worksheet group had a .69 point mean gain from pretest to posttest, which was not statistically significant, while the Foldables group had a 2.67 point mean gain from pretest to posttest, which was statistically significant (2006). This study was designed to compare the effectiveness of two teaching methods (Lecture/Worksheet and Foldables). The Lecture/Worksheet and Foldables groups had equivalent pretest scores, meaning they were equivalent in attitudes toward social studies at the beginning of the units. Only those taught with Foldables had a significant increase from pretest to posttest on affective scores (Casteel, 2006). The experimental data indicated that Foldables are a promising alternative to the traditional method of Lecture/Worksheet. Using Foldables significantly improved students attitudes toward the material (Zike, 2007). Additionally, teachers who participated in the study commented about the improvement in attitudes when using the Foldables. Furthermore, several teachers ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He takes his first step toward academic success, away from his family. . His family also understood the importance of education, as his siblings did well in school, but were never so anxious about their schooling . Upon making sure that her children learned English, Rodriguez s mother would tell them to maintain their Spanish. This was obviously a hint to the children to remember their culture. While soaking in all his academics, Rodriguez intentionally abandons his culture. He makes it obvious that he wants nothing to do with his heritage by imitating the accents and diction of his teachers. He also doesn t participate in family gatherings, which is evident when he tells us, Nights when relatives visited and the front rooms were warmed by Spanish sounds, I slipped quietly out of the house . Rodriguez actually uses his academics to move further away from his culture. He believes that being educated in academics will truly make him successful, and like his teachers . It s sad to think that one could put so much focus on education, and not see the importance of family and heritage.
