How to Delegate?  Get a “buy in” about the ”end vision”  Make available all possible training, tools, contacts, processes  Show the space for creatively / differently doing stuff - Authority  Deliberate and agree on principals for choosing one over the other  Speak about the specific issues that they may face and possible resolution  Workout a timeline jointly  Develop plan ‘B’ wherever required  Agree interim reporting model or deliberation meetings - Accountability  Chalk out the protocol for “Red flag” reporting  Plan an analysis, appreciation and feedback session at the end.
  • 4. Whom to Delegate?  To people who are excited for the project  Match level of work with the level of people  Even upward delegation is possible
  • 8. What is stopping you from Delegating?  Too important to Delegate  Impatience for training  Lack of confidence in the delegates  “Other may become better than me”  Costly to have a resource for the thing that I can do

Tips  Understand the team deeply  Double check if you are understood completely  Create “models” that you want people to follow  Think of “What will excite the delegates for the job”  Talk of “What if this works out well”  Align by workshops / trainings / get aways  Give ideas to reach to the solutions NOT the solution itself  Appreciate the smallest of initiative / idea that seems working  Followup only at agreed intervals if not updated proactively  Give space to try and test  Don’t over delegate!!
