Empowering Truths: How to unleash employee purpose and raise organisational c...Andrew Genskow
Have you found a driving purpose in your career? Management—has your team found that same motivation? The days of rote, machine-like company structures are long gone. As people, we need more out of our day-to-day work.
Through appreciative inquiry, encouragement to play and wander, and a dedication to this strategy, we can make great strides in empowering employees to find purpose at work.
As a tech consultancy specialising in software development, UX/UI design and Agile methodology, PALO IT is expected to be at the bleeding edge of organisational progress, but evolving into a more ‘conscious organisation’ is no easy task. We started by posing simple questions: What are my values? What do I love to do? Where do I want to make my contribution? The results paint a picture of what’s possible when you put purpose at work at the top of your to-do list…
Marcus Buckingham and Curt Coffman present the results of two major studies. One
offers findings from polling more than a million employees about their workplace needs.
The other is a 20-year study of how the methods of the world’s greatest managers
differ from those of lesser managers. This study involved interviews with more than
80,000 managers from 400 companies, the largest such investigation ever undertaken. The authors found key differences that fly in the face of traditional thinking about successful managerial practices. This astute, well-written report presents the major principles of great managers, and offers examples of leaders who put their knowledge of effective management into practice. The book’s conclusions rest on in-depth research, not theory.
This painstaking study authoritatively describes how employees feel about management
and explains exactly what great managers do, and why and how they achieve top results.Recommended it to everyone who manages, wants to manage or is managed.
This was a presentation done by Ginny Owen, Executive Director of Schools for Harrison School District Two. SDEC 2014 Keynote - Among the traits that distinguish a good team from a great team is their ability to innovate. And despite the rhetoric in favor of innovation, most organizations are stuck in an implementation mindset, stifling creativity, excellence, and the resultant innovation. The experimentation mindset frees us from self-imposed constraints, allowing us to continually learn and improve.

The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

1. LEAD
- Please sit in homegroups -
Have booklets given to HGLs to hand out
2. What is lead?
I & self. Reflective learning and metacognition.
I & others. Team leadership & management.
I & the world. Taking responsibility for the world.
4. Visualisation exercise. Envision yourself as the leader you want to be. What skills, attitudes,
behaviours will you need in order to become this leader?
9. WHY?
Typical member story. Challenge delegates to think how much more our members could
develop if we delegated properly. Perhaps have them stand up or somehow acknowledge if
they didn’t have proper TMP XP, etc.
Use paper dolls - As one person you can only do so much, but you can multiply your
influence by delegating effectively
11. THEORY
Simple flow of delegation. Reproduce in booklet.
Put Mindtools principles in booklet.

Test: moderate ability/willingness, you are open to new ideas (“non-directed”), trust
developing.
